Latest / The Paul Barron Crypto Show / Tokenized Gold Transactions on Solana🪙Velo INTERVIEW
Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: To be breaking down a project. From time to time,
- 0:08Speaker 1: we do those. This is Vello Labs today we'll be reviewing.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Of course, this is going to get into some detail
- 0:13Speaker 1: of what's happening within that ecosystem. You guys don't wan
- 0:16Speaker 1: to miss it. My name is Paul Barron. Welcome back
- 0:18Speaker 1: into the show. Let's get into it today, and I
- 0:20Speaker 1: do want to bring in the coeo Vello Labs coming
- 0:24Speaker 1: in and of course that's Pat.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Pat. How are you good? Hi? Thanks thanks for having
- 0:29Speaker 2: me here.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Excellent. So before we get to moving into some of
- 0:33Speaker 1: the questions, I want to kind of give an outline
- 0:36Speaker 1: of Vello. We've had you guys on the show before,
- 0:39Speaker 1: obviously that was in alliance with Solana and some other
- 0:43Speaker 1: team members. I want to kind of go into a
- 0:46Speaker 1: framework for our audience to really understand what Vello is
- 0:49Speaker 1: all about. Give us an update of where you guys
- 0:51Speaker 1: are today.
- 0:53Speaker 2: So we have a recent refocused and sort of redefine
- 0:57Speaker 2: what we're trying to focus here. So essentially, what we're
- 1:00Speaker 2: trying to build here is a financial super highway infrastructure
- 1:03Speaker 2: that's integrated what we call a Web three plus ecosystem,
- 1:07Speaker 2: basically bringing in traditional finance closer with the decentralized finance
- 1:11Speaker 2: or DeFi. Our mission here is still to make money
- 1:14Speaker 2: movement faster and more secure and more inclusive, especially in
- 1:18Speaker 2: our region where access to financial tools is still uneven.
- 1:23Speaker 2: So what we're trying to offer here is a programmabale
- 1:25Speaker 2: liquidity infrastructure combining with real world assets support. We're trying
- 1:30Speaker 2: to stop pain point where there is inefficient cross border transaction,
- 1:35Speaker 2: fragmented liquidity, and limited access to digital financial services.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Where do you see the growth right now for Velo?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Is it mostly in Asia? I know you guys are
- 1:45Speaker 1: based there, but or do you see Europe as being
- 1:49Speaker 1: a major market or South America? Where where do you
- 1:51Speaker 1: find the potential here for the company?
- 1:55Speaker 2: I think the areas where it's targeting here is areas
- 1:57Speaker 2: where the infrastructure is still inefficient. That areas like in
- 2:01Speaker 2: Asia where we operate. We also see potential in areas
- 2:05Speaker 2: like in Africa or South America as well. But these
- 2:08Speaker 2: are huge markets and very unique problems in different regions.
- 2:13Speaker 2: So even though we say, you know, we're saying we're
- 2:17Speaker 2: we're trying to focus here and solving issues in Asia,
- 2:21Speaker 2: but also to be opportunistics to other opportunities that as
- 2:25Speaker 2: they come. So we're keeping eye out on other regions,
- 2:28Speaker 2: but at some point we've got to have, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 2: very specific focus and that's in Asia right now.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So you guys were in the you were featured in
- 2:36Speaker 1: the Finance Alphas not long ago when that happened. Obviously,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Finance very focused on Asia in terms of their trading markets.
- 2:45Speaker 1: First of all, how did that trading competition go? What
- 2:47Speaker 1: was kind of the result?
- 2:49Speaker 2: So the trading competition just ended at the end of June.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I think that went quite well. So just to recap,
- 2:56Speaker 2: it was a trading off competition on Binance Alpha. Binan's
- 3:00Speaker 2: Alpha from time to time highlights certain promising token projects.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I think over the course of the trading competition there
- 3:10Speaker 2: was over I think one billion dollars worth of trading volume,
- 3:14Speaker 2: so that was quite good for us. I think what
- 3:16Speaker 2: we're trying to get here is more coverage, more and
- 3:19Speaker 2: more interest into our projects. So hopefully that'll bring more
- 3:23Speaker 2: users to have an interest in our project, take a
- 3:28Speaker 2: look into what we're trying to doing here, and hopefully
- 3:30Speaker 2: be able to try some of our products in the market.
