Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Sometimes people get stuck in this loop.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: They get stuck in the loop of I need to keep healing.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: I need to keep fixing.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: And my personal experience is we get to live.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Now that we know, we get to experience life differently.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: We get to choose that.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: And that takes time.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: That takes effort.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: And it's not going to be comfortable all the time.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: This podcast discusses sensitive and sexual topics that may be triggering.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Please understand that I am not a therapist.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: My guests and I are simply sharing from our own journeys and experiences.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the Rotic Spirit Podcast, where sexuality, soul, and embodiment meet.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: My name is Jenna Lee, and today I'll be talking about the missing step after healing.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: I believe that the personal development industry is creating or has created a new identity.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: And not everyone, I see you out there, but I do see this what is there I need to fix type of energy.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: What is it that I need to do differently?
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: And so seeking that as an expert to help you do that.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And I believe that there's a missing piece in the journey that I learned through my own journey, my own experience.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: And that is embodiment.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: So if you stick around today, I'll talk to you more about what embodiment means and how it has dramatically shifted my life to manifest exactly and live exactly the way that I truly feel and desire, and how you can start to do that too.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, so it's been a while since I've talked about my story.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And I believe that this is a good reference point because to see the contrast in how I live today and how I used to live is huge.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: And if you haven't heard my story before, and I think it's been about a year since I've shared it on the podcast, the full story, I wanted to share.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I have talked about PTSD before, and I had a lot of trauma that had come up that really created that PTSD, or really the PTSD manifested from it.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: So I had a loved one that was experiencing episodes and a lot of things happened in a short period of time.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: And over months I went into a survival state.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: And when they finally were getting help, I noticed that I was not okay.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: So with the environment completely switched, and I said, there's something here that needs to be done.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: I didn't know I had PTSD, but I know I would walk into rooms and I didn't know why I was there.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: I would just forget.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: It's 10 seconds.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And I lived that state of being.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: And I was, I was working at the time and beautiful space that I was working because there was a lot of time that I was taking off, but it wasn't enough.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: So I actually started going to therapy and they recommended EMDR therapy.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: And when, if you're not familiar with EMDR therapy, that's the for me, I experienced the buzzies.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: There were buzzies that I put under each leg.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: And the therapists would be trained to help me process what I had gone through, but in a different way.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And with the syncing up of both sides of the hemisphere, because the way that we process trauma, some people process trauma differently and different times.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And for me, it was we're gonna put everything over here.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: So I was able to reprocess it in a different safe way.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: And when I recognized that there was this PTSD I was experiencing, and I was diagnosed with that, but I recognized that I was actually always living in a state of dysregulation.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: The PTSD just swung on one side of the fence so much that I could not ignore anything anymore.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I I had I had a decision to either choose to stay in that state of being and in fear of you know people around me or things going on, or do something different.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: So after I started doing the EMDR therapy, about two weeks in, I'm there for one thing, all the things that have just happened.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: And then something else comes up.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: And be when you work with someone that's good at what they do, they can read what's going on, they can hear what you're saying.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: And I I started to share something about my sexual trauma and something that had come up during the period of time with my loved one, where there was, you know, kind of talking about my sexual abuse when I was younger.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: And this spun out where it was like, let's go deeper into that.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: So I'm in for one thing, and all of a sudden it turns into looking at childhood trauma.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: And I I had a lot of decisions that I could have gone in different ways at the time.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: And I I stuck with it.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I'll say about a week after I had a very dark spot.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I had a spot where I, I mean, the whole the whole space seemed really dark in the beginning, but it was really dark where I thought I was re-experiencing everything for just a moment.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And because I was in such a state of survival, I I did not want to be alive anymore on the planet.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: And so I I was experiencing that, and I, you know, I even went as far as to drinking myself to uh excess in a car in a parking lot, and and then really having a lot of thoughts behind what would what would that be with me actually just leaving?
