Thank you, everyone, for all the love that we've been getting over the past couple weeks. It's been ⁓ been great to see on all the socials. So appreciate everyone. Matt, we're back for episode 34. Yes, sir. Everyone just For fair warning, we say this a couple episodes and sometimes it's true, sometimes it's not true, but this was probably gonna be an action packed episode. It's gonna be short and quick or it could carry on. We sometimes like to ramble. We're long and slow. Yeah. We'll see how it goes. ⁓ we don't think there's a lot, but you know, we've proved ourselves wrong plenty of times. ⁓ Matt started with a weekend recap. And first off, I just wanna go and say hope everyone had a nice, long, extended memorial weekend. And we just want to say thank you to all the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and our country. And just an also special shout out to all the people who are serving right now, ⁓ have served or will serve for our country. We thank you. We're you're the reason we're able to do this podcast and that that we have our freedoms in this country. So thank you for that. Probably will be a little bit delayed by the this episode's dropping Thursday and that was very delayed Monday. But we had a nice long memorial weekend. ⁓ Matt and I If you see by my shirt, we did make it to the to the Bayer the Bayer Nelson, the Bayer Nelson Cup, I guess is they they call it, Matt. And ⁓ yeah, we we got tickets. We were there on Saturday. We were boots on the ground. We got to see some exceptional golf. Some people have said that the course ⁓ TPC Craig Ranch over in McKinney is fairly easy. ⁓ the scores would definitely reflect that. But we did get to see some notable golfers, Matt. We got to see Jordan Spieth. We got to see Scotty Scheffler. We got to see Brooks Kepka, Tony Final, Blades Brown, up and coming youngster. I got to see Siwoo Kim. Probably one of my favorite names on the tour. And then we got to see the eventual winner, Wyndham Clark, ⁓ who won with a score of what was he, thirty under? Absolutely ridiculous. I we did say last episode we said Be prepared for the Byron Nelson. It's gonna be a very high score or I guess engulf low scoring score it's gonna win. ⁓ it's ironic 'cause didn't they spend twenty something million dollars trying to make the course harder not to, you know. Yeah. Yeah. Well, so they did make renovations to the course, Matt. You are correct. They spent millions of dollars to make the course quote unquote harder. Now Part of reason me and Matt got tickets is because one of my one of my friends Brownie ⁓ works where he was doing like the grounds crew for the Byron Nelson, gave me a little insight. ⁓ they did have a lot of rain this week. It made the course very soft. It was they weren't able to get it like the greens as fast as they wanted to. It was just very like I don't know. Give PGA professional tour players, make it in easier conditions for ⁓ They're gonna shoot low scores. Scotty Scheffler did win with like a score last year of like 31 under and they were really trying to stop that from happening. But once again, the rain and just like the softness of the course, it makes the the those balls don't roll. They can just stop it right next to the pen. Matt, we saw we saw some exceptional shots. ⁓ did make it harder because the score of 30 under one this year. Yeah, they they spent millions of dollars for one less stroke. ⁓ so they made it happen. But Matt, I will say we said we got to see a lot of golf. We did do a lot of walking. It felt like A lot of times we were just trying to get around. Going into it, we do the steps were gonna get up there. That and possibly some of the largest crowds I've seen at a tour event following, of course, Scotty Scheffler, Jordan Speath, the hometown Dallas guys, especially when they were in contention. Like it just made the crowd that much bigger following them, especially like ⁓ the the groups Thursday, Friday was like Scotty, Wyndham Clark, and Si W or no, it was Scotty, Siwoo Kim, and Brooks Kepka. Three big names over here and they just put ⁓ all in the same group. So that that was a big following. And then Saturday it was Scotty and Wyndham Clark. And then there was someone else. I think it was Hoach? Tyler Hoage? Tom Hoach. I don't think he was in group. Or was he in Jordan Speet's group? I think it might have been in Speed's group. And then I think they were all back to back. Like it was like Jordan Speech and then Scotty. So the whole the whole everyone. Yeah. We I do have like pictures I'll include from the Bayern Nelson of me and Matt. I also took a picture of the crowd. I have pictures of Scotty Scheffler. I got some video of his swing so I can dissect it and ⁓ you know, really study the the foot shuffle so I can do it myself. Speaking about dissecting the swing, I remember on ⁓ what's that hole eleven? I guess we watched ⁓ Scotty tee off and then you were like, Yeah, let's let's move on. Even though Wendell was about to tee off. Yeah, I'm The eventual winners about the stuff. You're like, we don't need to see this. I did talk some trash. I did say, you know, I was like, Scottie Scheffler is the I care to watch, obviously, the hometown guy. And then I was like, ⁓ Wendham Clark's hitting we don't need to see Willem Clark. Turns out Winham Clark. ⁓ he also on Sunday, we didn't get to go Sunday, ⁓ but he had a score of sixty that he won it. I he was eleven under. So Yeah. I think they ni they might need to do some more renovation. Yeah, they might need to do put you know, just keep putting a couple more million dollars into it. I we did see that Craig Ranch has the Bayern Nelson through like twenty thirty under contract. So it will be back next year. Also Well so next year it's gonna be even crazier 'cause we have the PGA championship and Frisco. Right. And then it's gonna be Byron Nelson and McKinney, and then it's gonna be the colonial which I that's over at Fort Worth. Charles Schwab challenge over in Fort Worth. ⁓ so it's gonna be three weeks back to back golf. We might try next year just to get tickets all three. I mean, I there's only so much they could do to make that course harder without obviously completely redoing the course. Yeah. Now they added like extra waist sand bunkers and stuff like that. But at the end of the day, you know, it's it's just gonna be what it is. Yeah. Obvio obviously like you said, the rain played a factor into it. It's a little the green sound. But Yeah. Matt, we also did make our way into a suite at some point. in the on Saturday. And ⁓ that was fun. It was on hole seventeen. It was the par three. It's kind of they they've kind of done like what the waste management does where they try and make it like a party hole. ⁓ and man it it sure was. Anytime there was a good shot, there was a lot of cheers. Anytime there was shots that missed the greens, there was a lot of boos. ⁓ there just was a lot of booze in general in the suites. Dude, I just remember I mean obviously we saw a lot of people tee off on on hole seventeen. But whenever Scotty teed off on Saturday Everybody they shut up and they watched. There was just you you could hear a pin drop. Yeah. That's in the in the suite. I mean, everybody that's just that's the the aura that Scotty has, right? Especially here in Dallas. I mean, d forget that he's world number one. He's also just like the hometown guy that everyone's rooting for. He won it last year. ⁓ so everyone, of course, wants to wants to see him, but it was a cool experience. ⁓ you don't really get to see like all the atmosphere and stuff like that whenever you're watching it on TV, but to go to one of these events. I I will say, like, like I said, it rained a lot in Dallas this last week, so it was very muddy. If you're ever gonna go to one of these events. I'm sure we were watching on ⁓ on Sunday and it's just cool 'cause we were there on Saturday. Like you could recognize the holes and the the spots they were hitting, you know, out of. We didn't make it the front of the course. We never made it to the front nine. We only stick stick stuck around the back nine a little bit, so But ⁓ shout out to Winham Clark. I did see, I did a little research. This is