- 0:39Speaker 1: Bootleg cap podcast man special guests in here. His new
- 0:42Speaker 1: album just drop last month. What was around Christmas?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Christmas Day?
- 0:46Speaker 3: On Christmas?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah, wrapping paper, wrapping paper.
- 0:51Speaker 3: So this is the sequel to Gift Wraps the first one.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yep, it is a sequeence like Gift Wraps two. We
- 0:56Speaker 2: even put Gift Raps two in the parentheses.
- 0:58Speaker 3: What was the first one like to that in twelve
- 1:00Speaker 3: and I.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Was like twelve thirteen, I want to say twelve.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's been a minute.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, why why make this project the sequel?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Did it just you feel like it just made sense?
- 1:13Speaker 1: Or was it did you go into it saying this
- 1:14Speaker 1: is going to be the sequel or was it like
- 1:17Speaker 1: once you started making and you're like, oh this.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Kind of yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I mean every year we have an opportunity, me and
- 1:24Speaker 2: Chuck had an opportunity to drop wrapping Paper because we've
- 1:26Speaker 2: been had this plan, We've had a touch yeah, but
- 1:30Speaker 2: we just would miss the mark at the like like
- 1:33Speaker 2: we would like realize it's too late. I would hit
- 1:35Speaker 2: him up like in November like oh shit, we should
- 1:37Speaker 2: drive wrapping paper, and then it just wouldn't be enough time.
- 1:39Speaker 2: But this year we really was like, noah, let's do it,
- 1:42Speaker 2: like from like months and months prior, so are we
- 1:47Speaker 2: going to make this year to be the year we
- 1:48Speaker 2: drive wrapping paper? And we just got it done.
- 1:51Speaker 1: So cause he's been on the on. He put out
- 1:53Speaker 1: a cool kids album this year, he just got off tour. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: you guys were all like this whole year, it's all
- 1:58Speaker 1: already kind of been in the cars that this was
- 1:59Speaker 1: going to come out.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, going into the holiday.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. He was on him and Mikey was
- 2:03Speaker 2: on the road, and and I was just busy with
- 2:08Speaker 2: with a bunch of stuff I was doing, man writing,
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm writing a couple of films and like just doing
- 2:14Speaker 2: a bunch of shitting between the albums. But our times
- 2:18Speaker 2: just aligned. This year was like all right, let's go,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Is this all like stuff that's just been sitting on
- 2:24Speaker 1: our drive that you guys had done or is it new?
- 2:27Speaker 2: No, it's new.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:28Speaker 2: We had a couple of records that we that I
- 2:30Speaker 2: started recording years ago, but only one of them made
- 2:33Speaker 2: the album and the rest of them are are all
- 2:35Speaker 2: new records, you know what I mean. Like we we
- 2:39Speaker 2: started it, you know, it was a few Like like
- 2:42Speaker 2: I said, every year on around Christmas, we just like
- 2:44Speaker 2: start off a little too late.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Do you feel like because I feel like, you know,
- 2:49Speaker 1: shout to Chuck because Chuck is one of those underrated producers.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Every Yeah, Chuck English.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Do you feel like it's a different dynamic than like
- 2:57Speaker 1: like working just like solely with the single producer when
- 3:00Speaker 1: you like sit down and do like Okay, we're doing
- 3:02Speaker 1: the whole album as opposed to like, you know, piecing
- 3:05Speaker 1: together with different guys.
- 3:06Speaker 2: It's honestly, I feel like it's better to have everything
- 3:11Speaker 2: come from one producer. It's probably easier, easier too, but
- 3:15Speaker 2: you just can deliver a sound instead of like a
- 3:19Speaker 2: medley of your picks, you know what I mean, try
- 3:22Speaker 2: to make that into a sound, you know what I mean. So,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I mean it's really no right or wrong way to
- 3:28Speaker 2: do it. But for this being a sequel, you know,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I had to really it was like give raps is
- 3:33Speaker 2: a hard act to follow, you know what I mean. So,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and they don't even have no features on it. So
- 3:39Speaker 2: I was like, yo, we got to really make this
- 3:42Speaker 2: like compete. You know, you gotta go. You gotta go
- 3:45Speaker 2: against old Chuck. That's what I told him, Like, you
- 3:47Speaker 2: got to go against against yourself. Yeah, so he was like,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I'll beat Old Chuck's ass, That's what he says.
- 3:53Speaker 1: What he said, I mean, and you got dope features
- 3:55Speaker 1: on here, Oh yeah, yeah, I mean you got the
- 3:58Speaker 1: Cleveland guy shout to Kels.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Was it hard to get kills?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Like getting rapper mode when he's like running around the
- 4:03Speaker 1: world is a pop star now and like a rocker like.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Man, you know what kills he He is a maniac
- 4:09Speaker 2: man artistically, Like, he just can't be stopped no matter
- 4:12Speaker 2: what's going on, whether it's switching genres or whatever. He's
- 4:16Speaker 2: he's ready a ready, acting up. Yeah, So it's really
- 4:20Speaker 2: no stopping him. And he was up for the challenge.