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: And so and the the night transpired, but just to move into this space, I started doing the work.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: I started, it wasn't easy, and I started getting into all of the things that were underlying between the way that I was living before I started experiencing PTSD or any of the trauma in my adulthood.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: I started to get into the weeds and recognize that life as I was living was as I was living in the past.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: It was is as if I was.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: But the truth is, is that we're never living in the past.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: My body could not tell the difference.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: So I was doing the work, and I and as I went back to work and I was maybe about 60% symptoms gone, and I felt so much better.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: I started investing in my energy with understanding my spirituality and understanding energy and intuition and going to psychic and mediumship development classes.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: And so when I landed here eventually shortly after, I had an ayahuasca journey.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: And after that, I started, you know, really connecting in with myself and fell into a modality within reading energy and understanding the Kashic records and diving in deeper to all these things.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Your Kashic records is your soul's energetic database of everything you've experienced.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: And I started learning what this was and how this got in deeper to helping support me become fully symptom-free.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: I would go into the root cause of what is going on now, and I would recognize that there were experiences I had when I was younger that completely shaped my behavior and unconsciously was driving.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: And when you become more conscious and aware of things, you can serve to be the driver.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: And then there's there was the the piece of embodiment, and not only do I know what I know, but I started living that way.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: So I want to share with you my methodology in understanding embodiment and being and living in that way.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: And embodiment is just simply not only knowing a truth, but feeling that truth move through your body so much so that you create from that space.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: So if I know that I'm safe and I did all this work, I did all the work on the I, the shadow work.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know where it came from.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: And then something comes in my life to now build contrast, now build an opportunity that invites me to feel that through my body.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: So maybe I never felt safe around males and men.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: And that was actually definitely my experience.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: I I hadn't had any safe men around me.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And so I did all this work, and a new partner had come into my space uh eventually at that time.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: And I would recognize some of the old stories in the mind.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: I just see them, but I kept moving through the truth in my body of safety.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: And maybe there were points in time where I was like, I want to self-sabotage the shit out of this.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: And so I sort of did, but in a way that was, I would move slowly through it.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, I remember one specific time where I was I was speaking and I was like, this is not gonna work.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: And then I slowed down 15 minutes later, I was like, okay, let me rewind.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: And I had to sit in some uncomfortable feelings in the body.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna grow and expand without feeling that.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: And the the body is gonna be gonna say basically, I feel like this is still happening.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: I feel like that thing is still happening.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: The nervous system was like, wait, I'm still figuring out, am I surviving or not?
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: And we have to tell it something new.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Because without that new information, it's just uh there's no evidence for the body to settle in.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: And there's science to this, uh, to not to get deep into it, but we create neuropathways with every new experience, and neuropathways move through our body.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Every new experience is telling is evidence to the body that this is different, and we're teaching it that this is different, and we start to create from that space.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: So now I have awareness.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Now I'm speaking out, and I'm saying, you know, in that space, I was saying uh some things that were opposite of my truth.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: They were from fear, and now I slow down and I breathe and I recognize in my body what's happening, and it feels tense.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: So the truth, the what I'm speaking was not my truth, and my body knew it.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: And my body was also like, hey, is this happening?
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: What's happening?
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: So we need to self-sabotage and slowing down and all the things in between really help produce a new opportunity that I was invited into.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: And I said, okay, at that time, I'm going to do something different.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: And so these are ways that we can start to just slowly shift not only our mind and our body, but our experience in life.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: So embodiment is living it, is living it, and it doesn't mean that I'm I'm living it 100%.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: It means I'm taking a step to live it, and that's all that's needed.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: And embodiment is also I'm not gonna shove away all of the pain.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: All of the hate and the anger and and all of that, because that's bypassing what embodiment is, it is also acceptance of all of that, breathing into that, allowing the body to feel safe enough to accept that move through in the moment.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: And then embodiment is also telling something different, the truth.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: So if I am angry, and that is a truth that my body wants experience, great.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: But then how do I come back to regulate and to be in the present moment?
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Because the the anger could be something from the past.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: It could be a trigger, it could be an activation of something.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: And so it's allowing that to come up so that we actually feel it, and then actually moving back into the present moment, you know, and so letting that move through.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: And my my method is what I call the embodied portal method, and it's moving through just simple steps.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: And first is the awareness, which I talked about that quite a bit, you know, just bringing in that the pieces to understand what is it about my behavior, what is it about my choices, what is it about my beliefs, and bringing that into awareness.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Because without awareness, we simply cannot choose something different.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: We don't know that there's another choice because we don't know what is even where is it even coming from.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: So awareness is huge, it is pivotal.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: That is what my healing journey has led me to.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: My healing journey has led me to I know what I know and doing the shadow work.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: And so that is beautiful.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: So say I take this experience in, and I and I can give another example too, like on like rejection.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Maybe there's there's a fear around asking someone out, and you're you reject, you basically reject yourself before you get rejected from someone else.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And so if that's your pattern, um, or you're like, I would love to date, but I can't seem to find anyone, or like I'm I'm too afraid to ask someone out.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: And part of it is because of the rejection, become aware, become aware where is it coming from?
