  at the Red Arch in Manchester as we come to the end of their

  temporary residence at the Red Arch in Manchester City centre

  on the border of Cheetham Hill. However, I am not alone.

  And for once, I am not with Miles.

  Which is a a shock because we've been trying to think when was

  the last show we did that did not involve Miles.

  If you ignore the end of the last episode because he started

  with us and then he left. But as a proper full blown

  episode, this is effectively the end.

  But yes, I completely sidetracked we have from

  rambling about wrestling. The better half of that podcast.

  Some would say the better looking half of that episode.

  I mean, I've, I've, I've almost got someone like a correspondent

  to certain areas of shows now. So it's like Miles is in charge

  of the Merseyside seat. I've got my good friend Harry up

  in the northeast who is effectively my NE correspondent

  at this point when we talk about north.

  And we now have you ironically doing catch when it's probably

  the furthest or one of the furthest shows away from you.

  I mean, yeah, if you don't, if you don't include like the Wales

  promotions, yeah, or anything. Or Atomic, Yeah.

  But you know, if they really want to see an episode on Tidal,

  you know, I'm just around the corner from it, so.

  I I I could be there in June or July, yet I am not too sure.

  Depends on funds. But yeah, I am working on a

  crazy week. Some people know I've been to

  two concerts, had a funeral tucked right in between that and

  on Monday we took in Catch Pro Wrestling and despite being one

  whole night where they do 2 episodes, sorry to spoil the

  illusion for those there. These were two really good
• 4:33
  episodes, but we'll we'll delve more into that from the end of
• 4:41
  the show. Before we get to talking about
• 4:49
  overall and how it's been at Red Arch, we may as well go into the
• 4:55
  first of the two episodes recorded and this was episode 5
• 5:01
  of the Enigma series. Or catch Pro TV, depending which
• 5:10
  way Mark Adams wants to go with it.

  enigma series? But I said just edit it, just

  just have mouthing the words and then just clip it and add his

  own. But I got told that was too much

  that, putting it to one side and then just adding it.

  Yeah, I remember him. He moved because I think it was

  the same time you had Ethan Page was in Canada because he's his

  hometown is Hamilton. And then Dan Hauser went to

  Canada as well. And then even Paige moved to

  America. So it's kind of like to get

  away. From down house.

  He almost feels like that real. That was the thing that used to
• 6:40
  make the laugh over kind of like COVID down watching him.

  But yes, we we have episode 5 and we started off with a block
• 6:56
  a match. Block a, block a.
• 6:58
  Block A. Well remembered.

  So we have two matches in block A, which what we will do on this
• 7:10
  is look back at both of them and then we'll discuss things after.

