- 1:45SPEAKER_07: Extra dapper.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: We're gonna go to work after this.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: Hey, that's right.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: What what you weren't working already?
- 1:50SPEAKER_07: I mean, technically Lindy was.
- 1:51SPEAKER_07: I mean, that's right.
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: With our drinks here.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: You're absolutely right.
- 1:55SPEAKER_07: So we have our drinks, our official drinks, like we do every week.
- 1:58SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 1:59SPEAKER_07: I mean, honestly, the only drinks I had at the Lions Carnival, though, was like water because it was so hot.
- 2:04SPEAKER_07: But we were still representing talking about all the cold drinks everybody should get.
- 2:08SPEAKER_07: But I digress.
- 2:09SPEAKER_07: What do we have today, my dear friends?
- 2:11SPEAKER_07: What do I have?
- 2:12SPEAKER_07: Another taste test today.
- 2:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, taste test every time to start this podcast.
- 2:16SPEAKER_07: Uh-huh.
- 2:16SPEAKER_07: I love surprising you guys with different drinks.
- 2:18SPEAKER_07: It looks so pretty.
- 2:19SPEAKER_07: I'm noticing something on the top and everything.
- 2:21SPEAKER_07: Yours is top tier pretty, just like you, Chris.
- 2:25SPEAKER_06: So, Kate, Caitlin, you have, I don't know if you've tried this one before, but it's the cinnamon roll latte.
- 2:30SPEAKER_06: Remember, oh, did you so good at remembering?
- 2:32SPEAKER_06: I said I wanted to try that.
- 2:34SPEAKER_06: I didn't know if you said you had tried it or wanted to try it.
- 2:37SPEAKER_06: Okay, perfect.
- 2:38SPEAKER_06: Okay, so that's a popular one.
- 2:40SPEAKER_06: It's white chocolate, brown sugar cinnamon, and vanilla.
- 2:43SPEAKER_06: And then it's got your favorite cold foam on top again with cinnamon powder.
- 2:47SPEAKER_06: So pretty.
- 2:47SPEAKER_07: We gotta I mean maybe we take a picture or something.
- 2:51SPEAKER_07: Like, can we kind of see the cinnamon on the top?
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: Okay, first rotate the sips forward to the camera when you take a drink.
- 2:57SPEAKER_07: Please forgive.
- 2:59SPEAKER_07: That's right.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: It'll be gone by the end.
- 3:01SPEAKER_07: It will, guys.
- 3:01SPEAKER_07: It will be.
- 3:02SPEAKER_07: She'll be like, dude, last time, like I had the best day.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Like so you're gonna try that or what?
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Rotate your sips properly.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: You need to.
- 3:10SPEAKER_07: She's gonna chug it again.
- 3:11SPEAKER_07: I'm ready for it.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: Rotate a little bit more.
- 3:13SPEAKER_07: Which way?
- 3:13SPEAKER_07: Right or left?
- 3:14SPEAKER_07: Like, okay.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: There you keep rotating.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: Your camera's here, remember?
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: There you oh, okay, hello.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: Now Laura's fun to see your face.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: No.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to take a picture.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: I'm taking a picture of you.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: You were like Caitlin's on crack today or something.
- 3:29SPEAKER_07: No, it's because I'm just so excited to try this.
- 3:32SPEAKER_07: And I'm like, I'm having to wait longer.
- 3:33SPEAKER_07: It's like a salmon call package.
- 3:35SPEAKER_07: Here we go.
- 3:35SPEAKER_07: Here we go.
- 3:36SPEAKER_07: And guys, again, for our listeners, that I prefer an iced latte.
- 3:40SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 3:40SPEAKER_07: Like, you know, some people are in are in their hot mode, but you know, still 90.
- 3:44SPEAKER_07: So here we are.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: It's a sip, not a gulp.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: We talked we talked about last week.
- 3:49SPEAKER_07: I don't even know like what to say anymore at this point.
- 3:52SPEAKER_07: Like, how am I gonna come up with like new content when everything is truly that good?
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Or does it taste like a cinnamon roll?
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Well, that's the whole point, right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_07: And the cold foam.
- 4:01SPEAKER_07: I can't say it enough.
- 4:02SPEAKER_07: Why is it so good?
- 4:03SPEAKER_07: I can't.
- 4:04SPEAKER_07: It's the foaminess.
- 4:05SPEAKER_07: I can taste a little bit of it.
