- 0:09Speaker 1: What's happened to everyone? Welcome into a special edition of
- 0:13Speaker 1: The check O Daily. I'm your host, Eagles Beat reporter
- 0:16Speaker 1: Andrew de Checko, and look, this is a very special episode.
- 0:21Speaker 1: And it's a special episode because I'm joined by NFL consultant,
- 0:25Speaker 1: founder of sack House. You may know him as the
- 0:28Speaker 1: Sax Sense, and that would be Javon Gobiy, who's been
- 0:31Speaker 1: kind enough to join me for a few minutes. Javan,
- 0:33Speaker 1: I appreciate you carving out.
- 0:34Speaker 2: A few minutes, and I appreciate appreciate an opportunity to
- 0:38Speaker 2: get on here Andrew the lovely stude man, so I'm
- 0:41Speaker 2: so excited about him.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate that. And what the folks should know
- 0:45Speaker 1: is that you and I never stopped working because once
- 0:47Speaker 1: I caught wind of the testing numbers at the HBCU
- 0:51Speaker 1: Showcase and IPP Pro Day, I told myself I got
- 0:55Speaker 1: to learn more about who ar Bernard? So what did
- 0:57Speaker 1: I do? You and I got in contact and it
- 0:59Speaker 1: was Easter Sun where we got on a call always
- 1:01Speaker 1: yeah and yeah. So we're always working and you provided
- 1:05Speaker 1: some really good background and we're gonna get a little
- 1:07Speaker 1: bit deeper into that. But first a little bit about yourself.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Sure, So I h man, I think this this year
- 1:15Speaker 2: fourteen for me twelve or fourteen, I lose com man.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But I've been so fortunately blessed over the past twelve
- 1:22Speaker 2: years to work with just so many phenomenal guys man.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And you know, I truly don't like to take any
- 1:27Speaker 2: credit for all the work that I've done because these
- 1:29Speaker 2: guys have made it easy.
- 1:30Speaker 3: But it's been fun.
- 1:31Speaker 2: But I've been super blessed again work with so many
- 1:34Speaker 2: great guys over the years, you know, some pro bowlers,
- 1:37Speaker 2: even Hall of.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Famers, and it's been a fun ride.
- 1:39Speaker 2: When I got into training not too long after I
- 1:41Speaker 2: got out of college, and I like to think I
- 1:44Speaker 2: said before that my college teammates were my first clients
- 1:48Speaker 2: because I was always the teammate that was bringing guys
- 1:50Speaker 2: in later on after the day after practice and put
- 1:52Speaker 2: us some extra work on the weekends. So you know,
- 1:55Speaker 2: I feel like I've always really had those intelligibles to
- 1:58Speaker 2: do the things that I do now, and teaching always
- 2:00Speaker 2: been a passion of mind. So I'm just super blessed
- 2:02Speaker 2: to get a chance to teach the system, and the
- 2:05Speaker 2: system self develops a great path, rushes Man.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So again, it's been fun.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And you've been involved with the International Player Pathway Program
- 2:13Speaker 1: for I believe you told me four years now what
- 2:15Speaker 1: was your entry into that?
- 2:17Speaker 3: Correct.
- 2:18Speaker 2: So I've been a consulting NFL for about five years
- 2:20Speaker 2: now and the IVP program is one of the programs
- 2:23Speaker 2: that I work across. And yeah, our goal is we
- 2:27Speaker 2: want to continue to find international talent. So I'm on
- 2:30Speaker 2: the board of selecting the guys that we choose to
- 2:33Speaker 2: come and do our pro Day I'm sorry, pro DA
- 2:37Speaker 2: training and then from there get opportunity to participate in
- 2:41Speaker 2: Combine every year. So it's been fun, man, and each year,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know, we found a bunch of great guys.
- 2:46Speaker 3: But this this is a really special year.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And I think we knew months and months ago that
- 2:51Speaker 2: we probably be at this point, and so you know,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I love the fact that we got a chance to
- 2:54Speaker 2: see this come to fruition.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So by now, folks probably know a little bit about
- 2:59Speaker 1: the seventh round pick who or Bernard, but you have
- 3:02Speaker 1: a very unique insight into that. So if you wouldn't
- 3:06Speaker 1: mind providing a little bit of background into r and
- 3:09Speaker 1: his upbringing and things like that, because it's truly a
- 3:12Speaker 1: remarkable story.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Sure, So look, I want to start off with this, Andrew,
- 3:16Speaker 2: because I've seen so many posts where one of his
- 3:19Speaker 2: teammates is helping him put on the helmet and they're like,
- 3:21Speaker 2: you don't know how to put on the himet. The
- 3:23Speaker 2: guys go wearing a helmet for the past two and
- 3:24Speaker 2: that months. Everybody knows who plays football. If you have
- 3:27Speaker 2: your gloves, it's hard to strap up, so he knows
- 3:29Speaker 2: how to put on him people, let's start with that.
- 3:32Speaker 2: But now it's been a great journey over the past
- 3:34Speaker 2: six months getting to know Or again. Like you said,
- 3:37Speaker 2: I got an opportunity to meet him last year in October.
- 3:40Speaker 2: So with the with the NFL IPP program, we host
- 3:44Speaker 2: a regional combine out of London every year at the
- 3:48Speaker 2: NFL Academy. And Or was actually founded two years ago.
- 3:52Speaker 2: He just wasn't old enough to hear of the program,
- 3:54Speaker 2: so he kind of was just waiting in a whole
- 3:56Speaker 2: for a year. And then this pass he had the
- 3:59Speaker 2: opportunity with a retest again, and you know, I thought
- 4:02Speaker 2: there was no doubt that he'd get a chance to
- 4:04Speaker 2: to you know, to to participate and come out in
- 4:06Speaker 2: Florida and train for twelve weeks and to prepare for
- 4:09Speaker 2: the International Showcase. But again it's been a blessing, like
- 4:12Speaker 2: to really get to know who are amongst all the
- 4:15Speaker 2: rest of the guys in our group, but to get
- 4:17Speaker 2: to know his background and where he's come from, and
- 4:19Speaker 2: you know what motivates him.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Like, the dude literally came from absolutely nothing.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And you know, one of the things he told me
- 4:24Speaker 2: early on was, you know, he he his family didn't
- 4:27Speaker 2: have anything, and you know, he didn't really become an
- 4:31Speaker 2: athlete until he started to learn how to hunt. You know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: he had to literally go hunt food and that's what
- 4:36Speaker 2: got him into sports, you know, just getting up running
- 4:38Speaker 2: and being physical. So that's where it started for him.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And you know one thing that I thought was very
- 4:43Speaker 2: intriguing as well is he expressed that a lot of
- 4:45Speaker 2: days that they didn't have foods, they would just eat cornville. So,
- 4:48Speaker 2: like I said, the dude really comes from absolutely nothing.
