Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, Jimmy Fallon, he's on WOR every night, 9 to midnight.
- 0:09Speaker 2: You'll get addicted real fast if you listen. It's the
- 0:11Speaker 2: funniest show on the radio. Jimmy Fallon, 9 to midnight,
- 0:14Speaker 2: every weeknight, WOR. Then on Saturday nights, does the best
- 0:18Speaker 2: late night show on television with the single finest monologue
- 0:22Speaker 2: anywhere on television. Saturday nights at 10 on the Fox
- 0:25Speaker 2: News Channel. Jimmy Fallon, how you doing?
- 0:29Speaker 1: You know what? I'm in good spirits. Thanks for that
- 0:33Speaker 1: fine intro about my TV show this weekend. We have
- 0:35Speaker 1: a girl on that was in the movie Black Panther,
- 0:38Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure Trump renamed it Orange Panther. He's
- 0:41Speaker 1: on a binge this week. Right after Lake America or
- 0:45Speaker 1: New America, whatever the heck's happening down in Mexico. Everything's
- 0:48Speaker 1: got a new title, Simone.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I love it. He is getting a little silly lately,
- 0:54Speaker 2: isn't he? What's getting into him?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Something's going on. Well, I will say this, because they
- 1:00Speaker 1: had this whole crazy convention down there last night. I
- 1:04Speaker 1: believe he's still speaking.
- 1:06Speaker 3: He might still be on stage. He did an hour
- 1:10Speaker 3: and 50 minutes, and everybody.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Was like, well, you know, Trump's crazy because he's going
- 1:13Speaker 1: to book this thing, and there's going to be football on,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and people are going to be watching football. But little
- 1:17Speaker 1: did they know he'd still be speaking when the football
- 1:20Speaker 1: game was over.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I was like, he had to have a plan.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Sure enough, he did. That was like a New Year's Eve.
- 1:26Speaker 1: That was like a ball drop. It went all night.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But normally he's pretty good on stage. I mean, he's
- 1:32Speaker 2: not a stand-up comic, but he's pretty good at coming close.
- 1:35Speaker 2: But what was he thinking not tightening that up, not
- 1:39Speaker 2: focusing that speech?
- 1:41Speaker 1: You know, man, this is the thing. There's definitely nobody
- 1:45Speaker 1: in his orbit that's saying the word no to him. Nobody.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And he likes the live
- 1:51Speaker 1: element so much more. than all the buttoned-up stuff he
- 1:55Speaker 1: does with the press. Because you understand, like, even when
- 1:57Speaker 1: he talks to the press, he talks for two hours.
- 1:59Speaker 1: But it's hostile. You know what I'm saying? It's hostile.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So it's very rare that he actually gets, like, a
- 2:05Speaker 1: home game. That's why he likes rallies, you know, because
- 2:07Speaker 1: it's a totally different approach. You think of, like, every
- 2:09Speaker 1: press conference he does in the White House, they don't
- 2:11Speaker 1: actually ask questions. They just accuse him of things.
- 2:14Speaker 3: They're like, you know, Mr.
- 2:15Speaker 1: President, you're committing transgenocide.
- 2:17Speaker 3: What do you think of this WNBA thing? He's like, whoa,
- 2:21Speaker 3: what just happened?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Oh, you got to follow Jimmy Fallon on Instagram. He
- 2:27Speaker 2: does these great videos on Instagram. The one about Jimmy Kimmel.
- 2:32Speaker 2: The show is on its deathbed. I mean, it's over,
- 2:34Speaker 2: but you've been watching this week. He's vicious, angry. Who
- 2:39Speaker 2: wants to watch such an angry guy on television?
- 2:43Speaker 1: And the whole show, okay? Because his wife is his
- 2:46Speaker 1: head writer. Really?
- 2:47Speaker 3: And his wife, yes, his wife writes a show.
- 2:50Speaker 1: She's the head writer for his show. And that's why...
- 2:53Speaker 1: But that tells you everything. You see, he was obviously
- 2:55Speaker 1: the guy on the man show who was doing a
- 2:57Speaker 1: lot of crass, misogynistic stuff, also wearing blackface quite a bit,
- 3:02Speaker 1: I might add. For a guy who likes to call
- 3:04Speaker 1: Trump a racist, I've got to be honest, blackface, a
- 3:07Speaker 1: little aggressive. I've gotten some odd makeup.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Jobs before my show over the years, but.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Nobody ever confused me with Karl Malone on.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Set, but that's another story.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But the point is, his wife kind of... hijacked his
- 3:21Speaker 1: sensibilities in a lot of ways and turned him into
- 3:24Speaker 1: like another late night woke activist, like a Colbert. And
- 3:28Speaker 1: one of the reasons he goes along with that is
- 3:31Speaker 1: he is paying, like, a protection racket to the outrage mob.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I mean, you think about this. If Jimmy Kimmel is
- 3:36Speaker 1: a Republican and he had a 10-year history of wearing
- 3:39Speaker 1: blackface on TV, his show would have been canceled 10
- 3:42Speaker 1: years ago. Oh, yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You know?
