Speaker 5: There is no high school football tonight. Chris Lawrence, who
• 3:40
Speaker 5: normally would be rare and rre to go to cover

Speaker 5: the hurricane Hurricane. Did I just say hurricane? I live
• 3:47

• 3:50
Speaker 5: is here. Good morning, sir, Good morning.
• 3:51
  Speaker 7: How are you.
• 3:52
Speaker 5: I'm doing fine, And other than the fact I can't
• 3:54
Speaker 5: apparently pronounce the town that I live in and Tom Bragg,
• 3:58
Speaker 5: who would be doing the Herbert Hoover game tonight, is here.
• 4:01
Speaker 5: How are you, sir? Good morning Dave. All right, So
• 4:03
Speaker 5: what are you guys gonna do tonight? You're just gonna
• 4:05
  Speaker 5: hang out?
• 4:05
Speaker 7: Or I think I'm gonna take my wife to dinner
• 4:09
Speaker 7: for the first time this fall, Son first Friday night
• 4:12
Speaker 7: free in a while, KFC here, come to Lawrence. Now,
• 4:17
Speaker 7: that's actually that's actually a Thursday night tradition there.
• 4:20
Speaker 5: So all right, I got you. I guess what about you, Tom?
• 4:22
Speaker 8: I might watch the Tyson fight tonight, so okay, And
• 4:26
Speaker 8: it was as a spectacle not to watch it for
• 4:28
  Speaker 8: the boxing, because I'm I.
• 4:30
Speaker 5: Was a big boxing fan growing up. I just kind
• 4:31
Speaker 5: of got out of it at one point. And this
• 4:33
  Speaker 5: logan Paul, I mean, I guess he's a YouTube guy
• 4:36
  Speaker 5: or something.
• 4:37
Speaker 8: I guess some sort of internet celebrity, social media personality.
• 4:41
Speaker 7: He's been a bit of everywhere. He didn't really fit
• 4:43
Speaker 7: the mold of a YouTube guy. When I heard that,
• 4:45
  Speaker 7: I was like, that guy's a YouTube.
• 4:47
Speaker 5: He looks like somebody. He looked like a two year
• 4:49
Speaker 5: old just took a marker all over himself, you know.
• 4:51
Speaker 5: And uh, but but anyway, what's gonna happen in the
• 4:55
Speaker 5: fight tonight? Guys? I don't know Mike.
• 4:58
Speaker 8: Tyson's an old man now, but watching some of those
• 5:01
Speaker 8: training videos, I wouldn't want to get hit by him
• 5:03
  Speaker 8: right now.
• 5:03
Speaker 7: Yeah, I was saying the same thing. Jev and I
• 5:05
Speaker 7: were talking about that in the morning News. I didn't
• 5:08
Speaker 7: really when I heard that Card, I was like, well,
• 5:11
Speaker 7: Tyson's gonna walk away with that thing. He'll knock him
• 5:13
Speaker 7: out one round. It didn't really dawn him until I
• 5:15
Speaker 7: heard Weekly breaking it down with his fight guy yesterday
• 5:19
Speaker 7: that Tyson's fifty eight. I was like, well, okay, that
• 5:21
Speaker 7: does make a difference because I'm fifty six and I
• 5:24
  Speaker 7: ain't what I was in the eighties. But Tyson's a
• 5:27
Speaker 7: different deal man. He's still he's still ripped, and he's.
• 5:31
Speaker 5: As good as he once was once. Yeah, and he's
• 5:35
Speaker 5: an actual crazy person. I would get in the ring he.
• 5:37
  Speaker 9: Is, you know.
• 5:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, let's talk high school football. We have
• 5:41
Speaker 5: no playoff action, and I have had Fred on every
• 5:44
Speaker 5: day this week and in the nine to fifty slots
• 5:46
Speaker 5: talk about it. He is not a toty mistake. Could
• 5:49
Speaker 5: have the day off. Then I find out he's on Hopy.
• 5:51
Speaker 5: You know, it's gooding up this morning. So anything new
• 5:54
Speaker 5: in the last twenty four hours, Chris, I'll start with you.
• 5:56
Speaker 7: Well, they they have submitted the case to the Supreme Court.
• 6:00
Speaker 7: The SSAC has appealed the two competing injunctions from Wood
• 6:05
Speaker 7: and Mason Counties, and then they folded in. Fred told
• 6:07
Speaker 7: me this morning that they had added the one from
• 6:10
Speaker 7: Berkeley County that restored the winds of spring Mills, which
• 6:15
Speaker 7: all have an impact on what the final standings will be.
• 6:18
Speaker 7: And I guess at this point it comes down. It
• 6:21
Speaker 7: boils down to the the SSAC needs to be told
• 6:26
Speaker 7: by the Supreme Court which set of rankings they need
• 6:30
Speaker 7: to use to set the playoffs. The ones that were
• 6:32
Speaker 7: set at the beginning of the season are the ones
• 6:35
Speaker 7: that were set by the Wood County judges ruling at
• 6:38
Speaker 7: the end of the season, and that will determine, hopefully
• 6:43
Speaker 7: the end of this. And I guess they'll have to
• 6:45
Speaker 7: figure out did spring Mills play an ineligible player or
• 6:51
Speaker 7: as the lower court judge ruled, sided with the spring
• 6:55
Speaker 7: Mills people, that this this guy that was in it
• 6:59
Speaker 7: was declared in l but the SSAC should have been
• 7:03
Speaker 7: eligible because he was a homeless person and there was
• 7:06
Speaker 7: an act that a federal law that says you have
• 7:08
Speaker 7: to remove barriers for homeless kids to get an educational
• 7:13
Speaker 7: opportunity and that includes extra curricular So that's what they
• 7:16
Speaker 7: were standing on, which, uh, and I guess that's just
• 7:19
  Speaker 7: a judgment call.
• 7:20
  Speaker 10: And if.
• 7:22
Speaker 7: Spring Mills, if the appeal is not granted and the
• 7:26
Speaker 7: lower court's ruling is upheld, the spring Mills will be
• 7:29
Speaker 7: nine and one, and that will change the Quad A
• 7:31
Speaker 7: standings and the Quad A postseason schedule. Everybody will have
• 7:35
Speaker 7: a different team they're gonna have to play even from
• 7:37
Speaker 7: the first two the first two sets of regulation or
• 7:41
  Speaker 7: of A pairings. So hopefully, and I don't think there's
• 7:45
Speaker 7: any anything been said yet, but hopefully we'll get a
• 7:47
Speaker 7: ruling on that sometime today. And if that's the case,
• 7:51
Speaker 7: we'll have some we'll have some predictability about what's going
• 7:54
Speaker 7: to happen, and we can get ready to play next weekend.
• 7:57
Speaker 5: So, Tom, how do you fix this a time machine?
• 8:01
Speaker 8: I think you go back, and I think the first
• 8:03
Speaker 8: little domino is several years ago when the powers that
• 8:07
Speaker 8: be sort of cave to the people that were complaining
• 8:08
Speaker 8: about the Catholic schools or went in too many basketball tournaments.
