- 0:39Speaker 1: from a million things. He is a die hard Bears fan.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And then Gareth Reynolds, his buddy, is an amazing comedian.
- 0:47Speaker 1: He's the host of the incredibly popular podcast The Dollop.
- 0:51Speaker 1: He is a die hard Packers fan. So we brought
- 0:54Speaker 1: him both on to have a back and forth about
- 0:57Speaker 1: the division this week and everything else NFC North related.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It's so fun. I think you guys are gonna love it.

- 1:19Speaker 1: going back and forth. People call in. It's you will

- 1:34Speaker 2: Guys.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I truly loved this episode.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I don't know what Tom is.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Hey, we gotta go here, we gotta go.
- 1:43Speaker 1: THET go So Tom, Hello everyone. We are so excited
- 1:52Speaker 1: to have on the program today, not just one, but
- 1:55Speaker 1: two amazing guests. It's a divisional affair. Have I failed
- 2:00Speaker 1: to start this podcast three times in a row and
- 2:02Speaker 1: I feel like it's gonna be a difficult event for me. Yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 1: but the guests are great and I'm going to bring
- 2:09Speaker 1: them in. Die Hard Bears fan Jake Johnson, die Hard
- 2:14Speaker 1: Packers fan, Gareth Reynolds. Guys, thank you for sitting through
- 2:19Speaker 1: whatever the beginning of this was. I'm psyched to have
- 2:23Speaker 1: you here.
- 2:23Speaker 3: We're excited to be here. The NFC North represents on
- 2:27Speaker 3: this one, huh.
- 2:28Speaker 2: And the only team that's not invited is just the
- 2:31Speaker 2: good one.
- 2:33Speaker 3: That intro was the intro of all three of our seasons.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we came in incited.
- 2:39Speaker 3: We came in excited. Just that conness planned has.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It optimistic and now we're on take nine.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The division is such a funny thing for me because
- 2:47Speaker 1: it does feel like we're in this back to the
- 2:50Speaker 1: Future two version of the NFC North.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we're in the Biff Tan and timeline. Yeah, that's
- 2:56Speaker 2: exactly right.
- 2:57Speaker 3: One thing I could say to the Vikings and the
- 3:00Speaker 3: Bears fans here, and I think we can all relate,
- 3:03Speaker 3: is that Jordan Love ain't that guy. He's just not
- 3:08Speaker 3: so Eric. Can I finish? Can I please finish? Before
- 3:11Speaker 3: you in a rope like you always do? Jordan Love.
- 3:16Speaker 3: For Packers fans, they believe it's.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Red for Aaron Rodgers and the third.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Trilogy, and it's not. He's just a He's a middling quarterback.
- 3:26Speaker 3: He's gonna end his career.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Side close the show. You're taking the grabbing the wheel.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Three different at the end of his career, it's going
- 3:35Speaker 3: to be the Packers for five years, the Panthers for
- 3:38Speaker 3: three years, and then he's gonna like and in Cleveland
- 3:41Speaker 3: or Jacksonville, give me you break with this guy. He's
- 3:43Speaker 3: just not a go ahead side.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Probably the most beautiful thing that's happened in the history
- 3:48Speaker 1: of this program is you just went off on Jordan
- 3:51Speaker 1: Love and Gareth looked at me like.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Cy come on, so that's.
- 3:57Speaker 1: You're about to get divorced. Yeah, and you look at
- 4:01Speaker 1: your wife's best friend like back me up, ye, backside.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Listen. This is all I'll say. And I think listen,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I do not. I'm not under the impression that Jordan
- 4:12Speaker 2: Love is having an all pro season. I will say,
- 4:15Speaker 2: and Jake and I have done this through text messages,
- 4:18Speaker 2: the Bears fans, all the other people in the NFC
- 4:21Speaker 2: North when Rogers was starting, We're gone, this ain't your guy. Yes, Jake,
- 4:26Speaker 2: I let you talk. Jake, I let you talk, and
- 4:29Speaker 2: and and so it's just more of the same. It's
- 4:32Speaker 2: five games in. Like, there have been moments where I'm like, ooh,
- 4:36Speaker 2: this could be good. There have been moments where I'm like,
- 4:38Speaker 2: what is going on? There's definitely I also feel like
- 4:42Speaker 2: the youngest team in the NFL to be saying like
- 4:46Speaker 2: this is over five games in. I think again, a
- 4:50Speaker 2: longer sampling, and I do think it's there is a
- 4:55Speaker 2: problem when you're listening to Bears fans in particular because
- 4:59Speaker 2: they're organization is so bad, is so toxically bad that
- 5:05Speaker 2: they they know they can't get to your level, so
- 5:08Speaker 2: their plan is to drag you down to their level.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Before I let the rage that's seeping out of Jake's
- 5:17Speaker 1: face enter his microphone at those last remarks, this is gonna,
- 5:22Speaker 1: unfortunately be a little bit of two on one here, Gareth,
- 5:25Speaker 1: because how I view the division is like a group
- 5:28Speaker 1: of brothers. But we don't have the same dad. The
- 5:34Speaker 1: Packers their dad had a one night stand with our mom.
- 5:39Speaker 1: They had. He's he's like a textile, you know, king,
- 5:43Speaker 1: He's got sixty million dollars so far.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I love the dad, but keep going. I feel like,
- 5:47Speaker 2: is this okay?
- 5:48Speaker 3: I figure the dad too.
- 5:50Speaker 2: By the way, the dad's a textile guy who's sleeping
- 5:53Speaker 2: with great. Let's go sleeping with his back to the textile.
- 5:58Speaker 2: But let's go yeah, great.
- 5:59Speaker 1: He has not taught his children the realities of the world.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's a bit of a trust fun baby. You crash
- 6:08Speaker 1: your Maserati and you go, don't worry. The next car
- 6:11Speaker 1: is a Porsche. It's that sort of stuff.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Well, Chyle, Okay, no, no, no, I'm gonna let you defend no.
- 6:17Speaker 3: No, no, it's your show. It's your show. We both
- 6:20Speaker 3: know Gareth would love just.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Ja don't don't. Don't tell Cy what he can't. Let's
- 6:26Speaker 2: we're both saying the same thing. But I just don't
- 6:27Speaker 2: like the way Ja.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I'm sorry about his dad. He's acting like him right now.
- 6:32Speaker 2: The textile magnate.
- 6:34Speaker 1: The point is you're an entitled older brother. Thank you
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't much recognize the realities.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 6:42Speaker 2: That's thank you. Keep going say that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Jake and I live in with our dad, who you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: gave us a reasonable.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Work, like working class salt.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Jake's dad made him eat toenails with no water. Keep going, say.
- 6:57Speaker 1: We can all agree that regardless of what happened with
- 7:00Speaker 1: the first three children, the Detroit Lions was the little
- 7:04Speaker 1: brother who, like we thought he was putting sugar on
- 7:06Speaker 1: his cereal for eight years, but it was borax.