- 4:22Speaker 2: He he was you know, once he once I told him,
- 4:24Speaker 2: he was like, let's go. So it wasn't really hard
- 4:28Speaker 2: to pull everybody together, which was a blessing, man, you
- 4:31Speaker 2: know what I mean, because really people don't know how
- 4:33Speaker 2: hard it is to pull artists together, you know. And
- 4:37Speaker 2: all of them came in and really just looked out
- 4:39Speaker 2: for me, man, So you know, shout out to everybody.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Was you, because I feel like early on, like MGK
- 4:44Speaker 1: was a pretty like outspoken guy. Yeah, did it take
- 4:50Speaker 1: a while for like you and Cutty to kind of
- 4:52Speaker 1: get aligned with him, like in terms of like you
- 4:54Speaker 1: guys being on the same page and like rocking with
- 4:57Speaker 1: each other.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's it's it's all a part
- 4:59Speaker 2: of this, you know what I mean. And I think
- 5:01Speaker 2: that's what makes it so beautiful. You know.
- 5:05Speaker 3: When mg came in the game, he was talking about it.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I mean, but that's what hip hop is about for sure.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Like he backed it up. It's not a crazy career.
- 5:14Speaker 2: It's like it's one of the things where I appreciate
- 5:17Speaker 2: it because that's what gives everything. It's substance, you know
- 5:21Speaker 2: what I mean. Like I said, this whole part of
- 5:22Speaker 2: the story, Like you know, you see how everything on
- 5:25Speaker 2: folds till now, Like this is how it's supposed to be.
- 5:27Speaker 2: If it was peachy the whole time, it wouldn't be
- 5:30Speaker 2: such an uproar, right, you know what I mean. So,
- 5:32Speaker 2: like I think that's the beautiful thing about it. Man.
- 5:35Speaker 2: But me and Cale has always been great though, you
- 5:37Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I mean, I always tell people this.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He's like one of the most solid, never switched up,
- 5:43Speaker 1: great dudes in music.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Man, he's a real dude too, man, you know what
- 5:47Speaker 2: I mean, real guy, Yeah, real yeah, shots. We are
- 5:50Speaker 2: real you know, come from Ohio. That's how that's how
- 5:52Speaker 2: we are.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Man.
- 5:53Speaker 2: We don't care about the fan or none of that.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Like we got Man, who do you have if you
- 6:03Speaker 1: were to remove yourself out of the conversation, Who's who's
- 6:06Speaker 1: in the Cleveland mount Rushmore?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Oh? If I remove myself Cleveland Mount Rushmore, Now that's
- 6:13Speaker 2: hip hop hip hop. Okay, now we're narrowing it down. Well,
- 6:18Speaker 2: does Bone.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Fish got otherwise there there it's all for.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And they can't cut you have a monument in front
- 6:28Speaker 3: of the capitol. Otherwise the real Mount rush it's just.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Five.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Then you got flesh up there too, you know.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, damn Okay Mount Rushmore. Let's see, it's tough because
- 6:41Speaker 2: how many spots are four? Okay?
- 6:44Speaker 3: Fo uh.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Now my Mount Rushmore is predicated on pioneer ship if
- 6:57Speaker 2: that's a word, you.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Know what I mean, for the for the for the city.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, So so we're gonna go with uh
- 7:05Speaker 2: mc brains is one of the rappers that I heard
- 7:10Speaker 2: Crazy Bones said he was aspiring to be like you
- 7:14Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like, so I would have to
- 7:17Speaker 2: put him then, of course bone would get that second
- 7:21Speaker 2: slot third in hip hop. I would have to go
- 7:26Speaker 2: with Ray Cash.
- 7:29Speaker 3: That album was so fire.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, I was on there a little bit,
- 7:34Speaker 2: like my voice was on there. I was pumped, like
- 7:35Speaker 2: I was so happy about that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Man.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That was a great project. What was it called Cash
- 7:38Speaker 3: on Delivery? Yeah?
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I went and brought that out the record store
- 7:42Speaker 2: when it still had record store.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Very very good album.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, man, shout to the Kick drums too. They produced it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: But yeah, I would go, I would go, Ray Cash,
- 7:51Speaker 2: that's three right.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yep, one more and I got one more.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That's hard.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You gotta kind of put Cuddy in there. You gotta
- 8:02Speaker 3: kind of right, It's like.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I want it's yeah, of course, yeah,
- 8:07Speaker 2: I want to put Cuddy in there. But you said
- 8:12Speaker 2: take me out, You're gonna take yourself out. Yeah, So
- 8:14Speaker 2: I mean yeah, we could pioneership. Yeah, that's so. So
- 8:18Speaker 2: it's gonna go mc brains bone thus of harmony, Ray
- 8:23Speaker 2: Cash and Kid cutting it.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And I mean, like I said, I wish I could
- 8:28Speaker 2: keep going because you know, it's a lot of rappers
- 8:32Speaker 2: even now today that's opening the door for new new artists.
- 8:36Speaker 2: It ain't just us no more, you know what I mean. Now,
- 8:38Speaker 2: it's like people holding that door for the for the
- 8:41Speaker 2: next artist, which is which is what I love to see,
- 8:44Speaker 2: you know what I mean. It's a guy in Cleveland.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He goes around all the uh Target stores and he
- 8:50Speaker 2: go up to people and he asks them who's their
- 8:52Speaker 2: favorite Cleveland artists. His brand is called hardest in the city.