• 8:11
Speaker 8: We got to go to four classes. We got to
• 8:12
Speaker 8: give these smaller schools a chance, and basketball worked. It
• 8:16
Speaker 8: wasn't ideal, but it worked with four classes in the
• 8:19
Speaker 8: time period they did it. I think football and some
• 8:21
Speaker 8: of the other sports could have even worked in the
• 8:23
Speaker 8: expanding classes. But the big mistake this year, I think
• 8:26
Speaker 8: was back in August when they moved everybody around right
• 8:28
Speaker 8: before the season started. Schedules were already made, and you
• 8:31
Speaker 8: run into this problem with bonus points. Teams are coming
• 8:33
Speaker 8: down from Quada into Triple A. The MSAC is full
• 8:36
Speaker 8: of those. If you Huntingdon High or Hurricane as an example,
• 8:39
Speaker 8: you've got Capital in your schedule, they went down. You've
• 8:41
Speaker 8: got South Charleston on your schedule. Well they went down
• 8:44
Speaker 8: and the points just aren't there. That's really where they
• 8:47
Speaker 8: messed this up. My time machine would go back to
• 8:48
Speaker 8: August and just say, just get through this season. Maybe
• 8:51
Speaker 8: we can figure it out at the end. And it
• 8:54
Speaker 8: wasn't like people didn't see this coming in August when
• 8:56
Speaker 8: they made this change. It's been kind of the talk
• 8:58
Speaker 8: throughout the season. It's like, oh, well, we might get
• 9:01
Speaker 8: through the regular season, but the playoffs are going to
• 9:02
Speaker 8: be a mess, and and here we are in the
• 9:04
Speaker 8: playoffs are a mess.
• 9:05
  Speaker 5: Indeed they are.
• 9:06
Speaker 11: Can I interject here?
• 9:07
Speaker 5: Yeah, Matt Murphy here.
• 9:09
Speaker 11: Tom brag just made a really good point. Here's kind
• 9:11
Speaker 11: of my issue with all of this, though, all these
• 9:13
Speaker 11: folks that filed these injunctions, why didn't they do this
• 9:16
Speaker 11: back in August when they first decided that they were
• 9:19
Speaker 11: going to change the points system.
• 9:20
Speaker 5: And the classes, and because many of them didn't realize
• 9:22
Speaker 5: they were going to be out of the playoffs.
• 9:24
Speaker 10: Well see I butN.
• 9:24
Speaker 11: That's the thing. It's like you get to the end
• 9:27
Speaker 11: of the season and you're like, oh, well we could
• 9:29
Speaker 11: maybe be in there. We're going to take this to
• 9:31
Speaker 11: the court. You know, hindsight is twenty twenty. Why didn't
• 9:35
Speaker 11: they If they had an issue with that, they should
• 9:37
Speaker 11: have done it from the very beginning.
• 9:39
Speaker 5: In my opinion, yeah, I would one agree that we
• 9:42
Speaker 5: are doing though high school game night tonight. I told
• 9:45
Speaker 5: Fred yesterday, they're going to go back in the time
• 9:47
Speaker 5: machine this week in nineteen seventy eight in the playoffs.
• 9:50
  Speaker 5: That's what they're going to do, and that's what they're
• 9:52
Speaker 5: going to do tonight, but that's going to air with
• 9:53
Speaker 5: Fred and Dave at seven thirty to night. We had
• 9:56
Speaker 5: a tech I mean, I'm sorry, nine to thirty. We
• 9:58
Speaker 5: have a text here and said, is anyone going to
• 9:59
Speaker 5: BROADCA has the high school playoff games tomorrow radio or television?
• 10:02
  Speaker 5: I mean, well, we're not.
• 10:06
Speaker 7: I gave it some thought, but we have Mountaineer coverage
• 10:09
Speaker 7: on and that would come right in the middle of it.
• 10:11
Speaker 7: And it's there's just too many unknowns there. We can't
• 10:15
Speaker 7: really plan for that if we are not certain that
• 10:17
Speaker 7: they're going to be played exactly. And I'm not certain
• 10:19
Speaker 7: that they're going to be played I'm not either, and
• 10:22
  Speaker 7: and I can't. I can't really commit the station to
• 10:25
Speaker 7: something like that when it's potentially gonna get canceled.
• 10:29
Speaker 5: Right, and you know, the Mountaineers are going to play
• 10:30
  Speaker 5: exactly now.
• 10:32
Speaker 7: Now, had it had we gone ahead with what we
• 10:34
Speaker 7: had last week, yes, we would have moved the Mountaineers
• 10:36
Speaker 7: over to another station and we would have put the
• 10:38
Speaker 7: Hurricane game on Saturday afternoon on w c CHS. But
• 10:43
Speaker 7: that would that would be because we had certainty there
• 10:45
Speaker 7: and we have done all those games. This one's just
• 10:48
Speaker 7: kind of been sprung on us, and could we do it, probably,
• 10:50
Speaker 7: but it would not be easy to manipulate things around
• 10:54
Speaker 7: here to get it to that point. And since I
• 10:56
Speaker 7: don't have any certainty that we're going to play that game,
• 10:58
  Speaker 7: I can't.
• 10:59
Speaker 5: Well, hopefully by this time next week, when I have
• 11:01
Speaker 5: you two here, we'll be talking about what Hoover's going
• 11:04
Speaker 5: to be doing and what Hurricane is going to be
• 11:05
Speaker 5: doing in the playoffs. That's that's that's all right, Chris.
• 11:08
Speaker 5: What do you got on West Virginia out Doors tomorrow one, Well,
• 11:10
Speaker 5: it's we're two weeks away from the open buck season.
• 11:12
Speaker 5: I'll have on the h the head of the Deer Project,
• 11:16
Speaker 5: Brett Skelley from the West Virginia DNR, and we'll pick
• 11:19
Speaker 5: his brain about his forecast for the upcoming season. And
• 11:21
Speaker 5: I got another cool story about a big buck killed
• 11:24
Speaker 5: on public land in Webster County, and it was a
• 11:27
Speaker 5: monster buck. And you don't hear about a ton of those.
• 11:30
Speaker 5: But there's still some big bucks up in that National
• 11:32
Speaker 5: Forest if you're if you get back in there deep enough,
• 11:35
Speaker 5: you can find them. So we'll talk about that, all right.
• 11:37
Speaker 5: Chris will be listening tomorrow morning. Enjoy you, Enjoy the
• 11:39
Speaker 5: dinner with the wife tonight. I we'll do that. Indeed,
• 11:42
Speaker 5: all right, Tom sticking, I'll let you hang out with
• 11:44
Speaker 5: me a little bit because we're going to try to
• 11:45
Speaker 5: give away a dog. Via Dave Alan Show on five

Speaker 5: week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, Good morning,
• 12:00
Speaker 5: Good morning, how are you fine? Ive got Tom Bragg
• 12:03
Speaker 5: here with me as well. We are going to tell
• 12:05
Speaker 5: you a story of a dog by the name of Barnabas.
• 12:09
Speaker 5: And as always, Barnabas or our pet of the week's
• 12:12
Speaker 5: picture posted to Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at
• 12:14
Speaker 5: Dave A seventy on Twitter. Tell Tom myself and all
• 12:18
Speaker 5: the listeners about Barnabas.
• 12:21
Speaker 9: All right, Well, Barnabas is an eleven month old man.
• 12:25
Speaker 9: He is very, very very sweet. He's very laid back,
• 12:29
Speaker 9: and he does walk well in the leash. From what
• 12:33
Speaker 9: we do know, I think that he was a straight
• 12:37
Speaker 9: up I think we ended up finding out like stuff
• 12:39
Speaker 9: about him and his past and everything. I don't know
• 12:43
Speaker 9: if we have like official documents of anything, but we
• 12:47
Speaker 9: were told that he has a registered Japanese akita. We
• 12:51
Speaker 9: may have those papers, however, I'm not sure if we
• 12:54
Speaker 9: actually do or not. I'll have to double check on
• 12:57
Speaker 9: that because I'm not exactly sure where that came from.
• 13:01
Speaker 9: But I do know that we know who's a Japanese akida.
• 13:05
Speaker 9: He is very, very good. He's best with gentler dogs
• 13:09
Speaker 9: as friends, as he's not a very hyperactive man himself,
• 13:13
Speaker 9: so he likes somebody has a friend who if there's
• 13:16
Speaker 9: other animals in the house, who is going to be
• 13:19
Speaker 9: more laid back, might play a little bit, but he's
• 13:21
Speaker 9: he's laid back himself. Even though he's eleven months old.
