- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes eight forty five and eight forty six, Puddings,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Determination Ablaze, the Seducing Woods, and a Lightning Counterattack na
- 0:25Speaker 1: Me and Zeus the Thundercloud. In these episodes, we find
- 0:32Speaker 1: out that clouds are cannibals. Who knew? I wasn't aware
- 0:39Speaker 1: of this weird development, but sure, why not, let's do it.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I
- 1:07Speaker 1: am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning
- 1:11Speaker 1: this episode. Florian is here in the chat with me,
- 1:15Speaker 1: being very patient as I want again deal with a
- 1:18Speaker 1: bunch of technical problems. So there are some specific things
- 1:25Speaker 1: that I definitely want to talk about in these two episodes. Well,
- 1:30Speaker 1: we'll just start with the cloud thing. This is a
- 1:35Speaker 1: weird It's a real weird development that I don't have
- 1:41Speaker 1: a problem with. It's more like, huh, all right, And
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's the kind of moment that this will happen in
- 1:51Speaker 1: one piece. Sometimes something will happen on screen and I
- 1:56Speaker 1: will see it and be like, oh, okay, so I
- 1:59Speaker 1: guess that's a thing, and I will sort of feel
- 2:03Speaker 1: as if I miss something, and then later a character
- 2:08Speaker 1: will be like, oh, is that a thing now, and
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, okay, I didn't miss anything. It is new.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But within that moment, nobody actually addressed how weird it is.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So that kind of happens with Zeus when he eats
- 2:27Speaker 1: those like little orbs of lightning. I'm watching it, going
- 2:34Speaker 1: what are those like candy to hammer? What is happening?
- 2:41Speaker 1: And nobody actually really says a word about the fact
- 2:46Speaker 1: that he ate them. It's just that, like later I
- 2:55Speaker 1: think he says, he just comes up to him and
- 2:57Speaker 1: asks for more, and it's it's it's not Chopper, who is?
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's Carrot? I think who is? Like what thunderclouds are
- 3:05Speaker 1: yummy to a cloud? Like who knew? And I was
- 3:11Speaker 1: sort of like, why didn't anybody mention in the moment
- 3:15Speaker 1: how wild it was the way that he just completely
- 3:18Speaker 1: swallowed that thing and was like excited about it. So
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'll get confused and I'll really feel like this must
- 3:26Speaker 1: have been addressed at some point and I just missed it,
- 3:28Speaker 1: but apparently not. Ooh, I'm sorry, I just saw that.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Florian says only two. It's fine either way, but you
- 3:39Speaker 1: could have gotten more I thought was on the spreadsheet
- 3:43Speaker 1: that I have that it was only two episodes today.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Hold on, now, I'm gonna double check. What's today? The fifth?
- 3:51Speaker 1: The fut Oh no, oh, no, I was looking at
- 3:57Speaker 1: the wrong one. Shit. You know, I thought it felt
- 4:03Speaker 1: weird because like there was a lot going on in
- 4:06Speaker 1: these episodes, but it didn't really feel like enough to
- 4:10Speaker 1: justify it only being two, and I just assumed that
- 4:13Speaker 1: it was sort of, you know, to compensate for three
- 4:16Speaker 1: episodes that you guys really wanted to go together later.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I don't know how I made this mistake. I must
- 4:22Speaker 1: have been looking at the wrong like square on the
- 4:26Speaker 1: spreadsheet or something. Shit, I'm sorry about that. Oh well,
- 4:32Speaker 1: what can you do? No, maybe I'll go through the
- 4:37Speaker 1: next one on the air live. Why not? Today has
- 4:40Speaker 1: really been a day, y'all. I try to keep things
- 4:45Speaker 1: somewhat professional just for my own peace of mind, and
- 4:50Speaker 1: there are just moments where it feels like what am
- 4:55Speaker 1: I doing? Is this? Like you know what I mean?
- 5:00Speaker 1: I just feel like an impostor, I guess is really
- 5:03Speaker 1: what it comes down to is just a big sense
- 5:05Speaker 1: of like I am am I robbing people who commission
- 5:10Speaker 1: these episodes? Do I deserve to be charging for this
- 5:13Speaker 1: kind of service anyway. So the here's the thing that's
- 5:25Speaker 1: sort of it's working for me what's going on with
- 5:29Speaker 1: Zeus in very specifically, in the same way that what's
- 5:36Speaker 1: going on with the tree guy isn't working for me.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I just had his name in my head and I
- 5:42Speaker 1: lost it this second. But I remain frustrated at the
- 5:50Speaker 1: fact that it's supposed to be Nami can use Mom's
- 5:54Speaker 1: soul to make this guy do things, King Baum. Thank you, Florian.
- 6:00Speaker 1: You could also call it that you keep us on
- 6:02Speaker 1: our toes. Florian says, that's very generous, Thank you, Florian.
- 6:09Speaker 1: But yeah, the fact that she can use a piece
- 6:11Speaker 1: of Mom's soul to control King Bomb, but then Mom
- 6:18Speaker 1: can actually literally be there and it doesn't change her
- 6:25Speaker 1: effect on King Bam, it doesn't make him go. The
- 6:29Speaker 1: presence of the person who soul this is supposed to
- 6:31Speaker 1: be actually overrides what you're telling me to do, you
- 6:35Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So anyway, it's just a it's
- 6:41Speaker 1: funny because it feels like making it that Zeus eats
- 6:45Speaker 1: these little clouds is another means of Oda finding a
- 6:51Speaker 1: way for Nam to get control over one of Big
- 6:56Speaker 1: Mom's henchmen. And I think that if this is the
- 7:02Speaker 1: only means that we can use to get out of
- 7:06Speaker 1: the situations that the straw Hats are in, that we
- 7:13Speaker 1: get a we managed to make somebody defect. Basically, I
- 7:21Speaker 1: think that it might just need to be thought out
- 7:24Speaker 1: a little bit better. The king bomb thing just really
- 7:28Speaker 1: and eventually there comes a point where I will admit
- 7:33Speaker 1: that after this happens, Sanji says she's diabolical, and I
- 7:38Speaker 1: was kind of like, okay, so at least we're all
- 7:40Speaker 1: acknowledging what the fuck just happened here. But there is
- 7:44Speaker 1: a moment where Nami is convincing King Baum to like
- 7:51Speaker 1: struggle through this attack that he just lived through with
- 7:55Speaker 1: Big Mom, And she asks him, who was that lady
- 8:00Speaker 1: Tree that I saw you with? Is that your girlfriend?
- 8:03Speaker 1: And he says, first of all, he says that was
- 8:06Speaker 1: my treance, which perfect love it. But then Nami is like,
- 8:14Speaker 1: then live for her. Don't you want to see her again?
