- 1:56Speaker 3: Diggs for sure. Man, you know, can you tell me
- 1:59Speaker 3: in Atlanta we're going Magical moments happened for sure, you know, investments,
- 2:02Speaker 3: stuff like that happened. So good to be back in
- 2:05Speaker 3: the city and we would in the land of Native.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Yeah, born and raised for sure.
- 2:10Speaker 3: That's a age additud, Yes, somebody that we connected with.
- 2:14Speaker 3: When did we first meet revolt it?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, like four years right, yeah, two?
- 2:20Speaker 2: I think nineteen maybe maybe not probably twenty twenty, maybe
- 2:25Speaker 2: twenty one.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Nah, No, twenty twenty one. I was like, all stage already.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it was before investment us because we already had
- 2:33Speaker 3: that relationship.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Well either way, Yeah, we known each other for some years.
- 2:37Speaker 4: I love them.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Was it? It's been some years.
- 2:41Speaker 3: It's in a minute. So entrepreneur, host, personality, Reality TV star.
- 2:47Speaker 2: It's not first the first ones, right, so you do
- 2:52Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Do a little bit of everything. Yeah, first and foremost,
- 2:55Speaker 3: thank you for joining us. Appreciate it.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I appreciate you guys for having me like this was
- 2:59Speaker 4: I know, we're He was like, okay, Page, we'll put
- 3:01Speaker 4: it in the contract. We'll get you you know.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, everything earned, everything earned.
- 3:08Speaker 4: I really appreciate it though, And you guys have really
- 3:10Speaker 4: what you als have built and like, over the time
- 3:13Speaker 4: that I have known you guys has just been like
- 3:15Speaker 4: incredible to watch so much appreciated, really really proud. Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yeah, So so let's start, like how does it start
- 3:23Speaker 3: for you as far as becoming popular in Atlanta then
- 3:27Speaker 3: kind of hosting events and the entrepreneur, Like where does
- 3:30Speaker 3: this actually all all start?
- 3:33Speaker 4: Truthfully, it starts when I'm in high school, Like you know,
- 3:36Speaker 4: I think being a kid that's born and raised and
- 3:39Speaker 4: having Atlanta. Like being an inner city kid, you kind
- 3:43Speaker 4: of have an experience that no one else has.
- 3:45Speaker 3: What part of Atlanta you're from.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So I'm from like ellen Wood area west of Chapel That's.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Not that's north, that's East, Helpless, Helpless.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Yeah that's easy, okay, But a lot of people be like,
- 3:57Speaker 4: that's none Atlanta, Like it's like a supper Yeah, well
- 4:01Speaker 4: it's a nicer area for sure.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You're a good story to tell too, because you speak
- 4:05Speaker 3: from a point of like you come from a successful family.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, an entrepreneurial, back back background with family members that
- 4:13Speaker 4: truthfully like put their their heart and love into the community,
- 4:18Speaker 4: any community. So my family's from South Carolina, but I
- 4:21Speaker 4: was the only one born in Atlanta.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And your father's is an entrepreneur.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Dentist dentistry of thirty years us and she helped start
- 4:28Speaker 4: his business, which she was like literally like manager, like accountant,
- 4:33Speaker 4: everything whatever you needed, my mom how to do. And
- 4:37Speaker 4: so coming from a family of them, and then also
- 4:40Speaker 4: being in the city of Atlanta. High school was in
- 4:43Speaker 4: North Atlanta, so I was able to go to APS
- 4:45Speaker 4: School which had an IB program International back laureate. So
- 4:48Speaker 4: like we were challenged at an earlier age to like
- 4:51Speaker 4: really push ourselves. And I think that that would like
- 4:56Speaker 4: that really is important because I think people don't talk
- 4:58Speaker 4: about enough in Atlanta, Like when we asked what high
- 5:00Speaker 4: school you went to, it kind of like it's determining
- 5:03Speaker 4: what questions and like things you were exposed to at
- 5:06Speaker 4: a younger age. And so yeah, we've made it our
- 5:09Speaker 4: lives work to like always show like okay, well, like
- 5:11Speaker 4: black excellence doesn't mean you have to come from whatever
- 5:14Speaker 4: you came from. Like let's like show.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Up, show out, And you've seen that every day as
- 5:18Speaker 2: you go home. Are you the kid obviously watching entrepreneurial parents?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Are you the kid there on saturdays? You going to
- 5:25Speaker 2: work at the family business that's growing up for? What
- 5:28Speaker 2: was those experiences like you?
- 5:29Speaker 4: Like, especially when I realized like they're not going to
- 5:33Speaker 4: just be giving us money, like we're not going to
- 5:35Speaker 4: have an allowance, Like it was like, no, y'all gonna
- 5:37Speaker 4: work for everything. My mom comes from humble beginnings. My
- 5:39Speaker 4: father does too. His parents were educators as well. But
- 5:44Speaker 4: you know, I think them coming together and parenting their
- 5:47Speaker 4: parents and style was like what we're not going to
- 5:49Speaker 4: do is make y'all spoil like y'all will not y'all
- 5:51Speaker 4: will know the the balance of hard work and like
- 5:54Speaker 4: earning everything you got, earning your leisure pun intended, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 4: and unders standing that, like you know, it's just everything
- 6:01Speaker 4: in life is not free. It's you gotta you know,
- 6:03Speaker 4: you gotta take it, you know. So yeah, definitely spent
- 6:09Speaker 4: you know, some mornings answering Addison Dental Office, How might
- 6:11Speaker 4: I help you? Still Aisental in Associates? How I help you? Okay,
- 6:14Speaker 4: called holds holds like you know, transfer.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Like you know, So when did you get into hosting?
- 6:20Speaker 4: I got into hosting by seeing my so my dad
- 6:23Speaker 4: his like you know, hobby was to uh have a
- 6:27Speaker 4: dance like I said, I wouldn't say it was a band.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It was like say their performers for the Governor's Ball
- 6:37Speaker 4: or for a hunger you know the Hunger Walk, which
- 6:41Speaker 4: is like benefit walks and stuff. And so him and
- 6:44Speaker 4: his band they would get together. They all had their
- 6:46Speaker 4: own professions. But I would see my dad not just
- 6:50Speaker 4: be one thing, you know what I'm saying, like one
- 6:51Speaker 4: dimensional Black people just don't exist, Like nobody nobody's wanting dimensional.
- 6:54Speaker 4: But like you know, we gonna have a couple of trades,
- 6:57Speaker 4: and so my dad and a couple of other his friends,
- 7:00Speaker 4: you know, one one would play the bass. Actually, my
- 7:04Speaker 4: cousin and Nissa, that's her parents were actually in the
- 7:06Speaker 4: band Brene you know, yeah Soul. We were literally like
- 7:12Speaker 4: kids of performers, so we were able to see them
- 7:16Speaker 4: enjoy themselves, be on stages literally full of thousands of people.
- 7:21Speaker 4: At a young age, should see them entertaining people and
- 7:23Speaker 4: then go and do their lives and just kind of
- 7:26Speaker 4: be and entertaining was always something I made sure I
- 7:30Speaker 4: wanted to do instead of like being like the pretty
- 7:33Speaker 4: girl that's just like okay, yeah, like y'all have my section,
- 7:35Speaker 4: y'all get my bottles. So I realized what I didn't
- 7:38Speaker 4: want to do in college, and so in high school
- 7:41Speaker 4: I always do parties. I always, like from a younger age,
- 7:43Speaker 4: I would perform. I was in a dance studio at
- 7:46Speaker 4: my aunt's, my god mom's dance studio from like I
- 7:48Speaker 4: was like ten every Saturday, from six am to like
- 7:53Speaker 4: five pm, I'm in a studio just dance, tap, jazz, ballet,
- 7:58Speaker 4: all of the things. And so it was always like
- 8:01Speaker 4: a theatrical I was like a lover of the arts.
- 8:05Speaker 4: And so my family being the people that they were like, Okay,
- 8:07Speaker 4: if you have a gift, you will have to like foster,
- 8:10Speaker 4: We're gonna foster it.
- 8:11Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, So even during that, because it sounds
- 8:15Speaker 2: like and knowing you a little bit, it's like entertainment
- 8:18Speaker 2: was the thing.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It was always a thing, right, But you have.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Entrepreneurial parents, right, and so it gets a bit interesting.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It's like, yes, you have this passion and this gift
- 8:27Speaker 2: for entertainment. They're coming from an entrepreneurial of actually building
- 8:31Speaker 2: a business. Where is there conflict there with like, hey,
- 8:34Speaker 2: that's the direction the family is gone. My natural gifts
- 8:37Speaker 2: and God given gifts a leading me this way. Were
- 8:39Speaker 2: you like struggling with that or we like how do
- 8:41Speaker 2: you try to find blends?
- 8:42Speaker 4: So in high school I took a course called the
- 8:46Speaker 4: Dallas Austin Program and that was like after school program, right,
- 8:48Speaker 4: So you know after school programs in the city, you
- 8:51Speaker 4: typically you don't know what you're gonna get, and this
- 8:53Speaker 4: one was like an elevated after school program. We had
- 8:56Speaker 4: mentors that were managing artists, like somebody you know, Brian
- 9:00Speaker 4: Jenning Shout out to Brian Jenning, shout out to Miko Hope.
- 9:02Speaker 4: They were my first mentors. And I'm seventeen, sixteen years
- 9:05Speaker 4: old and being exposed to you know, music artists, music producers,
- 9:10Speaker 4: DJ Scream, DJ spens Jaytoven Shoddy Low, Like I'm meeting
- 9:15Speaker 4: these people in real time with the height of their
- 9:17Speaker 4: careers at like sixteen seventeen, and I realized that what
- 9:21Speaker 4: was great to see was to see that they were
- 9:23Speaker 4: still business people, but they were able to like really
- 9:26Speaker 4: truly be in their creative bag. And I'm like showing
- 9:29Speaker 4: my parents this, and so my parents would say, Okay, well, hey,
- 9:32Speaker 4: they owned that business. Okay, how are they how is
- 9:34Speaker 4: that doing? You know, how are they able to scale that?
