Latest / Vanity Farah with Chris Farah / Sister Wives Season 21 Episode 1 “Crazy Big News”
Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Hi, everyone. Welcome back to Vanity Pharah. My name is
- 0:09Speaker 1: Chris Pharah, and I talk about pop culture and TV recaps.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And today, honey, it's, I mean, the whole week has
- 0:17Speaker 1: been premiere after premiere because we're back to school in
- 0:20Speaker 1: that sort of like fall TV lineup. And remember when
- 0:24Speaker 1: we used to have that and it was scripted television
- 0:27Speaker 1: anyway obviously i dropped 90 day toe the other way
- 0:31Speaker 1: that was the premiere episode for the new season as
- 0:33Speaker 1: well as 90 day hunt for love and honey here
- 0:36Speaker 1: i am with a brand new one it's sister wives
- 0:38Speaker 1: season 21 episode one and it's called crazy big news
- 0:46Speaker 1: crazy big news it could also be called the back
- 0:50Speaker 1: door dill And it could also be called Fuck Cody
- 0:56Speaker 1: because two wives fully say it and it ends scenes.
- 1:00Speaker 1: All right, let's get in, honey. And like season 21,
- 1:03Speaker 1: if you are a Sister Wives fan, don't you just
- 1:08Speaker 1: kind of feel embarrassed every time you say that out loud?
- 1:10Speaker 1: I do. Like I for sure do. Like I have
- 1:13Speaker 1: to always back it up. It's always like self-depreciating. I'm like,
- 1:16Speaker 1: I'm a Sister Wives fan. Nothing happened for so long,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but everything happened. Everything that we thought was happening was
- 1:22Speaker 1: always happening. Now we can talk about it. You know,
- 1:25Speaker 1: like it feels like that. Right. And just we'll always
- 1:28Speaker 1: watch it. So and because we know for how long
- 1:31Speaker 1: these people's lives were intertwined, you know, it's. It's like
- 1:37Speaker 1: knowing someone's full drama story. And obviously the seasons happen
- 1:42Speaker 1: with like years in between, but there's so many family
- 1:44Speaker 1: members and they all have social medias that we can
- 1:47Speaker 1: kind of keep up. Like McKelvey will drop stuff and
- 1:49Speaker 1: Leon will drop stuff. And I mean, when I say
- 1:52Speaker 1: drop stuff, I mean, very, very few and far between
- 1:55Speaker 1: are any details really juicy and we're still waiting Leon.
- 1:59Speaker 1: But until then, this is season 21. Before season 21 aired,
- 2:04Speaker 1: we knew, honey, on the streets that Rob, yeah, Robin
- 2:07Speaker 1: and Cody were out. They're out. Honey, you're in or
- 2:13Speaker 1: you're out. And Heidi Klum, you are out. So, or
- 2:17Speaker 1: they decided to do it. So it isn't like they
- 2:19Speaker 1: got kicked off, I'm sure. They made a choice and
- 2:21Speaker 1: the choice was nope. And that's a surprising choice. Why?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Because we assume people want money. But it's interesting. Cody
- 2:32Speaker 1: went on special forces. Now, surely they've not tried to
- 2:40Speaker 1: use their fame in a lucrative way like we've seen
- 2:44Speaker 1: other reality stars. I mean, there wasn't any sort of
- 2:47Speaker 1: like businesses. Besides, interestingly enough, the other wives, not Cody,
- 2:53Speaker 1: not Robin, try to do like the MLMs. Now, you
- 2:55Speaker 1: could be like, Chris, remember my sister's keeper? Yeah, I
- 2:58Speaker 1: know what you're saying. But that didn't last. And since
- 3:02Speaker 1: Cody and Robin got together, they don't shill anything together.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I mean, they really don't. They don't even try and
- 3:07Speaker 1: do like extra content or anything. There's no OnlyFans. I'm kidding.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But at the same time, there's, you know, over the years,
- 3:15Speaker 1: there's been the infiltration of Utah MLMs into the worlds
- 3:19Speaker 1: of the other sister wives, honey, like LaRue, LaRue, you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: the Plexus, the bullshit. So having said that, we are
- 3:30Speaker 1: just assuming that they're relying on their funds, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and she depletes them with those American Girl Etsy orders
- 3:38Speaker 1: and that big-ass 90-ass house, honey, they just bought. So
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's interesting. We would think they would want the money
- 3:44Speaker 1: is what I'm trying to say. And or he would
- 3:47Speaker 1: want the fame. That's why he, this show exists. It's
- 3:51Speaker 1: because of Cody. I'll tell you right now, Janelle wasn't like, hey, Cody,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I called Hollywood. And made sure that they knew about us.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And I really want Mary to be a star. You know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: that obviously isn't what happened. Cody was like, I'm a star.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Love should be multiplied, not divided. And I mean, God bless.
- 4:15Speaker 1: In the realist talk, what is true and authentic is
- 4:23Speaker 1: the show started off with Cody doing one or two things,
- 4:28Speaker 1: being like, I want to be famous. I want to
- 4:30Speaker 1: de-stigmatize polygamy. I want, you know, to probably make money.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And I want to show our lives. And up until
- 4:39Speaker 1: Robin really got in the picture, their lives kind of
- 4:43Speaker 1: moved like clockwork. They lived together. There were the three wives.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Everyone was raising the kids. It was like a well-oiled machine.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And so probably in his mind, he was like, great,
- 4:53Speaker 1: that's happening. You know, I fell in love low key
- 4:56Speaker 1: for the first time. Robin's right here. We can make
- 4:58Speaker 1: a show of this. And then, you know, truthfully, what
- 5:02Speaker 1: had happened is Cody didn't have the managerial skills, nor
- 5:09Speaker 1: the patience or attention, due diligence, maturity, wisdom, breath to
- 5:17Speaker 1: make sure all of the family members were satisfied and
- 5:24Speaker 1: were felt cared for and loved. It's not what he did.