- 8:20Speaker 1: And the idea that like, when you stop and think
- 8:24Speaker 1: about it, bro would not be in any danger if
- 8:28Speaker 1: you hadn't made him do this, no me so for
- 8:31Speaker 1: her to now be like, don't you want to see
- 8:34Speaker 1: her again, and you have to stay alive, ma'am. That
- 8:40Speaker 1: is truly fucked up. Like you know, So, as Nami
- 8:46Speaker 1: is doing this and convincing him, there's a way that
- 8:51Speaker 1: it's filmed that makes me feel like I'm supposed to
- 8:54Speaker 1: be buying into this as well, that I, as a viewer,
- 8:58Speaker 1: am supposed to be like, no, he is inspiring him
- 9:01Speaker 1: right now, and instead I'm watching it going like, wow,
- 9:07Speaker 1: na me, you really have fucking no qualms.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Huh.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And then quickly we get Sanji saying she's diabolical, and
- 9:19Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, okay, fine. If if we're acknowledging
- 9:24Speaker 1: that this is really some audacity that she is pulling
- 9:29Speaker 1: out in order to do this, then I'm fine with it. Cool.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But I do think that the combo of what's going
- 9:42Speaker 1: on with king Baum and what's going on with Zeus,
- 9:45Speaker 1: it's so frustrating, you guys, because you'll know that there
- 9:50Speaker 1: have been many points where I have wanted Nami to
- 9:52Speaker 1: have more to do a lot of different moments where
- 9:57Speaker 1: I have felt like we're underutilizing her. She's not getting
- 10:00Speaker 1: to fight enough. She's you know, and not that she's
- 10:04Speaker 1: like a great fighter, but she has things to offer,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and then the things that we're getting are so like
- 10:13Speaker 1: kind of mid The thing with king Baum that does
- 10:17Speaker 1: work is her being really manipulative.
- 10:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I don't like to look at that part of Nami's
- 10:29Speaker 1: character too often, but the truth is, like, she do
- 10:32Speaker 1: be like that, so that's fair. But I admit that
- 10:37Speaker 1: I definitely like have these I feel like I wish
- 10:43Speaker 1: that there were more for her here that did actually
- 10:48Speaker 1: involve her fighting and doing something more proactive rather than
- 10:54Speaker 1: it seems like just wrangling sidekicks and henchmen away from
- 10:59Speaker 1: Big Mom. And I think maybe I've just got to
- 11:04Speaker 1: accept the fact that like Oda doesn't see Nami as
- 11:10Speaker 1: a character who would get in the fight usually, she's
- 11:14Speaker 1: just not the type. And I don't like I think
- 11:21Speaker 1: that if I'm really honest about her character, I think
- 11:26Speaker 1: that's true. It's just that we have so few women
- 11:31Speaker 1: in this series that I get sensitive about the fact
- 11:36Speaker 1: that it feels like she's left out of things so much.
- 11:39Speaker 1: But the character that like as she has been built
- 11:44Speaker 1: is a survivor. She wants to stay out of things
- 11:48Speaker 1: until she knows it's a sure thing. She wants to
- 11:51Speaker 1: stay out of things unless she's got no other choice
- 11:55Speaker 1: but to throw in. And I really like want to
- 12:01Speaker 1: face up to the fact that my feelings about this
- 12:05Speaker 1: are much more I think about the baggage of her
- 12:09Speaker 1: being one of the only women on the Straw Hats crew,
- 12:13Speaker 1: that it just puts an unfair amount of pressure on
- 12:18Speaker 1: her in a way that I am aware happens a
- 12:22Speaker 1: lot to any character that sort of represents an entirely
- 12:27Speaker 1: different demographic than like straight white man. It doesn't matter
- 12:34Speaker 1: what you're talking about. If you've got an ensemble cast
- 12:37Speaker 1: and there's one black character, there is so much pressure
- 12:41Speaker 1: on that one black character to you know, be somebody
- 12:46Speaker 1: who is competent and not a stereotype and who you know,
- 12:51Speaker 1: is perfect representation in a way that like no character
- 12:55Speaker 1: should be perfect representation, because then you're making them kind
- 12:59Speaker 1: of an unrealistic human being. So I think like in
- 13:06Speaker 1: a way, adding Carrot to the mix is an attempt
- 13:13Speaker 1: to like kind of mitigate the fact that we've got
- 13:17Speaker 1: one woman who we've got Carrot. She's attempt you know,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I think I don't know if it's going to turn
- 13:25Speaker 1: out that she's actually joining the crew for real forever,
- 13:28Speaker 1: but I mean, if she did I don't. I wouldn't
- 13:31Speaker 1: hate it. I'll say that I don't love Karat. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: find her a little annoying, but I found her a
- 13:39Speaker 1: lot more annoying early on than I do now. And
- 13:43Speaker 1: maybe it's simply because there's not as much focus on
- 13:46Speaker 1: her now that the story has really gotten going. But
- 13:50Speaker 1: I I don't think I would be mad about her
- 13:54Speaker 1: joining up. It's just more like, I don't really think
- 13:57Speaker 1: we need any more crew members because we're getting to
- 13:59Speaker 1: be a pretty large group of people, you know. That's
- 14:02Speaker 1: really more my concern at this point is like, all right,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I mean, how much do I have to keep track
- 14:10Speaker 1: of after this, you know, even jimbe coming on board.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm like, it's setting aside the fact that I don't
- 14:17Speaker 1: care about Jimbei as a character, like completely separating that out. Yeah,
- 14:22Speaker 1: I'm definitely struggling with Like, there's another one and it's
- 14:28Speaker 1: a dude. Florian says, Yep, I see what you mean.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Would love to see her fight more, but it's also
- 14:35Speaker 1: not her as always. We need more women as always indeed,
- 14:39Speaker 1: and Carrot's fighting. It's an interesting balance where we've got
- 14:44Speaker 1: Carrot who fights but is cutesy in a way that's
- 14:50Speaker 1: very like Chopper adjacent. You know, I don't know if
- 14:53Speaker 1: part of that is just because she's also a cute,
- 14:57Speaker 1: fuzzy animal and just virtue of that both her and
- 15:02Speaker 1: Chopper are kind of she be like a little bit,
- 15:08Speaker 1: but like because Robin being the other woman, Robin gets
- 15:14Speaker 1: involved in fights, I would say roughly about as much
- 15:18Speaker 1: as Nami does if you really stop and look at it.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Robin's contribution usually is something that's like highly practical, but
- 15:27Speaker 1: not necessarily specifically combat. It will be something like in
- 15:32Speaker 1: the midst of combat that is helpful, like moving something big,
- 15:36Speaker 1: or moving people to a certain place, or creating a
- 15:40Speaker 1: net to catch people. So, if we're putting Kara into
- 15:47Speaker 1: like temporary straw hat status, the fact that she's got
- 15:53Speaker 1: like she's got kind of a son gesque type of
- 15:56Speaker 1: skill with her kicking, that makes her her the most
- 16:01Speaker 1: combat oriented lady that we've got going on, which you know,
- 16:08Speaker 1: I'm if if she were to join the crew, I
- 16:12Speaker 1: would at least be pleased with that as an addition
- 16:16Speaker 1: to things, as long as she's actually utilized in that
- 16:21Speaker 1: way in a serious way, which I think she would
- 16:25Speaker 1: be based on the way she's been utilized so far
- 16:27Speaker 1: in this arc. So that's my that's my uh, overarching
- 16:35Speaker 1: view on what all is going on with Nami and
- 16:37Speaker 1: how I have started to like recognize where my feelings
- 16:42Speaker 1: are coming from on this and that they're not always
- 16:44Speaker 1: necessarily really fair. And Florian says, what about VIVI? She
- 16:49Speaker 1: always wanted to throw down, just was really bad and
- 16:52Speaker 1: sad while doing so. Florien, I know you're baiting me
- 16:58Speaker 1: by saying what about vis I know it, they know it,
- 17:02Speaker 1: everybody knows it. But god damn if I don't want
- 17:06Speaker 1: to take the bait and just rant about viv right
- 17:09Speaker 1: now anyway, And I'm not gonna do it, but you really, uh,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I should put you in the corner for that one
- 17:19Speaker 1: fucking Vivy Jesus. Okay, So I want to talk about,
- 17:26Speaker 1: like beyond the uh, the implications regarding Nami and her influence. Uh,
- 17:37Speaker 1: I want to talk about what it means that Zeus
- 17:41Speaker 1: is into these like storm cloud things. You know, what's
- 17:47Speaker 1: kind of funny you guys. And I am certain this
- 17:50Speaker 1: is on purpose, but I literally didn't think of it
- 17:54Speaker 1: until this second. Is basically what winds up being the
- 18:00Speaker 1: Achilles Heel for Zeus is the same thing that is
- 18:05Speaker 1: big Mom's achilles heel, which, considering that Zeus is made
- 18:09Speaker 1: from a piece of her soul, makes sense. But like,
- 18:15Speaker 1: what I mean is it's a hunger thing. It's a
- 18:20Speaker 1: desire for a tasty treat that causes Zeus to completely
- 18:25Speaker 1: abandon his mom and take off. So even the little
- 18:31Speaker 1: scraps of Mom's soul are out here having like pregnancy cravings,
- 18:37Speaker 1: which is wild to think about. And now I'm wondering,
- 18:43Speaker 1: is there something that we can feed what's his name, Perseus?