- 4:51Speaker 2: And you know, he really earned every opportunity that he
- 4:53Speaker 2: has today. And you know, I know that business, you
- 4:55Speaker 2: know what comes great praise and gloria. That's always screwed
- 4:59Speaker 2: me as well. A lot of people, you know, may
- 5:01Speaker 2: not believe he deserves this opportunity, but I'm telling you
- 5:04Speaker 2: with the opportunity that he that he's had to maximize
- 5:07Speaker 2: to get to this point. He's killed it and you
- 5:09Speaker 2: know and overachieved ten thousand times. So I'm super excited
- 5:13Speaker 2: for him. But he's a great guy, you know, huge personality,
- 5:16Speaker 2: So I can't wait for you know, Eagles fans just
- 5:18Speaker 2: continue to get to know him as a person. But
- 5:20Speaker 2: he loves music, he loves food, He's a goofster, you know,
- 5:23Speaker 2: he loves the joke. And again, I think he's gonna
- 5:26Speaker 2: be a great pro for years to come. And you know,
- 5:29Speaker 2: he's in a great situation with Clint Hurt and you know,
- 5:31Speaker 2: great defense with Vic. So I'm super excited for him
- 5:35Speaker 2: and we should expect big things that are out of Uar,
- 5:38Speaker 2: you know, within the next couple of years.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'm a big music guy myself. What kind of music
- 5:42Speaker 1: is he into?
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he likes it all, which surprised me. He likes
- 5:45Speaker 3: it all.
- 5:45Speaker 2: You know, he likes his traditionally No, so Burna Boy
- 5:48Speaker 2: is you know, famous artist out of Nigeria, so you
- 5:51Speaker 2: know that's I know, that's one of his guys for sure.
- 5:53Speaker 3: He loves Burnaba.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But now he basked in a little bit of everything Man,
- 5:56Speaker 2: he was from, you know, so we had a chance
- 5:58Speaker 2: to host him this year in our reach out programs.
- 6:00Speaker 2: He was with us training for twelve weeks preparing for
- 6:03Speaker 2: the showcase in Man. A little bit of country. He
- 6:06Speaker 2: bobbed his head to a little bit of rock music
- 6:07Speaker 2: and some rap music. So now he a fun god
- 6:09Speaker 2: man And like I said, he's really got a lot
- 6:12Speaker 2: of energy and he is a true leader.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So that's what I'm excited to.
- 6:15Speaker 2: See how he continues to grow to that role as
- 6:17Speaker 2: it gets more experience.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And when we last spoke on the phone, you said
- 6:20Speaker 1: that he was looking for a Nigerian place in Philadelphia
- 6:23Speaker 1: because he was craving food, that kind of food.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah, any luck he found.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I don't know the name of the place, but he
- 6:30Speaker 2: told me that it might have been someone in the personnel.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Somebody gave him some recommendation. So he did find something,
- 6:36Speaker 2: so he was excited about He said it was phenomenal.
- 6:38Speaker 2: So I'm sure he'll be back there again. But again
- 6:40Speaker 2: whatever locals places you know, send it to him, spam him,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure he loved to be there because
- 6:46Speaker 2: again he's a big foodie and you know, I know
- 6:48Speaker 2: him eating the tradition of food.
- 6:49Speaker 3: It's always important to him.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And obviously he's no stranger to adversity. You mentioned this,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and he did in his post draft availability via zoom
- 6:58Speaker 1: that he lost his father at an and you mentioned
- 7:01Speaker 1: he came up with the you know, with his upbringing
- 7:05Speaker 1: and things like that, he was in a position where
- 7:07Speaker 1: he could change the lives of his family. And I
- 7:10Speaker 1: think that coming into this situation where everything's totally new,
- 7:14Speaker 1: he's no stranger to adversity.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Sure, And I think that's why he's really built for this,
- 7:20Speaker 2: because again, this is an adjustment for him, living in
- 7:23Speaker 2: my Jara his entire life and spending absolutely no time
- 7:25Speaker 2: in the States up until January, right, So everything is
- 7:29Speaker 2: an adjustment for him. But I don't think any of
- 7:31Speaker 2: this is harder than the things that he grew up enduring.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So he'll be fine, man. That's That's one thing he
- 7:36Speaker 2: did tell me expressed about his dad when I met
- 7:38Speaker 2: him and interviewed him early on in October of last year.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And you know, from day one when we started our
- 7:43Speaker 2: prejift program, he was like, Coach, I'm not going back
- 7:45Speaker 2: to my jail. He's like, whatever it takes, I'm not
- 7:47Speaker 2: going back and you know, I could feel the energy
- 7:49Speaker 2: radiating off him.
- 7:50Speaker 3: He has that area, man, and he earned every single thing.
- 7:53Speaker 3: But no, he has no.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Rookie to adversity and he's very resilient. So again that's
- 7:59Speaker 2: what people should expect out of him. And that's why
- 8:02Speaker 2: I believe that he's going to be, you know, one
- 8:04Speaker 2: of the great eagles for a long time because again,
- 8:08Speaker 2: how he looks at life is these experiences in our
- 8:10Speaker 2: heart when he's gone through. So now it's just all
- 8:12Speaker 2: about him figuring it out and I have no doubt
- 8:14Speaker 2: that it will.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So he says to you, coach, I'm not going back
- 8:17Speaker 1: to Nigeria. What was your reaction.
- 8:20Speaker 3: He gave me goosebumps.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Honestly, it gave me goosebump because I can feel, you know,
- 8:24Speaker 2: the desperation when he told me this, and uh, you
- 8:27Speaker 2: know again I can relate to him. You know, I
- 8:29Speaker 2: grew up inner city South Florida, growing up in Miami
- 8:33Speaker 2: and had a lot of.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Challenges with myself.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So I really saw myself in him, and uh, that's
- 8:37Speaker 2: why I believe in Dif from day one.