• 13:25
Speaker 9: He is around fifty eight pounds, and he, like I said,
• 13:30
Speaker 9: he prefers comer dogs. But of course we always advos
• 13:33
Speaker 9: caution when introducing them to other animals, kids, anything like that,
• 13:39
Speaker 9: and we have noticed in our care that he seems
• 13:42
Speaker 9: to be okay with kids. However, again, always advised caution.
• 13:47
Speaker 9: I always say that you should be able to teach
• 13:49
Speaker 9: your kids man It's just the same as you should
• 13:51
Speaker 9: be able to teach your dogs manners. Vice versa. So
• 13:55
Speaker 9: just definitely be cautious of that, regardless of who you're
• 13:58
Speaker 9: introducing them to. Very very good boy, and he's not
• 14:01
Speaker 9: fixed yet, but he will be. So if you come
• 14:04
Speaker 9: to adopt, or if you come to foster, or however
• 14:06
Speaker 9: you come up to see any of the dogs, then
• 14:10
Speaker 9: come on up and take him out for a walk
• 14:13
Speaker 9: or anything like that and take him home because he
• 14:15
Speaker 9: is a good, good boy.
• 14:16
  Speaker 5: He's a good looking dog.
• 14:17
Speaker 8: Tom Oh, Yeah, Barnabas is a great looking dog and
• 14:20
Speaker 8: a great name too. I love that name, Barne.
• 14:23
Speaker 5: I want to talk a little bit about that breed
• 14:26
Speaker 5: because I was talking to Leah of who's my office
• 14:28
Speaker 5: made upstairs, and Lee and I were talking about the
• 14:30
Speaker 5: Japanese Akida. We're not trying to scare people away from
• 14:33
Speaker 5: those dogs, but they are. And I don't know a
• 14:34
Speaker 5: whole lot about him. It's a specific kind of person
• 14:37
Speaker 5: that can have those dogs. I mean, because they have
• 14:39
Speaker 5: a a little bit of a different temperament from what
• 14:42
Speaker 5: I understand. Hannah, you're the expert, but they have a
• 14:44
Speaker 5: little bit of a different temperament than what the average
• 14:46
  Speaker 5: dog does.
• 14:46
Speaker 9: Is that right, Yes, they very much do. I encourage
• 14:49
Speaker 9: anyone who wants to come and visit with him or
• 14:52
Speaker 9: even ask questions about him. To do your research before
• 14:57
Speaker 9: you come up and look at him or adopt him
• 15:00
Speaker 9: or anything like that, because you definitely got to know
• 15:04
Speaker 9: your breeds, especially when they are bigger breeds like that
• 15:08
Speaker 9: that need more energy, need more attention, need more care,
• 15:11
Speaker 9: stuff like that. So definitely do your research before you
• 15:13
Speaker 9: come up. I personally am not the best person to
• 15:16
Speaker 9: ask about Akida's because I personally do not know much
• 15:20
Speaker 9: about them. But we do have an animal behaviorist up
• 15:22
Speaker 9: at the shelter. Her name is Julie, who would be
• 15:25
Speaker 9: more than willing and more than happy to give you
• 15:27
Speaker 9: any information that she does know and any handouts their
• 15:30
Speaker 9: resources on how to do any training or care for them.
• 15:35
Speaker 5: So again, you can go over to my Facebook page
• 15:37
Speaker 5: Dave Allen Radio or at Dave Seviti on X and
• 15:39
Speaker 5: check out the picture of Barnabas. I know we're running
• 15:42
Speaker 5: short on time here. I did want to bring up
• 15:44
Speaker 5: the number of animals that you have there are good friends.
• 15:46
Speaker 5: I think over WWK thirteen to a story on it.
• 15:49
Speaker 5: You guys are just absolutely Hannah just overloaded with animals
• 15:54
  Speaker 5: right now.
• 15:56
Speaker 9: Yes, we absolutely are. I believe we have close to
• 16:01
Speaker 9: or at four hundred animals and our care that is
• 16:04
Speaker 9: in our shelter, in foster home all together, like that
• 16:08
  Speaker 9: is everything.
• 16:09
  Speaker 12: It is a.
• 16:10
Speaker 9: Lot because a lot of people don't think that we
• 16:13
Speaker 9: also provide the care for foster animals. A lot of
• 16:15
Speaker 9: people think that they get that on their own. But
• 16:18
Speaker 9: we do provide the care for the foster animals. So
• 16:21
Speaker 9: it's they might be in a home, but we're still
• 16:23
Speaker 9: providing that care and the food and anything that they
• 16:25
Speaker 9: may need. So definitely come up if you want to foster,
• 16:29
Speaker 9: adopt anything like that. I encourage it. I also encourage
• 16:31
Speaker 9: you to come on out and volunteer because we act
• 16:35
Speaker 9: really really need the help right now. And then of
• 16:37
Speaker 9: course we are still rocking with our veterans say Special,
• 16:40
Speaker 9: So eleven dollars for dogs over six months old or
• 16:44
Speaker 9: free if you have your military idea and can show
• 16:46
  Speaker 9: that to us.
• 16:47
Speaker 5: All right, And I was about to mention that, but
• 16:49
Speaker 5: you jumped ahead of me, and that's good because I
• 16:51
Speaker 5: appreciate you mentioned that. Because we're a little bit short
• 16:54
Speaker 5: on time that veteran stay Special is going to end.
• 16:57
Speaker 5: When did you say it ended?
• 17:00
  Speaker 9: I think today, I think that's.
• 17:02
Speaker 5: What I thought, all right, And there's more information available
• 17:04
Speaker 5: on your social media. Hannah. We'll talk to you next week.
• 17:06
Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, all right, thank you, Uh Hannah Gardener
• 17:10
Speaker 5: from the Gonnal Charles new Man Association with our Adopt
• 17:12
Speaker 5: Me please better the week. Good looking dog, mister bragg
• 17:14
  Speaker 5: oh Man.
• 17:15
Speaker 8: Japanese Akidas are beautiful dogs, but like you said, the
• 17:17
Speaker 8: would absolutely do your research. Their a particular breed. You
• 17:20
Speaker 8: got to know what you're dealing with. Not bad breed necessarily.
• 17:23
Speaker 8: They're just a little bit different. Yeah, just a little
• 17:24
Speaker 8: bit different than than your West Virginia brown dog exactly.
• 17:28
Speaker 5: Barnabas is the dog's name. He is eleven months old.
• 17:31
Speaker 5: He is housebroken, registered Japanese Akda, very laid back, loves
• 17:35
Speaker 5: other general dogs. Please do your research. Those we've been
• 17:38
Speaker 5: saying walks well on a leash, not fixed, but we'll
• 17:41
Speaker 5: be I get the picture posted at Dave Alan Radio
• 17:43
Speaker 5: on Facebook and at Dave A seventy on X the
• 17:46

• 17:48
Speaker 5: Tom Tex says it was premature to go to court
• 17:52
Speaker 5: over the playoff issue. Courts can't make decisions on issues
• 17:54
Speaker 5: that may happen. The schools couldn't make any claim that
• 17:58
Speaker 5: their seating was incorrect until the playoff schedule was known. Otherwise,
• 18:01
Speaker 5: you're asking the court to decide something that may never happen.
• 18:05
Speaker 8: I suppose, but they just again my time machine theory, though,
• 18:09
Speaker 8: Let's just go back and not make any of the
• 18:11
Speaker 8: changes in August and I think we're fine. I think
• 18:13
Speaker 8: we're playing games tonight.