- 18:49Speaker 1: Is there some snack that we can get him hooked on?
- 18:51Speaker 1: You know, I don't know. There's a whole thing later too,
- 18:57Speaker 1: with one of the Prometheus than Florien. There's a whole
- 19:03Speaker 1: thing later where he swallows like the whole end of
- 19:09Speaker 1: Nami's uh clim attack thing, the like sphere off the
- 19:13Speaker 1: end of it, which has me a little worried. I'm
- 19:17Speaker 1: assuming we're going to be able to just get it back,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but I was definitely like, oh shit, has that just
- 19:23Speaker 1: rendered her totally helpless? And he turns black and gets
- 19:28Speaker 1: these like white hard eyes after he swallows it, because
- 19:33Speaker 1: evidently he gets laid out by it. But it tasted
- 19:36Speaker 1: good going down. I guess it's almost like he odeed,
- 19:38Speaker 1: you know. And I have to say that I did
- 19:42Speaker 1: enjoy the aesthetic of that, the black cloud with the
- 19:45Speaker 1: white eye, And there is just something very funny about
- 19:50Speaker 1: the fact that Zeus is so unconcerned now with Big mom. Meanwhile,
- 19:55Speaker 1: Prometheus is like, dude, what are you doing? And when
- 19:58Speaker 1: he catches up Evenally is just like, would you focus
- 20:03Speaker 1: to you? What's going on with you right now? And
- 20:09Speaker 1: the strike on King Bomb, it seems like Kingbomb is
- 20:18Speaker 1: dead again. I don't really think this if if we
- 20:22Speaker 1: were doing deaths, he'd be dead. If we are doing
- 20:25Speaker 1: what One Piece does, we will find him in very
- 20:28Speaker 1: bad shape eventually later and he will recover. But that
- 20:35Speaker 1: ends up with all of our friends having to be
- 20:39Speaker 1: on foot for a minute. And then there's a lot
- 20:44Speaker 1: of what's the word I want? A lot of disorientation
- 20:50Speaker 1: happening in these episodes, And once they reach the woods,
- 20:55Speaker 1: there's some mention about how even if you are able
- 21:00Speaker 1: to get into the woods and continue to travel without
- 21:05Speaker 1: being attacked, if the trees are constantly moving around, you
- 21:10Speaker 1: are going to lose your train of direction. Is that
- 21:16Speaker 1: the way you want to say that, I guess, and
- 21:20Speaker 1: probably go in circles, which is the kind of thing
- 21:22Speaker 1: that like is I believe scientifically has been proven human
- 21:28Speaker 1: beings want to do. Have y'all ever had this happen.
- 21:31Speaker 1: This was something that I encountered, having gotten lost in
- 21:35Speaker 1: the woods one time, and it was the sort of
- 21:37Speaker 1: thing where I was not in any real danger, but
- 21:41Speaker 1: I was beginning to freak out just a little, and
- 21:46Speaker 1: it was far enough away from anybody that it would
- 21:49Speaker 1: be a bit of a problem if I weren't out
- 21:52Speaker 1: of there by the time it got dark, and it
- 21:53Speaker 1: was starting to get dark, so it wasn't really like
- 21:56Speaker 1: a crisis, but I was uncomfortable, and I remember I
- 22:02Speaker 1: didn't it wasn't like I had a phone at the time,
- 22:05Speaker 1: and I was trying to orient myself. And I finally
- 22:09Speaker 1: like peeled a bit of bark off a tree or
- 22:11Speaker 1: something and walked and walked, and I would have sworn
- 22:16Speaker 1: on a stack of Bibles that I was going in
- 22:18Speaker 1: a straight line. And I eventually walked right past that
- 22:22Speaker 1: same tree, and I felt my blood run cold. I
- 22:27Speaker 1: couldn't believe it. I was so sure I was going
- 22:31Speaker 1: in a straight line to see that tree again. It
- 22:34Speaker 1: made me feel like I was gonna throw up. And
- 22:37Speaker 1: there's a you know that horror movie, The Blair Witch Project.
- 22:40Speaker 1: When I watched that, it was after this had happened
- 22:43Speaker 1: to me. And there's a point in that movie where
- 22:45Speaker 1: they retrace their own steps and realize that they've just
- 22:49Speaker 1: gone in a giant circle and they all begin to
- 22:51Speaker 1: kind of have a meltdown. And I was watching it
- 22:54Speaker 1: just being like, oh my god, I remember that. Oh
- 22:56Speaker 1: my god. It's just the worst feeling. So anyway, all
- 23:00Speaker 1: that to say, this sort of disorientation can happen in
- 23:04Speaker 1: regular woods. You don't need trees that can fucking move around.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And even if you did have trees that moved around,
- 23:15Speaker 1: it would be disorienting, sure, but it would be like
- 23:19Speaker 1: just sort of a circumstantial byproduct disorientation of the fact
- 23:23Speaker 1: that these trees want to move. And here we have
- 23:26Speaker 1: such a terrible combination because the trees cannot only move,
- 23:31Speaker 1: but they want to move specifically to fuck up their day.
- 23:37Speaker 1: It's personal. They're being ordered to ruin things for the
- 23:42Speaker 1: straw hats so that they will die, And so you've
- 23:45Speaker 1: got trees putting in extra effort to really get them
- 23:49Speaker 1: on the wrong track, and there comes a point where
- 23:54Speaker 1: Carrot is gonna like leap up and try and see
- 23:57Speaker 1: where the sunny is that they can get or in
- 24:00Speaker 1: the right direction, and she starts to jump up, and
- 24:04Speaker 1: I think it's Prometheus that just like knocks her back. Eventually,
- 24:10Speaker 1: is it Sanji that jumps up. It's sort of weird
- 24:14Speaker 1: because I don't think Sonji's the one who jumps, despite
- 24:18Speaker 1: the fact that he like has the ability to literally
- 24:21Speaker 1: walk on air. I feel like it's yeah, Florian's saying Pedro, yeah, yeah, right,
- 24:27Speaker 1: he's the one who winds up doing that, and the sonny.