- 8:38Speaker 3: So I have no doubts he's He's never some great stuff.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Now, how did he first get onto your radar because
- 8:45Speaker 1: you said when he did, he still was a be
- 8:47Speaker 1: I believe you said two years younger than the required
- 8:50Speaker 1: age for the combine.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Sure, so I got to give some pops to market man.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Market is our international scout, and you know, we got
- 8:59Speaker 2: a lot of guys who actually work on that side
- 9:01Speaker 2: for Pat long, but no, Martin's our international scout and
- 9:04Speaker 2: Mark founded him.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And you know, he was a former basketball player. I
- 9:10Speaker 3: joke around with him.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I'd imagine if he was, you know, a really good player,
- 9:15Speaker 2: he'd still be playing basketball. And I joke around and
- 9:17Speaker 2: I'm like, were you out there just getting rebounds? Like,
- 9:19Speaker 2: just be honest, were you shoogaring the ball? You just
- 9:21Speaker 2: getting rebounds? But he was, you know, playing basketball growing up.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Clearly he don't look like a basketball player, so you know,
- 9:28Speaker 2: it worked out perfect him to get this opportunity. But
- 9:30Speaker 2: ye know, Mark actually founded him a while back, you know,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and we host the some some regional camps in Africa
- 9:38Speaker 2: every year, so that's where he was first found. And
- 9:41Speaker 2: again from that day he never looked back. And like
- 9:44Speaker 2: I said, that was the interesting thing. He was not
- 9:46Speaker 2: old enough, but he had a year to kind of
- 9:49Speaker 2: develop his own sense of what he thought football was,
- 9:52Speaker 2: and so he put it in a lot of work,
- 9:55Speaker 2: you know, right, So again he's not coming from a
- 9:57Speaker 2: guy who was off the street who did nothing and
- 9:59Speaker 2: got drafted.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Like he trained himself.
- 10:01Speaker 2: He had a trainer, you know, a local trainer of again,
- 10:03Speaker 2: whatever their perception was, he did speaking vigility stuff. So
- 10:06Speaker 2: you know, he he was introduced to you know, weights
- 10:09Speaker 2: and in football, you know, in his own capacity, and
- 10:12Speaker 2: which was great because by the time he got a
- 10:14Speaker 2: chance to work us started in October, he had no bad.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Habits and for him, it's just getting the reps.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So I'm excited by, like say, for him to be
- 10:22Speaker 2: in the room with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davids and those
- 10:24Speaker 2: guys and then to talk about striking blocks and being
- 10:26Speaker 2: nasty and you know, the physical tackles.
- 10:28Speaker 3: He's gonna fit in well with everyone.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And were you staying in contact with U are during
- 10:33Speaker 1: that year period sort of holding period while he was
- 10:36Speaker 1: training and was you know it wasn't quite old enough yet.
- 10:39Speaker 1: But before that that training combine, sure.
- 10:42Speaker 3: It was limited, you know, his limit communication. You know,
- 10:44Speaker 3: he would reach out to me on Instagram.
- 10:46Speaker 2: He wanted videos you know, and just asked me for
- 10:49Speaker 2: clips and drills and things that he could do to just.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Work in the meantime.
- 10:52Speaker 2: So you know, he was able to take all of
- 10:54Speaker 2: those different things and work on it, and which gave
- 10:56Speaker 2: him a great foundation, you know, from a guy who
- 10:59Speaker 2: had never played the sport. So you know, I'm excited
- 11:02Speaker 2: for him. He got a clean slate and his mows
- 11:05Speaker 2: and great stuff.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Now six foot four, three hundred and six pounds, six
- 11:08Speaker 1: percent body fat, and he moves well for his size.
- 11:13Speaker 1: How did you and who really arrived on defensive tackle
- 11:16Speaker 1: for him? Because with that kind of athleticism and traits,
- 11:20Speaker 1: you would think that he could play right tackle or
- 11:23Speaker 1: he could play a number of different positions.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Sure, so he was a line of coming off safe
- 11:29Speaker 3: and sizes.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And again, I've been blessed to work with so many
- 11:32Speaker 2: great guys over the years, from from man from Nick
- 11:35Speaker 2: Bonito being one of the top pass rusers in the
- 11:37Speaker 2: NFL today to Jaylen Phillips, who was you know just
- 11:41Speaker 2: recently with the Eagles, to you know, Greg Russo and
- 11:44Speaker 2: and just so many guys over the year. So you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I think he fit physically and agility wise, he fit
- 11:53Speaker 2: amongst some of the top guys who played now, so
- 11:56Speaker 2: I thought it was pretty pretty pretty evident. You know,
- 11:58Speaker 2: when I got a chance to meet him and work
- 11:59Speaker 2: with that, he did a defensive you know, we did
- 12:01Speaker 2: a difens alignment, and you know, I think he can
- 12:04Speaker 2: be a guy who's versatile playing different schemes as he
- 12:07Speaker 2: continues to learn the game.
- 12:08Speaker 3: But I think right now what the strengths are just.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Being mean and physical, and again he does move well enough,
- 12:13Speaker 2: so he'll be a defensive tackle, you know, the start
- 12:15Speaker 2: off as NFL here.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Now, I think back to the phone conversation that we
- 12:19Speaker 1: had back in April where you shared with me this
- 12:22Speaker 1: story from the pre training combine in October from October
- 12:27Speaker 1: in London. You have to share that story again.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, no, like it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It's so crazy, man, because again I was excited the
- 12:36Speaker 2: day of the showcase because I went up to a
- 12:39Speaker 2: bunch of my guys who you know, were scouting around
- 12:41Speaker 2: the NFL, and I'm like, this guy's looking on the
- 12:43Speaker 2: show and I felt good knowing that he was going
- 12:45Speaker 2: to do it, because not only you know, we got
- 12:48Speaker 2: a chance to identify him back in October, but I
- 12:51Speaker 2: had a chance to you know, prepare him for this moment.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And I was a guy who leading the divers aligned drill,
- 12:56Speaker 2: so it couldn't have been even you know, a seamless
- 12:58Speaker 2: opportunity for him to you know, not only be developed
- 13:02Speaker 2: by the guy who's evaluating and putting me through the things.
- 13:05Speaker 2: So it was a great opportunity. But yeah, we evaluated
- 13:09Speaker 2: him back in October. And you know how this the
- 13:12Speaker 2: NFL sponsored by NIKI. They sent us a bunch of
- 13:14Speaker 2: gear for the guys and he was in size eighth
- 13:17Speaker 2: and a half shoot, so.
- 13:18Speaker 3: We had fleets in the size, but somehow order got
- 13:21Speaker 3: mixed up.
- 13:22Speaker 2: We did not have any shoes, so we were trying
- 13:25Speaker 2: to figure out how we can work around the testing,
- 13:27Speaker 2: right because we're there to test, to evaluate them through testing.