his fourth tour win for the PGA. His last one came in the 2024 Pebble Beach Pro Am, where he also won with a low round of 60. And that tournament, I believe, ended up getting canceled. So he was just deemed the winner for the lowest score of 60. ⁓ and then he also won like the U.S. Open back in 2023. ⁓ and then he also won the Wells Fargo Championship in 2023. So shout out Winham Clark. You know, I'll I'll eat it. I'll I said I was excited to see Scotty. I should have been I should have stuck around a little bit longer to watch Wyndham, but glad he was able to pull it out. He's apparently Scotty for a reason, apparently. There was some weird interview where he was like the way he was gonna celebrate or something after. Also Wyndham Clark in general. Matt, I think I I asked you at some point, I said, Is that Wyndham Clark? And you're like, Yeah and I was like, That dude looks like a unit. Dude, he's a dog. He's absolutely imper like the T V does not do a judge. He he's he's fucking milk. Strong guy. See, most of these guys are are pretty, you know, sturdy. Yeah, I think that's the tiger effect where like we've just seen golfers now like actually take their health serious. It's not like it's not like your pop or whoever at the local municipal golf course. These guys are, you know, they're athletes and they're hitting some incredible shots. So shout out to the Barney Nelson Matt. Glad we finally were able to make it and ⁓ once again I I'll include the pictures from whenever we went. So next year we'll get Interviews when we're ⁓ yeah, that was one thing that was one thing I was upset. I did have like the mini microphones and I left them in my bag in the in the in the vehicle, so it was a little unlucky there. ⁓ I didn't want to walk all the way back and get ⁓ but we will get interviews at the next one we go to. That could have been probably one of the brodies of the week there, you know. like I said, it was a little bit of a slow news week. ⁓ there was a lot of sports that happened this weekend, but once again we were kind of out and about. ⁓ one of the games I did catch, and this leads me into my Brody of the Week, was Texas Tech taking on Florida in the softball super regionals. ⁓ my Brody of the Week goes to Mia Williams, second baseman for Texas Tech. And you might be like, Mia Williams, is she related to someone? You'd be correct. Her dad is Jason Williams, the NBA superstar, and ⁓ who also he played at Florida. So it's funny that she was then at Texas Tech. Playing against Florida. She also played at Te ⁓ Florida as well and transferred to Texas Tech, which might lead into why she's part of my Brody of the Week. She was hit by a pitch five times in this series. In the three-game series, she was hit five times. Might be like, that's a lot. It is a lot. She throughout the whole regular softball season, she was only hit four times. She had the Barry Bonds treatment. She got the Barry Bonds treatment. And ⁓ yeah, the fifth pitch. Or the fifth time that she got hit was the first pitch of the game three of the super regionals. And that led to quote unquote what the announcers called benches almost clearing. The benches didn't almost clear. ⁓ I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever seen that in softball. ⁓ maybe in like men's slow pitch, but never in like women's fast pitch. ⁓ and it also had some choice words from the Texas Tech dugout. They were l yelling some ⁓ some inspiring messages to the Florida pitcher that That ended up hitting Mia Williams. ⁓ and the the umpires did have to say, like, yeah, yo guys, calm it down or you were gonna have to start ejecting people from the game. The game also had like a rain or it was like a lightning delay going on. And then eventually, ⁓ Texas Tech the weather w let up and Texas Tech was able to win on a run rule of sixteen to seven in the fifth inning. So it was absolutely it was a fun game to watch. ⁓ A lot of the storylines that came out of this, Florida after the win, or Florida after the loss, refused to shake hands with Texas Tech. ⁓ I think they did line up and then they just kind of walked in the dugout after like thanking their fans or something. Kinda soft, you know, not shaking hands, but you know what? Drama's good for the sport. ⁓ the coach for Florida, head coach Tim Walton, also was ejected in the bottom of the fifth inning before they were run ruled. He was arguing balls and strikes. And Jason Williams came out and said he basically did not want to shake ⁓ Mia Williams' hand. That's why he wanted to get ejected. ⁓ Mia also finished, I believe for the series she was three for seven. a lot of those were just hit by pitches, so they don't really count towards her average. But she did drive in five runs and had two home runs against her former team. So absolutely electric stuff there being able to show out. And once again, Texas Tech pulled through. I talked about them last week. I think it was my Brody of the Week last week for their comeback win against Ole Miss. Now they're my Brody of the week for, you know, dealing with the drama in Florida and heading on to the College World Series. So hopefully next week they'll be your Brody for wedding the entire deal. I am nervous. The first game they are playing Mississippi State who just upset Oklahoma and it seems like Mississippi State they have ⁓ broccoli as their good luck charm. They got broccoli all over the dugout, so apparently Like the vegetable? Yeah, they they hang broccoli. ⁓ okay. ⁓ it's something to do with in their regional tournament, they had there was some guy that was holding up broccoli and he s deemed it as good a good luck broccoli or something like that. And so the they've really honed in on that. And that's scary. When a team gets an obscure mascot like that or any type of mojo, they're a dangerous team. And so I think Texas Tech have to be ready to eat some broccoli. Maybe Cavs fans should have held up broccoli. Maybe the Cavs fans should have held up broccoli. Yeah, Texas Tech is playing Mississippi. ⁓ this podcast drops Thursday. They're playing actually probably right now as you're listening to this podcast. This podcast and then catch up on the game. ⁓ but it's an eleven AM start. So should be exceptional stuff there. Elite James though. NFL Hall of Famer. NFL Hall of Famer. NBA Hall of Famer. ⁓ that Jason Williams? Yeah. Who am I thinking of? ⁓ who's the Dolphins DN? Jason ⁓ Jason Taylor. Jason. No. I didn't want to talk about white chocolate. Yeah. White chocolate. Okay. He actually No wonder she's a dog. Yeah. He actually like apparently like one of his other daughters was there and she got like something thrown at her by one of the Florida fans. He said it like some he said it was some old lady. And so like he had like he got like ejected from the he got ejected from the stadium, then eventually was let back in. ⁓ and then in like an interview he's like, I got nothing against that old lady. She don't got much time left. It was a crazy. That sounds like this one. Yeah. And he's like, I don't hold anything against Florida. I'd be the same way if my butt was getting kicked. That's what he said. Yeah. You remember that clip? Apparently he used to coach like ⁓ AEU or some some level of basketball or something, and Anthony Edwards was on his team. ⁓ he sent out the he sent out the starting five, and the the commissioner of the entire tournament like taps him on the shoulder. He's like, Why isn't this guy in? He's like, ⁓ I don't know, who is he? He's like, he's the number one player the country. He's like, time out. Ant, get in. And Ant's like Ant's like, who do you want me to guard, coach? He's like, Whoever you want. Yeah. I've seen that clip. Yeah. Jason Williams, absolutely I didn't realize that's a lez that's a legendary clip. I did not realize this was his daughter until all this drama happened with Florida. ⁓ and apparently I'm glad he's on our side and he's ready. He he's ready to root on the Raiders in the College World Series, ready to see what happens. So shout out. Jesus Williams, welcome to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. White chocolate. White chocolate. Speaking of another Brodie of the Week, I think I'm the only