- 24:34Speaker 1: This is sort of this is the kind of thing
- 24:37Speaker 1: that's like, I'm not even going to say this just
- 24:42Speaker 1: happens in kids' properties. This is something that just happens
- 24:46Speaker 1: in movies in general, where we all know that there's
- 24:51Speaker 1: a way that this should be handled if we're being
- 24:55Speaker 1: very real about what would be smart right now. But
- 25:00Speaker 1: we also know, as we're watching, for example, a goofy
- 25:04Speaker 1: action movie, like the thing I always think of with
- 25:07Speaker 1: this is fast and furious. But the sonny is sitting
- 25:13Speaker 1: out there, and eventually we get these guys being given
- 25:15Speaker 1: an order to keep an eye on it and not
- 25:20Speaker 1: allow the straw Hats to raise anchor sink the ship.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying that you guys are fully
- 25:33Speaker 1: surrounding the ship. You want to keep them from leaving.
- 25:40Speaker 1: There is zero reason to leave that ship alone scupper
- 25:46Speaker 1: the ship. It's so weird. It's like they're giving them
- 25:51Speaker 1: the opportunity to get onto the Sunny, but then they
- 25:53Speaker 1: intend to try and attack them on the deck of
- 25:56Speaker 1: the ship. Which again, understand that we're doing this because
- 26:01Speaker 1: narratively we have to give them a chance, and in
- 26:06Speaker 1: reality they would stand no chance with everything that's going on.
- 26:10Speaker 1: But I know what a complete powerhouse the Sunny is
- 26:15Speaker 1: in terms of how it's like weaponry is built because
- 26:18Speaker 1: of Frankie just being a maniac. So you allow them
- 26:24Speaker 1: onto the deck of the Sunny, and you are going
- 26:27Speaker 1: to have a really bad day, you know, like it's
- 26:33Speaker 1: all over for you, hose as soon as they get
- 26:36Speaker 1: on there. I mean, I don't know how many of
- 26:39Speaker 1: them know how to even work the controls of what's
- 26:42Speaker 1: going on on the Sunny. Actually, there have been a
- 26:45Speaker 1: number of times where Frankie has pulled out something that
- 26:48Speaker 1: the ship can do that literally nobody knew but him. So,
- 26:53Speaker 1: I don't know if somewhere there's like an instruction manual
- 26:56Speaker 1: that he has left in case of you know, or
- 26:59Speaker 1: if it is just kind of I'm going to go
- 27:01Speaker 1: in there and press a bunch of buttons and hope
- 27:03Speaker 1: that it fires a missile or something, but it might
- 27:06Speaker 1: just result in the Sunny suddenly turning into like a
- 27:10Speaker 1: soda fountain. Who knows Florence's head can, And they'd love
- 27:15Speaker 1: Frankie's work so much they want to keep it. Honestly,
- 27:19Speaker 1: it would be kind of cool if there were an
- 27:22Speaker 1: element of that where it was, like, you know, what
- 27:26Speaker 1: they kept the sunny like as they kept They didn't
- 27:31Speaker 1: destroy it, but they towed it away because they wanted
- 27:35Speaker 1: to like study the technology of it or something. That
- 27:38Speaker 1: would be kind of a fun way to give an
- 27:42Speaker 1: extra obstacle that they have to get around. But also
- 27:46Speaker 1: it would give us a good reason for the Sunny
- 27:48Speaker 1: to still be intact and usable. But yeah, so, I like, honestly,
- 27:57Speaker 1: as I was watching it, and you know, there's the
- 27:59Speaker 1: mention of the sunny is moored at such and such
- 28:01Speaker 1: a spot, my immediate thought was, Oh, no, they're gonna
- 28:06Speaker 1: sink it. And then he just says, make sure they
- 28:08Speaker 1: don't raise anchor, and I had to take a second
- 28:11Speaker 1: and be like, oh god, this is like, you know,
- 28:15Speaker 1: any sort of action movie where the bad guy doesn't
- 28:18Speaker 1: immediately do the thing that needs to be done, doesn't
- 28:21Speaker 1: just like shoot the good guy in the head the
- 28:24Speaker 1: way that he would if he were a competent villain.
- 28:28Speaker 1: We have to do this whole rigmarole. And as much
- 28:31Speaker 1: as I understand that that's like necessary, I can't help
- 28:34Speaker 1: but side eye a little bit because I feel like
- 28:36Speaker 1: there are ways that you could do this that it
- 28:38Speaker 1: would be more, it would be more narratively, like satisfying.
- 28:44Speaker 1: You know, it's not a big deal, but I feel
- 28:48Speaker 1: like it's gonna be a big deal. It's like, right now,
- 28:52Speaker 1: we haven't quite gotten to the point yet, but once
- 28:56Speaker 1: they reached the sunny, I feel like it's gonna be
- 28:58Speaker 1: a whole thing. So, oh, it's not like I have
- 29:02Speaker 1: a big problem with it, like really in principle, but
- 29:08Speaker 1: I do wish that this were handled a bit more creatively,
- 29:14Speaker 1: which it's a weird thing to say about one piece
- 29:18Speaker 1: when all the character designs and the storylines are so
- 29:22Speaker 1: wildly creative. And then there will be things like this
- 29:26Speaker 1: that I'm like, you really seem to have spent your
- 29:30Speaker 1: entire budget of like mental creativity on designing some weird villains,
- 29:37Speaker 1: and that there was very little left for the plot itself.
- 29:41Speaker 1: We've got a bad lady who will twist people and
- 29:45Speaker 1: make juice oud of them, and that's cool, but they
- 29:49Speaker 1: don't destroy the sunny okay, I guess. And also these
- 29:55Speaker 1: two episodes are pretty much Big Mom just yelling where's
- 30:00Speaker 1: my cake? Give me my cake? I want cake? Where
- 30:04Speaker 1: is the cake? Where did you take my cake? Give
- 30:07Speaker 1: me my cake? Cake, cake cake? And I could not
- 30:14Speaker 1: stop thinking about being the voice actress for Big Mom
- 30:19Speaker 1: for these episodes and how like how wild it must
- 30:24Speaker 1: be to just go through hours of yelling about cake
- 30:30Speaker 1: for I mean, I don't even know if they need
- 30:33Speaker 1: her to do it for hours, because they could probably
- 30:36Speaker 1: just reuse a lot of the audio that she's done already,
- 30:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like it's not like it
- 30:42Speaker 1: varies all that much, but this and then the flashbacks
- 30:47Speaker 1: where she's wanting those cakes. You know, it's like a
- 30:49Speaker 1: different word, so they couldn't reuse stuff. But it is
- 30:54Speaker 1: just the one thing that she keeps repeating whatever it
- 30:58Speaker 1: is that she is craving at that moment, and being
- 31:01Speaker 1: the voice actress, it must get a little bit boring
- 31:05Speaker 1: after a while to just keep yelling it. We also
- 31:10Speaker 1: find out that fucking Loofy ate a bunch of the
- 31:13Speaker 1: wedding cake himself while he was inside it waiting to
- 31:15Speaker 1: pop out. And I think it's Sanji, that's like you
- 31:20Speaker 1: were eating when you were waiting to attack. And I've
- 31:24Speaker 1: just wanted to be like, Sonjy, have you met Loofy before?
- 31:27Speaker 1: What do you mean? Of course he was eating the
- 31:31Speaker 1: cake that he was literally inside of. What it's Loofy.