- 8:57Speaker 2: But like that's where that's where I go to really
- 8:59Speaker 2: like see who's really popping, you know what I mean.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Dope boy's been doing this thing for boy.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, dope boy. You got a guy named No
- 9:06Speaker 2: Love China. Man, It's it's a lot. It's a lot
- 9:10Speaker 2: of dope artists come from the city.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Man, are you Are you on the Shador train?
- 9:15Speaker 2: I love Shador man?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah? Is he? Is he the future?
- 9:19Speaker 2: I think so? I think so.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You know at all the quarterbacks you guys have had, Yeah,
- 9:24Speaker 1: it's been some bad ones. Here's the lowest QBR That's
- 9:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And it's like, no, no, that's not good.
- 9:31Speaker 1: He's like eighteen QBR.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Oh oh oh yeah, yeah, what's talking about.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I'm just curious because they fired Stefanski. I'm like, what
- 9:39Speaker 1: are they gonna do? And ship are they picking a
- 9:41Speaker 1: quarterback in the first round. It's a bad draft to
- 9:43Speaker 1: pick a quarter I think you give s your door
- 9:44Speaker 1: a full season to see if yah.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I feel like they took him out the game for
- 9:48Speaker 2: a while, you know what I mean, when we first
- 9:50Speaker 2: got in and got that win, and then they like
- 9:52Speaker 2: satting down.
- 9:53Speaker 1: They gotta they gotta just give him a year you
- 9:56Speaker 1: all drafted to because he ain't him or dying Gabriel.
- 9:59Speaker 3: You gotta give give him a shot to keep.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah, give him, give him a little consistency where we
- 10:03Speaker 2: can you know, where he can get some sake.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Trade Miles Garrett, Man, Miles Garrett.
- 10:07Speaker 2: He just hit that.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Get him out of this.
- 10:09Speaker 2: What's it called the record for sack.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yes, he's gonna be like Joe Thomas.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Bro Joe Thomas, one of the greatest offensive linemen of
- 10:16Speaker 1: all times, spent his whole career in Cleveland playing me
- 10:18Speaker 1: and it was game.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah. You want to see him get a win, Send
- 10:22Speaker 2: him somewhere where he could get a ring or something. Man,
- 10:26Speaker 2: we're gonna get man. Look, I'm telling you the one
- 10:27Speaker 2: thing about the Browns fan, Man, it's like, ain't no
- 10:30Speaker 2: greater glory, just like the Calves. When the Calves won
- 10:33Speaker 2: it's twenty sixteen. It wasn't no greater glory than when
- 10:36Speaker 2: we had that win because we.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Get it, but you get but you guys have Lebron Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: like two thousand and five.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you guys.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean, look, I'm a I'm an Arizona sports fan,
- 10:48Speaker 1: so I have told him to talk where like Brown's
- 10:50Speaker 1: junior with the Cardinals.
- 10:52Speaker 3: We fucking suck.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I used to I used to like, uh Randy Johnson,
- 10:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, great, great picture for the Arizondonda. He
- 11:01Speaker 2: had that mustache. He wasn't playing.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Did you ever see him throw?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 11:06Speaker 3: He killed it, killed the bird. Fucking crazy.
- 11:09Speaker 2: He was the man though. He was like eight feet tall.
- 11:13Speaker 2: What's the new? The new?
- 11:14Speaker 3: Uh? The Indians aren't the Indians? What are they now? Commanded?
- 11:19Speaker 1: No?
- 11:19Speaker 2: No, they're the Guardians, bro, Guardians, Guardians. Man, that's real
- 11:23Speaker 2: and real Cleveland. There's gonna feel when I say this.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Man, that's I don't even think they make retro like
- 11:29Speaker 1: Indians hats anymore.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Such a dope log.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It's a heartbreak.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a classic.
- 11:35Speaker 2: It's like, man, it's crazy. Man, that's a that's a
- 11:38Speaker 2: crazy story.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Man. They're good. The Guardians are good.
- 11:41Speaker 2: They're really good. They're really good. They're really good.
- 11:43Speaker 3: You know what I meant? A hockey team in Cleveland. No,
- 11:45Speaker 3: Columbus we got that, we got the we's had a monsters.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I don't know if we still got Columbus has a
- 11:50Speaker 3: hockey team. Yeah, Columbus does, or maybe they went there.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Maybe I think they're called the Columbus. I don't know
- 11:56Speaker 1: all mohammies from Columbus AF fucking yeah. We used to
- 11:59Speaker 1: have a stage and then there's a there's a hockey team.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Cook.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Can we confirmn's the DJ Highlight and Doobie in Columbus, Ohio.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, out to Columbus, man, Columbus moving right now.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Hey, we got to stop the interview to tell you
- 12:12Speaker 1: about our good folks, odd Socks.

- 12:25Speaker 1: years I have used are these odd socks Basics. Now,
- 12:29Speaker 1: what odd Socks is doing is they're kind of reinventing
- 12:31Speaker 1: the sock game, if we're being honest, and the underwear game.

- 14:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you got some dope features on here.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Like when it comes to the fat the Fat Raps four,
- 14:07Speaker 1: was it like one putting all those guys on the
- 14:09Speaker 1: song together?
- 14:10Speaker 3: How hard was it?