  So the opening match of the show saw Henry Foust taking on Kevin
• 7:24
  Lloyd. Now going into these blockade
• 7:29
  matches we had Faust and Dec McCarthy on two points, Keenan
• 7:37
  Krishna on 4 points and sadly Kevin Lloyd had a duck egg.
• 7:51
  So it was interesting. I mean Lloyd was out of the
• 7:55
  competition and if Faust could win that would put the the
• 8:03
  pressure on Keenan because we didn't fully know if there was a
• 8:08
  tie break or what the tie break rule was.
• 8:13
  Effectively Faust would have kind of lost anyway if it was
• 8:18
  head to head with Keenan. But we will go into the first
• 8:24
  match and from my notes, because I don't have too many on the
• 8:31
  block a matches, actually I tell a lie, I do, just mostly on the
• 8:35
  second show. So we start off with Faust going
• 8:41
  for a kick and has his leg caught by Lloyd who backs into
• 8:46
  the ropes. However, he puts a massive kit
• 8:50
  to the head of Lloyd, puts Sexy Kev down for a brief moment and
• 8:57
  that absolutely reverberated around Red Arch.
• 9:02
  Lloyd then responds with a couple of German suplexes, tries
• 9:09
  to score with a submission, but Henry is very quick to get to
• 9:15
  the ring ropes. Kev smartly then begins to
• 9:20
  target the legs of his foe because most of the damage that
• 9:26
  Faust uses is through the use of his legs.
• 9:33
  Some really good technical wrestling by Kevin Lloyd in this
• 9:38
  match. Faust lands a strike however,
• 9:42
  but then gets caught in a leg lock.
• 9:45
  Henry starts throwing some palm strikes, but soon after, again
• 9:51
  Kevin is very well alert to this and using the technical side,
• 9:57
  grabs hold of the arm, locks it in while rolling into an arm
• 10:02
  bar, hooks the leg as well for a submission and forces Henry
• 10:07
  Faust to tap out, meaning that Henry's tournament is over and
• 10:16
  Kevin Lloyd gets 2 points on the board.
• 10:23
  We very quickly move into the second block A match.
• 10:29
  As block a, block a. As we have Big Deck McCarthy,
• 10:35
  the Jolly Green Giant as the Northern Irishman comes out
• 10:40
  laughing, mocking Henry fouls for losing and pretty much
• 10:46
  laughing at his misfortune. However, as Dec gets in the ring
• 10:53
  and speaks to the camera, Henry returns with a big bag of sweet
• 11:00
  and salted popcorn. Tells Dec that you have to win
• 11:07
  this to qualify. So if you don't win, that means
• 11:11
  you're like me, you're out the tournament.
• 11:14
  I think I'll watch this. I think I'll watch it up there.
• 11:19
  To which Faust joins Sam and me as well as John, who in spirit
• 11:26
  at least, or behind me as the as the photo is.
• 11:33
  So we effectively sat with Henry and he very nicely shared out
• 11:38
  the popcorn with us, which was very nice of him, as was the
• 11:44
  sweet popcorn. So we move into this contest.
• 11:52
  This was This was a fun contest, the crowd chanting, Henry's
• 11:57
  watching a bit of a take on Keenan who effectively is called
• 12:03
  The Watcher. Keenan frustrates deck for most
• 12:08
  of this contest, even going to the ropes to have the referee
• 12:13
  push deck away. And then we have Faust chanting,
• 12:19
  he's got till 10, he's got till 10.
• 12:22
  Keenan Krishna, he's got till 10, which I mean, it's a hell of
• 12:29
  a chant and it definitely got some traction.
• 12:34
  Keenan just basically a shit house is probably a good term
• 12:38
  for this particular match with him.
• 12:41
  Does everything possible to not wrestle.
• 12:45
  Dec loses his voice at one point shouting get in get in.
• 12:52
  Kitten eventually gets in. As he does deck is on him as
• 12:57
  quick as a slash. Tries to put Kitten in a hold
• 13:03
  but Keenan cries wolf holding his face saying ah ref he's done
• 13:07
  that he's break my eyes. I can't see.

  I can't see effectively what Keenan would do which was quite
• 13:15
  humorous. So Teddy Ray kind of comes over
• 13:19
  to him comforting him while the entire crowd chant cheat cheat
• 13:25
  cheat towards McCarthy. We then see Teddy Ray pulling
• 13:31
  out a towel, fanning Keenan Krishna on the outside who has a
• 13:38
  drink of water, and Teddy Ray effectively turns into Mickey
• 13:43
  from the Rocky films. The only thing he doesn't do is
• 13:48
  you're a wrecking machine because he was not a wrecking
• 13:53
  machine in this fact, he was trying to avoid him at all
• 13:56
  costs. Keenan then has Deck in a
• 14:01
  headlock and the catch Faithful all chant, tap, tap, tap.
• 14:07
  Deck unfortunately does get into the ropes.
• 14:13
  McCarthy tries to build some momentum but obviously Keenan is
• 14:18
  very crafty and Sly continues to hug the ropes.

  One particular spot is where he holds the bottom rope right in
• 14:30
  front of the bar red arch and we see McCarthy hitting a baseball
• 14:36
  slide into the back of Keenan, who effectively splats up
• 14:43
  against the bar wall. I've seen it a couple of Times
• 14:48
  Now. It's it's funny and it's not
• 14:53
  funny. It's just funny how it all
• 14:56
  happened. But as it is McCarthy then gets
• 15:01
  him back in. We get a bit of a contest where
• 15:06
  we have a couple of power bombs from McCarthy, the near falls,
• 15:12
  then he puts on 1/2. Crap.
• 15:18
  I'm trying to remember if it was a previous cat show where
• 15:22
  someone mentioned about the IT could have been catch how
• 15:28
  everyone seemed to turn into Michael Oku where everyone just
• 15:31
  resorted to like the half grab for like submissions.
• 15:37
  Because I think we've seen about four or five half grabs across
• 15:42
  this they show. But maybe it's coming back.
• 15:48
  He puts 1/2 grab on. The crowd are begging Krishna
• 15:52
  not to tap out because no one wants Deck to win.
• 15:57
  Krishna then hits multiple back elbows when he's in the grip of
• 16:02
  McAfee, who wants to do a German suplex.
• 16:06
  We get a reversal and a Deaf Valley driver, which gives
• 16:11
  Keenan some time to breathe. A collision between the two as
• 16:17
  we head down to the final 40 seconds.