- 13:29Speaker 2: So he was able to do all the on field stuff, forties,
- 13:32Speaker 2: you know, broad all the different things. So when it
- 13:35Speaker 2: came time to do divert and the bench press all
- 13:39Speaker 2: this indoor stuff, he didn't have any shoes, so he
- 13:42Speaker 2: often just do it in socks. And I was like, well,
- 13:45Speaker 2: this should be interesting, you know, see what he can
- 13:47Speaker 2: do in socks and man, back in October, this dude
- 13:50Speaker 2: jumped in thirty eight verb so what he did in
- 13:53Speaker 2: late March was, you know, just just a true testament
- 13:58Speaker 2: of the work and that he's putting over you know,
- 14:01Speaker 2: his time of learning the game. But also you know
- 14:03Speaker 2: with the guys at X three, you know who will
- 14:05Speaker 2: work with him on the strength, condition to side and
- 14:07Speaker 2: the work that they put in. Because he was again
- 14:09Speaker 2: jumping thirty eight in October, he did thirty five reps
- 14:12Speaker 2: on the bench. Like interestingly enough, he did thirty one
- 14:15Speaker 2: at the combine, but he stopped like he could have one.
- 14:19Speaker 2: We pretested two weeks before that he was doing forty
- 14:22Speaker 2: on the bench. Like our goal going into this was
- 14:24Speaker 2: he was going to be the first guy ever at
- 14:27Speaker 2: a NFL combine to be in the forty forty club,
- 14:30Speaker 2: and the forty forty club was going to be forty
- 14:32Speaker 2: reps on the bench. And took forty reps on the
- 14:37Speaker 2: bench and forty vert and he missed the vert by
- 14:40Speaker 2: and then she jumped at thirty nine, and again he
- 14:42Speaker 2: just he led up on the bench and I think
- 14:44Speaker 2: you know, he he he was super excited. He was
- 14:46Speaker 2: giving all his energy out there, but he could have
- 14:48Speaker 2: definitely done more. Man So again, what you've seen is
- 14:52Speaker 2: not even close to the best that you're going to say,
- 14:54Speaker 2: who are because he has five six, seven levels to
- 14:57Speaker 2: grow as an athlete. You know, he's only been doing
- 14:59Speaker 2: this really from a professional standpoint for the past what
- 15:03Speaker 2: three three and a half four months, So again, once
- 15:05Speaker 2: he gets an offseason under his belt and works on
- 15:08Speaker 2: some more things, he's going to be more explosive.
- 15:10Speaker 3: So it's gonna get spooky spooky and Philip.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Now in working with him, Javon, what did you perceive
- 15:16Speaker 1: to be the for that initial hurdle that you had
- 15:20Speaker 1: to clear when you started working together.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I think for him it wasn't anything physical.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I think it was really just him adjusting being away
- 15:29Speaker 2: from home, like that was really one of the biggest things,
- 15:31Speaker 2: because physically, you know, again he compares to some of
- 15:35Speaker 2: the best. Mentally, again, I think he has some challenges
- 15:40Speaker 2: with adjusting being away from home and still to this day,
- 15:42Speaker 2: like this dude has had the greatest opportunity over the
- 15:46Speaker 2: past a couple of weeks to get drafted.
- 15:48Speaker 3: He hadn't even had an.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Opportunity to go back home and see his family, So
- 15:51Speaker 2: you know, I know that's a lot on him, but no,
- 15:53Speaker 2: I don't think that there was much of anything.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Man.
- 15:55Speaker 2: He came in with a clean slate, great dude, humble, hungry,
- 15:58Speaker 2: and that he wanted he want to work for everything
- 16:00Speaker 2: he had, So for him, it was really just adjusting.
- 16:03Speaker 2: So another funny story, he had never eaten port before.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And we have, you know, a chef who would come
- 16:09Speaker 2: out of cook for our guys every day during pre
- 16:12Speaker 2: jaft and I don't remember what the meal was, but
- 16:14Speaker 2: it was something that had pork, and he had never
- 16:16Speaker 2: eaten port. And he had like a stomach bug for
- 16:18Speaker 2: like two days and he was just out of it.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And it was funny because, like I said, he loves food.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And one day we had pancakes for breakfast. I'm like,
- 16:27Speaker 2: how did you enjoy that? And he was like, I
- 16:28Speaker 2: hated it. I was like, you hated pancakes, that's unheard of.
- 16:32Speaker 2: And I was like, well, what do you typically eat
- 16:33Speaker 2: for breakfast? And he was like, I drink bread. I
- 16:36Speaker 2: drink tea and eat bread. So that's why that's crazy.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Like my son's going to get on that regiment tomorrow
- 16:42Speaker 2: drinking bread and look like that. But nah, man, he,
- 16:46Speaker 2: like I said, he he had some adjustments with the food, right.
- 16:49Speaker 2: He loves he told me it's traditional food is Joel
- 16:51Speaker 2: off rice and beef. You know, that's traditionally what he
- 16:55Speaker 2: eats on the regular. So again, things like that, which
- 16:57Speaker 2: would be an adjustment for all of us, are some
- 16:59Speaker 2: things that you know he'll continue to grow in. And
- 17:01Speaker 2: I told him it's a lot of great food in Philly,
- 17:03Speaker 2: so he'll find some stuff. So guys find some other food,
- 17:06Speaker 2: not just not jeering food, but put them on some stuff.
- 17:08Speaker 2: He gotta get a Philig steak. You know, he don't
- 17:10Speaker 2: know what he's missing, man, So it's gonna be fun.
- 17:12Speaker 2: But now he's he's he's a fool lover for.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Sure, so am I. So I look forward to having
- 17:16Speaker 1: those conversations with him during the season. But but what
- 17:20Speaker 1: did you mentioned poor Javon? But what did his diet
- 17:23Speaker 1: evolve into when he started working with you?
- 17:26Speaker 2: Sure, so he was on a really strict guy because
- 17:29Speaker 2: in our free draft program, our goals. We want to
- 17:31Speaker 2: train these guys by track athletes, right, everybody wants to
- 17:33Speaker 2: run fast. So what he did in pre draft will
- 17:36Speaker 2: be a little different than what he does going throughout
- 17:39Speaker 2: the rest of his off season now that he won't
- 17:41Speaker 2: have to do with testing him.
- 17:42Speaker 3: But he was a little bit of everything. Man.
- 17:44Speaker 2: He told me that predominantly back in our year, he
- 17:47Speaker 2: only ate beef, chicken and excuse me and fish.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Those are the only things, you know, three proteins that
- 17:53Speaker 3: he would eat.
- 17:54Speaker 2: But he ain't little bit of everything man from from
- 17:56Speaker 2: I want to say, yeah, excuse me, maceroni. At some
- 17:59Speaker 2: point as potatoes, he had some steak, and you know,
- 18:03Speaker 2: you got to opportune to eat a lot of different food.
- 18:05Speaker 3: You know, we had a great chef by the name
- 18:06Speaker 3: of Miron Uh.
- 18:07Speaker 2: You know, Ron's from Jamaica, so you know he saws
- 18:10Speaker 2: it up real good and man and put a little
- 18:12Speaker 2: Ribbean swing on it. So he had opportunity to try
- 18:14Speaker 2: some good things and he found some things that he
- 18:16Speaker 2: did like.