- 14:11Speaker 1: And who who's the toughest verse to get over the
- 14:13Speaker 1: finish line before the album came out?
- 14:15Speaker 2: Toughest verse to get over the finish line before the
- 14:17Speaker 2: album came out was MGK Verse only because of time,
- 14:24Speaker 2: because he was on tour and he went out and
- 14:28Speaker 2: got some equipment and set up just to do fat
- 14:30Speaker 2: raps for just for the Verse, just on tour. And
- 14:34Speaker 2: I was crazy, you know what I mean. But the
- 14:35Speaker 2: first person who stepped up to the plate was Denzel Curry.
- 14:39Speaker 2: M Dinzel Curry stepped up.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He is crazy, man.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I was in the man I was. We were in
- 14:50Speaker 2: the studio together, so I was like trying to keep
- 14:53Speaker 2: my composure and not make no noise because like it's
- 14:56Speaker 2: gonna pick up the sound. But I was like, damg,
- 14:58Speaker 2: he going crazy here right now.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And he's one of the best live performers.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Yeah he is, you know, he know real jiu jitsu.
- 15:05Speaker 3: It's not jiu jitsu. He knows, he knows muy Thai
- 15:07Speaker 3: muy Thai.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, one of the fucker will kill you.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I was in Thailand with him like twenty twenty
- 15:14Speaker 1: four and he was like, yeah, I come here all
- 15:16Speaker 1: the time to train, and I'm like what. He's like, yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 1: like whatever belt he is like, I'm like, oh, you're
- 15:22Speaker 1: fucking He's like no, like I came to Thailand and trained.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he's for real with that shit. Karate O your
- 15:28Speaker 2: head fucking around with Denzel Curry with Denzel nah.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Because that muy Thai ship is like I feel like
- 15:34Speaker 1: more Thai is the m m A or the martial art,
- 15:37Speaker 1: whatever you're gonna call it. That's like best applicable the
- 15:40Speaker 1: street fights. Yeah, yeah, that ship is. They call it
- 15:43Speaker 1: the art of eight limbs, the muy Thai. Right, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 1: that's what the elbows and ship it's over then. Yeah,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I elbowed a heavy bag. I saw the difference. I'm like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: when I first tried that shit, let me try more time.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I'm like, oh no. We went to some like Multai
- 15:57Speaker 1: fights in Patong Beach and there was like ten year
- 15:59Speaker 1: old kids feeding a living.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Ship out of each other. It was fucking crazy. We
- 16:06Speaker 3: saw like ten fights.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Two of them or were kids, but nine out of
- 16:10Speaker 1: the ten fights in it in cold knockouts.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Damn motherfuckers. Yeah, elbows, elbows to the head.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Man. I went to Thailand. I didn't get to catch
- 16:19Speaker 2: any fights though, but or something else. No, man, I
- 16:25Speaker 2: ain't even because they said there was something about the
- 16:27Speaker 2: you know, you gotta be careful, you know, so I
- 16:29Speaker 2: was like, I'm cool, you know what I'm saying.
- 16:31Speaker 3: But you know, Thailand's beautiful. I don't know what part
- 16:33Speaker 3: you went to I was.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I was in Bangkok, then I went to.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Wire where'd you go?
- 16:41Speaker 2: I went right before the Like when I came back
- 16:44Speaker 2: from Thailand, the whole country shut down, like ty is nice.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like it was.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Crazy because it's like it was no sign of the
- 16:53Speaker 2: COVID anything when we left, but then when we came back,
- 16:56Speaker 2: it was.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Like and then you're in Asia where it's like super
- 16:59Speaker 1: everyone's I'm thinking, like, Okay, if it's coming from this way,
- 17:01Speaker 1: why these people shut down? Like Thailand is different, dog
- 17:06Speaker 1: ain't like you know, like Japan, and I feel like
- 17:08Speaker 1: China they're very very very like Thailand has just turned up.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Let me tell you something I like about Thailand and
- 17:15Speaker 2: something I don't. I like the people. Man, It feel
- 17:18Speaker 2: like they just reel down to earth, you know what
- 17:20Speaker 2: I mean. And they don't. They ain't with no bullshit.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Like if you lost in the directions, they'll walk off
- 17:25Speaker 2: on you. They won't even answer you like they real
- 17:28Speaker 2: they real people. But it's smell like doodoo sometimes when
- 17:32Speaker 2: you're there.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I mean it smells like dude sometimes
- 17:36Speaker 3: in La.
- 17:37Speaker 2: True that night smell like hot garbage in La and
- 17:40Speaker 2: fetnah and human.
- 17:44Speaker 1: La got its parts and just pissed. Just walk walk
- 17:49Speaker 1: down fucking you know any Spring Street and Saturday.
- 17:57Speaker 2: It's a piss factory.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Sniff All that human homeless pitch mixed was fatin off smooth.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I don't know if they got.
- 18:04Speaker 1: The probably got fed on Thailand. Oh yeah, what I
- 18:06Speaker 1: don't know. I know that they fired that ship up
- 18:08Speaker 1: out there, probably.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Lit though shouts to Thailand.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I was on the took took, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:13Speaker 2: All the little little tax killed things. They drive crazy
- 18:17Speaker 2: out there for sure.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Yo. When you watch the did you watch the Diddy documentary?