- 9:39Speaker 4: And knowing that they see that and then they see
- 9:42Speaker 4: that they're still creatives, they're like, Okay, we can appreciate it.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Because I think for my dad, like I said, it
- 9:48Speaker 4: was always just a lover of the arts, but it
- 9:51Speaker 4: wasn't something that he knew he was going to like
- 9:52Speaker 4: focus on making money from. And I think me I
- 9:56Speaker 4: was just like, Okay, well, I'm about to show y'all,
- 9:58Speaker 4: like we will there's this can be we can make
- 10:01Speaker 4: some money off this, This can be a profit. We're
- 10:03Speaker 4: can make some profit.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Off there, So how do you all right, so how
- 10:05Speaker 3: do you make money? Like, how do you start making
- 10:08Speaker 3: money from hosting?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 10:10Speaker 4: So I started off in college and you know, in Miami.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I went to school in Miami. You kind of realize
- 10:18Speaker 4: everybody's a promoter. But what type of promoter do you
- 10:22Speaker 4: want to be? Right? You want to be the one
- 10:23Speaker 4: that's like, Okay, I don't want to be on South Beach.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I know that there are parties that are going on
- 10:27Speaker 4: down there, but like there's a lot of like I'm
- 10:29Speaker 4: not gonna be just frank drugging. Like I remember one
- 10:32Speaker 4: party there was there was somebody that like roofeed one
- 10:34Speaker 4: of my like champagne bottles, and like I threw up
- 10:36Speaker 4: this guy's head. It was like a crazy story, and
- 10:39Speaker 4: I was like what is going on? Like I'm like
- 10:41Speaker 4: fresh out of high school. I had never even had
- 10:43Speaker 4: a college like experience like this before. So I was like,
- 10:47Speaker 4: all right, I don't want to be down there. I
- 10:50Speaker 4: want to be where the people are that are just
- 10:51Speaker 4: being authentic to themselves, enjoying themselves, showing up as themselves,
- 10:56Speaker 4: have a background of understanding that like we want to
- 10:58Speaker 4: have a safe, good time. So like we want to
- 11:01Speaker 4: be somewhere exclusive. How do you become that person? Okay,
- 11:04Speaker 4: well be in those places and then enjoy the shit
- 11:07Speaker 4: out of yourself. Like I saw a video of Denzel
- 11:11Speaker 4: telling Snoop, I enjoy how you enjoy life, and like,
- 11:14Speaker 4: I love that because being that person that is enjoying
- 11:17Speaker 4: themselves in every place that they're in, whether everybody else
- 11:20Speaker 4: having a good time or not, it's you gonna stand out.
- 11:24Speaker 4: And so I would always say, Okay, well I'm allowed
- 11:27Speaker 4: to be here, y'all want to pull up over here,
- 11:29Speaker 4: talk with the person that's doing something I want to
- 11:31Speaker 4: I started curation at a younger age because I'd already
- 11:35Speaker 4: been doing it in high school. And I'm like, okay,
- 11:36Speaker 4: we having a house party, pull up. But to be
- 11:39Speaker 4: able to monetize, I'm like, okay, well let me go.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Let me go get the sponsors that are that are
- 11:44Speaker 4: going to be there that would give us free drinks,
- 11:46Speaker 4: or let me reach out to some people that are
- 11:48Speaker 4: you know, have some some you know, some rank in
- 11:51Speaker 4: the city and that would pull up with some good people,
- 11:53Speaker 4: not some people that's like who are these folks? Like
- 11:55Speaker 4: why did you bring these folks up in here? And
- 11:58Speaker 4: then you know, also like bring the environment that like,
- 12:02Speaker 4: you know, you're going to have a good time, get
- 12:05Speaker 4: a good DJ. The music is always right, you know,
- 12:07Speaker 4: and so curating the vibes and then it would just
- 12:11Speaker 4: be some you know, it would start off like five hundred,
- 12:13Speaker 4: you know, Okay, cool, all right, well Page, if you
- 12:15Speaker 4: can do two fifty for you know this, and then
- 12:19Speaker 4: I'll give you a shot at having somebody there that
- 12:22Speaker 4: you know, you you rock with. So I would have
- 12:25Speaker 4: started managing an artist shortly after high school, I started
- 12:29Speaker 4: managing a producer, you know, so I have something to
- 12:31Speaker 4: leverage that they would want somebody there. But I'm also
- 12:34Speaker 4: using those people for leverage too, like Okay, hey, this
- 12:38Speaker 4: person's trying to get out, can you give me a
- 12:41Speaker 4: cheaper price to host? But I put this person on
- 12:43Speaker 4: the platform. So I always utilize my my platforms to
- 12:47Speaker 4: put somebody else up, and it will always kind of
- 12:49Speaker 4: it was consistent. I was always consistent.
- 12:51Speaker 2: That was happening in Miami, that was happening here in
- 12:53Speaker 2: Miami Atlanta.
- 12:54Speaker 4: I would actually I was in college. This is crazy
- 12:57Speaker 4: to say, but I was in college and I was
- 12:59Speaker 4: repping because I started with PR like right out of
- 13:04Speaker 4: high school and I was repping a producer named Jimbo's Lights.
- 13:09Speaker 4: He went to high school with me, and I was
- 13:13Speaker 4: in college and he was doing sessions with the Remedy
- 13:16Speaker 4: with Done Deal and people, and like you know, I
- 13:20Speaker 4: was set it up. He would be with the future
- 13:22Speaker 4: all those people. And I'm like getting calls while in
- 13:25Speaker 4: the well my Way to Finite math class and they're like, hey,
- 13:29Speaker 4: so this session didn't go too well, or this session
- 13:32Speaker 4: went great, or they're trying to get this placement, all
- 13:34Speaker 4: these things, and so it was something that like I
- 13:37Speaker 4: didn't know I was doing that was ahead of my time,
- 13:40Speaker 4: kind of because I was kind of growing as I grow.
- 13:42Speaker 4: But I knew that I had the background because in
- 13:45Speaker 4: the Dallas Austin program, you had to learn the business
- 13:48Speaker 4: ins and outs. Whether you wanted to sing, whether you
- 13:50Speaker 4: want to do pr, whether you want to do management,
- 13:52Speaker 4: whether you want to produce, you had to learn the business.
- 13:54Speaker 4: And so because I started off as an artist and
- 13:57Speaker 4: was like I want to sing too, just like my daddy,
- 13:59Speaker 4: and found out that the money wasn't going really add
- 14:01Speaker 4: up unless I worked overly, overly overtime, and I just
- 14:04Speaker 4: enjoyed it. I was like no, I have to find
- 14:06Speaker 4: another way to entertain.
- 14:08Speaker 2: At some point, does it become too much like trying
- 14:10Speaker 2: to juggle the management side and everything you got going
- 14:14Speaker 2: on outside of school and trying to figure out.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Yes, it actually did, do you finish school?
- 14:19Speaker 4: It literally like blew up in my face. Like I
- 14:21Speaker 4: remember one day and he was like, yo, uh shot
- 14:25Speaker 4: it because he was a white producer, and they were like, Yo,
- 14:27Speaker 4: it's just not gonna work. Like I don't know what's
- 14:29Speaker 4: going on, but it's not gonna work. And I was like, no,
- 14:31Speaker 4: like things are gonna things will be fine, like and
- 14:34Speaker 4: they were like, nah, like we're gonna have to rescale,
- 14:37Speaker 4: We're gonna have to re redo this whole infrastructure. And
- 14:40Speaker 4: I was like, all right, well, honestly, I can't continue
- 14:43Speaker 4: with you guys without the person that I brought in,
- 14:45Speaker 4: So I'm gonna just you know, bow out, and I'm
- 14:47Speaker 4: gonna just figure out what I need to do from
- 14:49Speaker 4: after college. So I like, really after that, after I
- 14:52Speaker 4: had too many ties still in Atlanta, scared to be
- 14:55Speaker 4: fully in Miami, I was like, Okay, let me really
- 14:57Speaker 4: engulf something here. So I started art curation, started, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 4: working with the GMCV for Internship, which is the people
- 15:04Speaker 4: that the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. So they
- 15:07Speaker 4: bring in Miami Spice Week, they bring in Art Basil.
- 15:10Speaker 4: They had a Black Hospitality initiative that brought in the
- 15:14Speaker 4: first Black Art Basil where the black artists were you know,
- 15:17Speaker 4: really put on a platform and give given the right
- 15:21Speaker 4: pedestal that they needed they deserved. And so you know,
- 15:25Speaker 4: being the person that was working with the only black
- 15:28Speaker 4: contemporary gallery owners, they're you know, trying to make sure
- 15:31Speaker 4: I'm in that space fully, not just trying to be
- 15:34Speaker 4: in Atlanta trying to do this. You know, have a
- 15:36Speaker 4: little wool people make a little couple of change off
- 15:38Speaker 4: placement that wouldn't get to me for like who knows
- 15:41Speaker 4: how long. So you know, I would always have my
- 15:44Speaker 4: hand in and out of the music industry, and I
- 15:45Speaker 4: was like, find a way to have it be fully
- 15:49Speaker 4: immersed in that space that you're in and staying present
- 15:53Speaker 4: in it. So that's where we kind of so.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Like you do big events right like he hosted Revolt
- 15:59Speaker 3: some and in costs invest Fest. Yeah every year actually
- 16:03Speaker 3: for invest Fest, so major part of that because that's
- 16:06Speaker 3: something that people don't really realize that you know, that's
- 16:09Speaker 3: an important aspect from start to finish and curating the vibe,
- 16:12Speaker 3: keeping the crowd engaged, knowing how to transition from speakers
- 16:16Speaker 3: bringing the crowd back out to lunch. So A, can
- 16:20Speaker 3: you speak about the art of that, because it is
- 16:23Speaker 3: something that you it is a talent, and b how
- 16:27Speaker 3: what's the business like for that? Like as far as
- 16:29Speaker 3: are you negotiating like a writer, do you have like
- 16:32Speaker 3: you know, on that level of an investmentest of a
- 16:35Speaker 3: revolt something like what's the business for that?