  McAfee then hits the sit down powerbomb with four seconds left
• 16:27
  in the contest and we go to a time limit draw having McCarthy
• 16:35
  ending up on I think it's three points.
• 16:41
  KN Krishna finishes on five points and everyone barring
• 16:48
  McCarthy is a happy camper. We have Teddy Ray lifting Keenan
• 16:54
  on his shoulders and celebrating with the unlikely chant that we
• 17:04
  may ever hear in catch of Thank you Keenan and he bows to the
• 17:09
  crowd because he stopped McCarthy from winning.
• 17:14
  Like proper Tony Wright bows. Almost kind of like almost a
• 17:21
  flip now, just hasn't fully gone the whole hog with it.
• 17:30
  We'll talk, I'll get your reaction to the two matches, and
• 17:33
  then I'll discuss what happened with McAfee a bit after.
• 17:42
  So first of all, going back to Faust and Kev, it was really
• 17:49
  interesting going in because Kev Lloyd, since he came back to
• 17:55
  catch and because he came back at, we don't promote chaos, I
• 18:01
  believe because it was Big T's open challenge.
• 18:04
  Since then he has not recorded a single victory.
• 18:09
  So that's going from November, I believe, November or December to
• 18:16
  I. Think it was December.
• 18:18
  So it's about four or five months now.
• 18:22
  So going into it there was a real sense of Henry is probably
• 18:31
  like the favourite also because like of at that time we didn't
• 18:35
  know why it was. There was 2 leading theories
• 18:42
  about the tiebreak. It was either going to be head
• 18:44
  to head, which was the tiebreaker or it was going to be
• 18:50
  based on time out of the matches you won, what was the time?
• 18:55
  Whoever's the quickest time they go through which made it
• 18:59
  possible, you know, and it crossed my mind and a few of
• 19:04
  them minds. At some point we're about to see
• 19:06
  a squash match where Vouse takes care of Kev Lloyd Quick and this
• 19:15
  is going to be Kev's story going into the gauntlet.
• 19:18
  We know he was the only person before tonight who was confirmed
• 19:23
  for the Invitational gauntlet. This.
• 19:26
  By the fact of. It was impossible for him to win
• 19:29
  the Enigma series at this point, so.
• 19:35
  But then when we got the match it was, it was weirdly a
• 19:38
  pleasant surprise, even though it shouldn't have been, because
• 19:41
  you know how good these two are. But because of all the
• 19:47
  tournament drama, I think only a few was expected to be a proper
• 19:53
  match. People were expecting
• 19:55
  shenanigans, the people expecting Declan to run in to
• 19:58
  cost Faust, but nobody just had an actual match and I think that
• 20:02
  was the best. I think they could have done
• 20:05
  because it was a really good match, but I think everyone
• 20:08
  would try to like over bucket in their minds when just a normal
• 20:13
  solid match was good. And I loved the storytelling
• 20:16
  about the leg and how because Kev is like, you know, a
• 20:20
  technician. Despite all the skill Faust has,
• 20:26
  when he's up against someone technical, he does falter.
• 20:30
  And we saw that because they've gone through the whole
• 20:34
  tournament of Keenan playing the mind games and outsmarting his
• 20:40
  opponents. And of course, the only person
• 20:44
  Faust loses his two in the tournament is Keenan.
• 20:49
  So he's lost to the two, you know, wrestlers in his block
• 20:56
  that thinks smart, while Declan, he is smart.
• 20:59
  He doesn't blow strategy, but his main form of attack is his,
• 21:04
  the fact that he's the strongest in the block.
• 21:08
  So yeah, it was really solid and it got everyone involved because
• 21:13
  unlike overnights where it maybe takes a match or two to get
• 21:16
  going in every match on this card was important in the
• 21:21
  tournament because you will know an outcome based on no matter
• 21:27
  who is fighting. You'll know the fates of like
• 21:30
  one or two people already. And then obviously the fact that
• 21:37
  bled instantly over like I think Kev get, I think the door shuts
• 21:43
  as Kev goes to the back and immediately they hit McCarthy's
• 21:46
  theme music. I won't be surprised.
• 21:48
  I haven't seen the Patreon but I won't be surprised if Ant were
• 21:53
  to catch Deck and Kev just like walk, having to walk past each
• 22:01
  other well. The the thing was, debt came out
• 22:05
  and you had Lloyd was by the bar because as debt was coming, he
• 22:11
  basically went well done, so well done, well done.
• 22:14
  And Kev just had to look as if to say, who the fuck's he?
• 22:20
  And then just walked on just kind of shaking his head,
• 22:23
  thinking I didn't do it for you, I did it for me.
• 22:28
  And then Henry disappears. And then Dec takes a bit of
• 22:34
  time, just kind of wasting a about 10 seconds shouting at the
• 22:41
  crowd, saying, yeah, I I only have to win one more.
• 22:45
  I just have to win this one and that's it.
• 22:48
  And then as I say, Henry came out just said, like, you have to
• 22:53
  win this. It's it doesn't matter.
• 22:56
  You have to be Krishna in some way.