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: What are your beliefs around rejection?
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: If if you truly put yourself out there, do you feel that you will not be seen and heard?
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: You know, how how it may feel unsafe in that way.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: And then maybe you might even feel like, okay, there's something with my worth here.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: If I am not worthy of this partner, then I uh what does that mean?
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: And I really want to, you know, connect with them.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: So before you tell yourself the the fantasy of the future, just be present with I have these feelings, okay?
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: I have this awareness.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: I don't, I feel scared.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And feel into that, into the body.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: So this is what I like to call the emotional space, the sensation space, and start to actually recognize where you feel that in the body.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: So you can do a body scan where you just bring awareness to your body head to toe, and you start to recognize what it feels like when you're in this state of awareness, when you're in the space of, oh my gosh, rejection feels really scary, or the idea of it.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: I I don't even like the idea of it.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: But now we're gonna drop into the body.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: So you drop into the body, feel the sensations, and I like to ask how that body part feels.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: So if my body part that I that comes up is the sensation feels constricted around the throat, or I feel tenseness in my shoulders, or my lower back hurts, or I feel heavy, or I have feel like acid reflex, anything.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Feel those sensations and ask that body part.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Ask how how do you feel?
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: And I and I love this because a lot of times we weren't asked how we felt when we were experiencing these emotions when we're younger.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: I I feel like for me or you know, generations, um, older generations and and who knows younger, I'm sure, but the the emotional awareness or teaching of emotion and how to regulate your body, those were not things that you learned in school.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I don't know what they do now, but those are not things there.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: And I definitely feel like uh my experience was, you know, um uh, you know, family from other another country that was feeling like survival to fit in.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: And then, you know, uh for first woman generation to uh really start to work out in the field.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: And so there's a lot of survival aspects, and and we're not gonna get emotions in here because we need to live.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: And and it and that's fine.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: You know, we're taught what we're taught, and that's many decades ago, and now things are different.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: So now it's about how do I under how do I actually feel in my body and let me actually understand that my emotions are safe and feel that within, not only just know it, but actually ground into the body where I allow myself to accept all the emotions.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Maybe anger is not something that feels good to express.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: That was mine.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: That was related to a lot of things in my childhood, different areas, different trauma points, different experiences.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: And I found myself never expressing anger.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Well, what is when I think of anger and really letting go, I think of loss of control and explosion, and I need to have control.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: And if I have control, then I'm good, then I'm safe.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: And the that is a belief that came in because there's trauma around not having control around experiences when I was younger.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: So the body's like, we're gonna not let this go.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: We're not, we're not letting it out.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: And so sitting with that to actually let that be, and I'm not saying anger projected outwards to towards someone else, feeling that within the body.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: And I I've done exercises where I've yelled and shouted in pillows and and shouted out in the land and on the mountain and felt that rage move through my body and all different areas.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: And my relationship with anger has changed because I actually allowed myself to feel it and to experience it and say, you know what?
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: Actually, that's not loss of control.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: It's freedom.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: It's freedom to just be and accept myself exactly as it is.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: So we have our emotions, we have the sensations, we have the allowing of letting everything move through.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: And then we have the opportunity to challenge, invite in something new.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: So I go through this process, and now I actually have the invitation to change my behavior.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: So if I feel something around rejection, invite in opportunities for rejection where you allow yourself to feel that it is safe for that to come in.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: And I'll share a story with you where I remember I at one point had I had a potential interest in in someone.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: And I remember I saw him and I had had darted the other way.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: And this was like a while a while ago.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: And I was funny because I was thinking about it.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: I actually rejected my I I rejected myself before rejection came up.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And this is so common.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: I mentioned this before, but it is so common.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: It comes out in different ways.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: Maybe you make an excuse, uh, and that excuse is projecting what someone else may feel, and it's not true, or maybe, but you don't know it.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: So you're just projecting it and as an excuse in the mind, because it feels safer to do that than actually figure out if it's a yes or no for them.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: This podcast is sponsored by My Awakening Within.