• 18:14
Speaker 5: Well, hopefully we're going to be playing games next week
• 18:17
Speaker 5: in front of the Supreme Court, and.
• 18:18
Speaker 8: So hopefully and at this point, yeah, I just hope
• 18:21
Speaker 8: that we're playing games this time next week.
• 18:23
Speaker 5: Let's just get it done, guys. I hope we don't
• 18:25
Speaker 5: just have you and Chris in here talking about well
• 18:27
Speaker 5: when I was in third grade. We we're going to
• 18:29
Speaker 5: come up with something to talk. I could listen to
• 18:30
Speaker 5: Chris talk all day. Don't grent me with that time.

Speaker 5: things I want to talk to Rob about, including next Thursday.

Speaker 5: through six pm. You'll see all of our stations out

Speaker 5: mister Reel and I get together, there's always fun and
• 22:14
Speaker 5: hilarity to ensue. So we'll talk to Rob a little
• 22:18
Speaker 5: bit later on. Speaking of fun, Doctor Casey sachs Bridge
• 22:20
Speaker 5: Valley's here. How are you, Good morning, Dave.
• 22:22
Speaker 13: Great to see you.
• 22:23
Speaker 5: I'm wonderful, welcome to our new studio.
• 22:25
  Speaker 13: It's nice, Digs.
• 22:26
Speaker 5: I keep throwing this out every time. I even said
• 22:29
Speaker 5: this to Shelley Moore Capita the other day. I said,
• 22:31
Speaker 5: you know, it's kind of custom when you go to
• 22:33
Speaker 5: somebody's new home that you bring a gift, you know,
• 22:36
Speaker 5: like a fruit basket, bottle of wine.
• 22:37
Speaker 12: I never drink the coffee I bring it.
• 22:40
Speaker 5: Yes, I do. Of course I drink the But of
• 22:42
Speaker 5: course I drink the coffee. I've never turned down coffee
• 22:44
Speaker 5: in my life. Are you kidding me? But hopefully somebody
• 22:47
Speaker 5: will eventually bring us a gift. You're looking for flowers,
• 22:50
Speaker 5: how about a box of wine? Just just a box
• 22:52
Speaker 5: of wine, flowers, flowers will So tonight big night at
• 22:58
Speaker 5: the Bridge Valley doing purse raffle, Purse purse raffle.
• 23:02
  Speaker 13: Are you coming?
• 23:03
Speaker 5: Possibly crazy? You never know where I'll show up? Well,
• 23:06
  Speaker 5: is there food?
• 23:07
Speaker 13: There will be food?
• 23:08
  Speaker 5: Got food?
• 23:08
  Speaker 7: You got it?
• 23:09
Speaker 12: Looks like heavy Appetizers and Alcohol.
• 23:12
Speaker 5: Actually that was the name of my third album, Heavy
• 23:15
Speaker 5: Appetizers and Alcohol. Yeah, that's or maybe that'll be my autobiography.
• 23:18
  Speaker 13: Sounds like fun.
• 23:19
Speaker 5: So what's going on here tonight?
• 23:22
Speaker 12: So tonight we're doing a purse raffle for our foundation.
• 23:25
Speaker 12: We are raising money for our Student Opportunity Fund. One
• 23:28
Speaker 12: of the things that we've seen is that we have
• 23:30
Speaker 12: students in the community who could be one flat tire
• 23:33
Speaker 12: away from having to drop out of college, and so
• 23:34
Speaker 12: it's really important to us that we're able to help
• 23:37
Speaker 12: our students who need support for things like flat tires
• 23:40
Speaker 12: so that they can stay in school. We know that
• 23:42
Speaker 12: that's the best way to help people complete credentials and
• 23:45
Speaker 12: then get them into the workforce so that they don't
• 23:47
Speaker 12: need a Student Opportunity Fund anymore. And so we're raising
• 23:50
Speaker 12: money tonight with a purse raffle. We've gotten fifteen purses
• 23:54
Speaker 12: donated to us that are all kinds of things, from
• 23:57
Speaker 12: Kate Spade to Valentino to Louis Vuitton on and it
• 24:01
Speaker 12: looks like it'll be just a.
• 24:02
  Speaker 13: Lot of fun.
• 24:03
Speaker 5: My wife, by the way, is not going to be
• 24:05
Speaker 5: allowed to come. Well, I hope she decides that you're wrong,
• 24:08
Speaker 5: Like I could tell my wife what she's going to do. Anyway,
• 24:10
Speaker 5: if you know my wife, you'll know that's not gonna happen.
• 24:13
Speaker 5: But uh uh, but it does sound like a great time.
• 24:16
Speaker 5: Uh and uh uh and and the cause is great.
• 24:19
Speaker 5: I mean, you're you know, because I don't think sometimes people,
• 24:21
Speaker 5: you know, a lot of the a lot of students
• 24:23
Speaker 5: at various universities and the institutions of higher learning have
• 24:27
Speaker 5: had to scratch and crawl their way to get there anyway.
• 24:30
Speaker 5: And you folks at Bridge Valley, they'll do a great
• 24:32
Speaker 5: job in making it possible for pretty much any student
• 24:36
Speaker 5: of any age that wants to have an education beyond
• 24:39
Speaker 5: high school, uh to get it. But some of these,
• 24:43
Speaker 5: some of these folks really really struggle to get there.
• 24:45
Speaker 12: Yeah, we've been so fortunate in West Virginia. The state
• 24:48
Speaker 12: has some very generous financial aid for community college students.
• 24:52
Speaker 12: For a lot of our students, all the tuition and
• 24:54
Speaker 12: fees end up being paid and they're just asked to
• 24:56
Speaker 12: pay for books, and that's incredibly helpful for so many families.
• 25:00
Speaker 12: It means we're very affordable, and that's something we're very
• 25:03
Speaker 12: proud of and really want to keep being able to do.
• 25:05
Speaker 12: But that doesn't mean that stuff doesn't still happen. And
• 25:08
Speaker 12: so if you're working at a hospital full time to
• 25:11
Speaker 12: get your clinical hours and going to school full time
• 25:13
Speaker 12: and you still have kids and you might be working
• 25:15
Speaker 12: the night shift somewhere so that you can feed them,
• 25:18
Speaker 12: I mean, emergencies happen, and we've all been there, and
• 25:21
Speaker 12: so it's just really great to see our community rally
• 25:24
Speaker 12: around students and really want to do everything they can
• 25:26
Speaker 12: to help keep them in school.
• 25:27
Speaker 5: We're talking with the doctor Casey Sacksvibridge Valley. What else
• 25:30
  Speaker 5: is new?
• 25:31
Speaker 13: Oh my gosh, so many things are new.
• 25:33
Speaker 12: I think the fun stuff that's going on right now
• 25:35
Speaker 12: is that we're just getting geared up for grant season,
• 25:38
Speaker 12: so different deans are working there.
• 25:40
Speaker 5: When you said grant season, I've just had the same
• 25:42
Speaker 5: age of Elmer Fudd wabbit season.
• 25:44
Speaker 13: Yeah, it's a lot like hunting seas but for money.
• 25:47
Speaker 5: Well without all the camo.
• 25:48
Speaker 13: And deer p I mean we could wear camo.
• 25:50
Speaker 5: Okay, I've got my orange vest. It is West Virginia, right,
• 25:53
Speaker 5: it is West Virginia, So tell me about grant season.
• 25:55
Speaker 12: So grant season it means that all of the different
• 25:57
Speaker 12: deans on campus start prioritizing things that would make our
• 26:01
Speaker 12: programs better. So, for example, we've been starting a rad
• 26:05
Speaker 12: tech program in partnership with the WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals,
• 26:08
Speaker 12: which is a fabulous partnership because the students will be
• 26:11
Speaker 12: doing all their rad tech clinical training at the hospital.
