- 5:26Speaker 1: Like as far as starts and starts starting, you know
- 5:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying, I would be I would say this,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Chris Brown is by far the closest thing to Michael Ja. Absolutely,
- 5:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And if you had to
- 5:37Speaker 1: have a Michael in hip hop, Yeah, I was wild
- 5:43Speaker 1: and I always admit I want to be Drake.
- 5:48Speaker 6: I'll step in now. See see you just talking about stardom.

- 6:36Speaker 1: even posted to go nothing like.
- 6:38Speaker 3: That was not real.
- 6:39Speaker 1: If somebody, if you have to pick somebody that could
- 6:42Speaker 1: be close to Mike vocal, who would you pick? Male
- 6:44Speaker 1: or female? Because I think it's for me. It's only
- 6:46Speaker 1: one female that I can think that's closer to Mike
- 6:48Speaker 1: and vocals.
- 6:49Speaker 3: You're gonna say, Whitning Houston.
- 6:50Speaker 1: That's it. Yeah, that's it. Bro.
- 6:52Speaker 3: We locked in.
- 6:56Speaker 5: We had Joe Button on the podcast. He said, you

- 7:04Speaker 1: Shout out Drake, shout out Mike.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Make it so funny, you know what i'maying. We' from Indiana.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So for you to make that type with the two
- 7:08Speaker 2: one nine.
- 7:09Speaker 1: They was hot. Oh yeah, everybody who is the biggest rappit.
- 7:13Speaker 2: From and then gives so far we don't have Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: he dropping the products Gibbs too.
- 7:21Speaker 6: I want to I want to go back to the
- 7:24Speaker 6: you know what I mean to the beginning, Poor Arthur sir,
- 7:27Speaker 6: who put the pill in your hands like when you
- 7:29Speaker 6: pick it up and frond a love for it.
- 7:31Speaker 3: So I grew up and put out the texts a
- 7:33Speaker 3: small town.
- 7:33Speaker 1: All my family worked the refinery, so I grew up
- 7:36Speaker 1: on the west side of my All my uncles, my cousin,
- 7:38Speaker 1: they all played basketball and the protect. You know, football
- 7:40Speaker 1: is big on Fridays, but when football is over, it's
- 7:43Speaker 1: that same energy transfers to basketball. So on Friday nights.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Growing up, there was one high school that we all
- 7:48Speaker 1: grew up went to. It's called Lincol High School. Everybody
- 7:50Speaker 1: have a Lincol High School and they used to win
- 7:53Speaker 1: state championships and grow up. So growing up I used
- 7:55Speaker 1: to watch them and go watch them play. So it
- 7:58Speaker 1: just I inherited from my uncles and cousins. But at
- 8:02Speaker 1: five years old, that's when they all knew I was good.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I had forty two points. I had forty points in
- 8:06Speaker 1: the forty two point game, and uh, yeah, I.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Say how many assistans?
- 8:13Speaker 1: No, I didn't know what. I didn't know what it
- 8:17Speaker 1: was back there, but five years old, forty points, we
- 8:21Speaker 1: had forty two another kid that he scored on the
- 8:24Speaker 1: other two. And after that game, I start getting treated different,
- 8:27Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, by coaches, by my uncles,
- 8:29Speaker 1: by everybody. And uh, I didn't know I had it
- 8:32Speaker 1: at the time. I just thought I was just taller
- 8:33Speaker 1: and I was more athletic. But that's when it started.
- 8:35Speaker 6: At uh damn, my memory kicking in a little bit
- 8:39Speaker 6: ninety five. Did y'all want to you led them to
- 8:41Speaker 6: the chip at Lincoln.
- 8:42Speaker 3: High School state championship?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:43Speaker 6: That was your junior year, My junior year. Okay, how
- 8:47Speaker 6: was that? I want another question though, to just two part,
- 8:49Speaker 6: like I want you to talk about that. But is
- 8:51Speaker 6: it any other pros that come from Lincoln?
- 8:54Speaker 1: No, so BJ Tyler had a two year stint. He
- 8:57Speaker 1: would up going to Texas. Yeah, and he had a
- 9:00Speaker 1: two extent, but nobody. The crazy part about it is
- 9:04Speaker 1: is a town that's fifteen minutes away called Baumba, Texas,
- 9:07Speaker 1: and the high school coach I had at the year.
- 9:10Speaker 1: We want to state championship. Ended up getting another kid
- 9:14Speaker 1: that ended up going to high going out of high
- 9:15Speaker 1: school as well, and ended and went in the state
- 9:17Speaker 1: championship as well, Kendrick Perkins. So we got the same
- 9:20Speaker 1: high school coach, you, Yeah, we got the same time.
- 9:22Speaker 6: I'm talking about Kendrick dribbling down the street and at thirteen,
- 9:27Speaker 6: when he was sixteen fifteen, he was that big, but
- 9:30Speaker 6: he was getting it off the rim and bringing it
- 9:32Speaker 6: up like he had all that before he got the
- 9:34Speaker 6: Boston Now he had all that.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Bro Now I remember him with the unclean soldier. Him
- 9:38Speaker 1: and Borrow linked up as you like, Nah, he went
- 9:40Speaker 1: to the hospital. You got it. You gotta be nice.
- 9:43Speaker 3: So you just you just hoopedush your guys at Lincoln.
- 9:45Speaker 1: We don't want the chip, but yeah, like we had
- 9:48Speaker 1: the guys I played with. We've been knowing each other
- 9:50Speaker 1: from elementary all the way to high school. So leaving
- 9:53Speaker 1: them my SENI my senior year was something I didn't
- 9:55Speaker 1: want to do. What made coach Smith come grab you?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Well?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Josh Passler up being the coach for Memphis and Georgia Tech.
- 10:02Speaker 1: He was my AU coach. He was the same angor
- 10:03Speaker 1: as accident. Yeah, coach. That's crazy.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he was our coach.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Bro. He drove to my hometown. Let me till I
- 10:10Speaker 1: met Josh. So I was killing Texas basketball, but I
- 10:13Speaker 1: wasn't ranked too high. So he drove to my hometown
- 10:16Speaker 1: in the middle of the ghetto during the daytime where
- 10:17Speaker 1: it's crack being so nigga smoking all kind of shaft.
- 10:20Speaker 1: He pulls up by himself. Everybody back. I think it's
- 10:23Speaker 1: the police, like who are you looking for? And he
- 10:25Speaker 1: caused my name, So I'm like, I don't know. You
- 10:28Speaker 1: don't put me on the blast in front of the homies,
- 10:30Speaker 1: like you know what I'm saying. And he was like, nah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: my name is Josh Passler. I go to Kingwood to
- 10:33Speaker 1: have my own age.
- 10:34Speaker 3: How old are you?
- 10:35Speaker 1: Brothers, Like, I'm seventeen. Told me as AU team wanted
- 10:38Speaker 1: me to come play on this team. I'm like, Bro,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I ain't got no money, ain't no car, I can't
- 10:40Speaker 1: get to Houston. He drove Bro three times a week
- 10:43Speaker 1: from Houston, which is I wouldn't have picking me up.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I would have back to practice and I won't have
- 10:49Speaker 1: back then I won't have back to go to school.
- 10:51Speaker 1: The next day. He did this shit three times a
- 10:53Speaker 1: week just so I can have a chance to play
- 10:55Speaker 1: AAU basketball. And his dad had a relationship with he
- 10:59Speaker 1: worked for red He was a big wig in the
- 11:01Speaker 1: Red Cross and he had a relationship with Steve Smith.
- 11:04Speaker 1: So he started coming at AAU games. And Uh, I
- 11:07Speaker 1: remember trying out. This is the school year finish start,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and I'm on the football field running trying to for football.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I'm running routes. Got to pass on. I ain't thinking
- 11:13Speaker 1: about basketball yet. My mom coaching, my uncle come around
- 11:16Speaker 1: the corner. I'm like, ah, Ship, this can't be good.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Like take that shit off. You're going to Okill. I'm
- 11:22Speaker 1: going to Okill for what I want to we can
- 11:24Speaker 1: go back to back. I'm trying to say, like, nah,
- 11:26Speaker 1: your ass stay here, You're going to jail. You know
- 11:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Cause I stayed in trouble. I stayed
- 11:29Speaker 1: in trouble around that time, so I didn't see what
- 11:32Speaker 1: they was doing for me at the time.
- 11:33Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I was hard, heited, I wanted to be home with
- 11:35Speaker 1: my friends, and uh, sending me okay was the best
- 11:37Speaker 1: thing that ever happened to me. That's crazy.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And we just had to move on saying, I know
- 11:43Speaker 2: we had a little bit of this conversation with who
- 11:45Speaker 2: your top five? You know, so who y'all started five?
- 11:46Speaker 1: You're taking oak Hill, Brandon Jennings, Okay, DJ at the one,
- 11:55Speaker 1: Rondo m hm, I'm sorry. I got to go small
- 11:58Speaker 1: BJ Ronald because they were just that good when it
- 12:00Speaker 1: was there. We're talking about Ed Okill, Yes, sir, h Nello,
- 12:07Speaker 1: Josh k d tough, that's that's crazy five.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I got to give you on though. Was the problem
- 12:18Speaker 3: too nasty Tripp monster.
- 12:25Speaker 4: And it's quite as kept he don't get spoken on that.
- 12:27Speaker 4: But no one was killed out there too.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Nolan is a winner, Yes, sir, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Nolan is a winner.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Shout. I know, none as the one. You know, even
- 12:34Speaker 1: that dude, he brought the winning field. No, just a winner,
- 12:36Speaker 1: but he was solid.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Sure, we got to talk about it, man. One of
- 12:39Speaker 2: our favorite o gs, Mike Bibbie, that's my real brother.
- 12:43Speaker 1: That was when I first got my rookie year. He
- 12:48Speaker 1: was out.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Oh my god, people in the world.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Bro Let me let me tell you how close me
- 12:55Speaker 1: and Mike is. I My wife talked about natuation when
- 12:59Speaker 1: that I had it was end up getting married and
- 13:01Speaker 1: end up calling the wedding off at the right you
- 13:03Speaker 1: read to start because my wife was signed to my
- 13:06Speaker 1: fiance at the time, was signing the prenup and I
- 13:08Speaker 1: was hurt at the time, I was crying. Afterwards, I
- 13:10Speaker 1: was hurt because then all this stuff, my family was there.
- 13:12Speaker 3: It was just a lot on me.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Mike Mom came and wiped snock from my nose and
- 13:17Speaker 1: from my face with a bad hands and told me
- 13:20Speaker 1: I became a man. That That's when I knew she
- 13:22Speaker 1: she really loved me. So for his mama to do
- 13:24Speaker 1: that to me, I let y'all know how tight we are.
- 13:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying That his mama is really
- 13:28Speaker 1: the reason why I made it to the NBA.
- 13:29Speaker 3: That's real. That's hard, bro. How did I even link
- 13:32Speaker 3: up though?
- 13:32Speaker 1: Like so high school, we both signed with Arizona, so
- 13:38Speaker 1: we both was going we had the number of recruiting
- 13:39Speaker 1: class that year, and the first semester I actually stayed
- 13:42Speaker 1: with him on campus because I couldn't pass the test.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I I wudn't even going to the I wasn't even
- 13:46Speaker 1: going actually to take it. I was just like, I'm
- 13:48Speaker 1: they're gonna have to just give me the grade or something,
- 13:51Speaker 1: And I took the tests a couple of times and
- 13:53Speaker 1: still couldn't pass it. Where I end up after the
- 13:56Speaker 1: first semester, they had to kick me off campus. So
- 14:00Speaker 1: his mo mom had got together, was like, he can't
- 14:01Speaker 1: come back to put on like that, that ain't it? Like,
- 14:04Speaker 1: So she my mama, let me stay with her and
- 14:07Speaker 1: I worked out with his older brother Dane. They was
- 14:09Speaker 1: taking me to workout every day. And one morning she
- 14:12Speaker 1: woke me up like get your shoes, and Dange wasn't there,
- 14:14Speaker 1: so I'm like, what're we going? So like just get
- 14:15Speaker 1: your shoes and we in the car. She ended up
- 14:18Speaker 1: driving me to the Phoenix Sons Arena where they play
- 14:20Speaker 1: it now, and we walked them. I'm looking at her
- 14:22Speaker 1: like because when we drive in, like she didn't have
- 14:25Speaker 1: to say a name to you know, normally you got
- 14:27Speaker 1: to have a pass up. She just waved out and I'm.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Like, yeah, poor like that his motherfucker my hard.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So we come down and pull and she know
- 14:35Speaker 1: she had had already talked to Danny Ainge and to
- 14:38Speaker 1: bring me down there to play pickup, and Jason Kidd
- 14:41Speaker 1: immediately embraced me. He ended up picking moments team and
- 14:44Speaker 1: that's when I was young, So I was catching lives
- 14:46Speaker 1: and all kinds of shit. I was going crazy in there.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Off high. I was high, and all that going I was.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I was wrong. And after I played, Danny ain't told
- 14:56Speaker 1: me that they had they had one pick in the
- 14:57Speaker 1: draft of the second to the last pick, but the
- 15:00Speaker 1: roster was full. But they're like, you know you played
- 15:02Speaker 1: well up today that we're gonna draft you and guarantee
- 15:04Speaker 1: you twenty fifty thousand, but we're gonna see you the CBA. Nigga,
- 15:07Speaker 1: I was drafted. In my mind, I'm in the league.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I didn't you get damn fifty thousand. All that Nigga's good,
- 15:11Speaker 1: let's go, you know what I'm saying. But once you
- 15:13Speaker 1: get in the dough, you notice tm J T. Once
- 15:15Speaker 1: you get in the dough, you good. And I got drafted.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I bounced overseas, but my name was in that system.