- 7:09Speaker 3: But he's he seems he seems to be a bad man.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Right now. I will say about the Detroit Lions is
- 7:14Speaker 3: I had a lot of fun with that head coach
- 7:16Speaker 3: when he started, and oh the great I thought, what's
- 7:20Speaker 3: his name Campbell? Again?
- 7:21Speaker 2: Campbell?
- 7:21Speaker 3: I thought he was the clown of all clowns. I
- 7:25Speaker 3: thought they did it again. I loved his talking about
- 7:28Speaker 3: how much Caffeini drinks.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 7:30Speaker 3: And then I saw Hard Knocks and I thought, if
- 7:33Speaker 3: I were a player, I wouldn't mind being on this
- 7:36Speaker 3: team that seems to respect the players and building a
- 7:39Speaker 3: new culture. And now I think the NFC North is
- 7:41Speaker 3: in a little bit of trouble.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Well, I think I think that whenever I watch Hard Knocks.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I'm like, this team's gonna win the super Bowl, That's true.
- 7:47Speaker 2: And so I thought that with the Lions too. I
- 7:49Speaker 2: was like, yeah, you always think that, but they are real,
- 7:52Speaker 2: no doubt. I mean, that team is well coached, has
- 7:54Speaker 2: great personnel players.
- 7:56Speaker 1: We just don't expect anything from him, So anything they do,
- 7:59Speaker 1: you're like, holy shit, What's But I watched Hard Knocks
- 8:03Speaker 1: two and that opening speech he gave. If I was
- 8:06Speaker 1: in charge of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I
- 8:08Speaker 1: would be less focused on performance and more focused on
- 8:11Speaker 1: could we get that rambling, fun mess of a speech
- 8:15Speaker 1: in there. He's like the non cowardly Lion. I just
- 8:19Speaker 1: I love him. It's hard to dislike anything they're doing
- 8:22Speaker 1: over there.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Can I tell you something that Gareth has said about
- 8:25Speaker 3: his team in terms of like the opposite of what
- 8:27Speaker 3: Dan Campbell says to his team every year when Aaron
- 8:30Speaker 3: Rondgers were choking the playoffs, because we in the NFC
- 8:32Speaker 3: North not talking tracks.
- 8:34Speaker 2: From when he won the Super Bowl. But go ahead,
- 8:36Speaker 2: so long ago. But we also not like eighty five.
- 8:38Speaker 2: You've been living off the fumes of that forever. He's continued,
- 8:41Speaker 2: I'm asking you to keep talking, Please keep talking.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I want you to so whenever they choke, I always say, like,
- 8:47Speaker 3: here we go again. And then in a moment, Gareth
- 8:49Speaker 3: gets really emotional about the Packers. If you can tell
- 8:52Speaker 3: you and I side, we're doing the same thing. We're
- 8:54Speaker 3: wearing regular shirts like adults. He's wearing a nine year
- 8:57Speaker 3: old boy T shirt of the Green Bay Packers because
- 9:00Speaker 3: we were no because emotionally he's different, okay, and so
- 9:06Speaker 3: so we love our teams. You work for your team, right,
- 9:09Speaker 3: He's like a little.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Bit, I'm an owner of my team. It's sad.
- 9:15Speaker 3: It's because Dad the textile guy. But so when I said, like,
- 9:18Speaker 3: well you guys choked again. In a moment of pure anger,
- 9:21Speaker 3: he wrote a text that will live on forever, where
- 9:23Speaker 3: he wrote the point is is to go far, dude.
- 9:28Speaker 3: So as Packers fans, they're not looking to win Super Bowl,
- 9:31Speaker 3: the point is to go far. That that's because that's
- 9:37Speaker 3: not the point. The point is to win a super Bowl.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Go ahead? Sorry?
- 9:40Speaker 2: Right? And how many of those winning? Just size laughing
- 9:43Speaker 2: right now? So I'll take go ahead. I'm gonna have
- 9:45Speaker 2: a heart attack.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Go ahead. I'm also sorry for Gareth he just rambles
- 9:50Speaker 3: on and on. I go ahead side?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Why can't I mute? Jake Zoom is so tricky? I
- 9:55Speaker 2: will admit that that text was soon after I went
- 9:59Speaker 2: that was isn't great? But the point behind it was
- 10:02Speaker 2: my team's good, Your team's dog crash?
- 10:06Speaker 3: And what's the bet we made about the Super Bowl? Uh?
- 10:09Speaker 3: And Jordan Love by twenty five years. He believes that
- 10:12Speaker 3: Jordan Love will win a Super Bowl and be the
- 10:15Speaker 3: starting quarterback of the Packers while they do it.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I believe manifesting.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I believe they are three years away from a true
- 10:22Speaker 3: rebuild because I don't think the head coach is it.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I think that they were all under the Aaron Rodgers umbrella.
- 10:28Speaker 3: You saw what he did on the Jets and the
- 10:29Speaker 3: Hard Knocks where he made everybody better. But miss a
- 10:32Speaker 3: middling team that has And.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Then I'm on side of talk wit. Admit it, admit
- 10:39Speaker 2: the whole time that Aaron Rodgers was the Packers quarterback,
- 10:43Speaker 2: you talked shit the holt. So it's like your opinion
- 10:46Speaker 2: of Aaron Rodgers when he left was.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Can I tell you why? Can I tell you why?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Because you're delusional?
- 10:51Speaker 3: Can I tell you why?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Because you don't know what it's like to win, And
- 10:54Speaker 2: it's like it just has manifested in some really bizarre
- 10:57Speaker 2: ways in your head. That arguably is really said because
- 11:00Speaker 2: you think every offseason, this is the Bears year, and
- 11:02Speaker 2: then every three years you have to fire your GM
- 11:05Speaker 2: or your coach and restart, and then you draft a
- 11:07Speaker 2: quarterback and you're like, he's the future and he has
- 11:09Speaker 2: three years of middling And then.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Can I tell you why?
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah? What you say it, I'm asking because.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers is a super weird guy that we all
- 11:16Speaker 3: now know. But at the time, I was about nine
- 11:19Speaker 3: years ahead of that when he was wearing all denim
- 11:21Speaker 3: and a cowboy hat, and I would send it to
- 11:23Speaker 3: you as a Texas tuxedo. That's a great look, and
- 11:26Speaker 3: you would say things like that. Go ahead.