- 16:38Speaker 4: I kind of took over the understanding that I had
- 16:42Speaker 4: a gift that I had to understand with niche right,
- 16:46Speaker 4: like nobody can do what I do like how I
- 16:48Speaker 4: do it? No one can. And you know, I think
- 16:50Speaker 4: one time someone once told me, like all you doing
- 16:52Speaker 4: is going up there and introduct docing people, and I
- 16:54Speaker 4: was like, no, it is an art form. People have
- 16:56Speaker 4: to truly trust that what you're about to say with
- 16:59Speaker 4: that mic and understanding that the power that of your voice,
- 17:03Speaker 4: it holds weight, it has value, It brings value to
- 17:05Speaker 4: every room you step into. And I think when you know,
- 17:08Speaker 4: having platforms giving like Revolt Summit or I think even
- 17:12Speaker 4: further back like you know, at and T came here
- 17:15Speaker 4: for four or four day. I was my first big
- 17:17Speaker 4: check like ten recks just off of being me like
- 17:20Speaker 4: and that was twenty eighteen, twenty seventeen, and I was
- 17:24Speaker 4: just like, okay, like this is how, this is what
- 17:27Speaker 4: I deserve. But I had just come from doing seven
- 17:29Speaker 4: fifty an hour or something's really small. Just to be
- 17:34Speaker 4: host to host for an eight hour event or something.
- 17:37Speaker 4: It's something crazy, and I realized. I was like, this
- 17:41Speaker 4: is how you bring over your your managerial things that
- 17:45Speaker 4: you help or you're consulting that you help with other people,
- 17:49Speaker 4: to over to your you know, to your to yourself,
- 17:52Speaker 4: you know, let people know. Okay, yeah, so I do
- 17:55Speaker 4: need a writer. I do need these things to feel
- 17:57Speaker 4: comfortable to be myself in these spaces, right. I need
- 18:00Speaker 4: all of the materials that you guys are going to
- 18:03Speaker 4: want me to say right before y'all get up. I
- 18:06Speaker 4: need to know how to do improv. Like there might
- 18:09Speaker 4: be a moment there y'all they're like page stall. There's
- 18:11Speaker 4: literally been moments that y'all have been like, hey, so
- 18:15Speaker 4: Seanny not here yet, we need to go ahead and
- 18:17Speaker 4: run it. And it's like all right, cool, Let's do something.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Let's do something fun. Let's make people get up out
- 18:22Speaker 4: of their seats. Let's let them make sure they're enjoying
- 18:23Speaker 4: their time. And understanding that a party host and somebody
- 18:28Speaker 4: that's in the club host may not be able to
- 18:31Speaker 4: host in front of a crowd for a conference, and
- 18:34Speaker 4: understanding how to be both right, understanding how to be
- 18:38Speaker 4: who that is in every setting. So yeah, I've realized that.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, if you guys are going to
- 18:45Speaker 4: continue to bring me back, there has to be something
- 18:47Speaker 4: that I do to continue to build make my craft better. Right,
- 18:53Speaker 4: So I would study the greats, like I'm studying I'm
- 18:55Speaker 4: talking with Terrence, I'm watching how you know Steve when
- 19:00Speaker 4: he walks out, He's cracking a joke like make sure
- 19:03Speaker 4: the room doesn't feel too stuffy, Like why why are
- 19:06Speaker 4: we We're not curing cancer. We're genuinely here to enjoy
- 19:10Speaker 4: our lives and learn something in every room and every
- 19:13Speaker 4: day we need to feel like we're learning something new.
- 19:15Speaker 4: And so you know, when I go up there and
- 19:17Speaker 4: I give you know, I'm not a motivational speaker, but
- 19:19Speaker 4: I say I release the pattern of my consciousness that
- 19:22Speaker 4: creates resistance to my own good. Why are we here?
- 19:26Speaker 4: We're releasing some type of pattern that someone had probably
- 19:28Speaker 4: put on us to unlearn to just grow, Like that's
- 19:32Speaker 4: what we're all here for. We're all in perpetual state
- 19:34Speaker 4: of just trying to figure out, like what's the next
- 19:36Speaker 4: thing we want to grow in and do better. So
- 19:39Speaker 4: I just realized, like staying being consistent as my personality
- 19:43Speaker 4: one showing up as myself period, Like y'all having a
- 19:48Speaker 4: bad day. Dad ain't gotten nothing to do with me,
- 19:50Speaker 4: That's not my problem. Like, I just really got to
- 19:53Speaker 4: show up as me, making sure that people respect me,
- 19:57Speaker 4: like understanding that, like I'm not just like okay, yes, bad,
- 20:00Speaker 4: but like is she by her business? Always never not
- 20:04Speaker 4: been about my business. My mother's name is Sharon. She
- 20:07Speaker 4: do not play, She don't play about the people around me.
- 20:10Speaker 4: She asks questions. She makes sure I ask questions, And
- 20:13Speaker 4: so I think that's always been the thing. And also
- 20:15Speaker 4: remembering that you know, people will treat you and give
- 20:19Speaker 4: you what you think you deserve. Right, so if you're like, oh, okay,
- 20:24Speaker 4: well yeah that's fine, y'all. Can just y'all got no
- 20:26Speaker 4: greening room? That's fine, Okay, cool, y'all, got no greening room.
- 20:30Speaker 4: That's fine, but just know it might be a little
- 20:32Speaker 4: hectic if you don't have that, Like you're gonna keep
- 20:34Speaker 4: seeing me, You're gonna be like, damn, why page this
- 20:36Speaker 4: page everywhere? Because I'll have a greaming room. And so
- 20:39Speaker 4: I think there have been things that I've wanted, I've learned,
- 20:43Speaker 4: and what I need to ask more of, and what
- 20:45Speaker 4: I see when people are growing that I want to
- 20:47Speaker 4: give the grace. You know what I'm saying. I'm like, Okay, y'all,
- 20:49Speaker 4: y'all don't have access to that yet or y'all haven't
- 20:52Speaker 4: figured out what that looks like. And you have to
- 20:54Speaker 4: be able to be the person to be like, Okay,
- 20:57Speaker 4: I know you didn't ask for this advice, but this
- 20:58Speaker 4: helps me help you better. And so I'm going to
- 21:00Speaker 4: pour that into you before I pour it into you
- 21:04Speaker 4: in a way of like, hey, y'all got me messed up,
- 21:07Speaker 4: Like I ain't about to be doing this with y'all
- 21:09Speaker 4: no more. Relationships are so important. I don't play about it.
- 21:12Speaker 4: I don't play about the people that rock with me.
- 21:15Speaker 4: So you know, why why treat it like it's just nothing?
- 21:19Speaker 4: You know, treat it like it's something that's a baby.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Everything you do is a baby. It's got to be fostered.
- 21:24Speaker 2: To talk talk about the growth, right, because obviously you've
- 21:28Speaker 2: been a vital part of investments and we appreciate everything
- 21:32Speaker 2: you've done.
- 21:32Speaker 1: But as you've come back every year, we've seen the
- 21:35Speaker 1: growth in you. Right.
- 21:36Speaker 2: We've seen that that you know, understanding your worth, and
- 21:40Speaker 2: we've also seen building a team around you. Right, So
- 21:43Speaker 2: talk about that because you come from a viewpoint of
- 21:47Speaker 2: yes you can. You've managed people, but now you yourself,
- 21:50Speaker 2: right with now establishing new gigs and new opportunities, you
- 21:56Speaker 2: have somebody in place to say, all right, I need help,
- 21:58Speaker 2: I need to be managed.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think I remember the day that that
- 22:02Speaker 4: happened because I was actually managing an artist and Nila
- 22:07Speaker 4: at the time, and my mentor told me I could,
- 22:09Speaker 4: Like she was like, yeah, you can. Excuse me, she
- 22:11Speaker 4: was like you can, you can do this, And I
- 22:13Speaker 4: was like, wait, no, no, Like I'm just fresh out
- 22:15Speaker 4: of college. I don't know what to do, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 4: I just did you know Revolt Summit, Well that was
- 22:20Speaker 4: Revolt Conference at the time, and they had me on
- 22:22Speaker 4: board as like a travel coordinator with help underneath somebody
- 22:26Speaker 4: that was like in the ranks, and I remember Andre
- 22:28Speaker 4: Herrell coming to me, but I like, yo, listen, I
- 22:31Speaker 4: have to use this person for something else. I need
- 22:33Speaker 4: you to genuinely take over and just handle this. And
- 22:38Speaker 4: I was like, okay, there's five hundred talent here, there's
- 22:42Speaker 4: CARDI B wants a car to go to the mall. Uh,
- 22:45Speaker 4: these drivers were supposed to be only for this time
- 22:47Speaker 4: and this night. How do I make sure? How do
- 22:50Speaker 4: I manage this? And I'm like, you got to You
- 22:54Speaker 4: got to make sure that people know that you know
- 22:56Speaker 4: what you're doing. And so you just have to trial
- 22:59Speaker 4: and error, right, So I trialed an errored half of
- 23:03Speaker 4: my career because I'm like, Okay, no one's going to
- 23:05Speaker 4: be able to say like she didn't try, you know,
- 23:08Speaker 4: if I failed, And like I mean, it was most
- 23:10Speaker 4: likely just a lesson. And for the most part, it
- 23:14Speaker 4: came so quick. When it would be something I needed
- 23:17Speaker 4: to learn, it'd be like, Okay, cool, don't do that.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Got you no hard feelings, no no if fans, But
- 23:23Speaker 4: about it. You know, you could have done this, but
- 23:25Speaker 4: you didn't. What did you take away from it? Move on?
- 23:28Speaker 4: And so after I realized, you know, managing an artist
- 23:33Speaker 4: and me hosting and me leveraging my personality to be
- 23:37Speaker 4: on the stages and being like, oh, you know, I
- 23:39Speaker 4: want to put my artist on here, but you guys
- 23:42Speaker 4: can give me cheaper. You guys can pay me like
- 23:44Speaker 4: less if I can put my artists on here. And
- 23:46Speaker 4: they were like, okay, cool, So what's your artists do?
- 23:51Speaker 4: Like what were supposed to be doing with this? And
- 23:52Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, this might be I might be
- 23:56Speaker 4: getting ahead of myself. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 23:57Speaker 4: how am I taking care of myself first? And then
- 24:00Speaker 4: bringing the people up that deserve to come up with me?
- 24:03Speaker 4: And so that's when I kind of realized. I was like,
- 24:05Speaker 4: I need more, I need more advice help. It just
- 24:08Speaker 4: started off going to mentors, going to people that were
- 24:10Speaker 4: like and I would go to people and they'd be like,
- 24:12Speaker 4: you don't need a manager. You got this, You've got this,
- 24:15Speaker 4: And I'm like, no, I'm literally I need help. I
- 24:18Speaker 4: don't know what to write back in the emails. But
- 24:20Speaker 4: I would use my knowledge for my mom and in
- 24:23Speaker 4: my dad's dentistry, you know, and like being like, okay,
- 24:25Speaker 4: you know you know how to type an email structure?