one that had Brody of the Week. Matt, you didn't have any right. No, I didn't want to force it. If it's not there, I'm not, you know. Well, this one might be forced. This one might be forced, yeah. This one, like I said. ⁓ Brody of the Week. I'm, you know. Okay. Brody of the week, it's myself. I ⁓ I've chosen myself. Only for the reason of I have now signed up for my third marathon. Officially signed up. ⁓ started the training today actually, went and did my first run of the program. And ⁓ yeah, we're looking we're looking good. It's gonna be in December. Matt's gonna be there to support me. Shut up. Big shine. I did ⁓ I might be right I might be running next to you. Come on. Come do that. December. In December. I did ⁓ I had to choose my my the You have to when you do your bib, you have to choose like what you want on there. I put Brody Pod. So I'm gonna be supporting Brody Pod on the bid. So if anyone is gonna be out there December thirteenth, Dallas Marathon, come find me. I'll be the one that's struggling for oxygen. No. This will also be like my final marathon. This is I'm doing a three P I've done it the last two years. This will be my third year, and then I'm gonna do half marathons after this. It's a good plug. Yeah. We'll have the fi first official merch. Actually we do have some merch that we're working on, working on some hats. ⁓ that is my goal to get that done and get those start being able to give out. So be on the lookout for Brody Pot hats. But the next piece of merch will be my bib. So we'll see. We're gonna auction that off actually. Yeah, we'll auction it off. Anybody wants a bib that's sweat filled and torn and been through twenty six miles. Well with that we can get into our next segment. Matt, we'll come back and we'll do some of the top headlines going around That we found from the week and that we are looking forward to. All right, we're back to talk about some of the top headlines going around the sports world right now. Starting off with a bomb show that was kind of dropped. Actually, today as we're recording this episode, Brendan Sorsby, quarterback, maybe for Texas Tech. ⁓ the I say maybe because the NCAA has denied Texas Tech quarterback Brennan Sorsby's request for reinstatement for eligibility for the twenty twenty six season per ESPN's Pete Thamel. Soresby has just completed his 35-day inpatient rehab for his gambling addiction at Algamous in Goodyear, Arizona. Great name for a town. ⁓ and so it's kind of led him to he now has like a court date in 10-ish days, kind of for an injunction. It's at a Lubbock court. Basically, I think to stop the ruling from the NCAA. And ⁓ if that is denied, he would then. look to go to the N NFL's supplemental draft to be drafted this year and could possibly be on an NFL team ⁓ this upcoming season. ⁓ it's kind of crazy that this whole storyline's been going on. ⁓ Some people are some people by some people I mean Matt have said that this could be a waste of money for Texas Tech. But it's it's kind of it's kind of a craziness has been going on and this does kind of hold up with the NCA's precedent of like if there's any kind of gambling going on with the student athlete, they lose all their eligibility. They're no longer eligible to play college sports. ⁓ it also has come out that he was gambling on I think they said thousands of games I saw in the article. and he did bet on Indiana and he'll he he he never bet on games that he was playing in and he did ⁓ never bet on games that he was playing in and he never bet on his team to lose. So it's kind of just a interesting like I'm kind of at a loss for words because like once again I've said I think I said last episode, Texas Tech's my album matter. I'm a little biased. ⁓ but it's just like a crazy thing going on. Matt, did you have anything? Yeah, I mean like we all gamble on sports, most of us. I actually don't. I know you don't, but I don't either. You're right. But ⁓ I mean Sourceby I mean, he was betting on quote unquote Turkish bas the Turkish Basketball League, Romanian soccer games, obscure doubles tennis matches, and Nathan's famous hot dog eating contest. Okay. I mean we've all bet on Nathan's hot dog eating contest. I mean, yeah, that's fair, but Turkish basketball in Romanian soccer, we That he needed I think he might have needed a little ⁓ Wake up, call. I wanna know what the rehab process was like. Not to make jokes of it, but I do need to make light of the situation. Take his phone away. I don't know how you rehab that. Did he just have to sit there and watch Turkish basketball basketball games and just like enjoy the love of the game, just like not bet on it? Shit front row at a W NBA game and not bet. Had to watch balls and strikes at at baseball games. Wasn't even like ⁓ L B it was like ⁓ the minor leagues. And you just had to sit there and Just just for the love of the game. I don't know. I mean that's Matt, maybe we should put you through the process and we could find out what it's like. Yeah, I mean I'm you know, I do bet I bet shut up, prize picks. Open to a sponsorship. I don't bet like that. I I think I'm kinda bad with it. Not bad in the sense I bet badly. You lose a lot. But I do. But also I don't bet like that much. Like he was betting thous he was making thousands of bets. Yeah. So obviously he was spending more than thousands of dollars. I'd like to know what that's tens tens, maybe hundreds of thousands. Yeah, and I'd like to know what like that thousands of bets. That's gotta be over the course of years. There's no way that's like in a year or a month. Like that would be insane. But if you're then on that much. If they took away his eligibility, maybe. But also I know NFL wise, Calvin Ridley was betting on sports when he was on the Falcons, I believe. And they like banned him for a season or like took his whole season away from him. Even though he didn't bet on his team or anything like that, they still just took a whole year of eligibility from him, and that's at the NFL level. So Yeah, it would it's kind of it blows my mind that like When you watch all these like I mean, we saw it during the the ⁓ the playoffs. Like you see all these gambling websites on there. Like it's something that is very pushed in today's age of like I mean, we c we're watching the Spurs and OKC game five right now. And then there's probably gonna be some gambling ad of some type of deal where you play some of Yeah, it's become such a part of today's age that it is pushed out there a lot and it and it is very easy to get your hands on. Like it's it's very like even if you live in a state where quote unquote sports gambling isn't legal, you can still do it. Not saying you should. Don't don't come at me for that, but I mean I could see where they don't want the players betting. Yeah. Like that makes sense. But there does have to be 'cause then regard on their team or not. Yeah. Makes sense, I guess. But I he's already like a an NAL athlete. I don't see why he would be betting. His money. Yeah. And I get it like for you gotta keep up the game 'cause like say this was still going on. If Texas I'm trying to try to play devil's advocate here of just like take my sports fandom out of it. If he was continuing to do this and he was playing at Texas Tech this next season, obviously I would want him to bet on his team to win. But if say for some reason he was betting on his team to lose and then he, you know, maybe there's a first down to win the game or something, he doesn't get it because he wants to make sure his bet hits. If he's betting like thousands of dollars. I think there was something with like, ⁓ I don't want to I don't want to go I don't want to go down a rabbit hole because I'm not exactly sure, but there was something with like college baseball a couple years ago where it was kind of something similar, but it was like they were betting on like my league players that had played in their program or something like that. ⁓ I don't want to like misspeak and yeah g get in our own Brody Pie lawsuit, but there's something with like ⁓ in college basketball Like D two programs that were betting against themselves. Yeah. You normally say Yeah. Well that was blatant yeah, that was