- 18:23Speaker 2: I did so.
- 18:25Speaker 1: When they brought up like him breaking into Cuddy's house,
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like from you're not You're obviously really close with Cuddy.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Did that ship like happened the way? Like from what
- 18:34Speaker 1: you know? Do you like that ship's like this motherfuckers
- 18:36Speaker 1: in there opening presence?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 18:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean from I wasn't there when he was
- 18:41Speaker 2: opening the presence when when I came in, I mean,
- 18:45Speaker 2: because of course now we passed that part. So I
- 18:48Speaker 2: mean I didn't say nothing for thirteen years, right, I
- 18:50Speaker 2: mean all this, I didn't mention none of it. But yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 2: I took the pictures that they used in court. Oh really, yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 2: those are those of my pictures because he, you know,
- 19:00Speaker 2: I had to just you know, he and me up
- 19:02Speaker 2: was like yoall go check on this. And I went
- 19:03Speaker 2: up there and I'm like, whoa, this is crazy. But
- 19:07Speaker 2: i didn't see him in the house or anything like that.
- 19:09Speaker 1: So you get to the house and like someone's obviously
- 19:13Speaker 1: been inside.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah no, no, no, no, I don't know about the inside.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I just went I was just in the in the driveway.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Are you talking about when the car got set on fire?
- 19:22Speaker 2: Well, I'm I came after that.
- 19:23Speaker 3: But but okay, So because because there was a day.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I think when that there was like the girl who
- 19:29Speaker 1: testified his old assistant who said there was like a
- 19:32Speaker 1: time like she pretty much got kidnapped. They went up
- 19:35Speaker 1: to Cuddy's house and he went into the house and
- 19:38Speaker 1: was like fucking with the dogs and like opening presents.
- 19:42Speaker 1: But then a car got blown up. I don't are
- 19:46Speaker 1: were those two separate things or one thing?
- 19:48Speaker 3: Not sure? So when did you Which day did you
- 19:50Speaker 3: get called? Was there a blown up car?
- 19:52Speaker 2: It was the with the pictures that you saw? Oh
- 19:54Speaker 2: that's what I saw, you know what I mean?
- 19:56Speaker 1: The car? Yeah, so you you came to the scene
- 19:58Speaker 1: and you see the car, Yeah, you're.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Taking the first responded, oh, ship. And then and then
- 20:03Speaker 2: like you know, then like the like the fire trucks
- 20:05Speaker 2: starts showing up and everything.
- 20:06Speaker 1: But what kind of the night do you get this call? Like, yo,
- 20:09Speaker 1: this is broad day, broad daylight? Did it look like
- 20:14Speaker 1: someone like like it was some arts and ship.
- 20:18Speaker 2: It looked like a bad job. It looked like somebody
- 20:21Speaker 2: didn't know what they were doing really, but they were
- 20:23Speaker 2: just mad.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Damn. Do you think it was him that did it
- 20:27Speaker 3: or do you think he had someone do it?
- 20:28Speaker 2: I couldn't tell you. I don't know.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I mean cut he gotta have some ring cams in
- 20:32Speaker 3: that motherfucker.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Man.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I would hope this.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Was like you know what I'm saying, that.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Had to be a crazy thing.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Like when you're like like because at that time, twenty twelve,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I feel like like you said, like you could get
- 20:46Speaker 1: away with a lot more ship because the world's not
- 20:48Speaker 1: as surveyed, like right now you have fucking the snitch
- 20:51Speaker 1: Facebook classes.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Oh no, you ain't Facebook.
- 20:54Speaker 3: You in your fucking glasses.
- 20:56Speaker 2: He's come from Ali Baba.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Shot you come up on for the low.
- 21:02Speaker 1: No, But I'm saying, like twelve, you could, I mean,
- 21:06Speaker 1: motherfuckers can move around with a lot more like and
- 21:09Speaker 1: get away with straight up.
- 21:10Speaker 2: It's different now even even in Cleveland they got this
- 21:12Speaker 2: thing called Raven, and Raven is some type of uh
- 21:19Speaker 2: equipment electronic technical techn you no tech equipment or whatever
- 21:24Speaker 2: that's in the ghetto.
- 21:26Speaker 3: And it has facial recognition.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Well no, this every time anytime a gun is fired,
- 21:32Speaker 2: it basically alert where it happened and who did it.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And in the same go for like like if you
- 21:39Speaker 2: got a stolen car, it'll like read your plates and
- 21:41Speaker 2: then it'll let them know like oh, yeah, stolen car
- 21:44Speaker 2: just came into city.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Oh we saw like it reads the place. If you
- 21:46Speaker 1: report your car stolen, there's cameras, yep. Sof it drives by.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yep, if you get picked up by the camp.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Man.
- 21:53Speaker 3: I don't like the surveilling state ship.
- 21:55Speaker 2: I mean, you got to do the right thing, man,
- 21:57Speaker 2: Spike Lee tried to tell you. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:59Speaker 2: We ain't listening. You know, I started listening, you know.
- 22:03Speaker 2: But if you do the right thing, you ain't really
- 22:05Speaker 2: got to worry about nothing for real. But I mean,
- 22:07Speaker 2: I really don't like all of the surveilling and watching
- 22:10Speaker 2: and the Big Brother and all of that.