- 18:17Speaker 3: But again it's all new to him, so it'll take
- 18:19Speaker 3: them a job.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So you'll have to set the scene for us. The
- 18:22Speaker 1: training took place at X three performance in Fort Myers.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I know that that's sort of a hub for ipp players.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Jordan Malata, you mentioned trains there and visited frequently. What
- 18:32Speaker 1: did the training consist of? How many days and what
- 18:35Speaker 1: were the hours?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Oh man, it was a it was a nine to
- 18:38Speaker 2: five literally, like these guys got in they were introduced
- 18:41Speaker 2: what it means to be a pro real quick and
- 18:43Speaker 2: that's one thing we talked about when we evaluated these
- 18:45Speaker 2: guys in London was that, you know, it's a huge
- 18:48Speaker 2: workload to be a you know, to be a professional athlete.
- 18:52Speaker 3: So they got introduced real quickly.
- 18:53Speaker 2: And it was six days a week and these guys
- 18:55Speaker 2: are rooming from eight am to five pm. And their
- 18:58Speaker 2: days were a little bit longer than the guys in
- 19:01Speaker 2: our in our prejift program, you know, coming out of college,
- 19:05Speaker 2: because for them, we were starting from scratch. So we
- 19:07Speaker 2: literally watched film every day, we got on the board
- 19:10Speaker 2: and chalk talk every day. So you know, their days
- 19:12Speaker 2: were much longer than everybody else because you know, they
- 19:15Speaker 2: were starting from a negative and we just needed to
- 19:17Speaker 2: catch up.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So it was a lot of long days.
- 19:19Speaker 2: And they got real monotonous for about twelve and a
- 19:22Speaker 2: half weeks, like by them that week before the combine,
- 19:24Speaker 2: like they were itching and he was itching, man, he
- 19:26Speaker 2: was ready to get out there. And you know he
- 19:28Speaker 2: had been seeing the same people for weeks and eating
- 19:31Speaker 2: the same foods for a couple of weeks.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Men, and they got real monotonous.
- 19:35Speaker 2: But it was you know, it was composed of all
- 19:37Speaker 2: of the different answer learter trainings that it takes to
- 19:39Speaker 2: be professional, from speeding, agility, to strength and condition and
- 19:43Speaker 2: to recovery. You know, that's one thing that actually provides.
- 19:46Speaker 2: They have a great recovery staff and these guys had
- 19:49Speaker 2: access to that day in and day out, so from
- 19:51Speaker 2: massages to the whole nine, from infrared signed us to
- 19:55Speaker 2: you know, tubs and the whole nine. Man, so he
- 19:58Speaker 2: got a chance to you know, get recovery every single
- 20:00Speaker 2: day as well as the position of trending and that
- 20:03Speaker 2: was a huge part of this process for.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Him again just continue to learn the game of football.
- 20:07Speaker 3: So it was twelve.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Weeks, nine to five, six days a week, and it
- 20:13Speaker 2: was stuff. You know, they went through a real camp
- 20:16Speaker 2: and I actually, ironic got I just got out the
- 20:19Speaker 2: phone with Josh before we started this meeting and he
- 20:21Speaker 2: said that, you know, he was very thankful that a
- 20:25Speaker 2: lot of the things that we did in our camp
- 20:26Speaker 2: with atter he got is translated to him being with
- 20:29Speaker 2: the Eagles.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Now, so it will seedless. Man. It was it was
- 20:31Speaker 3: a lot, but you know it paid off now.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I imagine for someone who's never played football before, the
- 20:36Speaker 1: hand usage and alignment is probably the most daunting aspect
- 20:40Speaker 1: of that position. How did you go about simulating that
- 20:43Speaker 1: in training?
- 20:44Speaker 3: Oh? Man, we struck.
- 20:46Speaker 2: We struck the sleds every day. That was one of
- 20:49Speaker 2: the things we got. We got one of those. It's
- 20:51Speaker 2: a new sled, but it's an old foul sled, right,
- 20:53Speaker 2: and it's a sled that really focusing on driving power
- 20:57Speaker 2: through the ground. So one of the there's different types
- 21:00Speaker 2: of sled. So for all my football enthusiasm and defensive
- 21:02Speaker 2: line lovers, you got plenty different sleds, right. We got
- 21:05Speaker 2: sleds where we have to really focus on driving through
- 21:08Speaker 2: our hips. That we have certain sleds that really focus
- 21:10Speaker 2: on extension and disengaging. So the sled that we started
- 21:14Speaker 2: off with was a ground sled and it was low
- 21:16Speaker 2: to the ground and they had to really focus on
- 21:19Speaker 2: striking through the hips locking out of their hands. And
- 21:22Speaker 2: this sled was not retractable, so it wasn't moving. So
- 21:26Speaker 2: that's the thing that we joked about earlier. He was like,
- 21:28Speaker 2: I'm so glad that we hit that hard sled.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Josh.
- 21:31Speaker 2: He said, I'm so glad that we hit that hard
- 21:33Speaker 2: sled because when I got here easy, So that was
- 21:36Speaker 2: one thing that I knew would be a transition from
- 21:39Speaker 2: never striking blocks.
- 21:40Speaker 3: So that was one thing we did day one. Again,
- 21:43Speaker 3: we went six days a week, so some days were
- 21:45Speaker 3: low impacts, some days were you know, high intense. But well,
- 21:48Speaker 3: that's one thing we did ever, We were striking blocks.
- 21:50Speaker 2: So that's that's one thing you got to be able
- 21:51Speaker 2: to do in the field as a DEVS alignment is
- 21:53Speaker 2: you know, oulder gap.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Integertary and you know, be able to get off blocks. Man.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So every so I'm so happy that they had a
- 22:02Speaker 2: chance to do that because they rolled right over to
- 22:04Speaker 2: you know what they're doing now.
- 22:05Speaker 1: With eagles, and he was striking trees as well, right.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Hey, with his bare hands. Bro.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Like I said, we have the luxuriest strike sleds. We
- 22:13Speaker 2: even wear gloves sometimes, but man, just do with striking trees.
- 22:17Speaker 2: And they blew my mind and me seeing those videos of.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Him, you know, the year prior to them coming to
- 22:21Speaker 3: the word work with us, I knew he was going
- 22:23Speaker 3: to be good.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Because anybody who's willing to do that, you want to
- 22:26Speaker 2: be successful, and that's what the NFL wants. We want
- 22:28Speaker 2: guys who want to be great, and you know who
- 22:30Speaker 2: are willing to put lay everything out on the line
- 22:32Speaker 2: to be successful.