  But what was your take on that match actually?
• 23:06
  I really enjoyed it because we this block A specifically has
• 23:14
  all been really good technical wrestling like with the
• 23:20
  personalities in block B because the Am I allowed to swear on
• 23:26
  this? I mean, I've already fucking
• 23:28
  swore so. Because all four members of
• 23:32
  block BA little shit stirrers block A, you know, was taken
• 23:37
  more seriously. Not it's not a bad thing.
• 23:41
  It's just that's just like the between is like, you know, like
• 23:46
  like pride fighters in a way. So it would nice that we had at
• 23:51
  least one match in Block A which didn't take itself seriously at
• 23:56
  all. And it would just, it's nice
• 23:58
  that they knew when they couldn't get away with the
• 24:05
  bollocks, could they started properly wrestling each other at
• 24:09
  the right time. Yeah, I feel like.

  Because you had it was sort of like I can't remember off the
• 24:18
  top of my head if they did this or not, but I do think they did
• 24:20
  follow the rule of freeze to a tee.

  Well, like he wouldn't try the same thing.

  Like he rolled out the ring three times, grabbed the roads
• 24:28
  three times, you know, so they didn't overplay any of the
• 24:33
  things and he try and kept it creative.

  I also like. I was going to say that was one
• 24:39
  of the the good things they did on this is that very early on
• 24:44
  you knew what Keenan was doing. He was trying to avoid him and
• 24:49
  waste as much time as possible, but they did it where it didn't
• 24:54
  feel overly repetitive. You thought, right, how is he
• 24:58
  going to delay? What's his next delay tactic?

  And it worked every time. And you never felt oh come on,
• 25:07
  just just just go on. This is getting ridiculous or
• 25:10
  boring now. At never point did that ever
• 25:14
  happen because they did it so well.
• 25:17
  But you also had Dec doing well as well, getting massively
• 25:22
  frustrated. So when Keenan's wasting as much
• 25:26
  time dex thinking, come on, just get in the ring, I have to, I
• 25:29
  have to eat you within 6 minutes or 5 minutes.

  I did like the fact that Mark said each minute.

  I think just like normally did wait until 5 minutes.

  I think Mark said each minute because I just remember him
• 25:46
  going 9 minutes and Declan looking so annoyed that he
• 25:51
  hasn't been able to do anything and already a minute has passed.

  Because he on the Patreon, obviously you get the commentary

  and you can hear Death asking him how long is to go.

  So as as he's asking him, he's saying, I'll let you know and

  it's like 5 minutes, I'll let you know the time and you can

  just hear this how long to go. And it's just deck asking Mark

  how long to go. And obviously we get the 5
• 26:18
  minutes and then two minutes and then kind of like 30 seconds and
• 26:24
  things. But everything in this entire
• 26:29
  match worked, be it the the announcements, the the shift
• 26:38
  hours from Keenan Deck, how kind of like he responded to
• 26:43
  everything. It's one of the things I I've
• 26:48
  said this about catch before. It's the one of very few
• 26:53
  promotions I can think of where they do little things, but it
• 26:59
  works perfectly every time. It's like some promotions will
• 27:04
  try to be a bit kind of too smart for their own good and it
• 27:12
  can backfire on them. But when Catch do like these
• 27:16
  little kind of nuanced things, it works so, so well.
• 27:21
  And it's one of the the massive loss points that I've plot
• 27:26
  against. Catch it also.
• 27:29
  Doesn't you know, it also doesn't take away from either of
• 27:32
  them. Now.

  It's like if, if, if Keenan was doing this all throughout the
• 27:38
  tournament, it would just make Keenan look weak and then we
• 27:41
  wouldn't want to see the final. But he only did it.

