- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in scripture and relevant for.
- 0:07Today, May 21st, plans, promises, and peace.
- 0:14Have you ever had a plan you were genuinely excited about
- 0:16completely fall apart? You mapped everything out, you
- 0:20did your part, you thought you had it figured out, and then
- 0:23life went a completely different direction.
- 0:26Maybe it was a friendship that didn't work out the way you
- 0:29hoped, or a goal you worked towards that didn't come
- 0:32through. That feeling of watching your
- 0:35carefully built plan unravel is one of the most unsettling
- 0:38things we experience. Proverbs chapter 16, verse 9
- 0:43speaks right into that moment. The heart of man plans his way,
- 0:47but the Lord establishes his steps.
- 0:49There's something both humbling and deeply comforting about that
- 0:52verse. Humbling because it reminds us
- 0:56we are not the ones ultimately in control.
- 0:58Comforting because it means the one who is in control actually
- 1:02knows where you're going, even when you don't.
- 1:05Your detours are not surprises to God.
- 1:08Your setbacks are not miscalculations on His end.
- 1:11He is establishing your steps, even the ones that feel like
- 1:14they're going backward. Psalm 57, verse 11 breaks out
- 1:19into worship in the middle of everything.
- 1:21Be exalted. Oh, God above the heavens, let
- 1:25your glory be over all the earth.
- 1:27And here's what's worth noticing.
- 1:29The psalmist wrote this from a place of real danger and
- 1:32uncertainty. He wasn't sitting comfortably
- 1:35when he penned these words. He was in the middle of
- 1:38difficulty, choosing to lift God higher than his circumstances.
- 1:42That's a powerful posture. When your plans fall apart, the
- 1:46natural instinct is to panic, to scramble, to try to regain
- 1:50control. But the psalmist shows us a
- 1:53different response. Exalt God.
- 1:55Put Him above the chaos. Let His glory be bigger in your
- 1:59mind than your current problem. That's not denial, that's faith.
- 2:04And then Second Corinthians chapter 13, verse 5 brings in a
- 2:08different kind of challenge, an inward one.
- 2:11Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith
- 2:14test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about
- 2:17yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?
- 2:21This verse invites you to stop for a moment and actually check
- 2:24in, not just with your circumstances, but with your
- 2:27soul. Are you genuinely walking in
- 2:30faith, or have you been going through the motions?
- 2:33Is your relationship with God something real and alive, or has
- 2:36it become background noise in your busy life?
- 2:40That's not meant to be a guilt trip.
- 2:42It's actually an invitation to something better.
- 2:45Because if Jesus Christ is truly in you, and He is, if you've
- 2:49placed your faith in Him, then you have access to a peace and a
- 2:53steadiness that doesn't depend on your plans working out.
- 2:57You have a foundation that doesn't shift when life does.
- 3:01So here's the honest question for today.
- 3:03Are you trusting God with your actual plans, or are you just
- 3:06hoping He blesses the ones you've already decided on?
- 3:09There's a difference. One is partnership, the other is
- 3:13using God as a good luck charm. Real trust looks like holding
- 3:18your goals and dreams with open hands, bringing them to God,
- 3:22doing your faithful best and releasing the outcome to Him,
- 3:27knowing His version of your story is better than the one
- 3:29you'd write yourself. The peace that comes from that
- 3:32kind of trust is not passive. It's not giving up or not
- 3:36caring. It's an active, daily choice to
- 3:38believe that God's plan, even when you can't see it, is good,
- 3:43and that makes all the difference.
- 3:45Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank You for
- 3:48guiding my steps even when my plans go sideways.
- 3:51Help me to hold my dreams and goals with open hands, trusting
- 3:55that your direction is better than my own.
- 3:58When I'm tempted to panic or control everything, remind me to
- 4:02lift You above my circumstances and rest in the fact that You
- 4:05are establishing my path. And God help me to be honest
- 4:10when I examine my own heart to not just go through the motions,
- 4:13but to walk with you in real living faith in Jesus name,
- 4:17Amen. What if the battles hitting your
- 4:20family are not random and your home can become a place where

- 5:28Proverbs Chapter 16 Verse 9 World English Bible A man's
- 5:32heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.
- 5:36Psalm Chapter 57 World English Bible Be merciful to me, God, be
- 5:41merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you.
- 5:45Yes, in the shadow of your wings.
- 5:46I will take refuge until disaster has passed.
- 5:50I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests
- 5:54for me. He will send from heaven and
- 5:57save me. He rebukes the one who is
- 5:59pursuing me. God will send out His loving
- 6:02kindness and His truth. My soul is among lions.
- 6:06I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men whose
- 6:10teeth are Spears and arrows and their tongue a sharp sword.
- 6:14Be exalted, God above the heavens.
- 6:17Let your glory be above all the earth.
- 6:20They have prepared a net for my steps.
- 6:22My soul is bowed down. They dig a pit before me.