- 22:13Speaker 3: It's like, and now there's drones and ship when.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You're being watched, It's really like, at what point do
- 22:20Speaker 2: we draw the line? Because we keep pushing the envelope
- 22:23Speaker 2: further and further and just blame it on technology.
- 22:26Speaker 1: The only time I felt bad for Drake during the
- 22:28Speaker 1: whole you know, his last couple of years was when
- 22:31Speaker 1: he was chilling in Australia and some fucking just flies
- 22:36Speaker 1: on his satio and he's like on the hundredth floor
- 22:39Speaker 1: and he's like, what the F. I'm like, come on, man, Like,
- 22:43Speaker 1: poor guy, Like if he was up there, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 1: rubbing one out, you know what I mean, Like he.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Could have been.
- 22:49Speaker 2: It's getting crazy, man, drones. I've seen people hooking up
- 22:53Speaker 2: guns to him and.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's getting crazy. So I want to I
- 22:57Speaker 1: want to close the chapter on the on the cutting
- 22:59Speaker 1: thing because it is interesting. I think it's one of
- 23:00Speaker 1: the biggest stories of the year. So you show so
- 23:03Speaker 1: cud he hits you, hey, something's going on at the
- 23:05Speaker 1: house or did he already know that the car was
- 23:10Speaker 1: He just said to the you know, yeah, yeah, he
- 23:12Speaker 1: just yeah, because you're in town. I'm sure he's not
- 23:14Speaker 1: in town.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah I was. I was. I just so happened
- 23:17Speaker 2: to be in the area.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And and at the time I didn't live too far anyway,
- 23:22Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So so you put up to the house cars cooked, Yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you call the cops.
- 23:29Speaker 2: No, okay, no, Like a neighbor was had stepped out too,
- 23:33Speaker 2: and we were both like, you know what I mean,
- 23:35Speaker 2: it started becoming a thing, and like then it started
- 23:37Speaker 2: becoming the show.
- 23:38Speaker 1: You know, like did you have any idea, like any
- 23:40Speaker 1: idea that like there was this thing with like Cassie
- 23:43Speaker 1: and like the Diddy shit was like could potentially become
- 23:46Speaker 1: messy as just being close to the situation being a
- 23:49Speaker 1: homeade cuddies.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I didn't know. It was really nothing that I've seen.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I mean in the way we move, like we'd been
- 23:55Speaker 2: moving like world leaders, you know what I mean? Right,
- 23:57Speaker 2: we really don't be like announcing a lot of the
- 23:59Speaker 2: things we do, even though they really cool things or
- 24:02Speaker 2: like really interesting or like I don't And I thought
- 24:05Speaker 2: that was just me. But then it was like I
- 24:07Speaker 2: noticed that he was like that too, and I think
- 24:09Speaker 2: that's why we do That's why we clicked too, because
- 24:11Speaker 2: we weren't really like superficial in that way. We just
- 24:14Speaker 2: so a lot of things that was really cool that
- 24:16Speaker 2: would happen. I wouldn't know he would, you know, I
- 24:19Speaker 2: would find out like, oh you went through it. Oh yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 2: yeah I did that the other day, Like damn, that's crazy,
- 24:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean. We weren't. We weren't really
- 24:26Speaker 2: boasting like that. So he ain't come to me and
- 24:27Speaker 2: like yo goods like it was just around. Nah, I
- 24:31Speaker 2: didn't never met her.
- 24:33Speaker 1: No, Hey, we got to wrap up this interview another
- 24:36Speaker 1: one presented by Hardan.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Baby you already know what it is.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Shout out to Hardeen for presenting another episode of the
- 24:42Speaker 1: bootle Like podcast. Don't forget when you're in Vegas, you're
- 24:44Speaker 1: getting that tax, you getting that uber say take me
- 24:46Speaker 1: to Harden, the number one cannabis dispensary in the world.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Premium selection of the craziest gas you could ever ask for,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and then they break down all what all the terps mean.
- 24:56Speaker 1: It's incredible. Go to hard Dean Underscore Las Vegas, shoot
- 24:59Speaker 1: him a file and when you're in Las Vegas and
- 25:01Speaker 1: make sure you shoot them a visit. It's crazy because
- 25:03Speaker 1: like you have been a part of like so many
- 25:08Speaker 1: historical points in like hip hop. If you think about
- 25:10Speaker 1: just like the blog area in general, and do some
- 25:12Speaker 1: of the albums that you've been on, Like you're on
- 25:14Speaker 1: Freddy's first album, Well, I guess Straight Killer is not
- 25:16Speaker 1: really the album.
- 25:16Speaker 3: It's like eight songs.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I mean, I thought there was an album it was no.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I mean it's the first album I ever got thanked
- 25:21Speaker 1: in the credits fire and then obviously the cutty stuff
- 25:27Speaker 1: you're on Detroit. You're on so much shit, do you
- 25:31Speaker 1: when you think back to like the era of like
- 25:35Speaker 1: just like the Too Dope Boys, the No Rights and
- 25:38Speaker 1: just like there was so much free music getting dropped
- 25:41Speaker 1: and I don't even think anybody really realized like we're
- 25:43Speaker 1: in an era where you could tour and make real
- 25:45Speaker 1: money off of like just putting out a fucking zip.