- 11:31Speaker 1: The fact that you're still friends after you sent that
- 11:35Speaker 1: text message. The point is to go far Comma, dude,
- 11:39Speaker 1: is shocking Because I have this trash talk rule. I
- 11:43Speaker 1: would have unleashed on that I wouldn't have been able
- 11:45Speaker 1: to like it too. And what I've had to learn
- 11:48Speaker 1: is that I can trash talk generic fans, but within
- 11:54Speaker 1: my interpersonal relationships my closest friends who are fans of
- 11:59Speaker 1: other teams, we just have this understanding that I get
- 12:04Speaker 1: frustrated and I can turn inward. I'm a big turn
- 12:07Speaker 1: inward guy. Interesting, and so if somebody sends me a
- 12:12Speaker 1: message that really sucks after a terrible loss, they're gonna
- 12:16Speaker 1: get something that's not about football back. They're gonna get
- 12:20Speaker 1: get nasty. Yeah, they're gonna get a you know how
- 12:22Speaker 1: you can't stand the way your dad treats people. You
- 12:25Speaker 1: do the same thing but in different ways. Like that's
- 12:28Speaker 1: what you're getting back from me.
- 12:30Speaker 3: See, I will say, Gareth and I we go really hard,
- 12:34Speaker 3: but we both live in the same zone with it.
- 12:37Speaker 3: We never I will go on a little bit that
- 12:40Speaker 3: the you know, Gareth has stretches where he lives with
- 12:42Speaker 3: his mom and dresses like a nine year old boy.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I will tap into.
- 12:45Speaker 2: That complete again. If Jake wanted to live in reality,
- 12:49Speaker 2: we'd love to have him, as with all the Bears fans,
- 12:51Speaker 2: but unfortunately they've accepted an invitation to La La Land,
- 12:54Speaker 2: where they want to play in flowers and drinking candy
- 12:57Speaker 2: cane rivers.
- 12:58Speaker 3: In the last month, Gareth, whose roof have you lived under?
- 13:01Speaker 2: The I was in hotels while I was touring in
- 13:04Speaker 2: the United Kingdom. Garethriddles dot conference information and where my
- 13:07Speaker 2: mother lives? I spent some time there on a bit percentages.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Were you in your mother's home.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It's Steve forty mom seventy seventy thirty.
- 13:19Speaker 3: If you're with your mother's house seventy thirty, you live
- 13:22Speaker 3: with your mom Homeboy.
- 13:24Speaker 2: No, you're staying there, Siy, Please join me.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Don't don't you there? Don't you dare bring me into
- 13:31Speaker 1: this one.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I ask you a question if you lived with your
- 13:33Speaker 3: mother seventy percent or stayed with your mother seventy time?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Do you live with your mom?
- 13:40Speaker 1: Here's the big question? When you left your mom's Gareth,
- 13:45Speaker 1: where you go? Where are you going home?
- 13:47Speaker 2: To my home? Where's that at California, Los Angeles? Does
- 13:52Speaker 2: it have an address? Is it a home?
- 13:54Speaker 1: You're gonna get or is it a home box?
- 13:56Speaker 2: I'm not your I'm not male. I'm not going to
- 13:59Speaker 2: give the address, but yeah, there's my stuff's there.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Hey, Si, have you ever heard of someone's home as
- 14:04Speaker 3: a po box? At a weird mailbox in La where
- 14:07Speaker 3: he asked me to pick him up sometime? He goes, Hey,
- 14:09Speaker 3: can you grab all my mail? I'm going to be
- 14:11Speaker 3: at my mommy's place wearing my little Packers gear. And
- 14:13Speaker 3: can you please show us your right arm?
- 14:15Speaker 2: Si?
- 14:16Speaker 3: Can you show us your right arm?
- 14:17Speaker 1: You have to admit, Gareth, you pulled your sleeve up.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I'd like to see the other sleep because here's the thing.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I'm not going to buy the other arm. We are
- 14:23Speaker 1: going to talk. We are going to talk about this.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Oh I love Yeah, give me that bad boy. I
- 14:29Speaker 1: love a good tattoo that you should get.
- 14:32Speaker 2: You must love this. Oh wait, and you have.
- 14:36Speaker 1: What's that Jake about an oblong softball size? There? It's
- 14:40Speaker 1: not a small green Bay Packers logo.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Tennis ball, bicep, it's a tennis ball.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It's a tennis ball size green Bay Packers logo.
- 14:50Speaker 2: How old were you?
- 14:52Speaker 1: How'd you feel about it when you got it? And
- 14:54Speaker 1: how do you feel today?
- 14:56Speaker 2: Twenty four I felt real good again. It's hard to
- 15:02Speaker 2: explain to you too. I understand why you guys are
- 15:05Speaker 2: gonna have fun with this, but you don't know what
- 15:07Speaker 2: winning like. Often consistently Super Bowls, you don't know what
- 15:12Speaker 2: that's like.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Because the point is is to go far. The point
- 15:15Speaker 3: is is to go for.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Well the furthest. The point is to go furthest. But
- 15:18Speaker 2: if you're going far, your team's pretty good, which is
- 15:20Speaker 2: a good indicator. But uh, and then now I feel
- 15:23Speaker 2: very happy about it, still proud. It's a connection to
- 15:25Speaker 2: where I'm from. I love the Packers. I'm a part owner.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I have Nick Barnett, former linebacker, follows me on Twitter.
- 15:34Speaker 2: So does Gilbert Brown. I'm piped in.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Things are good, Jake geeky ending, So Gilbert Brown, nice
- 15:43Speaker 1: wrap up. Anytime you finish up with Gilbert Brown, people
- 15:46Speaker 1: in your home state are gonna love that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: That's right, and that's what I'm playing to. I'm not
- 15:50Speaker 2: playing to you leaves up front.
- 15:52Speaker 3: So sorry when you guys asked me to do this.
- 15:54Speaker 3: The reason I've brought garethon is because the Bears.
- 15:59Speaker 2: It's all reflection.
- 16:01Speaker 3: He's this is not about This is not about our podcast.
- 16:04Speaker 3: We're here to help. This isn't connect.
- 16:06Speaker 2: No, It's like if you if like your child gets
- 16:09Speaker 2: burned and you start shaking keys in front of its
- 16:11Speaker 2: face to just sort of take its mind off the burn.
- 16:14Speaker 2: That is what a Bears fan. That's the metaphor.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Are you saying you're the keys?
- 16:20Speaker 2: You're a metaphor for him?
- 16:21Speaker 1: Distracting his football is like, hey, you know when a
- 16:25Speaker 1: newborn gets torched and you have to hold Jack.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Is trying to cover his pain with anything shiny that
- 16:32Speaker 2: can take his mind off it for a minute. He
- 16:34Speaker 2: has the brain of a raven. He's smart, but he
- 16:36Speaker 2: also loves the shiny thing, and that's what he needs
- 16:39Speaker 2: because his day to day life is looking for grubs
- 16:42Speaker 2: and dirt.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Thank you for lying and saying I was smart. Here's
- 16:45Speaker 3: what I will say. Say we got a big game
- 16:47Speaker 3: on Sunday, and I will say it is a pivotal
- 16:51Speaker 3: game in the division. And here's why you guys just
- 16:54Speaker 3: lost your wide receiver. I'm not a believer in Kirk Cousin.