- 6:25They fall into the middle of it themselves.
- 6:27My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast.
- 6:32I will sing, Yes, I will sing praises.
- 6:34Wake up my glory. Wake up lewd and harp.
- 6:37I will wake up the dawn. I will give thanks to you, Lord,
- 6:40among the peoples. I will sing praises to you among
- 6:43the nations, for your great loving kindness reaches to the
- 6:47heavens, and Your truth to the skies.
- 6:49Be exalted God above the heavens.
- 6:53Let your glory be over all the earth.
- 6:55Second Corinthians chapters 12 to 13 World English Bible.
- 7:00It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast, for I will come
- 7:03to visions and revelations of the Lord.
- 7:06I know a man in Christ 14 years ago, whether in the body I don't
- 7:10know, or whether out of the body I don't know.
- 7:13God knows such a one caught up into the 3rd heaven.
- 7:17I know such a man, whether in the body or outside of the body
- 7:20I don't know. God knows how he was caught up
- 7:23into Paradise and heard unspeakable words which it is
- 7:27not lawful for a man to utter. On behalf of such a one I will
- 7:31boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast except in my
- 7:35weaknesses. For if I would desire to boast,
- 7:37I will not be foolish, for I will speak the truth, but I
- 7:42refrain, so that no man may think more of me than that which
- 7:45he sees in me or hears from me. By reason of the exceeding
- 7:49greatness of the revelations that I should not be exalted
- 7:52excessively, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a
- 7:56messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted
- 8:00excessively. Concerning this thing I beg the
- 8:04Lord three times that it might depart from me.
- 8:07He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power
- 8:11is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will
- 8:15rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may
- 8:18rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in
- 8:21weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions,
- 8:25and in distresses for Christ's sake.
- 8:27For when I am weak, then am I strong.
- 8:30I have become foolish in boasting.
- 8:33You compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you.
- 8:36For I am in no way inferior to the very best apostles, though I
- 8:40am nothing truly. The signs of an apostle were
- 8:43worked among you in all perseverance, in signs and
- 8:46wonders and mighty works. For what is there in which you
- 8:50were made inferior to the rest of the assemblies, Unless it is
- 8:54that I myself was not a burden to you?
- 8:56Forgive me this wrong. Behold, this is the third time I
- 9:00am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you.
- 9:03For I seek not your possessions, but you.
- 9:07For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the
- 9:10parents for the children I will most gladly spend and be spent
- 9:13for your souls. If I love you more abundantly am
- 9:16I loved the less. Even so, I myself didn't burden
- 9:20you, but being crafty, I caught you with deception.
- 9:24Did I take advantage of you by any one of those whom I have
- 9:27sent to you? I exhorted Titus, and I sent the
- 9:31brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of
- 9:34you? Didn't we walk in the same
- 9:35spirit? Didn't we walk in the same steps
- 9:39again? Do you think that we are
- 9:40excusing ourselves to you in the sight of God?
- 9:43We speak in Christ. But all things, beloved, are for
- 9:46your edifying. For I am afraid that by any
- 9:49means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and
- 9:53that I might be found by you, as you don't desire that by any
- 9:57means. There would be strife, jealousy,
- 10:00outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud
- 10:04thoughts or riots, that again, when I come, my God would humble
- 10:07me before you, and I would mourn for many of those who have
- 10:10sinned before now and not repented of the uncleanness,
- 10:15sexual immorality, and lustfulness which they
- 10:17committed. This is the third time I am
- 10:20coming to you. At the mouth of two or three
- 10:23witnesses shall every word be established.
- 10:26I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was
- 10:30present the second time. So now being absent, I write to
- 10:34those who have sinned before now, and to all the rest, that
- 10:37if I come again, I will not spare, seeing that you seek a
- 10:41proof of Christ, who speaks in me, Who toward you is not weak,
- 10:45but is powerful in you. For He was crucified through
- 10:49weakness, yet he lives through the power of God, For we also
- 10:53are weak in Him, but we will live with him through the power
- 10:56of God toward you. Examine your own selves, whether
- 10:59you are in the faith, test your own selves or don't you know
- 11:03about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless
- 11:06indeed you are disqualified. But I hope that you will know
- 11:10that we aren't disqualified. Now I pray to God that you do no
- 11:15evil, not that we may appear approved, but that you may do
- 11:18that which is honorable, though we are as reprobate.
- 11:22For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
- 11:26For we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong.
- 11:28We also pray for this. You're becoming perfect for this
- 11:32'cause I write these things while absent, that I may not
- 11:36deal sharply when present, according to the authority which
- 11:39the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.
- 11:43Finally, brothers, rejoice. Be perfected, be comforted, be
- 11:47of the same mind, Live in peace, and the God of love and peace
- 11:51will be with you. Greet one another with a holy
- 11:53kiss. All the Saints greet you.
- 11:56The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, God's love, and the
- 11:59fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
- 12:02Amen. Thanks for.
