- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here! Last time, we learned how King Saul became
- 0:13jealous of David, and how David chose kindness
- 0:16instead of revenge. Today, we'll see what happened
- 0:21next, when Saul's time as king came to an end,
- 0:25and how David finally became king. just as God
- 0:29had promised long ago. Let's explore how God's
- 0:33plan came true, even after many years. Israel
- 0:48faced a terrible battle against the Philistines.
- 0:52During that battle, Saul and his sons lost their
- 0:56lives. When David heard the news, he tore his
- 1:00clothes, cried, and mourned. He did not celebrate,
- 1:06he showed honor to the man who had once been
- 1:09God's chosen king, and he grieved deeply for
- 1:12his friend Jonathan. David and his men fasted
- 1:16and prayed. He told them that Israel had lost
- 1:20brave warriors, and his heart felt very heavy.
- 1:24After some time passed, David asked God what
- 1:28he should do next. God told him to go to the
- 1:32town of Hebron. When David arrived, the leaders
- 1:36of Judah came to him. They said they believed
- 1:40God wanted him to be their king. So they anointed
- 1:44him, they poured oil on his head as a sign that
- 1:47God had chosen him. But this wasn't the end yet.
- 1:52The rest of Israel did not choose David right
- 1:55away. Another man became king over the other
- 1:59tribes, and for a long time, there was conflict
- 2:03between the two sides. David did not fight to
- 2:08grab the throne. He waited. He trusted. He led
- 2:13with patience and kindness, not anger or pride.
- 2:17After many years, all the leaders of Israel finally
- 2:21came to David in Hebron. They reminded him that
- 2:26even when Saul had been king, David had been
- 2:29the one who helped Israel in battles. They told
- 2:33him they believed God wanted him to shepherd
- 2:36the whole nation. So the leaders made a covenant
- 2:40with David, a promise before God, and they anointed
- 2:44him king over all Israel. David was thirty years
- 2:49old when he became king. and he became strong
- 2:52because God was with him. After so many years
- 2:56of waiting, God's promise had come true. David
- 3:07waited a long, long time before becoming king.
- 3:11He had to be patient, brave, and obedient while
- 3:16he trusted God's timing. Let's think about a
- 3:20few things together. Why do you think David refused
- 3:25to take the throne by force, even when he had
- 3:28the chance? Have you ever had to wait a long
- 3:33time for something important? What does this
- 3:38story teach us about God's promises? God always
- 3:45keeps his word even when the journey takes longer
- 3:48than we expect. Thank you for joining me today.
- 3:53Next time on Wonderfully Made, we'll see how
- 3:57King David begins to lead Israel, and how he
- 4:00brings the ark of God to Jerusalem with celebration,
- 4:04music, and joy. Until then, remember, you are
- 4:09wonderfully made. Bye for now.
