- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So today we're going to talk
- 0:31about hidden lessons. And I think this is such a
- 0:34fascinating thing because when you study different forms of
- 0:38mindfulness and Buddhism, you'll often see things about how
- 0:42things are not always what they seem or there's always
- 0:45additional meanings. And you have to find them by
- 0:48being observant. You know, you have to be in that
- 0:51acute state of awareness. So thinking on that, I'm.
- 0:56Going through my weekend and I am noticing how many little
- 1:00hidden things there are that I need to consistently pay
- 1:04attention to in order to get the lesson out of it.
- 1:07So let's talk about one obvious silly one, which is laundry.
- 1:10So I don't mind doing laundry. I actually like doing laundry.
- 1:14It's pretty therapeutic to sit there and fold it and it's just
- 1:18fine for me. I just have no issue with it.
- 1:21And I take it seriously, like I'm the one that does the
- 1:23laundry. I like doing it.
- 1:25So my husband comes home from working out and he says, hey,
- 1:28something's going wrong. When I my clothes, like, as soon
- 1:31as they get wet, they smell. I obviously like, what?
- 1:35What are you talking about? He's like, yeah, they have this
- 1:36weird odor coming out of them. So I'm like, OK, so immediately
- 1:40I get myself worked up and I'm like, OK, I'm doing the laundry
- 1:44the right way. I'm using soap.
- 1:46I'm soaking it beforehand. I'm doing all the steps.
- 1:51And I'm thinking to myself, this is interesting because even
- 1:54though I'm going through the steps that say this is how you
- 1:56do laundry, not leaving it sitting in the washing machine,
- 2:00transferring it over to the dryer, immediately drying it
- 2:02fully, I'm doing all the things, I'm not getting the result that
- 2:07I want. And I'm thinking, weird else
- 2:09does this show up in the world, right?
- 2:11Like, what are the other things? Like, we think we're doing
- 2:13everything right, but we're not getting the result we want.
- 2:15So we have to change our mind and say, well, you know, how do
- 2:18we determine right? So we start reading about it,
- 2:21looking it up. And apparently when you work out
- 2:24heavily and there's a lot of sweat involved, this is a common
- 2:26problem. So I had to change my approach,
- 2:31find out what can I do. I don't want to have all these
- 2:33heavy, you know, chemicals and things, and I got to figure
- 2:38something out. But what's so fascinating to me
- 2:40about the process is you think you're doing something right and
- 2:43then it turns out you're not getting the result.
- 2:46And this shows up in our lives across the board.
- 2:49Where else does this happen for us?
- 2:51Where else does this show up? So FYI, I figured out the
- 2:55laundry situation. We're working it through and
- 2:58trying it, and I feel much better.
- 3:00And then, you know, yesterday I decided, OK, I'm going to try
- 3:03making my own mayonnaise because I have all these wonderful eggs
- 3:06from the chickens. And I read the recipe and I'm
- 3:10looking at the recipe and I'm seeing how hard it can be if you
- 3:14don't have. You can have all the right tools
- 3:17and you can do the like, have everything lined up, all the
- 3:21ingredients and the tools. But if you pour the oil too
- 3:24quickly, all of a sudden you don't have it, It's not going to
- 3:27work. It's going to break the
- 3:29mayonnaise and you're going to have this mess on your hands.
- 3:32And I'm thinking again, wow, this is so interesting because
- 3:35it's about, OK, you've got the right tools, but if you're not
- 3:38performing it the right way, that's not going to work out
- 3:41and. You know, it's the same story
- 3:44over and over. No matter where you look, you
- 3:46can see it. You can have all the components,
- 3:49But executed poorly, it's not gonna work.
- 3:52And even when you have a good execution, when you have a
- 3:55strong execution, sometimes you might have faulty ingredients,
- 4:00sometimes you might just have something that's gone wrong.
- 4:02Like that happened about a week ago, Working on trying to make
- 4:05some bread. Had yeast?
- 4:07Thought it was fine? Nope.
- 4:10It didn't work and it was, as my friend said, it's a yeast issue.
- 4:13So I'm like okay, there's there's absolutely no way to
- 4:18really understand what is really going on until you observe and
- 4:23say okay. Here's, here's the trick to
- 4:25this. I myself have to pay close
- 4:27attention to the fact that even if I have the great ingredients,
- 4:31even if I have it the right way, I might not be putting it
- 4:33together the right way. I might not.
- 4:34I may be pouring it too quickly. I might have an old ingredient.
- 4:38Whatever it might be, it's all about observation.
- 4:42It's all about stopping, pausing and pulling yourself back from
- 4:45the edge, observing and saying, OK, what am I going to do with
- 4:49this information now? So take this out there into your
- 4:53world, start to look around again.
- 4:55This is an excellent exercise and mindfulness, and it will
- 4:58really help you hone in on where you need to tighten up your
- 5:03scope in life. I mean, I look at this and I say
- 5:06all these little lessons have just brought me back to a place
- 5:09of realizing that when I stay out of the future and I stay in
- 5:13the moment and I'm super observant, life just gets better
- 5:16and better and better. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:19you have a very in the moment day, very blessed day and I will
- 5:22see you tomorrow. Bye.