- 3:44Speaker 1: So that's why he always opens every show with a
- 3:47Speaker 1: tribute to whatever the Democrat cause of the day happens
- 3:49Speaker 1: to be. It is straight-up goodfellas. You know, he learns
- 3:52Speaker 1: the business. Quit the mob. And now what? You got
- 3:55Speaker 1: slow business? F you, pay me. Come on, Kimmel. That's
- 3:58Speaker 1: why even when Kimmel was off for summer break, all
- 4:01Speaker 1: of his guest hosts came on and trashed Trump, too.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Did you see Jelly Roll was on? And then poor
- 4:08Speaker 1: Rosie O'Donnell showed up. She didn't realize Jelly Roll was
- 4:11Speaker 1: a person, so she was crushed.
- 4:12Speaker 3: It was going to be craft services.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It was a mess.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Hey, so Comics Unleashed, this is Byron Allen. It's kind
- 4:20Speaker 2: of a low-budget show, and it's not big names, but
- 4:22Speaker 2: it's pure comedy. You know, it's now crushing Fallon and
- 4:26Speaker 2: Kimmel in 18 to 49-year-olds, the key demo.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not surprised by that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You're going to laugh. I almost texted you yesterday. I
- 4:32Speaker 1: was driving into Fox, and I was.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Listening to you talk about this.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Byron Allen, you were saying Byron Allen, he's a genius.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He's a smart guy.
- 4:39Speaker 3: And he realized, like, the thing about people who tune into.
- 4:43Speaker 1: A comedy show is they want to laugh. It's like,
- 4:46Speaker 1: it's a weird thing. It's a weird thing. But all
- 4:50Speaker 1: these other late night shows, like, imagine if you ran
- 4:52Speaker 1: a pizza place. If someone called up and ordered a pizza,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you'd send them a pizza. These late-night shows have not
- 4:57Speaker 1: been sending the pizza. They're like, sorry.
- 5:01Speaker 3: The best I can do is this cauliflower crust.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's not good.
- 5:05Speaker 2: The guy that created late-night television, his name was Pat Weaver.
- 5:08Speaker 2: He worked at NBC. He said, let's have a late-night
- 5:10Speaker 2: show that's entertaining. People will have a few laughs before
- 5:14Speaker 2: they go to sleep. And then he got Steve Allen
- 5:16Speaker 2: to do it. He never would have thought to himself,
- 5:20Speaker 2: Let's get people really angry, mad before they go to sleep.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Let's rile them up right before bedtime.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And the thing about it is also like comics kind
- 5:31Speaker 1: of like they knew better than to take themselves seriously.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You know, we're supposed to be like your misfit buddies
- 5:37Speaker 1: and you can let your guard down because we're just
- 5:39Speaker 1: here to goof off. None of this is real.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And it's crazy to watch because these are like.
- 5:44Speaker 1: A lot of these guys are a little younger than
- 5:46Speaker 1: what we were watching on The Tonight Show. Like if
- 5:48Speaker 1: you turn on a rerun of The Tonight Show, you
- 5:50Speaker 1: see Johnny Ed sitting next to a drunk Dean Martin
- 5:53Speaker 1: or a Rickles. Everybody there is in their 60s, and
- 5:57Speaker 1: they're still sophomorically ridiculous like a bunch of 10-year-old boys.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And that was always the charm of comedy. You saw
- 6:04Speaker 1: what looked like serious adults behaving like five-year-olds. And now
- 6:08Speaker 1: we have five-year-olds trying to.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Act like serious adults.
- 6:11Speaker 1: That's so dumb.
- 6:13Speaker 2: That's the best explanation I've ever heard of this. Jimmy Fallon,
- 6:18Speaker 2: where did you go on vacation? I see the Yellowstone.
- 6:20Speaker 2: This doesn't seem like your kind of vacation.
- 6:24Speaker 1: That's funny. I do know to listen, man. I took
- 6:26Speaker 1: Jenny out to Jackson Hole. which was definitely way too
- 6:31Speaker 1: fancy and classy for me, but it was really nice.
- 6:35Speaker 1: We went and saw the animals in Yellowstone and the
- 6:38Speaker 1: Grand Tetons. The whole problem out there, man, for real,
- 6:42Speaker 1: is it's beautiful, but if you show up with my accent,
- 6:46Speaker 1: everyone thinks you're in the witness protection program. Literally. Every
- 6:50Speaker 1: single person in the state of Wyoming assumed that I
- 6:53Speaker 1: was about to testify, or I already had. It made
- 6:57Speaker 1: for some good conversations. They were trying to, like, get
- 6:59Speaker 1: my rate on whacking their aunt or something.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I'm like, no, I'm a TV guy.
