Transcript
- 0:00The rebuilding of the Third Temple, is that a Christian idea?
- 0:03Can Christians embrace that? We're going to take a look at a few different things,
- 0:07and I'm going to give my viewpoint, which I hope is received well.
- 0:12This is Tucker Carlson, and he got into it, and he kind of lambasted Christian
- 0:17Zionism, which a lot of people do now.
- 0:19But I think it might be a misunderstanding of it, but let's just hear from Tucker.
- 0:23The building of the Third Temple, but it's not just Hasidic groups from Brooklyn,
- 0:27and it's not just IDF soldiers. There are amazingly a lot of American evangelical
- 0:32leaders, Christian Zionists, whose main point is rebuilding the third temple.
- 0:36Now, how could an American Christian or any Christian call for the building
- 0:41of a temple whose presence, whose inherent presence denies Christ?
- 0:46Who said clearly, and Christians believe this, it's a core point of faith.
- 0:49I am the temple. You want to speak to God, you speak through me.
- 0:51That's Christianity. That's the whole religion right there. So if you're a Christian
- 0:54preacher calling for the rebuilding of the third temple, you kind of missed the whole point.
- 0:57Okay, I'm just going to stop it right there and we're going to dive into this
- 1:00because I think that is the natural viewpoint that a lot of Christians had.
- 1:04Probably the viewpoint I would have had when I became a Christian.
- 1:08And I think it is a misunderstanding.
- 1:11And I had to go through a lot of different things to kind of come to this realization.
- 1:16And it's not to say that I have everything correct, but Christians in general
- 1:20of understanding, because there's a lot of things that go against our natural belief.
- 1:25Because when we read the scriptures and we understand how we're doing Christianity
- 1:29today, a lot of it doesn't align.
- 1:31And it comes to this viewpoint where we think that when Jesus came,
- 1:36that the New Testament was there as well.
- 1:38And they just were living off the New Testament.
- 1:41Forget about the Old Testament. When Jesus and the apostles were here,
- 1:45on earth, there was no New Testament.
- 1:48The Bible and the scriptures that they lived by was the Old Testament,
- 1:53was the law, was what was given to them.
- 1:55So to say that they had just completely done away with, Jesus was starting something
- 2:00and completely new and forget about everything, that goes against,
- 2:04really, if you dive into it, what he preached and taught and what the apostles taught.
- 2:09I'm going to read this from, this is from Acts chapter six, and this is when
- 2:13Stephen, the first martyr of the Christian church,
- 2:15the Jewish leaders were defaming him and slandering him and mischaracterizing
- 2:21what he was preaching so that they could get him killed. It says.
- 2:26And they set up false witnesses who said, this man never ceases to speak words
- 2:30against this holy place and the law,
- 2:33for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place
- 2:38and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.
- 2:41Right there, people think that's what, that's obviously what Stephen was saying.
- 2:46That's what he was saying, because that's what these slanderers and false witnesses were saying.
- 2:51They were mischaracterizing his whole point.
- 2:54There was something drastically new that changed when Jesus came,
- 2:57but they didn't completely do away with the sacrificial system.
- 3:00They didn't completely do away with the temple.
- 3:02Jesus said he's the fulfillment of it, but it doesn't do away with that.
- 3:06There was a necessity, a real thing that I just see that a lot of people think
- 3:11that God, he commands something, but he also hates what he commands.
- 3:16He delivers laws and prescriptions of how things are to be done,
- 3:20but then he, at the same time, hates those prescriptions that he gives.
- 3:24No, those are good and holy and righteous and true.
- 3:28The commanding of the third temple, the commanding of the temple in general was a good commandment.
- 3:35So to say, like, I'm not saying that we just need to build a third temple,
- 3:39but I'm not saying that the temple in general is a bad thing.
- 3:42It is a good thing. It is a way why we in this temporal time can draw near to God.
- 3:50God's judgment on Jerusalem and destroying the third temple was because of the
- 3:54rejection of the Messiah. But it's not to say that the temple in general is bad.
- 4:00That's where I think people go off in misunderstanding about this.
- 4:05And I'm going to read this last thing. This is from Acts. This changed my worldview.
- 4:09It's when it clicked. This is in Acts 21 when Paul, who is a Jew, a Torah observant Jew,
- 4:15that people are slandering him and saying that he is saying to do away with
- 4:20the law, do away with the whole sacrificial system, the temple and all of its
- 4:23bad. And it was exactly the opposite.
- 4:25There is a thing that's going on where Paul's message is saying Gentiles can
- 4:30become a part of God's people and they don't need to become Jewish.
- 4:34They can stay Gentiles and they don't have to go under the yoke of the law.
- 4:39And in Acts 21, verse 24, they're telling the Apostle Paul, take these men and
- 4:44purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads.
- 4:49Thus, all we will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about
- 4:52you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law.
- 4:56But as for the Gentiles, there's a difference, the Jews and the Gentiles.
- 5:00But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment
- 5:05that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols and from blood
- 5:09and from what has been strangled and from sexual immorality.
- 5:13Then Paul took the men and the next day he purified himself along with them
- 5:17and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would
- 5:21be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.
- 5:24So Paul, Jews keep the law.
- 5:28Gentiles, they're not obligated with all the prescriptions of the law.
- 5:31And I think this is what messes up a lot of Christian people,
- 5:34because when we read the Old Testament, how do we understand it?
- 5:38Because we're not living by all that.
- 5:40And is it to say, oh, we have to mischaracterize it and say Jesus did away with all of it.
- 5:45He didn't, but it applies differently between Jews and Gentiles.