- 22:32Speaker 3: So he fits perfectly with what we do.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I understand that Jordan Mylta was present pretty often at
- 22:39Speaker 1: X three during who Are Josh's training? What was his
- 22:43Speaker 1: message to those guys?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Sure, Now, Jordan was was a great asset to those guys, man,
- 22:50Speaker 2: and I'm sure they'd give a lot of credit to
- 22:52Speaker 2: him really just through you know, getting through that process.
- 22:55Speaker 2: But he really just talked about what it meant to
- 22:58Speaker 2: be a pro and just winning every single day, you know,
- 23:00Speaker 2: and not taking this thing for granted. And I don't
- 23:02Speaker 2: think that's something he had to explain to them because
- 23:04Speaker 2: between Josh and u R again, they were super motivated
- 23:08Speaker 2: on their own.
- 23:09Speaker 3: But you know, like I said, it was.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Some long dog days and again his experience being an
- 23:14Speaker 2: ig P alum was phenomenal, you know, and to really
- 23:17Speaker 2: give them some insight on how to get through it.
- 23:19Speaker 2: So again, he was vital to this process with them,
- 23:22Speaker 2: and they loved working with him, you know, he was
- 23:24Speaker 2: he was able to teach them offense from a different perspective, right,
- 23:27Speaker 2: And that's one of the things that we went into
- 23:29Speaker 2: this year.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Starting the program.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I go with I wanted them to learn offense first,
- 23:34Speaker 2: and once they learned the basically of offense, the fundamentals
- 23:36Speaker 2: of blocking schemes, then I would teach them how to
- 23:38Speaker 2: attack it.
- 23:39Speaker 3: And Jordan played a huge part of that.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Every day man coming in and you know, working with
- 23:43Speaker 2: those guys, get up some pass sets and you know,
- 23:45Speaker 2: some different angles, and again it really accelerated, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 2: their learning curves.
- 23:49Speaker 3: So he did a great job at them.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think you also have to look at
- 23:55Speaker 1: just the pre draft process and Clint Hurt leading up
- 23:58Speaker 1: to the draft. Did you have any contact with Clint
- 24:01Speaker 1: because I know that he went out to Florida to
- 24:04Speaker 1: work out who are and Josh prior to the draft?
- 24:09Speaker 3: Sure? No, so I did that. We didn't speak prior
- 24:11Speaker 3: to the draft. I got a chance to work with Clinton.
- 24:14Speaker 3: He had in the Senior Bowl.
- 24:15Speaker 2: So I'm one of DEEPCS alignment, you know, I'm sorry,
- 24:16Speaker 2: DEFs A line coaches have worked with the Senior Bowl
- 24:18Speaker 2: and so I got a chance to work with him,
- 24:20Speaker 2: and you know, this is my first opportunity to get
- 24:22Speaker 2: to know him, and I loved it, you know, and
- 24:24Speaker 2: he he he is exactly what needs fiery guy, you know,
- 24:30Speaker 2: he embodies the fundamentals of what it takes to be
- 24:32Speaker 2: a dominant defense alignment. So again, a great guy and
- 24:35Speaker 2: it couldn't be a great situation for But no, we
- 24:37Speaker 2: didn't speak up until the draft. But I got a
- 24:39Speaker 2: chance to work with him before. And you know, I'll
- 24:42Speaker 2: go up to training camp at some point as we
- 24:45Speaker 2: get started and get opportunity to work with him and
- 24:47Speaker 2: the guys and you know, really kind of help, you know,
- 24:49Speaker 2: make sure that there's REGREWITTI but to what you know
- 24:51Speaker 2: Clint is doing and what we'll continue to do the offseason.
- 24:54Speaker 3: So I'm so excited to get out there to Philly.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, reach out. When you do, we'll have to
- 24:58Speaker 1: grab lunch or something out there.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Now, I'm I'm all for I'm on Forard Man. They
- 25:01Speaker 2: say you're the man with a plan, Drew, So you
- 25:03Speaker 2: take me.
- 25:05Speaker 1: So let's fast forward day three of the NFL Draft.
- 25:09Speaker 1: That's coming to the latter stages of draft weekend. Where
- 25:12Speaker 1: are you when? Who are here?
- 25:14Speaker 3: Is his name called? So?
- 25:16Speaker 2: I was at home my family, right. I had been
- 25:19Speaker 2: in Fort Myers for the past three and a half months.
- 25:21Speaker 2: So my wife was like, you ain't gonna nowhere, But
- 25:23Speaker 2: I wanted to be there. I wanted to you know,
- 25:25Speaker 2: be expending time at the draft, but I was home,
- 25:27Speaker 2: man in front of the TV, locked in popcorn an
- 25:30Speaker 2: of soda, and my heart dropped, man, and I just
- 25:34Speaker 2: there was so many different emotions at that moment, and
- 25:37Speaker 2: I was just so elated for him, and it meant
- 25:39Speaker 2: so much to me to really have front row seats
- 25:42Speaker 2: over the past three and a half months to you know,
- 25:44Speaker 2: his success.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Man.
- 25:45Speaker 2: So I was so excited, and we talked a little
- 25:47Speaker 2: bit later on that evening and he was just so overwhelmed,
- 25:50Speaker 2: and you know, it was cool seeing him that way,
- 25:52Speaker 2: and you know, I was so excited.
- 25:54Speaker 3: For him, man, But it was a great moment we
- 25:55Speaker 3: shared for Shure.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Now, if there were ever a player a place to
- 25:59Speaker 1: land for someone who's never played football before, it would
- 26:03Speaker 1: be in Philadelphia. They really pride themselves on player development.
- 26:06Speaker 1: They have the infrastructure in place, and I'm sure you
- 26:08Speaker 1: saw Howie Roseman's draft call. They're going to rally around
- 26:11Speaker 1: him and they're going to surround him with a lot
- 26:13Speaker 1: of support. And I go back to what you said earlier,
- 26:18Speaker 1: you have a lot of confidence that you are going
- 26:20Speaker 1: to be able to see this through. It's going to
- 26:22Speaker 1: be a process. But what gives you that confidence that
- 26:24Speaker 1: he's going to be able to sort of defy the odds.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Again, it's just the cloth he's cut from a different cloth,
- 26:30Speaker 2: and you know it would it might have been unfortunate
- 26:33Speaker 2: growing up, but it's prepared him for the man he's
- 26:36Speaker 2: going to continue to be. So I have one hundred
- 26:39Speaker 2: percent confidence in him, just based off who he is
- 26:41Speaker 2: and get all that.
- 26:42Speaker 3: He's endured and all that he's worked for.
