Transcript
- Dana (AI host): Your team lives in Microsoft Teams. Your customer data lives in HubSpot. Dana (AI host): And someone is always tabbing back and forth. Rob (AI host): The HubSpot Agent for Copilot lets them ask about deals and tickets right inside Copilot. Rob (AI host): Read only, though. And that detail matters. Dana (AI host): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped. Let's go. Narrator (AI voice): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped, presented by Sidekick Strategies. Narrator (AI voice): Your hosts, Rob and Dana, are AI. Narrator (AI voice): The voices are synthetic, the research is real, and humans check every claim before it reaches you. Rob (AI host): Welcome in! I'm Rob, and as always, Dana and I are AI hosts. Dana (AI host): So today it's one AI telling you about another AI that talks to a third AI. Dana (AI host): We're getting crowded in here. Rob (AI host): It's a busy neighborhood. Okay, what is it? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page says you use the HubSpot Agent for Copilot to access your CRM data from Microsoft 365 Copilot with natural language prompts. Dana (AI host): Where exactly? Rob (AI host): Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, and Copilot inside Microsoft Teams. On web, desktop, and mobile. Dana (AI host): And what does it pull? Rob (AI host): Our June research says Copilot fetches live data from HubSpot when you ask. Rob (AI host): Nothing is indexed or stored in Microsoft 365. Dana (AI host): Okay, give me real examples. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page names three. Sales teams review active deals sorted by close date. Rob (AI host): Support reps view their assigned tickets by priority and creation date. Rob (AI host): And customer success compares resolution approaches across support channels. Dana (AI host): Nice. Now, how did it get here? Because I think it had a different name. Rob (AI host): It did. Rob (AI host): In April 2026, our research covered the HubSpot Connector for Microsoft 365 Copilot, as a private beta. Rob (AI host): You had to apply or be invited. Dana (AI host): And who could join? Rob (AI host): All HubSpot tiers, Free through Enterprise, but you needed a Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on license. Dana (AI host): Then June. Rob (AI host): Then by June, our research covered it under a new name, HubSpot Agent for Copilot. Rob (AI host): A native connector for any HubSpot customer with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, joining HubSpot's connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Dana (AI host): And today? Is it still a beta? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page, last updated September 24, lists all products and plans and doesn't call it a beta. Rob (AI host): But we couldn't find a dated announcement of general availability, so we won't put a date on it. Dana (AI host): Fair. And the Microsoft side? Rob (AI host): You need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, or the Copilot Chat add-on license with an eligible Microsoft 365 license. Rob (AI host): And a Microsoft 365 admin must add the HubSpot Agent to your tenant. Dana (AI host): So two sets of admins. Rob (AI host): Two. The Microsoft admin adds it and picks who can use it. Rob (AI host): Then a HubSpot Super Admin, or someone with App Marketplace permissions, sets up the connection the first time and picks the allowed permissions. Dana (AI host): Okay. Quick break, then the part where our sources disagree. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Hey, it's George B. Thomas from Sidekick Strategies. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Full honesty, this is my AI voice clone, made with my permission. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): The HubSpot Agent for Copilot won't fix a messy CRM. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): If your deals are missing close dates, Copilot will surface that gap, loudly, right in Teams. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): At Sidekick, we fix what's broken and build what's missing, and we train your humans to run it. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Want your HubSpot data ready for every AI tool your team uses? George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Book a free strategy call at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): And we're back. You promised a disagreement. Rob (AI host): I did. Our June research summary says it can trigger actions back in HubSpot. Rob (AI host): Our April research said it doesn't write back. Rob (AI host): And HubSpot's help page says it's limited to read only access. Rob (AI host): It can't create or edit data in HubSpot. Dana (AI host): Wait, so which one? Rob (AI host): We're going with HubSpot's help page. Rob (AI host): The help page also says you get insights in Copilot and then take actions back in HubSpot. Rob (AI host): So you act in HubSpot yourself. Dana (AI host): Got it. Read in Copilot, do the work in HubSpot. Rob (AI host): And there's one more wrinkle on the same page. Dana (AI host): Of course there is. Rob (AI host): The objects table shows read access to tickets, quotes, invoices, lists, and engagements like calls and emails. Rob (AI host): But a FAQ on the same page says insights cover contacts, companies, deals, and their associations. Dana (AI host): So does it see tickets or not? Rob (AI host): The page says both. So test it in your own portal before you rely on it. Rob (AI host): And if your account has Sensitive Data turned on, Copilot can't access any engagement data. Dana (AI host): Okay. Permissions? Rob (AI host): HubSpot says it respects the user permissions defined in HubSpot. Rob (AI host): People only see the contacts or deals they're allowed to view. Dana (AI host): And training? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page says prompts, responses, and data accessed through Microsoft Graph aren't used to train the models behind Microsoft 365 Copilot. Dana (AI host): Any gotcha for agencies juggling a bunch of portals? Rob (AI host): Yes. You can only connect one HubSpot account at a time to a Copilot account. Rob (AI host): To switch, you disconnect and reconnect. Dana (AI host): That's going to annoy somebody. Rob (AI host): And HubSpot's help page is honest about this. Copilot can make mistakes. Rob (AI host): Keep a human in the loop and ask for citations you can check in HubSpot. Dana (AI host): Okay. Monday. Three things. Rob (AI host): One. Confirm your Microsoft licenses first, Copilot or the Copilot Chat add-on. Dana (AI host): Two? Rob (AI host): Two. Rob (AI host): Get your Microsoft admin to add the HubSpot Agent, and have a HubSpot Super Admin pick the permissions. Dana (AI host): And three? Rob (AI host): Three. Rob (AI host): Ask it about tickets and engagements on a test question, and check the answer against HubSpot. Dana (AI host): License, admins, then test. Love it. Dana (AI host): That's our show. Dana (AI host): HubSpot in Copilot went from a private beta connector to the HubSpot Agent for Copilot on all HubSpot plans. Dana (AI host): Read only, so the doing still happens in HubSpot. Rob (AI host): Our full research is on the HubSpot Updates page at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): Thanks for listening to Sidekick's What Just Shipped. Rob (AI host): See you next update. Narrator (AI voice): Sidekick's What Just Shipped is presented by Sidekick Strategies, with AI hosts Rob and Dana and AI-generated music.
