- 0:03Speaker 1: Beyond any terror you have imagined.
- 0:09Speaker 2: A nightmare.
- 0:12Speaker 3: No.
- 0:12Speaker 4: Unlike anything you have witnessed.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Is born.
- 0:19Speaker 5: Hi, my name is Andrew Robinson, and you are listening
- 0:23Speaker 5: to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:25Speaker 1: The unholy is unleashed.
- 0:35Speaker 5: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:38Speaker 5: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:42Speaker 5: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:54Speaker 6: It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.
- 0:59Speaker 7: Our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:30Speaker 8: Aren't instruments fun?
- 1:35Speaker 9: Okay, I think you've just crossed my threshold.
- 1:38Speaker 8: What?
- 1:57Speaker 7: Watch a horror movie right there on my TV.
- 2:29Speaker 9: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I'm Misty.
- 2:33Speaker 9: And I'm Jake. And we're coming to you live via
- 2:36Speaker 9: digital recording from the Bastion of Awesomeness. Yeah. For this
- 2:40Speaker 9: very special Horror Club episode. This is the Horror Club
- 2:44Speaker 9: Bastion chapter. I think we did this last time. We've
- 2:49Speaker 9: done a few. Definitely we've done a lot of horror
- 2:51Speaker 9: movies over the years. But I think since we officially
- 2:54Speaker 9: made it Horror Club, we did Wolf Girl.
- 2:56Speaker 7: Wolf Girl.
- 2:58Speaker 9: That was one of the official entries.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Does that mean ours is going to be a Patreon episode?
- 3:02Speaker 9: They should all be on Patreon anyway. But this one
- 3:04Speaker 9: I was going to do as a special promo to
- 3:08Speaker 9: tell people they should be joining the Horror Club so
- 3:11Speaker 9: they can experience all the wonders of the Horror Club.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Oh, they're going to be let down if we are
- 3:15Speaker 3: your introduction.
- 3:17Speaker 9: It's like with where we talk about horror movies, except
- 3:20Speaker 9: probably not these two.
- 3:23Speaker 8: Well, never mind that.
- 3:27Speaker 9: It is drastically different from one episode to the next,
- 3:30Speaker 9: I have to say. Because every episode, when we change people,
- 3:34Speaker 9: it's just such a different vibe.
- 3:36Speaker 8: We're the lowbrow crowd.
- 3:37Speaker 9: I don't know that any of us are more not lowbrow,
- 3:41Speaker 9: but everybody's just so different. It's always kind of in
- 3:45Speaker 9: that way with the show. I like it. I think
- 3:47Speaker 9: it mixes things up. I like just having different people
- 3:51Speaker 9: to talk to. Keeps you on your toes. Yeah. I
- 3:54Speaker 9: think it gives people the variety. Because variety is the
- 3:57Speaker 9: spice of life.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Your baby Yoda covered toes.
- 4:02Speaker 9: Yes, we're here to talk about a horror movie, but
- 4:05Speaker 9: mostly we're looking at Wall of Yodas. There's baby Yoda.
- 4:10Speaker 9: We discussed it on the last episode at the Bastion,
- 4:12Speaker 9: but good lord, there's more Yodas since last time.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And I'm wearing my baby Yoda socks and my baby
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yoda gym jams. My baby Yoda gym jams have pants pockets.
- 4:23Speaker 9: You're next to a mountain of baby yodas. I'm not exaggerating.
- 4:28Speaker 9: It's a mountain. And she won't let me sit over
- 4:30Speaker 9: there because I'm too close to them and I might
- 4:32Speaker 9: touch them.
- 4:32Speaker 3: You might.
- 4:33Speaker 8: I don't want that. I don't know where you've been.
- 4:35Speaker 9: I'm infected with COVID.
- 4:38Speaker 8: I know.
- 4:39Speaker 3: All the more reason to stay on that side of
- 4:40Speaker 3: the room.
- 4:41Speaker 9: Some of them came from China. They're fine.
- 4:44Speaker 3: At least five of them came from China. They were
- 4:47Speaker 3: all properly quarantined. Thank you very much.
- 4:49Speaker 9: They've already had it in their finest. Once you're past it,
- 4:53Speaker 9: you're invincible.
- 4:54Speaker 8: Oh, Lord. I might have had it.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:57Speaker 9: I don't know. They told me I did.
- 4:59Speaker 7: And for all the nerds, yes, Misty knows that it's
- 5:02Speaker 7: not Baby Yoda, that the child is actually.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Grogu or whatever.
- 5:06Speaker 7: Grogu, but she refuses to call him Grogu.
- 5:08Speaker 9: I think we're all still kind of just calling him
- 5:11Speaker 9: Baby Yoda because he's Baby Yoda. I figured eventually they're
- 5:14Speaker 9: going to have to give him a name, but, I mean...
- 5:19Speaker 9: I like that everybody just went with it and the
- 5:22Speaker 9: nerds weren't as nitpicky about that. Because I'm like, look,
- 5:25Speaker 9: if everybody calls it that, that's what it is. Anybody
- 5:28Speaker 9: that wants to play the Frankenstein monster game with, I'm
- 5:30Speaker 9: just like, but most people just call that big green
- 5:34Speaker 9: lurking dude.
- 5:35Speaker 7: Frankenstein.
- 5:35Speaker 9: Frankenstein. That's just fine. That's what it is. Now, technically, okay,
- 5:40Speaker 9: read the novel. Yeah, okay, whatever. But if most people
- 5:44Speaker 9: in the world are calling it Frankenstein, then we... We
- 5:46Speaker 9: made up the language, and the language says his name's Frankenstein.
- 5:49Speaker 9: And that's a Baby Yoda.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I bought a book today that is a retelling of
- 5:53Speaker 3: the story of Frankenstein.
- 5:54Speaker 9: Featuring Baby Yoda.
- 5:55Speaker 3: That would be the most awesome thing that's ever existed.
- 5:59Speaker 3: But it's retold as a child's book, so it's just like.
- 6:02Speaker 9: I'm on board with that.
- 6:04Speaker 3: And I bought a book that's like the mummy, but
- 6:06Speaker 3: like retold as a kid's book.
- 6:08Speaker 9: I think I've seen some versions of those, but yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 9: I like... Again, my brain works as though I'm a child,
- 6:16Speaker 9: so it's best that most things are made for children
- 6:18Speaker 9: if I'm going to interact with them. So, how's it going? Eh.
- 6:24Speaker 3: We're coming off the busy. Well, actually, this year wasn't
- 6:27Speaker 3: that bad.
- 6:27Speaker 9: Because the world was shut down.
- 6:30Speaker 8: Which you think would have... I was prepared.
- 6:31Speaker 9: Although, yeah, considering... We won't go into specifics, but considering
- 6:35Speaker 9: what you do, I would assume in the shutdown world,
- 6:39Speaker 9: you would be way more pressed... And craziness and insanity
- 6:44Speaker 9: and stuff.
- 6:45Speaker 3: It wasn't that bad, but it was still more than
- 6:46Speaker 3: I liked to deal with. So now we're just coming down.
- 6:49Speaker 3: We didn't watch a lot. We've been re-watching the first
- 6:54Speaker 3: season of Sherlock.
- 6:56Speaker 9: It's so good.
- 6:57Speaker 8: I don't know what else we watched.
- 7:01Speaker 3: We haven't done a show for a long time. I
- 7:03Speaker 3: was introduced to the fact that there is a Christmas
- 7:06Speaker 3: special that took place. Well, actually, it was Rudolph and
- 7:10Speaker 3: Frosty in July or some.
- 7:12Speaker 9: Shit like that. Oh, yeah. I remember watching that one.
- 7:14Speaker 8: I'd never seen it before.
- 7:15Speaker 9: Wasn't that just like the holidays? Like, they go looking
- 7:18Speaker 9: for people that are the holidays people.
- 7:21Speaker 3: No, they go to a circus.
- 7:23Speaker 9: Oh, Lord. Maybe this is a different one.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Frosty and his family want to go to the circus,
- 7:27Speaker 3: and the ice cream guy who brings all his ice
- 7:30Speaker 3: cream in a hot air balloon to the North Pole
- 7:32Speaker 3: to keep it cold, which sounds ridiculous. Maybe I haven't
- 7:35Speaker 3: seen this. Apparently his girlfriend that he loves works for
- 7:38Speaker 3: the circus, so he decides that if he can get
- 7:41Speaker 3: Rudolph and Frosty as sideshow attractions for his circus, it
- 7:46Speaker 3: will make the circus prosper and the.
- 7:48Speaker 8: Woman will love him.
- 7:49Speaker 9: It's not his circus.
- 7:51Speaker 8: It's his girlfriend. He's the ice cream guy. Family, business, whatever.
- 7:56Speaker 7: The mom runs the circus. The girl that he's in
- 8:00Speaker 7: love with is a performer in the circus, and he
- 8:02Speaker 7: does work as an ice cream man, bringing ice cream
- 8:05Speaker 7: to the circus, but he's trying to impress her and
- 8:08Speaker 7: trying to help them basically keep their circus afloat.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Well, there's a bad guy who has snow dragons, and
- 8:16Speaker 3: that's all I fucking need in my life, snow dragons.
- 8:18Speaker 9: When did this come out exactly?
- 8:20Speaker 3: I think it was 79?
- 8:23Speaker 9: He had flying snakes too.
- 8:24Speaker 8: Flying fucking snakes. He had a sled like Santa Claus.
- 8:27Speaker 9: Was it like a Rankin and Bass?
- 8:28Speaker 8: Yes, it was. It had the same animation style.
- 8:31Speaker 9: How the hell have I not? It's weird.
- 8:34Speaker 3: There's like this bad wizard guy who was fucking amazing
- 8:37Speaker 3: who had snow dragons and he had a sled like
- 8:40Speaker 3: Santa Claus with snakes that led it.
- 8:42Speaker 8: Holy shit.
- 8:44Speaker 9: Yep. How have I not seen this? Because now I
- 8:45Speaker 9: need to go find it.
- 8:47Speaker 7: It's so silly because they've just got They got collars
- 8:51Speaker 7: around them, but they're snakes, so you would think that
- 8:53Speaker 7: they would just wiggle out of the collars.
- 8:55Speaker 10: And not be able to pull its legs.
- 8:57Speaker 9: No, because they don't have hands.
- 8:58Speaker 3: It was a mid-air snake Rudolph battle.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Rudolph has to fight the snakes.
- 9:04Speaker 7: They're flying snakes, so they're, like, flying around. But they
- 9:08Speaker 7: don't have wings, so they're just, like, snakes in the air.
- 9:10Speaker 9: Well, Rudolph doesn't have wings. You know what I mean.
- 9:12Speaker 7: When I say flying snakes, people think snakes with wings.
- 9:15Speaker 9: Like flying toasters. Yeah, you know.
- 9:18Speaker 8: But.
- 9:20Speaker 9: Yeah, I guess the holidays is just the Rudolph Shiny
- 9:22Speaker 9: New Year because that's the one with the caveman, right?
- 9:25Speaker 9: That one was always weird too, but not that level
- 9:27Speaker 9: of weird.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Boyfriend kept complaining every five minutes.
- 9:32Speaker 8: There's a lot of songs in this. There's a lot
- 9:35Speaker 8: of songs.
- 9:36Speaker 9: See, I forget that with the other. Even the Rudolph
- 9:38Speaker 9: was on this year and I watched it and I
- 9:40Speaker 9: was just like, Yeah, I forget some of these weird
- 9:43Speaker 9: songs that they break into.
- 9:44Speaker 3: There was a big, like, Shelley Winters was one of
- 9:46Speaker 3: the voices in this? Ethel Merman?
- 9:49Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 9:52Speaker 8: Who's that other guy who was in a lot of stuff,
- 9:55Speaker 8: who's a kid actor, was probably in a lot of
- 9:57Speaker 8: stuff with Shirley Temple, He was a guy.
- 9:58Speaker 9: Oh, is it freaking... Tully Savalas?
- 10:03Speaker 8: What the fuck?
- 10:04Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 10:05Speaker 9: Yes, that's exactly who I was thinking of.
- 10:08Speaker 7: I'm fucking up. Wasn't he in... Oh, wait, no, you're
- 10:11Speaker 7: thinking Shirley Temple. I was thinking Annie.
- 10:15Speaker 9: That's still not Daddy Warbucks. Daddy Savalas is Daddy Warbucks.
- 10:21Speaker 9: He's got the sucker in his mouth.
- 10:22Speaker 7: You're like, hey, baby.
- 10:25Speaker 9: Oh, dude, I can't remember. You won't miss those days
- 10:28Speaker 9: being an orphan.
- 10:29Speaker 8: He had a brother.
- 10:31Speaker 7: I can't remember shit.
- 10:32Speaker 8: I think he had a brother.
- 10:35Speaker 9: I'm trying to think who it is. You know my
- 10:37Speaker 9: brain doesn't work anymore.
- 10:38Speaker 8: You're usually pretty good at this game.
- 10:40Speaker 9: I know, but I have to think a really long time.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Okay, I'll give up.
- 10:44Speaker 7: You guys got smartphones.
- 10:46Speaker 9: I know, but mine's in my pocket, and then I
- 10:48Speaker 9: have to move and get to it.
- 10:50Speaker 7: I guess I've got mine in my hand, so I
- 10:52Speaker 7: should probably.
- 10:52Speaker 9: Mickey Rooney.
- 10:53Speaker 8: Mickey Rooney. Jesus.
- 10:55Speaker 9: I'm pretty sure that was right. He was in a
- 10:58Speaker 9: lot of stuff with Judy Garland when they were older.
- 11:00Speaker 11: Or not really older.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Did I say Judy Garland, or did I say Shirley Temple?
- 11:04Speaker 9: You said Shirley Temple.
- 11:05Speaker 8: I got it way off.
- 11:06Speaker 9: I think both, actually.
- 11:07Speaker 7: You said Shirley Temple, which is why I thought of it.
- 11:08Speaker 9: But I was thinking Judy Garland.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Lil' Orphan Annie. Which somehow led to Teddy Smalls.
- 11:13Speaker 9: Oh, God. I'm just trying to picture that Annie. People
- 11:21Speaker 9: were like shooting at him and stuff. He was like
- 11:23Speaker 9: ducking out of the way.
- 11:25Speaker 8: But yes.
- 11:26Speaker 7: Charles Bronson is. Teddy Smalls in. Teddy Wormux versus Lil'
- 11:32Speaker 7: Orphan Annie.
- 11:33Speaker 9: You made me mad.
- 11:34Speaker 3: But yeah, we haven't watched a lot. Because, like I said,
- 11:39Speaker 3: we've just been.
- 11:39Speaker 8: We've watched a lot.
- 11:40Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 11:41Speaker 7: Yeah, we went back and watched Lord of Illusions, which
- 11:44Speaker 7: you'd never seen.
- 11:45Speaker 8: That was pretty impressive.
- 11:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Better than I thought it would be.
- 11:49Speaker 7: And there were some other movies that we saw that
- 11:50Speaker 7: I can't remember that you'd never seen that we watched
- 11:54Speaker 7: that I don't even remember. That you'd never seen.