- 4:07SPEAKER_07: And with the the cinnamon rolliness of it all, that white chocolate.
- 4:11SPEAKER_07: Mm-hmm.
- 4:12SPEAKER_07: That's my favorite.
- 4:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's gotta be the the thing, the kicker in this.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't think I have any white chocolate in mine, right?
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: So what am I drinking today?
- 4:20SPEAKER_06: So you said you wanted something with caffeine.
- 4:22SPEAKER_06: So that's gonna be a lotus, which has a ton of caffeine.
- 4:25SPEAKER_06: 240 milligrams of caffeine, actually.
- 4:28SPEAKER_06: You should have had that yesterday, man.
- 4:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 4:33SPEAKER_06: So lotus flavor is that is the autumn berry lotus.
- 4:37SPEAKER_06: It's on our fall menu.
- 4:38SPEAKER_06: Autumnberry, blackberry, cranberry, and vanilla with the super cream.
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: Look at his autumn berry, like got the little bit of sour.
- 4:48SPEAKER_05: But you know what?
- 4:48SPEAKER_03: But it's good.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: It's good because it's like sweet, but yet I can feel this is gonna like whether it's gonna be sugar or caffeine high, I'm gonna be on one.
- 4:58SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: Not so race, see who drinks it by the end of the podcast.
- 5:01SPEAKER_07: We actually should have a foot race after this.
- 5:04SPEAKER_07: Me and you.
- 5:05SPEAKER_07: We'll see whose caffeine does better.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: Remember, I still got a I have a new bionic kit, but no.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: I'm good.
- 5:10SPEAKER_07: I got a bad hamstring still.
- 5:12SPEAKER_07: So that's that's no, I'm good.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: Very good.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: So this is again the lotus, autumn berry fall lotus, right?
- 5:18SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: 240 grams of caffeine.
- 5:21SPEAKER_07: Mm-hmm.
- 5:22SPEAKER_07: That's it, a whole dang day.
- 5:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 5:23SPEAKER_07: Maybe a whole week.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that one's pretty good.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: That one's been pretty popular, right?
- 5:27SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I want to talk about this because I'm I'm this was a popular one.
- 5:30SPEAKER_07: We know I've tried the banana bread that's popular.
- 5:33SPEAKER_07: Obviously, the scarecrow.
- 5:35SPEAKER_07: Is there any other signal?
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: And the naked scarecrow.
- 5:38SPEAKER_07: Saying Danny Saudi.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: My naked scarecrow I had was phenomenal tabulous.
- 5:43SPEAKER_07: That's a new innovative you know, product.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: The naked scarecrow.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: Has anyone ordered the naked scarecrow?
- 5:49SPEAKER_07: Not that I know of.
- 5:50SPEAKER_07: No.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 5:51SPEAKER_07: Not yet.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: Or the big dog scarecrow because big dog doesn't like coffee.
- 5:55SPEAKER_07: You know, we could get we need to get a picture with the big dog with the naked score.
- 5:58SPEAKER_07: But that's great though.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: Having sips, coffee, right?
- 6:02SPEAKER_03: You don't have to have coffee.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: You can like a low strink, right?
- 6:06SPEAKER_03: And that's what's awesome about it, or a naked scarecrow.
- 6:08SPEAKER_07: And guys, I obviously have decaf too.
- 6:10SPEAKER_07: Like my sister, she she truly like can't have caffeine.
- 6:13SPEAKER_07: She gets so sick.
- 6:15SPEAKER_07: It just happened after, but she still loves coming and getting her.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: She likes coffee.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: She just can't have the caffeine of coffee.
- 6:21SPEAKER_07: Right, right.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: So this would kill her.
- 6:24SPEAKER_07: Obviously, yeah.
- 6:25SPEAKER_07: It really would.
- 6:25SPEAKER_07: Her heart like beats outside of her chest.
- 6:28SPEAKER_07: But that's what I'm saying.
- 6:28SPEAKER_07: There's everything there.
- 6:29SPEAKER_07: And even the chai.
- 6:31SPEAKER_07: So when I went there to Gillespie yesterday, I had them create me just something random.
- 6:36SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 6:36SPEAKER_07: It was very good.
- 6:37SPEAKER_07: And I usually don't like chai.
- 6:38SPEAKER_07: But just wait, hold on.
- 6:39SPEAKER_07: Does chai have caffeine in it?
