Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The Warriors are in Vegas for the first game and
- 0:02Speaker 1: season against the Ravers. In terms of the lineup charms,
- 0:05Speaker 1: Nicol Klockstadt has retained his hold on the number one jersey,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Roger to Ivasaschek has shifted from the centers to the wing.
- 0:11Speaker 1: He seems very happy about that. Cameron George is the
- 0:13Speaker 1: CEO of the Warriors and he joins me now in
- 0:16Speaker 1: Las Vegas. How the Cameron, Good morning, eight twenty two
- 0:20Speaker 1: in the morning. You've just come straight from the buffet.
- 0:22Speaker 1: How was the food?
- 0:25Speaker 2: No, I haven't actually look, it's it's crazy over here,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and I'm very excited about the week we've had so far,
- 0:32Speaker 2: and you know, and what's left of it. So getting
- 0:36Speaker 2: closer to game day, which is really important for us.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Okay. So Andrew Webster has said that the Warriors have
- 0:41Speaker 1: done well not to be distracted by the glits of
- 0:43Speaker 1: Las Vegas. And from what you can tell, is he right?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah? Absolutely, boys have prepared really well. They know we've
- 0:51Speaker 2: come here for you know, with a purpose, and we've
- 0:54Speaker 2: i think collectively managed to work really well. Both players,
- 0:58Speaker 2: staff and everyone's enjoyed the moment but also kept very
- 1:03Speaker 2: focused on what's important to us, and that's preparing well
- 1:06Speaker 2: for the for the game on Saturday.
- 1:08Speaker 1: What are the facilities like that you're you're training it
- 1:10Speaker 1: and what's the ground like? Is it all good?
- 1:14Speaker 2: Look where we're training is there's soccer fields. There's no
- 1:18Speaker 2: goalpost or anything. They've got line marking for rugby league fields,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but there are about four or five soccer fields adjacent
- 1:26Speaker 2: to each other. That's where we train. We are Jim
- 1:30Speaker 2: Wise boys are at the UFC, which is a great
- 1:33Speaker 2: experience for them. And look, everything else is pretty similar
- 1:38Speaker 2: to what we get at home, but the fields are
- 1:40Speaker 2: certainly very different given they're not rugby league fields.
- 1:46Speaker 1: What's what's the sales like? I mean, how many? How
- 1:48Speaker 1: many Americans are turning up? And do they have any
- 1:50Speaker 1: comprehension about what's about to hit them?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah? Look they've made every billboard you see here is
- 1:57Speaker 2: talking about rugby league and I understand there's just over
- 2:01Speaker 2: forty eight thousand tickets sold and fifteen thousand of those
- 2:07Speaker 2: have been purchased by Americans pretty well from every state.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So that's a really good sign for the game. I
- 2:14Speaker 2: think that certainly passes what they did last year. So
- 2:18Speaker 2: it's a great sign that the game's being accepted over here.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It's also a great sign that, to course the Australians
- 2:23Speaker 1: and New Zealand is thirty thousand of them have decided
- 2:25Speaker 1: to travel. We saw that the year New Zealand Warrior's
- 2:27Speaker 1: flight sold out in seventeen minutes, so obviously the games
- 2:30Speaker 1: and goods stayed in Australasia and that's quite good. I'm
- 2:32Speaker 1: so sorry that President Trump's not coming, but I appear
- 2:35Speaker 1: he's quite busy.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I can imagine he's got a bit on. But at
- 2:41Speaker 2: the end of the day, mate, there'll be plenty of
- 2:44Speaker 2: plenty of funder had on game day. And yeah, we're
- 2:46Speaker 2: looking forward to it.
- 2:48Speaker 1: The Siday Morning Herald yesterday reckons it's not the Warrior's year.
- 2:51Speaker 1: In fact, they reckon that you're going to come sick
- 2:52Speaker 1: in to last. So we say every year it is
- 2:55Speaker 1: your year. So how is this year any different to
- 2:58Speaker 1: than all the others?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Who was that? Sorry the Sydney Morning Morning, they still existed. Look,
- 3:08Speaker 2: we've got a very good young and blended in with
- 3:12Speaker 2: experience what we've noticed this year, particularly training and if
- 3:15Speaker 2: you if you saw our second trial very fast, you know,
- 3:20Speaker 2: if they execute well, you know they're a team that
- 3:23Speaker 2: can score a lot of points and defendwell. So look,
- 3:26Speaker 2: at the end of the day, it's going to be
- 3:27Speaker 2: a very tight competition. You know, our tension is to
- 3:30Speaker 2: win it, and we've got a very good squad, very
- 3:33Speaker 2: happy with it. Like everyone, you need luck with no injuries,
- 3:36Speaker 2: but little injuries, but we're ready to go. So there's
- 3:39Speaker 2: no excuse from us.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We're right behind you. Cavin, all the very best, give
- 3:43Speaker 1: our regards to the boys, Cameron. George Worrying is CEO.