- 5:30Speaker 1: The bitch got selfish and gave all his time and
- 5:33Speaker 1: energy to Robin, which of course, I mean, ignited flames
- 5:40Speaker 1: of jealousy, resentment, indignation, the other wives that trickled down
- 5:46Speaker 1: to the children, the children, and not just that, he
- 5:49Speaker 1: didn't just ignore the other wives, he ignored his children.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So the children didn't have to just like feel their
- 5:54Speaker 1: mom's sort of anger or resentment. They had their own
- 5:58Speaker 1: from not ever seeing this man or him making bullshit
- 6:02Speaker 1: excuses about why he can't be with them and instead
- 6:05Speaker 1: is with Robin, right? So that's, you know, obviously all
- 6:09Speaker 1: of that, which we all know, you're like, I know
- 6:11Speaker 1: this already, but God bless. So This is the big news.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It's the crazy big news is that of course, Robin
- 6:18Speaker 1: and Cody are done and it's shocking. And we also
- 6:22Speaker 1: never got a statement really of why from them, which
- 6:26Speaker 1: I find interesting. Also, we know nothing lasts forever. Like
- 6:33Speaker 1: they can come back, you know, as well as I
- 6:37Speaker 1: like to think that perhaps there were unknown things and
- 6:41Speaker 1: unknown discussions that And I wonder how TLC pivoted. There
- 6:46Speaker 1: are a lot of family members, right? So having said that,
- 6:50Speaker 1: there's a lot of ways in which you could, if
- 6:52Speaker 1: you wanted to, keep the story going. You could do
- 6:55Speaker 1: it under the Sister Wives TV show, which is what
- 6:58Speaker 1: they did. This is season 21. They could have a spinoff.
- 7:03Speaker 1: They could follow the kids. They could just follow Maddie
- 7:06Speaker 1: and call it... Takawanda, whatever it's called. I don't know. Honey,
- 7:11Speaker 1: I do not know what that flower farm is named. Okay.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But the flower farm, Takonda? God bless. They could, you know,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I mean, they could, I guess, be like, what's happening
- 7:24Speaker 1: with Christine and David's life in Arizona? And, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: maybe David would get his ultimate dream come true, which
- 7:31Speaker 1: is his own show where they only talk about his
- 7:33Speaker 1: family and his drama and his interesting life. No. No. Okay.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So obviously we start and all the women know. So
- 7:43Speaker 1: Janelle is smiling like a Cheshire cat because she knows,
- 7:46Speaker 1: Mary knows. And Mary, this season, God bless, has gotten,
- 7:52Speaker 1: has felt, she's gotten, she's lost some LBs, you know.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I don't know if she's talking about it on her
- 8:00Speaker 1: social medias. I'm not like, you know, following Mary that
- 8:03Speaker 1: much on the TikTok and lives and like mostly, I
- 8:06Speaker 1: don't know. Mary's personality is interesting. No one do I
- 8:09Speaker 1: want all the time. It was always nice the fact
- 8:12Speaker 1: that these personalities, bland and or somewhat abrasive, were watered
- 8:17Speaker 1: down by other bland and or abrasive personalities. So you
- 8:24Speaker 1: never had to just get one for too long. You
- 8:25Speaker 1: just got like a buffet of Why do I watch
- 8:29Speaker 1: this show? Okay. So, so anyway, she looks different. She looks,
- 8:33Speaker 1: she looks, she's lost a lot of weight. What am
- 8:35Speaker 1: I trying to say? Um, God bless her. And I
- 8:37Speaker 1: hope that, you know, she's really happy. And let me
- 8:39Speaker 1: say this now to me, she looks just like Christine Baranski.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So I took this picture. Don't even worry about it. It's,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you know, obviously from my computer and her face is blurry,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but for if you're looking on YouTube or Patreon, because
- 8:54Speaker 1: you want to see the visuals of what you're listening to,
- 8:56Speaker 1: you would see my side-by-side Christine Baranski, Gilded Age, Christine Baranski,
- 8:59Speaker 1: you know, I'm talking about Christine and Mary. Okay. So
- 9:05Speaker 1: And also at the same time, thank you so much
- 9:07Speaker 1: for watching. If you are on YouTube, please, you know, follow, subscribe,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and give me likes and all that stuff. And also
- 9:12Speaker 1: if you're on Patreon, I love you so much. And
- 9:14Speaker 1: let's have kids. And if you're listening on Vanity Fair,
- 9:17Speaker 1: wherever you are listening, please give me five stars and
- 9:19Speaker 1: a helpful review. That helps. Okay. So they all know, again,
- 9:23Speaker 1: Cody and Robin aren't filming. It's been 16 years of
- 9:25Speaker 1: all them filming. So it is like, you know, shocking.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It's crazy. Mary and Janelle are surprised and shocked. Like
- 9:30Speaker 1: they're like, they can't really, you know, talk about it.