- 15:20Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. For getting drafted, that's all
- 15:22Speaker 1: I needed. And that all the Mike to Mike Mom, that's.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Dope, bro. I didn't know. Danna Angel said boss too.
- 15:28Speaker 1: That's one of the people I fried. You know, you
- 15:33Speaker 1: don't like to talk about it because you keep saying
- 15:34Speaker 1: we was on the same teams, like.
- 15:35Speaker 3: That's god man, But I fried, Like.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I feel like they said said if I didn't, I said,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I fried everybody else.
- 15:43Speaker 3: That was there.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my dog, that's my dog. I had a
- 15:49Speaker 1: great day that day. I was young and hunger. I
- 15:51Speaker 1: had a great day that day. That's hard bro a
- 15:53Speaker 1: great day. How was that?
- 15:54Speaker 3: Overseas stint though? Like, where'd you go?
- 15:56Speaker 1: First? I went to I went to Venezuela. First, tell
- 16:00Speaker 1: you about my first day of Venezuela, which is crazy.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I get there automatically didn't go because you know, I've
- 16:05Speaker 1: never been out the country, being up a small time
- 16:07Speaker 1: and put off that. I like, I'm you're going to
- 16:09Speaker 1: Venezuela fresh out of high school, played basketball like my
- 16:12Speaker 1: mom was terrified. I get there the first day. They
- 16:14Speaker 1: picked me up and uh, they take me straight to practice.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And it's like a bridge probably like a mile ahead
- 16:19Speaker 1: of us. So now when we get to come around
- 16:21Speaker 1: the corner's the bridge is traffic. So everybody going slow.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So he he trying to figure out why is the traffic.
- 16:26Speaker 1: When we get to under bridge, it's a fourteen year old,
- 16:29Speaker 1: this small kid by fourteen fishes old land on the
- 16:30Speaker 1: ground here, just jumped off the bridge. That's my first
- 16:32Speaker 1: day up. So I'm looking out the window seeing the
- 16:34Speaker 1: dead body. My first day in Venezuela. Damn. I'm like,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I'm like, I can't tell you. I'm not gonna take
- 16:39Speaker 1: this ship. I can't.
- 16:40Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. Call my ma, Mama, my mama.
- 16:43Speaker 1: G I'm like, Mama, as soon as I'll tell everything
- 16:45Speaker 1: I see, I'm like, I ain't even do that. She's like,
- 16:47Speaker 1: so what you're gonna come what You're gonna come back
- 16:49Speaker 1: home and do the ain't gonna be in miles you look.
- 16:53Speaker 3: So I'm like, damn, I.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Can't. I was. I was the food. I was bro
- 17:01Speaker 1: bro to be honest, I ode ill served at the
- 17:05Speaker 1: age of seventeen twice before I got to Mike sou
- 17:08Speaker 1: I was so I needed a lot of change.
- 17:10Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, A lot.
- 17:11Speaker 1: That's why I credit so many people, you know what
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm saying in my life because if I didn't have
- 17:16Speaker 1: all these people, I wouldn't be here right now. Real
- 17:18Speaker 1: yeah story right there.
- 17:19Speaker 3: So So when you actually got on the court, that
- 17:22Speaker 3: is crazy.
- 17:23Speaker 1: How was that though, and Venezuela was cool because you know,
- 17:27Speaker 1: I was playing basketball, I was making money. I wasn't
- 17:29Speaker 1: making much, you know what I'm saying. I wasn't with
- 17:31Speaker 1: my wife then, but I made thirty thousand dollars. The
- 17:33Speaker 1: women were so beautiful, and Venezuela I left all my
- 17:35Speaker 1: money that was doing.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I'm just keeping it.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I had never been out of the country, and you
- 17:41Speaker 1: take a little ghetto nigga from put Out bringing to
- 17:43Speaker 1: Venezuela where they breathed Miss Americas. You know what I'm saying,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I lost it. I don't keep poting. I lost. I
- 17:48Speaker 1: probably came back to like eight dollars, ten dollars. I
- 17:51Speaker 1: lived it all there, you know what I'm saying. A
- 17:53Speaker 1: brick of weed that had they say your brickle weed
- 17:55Speaker 1: had seeds in it. It was, but you like two
- 17:57Speaker 1: hundred dollars. So I was getting the chicken. I had
- 18:00Speaker 1: had to give me a pack of new Ports a box,
- 18:02Speaker 1: put all the cigarette the tobacco, and stuffed the weed
- 18:04Speaker 1: and all of them.
- 18:05Speaker 3: So I had packed some cigarettes. But when it was
- 18:07Speaker 3: all weed.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So I was enjoying myself out there. I was eighteen nineteen.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I didn't know what to do. I wasn't thinking about
- 18:12Speaker 1: saving no money and going home, nothing like that.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Bro.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It was. It was a great experience, but my mind
- 18:17Speaker 1: still was like, if I'm having fun here, imagine what
- 18:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna have when I get to the league. Bro.
- 18:22Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 18:23Speaker 5: If I can enjoy this, I can enjoy anything. So
- 18:26Speaker 5: that's how I feel when I first went to Miami. Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 5: I ain't going back to now.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I've heard a lot with oh No and you. Joe
- 18:42Speaker 1: just the best, said Lord, I like this stuff.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Overseas.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I've been bens wading for six months. I played two
- 18:53Speaker 1: years in Dominican Public Dominican Republic, won the championship there,
- 18:56Speaker 1: played in Australia, broke my foot in Australia, and show
- 19:00Speaker 1: France for like two weeks. I couldn't stand it because
- 19:02Speaker 1: the smell and they just they just wasn't taking care
- 19:05Speaker 1: of themselves, you know what I'm saying, Like the gym,
- 19:08Speaker 1: all that stuff like it wasn't something I wanted to
- 19:09Speaker 1: be a part of.
- 19:10Speaker 6: I was that transition from you know, the overseas world.
- 19:14Speaker 6: Now you I don't want to mess it up like
- 19:17Speaker 6: I think he went to New Jersey first. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 6: so you went straight to New Jersey. How was that
- 19:22Speaker 6: like transition?
- 19:23Speaker 3: Well for me, I broke both of my feet.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Uh. The second time I broke my foot, I was
- 19:29Speaker 1: was the last day of cuts for the Bulls, and
- 19:31Speaker 1: I made the team. Like I went from not being
- 19:34Speaker 1: on the having a pinion in the Pendy Jersey to
- 19:38Speaker 1: the last day I got on the purple I mean
- 19:40Speaker 1: the regulationship.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Like, you know what I'm saying, I'm with the starters.
- 19:43Speaker 1: So when if you went the starters last day when
- 19:45Speaker 1: they got two people making the team, you basically know
- 19:47Speaker 1: you're making the team.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Broke my foot the day of last cuts, going for
- 19:51Speaker 1: a leg, broke my foot, called my mama again, but
- 19:54Speaker 1: this time I was crying like a little bit to
- 19:56Speaker 1: my ball and like maybe this ain't it.
- 19:59Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I broke both my feet, like going through all the ship,
- 20:01Speaker 1: maybe I gotta do something else. And it wasn't nothing
- 20:03Speaker 1: else for me to do because I wasn't smart, you
- 20:05Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I wasn't prepared to go to
- 20:07Speaker 1: school and get a job and those ship like that.
- 20:09Speaker 1: She's like, so what you're gonna do. You're gonna come home,
- 20:11Speaker 1: You're gonna heal up, and you're gonna get back out there. Mama,
- 20:15Speaker 1: she wouldn't let me sit in that ship.
- 20:17Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 20:18Speaker 1: She wouldn't let me sit in that ship, even though
- 20:20Speaker 1: she was hurt too, because she she's seen it on
- 20:22Speaker 1: me like I was dead though, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I was there, bro, I feel to make the team.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I'm here. All the hardwork is over.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I made it and that ship happened the day of
- 20:29Speaker 1: and uh I was devastated for a while.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Bri, I ain't gonna lie. I stayed home.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I had to play basketball for like eight months, didn't
- 20:35Speaker 1: do nothing, and I didn't think I you know, I
- 20:37Speaker 1: didn'tink I ever play again.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Okay, crazy, you gotta go.
- 20:42Speaker 5: You go from that feeling to being the NBA champions.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Them they're crazy though, So what made you start hooping again?
- 20:49Speaker 5: Like obviously he said your mom was pushing you.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Well, I got an opportunity to play summer League with Vancouver.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I got opportunity to play Mike.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Mike came went to Vancouver, and uh I went out
- 21:00Speaker 1: that with Mike and I ended up playing some league
- 21:01Speaker 1: with them, and I was busting Sharip abdu Ram, that's
- 21:05Speaker 1: my boy. I was.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I was hungry, bro. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I was hungry.
- 21:09Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I was. I was hungry. And I was out there shining, shining, shining,
- 21:13Speaker 1: preseason shine and practice shining. And they cut me.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I'm like, God, damn, I'm like what I got to
- 21:20Speaker 3: do about?
- 21:20Speaker 1: Like it? Is it? I'm starting to learn the game too, though,
- 21:23Speaker 1: the posess, the political side of basketball.
- 21:25Speaker 3: It ain't about how good you is. You know what
- 21:27Speaker 3: I'm saying.
- 21:28Speaker 1: You got to fit in with You got to fit
- 21:29Speaker 1: in with the team, and they want you to buy in.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I wasn't buying inn the ship at that time.
- 21:33Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I was.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I wasn't coachable and none of that.
- 21:35Speaker 3: I was just raw.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Give me the ball, get out the way, let me
- 21:38Speaker 1: compete against my man. You know what I'm saying. I
- 21:40Speaker 1: didn't know how to run plays, none of that shit.
- 21:42Speaker 1: So so they was right for to be keep me punking.
- 21:45Speaker 1: They was right for cutting me because I was just
- 21:46Speaker 1: a raw basketball player. I was. I didn't know how
- 21:48Speaker 1: to play the game yet. You know what I'm saying,
- 21:50Speaker 1: but as time passed, I played in summer League with
- 21:53Speaker 1: a couple other teams, and I ended up getting an
- 21:56Speaker 1: invite to camp with New Jersey And that's all because
- 21:59Speaker 1: Steph Marberry and King Martin. Yeah, I ended up going
- 22:03Speaker 1: up to preach the pre camp and I ended up
- 22:04Speaker 1: playing Steph and King. King got the drafted number one
- 22:07Speaker 1: that year, and they came and watched his practicing, like
- 22:10Speaker 1: bringing the camp. The byron was asking to bring him
- 22:12Speaker 1: the camp and men Ken he birol the number. Me
- 22:15Speaker 1: and Keen I already knew each other, and being from Texas,
- 22:17Speaker 1: King just wasn't he Keen lead. I think he's a
- 22:19Speaker 1: year younger than me. He had an injury. He had
- 22:21Speaker 1: an injury going into that year, so he broke his foot.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He broke his foot, still got drafted number one, and
- 22:26Speaker 1: that's why he went plus why he wont practicing. So
- 22:28Speaker 1: but anyway, they got me in and once I got in,
- 22:31Speaker 1: you know, I just yeah, yeah, everything worked out for me.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I had number one. You got the number one pick
- 22:35Speaker 1: and the starting point guard on your side. You know
- 22:37Speaker 1: what I'm saying, It's kind of hard to.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Go who shows in the roads. What was that vent
- 22:40Speaker 3: that grabs you.