- 26:45Speaker 2: So I'm excited for him because he really is one
- 26:48Speaker 2: of those guys and like I said, he compares to
- 26:50Speaker 2: all the greats, you know, and all of the greats
- 26:52Speaker 2: had to say, you know, same story at some point,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you know, started off and just wanted to be great
- 26:57Speaker 2: and want to learn. And what's more, and you know,
- 27:00Speaker 2: not only you know is he changing his whole life,
- 27:01Speaker 2: but he has like his village and his country you know,
- 27:04Speaker 2: on his back, and you know he takes that with
- 27:06Speaker 2: great pride and he knows that this opportunity is way
- 27:09Speaker 2: bigger than just for him, but just everyone he represents.
- 27:13Speaker 3: So now I'm excited for him, and he's going to
- 27:15Speaker 3: do good stuff.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Now, Rookie Minnie camp is typically an orientation around the NFL,
- 27:19Speaker 1: but it was really special for Leurs the first time
- 27:22Speaker 1: he stepped on an NFL field at first football practice.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Did you hear from him? Did he give you any
- 27:27Speaker 1: feedback on those two days went.
- 27:29Speaker 3: For He told me it was artist hit.
- 27:30Speaker 2: It was a hard day, and you know, we spoke
- 27:33Speaker 2: day one, man and but he was like, you know,
- 27:35Speaker 2: I'm just excited to be here and I'm so thankful.
- 27:37Speaker 3: So for him, it's like, you know, it.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Was challenging because again it's the adjustment of learning defense
- 27:43Speaker 2: and learning you know, defensive calls in the verbiage that
- 27:46Speaker 2: goes along with what they do in Philly because it changes.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Everywhere you go.
- 27:49Speaker 2: And that was one thing that I was intentional about
- 27:52Speaker 2: up into this process. You know, I put a cap
- 27:55Speaker 2: on what I was going to share with them because
- 27:59Speaker 2: it changes then where you go, and I didn't want
- 28:01Speaker 2: to confuse him or anyone else. But we talked about
- 28:04Speaker 2: the fundamentals of all defense, and you know, from there
- 28:07Speaker 2: I was I was confident that cleanning those guys can you.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Know, get him up to speed.
- 28:10Speaker 2: But we spoke day one and he he was excited
- 28:13Speaker 2: to be out there, and he talked about it.
- 28:14Speaker 3: You know it was challenging for him.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Again, just continue being the first time, you know, just
- 28:19Speaker 2: the pace and what does that look like?
- 28:21Speaker 3: And you know what does it mean to go full speed?
- 28:23Speaker 3: And then what does it mean to walk through? Right?
- 28:25Speaker 3: So you know, good things just for him, just to
- 28:28Speaker 3: stack it up.
- 28:29Speaker 2: His goal is just continue to stack consecutive the day,
- 28:32Speaker 2: so it'll keep doing it all.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Right, everybody, Just a quick break to remind you if
- 28:37Speaker 4: you haven't noticed, sun's coming out, it's getting warmer, especially
- 28:42Speaker 4: where we are in the Northeast.
- 28:43Speaker 5: That reminds you that summer's right around the corner.
- 28:46Speaker 4: And with late spring and summer come a ton of activities.
- 28:49Speaker 4: I know, for me, and I'm sure just like everybody else.
- 28:52Speaker 4: You know, my kids play softball at tournaments every weekend,
- 28:56Speaker 4: and then there's gonna be barbecues. And I actually turn
- 29:00Speaker 4: the Big five OZO this year along with many of
- 29:02Speaker 4: my friends, so I know there's gonna be a lot
- 29:04Speaker 4: of fiftieth birthday parties. And look, I know that at
- 29:08Speaker 4: these parties, I'm gonna have a few drinks. I'm gonna
- 29:10Speaker 4: want to have fun with my friends. And now that
- 29:13Speaker 4: I'm fifty, we're going to be fifty. I know that
- 29:17Speaker 4: I just don't feel as great the next day, even
- 29:19Speaker 4: if I just have a few drinks the night before.
- 29:23Speaker 4: So I tried this new product called Cheers Restore. Okay,

- 29:49Speaker 4: the next day you may feel like you only had
- 29:52Speaker 4: three or four.
- 29:53Speaker 5: So basically, Cheers Restore.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Helps you metabolize alcohol more efficiently and it supports overall
- 29:59Speaker 4: liver health. Most people think that when you drink, you
- 30:02Speaker 4: get dehydrated and that's why you don't feel great the
- 30:05Speaker 4: next day. The real issue is actually what happens in
- 30:09Speaker 4: your brain and liver while you're sleeping. So when the
- 30:11Speaker 4: alcohol leaves your system, your brain goes into this rebound mode.
- 30:15Speaker 5: And that's what makes you feel bad. The DHM and
- 30:17Speaker 5: Cheers works while.
- 30:18Speaker 4: You sleep to smooth out that rebound, and at the
- 30:21Speaker 4: same time, the alcohol converts into a toxic byproduct that
- 30:25Speaker 4: your liver has to clear out.
- 30:27Speaker 5: The seis steine and Cheers helps speed that up.
- 30:30Speaker 4: It's backed by doctors, PhDs and over one thousand verified clinicians.
- 30:35Speaker 4: They've sold over fifty million doses, and Cheers is also
- 30:38Speaker 4: available in thirty thousand retail locations that includes Target, CVS
- 30:43Speaker 4: and Walgreens. So take Cheers, restore after your last drink

- 32:10Speaker 4: one and up.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Now, we were out there for the first day and
- 32:14Speaker 1: he clearly got a lot of one on one attention
- 32:17Speaker 1: and a lot of work because they're only I believe
- 32:20Speaker 1: three defensive linemen. There there was who are there was
- 32:22Speaker 1: a tryout player and Gabe Hall who's been on the
- 32:25Speaker 1: Eagles for a couple of years. So he got really
- 32:27Speaker 1: invaluable coaching from Clint Hurt. I would imagine those those
- 32:30Speaker 1: two days.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Sure he did, and he loves Clint Man.
- 32:35Speaker 2: He couldn't have been with a better coach, and you know,
- 32:37Speaker 2: I know their relationship will continue to grow and clinical
- 32:40Speaker 2: continue to pour into him as he does with all
- 32:42Speaker 2: his naps alignments. So again he's in a great community
- 32:45Speaker 2: of guys. So I'm excited about that.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Now, as far as you're concerned, will you and Clint
- 32:49Speaker 1: sort of be in contact in between you know, OTA's
- 32:53Speaker 1: mandatory mini camp and then that gap where the NFL
- 32:55Speaker 1: goes dark for a month and a half until a
- 32:58Speaker 1: training camp.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Sure? Yeah, and that's the goal, you know.