- 11:59Speaker 9: Oh, oh!
- 11:59Speaker 5: Uh.
- 12:00Speaker 7: Fucking Escape from L.A. Watch that. How'd you like that one?
- 12:04Speaker 9: That's... You know, I'll be the first to put several
- 12:11Speaker 9: Carpenter movies at the top of the best movies ever list.
- 12:15Speaker 9: And then he does some other stuff, too. Escape from L.A.
- 12:19Speaker 9: is a weird... That's the thing. I would watch it now.
- 12:23Speaker 9: It is entertaining.
- 12:25Speaker 7: It's entertaining.
- 12:25Speaker 9: But not in the same way most of his other
- 12:28Speaker 9: better known things are.
- 12:29Speaker 7: It's so fucking corny.
- 12:30Speaker 9: You're just like, what the fuck?
- 12:32Speaker 7: Is going on in this movie go back and watch
- 12:35Speaker 7: it now and the cg is so fucking bad.
- 12:38Speaker 9: I mean it was right at that point of them
- 12:40Speaker 9: like we can probably use cg for this yeah and
- 12:43Speaker 9: in the 90s you were like oh that kind of
- 12:45Speaker 9: looks cool that kind of looks.
- 12:46Speaker 7: Real and then you go back and watch it now
- 12:48Speaker 7: like on a high def tv and you're like dude
- 12:51Speaker 7: looks fucking horrible looks like you made it in my
- 12:54Speaker 7: living room right now exactly i've seen better stuff done
- 12:58Speaker 7: on computer.
- 13:00Speaker 9: Yeah. They made a lot of strange choices in that movie.
- 13:04Speaker 7: That was a weird movie.
- 13:06Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 7: What else did we watch that I made you sit
- 13:09Speaker 7: down and watch?
- 13:11Speaker 3: I don't know, but I know we sat down and
- 13:12Speaker 3: played a game.
- 13:13Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 7: We played a game. We sat down and played a
- 13:15Speaker 7: board game for once.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I guess there is kind of a board.
- 13:17Speaker 7: It is a board game.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Did you see my post about it?
- 13:21Speaker 9: I might have.
- 13:23Speaker 7: So, when we were on the quest for looking for
- 13:27Speaker 7: Baby Yodas and stuff.
- 13:28Speaker 9: Maybe I didn't. I.
- 13:31Speaker 7: Went through the gaming aisle and just happened to see it.
- 13:35Speaker 7: And Noah and Misty's love for choose-your-own-adventure books and stuff
- 13:38Speaker 7: like that. They have a choose-your-own-adventure board game.
- 13:45Speaker 9: No.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 7: So we got it. Which one's that one? I can't
- 13:48Speaker 7: even read it from here.
- 13:50Speaker 3: House of Danger?
- 13:50Speaker 7: Yeah, House of Danger.
- 13:51Speaker 9: I'm looking at the choose-your-own-adventure and the box looks just
- 13:54Speaker 9: like one of the old choose-your-own-adventure books. House of Danger. Yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 9: it's pretty fun. Based on the book by... R.A. Montgomery.
- 14:03Speaker 8: Who passed away last year, maybe?
- 14:07Speaker 3: Maybe the year before? I don't know.
- 14:09Speaker 9: Where were you when this took place?
- 14:11Speaker 3: Okay, if I was going to take anybody out, why
- 14:14Speaker 3: would it be the creator? I don't know if he
- 14:16Speaker 3: actually created. You just seemed.
- 14:18Speaker 9: Really familiar with his death. I thought you were coming
- 14:20Speaker 9: clean on something.
- 14:21Speaker 8: No, because I just remember being pretty sad about it.
- 14:23Speaker 9: I do like these dogs in the instruction booklet.
- 14:25Speaker 8: You see the art around the side of the box?
- 14:26Speaker 12: Look at the.
- 14:27Speaker 9: Oh, Lord. There's some sort of monkey dudes. Dobermans?
- 14:33Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 9: This is a lady with gloves. And a dude who's
- 14:38Speaker 9: going to punch you. It's pretty cool.
- 14:40Speaker 7: It kind of plays a little bit like....
- 14:44Speaker 8: Like reading the book.
- 14:45Speaker 7: Yeah, it plays a little bit like reading the book,
- 14:47Speaker 7: but there's kind of... There's like a weird board that
- 14:49Speaker 7: you have, and you have these.
- 14:53Speaker 7: This scale that you kind of move up on that's
- 14:55Speaker 7: for your psychic abilities, because... In the book, or in
- 14:58Speaker 7: the game.
- 14:58Speaker 9: There's a danger meter.
- 14:59Speaker 7: Yeah, in the game you play this psychic detective.
- 15:03Speaker 8: You know.
- 15:03Speaker 3: And I was wrong, he died six years ago, so
- 15:05Speaker 3: I am even less accountable.
- 15:07Speaker 9: So you say. That was just your good cover.
- 15:10Speaker 7: But yeah, you have cards that you draw, and of
- 15:12Speaker 7: course you die like you did in the book, but
- 15:14Speaker 7: at least you save.
- 15:15Speaker 9: Your place where your finger is and you turn back.
- 15:17Speaker 7: This thing says keep the card, like it'll say keep
- 15:20Speaker 7: this card out because in the rules it's like you're
- 15:22Speaker 7: gonna die. So just It'll have kind of a place card.
- 15:27Speaker 7: A place card, yeah. Where you can go back and
- 15:30Speaker 7: pick up on your adventure.
- 15:32Speaker 3: You can collect certain items to help you on your way.
- 15:35Speaker 7: Yeah, you do that. There's several chapters. We've played through
- 15:38Speaker 7: it a couple nights. Are we on the last chapter?
- 15:41Speaker 8: Yeah, we've gone through four of five chapters.
- 15:43Speaker 7: Yeah, but we actually need to go back.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Because we didn't realize how vital it was to go back.
- 15:47Speaker 8: Because once you get to the end of a chapter,
- 15:49Speaker 8: it gives you the option.
- 15:50Speaker 3: To go back.
- 15:51Speaker 9: Yeah. Take other paths kind of thing.
- 15:53Speaker 3: It's like, sit this card here. if you want to
- 15:56Speaker 3: go investigate more things and possibly collect more items to
- 15:59Speaker 3: help you.
- 16:00Speaker 7: When we first started playing it, we were just trying
- 16:02Speaker 7: to get through the chapters. And then as we got
- 16:06Speaker 7: further into it, we realized that you actually kind of
- 16:08Speaker 7: need to go through each chapter, go through each challenge.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Cause it offers you like side, like side quests, side challenges. Like,
- 16:16Speaker 7: do you choose to fight the lab assistant? If so,
- 16:23Speaker 7: roll the die, and depending on what your danger meter is,
- 16:27Speaker 7: and if you have any enhancers, like if you've got
- 16:29Speaker 7: a pistol, or a pocket knife, or a length of pipe,
- 16:34Speaker 7: or something that increases.
- 16:36Speaker 8: Flare gun.
- 16:37Speaker 7: Anything that increases your damage, then it helps you with
- 16:41Speaker 7: your roll. But there's some things that you need to...
- 16:46Speaker 7: certain items that you have to collect throughout the game,
- 16:48Speaker 7: like keys, briefcase, papers, ID cards, stuff like that, that
- 16:54Speaker 7: if you don't collect it as you get further on
- 16:56Speaker 7: in the game, further into the chapters, it'll be like,
- 16:59Speaker 7: did you collect the key card from Chapter 1?
- 17:01Speaker 9: Damn it.
- 17:03Speaker 7: No, we didn't. Well, you're shit out of luck because
- 17:06Speaker 7: you can't do this challenge, so go do this challenge instead.
- 17:09Speaker 7: So it's one of those things where we're going to
- 17:10Speaker 7: have to go back through and really just kind of
- 17:12Speaker 7: do everything, all the little side quests.
- 17:15Speaker 9: I've kind of given up on board games for years now.
- 17:18Speaker 9: Mostly because there's nobody to play it. I had to.
- 17:20Speaker 9: But I got so sick of them back when we
- 17:22Speaker 9: did play them that I just got burned out.
- 17:23Speaker 7: You can actually play that by yourself though.
- 17:24Speaker 9: This one, yeah, this one actually seems kind of cool.
- 17:26Speaker 9: And I really, I like this skeleton dude. He's wearing
- 17:29Speaker 9: a robe and he has a sword.
- 17:30Speaker 3: There are some really cool cards in there because a
- 17:32Speaker 3: lot of the cards have art on them.
- 17:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 9: I'm on board with the cool artwork.
- 17:36Speaker 7: But it's, it's one of those that you can play
- 17:38Speaker 7: by yourself.
- 17:40Speaker 8: Uh, Literally.
- 17:42Speaker 7: And Misty and I play it. I mean, both of
- 17:43Speaker 7: us play it together. So we'll take turns reading the
- 17:45Speaker 7: cards and take turns making our decisions on, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 7: do you want to crawl into the open grave or
- 17:51Speaker 7: do you want to crawl up the ladder?
- 17:53Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah. Of course.
- 17:54Speaker 3: That was not a good decision, was it? No. I mean,
- 17:56Speaker 3: that was a decision I made that killed us.
- 17:58Speaker 7: We died. So, you know.
- 18:02Speaker 9: Oh, yeah. I would almost play that.
- 18:04Speaker 12: It's awesome.
- 18:04Speaker 7: There's two of them out that are right now. There
- 18:07Speaker 7: are two of them that are out right now. One
- 18:09Speaker 7: of them is.
- 18:10Speaker 3: That's not listed on the box.
- 18:11Speaker 7: Yeah, one of them is that one and the other one,
- 18:13Speaker 7: I don't remember what the other one is. You could
- 18:16Speaker 7: probably look it up.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I could, but... But we're not going to.
- 18:19Speaker 8: No, we're not.
- 18:20Speaker 9: Lazy.
- 18:21Speaker 8: Your homework should you choose to accept.
- 18:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 8: To look this game up.
- 18:26Speaker 7: But it's been a while since we played board games.
- 18:27Speaker 7: We used to play cards a lot, but I just
- 18:29Speaker 7: got tired of beating me at cards all the time.
- 18:32Speaker 7: It just wasn't any fun.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Well, this way we can lose together.
- 18:34Speaker 7: Yeah, this way we can lose together.
- 18:36Speaker 9: That does even things out a little bit.
- 18:38Speaker 3: There have been occasions where we have sat and read
- 18:40Speaker 3: Choose Your Own Adventure books together, and I have given.
- 18:42Speaker 8: You the options.
- 18:43Speaker 7: Yeah, we have. But I usually fall asleep.
- 18:45Speaker 9: You do.
- 18:47Speaker 3: That's what my voice does.
- 18:48Speaker 9: Most things. That's why I plan accordingly when I watch stuff.
- 18:51Speaker 7: Well, any time we have time to do that, it's
- 18:53Speaker 7: at night, which is usually.
- 18:55Speaker 9: When I sleep, so.
- 18:57Speaker 3: No, I did catch you once because I bought one
- 18:59Speaker 3: when we were out somewhere, so I was reading it
- 19:00Speaker 3: to you in the car so you could not fall asleep.
- 19:02Speaker 9: Oh, yeah. Let's hope.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I couldn't fall asleep in that one.
- 19:07Speaker 9: Well, I watched something, but I have a specific tie-in
- 19:10Speaker 9: for Jay.
- 19:13Speaker 8: Okay.
- 19:14Speaker 9: So, this one, they worked out because it was this morning,
- 19:19Speaker 9: so I wasn't sleepy because I just woke up. Which
- 19:21Speaker 9: has usually become my go-to now.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Oh, that's never stopped me.
- 19:24Speaker 9: I like, well, yeah, I'm not saying I don't ever,
- 19:26Speaker 9: but I've got a better chance if like I just
- 19:28Speaker 9: woke up of being like, hey, let's watch a movie now. So,
- 19:32Speaker 9: and you know, there's always like, I've got, I know
- 19:35Speaker 9: this will be weird to you, stacks of movies. I
- 19:37Speaker 9: know you don't know what that's like.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yeah, because you can't see them from here.
- 19:40Speaker 9: But I've got stacks of movies that I bought because
- 19:42Speaker 9: it was cheap and I meant to get around to
- 19:44Speaker 9: and I haven't watched. But many is the time I
- 19:46Speaker 9: will be sitting there amongst all these new movies I
- 19:49Speaker 9: haven't seen and be like, you know what i want
- 19:50Speaker 9: to watch and i go back it's we we have
- 19:52Speaker 9: our like our comfort movies we just you know i've
- 19:56Speaker 9: got a million things i need to watch but i
- 19:57Speaker 9: want to watch this thing i've already seen a whole
- 19:59Speaker 9: bunch but sometimes.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Clueless because i can never pass by clueless.
- 20:03Speaker 9: Oh no i mean i'm all on board with some
- 20:05Speaker 9: clueless but.
- 20:06Speaker 3: How many times is boyfriend halfway seen clueless I don't know.
- 20:10Speaker 7: I usually get up early in the room.
- 20:11Speaker 9: He just hears you quoting it most of the movie
- 20:13Speaker 9: at this point. This was, and I didn't really think
- 20:17Speaker 9: about it because I avoided most. We're post Christmas now
- 20:20Speaker 9: and we're into the new year. Look, we survived. We're
- 20:23Speaker 9: in 2021.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Same shit as before.
- 20:25Speaker 9: Maybe not.
- 20:26Speaker 8: Except for yes.
- 20:27Speaker 9: Hopefully better. Anyway, so, but it's funny because most stuff
- 20:31Speaker 9: like every year I tell myself I'm going to watch
- 20:34Speaker 9: Christmasy stuff because I know I'm not going to watch
- 20:36Speaker 9: it the rest of the time. But I never want
- 20:38Speaker 9: to start too early because I get sick of Christmas
- 20:39Speaker 9: real quick. And then once it happens, I'm like, whatever,
- 20:43Speaker 9: I'm done now. So there's a very small window when
- 20:45Speaker 9: I watch Santa Girl. And other than that, there was
- 20:50Speaker 9: one other one I tried to start and I just
- 20:52Speaker 9: kind of fell asleep and didn't go back. So I
- 20:53Speaker 9: was like, I really didn't watch a lot of Christmassy
- 20:55Speaker 9: stuff this year. And then I got to the one
- 20:58Speaker 9: I wanted to watch this morning and I went, technically
- 20:59Speaker 9: it's a Christmas movie. Today I watched Die Hard 2.
- 21:03Speaker 8: I know Die Hard 1 is.
- 21:06Speaker 9: See, that's the thing. Everybody wants to have the little
- 21:08Speaker 9: Die Hard argument every December. Let's have a weird battle
- 21:12Speaker 9: on the internet.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Everybody who says that Die Hard is not a Christmas
- 21:16Speaker 3: movie is fucking wrong.
- 21:18Speaker 8: I said it. I don't care.
- 21:19Speaker 9: I mean, I don't care. It is because it takes
- 21:22Speaker 9: place at Christmas. It doesn't focus around Santa Claus or anything,
- 21:26Speaker 9: but I mean... I don't remember. He says ho, ho,
- 21:28Speaker 9: ho when he writes it in blood, so that's almost
- 21:31Speaker 9: the same.