- 31:38Speaker 1: The only thing that's surprising is that he didn't keep
- 31:41Speaker 1: eating until he accidentally bit a hole through the side
- 31:44Speaker 1: and gave the whole jig up early by accident. The
- 31:49Speaker 1: fact that he managed to stay inside until the appropriate time,
- 31:53Speaker 1: that's the surprising part, much more so than him eating
- 31:56Speaker 1: this cake. It made me wonder if, like Big Mom
- 32:01Speaker 1: heard that Lufy had eaten some of the cake. You know,
- 32:05Speaker 1: we already have our suspicions that she ate a bunch
- 32:07Speaker 1: of kids and her mother mother in quotes, I wonder
- 32:12Speaker 1: if Big Mom would try and eat Lovie because there's
- 32:15Speaker 1: some cake in there, and maybe you know what I'm saying,
- 32:19Speaker 1: it's a it's such a weird thing that Big Mom's
- 32:24Speaker 1: eating of those kids happened when she was really happy.
- 32:27Speaker 1: It wasn't even like she was in one of these
- 32:30Speaker 1: states of craving, because the whole thing with these states
- 32:33Speaker 1: is that she doesn't come out of it until she
- 32:36Speaker 1: gets the exact thing that she wants. And if she
- 32:41Speaker 1: if she wants wedding cake and she picks up a
- 32:45Speaker 1: kid and eats the kid, that's like she's not gonna
- 32:48Speaker 1: want it. She's going to be able to see this
- 32:50Speaker 1: isn't the thing. But as soon as she got a
- 32:55Speaker 1: bunch of that cake that she loved, this is when
- 32:59Speaker 1: she gets so happy that she completely loses the plot
- 33:02Speaker 1: and begins to literally eat people. It just is really
- 33:08Speaker 1: kinda it's kind of awful for Big Mom that whether
- 33:11Speaker 1: she's sad or happy, it doesn't matter. Everybody around her
- 33:15Speaker 1: is gonna fucking die. That sucks, ass man. Like I
- 33:22Speaker 1: just I don't want to say it's not her fault,
- 33:25Speaker 1: because that's not really completely true, but to a degree,
- 33:29Speaker 1: it does seem like it isn't. It seems like almost
- 33:33Speaker 1: like she's got a weird seizure disorder or something, you
- 33:37Speaker 1: know what I mean. I've already said before that she
- 33:42Speaker 1: needs medication, and I guess that's just really is. I
- 33:45Speaker 1: stand by that, So I'm sorry, guys. I've been jumping
- 33:50Speaker 1: all over the place, but there is just a some
- 33:54Speaker 1: like weird implications and things that come up. And there
- 33:57Speaker 1: are some fights still going on back at the chateau
- 34:02Speaker 1: where we have got the uh Germa double six guys
- 34:06Speaker 1: you know face still continuing to face off at some
- 34:09Speaker 1: of these other weirdos. The dudes that I had already
- 34:12Speaker 1: mentioned before that are so strange looking, those like giants
- 34:16Speaker 1: with the huge, huge heads, and the like main center
- 34:25Speaker 1: guy with the hat that's got that happy face on it.
- 34:28Speaker 1: It seems like that face is basically like a laser
- 34:32Speaker 1: gun or like I keep wanting to say, like a
- 34:35Speaker 1: needle grenade, but a grenade flies outward. It's a They
- 34:42Speaker 1: are a needle like projectiles and it just purses, its
- 34:48Speaker 1: slips and blows and they go flying and they almost
- 34:52Speaker 1: do get this first guy, and I do enjoy that.
- 34:57Speaker 1: The uh pirate says something you made me go all out,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and then he gets kicked in the face and bro
- 35:05Speaker 1: says to him, Oh, you're going all out, and is
- 35:08Speaker 1: just very like dismissive and shitty to him about it,
- 35:10Speaker 1: And it was honestly quite funny. In the midst of
- 35:15Speaker 1: this fight, we have this moment where things impact the
- 35:22Speaker 1: tanks that a bunch of these super soldiers that are
- 35:29Speaker 1: being brewed up are floating in and I keep forgetting
- 35:36Speaker 1: the fact that, like the way that German double six
- 35:39Speaker 1: works is that they are not a country that they
- 35:44Speaker 1: are traveling from. They are a country asterisk that is
- 35:50Speaker 1: a floating island that travels basically, So I keep forgetting
- 35:55Speaker 1: that all of these soldiers are here with us. This
- 35:59Speaker 1: isn't like Big Mom wants to absorb them so that
- 36:02Speaker 1: she can go to their territory and sees things. No,
- 36:07Speaker 1: with them just coming to the wedding, they brought all
- 36:09Speaker 1: of that with them, so it's very accessible, which really sucks.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't. It seems now that the you know,
- 36:21Speaker 1: three sons are able to take care of things two sons,
- 36:26Speaker 1: three three sons, so that Big Mom won't get her
- 36:31Speaker 1: hands on those guys. But it is like it just
- 36:35Speaker 1: made me suddenly realize how vulnerable German double six is.
- 36:40Speaker 1: That traveling around. They always have all their property with them.
- 36:43Speaker 1: It's like having it's like living out of an RV.
- 36:48Speaker 1: And you know, in my current situation, somebody steals my car,
- 36:53Speaker 1: that really sucks. But I can go home and I
- 36:56Speaker 1: can deal with my car being stolen from my house.
- 37:00Speaker 1: You steal your RV and you got nowhere else to go.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Everything is gone, you know. And in a way, I
- 37:09Speaker 1: think that was their strength because of the way that
- 37:12Speaker 1: they functioned, But in a situation like this, it's definitely
- 37:16Speaker 1: a fucking downside. So let's see, I'm trying to find
- 37:21Speaker 1: the spot here. Oh my god, I forgot about when
- 37:23Speaker 1: Nami asks Zeus to be her servant essentially, and here
- 37:30Speaker 1: is Sanji off to the side, just yelling that he
- 37:35Speaker 1: would be glad to as if she's talking to him.
- 37:39Speaker 1: So here goes another thing that I want to mention,
- 37:41Speaker 1: which is pudding. I am very excited to report that
- 37:47Speaker 1: it seems that putting is on our side. After all.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I was not sure. I really was, like I was,
- 37:54Speaker 1: like I would say I was seventy percent where I
- 37:59Speaker 1: was pretty you sure, But if she if it wound
- 38:02Speaker 1: up that she wasn't on our side, I would have
- 38:05Speaker 1: been like, yeah, all right, fair, and she has to
- 38:11Speaker 1: go and find Chiffon, who is inside Bechi. It's such
- 38:16Speaker 1: a weird set up, you guys. But she has to
- 38:20Speaker 1: go to Chiffon and be like, hey, so that cake,
- 38:25Speaker 1: it was a chocolate Chiffon cake. I'm the chocolate lady
- 38:32Speaker 1: and your named Chiffon, if you catch my drift, and
- 38:39Speaker 1: understandably Chiffon, initially she's sort of like moved that that
- 38:46Speaker 1: Putting his reached out to her at all, but then
- 38:49Speaker 1: she backs off and is like, I don't want anything
- 38:51Speaker 1: to do with any of this anymore, and I'm not
- 38:54Speaker 1: gonna stick my neck out to calm Mama down. You
- 38:59Speaker 1: know the way that she We just saw how Mom
- 39:04Speaker 1: behaved towards Chiffon and it was pretty awful. So Cheffon
- 39:10Speaker 1: deciding to just kind of cut her losses and bail.