- 3:34Speaker 1: One thing that we have focused on here on the channel,
- 3:36Speaker 1: we've talked about tokenized gold, and our WA's quite a
- 3:39Speaker 1: bit because there's a handful of projects out there that
- 3:42Speaker 1: are building around that. We have not seen a real
- 3:47Speaker 1: unique focus around gold, especially when you think about tokenized gold.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Explain to me what Vilo is trying to do or
- 3:54Speaker 1: Vello is trying to do in that area.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So essentially gold is is it's a very big commodities
- 4:05Speaker 2: that being traded. It's a store of value that is
- 4:08Speaker 2: widely used in different markets, especially in Asia. Gold itself
- 4:12Speaker 2: has a large trading volume, especially in Thailand or in
- 4:17Speaker 2: countries like China as well, but beyond that, it's still
- 4:21Speaker 2: a store of value. As I mentioned, So by tokenizing gold,
- 4:24Speaker 2: what we're trying to bring here is an asset that's
- 4:28Speaker 2: on chain that can be used to allow for other
- 4:31Speaker 2: financial services to build upon. For example, a use case
- 4:36Speaker 2: that we're trying to look into is something like trade finance. Right,
- 4:38Speaker 2: so instead of you know, users can use something like gold,
- 4:42Speaker 2: tokenized gold as collateral to allow for trade financing to happen.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's one way. Also we could use it as in
- 4:49Speaker 2: terms of liquidity to bring it to the ecosystem to
- 4:53Speaker 2: allow for cross border payments in certain corridors. As well,
- 4:56Speaker 2: So there's you know, we see it as a pillar
- 5:00Speaker 2: of our ecosystem that would allow and unlock other use
- 5:03Speaker 2: cases that will stop inefficiency that we see.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So would all this ride on the Nova chain with
- 5:11Speaker 1: you guys.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Nova chain is one chain that we have and a
- 5:17Speaker 2: lot of activities can be on there, but we're going
- 5:19Speaker 2: with a multi chain strategy so it doesn't have to
- 5:23Speaker 2: be just Nova chained. So as you mentioned last year,
- 5:26Speaker 2: we partnered with Solana, so we are also exploring utilizing
- 5:31Speaker 2: Sonaria in certain use cases as well, so we're not
- 5:34Speaker 2: limited to our using our own chain. We're going with
- 5:37Speaker 2: Malti acid because we want to bring liquidity's in different
- 5:40Speaker 2: from different chains to be able to pass through. It
- 5:43Speaker 2: allows more steam lists between different ecosystem basically.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So okay, So OURBA is growing in terms of popularity
- 5:51Speaker 1: obviously we've seen large amount of growth here in the US.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Goal will be an interesting one if you guys are
- 5:56Speaker 1: effective on how that's going to go. All of that,
- 5:59Speaker 1: we'll talk about MAP in a second. I want to
- 6:01Speaker 1: get into a little bit around DeFi because the idea
- 6:05Speaker 1: of what you guys are doing or the concept that
- 6:07Speaker 1: you guys are talking about in terms of restaking now
- 6:10Speaker 1: gaining traction in defied circles. Explain to me what that
- 6:14Speaker 1: means and how you guys are planning to implement it.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So, so, by tokenizing something like gold allows for easier
- 6:24Speaker 2: access digitally for people to get exposure to, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 2: the yield that comes from the increase in pricing of gold.
- 6:32Speaker 2: But beyond that, we also would allow users to be
- 6:35Speaker 2: able to use these tokenized gold to ask collateral to restick,
- 6:40Speaker 2: to be able to earn other yields as well. So
- 6:43Speaker 2: I think it's an interesting concept that would allow for
- 6:47Speaker 2: yield opportunities for people to hold hold these tokenized assets,
- 6:52Speaker 2: but it also allows for more capital efficiency and returns.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And this sort of multi layer strategy allows us to
- 6:59Speaker 2: be value from assets that would otherwise sit idly and
- 7:04Speaker 2: brings more liquidity and use cases to the decentalized ecosystem
- 7:08Speaker 2: that we have.
- 7:09Speaker 1: This is a huge market when you look at a
- 7:12Speaker 1: real world asset allocation and you see the growth that
- 7:15Speaker 1: we've seen around our Toba's just in the past twelve
- 7:18Speaker 1: months in terms of total addressable potential here, especially when
- 7:23Speaker 1: you think about gold being inserted in this which is
- 7:25Speaker 1: running around thirteen fourteen trillion. What is the opportunity here
- 7:30Speaker 1: for you guys in terms of overall market share, et cetera.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Where do you guys see big accelerated growth for VELO.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I think, you know, going back to earlier what I
- 7:44Speaker 2: mentioned is this focus is in the payments that work.