- 24:29Speaker 4: You know, you know how to say hello, Hi, what's
- 24:32Speaker 4: his name? Calma? You know you know what to say,
- 24:34Speaker 4: but how do you keep the conversation going to where
- 24:36Speaker 4: it grows into something else? And I think basically I
- 24:40Speaker 4: would just go to people every year just asking, Hey,
- 24:43Speaker 4: some little piece of advice that I can get from you.
- 24:46Speaker 4: I would interview people on my platform. I would you know,
- 24:50Speaker 4: ask I would call them up and just be like, okay, quick,
- 24:53Speaker 4: this person's asking me if I can do this for
- 24:55Speaker 4: this what would you say? That would be it? And
- 24:58Speaker 4: then it was like, okay, I need someone behind me.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Who is that person? Going to be trial and error?
- 25:05Speaker 4: Some people I would do ninety day trials with. Some
- 25:07Speaker 4: people I would do thirty day trials with. Currently I'm
- 25:10Speaker 4: not managed by anyone. I did a ninety day trial.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I realize, Okay, there are more things I need to
- 25:15Speaker 4: be asking for and I need to know what to ask.
- 25:20Speaker 4: And I think that's where I'm at, in that space
- 25:22Speaker 4: of like wanting representation and knowing what representation looks like
- 25:26Speaker 4: to me and knowing that, like when you walk in
- 25:28Speaker 4: a room and I walk in a room, okay, we
- 25:31Speaker 4: might not be walking hands out side by side or
- 25:33Speaker 4: anything but we're like on a mission in here. We are.
- 25:37Speaker 4: We understand, we eat what we kill, we understand. You know,
- 25:41Speaker 4: whatever comes back to us is something that we really
- 25:44Speaker 4: went forward and like built a relationship and said okay,
- 25:47Speaker 4: we'll follow up, and actually followed up, you know. So yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 4: I think that's It's been a tough It's been a
- 25:54Speaker 4: tough journey with managers and just representation because I think
- 25:58Speaker 4: I I've done a good I made it look easy.
- 26:02Speaker 4: I've done it a little too easy with making it
- 26:04Speaker 4: look easy that Okay, I got this gig over here,
- 26:08Speaker 4: How did you get that? Who set that up for you?
- 26:11Speaker 4: They text me, they DM me, MTV. Yeah, I mean
- 26:15Speaker 4: they reached out to my friend through D Like, you know,
- 26:17Speaker 4: there are certain things that just I can't explain it.
- 26:20Speaker 4: It's favor ain't fair to everybody. But I do know
- 26:27Speaker 4: that there are certain things that I'm like, I'm waiting
- 26:29Speaker 4: for that person to walk into a room and be
- 26:31Speaker 4: like Okay, yeah, page, like I got this for you.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I'm like, what I sealed the deal?
- 26:38Speaker 3: So talk about PSA, Like, what's how did that come about?
- 26:42Speaker 1: And what does that entail?
- 26:43Speaker 4: Well, my initials are paid Sri Addison and when I
- 26:46Speaker 4: was a kid and I realized what initials I had.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I was like, I should be a rapper with this.
- 26:52Speaker 4: It was like PSA, it's a PSA coming to you
- 26:54Speaker 4: always no, And then I realized I was like, okay, no,
- 26:57Speaker 4: so public servicenouncement. I was doing PR. I you know,
- 27:02Speaker 4: my name is my page threeatist and how do you
- 27:04Speaker 4: make it feel like everything you do as a public
- 27:06Speaker 4: service announcement? And so I foster. I just like I
- 27:12Speaker 4: really got down on my knees and prayed about it.
- 27:15Speaker 4: I'm not gonna lie, you know. I was like, what
- 27:17Speaker 4: do I need to uh show up? As with PSA one?
- 27:24Speaker 4: People have been getting over on me for years of
- 27:26Speaker 4: connections and I would always be like, you're not getting
- 27:29Speaker 4: over my stuff. Don't come back like my blesseds always
- 27:33Speaker 4: come back. But then it was like nah, like you
- 27:36Speaker 4: need to have a consulting fee, you need to have
- 27:39Speaker 4: a you know, a business. And so I started that
- 27:40Speaker 4: in twenty seventeen right out of college. Was just like, okay,
- 27:44Speaker 4: what does this look like? You know, you offer PR services,
- 27:47Speaker 4: you offer a PR press list, you know, for your
- 27:49Speaker 4: for the people's companies, you offer you know, services for
- 27:54Speaker 4: I mean and in lack of better words, you know,
- 27:57Speaker 4: brand management. You know, I did brand management for good
- 28:00Speaker 4: Dope right out of college. I mean college. Shoot, they
- 28:03Speaker 4: like there were so many things that I was just
- 28:05Speaker 4: growing in and trying to do that that would add
- 28:07Speaker 4: onto the list of what I'm able to do, right
- 28:10Speaker 4: because as an entrepreneur you kind of have to be
- 28:12Speaker 4: a jack of all trades. So when I realized I
- 28:15Speaker 4: can monetize it, I was like, Okay, let me at
- 28:16Speaker 4: least monetize it with a proper name. So PSA Management
- 28:20Speaker 4: and Consulting. You know, we've been doing what we can
- 28:24Speaker 4: for different companies that a lot of people just don't know.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Like a lot of people were like, oh, she just
- 28:28Speaker 4: do hosting, Oh she just do you know she does
- 28:29Speaker 4: pr from time to time. It's like, no, I actually
- 28:31Speaker 4: have a fee in a website and accoulendly for you
- 28:34Speaker 4: to set up a meeting with me.
- 28:36Speaker 1: You know, like it's a real business.
- 28:38Speaker 4: It's real business around here. And I had a godmom
- 28:41Speaker 4: that was you know, she family. My family's always been
- 28:45Speaker 4: a full of like boss women right that like implemented things.
- 28:49Speaker 4: I mean literally, my godmom she implemented the first into
- 28:55Speaker 4: into Ebenezer Baptist Church. Right. She was the first one
- 28:59Speaker 4: to implement a system to be able to have the
- 29:03Speaker 4: stream live stream, like the sermons live stream, even set
- 29:07Speaker 4: help set out their website, like you know things like
- 29:09Speaker 4: that where it's just like there's someone behind the scenes
- 29:12Speaker 4: that's helping these people.
- 29:13Speaker 3: So from a consultant standpoint, what have you done for
- 29:16Speaker 3: businesses or what do you see businesses make mistakes in
- 29:19Speaker 3: like as far as like.
- 29:20Speaker 4: How do you not going trying to find I was
- 29:22Speaker 4: talking to somebody yesterday. I've seen I've helped their businesses
- 29:27Speaker 4: grow by brand management usually, So I'm like, okay, well
- 29:31Speaker 4: that just doesn't make sense. Why would you have somebody
- 29:34Speaker 4: in the building that you feel, can you know, it's
- 29:37Speaker 4: really good at this thing, but right now you don't
- 29:39Speaker 4: need them in that area right now, so you just
- 29:41Speaker 4: decide to put them on something else. No, you need
- 29:43Speaker 4: to have somebody that is actually like literally a genius
- 29:49Speaker 4: at what they do, a wiz at what they do,
- 29:51Speaker 4: and then bring them on board and then have them
- 29:54Speaker 4: on that thing so that that thing can be exactly
- 29:57Speaker 4: what helps y'all scale. I think people just the common
- 30:00Speaker 4: mistakes of being like oh yeah, like oh yeah, so
- 30:02Speaker 4: you can go out. You know, everybody needs to do everything.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Everybody needs to like, you know, how to shoot, right, Okay,
- 30:08Speaker 4: well let's let's do that. And that can be a
- 30:10Speaker 4: thing for until a certain point, Like you know, Kendrick
- 30:15Speaker 4: just dropped his album today. He says, day Free was
- 30:17Speaker 4: doing his DJ and his managing. You know, he was
- 30:20Speaker 4: helping shoot like the video, like all these things. But like,
- 30:23Speaker 4: what do you until you get to a certain point
- 30:25Speaker 4: that's cool, and then you need to go find the
- 30:27Speaker 4: people that really do that at the best of their
- 30:30Speaker 4: ability and make that their life's work and bring them
- 30:33Speaker 4: on board. And then that's how you continue to grow,
- 30:36Speaker 4: you know. So that's that was my logic. I would
- 30:38Speaker 4: come in with, I think a logic that was kind
- 30:39Speaker 4: of like why would you do that? Now? When it
- 30:42Speaker 4: came to other people's stuff, it's always like, yeah, it's easy,
- 30:45Speaker 4: you know, And then when it comes to your stuff,
- 30:46Speaker 4: you're like, oh my god, it's so much scatter brained
- 30:49Speaker 4: and you know, it can't. It doesn't feel so easy then,
- 30:53Speaker 4: And so I try not to be a hypocrite about it.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I try to be very like understanding and graceful when
- 30:58Speaker 4: I have clients or people that come to me for
- 31:00Speaker 4: genuine advice. But at the same time, I'm like, okay,
- 31:04Speaker 4: like make sure you understand that this advice that I'm
- 31:07Speaker 4: going to give you, if you don't take it, it's
- 31:09Speaker 4: not something I'm going to take it for, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 4: for granted, but I do still need my check, I.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Mean my check.
- 31:14Speaker 2: So I mean you talked about running your check, you
- 31:15Speaker 2: talked about getting monetized pop up pop ups pop I mean,
- 31:19Speaker 2: I wonder because there's a conversation we've never even had,
- 31:22Speaker 2: even as some of our dentists.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yeah, how are you at managing the money? Right?
- 31:28Speaker 2: Because it's one thing to get the money, Yes, it's
- 31:31Speaker 2: another thing people tell you to invest, and obviously we'll
- 31:33Speaker 2: get into some of the businesses that you started, but like,
- 31:36Speaker 2: manage your money is not the easiest thing, and that
- 31:39Speaker 2: people get lost in that, right They think I got
- 31:41Speaker 2: to make it.
- 31:41Speaker 1: I gotta make it. But it can go as quickly
- 31:43Speaker 1: as it came.
- 31:44Speaker 2: So how are you when you started getting that money
- 31:47Speaker 2: like that at and T ten thousand dollars check coming
- 31:50Speaker 2: out of high school? I already know how I'm thinking
- 31:52Speaker 2: about it right at that age, And obviously as you
- 31:54Speaker 2: grow and mature, the checks start getting a little bit bigger.