- 6:41SPEAKER_06: Yes, but not a little bit.
- 6:42SPEAKER_06: Not not as much as coffee.
- 6:44SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 6:44SPEAKER_07: I didn't think so.
- 6:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: It's similar to like tea.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: But a little bit more tea.
- 6:48SPEAKER_06: Okay, because it's called chai tea.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: So so give us a rundown.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: What's the community favorites right now with your new fall list that you brought out?
- 6:55SPEAKER_06: The scarecrow still is probably.
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: They were sold out in the Gillespie for a little bit.
- 7:00SPEAKER_06: Yes, now we sold out of the syrups for about a week and we were getting messages like every day.
- 7:05SPEAKER_06: When are you gonna have it back?
- 7:07SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 7:09SPEAKER_06: Yes, but we have that all back in stock.
- 7:11SPEAKER_06: And then, of course, white pumpkin mocha that's on our fall menu, which is actually what I'm drinking today.
- 7:16SPEAKER_06: It's my favorite.
- 7:18SPEAKER_06: Um, and people people just love the pumpkin, of course.
- 7:21SPEAKER_06: Of course.
- 7:21SPEAKER_07: So you so tell me about that.
- 7:23SPEAKER_07: Does it have white chocolate and pumpkin?
- 7:25SPEAKER_07: And the pumpkin sauce, yep, and then the cinnamon powder.
- 7:28SPEAKER_07: It is sauce.
- 7:29SPEAKER_07: I saw it yesterday in person.
- 7:31SPEAKER_07: It's not like the syrup.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's it's just sauce.
- 7:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's like chocolate sauce, kind of.
- 7:36SPEAKER_07: Wow.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's good.
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: That mixes up.
- 7:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: Something as well, if you notice for like her stuff doesn't settle too bad, and if it ever does, like people stir it and it'll that's because I train all of the baristas to mix, mix, mix until they can't see anything.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: Some coffee shops, if you like it'll have a huge layer of the colour.
- 7:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's a huge layer, and then you don't get it in the rest.
- 8:00SPEAKER_07: Now, I do like a small layer at the end for a treat.
- 8:06SPEAKER_07: Kind of like a hot fudge Sunday.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: If you drink it slower, you may get that.
- 8:09SPEAKER_07: You're right.
- 8:10SPEAKER_07: You're right.
- 8:11SPEAKER_07: Dude, I'm serious.
- 8:12SPEAKER_07: I'm I'm already feeling like, can't you see the light light up in my eyes?
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: Something's lighting up in your eyes.
- 8:19SPEAKER_07: It's the caffeine heading.
- 8:20SPEAKER_07: It is.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: So what's your guys' favorite to go drinks?
- 8:24SPEAKER_04: I was just getting like an Americana, which is just black coffee.
- 8:27SPEAKER_04: Just straight black coffee.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: Espresso shop.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: I get it basically every day.
- 8:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:33unknown: Yeah.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: And I will drink just straight espresso.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: When we were in Europe, that's all they do over there.
- 8:40SPEAKER_04: There was only like a couple shops that we saw that even had a latte.
- 8:44SPEAKER_06: We didn't get one, but and no no ice lattes over there.
- 8:47SPEAKER_06: Like they wouldn't know what you're asking for if you want to.
- 8:49SPEAKER_07: Oh, they they would probably just yeah.
- 8:51SPEAKER_07: But you know, I like espresso.
- 8:53SPEAKER_07: We would have that like on vacation, you know, they always have it, but and you put like a little brown sugar something that was good.
- 9:00SPEAKER_07: Does anybody ever get that just an espresso shot?
- 9:03SPEAKER_07: There are a couple people.
- 9:04SPEAKER_07: I wondered.
- 9:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 9:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 9:05SPEAKER_06: We saw them in like a double shot or a quad shot.
- 9:08SPEAKER_06: And yeah, there's there are some people that'll get that, and then they get like a little bit of half and half in in it.
- 9:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 9:14SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 9:14SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Well, hey, before, you know, before we jump into everything, these drinks are incredible, by the way.
- 9:20SPEAKER_07: 10 10.
- 9:21SPEAKER_07: 12 10.
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: But hey, let's let's do a pulse on business updates, right?
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: Because you guys are operating across three different towns right now, right?
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: So, Ryan, Lindy, give us a quick update on how Verdon, Gillespie, and Carnival are doing.
- 9:34SPEAKER_06: All of them are doing really well.
