Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm your host, Colleen Witt, and today we have a
- 0:06Speaker 1: very special TV host, entrepreneur podcaster that Beach exactly very
- 0:13Speaker 1: special guests I do.
- 0:15Speaker 2: We just have to end up bleeping them out for sol.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Do you believe about your social talk?
- 0:19Speaker 3: No?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Sorry, well I heard it. It messes with the algorithms.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Oh that's probably true.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Maybe that's why we haven't.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Weezy is from Horrible Decisions. She also has a TV
- 0:53Speaker 1: show called Sex Cells, and she.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Is an entrepreneur.
- 0:57Speaker 1: She owns podcast recording studios in New York. And am
- 1:00Speaker 1: I missing a market?
- 1:01Speaker 3: Not yet? If you recorded me in two months, you would.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Be okay hopefully, Alana and I real know, okay, okay,
- 1:10Speaker 1: but I'm really excited to have Weezy. I met you
- 1:13Speaker 1: probably over a year ago, and literally like, I just
- 1:16Speaker 1: I love everything you're about and I plan to take notes.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Oh okay, but what do you have us eating as
- 1:23Speaker 2: your broke dish today?
- 1:24Speaker 3: Well, my broke dish today is gourmet maca cheese because
- 1:28Speaker 3: I feel like, well, gourmet meat and macajeese because I
- 1:32Speaker 3: don't like to say hot dogs. It sounds cheap, and
- 1:34Speaker 3: the meal is cheap, But like when broke, I was like,
- 1:37Speaker 3: I need to feel full fast, and I always thought
- 1:40Speaker 3: that was like a protein and carbs, and so hot
- 1:43Speaker 3: dogs and macaroni and cheese like the easiest thing, even
- 1:46Speaker 3: though by itself, I feel like it tastes like shit.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So I just tried to dress it up what I had.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw that.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I saw these extra ingredients, and I didn't know which
- 1:55Speaker 1: direction your meal was going. So for our listeners, can
- 1:58Speaker 1: you say what is in.
- 1:59Speaker 2: The gourmet mecha cheese?
- 2:01Speaker 3: So I'm gonna be real with you. Allive oil is
- 2:03Speaker 3: very expensive when your rope like this is what eight
- 2:06Speaker 3: dollars for this? Maybe ten?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Probably?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, So I would use criscal but virgin olive oil. Lorry,
- 2:15Speaker 3: I don't know how to say his name, but Tony Shiericus,
- 2:18Speaker 3: I just call it Tony seasoning, Tony creole. So we
- 2:21Speaker 3: have the mixing bowls. I don't know why.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Oh I thought you were gonna drain the mac and
- 2:26Speaker 2: cheese water.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I didn't even have a bad I didn't
- 2:30Speaker 3: have a what's it called. I would take the top,
- 2:34Speaker 3: pour it out.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Okay, we usually do that on the show. By the way,
- 2:37Speaker 1: this is just a fruit strainer.
- 2:39Speaker 2: But go on, what's the ingredients?
- 2:40Speaker 3: I like Nathan's. I'm not sure why. Hebrew National wasn't
- 2:44Speaker 3: my thing, but Nathan's was like the skinny ones. Like Nathan's,
- 2:47Speaker 3: We've got the cutting board of the knife so that
- 2:49Speaker 3: you can slice up the hot dogs, onions, butter, and milk.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Now it's funny because I've done mac and cheese before.
- 2:59Speaker 1: In my greatest accomplishment was adding tuna to the mac
- 3:02Speaker 1: and cheese. Okay, but I am excited because there's so much.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Don't go together. So I think it's the loster mac
- 3:10Speaker 3: and cheese and that's it.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Hey, I was broke. I didn't. I don't even know there.
- 3:15Speaker 5: You know.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But but no, I'm excited because this is my first
- 3:20Speaker 1: time ever in the history of living on this earth
- 3:23Speaker 1: having gourmet mac and cheese.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And it's really cool.
- 3:26Speaker 3: You know what I actually put in myra?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Look you getting all hyped into it? What what?
- 3:31Speaker 3: Okay? Now that I'm getting money when I make Gromet
- 3:34Speaker 3: mac and cheese for overall, I put like five different
- 3:36Speaker 3: type of cheeses in it, and I put a little
- 3:38Speaker 3: bit of beer whenever I Yes, I can't remember where
- 3:42Speaker 3: I learned about the beer from. But it's something about
- 3:44Speaker 3: the yeast and the beer. Oh my god, you can
- 3:46Speaker 3: taste it. It's so good. Beer costs extra money, so
- 3:49Speaker 3: I felt like I shouldn't added that.
- 3:50Speaker 1: No, no, but that's your But you now that you
- 3:53Speaker 1: make money, you actually.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Do to a still a twist on gormet maca cheer.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you're hilarious. My mom hates it. She's like,
- 4:04Speaker 3: this is so ridiculous because every Thanksgiving we have hers,
- 4:07Speaker 3: which is classic big mac burn at the top, and
- 4:09Speaker 3: then mine is the bougie back.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And you're mixed, right, So is your mom black?
- 4:14Speaker 3: My mom is black and my dad's is really okay,
- 4:16Speaker 3: maybe it should be Hebrew national.
- 4:18Speaker 2: You're hilarious.
- 4:19Speaker 1: My dad is Jewish and my mom is Jamaican. So
- 4:22Speaker 1: I have the same black and white mix because I
- 4:25Speaker 1: never ever meet it where the mom is black and
- 4:27Speaker 1: the dad is white. Whenever I see someone like that,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, that's crazy, all right.
- 4:33Speaker 3: You always see the other people was like, you're like
- 4:35Speaker 3: black and Jewish, You're like Drake.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Well, it used to be Lenny was the big thing
- 4:41Speaker 1: back in the day. People don't know nothing, You not
- 4:44Speaker 1: these young kids. But all right, weezy. So I am
- 4:47Speaker 1: dying to try this gourmet mac.
- 4:49Speaker 3: So come away. It's not gonna be good. Why you
- 4:52Speaker 3: say that, because think about the stuff we eat today.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I mean, you eat shitty meals all the time.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Oh let me tell you. I'm getting to the point
- 5:00Speaker 1: where I'm gonna start rating it. And I've been because
- 5:03Speaker 1: I've been pretty nice. Someone made tuna castrole.
- 5:07Speaker 2: It's gonna get me caught up. But this it was.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Literally it's tuna castrole and the pickled egg is the
- 5:15Speaker 1: worst dish for me on the on the shell.
- 5:17Speaker 2: If people said the worst pickled eg? Have you had
- 5:20Speaker 2: a pickled egg?
- 5:21Speaker 3: I thought castroles are for Caucasians. And this is the
- 5:23Speaker 3: Black Blact Network. It was.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was two black sisters that owned a all black
- 5:30Speaker 1: owned store that carries all black owned and they made
- 5:34Speaker 1: a tuna castrole and it was absolutely that's terrible.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Putting the olive oil in the pan for the onions
- 5:41Speaker 3: because I like it to.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Caramel lote, okay, okay, But.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Also I'm gonna boil the hot dogs, start boiling the macacheese.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And while that's boiling, that's where I'd just be trying
- 5:51Speaker 3: to get the flavor with the onions, and shit tastes
- 5:54Speaker 3: like extra.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I just learned the other day that some people seasoned
- 5:59Speaker 2: the onions. Are you one of those people?
- 6:01Speaker 4: No?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Am I Karen? Now it was it was a black girl. Damn,
- 6:09Speaker 3: I don't know. That's what I'm saying. I expect her
- 6:11Speaker 3: to be black.
- 6:12Speaker 2: You you said you're a carot. You want to know.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Something that's just too black? My mom, every time she
- 6:19Speaker 3: watches my dog, won't feed the dog dog food. It's
- 6:22Speaker 3: only like chicken, right, And I was like, Mom, why
- 6:25Speaker 3: is that chicken color different? Oh well, it has a
- 6:28Speaker 3: little garlic powder and just a little season on it.
- 6:30Speaker 2: She seas in the dog's foods there's too bland, no way.
- 6:35Speaker 3: And every time I got the dog be peen out
- 6:39Speaker 3: of its ask. Actually, there's a very special day and
- 6:42Speaker 3: week for me. By the way, my parents, I moved
- 6:45Speaker 3: them to LA so they're flying tonight.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You moved them.
- 6:49Speaker 3: They live in Orlando, so literally I'm New York Orlando, LA.
- 6:54Speaker 3: And I was like, I can't do this triangle. It's
- 6:56Speaker 3: got to be one back and forth, okay. So I
- 6:58Speaker 3: just wanted them closer to me, so that that to
- 7:00Speaker 3: me was like a big life goal that's summer Orlando.
- 7:03Speaker 1: First of all, that's a yeah, cause it would have
- 7:05Speaker 1: been cheaper to move from LA to Orlando.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You moved them to a more expensive market.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I want them to be closer to me. This is
- 7:13Speaker 3: where all my work is happening. And like, yeah, I mean,
- 7:16Speaker 3: Orlando's where I'm from. So it was Honda Go on
- 7:21Speaker 3: my birthday this year. I went to suspend it with
- 7:23Speaker 3: my father. My dad, he's in a wheelchair, so it's
- 7:26Speaker 3: a lot more difficult for him to visit me like
- 7:28Speaker 3: my mom does. People probably see my mom all over
- 7:30Speaker 3: my content. But my dad was like, damn, I wish
- 7:32Speaker 3: I could watch TV with you all the time. I
- 7:34Speaker 3: wish we could have these moments together, Like I wish
- 7:37Speaker 3: I could be in LA with you and your mom.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And I was like, well, shit, you guys could be there,
- 7:42Speaker 3: and so yeah, I mean to me, it's crazy to
- 7:45Speaker 3: make this meal today. I actually walked by a T
- 7:47Speaker 3: Mobile store, which was my last job, to walk by
- 7:50Speaker 3: a T Mobile store making the meal. I made it
- 7:51Speaker 3: when I was broken. I'm literally able to afford to
- 7:53Speaker 3: move my parents here, but who knows, maybe they gonna
- 7:55Speaker 3: spend so much money I'm gonna have to eat this
- 7:57Speaker 3: shit again.
- 7:57Speaker 1: No, no, but you're making like really big moves.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I was.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm so excited about having this conversation with you because
- 8:07Speaker 1: knowing that you came from Brokeness and seeing like you're
- 8:10Speaker 1: making like chess moves like effortlessly. So when I say like,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm pulling out the pen like, I've been working for
- 8:18Speaker 1: myself for a long time, but I definitely don't make
- 8:21Speaker 1: the type of money that I need to make. I'm
- 8:24Speaker 1: still in the Jamaican like two thousand here, five thousand here,
- 8:28Speaker 1: three thousand here equals twelve thousand. You know what I'm saying.
- 8:32Speaker 1: But I'm not at the point where I'm playing chess.
- 8:34Speaker 1: So I'm literally excited about this episode because we're all
- 8:39Speaker 1: about to get took to.
- 8:40Speaker 2: School, you, I hope. So yeah, So I hope.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I do the due deal with just tell us what
- 8:44Speaker 1: was going on when you were making Gourmet mac and Cheese,
- 8:47Speaker 1: the original, So I'll.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Tell you this, coming from Brokeness was.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Something that I thought you were gonna put the sorry.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I thought you were going to do the smaller pan
- 8:56Speaker 1: for the hot dogs, and I had your pan for.
- 8:58Speaker 3: That want of them first.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I don't know if they you're gonna boil him in
- 9:02Speaker 2: the mac and cheese.
- 9:03Speaker 3: This is the maca cheese potting.
- 9:05Speaker 2: No, it was the other because that pot small. I
- 9:08Speaker 2: love you.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm making my own okay, I'm staying out of the kitchen.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Said you're gonna take.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Just so you know, every time I get involved in
- 9:17Speaker 1: the kitchen, I burned someone's dish. So I need to
- 9:19Speaker 1: stay in my life, okay, okay, mae, yeah, because I've
- 9:23Speaker 1: been burning stuff on people's own meals, all right, So
- 9:27Speaker 1: so tell me what was going on.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So I actually grew up with money and there was
- 9:32Speaker 3: a stock market crash that happened that lost my parents
- 9:35Speaker 3: some money, and then my dad ended up having a
- 9:38Speaker 3: stroke that kept him out of work. And so after that,
- 9:43Speaker 3: I ended up dating a guy. It was just like
- 9:47Speaker 3: rich boyfriend that was paying for my school and then
- 9:50Speaker 3: he was very abusive. Broke up with him and then
- 9:53Speaker 3: that stopped. My parents couldn't really afford to college. I
- 9:56Speaker 3: had to help them out because my dad had this stroke.
- 9:58Speaker 3: So started working at the mall, White House black market
- 10:02Speaker 3: clothing stores like a hand tailor.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Bike yeah, yeah, a little bit high play, yeah, high class.
- 10:07Speaker 3: That's my first I did, did you steal anything from them?
- 10:09Speaker 3: Like a few things? Okay, good, good, But then I
- 10:11Speaker 3: realized once I had to stop, I wasn't like stealing
- 10:14Speaker 3: for real, for real, Okay, it was just a little shit.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And then one day I wore something to work and
- 10:19Speaker 3: she was like, I didn't know you got that dress,
- 10:20Speaker 3: and I was like, ah. The craziest thing was I
- 10:23Speaker 3: went to jail and ended up having it was for
- 10:25Speaker 3: my license. Everybody thinks it was something worse. It was
- 10:28Speaker 3: for my license, and I had a GPS monitor on
- 10:33Speaker 3: my foot, and so I had to always wear Maxi
- 10:36Speaker 3: dresses to work, or like super big boots.
- 10:39Speaker 2: To cover you got one of those ankle monitors.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Yes, no way, all working at my house like market.