- 31:56Speaker 1: How are you dealing with that?
- 31:59Speaker 4: Honestly, I go to all of the women in my
- 32:03Speaker 4: family and usually and the women are the ones that
- 32:07Speaker 4: truly I mean and the men, but like the women
- 32:09Speaker 4: I see always know how to save. My mom was
- 32:12Speaker 4: always a person that was a stickler like of like saving, right,
- 32:14Speaker 4: Like you want to save, but you also want to invest.
- 32:17Speaker 4: That was my aunt. Right. So my sister she like
- 32:23Speaker 4: has a I don't know if you guys have read
- 32:25Speaker 4: her book and have the children's book on financial literacy,
- 32:29Speaker 4: but we always knew that investing was something that was
- 32:32Speaker 4: the most important when we had our money, right, And
- 32:35Speaker 4: so you know, saving it is one thing. But go
- 32:39Speaker 4: into my mom and my sister and them saying, hey,
- 32:41Speaker 4: we're about to get this property or this land and
- 32:45Speaker 4: blah blah blah, what are where are we gonna what
- 32:47Speaker 4: are we going to do with it? Well, we'll have
- 32:49Speaker 4: it just for when we're ready to cultivate, you know,
- 32:52Speaker 4: and build it up. And it's like, okay, cool, all right.
- 32:55Speaker 4: I might not know why, but I know it'll be
- 32:58Speaker 4: something that comes in handy at one point, right, And
- 33:00Speaker 4: I think trusting the mentors and the wisdom of people
- 33:04Speaker 4: that have come before you and why and how their
- 33:06Speaker 4: lives have been able to be And you watch the people, right,
- 33:09Speaker 4: you watch what they do with their money. You watch
- 33:10Speaker 4: how certain people, you know, I'm like, for lack of
- 33:15Speaker 4: better words, f it off. You know, you like see
- 33:17Speaker 4: how like they treat you know, they're like, oh, okay,
- 33:19Speaker 4: that's fun. You know car got wrecked, We'll get another one.
- 33:23Speaker 4: It's like what, No, Like, why didn't you just drive
- 33:27Speaker 4: around in the whip with the house, you know, but
- 33:31Speaker 4: you chose to go get the necklace or this. You know,
- 33:34Speaker 4: it just wasn't I watched how people manage their money first,
- 33:37Speaker 4: and then I will go to there for them advice,
- 33:39Speaker 4: you know. And so when we started our financial group
- 33:44Speaker 4: of our family, and like twenty twenty, my sister was
- 33:46Speaker 4: kind of just like, okay, like she was mad about
- 33:49Speaker 4: the Apple split. She was like it. She was just pissed,
- 33:52Speaker 4: and she was like, we need to start a family
- 33:54Speaker 4: investment group. And so, you know, I wasn't always involved
- 34:00Speaker 4: in it because I always was like, I trust what
- 34:02Speaker 4: y'all tell me what to do with my money, So
- 34:04Speaker 4: I'm just gonna save it. And then whenever y'all tell
- 34:06Speaker 4: me for the next move, I'm gonna just move it.
- 34:08Speaker 4: And so we started a group called the PF I
- 34:12Speaker 4: S and it was the investment club that we started
- 34:17Speaker 4: for our family. And we've grown our portfolio like thirty
- 34:21Speaker 4: two percent since we started. Would you start twenty twenty?
- 34:25Speaker 3: So what do you invest in?
- 34:29Speaker 4: You know, I'll say yes since, but I will say
- 34:35Speaker 4: the video has been one that we've been hearing about since.
- 34:39Speaker 4: You know, I guess what was that twenty twenty one,
- 34:44Speaker 4: and I've been you know, I've just been like, all right, cool,
- 34:47Speaker 4: send one hundred dollars every month. We you know, we
- 34:50Speaker 4: have our annual meetings. We have people in place where
- 34:53Speaker 4: we have you know, uh, somebody's a treasury someone try
- 34:58Speaker 4: a treasurer, someone's the secretary, my mom might be the
- 35:01Speaker 4: president of it, my aunt, you know, and it's it's
- 35:03Speaker 4: just so beautiful to watch because we actually had a
- 35:07Speaker 4: video go viral where my cousin Whitney posted it. Well,
- 35:12Speaker 4: you know, we had our annual meeting this this past September,
- 35:15Speaker 4: and I was just I wasn't even there, but I
- 35:18Speaker 4: was like I had been on zoom because we do
- 35:20Speaker 4: a call in and next thing, you know, it's it's
- 35:23Speaker 4: on like all these black love pages on this going
- 35:26Speaker 4: viral and they're like, oh, I wish I want to
- 35:28Speaker 4: be a part of that family, or how do I
- 35:29Speaker 4: get how do I get started? And everything, and I'm
- 35:31Speaker 4: just like, literally, it's all about organization, you know, like
- 35:35Speaker 4: honestly trusting the people that you and you know, everybody's
- 35:39Speaker 4: blood you know, doesn't make them closer, but trusting the
- 35:43Speaker 4: people that you put around you, trusting that their knowledge
- 35:46Speaker 4: and their wisdom that they went to school for or
- 35:48Speaker 4: learned was truly something that could help you.
- 35:52Speaker 3: So break break this whole thing down. How many people's involved,
- 35:55Speaker 3: what's the procedure, how.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Do you decide to see?
- 35:58Speaker 4: And then honestly, I'm not even gonna capu it. I
- 36:01Speaker 4: only know that that we started with probably like ten, no,
- 36:06Speaker 4: maybe like fifteen of twenty of us, and it's just.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Grown all family members.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Yeah, on my mom's side and everybody.
- 36:13Speaker 1: You have to put money in, Yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 4: You definitely have to put money in every month.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Every the same amount of different people put you could.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Put one hundred dollars every month. That's the threshold. And yeah,
- 36:24Speaker 4: I mean it's definitely I don't want to get into
- 36:27Speaker 4: into it because I'm not the most you know, knowledgeable
- 36:30Speaker 4: on it. I just know I trust my family. I
- 36:33Speaker 4: know I've seen what we're doing with the money. I
- 36:35Speaker 4: see what is going on. I'm like, all right, cool,
- 36:37Speaker 4: I gotta you know. And then I have my own
- 36:39Speaker 4: portfolio and you know, and I think, you know, it's
- 36:42Speaker 4: so funny because I had just set up my wrath
- 36:45Speaker 4: LRA with Fidelity the day the day before I investments,
- 36:49Speaker 4: and I was like, oh my god. I was like, ah,
- 36:51Speaker 4: my mom, she helped me. She had some she had
- 36:55Speaker 4: some money set away from like my parents had helped
- 36:58Speaker 4: set up a trust that had been you know, there
- 37:04Speaker 4: for a long time. And she had been telling me,
- 37:05Speaker 4: because my mom is the mom that's like, I'm a
- 37:08Speaker 4: repeat that you need to do this, and you'll hear it.
- 37:11Speaker 4: And even to my boyfriend, like to my family boyfriend,
- 37:13Speaker 4: anybody that knows me knows that, Like she's the lovable person.
- 37:18Speaker 4: But once she gives you that advice, she's not going
- 37:20Speaker 4: to come up off it. She's telling you it for
- 37:22Speaker 4: a reason. And when people start listening to the people
- 37:25Speaker 4: around them that truly love and support and pour into
- 37:28Speaker 4: them and know and have actual knowledge like my mom was.
- 37:31Speaker 4: She was like one of the first black people like
- 37:35Speaker 4: in the corporate world and Bank of America when I
- 37:37Speaker 4: was like before I was even born. And you know,
- 37:41Speaker 4: I mean the women, like I said, the women around
- 37:44Speaker 4: me have lots of knowledge. The men around me have
- 37:47Speaker 4: lots of knowledge and wisdom. So why don't you use
- 37:50Speaker 4: utilize that. Find those mentors in your family, Find those
- 37:53Speaker 4: mentors within you know, their their family or their connections,
- 37:58Speaker 4: you know, network, you know, and just because networking looks
- 38:03Speaker 4: like outside of your family incredible, you would never know
- 38:06Speaker 4: the knowledge that somebody has in your family if you
- 38:08Speaker 4: don't ask them.
- 38:09Speaker 1: It's important. What you're speaking of is very rare.
- 38:12Speaker 2: We don't We don't see enough of it, and perhaps
- 38:14Speaker 2: we should see more of it of a families doing
- 38:17Speaker 2: something like you just.
- 38:18Speaker 4: I'm very proud of them.
- 38:20Speaker 1: It's very rare, but it's it's definitely a commendable.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I want to transit to something that you actually have
- 38:26Speaker 2: put some money into U And every time we go
- 38:28Speaker 2: to events, uh, we see you pop up.
- 38:31Speaker 1: We would just say was it a BT weekend?
- 38:34Speaker 2: And we came outside and so the business let's talk
- 38:37Speaker 2: about our soulful bowls where the idea came from, the
- 38:41Speaker 2: money that it took to start it, and why this
- 38:44Speaker 2: avenue became your new passion.
- 38:47Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I definitely saw, especially being in the music
- 38:51Speaker 4: industry and on the go personality, a lack of healthier
- 38:55Speaker 4: options that were on the go for people like us. Right,
- 38:59Speaker 4: We're just always moving, We're always you know, like the
- 39:02Speaker 4: quicker option is always better, but instead of the quicker
- 39:06Speaker 4: option being healthy, it would always be something that's like, man,
- 39:08Speaker 4: I don't need to be eating this. How did I
- 39:10Speaker 4: end up here knee deep in a chocolate milkshake from
- 39:13Speaker 4: chiefil A? And I'm gonna say yes to it every
- 39:16Speaker 4: time until it was like, Okay, we're in the quarantine.