- 21:32Speaker 8: I don't remember the second one.
- 21:33Speaker 9: But the second one is essentially the same setup. It's
- 21:36Speaker 9: him going to... Before, he was going to see his
- 21:39Speaker 9: wife because it was Christmas and visit the kids.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Is the second one the one that has Jeremy Irons?
- 21:43Speaker 9: No, that's the third one, and I am on... But
- 21:45Speaker 9: that's kind of what made me think of this, because
- 21:47Speaker 9: in the last episode, I was referencing a song from
- 21:49Speaker 9: the third movie... And then I, well, connected to the
- 21:53Speaker 9: third movie there. And I was thinking, man, I love
- 21:56Speaker 9: that movie. And then I was like, I haven't watched
- 21:58Speaker 9: that one or the second one in forever. And then
- 22:00Speaker 9: this morning that reoccurred to me. I was like, did
- 22:02Speaker 9: I just talk myself into watching Die Hard 2? It
- 22:05Speaker 9: did not take a whole lot of talking. That's the
- 22:07Speaker 9: Rennie Harlan one. It's the one in the airport the
- 22:09Speaker 9: whole time, essentially. And it's pretty good. Like, it holds up. Like,
- 22:15Speaker 9: Rennie Harlan has made a lot of questionable decisions in
- 22:17Speaker 9: his life as well, movie-wise.
- 22:19Speaker 7: Or personal.
- 22:20Speaker 9: I don't know him that well. But that one, maybe,
- 22:23Speaker 9: arguably his best movie. He's done a couple of decent ones,
- 22:27Speaker 9: but Die Hard 2 is pretty solid. I was surprised
- 22:31Speaker 9: how much I still kind of like the story. And
- 22:35Speaker 9: even as ridiculous as it is shoving him back into
- 22:37Speaker 9: one of these scenarios, it doesn't seem as far-fetched because
- 22:41Speaker 9: he's doing it to himself the whole time. Like, he
- 22:43Speaker 9: keeps getting himself further and further into this. Last time, he, like,
- 22:46Speaker 9: accidentally got roped into it. This time he's a cop
- 22:49Speaker 9: and he's just like, hey, that guy looks like he's
- 22:51Speaker 9: up to something. I'm going to go see what he's doing.
- 22:53Speaker 9: And then he's trying to save his wife the whole time.
- 22:56Speaker 9: So it doesn't seem as far-fetched the more I watched
- 22:59Speaker 9: it and thought about it this time.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Just got John Amos.
- 23:03Speaker 9: That's the other thing. We'll get to the other forgotten
- 23:05Speaker 9: people that I had no idea were in there. Or
- 23:07Speaker 9: I knew and I'd forgotten since last time I watched
- 23:09Speaker 9: it because it's been a long damn time. But my
- 23:12Speaker 9: specific go-to question for you, Jay.
- 23:15Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 23:15Speaker 9: Because... Again, we don't have to go into the specifics
- 23:18Speaker 9: of anyone's outside life. But at some point in your life,
- 23:22Speaker 9: you've held a torch. I know at least one of
- 23:25Speaker 9: our listeners likes that you have torch stories. But in
- 23:29Speaker 9: this movie, the bad guys, the terrorists.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Hold on, which kind of torch are we talking about?
- 23:36Speaker 8: Like, in a cave torch?
- 23:38Speaker 9: No, no. This is a.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Like you're going to weld something? Like a blowtorch?
- 23:42Speaker 7: Are we talking about a blowtorch? Are we talking about
- 23:44Speaker 7: a flamethrower?
- 23:45Speaker 9: No, I mean, this is like a full-on, what looks
- 23:47Speaker 9: like an arc welding torch of some sort.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I was picturing him like that.
- 23:52Speaker 9: Like him going spelunking with a torch?
- 23:54Speaker 7: No, I was picturing a stick with.
- 23:56Speaker 8: An oily rag wrapped around it.
- 23:58Speaker 9: Was he dressed like Indiana Jones? That's the way I
- 24:03Speaker 9: picture everybody when they have a torch. But anyway, so
- 24:06Speaker 9: the bad guys take over this church. And they add
- 24:09Speaker 9: spoilers if you haven't seen Die Hard 2. They take
- 24:11Speaker 9: over this church and that's how they're going to take
- 24:13Speaker 9: over the airport because it's right next to the airport.
- 24:15Speaker 9: And they're like stealing, they're cutting into the cables, going
- 24:18Speaker 9: to the airport to like take over their equipment that
- 24:21Speaker 9: gets to the planes and blah, blah, whatever. Yeah. Anyway,
- 24:25Speaker 9: so they go out to the big power boxes sitting
- 24:27Speaker 9: next to the thing. Now, the first time they cut
- 24:29Speaker 9: to it, I'm like, okay, it makes sense. He's like,
- 24:32Speaker 9: they're locked up as they should be. So people can't
- 24:34Speaker 9: just bust into him. So he's using a torch to
- 24:36Speaker 9: like cut his way into this thing. That made sense. Fine.
- 24:39Speaker 7: Whatever.
- 24:39Speaker 9: I didn't question much. When they come back to this
- 24:42Speaker 9: person later, he's using what I think is that same
- 24:46Speaker 9: torch to connect up the electronics. I went back and
- 24:51Speaker 9: watched it again. That second time they cut to him,
- 24:53Speaker 9: he's got the torch going, there's sparks coming off of it,
- 24:57Speaker 9: and then suddenly the power comes on and he hits
- 25:00Speaker 9: a something and they're connected. Now what the hell would
- 25:03Speaker 9: you use a torch for to connect things?
- 25:07Speaker 7: Like an oxyacetylene torch?
- 25:10Speaker 9: It's a big, like the flame is like huge. No, no.
- 25:13Speaker 9: I mean, I was like, I know. That's what I
- 25:16Speaker 9: was going to say. I know just enough about electronics
- 25:18Speaker 9: to know you can solder wires, but I don't think
- 25:21Speaker 9: you'd use that kind of a torch.
- 25:22Speaker 7: Oxysettling torch to cut right through it.
- 25:24Speaker 9: That's what I'm saying.
- 25:25Speaker 7: Melt everything.
- 25:26Speaker 9: How would you do anything but destroy everything in that
- 25:29Speaker 9: box with a torch? Yeah. I, yeah. I had torch questions.
- 25:33Speaker 7: I've never seen the second Die Hard.
- 25:37Speaker 9: It's fun. I liked it.
- 25:38Speaker 7: But if it's an oxyacetylene torch, which is like the wand,
- 25:43Speaker 7: like a brass wand, and it's got a torch head,
- 25:44Speaker 7: and it's got a flame about that big. It's got
- 25:47Speaker 7: two lines. It's got an oxygen line and an acetylene line.
- 25:52Speaker 7: So you've got two different tanks. It runs to an
- 25:54Speaker 7: oxygen tank and an acetylene tank. You can braze with those,
- 26:00Speaker 7: but you have to have a brazing tip. And usually
- 26:02Speaker 7: when you braze, the flame's only about that big. Uh,
- 26:06Speaker 7: and that's used for, uh, used for welding. But, uh,
- 26:09Speaker 7: as far as soldering, you would use a soldering iron,
- 26:11Speaker 7: not an acetylene torch.
- 26:12Speaker 9: You would just tear up everything.
- 26:14Speaker 7: You know, there's a lot of times there's things in
- 26:16Speaker 7: movies where you're just like, uh.
- 26:18Speaker 3: That's not real.
- 26:19Speaker 7: That's not real.
- 26:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 3: So.
- 26:21Speaker 9: Well, I mean, I do that with a lot of stuff,
- 26:22Speaker 9: but that one was just enough that like, no, I
- 26:24Speaker 9: will let a lot of stuff slide. Like, I'm just like, eh,
- 26:26Speaker 9: it's a movie. Who cares? But that one just seemed
- 26:29Speaker 9: so weird that I was like, what the fuck would
- 26:31Speaker 9: you be? I think I said it out loud to
- 26:33Speaker 9: myself cause I'm sitting there. watching the movie and i'm
- 26:36Speaker 9: just like why would you be using a torch to
- 26:38Speaker 9: connect wires or whatever he's doing to hot wire this
- 26:42Speaker 9: thing and get them on the grid and i was
- 26:44Speaker 9: just like what the.
- 26:46Speaker 7: Hell are you doing it's funny because like anytime i've
- 26:48Speaker 7: got a friend that works in computers he works in
- 26:51Speaker 7: uh well i guess geez i guess he he does
- 26:55Speaker 7: uh security for government stuff now uh but he's always
- 27:00Speaker 7: been into computers and he was into like uh not
- 27:04Speaker 7: really into hacking but kind of he's one of those
- 27:05Speaker 7: guys that likes hacking you know but i don't think
- 27:08Speaker 7: he actually hacks stuff you know we'll say for his
- 27:11Speaker 7: benefit that he doesn't hack stuff but anyways uh his
- 27:15Speaker 7: biggest pet peeve is like watching any kind of movie
- 27:18Speaker 7: that has computer stuff in it like hackers where he
- 27:22Speaker 7: they're talking about cool movies they're talking about yeah this
- 27:26Speaker 7: and it's It's got a PCI bus and all this
- 27:29Speaker 7: other stuff. It's him going off through the whole movie
- 27:32Speaker 7: about how stupid.
- 27:34Speaker 9: Yeah, most movies. And that stuff doesn't age very well. No,
- 27:37Speaker 9: but it was the 90s. When you watch Johnny Mnemonic now,
- 27:40Speaker 9: you're just like, wait, wait. How much storage is he
- 27:44Speaker 9: putting in his brain? Because I've got ten times that
- 27:46Speaker 9: in my phone. Or a hundred times that in my phone.
- 27:49Speaker 7: He's downloading one gig into his brain.
- 27:52Speaker 9: It's going to leak. You know? He has to get memories.
- 27:56Speaker 7: Out of his head to fit that one megabyte into
- 27:59Speaker 7: his head.
- 28:01Speaker 8: 1,000 bytes.
- 28:03Speaker 9: I saw something the other day. It was on, again,
- 28:05Speaker 9: probably some meme or some bullshit online. But it was
- 28:08Speaker 9: funny because they said, in movies, hacking equals typing really fast. Oh, yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 9: As long as you're making fast clicking noises, you're a hacker.
- 28:15Speaker 7: Yeah, you're hacking. Hacking all kinds of stuff.
- 28:18Speaker 9: That was kind of the takeaway on this as well.
- 28:20Speaker 9: I was just like, I don't think that person knows
- 28:22Speaker 9: what the hell they're doing with that torch.
- 28:23Speaker 7: You know, sometimes Hollywood just writes stuff. They're just kind
- 28:26Speaker 7: of like, you know what? Just do this.
- 28:28Speaker 9: Just use your torch to make electronics work.
- 28:31Speaker 7: How many people are going to bitch about it? Not
- 28:33Speaker 7: that many people.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Us.
- 28:34Speaker 9: But then they did a really quick close-up. Just enough
- 28:38Speaker 9: I had to check later and make sure I was right.
- 28:40Speaker 9: And then it kind of made sense why this person
- 28:42Speaker 9: with the torch didn't know what the hell they were doing.
- 28:44Speaker 9: They cut really close to him as he was like,
- 28:46Speaker 9: all right, you're on line or whatever the hell he
- 28:48Speaker 9: said when they zoomed in on him. And I was like,
- 28:50Speaker 9: was that John Leguizamo? A young, pre-everything. I went back
- 28:57Speaker 9: and I was like, did I already know who he
- 28:58Speaker 9: was by then? But he was only done a handful
- 29:01Speaker 9: of things, period. So this was probably like a big
- 29:03Speaker 9: break for him. So yeah, young.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I don't really remember him before Romeo and Juliet.
- 29:08Speaker 9: See, that's what I was thinking. I already knew who
- 29:10Speaker 9: he was by then. I was thinking there was something else, too.
- 29:13Speaker 9: There was a few things that I was like, where
- 29:15Speaker 9: did I know him from? I guess maybe just stand-up,
- 29:17Speaker 9: because he had pretty big stand-up specials by that time. Stand-up.
- 29:22Speaker 7: I think the first time I saw him was like.
- 29:28Speaker 7: Jeez, I don't even remember. Could have been The Pest.
- 29:30Speaker 9: That was even later.
- 29:31Speaker 7: Was that later?
- 29:32Speaker 9: That was just the point everyone turned on him.
- 29:35Speaker 7: What about when he played in Spawn? He was in Spawn.
- 29:40Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, The Violator.
- 29:41Speaker 7: The Violator, yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 9: That's an odd casting choice, too. I like John Leguizamo
- 29:45Speaker 9: more than most people, but even at the time, I
- 29:48Speaker 9: was like, wait, he's playing The Violator? Yeah. That makes
- 29:52Speaker 9: no sense.
- 29:53Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 29:55Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 7: They should remake that movie. Spawn needs to be remade.
- 29:58Speaker 9: Yeah, because the animated one was great.
- 30:00Speaker 7: The animated one was awesome.
- 30:01Speaker 9: I thought, yeah. I thought, okay, finally, we're going to
- 30:04Speaker 9: get one. Well, it was like a year later. They
- 30:05Speaker 9: made a live action. I was like, that's cool. And
- 30:07Speaker 9: then I was like, oh, what the hell is this? Yeah. So, yeah. But, yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 9: young John Leguizamo.
- 30:13Speaker 7: And they tried to bring out the live action. McFarlane
- 30:17Speaker 7: figures that just didn't really sell. Were they McFarlane? Did
- 30:20Speaker 7: McFarlane do the live-action one?
- 30:22Speaker 9: He probably did, because that guy got himself involved in
- 30:26Speaker 9: everything toy-wise for a long time there, so that would
- 30:28Speaker 9: not surprise me. Yeah. The other interesting one that I
- 30:32Speaker 9: feel like last time I watched it, he's in it
- 30:35Speaker 9: a little more, so it's not like you ID'd him,
- 30:37Speaker 9: but I was like, hey, look, it's little Robert Patrick.
- 30:40Speaker 8: The year before, he.
- 30:42Speaker 9: Was asking people, have you seen this boy? He was
- 30:45Speaker 9: there with his... weird baby-looking face, because I'm so used
- 30:49Speaker 9: to being the old dude on Scorpion now, that seeing
- 30:52Speaker 9: little Robert Patrick, this was kind of fun. He's just
- 30:55Speaker 9: a terrorist. He's one of the side dudes. He has
- 30:58Speaker 9: one kind of scene where he has a line, and
- 31:01Speaker 9: he shoots some people. But yeah, other than that, he's
- 31:05Speaker 9: gone pretty quick. Just weird people popping up as terrorists
- 31:09Speaker 9: in this movie. Alright. Well, I think... We'll take our
- 31:15Speaker 9: break here. When we come back, we've got not just
- 31:18Speaker 9: a movie, but a special tie-in reason that I'm sure
- 31:22Speaker 9: you're well aware of.
- 31:23Speaker 8: We'll be back.
- 31:23Speaker 9: In the town that dreaded.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Sundown We'll get to see the morning light.