- 16:58Speaker 3: You're not either, I know, Nope, nobody on planet Earth is.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I think he's really rock solid, but he's just not
- 17:06Speaker 3: the guy. I think your head coach had a great
- 17:09Speaker 3: year last year, but I do think you guys won
- 17:12Speaker 3: a lot of close games, and this year it might
- 17:14Speaker 3: be a revealing process of who the vikings might be.
- 17:18Speaker 3: The Bears, we were very overhyped.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I was really I was just gonna say, who was.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Hold on you? Animal? We have underperformed. But I will
- 17:29Speaker 3: say the last two weeks there's a kid out of
- 17:32Speaker 3: Ohio State and Justin Fields, who's playing some great football
- 17:37Speaker 3: this week. If he throws up another game the way
- 17:40Speaker 3: he's been doing, and our defense under Eberflus, which is
- 17:44Speaker 3: why we got that sob and boy has he under delivered.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But if our defense finally plays some version of a
- 17:50Speaker 3: cover two, that I guess is excited and we can
- 17:53Speaker 3: shut you guys down without your wide receiver and put
- 17:56Speaker 3: up real numbers, Well the NFC North just got excited
- 17:59Speaker 3: because I think Jordan Love is on the beginning of
- 18:01Speaker 3: a downward spiral. That is the big game.
- 18:05Speaker 2: What's your deal? It's an obsession. It's a disgusting obsession.
- 18:09Speaker 3: And so I think this Sunday, I think the Lions
- 18:12Speaker 3: are going to win the division, and I think there's
- 18:15Speaker 3: another team out of the NFC North who could sneak
- 18:18Speaker 3: into the playoffs. But if the Vikings dominate this Sunday,
- 18:22Speaker 3: the Bears are in tank mode. Eber Flutes is fired.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I think everybody's on the chopping block. But if we win,
- 18:29Speaker 3: I think you guys are starting to chase the Caleb
- 18:31Speaker 3: Williams Lotto and I think one of the teams after
- 18:35Speaker 3: this Sunday their seasons over.
- 18:36Speaker 2: You saw how he fumbled his pen right there, say
- 18:38Speaker 2: just classic Bears fan, can't hold on to anything for
- 18:41Speaker 2: too long. It was a.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Unique combination of impressive football thought and poor hand eye coordination.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You don't get those two next to one another in
- 18:50Speaker 1: real time very often.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Well, you put them on the field.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Was what I was going to do was a spin
- 18:54Speaker 3: And in my head I thought the spin, and I.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Realized, you're not Lars Olrik. Yeah what are you doing?
- 18:58Speaker 3: Because I've never practiced. It was gonna be this who's
- 19:02Speaker 3: gonna go and then? And that will determine our season.
- 19:05Speaker 2: That's not bad. We could fix it a post. We
- 19:08Speaker 2: could fix it a post.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Yeah, you said your editor is a genius.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah that was real sad, So.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Say, what do you think of that? That push in
- 19:15Speaker 3: terms of Sunday. Where are we at? What do you
- 19:17Speaker 3: think the Vikings fans are going to feel about that?
- 19:19Speaker 3: And what do you feel about it?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Gohead, there's no need for me to talk. I just
- 19:22Speaker 2: watched two losers scrap it out in the sewer. I
- 19:28Speaker 2: think you're wait, who do I.
- 19:29Speaker 3: See down here? Jordan Love and that little geek coach
- 19:32Speaker 3: of yours.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I thought we weren't talking about it. I'm sorry, I'm
- 19:34Speaker 2: upstairs in the mansion with the textile money.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I mean, that's your fans, not your team. Do not
- 19:41Speaker 1: use my metaphors against me. I I think there's some
- 19:45Speaker 1: truths in what you just said. I will tell you.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I don't like going to Chicago. Two things. Chicago's a
- 19:52Speaker 1: great city. It's hard to make fun of.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I don't.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It's not like I'm going to manit walk. I'm going to.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Shoo that one cut the My mother used to live
- 20:01Speaker 3: in Mantua, that one, that one got his boat boom.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And by the way, you're talking about a major metropolitan
- 20:07Speaker 2: city versus somewhere in the bumble aft. No, don't, don't.
- 20:11Speaker 2: You can't.
- 20:11Speaker 1: You can't play both sides of the game.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Go to a roorchy and be like, ooh, the big
- 20:16Speaker 2: town look at that.
- 20:18Speaker 1: But they're they're not the Champagne Bears.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so so I can I just say really fast. So,
- 20:23Speaker 3: Gareth and I do a podcast called We're Here to Help.
- 20:26Speaker 3: It's an advice podcast. It's been going really great. There
- 20:29Speaker 3: is a real problem with it, and that is the
- 20:32Speaker 3: yap and yap yap from Little Packer Boy because he
- 20:35Speaker 3: just doesn't know when it's time for the other to speak,
- 20:39Speaker 3: as in, you side.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Well, to be fair, we're used to being a top something,
- 20:44Speaker 2: no shot, but go ahead side, we want.
- 20:45Speaker 1: You to talk about God, I got nothing.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I hate going to Chicago.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We could have Randy Moss and Jerry Rice in their
- 20:52Speaker 1: prime and we'd walk into Chicago and be up ten
- 20:56Speaker 1: to eight with a minute thirty to play, and Justin
- 20:58Speaker 1: Fields would have the ball driving down for a field goal.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I don't know what our record is in Chicago, like definitively,
- 21:05Speaker 1: but in the last twenty years we probably haven't won
- 21:07Speaker 1: more than three times. I hate this game. This is
- 21:09Speaker 1: like one of my least favorite games of the year.
- 21:11Speaker 3: What do you think about getting rid of Cook as
- 21:13Speaker 3: a running back? Because I didn't get that. I think
- 21:15Speaker 3: he's such a talent.
- 21:17Speaker 1: My ideology with coaches and general managers is bring them
- 21:24Speaker 1: in when they come in. I'm not smart enough to
- 21:26Speaker 1: make those decisions, and so I like to be proven,
- 21:30Speaker 1: like prove to me that I shouldn't like you. And
- 21:35Speaker 1: so we are so early into it, and Quacy has
- 21:38Speaker 1: done such a good job with a number of moves,
- 21:41Speaker 1: and O'Connell, like you said that, dude was incredible last year.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I'm not quite at the point where I'm going I
- 21:48Speaker 1: hate these moves.
- 21:49Speaker 2: That's a good attitude because when it's early, you shouldn't
- 21:52Speaker 2: jump and rush to judgments because that's what loser organizations do,
- 21:56Speaker 2: you know. So like, if you have someone new, give
- 21:59Speaker 2: him a second before you start saying crazy stuff.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Is Jordan Love considered newer?
- 22:04Speaker 2: It's he in year four, He's played five games as
- 22:06Speaker 2: a starter. So what are you talking about exactly?