- 39:19Speaker 4: We can't go outside. You know, what is an option
- 39:22Speaker 4: that I can do so that can make for myself
- 39:24Speaker 4: while I'm in the house, while I'm doing my yoga,
- 39:26Speaker 4: while I'm starting my day off on a relaxing you know, vibe, Like,
- 39:30Speaker 4: how do I keep the vibrations high? Okay, cool, I'm
- 39:33Speaker 4: gonna make an asia E bowl. I learned ii E
- 39:35Speaker 4: from actually going to college in Miami. I would have
- 39:38Speaker 4: never been exposed to other cultures, fruits, anything. If I
- 39:41Speaker 4: hadn't left Atlanta, right, So I got into Spelman, I
- 39:44Speaker 4: got into you know, Campton, I got into all these
- 39:46Speaker 4: places that, you know, they were great options, but I
- 39:51Speaker 4: hadn't left the nest. In a way of I knew
- 39:55Speaker 4: I was going to be exposed to something that was
- 39:57Speaker 4: beyond me. And so I'm going to class with people
- 40:02Speaker 4: who are bringing plantons in for lunch. I'm going to
- 40:04Speaker 4: class with people who are bringing mangoes, and I'm like,
- 40:07Speaker 4: I eat apples and oranges and stuff, and you feel
- 40:10Speaker 4: like you kind of feel like you're ignorant, damn near
- 40:13Speaker 4: because you're just like, damn like I've been doing for
- 40:15Speaker 4: my whole life. But if you haven't been exposed to it,
- 40:18Speaker 4: you just haven't been exposed to it. So I had
- 40:20Speaker 4: a friend of Jamaican descent. She's like, Okay, we're gonna
- 40:23Speaker 4: get some icight e bowls or she made some I
- 40:24Speaker 4: think at home from scratches, but banana some you know,
- 40:28Speaker 4: almond milk or milk or whatever. And you know, you
- 40:31Speaker 4: have the packet and then you put the fruit in
- 40:33Speaker 4: and you blend it, and I'm just like, Okay, put
- 40:35Speaker 4: some granola on top. This is nice. You can put
- 40:37Speaker 4: whatever fruit you want put it on there. So I
- 40:39Speaker 4: was like, okay, cool. So I took that with me
- 40:42Speaker 4: all the way to you know, getting older, and then
- 40:44Speaker 4: realized like this was something that was a healthier stack,
- 40:46Speaker 4: but it wasn't something that would make me feel groggy
- 40:52Speaker 4: or like I had too much, like I could I
- 40:54Speaker 4: could have more, but it also gave me energy, like
- 40:58Speaker 4: it felt healthy, but it wasn't. It tasted still like
- 41:01Speaker 4: a smoothie and a bowl. And so when I realized
- 41:05Speaker 4: I would go on live, I would call it soul
- 41:06Speaker 4: fo balls because I would play music. I would sing
- 41:08Speaker 4: so like mind you music has always been before, like
- 41:12Speaker 4: it's always gonna be behind anything out of it.
- 41:14Speaker 1: We had a classic karaoke we did, and I wanted.
- 41:17Speaker 4: And I wanted to happen again because I'm not gonna
- 41:19Speaker 4: lie ad lib karaoke. I'm onto something. Beauty is her name,
- 41:23Speaker 4: Drew Hill. If you don't do the ad libs, you're
- 41:26Speaker 4: not singing the song. But so I think when you're
- 41:30Speaker 4: showing people on live that you're genuinely enjoying yourself and
- 41:35Speaker 4: you're making a snack for yourself while you're in the house,
- 41:38Speaker 4: not moping, not going off on the Internet wasting time.
- 41:43Speaker 4: I think people truly liked this. I was like, okay,
- 41:45Speaker 4: make the soul ball today. So I would get off
- 41:46Speaker 4: live and I'll probably get back on like later on,
- 41:49Speaker 4: and people would be like, Paige, where are you gonna
- 41:52Speaker 4: Where are you gonna make me a soul ball? Like
- 41:53Speaker 4: when we you know, when you're gonna start making these everybody,
- 41:55Speaker 4: I'm like, let me go ahead and buddies domain real quick.
- 41:58Speaker 4: While we're in this thing. You don't never know what's
- 42:00Speaker 4: gonna happen. Now. I didn't know if we were going
- 42:02Speaker 4: to get out of quarantine, and you know, events were
- 42:05Speaker 4: even going to come back. So I was like, first
- 42:07Speaker 4: of all, why would you even not ever have a trade?
- 42:09Speaker 4: Like you know, you need to be moving right, You
- 42:12Speaker 4: need to have a trade. You need to have something
- 42:15Speaker 4: that you're doing other than hosting. And so I just
- 42:19Speaker 4: started the business and grew and to learn my god,
- 42:23Speaker 4: mom rest, God rest her soul. She had cancers. I
- 42:25Speaker 4: would sit with her every so often. I would talk
- 42:27Speaker 4: about it and she'd be like, Okay, so what does
- 42:29Speaker 4: it look like like? What does the brand story look like?
- 42:31Speaker 4: What is the what are the cartons look like? You know,
- 42:35Speaker 4: what is how are you. What are you telling people
- 42:39Speaker 4: the benefits of it are? Like, did you decide that
- 42:42Speaker 4: you want to just make it a regular bowl or
- 42:44Speaker 4: brick and mortar, or do you want to do direct
- 42:45Speaker 4: to consumer? Like there was all these different options, and
- 42:48Speaker 4: so we were watching have you do you guys watch
- 42:52Speaker 4: Ozark's Yeah, incredible show, watching it, and she's like, man,
- 42:58Speaker 4: Mardy Bird, got it set up. She's like you. She
- 43:00Speaker 4: was like, got set it up for us. I was like,
- 43:02Speaker 4: go on Google, looks for like distributor for like us.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I find it like the first one, and I'm like,
- 43:09Speaker 4: my gosh, I think I just might have got it.
- 43:11Speaker 4: I'm gonna do something, do I promise you? And just
- 43:14Speaker 4: kept going like every so often I would come back
- 43:16Speaker 4: to something else to add to it, and that would
- 43:20Speaker 4: be my favorite thing about it. And so when I
- 43:22Speaker 4: would add, you know, an element of minstead of making
- 43:26Speaker 4: the bulls from scratch, I would get them. I would
- 43:28Speaker 4: pre make them and prepackage them, and then I would
- 43:30Speaker 4: have a recipe getting with a chef shout out to
- 43:34Speaker 4: chef day. She literally would sit with me and we
- 43:37Speaker 4: would go over different with recipes. Now, mind you, obviously
- 43:40Speaker 4: soulful Balls has to have some type of music element.
- 43:43Speaker 4: So the Peaches Bowl was supposed to be the Patti Bowl,
- 43:46Speaker 4: The Ladies Ball was the Aretha Bawl, the Roses Ball
- 43:50Speaker 4: was the Outcast Ball, and it was it was benefits
- 43:52Speaker 4: that had like health benefits in them, right, so they
- 43:56Speaker 4: they're high in antioxidants there. The Ladies Bowl has health
- 44:00Speaker 4: benefits for women's reproductive system. The Peaches Bowl it tastes
- 44:04Speaker 4: like peach collar, but we make our own you know,
- 44:06Speaker 4: crumble that's like a granola. Like the Roses Bowl. It
- 44:09Speaker 4: literally has rose water in it. It's so but it's
- 44:12Speaker 4: great for men's reproductive system, you know, the berries. So
- 44:15Speaker 4: there's just so many benefits to having a healthier option
- 44:19Speaker 4: and also healthier for yourself. And I think that was
- 44:22Speaker 4: something that I wanted to have, especially being a black woman,
- 44:25Speaker 4: especially having you know, food, like food, deserts are real.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Like you you'll be in a space where you're like, bro,
- 44:32Speaker 4: I just want a smoothie right now. Like two years ago,
- 44:35Speaker 4: we got a smoothie a planet, like a tropical smoothie
- 44:39Speaker 4: over there by the East Side, and I was like,
- 44:40Speaker 4: oh my god. I was like what is this And
- 44:43Speaker 4: I knew the guy I found out you know, I
- 44:44Speaker 4: knew the guy that that owned it or was a
- 44:47Speaker 4: part owner, and I was like, I'm so I was
- 44:48Speaker 4: like one of the first people because I was like,
- 44:50Speaker 4: I'm so proud of you guys. And I knew IIU
- 44:53Speaker 4: was going to get hit from scratch, like from jump.
- 44:56Speaker 4: I knew asai E was going to be something that
- 44:57Speaker 4: was gonna move because if you look into the aside,
- 45:01Speaker 4: you know the history of it. First of all, it
- 45:03Speaker 4: was from Brazil, but it's something that people have eaten
- 45:06Speaker 4: for breakfast, lunch, dinner, anything they want for years. And
- 45:11Speaker 4: I knew it was a growing market. And so I
- 45:14Speaker 4: was like, all right, well this was before Smoothieking got it,
- 45:19Speaker 4: Tropical Smoothie got it all the like people did not
- 45:22Speaker 4: have osa ebowls in their companies before I started my business.
- 45:26Speaker 4: And I knew that I had to like start it
- 45:30Speaker 4: when I started it so that I knew that when
- 45:32Speaker 4: they started doing in their own thing that mine would
- 45:34Speaker 4: still stay niche. Mine has prepackaged it. You can you
- 45:38Speaker 4: can freeze it up to like four months and it
- 45:42Speaker 4: could still be good.
- 45:43Speaker 1: So how do you sell it? Like where do you.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Sell it direct to consumer? I do it at pop ups.
- 45:48Speaker 4: You know I'm at invest best right now. I actually
- 45:51Speaker 4: have a setup so at VT Experience, I was told
- 45:55Speaker 4: that there was gonna be like thousands of people. You know.
- 45:57Speaker 4: I made my first oopsie and kind of came with
- 46:01Speaker 4: too much product and I spent a lot of like
- 46:05Speaker 4: it took. It was my first hit, real hit. And
- 46:08Speaker 4: I was like, bruh this like it damn there makes
- 46:11Speaker 4: you feel like you want to like throw like you sick.
- 46:13Speaker 4: You sick when you use use money investments. And I
- 46:17Speaker 4: was like, what is what do I do to come
- 46:18Speaker 4: back from this? And I was like, Okay, I need
- 46:21Speaker 4: to leave a palette out here in Retherlands, California, and
- 46:24Speaker 4: I just need to move it, like I need to
- 46:25Speaker 4: move it in any ways. Like I call myself the
- 46:27Speaker 4: Barry Dealer because I say it like I'm a dealer. Like, Okay,
- 46:30Speaker 4: we need the movies. We need the movies outside evos,
- 46:33Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. Okay, we have a setup
- 46:36Speaker 4: in uh at somebody's movie set. You know, I've done
- 46:39Speaker 4: movie sets with Amazon. I We've done video sets. We've
- 46:44Speaker 4: done literal Uh. I did AD Week not not too
- 46:49Speaker 4: long ago, you know, and I showed up as a
- 46:50Speaker 4: host shout out to Desia, you know, and and Charles
- 46:54Speaker 4: and I showed up as a host. But the next
- 46:55Speaker 4: day Barry's Scott Dale partnered with us and you know
- 46:59Speaker 4: we were able to give out balls to everyone that
- 47:01Speaker 4: was there for the class for a workout class. So
- 47:04Speaker 4: you know, you just kind of utilize as much like
- 47:08Speaker 4: leverage as you can with whatever you're doing. Whatever space
- 47:11Speaker 4: I'm going to be in, I need my balls there.