blatant like Yeah. But I can see why they want to just like nip it in the butt, I guess. Yeah, they and they kinda have to set the example. Especially when you're talking about a like a the best transfer portal quarterback and just got paid, what was it, five million dollars to come to Texas Tech? Like that. Yeah, it was some ridiculous amount of money. ⁓ But I don't know. I've always refrained from sports gambling just because there's no way to know, right? It's not like I mean, you could compare it to the stock market where stocks just go up and down and there's no rhyme or reason to it. ⁓ I've always looked at sports the same way of like, yeah, you could say like this guy is supposed to average this many points, this team's supposed to win this game. Yeah. But then you gotta tell you, I like to take in like the the heart factor, like we're gonna talk about it here in a little bit, but Matt, we just talked about the Rangers getting no hit. ⁓ it by the Astros who have put one of the worst bullpins out there. ⁓ or and then now that they were watching the game they're winning eight zero. Yeah. It's there's no rhyme or reason of what happens in sports. Yeah, trust me, I've been burned a lot more than I have won off of a sports gambling. Yeah. But I do understand when you win it's it's kinda a little high that you ride. Yeah. But if I'm an N I L athlete, I'm not gonna bet on anything. Yeah. Besides himself. I didn't realize you could just lose your whole eligibility like that. And no, granted, he was a fifty year, he only had one year left, but Granted, like maybe this stuff happened before he was this good at you know, Cincinnati last year, and maybe he Yeah, when he was a backup, maybe at Cincinnati or wherever he was, I don't know. Yeah. He was just betting on stuff. Maybe that's just all caught up to him. Yeah. I did see a lot of the Big Twelve fan bases are excited about this. They're happy about it. I saw, you know, people saying, like, good, there's no place for this. ⁓ it's a lot of like BYU Cougars, you know, the Utah Sprise. People that were gonna have to play tech. They want ⁓ out. ⁓ I will say Texas Tech's got completely screwed. They still have some solid quarterbacks on the roster. Will Hammond, dude. Yeah, they got Will Hammond. He is coming off a significant leg injury. I think it was his ACL that he tore last year, so he wouldn't even be good to go till like I would think till at least week two. ⁓ but they also have Mitch Griffiths who came in, played a couple games as well. Solid solid player. I mean, once again, Texas Tech has enough talent around these quarterbacks to where, ⁓ especially in the first couple weeks, they'll be good. It's once you get into later in the season, you start playing some, you know, real good Big Twelve talent and possibly trying to make a run at the college football playoffs. Like you're g you're gonna wish you had Soresby around. So I'm I'm hopeful. That they're able to get this figured out. I did see his lawyers and the ⁓ papers that they send in for the injunction are asking for like a two game suspension. So it's almost like they're saying, like, yeah, he's in the wrong, give him just a slap on the wrist for two games. I don't know. I you kinda have to set the example. Like if it's as serious as it sounds like, then you do kinda have to suspend him for the season. That hurts me because once again, Texas Tech's my school, it's my alma mater. I want them to be good, but also like you gotta hold the integrity of the game. Also like I what they have to go off on is I mean, Calvin Ridley, like I said earlier, ⁓ a whole year suspension and then NFL. Yeah. I know that's obviously a bigger league than N C double A, but not by much. And C but N C double A is huge now. ⁓ I I guess they're crack they're cracking down on this more than more so than other things. Yeah. I did see that the Texas Tech President ⁓ Lawrence Skuvenek has come out and has publicly backed Sorzby and his desire to play for the Raiders in the upcoming season, even with the complex situation as he called it. ⁓ you know, he says we we believe that given the facts and the context of Brendan Swarsby's case, the NCAA's ruling should be reversed or modified. As a generation of college athletes face legalization and rapid prolifer proliferation of sports betting in our country, gambling addiction is rising to the point. Of epidemic among college age men in particular. So I wonder why. Yeah. I mean I push it. They push it at every every chance they get. Yeah. And not saying like, you know, it's the gambling company's fault, but it is something that is highly romanticized of finding a big bet and hitting and winning and living the life of luxury from the wins. But no one ever talks about there's a lot of losses. There's a reason why Vegas is able to keep the lights up. Just not a lot of people win. Absolutely. But if there's anyone out there starting with a gambling addiction, please, please tell someone. Please you're only one beta way. No no, you're not not one. Put it down. Put the phone down and stop. It's like the meme with the guy excavating in the mine. In the diamonds. You're about to hit the diamonds. Don't quit. No, you should quit. Cut your losses. All right. I think I think we danced around that situation good. Moving into an Shut up. Shut up, DraftKings. Shut up. No, no, probably shouldn't shout them out right now. ⁓ speaking of our next thing here, I need to make a public apology. And so do a lot of analysts out there. Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. Specifically, I need to apologize to Jalen Brunson. This here. And this apology is a no matter what happens in the NBA Finals, they are gonna be fighting an uphill battle, but I was someone I'm gonna look in the camera here. I was someone whenever the Mavericks everyone remembers, was it the twenty twenty three Mavericks we had Luca and Jalen Brunson? Yeah, that was the yeah, that was the year we played the Jazz in the playoffs. And I think Brunson's single hand is handily won us that series. No, because Luca was hurt. Yeah, Luca was out for those first few games. Yep. ⁓ Whenever he came up was it I think it was contract negotiations or something, and he was becoming a free agent. He was, you know, there was that whole, you know, talk about illegal recruiting to the Knicks kind of kind of crossed some lines. His dad was in the front office or something. His dad was in the front office. ⁓ I was someone that was like, you know what, we don't need Jalen Brunson. He's you know, he's too short. He you know, what's he gonna do? He's he's not gonna Yeah, he won us that series against the Jazz, but he wouldn't be able to get us to a finals. ⁓ I'm I'm completely stepped back. You know, Jalen Brunson, I'm gonna say I didn't say I think I said at the time he wasn't like a one A. He wasn't he couldn't be your guy. A lot of analysts said that he couldn't be the guy. I would put the hand up. He can most certainly be that guy. Definitely is that guy. Don't get me wrong, the Knicks have a lot of talent around him, but just from what I've seen in this playoff run, he's kind of become the the love of New York. Everyone is New York wouldn't trade him for anything now. They would that that's their guy and by God, he's a good basketball player. He's not a good he's a great basketball player. And ⁓ I am now sad that the Mavericks have ever let him go. But I'm rooting for him. I I w I would love to see Jalen Brunson hoist the ⁓ the NBA Finals trophy, possibly NBA Finals MVP. He's so good that he's getting compared against Luca. What do you mean compared against Luka? I apparently Max Kellerman and Antonio Daniels ⁓ believes that he would be a better choice than Luca if the goal is to win a championship. Quote unquote, Max Clarman, I would say Brunson over Luca. The reason I'd say that is because I've seen Brunson play with and without the ball. I haven't seen Luca as talented as he is. Haven't seen him play where his usage is low. And I will com combat that with saying Brunson plays with the ball more than Luca does average percentage wise. Yeah. But that's not a knock on Brunson. I love Brunson. But I obviously they're gonna get