- 9:35Speaker 1: They are happy and joyous even. You can really see
- 9:38Speaker 1: the joy and light in both of their eyes, which
- 9:40Speaker 1: is interesting. Christine can't process it. I think that Christine
- 9:44Speaker 1: is up from down from Christine because I think Cody
- 9:51Speaker 1: is obviously someone who wanted to be famous and was
- 9:54Speaker 1: so gung-ho about this. And so the fact that he
- 9:57Speaker 1: initiated it and now that he's gone, it's just it's
- 10:01Speaker 1: like a ultimate karma kind of just irony that I
- 10:10Speaker 1: think that for the women to sit with and be
- 10:12Speaker 1: able to and have to give breath with and like
- 10:14Speaker 1: space to is just, it's a lot probably. It's just,
- 10:17Speaker 1: and it also, I think tickles them probably the way
- 10:20Speaker 1: it all shook down. Okay. So Christine has no contact sense. Right. Um,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and Janelle, since Janelle says that, you know, they haven't
- 10:31Speaker 1: talked since the tell-all because he torpedoed her character. They
- 10:38Speaker 1: didn't talk with the tell-all, but, uh, They haven't talked
- 10:40Speaker 1: since the Coyote Pass meetup where they all just looked
- 10:43Speaker 1: at each other. And this torpedoing of her character is
- 10:48Speaker 1: really the crux of the premiere episode, which is that
- 10:53Speaker 1: back in the day, honey, with Coyote Ugly, as we know,
- 10:56Speaker 1: Blah Biddy Blue, they had an asinine way they divided it,
- 11:00Speaker 1: which was like parcels of different sizes with different features.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And he put different names on the different parcels and
- 11:05Speaker 1: nothing was even and didn't make any sense. So when
- 11:07Speaker 1: they sold the whole thing, he didn't know how he
- 11:11Speaker 1: was going to be able to divide it, but he
- 11:12Speaker 1: gave himself options to be able to sort of pick
- 11:15Speaker 1: and choose the way he did want to divide it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And there are like these unspoken ideas people have of
- 11:22Speaker 1: how much money they put in to the family pot
- 11:27Speaker 1: that was how they bought these parcels. And I think
- 11:31Speaker 1: that on the whole, Janelle and Cody financially gave more money,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but Janelle had 1 billion kids, and if Christine wasn't
- 11:41Speaker 1: giving money, Christine was taking care of them kids. Now,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Robin wasn't there at all. But Cody made sure to, like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: for sure marry Robin, have her legally entitled to everything,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and legally adopted her kids. Which I think is crazy. Right? Um,
- 12:08Speaker 1: you know, just in the sense of like, I, I
- 12:11Speaker 1: really need to know what his, what their dad was like. Okay.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I mean, but then we don't know, you know, she,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and that's the other thing about Robin. Robin signed up
- 12:20Speaker 1: for a reality show and then never really wanted to
- 12:23Speaker 1: tell the truth about anything. And this is the crux
- 12:28Speaker 1: of reality shows nowadays. If you want to be successful
- 12:31Speaker 1: as a where all of your business is up for
- 12:37Speaker 1: grabs to be talked about everything. I don't care how
- 12:39Speaker 1: bad it is. It can be exposed and you have
- 12:42Speaker 1: to be open about it. That is the contract that
- 12:44Speaker 1: you sign. Okay. Now we know this from Kardashians. We
- 12:48Speaker 1: can see this like from Taylor, Frankie, Paul, or like
- 12:50Speaker 1: secret loves and Mormon wives. Like there are extreme cases
- 12:52Speaker 1: and I'm not saying it's healthy, but Robin never wanted
- 12:55Speaker 1: to talk about anything real. She just wanted to, I guess,
- 12:59Speaker 1: like have some fake life portrayed, and I think that
- 13:03Speaker 1: she was really upset that people, A, didn't buy it,
- 13:06Speaker 1: saw through it, and then C, didn't enjoy or like
- 13:09Speaker 1: her because of it, because she was never sincere or authentic, right?
- 13:13Speaker 1: In a way, Christine was more, especially because she ended
- 13:17Speaker 1: up being the first whistleblower, if you will, the truth teller,
- 13:20Speaker 1: you know, and then, of course, her truth set everyone free. Okay,
- 13:27Speaker 1: so yeah, we, Coyote, I'm sorry. So obviously, I'm so sorry. Obviously,
- 13:31Speaker 1: I went back and forth. Coyote Pass. Coyote Pass is
- 13:34Speaker 1: the situation where once they decided to fuck up the
- 13:38Speaker 1: family and sell it all, Cody, like I said, was
- 13:41Speaker 1: given a authority over the sale of it. And because
- 13:45Speaker 1: he had awkwardly put all the titles in different names,
- 13:50Speaker 1: the women were and not Christine because she had X'd out,
- 13:53Speaker 1: had to just deal with him. And Mary was the
- 13:56Speaker 1: last to be like disloyal to him in a way.
- 14:01Speaker 1: But Janelle was always like financially loyal to him, but
- 14:03Speaker 1: also wanted out. It was very fucked up and confusing.
- 14:06Speaker 1: And the way that he manipulated all the women was,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you know, to be studied. That's honestly, I think that
- 14:11Speaker 1: probably like a weird course in Yale that's going to
- 14:13Speaker 1: be like in a He's looking for a buyer and
- 14:19Speaker 1: he has to get everyone on board to sell these
- 14:21Speaker 1: parcels and he doesn't want to talk to Mary. She
- 14:23Speaker 1: annoys him and he's talking to Janelle about it. And
- 14:26Speaker 1: he says to Janelle, this is what I think, something like, well,
- 14:28Speaker 1: my lawyer said I don't even really have to get
- 14:30Speaker 1: her to sign off. And to me, probably Janelle in
- 14:35Speaker 1: like a very like weighing options or just stating a
- 14:40Speaker 1: fact was like, well, yeah, I guess you don't have to.
- 14:44Speaker 1: You could just cut her out. But I don't really
- 14:47Speaker 1: think that Janelle was like, yeah, you should do that. Yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 1: do it. They're saying, he just gave me all the money. Like,
- 14:54Speaker 1: I honestly don't think that's what happened. I think that
- 14:58Speaker 1: Cody was butthurt, petty, vindictive. And he used this situation
- 15:07Speaker 1: to sort of like make Janelle look bad. Now, Janelle
- 15:11Speaker 1: didn't know how to either like explain it or whatnot.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So the way that she does in this meetup is awkward. Okay.
- 15:19Speaker 1: So as I said, Cody lets it be known that
- 15:25Speaker 1: this conversation happens and Mary obviously hears that. And so
- 15:29Speaker 1: now Mary thinks that Janelle conspired to cut her out
- 15:34Speaker 1: of the financial gains of this deal. Okay. Janelle is
- 15:41Speaker 1: really upset. And she literally is just like, yeah, so
- 15:46Speaker 1: fuck him. And that means Cody. And every time that
- 15:49Speaker 1: Janelle says fuck you or fuck him or fuck to Cody,
- 15:52Speaker 1: we're always so happy. It's just such a shock. We're like,
- 15:54Speaker 1: oh my God. I would love a firing squad where
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's not really someone killing Cody, but it is every person,
- 15:59Speaker 1: every person that wants to do it. So like every
- 16:01Speaker 1: family member, every kid just be like, fuck you, fuck you.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And he just has to take it. Okay. Let's go back.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So now, honey, we're going to check in on the women.