  And he only did it because he's facing the one guy who like, you
• 27:49
  know, who like directly counters his style of wrestling, like,
• 27:56
  you know, because Keenan's all about, you know, the precise
• 28:00
  strikes. But that's not going to do much
• 28:01
  when you know Declan's built like a shit house.
• 28:05
  And and the thing was, it worked.

  Yeah, like it just clever, like simple booking that a lot of
• 28:14
  promotions seem to get wrong. You know you don't appreciate
• 28:19
  the fundamentals until you see a promotion.

  Do it right? Wrestling is simple.

  That's that's all that needs to be said and cats do it very,
• 28:32
  very well. Any who after the match Dec asks
• 28:41
  for the microphone and is constantly being cut off by the
• 28:46
  crowd who chant 1.1.1 point. A couple people chant one point.

  I think it's Adam says, that's a very original chant.

  I like that. And then he eventually speaks

  into the the microphone and says, well, some fans are on him

  still. And he and he shouts at one of

  them, you've only got one point. And then he replies.

  He replies back I'm glad you can count to 1 which I thought was a

  good comeback. However, he blames his failings

  on one man in the Ginger head GIMP, referring to Henry Faust.

  He then challenges Henry to a match on May 25th at Gimme
• 29:46
  Danger in a Pure Rules match, which if you're a technical
• 29:53
  wrestling fan, this will be right up North St, which I as
• 30:01
  I'm particularly looking forward to.

  Yes, yes, yeah, I, I won't say what I've just been sent, but

  yes. So the thing I will say very
• 30:21
  quickly on this to bring this section to its conclusion is the
• 30:29
  only time I can recall having bad guy versus bad guy and it
• 30:36
  not having the fans bored. If anything, it seemed to have
• 30:40
  more interaction than quite a few of the matches we had.

  Not to say that the crowd was quiet or anything, but this
• 30:50
  particular I think there was more investment in this match
• 30:52
  than possibly a few a few of the others because everyone just
• 30:58
  wanted Deck to lose. I think I.

  Thought I thought you'd frozen then because there is no
• 31:06
  movement from you. No, my brain was just trying to
• 31:09
  think of the sentence I wanted to say.

  I do think it was. I do think this show is smartly
• 31:18
  booked because out of the free out of the four tournament
• 31:22
  matches, three of them have a same alignment facing because
• 31:29
  we've we had two face versus faces and one hill versus hill.

  So but I do think they smartly bought to this night
• 31:36
  specifically, especially since it's the lead into Gimme Danger,
• 31:43
  which is set to look like a Corker.
• 31:45
  But we'll get to that in a MO 40 minutes later probably.

  We were probably about an hour, an hour.

  I know. We then had what should have
• 31:57
  been the main event of episode 5.

  However, we had Aitenstein coming out with a chain and said

  that Ian Skinner has yet to sign the contract for the dog collar

  match, which is meant to take place at Gimme Danger.

  Steen informs everyone that he signed the contract in his own
• 32:23
  blood. Because if you can remember back
• 32:27
  to the last show and episode 4, we saw an incident after where
• 32:37
  Skinner and Steen got into it outside and Skinner hitting
• 32:43
  Steen in the head with a slate or some ceramic, I think we can
• 32:51
  say because it seemed like a ceramic cut Stein open.
• 32:58
  And that's kind of like how the episode ended.

  So anyway Skinner comes out in his trench coat with fans
• 33:08
  calling him Cluso in reference to Pink Panther or as I think
• 33:15
  one of the Ogden shouted Inspector Gadget and had the
• 33:20
  catch faithful humming the tune of Inspector Gadget towards Mr
• 33:25
  Skinner. Ian eventually talks as he kind
• 33:32
  of just stands there for a long while almost like a statue just
• 33:37
  not saying anything. He then claims that family and
• 33:43
  friends have said don't get involved in this match as it's
• 33:47
  too dangerous, tries his best to try and wriggle out of this
• 33:53
  particular stipulation, even offering to wrestle a different
• 33:59
  type of match that isn't a dog collar one as he doesn't want to
• 34:03
  sign the contract. Steen then cuts him off and says
• 34:08
  that Catch is the only promotion that people actually pay to see
• 34:13
  him in, because at other places he is.
• 34:18
  And I quote a fucking joke. The other ones always seen as
• 34:24
  one. So Skinner takes his time,
• 34:29
  deliberates whether to sign, still unsure, throws the pen at
• 34:35
  Ayton and cracks him in the head with the I've said the Ledger
• 34:39
  because it sounds more posture than having a clipboard.