compared because they were on the same team and now they're leading, you know, one's on the Lakers leading that team, one's on the Knicks leading that team to the finals. Luca led the Mavs to the finals, but now he's on the Lakers. So they're they used to be on the same team, but now they're two of the best point guards in the league. They do. Two separate sides of the country. Two separate tides of the NBA conferences. Yeah. They were on the They could potentially meet each other. They could potentially meet each other. ⁓ later on down the line, but Yeah, and you bring up a good point of like people are comparing Brunson and Luca. I know when they were on the Mavs, a lot of the ball traffic did go through Luca, and we didn't get to see really Brunson as like the number one option. He was kind of the he was the Robin of Luca. And don't get me wrong, I thought he was like one of the best robins in the league. I didn't know he could go be his own Batman though. And that's what I've seen with the Knicks. Like I've seen like they've built that team around him. And I'm like, okay, this guy, I was wrong. He could definitely be a one A, you know, if you need a certified, bona fide superstar. And that's what he's become over in New York. ⁓ I did see that the Mavs had Christoph Brzezingis, Luca, and Brunson. And Brzingis went on, we all know, twenty twenty four NBA championship. ⁓ beat Luca in the finals. I don't know if he beat Luca in the finals. It was kind of that whole Celtics team. He kind of hit his hit his way with the Mavs in the finals. Luca made it, you know, once he made it to the finals, and then now Jalen Brunson gets a chance to go to the finals. And it's just crazy to think all those guys were on Dallas and they ended up blowing up the team like that. So shout out Nico Harrison. Yeah, shout out shout out Nico. He did a great job building the team. They did a really good job blowing it up too. Honestly, thank God, dude. Yeah. Jalen is flourishing. Luca is still making first team all all NBA team, so Yeah. I think it was just we saw the ⁓ I guess this kind of leads us into our Cavs Knicks recap, which we can talk a little bit about, but it was kind of just ⁓ it was a four game sweep by the Knicks. Obviously they were the better team of the Cavs. The Cavs did say they were winning some games based on expected points, which was just a crazy statement to say. The co the head catch. Yeah, he's like, We're up in the series two one on expected points. It's like, no, buddy, you're down three ⁓ Got extended, by the way. What? Got extended. The coach for the Cavs? Yeah. It's unlucky, dude. You say like by advanced analytics, we won this was like game after game like four or five, whatever. I I think it was after game five. He was like we won two of those games based on advanced analytics. It's a good thing he got extended because I saw this today. The team that has lost the Eastern Conference Finals, the next year they go on to win the conference finals and go to the finals. It goes all way back to twenty twenty two when the Boston Celtics defeated the Heat. The Heat the next year in twenty twenty three defeated the Boston Celtics to go to the finals. ⁓ and then the Celtics then beat the Pacers in twenty twenty four, and then the Pacers then beat the Knicks in twenty twenty five, and now the Knicks have beat the Cavs. So next year the Cavs, probably with LeBron, will go to the finals. Yeah, probably with LeBron. Yeah. I they're gonna have James Harden because they're Expected to extend him long term. I don't I'm not sure what long term means for a thirty-five year old, thirty-six year old player, but probably like three years. Two, three years, I guess. Extend him till he's forty. Good. Obviously he's like I said, last podcast or whatever, notorious playoff dropper. Unfortunately, he proved that. He had more turnovers than fugals made and two. At least two of those those games against the Knicks. Well the game against the Knicks, we're recording this on Tuesday, the game last night was such a blowout, I didn't even care to go check the box score. I think the Knicks won by what was it, fifty points or something? Thirty seven, I think. Thirty seven. But they were up fifty at some point. Might as well have been fifty. No. But and I will say the the The Knicks seem like they've gotten hot at the right time. I know at the start of the playoffs they were down, what was it, two one to the Hawks. And since then they've rattled off eleven games in a row. Yeah. I mean, they're usually the hottest team in the NBA. Yeah. And I think we a couple podcasts ago, we said the winners coming out of the West, no matter what, whether it's the Spurs and the Thunder. Now I'm thinking this Knicks team can actually make a little bit of a a little bit of a ripple in the in the tide there. But they could be a dangerous team. Now Depends on who they end up playing, whether it's the seven foot four alien, ⁓ or it's gonna be the the flopper the famous flopper himself. They can win one or two. Yeah. But we are gonna be doing an NBA finals preview next episode. We're gonna have a Nick's diehard fan on. We're gonna get his thoughts on the finals of what he's expecting. We'll also know who's gonna be in the finals. ⁓ game one actually starts next Wednesday, June third, so That episode will have our NBA Finals preview on there. I know you say diehard, which he is, but also he's a very knowledgeable young man when it comes to ⁓ NBA talk. Yeah. We don't want to hype him up. We don't want to give away too much. So I know, and it's not just like he's gonna be super biased Nick's, but he knows. He's he's gonna be he's gonna be ras rational. Yeah. No, I think he's gonna be full on. He might be. Yeah. But he it He'll give more insight than we probably could. But the Knicks are gonna have a lot of rest going into it now. And like we just said, the Spurs and Thunder, dad they're in game five right now as we're recording this. So they got at least two more. Well, they I guess maybe could be one more after this after this episode, but That's true. Either way, they're gonna not gonna have as much rest as the Knicks. Now we saw the Knicks last in this Cavs game or the Cavs series, they kinda in the first game, the first half struggled a little bit with that rust. They're gonna be well rested going into it. So this might be the Knicks' best chance to get her finals. All right, that was good. What else did we have? Remember. ⁓ I I did see this. ⁓ Matt, you said it. ⁓ you had it in the notes here. But the Knicks are making the finals for the first time since nineteen ninety nine. ⁓ twenty seven years. ⁓ Jalen Brunson will make his finals with the Knicks. ⁓ but no one Yeah, his finals debut. But also his father was on that Knicks team in nineteen ninety nine that made it. Rick Brunson. So like father like son. Now his dad didn't win it in nineteen ninety nine, but maybe Jalen Brunson can rewrite the history. Matt, what's the next thing you had here on the list for the top headlines? Explosion of talent. ⁓ I just have I mean NFL is just obviously like died down as much as it could possibly be right now. Kind of. OTA's just started. I know but Who cares? I just saw Dak Prescott throw a ball into a net, and I'm like, here we go. Yeah. Let's go, Cowboys. This is kind of the least high NFL will be all year. But Derwin James signs a three year $76.6 million extension with the Chargers, ⁓ as he should. One of the best safeties ⁓ safeties in the league. He becomes the second highest paid safety for the second time in his career. It's the second time he's been the second highest. Correct. What a stat. He got when he got his first ⁓ contract, highest paid ever. Now, I guess the highest paid for the second time. So, the same guy that's been the highest paid? You know, I assume so. Who would get I mean, I guess until Cal Hamilton gets his extension or his new contract, but yeah, I just thought that was a fun little tip. I assume. I mean who else? Safety safeties don't get paid that much unless they're like cream to the crop. ⁓ this says he's the highest paid safety in the NFL right now. Yeah. Did I explain that correctly? Well, you said he was the second