- 7:46Speaker 2: So there's different ways that we think about it. One
- 7:49Speaker 2: is in terms of cross border payments, how we can
- 7:53Speaker 2: bring the you know, our infrastructure to be able to
- 7:57Speaker 2: offer an alternative to the inefficiencies that we see. I
- 8:02Speaker 2: like to mention sort of these specific use cases, but
- 8:05Speaker 2: in exotic currencies that we see for several taibat or
- 8:10Speaker 2: Filipino pesels, the inefficiency is there's no direct conversion between
- 8:15Speaker 2: the two currency. It usually goes from high bat to
- 8:18Speaker 2: us E and UC to Filipino pestels. This two hots
- 8:21Speaker 2: increase obviously the fees and infficiency. By providing an alternative infrastructure,
- 8:27Speaker 2: we could allow for that to be bypassed and to
- 8:30Speaker 2: be direct conversion between the two. Obviously were that would
- 8:33Speaker 2: need us to be able to aggregate liquidities within the ecosystem,
- 8:38Speaker 2: but also beyond that, beyond just infinition, the inefficiency also
- 8:43Speaker 2: in terms of the movement of money to be twenty
- 8:47Speaker 2: four to sevens not limited by banking hours, and also
- 8:52Speaker 2: allow it to happen, you know, at any given time.
- 8:54Speaker 2: That's just one way that we're trying to bring our
- 8:58Speaker 2: infrastructure to inefficiency. The other part I want to highlight is,
- 9:02Speaker 2: you know, crossworder movement is not moving point A to
- 9:06Speaker 2: point B. What we see also is companies with distributed
- 9:12Speaker 2: workforce wanting to be able to work to sort of
- 9:15Speaker 2: manage their payroll. Right, So if you're a company you
- 9:18Speaker 2: have people working in ten different countries, you know you
- 9:21Speaker 2: have to work in ten different countries payroll and you
- 9:24Speaker 2: know the payments itself that needs to go through. So
- 9:28Speaker 2: the benefit of having blockchain is you know, being able
- 9:31Speaker 2: to program different movement of funds, so in one click
- 9:36Speaker 2: you can essentially have these funds distributed to your workers
- 9:40Speaker 2: efficiently and easily for your HR. So those are some
- 9:43Speaker 2: of the things that we're talking about. The other part
- 9:46Speaker 2: is the immersion network payments. So how do we allow
- 9:53Speaker 2: people to have assets on web three, be able to
- 9:56Speaker 2: use those assets to make payments in the real world,
- 10:00Speaker 2: and allow merchants to be able to settle into a
- 10:02Speaker 2: fiat currency. That's something that we also look into so
- 10:05Speaker 2: I can't really say in numbers what we expect to
- 10:10Speaker 2: be able to capture. But these are large markets and
- 10:13Speaker 2: these are large problems that we're trying to solve here,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and just capturing a SERD percentage means a lot to
- 10:20Speaker 2: us already. Yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you look at your statement here supercharging
- 10:25Speaker 1: the velocity of money, and that's something that I think
- 10:28Speaker 1: a lot of people are watching right now, especially in
- 10:29Speaker 1: the market conditions even though there's been somewhat of a
- 10:32Speaker 1: turn down since last December, even though bitcoin now is
- 10:36Speaker 1: still over one hundred K. You look at some of
- 10:38Speaker 1: the performance of the market and also some of the
- 10:41Speaker 1: analysis I was looking at the Massari report recently on
- 10:44Speaker 1: you guys. When you look at that kind of analysis,
- 10:48Speaker 1: does that first of all, if you can give us
- 10:50Speaker 1: a breakdown of maybe some of the highlights within that
- 10:53Speaker 1: that they focused on. But I want to get your
- 10:55Speaker 1: opinion on what does that do for you guys in
- 10:58Speaker 1: terms of focusing on a lot of where you guys
- 11:00Speaker 1: are performing.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So just some of the highlights that the reported the
- 11:06Speaker 2: report on Missori had was the daily average transaction on
- 11:10Speaker 2: Envelope pro com network jump by twenty six percent. Daily
- 11:13Speaker 2: active addresses were up by fifteen percent over the period.
- 11:17Speaker 2: This is, you know, in a period where the market
- 11:20Speaker 2: had relatively downturned in terms of the over liquidity and pricing.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So from a project standpoint, I think that's the focus here.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We're trying to build real businesses, real use cases, and
- 11:32Speaker 2: those metrics are good for us, are positive. It means
- 11:37Speaker 2: that we're growing in spite of negative sentimental overall market condition.
- 11:43Speaker 2: We have growth in terms of our usage as I mentioned,
- 11:46Speaker 2: but also in terms of our product or a nova
- 11:48Speaker 2: chain as I mentioned, but also our cross chain transfer
- 11:52Speaker 2: called WARP. So these are good things and we're thankful
- 11:56Speaker 2: that we're sorry, we're able to highlight all these growth
- 11:59Speaker 2: that we've had over the past or.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So okay, so good news on the Finance Alpha program.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I'm sorry giving you guys kind of a green light. Obviously,
- 12:08Speaker 1: you guys have your roadmap coming out. If you think
- 12:10Speaker 1: about users developers, this is one of the things that
- 12:13Speaker 1: users and developers want to see, and that is a
- 12:16Speaker 1: real solid roadmap. What can you share. I'm pulling this
- 12:20Speaker 1: one up right now, so it's kind of got future projects.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You got what you've got coming around here toward the
- 12:26Speaker 1: end or soon in twenty twenty five. Is there anything
- 12:30Speaker 1: specific that you're thinking, Wow, this is going to be
- 12:32Speaker 1: one of the key things that both devs and users
- 12:35Speaker 1: are we're going to flock to.