- 10:44Speaker 3: It was terrible. So then I think I was helping
- 10:46Speaker 3: a woman that worked at a T mobile store and
- 10:48Speaker 3: I was selling her mad shit. She's like, you're really
- 10:50Speaker 3: good at sales. How much she's making here. I don't
- 10:53Speaker 3: remember what it was, fucking ten dollars an hour, but
- 10:54Speaker 3: my commission would be good, so it'd be up to
- 10:56Speaker 3: twenty or thirty. And she was like, I can make
- 10:58Speaker 3: you double a tea mobile with the way you saw.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Oh now, I knew nothing about cel phone. She's like,
- 11:03Speaker 3: you don't have to just have to be cute. It's
- 11:05Speaker 3: funny because I went on a date the other day,
- 11:07Speaker 3: this nigga said, you look like a bitch. She used
- 11:08Speaker 3: to work its emobile. I used to tie my little
- 11:11Speaker 3: shirt up like this and be like, what kind of
- 11:13Speaker 3: on y'all want? I was gonna sell it to all
- 11:17Speaker 3: the top niggas, the prepaid lines in the box because
- 11:21Speaker 3: you weren't supposed to legally sell them a new number
- 11:24Speaker 3: every month. Oh, so niggas would come in. I just
- 11:26Speaker 3: fucking keeps wiping the shit whatever. So ended up being
- 11:30Speaker 3: so good at T mobile selling shit. I think my
- 11:33Speaker 3: first year working there, I was like twenty two twenty three.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I made like ninety thousand dollars. Get the heck out crazy.
- 11:39Speaker 3: They don't pay it over that way no more. Yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 3: but like I was selling selling something. The iPhone was
- 11:43Speaker 3: hot back then, and it just came out and literally
- 11:47Speaker 3: was fucking flying to Europe, just like experiencing life. Living
- 11:50Speaker 3: life still had a shitty car with windows, didn't go down,
- 11:52Speaker 3: But I just spent all my money and experiences, and
- 11:55Speaker 3: what I realized from those experiences, like, oh, I got
- 11:57Speaker 3: to get more and more and more. Every time you
- 11:59Speaker 3: taste a little bit of luxury, now you need more
- 12:02Speaker 3: and more and more, you know. So from there, ended
- 12:05Speaker 3: up training T Mobile staff in Florida. Then I ended
- 12:09Speaker 3: up managing a store, and then they moved me to
- 12:11Speaker 3: New York to work in corporate. And now not saying
- 12:15Speaker 3: I couldn't have made it to New York alone, but
- 12:16Speaker 3: I did have a sugar daddy then.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Okay, And so he was like a legit sugar daddy,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like what you envisioned in the movies, Like he wasn't
- 12:23Speaker 1: that hot, and he had paper.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Oh he paper, Oh yeah, like some bitches have a
- 12:26Speaker 3: sugar daddy. I I he had a.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Plane, he had he had a plane.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yes, Oh he was like legit okay, Oh my god.
- 12:32Speaker 3: He was so rich. And I met him working in
- 12:34Speaker 3: mother fucking T Mobile. He came in, he had like
- 12:36Speaker 3: three hundred lines for his company and he was like,
- 12:39Speaker 3: I'm with Rise and Da Da Da, but his daughter
- 12:41Speaker 3: wanted something that was only a T mobile. I was like,
- 12:43Speaker 3: why don't you move your lines over? And he's like, honey,
- 12:45Speaker 3: I don't do T Mobile Like this is that's very
- 12:48Speaker 3: so I think I saved him like twenty five grand
- 12:50Speaker 3: a month, and he said he was gonna give me
- 12:51Speaker 3: a gift and I told him. He's like, what are
- 12:54Speaker 3: you doing this week? I was like, I'm gonna go
- 12:55Speaker 3: see Beyonce Miami. He was the Formation tour.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:58Speaker 3: He's like, how are you gonna get there? I'm like
- 12:59Speaker 3: gonna drive my friends. She's like, take my jet, and
- 13:03Speaker 3: I remember my friend's like, oh I got you gotta
- 13:04Speaker 3: suck that owd man. We got on that jet and
- 13:06Speaker 3: it was like, bitch'll suck a thick cot And so
- 13:09Speaker 3: that was like my first entry into whole ho ho
- 13:12Speaker 3: sheit okay, okay, got me this insane apartment in New York.
- 13:16Speaker 2: It was like, wait, he was doing that too.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Oh you're saying. When he knew I was gonna leave Orlando,
- 13:20Speaker 3: He's like, sweetie, I can't have you leave me. I
- 13:23Speaker 3: was thinking about getting a place in New York. Anyway.
- 13:25Speaker 3: He's like, where were you gonna move? I was like Manhattan.
- 13:27Speaker 3: He goes that means Harlem, which was true. So I
- 13:31Speaker 3: was Midtown fifty fourth and eighth. And it's so funny
- 13:35Speaker 3: because my mom came to visit me and the address
- 13:37Speaker 3: was two sixty West fifty fourth or two sixty spy.
- 13:40Speaker 3: My mom got to my apartment, she goes, oh my god,
- 13:43Speaker 3: it's Tudio fifty four is right there. She's like, that's
- 13:46Speaker 3: where I was going, That's where I was meeting these
- 13:48Speaker 3: rich guys. You're turning into me. She was so proud
- 13:51Speaker 3: of me, And I think, what's funny is my mom
- 13:54Speaker 3: always wanted me to.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Be such a good personality. Couldn't wear your personality?
- 13:58Speaker 3: Okay, my mom always wanted me to be with a
- 14:00Speaker 3: always wanted me to be taken care of. And like,
- 14:02Speaker 3: it's so crazy because now I'm the rich guy, you know,
- 14:06Speaker 3: And I don't think she expected it, but it's just amazing.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Like I never thought i'd get here. I always kind
- 14:12Speaker 3: of thought and she would say to me, you're gonna
- 14:14Speaker 3: get married, You're gonna have a big house, and you're
- 14:15Speaker 3: gonna move me and your dad in the guest house.
- 14:18Speaker 3: It's gonna be so great. And like literally I'm moving
- 14:20Speaker 3: them into a place down the street from me.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, without an e.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But how does it not that I also say that
- 14:25Speaker 1: now you're the rich guy, Like when you do you
- 14:29Speaker 1: this obviously is in the first time you said it
- 14:31Speaker 1: is it when did you have the epiphany that you.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Were the rich guy? I damn, that's a good feeling.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I can't wait to have that feeling.
- 14:38Speaker 3: It was, It wasn't the first time I felt that was.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I was in Paris with my mom and I took
- 14:44Speaker 3: her for a birthday and I wanted to fly her
- 14:46Speaker 3: first class, but I use like an upgrade to getting
- 14:49Speaker 3: points then, you know, because like first class, I'd be
- 14:51Speaker 3: like ten fifteen thousand for them. Lay down. And when
- 14:54Speaker 3: we got there, we get to the hotel and it
- 14:57Speaker 3: was really nice, and she's like, oh, what's our room? Like, oh,
- 14:59Speaker 3: are we have two separate rooms? And every little thing
- 15:02Speaker 3: my mom was starting to count in her head, like
- 15:04Speaker 3: how much was my daughter making?
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah, she said, we.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Got our own rooms. Okay. Then we go to the store.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I'm like, you want something, I'll just get a lipstick.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I'm like, no, Mom, you can get more. You can
- 15:12Speaker 3: get a bag.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Your mom was like, what the break is happening?
- 15:16Speaker 3: She was bugging out. And then we walk outside of
- 15:18Speaker 3: the protest store and there's a hotel very famous called
- 15:21Speaker 3: the Plaza A. My mom was telling me how princes
- 15:24Speaker 3: would take her to dinner there. When she was young
- 15:26Speaker 3: and she would meet all these guys when she was
- 15:28Speaker 3: traveling in Europe and this was like the place to go.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I was like, oh, do you want to have dinner there?
- 15:32Speaker 3: And that was when like it hit my mom. She
- 15:33Speaker 3: got really emotional and she's like, I cannot fucking believe
- 15:36Speaker 3: I'm doing this with you. My mom is seventy seventieth
- 15:39Speaker 3: birthday at the time.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Oh, you said stay out the lane, so I'm staying.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I'm watching it.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I get cooked for.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Her now, Yo. You ain't been in the kitchen in
- 15:51Speaker 2: a while.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I cooked this morning.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yo, I'm sorry you told me that. You told me
- 15:56Speaker 2: to stay out the kitchen, and.
- 15:57Speaker 1: We almost about to burn down the whole even know
- 16:00Speaker 1: if you don't on there to be on the wood part.
- 16:03Speaker 3: No, I can't. I was looking for another conterract. Okay,
- 16:05Speaker 3: I'll move it to this one the ale I tried to.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I love it, No, but it was.
- 16:12Speaker 3: It was beautiful because my mom really was just so
- 16:14Speaker 3: excited for me, so proud of me. I do remember,
- 16:18Speaker 3: you know, we still niggas at the end of the day,
- 16:20Speaker 3: Like we sitting here with these fucking Louis bags and
- 16:22Speaker 3: all these expensive shopping bags and literally, my mom orders
- 16:25Speaker 3: a drink. She looks at me and she said, oh shit,
- 16:27Speaker 3: that was forty three dollars. She was let me sip slow.
- 16:31Speaker 3: But it's really great because for me, like I don't
- 16:33Speaker 3: have kids yet, so like spoiling my parents just it's
- 16:37Speaker 3: like dream come true. Shit for me.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I can only imagine.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I really really have wanted this for myself my life,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and like I love doing it for my mom. My
- 16:45Speaker 3: mom thinks I'm Beyonce. Like if we walk into a
- 16:47Speaker 3: place and can't get in, like you don't know how
- 16:49Speaker 3: my daughter is called Charlemagne. It's just my mom is
- 16:54Speaker 3: like my daughter's on TV and they're like, really, what anfuse?
- 17:00Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean I feel really proud to do that.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Hell yeah, and they come tonight. This is a big
- 17:06Speaker 1: freaking deal.
- 17:07Speaker 3: She's gonna get her nerves well.
- 17:09Speaker 2: And luckily you moved it right down the street.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I did.
- 17:12Speaker 5: So.
- 17:12Speaker 3: My mom wanted to get rid of her car. She
- 17:14Speaker 3: was like, I think I'm getting old. She had a
- 17:16Speaker 3: little moment. We were looking for her apartment and she
- 17:19Speaker 3: saw me parallel park. She started crying. I'm like, what's
- 17:21Speaker 3: wrong with you? She's like, I'm older than I thought.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I don't know if I can do this shit. I
- 17:25Speaker 3: got to get rid of my car, like I'm an
- 17:27Speaker 3: old lady. What if I hit somebody? Thought? And so
- 17:30Speaker 3: we sold her car. And I'm a little nervous because
- 17:32Speaker 3: you know, parents don't want to give up too much
- 17:34Speaker 3: of their autonomy. They need to be able to do
- 17:36Speaker 3: shit for themselves. So you know, I hope she can't
- 17:39Speaker 3: moved her in a walkable neighborhood. She'll figure it out.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And then now are they still together? So he's
- 17:44Speaker 1: when does your dad comes?
- 17:47Speaker 3: So my dad comes in tonight. He's just like as
- 17:49Speaker 3: a hospital visit, and it's a little more extensive when
- 17:53Speaker 3: someone's like fully in a wheelchair. So I wanted my
- 17:56Speaker 3: mom to have a few days to herself. I'll take
- 17:58Speaker 3: care of my dad and then you know, okay, she's
- 17:59Speaker 3: moved and a lot of shit they've lived.
- 18:00Speaker 2: There forever, Okay, Okay, So yeah, it's a big deal.
- 18:04Speaker 1: So let's talk about go back to your broke story, okay,
- 18:07Speaker 1: because I want to know how this elevation because it
- 18:09Speaker 1: seems like somewhere around your elevation that was like a
- 18:13Speaker 1: speed track.
- 18:14Speaker 3: So the broke miss the brokest I think i'd been
- 18:18Speaker 3: was when I left the abusive X, right, he only
- 18:21Speaker 3: let me keep barely the clothes that I had that
- 18:25Speaker 3: I had when I like got with him.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Are we talking like emotional or physical abuse?
- 18:30Speaker 3: Physical and emotional? He was crazy. I mean, I don't
- 18:32Speaker 3: know how dark you can get on the show. But like,
- 18:35Speaker 3: I didn't even know it was bad because I just
- 18:38Speaker 3: kind of thought when a man is paying for things
- 18:41Speaker 3: for you, like you deal with a little bit of something, right, Yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 3: And so to me, if you never close your fist,
- 18:47Speaker 3: I thought that was fine. I never realized how the
- 18:51Speaker 3: steps of you know, physical violence can be.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 3: So when I left him, he didn't give me anything.
- 18:57Speaker 3: It was really tough. I mean, mind you, I went
- 19:00Speaker 3: from when I was a kid having a driver drive
- 19:03Speaker 3: me to school that's how my parents were, to like
- 19:06Speaker 3: literally figuring out what I was gonna do with the
- 19:08Speaker 3: last pot holes, right, So it was really tough. And
- 19:12Speaker 3: I couldn't ask my parents for anything, didn't want to
- 19:14Speaker 3: tell them how bad it was.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, so when I moved, he didn't want
- 19:17Speaker 1: to tell them because they were already struggling.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Yeah. And then I can't imagine how my mom would feel.
- 19:22Speaker 3: She's like, oh my god, was like excited about you
- 19:23Speaker 3: having this rich boyfriend? Yeah, oh yeah, you know. So
- 19:27Speaker 3: ended up finding a place I think it was seven
- 19:29Speaker 3: hundred a month, split the rent with a homegirls, a
- 19:31Speaker 3: two bedroom in Orlando. He was right by Walmart, thank god,
- 19:35Speaker 3: because that's where I was buying all the fucking hot dogs,
- 19:37Speaker 3: the mac and cheese. Wrong, but my number one broke
- 19:40Speaker 3: thing I would do. So I used to hang with
- 19:42Speaker 3: all the trap news because hello, that was my jam okay,
- 19:47Speaker 3: and I'm from Florida, right, so like southern culture, big
- 19:50Speaker 3: car shows, HBC's like it was just fun and basically
- 19:54Speaker 3: what I would do if they were going to like
- 19:56Speaker 3: buy a bottle or a table in the club, I
- 19:58Speaker 3: would see if I had like maybe thirty dollars to
- 20:00Speaker 3: my account so that it would overdraft, I'd have them
- 20:02Speaker 3: give me the cash. And that was like my payday
- 20:04Speaker 3: loan to myself.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Oh wow, hold that You are like really in deep
- 20:10Speaker 1: when you think of that strategy.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 3: My roommate and I at the time. I remember we
- 20:16Speaker 3: both got paid on different weeks. So there was a
- 20:18Speaker 3: Thursday and we both got paid that or I got
- 20:21Speaker 3: paid that Friday. I was like, damn, we don't have
- 20:23Speaker 3: detergent left, but we want to go to the club.