- 9:36SPEAKER_06: Verdon always is our strongest one.
- 9:39SPEAKER_06: The OG sis.
- 9:41SPEAKER_06: Yes, yes, yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: Post she did the other day that they were asking, like, what's your favorite shop?
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: And a lot of people were like, the OG.
- 9:47SPEAKER_04: OG.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: That's gonna be kind of funny.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: I'll mean I'll say it.
- 9:50SPEAKER_04: Verdon, uh, when Carlville's done, is gonna be we're gonna need to do some probably some construction revamps on it, Chris.
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: I'm sure you'll know all about that.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: Because it's gonna look not the same as the other two, because the other two are gonna be all brand new and nice, but people just love it.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's it's I guess it's kind of got the little bit of the the OG to it.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: It's got the cool wood counters, and uh no, it's just these it's gonna be some upgrades, that's all I'm saying.
- 10:14SPEAKER_07: But you know, sometimes when you've got an OG like that, people enjoy that kind of look, I guess you would say.
- 10:21SPEAKER_07: It it almost reminds them of like their childhood.
- 10:23SPEAKER_07: I I know I want to say nostalgic, but like if you think of like the 90s tone that you grow, I'm not saying that's what sips OG is, but people Yeah, people might not like the change.
- 10:33SPEAKER_07: They might not like it.
- 10:37SPEAKER_07: You know, I drove by to get my hair done the other day.
- 10:39SPEAKER_07: The line was out and I saw the flag and it was great.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I saw the new flag.
- 10:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 10:45SPEAKER_07: So Gillisp, you got something happening real soon.
- 10:49SPEAKER_06: Mm-hmm.
- 10:49SPEAKER_06: We're gonna do our grand opening and our ribbon cutting on Saturday at 10 a.m.
- 10:54SPEAKER_06: Everyone's invited.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: Homecoming drinks, too.
- 10:57SPEAKER_06: Oh, yes, it's gonna be a big weekend in Gillespie.
- 11:00SPEAKER_07: You guys, that's right, because my dad's team, you'll love this, Ryan.
- 11:03SPEAKER_07: My dad's team who went to state 50 years ago.
- 11:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, they were state champions, they're getting announced on the field on Friday.
- 11:10SPEAKER_07: I'm so upset I'm gonna be gone, I'm gonna miss it.
- 11:12SPEAKER_07: But you are gonna be so busy because I totally forgot about stock up on the scarecrow syrups, then for sure.
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 11:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_05: I've got more coming.
- 11:21SPEAKER_07: Yes, I love how you guys just celebrate community a lot.
- 11:24SPEAKER_07: Like you, you don't have to do ribbon cutting.
- 11:25SPEAKER_07: Like nobody has to do that.
- 11:26SPEAKER_07: Nobody has to do a soft opening, nobody has to do a grand opening, but you do.
- 11:30SPEAKER_07: But gives somebody it gives people something healthy to do.
- 11:34SPEAKER_07: I'm not knocking the bar or anything like that, but this is like healthy family fun.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, people love bringing their kids.
- 11:42SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, up to I mean, people will bring their kids in, you know, they're I don't know what you call them, carriers.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: Oh, they're drink their drink carriers?
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: No, the the kids seats.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: Oh no, that's what a carrier, pumpkin cater carrier.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: Right, you know, right.
- 11:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so you know I thought you were talking about drink carriers, but people do do that too.
- 12:02SPEAKER_04: They bring in their drink carriers, load them up.
- 12:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I mean the the the name could mean both things, yeah, and in the sips world.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: People love getting their drinks.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: Uh the big thing I think is uh sports before like um you know kids' sports games on the weekends or she did open like some Friday nights.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Um Friday nights have to be kind of hit or miss because you put a lot of stress on the team, you know.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: The open up at 6 a.m.
- 12:22SPEAKER_04: It's hard to stay open until 8 p.m.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: at night, you know, or later.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: I mean, depending.
- 12:26SPEAKER_06: They did it, they came through and and did it on the first home game for North Mac and Carlinville.
- 12:32SPEAKER_06: Both shops stayed open late.
- 12:33SPEAKER_06: That was before Gillisp was open.
- 12:35SPEAKER_06: But Gillispie was playing Carlimville, so it was perfect.
- 12:40SPEAKER_07: I can try to find people, yeah.
- 12:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we can try.