- 31:34Speaker 6: In the town that dreaded sundown, baby.
- 31:45Speaker 8: Hungry? Thirsty?
- 31:47Speaker 5: The refreshment stand is open with everything to satisfy your
- 31:52Speaker 5: taste buds.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Here's the menu.
- 31:53Speaker 9: Try McCain Deep and Delicious Coconut Cream Pie. Made with
- 31:56Speaker 9: real cream and topped with toasted coconut shavings. McCain.
- 31:59Speaker 14: Long Live Pie.
- 32:06Speaker 7: So Misty, you like horror.
- 32:09Speaker 9: I do.
- 32:09Speaker 3: It's my favorite.
- 32:11Speaker 9: I think most people are into that. And if they are,
- 32:14Speaker 9: they should be joining up on the old Meltdown Horror Club.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I will take you to a place where my friends foregather.
- 32:21Speaker 9: There you will find stories of.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Such blood-curdling terror that will make your toes curl and
- 32:28Speaker 5: your hair reach up towards the sky.
- 32:32Speaker 9: Well, yes, all they have to do is go to MovieMeltdown.com,
- 32:35Speaker 9: click on the Meltdown Horror Club link that's right there
- 32:38Speaker 9: on the right-hand side, and join the club.
- 32:40Speaker 8: Hells yeah.
- 32:41Speaker 9: And then they can hear... Exclusive episodes. All about horror.
- 32:45Speaker 9: All about whatever crazy movies we're watching. And at this point,
- 32:49Speaker 9: they get to help us pick the next movie that
- 32:51Speaker 9: we watch.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Awesome.
- 32:53Speaker 9: Them and Satan. And or the evil forces that live
- 32:57Speaker 9: inside the 20-sided die that I now use to choose
- 33:00Speaker 9: what our next horror movie is going to be. But
- 33:02Speaker 9: you put things on the list and then we go
- 33:04Speaker 9: to the evil forces that live in the die and
- 33:06Speaker 9: they tell us what the next movie is. It's pretty fun.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Sounds pretty exciting.
- 33:10Speaker 9: I think we're having fun with it, and you can
- 33:12Speaker 9: be part of that fun. Go to MovieMeltdown.com, join the
- 33:16Speaker 9: Meltdown Horror Club, and get in on the action.
- 33:19Speaker 1: The most fun you'll ever have being scared.
- 33:27Speaker 5: The ships stake out a neighborhood and find that trouble
- 33:30Speaker 5: comes in small packages.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Hey, slow down and stop! I can't!
- 33:34Speaker 5: Then, all your favorites are back in a brand new movie.
- 33:38Speaker 2: They're at sea!
- 33:39Speaker 9: Maybe we can be rescued!
- 33:40Speaker 5: Rescue from Gilligan's Island. Bob Denver and members of the
- 33:43Speaker 5: original Gilligan cast. Saturday on NBC.
- 33:51Speaker 12: This is Dawn Wells.
- 33:52Speaker 3: You might remember me, Marianna Gilligan's Island.
- 33:54Speaker 9: You are listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 34:02Speaker 6: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 34:06Speaker 7: Samuel P.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Fuller, age 24. Linda Mae Jenkins, age 19. Brutally attacked
- 34:12Speaker 1: March 3rd, 1946. Howard W. Turner, 29. Emmalou Cook, 17.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Bodies discovered in a wooded area on March 24th. Roy Allen, 17.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Peggy Loomis, 15. Both found dead April 14th in Spring
- 34:29Speaker 1: Lake Park. Floyd Reed, age 34, murdered in his home
- 34:34Speaker 1: on May 3rd.
- 34:36Speaker 9: Mrs.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Reed shot twice, but survived. This man's identity is unknown.
- 34:42Speaker 1: He was believed to be between 30 and 40 years old.
- 34:45Speaker 1: He wore a white hood and was known only as
- 34:49Speaker 1: the Phantom Killer. World War II had just ended. In Texarkana, Arkansas,
- 34:56Speaker 1: boys had come home to their families. Husbands reunited with
- 34:59Speaker 1: their wives. It was a happy, peaceful time until the
- 35:05Speaker 1: phantom killer struck. For four months, he held an entire
- 35:11Speaker 1: city in the icy grip of terror.
- 35:15Speaker 7: Now, Charles B.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Pierce brings this incredible, shocking, and true story to the
- 35:20Speaker 1: screen in The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Starring Academy Award
- 35:26Speaker 1: winner Ben Johnson as Captain J.D. Morales of the Texas Rangers.
- 35:30Speaker 7: We got a cold-blooded killer here.
- 35:33Speaker 13: A man who nobody sees.
- 35:37Speaker 7: A phantom who, so far, hasn't made any mistakes.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Andrew Pryne as Deputy Norman Ramsey of the Texarkana Sheriff's Department.
- 35:46Speaker 2: The only thing we really do know is that we've
- 35:48Speaker 2: got a very strange person on our hands.
- 35:57Speaker 1: The town that dreaded sundown.
- 35:59Speaker 5: A true story.
- 36:03Speaker 15: There's a disturbance in this one-horse town that's shaking every soul.
- 36:12Speaker 15: All the dogs run loose and every man.
- 36:16Speaker 9: Is on patrol.
- 36:28Speaker 4: While the deacons keep us cold With a summon and
- 36:34Speaker 4: a worship song There's an evil that walks these moral.
- 36:40Speaker 13: Grounds In the town that dreaded sundown.
- 36:55Speaker 9: So, we're back.
- 36:58Speaker 8: Oh my god, we're back already.
- 37:01Speaker 9: This week's Silver Theater feature is The Town That Dreaded Sundown.
- 37:05Speaker 8: I honestly don't know the last time I was more disappointed.
- 37:09Speaker 3: In a movie.
- 37:10Speaker 7: Also known as The Film That Dreaded... Plot?
- 37:12Speaker 9: Excitement?
- 37:14Speaker 7: I was going to say a genre. Is it a comedy?
- 37:20Speaker 7: Is it a horror movie?
- 37:22Speaker 9: Is it a drama?
- 37:23Speaker 8: Is it a procedural?
- 37:24Speaker 7: Is it a documentary?
- 37:26Speaker 9: Is it a movie? Question mark. The year is 1976.
- 37:32Speaker 9: The director is Charles B. Pierce. And they plot, according
- 37:35Speaker 9: to IMDb, the story of a hooded berserk killer who
- 37:41Speaker 9: terrorized the border town of Texarkana, Arkansas. I thought Texarkana
- 37:47Speaker 9: covered it all, but. In 1946, leaving no less than
- 37:51Speaker 9: five murder victims in his wake, he was never caught
- 37:56Speaker 9: based on one of America's most baffling murder cases. Spoiler alert,
- 38:01Speaker 9: we're going to ruin the hell out of this.
- 38:04Speaker 8: Did you say it was Arkansas or Texas?
- 38:05Speaker 9: According to this, it says Arkansas.
- 38:07Speaker 8: It's Texas.
- 38:08Speaker 9: Well, even IMDB is wrong about this movie.
- 38:10Speaker 7: If it takes place on the Texas-Arkansas border, it could
- 38:14Speaker 7: either be in Texas or Arkansas, just like how things are.
- 38:18Speaker 7: Either in Kentucky or Indiana, and they call it Kentuckiana.
- 38:23Speaker 9: Sometimes they stand in one spot and they're in two
- 38:26Speaker 9: places at the same time.
- 38:27Speaker 7: There you go. Sometimes we have shit that happens over
- 38:30Speaker 7: here that carries on in Louisville. So, yes, either way,
- 38:34Speaker 7: big deal. Not that important.
- 38:37Speaker 9: Not the least of our worries moving into this.
- 38:40Speaker 7: Least of the problems with this movie.
- 38:43Speaker 9: See, that's the thing. I've heard about this movie for years.
- 38:47Speaker 8: And I've always heard good things.
- 38:48Speaker 9: Movie geek, horror geek. It's like, this has been around forever.
- 38:52Speaker 9: I always saw the VHS cover. It's another one of
- 38:55Speaker 9: those I've been like, I need to get to that.
- 38:57Speaker 9: And just hadn't got to. And unfortunately, the reason that
- 39:02Speaker 9: brought it to our attention was we just recently, very
- 39:06Speaker 9: recently as we're recording this, lost Dawn Wells.
- 39:09Speaker 7: Who we love.
- 39:10Speaker 8: She was beautiful.
- 39:11Speaker 9: She was awesome. She was very nice. And she put
- 39:14Speaker 9: up with me asking her weird questions.
- 39:16Speaker 8: And she liked my hair.
- 39:17Speaker 9: And she touched your hair a lot.
- 39:18Speaker 8: She was all up on it. Caught me off guard.
- 39:20Speaker 8: All up in my personal space. Anybody else, I would
- 39:22Speaker 8: have had a problem with it.
- 39:23Speaker 9: Not marrying no she's awesome.
- 39:25Speaker 3: She can all up in my personal space i don't care.
- 39:28Speaker 9: So yes we we i mentioned that online yeah the
- 39:33Speaker 9: other day i was like it it's one of those
- 39:34Speaker 9: it was a little further but she hadn't been anywhere
- 39:37Speaker 9: in our area other than that so we made our
- 39:40Speaker 9: trip there specifically to see i don't even know that
- 39:43Speaker 9: anybody else was there like it was not a huge
- 39:45Speaker 9: show When was this? And I feel like we did
- 39:47Speaker 9: not see a ton of other people at this.
- 39:50Speaker 7: Did I go?
- 39:51Speaker 16: No.
- 39:51Speaker 9: No.
- 39:52Speaker 8: Oh, okay. Was it 4... 90... Was it 2016?
- 39:57Speaker 9: Maybe?
- 39:57Speaker 8: I think it was 2016.
- 39:59Speaker 9: Something like that. But yeah, we... We made a little
- 40:02Speaker 9: extra trip just because Don Wells was coming.
- 40:05Speaker 3: We hadn't seen her up until that point and we
- 40:07Speaker 3: never saw her.
- 40:08Speaker 9: No, we never crossed over with her again. It was
- 40:11Speaker 9: outside of Nashville, I think. It was a tiny little show.
- 40:14Speaker 9: It wasn't even in the city. It was on the
- 40:16Speaker 9: outskirts at a county fairgrounds. It was the weirdest show.
- 40:21Speaker 9: It was the most.
- 40:22Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 40:23Speaker 9: It was so... Because it was run by one of
- 40:27Speaker 9: the groups that does the normal show. I'm just so
- 40:30Speaker 9: used to going into the same hotel or convention center
- 40:33Speaker 9: and every room looks the same and they all have
- 40:35Speaker 9: the same vendors this was not that show like this
- 40:38Speaker 9: was it really it looked like a county fair it
- 40:41Speaker 9: was like they had it in like a big open
- 40:44Speaker 9: room that i don't know again they probably had like
- 40:47Speaker 9: the 4-h club and animals in there the other half
- 40:50Speaker 9: of the year or something like it was just such
- 40:52Speaker 9: a weird setup and then they didn't even have things
- 40:54Speaker 9: sectioned off when they did q and a's it was
- 40:57Speaker 9: just off on the side Like, right next to where
- 41:00Speaker 9: the vendors were. Like, they didn't have a set. You
- 41:02Speaker 9: were just standing there in the middle of the room
- 41:03Speaker 9: where they were also doing Q & As. It was
- 41:06Speaker 9: just the weirdest layout for anyone I'd ever been to.
- 41:10Speaker 9: And yet it was all worth it because Dawn Wells
- 41:12Speaker 9: was awesome.
- 41:13Speaker 3: She was. She was a very kind individual. She was
- 41:17Speaker 3: just so sweet. And it's like, you see people on
- 41:19Speaker 3: TV and you're like, is that real? Is that person, like,
- 41:22Speaker 3: is that how the real person is? Or is it
- 41:25Speaker 3: just a facade? I get the feeling with her, it
- 41:28Speaker 3: was never fake. She always, she just seemed like a genuinely, like,
- 41:32Speaker 3: nice person.
- 41:33Speaker 9: I think she started out that way and, like, didn't
- 41:36Speaker 9: get horribly jaded by the industry, surprisingly, even though, like,
- 41:40Speaker 9: even the thing she was most famous for, she didn't
- 41:43Speaker 9: get treated great. They were busy trying to, like, work
- 41:46Speaker 9: her out of there, or not even put her name
- 41:48Speaker 9: in the opening song, or, you know, like... She was,
- 41:52Speaker 9: you know, not the center of attention even for the
- 41:54Speaker 9: thing that became what she was most famous for. But,
- 41:59Speaker 9: I mean, the thing that was so impressive, I think,
- 42:02Speaker 9: for me was just the fact that she still cared
- 42:05Speaker 9: about that. Like, even though everybody else, even the ones
- 42:10Speaker 9: that were okay with it, you know, Bob Denver was
- 42:12Speaker 9: kind of, I think after a while probably got sick
- 42:15Speaker 9: of it, but he came back around and, like, just
- 42:17Speaker 9: kind of realized, you know, people love this show, but, like,
- 42:20Speaker 9: Dawn Wells never seemed like she took anything bad from it.
- 42:25Speaker 9: She just realized how much it meant to fans and
- 42:28Speaker 9: just embraced it and seemed to really enjoy talking to
- 42:31Speaker 9: the fans. I don't know. Unlike some other castaways on
- 42:35Speaker 9: the island that shall remain nameless.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Fucking Ginger.
- 42:40Speaker 9: She was immediately too big for that show. Bad mouthed.
- 42:44Speaker 9: It had nothing to do with any of the other
- 42:47Speaker 9: actors from it. Never came back for anything. She was
- 42:49Speaker 9: just immediately wanted nothing to do with it and was
- 42:52Speaker 9: too cool for it. And I'm like, where's your big
- 42:54Speaker 9: movie career? So, yeah. Wanted to distance herself from it.
- 42:59Speaker 9: For what? I don't know.
- 43:01Speaker 8: Distance herself far on out of here. I don't give
- 43:03Speaker 8: a shit.
- 43:04Speaker 9: So, yeah. Dawn was never like that. Dawn was always
- 43:07Speaker 9: super cool and just seemed to appreciate how much everyone
- 43:12Speaker 9: else enjoyed the show and her character in general. I
- 43:16Speaker 9: think she was so small town and so Americana and
- 43:20Speaker 9: so wholesome that, like, I think she realized that she
- 43:23Speaker 9: kind of represented that for a lot of people and
- 43:26Speaker 9: took pride in that, I think. So, yep. Dawnwell's awesome.
- 43:31Speaker 3: This movie?
- 43:31Speaker 8: And let us to this movie.
- 43:36Speaker 3: And how much screen time did the Dawnwell's, the glorious,
- 43:41Speaker 3: beautiful Marianne have in this movie? Five minutes?
- 43:45Speaker 8: Tops.
- 43:47Speaker 9: If you cut out the part of the just random
- 43:49Speaker 9: shots of a field that she's hiding in.
- 43:52Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I would have watched an hour and
- 43:54Speaker 3: a half movie of her just brushing her hair.