- 16:10Speaker 1: We know what's happening. Mary says that she's building businesses.
- 16:13Speaker 1: And by building businesses, she's playing trucks in Parowan, honey.
- 16:20Speaker 1: But she's having a lot of fun. She's living. She
- 16:22Speaker 1: says she's collecting people. What is a weird way to
- 16:25Speaker 1: say something? Mary's weird. Mary says things where you're like,
- 16:31Speaker 1: I just would never want to be friends with you.
- 16:32Speaker 1: You're collecting people. That's like a weird narcissistic thing to say.
- 16:36Speaker 1: What the fuck are you? What are people? Owl figurines?
- 16:40Speaker 1: When you have some armoire you're going to put everyone in?
- 16:42Speaker 1: Collecting people. How dehumanizing? I don't know. People are precious
- 16:51Speaker 1: moment figurines, honey. People are just different yadros. And Mary's
- 16:55Speaker 1: my aunt. They're in every corner. So anyway, God bless.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Mary brings over Amber to like, you know, Jen's bike
- 17:02Speaker 1: shop to talk about the fact that she has to
- 17:03Speaker 1: go meet with Janelle over this, like, you know, backdoor conversation,
- 17:06Speaker 1: the backdoor deal. When they talk with the fact that
- 17:10Speaker 1: Robin and Cody are no longer filming, they say, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, well, they, I guess they just want
- 17:16Speaker 1: to be monogamous now. And Mary's like, well, they've been
- 17:20Speaker 1: monogamous since 2010, but I'm Mary. I'm funny. One thing
- 17:25Speaker 1: about me, I'm funny and I'm Mary and I'm not negative,
- 17:28Speaker 1: even though honestly, Mary's real negative. I don't, I'm just saying,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you know, what's interesting is that everyone is like the
- 17:37Speaker 1: other person is the most horrible person in the world,
- 17:39Speaker 1: but like everyone's kind of horrible, which is so human, right? Like,
- 17:43Speaker 1: isn't everyone a little bit horrible, but no one's like
- 17:47Speaker 1: Robin's horrible. Cody's horrible. However, Christine's a little horrible. Janelle's
- 17:52Speaker 1: a little horrible. And Mary is horrible. Mostly horrible. And OK,
- 18:01Speaker 1: so anyway, great. That's what Mary is like. And the
- 18:07Speaker 1: other thing is, if he's not filming anymore, I can
- 18:09Speaker 1: finally say, fuck him. Which is, again, the second scene
- 18:13Speaker 1: that ends with people saying, fuck them, and I find
- 18:14Speaker 1: that hilarious. So then Janelle and Christine hang out, you know,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and that's always interesting. I'm like, so Janelle just flew
- 18:20Speaker 1: over to hang out with Christine because they live in
- 18:21Speaker 1: different states. But obviously Janelle, you know, is still, she's
- 18:24Speaker 1: going to be moving into her new place, so I
- 18:26Speaker 1: guess she's a nomad, honey. But she's showing her pictures
- 18:30Speaker 1: of her new home, and she says that she is proud.
- 18:33Speaker 1: She is single, independent, and able to be my own woman.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And that's so interesting. I'm really happy for anyone that
- 18:43Speaker 1: can feel like they can, you know, stand in their
- 18:50Speaker 1: power and whatever that means. And I think that it's
- 18:56Speaker 1: important to just stay in like that kind of like
- 19:00Speaker 1: gratitude because really seeing it and experience it and then
- 19:04Speaker 1: watching someone doing it, I think that facilitates other people
- 19:07Speaker 1: doing it. There's a, part of my soul that's like, oh,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I just wish for people to be able to do
- 19:12Speaker 1: it maybe earlier on in their lives or whatever. But
- 19:16Speaker 1: at the same time, you just cannot have control over
- 19:20Speaker 1: a timeline, over when things happen to you. And I mean,
- 19:23Speaker 1: those are like huge things. Like, yeah, you can't have
- 19:26Speaker 1: control over when you fall in love, right? You can't
- 19:29Speaker 1: have control over when you finally feel free or to
- 19:32Speaker 1: be able to be your own self or to be,
- 19:34Speaker 1: you know, and there's just so many ways in which
- 19:36Speaker 1: that can happen. I could be like, oh, I'm finally
- 19:40Speaker 1: able to be free and me and I'm gay. And
- 19:43Speaker 1: here I am and I'm finally able to say it
- 19:45Speaker 1: and live that way. I don't give a fuck about anyone.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I mean, I'm living my life. I have friends. I'm open,
- 19:52Speaker 1: whatever it is. Or it could be trans or it
- 19:54Speaker 1: could be... I was in a cult, which is kind
- 19:58Speaker 1: of like what I feel like Janelle happened. And now
- 20:01Speaker 1: I have my own mind and I can make my
- 20:03Speaker 1: own thoughts and I can live the way I want
- 20:04Speaker 1: to live without thinking about how people are going to
- 20:07Speaker 1: judge me. It's also interesting, right? So I'm happy for Janelle.
- 20:12Speaker 1: And I think that we all have to take a
- 20:14Speaker 1: piece of that. Okay. Janelle feels like she didn't say
- 20:21Speaker 1: what Cody said she said. Like, maybe she said something like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: that's what your lawyer said. But she keeps blaming Cody
- 20:28Speaker 1: and says, well, also Cody said that his lawyer said
- 20:30Speaker 1: the same thing. Which is true. But it's interesting because
- 20:35Speaker 1: the fact that she says... But she didn't just say
- 20:39Speaker 1: it pragmatically or just because or in a way that
- 20:42Speaker 1: he misunderstood or being like, I guess, yeah, you could.