- 7:04Speaker 1: And it was a real friendly crowd. It was actually
- 7:06Speaker 1: very pro-Fox out there. I was thrilled with that. Jackson Hole,
- 7:09Speaker 1: which is, you know, a big Western vibe. It was,
- 7:12Speaker 1: I would say, you know, in terms of the people
- 7:14Speaker 1: I was running into on the street, I would say
- 7:15Speaker 1: it was like 90% Republican. It was actually pretty surprising.
- 7:18Speaker 2: So since when are you a Mr. Outdoorsman out there
- 7:21Speaker 2: in Jackson Hole?
- 7:22Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
- 7:23Speaker 3: This is the thing.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You asked a fair question. I'm clearly not. I like
- 7:28Speaker 1: to drive. That's the thing. Because I was spending 12 hours,
- 7:31Speaker 1: 15 hours a day driving my yellow cab here in
- 7:34Speaker 1: the city. When I go on vacation, all we do
- 7:36Speaker 1: is just rent a convertible and we drive till the
- 7:38Speaker 1: wheels fall off. That's every year. My poor family, but
- 7:42Speaker 1: they've learned to like it. We crank the music and
- 7:44Speaker 1: just drive around and see stuff.
- 7:46Speaker 3: So to give you an example, I'm not even kidding.
- 7:47Speaker 1: When I was in LA for standup this summer, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: had a gig at the Grove in Anaheim on a Saturday,
- 7:54Speaker 1: but that morning, me and Lincoln got in the car,
- 7:55Speaker 1: drove 300 miles to Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch. How about that? Yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 1: 300 one way, turned around, came back, and we couldn't
- 8:05Speaker 1: get in. Lincoln wasn't cute enough, but there was a time.
- 8:08Speaker 1: There was a time when Michael was around.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He got right in back in the day, but it
- 8:13Speaker 3: was a different time.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Hey, well, Jimmy Fallon's on every night here at WOR.
- 8:17Speaker 2: It's a very funny show, 9 to midnight. People get
- 8:20Speaker 2: addicted to it, 9 to midnight. What are you doing
- 8:22Speaker 2: on tonight's show?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Oh, you know, our buddy Mark Malkoff is coming on. Oh, great.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I'm going to.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Make him talk Kimmel. We got Kennedy. Obviously, Frank Stiller's on.
- 8:33Speaker 1: We got the big Tunnel to Towers event going on tomorrow, 9-11.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And it's going to, I'm just.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Warning you now. Okay. Obviously we have mom Donnie going
- 8:41Speaker 1: to ground zero tomorrow.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 1: He's never been to one of these. He's going to
- 8:44Speaker 1: be really bummed out when he learns there's no moment
- 8:46Speaker 1: of silence for the hijackers. I mean, I hope somebody,
- 8:50Speaker 1: I hope somebody can console this dirt.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Bag when he gets down there.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Wow.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Hey, also make sure you watch his Saturday night TV show.
- 8:57Speaker 2: It's the best late night show on TV. Saturday night's
- 9:00Speaker 2: 10 o'clock and people can come be in the audience, right?
- 9:03Speaker 2: You're going to be taking this.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Tickets are free. FoxAcrossAmerica.com. If you ever want to come
- 9:08Speaker 1: down and check us out, next week we have Pierce
- 9:11Speaker 1: Morgan and.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Chris Hansen from Dateline.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So it's going to be a good one. And you
- 9:16Speaker 1: guys come be in the audience. It's a lot of fun.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so if you want to visit Fox TV, sit
- 9:19Speaker 2: in a studio audience, meet a lot of celebrities, go

- 9:26Speaker 2: listen to Jimmy Fallon tonight on the radio right here,
- 9:29Speaker 2: 9 to midnight. Great stuff. Jimmy Fallon, thanks for being

- 9:34Speaker 1: You're the best, Mark. See you soon, buddy.
- 9:35Speaker 2: All right. Take care. Hey, don't forget, coming up noon today,
- 9:41Speaker 2: Buck and Clay. That's a big show now. It's like

- 9:50Speaker 2: show in America, Sean Hannity at 3. I think he's
- 9:53Speaker 2: live from the convention today in Dallas. Then you got
- 9:57Speaker 2: Jesse Kelly at six. And as I just said, Jimmy Fela,
- 10:01Speaker 2: nine to midnight. Now I'm on every day, nine to noon.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And right before me, the big morning show, it's Curtis Sliwa,
- 10:08Speaker 2: Larry Menti, six to nine, every morning here on 710WOR.