- 39:13Speaker 1: I cannot be mad at that at all. But eventually
- 39:18Speaker 1: Putting convinces Cheffon by being like, look, I actually am
- 39:24Speaker 1: worried about Soanji, and I am trying to help them
- 39:27Speaker 1: because I want him to get away. So I am
- 39:32Speaker 1: not asking you to do this as a way to
- 39:35Speaker 1: help mom. I'm not asking you to throw your your
- 39:39Speaker 1: to throw back in with the family. I am saying,
- 39:43Speaker 1: if you want the straw Hats to get away because
- 39:48Speaker 1: you got invested in what's going on with them, teaming
- 39:51Speaker 1: up with me is one of the ways to ensure
- 39:54Speaker 1: that they that Big Mom gets distracted enough that they're
- 39:58Speaker 1: able to take off, which, uh, at this point, I'm
- 40:03Speaker 1: not even sure as true Big Mom is a problem,
- 40:06Speaker 1: But we now have like these flotillas out in the
- 40:09Speaker 1: fucking bay surrounding the ships. So even if they get
- 40:14Speaker 1: the cake to Big Mom and calm her down, I'm
- 40:16Speaker 1: not really sure if that would be enough. It feels
- 40:21Speaker 1: to me a little bit like, Ah, I don't know,
- 40:28Speaker 1: you guys, like, is it possible that she calls people
- 40:35Speaker 1: off because she gets her cake and so now she's
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't think so, right, Like the they ruined the
- 40:42Speaker 1: whole wedding, they stop the whole thing, so she would
- 40:46Speaker 1: still expect for them to get taken out. I guess
- 40:51Speaker 1: it's just like distracting her would just cut down some
- 40:54Speaker 1: of the headache and the immediate threat of her specifically.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I don't know what she fought and putting can do
- 41:02Speaker 1: to help them get through all of the enemies that
- 41:05Speaker 1: are now surrounding the ship. So it's a sort I'm
- 41:10Speaker 1: in a sort of weird position as I'm watching this,
- 41:12Speaker 1: because I really love that Putting is on our friend's side.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I love the fact that she's sort of teaming up
- 41:18Speaker 1: with Chiffon at this point, and I like the idea
- 41:24Speaker 1: of just like an emergency session to try and give
- 41:27Speaker 1: Mom what she wants. But things have advanced to such
- 41:32Speaker 1: a point that it almost doesn't feel relevant anymore what
- 41:36Speaker 1: Big Mom wants, Like she's just gonna be out here
- 41:39Speaker 1: rampaging while everybody else is doing the thinking work of
- 41:44Speaker 1: a battle. And even if she gets calmed down, I mean,
- 41:50Speaker 1: I guess it's just like we're going to keep further
- 41:52Speaker 1: people from getting hurt because she does trample all over
- 41:55Speaker 1: everybody when she's like this. So maybe that's part of it.
- 41:58Speaker 1: But the way that Pudding's talking about it, it really
- 42:01Speaker 1: does seem to be she thinks that she would be
- 42:03Speaker 1: helping the straw Hats. So yeah, I don't know, Saraphim says,
- 42:09Speaker 1: the regular moves, the straw Hats at least have a
- 42:12Speaker 1: chance to deal with none of them can take on
- 42:14Speaker 1: Big Mom. Yeah that's fair, Seraphim, that's true, we'd just
- 42:18Speaker 1: be uh it would They would still have a bunch
- 42:21Speaker 1: of stuff to contend with, but it wouldn't be so
- 42:25Speaker 1: completely outside of their abilities. Big Mom is a really
- 42:29Speaker 1: fascinating villain because I just don't think it's Duffamingo was
- 42:42Speaker 1: an enemy that was genuinely really intimidating initially, and like
- 42:50Speaker 1: on paper, he remains very intimidating. His abilities are crazy,
- 42:55Speaker 1: so I'm not trying to pretend that it's like he
- 43:00Speaker 1: is suddenly like weak looking back on him, he isn't.
- 43:05Speaker 1: But I think that the extent to which that last
- 43:10Speaker 1: fight between him and Lufy was drawn out, it just
- 43:15Speaker 1: sort of sapped away a lot of the intimidation factor
- 43:20Speaker 1: from him, and Big Mom is still hitting that intimidation
- 43:27Speaker 1: thing for me even now, And I'm worried that if
- 43:32Speaker 1: we like keep on this for too long, but that
- 43:35Speaker 1: will kind of go away. I'm hoping not, but I
- 43:40Speaker 1: remember with Do Flamingo, Lufy like trying to go at
- 43:45Speaker 1: him pretty early on and genuinely being like, oh my god,
- 43:49Speaker 1: he's like outclassed here. Lufy is out of his depth,
- 43:54Speaker 1: and yet there was always this sense of just like,
- 43:58Speaker 1: but he'll get through it. But he'll push through it.
- 44:01Speaker 1: With Big Mom, I really feel like you need to
- 44:07Speaker 1: leave and regroup and take another two years sabbatical and
- 44:11Speaker 1: then come back. Like I have no doubt, of course
- 44:17Speaker 1: that because of what the nature of the show is,
- 44:20Speaker 1: that Lufi will defeat Big Mom, but in terms of
- 44:24Speaker 1: the effect that Oda has managed to make Big Mom
- 44:28Speaker 1: have on me, I feel like I want him to
- 44:32Speaker 1: commit and make Big Mom somebody that we have got
- 44:36Speaker 1: to come back for when we're more powerful, and like
- 44:41Speaker 1: see the way that we have adapted to the weird
- 44:44Speaker 1: shit that she can do and that her family can do.
- 44:47Speaker 1: And I don't think I'm gonna get that. I might,
- 44:51Speaker 1: I might be wrong, Like maybe I will, but uh,
- 44:54Speaker 1: I really like the it's it's it's like a combination.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Big Mom's powers are so bonkers. She can literally like
- 45:07Speaker 1: yank your life force out of your body. That's crazy pants.
- 45:12Speaker 1: And then there's like these rampages where she becomes basically invulnerable.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Plus she's humongous, so there's just the sheer effect of
- 45:22Speaker 1: like being Godzilla walking downtown Japan. And then we've got
- 45:28Speaker 1: her scary ass family who all have these abilities that
- 45:33Speaker 1: are very very like specific and mostly very combat oriented. Yeah,
- 45:41Speaker 1: it feels do. Flamingo's henchmen, none of them really felt
- 45:49Speaker 1: all that intimidating to me, except for the little girl
- 45:54Speaker 1: who could erase people's memories and turn them into toys
- 45:56Speaker 1: whose name I've forgotten already, and she to such a
- 46:00Speaker 1: degree that it was almost ridiculous, you know, Big Mom's henchmen.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Despite the fact that a lot of them have been defeated,
- 46:11Speaker 1: I'm still worried about him. You know. It's like you
- 46:14Speaker 1: defeated them so that you could run away. You didn't
- 46:16Speaker 1: defeat them so that you could stand over them and
- 46:19Speaker 1: be the victor. You just managed to, like escape, which
- 46:23Speaker 1: isn't quite the same thing. Sarahim says, Dophie is scary.