- 22:09Speaker 3: But Aaron Rodgers his first year, he was in the
- 22:11Speaker 3: playoffs breaking round. He was, yes, he was, I've sent
- 22:14Speaker 3: you the tech, I've sent you the article.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Geek, here's a question for you. I know we were
- 22:19Speaker 1: getting into the game a little bit, but I need
- 22:21Speaker 1: to know both you guys are super successful dudes, and
- 22:26Speaker 1: my favorite thing to ask guys who are die hards
- 22:30Speaker 1: and have started to achieve success in their careers. I mean, Jake,
- 22:34Speaker 1: with your character on New Girl, obviously you had to
- 22:37Speaker 1: have had something to do with the Chicago tie.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Yeah. So when the show started, my character and Lamarn's
- 22:45Speaker 3: character Winston were supposed to be from ann Arbor, Michigan,
- 22:48Speaker 3: and Liz Meriweather had spent She'd grown up near ann Arbor, Michigan.
- 22:53Speaker 3: And I said, thank you for the job. I'd love
- 22:56Speaker 3: to do it. He's from Chicago. I'm from Chicago. If
- 22:59Speaker 3: you do Michigan, we're gonna have to connect to that
- 23:02Speaker 3: and it's gonna really alienate me. Can we make them
- 23:05Speaker 3: from Chicago? And then we were able to talk Cubs
- 23:07Speaker 3: and Rizzo and the Bears and the Bulls and it
- 23:10Speaker 3: just makes it so much more fun.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Have you guys had because of, you know, being more
- 23:16Speaker 1: synonymous with the teams you love? Have you guys had
- 23:18Speaker 1: cool moments? I mentioned Gilbert Brown.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Follows me, right, did I say that? I'll go ahead
- 23:23Speaker 2: side sorry with that. But here's the thing.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Gilbert Brown was a phenomenon for a few years.
- 23:28Speaker 2: He had a burger named after from a burger kick.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Things are good, go ahead side.
- 23:31Speaker 1: But there are those moments. I remember they let me
- 23:34Speaker 1: on the field before games every once in a while,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and they shouldn't absolutely because everybody else is a grown up,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and I'm like, uh, it's.
- 23:41Speaker 2: The guy I root for. Can I hold the marker? Yeah?
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I got a cool one. I got a I
- 23:46Speaker 3: had gotten in touch in twenty sixteen with some of
- 23:49Speaker 3: the Cubs and we were on Twitter DM and each
- 23:53Speaker 3: other what have you, And I'd gotten to know John
- 23:56Speaker 3: Lester a little bit and it was Game seven and
- 23:59Speaker 3: I was like inch cago with my dad and was like,
- 24:02Speaker 3: you know, it's like a little dork just the end,
- 24:04Speaker 3: like at a great game, John, And I thought like,
- 24:08Speaker 3: I was like, we're all written for you here in
- 24:09Speaker 3: Chicago or something so just nerdy and it just true excitement.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And I thought, you know, if you're about to pitch
- 24:17Speaker 3: Game seven of the World Series, you must be in
- 24:20Speaker 3: some like weird tank where you're just like eating protein
- 24:25Speaker 3: and stretching. And he wrote back like thanks man, It's
- 24:28Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of fun. He's like, I'm feeling good.
- 24:30Speaker 3: And I wrote back like thank you for responding on
- 24:33Speaker 3: this glorious day and we just went back and forth
- 24:37Speaker 3: a little bit, and he was so normal, you know.
- 24:39Speaker 3: It was like He's like, yeah, everything's good. How's ever?
- 24:41Speaker 2: And I was like, whoa, put your phone down, man? Focus? Yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 2: was that unsettling.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I saw Dwight Howard before the biggest.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Game of the Lakers.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yere once pitching a show and at like Relativity Television,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and I like, as he was walking out, I was like,
- 24:56Speaker 1: go go to the gym.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Well, you realize they're they're not They're not like us
- 25:01Speaker 3: as fans, like when we're watching games. They'll be like
- 25:04Speaker 3: nine adults standing up on their right foot because they're like,
- 25:07Speaker 3: I'm so nervous and if I step on my left
- 25:10Speaker 3: foot they might lose. This is just what they do.
- 25:13Speaker 2: No, there's that Joe Montana story where he saw John
- 25:15Speaker 2: Candy in the crowd during the Super Bowl.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the best.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Thank you for saying I'm super successful. So I'm still
- 25:21Speaker 2: nothing good as happening as far as the Packers go.
- 25:24Speaker 2: But after a show once I did do a show
- 25:29Speaker 2: and mention the Packers, and then Nick Barnett was standing
- 25:33Speaker 2: there and I couldn't place him because you know how
- 25:36Speaker 2: like you sip you go through running. You go through
- 25:37Speaker 2: like all these players so quickly and you know them
- 25:40Speaker 2: completely and then like three years later you're like what.
- 25:43Speaker 2: And I was like looking at him and it took
- 25:46Speaker 2: me about a minute and a half, like we'd taken
- 25:48Speaker 2: a picture before. I was like Nick Barnett. And then
- 25:51Speaker 2: we went out and hung out that night. But outside
- 25:54Speaker 2: of that, I wasn't texting anyone. Before Game seven, I
- 25:58Speaker 2: did get to tour the vikings before it was open. Really,
- 26:02Speaker 2: uh yeah, I took because there was a guy I
- 26:05Speaker 2: knew who whatever basically was like, if you want to
- 26:08Speaker 2: come take a look, and I was like okay, And
- 26:09Speaker 2: I was white and they made me wear a Viking's
- 26:11Speaker 2: hard hat. As I was walking around, I was like,
- 26:13Speaker 2: this is some bullshit. And then as I was walking around,
- 26:17Speaker 2: I just in the distance see a golden God a
- 26:21Speaker 2: guy working with a packer's hard hat on, and I
- 26:24Speaker 2: went over to him and I'm like yeah, and I
- 26:25Speaker 2: showed him my awesome tattoo quite Jake and uh, and
- 26:28Speaker 2: we like talked for a minute. I can't remember. Someone
- 26:31Speaker 2: said like they wrote an article, but I googled him
- 26:33Speaker 2: and they and the Journal Sentinel in Milwaukee. They'd written
- 26:36Speaker 2: an article about working behind enemy lines.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and the worker afterwards said like that little boy
- 26:43Speaker 3: was really nice. I was glad I made his day.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I'm just worrying a hat at work and some little
- 26:47Speaker 3: boy ran up to me and was like, oh, whoa,
- 26:50Speaker 3: I have a tattoo? Can I have a hug? Are you?
- 26:53Speaker 2: I'll tell your little d weird o DM story. I
- 26:56Speaker 2: let you get away with it. Living in your fan
- 26:58Speaker 2: is why I was a reeping This guy out.
- 27:01Speaker 3: The guy the report that didn't get in there is
- 27:03Speaker 3: Gary said will you be my dad?