- 43:56Speaker 9: Yeah, we do find her in the house there brushing
- 43:58Speaker 9: her hair. And that should have been just on a
- 44:01Speaker 9: loop right there.
- 44:02Speaker 8: I would have been better than watching this movie.
- 44:06Speaker 9: So we've got the nice things we said about Don Wells.
- 44:10Speaker 9: If you're a big fan of this movie, this might
- 44:13Speaker 9: not be the episode for you. But... I don't know.
- 44:18Speaker 9: I just have to call them as I see them.
- 44:20Speaker 9: I expected a lot going into this, just because by
- 44:23Speaker 9: title and reputation, it was so well-respected. I know tons
- 44:29Speaker 9: of people that have put it on their list of
- 44:31Speaker 9: favorite horror movies, and I don't get it, really.
- 44:35Speaker 8: I don't understand it. I kept wondering to myself, did
- 44:40Speaker 8: Mystery Science Theater do this? Did Rift Tracks do this?
- 44:43Speaker 8: Because this seems one of those movies.
- 44:46Speaker 3: that desperately needed to have a Riff Trax edition or
- 44:50Speaker 3: Mystery Science Theater to make it watchable, to make it enjoyable.
- 44:53Speaker 17: Yeah, there's very long, long, long, drawn-out parts between scenes
- 45:02Speaker 17: where there's no dialogue.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Or just very long, drawn-out spoken dialogue because they're from Texas.
- 45:10Speaker 8: It might take... a while to.
- 45:15Speaker 9: Get i don't feel like we had much of that
- 45:17Speaker 9: we had a few accents but.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Okay well one guy sounded like a boom hire i
- 45:22Speaker 3: couldn't understand half of what he was saying.
- 45:25Speaker 9: Well again not the biggest problem we're dealing with.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Here what do you think is the the Out of
- 45:35Speaker 3: the many where it couldn't decide what it wanted to be?
- 45:38Speaker 9: That's part of the problem, and that's what I was
- 45:40Speaker 9: telling you when we had those long, drawn-out silences. We
- 45:43Speaker 9: were discussing... I was like, I mean, we did a
- 45:46Speaker 9: whole episode on Legend of Boggy Creek, and Legend of
- 45:49Speaker 9: Boggy Creek was his first feature film and is kind
- 45:53Speaker 9: of that same thing. Like, it has... And it's not
- 45:55Speaker 9: even officially meant to be a regular movie. It's still
- 45:58Speaker 9: kind of a documentary... but it's a docudrama because they
- 46:02Speaker 9: recreate all these scenes. So it's like, but even then
- 46:06Speaker 9: it shifts in tone quite a bit. And like, sometimes
- 46:09Speaker 9: it feels like it's a straight up documentary. And then
- 46:13Speaker 9: other times it seems like you're just watching a weird
- 46:16Speaker 9: backwards movie. So like it, it seems inconsistent.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I'm like, is this, is this, are you sure this
- 46:21Speaker 3: is the movie and not just a documentary? I don't
- 46:23Speaker 3: understand what's going on.
- 46:25Speaker 9: And that never went away for you.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Never did.
- 46:27Speaker 9: I think that was said more than anything in this movie.
- 46:30Speaker 9: What is going on? Just us sort of lamenting that
- 46:36Speaker 9: the entire film. What is going on right now?
- 46:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 46:41Speaker 9: But yeah, I feel like that's maybe just something Pierce
- 46:44Speaker 9: sort of does in general. Like, I don't know. He's, again,
- 46:48Speaker 9: just sort of seemed like he wanted to be a
- 46:50Speaker 9: director and he started making movies and more power to him.
- 46:53Speaker 9: That's cool, but like... I don't know. I was telling you,
- 46:57Speaker 9: this one's technically probably a little more polished than that
- 47:00Speaker 9: other movie, so I don't know. I think it's just
- 47:08Speaker 9: an early filmmaker still trying to find his footing and
- 47:11Speaker 9: still trying to figure out the system. It's definitely, you know,
- 47:14Speaker 9: I usually don't have a problem with low-budget movies, but
- 47:18Speaker 9: this one's definitely a low-budget indie kind of movie, but
- 47:21Speaker 9: I don't know. Usually you need a Something to make
- 47:25Speaker 9: up for that. I try not to take that into
- 47:28Speaker 9: consideration and just go with the story or the performances
- 47:31Speaker 9: or something else. But this one's kind of lacking even
- 47:35Speaker 9: in most of those areas. So I think that's where
- 47:38Speaker 9: it loses me. It's like I don't want to take
- 47:40Speaker 9: points off for being low budget. I don't want to
- 47:42Speaker 9: take points off for him not being a super highbrow filmmaker.
- 47:46Speaker 9: But you have to make up for it somewhere. It
- 47:49Speaker 9: has to balance out somehow.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Dude, that fucking mask.
- 47:55Speaker 8: That was the most impractical. You're in fucking Texas.
- 48:00Speaker 3: And you're wearing a... What is it? The baghead man?
- 48:04Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I called him.
- 48:05Speaker 9: That's what we were calling him.
- 48:06Speaker 8: Baghead man.
- 48:08Speaker 9: And now when you wonder where Jason got his idea
- 48:11Speaker 9: to be a baghead for a whole movie plus movie
- 48:14Speaker 9: and a half.
- 48:14Speaker 8: When was the first Jason movie?
- 48:16Speaker 9: Two. Two? He wears a bag on his head the
- 48:19Speaker 9: whole time. When was that? I guess... 80... 182. This
- 48:24Speaker 9: first one's 80, right?
- 48:25Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 48:28Speaker 9: To the Googles. But that's the thing. That's what I
- 48:32Speaker 9: sort of gave credit for in watching Boggy Creek was
- 48:36Speaker 9: like it was so early on and nothing like that
- 48:38Speaker 9: had been done before and they really hadn't done a
- 48:41Speaker 9: ton of like documenting the cryptids or anything, you know,
- 48:45Speaker 9: the Bigfoot kind of stories. So it's like it was
- 48:48Speaker 9: sort of ahead of the curve on that. And the
- 48:50Speaker 9: way it was doing it was different. So I kind
- 48:52Speaker 9: of gave it points for originality. But this one just doesn't... Like,
- 48:56Speaker 9: even the stuff it's doing... Like, it gets credit by
- 49:00Speaker 9: a lot of horror fans for being such an early slasher.
- 49:02Speaker 12: But.
- 49:03Speaker 9: Not that I don't always go to this movie. But
- 49:05Speaker 9: I even had to check. I was like, whoa, wait.
- 49:07Speaker 9: What year was Black Christmas? So Black Christmas is still
- 49:09Speaker 9: two years before this. So... It's still not, like, the
- 49:13Speaker 9: earliest version of what it's trying to do. It's a
- 49:17Speaker 9: little earlier than a lot of the slasher... that got
- 49:20Speaker 9: way more famous but I still feel like even those
- 49:23Speaker 9: are way more entertaining than.
- 49:25Speaker 3: This one yeah I was I guess the most entertaining
- 49:33Speaker 3: was the when they were using fucking spark plug as bait.
- 49:38Speaker 7: Oh god.
- 49:40Speaker 9: A disturbing scene. A couple of them, actually.
- 49:44Speaker 7: Well, who's Sparkplug?
- 49:46Speaker 9: Your favorite character. The world's worst driver.
- 49:48Speaker 7: World's worst driver.
- 49:51Speaker 8: Who the fuck keeps giving this guy the keys?
- 49:53Speaker 9: Well, first he couldn't even find them when they were
- 49:55Speaker 9: on a sign as big as the wall that said
- 49:58Speaker 9: car keys.
- 49:59Speaker 8: And then were then numbered. Good fucking God.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that fucking mask.
- 50:07Speaker 8: It's like the eye holes were like the size of
- 50:09Speaker 8: a nickel.
- 50:10Speaker 9: So yes, Friday the 13th is, the original one is 1980.
- 50:15Speaker 9: And as I suspected, they quickly followed that up. So yep,
- 50:19Speaker 9: 81 was the second one. So the second one, he
- 50:21Speaker 9: is Baghead Jason. Not the coolest look he has. I
- 50:25Speaker 9: guess that would be Jason X.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Where he goes to space?
- 50:29Speaker 9: When he goes to space and he gets that cool
- 50:31Speaker 9: silver shiny super space look.
- 50:32Speaker 8: Awful, but yet I'd rather watch that.
- 50:36Speaker 9: Hey, a lot of people love that one.
- 50:38Speaker 8: Where they dip.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Somebody's head in the... Where they freeze their head.
- 50:42Speaker 9: Liquid nitrogen.
- 50:45Speaker 8: Yeah, and it shatters.
- 50:46Speaker 9: That also has the best kill ever, though. Sleeping Bag Girl,
- 50:49Speaker 9: come on. That is maybe the best Jason kill in
- 50:52Speaker 9: the entire run of the series.
- 50:53Speaker 8: Which one was that?
- 50:54Speaker 9: He puts the girl in the sleeping bag and just
- 50:56Speaker 9: swings her around and cracks her into a tree.
- 50:58Speaker 3: That was a couple different movies, wasn't it?
- 51:00Speaker 9: That one, the most... Because they.
- 51:01Speaker 8: Did it in the remake with Jared Petalecki.
- 51:03Speaker 9: Yeah, they did that too. But again, that was after
- 51:06Speaker 9: Jason X. They're tributing their own series, I guess. But yeah,
- 51:10Speaker 9: so I mean, again, it's doing it before Jason was
- 51:13Speaker 9: doing it. And I'm assuming Jason's, the creators of Jason
- 51:18Speaker 9: are sort of doing a tribute to this movie, which again, yeah,
- 51:22Speaker 9: it's an odd choice. So impractical.
- 51:24Speaker 3: I mean, that fabric didn't look even remotely breathable.
- 51:27Speaker 9: I mean. No, not at all. Which is why he
- 51:29Speaker 9: couldn't breathe. He was like huffing and puffing and the
- 51:32Speaker 9: whole mask was moving because he's trying to not breathe.
- 51:35Speaker 3: I'm telling you, that's me, like Kroger.
- 51:40Speaker 9: This is an interesting time to watch this movie, as
- 51:42Speaker 9: we all wander around with masks on our face. We
- 51:45Speaker 9: should go for the full head mask.
- 51:47Speaker 8: Say most of us not killing people.
- 51:49Speaker 9: Eh, sometimes. Most of us. A different way.
- 51:52Speaker 7: We're just infecting each other.
- 51:53Speaker 9: It's a different version of killing people. But yeah, we
- 51:56Speaker 9: should all go full head mask from here on out.
- 51:59Speaker 8: I just wish this movie would have figured out what
- 52:00Speaker 8: it wanted to be. Yeah.
- 52:02Speaker 9: It does enter that really weird tone. Like right there
- 52:06Speaker 9: when they hand, well, they don't hand, when finally Sparkplug
- 52:12Speaker 9: gets some keys. Or even that first walk out, like
- 52:15Speaker 9: you were calling it out for the music. That music
- 52:18Speaker 9: is just so ridiculous.
- 52:20Speaker 7: It started right at that point. She's like, what is
- 52:22Speaker 7: this music trying to be? Because it almost sounds like
- 52:24Speaker 7: Benny Hill music. And I was like, well, just wait.
- 52:27Speaker 7: Sparkplug's going to do something wacky.
- 52:30Speaker 9: Later, I was doing yakety sacks while they were driving
- 52:33Speaker 9: the cars. And that made it so much more fun, really.
- 52:35Speaker 3: That was just a big old mess. It was just like,
- 52:38Speaker 3: could we get any more slapsticky?
- 52:40Speaker 9: Yeah, we could have. At least then it would have
- 52:43Speaker 9: committed to doing something. But it tries for a tone
- 52:47Speaker 9: that's kind of slapstick, but never even delivers comedic, really.
- 52:51Speaker 9: It's just like... a sad attempt at it, but they
- 52:54Speaker 9: don't even, we don't get a pratfall, we don't get
- 52:57Speaker 9: somebody get hit in the face with a pie, like,
- 52:58Speaker 9: we don't even go to the standard comedy.
- 53:01Speaker 8: We do get Sparkplug doing a fucking Dukes of Hazzard
- 53:03Speaker 8: into the pond.
- 53:04Speaker 9: Yeah, it's still not even a really impressive, like, you know,
- 53:08Speaker 9: Duke boys would get some air.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Or you'd have that mid, and it would, like, pause.
- 53:13Speaker 9: Freeze for the commercial break. Yeah. And then we'd come
- 53:15Speaker 9: back and wait and be like, well, them Duke boys
- 53:17Speaker 9: is in trouble now.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Although we did get a couple slow-mo, like, When the
- 53:22Speaker 3: car's sliding around, because, gee, a mini fucking Christmas.
- 53:25Speaker 9: Yeah, let's, I don't know what we need to attack
- 53:27Speaker 9: on that one. Is it the cars in this town?
- 53:30Speaker 9: Or the roads just made out of banana peels? I
- 53:32Speaker 9: don't know.
- 53:33Speaker 7: It's the cars back then. And the fact that the
- 53:35Speaker 7: roads were mostly gravel.
- 53:37Speaker 9: That's the thing. I'm watching some of these, and I'm like,
- 53:40Speaker 9: this is, yeah, there's a couple of times when they're
- 53:42Speaker 9: going down these dirt roads, and I'm like, you guys
- 53:44Speaker 9: are idiots. Like, look at your bald tires. You're driving
- 53:47Speaker 9: this big, heavy-ass vehicle. down some road that has no
- 53:51Speaker 9: gravel no asphalt at all in the whole damn town
- 53:55Speaker 9: and like yeah they're just going down a muddy hill
- 53:57Speaker 9: somewhere because it's raining all the time i'm like it's
- 53:59Speaker 9: your own fault when you get stuck and die.
- 54:01Speaker 3: It rains all the time in japan too.
- 54:03Speaker 9: Yeah apparently hey he'd been there he knows i.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Didn't know that was one of their uh cultural facts
- 54:11Speaker 3: is that it always oh.
- 54:12Speaker 9: Yeah all the time seattle and japan yep i'll be
- 54:16Speaker 9: damned Learn something new every day. See, this is a documentary.
- 54:20Speaker 9: You're learning stuff.
- 54:22Speaker 8: I don't like the things I'm learning.
- 54:24Speaker 9: I don't like to learn. So we already kind of
- 54:29Speaker 9: called him out that first time around because this is
- 54:31Speaker 9: supposed to be a big slasher-y kind of movie, but
- 54:35Speaker 9: his first two people he doesn't even kill.
- 54:37Speaker 7: No, he doesn't.
- 54:38Speaker 9: He's a fledgling killer and hasn't figured out how to
- 54:41Speaker 9: deliver the murder part of it yet.
- 54:42Speaker 3: Practice, practice, practice.
- 54:44Speaker 9: And he does. The only, that's the only thing I'll
- 54:48Speaker 9: give it. It's like when he's like attacking them, like
- 54:51Speaker 9: it's pretty brutal. Like it's way more. gruesome than the
- 54:55Speaker 9: whole rest of this movie like.
- 54:56Speaker 3: It does until it gets ridiculous.