- 46:36Speaker 1: He's good, but nothing that much greater than things we've
- 46:38Speaker 1: already seen. Big Mom is just a fucking juggernaut. Juggernaut
- 46:43Speaker 1: is a good word. Yeah, Florian says, I really like
- 46:46Speaker 1: her and glad to see you enjoy her, or at
- 46:48Speaker 1: least are impressed by her, And then Floren says, not
- 46:51Speaker 1: the sennor Pink slander. Yeah, Look, Senior Pink was a
- 46:55Speaker 1: good fighter, but I was never like worried by him,
- 47:02Speaker 1: you know what I mean? I found him to be
- 47:06Speaker 1: fantastic as a character, super interesting and baffling and a
- 47:12Speaker 1: lot of fun, especially putting him up against Frankie. But like,
- 47:16Speaker 1: at no point was I thinking Senor Pink is a
- 47:22Speaker 1: really dangerous enemy. Not really. It never quite got to
- 47:27Speaker 1: that place, Saraphim says, and this is the difference in
- 47:32Speaker 1: scale between a war lord and an emperor. Yeah, Florien says, well,
- 47:37Speaker 1: you were worried about his looks at first, at least. Yeah,
- 47:40Speaker 1: I'm worried about the looks of a lot of characters,
- 47:42Speaker 1: but Senior Pink definitely like he really took the cake there.
- 47:46Speaker 1: For quite a while, I'm trying to think who I
- 47:51Speaker 1: now would consider like the weirdest looking of all the characters.
- 47:56Speaker 1: And I'm like trying to decide if take into account
- 48:00Speaker 1: their devil fruit ability is like relevant because I just
- 48:06Speaker 1: keep thinking about this dude that is here now that
- 48:09Speaker 1: can have a genie come out of his chest, and
- 48:12Speaker 1: just how strange that is. And I don't know that
- 48:15Speaker 1: it's like exactly that that dude just looks weird by default,
- 48:20Speaker 1: but once the genie's coming out of his chest, he
- 48:22Speaker 1: looks really fucking weird. And there's that guy who like
- 48:29Speaker 1: exudes cream. God, that sounded really bad, but you know
- 48:32Speaker 1: what I mean. But uh, we've seen logia types before
- 48:35Speaker 1: that have real weird amba like you know what I mean,
- 48:39Speaker 1: So that's not really eh oh And speaking of the
- 48:44Speaker 1: cream thing, later on, we are with Chopper and Brook
- 48:50Speaker 1: and they are running to try and find the little
- 48:53Speaker 1: uh what do you call it submarine that came off
- 48:56Speaker 1: of the sunny that Brooke used with Pedro to infult
- 49:00Speaker 1: the island, and the whole like little rivulet that he's
- 49:09Speaker 1: parked in is now filled with heavy cream. And I
- 49:17Speaker 1: think that this might be again like a little bit
- 49:22Speaker 1: of a translation thing where it's supposed to be more
- 49:27Speaker 1: specifically dessert, Like I might be wrong about this. What
- 49:34Speaker 1: I kept thinking of was that this is like kremunglaze
- 49:38Speaker 1: or even whipped cream.
- 49:40Speaker 2: But it doesn't look whipped, so I don't think so.
- 49:42Speaker 1: But you know, maybe it's just the uh idea of
- 49:48Speaker 1: being so excited about just straight up cream and then
- 49:53Speaker 1: diving in and eating that much of it when it's
- 49:55Speaker 1: like a pure, unflavored heavy cream. It just doesn't quite
- 50:01Speaker 1: work to me, you know what I mean. I accept
- 50:05Speaker 1: it if that is what it is. Because Chopper is
- 50:09Speaker 1: just he's very much like Loofy in his hedonism surrounding food.
- 50:15Speaker 1: So I will accept that something that I don't understand
- 50:19Speaker 1: as being super appealing would be for Chopper because he's
- 50:22Speaker 1: just like that. But I kept thinking, like, is that
- 50:26Speaker 1: really it's just supposed to be straight cream that's been
- 50:31Speaker 1: poured down here. And I'll confess too that I kept
- 50:34Speaker 1: waiting for that cream dude that I mentioned earlier to
- 50:38Speaker 1: turn up, that that was going to turn out to
- 50:40Speaker 1: be why there was all this cream, and that he
- 50:44Speaker 1: was like lying in wait to sneak attack or something.
- 50:48Speaker 1: But I think it's supposed to be that this is
- 50:50Speaker 1: the spot where a bunch of the wedding cake that
- 50:52Speaker 1: got destroyed washed up or something like that, or maybe
- 50:56Speaker 1: even like the parts of the chateau that got turned
- 50:59Speaker 1: into you cake and icing that it, you know, kind
- 51:04Speaker 1: of went downstream like this. Oh oh, Seraphim says, it's
- 51:09Speaker 1: meant to be the frosting of the cake the castle
- 51:11Speaker 1: got turned into. Okay, so I got there eventually, but
- 51:15Speaker 1: it did take me a minute. Okay, that makes more sense.
- 51:18Speaker 1: So basically it's like butter cream, which if you get
- 51:25Speaker 1: some real good butter cream. You want to swim in it?
- 51:29Speaker 1: You do. That's a real thing. Look, I don't. I'm
- 51:34Speaker 1: sure I have talked about it before you guys, But
- 51:38Speaker 1: if you are somebody who isn't super familiar with baking,
- 51:44Speaker 1: even if you are, you may not be super familiar
- 51:47Speaker 1: with certain aspects of it, because we all have our
- 51:49Speaker 1: like focuses. Some people are very into bread specifically. Some
- 51:54Speaker 1: people are very into laminated dough. You know. But if
- 52:01Speaker 1: you have never had a cake that is specifically an
- 52:07Speaker 1: Italian or Swiss or French butter cream, make sure to
- 52:13Speaker 1: find someplace that does that and order a cake and
- 52:17Speaker 1: just let yourself have some joy. Because American butter cream
- 52:22Speaker 1: is this thing that has really become a standard in
- 52:27Speaker 1: a way that I find personally deeply offensive because it's disgusting.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I have encountered one one American butter cream in my
- 52:39Speaker 1: life that I thought tasted good. And otherwise they are
- 52:44Speaker 1: paste like and thick and gritty. And even when they say, oh,
- 52:49Speaker 1: this is a recipe that makes it extra smooth, no
- 52:52Speaker 1: it doesn't. No, it doesn't, it does not. I don't
- 52:55Speaker 1: believe you. There is just no comparison to the It
- 53:01Speaker 1: takes more effort, of course to do Swiss and Italian,
- 53:04Speaker 1: but it's not remotely the same product. In the end,
- 53:09Speaker 1: that extra effort turns it's in alchemy. It does something,
- 53:14Speaker 1: you know, and turns it into this like silky It's just,
- 53:20Speaker 1: oh my god. So I'm saying this because there's a
- 53:25Speaker 1: new bakery that just opened up downtown here, and as
- 53:29Speaker 1: much as I like to bake, a lot of people
- 53:31Speaker 1: kind of are surprised at the fact that I like
- 53:36Speaker 1: to bake and I have a really strong opinion on desserts,
- 53:41Speaker 1: so they expect for me to not really go out
- 53:43Speaker 1: and try desserts places. But the truth is, I want
- 53:47Speaker 1: to try desserts everywhere because what I want is to
- 53:49Speaker 1: find a place that does them correctly, so that I
- 53:53Speaker 1: know there's a source for me to go to that
- 53:55Speaker 1: I didn't have to make it myself. It's nice to
- 54:00Speaker 1: at least have someplace that you feel like, all right, well,
- 54:02Speaker 1: if I need a cake, I don't have to make
- 54:06Speaker 1: it myself from scratch for it to be fucking decent,
- 54:10Speaker 1: you know. And I got so excited, y'all this downtown
- 54:15Speaker 1: bakery that just opened up. I went down there and
- 54:18Speaker 1: I got and it Claire the other day when I