- 27:04Speaker 2: What did he say?
- 27:05Speaker 1: How did he respond?
- 27:06Speaker 2: I said, good luck with the stadium, even if you
- 27:08Speaker 2: don't finish it. The point is to go far. You
- 27:10Speaker 2: don't need to finish the whole thing for it to
- 27:12Speaker 2: be an amazing time. Just just build as much as
- 27:16Speaker 2: you can and then on.
- 27:16Speaker 3: The point for the Bears, it's to stay in Soldier
- 27:18Speaker 3: Field forever.
- 27:19Speaker 1: For some reason, I've told this story a lot, and
- 27:22Speaker 1: I will shortcut it. But my brother in law was
- 27:27Speaker 1: very close with somebody in the organ. We didn't get
- 27:29Speaker 1: to go to games growing up, and so when I
- 27:31Speaker 1: got older and my brother in law had this connection,
- 27:34Speaker 1: it was a like kid in a candy store type stuff,
- 27:37Speaker 1: kind of like you with a guy with a packer's
- 27:39Speaker 1: construction hat on. And so he brought us down on
- 27:42Speaker 1: the field and it was the far viear. It was
- 27:45Speaker 1: the first far year and we were brought onto the
- 27:49Speaker 1: field like where I got to go see a losers
- 27:51Speaker 1: to all the people who had the coolest spot.
- 27:55Speaker 2: And he tapped.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Brett Farv and went Brett and like intered Eustas and
- 28:01Speaker 1: all I said to him, like you think you can
- 28:03Speaker 1: handle those moments? I just said the word gunslinger.
- 28:07Speaker 2: That's it.
- 28:08Speaker 1: That was my whole I went gun slinger and he
- 28:11Speaker 1: was like yeah, and then he just went like it was.
- 28:16Speaker 1: It was very so I'm not I'm not built for it.
- 28:19Speaker 1: If John, if I was texting John Lester before Game seven, I'd.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Been like, what are you eating? What's happened? I wouldn't.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I was selling no chance. Hey, Gareth, do we have
- 28:27Speaker 3: a Brett Farv Viking story?
- 28:30Speaker 2: No, we don't, and unfortunately we do have to hop
- 28:33Speaker 2: off side. This has been an incredible time, but we
- 28:37Speaker 2: have a we have a nine thirty. No we do.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Yeah, just like I have told that story on the
- 28:44Speaker 1: show before. It was of no value to the program
- 28:47Speaker 1: for me to tell it again. It was literally in
- 28:50Speaker 1: hopes that as I cast that big Brett fav worm
- 28:53Speaker 1: outa into the water that there would be a bass.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Wait, Bobber's bobbin.
- 28:58Speaker 3: And there's there's a mass.
- 28:59Speaker 2: There's some bites. Jake again, to his credit, I call
- 29:04Speaker 2: him rule Book because he's just very he has We've
- 29:08Speaker 2: talked about it even with our podcast. He there is
- 29:12Speaker 2: a really he has a very specific skill set, which
- 29:17Speaker 2: is he reads things very well. Not sports. But he
- 29:22Speaker 2: said to me, and I think it was I think
- 29:24Speaker 2: I don't even think Brett Farv had signed with the
- 29:27Speaker 2: Vikings yet. It was just like the plane was going
- 29:30Speaker 2: to killn Mississippi, like there was just there were storm clouds.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Very emotional, He was very emotional.
- 29:36Speaker 2: And I was in not a good place with it,
- 29:38Speaker 2: as as always, and Jake wanted to exploit. Jake wanted
- 29:41Speaker 2: to exploit it as usual, because you are a vicious
- 29:45Speaker 2: personality despite our charming. You see the time and hold.
- 29:48Speaker 3: On, let me get you, and then you remember exactly
- 29:50Speaker 3: where you're at. I said, with that team of the Vikings,
- 29:53Speaker 3: you guys were good, but you didn't have a quarterback.
- 29:56Speaker 3: And correct, you guys were very real, and Brett Favre
- 29:59Speaker 3: was still good. And I go, if Farv goes to
- 30:02Speaker 3: the Vikings, they're going to be dangerous and he goes, no, No,
- 30:06Speaker 3: Farvar is done. I go, if they go, they're going
- 30:07Speaker 3: to be dangerous, go ahead.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I was in a tough spot and I was going no, no,
- 30:11Speaker 2: and I'm going, I don't you know, I don't know.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Jake goes, well, what would you do if they won
- 30:16Speaker 2: the super Bowl with Farv? And that's when I got
- 30:18Speaker 2: a case of not going to happen. So I was like,
- 30:20Speaker 2: not gonna happen, not gonna have Well, what would you
- 30:21Speaker 2: do if it? If it did, it's not gonna happen, Well,
- 30:24Speaker 2: what would you do? I'm not nothing, it won't happen.
- 30:26Speaker 3: No, I said, well what might happen? And you go
- 30:29Speaker 3: out of nowhere? You go, if brat Farv goes to
- 30:33Speaker 3: the Vikings that they win a super Bowl, I will
- 30:35Speaker 3: put a little wooden rod into the whole of my
- 30:40Speaker 3: penis and break it off. And I said, I go, Gareth,
- 30:44Speaker 3: we were taking a hike hike in Griffith and I go, well, Gareth,
- 30:48Speaker 3: that's stupid. You'll never do that. And he goes they won't.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I go, let's get to reality.
- 30:53Speaker 2: The Jakesy's blood in the water. He's got a good
- 30:56Speaker 2: chump sense, like I said, And he said, well, why
- 30:59Speaker 2: don't we grind it? How about if Brett Farvre takes
- 31:02Speaker 2: the Vikings to the super Bowl and plays the first
- 31:05Speaker 2: half he's a big plays the first half guy and
- 31:07Speaker 2: wins and wins, then you to go along with your
- 31:12Speaker 2: packer tattoo, have to get a tattoo on your calf
- 31:15Speaker 2: a farvitage Vikings, Jersey.
- 31:17Speaker 3: With the writing of it, my MVP Minnesota's Brett Farvre.
- 31:23Speaker 2: This is a moment that I should have read better.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I just said let's go, because for the rest of
- 31:28Speaker 2: the year people would say, well, what do you get
- 31:31Speaker 2: if he doesn't get it? And I would go nothing,
- 31:34Speaker 2: And people were like, that's not a bet, that's just
- 31:36Speaker 2: a stupid thing. That's like a contract you signed without
- 31:38Speaker 2: reading the top. And I'm like, yeah, it's a fair point.
- 31:41Speaker 3: So we shook hands on it. Gareth earned the nickname
- 31:44Speaker 3: from that moment. I was rule book and he was
- 31:46Speaker 3: Option one. And then the season starts and as we know, magical.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Magical, he's not fire. He's there's games where it's over
- 31:57Speaker 2: and he's fine his spots in the end zone.