- 54:59Speaker 9: When we get to that scene in a minute but
- 55:00Speaker 9: other than that every other time it gets it turns
- 55:03Speaker 9: and it gets really dark and it is one of
- 55:05Speaker 9: those i'm like okay i can see these scenes why
- 55:08Speaker 9: some of the people i know that are really into
- 55:10Speaker 9: horror like this movie if the rest of the movie
- 55:12Speaker 9: was this.
- 55:13Speaker 8: Tone then we get spark plug again oh lord.
- 55:17Speaker 9: No i thought you were going to Then it takes
- 55:21Speaker 9: a turn that I'm like, I can't take this movie seriously.
- 55:24Speaker 9: I don't know that I was before, but when we
- 55:27Speaker 9: hit the trombone scene, I was just like, what am
- 55:31Speaker 9: I supposed to do with this movie? I can't take
- 55:33Speaker 9: you seriously now. First of all, because he was the
- 55:37Speaker 9: only darkness you were bringing to it, and now he's
- 55:40Speaker 9: doing silly bullshit.
- 55:42Speaker 8: What did he have in his pants?
- 55:44Speaker 9: Good Lord. Take your pick. He had a lot of things.
- 55:47Speaker 7: What did he not carry with him? He had a pipe.
- 55:51Speaker 9: Pipe?
- 55:52Speaker 7: He had a silenced revolver. He had a knife. And
- 55:58Speaker 7: he had a roll of tape.
- 55:59Speaker 3: Hold on, this is sounding like your EDC.
- 56:01Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know.
- 56:02Speaker 9: And over on the side, a batarang. Grappling hook. Lightsaber.
- 56:08Speaker 9: We covered all the different things he might have on
- 56:10Speaker 9: his utility belt.
- 56:12Speaker 3: A long sword.
- 56:13Speaker 9: Shark repellent. Some days you just can't get rid of
- 56:17Speaker 9: a bomb.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Because he would just stop and then just start pulling
- 56:20Speaker 3: shit out of his pants. I was like, what's going
- 56:23Speaker 3: to come out now?
- 56:24Speaker 8: What kind of movie is this?
- 56:28Speaker 9: That I wondered a few times too. That was mostly
- 56:31Speaker 9: just those guys in the car together.
- 56:32Speaker 8: But that was the second best part of this entire movie.
- 56:35Speaker 3: That was the part where I was just like, this
- 56:37Speaker 3: is funny.
- 56:39Speaker 8: For, like, three minutes.
- 56:40Speaker 9: Because it kept going. Like, it got weird and uncomfortable.
- 56:43Speaker 9: And then it continued on.
- 56:45Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 56:46Speaker 9: And we're like, okay, they're done with that silly joke. Whoa,
- 56:48Speaker 9: all right. This guy's just continuing to be a creep.
- 56:51Speaker 9: All right.
- 56:52Speaker 12: Yep.
- 56:52Speaker 7: Creepy, creepy.
- 56:54Speaker 8: Yeah. Yeah.
- 56:55Speaker 9: I mean, I'd feel a little worse, except it's Sparkplug,
- 56:57Speaker 9: and he's already a bastard.
- 56:59Speaker 6: Can't drive.
- 57:02Speaker 8: But should we go back to the trombone?
- 57:03Speaker 9: Because, I mean... Oh, my God.
- 57:05Speaker 3: That.
- 57:07Speaker 8: I was just furious.
- 57:08Speaker 3: I was very furious that, like, okay, when he first
- 57:12Speaker 3: gets the trombone, he does blow out a few notes
- 57:16Speaker 3: on the trombone.
- 57:17Speaker 9: Yep, yep, I heard it.
- 57:17Speaker 8: So we have proof that he can, in fact, blow air.
- 57:21Speaker 9: He doesn't seem to talk much, but he can blow
- 57:23Speaker 9: enough air to make a trombone make a little bit
- 57:25Speaker 9: of noise.
- 57:26Speaker 3: And I'm wondering about the factual accuracy. I mean, I
- 57:30Speaker 3: know the story is loosely based.
- 57:32Speaker 9: Everything else is made up, but that trombone. Trombone part
- 57:36Speaker 9: is straight up fact.
- 57:38Speaker 3: But then when he actually goes to the murdering where
- 57:40Speaker 3: he's actually doing the blowing on the trombone.
- 57:43Speaker 9: Trombone.
- 57:44Speaker 8: The trombone.
- 57:45Speaker 3: When the murdering is happening, I would have been more
- 57:49Speaker 3: happy if it had actually made sad trombone sounds as
- 57:52Speaker 3: he stabbed her.
- 57:52Speaker 9: That's what I said as we were watching. I was like, ooh,
- 57:54Speaker 9: sad trombone now.
- 57:55Speaker 3: But then there was no sound coming out at that point.
- 57:59Speaker 3: And then my other concern. or aggravation, all these dead
- 58:04Speaker 3: bodies that they are finding have bite marks.
- 58:08Speaker 9: I thought that as soon as we got to the
- 58:10Speaker 9: second time, I was just watching him do this, and
- 58:12Speaker 9: I'm like, he never has that off, like ever, at
- 58:15Speaker 9: any point in this movie. Granted, I guess, for our sake,
- 58:19Speaker 9: to preserve the mystery, but I'm just kind of like...
- 58:23Speaker 9: Since you've decided to be a mask killer, it's also
- 58:26Speaker 9: odd that the thing you like to do is bite
- 58:28Speaker 9: people when you have a mask that covers your mouth.
- 58:31Speaker 8: You need like a zipper face mask.
- 58:32Speaker 9: Yeah, and it's like knotted with a big piece of rope.
- 58:35Speaker 9: It's not easy to just lift up and go to town.
- 58:37Speaker 8: Maybe he unties it and then ties it back and
- 58:41Speaker 8: it's a whole ordeal.
- 58:44Speaker 9: He needs a gimp mask so he can just get
- 58:47Speaker 9: it out there.
- 58:48Speaker 3: It would be more sensitive and more practical. This is
- 58:51Speaker 3: the most impractical serial killer I've ever heard of. I
- 58:56Speaker 3: rate him like a negative three on the serial killer
- 58:58Speaker 3: chart because he did not think this out.
- 59:01Speaker 9: Well, and he is very unusual for a serial killer
- 59:05Speaker 9: because he doesn't follow a pattern. I mean, it's him and... and.
- 59:11Speaker 8: Ramirez never followed a pattern.
- 59:13Speaker 9: No, it was the other big Night Stalker. No, not
- 59:15Speaker 9: Night Stalker. The other guy.
- 59:16Speaker 8: Ramirez.
- 59:16Speaker 9: The one they never caught. Oh, Zodiac. Yeah, Zodiac. It's
- 59:20Speaker 9: like him and Zodiac. That was what kind of kept
- 59:23Speaker 9: Zodiac going was he didn't follow the pattern that so
- 59:25Speaker 9: many other stereotypical serial killers did. But this guy smacks
- 59:30Speaker 9: him with a pipe, gnaws on him a little bit,
- 59:33Speaker 9: shoots him with a gun. He's got a knife on
- 59:35Speaker 9: a trombone. You take your pick. He does kind of
- 59:37Speaker 9: whatever he wants. Which becomes sort of the gimmicky part
- 59:40Speaker 9: of slashers later. But they're not trying to be an
- 59:44Speaker 9: actual serial killer movie when Jason picks up whatever random
- 59:48Speaker 9: thing is going to be funny when he impales somebody
- 59:50Speaker 9: with it. But yeah, I don't know. To still try
- 59:53Speaker 9: to be... I mean, is that the way the case went?
- 59:56Speaker 9: Was he really just shooting people half the time?
- 59:59Speaker 3: I have not up all my details. I know I've
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: heard about the case several times before. And I knew
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: it was related to the movie, but I've listened to
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: so many podcasts about so many murderers.
- 1:00:10Speaker 9: You're one of those dorks now.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: I am.
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: I mean, I don't listen to us, but I listen
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: to like.
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: Well, of course not.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: But yeah, there are so many that I've listened to
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: over the year and a half that I've been listening
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: to podcasts.
- 1:00:25Speaker 9: He finally came around. Eh.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Just some. 90% of all I listen to podcasts about
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: dead people and reviews of young adult horror books like
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: Fear Street and Christopher Pike.
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: None of these surprise me.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: No, they should not.
- 1:00:41Speaker 9: I would have seen you going right for those areas.
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: I do.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: But similar to the movie, they never found... the killer
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: who was doing these crimes. They might have had some
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: potential suspects, but nothing was ever solved.
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: In the context of this movie, every few minutes somebody
- 1:01:01Speaker 9: was giving themselves up as the killer. I was like,
- 1:01:04Speaker 9: is that how these work? Sometimes Zodiac is one of
- 1:01:08Speaker 9: those that everybody kept writing in and calling and pretending
- 1:01:12Speaker 9: like they were.
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: They finally broke the Zodiac cipher.
- 1:01:16Speaker 9: It's a little late.
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: Yeah, but still, I mean, that's siphoning.
- 1:01:20Speaker 9: They finally get through it and we're just like, you
- 1:01:23Speaker 9: should have drank your old tea. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:01:26Speaker 8: But yeah, it's been how many years now? I don't
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: even remember.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: It wasn't even anything really like, ooh, ah, like groundbreaking,
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: but they finally busted the Zodiac code.
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: It's just like, ha ha, you'll never catch me.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Pretty much.
- 1:01:39Speaker 9: That bastard.
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: I would not recommend this movie.
- 1:01:43Speaker 9: But it's perfect for New Year's. They played the one
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: song that's a New Year's song. We're just crossing over
- 1:01:50Speaker 9: into this New Year. We get this movie where they
- 1:01:53Speaker 9: play that song that nobody knows the words to.
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: This is not a good way to kick off the year.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: This is not a great New Year movie.
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: Sad Trombone.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Sad Trombone. About halfway through, I'm like, can we just
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: turn it off and review some Twilight Zone episodes instead?
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: That is usually what we're watching at this juncture.
- 1:02:16Speaker 8: And then, like, every ten minutes, hey, you know what
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: this movie doesn't have enough of?
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: Marianne.
- 1:02:23Speaker 9: Every woman that would walk by, what would you say?
- 1:02:25Speaker 8: That's not Marianne.
- 1:02:27Speaker 9: I'm not kidding. That's what happened while we were watching this.
- 1:02:31Speaker 9: Every woman that walked by, you know what she's not? Marianne.
- 1:02:33Speaker 8: It wasn't even every woman.
- 1:02:34Speaker 9: That guy in a dress? Not Marianne.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: I was beginning to wonder, are you sure Marianne's in
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: this movie?
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: I was like, no, but I'm pretty sure I talked
- 1:02:45Speaker 10: to her about it, so maybe she just politely went
- 1:02:48Speaker 10: along like, yeah, whatever, I'm in that.
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: She would have been.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: Way nicer than that. Don't give her a pissy voice.
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: That's the thing. She was so nice. She pretended like
- 1:02:59Speaker 9: she was in this movie. And then we got to her.
- 1:03:01Speaker 9: But it's like two-thirds of the way over by then.
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: It's like, really?
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: And then she's only in it for like a... Oh
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: my gosh.
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: But do you blame her? She worked for a day
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: and a half. And she was out of there. And
- 1:03:12Speaker 9: as I said, as she was crawling away, trying to
- 1:03:15Speaker 9: get away from the killer, my voiceover was, must get
- 1:03:19Speaker 9: out of this movie.
- 1:03:21Speaker 8: But let's just.
- 1:03:21Speaker 9: Right there with her.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: She was gorgeous, though.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: Still looks good.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: Still looked good up to last week.
- 1:03:27Speaker 9: I don't know. I hadn't seen her when she got sick.
- 1:03:30Speaker 9: But right before that, she was still doing MeTV ads
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: and she still looked good.
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: We saw her, what, four years ago?
- 1:03:37Speaker 9: And she was still, you know. She always looked good.
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: Unlike Ginger.
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: That's true.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Well, nobody on that show aged well.
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: The Professor. How....
- 1:03:51Speaker 9: I mean, Bob was probably the best of the bunch
- 1:03:54Speaker 9: because he never got heavy. He just got gray hair
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: really fast. But he always kind of looked like himself.
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: Because the professor was hot.
- 1:04:00Speaker 9: The professor got heavy, though.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: He did. He was on several episodes of The Twilight Zone.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: We could have talked about those when we were not
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: watching this movie.
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: We could have also watched Winterhawk. She's in that.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: I think she's an Indian.
- 1:04:17Speaker 9: She might have been Indian.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: You don't know her, but.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: He's as Indian as apple pie.
- 1:04:21Speaker 9: It does make me... Coconut cream pie. But... It does
- 1:04:27Speaker 9: make me wonder if she was just like.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Where did they get the rest of the ingredients? I
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: understand there's coconut on the island, but where's the cream?
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Did they have milk? Because, I mean, where did they.
- 1:04:36Speaker 9: An island cow, you know.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Did I miss that episode? Because I don't remember an
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: island cow.
- 1:04:42Speaker 9: You milk the monkey that lives on the island. That's fine, right?
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: Talking about Gilligan like that.
- 1:04:49Speaker 9: But, yeah, it makes me wonder if she was just, like,
- 1:04:51Speaker 9: friends with the director. Because she barely, like, she didn't
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: work in a ton of movies. But she's in Winterhawk,
- 1:04:58Speaker 9: which is his movie in between. Like, it's after Boggy Creek,
- 1:05:02Speaker 9: but before this one. And then she also comes back
- 1:05:05Speaker 9: for this one. So, like.
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: Is she a glutton for punishment?
- 1:05:07Speaker 9: I guess. I was like, like, she knows he's not making, like,
- 1:05:10Speaker 9: highbrow movies. So, like, what?
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: I guess.
- 1:05:13Speaker 9: Did she do, like, anything.
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: She really didn't want to do movies is what I
- 1:05:18Speaker 9: heard recently. Like when they were doing kind of a recap, she, she,
- 1:05:21Speaker 9: I think as she got older, she really liked stage
- 1:05:23Speaker 9: work better. And like, she even came here like right,
- 1:05:27Speaker 9: I think before we saw her, I think like six
- 1:05:30Speaker 9: or eight months before that I saw her on our
- 1:05:32Speaker 9: local news talking about a play that I don't know
- 1:05:35Speaker 9: if she was, I think she did have a part
- 1:05:37Speaker 9: in it, but she was also just kind of involved
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: in like theater in general and was like working in
- 1:05:42Speaker 9: a bunch of different avenues. It seemed like, but yeah,
- 1:05:45Speaker 9: she came, through town doing some sort of play that
- 1:05:48Speaker 9: was touring so i think she worked continuously doing like
- 1:05:52Speaker 9: stage work as she got older but yeah was not
- 1:05:55Speaker 9: she did a lot of tv when she was younger
- 1:05:57Speaker 9: did a little bit after gilligan as well but then
- 1:06:00Speaker 9: kind of got out of that and then never really
- 1:06:03Speaker 9: that's why as i talked to her like i had
- 1:06:05Speaker 9: a few movies to go to and like for the
- 1:06:07Speaker 9: most part it was it was coming out of tv
- 1:06:10Speaker 9: and going to stage work so yeah she didn't seem
- 1:06:13Speaker 9: like she wanted to do movies Maybe this is why.