- 25:49Speaker 3: File of an album. Yeah what what?
- 25:53Speaker 1: What is your favorite part about that whole kind of
- 25:56Speaker 1: just era of hip hop that you were able to
- 25:57Speaker 1: kind of just see with your own eyes and be
- 25:59Speaker 1: active participating, because I do think it is the best
- 26:01Speaker 1: era in my opinion.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too, man. I think you know
- 26:05Speaker 2: the blog era or you know the era that I
- 26:08Speaker 2: came in, you know, from what I could see, was
- 26:11Speaker 2: really like the first time someone could just like broadcast
- 26:15Speaker 2: themselves out on the on the same platform as like
- 26:18Speaker 2: the people that was on like the major independent. Yeah,
- 26:22Speaker 2: it was the first of that. I remember the first
- 26:24Speaker 2: time because I started putting my music on DSPs in
- 26:28Speaker 2: two thousand and nine.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:29Speaker 2: So, there was a friend of mine, his name was uh,
- 26:33Speaker 2: his name was an architect. He was like, Yo, I
- 26:36Speaker 2: got a song that's on iTunes. I'm like, what, because
- 26:38Speaker 2: I'm buzzing at the time. I mean Cleveland. I'm like
- 26:41Speaker 2: Ship the Ripper, but I'm not on iTunes, you know
- 26:43Speaker 2: what I mean. I didn't even think that was an option,
- 26:45Speaker 2: but I'm going crazy. So once I found that out,
- 26:50Speaker 2: oh man, Yeah, I used my Uh. I didn't even
- 26:53Speaker 2: have a credit card. You had to have a credit
- 26:54Speaker 2: card for ten dollars for a tone corps and have
- 26:58Speaker 2: a credit kid been around for So I use my
- 27:01Speaker 2: son's mother's credit card for that ten dollars and uploaded
- 27:06Speaker 2: Bitch I Feel Good one of my singles, and the
- 27:09Speaker 2: rest is history.
- 27:10Speaker 3: That's crazy. Yeah, what was uh? What was it like
- 27:15Speaker 3: being around the early like Cuddy days? Did you guys?
- 27:21Speaker 1: Because I don't know how because I always tell people this,
- 27:23Speaker 1: like I think Kanye throughout his career, you can kind
- 27:27Speaker 1: of point to most of his albums and he's kind
- 27:30Speaker 1: of like sampled people's energies that's been around him. Like
- 27:33Speaker 1: I think like he sampled Chance to Rapp her a
- 27:35Speaker 1: little bit on you know, the Life of Pablo Travis
- 27:38Speaker 1: on Jesus. But I think obviously eight O eight's is
- 27:42Speaker 1: like that's just kid cutty. Like it's like if you're
- 27:45Speaker 1: a kid cutting fan at that time, you know a
- 27:47Speaker 1: kid named Cuddy and all that shit. You're like, oh,
- 27:49Speaker 1: this is like Kanye's rendition of like Cuddy kind of
- 27:53Speaker 1: you know, definitely, But can you just kind of describe
- 27:56Speaker 1: because I think at that time you probably y'all don't
- 27:58Speaker 1: really realize y'all are like make in history.
- 28:01Speaker 2: And that's the thing. Yeah, we we had no idea.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I was telling somebody the other day when when we
- 28:06Speaker 2: did just what I Am, which is double platinum crazy,
- 28:08Speaker 2: you know what I mean. I was writing the lyrics
- 28:11Speaker 2: and when I got to neighbors knocking on the door
- 28:15Speaker 2: asking can we turn it down? I say, ain't no
- 28:17Speaker 2: music on? She's say no, that weed is loud. I
- 28:20Speaker 2: was like, man, that shit is corny. I'm about to
- 28:22Speaker 2: take this out the verse. This is weak. Like they're
- 28:25Speaker 2: gonna laugh when they hear that. They're gonna be like,
- 28:26Speaker 2: what that was whack like? But like you said, I
- 28:28Speaker 2: had no idea what I was doing, and that would
- 28:31Speaker 2: have been the dumbest thing to take that out. But
- 28:34Speaker 2: it's just like, you know, it's all natural, you know
- 28:37Speaker 2: what I mean. Everything is organic. It's not like we
- 28:40Speaker 2: trying to like sound. We're not comparing ourselves to any
- 28:43Speaker 2: other sound. It's all real and it's influenced by none
- 28:48Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 28:49Speaker 3: So are you are you a part of any of
- 28:52Speaker 3: those eight o weight sessions?
- 28:56Speaker 2: Oh No, I wasn't. I wasn't around when they when
- 28:59Speaker 2: they made that. I was. I was shit, Probably was
- 29:02Speaker 2: somewhere running around on tour or something like because that
- 29:05Speaker 2: way year was that.
- 29:07Speaker 3: That was so if Man on the Moon wash eight
- 29:11Speaker 3: eight O eight's was oh seven.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, I was. Let me see it
- 29:20Speaker 2: probably was like oh eight shit, I was, man, we
- 29:23Speaker 2: were doing ninety shows a year man around that time,
- 29:26Speaker 2: like I was moving.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of crazy because, like I do think
- 29:32Speaker 1: the first Man on the Moon album is like, yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: it's to some like that's like a life changing album
- 29:37Speaker 1: for a lot of people, Like a lot of like that.