- 12:43SPEAKER_07: Hey, that's awesome that you do that because the kids like to do this, don't they?
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: The people love getting their drinks and going to the game.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: To the game, yeah.
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: So they allow outside drinks to the games?
- 12:54SPEAKER_07: Well, yeah.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, if it's sips, probably.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: If it's sips, there you go.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: Well, here's the thing.
- 12:58SPEAKER_07: I always would bring my Dr.
- 12:59SPEAKER_07: Pepper in there.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: That's why you guys are the official drink sponsor of the podcast, right?
- 13:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I mean, because it's sips.
- 13:04SPEAKER_07: I mean, that's all right, Mr.
- 13:06SPEAKER_07: Drew.
- 13:06SPEAKER_07: Oh, wait, Mr.
- 13:07SPEAKER_07: Drew, that's not your job anymore, but you're always my principal.
- 13:10SPEAKER_06: No, uh, ours too.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: Give us an update on Carnival.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: I saw concrete being poured today.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: The floor today, right?
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: The floor concrete is being poured today.
- 13:17SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 13:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Trades out there over the past week or so rolling hard.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: Give us an update.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: You can talk.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: I'll go.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: So, I mean, yeah, they got the concrete done today.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: Walls will start growing up the 28th.
- 13:28SPEAKER_04: That that's pretty much the update.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: Um we are gonna officially say the goal is to open the first week of December.
- 13:34SPEAKER_07: It's official.
- 13:35SPEAKER_07: Official drink sponsors.
- 13:37SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 13:38SPEAKER_04: Now, Chris, you know as good as I do that weather that's hopefully gonna happen.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: We may have snow at the end of October.
- 13:46SPEAKER_04: But I will also tell you so the goal is to have everything weathered in so the outside will look done.
- 13:53SPEAKER_04: Um exception of signs and stuff, because the idea is get outside completely done.
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: Weathered in.
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: That's how they're structuring the project.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: So and then they'll have a good month, hopefully, to uh they'll be doing the framing, but then there's gonna be a lot of are you doing concrete or gravel?
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: Outside, yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: It'll be we haven't decided yet.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: It could be asphalt, it it won't be gravel, it'll be asphalt or concrete.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: Gotta do how far the budget stretches.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: Yep, how far the budget stretches.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: I understand.
- 14:18SPEAKER_04: Yep, and um, because concrete is more expensive than the asphalt.
- 14:21SPEAKER_04: As well, it's permanent.
- 14:22SPEAKER_04: But it's yeah, it'll be permanent.
- 14:23SPEAKER_07: Oh, I didn't realize.
- 14:24SPEAKER_07: I never knew how that was with asphalt and concrete.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, asphalt, just like at the plaza that they're doing now, they're redoing that asphalt.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: It's gotta be reground and repaved.
- 14:34SPEAKER_07: Okay, that makes sense.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it will groove depending on what's going on in new asphalt.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: You gotta have a nice solid base of rock under there so it doesn't dip and wave on you as garbage trucks come in or your delivery trucks and stuff.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: And so yeah.
- 14:47SPEAKER_07: And both look very nice, but I mean I like the look of both.
- 14:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, just the carnival location.
- 14:52SPEAKER_04: It's gonna look it'll I I mean that's what I've kind of been telling people.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: It's gonna be the nicest building in town for a long time, I would think.
- 14:59SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 14:59SPEAKER_04: Um, right, it's gonna be so precious, you guys.
- 15:03SPEAKER_07: I can't wait to see that.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: Hey, it's awesome to see the business thriving, but what we really brought you know you in today is to talk about the community, right?
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: You guys do so much behind the scenes for the Midwest.
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: Let's start the past week.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: Talk to us about the 9-11 dedications and memorials you set up at the shops.
- 15:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so as we said last on the last episode, we were talking about a way that we there was people asking us saying, We you have American flags at other locations, what about Verdon?
- 15:32SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 15:32SPEAKER_04: So talk to Cody Smith, which owns the zone Verdon, and then Ryan Lido, which is a teacher at Northwestern now.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: He's been a teacher at multiple schools in the local area.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: They own part of the Verdon location.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: So asked them if they wanted to put up, um, do something at the Verdon location, and they, you know, immediately said, Yeah, let's go.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: And then we talked about doing it before 9-11, making that a priority.