- 20:24Speaker 3: We had like twenty bucks. She was like, okay, we
- 20:26Speaker 3: get vodka or detergent, and we got vodka. Okay, we
- 20:31Speaker 3: use some body washing like clean shit. In the same
- 20:33Speaker 3: we were like, we got to go out and meet
- 20:34Speaker 3: niggas to make more money. And it's crazy that, like
- 20:37Speaker 3: that was what I thought being able to have success.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Look like I got to meet a rich guy, I
- 20:41Speaker 3: got a date a basketball player, this fi or that guy. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 3: which a lot of women still think they need to
- 20:45Speaker 3: do today.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I want to subscribe. I'm gonna say it openly. I
- 20:51Speaker 1: want to subscribe to the rich nigga club because I
- 20:53Speaker 1: do the opposite. I'm like, are you broken, homeless? Let
- 20:56Speaker 1: me help you. I can graduate you to the next week.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Oh no, trust me, you don't want to get in
- 21:03Speaker 1: that game. You know what the problem is because they'll
- 21:04Speaker 1: turn around to look at you and be like, I
- 21:06Speaker 1: know I'm homeless, but.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Oh no, my life, I think I'm better than you.
- 21:10Speaker 3: The problem is, like I think now, a lot of
- 21:14Speaker 3: the dudes are in my industry right, so like the
- 21:16Speaker 3: people that I'm working amongst, I can't be out here
- 21:19Speaker 3: like trying to fuck with these niggas for bread like
- 21:21Speaker 3: I used to. Don't get me wrong, I would still
- 21:23Speaker 3: want Toby, but like for real, like you know, it's
- 21:27Speaker 3: like they'll know me from somewhere. I've seen me on something,
- 21:30Speaker 3: so I don't want to be a bird. Then I
- 21:32Speaker 3: just end up, you know, a bird with these niggas.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But whatever, I'll tell you right now, I am learning
- 21:40Speaker 1: and I am done. So you know, if you ever
- 21:42Speaker 1: find a rich one, you can always slide on. Heyko,
- 21:46Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, because I've actually I've never actually dated
- 21:49Speaker 1: a rich dude.
- 21:50Speaker 3: My damnsel in distress thing all the time was just
- 21:53Speaker 3: like I just really want to be able to like
- 21:55Speaker 3: out my you know, home parents, And it was true.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I was like, so, I'm just like working really hard
- 22:01Speaker 3: and I can't ut work college. But just like I'm
- 22:02Speaker 3: really smart. I read a lot. I was always like
- 22:05Speaker 3: doing a fucking sob story, which I'll tell you what,
- 22:09Speaker 3: my sugar daddy. A lot of the things that I
- 22:12Speaker 3: think helped me now are the stock tips and investment
- 22:16Speaker 3: tips I got for my sugar daddy.
- 22:18Speaker 1: But didn't didn't you say, were your parents in stock markets?
- 22:21Speaker 1: Too though it crash okay, So you didn't want to
- 22:24Speaker 1: take tips from them, were you?
- 22:25Speaker 2: Like No?
- 22:27Speaker 3: But you know, with him, particularly my sugar daddy, I
- 22:32Speaker 3: remember he would get up at four o'clock in the morning,
- 22:34Speaker 3: five o'clock in the morning and watch the market, to
- 22:35Speaker 3: watch the markets in China wherever, just international stocks four
- 22:40Speaker 3: x right, things like that, and it never made me
- 22:43Speaker 3: want his money. I always wanted to be him. I
- 22:45Speaker 3: always wanted to be that person that just had this, this, this,
- 22:48Speaker 3: this and that to me that was so attractive about him.
- 22:51Speaker 3: People used to always ask me how I could fuck
- 22:53Speaker 3: him and shit like that, and I was like, bro,
- 22:55Speaker 3: you don't know how rich the person is. You don't
- 22:57Speaker 3: know how how much that drives me. The ambition that
- 23:00Speaker 3: made him sexier and sexier. So one day I eventually
- 23:03Speaker 3: just asked him like, hey, I really want to learn
- 23:04Speaker 3: the stock market, but like, you know, what, can I
- 23:06Speaker 3: put like five hundred dollars in? And he's like, that's
- 23:09Speaker 3: not a start. I'll give you ten thousand dollars if
- 23:12Speaker 3: you can make it grow. I forgot the timeframe. He said,
- 23:15Speaker 3: I'll reward you with another ten and he did wow,
- 23:18Speaker 3: And I kept growing it and growing it. I think
- 23:20Speaker 3: at the time I even put the money in T
- 23:21Speaker 3: Mobile think it opened, became a publicly traded company when
- 23:25Speaker 3: I worked there, became publicly traded and then it was
- 23:30Speaker 3: six dollars and then they went up to like thirty
- 23:32Speaker 3: and I probably get.
- 23:33Speaker 5: A lot of money.
- 23:47Speaker 1: So when you were doing the podcast, and this is
- 23:50Speaker 1: before I want to say, before everybody was on podcasting correct,
- 23:54Speaker 1: seven years ago? Yeah, I mean it was like before
- 23:57Speaker 1: the New wave or were you guys early in.
- 24:00Speaker 3: We were very early, and like people were very really
- 24:02Speaker 3: doing video, I think for popular podcasts, just for scale.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I don't understand how you're mixing water and oil and
- 24:10Speaker 1: you're not getting burns.
- 24:12Speaker 3: I'm standing away. I'm trying to like I didn't have
- 24:14Speaker 3: a grill, okay, but I'm trying to get that real plate.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, you know what I mean.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Okay, gourmet continue.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I don't want to derail you.
- 24:24Speaker 3: This is fucking me up. This is hard. I can't
- 24:27Speaker 3: even listen to music when I cook one.
- 24:29Speaker 1: You would be surprised how many people will at the
- 24:31Speaker 1: after each interview, they'll be like yo, cooking and talking
- 24:34Speaker 1: at the same time.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Really really difficult because.
- 24:36Speaker 3: You're like knowing that you have to engage, like that's
- 24:40Speaker 3: what's making it.
- 24:40Speaker 2: And you have to like tell your story the entire time.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm about to start telling you some lies.
- 24:46Speaker 1: No no, So so your sugar baby is sugar babe,
- 24:52Speaker 1: sugar daddy, so that would make you the sugar baby, right,
- 24:55Speaker 1: sugar baby. Okay, okay, I'm going to be a sugar baby.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I'm going to get a shirt Baisy Bros.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Every time I was out with him, I would take
- 25:01Speaker 3: him to like fucking any and this when I just
- 25:04Speaker 3: moved to New York. Catch just just came out at
- 25:06Speaker 3: the time, and SGK was super popular. I remember all
- 25:09Speaker 3: them niggas if you be looking at me with him,
- 25:10Speaker 3: and I'd be like, come on, babe. Also just turned
- 25:13Speaker 3: on knowing that he had to fuck me for money,
- 25:15Speaker 3: uh huh, which is terrible, but I was okay, it
- 25:19Speaker 3: was sexy to me, like especially when I remember he
- 25:21Speaker 3: would be like, you want to get some clothes and
- 25:23Speaker 3: I would always want to get a little Nike askict
- 25:24Speaker 3: to ship you know many all the niggas of you
- 25:26Speaker 3: in Yeah, he's my daddy, but so anyway, start horrible decisions.
- 25:33Speaker 1: But I like how you were actually inspired by his
- 25:37Speaker 1: moves versus well, I don't want to say I like,
- 25:40Speaker 1: but it's interesting that you were inspired by him being
- 25:44Speaker 1: successful to be even more successful, and you you took
- 25:47Speaker 1: the initiative to even say, hey, I want to learn
- 25:50Speaker 1: what you're doing and do it on my own, which
- 25:52Speaker 1: was great.
- 25:52Speaker 3: It's like I always wanted this sex in the city
- 25:55Speaker 3: life mm hmm, but I never felt like any of
- 25:58Speaker 3: them needed men to live that life. Yeah, and so
- 26:01Speaker 3: I wanted to have the girlfriends that I was wearing
- 26:03Speaker 3: an amazing designer with and fucking enjoying fashion show and
- 26:06Speaker 3: doing this shit. But I knew if I was tied
- 26:09Speaker 3: to a man, I wouldn't have that freedom. And I
- 26:11Speaker 3: had also experienced my first relationship a man with money
- 26:14Speaker 3: and abuse, so I was like, I have to have
- 26:16Speaker 3: it on my own. I can't be down again. And
- 26:18Speaker 3: you know, I hate to say it like this, but
- 26:21Speaker 3: my mom was a housewife her whole life. And what
- 26:23Speaker 3: happened to my parents with losing their I mean their
- 26:25Speaker 3: house got four clothes on right, the home that I
- 26:28Speaker 3: SETI grew up in. It's like it was tough to
- 26:30Speaker 3: watch them go through that. And I think about two
- 26:32Speaker 3: incomes or just diversifying shit what that would have meant.
- 26:35Speaker 3: So that really fueled me a lot. And it's tough
- 26:38Speaker 3: for my mom to hear that.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but why have you had those sidebar conversations?
- 26:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, definitely, But it's not easy. Like my mom
- 26:47Speaker 3: is so amazing, but there's moments where she's like, oh
- 26:49Speaker 3: my god, I never taught you to go out there
- 26:52Speaker 3: and do it alone.
- 26:54Speaker 2: But look at you.
- 26:55Speaker 3: In a way, you're you know, well I made money
- 26:59Speaker 3: off of person.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Well you make money because you're a gangster entrepreneur.
- 27:04Speaker 1: That's really it. I mean the personality. I mean, in
- 27:08Speaker 1: my opinion, the personality is just like the cherry on
- 27:12Speaker 1: the cake.
- 27:12Speaker 3: But you know what, I'm a feller at heart. And
- 27:15Speaker 3: my father that's what he did growing up. He owned
- 27:18Speaker 3: like camera stores and like you know the little row
- 27:21Speaker 3: like stores back in the day they'd have where they
- 27:23Speaker 3: were selling electronic these shops. That was my dad's like
- 27:27Speaker 3: line of work. Okay, And when I was growing up,
- 27:32Speaker 3: I mean this shit, that's what I started selling clothes
- 27:33Speaker 3: T mobile by then then, like literally everything about it
- 27:41Speaker 3: felt like selling to me. You know, Like it's interesting
- 27:44Speaker 3: the way Mandy and I have kind of done our business.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I always felt like she has really helped us so
- 27:50Speaker 3: much when it comes in terms of our finances.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:52Speaker 3: She had a financial background, and even though I came
- 27:54Speaker 3: from the tech world, was selling like I mean, I'm
- 27:56Speaker 3: the first person when we're on a call that's like
- 27:58Speaker 3: I want to do it for this much, this or that.
- 28:00Speaker 3: And like I loved that. We've been able to play
- 28:03Speaker 3: up both of our corporate roles in that. Yeah, and
- 28:06Speaker 3: I've got a lot of seller blood in me. My
- 28:08Speaker 3: partner Alex now with WTF Media Studios. Anytime we have
- 28:11Speaker 3: a big deal or he sees someone's budget, he's like, oh,
- 28:14Speaker 3: you have to sell them on the phone. You have
- 28:17Speaker 3: to tell them why. And I really enjoy it. It makes
- 28:20Speaker 3: me feel like I still got it a little bit.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I I always say this that I think I used
- 28:26Speaker 1: to always say. When I have a child, I want
- 28:27Speaker 1: to teach her how to read, I want to teach
- 28:29Speaker 1: her financial literacy, I want to teach her about God.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But the number one skill that she has to have
- 28:34Speaker 1: before she graduates high school is the ability to sell.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Because I think it is the most underrated skill.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And if you're going to go work for yourself, the
- 28:44Speaker 1: number one thing you're gonna have to do is sell
- 28:45Speaker 1: a product, sell yourself. And so I don't buy anything, yep.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And I remember when I had my first company. I
- 28:52Speaker 1: remember going to home deep or office depot and buying
- 28:55Speaker 1: those little sale books and you know how well out
- 28:58Speaker 1: the hair pulled back and all.
- 28:59Speaker 2: This and whatever.
- 29:00Speaker 1: But I knew right away that sales is the one skill.
- 29:05Speaker 1: And I would listen to all these audio tapes too
- 29:07Speaker 1: about like how people you know you're almost nervous getting
- 29:10Speaker 1: into it.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Well, what's interesting about selling too? I know Mandy and
- 29:13Speaker 3: I had a conversation about this, Like, so I never
- 29:15Speaker 3: finished college because I couldn't afford to finish it because
- 29:18Speaker 3: I got out of that relationship, right, m I don't
- 29:20Speaker 3: want it to splatter in all this equipment. I don't
- 29:23Speaker 3: normally do it like this. But Mandy at the time
- 29:28Speaker 3: coming off of two degrees working for this huge firm,
- 29:31Speaker 3: and she was working more hours and not making as
- 29:34Speaker 3: much as me in accounting at that time. I understand
- 29:37Speaker 3: it was junior level. Yeah, but I think about that
- 29:39Speaker 3: a lot, and I think about the money you can
- 29:41Speaker 3: make from selling all the time, and I think about
- 29:44Speaker 3: that instance of like, shit, maybe she's smarter than me.
- 29:48Speaker 3: But why isn't she making it up? And it's because
- 29:51Speaker 3: that particular skill really can't be taught real you can't.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta practice it and practice it and practice
- 29:58Speaker 1: it and practice it.
- 29:59Speaker 3: I mean, I believe Mandy is greater than what was
- 30:02Speaker 3: I going to say, you know, the job that she had,
- 30:05Speaker 3: and that's why she's making way more and doing way
- 30:07Speaker 3: more things now. But yeah, I mean it's definitely a thing.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:11Speaker 3: So yeah, with selling doing shit like that, had horrible
- 30:14Speaker 3: decisions on the side, and it was really difficult to
- 30:16Speaker 3: juggle both. And so about two years into doing horrible decisions,
- 30:20Speaker 3: I quit. But it was mainly because I was like,
- 30:22Speaker 3: you know what, if I ever wanted to come back
- 30:25Speaker 3: to this shit, I will, like I've been making jokes recently,
- 30:28Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, me and fifteen years I'm
- 30:30Speaker 3: probably gonna be a real estate agent.