- 54:20Speaker 1: tell you that she was filled with real whipped cream
- 54:24Speaker 1: that had real vanilla and real sugar in it. I
- 54:27Speaker 1: took a bite of that and I was just like,
- 54:29Speaker 1: oh my god, it's happening. And then she posted on
- 54:34Speaker 1: her Facebook this beautiful layer cake. It was like a
- 54:38Speaker 1: very low key wedding cake. And I asked in the comments,
- 54:43Speaker 1: what kind of butter cream do you use? And she
- 54:46Speaker 1: said only the best Italian meringue. And I could have
- 54:50Speaker 1: literally cried because I have asked that question of every
- 54:53Speaker 1: local cake place and every time they have said American,
- 54:58Speaker 1: and I just curl up and die. In my opinion,
- 55:01Speaker 1: there is no point to doing cakes if you're not
- 55:07Speaker 1: using Italian or Swiss marine butter cream. And that is
- 55:09Speaker 1: all I have to say on the subject. Sarah and
- 55:14Speaker 1: spoil Me one Piece aka Natasha's Food Commentary Hour. I'm
- 55:18Speaker 1: so sorry. It's true. It's true. I really it's this arc, guys,
- 55:22Speaker 1: just you know it speaks to me. But yeah, I
- 55:28Speaker 1: now that I'm seeing it as like a really nice
- 55:31Speaker 1: butter cream, Chopper really makes more sense here. And I
- 55:36Speaker 1: love that like that Brooke is watching Chopper eat it
- 55:42Speaker 1: and has just sort of been mused, but then he
- 55:45Speaker 1: realizes that Chopper's indulgence has like freed up the submarine
- 55:50Speaker 1: and made it so that, you know, they can, and
- 55:52Speaker 1: he's like, oh, okay, actually that's great. Thanks. And then
- 55:56Speaker 1: they open the hatch and it's filled with more butter cream,
- 56:00Speaker 1: and Chopper, a moment ago, his stomach was so distended
- 56:04Speaker 1: that he couldn't stand up, but the second that he
- 56:07Speaker 1: hears that there's more in there, just jumps up and
- 56:09Speaker 1: is like, leave it to me. And eventually they get
- 56:14Speaker 1: on the road, so to speak. They're underwater. I don't
- 56:18Speaker 1: know what you'd call that, and there are some there
- 56:24Speaker 1: are some moments. At one point, Chopper says that there's
- 56:27Speaker 1: a mermaid and Brooke gets really excited, and then it
- 56:31Speaker 1: turns out to be a merman, and this disappointment results
- 56:36Speaker 1: in Brook like so deeply ignoring everything else that Chopper
- 56:40Speaker 1: has to say that when Chopper's desperately trying to warn
- 56:45Speaker 1: Brooke that like we're heading towards something dangerous, Brooke is
- 56:50Speaker 1: just completely tuned out and not listening at all. And
- 56:54Speaker 1: it's like, it's actually pretty funny. I actually thought that
- 56:58Speaker 1: that was well done. You know what, guys like I
- 57:02Speaker 1: was supposed to watch three episodes, but I find that
- 57:05Speaker 1: I have been just fine with filling an hour with
- 57:08Speaker 1: just these two episodes, so you know that works in
- 57:12Speaker 1: the end. So our friends that are trying to get
- 57:17Speaker 1: back to the sunny we have like a sequence of
- 57:19Speaker 1: them each doing their thing to try and make the
- 57:23Speaker 1: path down clear, and it's a lot of like kicking things,
- 57:30Speaker 1: burning things, hopping up and seeing what direction we're going,
- 57:34Speaker 1: and it seems like they're making headway, but they are
- 57:38Speaker 1: not at the beach yet by the time this episode ends,
- 57:42Speaker 1: and Chopper and Brooke are heading over there, so we're
- 57:47Speaker 1: going to, like, what's the word I want, They're going
- 57:52Speaker 1: to rendezvous at the same time. I think the timing
- 57:54Speaker 1: is going to work out. It looks like but what
- 57:57Speaker 1: we know is being planned. I'm so sorry. What is
- 58:02Speaker 1: the name of the guy that looks like a scarecrow,
- 58:05Speaker 1: who's the one that's sort of like the brains of
- 58:07Speaker 1: this operation. I know that he's named after a cheese,
- 58:11Speaker 1: but it's not a cheese that I'm familiar with, so
- 58:13Speaker 1: every time I think of him, I want to call
- 58:15Speaker 1: him Ementhaler, which is not even a cheese that I
- 58:18Speaker 1: like have had in the last ten years. So I
- 58:21Speaker 1: don't know why Emmenthaler is the one that came to mind.
- 58:24Speaker 1: It just sounds the most like a name. I guess Mondeor.
- 58:28Speaker 1: Thank you, Sarah. Em He mentions that there's these like
- 58:34Speaker 1: slugs underwater that have these It sort of reminded me
- 58:39Speaker 1: of like awesome powers and the you know, sharks with
- 58:44Speaker 1: laser beams attached to their heads. They're not laser beams,
- 58:47Speaker 1: but they're like it looks like almost satellite dishes, where
- 58:55Speaker 1: I think that they emit a kind of signal that
- 58:58Speaker 1: helps them like get a sense of what's going on
- 59:01Speaker 1: in the underwater area. So I'm assuming that those slugs
- 59:07Speaker 1: are going to really be a problem for our guys,
- 59:12Speaker 1: And because I was sort of hoping that, like we've
- 59:16Speaker 1: got this advantage of a submarine that nobody knows about,
- 59:20Speaker 1: and it appears that won't be really much of an
- 59:24Speaker 1: advantage when they have their own like underwater operators. I
- 59:29Speaker 1: guess they are censor NEETs. We learned about them on
- 59:35Speaker 1: the way in. They're used to detect ships passing through
- 59:39Speaker 1: right right right, So yeah, we'll have to see how
- 59:42Speaker 1: much good that does. But I am curious exactly how
- 59:48Speaker 1: all this is going to go down, because, like I said,
- 59:51Speaker 1: I feel like the only thing to do here is
- 59:53Speaker 1: to just run away. I don't think we're gonna win
- 59:56Speaker 1: against her.
- 59:58Speaker 2: And.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: If it does come down to like we're gonna battle
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: and we're gonna win against her, I will be a
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: little bit worried because it took so long with Do
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Flamingo that I feel like, if you're going up against
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: somebody so much stronger than him, it has to last
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: longer in order for it to make sense. I don't
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: want it to, though, you know, so I'm going to
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: try and just not think too far ahead, not get
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: myself all worried about it even and just let it
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: wash over me. But I'm hoping that it's going to
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: be more of a regroup thing and we find a
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: new way to deal with her. All Right, I've got
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: to wrap this up, But thank you guys for hanging
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: out with me. Thank you Florian for bearing with me
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: with my tech issues. Appreciate it a lot, and I
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: hope that you guys are enjoying the coverage. Until next time, to.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: The Loom motherfuckers.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled network. Pat