- 31:59Speaker 1: You didn't know existence that Niners game living in it.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Like the first few games were a little chunky because
- 32:06Speaker 1: it's an old man quarterback and a run dominant offense,
- 32:10Speaker 1: and even some of like the state hadn't completely bought in.
- 32:13Speaker 1: But when he threw that like whatever yard touchdown to
- 32:16Speaker 1: a receiver who just joined the team a day ago
- 32:19Speaker 1: or whatever, we're like, this is what it feels like.
- 32:22Speaker 2: It was tough to watch, and so on and on
- 32:26Speaker 2: they go. Magical season. And as the season's progressing, Jake's
- 32:30Speaker 2: texts are getting a little more specific. I wouldn't even
- 32:33Speaker 2: say just he's starting to send dimension questions what do
- 32:39Speaker 2: you think in like six seven inches? You know, because what.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Gareth and I do and one of the reasons we
- 32:43Speaker 3: do the podcast together is we do a lot of bits,
- 32:47Speaker 3: but we do take everything we say seriously, so the
- 32:50Speaker 3: advice will give. The reason we like kind of stupid
- 32:52Speaker 3: callers is because we're not real therapists. But whoever calls
- 32:56Speaker 3: in with whatever problem we're gonna try to solve, and
- 32:58Speaker 3: for this he's at it. So we are going to
- 33:01Speaker 3: do a tattoo. We are gonna sit together. I don't
- 33:04Speaker 3: need it to cover his whole leg, but we're not
- 33:06Speaker 3: gonna do when that's an inch big, we are going
- 33:08Speaker 3: to go probably cover the calf. Yeah, And Gareth is fair.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I will say, you're very fair. You're like, we're gonna
- 33:14Speaker 3: do it, right, man, let's talk real dimensions. But we're
- 33:17Speaker 3: gonna do If we're gonna do it, I'm gonna get
- 33:19Speaker 3: a real bread far tattoo in a Viking. Seriously, that
- 33:22Speaker 3: is my MVP.
- 33:25Speaker 2: My stress level is is skyrocketing.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Wait, Gareth, can I be honest? My stress level was
- 33:30Speaker 3: panicking because I was like, I have which I don't
- 33:35Speaker 3: know at the time, but we had other friends going like,
- 33:37Speaker 3: you're not going to really hold him to it, and
- 33:39Speaker 3: I'm like, you don't know us. I have to hold
- 33:41Speaker 3: him to it, but I don't want him to get
- 33:42Speaker 3: this tattoo.
- 33:43Speaker 2: It's too much. Well, and it was also other other
- 33:47Speaker 2: friends are starting getting to this gonna be great when
- 33:49Speaker 2: he has to get this tattoo. So it's becoming more
- 33:51Speaker 2: of an event. So we all get together for the
- 33:54Speaker 2: NFC Championship game Viking Saints. I will not I will
- 33:59Speaker 2: not dig my face into the scar that for that game.
- 34:02Speaker 2: But as you remember, they lost, but that game was
- 34:06Speaker 2: not lost because of Brett Farv. People remembered that that
- 34:10Speaker 2: terrible throw in overtime, that was a bad decision, but
- 34:13Speaker 2: Peterson fumbled four times. It was like, felt like a
- 34:16Speaker 2: thousand should have won that game. And for some reason,
- 34:22Speaker 2: the textile daddy in the sky smiled down upon his
- 34:27Speaker 2: beautiful baby boy and said, no, no, no, my friend,
- 34:30Speaker 2: No no no. But it was stressed.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It was so Chad Daniels and I were playing have
- 34:37Speaker 1: you done Skyline? Gareth out in Appleton. Yeah, So we
- 34:40Speaker 1: were playing Skyline the weekend. The first time the Packers
- 34:44Speaker 1: played the Vikings with Brett Farr was a Monday night
- 34:48Speaker 1: game and we were in We were in Appleton playing
- 34:52Speaker 1: Skyline and I had brought with a Vikings far of Jersey,
- 34:57Speaker 1: and Chad, who feels a lot like what's going on
- 35:00Speaker 1: here with you two, was like, wear it, wear it
- 35:03Speaker 1: on stage. I think that'd be neat if you wore
- 35:05Speaker 1: it on stage.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 35:08Speaker 1: So he sends me up on stage. I'm like, of course,
- 35:10Speaker 1: I'll wear it on stage. And then he's in the
- 35:12Speaker 1: back and he has the sound guy queue up the
- 35:14Speaker 1: dun Dun, dun duh the theme music, and then I've
- 35:20Speaker 1: never heard a boo like that in SAE because it's
- 35:22Speaker 1: only a couple hundred people. But You're like, is this
- 35:24Speaker 1: what it feels like to be the most hated wrestler
- 35:27Speaker 1: in the biggest arena on the planet. But then all
- 35:30Speaker 1: of a sudden, I saw the lights slowly come up
- 35:33Speaker 1: because I was full.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I was haulk Hogan like I.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Was into it, and he said he had to bring
- 35:38Speaker 1: the lights up because he saw guys getting that. I'm
- 35:40Speaker 1: gonna throw a full beer at his face vibe. Is
- 35:43Speaker 1: there an example in history that you can think of?
- 35:47Speaker 1: Had it happened, had they won the Super Bowl with
- 35:51Speaker 1: Brett Favre, That's probably the most unique championship story in
- 35:56Speaker 1: sports history because of the huge rivalry, the way it ended.
- 36:01Speaker 1: And then the first year he goes everyone to it
- 36:03Speaker 1: had been like nothing anybody had ever seen. And now
- 36:07Speaker 1: the Vikings fans go, We've won the same amount as
- 36:10Speaker 1: you with.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Farv in one year. It would have been crazy or
- 36:14Speaker 2: just like we won a championship. Is this what it's
- 36:17Speaker 2: like to do the show? Jake? But yeah, what we're
- 36:21Speaker 2: having a fine, what's going on.
- 36:23Speaker 1: It was too quick. But it was too quick and
- 36:26Speaker 1: too mean.
- 36:26Speaker 2: And if I knew you.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Were a sign SI, it's emotion.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I know I'm saying that would be awesome because you
- 36:31Speaker 2: would know, you would understand it. And Jake, Jake, Jake.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Same thing with Jake, because you know if he was
- 36:37Speaker 2: like in diapers when they won the last one. But
- 36:39Speaker 2: they've been living off the fumes of that forever.
- 36:41Speaker 3: So cy cy for you and I. We're just trying
- 36:44Speaker 3: to do a podcast. We're trying to add a little
- 36:48Speaker 3: bit of joy for people. And what we're dealing with
- 36:51Speaker 3: is a guy I love, one of my best friends
- 36:52Speaker 3: on planet Earth. I love the guy. He's got emotional
- 36:55Speaker 3: years ago.
- 36:56Speaker 2: It's nuts forty years ago.