- 30:32Speaker 2: So why did you quit? Two years?
- 30:34Speaker 3: In the trajectory of horrible was faster than the trajectory
- 30:38Speaker 3: of corporate America. For example, how long do we work
- 30:41Speaker 3: a corporate job? Right, so you want to get promoted?
- 30:44Speaker 3: I worked for Teambile six years. I got to be
- 30:48Speaker 3: a manager after year three and a half four, if
- 30:51Speaker 3: there's a spot for you. So to me, I kind
- 30:54Speaker 3: of just felt like this is moving faster than my
- 30:58Speaker 3: rate in the corporate world.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but you said you quit horrible.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Oh sorry, quit my corporate.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, Oh because you were like two years
- 31:06Speaker 1: in I quit horrible.
- 31:08Speaker 2: No, you quit your corporate okay, okay.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Got quit my corporate job after two years, and I
- 31:13Speaker 3: legitimately felt like it was not gonna make me.
- 31:18Speaker 1: But I have to ask before, how much were you making?
- 31:21Speaker 1: It horrible to say, okay, not as you make it. Oh,
- 31:25Speaker 1: you weren't making as much as T Mobile.
- 31:27Speaker 3: So here's the thing, because a lot of people ask
- 31:29Speaker 3: me when is the right time to quit a job,
- 31:31Speaker 3: and I can only explain it like this, starting Team Mobile,
- 31:34Speaker 3: I made ninety thousand, ending I was around one seventy five, okay, which.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Is damn T Mobile, Go ahead, go on.
- 31:40Speaker 3: It was like I was selling to companies that needed
- 31:43Speaker 3: like Ethernet I gradual disaster recovery, like I graduated from phones.
- 31:48Speaker 3: But basically this is what happens. So horrible decisions at
- 31:52Speaker 3: that time that I quit may have been making me
- 31:55Speaker 3: one hundred thousand, maybe one twenty five from touring mainly
- 31:59Speaker 3: not even Patreon ad money, and.
- 32:01Speaker 2: That's two years in. Yeah, geez, all right, go on.
- 32:05Speaker 3: And I think the tour money because Mandy and I
- 32:07Speaker 3: were buying out theaters. We brought out Carolines on Broadway.
- 32:10Speaker 2: And you guys were physically doing it yourself.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Splitting that money, paying ourselves back event bright type shit.
- 32:16Speaker 3: But what I realized was like, oh, took me six
- 32:21Speaker 3: years to make ninety to one to seventy year, took
- 32:23Speaker 3: me two years from zero to one hundred. So next
- 32:27Speaker 3: year I'm gonna make more. Yeah, let's just say I
- 32:30Speaker 3: make another fifty. It's worth it. Not to mention I
- 32:32Speaker 3: have more time on my hands. I could probably do
- 32:33Speaker 3: more appearances and more tour dates, so it's time to quit.
- 32:37Speaker 3: I also remember one moment it was brilliant idiots. If
- 32:42Speaker 3: anyone watches that episode, I was literally wearing a suit
- 32:45Speaker 3: like a blazer and a skirt, but Mandy and I
- 32:47Speaker 3: had to like make an excuse to leave our jobs
- 32:49Speaker 3: that day to go shoot with charl Mane and Andrew.
- 32:52Speaker 3: So I think that it really will show you, like
- 32:55Speaker 3: when you have to start saying no to things. Oh
- 32:57Speaker 3: oh yeah, when you have to start saying no to
- 32:59Speaker 3: things because of your day job. Yes, maybe that's when
- 33:02Speaker 3: it's time, like when you're really getting booked like that,
- 33:05Speaker 3: like TV appearances even like I remember we did Vice
- 33:08Speaker 3: Live and I couldn't be there early for the rehearsal
- 33:11Speaker 3: because of my job, And I was like, damn man,
- 33:13Speaker 3: and anyone who's watching this who might be semi getting entertainment,
- 33:18Speaker 3: whether you've got a TikTok or popular Instagram channel, you
- 33:21Speaker 3: want to do a Horrible Decisions podcast and maybe get
- 33:23Speaker 3: or even eating while robe. Who the fuck is gonna
- 33:26Speaker 3: do this shit at six thirty seven o'clock at night, right,
- 33:29Speaker 3: who's gonna do what? Like to have a guest? Yeah, entrepreneurs,
- 33:32Speaker 3: Like all this shit gets filmed during the day. Yeah,
- 33:34Speaker 3: So it's really tough to have a nine to five
- 33:37Speaker 3: and pursue those entertainment dreams. And like that was why
- 33:41Speaker 3: I was like, I got to figure the shit out.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I think my biggest success in this industry came during
- 33:48Speaker 3: the pandemic while pivoting. So made the TV show Sex Sells.
- 33:53Speaker 3: It's about the business of sex, having money, making money
- 33:56Speaker 3: from sex without having it. And I came up with
- 34:00Speaker 3: that because that's how I make money, right, I just
- 34:02Speaker 3: basically talk about sex covered all these adult industries and
- 34:06Speaker 3: I'm not a TV star, and it ended up popping
- 34:08Speaker 3: on cues and that's why I'm one.
- 34:09Speaker 1: How did you did you package that yourself and then
- 34:12Speaker 1: start selling it? Or did you package it and then
- 34:15Speaker 1: started calling Charlemagne or different people you have relationship with
- 34:17Speaker 1: and like, I have something that I need.
- 34:20Speaker 3: That's what made me the most proud. I didn't need
- 34:22Speaker 3: a co sign for that. Okay, I believe Horrible Decisions
- 34:24Speaker 3: had the Charlemagne co sign, and that's what made a
- 34:28Speaker 3: lot of people watch in the beginning. I do believe
- 34:30Speaker 3: Charlemagne made our success faster. Don't believe we're successful because
- 34:34Speaker 3: it happened faster. But what happened with Sex Sells was
- 34:39Speaker 3: like I just had so much time during the pandemic
- 34:41Speaker 3: to think, and I knew my two loves were fucking
- 34:44Speaker 3: in money m hm, and so I was like, oh
- 34:46Speaker 3: my god, I should make the show. I want to
- 34:48Speaker 3: humanize sex workers, and literally people don't talk about their
- 34:51Speaker 3: sex lives on it, and a lot of people have
- 34:52Speaker 3: said like, oh, it's like horrible Decisions on TV, but
- 34:55Speaker 3: it's even.
- 34:56Speaker 1: It doesn't sound like it. It sounds completely different because
- 34:58Speaker 1: you're talking about this set, right.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I'm an interview a lot of the guests we had
- 35:03Speaker 3: so that I can, you know, show them some love
- 35:05Speaker 3: and they've got real businesses promote them. But no, it's
- 35:07Speaker 3: totally different and I love doing it. It makes me.
- 35:11Speaker 3: It really brought me into the world of seeing how
- 35:13Speaker 3: production works, the larger skill budgets and money.
- 35:17Speaker 1: So, but you pitched it yourself, That's what I'm saying,
- 35:19Speaker 1: Like you went out there or did you have a
- 35:21Speaker 1: manager that helped you?
- 35:23Speaker 3: So it started slow. I didn't have a manager, never
- 35:25Speaker 3: had an agent ever.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Basically, oh still to this date.
- 35:32Speaker 3: No, not personally, Damn, you're a gangster. I have a
- 35:34Speaker 3: person that gives I give them a cut of my
- 35:36Speaker 3: money if they do pr stuff for me, but if
- 35:39Speaker 3: they get me a deal. But yeah, So basically, there
- 35:43Speaker 3: was a guy that reached out to me months back
- 35:46Speaker 3: before the pandemic was like, oh, do you want to
- 35:48Speaker 3: do this type of show? I was like, no pandemic
- 35:51Speaker 3: hits and I was like, you know what, I wonder
- 35:53Speaker 3: what the fuck he's doing. It's like he making TV?
- 35:56Speaker 3: Is TV being made? And we started talking about what
- 36:00Speaker 3: it would look like if we worked together and came
- 36:02Speaker 3: up with sex cells together. He worked at FEWS at
- 36:05Speaker 3: the time. Help me package it, oh, help me make
- 36:07Speaker 3: a bible. And we did it that way. But what
- 36:10Speaker 3: I will tell anyone that has a good TV idea
- 36:13Speaker 3: is people that work in development needs shows all the time.
- 36:17Speaker 3: I currently run development for Kenya Barris at Audible. Right, okay,
- 36:20Speaker 3: don't send me shit right now, I'm done with that.
- 36:24Speaker 3: But like literally, I was wondering what shows we're gonna
- 36:27Speaker 3: make for him, Like developers want to fucking know, and
- 36:30Speaker 3: if you have good ideas, shooting pilots, making decks, having
- 36:35Speaker 3: a bible, having the demographics of why it would be good,
- 36:38Speaker 3: not just coming in their blank like hey, I'm not
- 36:40Speaker 3: doing anything like I've been doing XYZ. Like if you
- 36:43Speaker 3: hit up the Food Network, you'd have how much to
- 36:45Speaker 3: show them? So real? You know what I mean.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna take notes. Remember how I said I'll take it.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Notes, goge you did, But like here it is, here's
- 36:53Speaker 3: my spread, and this is what I do with this
- 36:55Speaker 3: type of budget. Imagine if you gave me fifty thousand
- 36:58Speaker 3: an episode, I could be doing it on the load.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I could be coming to their homes. I could be
- 37:02Speaker 3: X y Z. Like, there's so many different ways for
- 37:06Speaker 3: the things that we're making right now to make them
- 37:08Speaker 3: next level. Yeah, and so I think that we just
- 37:11Speaker 3: kind of have to use our network. Like my biggest
- 37:14Speaker 3: thing with playing chess is making sure that I'm rubbing
- 37:17Speaker 3: elbows with those that can one day need to use
- 37:22Speaker 3: me for something I need.
- 37:24Speaker 2: To use you. That's awesome, Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Because the thing is, I remember Charlotte, he said this
- 37:29Speaker 3: about someone they were like. He was like, that person
- 37:32Speaker 3: is such an opportunist, And I was like, I wonder
- 37:35Speaker 3: if that's who I am. But really, I don't ask
- 37:39Speaker 3: I let every single person know what the fuck I do.
- 37:41Speaker 3: I just had a dinner where I sat down next
- 37:44Speaker 3: to one of the most famous comedians in the world.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I don't even know if this person can travel on
- 37:48Speaker 3: a commercial plane, that's how famous they are, right. Wow.
- 37:51Speaker 3: When they asked me what I do, didn't even say
- 37:53Speaker 3: a podcast thing. I was like, I own a production
- 37:54Speaker 3: studio in New York and La Black owned. We shoot
- 37:57Speaker 3: podcasts mainly, but we also have a mobile team Boom.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Now it's in your brain. Now you know what you
- 38:03Speaker 3: can use me for, Like that's the job I felt
- 38:05Speaker 3: like I needed to sell to that person at the time.
- 38:07Speaker 3: When I talk to TV show, TV networks or people
- 38:10Speaker 3: that work in Netflix or different things like that I host,
- 38:11Speaker 3: I do this, I do that right, Like I want
- 38:13Speaker 3: to make sure that I'm useful to people that I've
- 38:16Speaker 3: rebed elros with.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I think your sales skills like shines through. I
- 38:20Speaker 1: always say, like, sales is more about paying attention to
- 38:23Speaker 1: what the customer wants, listening to them, and.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Then catering to their needs.
- 38:28Speaker 1: That's just trying to sell someone something that they don't
- 38:30Speaker 1: want to buy. So even the way you're talking is
- 38:33Speaker 1: like your sales skills are just really amazing. Yeah, because
- 38:37Speaker 1: that's how it is. You're supposed to sell. You're supposed
- 38:39Speaker 1: to you know, if someone walks up to me right now,
- 38:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna think about, you know, what it is they're
- 38:44Speaker 1: gonna need or want from me.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Correct. You know, that's a really good point because I
- 38:48Speaker 3: didn't even think about me selling myself in that way,
- 38:50Speaker 3: but like, damn it is.
- 38:51Speaker 2: It is.
- 38:51Speaker 1: But now opportunists is different, because opportunists are I always
- 38:55Speaker 1: say I want to be a business person, not a hustler,
- 38:58Speaker 1: because I feel like a hustler is like, I'm gonna
- 39:00Speaker 1: take advantage, someone's gonna get a short end of a stick.
- 39:03Speaker 1: But a business person is like, we're all gonna win.
- 39:05Speaker 1: You're gonna walk away with your piece of the pie.
- 39:07Speaker 1: She's gonna walk away with her piece of pie, and
- 39:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna walk away with my piece, and no one
- 39:11Speaker 1: feels to agreed.
- 39:12Speaker 3: You can never make someone feel like they're doing you
- 39:14Speaker 3: a favor.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yeah, like at all.
- 39:17Speaker 3: I mean, Charlotte Mine was lucky and lucky enough to
- 39:20Speaker 3: make horrible decisions with his rollout on Black Effect. I
- 39:23Speaker 3: know there's eighty five South all the smoke, and I
- 39:25Speaker 3: literally was thinking to myself the other day, Charla Mane
- 39:29Speaker 3: is Charlot Mane, But horrible decisions was still good enough
- 39:31Speaker 3: to where Black Effects was like, oh, we do need
- 39:33Speaker 3: those numbers, but we sell to add people like I
- 39:36Speaker 3: don't want to fucking suck anybody's dick to feel like,
- 39:40Speaker 3: and I'm not talking about that instance, but just anyone like,
- 39:42Speaker 3: thank you so much for giving this to you. Yeah yeah,
- 39:43Speaker 3: when you know your value, Yeah yeah, we have to
- 39:46Speaker 3: make sure that we're definitely pouring into ourselves in that way.