- 12:38Speaker 2: So just to refocus the area that we have, I
- 12:41Speaker 2: think it's hard to say we need to do just
- 12:44Speaker 2: one thing to be to succeed. What we've seen is
- 12:47Speaker 2: that we need to really build out different parts together,
- 12:49Speaker 2: the quidity, the settlement of payments together in orders for
- 12:53Speaker 2: all of it to succeed. So what we like to
- 12:56Speaker 2: say is in the past is building the foundation, getting fashion,
- 13:00Speaker 2: putting the market out there, building awareness. Next part is
- 13:03Speaker 2: actually how do we scale our usage, our utility of
- 13:07Speaker 2: our platform to bring in more users. So the next
- 13:10Speaker 2: step for us is going to market, bringing use as
- 13:12Speaker 2: many users as possible into our ecosystem, finding new use
- 13:17Speaker 2: cases to provide value to our customers.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Explain to me, because I'm looking here at the coming soon.
- 13:25Speaker 1: One that's intriguing to me is Orbit. So that's a
- 13:28Speaker 1: loyalty platform, but it's a white label loyalty platform that
- 13:32Speaker 1: you're proposing. Would that count in terms of total transactions, etc?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Within the chain itself? As you guys start to roll
- 13:42Speaker 1: these out. How would that play out in terms or
- 13:44Speaker 1: is it independent chains? Explain a little bit more about it.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so we've opened our orbit infrastructure for a third
- 13:52Speaker 2: party partner that we have to be able to use
- 13:55Speaker 2: our infrastructure, so it would count as our overall transaction
- 13:58Speaker 2: within our ecosystem. But they're operating you allowing for loyalty
- 14:03Speaker 2: points to be converted with accepted moersion. So this is
- 14:07Speaker 2: a use case of our technology, our infrastructure and use
- 14:10Speaker 2: it in real world use cases. So yes, we do
- 14:12Speaker 2: count this as part of a growth metric.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so in terms of next generation vision, so
- 14:20Speaker 1: there was a few in here, the super wallet infrastructure.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I thought this was interesting. This is going to be
- 14:25Speaker 1: payment loyalty platform kind of all encompassing. Is that kind
- 14:30Speaker 1: of the vision of where you see Velo going in
- 14:32Speaker 1: terms of trying to create more of almost a super
- 14:35Speaker 1: app or super feature I should say, around the chain itself,
- 14:40Speaker 1: especially when it comes to wallet and loyalty being in
- 14:43Speaker 1: one place.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, a super a yeah, especially some version of super app.
- 14:48Speaker 2: What we see is what we like to think is
- 14:51Speaker 2: a wallet. You know, when when when we think of
- 14:53Speaker 2: from a users standpoint, and you have a wallet, you
- 14:56Speaker 2: want to to be able to use that wallet to
- 14:58Speaker 2: connect your assets, to be able to make purchases at
- 15:01Speaker 2: merchant accept that partners so make payments, right, but that
- 15:05Speaker 2: might not happen all the time, So how do we
- 15:08Speaker 2: encourage users to come to our application and benefit from it.
- 15:12Speaker 2: So that's also you know, we look in terms of
- 15:15Speaker 2: trading or earning yields, So any leftover funds that you
- 15:20Speaker 2: left in wallet that's not being used for payments could
- 15:22Speaker 2: also potentially be earning yields for you as well. So
- 15:26Speaker 2: we want to have an app that that benefits are
- 15:29Speaker 2: users the most, and we want to envision a variety
- 15:34Speaker 2: of different use cases that the users can benefit from.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, well, first of all, congrats on all the things
- 15:40Speaker 1: you guys are doing, because I think the key here
- 15:42Speaker 1: on at least on Web three, we're starting to see
- 15:44Speaker 1: some breakouts in the market where people are not only
- 15:49Speaker 1: starting to utilize blockchain, but now they're starting to see
- 15:51Speaker 1: the use cases, whether it's our Toba's what we'll see
- 15:53Speaker 1: in the payment architecture, a lot of activity in the market.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So congrats to you guys, thanks for coming in, and
- 16:00Speaker 1: we're definitely going to check back with Vello as you
- 16:02Speaker 1: guys start to resolve some of these roadmaps for sure.
- 16:05Speaker 1: But appreciate you coming in today.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Thank you for having.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Me, you bet, thanks Matt. All right, So guys, if