- 1:06:17Speaker 9: She's like, I did two with this guy, and you
- 1:06:19Speaker 9: know what? I think I'm just going to stick to
- 1:06:20Speaker 9: the stage.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: I did watch. I don't know how long ago it
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: was recorded, but it was an interview with her, and
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: they asked her what she wanted to be remembered for.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: Out of everything she's done in her life, what do
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: you want to be remembered for?
- 1:06:37Speaker 9: Your legacy, yeah.
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: She said, Just for being a kind person.
- 1:06:42Speaker 9: Something a lot of people in the world and or
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: this country could learn something from. Yeah. We are not
- 1:06:47Speaker 9: in kind times. Like, we probably could all learn something
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: from Marianne. That was her book, even when I talked
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: to her. Like, that, like, what would Marianne do kind
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: of approach to, like, in this ridiculous life that we're in. Like,
- 1:07:02Speaker 9: just in general, her character was always kind of nice
- 1:07:05Speaker 9: and went about things the best possible way.
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:07:09Speaker 9: So, yeah, it was an approach to life in general
- 1:07:12Speaker 9: more than... I think that's part of what she carried
- 1:07:14Speaker 9: with her, too.
- 1:07:15Speaker 8: Well, that is still on the interview.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: They asked her, he's like, out of all the things
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: you've done in your life, what are you the most
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: proud of? What is, you know, what do you sit
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: back and be like, that's what I'm proud of? I
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: was able to take care of my mom.
- 1:07:30Speaker 8: And I'm just like.
- 1:07:32Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:07:32Speaker 8: It wasn't like, well, I did this, I.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: Did this, you know, I... I was in Winterhawk, dammit!
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: I could take care of my mom when she needed me.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: That was the thing she was most proud of in
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: her life, that she could do these things and take
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: care of her mom. Because she never had any kids.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: She never.
- 1:07:49Speaker 9: Yeah, because I looked up lately, because up until recently,
- 1:07:53Speaker 9: I was still thinking I had a shot. But she
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: got married briefly, I think in the 60s, and it
- 1:08:00Speaker 9: didn't work out. And she said after that, she just...
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: Didn't find the right person. Guess it's not for me.
- 1:08:08Speaker 9: She just wasn't married the whole rest of her life.
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: I was just like, that's weird.
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: Did she ever have any scandals?
- 1:08:14Speaker 9: Did she call me?
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: I mean, what the hell? I don't remember there ever
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: being any Don Will scandals.
- 1:08:20Speaker 9: I mean, she was mailing some weed that one time.
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: I think that's the closest. I mean, who isn't into
- 1:08:26Speaker 9: smoking weed at this point? Again, that's the one thing
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: that everybody's just come to terms with as time's gone on.
- 1:08:31Speaker 9: Be like, yeah, that's what people do.
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: Dawn Wells sleeps with married man, breaks up household. There
- 1:08:39Speaker 8: wasn't because that didn't seem.
- 1:08:41Speaker 9: She wasn't that kind of person. She was just cool.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: At least on the side that we know. I mean.
- 1:08:50Speaker 9: As far as I'm concerned, I'm taking that few minutes
- 1:08:54Speaker 9: I talked to her into account. That's all I got
- 1:08:56Speaker 9: to go on and she was awesome. All you need. Yep,
- 1:08:58Speaker 9: that's all I need. She was nice to me. She
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: was nice to you.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: She liked my hair. Those few minutes in our entire
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: lifetime of watching Gilligan's Island.
- 1:09:06Speaker 9: Yeah, every moment she's on Gilligan's Island, she's pretty damn cool.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: When she's trying to crawl away, must get back to
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: the island.
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: Please, please.
- 1:09:16Speaker 9: They're making another one of those damn movies next week.
- 1:09:19Speaker 9: I just got to get out of here and get
- 1:09:20Speaker 9: back in one of those. Got to go hang out
- 1:09:22Speaker 9: with the Harlem Globetrotters. Which is an awesome movie, by
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: the way.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: Maybe we should have watched that one.
- 1:09:30Speaker 9: Nope, too bad. We've already done that one. I told you,
- 1:09:32Speaker 9: you've got the other two you can cover. We already
- 1:09:35Speaker 9: did the Harlem Globetrotters when I hung out with that
- 1:09:37Speaker 9: Harlem Globetrotter.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: How was Mary Ann never in a Twilight Zone episode?
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Everybody was. How did she miss it?
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: She was in plenty of other stuff at that time, though.
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: Because I was looking at the list the other day.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Like how we just keep coming back to Marianne because
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: otherwise this movie just sucks. There's not really much else.
- 1:09:55Speaker 9: To go on. That's the problem. I tried to keep
- 1:09:59Speaker 9: track of stuff I wanted to talk about and we've
- 1:10:01Speaker 9: attacked the few things I had, but I'm like, there's.
- 1:10:03Speaker 7: Just not much to it.
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: It's a lot of driving around on dirt roads.
- 1:10:07Speaker 8: Badly.
- 1:10:09Speaker 9: Yeah, barely staying on the roads. And then people sort
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: of They're not even figuring out the mystery, really. They're
- 1:10:17Speaker 9: just listing off things that happened. And then, yeah, at
- 1:10:20Speaker 9: the end, they're just like, and he got away. Like, well, yeah,
- 1:10:24Speaker 9: these police suck.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: But then apparently he went and saw the movie about himself.
- 1:10:29Speaker 9: Yeah, you think the whole time he was just like, bullshit,
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: that's not how this happened at all. Like, sir, would
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: you please stop yelling in the theater and take that
- 1:10:37Speaker 9: damn bag off your head?
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: You'd think that'd be kind of inconspicuous. Conspicuous?
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: I got it wrong. Just walking around with a mask
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: on your head going to the movies.
- 1:10:48Speaker 7: That's what was so weird, too.
- 1:10:51Speaker 9: It's not like it was just like, okay, I'm about
- 1:10:54Speaker 9: to murder these people. I'm going to put it on.
- 1:10:56Speaker 9: When they're following him there, he doesn't know they're there.
- 1:10:59Speaker 9: He's just standing out in the woods looking at trees
- 1:11:01Speaker 9: with a bag on his head. What the hell are
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: you doing? Why would you just be walking around? That's
- 1:11:06Speaker 9: why I was watching it going to those He's in
- 1:11:09Speaker 9: line in front of you at the grocery with that
- 1:11:11Speaker 9: bag on his head. He's going to buy a magazine
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: and got a bag on his head.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: Oh no, that's not me. That's the other guy with
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: a bag on his head.
- 1:11:21Speaker 9: How dare you? I don't even know that other guy
- 1:11:24Speaker 9: with the bag on his head. I don't know. It
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: just didn't make any sense. Even the reasoning for it.
- 1:11:32Speaker 9: What the fuck is this thing doing now? This is
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: why I need a real computer phone.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Music worked better than anything that was in the movie
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: then when they needed music there wasn't any and it
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: was just a lot of awkward just.
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: Weird silence that we had to fill with making stupid
- 1:11:51Speaker 9: comments about it we mystery scienced our own theater.
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: I'm telling you Crow wouldn't fucking what's the other robot's
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: name Tom Servo yeah that's what else we watched some
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: mystery science theater We watched something about the Fu Manchu guy.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:12Speaker 7: God, that was fucking weird.
- 1:12:14Speaker 9: That was so weird. I think the most important thing
- 1:12:19Speaker 9: we learned during this movie... Hold on.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: You're implying we learned something.
- 1:12:22Speaker 7: Oh, we did.
- 1:12:24Speaker 9: We learned what hoop cheese is. Because we saw it
- 1:12:28Speaker 9: on the side of the grocery and we're all going,
- 1:12:30Speaker 9: hoop cheese?
- 1:12:31Speaker 7: What the hell is hoop cheese?
- 1:12:33Speaker 9: And I'm like, oh, it's going to be a second
- 1:12:35Speaker 9: before one of you looks in. I'm like, I'm not
- 1:12:38Speaker 9: even going to reach for my phone because I know
- 1:12:40Speaker 9: one of you, within 10 seconds, there you are.
- 1:12:45Speaker 8: Who would you have put your money on? Would you
- 1:12:46Speaker 8: have thought it would have been me?
- 1:12:47Speaker 9: I mean, usually it's you, but I think Jay was
- 1:12:50Speaker 9: pretty bored. He was like, please, anything I can do
- 1:12:55Speaker 9: to not watch this movie.
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: I'm talking to one of my friends right now. During
- 1:12:59Speaker 7: the movie, I was talking to him right now.
- 1:13:03Speaker 9: You're like, this movie's lame. Hold on. Gotta look up
- 1:13:06Speaker 9: Hoop Cheese.
- 1:13:07Speaker 7: Nah, he doesn't know. Dude, what's Hoop Cheese?
- 1:13:12Speaker 9: Tell me about it. What the fuck are you talking about?
- 1:13:16Speaker 9: You're not watching that Baghead movie, are you?
- 1:13:18Speaker 8: No.
- 1:13:19Speaker 9: Yes, I am. Trying to escape like Mary.
- 1:13:23Speaker 8: But then they made like a meta sequel to this.
- 1:13:25Speaker 8: It's like, I don't know.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: I don't even understand.
- 1:13:27Speaker 8: I tried to look up the premise.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: Of it and I just ended up being more confused
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: than anything. Other than it's got that one chick that
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: I think... Either you interviewed her or her sister for
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: the podcast, and I can't remember.
- 1:13:40Speaker 9: It could be anybody or their sister.
- 1:13:43Speaker 8: Well, who has a famous sister?
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: Lots of people.
- 1:13:47Speaker 8: A Cartwright, maybe? Cartwright!
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: Veronica is the one I talked to. Angela is the
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: one from Lost in Space. So is Angela in it?
- 1:13:59Speaker 8: I don't know. My phone is way over there.
- 1:14:02Speaker 9: This is why Jay won the quick draw.
- 1:14:06Speaker 8: On the hoop cheese.
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: On the hoop cheese.
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: High five for hoop cheese. Don't leave me hanging, dude.
- 1:14:13Speaker 9: I'm trying to. I'm typing.
- 1:14:15Speaker 7: Trying to make a deal here.
- 1:14:16Speaker 9: That really was the most interesting thing we learned.
- 1:14:18Speaker 8: 2014.
- 1:14:19Speaker 9: I was trying to figure out. I knew it was
- 1:14:21Speaker 9: pretty recent that that new version of The Town That
- 1:14:25Speaker 9: Dreaded Sundown came out.
- 1:14:27Speaker 8: Can we just do a review of the description from 2014?
- 1:14:31Speaker 8: IMDB because I don't want to have to watch it.
- 1:14:33Speaker 11: 65 years after a mass serial killer terrorized a small town, Texarkana,
- 1:14:39Speaker 11: the so-called Moonlight Murders begin again. Is it a copycat
- 1:14:44Speaker 11: or something even more sinister? A lonely high school girl
- 1:14:48Speaker 11: may be the key to catching him.
- 1:14:51Speaker 9: So if you want us to watch that one, you
- 1:14:53Speaker 9: write in and let us know.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: You'll have to give me at least 20 bucks though
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: because I am not watching this shit.
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: Hey, if you join the club, you can put it
- 1:14:59Speaker 9: on the list and For some of us bastards to
- 1:15:01Speaker 9: watch it, you'll probably get out of the Misty, so.
- 1:15:03Speaker 8: You'll be okay.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, unless you directly PayPal me 20 bucks.
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: We are fine with bribes, by the way, just so
- 1:15:10Speaker 9: you know.
- 1:15:11Speaker 8: Where the hell is the cast?
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: 20 bucks, I will watch and talk shit about.
- 1:15:20Speaker 8: Any movie that you want.
- 1:15:23Speaker 9: She's not joking.
- 1:15:24Speaker 8: Except for The Room. I refuse to go there.
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: That's fine oh i've seen it i've seen it a
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: couple of times i'll.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: Watch it again which one the one with the brie
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: lawson or the other one.
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: I don't know i mean i've seen the brie lawson
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: one too but no i've seen the other one at
- 1:15:38Speaker 9: least twice.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Now yeah i have no desire to see that movie i.
- 1:15:41Speaker 9: Saw the one in the in the theater with one
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: of the stars greg was there and the best part
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: was after the movie greg had like the screenplay from
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: it which if you've seen the room you know it's
- 1:15:53Speaker 9: brilliant So he takes it and picks people out of
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: the audience to do live reading recreations of the scenes
- 1:16:00Speaker 9: with that original dialogue. That was amazing. I was surprised
- 1:16:05Speaker 9: how impressive some of those people were and how good
- 1:16:09Speaker 9: they were doing his readings.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: There's another movie I refuse to watch, too.
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: Okay, which one?
- 1:16:13Speaker 8: What is it, boyfriend?
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: What movie do I refuse to watch?
- 1:16:16Speaker 7: Galaxy Quest.
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: I'm the minority. I don't think you're missing much. Everybody
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: else has come to love that movie.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: That one's going to cost you $ 75.
- 1:16:27Speaker 12: 50.
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: There you go. See, she has a price. She'll do it.
- 1:16:30Speaker 9: You're just going to have to kick in a little more.
- 1:16:32Speaker 8: And I won't be happy about it, and you will know.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: And yes, Veronica Cartwright is in the remake and or
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: sort of sequel to The Town That Dreaded Sunday.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounded more like it was a sequel, not
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: really a remake.
- 1:16:44Speaker 9: Yeah, kind of. But yet, they gave it the same title.
- 1:16:48Speaker 9: What do you think you are, The Thing?
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: I bought that today on Blu-ray.
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: Right there. Which one?
- 1:16:53Speaker 12: The prequel?
- 1:16:54Speaker 8: No, the good one.
- 1:16:55Speaker 9: The for real one. I'm okay with the prequel-y thing.
- 1:17:01Speaker 9: It's got its problems, but most of those were budgetary
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: and it wasn't their fault. Which I guess you could
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: say about this movie sometimes.
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: I'm not even sure a bigger budget would have helped
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: this movie.
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: No, I don't think so. I mean, again, there's so
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: much at the core. Like, whatever writing was there is
- 1:17:15Speaker 9: part of the problem. Trombone. There's just so many problems
- 1:17:19Speaker 9: that are just deep-rooted in this that I don't think... Again,
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: I think you'd have to redo everything. Like, you'd have
- 1:17:26Speaker 9: to bring in probably a different director. You'd have to
- 1:17:28Speaker 9: totally rewrite the script. You'd have to have real actors.
- 1:17:31Speaker 9: No offense to these guys, but I mean, you can
- 1:17:33Speaker 9: still see these are low end.
- 1:17:35Speaker 8: You'd have to have somebody score the movie.
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: Yeah, it needs a for real score, not the sad
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: trombone that that is. The town that dreaded the sad drum.
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: Phone.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Why did it not make noise when he was stabbing
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: her with it?
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: It's stupid because he made noise the first time.
- 1:18:01Speaker 9: Why then?