- 39:49Speaker 3: But I mean shit. You know, I love fuse to death,
- 39:52Speaker 3: but I also know my show brings number then and
- 39:54Speaker 3: I know that's why they treat me well. They love
- 39:56Speaker 3: me too, like we're definitely doing what we need to
- 39:59Speaker 3: do for each other. Like I'm so happy to be
- 40:03Speaker 3: on a network that you know I can be their
- 40:05Speaker 3: most watch show. Like maybe if I was on an
- 40:07Speaker 3: HBO or some Netflix, maybe I would just kind of
- 40:10Speaker 3: go under the radar.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I don't think so. Maybe, I honestly don't think so.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Thank you, I don't think so. I'm not even trying
- 40:16Speaker 2: to be not Well, what was your hardest hurdle?
- 40:33Speaker 1: I think it just to come to day because I
- 40:36Speaker 1: feel like you have a lot of great pivots. But like,
- 40:38Speaker 1: where was there a point where you were like I
- 40:40Speaker 1: don't know, hmm, that you seriously like had that conversation off.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I don't know, And it could have been my studio.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Okay, my studio, which is the best thing I've ever done. Actually,
- 40:52Speaker 3: my studio gave me the seal of approval to be
- 40:57Speaker 3: bigger than just a podcaster, Like that was really when
- 41:00Speaker 3: I became a businesswoman. No matter how hard Mandy and
- 41:02Speaker 3: I have worked, I never felt like that and it's
- 41:05Speaker 3: no shade to her. I don't know if it's because
- 41:06Speaker 3: with women. I don't know if it's because we talk
- 41:08Speaker 3: about sex, but like I had to do something else
- 41:10Speaker 3: for myself to feel like I could be respected. And
- 41:14Speaker 3: it really shows something about brick and mortar spaces to
- 41:17Speaker 3: make people feel very like, oh, they're really doing something,
- 41:20Speaker 3: which is weird. But it's also because I started getting
- 41:23Speaker 3: other people money, Like.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Thought, what was the hesitancy, Like where was that hesitancy at?
- 41:28Speaker 3: Like where was that pain that investment? Right, my partner
- 41:31Speaker 3: Alex shout out to him. We spent an insane amount
- 41:34Speaker 3: of money on fucking equipment, which is why we have
- 41:38Speaker 3: one of the best studios right, Like literally, I was like,
- 41:41Speaker 3: how can we be charging people this little but like
- 41:43Speaker 3: our equipment is so fucking expensive, like it doesn't add
- 41:46Speaker 3: up or whatever. Yeah, and he was like, Yo, that's
- 41:49Speaker 3: why everybody's gonna come with us, to know that the
- 41:51Speaker 3: podcasters like us can be there and then the Charlottamanees
- 41:56Speaker 3: of the world or whoever they may be. David Letterman wasn't.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Our shit, Oh shit, right, Okay.
- 42:00Speaker 3: He's like to know these people and okay, you can
- 42:03Speaker 3: sit amongst them like we're gonna be for all of them,
- 42:06Speaker 3: and that's really been our brand. I believe that's why
- 42:08Speaker 3: we're growing. I mean, we get resumes like fucking crazy
- 42:11Speaker 3: every day.
- 42:12Speaker 1: So how long did it take when you so you
- 42:15Speaker 1: made that initial investment. The by the way, you're cooking
- 42:19Speaker 1: like we are in a rich restaurant.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Because the point look at all the food.
- 42:23Speaker 1: She made, and it's like, I feel like I'm about
- 42:25Speaker 1: to eat an appetizer.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Gormet.
- 42:27Speaker 3: You try to make it look clean and minimally.
- 42:31Speaker 1: When the cameras are off, I'm gonna just go in
- 42:33Speaker 1: with a fork and just eat everything direct.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I know it.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because I'm starving and you gave me like an appetizer.
- 42:41Speaker 3: It's fucking hot dogs.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Girl.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I want to see you sit down next to this
- 42:46Speaker 1: mic and spend quality time with me.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Okay, okay, let's try this. It looks good but.
- 42:55Speaker 5: Not bad.
- 42:57Speaker 3: You look, there's the onions.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I'm surprised you didn't mix these in together.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Funny enough, my co host talks about Haitian spaghetti and
- 43:07Speaker 3: it's hot dogs in it. I never mixed the hot
- 43:10Speaker 3: dogs a pasta. But this is kind of good.
- 43:12Speaker 2: This ship is amazing. Did you mix it all on
- 43:14Speaker 2: one for it.
- 43:15Speaker 3: I'll put it together on I don't want to touch
- 43:18Speaker 3: on the plate.
- 43:18Speaker 2: For all y'all listeners. The hot dog and the onions smack.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I definitely will mess with Nathan's just because I feel
- 43:25Speaker 1: like maybe it tastes different or I just haven't had
- 43:26Speaker 1: a hot dog in a while. But the freaking grilled
- 43:30Speaker 1: onions and mac and cheese cheese is genius. Bro I
- 43:34Speaker 1: don't know why I've never thought of seasoning up my
- 43:37Speaker 1: mac and cheese.
- 43:39Speaker 2: But the grilled onions, it's crunchy, it's amazing.
- 43:42Speaker 3: I am so happy.
- 43:44Speaker 2: I am very impressible. The only thing is.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I would maybe add and I don't even know, but
- 43:52Speaker 1: do you agree? Would you add more salt to the
- 43:55Speaker 1: mac and cheese?
- 43:56Speaker 3: Oh? I put salt on my stuff, but I don't
- 43:57Speaker 3: want to do that to people.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Oh okay, that's what.
- 44:00Speaker 3: The lorries for you. You know, sodium is a bitch nowadays.
- 44:03Speaker 3: M Plus, there's a lot of salt in that Tony
- 44:05Speaker 3: Sharia whatever name is.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So for a girl that came from money, went broke,
- 44:13Speaker 1: had sugar daddies, and it's self made to the point
- 44:16Speaker 1: of flying your family in from Orlando to La still
- 44:23Speaker 1: in the early early I don't even want to say
- 44:25Speaker 1: how early thirties she is because all of us are listening.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Can you believe that much you've accomplished. It's amazing.
- 44:35Speaker 3: You know. Sometimes I get scared like I'll lose it,
- 44:38Speaker 3: But then I realize the hunger that I have to
- 44:41Speaker 3: help everybody around me is too deep. It's too intense
- 44:45Speaker 3: that I don't think it could happen.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Now do you deal with well?
- 44:48Speaker 1: You said you have multiple companies. You're definitely spread. It
- 44:51Speaker 1: sounds to me like you're spread pretty thin. I'm so
- 44:54Speaker 1: happy you shared that because I always think that maybe
- 44:56Speaker 1: I'm doing something wrong if I have so many hustles
- 44:58Speaker 1: going at the same time.
- 45:00Speaker 3: You know, there is something to be said about a
- 45:02Speaker 3: master of none, But I will say this much what's
- 45:06Speaker 3: worked for me. I don't steal anybody's idea. I really
- 45:11Speaker 3: ride my own wave. I made a studio not because
- 45:14Speaker 3: there's other podcast studios, because there were no black owned
- 45:16Speaker 3: ones that were gonna have podcasters run it. I'd never
- 45:20Speaker 3: been to a podcast studio run by a podcaster. I
- 45:23Speaker 3: made horrible decisions because I really wanted to do a
- 45:26Speaker 3: fun sex show with someone that I knew was authentic,
- 45:30Speaker 3: and there were no black shows about sex that were
- 45:32Speaker 3: hosted by normal girls. Yeah right, it was always like
- 45:35Speaker 3: porn stars or whatever. Everything that I've done so far
- 45:38Speaker 3: hadn't seen before except for stock, I would say. But like,
- 45:42Speaker 3: I've really rode my own wave, and that's why I
- 45:46Speaker 3: think it's worked. So when you do too many different
- 45:50Speaker 3: trades and you're taking an idea, like your concept is different.
- 45:54Speaker 3: We've all seen a cooking show, but your concept is different, right, Yeah. Yeah,
- 45:57Speaker 3: so it's like you have to have something different added
- 46:00Speaker 3: to it, and I think that if you don't, you
- 46:02Speaker 3: then become a master of none because you're just trying
- 46:04Speaker 3: to do things that other people do.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I have a fear of I don't even know where
- 46:11Speaker 1: this fear came from, but when it comes to partnering
- 46:13Speaker 1: with other people, I feel like my greatest asset is
- 46:17Speaker 1: my relationships. And it's probably because I have so much integrity.
- 46:20Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, I won't hurt a full I really
- 46:22Speaker 1: won't even hurt a fly because I want to treat
- 46:25Speaker 1: people the way I would want to be treated.
- 46:26Speaker 2: So my loyalty is there.
- 46:28Speaker 1: But when I see like you and Mandy working together
- 46:31Speaker 1: and you and Alex working together. I'm like, either the
- 46:34Speaker 1: integrity on you has got to be super lit or
- 46:37Speaker 1: how are you managing that partnership? Because I always get nervous,
- 46:40Speaker 1: like what if the other partner doesn't hold up or
- 46:43Speaker 1: there's a disagreement?
- 46:44Speaker 2: So how do you? How do you navigate that?
- 46:46Speaker 3: My first partnership I've ever had was with Mandy, right,
- 46:49Speaker 3: and Mandy and I had stopped we're friends, stopp being friends,
- 46:53Speaker 3: became friends again during the show, fell out of friendship again.
- 46:55Speaker 3: But I think we are so hungry to make money
- 47:00Speaker 3: that we look past that and we're able to think
- 47:03Speaker 3: of the greater purpose. Like if I had a co
- 47:05Speaker 3: host that wasn't about our fans, maybe I couldn't do
- 47:09Speaker 3: the job, you know what I'm saying. But Mandy's a
- 47:11Speaker 3: self starter like I am too.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's not tough.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Like Mandy and I were on tour putting together the
- 47:19Speaker 3: merch table or doing something with the merchan of the
- 47:21Speaker 3: VIP things. And you know, if I see her doing something,
- 47:24Speaker 3: I don't want her to do it alone.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Like yeah, because oh nice, okay.
- 47:28Speaker 3: You know, And I think she feels the same for me,
- 47:29Speaker 3: so we definitely try and trust me, I have a
- 47:32Speaker 3: time where I didn't even realize how much work she
- 47:34Speaker 3: was putting in with the finance stuff. She's making spreadsheets
- 47:37Speaker 3: and shit back then and doing stuff I didn't even
- 47:39Speaker 3: understand that works. I would try to do it on
- 47:41Speaker 3: the creative side. But like I think, for me, with partnerships,
- 47:48Speaker 3: there's a skill set that someone has that I don't.
- 47:50Speaker 3: You know, wtf is so about the tech which is
- 47:53Speaker 3: all Alex and not me. But I do have to
- 47:56Speaker 3: give myself credit on how we were able to get
- 48:00Speaker 3: this shit going. I just don't know how much I
- 48:02Speaker 3: rent is where the light deep come from. He don't
- 48:04Speaker 3: know what the fuck going on, which is great, Yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 3: figure out the other shit. Like I really learned how
- 48:08Speaker 3: to use our skills and work together in that way,
- 48:10Speaker 3: and it's definitely been touched. She's one of my tough
- 48:12Speaker 3: he's one of my best friends, and it's like damn,
- 48:14Speaker 3: now sometimes it's all work. So we really have to
- 48:17Speaker 3: feed that friendship. You know, we have to have a
- 48:18Speaker 3: night where we get drunk together and have fun and
- 48:20Speaker 3: not talk about work. We have to really do that
- 48:22Speaker 3: to enjoy each other and separate it because it's tough.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I know with Dolly. Dolly and I came from
- 48:29Speaker 1: the nick Cannon area. A lot of people don't know this.
- 48:31Speaker 3: So my whole hookup with Black Effects, the president of
- 48:34Speaker 3: Black Man, yeah.
- 48:35Speaker 2: My stuff was an accident. It was legit.
- 48:37Speaker 1: I was telling Dolly I was literally like flying weed
- 48:40Speaker 1: money during the pandemic because I was I was hustling
- 48:44Speaker 1: all different directions. But anyways, I was trying to build
- 48:47Speaker 1: this show and I was like, Dolly, I think you
- 48:49Speaker 1: should be a part of it. But you know, she
- 48:52Speaker 1: had this other job offer and she's like should I
- 48:55Speaker 1: take him? Like, as long as they don't tell you
- 48:57Speaker 1: to go to work, girl, I'm all about taking all checks.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I didn't know it was the President of the Black
- 49:00Speaker 1: Effect or whatever. They happened to need a cooking show
- 49:04Speaker 1: and she pitched Eating while Broke and called me like,
- 49:07Speaker 1: you're gonna kill me? And I was like, why would
- 49:10Speaker 1: I kill you? And we're actual friends, you know I
- 49:12Speaker 1: told you. She's like, I told you know, iHeart and
- 49:16Speaker 1: ICM and Charlemagne about Eating while Broke and they loved it.
- 49:20Speaker 1: And I was like, okay, so where do I kill you?
- 49:23Speaker 1: She's like, well, they you know, we run a podcast network,
- 49:27Speaker 1: and your show is you want to do a TV show.
- 49:30Speaker 1: I'm like, Dolly, the table was just built in my garage.
- 49:33Speaker 1: My neighbors are driving past it. I actually don't even
- 49:36Speaker 1: know where this table is gonna go, okay, And I
- 49:39Speaker 1: think I had just found out I was pregnant or
- 49:42Speaker 1: I was like borderline in that conversation, and I was like, shit,
- 49:46Speaker 1: you know I was doing.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Illegal weed activity.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I was hustling in all these different plings, but I
- 49:51Speaker 1: had this idea that was literally sitting in my garage,
- 49:54Speaker 1: Like they just finished putting the forks on the table,
- 49:56Speaker 1: and I'm like, Dolly, I'm about to go broke. And
- 49:59Speaker 1: I done pitched all my celebrity friends. But I don't
- 50:01Speaker 1: even know if we're just taking this table to their
- 50:02Speaker 1: house or how we're even doing it. So why would
- 50:05Speaker 1: I kill you? Like?
- 50:07Speaker 2: And she was like, yeah, well, they want.
- 50:08Speaker 1: To send you an offer, like and I was like,
- 50:10Speaker 1: She's like, can you send me all your decks and stuff?