- 15:53SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 15:53SPEAKER_04: Um, and they got it done, right, which was great.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: And uh we made a post about it, and it it was great.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: And yeah, an interesting thing, which you know, Verdon Girard area.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't see many flags along the main street, guys.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: That's something that after the fact, after it was up, Ryan had mentioned to me, he's like, Ryan, I don't think that there's any flags along Route Four at all.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: Through Vorders, and look, just look, guys.
- 16:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, so I guess it takes hopefully a step, and then maybe we might see another flag and another flag because you know, an American flag, I mean, there's there's no political statements there being made.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: It's just let's be proud of our country and put it up.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, 250 years of our country.
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so and the the investment, the time investment, you know, I'd even be happy to share how to do it.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, in a simple YouTube video, you just dig a hole, you get some concrete, you pour the the pour the post and you put it up.
- 16:41SPEAKER_07: You can get all that at Ace.
- 16:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's super simple.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: And I think that's where they got it.
- 16:45SPEAKER_04: I think they ordered the poll, but they got all the all the material from the local hardware store.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: So yeah, point being, it was great.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: It was great to see.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: It's a great uh thing to win.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: Like that post, people love it, man.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: I mean, and being proud of the country, I'd say is an important thing, yeah.
- 16:58SPEAKER_07: And I'm gonna tell you something.
- 17:00SPEAKER_07: When I was in eighth grade, obviously, when 9-11 happened.
- 17:03SPEAKER_07: So we lived it, you know, but a lot of these younger kids, they weren't alive, okay?
- 17:07SPEAKER_07: I mean, was were you?
- 17:09SPEAKER_07: I was one.
- 17:09SPEAKER_07: I was three.
- 17:11SPEAKER_04: I don't remember.
- 17:11SPEAKER_07: But so Lydia wasn't though.
- 17:13SPEAKER_07: Remember, we realized that last time.
- 17:15SPEAKER_07: Okay, so but so that's why I'm glad that you are bringing awareness to it to still remember, you know, the whole never forget, all the things.
- 17:23SPEAKER_07: So I I think it's an important part of our history that you young, trendy, cool people are making America cool again.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: Ryan, did you ever think you'd be trendy?
- 17:33SPEAKER_07: No, yeah, I don't know.
- 17:35SPEAKER_07: We met Lindy, obviously.
- 17:36SPEAKER_04: Lindy did, but you know, something I'll mention too is that an individual had come in and they were asking us, like, who's the patriotic one?
- 17:43SPEAKER_04: And the answer to that question was it's all of us.
- 17:46SPEAKER_04: And in the post, a line that we put was, you know, being patriotic is not something you do, it's who you are as a person.
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: And again, our freedom and patriotism and everything like that is very fragile.
- 17:57SPEAKER_04: I always say our communities are fragile, our country's fragile.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: And it's important that if we want to keep our country strong and our community strong, you know, we have to not just say it or do it for one day.
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: It just has to be something about who we are as people.
- 18:11SPEAKER_07: If I could give you a standing innovation right now, I would.
- 18:14SPEAKER_07: He's such a good speaker.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: Well, list off a couple other organizations or school programs or fundraisers that you guys have helped out here recently.
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: Man, they've been hitting us up a lot.
- 18:24SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Hey, I'll give a couple that we were just talking about uh Cade Vineyard.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: I'm sponsoring him.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: He's gonna be detailing my car suit, too.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty excited about that.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: But uh I made a joke we were talking about that earlier.
- 18:35SPEAKER_04: We don't need to go down the path, but Kate, you know what I'm talking about if you're listening.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Um Point Bing sponsored him for his uh jacket, CEO, McCupin Kai CEO.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: We talked about that on the first episode, Chris.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: Yep, love it.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: I know you're a sponsor as well.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Anyone that has the opportunity to get involved in that program, obviously do it.
- 18:49SPEAKER_04: I know she is too.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: She could talk about that, maybe give a shout out to the student.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: Additionally, I just sponsored.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: Man, I've got like three things.
- 18:56SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to remember.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: I just sponsored a Litchfield community thing that we're gonna be having the red Bronco in.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: I call it uh my State Farm car.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna do that and the parade.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: And you're all in your State Farm Red today.
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: Yep, I am wearing Ryan from State Farm.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: Um, if you notice there's no logo, so I had to be careful with that.
- 19:12SPEAKER_04: But I I can uh I can represent.
- 19:13SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 19:14SPEAKER_04: There's one more thing I just did.
- 19:15SPEAKER_04: That that's for two actual events, and then uh I can't remember.