- 1:18:03Speaker 7: First time he picked it up. First of all, it
- 1:18:07Speaker 7: would have been funnier if it had made noise.
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: The knife wasn't that big. He didn't secure it very tight.
- 1:18:14Speaker 9: Not really, no.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: He was not applying enough force to actually.
- 1:18:19Speaker 9: Not to do much damage. He'd break the skin, but
- 1:18:21Speaker 9: I mean, I don't know if he'd kill her that way.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: Even if she would have only bled out, it would
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: have taken more than 15 seconds. Because none of those
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: seem like crucial hits.
- 1:18:32Speaker 9: Right? But then he stopped and gnawed on her, right?
- 1:18:35Speaker 9: We never saw him actually bite anybody. Yeah, I know,
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: because he had a stupid bag on his face. And
- 1:18:39Speaker 9: that part at least I get. I mean, sure, we're
- 1:18:42Speaker 9: all into biting on stomachs. We get that. That makes sense.
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: Maybe okay follow me here he's carrying around those little
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: chomping teeth like the wind.
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: Up yeah like the ones that are sitting over there
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: yes i have a pair at home too.
- 1:18:58Speaker 8: But like life size like people like the.
- 1:19:00Speaker 9: Chattering teeth yes novelty classics chattering.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: Teeth or he was a dentist and he had those
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: like dentist like.
- 1:19:09Speaker 9: Dental teeth Now we're going back to the Rudolph special.
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: I want to be a dentist.
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: Which, by the way.
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: And chew on women's stomachs. That guy seemed a little
- 1:19:19Speaker 9: serial killer anyway, our dentist friend there from the old
- 1:19:21Speaker 9: Rudolph special.
- 1:19:22Speaker 8: So what did you think of the.
- 1:19:24Speaker 9: Oh, yeah. You guys, while you were gone, during our
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: break there, before we started the movie, I also got
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: to see a sample of... Of what the hell is
- 1:19:34Speaker 9: the name of this thing?
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: Is it Frosty and Rudolph's Christmas in July special?
- 1:19:39Speaker 9: Yeah. I watched a snippet or two of the special.
- 1:19:44Speaker 9: It is totally Rankin and Bass. And what the fuck?
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: I just....
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: I remember the bad guy enough that I'm like, maybe
- 1:19:54Speaker 9: it was on at some point when I was a kid.
- 1:19:56Speaker 9: And then they came to their senses and went, oh, God,
- 1:19:58Speaker 9: we can't show this every year. And then they just
- 1:20:00Speaker 9: never played it again.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: How awesome was the Snow Dragons?
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: Snow Dragons were awesome. And the fucking snakes.
- 1:20:05Speaker 7: Awesome.
- 1:20:07Speaker 9: Rudolph, kind of a badass. He, like, comes out there
- 1:20:11Speaker 9: calling the dude out. He's like, come on, let's go.
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: Fights off some snakes. Like, Rudolph's a badass.
- 1:20:16Speaker 8: In the fucking sky.
- 1:20:18Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:20:18Speaker 9: Rudolph is awesome. So that's the takeaway, is Rudolph's super cool.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: And the bad guy's like, come at me if you can.
- 1:20:25Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:20:26Speaker 8: And he takes him down with, like, one fucking headbutt.
- 1:20:28Speaker 7: I'm like, I mean, Rudolph's pretty damn cool. Fucking breadbasket.
- 1:20:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:20:32Speaker 7: Right in his giblets. He gets him right there, and
- 1:20:35Speaker 7: he's like, oof. He loses the hat.
- 1:20:39Speaker 14: And then rudolph's got the hat but it's too big
- 1:20:41Speaker 14: for his head so he just kind of looks dorky
- 1:20:44Speaker 14: and his nose starts to light up and he gets
- 1:20:46Speaker 14: a snowflake print back on his uh so.
- 1:20:50Speaker 9: Yeah it's it's something i might have to maybe it'll
- 1:20:54Speaker 9: be one of those things i pretend like i'm gonna
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: watch next christmas and then i Look at it and go,
- 1:20:59Speaker 9: what's the running time on this?
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: Two fucking hours.
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: Well, it's two and a half with commercials.
- 1:21:03Speaker 9: Two and a half hours with commercials. Yeah, it was
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: on the commercial special.
- 1:21:05Speaker 7: With a fuck ton of singing. Oh, my God. It's
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: got so much fucking singing in it. Half the song. Well,
- 1:21:11Speaker 7: almost all the songs.
- 1:21:12Speaker 18: We should have just watched this movie instead because it
- 1:21:13Speaker 18: was fucking horrible.
- 1:21:14Speaker 9: Next holiday special. They're not that good. Right in now.
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: Misty's got a price tag attached, I'm sure. It is.
- 1:21:18Speaker 7: It's so bad. It's like every single thing that happens,
- 1:21:21Speaker 7: they're like, let's sing a song. We just got the tickets.
- 1:21:25Speaker 7: We just got the tickets.
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: I don't even remember the tickets. What are you talking about?
- 1:21:28Speaker 9: I don't know, but you brought them up a couple
- 1:21:30Speaker 9: of times. Don't you remember?
- 1:21:31Speaker 8: No.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: They get the tickets.
- 1:21:32Speaker 9: What tickets? I got a golden ticket.
- 1:21:35Speaker 8: No, they didn't get a golden ticket.
- 1:21:36Speaker 9: We watched that.
- 1:21:37Speaker 7: They fucking needed tickets to get in the goddamn fucking tent.
- 1:21:40Speaker 7: What do you mean, what tickets? They had to get
- 1:21:43Speaker 7: the roll of tickets so that the people could get
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: admission into the fucking show. How do you not remember this?
- 1:21:50Speaker 9: I don't even know.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: If that's the fucking song.
- 1:21:53Speaker 9: I have a pretty solid excuse.
- 1:21:55Speaker 18: They had to break into the song at every single moment.
- 1:21:59Speaker 18: Every single moment they had to break into some fucking song.
- 1:22:02Speaker 18: Rudolph's taking a shit. Let's sing the Rudolph poop song.
- 1:22:06Speaker 9: But there were no songs about the snakes.
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: There weren't.
- 1:22:09Speaker 9: Snakes are fucking awesome.
- 1:22:12Speaker 7: Snakes don't get a song.
- 1:22:13Speaker 8: Winterbolt never sang a song, did he?
- 1:22:15Speaker 7: No, he didn't, I don't think.
- 1:22:18Speaker 8: That's what made him awesome.
- 1:22:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I guess, because he just kept his mouth shut.
- 1:22:21Speaker 9: Now he was too busy talking shit. Yeah.
- 1:22:24Speaker 8: Shit he couldn't back up, apparently.
- 1:22:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:22:25Speaker 8: A reindeer took him out.
- 1:22:27Speaker 7: But yeah, like the fucking ice cream man, he had
- 1:22:29Speaker 7: to sing a song.
- 1:22:30Speaker 9: All the time.
- 1:22:30Speaker 7: And then he'd sing a song with his girlfriend, and
- 1:22:32Speaker 7: then Frosty had half a fucking billion songs.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:22:37Speaker 7: And if you're snow people, why would you want to
- 1:22:39Speaker 7: go to fucking Florida?
- 1:22:41Speaker 8: California.
- 1:22:42Speaker 7: Oh, they go to California?
- 1:22:43Speaker 8: Yeah, California.
- 1:22:44Speaker 7: I thought they went to Florida.
- 1:22:45Speaker 8: That's where the circus was.
- 1:22:46Speaker 7: Either way, it's someplace sunny, you know? Right on the beach. Yeah,
- 1:22:51Speaker 7: that's a great place for snow people. Fucking idiots.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: And how are there so many magical snowman accessories? I
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: can understand you might luck into one hat. How does
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: this entire fucking family have one magic accessory?
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah. His wife has a magic scarf.
- 1:23:07Speaker 9: Apron.
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: Oh, she has a magic apron.
- 1:23:09Speaker 8: No, no, no. Take that back. It was her hair.
- 1:23:11Speaker 8: She had a mop head.
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: She had a magic mop head.
- 1:23:16Speaker 9: Okay.
- 1:23:17Speaker 7: One son and one daughter. What did they have?
- 1:23:18Speaker 8: One of them had a scarf. One of them had earmuffs.
- 1:23:21Speaker 8: Were you not paying any attention?
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: No, not to them. Because I don't care about snow people.
- 1:23:25Speaker 8: When they had their little melted remains.
- 1:23:27Speaker 7: That was the only part that I found funny. It
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: was when they died. I was like, this is good.
- 1:23:33Speaker 9: Look at that puddle.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Spoiler alert.
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: See, I told you. Don't go to the fucking beach,
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: snow people.
- 1:23:42Speaker 9: I mean, did you learn nothing from the first Frosty special?
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: Act all surprised when they melted and died. They're like, oh.
- 1:23:49Speaker 9: And what you should have learned from Frosty Returns is
- 1:23:51Speaker 9: don't watch Frosty Returns. I like John Goodman, but you
- 1:23:54Speaker 9: cannot save that.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: But you should watch this one just for the what
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: the fuck-edness.
- 1:23:59Speaker 7: Oh my god, so much drugs.
- 1:24:00Speaker 9: This is where we got to. We so didn't like
- 1:24:04Speaker 9: The Town That Dreaded Sundown, we switched to Frosty and
- 1:24:07Speaker 9: Rudolph's freaking 4th of July special.
- 1:24:10Speaker 18: There's probably going to be a lot of people that
- 1:24:12Speaker 18: are really into movies way more than.
- 1:24:16Speaker 7: We are that are going to be like, I can't
- 1:24:18Speaker 7: believe you didn't like that movie.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: This is not going to get anybody to want to
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: join the horror club.
- 1:24:23Speaker 7: Artfully directed.
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: Maybe this one should be a Patreon. Yeah.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Aww.
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: It's the lowbrow horror club.
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: Because they know who we are.
- 1:24:33Speaker 7: Where people just don't.
- 1:24:34Speaker 9: They know our usual attitudes.
- 1:24:36Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:24:37Speaker 13: Wow.
- 1:24:37Speaker 8: Hmm.
- 1:24:39Speaker 9: Maybe we should go back and plug that differently.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: This is not going to sell your horror show.
- 1:24:46Speaker 9: Nope. Oh, well, fuck them. Sad Trumbo.
- 1:24:51Speaker 8: It's going to be my new band name.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Sad Trumbo.
- 1:24:54Speaker 9: Sad Trumbo. And nobody in the band plays a trumbo.
- 1:24:57Speaker 8: Nope.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: I would actually be surprised if there's not a band
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: called Sad Trumbo.
- 1:25:01Speaker 9: There probably has to be.
- 1:25:02Speaker 8: It's probably a hipster band, too.
- 1:25:06Speaker 9: They all just play ukuleles. Well, here we are. So,
- 1:25:13Speaker 9: if you like this movie, I'm sorry. But not that much,
- 1:25:17Speaker 9: because I'm not going to pretend. I don't care if
- 1:25:19Speaker 9: it's well-respected. If I don't respond to it, that's the
- 1:25:22Speaker 9: way it is.
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: I don't know. It seems like one my mom would
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: have really liked.
- 1:25:26Speaker 9: Does it? Yeah, it would move.
- 1:25:28Speaker 8: She liked frogs.
- 1:25:29Speaker 7: It would move at the speed that she would be
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: able to understand.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: No, boyfriend, your mom would have so many questions.
- 1:25:35Speaker 7: Yeah, she would.
- 1:25:37Speaker 9: And she would ask them?
- 1:25:38Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: During the movie. Moms never do that. So our real
- 1:25:44Speaker 9: takeaway is Dawn's awesome. Even in this movie, she is
- 1:25:47Speaker 9: definitely the best part of this movie.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: I'm not arguing there.
- 1:25:51Speaker 9: And yeah, go watch Frosty and Rudolph. So that's our takeaways.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: The fact that I've lived my entire life without knowing
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: it was a thing. I mean, I've watched Rudolph just
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: about every year of my existence.
- 1:26:02Speaker 9: And Die Hard 2. Pretty awesome. Holds up. And a
- 1:26:05Speaker 9: Christmas movie. So save that for your next holiday arguments.
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: But don't try to hook up electronics with a welding torch.
- 1:26:13Speaker 7: Alright.
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: I think we've attacked enough things tonight. We should probably
- 1:26:19Speaker 9: wrap this on up.
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: We should probably wrap it up a long time ago.
- 1:26:22Speaker 9: I gotta take half this to crawl around. I gotta
- 1:26:25Speaker 9: take half this bullshit out. What are you talking about?
- 1:26:28Speaker 8: I don't know. I don't listen. I won't know any difference.
- 1:26:31Speaker 8: That's why I know I can just pull it off.
- 1:26:34Speaker 9: Nobody has to listen to this nonsense.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: Nobody's gonna know about Rudolph and Frosty?
- 1:26:39Speaker 9: Oh no, that's the good part. I'm leaving that in.
- 1:26:41Speaker 9: Definitely leaving that in. All right. Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:26:46Speaker 9: We will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Bye.
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: Bye.
- 1:26:53Speaker 12: Bye.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: Make sure your.
- 1:27:34Speaker 16: Doors and windows are bolted tight before the day is done.
- 1:27:45Speaker 16: To you they will pursue and.
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: They won't stop until the morning comes. See you next time.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Thank you. This is the time, this is the place
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: We are all the time In the shadows.
- 1:29:10Speaker 16: They feed upon your face While you.
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: Are unaware Run back to the safe and sound Put
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: your back and say you're free of the town That
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: dreaded sundown Send your crown This ain't fake, you're strange
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: This ain't your mind, I know it sounds Amish, but
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: it plays Feels good to again stand on solid ground
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: Peace of mind, oh it feels profound No fear, it's
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: crystal clear without the.
- 1:30:52Speaker 9: Doubt See, this is why I told you. Rescue from
- 1:31:04Speaker 9: Gilligan's Island or the castaways on Gilligan's Island. Two other
- 1:31:10Speaker 9: options available. Can't do Harlem Globetrotters. I was right. We've
- 1:31:17Speaker 9: already covered that one.
- 1:31:19Speaker 12: It says that at the time where the guy confesses
- 1:31:21Speaker 12: to five, they're 11-4, so they got the numbers wrong
- 1:31:24Speaker 12: early on.
- 1:31:27Speaker 9: I feel like those cops got a lot of things wrong.
- 1:31:31Speaker 12: Yeah, Eddie LeDoux confessed to the five killings at Texarkana.
- 1:31:34Speaker 12: But by this point in the film, there had only
- 1:31:36Speaker 12: been four murders. Because the fifth one was the guy
- 1:31:38Speaker 12: who was with Don Wells. He hadn't been murdered yet
- 1:31:40Speaker 12: when they say five.
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: No, he was fine because he's all flailing around and...
- 1:31:46Speaker 9: Just because he got shot in the head twice didn't
- 1:31:48Speaker 9: mean that he was dead. Because if so, Don Wells
- 1:31:51Speaker 9: wouldn't have been alive.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: How many times did she get shot in the head?
- 1:31:55Speaker 9: A couple. It's fine.
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: It's a flesh wound.
- 1:31:59Speaker 9: Merely a flesh wound.