- 50:11Speaker 1: And I was like yeah, I had already had everything made.
- 50:14Speaker 1: But it was really no reason to kill her. But
- 50:16Speaker 1: even to this day, like sometimes as friends, I'll have
- 50:19Speaker 1: to get on the phone with her and She'll be like,
- 50:21Speaker 1: I don't want to talk business, or we could talk friends.
- 50:23Speaker 1: So that's how we managed the friendship. It'd be like,
- 50:25Speaker 1: Dolly ain't joining here nothing about work.
- 50:27Speaker 3: That's tough. When someone's like cutting that's tough.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 3: I remember the first time I heard an attitude from
- 50:33Speaker 3: Dolly when I was asking for more money.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I was like, oh, oh yeah, Dolly will tell me
- 50:36Speaker 1: no so fast.
- 50:38Speaker 2: I don't know, but you know, I separate.
- 50:40Speaker 3: It is a safe place. It's a safer place than not,
- 50:44Speaker 3: you know, in my heart is times with Mandy, I
- 50:47Speaker 3: remember being so angry at her. We've definitely thought like
- 50:51Speaker 3: I can't do this anymore. Literally, I was like, why
- 50:54Speaker 3: I go, fuck it? Where am I going to go?
- 50:55Speaker 3: Like all this goddamn money, where am I gonna Where?
- 50:58Speaker 3: Am I gonna go work for someone else? Fucking white dude?
- 51:01Speaker 3: Like No, I'm gonna make this money with her and
- 51:03Speaker 3: figure it the fuck out. Actually, it's interesting with our partnership.
- 51:06Speaker 3: I recently was at dinner with someone who asked me
- 51:10Speaker 3: about books and money spending and things like that, and
- 51:14Speaker 3: I was like, when you talked about integrity, I just
- 51:16Speaker 3: thought about it. Whether I'm angry with Mandy or not.
- 51:20Speaker 3: I've never thought she would like take money from the
- 51:22Speaker 3: company or something. Right with d Alex and I were bestie,
- 51:24Speaker 3: so we're not going to fuck each other over. And
- 51:26Speaker 3: they were telling me about how someone been sneaking money
- 51:28Speaker 3: out of the their partnership. And I never thought of
- 51:33Speaker 3: the bad side of what could happen for partnerships, only
- 51:35Speaker 3: the good.
- 51:36Speaker 5: Yea.
- 51:36Speaker 3: But it's really because I do find strength in numbers,
- 51:40Speaker 3: and I think partnership just builds and builds and builds
- 51:42Speaker 3: your portfolio. I mean, I would rather have half of
- 51:46Speaker 3: ten things, you know what I mean, especially knowing that,
- 51:50Speaker 3: Like there's so many times Alex has called me and
- 51:51Speaker 3: is like, yo, Neil Brennan is coming in and David
- 51:54Speaker 3: Lehiman coming in our studios us right, or maybe I'll
- 51:57Speaker 3: hit him up and I'll be like we're locked down
- 51:59Speaker 3: for a week. We got a deal from Amazon. Like
- 52:01Speaker 3: it's always one or the other, and it really really helps,
- 52:03Speaker 3: because when you're trying to get all that different money,
- 52:06Speaker 3: you can't do all things. I don't believe in people
- 52:09Speaker 3: that are trying to have too much control over everything,
- 52:12Speaker 3: you know, That's that's when it gets really tough. That's
- 52:14Speaker 3: when you get burnt out. You've got to be able
- 52:16Speaker 3: to alleviate some of that. I'm real cheap and I
- 52:18Speaker 3: don't even be wanting to give money up to an assistant,
- 52:20Speaker 3: but I realize it helps make your life easier.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Have you have you considered bringing one on yet I
- 52:24Speaker 1: have one as it has been helpful.
- 52:27Speaker 3: Well, our studio is so busy. She's now just the
- 52:30Speaker 3: studio manager of the two New York locations. But oh
- 52:32Speaker 3: she was amazing, Like she literally helped me with my
- 52:35Speaker 3: grandmother's funeral, you know, like when you've got a good one.
- 52:40Speaker 3: But my sisters like a real nigga, Like she's not
- 52:44Speaker 3: like she's not, Oh she's so great. She'll call me
- 52:47Speaker 3: like these mother, Like she helped me with the thing
- 52:48Speaker 3: for the wheelchair for my dad today. Right, she sent
- 52:51Speaker 3: me a screenshot of an email she was like these
- 52:52Speaker 3: motherfucker's trying to play me bruh, and like it's so
- 52:56Speaker 3: funny because like you kind of do have to work
- 52:58Speaker 3: with someone that makes you feel comfortable. You know, if
- 53:00Speaker 3: she was too tidied up, I don't think I can
- 53:02Speaker 3: do it. Yeah, But like I love partnering and working
- 53:05Speaker 3: with people that make me feel like I'm at home.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, because when we.
- 53:08Speaker 3: Face the world, there's a different person across that, you
- 53:11Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So knowing that we hire black
- 53:14Speaker 3: and hire people that are a vibe like yeah, it's
- 53:16Speaker 3: just it's so great, yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 1: I think, but also finding someone that really is invested
- 53:22Speaker 1: in your vision and your long term goals. I know
- 53:24Speaker 1: with my crew, I love them, like if I feel
- 53:28Speaker 1: something's de routing, I'm like, dinner, lunch, we're getting together.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Let's get to the table and find out what's going on.
- 53:34Speaker 1: But we I genuinely like love my crew, Like.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Everybody that works for me, I would want to have
- 53:39Speaker 3: a drink with them. Yeah. That to me, I don't
- 53:42Speaker 3: want to hire anybody that makes me fe like getting
- 53:44Speaker 3: my nerves and they're weird or like yeah, I want
- 53:46Speaker 3: to know they're cool, whether they be nerdy as fuck
- 53:48Speaker 3: and maybe we don't share those hobbies, like yeah, there
- 53:50Speaker 3: has to be some connection there or I won't maybe
- 53:53Speaker 3: care as much. And I think my thing to being
- 53:55Speaker 3: a good boss is giving a fuck yeah, you know,
- 53:58Speaker 3: writing down everyone's birthdays, making sure I get them a gift,
- 54:00Speaker 3: sending them text, telling them I appreciate them. I also
- 54:03Speaker 3: don't say people work for me. Like, if I'm in
- 54:06Speaker 3: front of someone, I feel like that's.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Do you do you call them like your team? How
- 54:11Speaker 2: do you reference them?
- 54:11Speaker 3: I'd be like, I say we work together. If someone
- 54:13Speaker 3: wants to know, oh, I like that. Even if they
- 54:16Speaker 3: walk in the studio and they know on the owner,
- 54:17Speaker 3: I'd be like, this is Danny, he works with us,
- 54:20Speaker 3: or like that just makes me more comfortable.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 3: I find a lot of condescendingness and when people kind
- 54:26Speaker 3: of just be like they work for me.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I was at an event the other day and someone said,
- 54:30Speaker 1: just so you know, I'm her boss, and I was like, yeah,
- 54:34Speaker 1: I don't know if you had to say that. I
- 54:36Speaker 1: don't even know the point of saying it. But I
- 54:38Speaker 1: think mainly in corporate and maybe not very small smaller.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Well, I don't want to say an entrepreneurs. I don't know,
- 54:44Speaker 2: but I do see.
- 54:45Speaker 1: I guess if you're not at the higher level, you
- 54:48Speaker 1: see that more because I don't even think the executives
- 54:50Speaker 1: be like I'm the boss.
- 54:52Speaker 3: No, but like look at Connell from Our Heart, Yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 3: he was hugging everybody and chilling. I'm like, what, I
- 54:58Speaker 3: don't know, yeah, yeah, yeah, but you know that's the
- 55:00Speaker 3: thing too. I feel like there's this middle of success
- 55:03Speaker 3: when you try to prove yourself. I can only relate
- 55:05Speaker 3: to this. When I was kind of getting some decent money,
- 55:08Speaker 3: I wanted to wear leubatons. I wanted to wear my
- 55:10Speaker 3: fucking one Louis Biton bag everywhere. I needed to throw
- 55:13Speaker 3: it in your face.
- 55:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:14Speaker 3: Now I'm kind of like, you know what I mean,
- 55:16Speaker 3: Like I don't know.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Well that's how I feel about Montessori school right now.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Every time I see someone, I'm like, I pay.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Two thousand dollars a month for my one year old
- 55:23Speaker 2: to go to school. I should just have it as
- 55:26Speaker 2: a billboard at this point.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Oh bro, I feel like I'm luxury and that's really
- 55:31Speaker 1: probably a regular person thing.
- 55:32Speaker 2: But I'm like, now that's a lot.
- 55:36Speaker 3: That's better than they care, you.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Know, I literally, but I brag about it, like and
- 55:41Speaker 1: I'm pretty I saw some comedian talk about like how
- 55:43Speaker 1: when black people brag when they're rich, Asian people brag
- 55:46Speaker 1: when they're rich, and how white people brag when they're rich,
- 55:48Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, I'm definitely the black person
- 55:51Speaker 1: that was like, I pay two games.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I try to find ways in a point where I'm
- 55:56Speaker 3: feeling a little inferior. Yeah, sometimes people you never know
- 56:00Speaker 3: they making my like it's I can't explain it. But
- 56:02Speaker 3: there's moments where people will make you feel like you
- 56:04Speaker 3: don't belong in the room there.
- 56:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's when I might do a little bit of really.
- 56:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I'm trying to think. The last time I
- 56:11Speaker 3: haven't I had this story. I told him horrible. It's
- 56:14Speaker 3: on our Patreon where I came back from Paris and
- 56:18Speaker 3: I was hanging in this Beyonce and jay Z party.
- 56:21Speaker 3: It was very small, like thirty people, and after that
- 56:23Speaker 3: you couldn't tell me shit. It was me and alex
- 56:25Speaker 3: I was like fuck you bitch, and Mionce with like,
- 56:28Speaker 3: you know, in the air together. So I just kept
- 56:31Speaker 3: finding ways to bring it up. So we went to
- 56:33Speaker 3: like Spotify dinner that week and everybody's just like, oh,
- 56:35Speaker 3: horrible decisions. Never heard of it. Yes, actually I've been
- 56:39Speaker 3: to France, not that you asked, was there whatever, but
- 56:44Speaker 3: like i'd be trying to figure out a way, but
- 56:46Speaker 3: I don't know, And I think that's kind of when
- 56:47Speaker 3: you do have and I know that I came from something,
- 56:51Speaker 3: so I just can't say it came from nothing, but
- 56:53Speaker 3: like when you had that struggle, you want to know,
- 56:54Speaker 3: you want people to know I belong here too, Yeah,
- 56:56Speaker 3: because I have a lot of hell of privileged people
- 56:59Speaker 3: that I know don't really.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Have that that driver or the that that they're the backstory,
- 57:06Speaker 2: they don't need to.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Like I hang with this really rich girl sometimes when
- 57:12Speaker 3: I'm in LA, like grew up rich. I think our
- 57:15Speaker 3: family's got a fucking castle somewhere. And I never really
- 57:20Speaker 3: see her tell you anything about her life because she
- 57:23Speaker 3: realizes it's so it's not part of her story. Yeah,
- 57:26Speaker 3: like everything she's experienced isn't exciting. Like when I told
- 57:29Speaker 3: her about the Beyonce and jay Z thing, She's like,
- 57:32Speaker 3: oh yeah. I'm like, well you met them before. She's like, yeah,
- 57:35Speaker 3: well I used to hang with the Rnall's when I
- 57:37Speaker 3: was a kid who own LVMA.
- 57:39Speaker 1: That's hilarious And I'm like, okay.
- 57:42Speaker 3: It's to note the bitch, But like you know, so,
- 57:46Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, I wonder if it kind of shows
- 57:48Speaker 3: that you don't really have much. But what I appreciate
- 57:51Speaker 3: is like people that can enjoy with you. Like the
- 57:52Speaker 3: first person I called after that Beyonce and jay z
- 57:55Speaker 3: night was charlottmgne cover bed with his wife who was
- 57:57Speaker 3: eleven thirty at night. Me and Alex are drunk in
- 57:59Speaker 3: the street or something like, oh, I tell somebody And
- 58:02Speaker 3: he was so excited and laughing and he's like, y'all
- 58:04Speaker 3: in now, I'm like, brouh. The next time I see
- 58:07Speaker 3: them one name, but they put it home the Bitch
- 58:10Speaker 3: for Paris, and it's just this cool, exciting milestone. But
- 58:13Speaker 3: maybe I will get to the place where it doesn't
- 58:14Speaker 3: matter anymore.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I don't know, hope not, no, no, no no. So
- 58:20Speaker 1: now that you've traveled the world, you owned companies, you're
- 58:24Speaker 1: flying your family out, what advice would you give to someone.
- 58:31Speaker 2: That would even just in my shoes? You know?
- 58:34Speaker 1: What advice would you give to someone that's playing hasn't
- 58:37Speaker 1: fully taken off the ground yet and they've been hovering
- 58:40Speaker 1: for a long time.
- 58:41Speaker 3: I would say, thinking bigger than the biggest thing you're
- 58:44Speaker 3: thinking of. I think that we sell ourselves short a lot.
- 58:49Speaker 3: Whether it be I don't know. This is just made
- 58:52Speaker 3: me thinking right. Eating while Broke is currently a podcast.
- 58:56Speaker 3: It seems like next up is TV show that seems
- 58:58Speaker 3: like what that is? Right?
- 58:59Speaker 1: But I also want to do touring, which eighty five
- 59:02Speaker 1: South has been like just do it, but Dolly's like
- 59:05Speaker 1: hell no, and eighty five for South is like do
- 59:08Speaker 1: that shit?
- 59:09Speaker 3: Why does Dolly say now.
- 59:12Speaker 1: She thinks I need to spend more time growing my
- 59:14Speaker 1: audience like baby steps and then but I low key
- 59:19Speaker 1: secretly want to do ice cube in LA.