- 22:41Speaker 1: It was it was stuff. So you know, me being
- 22:43Speaker 1: from Texas, we used to have the starch down pants,
- 22:45Speaker 1: but with a bitches can stand up. He was on
- 22:47Speaker 1: the pocket.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Ship kick.
- 22:52Speaker 1: It did that.
- 22:54Speaker 6: You you went to some workout and did you go
- 22:57Speaker 6: somebody in New York and said you was in the
- 22:59Speaker 6: gym and like literally took your fans off falls.
- 23:02Speaker 3: It's like set them up. They really stood up like Harton.
- 23:07Speaker 1: So I told you, so, look, I'm getting ready to
- 23:10Speaker 1: come in the draft. This is this. I knew what
- 23:12Speaker 1: I knew. Face was drafting me and they flew me
- 23:14Speaker 1: out to New Jersey to work out in New Jersey
- 23:17Speaker 1: gym with this guy name I forgot his name, but
- 23:19Speaker 1: he was working out our handthm time. This is my
- 23:21Speaker 1: first time meeting now was like set sixteen seventeen. Be'st
- 23:24Speaker 1: niggas the biggest dude I've ever seen in my life.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I'm like this nigga in high school and.
- 23:30Speaker 1: We ended up working out together. He actually work out
- 23:32Speaker 1: with him. So I wasn't planning on working out. So
- 23:33Speaker 1: I had on some jeans. I told you who takes,
- 23:35Speaker 1: So my shit was starched down talking about I pulled
- 23:38Speaker 1: them business off and just stood them up.
- 23:44Speaker 4: I showed him.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I showed him to practice one day and Steph was like,
- 23:47Speaker 1: oh now, oh now a nigga. Steph took me. This
- 23:50Speaker 1: is a true story. Steph took me, brought me an
- 23:53Speaker 1: escalade this when Esclades first came out. Bought me like
- 23:56Speaker 1: ten pass of Tims baggy jeans. He brought me the
- 23:59Speaker 1: whole swagh. He like, man, take that shot off. He
- 24:01Speaker 1: made me take my jeans off and left and they
- 24:03Speaker 1: threw them in the trash. Win'm on state flow jeans
- 24:08Speaker 1: out here. I'm like, sh that's ship since we're.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Here, because I ain't gonna ain't gonna front. I used
- 24:13Speaker 3: to start my ship, okay, real ship, though I should.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Never stood how the fun was putting in the cleaners
- 24:26Speaker 1: and and you say heavy starts, you want heavy starts,
- 24:31Speaker 1: so start.
- 24:32Speaker 3: You can see the iron print on the business.
- 24:33Speaker 1: You just that just how we did it out next,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't want with the night back in the day
- 24:43Speaker 1: off the way from you had jeans on, you flipped
- 24:45Speaker 1: the bottom.
- 24:46Speaker 3: You flipped the bottom.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Yeah that you got it. And then your pass too
- 24:51Speaker 1: big hit with this one? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was
- 25:03Speaker 1: the one.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, I remember that story. Y'all got it though.

- 26:22Speaker 1: When you get to Jersey, you start playing, like what's
- 26:24Speaker 1: that year for? You? Were like switch because the Stephen
- 26:27Speaker 1: Jackson I know, I don't. I don't remember Jersey and stuff.
- 26:29Speaker 5: I know you from Fivecats, Yeah, from Golden State, you
- 26:34Speaker 5: know the spursanship of me was the guy the bodcast because.
- 26:37Speaker 1: You was averaging twenty you was cooking. But when was
- 26:40Speaker 1: that year? If you were a click? But see that's
- 26:41Speaker 1: that's the difference. You play the game. You know the game.
- 26:44Speaker 1: If I would agree with you, because that was my
- 26:45Speaker 1: best year.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that was my best years playing basketball.
- 26:48Speaker 1: But New Jersey it clicked because when I got there
- 26:51Speaker 1: byron On was fucking with me and I ended up
- 26:53Speaker 1: starting my first first game of season. I ended up starting,
- 26:55Speaker 1: I end up making it I end up making a
- 26:57Speaker 1: Rookie All Star Game. I'm leading all rookies in storing,
- 27:01Speaker 1: even the number one pick that's on my team. I'm
- 27:03Speaker 1: leading all scoring going into the Rookie game. I come
- 27:05Speaker 1: back from the Rookie game, I don't play no mo
- 27:07Speaker 1: the rest of the season. Why do you think that
- 27:09Speaker 1: I have no idea? So for me, this is what
- 27:11Speaker 1: I think. So Byron had a son named Thomas Scott
- 27:16Speaker 1: that was the same age of me, and he was
- 27:18Speaker 1: there around the time, so I hung with him. I
- 27:19Speaker 1: was the youngest of him, so I hung with him
- 27:20Speaker 1: a lot, and his wife basically treated me like a son.
- 27:25Speaker 1: So I don't know if he thought that I was
- 27:27Speaker 1: hitting on his wife or something like that, but that's
- 27:29Speaker 1: that's the only thing I could think of, because that
- 27:32Speaker 1: the animosity that he showed to just stop playing me
- 27:36Speaker 1: with no kind of excuse, you know what. I don't
- 27:38Speaker 1: even talk to me about it, Like I thought it
- 27:40Speaker 1: had to be personal, you know what I'm saying. And
- 27:42Speaker 1: his wife was just she was a mother to me
- 27:45Speaker 1: because I was still young and she felt like I
- 27:46Speaker 1: needed some guys, and my mom appreciated. But I think
- 27:49Speaker 1: he took it the wrong way okay, yeah, because.
- 27:53Speaker 4: I got a story about when we play. You played
- 27:55Speaker 4: on the podcast.
- 27:55Speaker 5: I'm gonna let you get to that because you want
- 27:57Speaker 5: a championship with the Spurs, so you know when you
- 28:01Speaker 5: were rookie, you're gonna play. Well, I didn't play, so
- 28:04Speaker 5: I'm talking at the end of the bench, so I
- 28:06Speaker 5: just yelled ship out. I can't remember who the point
- 28:07Speaker 5: guard with your team was. I think it might have
- 28:09Speaker 5: been light He went he went to.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The basketball t was like, hell no, and he looks.
- 28:17Speaker 1: He looked at the intern shut your ass up. But
- 28:20Speaker 1: I'm laughing because now I got I got him start
- 28:22Speaker 1: like I'm getting under your skin. I can't play that
- 28:26Speaker 1: when I'm.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Mad, I can't play up.
- 28:29Speaker 1: So I'm like, I'm gonna keep talking.
- 28:31Speaker 5: So next time he comes he comes to the sideline,
- 28:34Speaker 5: I say something else like that ship off. He would us,
- 28:37Speaker 5: you know, talking ship but they starting knowing me and ship.
- 28:40Speaker 5: So now I'm standing up doing all the antique something
- 28:42Speaker 5: I ain't playing.
- 28:43Speaker 1: So I'm trying to entertain myself. Really, So it gets
- 28:45Speaker 1: to the last shot of the game, right.
- 28:47Speaker 3: One of the best storytellers, this nigga.
- 28:49Speaker 1: So he got the wall on the wing bar bench.
- 28:52Speaker 1: So I'm like, mom, like, mo wk that ship up? Man,
- 28:57Speaker 1: he's Jack. Jack won dribble right hit the game winner.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I think you on the stands right on the stairs.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, she was about to come from me.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I ran to the back of the locker room. I
- 29:14Speaker 1: was like, watch I come back out and shut the fuck.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I ain't gonna say that. That was my only game
- 29:22Speaker 1: winn in my career, was the only one that walk Off,
- 29:28Speaker 1: you know, walk Off hit the shot. I ran to
- 29:32Speaker 1: the back, like, oh, Ship came back there and shut
- 29:34Speaker 1: the funk up. I was like, I ain't gonna say nothing.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Who else was coach on that? You know? I ended
- 29:42Speaker 1: up making Off should have made it because Ship changed
- 29:45Speaker 1: when I got there. But I was happy for him
- 29:46Speaker 1: because that was really my partner in crime. Like I
- 29:48Speaker 1: felt like I was back with Ron our test, you
- 29:51Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, with Jerl on that wing and
- 29:53Speaker 1: were arguing about who guarding.
- 29:54Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I love having another guy that's gonna compete on the
- 29:57Speaker 1: wing like that, Like playing with Ron was the best
- 29:59Speaker 1: ever bro run a test, Like I would never have
- 30:01Speaker 1: a teammate that could dominate on both fans of the
- 30:04Speaker 1: court every night if he wanted to. You know what
- 30:06Speaker 1: I'm saying, like running somebody who I feel like, as
- 30:09Speaker 1: a team, the only teammate that could have won m
- 30:10Speaker 1: v P and Defensive Player Year in the same year.
- 30:13Speaker 2: And we're here with it. Listen, we are babies, man.
- 30:16Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. We was locked in on
- 30:17Speaker 2: that Pacer stuff. Man, that day that that happened.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Nobody could believe that should happened at all.
- 30:24Speaker 1: We didn't. I couldn't even believe it either, Bro, to
- 30:26Speaker 1: be honest.
- 30:27Speaker 4: That was our championship year.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Though I ain't gonna thank you.
- 30:31Speaker 4: We were smacking all four pistols that year. Bro.
- 30:34Speaker 5: At the time, I played on the Pacers before and
- 30:37Speaker 5: that organization, everybody knew that was a year. Like even
- 30:39Speaker 5: when I came on the team, they didn't think we
- 30:41Speaker 5: was winting no championship year.
- 30:44Speaker 1: They knew that riggie too, because that was the year
- 30:46Speaker 1: for us to win. You know what I'm saying that
- 30:48Speaker 1: that ship that won this ship happened five like five minutes,
- 30:51Speaker 1: fucked up our whole season, But we was beating the
- 30:53Speaker 1: ship out of them to bow out.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Ye, I was cracking everybody shipbod we.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Was pacers might never want to to get I mean
- 31:02Speaker 1: had an opportunity to get close like that.
- 31:04Speaker 3: I mean pg in them they were straight white. That
- 31:07Speaker 3: was the best team to me.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I know they went to the finals with Regid them,
- 31:10Speaker 1: but the team.
- 31:10Speaker 3: We had was the best team. I had killers.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I had killers, but from top to from all the
- 31:15Speaker 1: way around though, from one, two, three, five, like Jeff Foster, Jamano,
- 31:19Speaker 1: Neil Ron test Me, Regim Miller, Jamal Tesley, who had
- 31:24Speaker 1: Scott poll on sideline. We had fucking Fred Jones. Uh,
- 31:28Speaker 1: we had we had a mob, bro, we had a
- 31:30Speaker 1: solid mob. I don't I didn't see nobody beating us
- 31:32Speaker 1: in the seven game series at all. That what a
- 31:36Speaker 1: run on testing his right mind. Nah, it wouldn't happen now, y'all.
- 31:39Speaker 3: That was the year.
- 31:40Speaker 5: I just remember from that fight because Fred Jones, he
- 31:43Speaker 5: used to be in India a lot. He used to
- 31:44Speaker 5: litter for a minute. I used to always mess when
- 31:47Speaker 5: he would come hoop at the gym and ship when
- 31:48Speaker 5: he had that broom.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Everybody else whooping as it was the fun you do
- 31:54Speaker 1: it for, Sweet.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Fred Weeds Ben brother ended up.
- 32:00Speaker 1: If y'all look at the film Ben Brother because I
- 32:02Speaker 1: think Benham has just lost somebody in their family. Before
- 32:04Speaker 1: the game, Ben Brother had ended up right behind Fred
- 32:07Speaker 1: and tried to knock his head. He turned into.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Fred got out of all this.
- 32:14Speaker 1: He didn't get hit, and it was a big boy
- 32:16Speaker 1: he throwing a big boy like he moves on. It's
- 32:22Speaker 1: because if you look at the videos at the time
- 32:23Speaker 1: where they was paying it to everything happened and everybody else,
- 32:25Speaker 1: you don't see emotion.
- 32:26Speaker 4: But Fred was in the stands ducking for his life.
- 32:28Speaker 3: He was like, damn, My thing was why even go
- 32:31Speaker 3: out there?
- 32:32Speaker 1: You know what I'm say, going and saying to me,
- 32:33Speaker 1: and like I really don't feel like we should have got.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Suspended like Ron maybe.