- 47:12Speaker 4: There's no reason that there shouldn't they shouldn't be there.
- 47:15Speaker 4: And so you know, with you guys, I think I
- 47:17Speaker 4: really appreciated having that platform to be able to give
- 47:20Speaker 4: them out, to be able to sell them. Whenever you
- 47:23Speaker 4: all are doing anything, it's always been something. So I
- 47:25Speaker 4: just love the balls down. I've even had you know,
- 47:29Speaker 4: certain celebrities drop like name drop it, and you know,
- 47:32Speaker 4: it's been in Forbes. May been name dropped before in
- 47:35Speaker 4: Forbes for shout out to Revolts. I mean they literally
- 47:37Speaker 4: had it there before. I mean it's been in places
- 47:42Speaker 4: it needs to be me and as Thatt Fergy loves
- 47:45Speaker 4: the boles so much that he was like, I want
- 47:46Speaker 4: to do a clap like it just it's there. So
- 47:50Speaker 4: I know that people love the bulls. It's more so
- 47:52Speaker 4: how do I scale it? Obviously, grocery stores, obviously, you know,
- 47:56Speaker 4: there's airport options, There's so many options and ways you
- 47:59Speaker 4: can take it. And that's kind of something why that's
- 48:01Speaker 4: like what I'm looking for, Like my next goal is
- 48:04Speaker 4: to kind of find a person that wants to partner
- 48:07Speaker 4: and like an actual VC or you know, an angel investor,
- 48:10Speaker 4: someone that can really truly help and like help me
- 48:14Speaker 4: scale it, because I mean, I'll go from days where
- 48:17Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm about to sell this company. I don't
- 48:21Speaker 4: do what I need to do. Let me get my
- 48:23Speaker 4: money and let me get go. Instead of that, I'm
- 48:25Speaker 4: like no, and then I'll have my little Jimni moment.
- 48:27Speaker 4: I'm like, Okay, he was tripping, Like, you know you
- 48:29Speaker 4: need leg you know, legacy, Legacy is important to you,
- 48:32Speaker 4: and you know that you need to have something for
- 48:36Speaker 4: the people that come after you. And I think fruit asai,
- 48:41Speaker 4: like anything that you know is going to be a
- 48:43Speaker 4: health healthier benefit to the world. Keep you keep.
- 48:47Speaker 2: What would be that first a few items with action items. Right,
- 48:51Speaker 2: I'm sure somebody's probably listened to this right now and
- 48:53Speaker 2: they're saying, oh, I need to get in contact with her.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Let's say that it is an angel investor. What the
- 48:59Speaker 2: extra capital do for the business immediately?
- 49:03Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, Well, for starters, I would be able to
- 49:05Speaker 4: get a distributor that can make help me get them
- 49:08Speaker 4: in grocery stores that would be able to make thirty
- 49:10Speaker 4: thousand units in like a week span or a couple
- 49:15Speaker 4: of weeks, you know, a month span, so we can
- 49:17Speaker 4: get it out. We can get that money back immediately,
- 49:20Speaker 4: like we know what it needs to do. Meet with
- 49:22Speaker 4: a chemist to be able to find out what, you know,
- 49:27Speaker 4: the actual how long they can last. Like when it's
- 49:30Speaker 4: like okay, page this is this product is no more
- 49:33Speaker 4: good because I'll have people that eat it, I'm like,
- 49:36Speaker 4: so how are you feeling after that? You okay? And
- 49:40Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, they're like yeah, they're it and the
- 49:42Speaker 4: nutritional facts are on there. You know, everything's on there
- 49:44Speaker 4: for them. But it's like there are things that are
- 49:46Speaker 4: small details that I want to grow it in even
- 49:52Speaker 4: figuring out I need people to come with things that
- 49:56Speaker 4: I don't have. And I think that's the thing because
- 49:59Speaker 4: I'm a person that's a go get her in a
- 50:00Speaker 4: way where I'm going to figure it out, Like I
- 50:03Speaker 4: know that I can get offered a kiosk in an airport.
- 50:07Speaker 4: Why would that make sense for us to do instead
- 50:08Speaker 4: of going into the air into the grocery stores. Help
- 50:11Speaker 4: me help myself and then help us like, you know,
- 50:15Speaker 4: or do we want to get more e SKUs or
- 50:16Speaker 4: do we want to get rid of all of these?
- 50:18Speaker 4: You know that those questions are things that I want
- 50:20Speaker 4: to talk with someone with. And maybe you know, I
- 50:22Speaker 4: have a business manager, Jessica Kouch. She's been able to
- 50:26Speaker 4: help me, you know, organize, but to be the charismatic
- 50:30Speaker 4: person I am and try to set up stuff and
- 50:32Speaker 4: then also do the things on the backside. I can't
- 50:34Speaker 4: do it both. So it has to be someone that's
- 50:36Speaker 4: like more knowledgeable on it than I am, and that
- 50:40Speaker 4: has actually proven that they've they've had a product that
- 50:43Speaker 4: they've done it with. I get closer every every week,
- 50:46Speaker 4: you know, I get I go to afrotech and then
- 50:48Speaker 4: there's a target product, you know, manager and she's like,
- 50:52Speaker 4: send me, send me the store, let's get it.
- 50:54Speaker 1: You know.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Have you tried out have you done any accelerator programs?
- 50:57Speaker 4: Have you done any grants? I'm like, have I you know,
- 51:00Speaker 4: I've submitted plenty of times, but it's like it gives
- 51:04Speaker 4: who do you know, It's like, you know, it's like
- 51:06Speaker 4: what what do you do? So I think, how do
- 51:08Speaker 4: I add that person to my team? How do I
- 51:10Speaker 4: find that person? So that is definitely the goal.
- 51:15Speaker 1: So what's your position with Great Goose?
- 51:18Speaker 4: Ah? I'm a business manager for Rio? Y'all? Okay? So,
- 51:23Speaker 4: like honestly, being an entrepreneur going into a title or
- 51:28Speaker 4: corporate setting is like crazy because you're just like they're
- 51:30Speaker 4: doing background checks, they're doing all the things like you
- 51:33Speaker 4: got training. But it's been beautiful. So I actually shout
- 51:39Speaker 4: out to Jordan Gibbs and he and I met through
- 51:43Speaker 4: his brother and family and friends and another guy named Yusaf.
- 51:47Speaker 4: He was working with an incredible a three C festival
- 51:52Speaker 4: that we used to have here in Atlanta. And he
- 51:57Speaker 4: was just like, yo, I mean, we're hiring for this
- 51:59Speaker 4: new positions position that I am now taking giving you
- 52:03Speaker 4: over the role over to. And I was like, all right, well,
- 52:06Speaker 4: like I'm not really like you know, I mean, I'm
- 52:09Speaker 4: I never really had into resume, but I had it,
- 52:12Speaker 4: but like around college, and I would send that resume
- 52:15Speaker 4: out and I would have a meeting. I would take
- 52:17Speaker 4: a meeting with the label like Innerscope or people would
- 52:20Speaker 4: actually set these things up with me, and then they'd
- 52:22Speaker 4: be like, we can't, Like you deserve something bigger than
- 52:26Speaker 4: this role, Like you're bigger than this. So it was like,
- 52:28Speaker 4: how do I find a role that made sense for
- 52:31Speaker 4: paigd schari Addison, Like what does it look like? And
- 52:35Speaker 4: so I just got the role of the multicultural lifestyle
- 52:38Speaker 4: Curator of Atlanta and that is, you know, encompassing not
- 52:42Speaker 4: only representing the brand in all of my life and
- 52:45Speaker 4: the lifestyle I have, but how that brand elevates, you know,
- 52:50Speaker 4: and how I can continue bringing the elevation to the
- 52:53Speaker 4: brand through Atlanta's eyes right and in the right eyes.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Like we don't have just hookah bars and lounges, like
- 53:01Speaker 4: we have elevated experiences. We have we literally have screenings
- 53:05Speaker 4: of movies that are doing numbers on you know, in
- 53:11Speaker 4: different types of film, you know, the film world, you know,
- 53:15Speaker 4: and I think that's just like beautiful to see. We
- 53:17Speaker 4: have art, we have the Giants exhibit right now at
- 53:20Speaker 4: the Art you know the High Museum, like things that
- 53:22Speaker 4: truly show the elevation of Atlanta. And so I'm ready
- 53:26Speaker 4: and excited to be able to curate those experiences on
- 53:29Speaker 4: alongside the other team members that I have. We have
- 53:34Speaker 4: a team member Lester in Chicago. I'm the only female
- 53:38Speaker 4: on the team, so like I'm like a first lady.
- 53:42Speaker 4: But Olmo and DC and then Jordan gives he's like
- 53:45Speaker 4: now over he oversees all of it, and he's in
- 53:48Speaker 4: Atlanta with me. So yeah, it's it's kind of it's
- 53:51Speaker 4: kind of dope because it's like you kind of you're
- 53:53Speaker 4: being you're showing up as yourself, you're showing up to learn,
- 53:56Speaker 4: but you're also seeing how from a corporate standpoint, you know,
- 54:00Speaker 4: how the in sides of things work, and how many
- 54:04Speaker 4: teams there are to be able to just like grow,
- 54:08Speaker 4: like they make it scared, they do it, and then
- 54:10Speaker 4: there's this, and then they have that, and then there's that.
- 54:13Speaker 4: Like it's incredible to watch.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so congratulations first and foremost.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Some people might be sitting here watching this and saying,
- 54:22Speaker 2: like she looks super familiar, like this, I know it
- 54:24Speaker 2: from somewhere that they just can't.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Figure it out.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Maybe it wasn't best Fast, maybe some other summit, or
- 54:30Speaker 2: maybe it was reality TV. So let's let's let's let's
- 54:33Speaker 2: let's talk about the reality t TV situation. Uh, what
- 54:37Speaker 2: you learned from it, how it might have helped or
- 54:40Speaker 2: entered your brand.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's get into it.