highest paid for the second time. Yes. So who is the highest paid? He's the second he's the highest paid safety for the second time in his career. ⁓ I thought you okay, I missed What did I say? You said he was the second highest paid safety for the second time. Like there was another guy that's been paid higher than twice. I explained it incorrectly then. He's for the second time in his career, he's the highest paid safety. ⁓ okay. That means he's been the highest paid safety twice now with this new extension. And yeah, Kyle Hamilton is second right behind him. Okay. So tell Kyle Hamilton, then he will be the second highest paid. Yeah. Derwin is getting north of twenty a year now. Yeah. Shout out Derwin. Good job for you, man. Yeah, it's just under 20. ⁓ moving on here. like we said, this might be a little shorter episode. That was kind of the top headlines. But I do have a little bit of NHL going on here. And it's not gonna, don't get me wrong, this isn't gonna be super in-depth NHL. I just thought it was shocking. ⁓ the Vegas Golden Knights are currently have a 3-0 series lead over the Colorado Avalanche. And a lot of people thought. That Colorado was just gonna come in and that they were on their way to the cup. But turns out I guess it's not shocking depending on who you asked, 'cause apparently I guess Vegas has had Colorado's number in the playoffs. ⁓ but game four is going on actually tonight as we're recording this episode as well. I'll go ahead and say it. This might come back to bite me. Shout out to the Golden Knights for making it to the Stanley Cup finals. If they end up losing, that's gonna be crazy. That we're gonna test this Brody Pod curse. Be a generational reverse sweep. Yeah. And then ⁓ shout out to the Carolina Hurricanes who currently have a two one series lead over the Montreal Canadiens. I'm rooting for the hurricanes and that just 'cause I want the American team to win. ⁓ it's been I think like twenty something years, maybe even longer than that, since the Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup. And let's keep it that way. Let's get ⁓ knocked out. Damn nice. Yeah. Let's we showed ⁓ what's up in the Olympics. Time to show ⁓ what's up for the NHL. Granted, what's kind of skewed data 'cause there's way more teams in the Americas, but Whatever. Speaking of curses, ⁓ MLB regular season, some news. Hand up. It struck again. Brody pod curse strikes again. Public apology to the Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs. Since making them my Brody of the week, the Texas Rangers are five and eight and they've lost four in a row. And now we mentioned that they are currently up on the Astros, so they could turn that around, but they've been very injury plagued. And whenever I talked about them as my Brody Brody of the Week, They were one game away from first place in the AL West. And now they're two and a half games back, and they've bit lost to some pretty bad teams. They lost to the Angels. Yeah, they lost to the Astros, and I think they ended up winning the Diamondback series, but that was very close. ⁓ and like we said, ⁓ Monday night, Astros had a combined no hitter with the bullpen and a blowout nine to zero victory over the Rangers. So but right now the Rangers Rangers are up. I forget who that pitcher was for the Astros the starter, but he I think he had like a close to a six. Close to a six Era. It was was it Emai? Is that his name? ⁓ yes, an Asian fella. Close to a I think at five point seven seven ERA. Now it's lower than that, obviously. And it seems like the Astros are getting pretty hot, so. Yeah, apparently. I and then you mentioned earlier we're we were up eight zero. Yeah. It's down nine four. It is now nine four, so I think we should stop talking about them, perhaps. Yeah. I'm I just need to start talking about the Astros. Great job, Astros. ⁓ and also apology to the Chicago Cubs, who, since I've talked about them, have done even worse than the Rangers. They are two and eleven and they when I talked about ⁓ they were on a ten game winning streak. They have now lost nine in a row. So I've done it again. PCA, ⁓ Pete Crow Armstrong, one of their star players, was suspended. For I can't remember how many games, but was for yelling at a fan ⁓ in the White Sox series. ⁓ they've also been injury plagued. When I talked about ⁓ they were in first place, the NL Central. They've now fallen back to third place, and they have not won a series in two weeks. Sorry. Maybe I can fix it for ⁓ I just I feel like I need to talk about our Brody Pod curses 'cause it seems like whoever we talk about. I think we do. And it honestly it goes even farther than that. Like The people that I bet on, like my coworkers will know this. When I bet on a guy, it's just the worst outing he's ever had, regardless of the sport. He turns into like me out there. You should start having pod segment. We have to. We have to. Whoever we talk about, please bet on the other the person they're playing against or going to play against. Yep. Hand up accountability. At least, you know, at least we recognize it. Yeah, that's the first step. Yeah. Shout out Brennan Swarsby. That's the first step. That's the first step, dude. Getting in some other sports news. ⁓ this is just something I've been seeing all over TikTok, Instagram going around. ⁓ the enhanced games, which if you don't know what the enhanced games were, it's basically like the Olympics, but they let the athletes do whatever drugs that they want, ⁓ peptides, steroids. ⁓ it's backed by a couple like billionaires and just Some shady money a little bit, but I mean, dude, if I was a billionaire, this would be the exact thing I would invest in. Yeah. Well, I don't know if you would want to invest in it because there was they were giving out like it was like million dollar prize packages for any world record that was broken in the in the enhanced games. ⁓ there was only one that was broken. And it was from one of the top swimmers, and people are saying there's a controversy that he didn't even hit the wall at the right time and that they just they clocked it early to because they wanted a world record. ⁓ but out of all the events, the track and field events, the swimming events, there was only the one world record. Now there was a deadlift world record I saw going on, but there was people saying like apparently the floor was wood, so their feet were slipping, or else there would have been another world record. ⁓ apparently just like the the streaming of it and just the way that it was handled, people said it was very poorly ran. ⁓ and they said like I can't see this coming back next year. I think this is gonna be something that comes back next year and they're gonna learn from their mistakes and it's gonna be something that maybe get gets a little bit better. ⁓ refined. Yeah, refined. They also said that these athletes that were on like the steroids and all the ⁓ the peptides and whatever else, they'd only been doing it for like six months. So I think it's gonna be something now where it's like we're gonna see maybe a full year of training on all this stuff. ⁓ I've always like, yeah, I want to see like who can jump the highest. I want to see like what the maximum potential of, you know, the human body is. I will say, like, a lot of the people that did win these events weren't even the athletes that were enhanced. They were just the normal athletes. Like the guy that won the sprinting, I think his name was Curly. He was like one of the non enhanced athletes. He won. ⁓ and they were already paying they were paying bags for whoever won. It it was a million dollars, I think, if you broke a record, but I think if you got first place in an event, it was still two hundred and fifty thousand. So I think a lot of athletes are gonna see that money and they're like, Okay, I wanna try this now. Now that I've seen the first one go down. So I think it's gonna something that we said it's gonna get enhanced. ⁓ it's gonna be here to stay probably, especially as long as they got the money backing. It might be something kinda like how Liv was. Like as long as the money's back in it, they'll keep doing it. ⁓ Yes. Strongman. Strongman. Lifted over a