- 20:45Speaker 1: It doesn't make logical sense because it would make easier
- 20:49Speaker 1: for me to be like, he's twisting it. We were
- 20:56Speaker 1: literally discussing his options. And unfortunately, that's the chaotic bad option.
- 21:02Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? In that kind of way.
- 21:06Speaker 1: So all the women... all are going to meet up
- 21:11Speaker 1: because they have to exchange photos, Christine says, recipes, and
- 21:16Speaker 1: look at videos. And this is interesting because obviously Christine
- 21:19Speaker 1: and Janelle talk. We are about to see, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: a Janelle-Mary scene. And we know that Christine and Mary
- 21:26Speaker 1: hate each other, do not like each other. So like,
- 21:31Speaker 1: you know, God bless, what's that going to be like?
- 21:35Speaker 1: That meetup, is going to happen later in the episode.
- 21:38Speaker 1: The first meetup is this one, which is interesting because
- 21:41Speaker 1: it's hard to get anyone to film with anyone. And
- 21:45Speaker 1: I wonder if this season is going to do more
- 21:46Speaker 1: kid stuff because I think that one way in which
- 21:49Speaker 1: they can keep this franchise going is to get more
- 21:53Speaker 1: kids involved filming. And obviously McKelty's down, obviously Maddie's down. Leon,
- 21:59Speaker 1: I believe, said that Leon wouldn't want to film unless
- 22:05Speaker 1: it was an entirely different named show. Like, and it
- 22:08Speaker 1: was a kid probably spinoff show. So, you know, at
- 22:13Speaker 1: the same time, Leon was around in the last season.
- 22:16Speaker 1: So I don't know if maybe there'd be some sort
- 22:20Speaker 1: of crossover to like start that or whatnot. We don't know.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So let's... Go get Mary and Janelle on, honey. And
- 22:31Speaker 1: we're going to a beautiful Utah State Botanical Gardens. Mary
- 22:39Speaker 1: wears like a worthy up shirt because, you know, if
- 22:41Speaker 1: she's going to be on TV, might as well like
- 22:43Speaker 1: hawk something. And listen, Mary's lost, you know, a bunch
- 22:47Speaker 1: of weight. So Janelle sees her and she's like, you
- 22:50Speaker 1: look good. And, you know, Mary just takes that. So interesting. Interesting. Now,
- 23:02Speaker 1: while the scene's happening, a maddening scene happens where we
- 23:06Speaker 1: do have to discuss, and we'll jump back, where Christine
- 23:09Speaker 1: is forced to deal with David, who I swear she
- 23:14Speaker 1: must at this point be like, I fucked up. I
- 23:16Speaker 1: got married too fast. I had to get out of that,
- 23:18Speaker 1: and I ran right into something, and I didn't do
- 23:21Speaker 1: my due diligence, and now here I am. But David's like,
- 23:25Speaker 1: make me one of them tortilla sandwiches. I'm not sandwiches, tortillas. Well, sorry,
- 23:31Speaker 1: he didn't say sandwich. She says sandwich. He loves a
- 23:34Speaker 1: peanut butter and jam roll-up, honey. That's what it is,
- 23:38Speaker 1: and a tortilla. And she's like, yeah, the sandwich. He's like,
- 23:41Speaker 1: don't call it a sandwich. He says, call it a burrito.
- 23:48Speaker 1: And he then, yeah, like I did, says to call
- 23:51Speaker 1: it a burrito, and he says it in an Italian accent.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And that was very Cody of him. To interrupt her,
- 24:03Speaker 1: tell her what she's doing is wrong, and to do
- 24:06Speaker 1: something different, that's wrong? Don't call it a sandwich. Call
- 24:12Speaker 1: it a burrito. No, bitch, no. Because there's not one
- 24:16Speaker 1: person who speaks Spanish who would look at that peanut
- 24:19Speaker 1: butter and jelly roll-up on your like mission flour tortilla
- 24:24Speaker 1: and be like, that's a burrito. Or- Este es un burrito.
- 24:29Speaker 1: You know, I don't know. I'm sorry. I'm not saying
- 24:32Speaker 1: my accent is like perfect, but it's better than his. Okay.
- 24:39Speaker 1: At the same time, that's her life that she signed
- 24:41Speaker 1: up for. And she knows it. And I feel bad
- 24:44Speaker 1: for her. Then we get a little like producer-led deep
- 24:49Speaker 1: dive where they're like, how do you feel, David, about
- 24:51Speaker 1: the fact that you have to be interviewed on this show?
- 24:54Speaker 1: And he's like, I don't like talking about her past.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I find her past really annoying to talk about. And
- 24:59Speaker 1: I want to be like, well, then why are you here?
- 25:01Speaker 1: I think he's talking about in life, like he never
- 25:04Speaker 1: wants to talk about where she was for like all
- 25:07Speaker 1: the years before he knew her, which was like 50 years.
- 25:11Speaker 1: She has to look at him and be like, okay, well,
- 25:14Speaker 1: my past is my past. That's all I know. And
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'm one of the, from one of the founding fucking families,
- 25:22Speaker 1: like families of polygamy. I wasn't just like converted. My
- 25:26Speaker 1: parents were all polygamists. I was raised polygamous. This is
- 25:29Speaker 1: all I know. So if you don't want to talk
- 25:32Speaker 1: about it, it's kind of like you don't want to
- 25:36Speaker 1: acknowledge like the entire past of your wife. It's one
- 25:42Speaker 1: thing if he's like, this bitch talks about Cody all
- 25:46Speaker 1: the time. She is saying Cody and Cody is coming
- 25:49Speaker 1: out of her mouth. The word Cody, Cody, Cody, Cody,
- 25:52Speaker 1: all day long, Cody. period. And that would be a
- 25:56Speaker 1: different conversation. It also is a different conversation if he
- 26:00Speaker 1: is just talking about the fact that this show, Sister Wives,
- 26:03Speaker 1: comes to them to film. And every time they do,
- 26:06Speaker 1: they ask her about her past and her life with Cody.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I can't tell what he's mad about, but almost all
- 26:14Speaker 1: of them are dumb AF, unless it's just the fact
- 26:16Speaker 1: that she can't stop talking about literally Cody. But that's
- 26:20Speaker 1: not what it is. He wants her to talk about
- 26:24Speaker 1: him Like his shirts that he wears. How great Moab is.