- 54:45Speaker 4: You know, I did a TV show. It was a
- 54:48Speaker 4: dating show, and when I shot it, it was actually
- 54:52Speaker 4: supposed to be on another it was gonna think it'supposed
- 54:54Speaker 4: to be on the gage one. I don't remember. I
- 54:56Speaker 4: just remember that my friend Tam she's from Atlanta, one
- 55:00Speaker 4: of my good homegirls from college, and we from Atlanta
- 55:03Speaker 4: for real, Like you know, when you know each other,
- 55:05Speaker 4: when you know you don't really have to go to
- 55:06Speaker 4: the same high school to know people right in Atlanta,
- 55:09Speaker 4: you like, you know, you kind of like have some
- 55:11Speaker 4: of the the same friends and then you just kind
- 55:13Speaker 4: of intertwine and she calls me up and the two questions,
- 55:16Speaker 4: mind you, this was right around when I was hosting
- 55:18Speaker 4: virvol So she's like, two questions, are you dating? And
- 55:23Speaker 4: are you vaccinated? And I'm like, girl, like who asked
- 55:27Speaker 4: questions like this, Like two important questions, two important questions
- 55:31Speaker 4: that are just so like it's giving invasive. And so
- 55:34Speaker 4: I was like, I'm I'm vaccinated and I wasn't dating
- 55:37Speaker 4: at the time, and so I think I was people
- 55:41Speaker 4: were choosing to take, you know, to be in that
- 55:45Speaker 4: role of yeah, we're seeing each other, but they weren't
- 55:48Speaker 4: like understanding the value of having Paige Shari standing beside you.
- 55:52Speaker 4: And I think there was something that was in me
- 55:56Speaker 4: that was just like, yeah, I do it to show
- 55:58Speaker 4: them all like you should have, you should have, could have,
- 56:01Speaker 4: would have and now all those things wrong, wrong way
- 56:05Speaker 4: to go into it. However, I also thought about my
- 56:09Speaker 4: businesses and the things that of me as a personality,
- 56:13Speaker 4: what I would want to do, So I think we
- 56:15Speaker 4: should It was a twenty twenty one because I think
- 56:17Speaker 4: you guys were like around when I was like, okay,
- 56:20Speaker 4: you guys are just.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Right before you said you were about to do it.
- 56:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like I'm about to sign and y'all
- 56:25Speaker 4: were like, so you so you're doing it and I
- 56:27Speaker 4: was like no, I'm literally about to sign the paperwork,
- 56:29Speaker 4: like my lawyer is in here right now while I'm
- 56:32Speaker 4: going on and off of stage for Revolt, and I
- 56:35Speaker 4: was just like, you know, I got advice from all
- 56:38Speaker 4: different managers and friends and they were like, it can't
- 56:40Speaker 4: really hurt, and I just did it and it was
- 56:46Speaker 4: a great experience, you know, two months, three months in Vancouver,
- 56:51Speaker 4: you know, being with the girls, we just get we
- 56:55Speaker 4: go on a hall. I found out, we just go
- 56:57Speaker 4: on a hall. I didn't have any clue what reality
- 56:59Speaker 4: TV was, y'all. I really didn't. I watched I barely
- 57:02Speaker 4: watched TV, like especially reality TV growing up, and so
- 57:06Speaker 4: I didn't know what to expect. And all I'm thinking
- 57:09Speaker 4: about is I'm gonna go in here. I'm going to
- 57:10Speaker 4: make sure I do what I need to do. I'm
- 57:13Speaker 4: going in here as myself, and whatever happens happens. And
- 57:17Speaker 4: I had a good time. I did. I was very
- 57:19Speaker 4: present and I focused a lot, didn't you know. Obviously
- 57:25Speaker 4: you walk in a room full of men and you're like, okay,
- 57:28Speaker 4: what's what's t Like, what's going on here? Like what
- 57:30Speaker 4: are we doing? And then like they're like, literally, we're
- 57:32Speaker 4: gonna set updates and you guys are just gonna go
- 57:34Speaker 4: on them and you're gonna be seen in a light
- 57:36Speaker 4: where you're supposed to be and so yeah, I uh, genuinely,
- 57:45Speaker 4: I just like walked in and there was this guy
- 57:49Speaker 4: there and I was like, okay, he was pretty Yeah,
- 57:51Speaker 4: it was crazy. I have to get that and I
- 57:56Speaker 4: walked in and this guy was just like looking at me,
- 57:58Speaker 4: and I was like, all right, I choose him, and
- 58:00Speaker 4: like it wasn't like I had already. I didn't go
- 58:03Speaker 4: into the experience the way I would have with knowing
- 58:07Speaker 4: what I know now. But I definitely never regret anything
- 58:11Speaker 4: I do because I'm like, that was what it was
- 58:13Speaker 4: supposed to be. It was I supposed to learn something,
- 58:15Speaker 4: I'm supposed to grow and it MTV ended up being
- 58:19Speaker 4: the one that put it out. I was literally in
- 58:21Speaker 4: a visa in Abita with Janelle at the time, my friend,
- 58:25Speaker 4: and I'm like, they're like, three years later, we're about
- 58:28Speaker 4: to put the show out and I'm like what. I'm like,
- 58:30Speaker 4: I forgot all about that show. But I will say this,
- 58:36Speaker 4: I I know now that if I were to do
- 58:40Speaker 4: anything with reality TV or TV or film or anything
- 58:43Speaker 4: ever again, it would need to be produced by me
- 58:47Speaker 4: or at least on the production team. And I would
- 58:50Speaker 4: want to truthfully have a hand in what people get
- 58:57Speaker 4: to see, because I think the real is the most
- 59:01Speaker 4: important part of reality and people don't. It's not as
- 59:05Speaker 4: much you know, I think there are So.
- 59:07Speaker 1: You don't think you were fairly portrayed?
- 59:10Speaker 4: Oh I mean, I'm a crier, so I think I
- 59:12Speaker 4: think you know, they showed me crying. I'm gonna cry
- 59:15Speaker 4: if anybody knows me out there, they know, hey, excuse me,
- 59:18Speaker 4: Paige is gonna cry every time. And then I'm gonna
- 59:20Speaker 4: get i'mna get to the business. I'mnna get down to
- 59:22Speaker 4: everything I need to do. And that's how it went.
- 59:25Speaker 4: It was like, okay, y'all, I did a TV show.
- 59:28Speaker 4: Everybody relaxed, like yeah, I know, y'all are like, what when.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Did you do this?
- 59:32Speaker 4: When did you have time? And it's like, yeah, I
- 59:33Speaker 4: did it. And then now we're here and let's continue,
- 59:36Speaker 4: let's carry on.
- 59:37Speaker 1: So do you think that helped you?
- 59:39Speaker 4: I don't think it hindered. I think it was a
- 59:42Speaker 4: moment in time that, like in your twenties, what you're
- 59:46Speaker 4: you can do, you can do things that you're like, ah,
- 59:49Speaker 4: I'm thirty now, I probably wouldn't do that, but like
- 59:52Speaker 4: I did it. I don't regret it.
- 59:55Speaker 3: I'm just asking.
- 59:56Speaker 4: No, I'm saying I don't. I don't think it helped
- 59:58Speaker 4: nor hindered. I don't think it really. It was the experience,
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: and I think that's what I do things for. I
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: experienced life. I'm not choosing to do things for another
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: person's like opinion on it. I'm just being And then
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: you know, if I make a if I make a
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: decision that I'm like, I wouldn't do anymore cool. The
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: Gemini and Me is like, okay, moving on, Like there's
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: five more people in me. We're continuing. The next person
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: that you never met is here, and she's here like
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: she's gotta roll at Gray Goose, you know, like she's
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: she's I'm genuinely proud of the connection that I saw
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: from black women when we it was three of us,
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: but from the connection that a black women that we
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: were able to get because we didn't get a ringion
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: show and I produced one, and I felt like, you know,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: a lot of people had mixed emotions on why we
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: did it, and I was like, look, I was like,
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: it's okay, I'll give you guys an update on my life.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: I don't care, but I do want you guys to
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: know that, like focus on understanding that, like, even if
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: my love story didn't work out like in the way
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: you had hoped it to be or how I had
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: hoped it to be, from this, like, don't ever think
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: that it's not happening for you, or don't think it's
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: not coming. I wanted it to be a hopeful thing.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: I wanted it to be a joyous occasion, like I
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: wanted it to be something of people understanding, like, first
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: of all, black women deserve to be seen on all
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: platforms like that in that light right, not where it's like, oh,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: we're going to be pulling each other hair out, we
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: about to be arguing, We about to be doing some
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: stuff that ain't got none to do with nothing, like
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: we're genuinely trying. We genuinely all want the same things. Love, prosperity, abundance,
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: enjoyment in life, money, and and to just settle down
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: in the ways we want you know. So yeah, I really,
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: like I said, it didn't hinder it. You definitely need
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: to always have a plan when it comes out, And
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: I wasn't able to have a plan, Like I wasn't
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: able to be like, all right, let me set the
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: pr up, let me make sure I got my product
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: drop in on this or having my you know, like,
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: I wanted to focus on that. And I think because
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: of the fact that the relationship didn't work out, I
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: think people were kind of like well, I don't like,
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: we want to know the story, like what happened. It's
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: just like girl like y'all. Y'all never knew my like
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: my insides of my life before. And I gave y'all
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: this because it was something that was like an experience
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: that I wanted to experience, not because I was like, oh,
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: y'all gonna see it. No, I'm like I got different brands,
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: I got different things that I want other than this
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: to be the forefront of it.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: So you have it, well, I did it well, appreciate you.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: How can they how can they follow you?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: What?
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: How can they get information on the company?
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Like what's all of it?
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: Well for starters, I definitely want to make sure I
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: shut out. My sister's children's book on investment in children's
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: literacy even in India is coming out, and that one's
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: like the newer one, and that it is like so much.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: She's got so many great things. But she really started
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: that because she was a school teacher. She was on
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: the school board, just seeing in the classroom in real time,
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: like how these kids genuinely didn't have any knowledge of
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: what to do with their like how what savings would
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: even look like? And I think she had a student