- 32:37Speaker 1: But then again, if you think about, Okay, if somebody
- 32:40Speaker 1: we out at a restaurant and somebody throw a beer
- 32:41Speaker 1: on your face, that's the salt. You know what I'm saying,
- 32:44Speaker 1: You can press charges on them, right Not if you're
- 32:47Speaker 1: a black athlete, Yeah, I got not if you're a
- 32:50Speaker 1: black athlete.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You can't. You know what I'm saying.
- 32:51Speaker 1: We was at work, bro, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Anybody was getting saw to the work. They're not getting
- 32:55Speaker 1: in trouble. Why would we get in trouble because we
- 32:57Speaker 1: defended ourselves. And I have to say this too, when
- 32:59Speaker 1: you look at the tape I got, I got suspended
- 33:02Speaker 1: thirty games, got fined three million dollars, right, so if
- 33:07Speaker 1: you look at the tape, I ran up six rolls
- 33:10Speaker 1: to get and I grabbed run. If I was on
- 33:12Speaker 1: some bullshit, I could hit somebody on row one, two, three, four, five, six.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I wasn't on. I went up and I grabbed Ron
- 33:18Speaker 1: immediately look at the tape. As soon as I grab him,
- 33:21Speaker 1: they throw another beer in his face. That's the dude
- 33:23Speaker 1: I hit.
- 33:24Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 33:25Speaker 1: So that's why I'm feel like I shouldn't have I
- 33:27Speaker 1: shouldn't have got suspended for defending my teammate and being
- 33:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I didn't go Now, if
- 33:31Speaker 1: I went up there in the first row, hit a nigga,
- 33:32Speaker 1: second row, hit a nigga, like okay, yeah, kicking ass,
- 33:36Speaker 1: I have to leave. I didn't do that. You can't.
- 33:39Speaker 3: You can't a leisure and all every.
- 33:42Speaker 1: For real you and Jayo because Jao hit dude, he slipped.
- 33:45Speaker 1: But if he didn't slip, bro.
- 33:47Speaker 3: And he's still left on the stretcher.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Yeah, the dude Jayo slipped and the dude still left
- 33:52Speaker 1: on the stretcher.
- 33:53Speaker 3: That's how crazy.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I'm glad. I'm glad he did. Oh my god, can
- 33:57Speaker 1: you imagine Jao teeing up and lining somebody up. What dude?
- 34:05Speaker 1: Clay Click kicked that off though, So no wrong was wrong.
- 34:11Speaker 3: So I'm at the free throw line.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Look at the game.
- 34:16Speaker 3: I'm at the free throw line.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you some shit that a lot of
- 34:19Speaker 1: people don't know. I'm at the free throw line. I'm
- 34:21Speaker 1: shooting the free throw. All I hear is you can
- 34:24Speaker 1: get your file back. And Jamal Tense is telling that
- 34:27Speaker 1: to Ron. I'm like, man, what we don't tell him that?
- 34:32Speaker 1: So I'm like, fuck it, I go you know what
- 34:35Speaker 1: I thought. I hit him, make the free throw. I
- 34:37Speaker 1: ran back. Look at the tape. I ran back fast
- 34:39Speaker 1: and jumped and guarded Ben just so wrong. Cann't file
- 34:42Speaker 1: him guarding Ben. I'm just letting Ben go score with
- 34:46Speaker 1: the termin and out go ahead. You know, I'm just
- 34:47Speaker 1: playing token defense. I ain't follow him go score wrong,
- 34:50Speaker 1: come from out of nowhere and file him hard. I'm like, oh,
- 34:55Speaker 1: being turned around and got ten times bigger nigga swilling.
- 34:58Speaker 1: I'm like that incredible.
- 34:59Speaker 7: I'm like, boom, nigga run I thought run head came off.
- 35:07Speaker 7: My nigga pushed Ron ship back so fast. I'm about guy.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I've never seen a nigga put his hands in somebody's
- 35:13Speaker 1: face like that, though, and Ron just you know, he
- 35:16Speaker 1: tried to get himself together.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I know he was kind of woozy.
- 35:18Speaker 1: He had to be.
- 35:19Speaker 3: He tried to get it something. We ended up breaking
- 35:21Speaker 3: it up.
- 35:21Speaker 1: But if Ron would have never came up in five
- 35:23Speaker 1: Ben I was guarding him tip with the game would
- 35:25Speaker 1: have ran out. We'd have been out of you know
- 35:26Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But Jamal Sensey told it, bro, get
- 35:29Speaker 1: your file back from last year something in the finals
- 35:31Speaker 1: that I hadn't you know what I'm saying, didn't know
- 35:33Speaker 1: nothing about it, and I ended up in that ship
- 35:35Speaker 1: and that's how all that ship started off. That ship
- 35:37Speaker 1: would never happened. That's crazy, fuck bro crazy.
- 35:41Speaker 6: I want to talk about them Spurs teams though, because
- 35:44Speaker 6: you played to me with the best fire for it
- 35:46Speaker 6: to ever do this.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I agree with you on that. Like, how was that point?
- 35:50Speaker 3: I know it was a couple of fun niggas on
- 35:51Speaker 3: the team. If you don't want to, I.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Met you.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I met you.
- 36:00Speaker 3: I keep it from Yeah, you ain't got to speak
- 36:03Speaker 3: on the bigges. How was that playing for Pop Bro
- 36:07Speaker 3: one of the graziest.
- 36:08Speaker 1: So I say this and people think I'm crazy, But
- 36:10Speaker 1: Pop is not a great coach. Hold on, he's a
- 36:13Speaker 1: great leader, you know what I'm saying. See if you
- 36:16Speaker 1: look at the Spurs teams and look at all the
- 36:18Speaker 1: coaches that come under Pop, that's head coaching somewhere else.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Look at all the guys that came in and came
- 36:23Speaker 1: into Spurs organization. That was film guys, that's GMS and
- 36:26Speaker 1: President of the team, Sam Preston. All these guys right
- 36:29Speaker 1: all over the league. They so he Pop is a
- 36:32Speaker 1: great leader. When you when you play for the Spurs teams,
- 36:34Speaker 1: when you look at the timeouts, Pop has a When
- 36:38Speaker 1: I was there was an offensive coach and the defensive coach.
- 36:40Speaker 1: My offense coach was Mike Budd Newser He's been Coach
- 36:44Speaker 1: of the Year two years. Mike Brown. That was your guy,
- 36:48Speaker 1: Bud news Mike Brown and sant Sacramento. He was the
- 36:50Speaker 1: defensive coach. So doing timeouts they meet, but budd comes
- 36:54Speaker 1: in with offense, the time out, Mike comes in. That's
- 36:57Speaker 1: why That's why I say Pop is not a great coach,
- 36:59Speaker 1: He's a great leader. He leads the organization from the
- 37:02Speaker 1: top with everybody from the gym to the ball boys
- 37:05Speaker 1: to the camera guys. Everybody sneaking championship or bus right.
- 37:09Speaker 1: And you go to a lot of organizations where the
- 37:11Speaker 1: leader of the organization doesn't have the power to have
- 37:14Speaker 1: everybody buying into that. That's why I say he's the
- 37:16Speaker 1: best leader because he can. He can bring any coaches
- 37:19Speaker 1: in there, make them look good, and send them off
- 37:21Speaker 1: somewhere else with their head coaches. He got a guy
- 37:23Speaker 1: that was the film guy when I was there. He's
- 37:26Speaker 1: the head coach of the Utah Jazz. Now you know
- 37:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So Pop, That's why I say he's
- 37:31Speaker 1: a leader. He's not a great coach. He brings he
- 37:33Speaker 1: brings great coaches under him. But he's a great leader.
- 37:36Speaker 1: And I don't think it's a better leader in the NBA.
- 37:38Speaker 1: But my time there was a blessing because I learned
- 37:41Speaker 1: how to be a professional. I learned the NBA has
- 37:43Speaker 1: more than just playing basketball. I learned how to prepare
- 37:46Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I learned how to be
- 37:47Speaker 1: a man because Steve Smith. He showed me how to
- 37:49Speaker 1: be a man with David Robinson. But not having Tim
- 37:51Speaker 1: Duncan there, I don't think I ever would have played.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I would have got an opportunity to be on the court.
- 37:56Speaker 1: When I first got there. Everybody don't know Tim is
- 37:58Speaker 1: the action junky. So he playing paintball. He's like, he
- 38:02Speaker 1: like he got he got a thing. He had a
- 38:03Speaker 1: case full of guns, like he he do UFC training,
- 38:06Speaker 1: like he wanted those action type guys.
- 38:08Speaker 3: He like ashes.
- 38:08Speaker 1: So when I first got there, he needed somebody to
- 38:11Speaker 1: go play paintball with him. Yeah, I know that's right
- 38:13Speaker 1: up my alley.
- 38:19Speaker 3: You're talking about throwing Jesus whatever.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Ship Samples used to wear. Crazy. That's the worst one ever,
- 38:29Speaker 1: the worst. Let you know. He didn't give a respect though.
- 38:33Speaker 1: He liked to play paintball. So I showed him, you know,
- 38:36Speaker 1: I showed him paintball with Diggie's on Chuck. He's like, boy,
- 38:38Speaker 1: you can't. You got to have some comfortable shoes like this,
- 38:40Speaker 1: ain't you know we can do a drive by. He's like, nah,
- 38:43Speaker 1: this ain't it. But you gotta get elbow passed. So
- 38:45Speaker 1: I used to go play with him, so training camp
- 38:48Speaker 1: this funny story. So we go play and like, I
- 38:51Speaker 1: ain't scared of ship, like I really ain't. Besides God,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I ain't scared of no human. I ain't scared of nothing.
- 38:56Speaker 1: That's just my problem. That's why I've probably been so
- 38:58Speaker 1: much ship. And the name of the game is you
- 39:01Speaker 1: got to go grab the flag in the middle. So
- 39:05Speaker 1: I'm like, ain't nobody gonna go grab the flag? Yeah, nigga,
- 39:08Speaker 1: scary that. I dropped my gun, hall ass teach, So
- 39:14Speaker 1: I'm just start playing. So I didn't know they had
- 39:17Speaker 1: masks that don't fog up. I'm not hip to that.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I'm just, you know, I'm just trying to have on
- 39:21Speaker 1: some ghetto ship. My mask fogged up. I gotta run
- 39:25Speaker 1: up the steps.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Boom boom.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Nigga, shoot me, Nigga, I got it, Nigga. I missed
- 39:30Speaker 1: the last step and my mask lder uh, nigga, blood everywhere, Nigga,
- 39:38Speaker 1: my mouth, I'm talking, My shit is so swollen. Nigga's
- 39:40Speaker 1: blood everywhere, my tooth and went to my lip. All
- 39:43Speaker 1: kind of ship, right, So I slipped my mask down
- 39:47Speaker 1: and I'm running down trying to tell the niggas I
- 39:49Speaker 1: hit my mouth. These nigga shoot. I'm like, they shoot
- 39:54Speaker 1: me and they think it's paint, but it's blood and
- 39:57Speaker 1: it took over all my whole shirt. So I'm like, man,
- 39:59Speaker 1: stop me. You know what I'm saying, bleed par real.
- 40:01Speaker 1: So we gotta go to practice the next day. I mean,
- 40:05Speaker 1: with Tim, we lift and waives Pop coming out. What
- 40:07Speaker 1: happened this when Tim fuck with me? I mean, I
- 40:10Speaker 1: was playing at the house with my homeboard flat box.
- 40:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, The straight up lied. Tim
- 40:15Speaker 1: thought I was gonna say. You know what I'm saying,
- 40:17Speaker 1: straight up live to Pop nigga. You know, Pop knew
- 40:20Speaker 1: I was lying. He knew that shit. Ever since then,
- 40:23Speaker 1: Tim bosh for me doing practice put I wasn't playing.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I was on practice squad. Put me on the first
- 40:31Speaker 1: five with him to day he tell her, So Seattle,
- 40:33Speaker 1: We're playing in Seattle. One day, it's been like twenty
- 40:35Speaker 1: five games into the season. I'm coming off the bench
- 40:38Speaker 1: on averisent by eighteen off the bench at the time. Yeah,
- 40:41Speaker 1: I'm killing to it. Yeah, getting to off the bench.
- 40:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Playing probably like twenty five
- 40:45Speaker 1: minutes and pop cars like, come to my room. I'm like,
- 40:52Speaker 1: I get in this room, Tim and there I'm like, yep,
- 40:58Speaker 1: they know they know we're gonna start you tonight. Okay,
- 41:08Speaker 1: get kicked off the team. We're gonna start you tonight.