- 26:35Speaker 1: When the NASCAR is coming to town. If it's not
- 26:42Speaker 1: one of those, or like what Yemi thinks she's thinking
- 26:45Speaker 1: about cooking for dinner for him, he doesn't want to
- 26:47Speaker 1: talk about it. So... let's go back. So at the
- 26:54Speaker 1: botanical gardens, Mary is sitting across from Janelle and they
- 27:00Speaker 1: are awkward and they are talking about obviously what happened.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And Mary's like, yeah, it just, there's a lot of questions.
- 27:09Speaker 1: It just doesn't quite make sense. I don't understand it.
- 27:12Speaker 1: And Janelle's like, well, what don't you understand? He's an asshole.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And I didn't say anything. Janelle does any of the
- 27:23Speaker 1: following things. Blame Cody. Look to the side when she's answering.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Or being like, aren't you happy it's over? Can we
- 27:32Speaker 1: just talk about the fact that it's over? My God,
- 27:35Speaker 1: remember that time we were all married and now it's over?
- 27:37Speaker 1: We don't ever have to talk about him because it's over. Please,
- 27:40Speaker 1: your God, right over. Like she toggles between all three
- 27:44Speaker 1: of those and it's a little like, bitch, what? Oh.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Let those eyes just land when you say something. I
- 27:54Speaker 1: don't need a whole master class or some, you know,
- 27:56Speaker 1: FBI agent to tell me that person can tell me
- 28:00Speaker 1: when someone's lying to know that Janelle was weird in
- 28:03Speaker 1: this fucking scene. It's obvious that she had a conversation.
- 28:12Speaker 1: And Mary at least gets her to say this. So
- 28:15Speaker 1: are you telling me that you had a conversation with
- 28:19Speaker 1: Cody where he mentioned the possibility of him not wanting
- 28:24Speaker 1: to give me a full piece of what was owed
- 28:26Speaker 1: to me and you didn't tell me. And here's the thing.
- 28:31Speaker 1: That is what happened. Now, Janelle in her heart of
- 28:35Speaker 1: hearts probably wants to say any of the following things. Bitch,
- 28:39Speaker 1: I don't like you. I just don't want to have
- 28:42Speaker 1: to tell you. He was avoiding talking to you, and
- 28:45Speaker 1: he's the one that has to talk to you. And
- 28:47Speaker 1: I don't want to have to clean up all his
- 28:49Speaker 1: dirty work all the time by being the one that
- 28:51Speaker 1: has to tell you. That's not my business. I don't
- 28:53Speaker 1: want to be married to him. And when I don't
- 28:55Speaker 1: want to be married to him, I certainly didn't want
- 28:57Speaker 1: to be married to you anymore. I don't want to
- 28:59Speaker 1: have to have accountability over you. So me telling you
- 29:02Speaker 1: to get a lawyer was it, was me being like,
- 29:07Speaker 1: this dumb bitch, get a lawyer. And you... you, Mary,
- 29:11Speaker 1: were like, I don't think I need one. Why don't
- 29:13Speaker 1: you need one? And I, Janelle, looked at you right
- 29:16Speaker 1: in the face and was like, well, then I can't
- 29:19Speaker 1: help you. You're not going to help yourself. I can't
- 29:22Speaker 1: lead a horse. I can lead a horse to water.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I can't make you drink, Mary Christine Baranski. You know,
- 29:30Speaker 1: I think that Janelle has that inside her. Like I
- 29:33Speaker 1: have fucking a billion kids and I work and I
- 29:36Speaker 1: don't want to care about you. I don't like you.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I didn't want to like tell you anything. I don't
- 29:39Speaker 1: want to have to come back at me. Then you're
- 29:41Speaker 1: going to, oh, what? So then you can go to
- 29:42Speaker 1: Cody and be like, I talked to Janelle and Janelle said, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 29:45Speaker 1: I don't want to have to deal with that because
- 29:46Speaker 1: then I have the fuck up my relationship with Cody
- 29:48Speaker 1: and I have 1 billion kids with him. And a
- 29:51Speaker 1: young one still, the younger one. I don't know. So
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's like, I think that that is where Janelle was
- 29:56Speaker 1: coming from, but she doesn't want to say all that
- 29:58Speaker 1: because in her mind, I think it makes her look bad.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But I think it's very human. I think Janelle could
- 30:05Speaker 1: have been like, well, in all honesty, what I felt
- 30:11Speaker 1: like I owed you and what the crux of that was,
- 30:15Speaker 1: was I wanted you to not trust him and to
- 30:17Speaker 1: take care of yourself legally. And I did that by
- 30:23Speaker 1: making sure that you heard when I said, get a lawyer.
- 30:27Speaker 1: What more do you want from me? I think that
- 30:30Speaker 1: would have been a lot more like truthful. I think
- 30:32Speaker 1: that she could have probably also delivered it by looking
- 30:34Speaker 1: at her in the face, which then would have been
- 30:37Speaker 1: weightless shifty than what we saw, which was shift D. Okay. So, um,
- 30:48Speaker 1: later Mary is not going through pictures. So they leave
- 30:50Speaker 1: that right. And then Mary gets whatever non-answer Mary gets. Okay. But,
- 30:56Speaker 1: Mary is now going through pictures because they'll have to
- 30:58Speaker 1: meet up with Jen. And there's like this weird scene
- 31:00Speaker 1: where like she's standing up and she's wearing like horrible
- 31:03Speaker 1: jeans and her like, you know, like kind of like
- 31:06Speaker 1: whole vaginas in front of like Jen. And she makes
- 31:08Speaker 1: a joke how Jen is going to bite her. And
- 31:12Speaker 1: she's like, you're going to bite me. You're going to
- 31:13Speaker 1: bite me in the butt. But like Jen's whole face
- 31:15Speaker 1: is like, you know, vag to face. So she's like, well,
- 31:17Speaker 1: if I bit you right now, it wouldn't be in
- 31:19Speaker 1: the butt. And then we all knew it'd be in
- 31:22Speaker 1: the badge. You'd be batting the badge. And I just
- 31:25Speaker 1: want to say that we picked up on that because
- 31:27Speaker 1: the editors kept it in because the editors like a
- 31:30Speaker 1: little like lesbian drama. Okay. They're going through pictures and,
- 31:35Speaker 1: you know, we get Mary being victim-y where she's like,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I wasn't allowed to do anything. I wasn't ever allowed
- 31:40Speaker 1: to be negative. You're not allowed to be negative. And
- 31:42Speaker 1: here's the thing. There's two things about this. Yes. Yes.
