- 0:00Speaker 1: Man, if you don't get chills, there's something wrong with you.
- 0:02Speaker 1: It's one more thing I'm thing, or you're very center state.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to play the new military recruiting ad,
- 0:12Speaker 2: which fits in with our buddy Mike Lions, who said
- 0:16Speaker 2: on our show last year sometime they're talking about recruiting
- 0:21Speaker 2: being way way down, is that they need to bring
- 0:23Speaker 2: back the whole you know, being proud of yourself, be
- 0:26Speaker 2: all you can be. I mean, that's that's what inspired
- 0:29Speaker 2: young men to challenge themselves, not the crap that we're
- 0:32Speaker 2: doing now. But anyway, we'll get to that in a
- 0:34Speaker 2: second before we air that new ad for you.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's been too long since we talked to Mike, by
- 0:40Speaker 1: the way, Yeah right.
- 0:42Speaker 2: We got warn peace going on every freaking day.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And semi war. This from thee.
- 0:50Speaker 2: This is from the New York Post, which New York
- 0:55Speaker 2: Post is a weird newspaper. It's it's everything from completely
- 1:00Speaker 2: laughably stupid to take that with a grain of salt,
- 1:04Speaker 2: to hardcore news reporting nobody else is covering like earth
- 1:10Speaker 2: chattering news that they get right and nobody else does.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Right tough reporting because they don't run with the media
- 1:16Speaker 1: herd in a very admirable way. Plus stewartis fired says
- 1:21Speaker 1: my booves were too big, or or they make a
- 1:25Speaker 1: story out of Internet hates blah blah blah, and they
- 1:28Speaker 1: pick out three tweets and build a story around it.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I wish they wouldn't do that. Lessens the impact of
- 1:37Speaker 1: the real news stories. That way, when they say Hunter
- 1:39Speaker 1: Biden's laptop is real, all the people that dismiss him
- 1:42Speaker 1: as a tabloid get to ignore it. But anyway, I
- 1:44Speaker 1: didn't mean to get on that. We got this headline
- 1:46Speaker 1: from the New York Post three city killing asteroids could
- 1:49Speaker 1: strike Earth within weeks, generating a million times more energy
- 1:53Speaker 1: than the Hiroshima atomic bomb. It's a little misleading in
- 1:59Speaker 1: the headline. While it is true that they could strike
- 2:02Speaker 1: within weeks, they also could strike a year from now
- 2:06Speaker 1: or a thousand years from now. They don't have the
- 2:08Speaker 1: slightest idea, that's the whole point. But in the you
- 2:11Speaker 1: have no idea would include right now or the most
- 2:15Speaker 1: sweet meteors of death. Didn't see that come?
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, this was in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics the
- 2:21Speaker 2: other day. It turns out there's a whole bunch of
- 2:23Speaker 2: asteroids out there that we don't have the ability to
- 2:26Speaker 2: see until they get quite close. And they've just learned
- 2:30Speaker 2: that for a variety of reasons, they're hidden behind other
- 2:33Speaker 2: planets and gravitational this and all kinds of different things.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But we didn't know that we can't see these pretty
- 2:40Speaker 2: decent sized asteroids. They're not giant giant, but they're big
- 2:43Speaker 2: enough they would leave a crater.
- 2:45Speaker 1: We killed them in. We called can I have Take two, Michael?
- 2:49Speaker 1: We call them in viceroids. I'm thinking of a fifties
- 2:52Speaker 1: horror movie, gliban sci fi movie.
- 2:55Speaker 2: The crater would be two miles wide from these size asteroids.
- 2:58Speaker 2: And again if the power of a million times more
- 3:02Speaker 2: energy than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroschma, so not
- 3:06Speaker 2: a minor deal. If it hits Los Angeles, in fact,
- 3:08Speaker 2: it would kill everyone probably well.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Then the shockwave from something that could achieve that level
- 3:14Speaker 1: of destruction would have to level buildings for many, many miles.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So there's no reason to think one's going to hit
- 3:22Speaker 2: like and within a couple of weeks, like the headline suggests.