- 41:11Speaker 1: You know you've been playing well, I'm like, okay, cool,
- 41:14Speaker 1: but that on wasn't That depends the work hardest part.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I told you Steve Smith was my o G. So
- 41:19Speaker 1: I was taking his spot. So you know, I walk
- 41:22Speaker 1: in the locker room, I'm like, walk by him, don't
- 41:25Speaker 1: want to speak to him like this o G. Like,
- 41:26Speaker 1: I don't know how he's gonna feel like, Hey, you
- 41:29Speaker 1: gooted for me. I'm rooting you the same way like
- 41:31Speaker 1: he was a real It was like, we don't do that.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I'm root for you just the way. It ain't personal,
- 41:36Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I didn't understand that I
- 41:38Speaker 1: wasn't a professional then, you know what I'm saying. But
- 41:40Speaker 1: for him to do that, it gave me the conference
- 41:43Speaker 1: to go out there and play. So shout to Steve Smith.
- 41:45Speaker 1: But that's how I ended up really getting on the
- 41:47Speaker 1: court and getting a chance to play was because the Tim,
- 41:48Speaker 1: because Tim kept vouching for me. Was that this was so,
- 41:51Speaker 1: this is O three yep, did you want to chip?
- 41:54Speaker 1: And that finals was crazy. I remember you having one
- 41:55Speaker 1: of the colts in and outs every like I was
- 41:57Speaker 1: aware who you.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Was, Kenny Martin, and I ever seen in all life.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And I ain't I'm just not. I'm not like teaching.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I ain't the greatest handler.
- 42:07Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I can control my ship. But some ship had come
- 42:09Speaker 1: out there now instinct.
- 42:12Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. The niggas do this on purpose.
- 42:14Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. My ship just came off instinct.
- 42:18Speaker 4: I remember that that was one of the hardest thing
- 42:20Speaker 4: I've ever seen in my life.
- 42:22Speaker 2: That was crazy. But man, like I said, we have
- 42:24Speaker 2: town babies, and y'all was going crazy. And to see
- 42:26Speaker 2: it at the same time the coast is going crazy.
- 42:28Speaker 2: How was that the night life in the city because
- 42:30Speaker 2: the city ain't been the same since, But how was
- 42:32Speaker 2: that energy in the city when the coast is killing,
- 42:33Speaker 2: y'all killing, and everybody was outside and jail had the
- 42:36Speaker 2: clubs and had our own club every night, Sir.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Seven seven, shout out McAfee. Bob Sanders, Bob saying the
- 42:48Speaker 1: whole nine. It was the line.
- 42:51Speaker 3: It was the line back of the name.
- 42:53Speaker 1: No no no, no no no.
- 42:55Speaker 3: White.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Freenie g next up with m That was my dogs.
- 43:03Speaker 1: They always out. We was all out together, bro. That
- 43:06Speaker 1: was my first That's probably the only time that I've
- 43:08Speaker 1: been in the city as the football team and we
- 43:10Speaker 1: hung together every night. I didn't do that to know
- 43:12Speaker 1: other city that that team. Those two teams were basically
- 43:15Speaker 1: like family, broke cause we supported each other, you know
- 43:17Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I think I stayed right next door
- 43:19Speaker 1: to Tony Dungeon, and the night I got hit by
- 43:22Speaker 1: the car, that was the first person at my house
- 43:24Speaker 1: when I got home from getting stitched up.
- 43:25Speaker 3: He was the first person.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Knocked on my door, Tony Dungeon. So I think just
- 43:29Speaker 1: the fact that a lot of the guys stayed in
- 43:30Speaker 1: the same neighborhoods and we support that.
- 43:32Speaker 3: It was just dope.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And then it was a lot of guys on the
- 43:34Speaker 1: team that grew up like us, you know what I'm saying,
- 43:36Speaker 1: Andrew James, they grew up from the struggle too, So
- 43:39Speaker 1: it was it was a great connection. Bro. You ever
- 43:40Speaker 1: hear Riverside on a Sunday. I sure did.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Set all here. Theseggas, they're gonna make.
- 43:52Speaker 1: It families everywhere. That's so crazy. We had a sheriff
- 44:01Speaker 1: came to my house. Jail had a sheriff come to
- 44:04Speaker 1: the house and give all of his gun license after that. Yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 1: that's yeah, that's why I felt like that they had
- 44:12Speaker 1: a gun Like kids untouchable, I'm gonna get off, get off, And.
- 44:23Speaker 4: It was crazy as a kid.
- 44:24Speaker 3: That that's how going.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Like you would see Jamali and the random s places,
- 44:27Speaker 2: Freshman all Fresh and Helf Fresh White T, Fresh Forces,
- 44:30Speaker 2: Fresh j Brother.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Cut my hair and he wore he wore Fresh Path Ones.
- 44:36Speaker 1: J T even practiced in the Fresh Path ones one day.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Solid that's untied. How was that like playing with him?
- 44:41Speaker 6: He's under another point guard for sure, that's super underrated.
- 44:45Speaker 6: He was THEMN there to me before right for Austin
- 44:48Speaker 6: like the one type of player you know. So how
- 44:51Speaker 6: was that playing with Jamal.
- 44:52Speaker 1: One of the best post up guards you could ever
- 44:54Speaker 1: play against. His post game was underrated and as far
- 44:57Speaker 1: as his passing and bar handling, you ain't gonna find
- 45:00Speaker 1: too many guys that's gonna do. The playground ship in
- 45:03Speaker 1: the game that he would do you know what I'm saying,
- 45:05Speaker 1: He'll he'll post up and turn around and throw it
- 45:07Speaker 1: through the guy legs on the box right down to
- 45:09Speaker 1: on the box once you threw his legs like. He
- 45:11Speaker 1: was doing stuff like that. So he was very probably
- 45:14Speaker 1: the most besides Baron David was the most creative person
- 45:17Speaker 1: with the ball I play with, and uh, like he's
- 45:21Speaker 1: very underrated. I just think because he the way he
- 45:23Speaker 1: played it was slow. He didn't give the even give
- 45:26Speaker 1: the effort all the time on defense like that, So
- 45:28Speaker 1: people kind of knocked him for that.
- 45:29Speaker 3: As far as talent, he had it all six.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Yeah, probably a little taller, he looks.
- 45:36Speaker 3: He looked real little on them.
- 45:38Speaker 1: It just got the ball on.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he could pass, like.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Especially when the coach he is playing for him to
- 45:44Speaker 2: play the way he played under that coach at the time, Yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 2: because LB wasn't going for that. Yeah, so for him
- 45:49Speaker 2: to get that off, that's why. Yeah, we got some
- 45:51Speaker 2: inner City.
- 45:52Speaker 6: Outside of Tim Duncan. Who the best player you ever
- 45:54Speaker 6: played with? Tim got to be one.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Tim is the best I played with.
- 46:00Speaker 1: If I have to go, it's out a run and
- 46:03Speaker 1: jo I got Barren number three, But it's out of
- 46:06Speaker 1: Ron and jail for too, because I seen Ron do
- 46:08Speaker 1: some amazing things on that court, Like it's dominated on
- 46:11Speaker 1: both sides of the court. And I seen Jermaine Damnar
- 46:14Speaker 1: to get seventy points. You know what I'm saying one night, So.
- 46:16Speaker 4: People sleep on used to get bucket broad don't happen.
- 46:20Speaker 1: He's in the Hall of Fame already. That don't happen.
- 46:23Speaker 1: But run Roun's a Hall of Famer, So I give
- 46:27Speaker 1: you that.
- 46:27Speaker 6: I want to talk about that Warriors team though, yeah,
- 46:31Speaker 6: that's probably I don't know. I ain't gonna say the
- 46:32Speaker 6: most fried team.
- 46:34Speaker 3: On record, that's the if we're not the most burnout
- 46:37Speaker 3: team in the.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Indiana team Charlotte, I mean the Golden State team was
- 46:48Speaker 1: probably the most burnout team ever in life.
- 46:51Speaker 5: Yeall made basketball fund though, Like watching y'all was like, damn,
- 46:54Speaker 5: that looks fun.
- 46:55Speaker 1: But just imagine a whole bunch of people you grew
- 46:57Speaker 1: up knowing high school. Y'all hit up on the same
- 46:59Speaker 1: NBA team. Y'all got a coach Donnie that the first
- 47:04Speaker 1: day I get there, just how he tell me and
- 47:06Speaker 1: Bettie we captains. He brings us to this little hole
- 47:09Speaker 1: in the wall, talk about I'm gonna take out to
- 47:11Speaker 1: this hole in the wall bar to play shuffle board.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Who knows what shuffle board is.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Niggas don't know what that is, right, I'm like cool,
- 47:19Speaker 1: whatever we get there, it's with the sand, the little
- 47:21Speaker 1: metal balls and you slider time, you know what I mean.
- 47:23Speaker 1: So we didn't play the ship at all. This nigga
- 47:26Speaker 1: got a bottle of scotch and got me and bet
- 47:28Speaker 1: piss it drunk, talk about the to the Betie, blinking
- 47:32Speaker 1: our eyes and as we had like the fifth shoddy
- 47:35Speaker 1: tablets up, Larry, come on, Larry, hey, you guys are captains,
- 47:38Speaker 1: and he stumble out. We roll with him. We called,
- 47:44Speaker 1: we called the we called the driver from the and
- 47:48Speaker 1: him and last. So he left with me this SMI
- 47:49Speaker 1: beaty sent at the bar like nigga talking about drunk
- 47:52Speaker 1: because I don't drink scotch. We're sitting there waitting like
- 47:55Speaker 1: I guess we captains.
- 47:56Speaker 3: We had to buind our way home.
- 47:58Speaker 1: So that day we we knew that this all now
- 48:01Speaker 1: we coach. When we took our last drug test, me
- 48:07Speaker 1: and Bed coming out of the locker room with our
- 48:08Speaker 1: pink slip because they get your pink slip. I did
- 48:10Speaker 1: take you test my head coaches out like this, given
- 48:15Speaker 1: it's high five, come out. Yeah. Yeah, we already smoking
- 48:19Speaker 1: because we live in the same building. But he giving
- 48:21Speaker 1: us high five. That's what that's listen to explaining how
- 48:25Speaker 1: our team was. You know what I'm saying, man, and
- 48:26Speaker 1: our best friends. When we got that Montella didn't have
- 48:29Speaker 1: a tattoo. You look at him now, your whole body tattoo.
- 48:33Speaker 1: He had one tattoo that was Matt. The best Matt
- 48:36Speaker 1: thought right there that boys did that to my taste,
- 48:38Speaker 1: is that you.
- 48:39Speaker 3: And Matt first time linking up. Yep.
- 48:40Speaker 1: So that's how me and Matt became close. When his
- 48:42Speaker 1: mom died, you know what I'm saying, I stayed with
- 48:44Speaker 1: him the whole time. You know what I'm saying, We
- 48:46Speaker 1: really became But his mama died fast too from cancer,
- 48:49Speaker 1: and uh, instead of me going home doing those little
- 48:52Speaker 1: breaks shit, I just stayed with him. And that's what
- 48:53Speaker 1: that's That's how Barnes started. Didn't start with the podcast
- 48:56Speaker 1: started way before that in Golden State. But that team
- 48:59Speaker 1: bro was just a whole bunch of guys that been
- 49:01Speaker 1: knowing each other. We get a chance to play together.
- 49:03Speaker 1: We didn't think we was gonna make the playoffs and
- 49:04Speaker 1: no ship like that. We were just hungry and you know,
- 49:06Speaker 1: playing hard and playing for each other. Good shit happened.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Y'all was going out every night, every night. But it's
- 49:11Speaker 1: not one city. Let me tell you the story of
- 49:13Speaker 1: New Year's. We're in Houston on New Years. We had
- 49:18Speaker 1: just beat the Rockets, right, so this is a typical
- 49:21Speaker 1: night with us. So this is New Year's. We beat
- 49:24Speaker 1: the rockets. We in the club. It's about club like
- 49:27Speaker 1: an hour two for being closed.
- 49:29Speaker 3: By this time.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Our whole team is drunk, so everybody has a role.
- 49:32Speaker 1: So I passed out the Bandanna, so everybody got a
- 49:35Speaker 1: red band downers. I don't know why Nbad's trip everybody. Okay,
- 49:43Speaker 1: Matt rot Mad is the drunk, pretty white boy, so
- 49:47Speaker 1: we all drunk niggas and white beat us. He run
- 49:50Speaker 1: around ripping niggas, white beat us off like some I
- 49:52Speaker 1: don't know some school days type I don't know old schools,
- 49:56Speaker 1: and I don't know some drunk white boys sh no
- 50:00Speaker 1: niggas and the half niggas drunk half wife beat his.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Own half farf right.