- 31:45Speaker 1: She feels like she wasn't able to give her true
- 31:48Speaker 1: opinion or whatever. But at the same time, I'm sure
- 31:51Speaker 1: she did. And I'm sure mostly her opinion was not
- 31:54Speaker 1: delivered in a positive or kind way. I feel like
- 31:56Speaker 1: her tone is always abrasive. She is an abrasive, grating person.
- 32:05Speaker 1: She doesn't know it. And I think that she doesn't
- 32:07Speaker 1: get it. She'll just be like... Okay, so because of that,
- 32:11Speaker 1: she frequently gets people not wanting to deal with her.
- 32:15Speaker 1: And I think it compounds this idea that she's not
- 32:17Speaker 1: allowed to express herself. It's because when upon expressing herself,
- 32:22Speaker 1: people were like, no more, I'm good. It's hard because
- 32:26Speaker 1: you want to be able to express yourself, but then
- 32:29Speaker 1: you want to pick and choose how much of someone's
- 32:34Speaker 1: energy you need to take. And someone's expression is, can
- 32:38Speaker 1: be a lot, right? And this is the part that
- 32:44Speaker 1: I hate to say, I looking back on my Christine
- 32:47Speaker 1: and Janelle had 45 screaming kids. So I think that
- 32:54Speaker 1: Mary's negative opinion was just every time, it was just
- 32:58Speaker 1: like bottom, like low priority. And I think everyone felt
- 33:01Speaker 1: that way. Okay. So Mary doesn't want to have to
- 33:05Speaker 1: bring all the pictures. She also doesn't understand what's going
- 33:07Speaker 1: to happen with the pictures. She thinks that people are
- 33:10Speaker 1: just going to scan the ones that she wants. She
- 33:11Speaker 1: doesn't think that she has to be the one that
- 33:13Speaker 1: gives up her pictures because, as Mary says, she was
- 33:15Speaker 1: the only one that cared about pictures. They wouldn't even
- 33:17Speaker 1: have any fucking pictures if it wasn't for Mary. In fact,
- 33:19Speaker 1: they had pictures up until people were like, stop it, Mary.
- 33:21Speaker 1: And then so she stopped. Now there's no more pictures.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But now they want her pictures because she's Mary. It's
- 33:25Speaker 1: a little bit of that. Okay. So next scene is
- 33:29Speaker 1: that Janelle is getting the keys to her brand new home.
- 33:31Speaker 1: The brand new home, of course, is like on the farm,
- 33:33Speaker 1: you know, where Maddie lives with Caleb. And there's a
- 33:37Speaker 1: lot of like Janelle making passive aggressive moments and, you know,
- 33:41Speaker 1: comments about Cody. And it's kind of like this, like,
- 33:45Speaker 1: it's just finally so nice to be working with people,
- 33:48Speaker 1: partners that are doers. And it's first of all, her
- 33:51Speaker 1: daughter and his husband, but also it's like this juxtaposition
- 33:56Speaker 1: about What was Coyote Pass, or what was supposed to
- 33:59Speaker 1: be Coyote Pass, and the new dream, the flower farm
- 34:02Speaker 1: dream of the Takata drums. Takata farms. Okay. Anyway, so
- 34:11Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, six years down the drain, honey. In
- 34:14Speaker 1: two years, everything's up. And I am happy for them,
- 34:18Speaker 1: but it's just, yeah, like it's, she... I realized she
- 34:22Speaker 1: felt like she never had like a partner in life
- 34:25Speaker 1: that she could rely on. And yet now she does
- 34:28Speaker 1: and it's her daughter, but at the same time, she
- 34:30Speaker 1: feels like she can also rely on herself. So it's
- 34:32Speaker 1: an interesting journey for Janelle. Her house is small and
- 34:36Speaker 1: her house on the inside looks nothing like I thought
- 34:39Speaker 1: it was going to be. Like it's all big one room, like,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you know, the kitchen, the living room, the dining room.
- 34:43Speaker 1: For some reason, like when I look at farmhouses, like
- 34:45Speaker 1: with porches like that, I just always consider them that
- 34:48Speaker 1: I think I'm going to see like individual rooms. But
- 34:53Speaker 1: maybe she's just always going to only be cooking at
- 34:54Speaker 1: Maddie's and she's just going to go back to there
- 34:55Speaker 1: to sleep. Honey, I don't know. Janelle's experience of her
- 34:59Speaker 1: new place is also very interesting. She sort of just
- 35:02Speaker 1: walks around the entire place with a scowl on her face.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Like she does not look happy. She's like this. Now,
- 35:13Speaker 1: if you're, of course, like on a podcast, you can't
- 35:16Speaker 1: tell what my face is doing, but just just make
- 35:19Speaker 1: a pained face and then like look around. Like that's
- 35:21Speaker 1: what was happening. And she's like, yeah, you know, I
- 35:23Speaker 1: just sort of sometimes disconnect or disassociate when big things happen.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It's like the way that I take it in. It's just,
- 35:29Speaker 1: it's the way I'm built, but I just have to observe.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And I really see that. I also feel like, I
- 35:34Speaker 1: wonder what that is in, like, I wonder what that is.