- 59:21Speaker 3: I would tell you for this piece of advice, then
- 59:25Speaker 3: I would say, you do it in the middle. You
- 59:26Speaker 3: do one show. You do one show in your hometown
- 59:30Speaker 3: or where your largest base of audience is, and that's LA, right,
- 59:32Speaker 3: I'm assuming yeah. So it's like you do your LA show,
- 59:35Speaker 3: you don't tour, you do your LA show. You practice,
- 59:37Speaker 3: you get your biggest fan based there, you already have
- 59:39Speaker 3: all your friends come. It's probably where all the talent
- 59:41Speaker 3: you know is. So you do it right there in LA.
- 59:45Speaker 3: After you do that, then you kind of get your
- 59:47Speaker 3: feet wet or this space is semi big. Make a
- 59:52Speaker 3: Patreon or invite your top fans, mit fifteen fans really
- 59:57Speaker 3: and write fifteen fans, have them sitting wide laugh with you. Uh,
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: maybe put the ingredients out there and be like this
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: is what I got, y'all gonna help me make this meal?
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Maybe they just shout at you and they share stories
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: with you.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: When you, guys did your Patreon, what were you what
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: was your first Like, did you even think you would
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: make money when you first did the Patreon?
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: No, we make way too much on Patreon now. I
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: mean I'm sure like there you know, there's patreons bigger
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: than me. But like we did it before. I think
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: we were one of the first black popular podcasts that
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: we know on there. Like we had our first year
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: of year seven, I mean the first year of your seven,
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: and we only did it to make more money for
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: the studio. Mandy and I were like, this shit costing
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: too much. We ain't making no money. Friend of mine
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: was like, have you heard of l Chrapo trap House
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: something like that? It's like a white podcast. I was
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: like no, and he's like, they make like ninety round Patreon.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: You should do You guys were like, dude, du what's
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: that right?
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: I mean, shit, we don't make ninety, but we do
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: make twenty.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Get the hang out on Patreon mm hm, get the.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: But to be honest, though, our Patreon, like we started
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: a high very early of people that really resonated with
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Mandy and I because we were corporate girls talking about sex,
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: and it was kind of the life that if you
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: didn't live it, you'd want to live it, or you
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: could see yourself living it like host stories while like
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: being overdraft and are you know, being at your desk whatever.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: So we made Patreon. It was to get extra money
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: for filming. I remember a thousand dollars a month feeling perfect.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: Hell, yeah that's not I know that sounds small.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Yeah, So when it got higher, Mandy and I just
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: started spelling more of our personal lives on Patreon, and
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: it became like we were just talking to fans instead
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: of like doing a show. You know, like we have
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: so so many guests now that people that really fucked
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: with Mandy and Wheezy they want Patreon. Like a lot
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: of people enjoy those episodes more. I love like a
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: better looking set, but I get it, Mandy and I'd
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: be on zoom. I'd be hungover shit. I think I
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: was still mollied out on one episode. I was like,
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: oh my god, you guys didn't sleave anyway, Like people
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: like that shit when you're very raw, and so we
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: offer that so it's something different. But yeah, I wouldn't
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: write your closest fans if it's not Patreon right now,
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: figure out where you talk to them the most, have
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: them come and watch. Well.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I think this season is the most I've seen fans
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: reach out, which, by the way, I'm absolutely shocked. I'll
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: get a DM like please don't stop, please don't quit.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: We love this sir. Yeah, or like I promise you're
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: asking the questions that we want.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: You to hear, and I'll be like, thank you, because
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: I for sure had a shitty day today and I
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: really want to jump off a bridge. But that message
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: just like literally, I know it's random, but you help them. Yeah,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I'm like, you taketed the right time, and I will
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: respond that like, Yo, the timing couldn't have been better,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: thank you for saving my life.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Fans too, like we look at other people's numbers and
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: comparison is a thief and joy.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: Oh, I definitely do.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I'll be like, look at them, but you know now,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I look at y'all and I'll be like, take notes.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Change when we're in line to them, right, Like I
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: remember when call her Daddy made the sixty thousand dollars
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: sixty million right, and I was like, oh my god.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: I'll never get me. I was saying ship like that.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I don't have that. I'm like this podcast makes how much?
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Like why am I talking like this?
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: And we really have to pour into ourselves better because
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: we always are looking at something else. I do it
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: with my body doing my hair. Shit, I was almost like,
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: oh my god, my hair is not brain different. The
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: got my hair like thinking about all this little ship
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: that doesn't fucking matter. And it's like we need to
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: really learn how to be happy with ourselves because like,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: I think social media has bucked me up. I'm getting
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: way better at it, but like body, hair, clothes and success,
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: they're all the things I see on Instagram and think
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: I'm not doing well enough with h and this is
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: fucked up. But it did happen to me. I went
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: to solid Core, which is this like plate's ish cool
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: thing to do. It's in La Chicago, New York, Big Cities, Atlanta,
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: and there's a girl on Instagram I follow that. I
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: always thought she was like so fucking insanely hot. When
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: I was in the workout, she was right next to
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: me and I recognized her halfway through. She was really struggling.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: And it's not like it's something to make fun of.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: You're already working out. But I got in the car
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: and I thought, oh my god, I have I'm stronger
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: than I thought. I was right. I'm looking at this
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: girl all the time on my timeline, thinking she's the
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: baddest bitch in the world. And I had something like
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: she even said to me. I was like, damn bitch,
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: she was getting it right. We don't know each other,
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: and I was like, wow, there's something we all have
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: that someone else doesn't. So when you're looking and you're
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: thinking that, it's not shit me. I want kids so bad. Really, yes,
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: I would love to have kids, like I would love
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: to have.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Over to you for a weekend.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Oh my mom would love to watch over. My mom
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: love taking somebody's baby.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: Oh really, Oh she's in LA.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: That's perfect because I ain't got no family in I
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: pay every minute a well.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Well, my mom will act like it's an inconvenience, but
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: she can't wait to do it. Let me watch your baby,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: Colleen called me, and now I've got to watch this
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: damn baby. Now'll get in the house, baby proud anyway,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: I'll talk to you later. Like she loves taking somebody's
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: problems on her kids or anything, and like, yeah, but
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: I think about that. I think.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: I was at a friend's kids graduation, her daughter graduately
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: needs her, and I was like, like three people had
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: asked me for a picture when I was in the auditorium,
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: and I remember thinking, like, I wonder if they think
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: I'm like living this cool ass like but somebody was like, damn,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: you came from LA to be here. Someone said that
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: to me, and I was like, when I could like
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: die to be one of the parents in the front.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Oh wow, But you never know, right, Like there's always
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: something we all want. I think we all need that
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: little drama in our lives to keep going.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: You think so oh, like the when you say drama,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: like the need to want something more?
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Yeah, how are we going to be autopilot if we
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: have all we want? Like what do you want?
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: I want this guy's limit.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: It's funny though, because I used to always want like
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: the marriage and the baby, because I always felt like
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: I was good at business and then I just sucked
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: at personal. But now that I experienced marriage and the baby,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I'm like, I think I'm gonna stay in my business
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: life because I suck at it. It's just like yo,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: you know what I have to chop it up to Like,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: it's just not my forte. I don't know why I
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: can't master my personal but I could.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: It's tough. We all can't because it's not something you
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: can control.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, maybe that's it because I feel like in business,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: like I will pivot the fuck if it's not working,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: pivot again, pivot again. But then in my personal I'd
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: be like, oh, you went left. I don't even know
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: what to say.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Is tough. Yeah, money we can control, Like I feel
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: like I can make a million dollars easier than I
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: can find a good person to date. I mean, it's
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: fucked up to say that, but I really do believe that.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: I feel like when it's things you can control, like
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: you can't control money. Let's say, like right, like there's
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: people out there that are working hard as fucking or
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: not getting there, but like you could possibly take up
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: another hustle to find some more money.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: But I was taking pictures out of Oo pizzeria on
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: the side because they would give me one hundred dollars
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: a night, okay for five hours, and I would just
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: take pictures, pictures and I would flip them a little bit.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. The pictures of fifteen, but
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: i'd tell people with twenty Yeah, yeah, that's like finding
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: that hustle. I was on Craigslist looking for gig jobs.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: That was a caddy girl one day, Like I told
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: you that.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying. Like, do you think now
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: do you think entrepreneurs are like born out the womb
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: or do you think they could go to college and
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: then become an entrepreneur.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: I don't think entrepreneurs are for everyone. Yeah, because I
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: think it's too exhausting. Yeah, Like I think working a
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: nine to five, I think the goal for me, before
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: realizing I wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: make two fifty at a.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Corporate I'm still praying to hit that too fuch at
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: a corporate job.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: Oh, at a corporate That to me would have made
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: me not do anything else. Okay, because the one seventy
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: five was great. I was living a great apartment and traveling,
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: but my parents needed help and I was like, oh,
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: I need more money for my parents. If I had
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: two fifty, that's money I could have to help them.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: And if I want to have a kid, I can
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: live in this money, but mind you in New York.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, like two fifty in another city might be
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: a million dollars. Yeah, my rent even then was twenty five.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: It's crazy, bro Yeah. But I say all that to
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: say nine to fivers are making a lot more money
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: than entrepreneurs. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. Entrepreneurs are
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: out here really struggling. It's tough. But I think it's
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: because some people are chasing a dream that they think
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: they should do when really that's not it.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: How would they identify the dream that is it though?
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: And from the dream that isn't.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: I think one if it feels like a passion, are
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: you happy doing it?
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: Like?
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Are you doing it because you actually love this? Like
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: why do you love making? Eating while broke?
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I just love great rags to riches stories, Like I
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: have some rich friends and they always tell me they
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: were like in jail somewhere or they were so on
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: the ask somewhere, and I'm like, wait, you and you
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: live in the seven thousand square Foo mansion in La Oh,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: tell me more. And I just love it. Like I
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: would hang out and I just love the stories. I'd
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: be like, Okay, but you know.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: And I would say then with your audience and feeling inspired.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: But I was.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Definitely lucky because I felt like the friends that I have,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: like if I'm like, Damn, this bill was high, I'd
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: be like, you wouldn't understand it, be like try me.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I'd be like a thousand bucks to be like, no,
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: that bill's.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: High, you know. I'd really and they'd be like, no,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: it's high, you know.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: And so luckily I was fortunate to be with some
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: friends that really like that. I felt like, damn, you're
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: hanging out with me, Like if you and I hung out,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: I would be lowkey geeked just because you have a
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: great personality, but I would also be lowkey geeked because
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I'm like I look up to you, like I definitely
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: admire you, you know.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: I feel like that with people sometimes where I'm like,
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: are we like we're peers? Right? No matter if maybe
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: like maybe my podcast has been going on longer than yours,
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: you're like, oh, that's what I'm gonna get, Like it's
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: still appears.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Well, you're more than just a pot.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Like in my eyes, well you and Mandy accomplished was great,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: But you gotta think you're a beautiful attractive woman in
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: the entertainment industry. I have sidebar conversations all the time.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I'll leave a meeting, I'll be like, this person wants
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: to fuck, and my friends will be like, how do
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: you know, and be like, Bro, I've been in this
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: game way too long. I can tell by the questions
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: that the hints they want to fuck, and then I
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: gotta navigate that. So to be attractive woman, Okay, then
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: you're an entertainment. Then you're an entrepreneurs, then you're handling
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: all this business. Then you're sale. When I hear sales,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: nothing excites me, you know how you get when I
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: hear a girl could sell, I'll be like, oh, this
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: is a it says, this is a real, real time,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: you know. But so I look at someone like you
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: and I'm like, yeah, I would definitely be in awe
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: like you know, like you know geeks, and same with
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: my friends. Like I have my homie day Storm, I'll
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: hang out in his house or whatever. He literally will
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: only hang out when we work out, which sucks because
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: his workouts are absolutely terrifyingly terriblely hard workouts.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Like if I want to have a talk a day Storm, I'm.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Like, I'll be at your house at four to work out,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: and it'll be the worst workout of the century, you know,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: But I still look up to him, and I'll still
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: be like geeked, Like yo, I could walk into your
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: house or borrow your house for the weekend. And but I,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: even though we're friends, I still look up to you,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: and you're vulnerable. But they're the real inspiration behind my show.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: They're realize stories and realize advice.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: And honestly sharing that to the world and then you
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: receiving that fan feedback and things like that, like having
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: the passion that making you feel good learning in the
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: middle of your job. That's how you know you keep going,
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. But also I think the
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: largest mistake entrepreneurs make is if they have a regular
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: job or a steady gig, they leave it for the
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: passion before the passion flourishes. Yeah, and I didn't do that,
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Like I was working eighty hours a week doing horrible
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: and yeah, you know, literally coming in with my suitcase
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: to the office, like, oh, I went to go see
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: my parents, but really I had a fucking four hundred
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: seat show that we fill down and like that. Today
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: is different now it's double right and it feels great,
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: but like, nah, I had to do both. I think
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: living in the entertainment industry today is interesting because it
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: could be anybody, right, Like, influencers have really ruined fame?
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: You think so?
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Yes, I guess I could see that. It's weird because
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: I see, like I feel like they're self made and
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: they work very hard, like when you look at the
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: behind the scenes, they work hard.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: But I definitely will say I don't know. I would
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: like to hear your perspective on it.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: I think influencers ruined fame because not saying that they're talentless,
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: the content creation as a form of a talent. Like
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: if the Internet is gone, then where do you take
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: it and what do you do with it? You know,
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: I have a big influencer that reached out to me.
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: They're not going broke or anything like they're making like
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: maybe thirty fortieth posts, but they reached out to me
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: and we're like, I need you to have dinner with
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: me or some shit and influences me to do some
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: other shit. Because I realized this is like just what
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: if Instagram doesn't want me to do ads anymore? What
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: if Instagram stops advertisments for influencers, what if the hashtag
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: goes away? Like she was terrified, and it was when
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: TikTok was about to get banned or something, and I
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: was like, damn. I'm like, I don't know half of
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: my nas year off of heigi ads. But she was right,
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: like I didn't do anything else. I've just been learning
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: this one skill and that shit is tough because like,
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: I don't know, I wouldn't want my kids to be
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: an influencer. I think it also inflates when I say
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: it ruined fame, like you have movie stars, actors, actresses,
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: and even podcasters make fame to me, like it's not real.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Well, I've seen people too that will get like ten
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: thousand followers and they all already switch up. I'm like, yo,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: if your bank account still read zero, who gives a
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: fuck about some likes?