- 50:04Speaker 1: So normally it's my job to find Baron Davis. If
- 50:08Speaker 1: you don't find Baron Davis, it's gonna be a night
- 50:10Speaker 1: that we're gonna remember all we we're gonna regret it.
- 50:14Speaker 1: So I end up getting too fucked Uphy. I lose
- 50:16Speaker 1: barn and I get tapped by one my home. I
- 50:19Speaker 1: was like, bro, look your boy like what He on
- 50:23Speaker 1: his way to the DJ so look as soon as
- 50:29Speaker 1: he grabbed the microphone my homebore Coppo tech d Finnig.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Get us all to night, get us all the dated,
- 50:39Speaker 1: so I said, He grabbed the mic, stopped the music. Hey,
- 50:45Speaker 1: we're the Warriors.
- 50:47Speaker 3: We come to the city.
- 50:48Speaker 1: We take y'all bitches. We beat our team. What's up,
- 50:52Speaker 1: Luther Head? Because we gang bang? And he paused, And
- 51:00Speaker 1: we sell drugs. I told you, I told you. I'm like,
- 51:10Speaker 1: oh man, somebody gonna get this. This is New Year's
- 51:13Speaker 1: in Houston. So every drugs, this is the time we
- 51:19Speaker 1: get outside. Police everywhere. The police is everywhere. You know what,
- 51:24Speaker 1: I'm saying, peep outside that to fight or something. So
- 51:26Speaker 1: we all coming out, you know, we deep and the
- 51:28Speaker 1: police saying something to us. This nigga betells the police
- 51:32Speaker 1: stand down. I am an honorary captain. I have this
- 51:38Speaker 1: under control. Stand down. This nigga told HP to stand down.
- 51:45Speaker 3: I am an honorary captain.
- 51:47Speaker 1: We was out there dying dog. That was one of
- 51:50Speaker 1: the best. Nice but that's the type of night used
- 51:52Speaker 1: to have every night, thog. Every night everybody had a
- 51:54Speaker 1: different niggas called Jay rich Don Julio.
- 51:57Speaker 3: That was his favorite drink.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Then we was drinking back there. Yeah, yeah, we was
- 52:03Speaker 1: going because I.
- 52:04Speaker 6: Heard them stories about yourn rogers. Didn't know how y'all
- 52:06Speaker 6: got up and still one out in handle business.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Miami night we played Orlando. Beat We beat Orlando. We
- 52:12Speaker 1: fly straight to Miami on the back to back. We
- 52:14Speaker 1: stay out till seven thirty in the morning. The whole team,
- 52:18Speaker 1: we all just go straight from the club to the bus.
- 52:21Speaker 1: We get on the busy Eric at the time, he's
- 52:25Speaker 1: one of the best trainers in the league for the war,
- 52:27Speaker 1: so he brought all our stuff on the bus. So
- 52:28Speaker 1: everybody on the bus with the clothes that had on
- 52:30Speaker 1: from the game Orlando. That's crazy. We go to shoot
- 52:35Speaker 1: around Nellie walk out. There's about two people on the
- 52:39Speaker 1: court shooting everybody else those office like alcohol. He's like
- 52:44Speaker 1: held break it and bring it ahead, We bring it
- 52:46Speaker 1: and he's like, make go get back on the bus
- 52:50Speaker 1: and we better win the night. One by thirty d
- 52:54Speaker 1: wading him, that's crazy one by thirty. I thought we
- 52:57Speaker 1: parted when I was a rookie on Atlanta with bill Yonaim.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I know he was comfortable talking about that, but
- 53:04Speaker 3: I just hear about yad.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Bro.
- 53:06Speaker 3: That's what made me sponge to y'all because I'm a Friday.
- 53:08Speaker 3: Got the NBA is a joke.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I ain't if I would have took the game more series.
- 53:19Speaker 1: I probably had a couple of All Star games, you
- 53:20Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, without the broad ship. But I
- 53:22Speaker 1: don't change it for not because I enjoyed my career. Bro,
- 53:25Speaker 1: your legend and I played with some solid brothers too.
- 53:28Speaker 1: How was that?
- 53:28Speaker 3: Can you speak on that?
- 53:29Speaker 5: Uh?
- 53:29Speaker 3: That Maverick series though?
- 53:32Speaker 1: For me, Bro, I I watched that series a lot
- 53:36Speaker 1: because I didn't get the credit from the team for
- 53:40Speaker 1: what I did.
- 53:40Speaker 3: I saved us in the Western Conference finals. I saved us.
- 53:44Speaker 3: Bro Genobilie was the only person that was was being
- 53:47Speaker 3: solid Tony.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Tony wasn't playing well because they were playing they had
- 53:50Speaker 1: to bring speedy classes in. Tim was getting doubled, so
- 53:53Speaker 1: he really couldn't get off and they was all they
- 53:55Speaker 1: weren't really doing that. So if you look at the games,
- 53:58Speaker 1: I'm making all the big shots, even when we have
- 54:00Speaker 1: we're going through droughts, I'm the only one scoring.
- 54:02Speaker 3: So when the last when it came.
- 54:04Speaker 1: To game six, when they end up putting Steve Current
- 54:07Speaker 1: and hit throws fourth, it was big for us. Well,
- 54:09Speaker 1: look at the whole games, the whole game and was
- 54:13Speaker 1: still making big shots for him to give him the
- 54:15Speaker 1: MVP at the end of the game, like that shit
- 54:17Speaker 1: crushed me. And the only reason that I don't talk
- 54:19Speaker 1: about this a lot because Genobi came to me when
- 54:22Speaker 1: I was in my locker. I was about to start crying,
- 54:23Speaker 1: but he came like, bro, you deserved the MVP. For
- 54:26Speaker 1: him to tell me that I was cool because that
- 54:28Speaker 1: was the only person on the court that whole series
- 54:30Speaker 1: that was riding with me. You know what I'm saying,
- 54:32Speaker 1: And it meant a lot. But I watched that series
- 54:34Speaker 1: a lot brough because I don't feel like I got
- 54:36Speaker 1: the credit I deserved for that series. I was busting
- 54:38Speaker 1: the ass and I was high every game, every game,
- 54:43Speaker 1: every game.
- 54:44Speaker 3: You a legend now I want to talk about that
- 54:46Speaker 3: Maverie series with you would.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Go though, Oh okay, oh yeah, after talking about the
- 54:51Speaker 1: one with the Spirst, so so that that one was
- 54:53Speaker 1: special because a lot of people don't know don Nelson
- 54:56Speaker 1: was suing them. Oh damn, damn. You know he had
- 55:02Speaker 1: he had some the contract shit with Mark Cuban, so
- 55:05Speaker 1: he was suing them during that time, you know.
- 55:07Speaker 3: What I'm saying.
- 55:08Speaker 1: So his whole his whole idea was every time I
- 55:12Speaker 1: played Dallas, I want.
- 55:13Speaker 3: To beat them.
- 55:14Speaker 1: I don't care about nothing else. And he knew Dirk's
- 55:16Speaker 1: game better than anybody. So he gave us the blueprint.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Make him go right. If he go left, he got
- 55:22Speaker 1: so he can fade away, he got. But if going right,
- 55:24Speaker 1: he don't even want to. He don't want to put
- 55:25Speaker 1: the ball down. Damn. So me and Matt made sure
- 55:28Speaker 1: we made him go right every time, and we were
- 55:30Speaker 1: super physical with him. You know what I'm saying. Dirk
- 55:32Speaker 1: wasn't super physical. If you let him get the shot off,
- 55:34Speaker 1: that's your ass. Nothing you can do, you know what
- 55:36Speaker 1: I'm saying. There's nothing you can do. And he want
- 55:39Speaker 1: MVP that year. He was the MVP that year. That
- 55:42Speaker 1: was the best team in the West. So I just
- 55:43Speaker 1: think Donnie Nelson prepared us so well for them, you
- 55:47Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Because that's all because after we
- 55:49Speaker 1: beat them, he didn't care about the rest of the season. Nigga.
- 55:52Speaker 1: We was preparing ourselves for the second round. Gets you talk.
- 55:55Speaker 1: He didn't give a fuck. He was sharting up with
- 55:56Speaker 1: Folk cigars in his pocket.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Eight in the month.
- 55:58Speaker 1: He got drinking beer and shit. He didn'tet, but damn
- 56:00Speaker 1: dog after he beat Dallas and that was his ship, bro,
- 56:03Speaker 1: and we understood that why.
- 56:04Speaker 3: We want to win so hard.
- 56:05Speaker 1: But if we don't have Baron Davis the way he
- 56:09Speaker 1: played Game one, we don't win that series in Dallas.
- 56:11Speaker 1: He went crazy that game one, Bro, thirty some points
- 56:16Speaker 1: like he was and he kept all shots, was timely,
- 56:20Speaker 1: so cold.
- 56:20Speaker 4: He's one of the coldest point guards.
- 56:22Speaker 3: That's one of these shouts of myg he loved.
- 56:25Speaker 5: Yeah, he didn't want to tell me. I didn't watch
- 56:27Speaker 5: the NBA like that. And him and give the rings
- 56:29Speaker 5: was the first some of the first point guards I watched.
- 56:31Speaker 1: B He don't get hurt. He might go down to
- 56:34Speaker 1: top ten point goar whatever. He don't get hurt because athletics,
- 56:38Speaker 1: he had it all.
- 56:39Speaker 3: He could score, that's all.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Like he was mad.
- 56:43Speaker 3: I said he had a b BL.
- 56:44Speaker 1: But you know he needs to show up with practice,
- 56:56Speaker 1: with his knee braises on top and sweat. So this
- 57:04Speaker 1: is what I started fucking. I used to watch you
- 57:06Speaker 1: do the show with Skip Bas and Ship. Used to
- 57:08Speaker 1: go in there and be real and never what time
- 57:10Speaker 1: you talk about everybody you was better than and everybody
- 57:13Speaker 1: was mad at you. I was like, no, he just
- 57:15Speaker 1: competent as fuck. Thank you, broank you like I didn't
- 57:19Speaker 1: have a better career in rayality, But if you look
- 57:21Speaker 1: at the games I played against a lot of these people,
- 57:23Speaker 1: I balled out a lot of we might not have
- 57:26Speaker 1: won the game with my matches with a lot of
- 57:27Speaker 1: these people who y'all look up to, I bust. They
- 57:30Speaker 1: asked a lot of knights and lock them up, and
- 57:32Speaker 1: you can go look at the games. I'm not making
- 57:34Speaker 1: it up, but I'm not like I said, I didn't
- 57:35Speaker 1: have better careers than these people. But I'm a competitor.
- 57:38Speaker 1: And when it came to the game, yeah, I wasn't
- 57:41Speaker 1: a better shooting than Ray, but I better postal player,
- 57:43Speaker 1: I passed better. I was a better defender. I was
- 57:45Speaker 1: a lot of things better than him on the court,
- 57:47Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So as a player, people
- 57:49Speaker 1: understand as a fan that like you just hating, But
- 57:52Speaker 1: I did it in real time.
- 57:53Speaker 3: I don't think you was hating messages.
- 57:55Speaker 1: You know. And I admit they have better careers than me.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I'd have a better career events either, But
- 58:00Speaker 1: Benson tell you I had some great games against it.
- 58:03Speaker 1: But they understand it's different when you just be like,
- 58:05Speaker 1: let's go roll the ball out, Like it's a bunch
- 58:07Speaker 1: of people to probably bust my ass. They probably don't
- 58:09Speaker 1: have a better career than me, but it ain't too
- 58:11Speaker 1: many people can stand in front of you so that
- 58:13Speaker 1: they lose right there. Yeah, just like Jordan Crawford, Like
- 58:18Speaker 1: that's my man. But if you roll the ball out,
- 58:20Speaker 1: let's just go hoop. Yeah, he'll funk around, give you fifty. Yes,
- 58:22Speaker 1: he could score, yeah, but like three, yeah, you know
- 58:26Speaker 1: what I mean, Like he'll roll the ball out, he'll
- 58:27Speaker 1: get buckets and a lot of people can't outscore.
- 58:30Speaker 3: Was a motherfucker though he was.
- 58:32Speaker 6: He was walking down down, and I love you, Jack,
- 58:36Speaker 6: that nigga Jesus shuttles word.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Was the truth for him to transition his career from.