• 26:15
Speaker 12: So instead of having to buy all the really expensive
• 26:18
Speaker 12: X ray equipment, for example, and have it housed then
• 26:20
Speaker 12: on campus where it only gets used a few days
• 26:23
Speaker 12: a week by students in classes will actually use the
• 26:26
Speaker 12: real equipment that they'll be working on once they get
• 26:28
Speaker 12: hired by the hospital. So it's terrific in terms of
• 26:31
Speaker 12: space use. But we've seen that there are some things
• 26:34
Speaker 12: that we want to have. We don't want the first
• 26:36
Speaker 12: time they do an X ray to be if you
• 26:38
Speaker 12: happen to fall off a ladder and break your leg.
• 26:40
Speaker 12: We want them to have that experience up front. Yeah,
• 26:42
Speaker 12: so there's some stuff that we've recognized that's expensive and
• 26:45
Speaker 12: we want to buy that isn't a regular operating expense.
• 26:48
Speaker 13: So that's when we look to grants.
• 26:50
Speaker 5: Talking again with doctor Casey Sachsebridge Valley, but Dave allen

• 27:08
Speaker 5: what you don't know can hurt you. And as we
• 27:11
Speaker 5: are starting to get into the holiday season, what does
• 27:14
Speaker 5: that mean at Bridge Valley.
• 27:15
Speaker 12: Well, for us back to student support. One of the
• 27:18
Speaker 12: things that we're doing for Thanksgiving, that's one of my
• 27:20
Speaker 12: favorite events every year, is we do something that's called
• 27:23
Speaker 12: Project Thankful, and so students who have families who need
• 27:26
Speaker 12: a little bit of extra support sign up. This year,
• 27:28
Speaker 12: we've had thirty seven different families sign up, and then
• 27:31
Speaker 12: my team adopts families and we provide all of the
• 27:34
Speaker 12: things for a Thanksgiving banquet for those families.
• 27:37
  Speaker 13: So they buy.
• 27:38
Speaker 12: Turkeys and stuffing and potatoes and put together giant baskets
• 27:41
Speaker 12: and then give them to the students who have said
• 27:42
Speaker 12: that they need a little bit of extra help.
• 27:44
Speaker 5: And that's pretty good stuff right there. I mean, and
• 27:46
Speaker 5: any of these things that we do, I've talked about
• 27:48
Speaker 5: our turkey drop that we're doing next week. None of
• 27:51
Speaker 5: these things are possible without input from the community. And
• 27:54
Speaker 5: i know you said that your staff kind of helps them,
• 27:56
Speaker 5: but I'm sure you would welcome in some outside help
• 27:58
  Speaker 5: as well.
• 27:58
Speaker 12: Talking aboutout that love, really anyone who wants to support students.
• 28:03
Speaker 12: We adopt families both at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. The
• 28:06
Speaker 12: Christmas drives become really fun because the kids, the little
• 28:11
Speaker 12: kids who are family members of our students will make
• 28:15
Speaker 12: lists and then you'll get the list of here's what
• 28:17
Speaker 12: everybody in the family's hoping for, and I know when
• 28:20
Speaker 12: I've shopped for those before. I really like being able
• 28:22
Speaker 12: to go to the toy store. I don't have too
• 28:24
Speaker 12: many little kids in my life, so it's fun to
• 28:26
Speaker 12: get to know what's the latest toy, what does somebody want?
• 28:29
Speaker 12: And then it gets delivered and it's anonymous, so I
• 28:31
Speaker 12: don't even know the family that I've bought presents for.
• 28:35
Speaker 12: But we would love for community members to come in
• 28:37
  Speaker 12: and sponsors.
• 28:37
Speaker 5: Would be a great opportunity for we have a business
• 28:40
Speaker 5: out there, it's out there, a church or whatever. I mean,
• 28:42
Speaker 5: you're welcome help from all, right.
• 28:44
Speaker 12: Absolutely, we love having community support.
• 28:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, and the things that you do out
• 28:48
Speaker 5: there at Bridge Valley are just amazing for the community.
• 28:50
Speaker 5: I mean, obviously you're all about educating minds and we
• 28:54
Speaker 5: appreciate that and hopefully getting to stay in West Virginia
• 28:58
Speaker 5: because that's one of the big things the valley does,
• 29:01
Speaker 5: but also just helping out of the community, whether I mean,
• 29:04
Speaker 5: you guys are everywhere, you guys are doing everything.
• 29:07
Speaker 12: Really everybody really is trying and I think the idea
• 29:10
Speaker 12: for us is it's not just the education, it's tying
• 29:13
Speaker 12: the education to a job. And the part of what
• 29:16
Speaker 12: helps keep people in West Virginia is that we pay
• 29:18
Speaker 12: a lot of attention to what our local employers say
• 29:20
Speaker 12: they want, and then we're trying to educate people so
• 29:23
Speaker 12: that they're ready for those jobs that actually exist here.
• 29:26
Speaker 5: And when they come to you. That's one of the
• 29:28
Speaker 5: things is I say, every time you're on here, doctors,
• 29:30
Speaker 5: anytime that an employer comes to you, it's kind of
• 29:34
Speaker 5: reversed of what it used to be. Now employers are
• 29:36
Speaker 5: coming to you and saying, Okay, here's what we need.
• 29:40
Speaker 5: We need students, we need people with this skill set.
• 29:44
Speaker 5: And then you take your curriculum and you kind of,
• 29:47
Speaker 5: in a roundabout way, you just kind of, you know,
• 29:50
Speaker 5: design it based on what the employers say that they need.
• 29:53
Speaker 12: That's right, And I would tell students the same thing.
• 29:55
Speaker 12: I was just talking to a young man in the
• 29:57
Speaker 12: green room who was saying he might be ready for retirement.
• 30:00
Speaker 12: Could he do some manufacturing in his retirement, And so
• 30:02
Speaker 12: I said, start with the employer who you want to
• 30:04
Speaker 12: go work with? And he said, what about service Wire?
• 30:06
Speaker 12: I said, great, service Wire is a fabulous employer. Go
• 30:09
Speaker 12: talk to them at service Wire, figure out what skills
• 30:12
Speaker 12: they want you to have, and then come to us
• 30:14
Speaker 12: to get those skills, and then you can go do
• 30:16
Speaker 12: that job as your retirement job. And he he was like, oh,
• 30:19
Speaker 12: that means I would think to go to school first,
• 30:22
Speaker 12: and that is where you would get the training. But
• 30:24
Speaker 12: you really want to start with the end in mind.
• 30:26
Speaker 12: And that's why talking to employers and talking about what
• 30:28
Speaker 12: is the job becomes so important.
• 30:30
Speaker 5: Well, and in any workplace, the more things you can do,
• 30:33
Speaker 5: the more valuable you are. But at that having been said,
• 30:36
Speaker 5: you don't want to I don't want to say waste
• 30:38
Speaker 5: your time. That's not the correct word, but you don't
• 30:39
Speaker 5: want to not spend your time wisely, you know, by
• 30:43
Speaker 5: studying or maybe a bunch of things that you really
• 30:46
Speaker 5: that's not what that employer needs. You can do that
• 30:48
Speaker 5: on your own, but if you're trying to get this job,
• 30:50
Speaker 5: this is what they need.
• 30:51
  Speaker 15: Right.
• 30:51
Speaker 12: You're never sorry for knowing something like I love Old
• 30:54
Speaker 12: English literature, but I definitely didn't do that in college
• 30:57
Speaker 12: because it wouldn't have helped me get a job.