- 36:58Speaker 3: You know, the big problems he has. It's also big
- 37:01Speaker 3: problems the Packers have. And it's the problem the fan
- 37:04Speaker 3: base has. They're not seeing reality, and that is they
- 37:08Speaker 3: have a hole in the middle.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Jake and Jake coming from you seeing reality. Let's be honest,
- 37:14Speaker 2: I mean truly when it comes to football reality.
- 37:17Speaker 3: We have a bet this year, don't we What is
- 37:19Speaker 3: it we do?
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we have bets every year. We used to have
- 37:23Speaker 2: a bet that whoever won the division or went the furthest.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Hey, Garrett, Gareth, this is a this is a Viking podcast.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I don't think they want to hear a Packer fan.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Ramble would buy the winter Dinner and the and the
- 37:36Speaker 2: winner got to put the loser in whatever gear they
- 37:38Speaker 2: wanted for their team. And Jake called the bet the
- 37:41Speaker 2: annual bet off because he just ended up being I
- 37:44Speaker 2: would torture him over his stake every.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Year for years, but now is the moment to revive it.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Now, now is time.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Now we're You can't enter a bet like that when
- 37:54Speaker 1: somebody has one of the whether I am a huge
- 37:57Speaker 1: fan of the guy or not, one of the three
- 38:00Speaker 1: greatest throwers of a football of all times, it's hard
- 38:04Speaker 1: to be like, I want to be in a competition
- 38:06Speaker 1: with you every year. To wear a silly hat like
- 38:08Speaker 1: that's a tough start.
- 38:09Speaker 3: It's a different thing. When he was there, he was
- 38:11Speaker 3: truly special. And the way that they treat legends over
- 38:14Speaker 3: there is a really disgusting thing about the fan base
- 38:16Speaker 3: and the organization because if you've got somebody with that
- 38:19Speaker 3: level of talent that's done that much for your city,
- 38:22Speaker 3: I know, the great fans of Minnesota in a city
- 38:25Speaker 3: in Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Twin Cities. I love them.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I'm actually there this Saturday. The Doll Up, my other podcast,
- 38:32Speaker 2: is going to be in Saint Paul Saturday Fitzgerald Theater,
- 38:35Speaker 2: and I love the town and I love so.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Let everybody go to that show and boo him because
- 38:40Speaker 3: he hates your team.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Let's no No dollapodcast dot com go, let's end.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I do this every week and it's I'm asked to
- 38:49Speaker 1: do it. It's my least favorite part, especially because we
- 38:53Speaker 1: have somebody who has no emotional stake in the game whatsoever. Uh,
- 38:57Speaker 1: let's do predictions for this Sunday's game. Jake, you can
- 39:02Speaker 1: go first. Gareth, I will let you go second.
- 39:06Speaker 3: So I think this game is Our defense isn't great.
- 39:11Speaker 3: So even though you guys don't have your wide receiver,
- 39:14Speaker 3: I think you're gonna put up points. But I think
- 39:17Speaker 3: Justin Fields is starting to come into his own a
- 39:19Speaker 3: little bit, so I think we're gonna put up some points.
- 39:21Speaker 3: DJ Moore and Justin Fields together they have a perfect
- 39:24Speaker 3: rating when Justin throws to him. We had to chase
- 39:28Speaker 3: Claypool ordeal which is now over, which I think kind
- 39:31Speaker 3: of messed up our offense a little bit. I don't
- 39:33Speaker 3: mind the play. I thought he was going to be
- 39:35Speaker 3: great coming out of Notre Dame, but he just wasn't
- 39:36Speaker 3: a fit for us. So I think it's going to
- 39:39Speaker 3: be I think we're gonna take the victory, but I
- 39:41Speaker 3: think it's going to be about thirty one to twenty eight,
- 39:44Speaker 3: and I think it's gonna come down. I think it's
- 39:46Speaker 3: gonna be a very close game. And I think there
- 39:49Speaker 3: it might end with the ball in Kirk Cousins hands.
- 39:53Speaker 2: And don't do it, Dad, And I think it might.
- 39:58Speaker 3: And he ain't for haviny eight Rogers. He's more of
- 40:00Speaker 3: a love go ahead.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Ain't five. Yeah, it's just trying to connect with you
- 40:03Speaker 2: a little bit. But you've proven yourself again to be
- 40:07Speaker 2: a nasty, nasty man.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Uh.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Cry.
- 40:11Speaker 2: First of all, great show. I love being here. I
- 40:14Speaker 2: love the Vikings fans, Saturday Fitzgerald, Theater, Dollar podcast dot Com.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Uh.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I appreciate you having Jake. Jake does not have a
- 40:22Speaker 2: place or a venue a lot of times to kind
- 40:24Speaker 2: of express these delusional thoughts, and it is nice for
- 40:27Speaker 2: him to go play pretend in the in the playroom,
- 40:30Speaker 2: you know what I mean. He's the little kid who
- 40:32Speaker 2: has the Tonka truck, but in his head he's making
- 40:35Speaker 2: some men for the big work site, so it's fun
- 40:37Speaker 2: for him. Now, I want to focus on the prediction.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Uh I will say Jefferson is just a big loss
- 40:42Speaker 2: as you as you know, as much as I despise
- 40:46Speaker 2: the Bears and just Jake's general attitude, uh, I do
- 40:51Speaker 2: think the home field. I think some of the stuff
- 40:53Speaker 2: he said is true. I want you guys to sign
- 40:57Speaker 2: Kirk making real concrete, please, please please. The grown ups
- 41:02Speaker 2: are talking. Go play in the little playroom, Go put
- 41:04Speaker 2: your toys in the little chest, and then you can
- 41:06Speaker 2: have some you know, you can have a little pudding
- 41:09Speaker 2: your feed. Kids putting right, I think that the it's
- 41:11Speaker 2: not going to be a high scoring game, so I
- 41:15Speaker 2: would guess that again. Divisional game, I would think probably
- 41:18Speaker 2: the Bears by around three. I would go somewhere around
- 41:23Speaker 2: the like twenty seventeen zone, probably something like that.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I think those are both reasonable predictions. Thank you, guys,
- 41:32Speaker 1: means a lot that you did the show.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Well. I'm going to close with it.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I just don't want to be I don't want anyone
- 41:37Speaker 1: to respond that's not I'm not interested in that, I'm
- 41:41Speaker 1: gonna go with Thank you, guys, you're fantastic. I we
- 41:44Speaker 1: really had a nice time.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Thank you. I'm good.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I think the Vikings defense is going to come to play,
- 41:49Speaker 1: so I think it'll probably be Bears fourteen Vikings one
- 41:53Speaker 1: hundred and thirty eight. I enjoy both of your personalities.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I've had a really nice time and what's just happy
- 42:02Speaker 1: you next Thursday?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Your eyes are bleeding? Sy? Are you okay?
- 42:10Speaker 1: Big thanks to Jake and Gareth for joining the show,