- 23:06SPEAKER_01: So I started to invite in potential areas of rejection.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: And that could mean I go to a cafe and I ask for something free.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: And they're business.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: So are they likely to say no?
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, is it gonna hurt if they say no?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: It will it indefinitely hurt?
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: No.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: It's it's something not attached to the outcome where you'll be fine in your day-to-day, and it's something that's an invitation to sit in the uncomfortableness of uh this is weird to ask.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: You know, this is weird.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I can do it.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I can do it.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: And you ask and you breathe into it, you feel your sensations, and you just let it be.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: You let the experience unfold and you're really present with it.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: And so that really invites in the opportunity for your nervous system to rewire.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: You're creating a new experience.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: You're sitting through the uncomfortableness, you're sitting through any discomfort, any pain going in through your body.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: You're letting, you know, you may have some mental energy around this and say, no, no, no, I can't, I can't do this.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: But you actually do it and you're going to create a new experience in your body.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: And it's going to get easier if you keep doing it.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: And before you know it, you are just speaking exactly what's on your mind.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: You're just saying it as it comes in because you are not in shame anymore.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: You're not asking to take up space.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: You are not attaching your worth or anything to that space of rejection.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: You are just simply being you.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: And now your body is settled in around, I'm just gonna be me.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: And that doesn't mean that discomfort won't come in.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: So I invite you guys to challenge yourself.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Uh, give it a few weeks, give it, give yourself a 30-day challenge and let yourself really settle into the idea because it doesn't just take one time, it takes many times of seeing that truth move through your body.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: And even so, what I like to say is sometimes people get stuck in this loop.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: They get stuck in the loop of I need to keep healing, I need to keep fixing.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: And my personal experience is we get to live now that we know, now that we know, we get to experience life differently.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: We get to choose that.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: And that takes time, that takes effort, and it's not going to be comfortable all the time.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Growth in life.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: You may see, oh my gosh, all these things coming in, these are the things I want, but somehow I'm contracted by all these things coming in.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: And I'll I'll share with you, I had a point in my business where I had the best month in my business.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: And and then I had an invitation, a really huge opportunity that landed in that was just that felt like it came out of nowhere.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: And I had all these things happen within a few days, and my body was like, I don't know what the fuck to do with this.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Like, I asked for these things, I did these things, I manifested it.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: And now that it showed up, I need a minute.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: I need just one minute.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: And so this is where that embodiment piece comes in is honoring all of that, honoring all this, all these things that move through in our life.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: And so when we take that, we take these moments, take this method, take something that works for you, take the breath work and breathe into it and soften the body and just be present with it because what happens is that moves through, and then everything opens up.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: For me, everything was on pause.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: I recognized my body was in this state of expansion and it was freaking out a little bit because it had never been there.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: It wasn't because I needed to heal something else.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: That language to me is not conducive to living.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: It's not because I need to go in and fix something again.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: I was experiencing something I never did before.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: And that expansion can feel scary.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: So my opportunity invitation was to feel it and let it move through.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: And I remember a few days later, too, I had someone come, a new client come in to buy a six-month program a few days later after I did that work.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: And so I the the universe listens and is and is in touch with exactly where we are.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: And if you're unavailable, the world, the world and the clients around, it it mirrors that.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: And when you are available, it comes in.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: And so that's a big piece on embodiment.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: So take all these things and integration as this final step where you are applying the knowledge that you know in real life and you're living.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: And I want to introduce to you this mini-series that I'm doing all about embodiment and how it relates to sexuality and sexual healing and it and spirituality and expression of all of that.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: And so I will be having different points of view around that going forward.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: But I wanted to introduce this concept to you.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: I wanted to introduce, lay it out, lay my method out, give you an opportunity to see what works for you, and then offer different perspective in future episodes.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: So this is just something once a month to drop into this embodiment, this embodiment series, and allow yourself to see perspective and how embodiment can actually be reflective in your life and how you can choose something different and different tools that different people have as well.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: So I will be having on different experts in their space that say this is what's worked for them.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: And there's the invitation and discernment with what feels good for you because it's all about your truth.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: It's all about how you feel within and if it resonates good, and if it doesn't, it doesn't.