• 30:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, all right, So let's get back to tonight,
• 31:03

• 34:24
Speaker 5: in Putnam County. It's a great story and we're hoping
• 34:28
Speaker 5: he'll have a happy ending. And I got some information
• 34:31
Speaker 5: about earlier this week and immediately reached out to Delicate Crasse.
• 34:34
Speaker 5: I said, you got to come on the show and
• 34:35

Speaker 5: ninety six one KWS is here, Sir Roberts, good morning,
• 34:49
Speaker 5: Good morning, sir. How are you?
• 34:50
Speaker 18: It just dawned on me. I don't know where my
• 34:52
  Speaker 18: purple heart is.
• 34:54
Speaker 5: Well, maybe did you lose it in in a railroad
• 34:57
Speaker 5: track in Putnham County, because that's where this was found.
• 34:59
  Speaker 5: I didn't.
• 35:00
Speaker 18: I mean it's boxed somewhere, but I have no idea
• 35:04
Speaker 18: where that box is what else might be in that.
• 35:08
Speaker 5: Rob, I have a ribbon that I got in the
• 35:11
Speaker 5: Social studies fair in fourth grade. Surely, to God, my friend,
• 35:15
Speaker 5: you can come up and find out where your purple
• 35:17
Speaker 5: heart is. First of all, don't call me surely okay. Yes.
• 35:20
Speaker 18: Secondly, without going too deep, too dark, too quickly, the
• 35:27
Speaker 18: closing that chapter in my life was very important to
• 35:31
Speaker 18: me when I separated from the United States Marine Corps
• 35:34
Speaker 18: in nineteen ninety six. That is not to say that
• 35:37
Speaker 18: I had a bad experience. My experience was neither good
• 35:41
Speaker 18: nor bad. There's nothing either good or bad. Only thinking
• 35:44
Speaker 18: makes it so. But at that time in my life,
• 35:46
Speaker 18: I very much needed to close that chapter, and so
• 35:50
Speaker 18: everything was packed away. The ribbon portion of my purple
• 35:55
Speaker 18: heart I know exactly where it is. It is affixed
• 35:58
Speaker 18: to the one uniform into which I can still squeeze
• 36:01
Speaker 18: because on occasion I will, I will don the dress
• 36:05
Speaker 18: blues and participate in some parades and color guard and that,
• 36:10
Speaker 18: because that's mostly what I did. Uh. So I know
• 36:12
Speaker 18: where the ribbon portion is, but I don't know the
• 36:14
Speaker 18: actual purple heart itself, the dangly one. I have no
• 36:18
Speaker 18: idea where that is. All right, well, maybe that'll be
• 36:20
Speaker 18: your next big walk. You walk to find rob Reel's
• 36:23
Speaker 18: Purple Heart walk to the Pentagon.
• 36:25
Speaker 5: It's out there. It's out there somewhere, all right. So
• 36:28
Speaker 5: speaking of this walk, I wanted to give you a
• 36:30
Speaker 5: couple of weeks to kind of catch yourself and make
• 36:32
Speaker 5: you make sure that your calves weren't still blazing. So
• 36:36
Speaker 5: for those who may not remember, because it was all
• 36:38
Speaker 5: of two three weeks ago, and we had an election
• 36:40
Speaker 5: since then, and so everything's, you know, been wrapped up
• 36:43
Speaker 5: in that. The short term memory of a goldfishes, all right.
• 36:45
Speaker 5: So we did our Radiothon for WVU Children's and you
• 36:51
Speaker 5: had told our listeners that if they got to a
• 36:53
Speaker 5: certain level, because we were a little bit lagging a
• 36:56
  Speaker 5: little bit.
• 36:56
Speaker 18: Behind, you're being kind. I shot my mouth off because
• 36:59
Speaker 18: because I was little, it was cranky. The second morning
• 37:03
Speaker 18: of our of our cares for Kids Radiothon, it was
• 37:08
Speaker 18: cold up in the Hosteler Center, that's the tenth floor
• 37:10
Speaker 18: of WVU Medicine Children's. I had not had ample caffeine yet,
• 37:14
Speaker 18: I had not slept in my own bed because sting
• 37:15
Speaker 18: in Morgantown to do the radiothon, and I just I
• 37:18
Speaker 18: looked at the day one numbers and for I don't.
• 37:21
Speaker 5: Know what possessed me, but I was. I was a
• 37:23
Speaker 5: little fired up about it.
• 37:24
Speaker 18: And I'm like, y'all, if you come through and you
• 37:27
Speaker 18: beat last year's total, because we're always trying to do better,
• 37:29
Speaker 18: sure to be last year's total. I will walk the
• 37:32
Speaker 18: check from the Charleston office to Morgantown. I will walk
• 37:36
Speaker 18: it back here. And I am I am pleasantly. I
• 37:41
Speaker 18: am humbled but not surprised that West Virginians came through
• 37:44
Speaker 18: once again for kids here and smashed last year's total.
• 37:49
Speaker 18: And so if nothing else, I'm a man of my word.
• 37:51
Speaker 18: My integrity means everything. I so respect the people who
• 37:55
Speaker 18: may have even been digging in their couch cushions and
• 37:57
Speaker 18: their cup holders to make those donations because come superstar
• 38:00
  Speaker 18: miracle makers.
• 38:01
Speaker 5: That I wanted to keep my word.
• 38:03
Speaker 18: And so I walked my happy self one hundred and
• 38:06
Speaker 18: seventy two miles from here to eleven eleven Virginia Street
• 38:09
Speaker 18: East to one Medical Plaza in Morgantown.
• 38:12
Speaker 5: And I checked in with you on the show every day.
• 38:14
Speaker 5: You were blessed, my friend, by fantastic weather and all
• 38:18
Speaker 5: of Autumn's finery in West Virginia Mountain Mama showed off.
• 38:22
Speaker 5: She gave me great weather the entire two weeks. Too hot,
• 38:25
Speaker 5: not too cold. I think you said you had a
• 38:27
Speaker 5: couple of rain drops, maybe like for an hour or so,
• 38:29
Speaker 5: even like six rain drops.
• 38:30
Speaker 18: Yeah, and I you know, hyperbole is the best thing ever,
• 38:33
Speaker 18: but I'm not exaggerating by much.
• 38:35
  Speaker 5: There was.
• 38:36
Speaker 18: There was one day where it was like drip and I,
• 38:38
Speaker 18: you know, walk another one hundred yards, drip, walk another.
• 38:42
Speaker 5: Hunt and that was it.
• 38:44
Speaker 18: Most days temperatures were either in the seventies or the
• 38:47
Speaker 18: low eighties. Very comfortable, specially dressing in layers. The colors
• 38:51
Speaker 18: were absolutely gorgeous. If you want to go back and
• 38:54
Speaker 18: just see that, even if you don't want to recap
• 38:56
Speaker 18: the whole journey, the ninety six to one KWS facebook
• 38:59
Speaker 18: page or Instagram, you can just see.
• 39:01
Speaker 5: Some of the things I got to see.
• 39:03
Speaker 18: And fall has fallen on us now, not that I'm
• 39:06
Speaker 18: complaining about, you know, leftover showers in fifty seven today,
• 39:10
Speaker 18: but that's what it's supposed to be. In mid November
• 39:14
Speaker 18: and the last two weeks of October, I got the
• 39:17
Speaker 18: classic Are we still allowed to call it Indian summer?
• 39:19
Speaker 18: I don't care the language police wants to come after me.
• 39:21
Speaker 18: It's Indian summer whatever. I think it's indigen in summer now.
• 39:26
  Speaker 5: Yes, first people's summer. I don't know. I'm not mocking
• 39:29
  Speaker 5: political correctness.