- 3:24Speaker 2: But there's there's also mathematically no reason that it couldn't
- 3:28Speaker 2: without us seeing it until it was too late. So
- 3:31Speaker 2: that's an interesting development in the world of asteroids.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd say it's hard to know how seriously to
- 3:37Speaker 1: take this, because that's kind of a staple of tabloid
- 3:40Speaker 1: publications and websites and the rest of it is an
- 3:44Speaker 1: asteroid is coming to kill.
- 3:45Speaker 2: You, right, And I got to believe if it was
- 3:48Speaker 2: fairly likely, it would have led other news organizations, as
- 3:51Speaker 2: it would be a pretty big story, right indeed.
- 3:56Speaker 1: But I think we can all agree that a woman
- 3:58Speaker 1: forced to leave her field of employ because their breasts
- 4:01Speaker 1: are just that large is unfortunate and unfair.
- 4:06Speaker 2: So so the Pentagon for quite a few years has
- 4:10Speaker 2: miscalculated in thinking that as they lowered standards and crowed
- 4:18Speaker 2: about lowing standards and became more inclusive to a variety
- 4:21Speaker 2: of lifestyles that would increase recruitment. You've got lower standards
- 4:27Speaker 2: and you're including more people that you used to ban.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It has done the opposite. It has taken a whole
- 4:32Speaker 2: bunch of young men who I mean, this was the
- 4:35Speaker 2: reason I almost I came very very close to joining
- 4:37Speaker 2: the military and high school. I had the recruit at
- 4:39Speaker 2: my house and paperwork holding and as I often say,
- 4:44Speaker 2: I don't even remember why I changed my mind, but
- 4:47Speaker 2: I was going to join the Marine Corps, and it
- 4:49Speaker 2: was all about the challenge of, you know, seeing I could,
- 4:52Speaker 2: if I could do this. It wasn't the oh, I'm
- 4:54Speaker 2: glad they include uh trans people and they've lowered the standards.
- 4:58Speaker 2: That's not what was motivating. It was like I.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Could get to fight alongside a woman with skinny arms
- 5:04Speaker 1: who can't lift anything.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Or everybody can assume I got skinny arms and can't
- 5:09Speaker 2: lift anything because everybody knows the standards are so low. No,
- 5:12Speaker 2: you wanted to come out of the military having, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 2: feeling like a tough guy, and everybody I've ever else
- 5:19Speaker 2: feel like you're a tough guy because you've got to
- 5:20Speaker 2: be tough to do it. You a tough guy, a
- 5:23Speaker 2: strong guy, a resilient guy, all sorts of stuff, right,
- 5:26Speaker 2: And Mike Clins, who's our military analyst, if you don't
- 5:30Speaker 2: know that, said that's what he thought would bring recruiting
- 5:32Speaker 2: numbers back up, making it seem like a challenge to
- 5:35Speaker 2: young men, which.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Brings us to this new commercial video. I guess what's
- 5:42Speaker 1: a commercial these days? It goes viral on the web
- 5:44Speaker 1: and people see it, so nobody's buying sixty second spots
- 5:48Speaker 1: for this. Everybody who's watching it because they want to,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but it was recently put out by the Pentagon. You
- 5:53Speaker 1: will recognize the voices of Pete Hegxeth and Donald Trump
- 5:56Speaker 1: in particular. It's ninety seconds long. The visuals are terrific.
- 6:04Speaker 1: It is as you would expect, men of action and
- 6:09Speaker 1: high training and capability using the very most awesome, cool
- 6:13Speaker 1: and advanced tools of war, from attack helicopters to night
- 6:19Speaker 1: vision gear. Some great pictures of training. It's really beautifully produced.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Visually speaking, here's the audio.
- 6:31Speaker 3: No more distraction, no more electric tanks, no more gender confusion,
- 6:39Speaker 3: no more climate change worship. We are laser focused on
- 6:44Speaker 3: our mission of war five.
- 6:49Speaker 4: We will measure our success not only by the battles
- 6:53Speaker 4: we win, but also by the wars we end, and
- 6:56Speaker 4: perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into. It
- 7:00Speaker 4: go peace through strength.