thousand pounds on a deadlift. Yep. Imagine him on steroids. Well, I think he I mean i he probably is, but like legally funded, like he can do this without any repercussions. I mean it's a million dollars, you break a record, so I don't see why athletes wouldn't want to do that. DK Metcalf on Stanworth. You're t you're talking about the absolute peak of athleticism. ⁓ Absolutely. Put DK Metcalf on Strouds, he's gonna have a sixty inch vertical. But that's the thing. I think they didn't have a lot of those peak guys doing this now that they're gonna see this money. We're gonna see next year we're gonna see some of these top guys come in and be like, Yeah, this this I go I wanna make a million dollars for breaking a record. Yeah, maybe we'll get you to go break a record. What do you think about I was gonna say I was gonna say like ⁓ I was gonna say Rory, but he wouldn't do it. Like Bryson Bryson or like ⁓ what's the guy? Holt Holt Holtgeist Holtergeist. ⁓ the long guy, the big guy? No, he's like a big guy on the tour. Yeah, like ⁓ Polka Vist? Something like that? Something, guys. Something guys. He's a big fella, but put any of those like long headers on Roids. I like where your head's at. I think they should do like some events that aren't like the track and field. They should do like long drive. Yeah, dude, they're gonna hit like five hundred yards. Yeah. They're gonna be driving par five, dude. I'm with that. Let's do that. Let's get like some obscure events. I'd be so d I know Roy wouldn't do it. Who can hit the farthest home run? Let's go like the juiced era. But Shohei? Shohe run? Yeah. Well, it won't be Shohei, but you'd have to find like I mean Shohei would hit a five hundred and sixty yard home run and then turn around and throw a hundred and twelve mile an hour fastball. Five hundred and sixty foot home run. Or you say five hundred and sixty yards. ⁓ I meant f yeah, five sixty foot. Probably five hundred and sixty yards. It might be five sixty. A yard on Alvarez on that? Kyle Schwarber? Yeah. O'Neill Cruz? I mean, be we basically got to see it with Barry Bonds. Yeah, I was gonna say we've already we've kind of already seen the the peak of baseball seventy yeah. Seventy one, seventy two home runs in a season. Yeah. But if it's legally funded hundred, something seven hundred how many home runs? Seven hundred and fifty six. That's how many. Fact check that, please. I don't know how many finished with, but I know that was the record. I think ⁓ I know he hit like seventy-two in a season or something. Yeah, I'm just talking about total. Yeah. Yeah. Put Kal Schwabron. Yeah, dude. That's all right. I I like this. Put a big boy on the roids. Like bowling. I actually bowling probably wouldn't work. He might just be the the pins would just disintegrate. His ball would just go through the fucking plane, dude. They'd have to get like titanium, yeah, titanium ⁓ floors in or something. What other sport would that be crazy for? ⁓ tennis, he would just put a the ball would just go through his racket as he tries to roller derby? Roller derby rugby? You'd be seeing flames behind those roller skates. Maybe like a football like a football version of it. ⁓ who's that guy on your team? Cowboys back up. Jalen Milro. ⁓ a football. He'd be throwing that shit two hundred yards. That would yeah. Enhanced games, hit us up. We got some ideas for you. Extend the football field. Get these guys on roids. They used to do that for the Pro Bowl. I dude I miss when they did like the f the quarterback throwing competitions in the Pro Bowl. Yeah, bro. We just say like see which quarterback. Yeah. I ⁓ we got some ideas. I think this is good. Hit us up. Hit us up, enhance. Whoever this is. Whoever billionaires this runs it. ⁓ and some other news that's going on. Just something that was a little sad to hear. ⁓ Kyle Bush ⁓ passed away this past week. NASCAR legend. ⁓ it's kind of a crazy how quickly that hap that whole process happened and and just like the from when he got sick to when he passed away. thoughts and prayers are with his family and just the hard time that they're going through right now. So ⁓ I know sports and stuff. We always like to say, like, you know, it's all the fun and stuff, but it's always sad, especially he was like in his early forties. So just Thoughts of prayers with them and ⁓ I thought it was cool. Andy Carr did like a on the eighteenth lap they did kind of like a salute lap to him. So this is really cool. And ⁓ yeah, shout out Kyle Bush. Also, I don't know if we touched on this when it happened, but Brendan Clark. Brendan Clark. Memphis Grizzly. ⁓ the NBA. Yeah. Twenty nine years old, passed away. Yeah, that's I think I think we dropped the episode and then that happened. So yeah. We just wanted to say, yeah. Early untimely deaths happening. Especially in the sports world. So I always hate to see him. ⁓ with that, we'll come back. We have a little stat pad game we're gonna do and then we'll get into closing out the show. Alright, so just like last time we did this, we're doing stat pad again. Once again, top left, you're gonna see the major category for the game. Yards per game, receiving. You wanna do the highest. For the allotted extra categories. So for first one we have obviously NFC South. Twenty twenty four. We gotta do And this is where it could be any player from twenty twenty four. Any player from twenty twenty four receiving not a running back, obviously, could be tight end, could be receiver, probably receiver. But we gotta pick Give me Drew Brees. First of all, he didn't play. In twenty twenty four. Second of he's a Was it good enough to play? Second of all, he's a quarterback, so he didn't catch a lot of passes. There we go. I was just testing you, Matt. All right. Let's lock in here. NFC South, twenty twenty four. First Matt, this is probably gonna be right up your alley. You are a big Saints fan, big NFC South fan. I am. I see these teams twice a year. Yeah, there was a Mike Evans. Initial thought goes to Drake London, Falcons, but I think he had over a thousand. Panthers, obviously eliminating Panthers. I'm going to eliminate ⁓ This wasn't a Chris Godwin Chris Godwin like snapped his leg this year, I believe. I don't I mean it could be Mac Evans. It could be Chris Olave. I don't I think I like Drake London in this one. I do like Drake London as well, but there's also Kyle Pitts. I think he's getting he's it wasn't getting yards. No yards like that. So I'm gonna go This would have been Olave's rookie year. No. ⁓ I think Olave drafted twenty one. Okay. This was his fourth year, I think. He's already on his fourth year. Yeah, second team all pro Chris Olave, by the way. Didn't get the number one, it was It was Chris Godwin. Yards per game, by the way. ⁓ yards per game. Not total yards. You didn't tell me that. Just kidding. I shouldn't have said that as well. I would have gone Drake London as well. Arnold Mooney, Adam Thielen. Okay. I mean, that changes a lot, I guess. Okay. Yards per game. I I don't know what the it isn't till you like how they qualify to be a choice. Okay. Well, we're good. Let's go to the Texans here. Tw 2000 to 2025. Not draft in the first round. Not first round pick. ⁓ was Andre was it Johnson? Was he a first round pick? Yeah, that's initially. I know. ⁓ DeAndre Hopkins was a first round pick. Yep. ⁓ Andre Johnson might not have been it will tell us. It will tell us if I do pick him and it's he's not a first round pick, it will tell us. But if I do pick him and it's wrong or it's I like that. That's my gut instinct. I mean obviously the best receiver in their team history. You got Nico Collins though. Was he a first round? I mean, I don't know. I don't think so. Okay, so let's go Andre Johnson. If it's not him, let's go Nico Collins. But also guess? Yes. We gotta pick the gear though. that's the He played until twenty sixteen? That's crazy. ⁓ I'd say like two thousand eight. Isn't that like a swab year? I might be spitting hot at this point like garbage right now. We're picking gears. Obviously you don't wanna go the latest or the earliest most of the time. I guess ⁓ eight. He was. He was a first round draft pick. Okay. That makes things tough. Also, I was