• 39:30
  Speaker 18: It's I learned certain things, certain ways, and I don't
• 39:33
Speaker 18: want to change. Just it was gorgeous weather, a wonderful
• 39:38
Speaker 18: reception when I got there on Halloween afternoon. This may
• 39:42
Speaker 18: seem silly after walking one hundred and seventy two miles.
• 39:44
Speaker 18: What did you do when you got to the hospital, Rob,
• 39:46
Speaker 18: I went on the staff costume parade with reverse trigger
• 39:51
Speaker 18: treating with the kids. Since many of them can't get
• 39:53
Speaker 18: up and get out of their beds, we would go
• 39:55
Speaker 18: to them and so we brought little trinkets and toys
• 39:58
Speaker 18: and showed off our costumes and had some fun. So, yeah,
• 40:00
Speaker 18: after walking one hundred and seventy two miles, what did
• 40:02
  Speaker 18: I do?
• 40:02
Speaker 5: I want some more? I mean, what's another you know floor?
• 40:05
  Speaker 5: What's another floor?
• 40:06
  Speaker 9: Yeah?
• 40:07
Speaker 5: Yeah, especially Rob, when you could and look, you and
• 40:11
Speaker 5: I are great friends, but you know one, what you
• 40:15
Speaker 5: did was miraculous. But let's be honest. What those kids
• 40:20
Speaker 5: are doing puts what you did to Shane's and I
• 40:23
Speaker 5: know that you will admit that.
• 40:24
Speaker 18: Yeah, oh, I'm the first to say that while I
• 40:26
Speaker 18: did a thing that is extraordinary and that not many
• 40:30
Speaker 18: folks could, would or should do that sort of thing,
• 40:33
Speaker 18: it pales in comparison to what those kids are going through,
• 40:37
Speaker 18: what their parents are going through, and what the staff
• 40:41
Speaker 18: at WVU Medicine Children's does every day putting their their
• 40:44
Speaker 18: hearts on the line for these kids.
• 40:47
  Speaker 5: So I was.
• 40:50
Speaker 18: For as tough as it may have been, I think
• 40:52
Speaker 18: I was the one most blessed by what I got
• 40:55
Speaker 18: to do. And anytime it got hard, that two hundred
• 40:59
Speaker 18: yards wretch of overhill if you know downtown Morgantown, if
• 41:02
Speaker 18: you know Campus, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
• 41:05
Speaker 18: On it it's straight up for two hundred yards, And
• 41:09
Speaker 18: as difficult as that may have been, the thing, it's
• 41:11
Speaker 18: it's nothing compared to, you know, like a six year
• 41:13
Speaker 18: old going through chemotherapy and eight year old having to
• 41:16
Speaker 18: be on a Berlin heart because you know, through just
• 41:20
Speaker 18: the way the dice rolled some weird genetic defect. You know,
• 41:24
Speaker 18: I I bristle it the word miraculous, I recoil from
• 41:28
Speaker 18: it because I'm just to do with a big mouth
• 41:31
Speaker 18: and a big microphone who gets to shout about the
• 41:33
Speaker 18: big things they do every day At WVU Medicine Children's
• 41:37
Speaker 18: I'm so, I'm talking to Robria from a sister station

• 41:58
Speaker 18: By the way, in your absence while you were gone
• 42:02
Speaker 18: for that, you know that a couple of weeks whatever,
• 42:03
Speaker 18: we we were planning what we're going to have you
• 42:05
Speaker 18: do next year. Just so you know, we had an
• 42:08
Speaker 18: informal meeting. Uh, you weren't invited, uh, And and myself
• 42:13
Speaker 18: and Crash for ninety six one KWS and Ashley and
• 42:16
Speaker 18: so we sat around and we said what can we
• 42:18
Speaker 18: make him do next year?
• 42:20
Speaker 5: And so you with me, I was married to somebody
• 42:23
Speaker 5: who had that. And with you and I, you know,
• 42:27
Speaker 5: we were always like kind of me and you and
• 42:29
Speaker 5: animal are always kind of going at each other on
• 42:30
Speaker 5: different things whatever, and uh uh, you know, I got
• 42:33
Speaker 5: all kinds of plans for you next year.
• 42:35
Speaker 18: So let's talk about meetings for a second. Okay, a
• 42:38
Speaker 18: long time ago to radio station far far away. Actually,
• 42:40
Speaker 18: at several of them, I have been in management, and
• 42:43
Speaker 18: a couple of places I have been the very tip
• 42:45
Speaker 18: top of management, where the irony of that is I
• 42:48
Speaker 18: abhorror meetings. And so not only was I having to
• 42:52
Speaker 18: do all the meetings, but they were my meetings most
• 42:55
Speaker 18: of the time. So one of the one of the
• 42:57
Speaker 18: great things about where you and I are here at
• 42:59
Speaker 18: WVRC meeting is we don't end up in a lot
• 43:01
Speaker 18: of meetings, and the few meetings we end up in
• 43:03
  Speaker 18: are very informal.
• 43:04
  Speaker 5: And impromptu sometimes.
• 43:06
Speaker 18: And one of them was yesterday. It was we got
• 43:09
Speaker 18: to talking about Christmas parades, all the holiday stuff coming
• 43:12
Speaker 18: up and kind of organizing a battle plan, and I
• 43:16
Speaker 18: particularly enjoyed we talked about the Ripley Christmas Parade, and
• 43:21
Speaker 18: I've not done that one before. I did not do
• 43:24
Speaker 18: that one last year. I did not do it the
• 43:25
Speaker 18: first time I was here. So you were kind of
• 43:28
Speaker 18: filling me and crash in on the layout of the
• 43:32
Speaker 18: Ripley Christmas Parade, and he says to me, it looks right.
• 43:37
Speaker 18: It says, well, you know we started the Krogers. Is
• 43:40
Speaker 18: we started at the Krogers and we end up the
• 43:42
Speaker 18: high school? Or is it the other way around?
• 43:43
Speaker 5: The way around? That's why it was okay, Yeah.
• 43:45
Speaker 18: So start at the high school and then you get
• 43:47
Speaker 18: to town and you end up at the Krogers. As
• 43:49
Speaker 18: if we say back home, and he looks right at me,
• 43:51
  Speaker 18: he says, I don't know, it's you know, it's about
• 43:53
Speaker 18: a mile from the high school before you ever get
• 43:54
Speaker 18: to the main road. He says to the guy who
• 43:57
Speaker 18: just walked one hundred and seventy two miles.
• 43:59
Speaker 5: I'm mainly known for my looks and not not for
• 44:03
Speaker 5: my intelligence, and I'm not known for that either, so
• 44:06
Speaker 5: pretty bless. Yeah, I was thinking about it. I actually
• 44:09
Speaker 5: talked to Mayor Raider, who's one of my favorite mayors
• 44:11
Speaker 5: in the world of I got to know her when
• 44:13
Speaker 5: I work for in state government. And Mayor Carolyn Raider,
• 44:15
Speaker 5: she's been on the show in the past week. I
• 44:16
Speaker 5: actually talked to her before the show this morning, and
• 44:18
Speaker 5: she's opening up with open arms for us uh to
• 44:22
Speaker 5: come up there. And but but it's good because I
• 44:25
Speaker 5: have open mouth. Yes, yes you do, as we've already proven.
• 44:28
Speaker 5: So it's the route's actually going to be, she tells me,
• 44:31
Speaker 5: a little bit different. It's going to be a little
• 44:32
Speaker 5: bit shorter this year. Yeah, because make we would want
• 44:36
Speaker 5: you to walk, you know, anymore than once you have
• 44:38
Speaker 5: to do. But we're looking forward to being a lot
• 44:39
Speaker 5: of these Christmas parades. I know, off the top of
• 44:41
Speaker 5: my head, I know we're doing Charleston, We're doing Saint Albans,
• 44:44
Speaker 5: We're doing Dunbar, We're doing Winfield, We're doing Hurricane uhle
• 44:48
Speaker 5: South Charles, please South Charleston.