- 19:18SPEAKER_04: There's one more thing that I did.
- 19:19SPEAKER_07: I know you just told us before we started, and now I can't remember.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: Lindy, you but sips is also Oh, yes, yeah.
- 19:26SPEAKER_06: The main things that we are doing right now is um in North Mac.
- 19:30SPEAKER_06: We sponsored the athletic um program.
- 19:33SPEAKER_06: So we had to make like a little commercial that gets played on the huge screen at the football games.
- 19:39SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 19:39SPEAKER_03: Jumbotron.
- 19:40SPEAKER_06: Yes, yeah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_06: And um, I think it gets played year-round actually for like all the sports events.
- 19:45SPEAKER_06: Sports events.
- 19:46SPEAKER_06: I have to see the commercial.
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: Yes, it's it's cool, yeah.
- 19:49SPEAKER_06: Oh my god, I can't wait.
- 19:50SPEAKER_06: That's so cool.
- 19:51SPEAKER_06: Yes, that's the big one that we did.
- 19:53SPEAKER_06: We also um just got hit up to do some coupons for the teachers staff at the school.
- 19:59SPEAKER_06: So we're doing it for K through five PTO and then also the middle and high school PTO.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: And that's North Mac.
- 20:06SPEAKER_06: No, so this is for Carlinville.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, Carlville, okay.
- 20:08SPEAKER_07: Yes, she's she's all over.
- 20:10SPEAKER_07: I love just like the kid was.
- 20:12SPEAKER_07: That's why I love this.
- 20:13SPEAKER_07: I love to hear, you know, from other towns.
- 20:15SPEAKER_07: And that's another thing.
- 20:16SPEAKER_07: Like, I kind of want to put a little call to action out specifically to Gillespie since they're new, you know, guys.
- 20:21SPEAKER_07: Like, we're here, we're ready.
- 20:22SPEAKER_07: I came to love this carnival.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: Carl, guys, we're diamond days.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: But hey, we're we're happy to do it.
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: I'm just joking.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: But hey, we have you know, we have to pace ourselves a little bit, but you know, anybody that needs anything, contact us because I mean, between me, her, and my dad, we've got different businesses.
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there could be yeah, we really say I'm gonna I can't disclose too many details.
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: We briefly talked about it last time privately, but we there could be a huge football camp coming this summer.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 20:51SPEAKER_07: We'll talk about that afterwards because I talked to that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_07: I'm so excited.
- 20:58SPEAKER_07: That's right.
- 20:59SPEAKER_07: But I'm sorry, Ryan, I wasn't meaning for people to hit you up for money.
- 21:03SPEAKER_07: I'm talking about if you would like to be featured on our podcast if your event and that's and go listen.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: That's exactly what this podcast is all about.
- 21:11SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: And you guys actually want to take this step further moving forward.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: And so talk to us about what's coming up, who are you partnering with next, and what's the new initiative you want to launch right here on this podcast.
- 21:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so we've, you know, highlighted a bunch of things going on for SIPS so far.
- 21:29SPEAKER_06: So now we're kind of wanting to shift that to other businesses or other things that are going on in the world.
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: Organizations too.
- 21:35SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 21:36SPEAKER_06: And so you can hit which ones we're doing.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: So Gracie Foundation, I believe she's going to be coming on sometime in October.
- 21:43SPEAKER_07: No, I haven't heard back from her yet.
- 21:45SPEAKER_07: She's obviously very busy.
- 21:46SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 21:46SPEAKER_07: So whenever she gets back, we'll she will be on.
- 21:49SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: Perfect.
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: So point being, we are open to let's talk like what Caitlin did this just this past weekend at the Lions Carnival.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: She was around, she was talking to people about what the Lions Carnival does for the kids.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: community talking about volunteers, talking about kids that were there that were just participating at the event and how it's exciting.
- 22:05SPEAKER_04: Additionally, there was one volunteer that was interviewed and he's like, I've been doing this for 36 years.
- 22:10SPEAKER_04: We love him.
- 22:11SPEAKER_04: Ron, we love you, buddy.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: Talking all the all in and also some contestants.
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: I believe you talked to the one that won last year and then the one that won this year.
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: And how I believe they raised$39,000.
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: I think that was what they said or something.
- 22:24SPEAKER_07: Wow.
- 22:24SPEAKER_07: I didn't hear.
- 22:25SPEAKER_07: I'm glad you shared.