- 58:44Speaker 6: Because we grew up Milwaukee Bucks supersonic real and for
- 58:48Speaker 6: him to go strictly just shoot her.
- 58:49Speaker 3: I remember, you know what I mean. I don't know
- 58:51Speaker 3: how he was off the court, but Jesus shows.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Word, not Hughes cut was. It was athletic bro and.
- 58:57Speaker 6: He he Loki had a handle to pull up off
- 59:02Speaker 6: the dribb. Milwaukee was out of control, was scoring twenty
- 59:10Speaker 6: five a night with another nigga with Charlan Lewis another
- 59:13Speaker 6: motherfucker that people don't speak.
- 59:14Speaker 1: On like thought.
- 59:15Speaker 5: I took it as you was talking about we rolled
- 59:17Speaker 5: the ball out and it ain't no place we don't got.
- 59:20Speaker 4: I knew how, I knew what about you meant like,
- 59:22Speaker 4: we just.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Put the ball out here. I can kill him too,
- 59:24Speaker 1: and any given night I could be better than any
- 59:26Speaker 1: one of them guys.
- 59:27Speaker 6: So so speaking on that though, you know you was
- 59:30Speaker 6: known for defending the ship. Who is the hardest or
- 59:33Speaker 6: you can give us two hardest of the guard, Kobe,
- 59:38Speaker 6: not even close?
- 59:39Speaker 3: Who else? Stuff one person?
- 59:43Speaker 1: Because I guarded you got mello, Yeah, I got a mellow.
- 59:47Speaker 1: I got a mellow pretty good. I got a mellow
- 59:49Speaker 1: pretty good because you know, I played one through four,
- 59:53Speaker 1: so I go to Power Force too. Yeah, but I
- 59:55Speaker 1: think for me, if it ain't Kobe.
- 59:57Speaker 6: Somebody that nobody would think they used to God damn
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: this nigga, Cold Brandon, motherfucking Roy Roy.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I had problems with that nigga. We used to go
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: at it though, but he was different, Bro, like no injury.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: He wanted the cold as ever. One of my favorite
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: shoot gards of ball like that. Hands down, b Roy
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: is one of the best basketball players I've ever had
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: to guard.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: I was not even close. He get this fly slot
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: on this show.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Bro.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Show both y'all both played in the city and lived
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: to see at the same time. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: You did a little bit before you did to see
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: the city is now. But how was it to be
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: in the city as it was growing until the meccan
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: was now? And then how was it playing when it
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: was already lit?
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: On the come up? I can't. I came three. It
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: was beautiful because it was Atlanta. Was that it was
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: that it was at its height, it was at his
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: height around the time. You know what I'm saying, that's
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: when BMF was doing a thing. The rap scene was
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: was sid of everybody. But that time, it wasn't no
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: beef like you got people beefing now, like everybody support
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: each other, Everybody hung out together, everybody went to saying.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: When Adams had a party, everybody was there. Like back then,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: everybody was having a good time. And I think it
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: was because of people like Meach because when he used
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: to come in to clubs, he coming with cup but
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: it wasn't no it wasn't no problems, Like he used
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: to buy bottles for everybody in the section. So you
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like everybody was having a good time.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Back then.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: It wasn't no competition, you know what I'm saying, like
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: it is now and the different hoods beefing. So the
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: club and the party was, it was the best time
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: to be in Atlanta, Bro, it was the best time
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: to be in Now is just you know, it's just
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: too much with the pills and the drugs and when
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: the kids killed. You know what I'm saying, like it's
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: just the blind leading the blind now. But back then,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: at that height, Magic City Club, Miami and all that shit.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Back then, Bro, Atlanta was beautiful. You you wanted to
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: be in Atlanta, and even when I got here, it
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: was still fun. You got here, I got here, oh no,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: oh nah, yeah, I still was having fun.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: Like I remember the first the first time that I
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: really well it was twine Walker was there the first time.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: He showed me some good time.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Man, I go to Magic City. I ended up going
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: in there and he got a briefcase. It's I ain't
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: you know from in the Annapolis, I ain't never seen
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: a briefcase full of ones. They bring the briefcase out
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: to me, open up things with ten thousand ones or something, and.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: They liken get that. Every Monday.
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: He like, young fella.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: He told me a thousand dollars, young fella and smooth
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: like that's my o G. I'm like, yeah, it's different.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: He come very Monday Monday. But we stayed in there.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Shout out to the a. They stayed in them.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I see. It was safe. It was safe.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: You ain't got around no cameras.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You like some of my
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Magic City, man, Well, it was like you don't hear
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: no stories that you've never heard, no stories about no
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: bullshit going on the Magic city because everybody was protecting
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: and safe. Everybody had a good time. Yeah, I seen
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: you what a couple of times showing a little you
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: be chilling. I was like, I ain't realized you was
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: that tall. Like when I got.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: Drafted, I ain't realized niggas was that tall?
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: You know? Yeah, point, I'm six and one.
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: I played the two sometimes when I got here and
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: I seen him, I'm like this nigga six' eight.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Like like, man, I ain't got no chance. Man, I
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: played the two sometimes cue he comes just running around niggas.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: I gotta ask me, like you said all the smoke man,
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: you and Matt went crazy?
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: How was that?
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: And I'm saying y'all had a relationship. Now y'all come
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: as business partners, like you said, trail bladers in the
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: situation with y'all knuckleheads. To see how y'all started to
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: where you is now? Man, Like, what's think about? How
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: is that feeling?
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Man?
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: To see how y'all progress so far?
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: It ain't nothing but guard bro.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: To be honest, bro, because you know, like, I ain't
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: no different to y'all. Ain't no different to y'all. A
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: lot of times, especially after the bath to our careers
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: in guys like me and Matt don't get these opportunities.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: They give them to the guys that was the stars,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: that was on the commercials and all that shit. Well,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: I think Guard just put us in the perfect time
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: because when me and Matt both decided to stop doing
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Fox at ESPN, we end up we ended up coming
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: up with all the smoke and we brought it to
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: a woman named Ellen Records. Ellen RecordsOn was the woman
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: who started Red Table Talk Red Table Talk and heard
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Matt like this. She ended up calling Brian Daily. Brian
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Day was the VP of Sports at Showtime. They was
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: looking for another sports show, but they didn't know they
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: wanted to have a sports show where didn't know about podcasts.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: We didn't even know about podcasts. When Matt told me bout,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: I'm like, what is it? And when Matt brought him
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: an idea, they said, cool, Matt, we'll do it with you.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: But we don't want Stephen Jackson. We heard a lot
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: of stuff about him. Matt was like, I ain't doing
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: anything at him. I'm not doing it. Shout out to Matt, real, yeah,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: I'm not doing it. And the first we do the
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: first photo shoot for it were smoking and ship were
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: smoking a shit on the photo show. I got my
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: shirt off like a rap album and sh hold up, man,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: hold on, hold on, hold on up. This might not work, man,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: we might not. I don't think we can. Show Time
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: we get behind this, but they got behind it, bro,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and you know, we end up cleaning it up a
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: little bit. We smoked on some shows, but we ended
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: up cleaning it up to the point where we ended
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: up doing the deal with our hard Fire Audio and
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: we ended up building our relationship with Showtime.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: So now we're five years in.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: So it ended up where five years in the podcasts
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: now Paramount buys Showtime. Yep, they buy and they want
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: to get rid of all of their properties, the social properties,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: the boxing, you know, and Showtime boxing was the biggest
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: thing that they had. Ye So during that time, Brian Daley,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: which is the VP, he knew that Showtime was about
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: to get brought out. So he had an idea with
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: him and Matt, let's start our own production company. So
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: while we were still with Showtime, we started building all
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: the smoke productions with they bred. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: start building all spoke production. And during that time, I
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: had got into boxing. While I started doing the weigh
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: ins for boxing, I started doing the interviews with tanking
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: tanks wanted me all this fights and shit like that.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: So I got to the box.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: So when we when Showtime had to buy, when Paramount
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: was buying us out, Brian finessed some type of way
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: where we own all Showtime Boxing properties now, so now
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Showtime Boxing's all the smoke fight and all the smoke boxing.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: So y'all, so we got we're finna be a big
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: player in the boxing space. Now we're going to put
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: on our own fights, taking that whole blueprint and doing
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: that now. So I think for us with the production
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: company show we have, we have a partnership with Draft
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Kings where we have a number of shows on the network.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I think just the fact that we were able to
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: build so much stuff from just starting with the podcast,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. That's why I disguise the
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: limit for y'all because y'all done so much in a
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: short time. But for us to be able to build
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: a boxing the podcast and a production company and start
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: doing live shows like that ain't number guard. But because
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: we didn't expect, we didn't know what we was doing.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: We didn't have no blueprint too it. We just just
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: jumped out there on the lead. But the timing and
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: everything worked to our fail you know with Paramount and
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: all like everything was so why I say it was
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: guard but because a lot of stuff that happened with us,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: it was just perfect time for us to.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Be where we are now. Did y'all put that better
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: in KG back?
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Yes, So we had a lot to do with KG Certified.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: You know, we have a show called Certified Smoke. What
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: we do across show with them, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: and were doing a lot of business. We was actually
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: producing their shows with all the Smoke production. I think
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: they going on and doing their own stuff now, you know,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: trying to do their own algorithm and stuff now. But
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: we still a founder. We still do Certified Smoke, but
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: definitely we definitely started them. We have the show with
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Rondo and Boogie Bully Ball. We have Rachel Nichols. You know,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: we're building some other properties now with all of them.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: On the boxing side. We have Andre Ward yes, yeah,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: and Roy Jones we just signed them. So it's been
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: a blessing. Man. We're just trying to continue the buildings
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: because they don't expect stuff like that happened from guys
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: like us. You know what I'm saying, They don't expect that,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: but I'll follow that anyway. I think Matt and Brian
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Brian Daya has been big for us because they have
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: that mindset. Like I haven't been in one meeting. I
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: haven't missed one check. You know what I'm saying. My
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: job ain't to be in the meets because I know
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: that ain't my specially I didn't go to school that
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: and with school for that ship. When it's time to
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: collect money, when it's time to show up and entertained,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I know my job. So everybody and our you know,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: a little small twelve people on our roster. You know,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: everybody got a job to do it. And I think
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: we depend on everybody to do their job because you know,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: everybody want to play their role and be a start
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: their own role.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: And that's one thing I think people don't realize, Like
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: with these opportunities, yeah it make start as a podcast.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: We have an opportunity for especially black entrepreneurs to.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: Build enterprises offices.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: If you said you're going to a showtime box, like
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: I kept seeing you at the box and stuff. So
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: now it's all making it makes sense. But that's dope,
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: like you getting collected intellectual properties that they don't give
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: us an opportunity to have. Look what had to happen
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: for y'all even have an opportunity because those cable networks
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: don't fail, they sell or they just get bigger. So
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: that's dope to see y'all capitalized on. It shows of
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: the business mind. Like you said, everybody play their part.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: That's the dope part.
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: Ain't nobody getting out of podcast, ain'tbody.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Getting too gritty, got an operation, got machine to keep going,
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: And it's dope to see that for y'all.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Man, we don't see that.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Bro.
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: He did this first thing with a cute choose, like
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: one of the pioneers kick this off, bro, Like how
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: did that come about?