• 44:50
  Speaker 12: Uh.
• 44:51
Speaker 5: And it will be a combination of myself of you know,
• 44:54
Speaker 5: Matt Murphy will be involved, Animal will be involved. Wood
• 44:58
Speaker 5: he will be and so Stephen Jenny will be in
• 45:00
Speaker 5: some Logan will be in. So so we're going to
• 45:01
Speaker 5: be all over with either.
• 45:04
Speaker 18: We love we love doing this, by the way, there,
• 45:06
Speaker 18: I love it as as great as these palatial new
• 45:09
Speaker 18: studios are. And I hear that y'all might be moving
• 45:14
Speaker 18: back across the breezeway here before too long. And the
• 45:17
Speaker 18: new digs and then I think I'll be in here
• 45:19
Speaker 18: or or where Matt Guitar Murphy is for a while
• 45:22
Speaker 18: when they redo mine. As much as we love these
• 45:26
Speaker 18: new studios, we love being out gripping and grin and
• 45:29
Speaker 18: kissing hands and shaking babies.
• 45:30
Speaker 5: I think that's how that goes with folks.
• 45:35
Speaker 18: If we wanted to hide in the studio and not
• 45:37
Speaker 18: do nothing and just fouring out the door, we would
• 45:41
Speaker 18: have done something else.
• 45:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, we love doing this well and sometimes and I've
• 45:44
Speaker 5: been doing this for thirty six years. You've been doing
• 45:46
Speaker 5: it for around learn around that time. You you you
• 45:50
Speaker 5: sit inside a box and you talk and you don't
• 45:53
Speaker 5: see anyone other than I have the man in the box. Well,
• 45:57
Speaker 5: I have the luxury of having more guests than what
• 46:00
Speaker 5: do you guys? You have a lot, but I normally
• 46:02
Speaker 5: have two or three a show, and so I get
• 46:03
Speaker 5: to interact with people. But you forget there are people
• 46:06
Speaker 5: actually listening to this thing.
• 46:08
Speaker 18: Yes, you know, Yeah, I'm lucky to have two or
• 46:09
Speaker 18: three a month. Ben Selango was in this morning. We
• 46:12
Speaker 18: talked about Selango Law Last the Night, which is beautiful.
• 46:14
Speaker 5: By the way, I'm going to talk about that as
• 46:16
Speaker 5: a matter of fact with you because I know you
• 46:17
  Speaker 5: were there.
• 46:18
Speaker 18: Yeah, I snuck my way into the VI preview, and
• 46:23
  Speaker 18: I don't know that I'm all that important, but I
• 46:24
Speaker 18: got to go in and look around and see the
• 46:27
Speaker 18: ice skating and the train and the carnival rides. And
• 46:31
Speaker 18: of course, if you thought it was if you thought
• 46:34
Speaker 18: it was spectacular last year and it was, there are
• 46:37
Speaker 18: it's unblinking believable. I think it's the way I put it,
• 46:41
Speaker 18: because there are it looks like infinitely more lights.
• 46:44
Speaker 5: I think they doubled the light total. I think they did. Yeah,
• 46:48
Speaker 5: that's what Silango and I had Andy Shay on the.
• 46:49
Speaker 18: Show, yes, in saying the food is good, the hot
• 46:52
Speaker 18: chocolate was fantastic, unletted of course.
• 46:56
Speaker 5: As far as you know, as far as I know, uh,
• 46:58
Speaker 5: but but yeah, it officially opened to the public tonight, Yes,
• 47:01
Speaker 5: and goes through New Year's Night, and it's brilliant.
• 47:03
  Speaker 10: Yeah.
• 47:03
Speaker 5: And I'll say this. I was watching our good friends
• 47:05
Speaker 5: over at thirteen this morning before I came into the studio,
• 47:08
Speaker 5: and they were doing a live shot as they called it,
• 47:10
Speaker 5: with Brian Hughes and also with Ben Selango County Commissioner
• 47:14
Speaker 5: and the namesake of the Selango Law Lot that he's
• 47:16
Speaker 5: law firm has that and Andy Shay who's the owner
• 47:19
Speaker 5: of the Dirty Birds. And Andy Shay was rocking this
• 47:22
Speaker 5: Rick Flair esque Santa Claus robe kind of a thing,
• 47:28
Speaker 5: and I took a picture of it and literally took
• 47:30
Speaker 5: a picture of my TV and texted it to Selango
• 47:33
Speaker 5: and to Brian Hughes and to Andy and said, I
• 47:35
Speaker 5: want someone to look at me the way that Ben
• 47:37
Speaker 5: Selango was looking at Andy's robe, because it was just
• 47:41
Speaker 5: something to be old. But all right, we got to
• 47:43
Speaker 5: take a break and I got some texts. I got
• 47:45
Speaker 5: to get to about you, sir. They found you. They
• 47:48
Speaker 5: found you. You're the court of the Courts of Value.

• 50:51
Speaker 5: so forth. To drop us off some turkeys. This is
• 50:54
Speaker 5: the whole thing. Was kind of your idea? Talk about
• 50:55
  Speaker 5: this our.
• 50:56
Speaker 18: Second annual WVRC Media drive through Turkey drop. Yes, it
• 51:00
Speaker 18: is based on the idea turkeys away from WKRP in Cincinnati,
• 51:03
Speaker 18: which was based on a real radio station doing a
• 51:05
Speaker 18: real promotion. I digress seven o'clock Thursday morning, until six
• 51:09
Speaker 18: in the evening. It's another chance to help out our
• 51:12
Speaker 18: friends and neighbors. Everybody deserves, every family to have a
• 51:15
Speaker 18: turkey on the table for Thanksgiving. So we have teamed
• 51:17
Speaker 18: up with Mountain Mission and a whole bunch of other
• 51:19
Speaker 18: folks for an opportunity for you to drop off a
• 51:23
Speaker 18: frozen turkey. You won't have to get out of your vehicle.
• 51:25
Speaker 18: We are glad to take it from you. Give it

• 51:36
  Speaker 18: my case, I live by myself, don't I don't get
• 51:38
Speaker 18: a turkey for myself. I'm probably not going to get
• 51:40
Speaker 18: a turkey for anybody else. But you know, I can
• 51:43
Speaker 18: give some folding money, which always works, and Mountain Mission
• 51:47
Speaker 18: will get it into the hands of the folks who
• 51:49
Speaker 18: need it so that everybody can hopefully have a happy holiday.
• 51:52
Speaker 5: And I know all the stations have like other sponsors
• 51:55
Speaker 5: that are helping out for us. Here at CCHS, it's
• 51:56
Speaker 5: the folks of Cosmo Express. So we want to give
• 51:58
Speaker 5: a big shout out to to them. Well, and you know,
• 52:01
Speaker 5: we saw this when we did the what did we
• 52:04
Speaker 5: call it, the sock dropper or whatever it was called
• 52:06
Speaker 5: that we did last year. That was kind of your
• 52:07
Speaker 5: idea too. And we were out there and it was cold,
• 52:10
Speaker 5: it had snowed a couple of days before. We were
• 52:12
Speaker 5: in between those two snowstorms, and the WVRC media listeners
• 52:15
Speaker 5: of your stations and all the others here in the
• 52:17
Speaker 5: building really really showed out for that.
• 52:19
Speaker 18: Again, I am humbled, but not surprised at the way
• 52:22
Speaker 18: West Virginians show up and show out to take care
• 52:25
Speaker 18: of our own. It's one of the reasons I came back, all.
• 52:27
Speaker 5: Right, Texas Dave, congratulations Rob for the great deed he completed.