gonna say Brennan Cooks, but he was a first round pick. ⁓ but it's not a big casuals. I mean, I guess obviously second thought is Nico Collins, but I don't know if you wanna do that. Nico Cool. Can't spell. I like it. I mean the Texans haven't been like have crazy receivers. Wait, yeah, I mean What was C J Strauss' rookie year? I think it might have been twenty twenty one as well. Yeah. But ⁓ I mean, he was a coveted pick this year and last year, so maybe twenty three might have been a really good year for him. I like that. I wish fantasy wise he was a coveted pick. I wish I could phone a friend, my brother. He drafts Nico Collins every year in fantasy football. No, this is a twenty twenty four. I like twenty twenty three. Okay. That was my initial thought, but Bang's number one. Yeah, we were good. I also thought Tank Dell, but I just didn't think he had the yards per game. Hopefully he plays this year. Yeah. Also. ⁓ small knowledge, elite. I know initially misses Taylor Swift. Travis Kelsey. Travis Kelsey. ⁓ also was at the Cavs game with Taylor Swift. Forgot to mention that. Yeah, really big point we missed. I it will be Kelsey, but what year it is is it? I know obviously Travis or ⁓ Tony Gonjales, but Kelsey is Yeah, I mean like receivers, but what year was she super good? The reason we choose r receivers or tight ends from now, it's like the the NFL has progressed where it's a lot more offensive heavy, especially in the last like ten years. We've seen like an uptick. So it's like all the guys from early thousands were very good, but they they did not have the offensive play calling that we see now, where it's strictly a lot more passive. Yeah. I'm trying to think of like When do you stop calling everyone like they're casuals, dude? There's probably people yelling at at us the year what it is. I know. Everybody knows more than us. I think Mahomes Mahomes big year was like wasn't it twenty two? He was drafted twenty eighteen, so yeah, it would have like twenty twenty. I think I like twenty twenty two. I do as well. Nope. Can't drag it out that much. Twenty twenty. Ooh, twenty eighteen. I just thought that was too early in Mahomes' career. It's really not that much. I mean twenty twenty, absolutely crazy. But that's also isn't that the COVID year? It was a little skewed. Yeah, I think it would have been this is like twenty twenty to twenty twenty one though. ⁓ okay. But shout out Tony G. ⁓ four. All right. Two thousand Seahawks not drafted in the first round. Receiving yards per game. I mean DK Love first round. Yeah, Tyler Lockett comes to mind. I think DK was second, I do believe. Maybe I'm tweaking. I know him and AJ Brown were the same draft class. I know AJ Brown was a second round pick. I know about DK. Obviously, Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett. ⁓ I feel like DK was a first round pick. 'Cause he was out of old miss, right? Yeah, him and AJ Brown. He's one of st he was like one of the stud receivers that came out of there. Well, it's not first round. We could go DK. I'm d I'm cool with DK or Tyler Lockett. Don't okay. I mean I guess DK. I don't know if he was first or not. I I feel like he's was a second round pick as well. Does it count as a guess if he's not? No, if he's n if he is first round, it won't count it. Okay. ⁓ what like twenty twenty one? Twenty twenty two. Yeah. I'm noticing a trend, dude. It's like the twenty twenty ones was just like a offensive juggernaut year for the ⁓ that's bad. ⁓ my god. 2020. We were on the right we were on the right path though. We missed it right here. You know ⁓ what? We've done this game. We've been too good on this game, so we needed a bad one. So I'm about the COVID year. Alright, next one here. And it's the North, twenty fifteen. Initially my mind goes to Brendan Marshall. Yeah, Brandon Marshall. ⁓ I think. That would also have been a Devontae Adams year in Green Bay. I Megatron was this was his last year, so probably not Megatron. Devontae Adams would have been a second year. That would have been a good one. I mean, you got ⁓ Hackers. Jordi Nelson, Reynold Cobb, Lions, Kenny Galladay. The only reason I don't know if it's the Bears for twenty fifteen is because maybe Golden Tate. I guess it was twenty eighteen when they drafted ⁓ their quarterback Mitch Trubisky. So it would have like twenty seventeen is when they would have been bad. But I just know the Bears did struggle for the longest time. And I know Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay with Devontae Adams. Wasn't there also like a Jordy Nelson? I just said. ⁓ did you say Jordy Nelson? Jordy Nelson, Reynold Cobb. ⁓ I mean Lions, Kenny Galladay. This would have been the Packers in like their prime too. But also I know Brandon Marshall did was a dog. He also very good, yeah. I'm kind of between I'm cool with Marshall or the Green Bay guys, Jordy Nelson or Devontae Adams. I'm cool with Marshall or Jordy Nelson. Jordy Nelson has got us before though. You go Brandon Marshall? Let's go Brandon Marshall, but if it's Jordy Nelson, we said it. That would have been at the end of his career too. That's surprising. Maybe he had a really good renacet. I don't even know if was he even on the Bears at this point? Might have been on the Jets. Yeah. So did we just go? Let's go Jordian Elson. I mean, this might be out of left field. Crazy Also at the end of the second guess. This might be crazy second gashing. I'm gonna go Brennan Marshall. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm an idiot. I get it. All right, I'm an idiot. He was the Jets in twenty fifteen. Let's take it. ⁓ Kenny Galladay. Low key, give me Kenny Galladay, bro. You're You're going rogue. Give me not Kenny Galladay because he wasn't in the league. Think about Ted ins. All roads point back to Jordy Nelson. It's not gonna be some tied in. It's gonna there's gonna be a tight end on there. ⁓ he played for the New York Mets in twenty fifteen. Wait, who who's NYM? Am I that's not possible. Hello? He Tim Tebow? He played for the Mets in twenty fifteen? What am I saying? Hello? What are we on? Hold on. I'm actually gonna look that up. I know he played for the Raiders at the end of his career. What do you mean NYM? I'm looking it up with ⁓ NYM. That's not real. Is the game tweaking? ⁓ so twenty fifteen he there's not even he didn't even play. He played twenty fourteen with Green Bay and then he played twenty sixteen with Green Bay. So twenty fifteen, what did he do? There's no way he played baseball in twenty fifteen. Not baseball, d but did he play for like a c Canada team or something? No. That's where we go down the rabbit hole. Lose my mind. Blackings receivers. Okay, so he was on the Green Bay Packers roster in twenty fifteen, but he didn't play 'cause he wasn't suffered a torn ACL in the preseason. In YM is crazy though. Yeah. We just saved ourselves a guess. Let's go Devonte Adams, dude. Let's not I know we don't want the segment to be that long. Let's not gotta get somebody guess like that though. Pick somebody. Think about it for a second. The segment's gone on long enough. I mean, this is what I'm saying. Then w what we might as well just not do this. I'll get an attitude. His second year, we're gonna say Devonta Adams. Is there anyone else that's come to your mind? Greg Olson. Go Greg Olson. Wait, what? Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears. Panthers. Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears 2015. Alright, come on. Great. Al Sandreff. My God, I just and Calvin. I just hadn't typed in. Well The Virgos, whoever watches this, will s see that I typed in Al Sandreffrey to see His years whatever when he played. That's that's a tough look. That's a horrendous miss. Thirty be thirty two percent of other grids or other scores. ⁓ well. That's Matt, you wanna stop sharing your screen? I might as well shove my ass at this point, dude. That was a tough look, but we've done really good on those in the past, so we needed one where we struggled a little bit. May it look like we don't look up the answers before the podcast. It's only our second one, dude. That's not a good look for the brand. Yeah. ⁓ well. Close out the show. Thank you everyone for listening.