- 33:02Speaker 2: I I'll coortinuite to just be a resource for him,
- 33:04Speaker 2: especially we are, and just continue to work alongside Clinton,
- 33:08Speaker 2: make sure that there's a congruency, like I said, between
- 33:10Speaker 2: you know what he needs to continue to work on,
- 33:12Speaker 2: you know, outside of the building, and then continue to
- 33:14Speaker 2: help him learn the playbooking just to fund the ins
- 33:17Speaker 2: and outs of what you know, play deeps the line
- 33:19Speaker 2: so well worked side outside of the next couple bunch
- 33:21Speaker 2: of shit.
- 33:22Speaker 1: You also mentioned Josh, and I'm very particular. I always
- 33:25Speaker 1: have to make sure I get the pronunciation right on
- 33:27Speaker 1: last names. Is it we room or is it we're
- 33:30Speaker 1: where Josh were where? Okay, good, we got it. Everybody
- 33:34Speaker 1: could hear it. And that's how you say, So, how
- 33:36Speaker 1: did he first get on your radar.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Same thing man we Josh was founding out of camp.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Josh is a former rugby player, so you know, he
- 33:45Speaker 2: was one of the guys that we evaluated in London
- 33:46Speaker 2: last year who had a little more experience because he
- 33:49Speaker 2: played a you know sport It's not football, but it
- 33:52Speaker 2: you know, translated into physicality, you know, some speed stuff.
- 33:55Speaker 3: So Josh is another.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Guy that I'm so high on and I'm so excited
- 34:00Speaker 2: for it because I think he truly has an opportunity
- 34:03Speaker 2: to be, you know, really successful and excel because Josh
- 34:07Speaker 2: is a He's cut from a different cloth as well,
- 34:09Speaker 2: and you know, has a great family background, family down
- 34:13Speaker 2: that He's a super inquisitive, intelligent guy. He's from Kenya,
- 34:17Speaker 2: so they're from you know, Joshua wat from different different places.
- 34:19Speaker 2: But again, super great guy, student of the game. It's
- 34:23Speaker 2: so funny that you know, he watched so much of
- 34:25Speaker 2: Nolan Smith's film leading up until, you know, leading up
- 34:29Speaker 2: into the combine for him to get drafted to I'm
- 34:31Speaker 2: sorry to sign to the Eagles.
- 34:32Speaker 3: And you know, again we spoke earlier. You know, he
- 34:35Speaker 3: told me.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Been practicing with Nolan and just how you know, gracious
- 34:39Speaker 2: he is at this opportunity that he had to get
- 34:41Speaker 2: studying this guy's film for weeks.
- 34:43Speaker 3: So now josh is another one who Eagles.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Fans should expect big things from because he's going to
- 34:48Speaker 2: be a really good, really good football player over time.
- 34:51Speaker 2: He's super explosive, six' four way IN i think about
- 34:55Speaker 2: two point fifty ran four to four from striking. Blocks
- 35:00Speaker 2: and So Josh Joshua world is definitely a name to
- 35:04Speaker 2: consider and just continue to get to know because he's
- 35:06Speaker 2: going to be a standout as.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Well what was it About nolan's film that he was
- 35:10Speaker 1: particularly drawn?
- 35:10Speaker 3: To it was the body, size.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Right he felt that they had similar metrics and he
- 35:16Speaker 2: wanted to just continue to. Learn you, know he watched
- 35:19Speaker 2: All demons in, linement all guys From Jeff simmons To Nolan, smith,
- 35:23Speaker 2: right two different body, types two different positions on the,
- 35:26Speaker 2: line because you can really, learn you, know.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Different things from everybody and how they approach.
- 35:30Speaker 2: It so he got opportunity to watch a lot of,
- 35:32Speaker 2: guys but he really enjoyed Watching Nola smith just because
- 35:35Speaker 2: of what his game looked like To, josh like what
- 35:39Speaker 2: that looked like to.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Him and then body size and. Measurables he thought that.
- 35:42Speaker 2: He kind of fits some of the same, mold being
- 35:44Speaker 2: six to, four super twitchy and, explosive and they really
- 35:47Speaker 2: do have a lot of similar in Tangible SO i
- 35:49Speaker 2: think that that's a great uh guy going to learn
- 35:52Speaker 2: from over the Next over the next a couple of,
- 35:54Speaker 2: years that.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Phenomenal they trained together and you could see on social
- 35:58Speaker 1: media that they were really happy and absorbing the moment
- 36:02Speaker 1: alongside each other joining THE. Nfl how did they push
- 36:05Speaker 1: each other in training.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Every?
- 36:09Speaker 2: Day and that's one thing THAT i enjoyed is that
- 36:12Speaker 2: they brought the energy and they competed.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Day in and day out at, everything.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Right they competed in the weight room from, lifts they
- 36:18Speaker 2: competed when it came down to you, know the skilled
- 36:21Speaker 2: drills that we're doing auxillary, drills and they competed day
- 36:24Speaker 2: in and day, out and they really did push each.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Other so we really had no surprise, that you, know
- 36:28Speaker 2: those two for sure would get this opportunity just because
- 36:31Speaker 2: of how the. Works and, Again bernard's a natural born
- 36:35Speaker 2: leader And joshua is a guy who has a lot
- 36:40Speaker 2: of things to. Say he's again he's very, intelligent and you,
- 36:46Speaker 2: know he's very humble and he's also.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Fired.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Right he may not come off as that type of,
- 36:51Speaker 2: guy but he has that in this thing like he's
- 36:53Speaker 2: a very, fiery you, know put his hands on your
- 36:56Speaker 2: urgent type of.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Guy SO i can't wait to see that.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Chance, now last thing for, You, javon AND i do
- 37:02Speaker 1: appreciate being so gracious with your. Time you either worked
- 37:05Speaker 1: with or still work With Josh ushe a former ego
- 37:09Speaker 1: who is now with The Miami. Dolphins BUT i very
- 37:12Speaker 1: much enjoyed covering. Him he was a pleasure to cover
- 37:15Speaker 1: and a great. Guy are you still working with? Him
- 37:18Speaker 1: what's he up?

- 37:22Speaker 2: man because he's A South florida, kid. Right we grew

- 38:22Speaker 3: start working with J. G maybebout four or five years.

- 38:59Speaker 1: you can attest to this better than. ANYONE i still
- 39:01Speaker 1: feel like there's another level that he could.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Reach oh, yeah trust, me we have not seen the
- 39:05Speaker 2: best Of John. Gnard his best football is ahead of
- 39:08Speaker 2: him AND i guarantee. That AND i think this scheme and,
- 39:10Speaker 2: System i'm, sorry this scheme is a system you know
- 39:13Speaker 2: UNDER VICI i think he's going to do great things