- 7:03Speaker 3: You look into the eyes of these young Americans who
- 7:05Speaker 3: are giving up the best years of their lives in
- 7:07Speaker 3: a uniform to.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Serve their nation. They are incredible.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Through our power and might, we will leave the world
- 7:16Speaker 4: to peace. Our friends will respect us, our enemies will
- 7:20Speaker 4: fear us, and the whole world will admire the unrivaled
- 7:23Speaker 4: greatness of the United States military. We will replenish the
- 7:38Speaker 4: pride of our armed forces and the recruitment crisis.
- 7:43Speaker 3: We don't fight because we hate what's in front of us.
- 7:47Speaker 2: We fight because we love less behind us.
- 7:51Speaker 4: God bless you, God bless our enforce, You, God bless
- 7:55Speaker 4: our men and women serving overseas, and God bless the
- 7:59Speaker 4: United States.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I've act.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Much more likely to recruit a young man who doesn't
- 8:05Speaker 2: know what he's doesn't know what his plans are for
- 8:08Speaker 2: the future than the other approach without a doubt.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, by Miles and Miles and Miles. It
- 8:21Speaker 1: wasn't Churchill, and it might have been Orwell who said
- 8:24Speaker 1: something similar. But people sleep peaceably in their beds at
- 8:27Speaker 1: night because rough men stand ready to do violence on
- 8:30Speaker 1: their behalf. Not We'll take anybody and you can see
- 8:35Speaker 1: interesting places. Right. It didn't work. It's terrible, it's stupid,
- 8:40Speaker 1: it's woke.
- 8:41Speaker 2: My thirteen year old's pretty hell bent on joining the military.
- 8:44Speaker 2: But he's thirteen, and I know, you know, based on
- 8:47Speaker 2: my story, can change your mind many times before you
- 8:50Speaker 2: get to grown up age. But I highly encourage him.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I think it's a great path. My brother, his uncle
- 9:00Speaker 2: made a career out of it. My son, my thirteen
- 9:02Speaker 2: year old, who is I've talked about this on the
- 9:04Speaker 2: air a lot. He's he's been like a thirty year
- 9:06Speaker 2: old his whole life. He always has been. And I'm
- 9:09Speaker 2: not the only one who says that. Every doctor, therapy, teacher,
- 9:13Speaker 2: everybody says he's like talking to a grown up. I know,
- 9:15Speaker 2: I don't know why he's that way, but anyway, his
- 9:18Speaker 2: thing is when I after twenty years, you retire with
- 9:22Speaker 2: the pension, I'll only be thirty eight. I'll have my
- 9:24Speaker 2: whole life out of me. That's not the way I
- 9:26Speaker 2: looked at thirty eight when I was a kid. Thirty
- 9:28Speaker 2: eight was you might as well be seventy eight, right,
- 9:30Speaker 2: But that's his the way he looks at it. So whatever, Yeah, yeah, amazing,
- 9:35Speaker 2: but that is true. You put in twenty years in
- 9:38Speaker 2: the military and then get a decent sized check in
- 9:41Speaker 2: healthcare the rest of your life. You're thirty eight freaking
- 9:44Speaker 2: years old. You can do anything at that point.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, you're a young man, you know. My
- 9:50Speaker 1: final note is, and this is with all respect and
- 9:55Speaker 1: admiration to folks who serve in our military. Whether he
- 9:59Speaker 1: does that or not, we're called to serve our country.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Some of them with a uniform on, some with not,
- 10:07Speaker 1: some without that, some are not wearing one. Think about
- 10:11Speaker 1: how you can think about what blows you can strike
- 10:15Speaker 1: for truth justice in the American way.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You should create an ad around that. That's pretty good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: It has the time. Nice job Pete, Hegseth and company though,
- 10:28Speaker 1: for putting that ad together. Pete. Pete is not a
- 10:31Speaker 1: perfect guy, but by god, he's got that part of
- 10:34Speaker 1: it right.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Well, I guess that's it.