- 35:40Speaker 1: To sort of like disconnect in that way, to disassociate.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I wonder like if that is a reaction to something
- 35:46Speaker 1: in her life or her childhood. Anyway. So, you know,
- 35:53Speaker 1: when Janelle is like talking about the flower farm, she
- 35:57Speaker 1: also like, you know what? Coyote Pass was a dream.
- 36:01Speaker 1: And I dreamed that dream. I dreamed a dream in
- 36:07Speaker 1: time gone by. When Coney was high and life was... Okay,
- 36:17Speaker 1: I won't do it, but it was very much like that.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Her swan song. So then we get Christine's swan song,
- 36:23Speaker 1: which is this cluttering story, which is basically this. Everyone
- 36:26Speaker 1: got a clodder ring. Honey, they all did, which was like,
- 36:29Speaker 1: I think the Irishy kind of ring or I don't know,
- 36:31Speaker 1: because the Nordic ring or I'm not quite sure, UK ring,
- 36:34Speaker 1: clodder ring. And they all got diamonds in it. And
- 36:36Speaker 1: she wanted a diamond. So she talked to Cody and
- 36:38Speaker 1: she's like, can I get a diamond for my ring?
- 36:40Speaker 1: And he was like, we don't have money for that.
- 36:41Speaker 1: And then one time she's at church, she's also for Robin.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And she's like, what a pretty ring. And Robin's like, thanks.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Cody just put a diamond in it for me. It
- 36:51Speaker 1: was so nice that he thought about that. And that's
- 36:53Speaker 1: one of the reasons why Cody knows in his mind
- 36:55Speaker 1: who he gave diamonds to. And he is playing a
- 36:58Speaker 1: little fucked up game. Who deserves a diamond? Who doesn't?
- 37:00Speaker 1: And that is like this ultimate judgment that if he
- 37:04Speaker 1: thought was going to work, wasn't going to work. And
- 37:07Speaker 1: if he thought that like it was going to keep
- 37:08Speaker 1: people down, he should, you know, found out that that
- 37:11Speaker 1: wasn't going to keep Christine down. So she fucking chucked
- 37:15Speaker 1: that ring. She didn't want to fuck. But yeah, in
- 37:16Speaker 1: that moment, she was like, I hate him. And it's
- 37:19Speaker 1: interesting because she'll later have a conversation where she's like, yeah, Mary,
- 37:22Speaker 1: I remember being like, stay in this family. And it
- 37:27Speaker 1: was a conversation where Christine realizes two things. Christine realized
- 37:32Speaker 1: when the ring happened that he didn't give a fuck
- 37:34Speaker 1: about her and that she was holding on though, because
- 37:37Speaker 1: this whole time they wanted to like maybe go back
- 37:39Speaker 1: to Utah, but it was obviously illegal to be polygamous
- 37:43Speaker 1: in Utah. But then they were like, you guys can
- 37:44Speaker 1: come back. We will not like, put you in jail.
- 37:48Speaker 1: And she was like, great, you guys. And everyone was like, no,
- 37:51Speaker 1: I'm good. Now I'm gonna stay here. And then she
- 37:54Speaker 1: was like, oh no, fuck. These people are lying to me.
- 37:58Speaker 1: And then that's when Mary was like, don't get upset, Christine.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Just think about the heavenly celestial kingdom that we'll always
- 38:05Speaker 1: live with Cody with. And I think Christine was like,
- 38:09Speaker 1: oh no. Oh, I don't want to live with Cody
- 38:12Speaker 1: in my celestial kingdom forever. oh my God, I don't
- 38:16Speaker 1: even want to live in Coyote Pass. I just want
- 38:20Speaker 1: to be next to my family. And if I was
- 38:23Speaker 1: to be honest, fuck you guys, you're not it. Anyway,
- 38:28Speaker 1: so interesting. So the final scene of the episode is
- 38:36Speaker 1: like the buildup to this meetup where they're going to
- 38:40Speaker 1: exchange recipes. And when they said recipes, I'm like, oh
- 38:42Speaker 1: my God, they're going to be, what kind of recipes?
- 38:45Speaker 1: Is this going to be like a cooking show segment?
- 38:47Speaker 1: Because you know, like the recipes are not that good.
- 38:50Speaker 1: It is like Mary's like Rice Krispie Treats or something
- 38:52Speaker 1: like that. Okay. So the final meetup has happened like
- 38:57Speaker 1: in the mountains. They decided to like get an Airbnb,
- 38:59Speaker 1: which is also interesting to me. They were like, we
- 39:01Speaker 1: don't all want to be in the same place. I
- 39:02Speaker 1: don't want Mary in my home or something like that.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I don't know. And so they're all like driving up
- 39:08Speaker 1: like minivans and huge plastic storage boxes they all have
- 39:12Speaker 1: to carry by themselves. Yeah. I'm like, is there a
- 39:19Speaker 1: hot tub? Are you guys going to get drunk? Christine's like,
- 39:21Speaker 1: I don't really know what to do because I sort
- 39:23Speaker 1: of built, I sort of burned a bridge by saying
- 39:25Speaker 1: I never want to have to see her deal with
- 39:27Speaker 1: her again now I have to see you and deal
- 39:28Speaker 1: with her and Mary and her say the same thing
- 39:31Speaker 1: which is I guess coincidental that they're both like I'll
- 39:33Speaker 1: tell you what's not gonna happen we're not gonna hug
- 39:35Speaker 1: when we see each other Christine's like maybe at the
- 39:38Speaker 1: end but both of them are kind of like well
- 39:40Speaker 1: we got to see each other at weddings so we
- 39:42Speaker 1: just want to be able to be like okay cool
- 39:46Speaker 1: yeah like the haircut Reba early Reba cool That's a
- 39:50Speaker 1: Reddit comment. Someone said that Mary's hair looked like early Reba,
- 39:53Speaker 1: and I think it's really funny. But the Christine Baranski
- 39:57Speaker 1: comment is mine. All right, my babes. Thank you so