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: So for me? Like when it for the Big d
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: first started, like I was excited because I knew how
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I was one of those guys that wanted to play basketball,
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: and I wasn't. I wasn't going overseas, you know what
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: I'm saying. I wasn't doing those shit like that, But
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I wanted to play right here and Q A lot
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: of the guys that Q like watching play, was retiring
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: and leaving the game. So when he when he started
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: the League's like, bro, I want to start this league.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I want to do a combine in Vegas just to
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: see what the league was like. So during that time
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: I was doing two days, I was working that hard.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Eye got swollen like I because I got back into
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: that mode. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: I got back into the basketball mode.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: And when we got there, I seen a lot of
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: guys wasn't in shape, and I've seen a lot of
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: guys thinking like man, I'm just gonna get this check
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: guaranteed ten thousand the league. I ain't gonna work. I
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: was gonna show up and get this money. No you're not. Yeah,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: first game in first day, while they having the combine,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Cube asked me and al and Contino and Cormac get
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: it played like a just like a test game to
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: see what the what the league would be like. And
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I took that shit too serious. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: because I did. You know what I'm saying, because I
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: really wanted to set the tone because I seen how
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: niggas was approaching this shit, how they were showing up
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: all fat and out of shape, and like I'm not
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: finna be like if y'all gonna show up like this,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: and I'm gonna give everybody one hundred points every night.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying That that was my attitude tone,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So that scrimmage, I was
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: talking you know, me and our best friends. I was
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: calling Aur bitches, cursing him out like we was like
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: with me and Coy's brothers, like we was going at
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: each other for that list short time. But everybody, like
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: one hundred people in the gym, everybody saw like, Hey,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: this is what the league gonna be like. And Q
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: was excited, Like that's what I needed. That's what I needed,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: And I was happy to not only play in the
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: Big Three, but shit, we all looked up to Ice Q,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: like I look up the fucking Q. How could I
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: not be in his league? And the fact that he
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: said I had a big part of you know what
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like that meant everything to me. Dog. So
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: that's why I still coach. Now, that's why I'm still
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: involved in the league now, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: because I know where he wants to go with the league,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: and we all have an opportunity to benefit off so great.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, something that the black person
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: is building. So I'm gonna always be down with you,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. If even if it's just
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: coaching all like I'm doing now, I'm a big part
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: of the league.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: He said that half court bigger than bullshit.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: At first one I said s court.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: He was like he thought that ship was easy. Then
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I was like, hell yeah, bro, I used to my
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: first my years playing all my points was on the block.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I hit a couple of threes, but I was I'm
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: a big two guard, So regardless of nine ten of
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: the people that I play against in the Big three,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I'm going to have advantage on the block, you know
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And I abused that ship. That's how
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: that's how I had success. But when Joe came, it
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: was over. I ain't the biggest Joe punishing everybody said
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: six two sixty with the hat, all that he had,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: all he had it all. You know, That's been my
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: nemmesis my whole career, though Joe's bust my ass, my whole.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: That's one that we used to go.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: But like Joe.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Joe spunk me around. Joe spun me around one time.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: Oh I do remember that.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Because like you can have a string, like like why
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: you'd be so hyped.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Like a foul happened.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to follow him because he'slumbing around like
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: nobody never fall. I made me stumble and Joe swimming around.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: It ain't nobody never made me fall. You know who
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: made me fall?
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Flip?
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: He made me fall my first preseason game. He was
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: on the Bobcats. He had was in Atlanta the year
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: before and they ain't pick up his house. I was
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: on the team first preseason game. He went snatched back.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: I looked at the bench.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Joe Smith had a towel like this smooth was like
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: this baby was standing up to the league. I was hurt.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: I was playing defense so hard.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: The next possession, dude like school, you know, flipping like
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: it was the bucket. Get it.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: That's another underwriting for sure. Did y'all win that ship
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: the first year the Big Three? No, No, so I wasn't.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: I wasn't gonna kill the threes at that time. Trilogy
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: went in and oh that's they went Sean mccamp al
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: and Mashaan Mkantz walked everybody down for ten games twenty five.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: You get twenty five, I get twenty five and nobody
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: could goud My Hour and rashawma Camp's go can stop.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: For that first year, they dominated that pressure.
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: Isaiah was playing this year on your town. I was like, nigga,
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: you're gonna post up the whole game and out here,
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: you like, make these.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: Gonna make you chase them out there, these motherfuckers. You
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: know what I'm saying.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Way I'm down.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: I said the fuck this in this game. And he stopped.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: He stopped posting up.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: And guess what happened.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: They walked us down.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: They walked us down, and he got tired.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: I told him, say, boy, you try to go out
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: these niggas out here.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: I went out it.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: You're gonna be tied. I guess what he did at
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: that the game, dumb file because he was tied to
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: walk us down. We're not a fast team. We got
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: to use our size. They walked us down.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: It's a big moment in the three.
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: That's a that's a historic Big three game right there.
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: You speak on the moment, you.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so so what people don't know? So that's that's
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: one of my best friends in the world. We talk
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: all the time. So it was just a moment where
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: two competitors. So o Oak wants to win just as
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: bad as I do. We was in Texas, so I
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: feel like anyway in Texas, I can get anybody murdered.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: That's just how I feel.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: I'm not live in Texas. You know what I mean.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: I'm just keeping it real.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: You know what I'm say. If I wanted to, I'm
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: a peace I'm a peace with everybody. But if I
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: wanted to, I could make some shit happen in texts.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I was My adrenaline was pumping.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: His adrenaline was pumping. He took me out the game
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: because I was larking the refs. He's like, man, get
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: back in the game, Like I told him something, And
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: it was like I said something, I'm going back in
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: the games. Like no, you're not. I'm like, who's gonna
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: stop me? He's like, I'm gonna stop him. Nigga. You
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: know where you went. I'm just reminded Texas Nigga came
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: back with the hardest shit ever. I'm like American Airlines,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I'm everywhere we're going, we're going back and forth to it.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: He knew what he was doing because I because I
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: got mad when I did not end up winning the game,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: and we had the bar together right after not even
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: talking about it. But that's just our passion for wanting
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: to win, you know what I'm saying. Like he knew
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: he needed me in the game for us to win.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I wouldn't understand that my
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: drelling was pumping, But that's my guy. Now, that's that's
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: just two fiery guys, you know what I'm saying, trying
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: to win and just emotions balled over. But that's nobody
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: respect more than Charles.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: Og before we got here. Man, tell the people, you
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: know what I'm saying, your entrepreneurs, I got the liquor.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: On the way for the people.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: Man appreciate that. We have a mess cow that just
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: dropped called the NEOs Uh. It's in like, uh ten
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: ten to fifteen states right now. It's not in Atlanta yet,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: but it's on the west coast of New York that
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: we sold out already in l A. And we also
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: have a coffee table book. The first podcast with a
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: coffee table book with Smith with Smith and Shuster call
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: all the Smoke Coffee table. That's all right now as well, so.
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: We got we gotta put it on the desk that
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: don't nobody like.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Club.
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: I need to be a part of that liquor brand.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and we need to do a collabor with y'all.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Y'all man shout to all the Smoke team, Matt, Brian, Johnnie.
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: Shout always show a little bit, get me some of
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: bucks early on the podcast game too.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: And then let me let me say this too, bro like,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: I'm glad y'all doing the show because a lot of
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: people think like me and Matt always try to say
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: it on our show like it ain't no competition. That's
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: why I y'all look at my Instagram. I'll be shopping
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: out all kinds of shows all the time, different shows
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: and shows that I don't even people that don't even know,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: because I want people to know it's enough for all
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: of us out that they no competition. They won't they
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: want us to think because we're all black and we
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: all have this certain talent to be in front of
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: this camera and to draw people in that we're in competition.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: We're not in competition because we all have our own
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: different stories and people, and our stories are different. So
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I want people to understand that your voice is just
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: as big as anybody else's voice. You know. Just believe
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: in your ship. And that's why I'm glad you're doing
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: y'all shit, bro, and I'm honored to be here.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: I'm glad we're gonna do this again.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Man. Before we got out of here, we got asked
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: me about it.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: The VP. Oh, the VP. Oh that was that's a
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: good question. So I didn't want so me and Matt
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: argued for four days. When I got to what we
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: did it? Baby? What we do at uh? In DC?
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: We went to the VP house. When I got there,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: Matt was calling me to this true story. He was
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: calling me to come out to eat. I'm not I'm
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: screening his phone call. I don't want to be here, nigga.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: I don't want to be in politics. I don't want
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: to do this on my line. Baby. We at home,
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: me and Matt arguing, like we arguing about the shit
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: because the people that support me are not They look
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: at how I look. He at it like answers to
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: equality and to making America the way it's supposed to
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: be is not rocket science. It's not rocket science. Bro,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: y'all know how to give equality, to make people equal,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: just just how y'all put people ahead of us. So
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: the same way to do that is to make it
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: equality is real simple, dog, Just give people what they need.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: It's not rocket science.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: So that's why I don't want to be in politics,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: because there's a lot of hope dealing. That's the end
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: of the day. They then to hope them. They ain't
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: into actually trying to fix shit. They want you to
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: make They want to make you think that they got
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: the ideas or they got plans to fix shit, and
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: shit never gets fixed. So that's why I didn't want
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: to be in politics. And I seen the first hand
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: with the George Fard situation. So when Matt was telling
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: me about going to interview to VP, I'm not with
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: it because the people that support me feel the same
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: way I feel. I don't trust up. I know it's
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: all bullshit. Nobody is really for us. I'm the president
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: of my household, you know what I'm saying. I don't
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: give a fuck about who the president. I'm the president
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: of my shit, you know what I'm saying. And That's
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: how I looked at it. So Matt's looking at it
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: as my business side. What is gonna do for our show?
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: What's gonna do fire production Company? I'm not thinking that man,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: fuck that, you know, I'm not you know, So the
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: hope even the day before, She'll tell you, I'm in
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: my room, Matt is calling me to come prep. Nigga.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: I'm not asking her phone No, nigga, I can. I
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: can show you messages. I'm gonna show you'll. Let's let
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: you know how real it is, nigga, because y'all my patners.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna say you how this, This is how I
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: was doing him when he was sending me to the messages. Bro,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna show you how I was doing him.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: Hey, you don't want to hear about the collar greens, nigga.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: In the tub, Nigga, I don't want to hear about
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: not want to he Okay, Bro, I'm gonna show you
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: this is the message my brother was sending me.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: Look, hold on, hold on, hold on, holo, hold Look,
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: he texted. He teld me something. I say. He said,
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: I don't want to look.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: He say, So, you're not gonna you're gonna power and
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: ignore me the whole time.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: You don't want to smoke.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I don't want to smoke, don't want to hang out,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: don't want.
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: To eat nothing.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Do my job. Look, do my job and be out.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Nigga, He say, big, you want to play CEO D
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: trying to be funny.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Nigga. Look, I'm seeing me in an asshole. I'm seeing
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: a video an asshole. You know what I'm saying. I
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: was not talking to him, dogg. So even look Matt
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: said on show that even when we got to the
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: BP house, I'm sitting in there like this. You know me, Jason,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I was mostly on my sleeve. Boy, I can't high.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I'm I don't want to be here because I know
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: perfect example, I told him that's my wife. I said,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: why don't you go do it? They came back. We
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: don't want to do it without him. Because I'm the
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: face of the biggest civil rights movement ever with the
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: George Floyd Ship. I know why y'all want me there,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: using me as a pawn. I know what you're doing.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Everybody else might not see it, but I see it.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, and I wanted the benefit
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: from the ship. I'm not thinking business wise. Well, I'm
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: glad I did that ship. You know how much shit
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: came for much doing the interview, all kind of ship coming.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: And so Matt was right, and I always follow him
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: with business, you know what I'm saying. But I did
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: not want it, and I still don't want to be
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: in politics, you know what I'm saying. But let me
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: say this too. They say, what's your wife of voting?
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I found my why? What is it? And let me
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: tell you why. I found my why. I can't talk
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: too much about it, but I was recently tased by
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: the police from behind. I got stitches in my chin
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: right now, tased from behind just because I was a
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: big guy. Recently, Bro and me seeing that George Floyd
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: shit dealing with the police and artist and how they
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: was treating me. Donald Trump is talking about giving police immunity.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: So I found my why. I can't live my life
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: with the police treating y'all, my sons or anybody the
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: way they planning to treat us. Bro. So that's my
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: wife for voting. I just found my why, especially after
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: how they treated me.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: I wouldn't even know no dumb shit.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: He tased me.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: He told me tats because I was a big guy.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: Got I broke two teeth in the back, all that
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: and get So I'm just that that's my wife, especially
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: since being throughing it now. I never voted. I don't
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: believe in politics, but if I had to vote, that
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: would be my why because I don't want him to
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: get police community because they're already treating us like ship.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Just imagine what they're gonna do if they know they
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: can get away.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: With it right straight up, We're gonna have all my
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: conversation about that situation.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: Shout the freaky Mike, Yeah, shout out to some collar Greens.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Come on, man, hey, I did hear that story.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Now, I've been in call of Greens all my life.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: I've never seen him getting.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Cleaning the bathtub. They take this nigga, Come on, told youth,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: I'm sorry every show, bro, when have you seeing anybody
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: clean grings? They're gonna feel that sync up on both sides.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: They gonna feel that sup on both sides. Nobody's going
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: to the bathroom in the ketching niggas Greens in the tub, man,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: come on, he's hey. Next time somebody asks her who
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: her favorite rapper is rapper is? It can't be Tupac
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: because they say, who's your favorite rapper that's alive?
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: And she said Tupac. I know what she meant.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: She ain't no judging for that. We ain't tell me.
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: Regress of her.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: Chest clubfour twenty dot com.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: We got merchandile baby, We.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: Live till next time. Appreciate yall
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: The volume