- 29:39Speaker 1: People are so passionate about that project in particular.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Yeah, they'll fucking die about that album.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Like I've got like people get into real real arguments
- 29:48Speaker 1: like it's Lebron and Kobe.
- 29:49Speaker 2: You know, straight up that album is crazy.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Man.
- 29:52Speaker 2: You know I remember when I when I was you know,
- 29:55Speaker 2: during that time, uh when when Higher because hires on there,
- 30:00Speaker 2: I played it for him when he came to the
- 30:01Speaker 2: crib and he was like, y'all need this for the album.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I was like, take it, yeah, you know what I mean,
- 30:07Speaker 2: Like sometimes you just gotta like the best things that
- 30:10Speaker 2: I've ever done was like for myself was not trying
- 30:12Speaker 2: to like hold onto things too tight, you know what
- 30:15Speaker 2: I mean, right, because cain't nothing better coming on hand
- 30:19Speaker 2: if it's closed tight, you know what I mean. So
- 30:22Speaker 2: you know, I'll let that record fly. But you know,
- 30:25Speaker 2: during that time, that was like the what'd you would
- 30:29Speaker 2: you consider that blog era still.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Early because I think OW eight was like, oh wait,
- 30:34Speaker 1: it's like cool kids Cuddy, Yeah, I mean because there
- 30:37Speaker 1: was a kidnap. I feel like a kidnamed Cuddy was
- 30:39Speaker 1: like kind of ground floor blog era shit.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so that was I think that's like the beginning. Yeah,
- 30:48Speaker 2: I had the Cleveland Show. The Cleveland Show was yeah,
- 30:51Speaker 2: was that was? That was back when we were putting
- 30:54Speaker 2: more than twenty songs on that on the project. I
- 30:57Speaker 2: had like I almost had like thirty, so I think
- 30:59Speaker 2: got like twenty eight that that.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Was definitely like, uh, it was something because that was
- 31:04Speaker 1: still that was still kind of like the end of
- 31:08Speaker 1: like physical like not the end of physical mixtapes because
- 31:11Speaker 1: they were still around. But I feel like a kid
- 31:13Speaker 1: named Cuddy was like you could still go to like
- 31:16Speaker 1: the bodega or like the barbershop and it'd be there,
- 31:19Speaker 1: like you could buy it like from like the you
- 31:21Speaker 1: know your bootleg man, but it was still also online.
- 31:25Speaker 1: So I guess it's kind of I kind of look
- 31:27Speaker 1: at like cool kids and all that whole era is
- 31:30Speaker 1: like kind of like the beginning kids in the hall.
- 31:32Speaker 2: That ship is in the hall, man, the Knowledge, double Knowledge,
- 31:36Speaker 2: and double Low. That's what's up.
- 31:40Speaker 3: What was the name of that album, that first album.
- 31:42Speaker 2: It was called album. It was called You're talking about
- 31:46Speaker 2: kids in the whole album? Yeah, I can see that.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I can see the coverage. Yeah, it's it's on the
- 31:57Speaker 2: tip of my brain, the in crowd, the in crowd.
- 32:01Speaker 2: I can see the cover in my head.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Shout out to those guys.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Man, Man, I feel like them and the cool kids
- 32:06Speaker 1: changed so much.
- 32:07Speaker 3: And that's like all out of the Midwest.
- 32:08Speaker 2: You know the Midwest, well, chuck from Detroit, but Rapids,
- 32:14Speaker 2: I mean, but that's that Me and West. You know,
- 32:16Speaker 2: the Me and West, even even from Boosy Collins too,
- 32:21Speaker 2: you know all that Me and West flavor. You know
- 32:22Speaker 2: what I'm saying like that's that's that's where that should
- 32:25Speaker 2: originate from.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Right, do you.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Like? Uh, how often are you working on new ship?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Like are you always writing references like.
- 32:35Speaker 2: It's a lifestyle. Yeah, it's a lifestyle man. I got
- 32:38Speaker 2: a studio in North Hollywood and we just like that's
- 32:41Speaker 2: like our headquarters, and were just it's a factory, you
- 32:44Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like we do you know a
- 32:47Speaker 2: to z you know, from film to music. We we
- 32:52Speaker 2: do it all. So we're constantly working on all type
- 32:55Speaker 2: of shit.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Man, are you writing for other people still?
- 32:59Speaker 2: You know what? I want to get it into that more. Yeah,
- 33:01Speaker 2: I haven't really had the outlet to do it, but
- 33:04Speaker 2: I definitely want to.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to. I wanna.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I got a lot of dope songs that aren't necessarily
- 33:11Speaker 2: for me for somebody.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of artists Like He's like,
- 33:15Speaker 1: you get inspired to go in and you're like, I
- 33:16Speaker 1: don't know if I should be saying this.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you just do it. You just create because that's
- 33:19Speaker 2: you know, I mean, that's what it is. But everything
- 33:22Speaker 2: ain't always for you. That don't mean you shouldn't make
- 33:24Speaker 2: it right.
- 33:25Speaker 3: That's fair man, that's fair. Well, listen. I appreciate you
- 33:27Speaker 3: pulling up.
- 33:28Speaker 1: We're gonna have you do another freestyle because you had