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: But the same shit is weird because the likes and
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: all this stuff makes you think you're better than you
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: are when there's so many more of you, so you
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: really have to find a thing that makes you different.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Like honest, I follow so many girls that are just
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: hot and kind of look the same because of their
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: clothes or their workouts. Or whatever. I don't think I
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: know their names.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Really no.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: I remember sitting at Lucy and it's my favorite restaurant
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: New York. I always go there in the East Village
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: and I was looking at this girl and I tapped
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: her and I was like, do I know you? Do
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: we have a school together? Genuinely didn't know. I feel
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: like I know you, And she was like, oh, I'm
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: an influencer. I was like, maybe I follow you. What's
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: your name? Didn't ring a bell? Looked at it and
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: I was like, damn, I've been following this bitter a minute.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: But that's it.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: You're not even connecting to the content. Yeah, because it's
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: just grid post after grid post up or something something.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: That's why people like just hilarious Drew Ski a Pretty V.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: They fucking stick out because we know what they're doing.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Yeah and they yeah, but those are also like I know. Well,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I'll say for Pretty V because we had her aunt,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: she's she's also hard.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: She's like a hustler too.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: I would say she's she's more of an entrepreneur than
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: an influencer. Know she started that way, you know you could.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I feel the same with like b Simone, but something that.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: I have something that they do.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: But I will say I honestly say like and it
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: could be just me vibed, but I would say almost
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: ninety percent of my guests have true integrity. There's somewhere
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I'll be like after interview reps, I'll be like, Wow,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: I called bullshit, and I won't say who, but there
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: was a couple of episodes where my team I'll be like, damn,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: that was a bullshit, meaning like they looked bigger than
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: what they were. And then when I got in, I
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: was like, you don't know your shit, You're a fake.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Maybe some people just get lucky.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: They got lucky, or they didn't name drop like hey,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: your baby mama helped you, or your mom helped you.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Why wouldn't you give them the credit that they deserved.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Strange when people don't credit those that helped along the way.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I think it's completely strange.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: Do you know one of them?
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: By the way, if you're on my show and I
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: catch it, I won't say it in front of the guests,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: but I will go me even the show raps, I'll
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: be like, I called bullshit. They left out somebody because
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: their story isn't adding up, And I will literally you
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: could ask my crew.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: I will be wait, it was.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: Mine, the sugar Daddy.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Your story was as real as they get.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: But you know, you know you could tell because they'll
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: be a missing gap. You know, they'll be like some
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: part of the story where you'd be like that that
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: doesn't line up. There's something missing there. I can always
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: tell because I like, well, you.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: Know, sometimes the struggle isn't what people like to show,
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: right the highlight reels that they need to show.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: The struggle on this show.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: On this show, you gotta tell me to credit your wife.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: If you're not giving other people their flower, it never
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: takes from you. I was gonna say to you, Charlottagne
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: makes me do that more than anyone like. It makes
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: me thank my team so much. Like I've never seen
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: anyone be so gracious towards those around him, even when
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: I pay him a compliment, just no one else around
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Damn you kill this shit man. That was some though.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, okay, I've never really I've seen Charlomage
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: one time, so I literally saw him, was like, thank
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: you so much for everything you do for me.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: Have a good day. Wait, you just met him in Atlanta.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that was it. And that's all I said was
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: thank you.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: What every Christian famous person like normal and authentic. And
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: I think I made a joke on a podcast and
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: I tested it once. I was like, man like, they
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: were like, who do you think is someone that you've
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: met that's a celebrity that you expected to be different?
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: I was like, Charlomanne answers the phone every time. I
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: think it's very strange. Yeah, because you're so like, he's
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: literally answered. I could hear him at the breakfast. I
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: was up, he's monnies me, Like, just really wants to
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: make sure he's accessible to people that he cares about.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: And I think that's what's inspired me to be a
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: really good leader and just all around good person when
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: it comes to people that have paved the way, because like,
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: we don't see that, we see a lot of I
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: I I, yeah, you know.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Also, I think the cool thing about him is that
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: he has like an all black woman team pretty much,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: and he treats all those women great. Because I've worked
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: for other people and with other people in the industry
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: and it ain't like that it's more of the boy's club.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: I see the boys getting blessed and the woman getting dirty.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: And Charlemagne is very much again an authentic person. Yeah,
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: Like I heard him on a I had a call
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: with him for something else, and the other person on
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: the other end of the call was very like, what's
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: the word I'm looking for, almost like a shell of
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: themselves trying to show you how great they are. Charlamagne
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: was in a T shirt in South Carolina, I think
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: visiting family, or maybe he was outside of his crib,
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: but he was like on a chair on a porch,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: just looking like he was chilling, and everybody else is
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: suited up, and he's like, y'all are so lucky for
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: me to be on this call. Just I could tell
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: you that's what he's thinking. And he's so much of
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: himself and still giving you gems. And I was like, Wow,
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: he didn't even feel the need to like do it
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: up for some Hollywood people. Yeah, because he knows like this.
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: His brand is so raw, and I think we have
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: to be that way. We can't try to be the
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: person that we think other people would like, because they'll
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: smell it just like you do. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: People smell that all day every day. You could be
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: a casual listener that's in that YouTube that's like this
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: person's a liar.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, people clock it. Yeah.
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: And for you to know that as someone that's bringing
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: these people in, like I think that says a lot.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: Eventually we'll get to the.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Space where there's like I can actually call bullshit on
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: the mic. I'm not there yet, I know, but there
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: have been a couple where I'm like, bull shit, what
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: about you?
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: Being like, there's got to be a.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Oh I go in and you can tell because they
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: won't answer the question. And that's how I know it's bullshit.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: I'll be like, Okay, you're just boying. I'll ask seven
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: different ways. I'm like, Okay, I call bullshit, but I
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: won't say it on the mic yet. I'm not there yet.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: Plus I gotcha host, They're like, oh, like be there
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: for the moment.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: And then also like there's the uncomfortable space, you know
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: with our shows, like we dig into the vulnerability a
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: little bit deep, and I like to say to everybody
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: it's a safe space. Like if I think there's something
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: that you're going to say on our show that I
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: think is going to ruin your career or cancel you
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: do you don't even have to send your publicists or
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: whoever over to like, oh my god, Colleen or beg me,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: I'm going to remove it just on game. I'm just
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: you shared your story.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: I completely agree with you. I think that keeping those
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: moments like I've seen Megan James, I mean, I don't
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: want to talk too much shit. She's spent some money
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: about WTS Studio, but there's some clips where I'm like, WHOA, yeah,
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: you know, like I'm kind of surprised you invite someone
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: in your space to like do that m h. And
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: she's just sticking out of my mind right now. I'm
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: not saying she's like a terrible person, but it's a
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: it's a style interviewing that works for her. Maybe she's
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: on more streams than almost who knows, But like, I
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: don't know if I could do it.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: That's how I feel about honestly, like Jason Lee, to
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: be honest, I feel like some of the stuff he'd
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: be doing, I'll be like, well maybe, And I have
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: this conversation with little brother all the time, and I'm
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: always like, ego, maybe maybe I should sell out, Like
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: because I look at such and such kind of like
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: how you look at social media, be like, look at
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: this person. It's like they're really honestly, like they don't
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: give a fuck about anybody's career, you know, and then
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: they Jason Lee.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: At Charlemagne back in the day, I'm Magan James. I
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: think you know what you're getting when you go on
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: the door. Yeah, And I think people almost it's like
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: ze Way. People would say, how the fuck does anyone
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: keep going on there?
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Like, you know, I don't know what ze Way is, but.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: You don't know what she's the black girl that had
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: the show on Showtime where she would ask people questions
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: and like should Julia Fox. Charlemagne was a guest on there.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: She was her famous one.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: But what was she ask them?
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: She would just ask them questions that would make them
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: look bad. Oh really, Like she showed Charlemgne a diagram
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: and had them point out someone She was like, oh,
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: so you think that white people are superior type shit?
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Oh okay, But like it's like she was one of
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: those and I think like people prepare themselves for those
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: funny Marco. I don't know how people.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Say what that nes is that the one is where
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: the guy just says like insulting things or something kind
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: of yeah, because I saw that show and I was like, look,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: I just love that show period.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: But like it's content.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's content is very good.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: I think maybe it's just content that I can't make,
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: but yeah, you know, it's hard for me to push
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: unless I think something's wrong, Like I do Man on
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: the Street for my TV show a lot. Yesterday, this
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: guy talked about how he had another girl to work
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: or do something and I was like, he's black. Oh,
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: all kind of girls you day, and he's like, I
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: prefer white. And then I can see the camera crewisers
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: in the back, like oh, like really, he was like, yeah,
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: I just updated a black girl and they're really crazy.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: I was like, okay, so have you ever met a Karen?
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: He was like, well, I don't think that type of way. Oh,
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: but there are crazy white women.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: But basically right now, my future ex husband he loves
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: white women. But his thing is that black women's standards
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: are are higher or like they're not as easy as
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: a white girl, and so he lives for the white girls.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: He lives for that's.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Literally only cheated, I mean the white women, to the
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: point that I was like, you must, yeah, you must,
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: you're dating me, So your mom is happy. Yeah, and
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: then I realized, oh, maybe I was just light skinning up.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Like, do you This is completely random, but I have
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: a pet peeve about dating a guy that only dates
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: mixed girls.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: I can't do it.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: I haven't missed.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I feel like you haven't.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: Only I didn't know, Like you don't know until.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: You don't know, but when you find I know.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: For me, I just feel like there's a little bit
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: of colorism issues there, Like dudes that are like I
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: only like light skin I'm like, all right, I don't know,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: that's weird. But I started to think when my ex
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: husband my future that maybe he maybe he genuinely just
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: likes white girls and he's just saying that as like
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: a cover up.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: No, I think you're right.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: He's like, hey, she light white in a different light, Yeah, exactly,
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: like on some real shit. I think it's kind of
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: scary because you really have to clock them as light
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: skinn people. You gotta clock them as mixed girls like
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: this shit is not cute for like a man that
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: you're dating to only date. I had a guy tell
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: me once that I was acting dark skin He told
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: me it was crazy that my hair wasn't super curly.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Like most mixed girls. Wow, And he was like, you
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: talk different. Wow.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Yeah I don't like that. Yeah I don't. I won't.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: I won't.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Well right now, thank god, I'm like one hundred percent
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: focused on not dating, which is this is the longest
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: I've ever been seeing.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: That's when they be coming too. I'll be trying to
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: act like I'm not focused on dating. I'll walk in
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: the club and be like, I'm not looking for anyone.
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: I like how you be positioned in it too. I
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: want to date so bad, man, but it's it's tough,
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: and honestly.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: How do you juggle a breakup with a with a business. Honestly,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I'm terrible. If it wasn't for my high school friends
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: scooping me off the floor behind closed doors.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: Girl, he's gonna.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: Be okay, you know what I'm saying, Like, I have responsibilities,
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: like hate to get more of it. But the only
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: things that have kept me from killing myself is my
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: dog and my team. And it's not because they're encouraging
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: me to stay, you know, and it's like, hey, we
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: need you to be alive so we can make money.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: But like, literally I think about them and I'm like
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: one of the people that worked for me I recently
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: found out used to be homeless and thanks me all
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: the time for being able to do things for their
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: mother now and like it's fucking wild. I get random
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: texts from a lot of our staff at two in
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: the morning, love working with you, and I'm like, all
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: these niggas is wrong and it's such a good feeling.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: But I think about that. I think about that when
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: I'm getting down on myself, like how dare you? Yeah,
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like, you are helping all
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: of these people. I'm gonna leave my parents alone in
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: the world. And when I tell you, my dog no bullshit.
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: I was just being trauma queen one day. I was like,
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: I don't want to be here anymore. And I looked
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: at her. I was like, who's gonna feed me up
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: with those little things? Like really got to bring you back.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: But when running those businesses, I'm sure for people that
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: are listening that only have themselves, you probably feel like, well,
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: who do I fight for? You? Fight for your future self?
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: Right? Everything is momentary. When you're broke, it's momentary. Sometimes
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: when you get in a big check, it might be momentary.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: Like everything is.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: Kind of momentary. It's just that feeling that will last
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: for a little bit, as strong emotions only for a
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: little bit, even when you're crazy in love. It just
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: kind of lasts for a period of time. And I
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: think that when we're down, we feel like it's the end.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: But you've gotta have faith in your future self.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that. I'm a personally remember that.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: No, now that I have Zariyah, my daughter, I'm like, yo,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: if you leave and you the number one gangst the
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: soldier for her, ain't nobody gonna go harder for ze
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: than you?
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: Then then what's she gonna have?
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: And I'm like, shit, I guess, I guess that's it.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. But I do think too though.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: Sometimes when you are having a bad day and you
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: have all these responsibilities, I'll.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Be like, well, how can I go? I got like
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: sixteen things planned next week that I have to get done.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: I can't even take the one day off.
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: This is why they said they all done. There say
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: this thing about how you have to have something for
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: two week, month, No, I think next days, week or month.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: I can't remember what it is, but it's basically so
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: that you don't get to where you feel like you
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: have nothing. There has to be something on the calendar,
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: whether it be a workout, whether it be a nail,
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: something you scheduled for yourself. Even if it's not a trip,
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: it's dinner at a cool place. You gotta have something
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: because if you don't have that, then you feel hopeless,
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: like we need to have those things. My mother actually
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: gets like that. My mom's in her seventies. She gets
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: so bored.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: I can't wait to bring the riots to your mom.
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: Oh my god, baby something to do bad. She does
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: it with random people in like restaurants, especially if they're
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: like black and cool. Shed just be looking at the baby.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: She won't talk either. She'll just start to do this
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: while the mom's eating it's fine, and then keep talking
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: to me.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, weezy, it was such a good
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: time having you that.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: I hope that now that you're in LA, or when
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: you pop in LA, you hit me up.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Please do and hopefully you know if you pass a

- 1:29:45Speaker 3: teaches women how to keep them on the phone.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: And like, I was in a celibate relationship, so I
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: will say.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: I just got out of a smular relationship.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: Really, I hated it, and I absolutely hated it.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I have hundred and then I got with my husband,
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: who was like the opposite, just a SuperH and I
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: was like.