- 22:26SPEAKER_07: That's all right.
- 22:27SPEAKER_04: I thought it was something like that.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't know but it if that's wrong, I apologize.
- 22:31SPEAKER_04: But it was a lot of money, right?
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: That's a lot of money just so everybody knows.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: Especially just for for one carnival that happens one time a year.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: So the point being I'm going to drop another name that we talked about, right?
- 22:42SPEAKER_04: Like the Squirrel.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: It would be amazing to highlight what they do for the community in Project Third Day.
- 22:47SPEAKER_04: You know, when they get closer to time.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: And if you guys would be interested to come on but people like that that are doing good things around our area, around the state.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah or even the one else on that the Midwest, right?
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: There's other people we've talked about too.
- 23:00SPEAKER_04: We'd love to come and highlight you with us, without us hey, that's up to you.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: But we're we want to open our segment up to others as well.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: We're trying to do as much as we can but we're only as strong as what we can handle.
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: So this is a stage where you can amplify what you're doing to help your organization because everybody that's that's giving back to the community is very passionate about doing that.
- 23:22SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:23SPEAKER_04: We see that and this is an opportunity for you to come on talk about your organization and say this is what I'm doing.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: This is what I'm trying to do and this is how you can help.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: I mean I am very and you guys are so community forward thinking.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: And we've talked about it was just you and I, Ryan on there The Guys Club.
- 23:40SPEAKER_03: That was a great podcast.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: Which yeah we had a good time I love that great podcast but I love I love you to death for saying that but but you know it it's not about the business it's about what the business does and impacts in the community and that you guys are truly the 10x partners sponsoring this community segment.
- 23:57SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: So that so that you guys can highlight what's going on.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah right you said a really good line Chris you said the community is not something you market to it's something you participate in.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 24:09SPEAKER_04: And for the people that are participating in that community right now great job keep it up and come on our podcast.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: But again this is a call to action to people that aren't as much this is your opportunity to just go do something right sponsor the McCoupen County CEO program right?
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: I think that'd be a great one.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: It's just you know you there's so many opportunities out there and again this this hopefully this segment is going to turn into us hopefully bringing awareness to hey there's other people doing good things too not just watching us do it right this is an opportunity for you to participate in it as well.
- 24:39SPEAKER_07: And I'm glad you said this because a lot of nonprofit organizations I mean people are who are having fundraisers they obviously are trying to make money so they don't have money.
- 24:49SPEAKER_07: So we all know that marketing and advertising you have to have it.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: Just so they can get their word out.
- 24:55SPEAKER_07: Yes you're doing it already for these people that probably wouldn't have the money to be able to to do this.
- 25:01SPEAKER_07: So I just it makes my heart so happy I want to tell you guys that because it being in marketing for so long and and advertising like it is heartbreaking when people can't afford to get some the word out of something that's so meaningful to them.
- 25:15SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 25:16SPEAKER_07: So thank you guys.
- 25:17SPEAKER_07: And just one more thing we got to make sure this ain't just Carlinville guys this is the Midwest.
- 25:23SPEAKER_07: You you got a fundraiser you got an event contact me Chris Ryan Lindy Clips all of us big dog right and this is a brilliant idea.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: Or trying to raise awareness for a good cause in the Midwest right in the Midwest or wherever because we have Zoom capabilities we can remote you in.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: You know what we sure do if you're not able to get to the Big Dog Studio right here in Cornville USA we can get you you know on on Zoom to talk about your fundraisers and your organization and stuff like that.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: But like Caitlin said you can reach out directly to the SIPs page you can reach out to Ryan or Lindy's individual pages if you're friends with him or to the big dog page the podcast page or to Caitlin or to me personally.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: You know let us know if you're we will we will schedule them out.
- 26:09SPEAKER_03: We'll make them happen and and that's what's awesome about that.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: So any last words about what's going on what you're wanting to see about the future on this and how people can jump in.
- 26:19SPEAKER_06: Really it's all just really exciting to see who's going to contact us what community events we can highlight out there.
- 26:26SPEAKER_06: We have a bunch of our own things of course that are coming up but again we really do want to highlight other community events.
- 26:33SPEAKER_06: So I'm just excited to see what comes of this I think I think it's all going to be good.
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: I think we've done a pretty good job so far just take it a step farther Chris hey that's the plan.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: We'll take it 10 more steps.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: How about that?
