- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the Chicken Coop.
- 0:30So I happen to be in Costco. Well, happening to be in Costco
- 0:34is kind of an interesting situation for me because I'm
- 0:36often in Costco. It's one of my favorite places
- 0:38to go and shop. I love that they have just a
- 0:42variety of everything there. And I I get the girls a lot of
- 0:45vegetables in there. So it's really handy for me,
- 0:49especially when I'm not growing any vegetables that it can be
- 0:52there. But nonetheless, this is a story
- 0:54from the heart that happened in Costco, which I thought was just
- 0:57so crazy. So I'm walking through doing my
- 1:01normal thing, checking off my list, getting my normal stuff,
- 1:05and I always walk by the flower section and often I don't buy
- 1:12the flowers for multiple reasons.
- 1:15But one of the biggest ones is that I really love to obviously
- 1:19have my own and I sometimes look and I think to myself, you know
- 1:23what, they're pretty, but they're pretty average as well.
- 1:27But I was like, you know, I always like to go look, you
- 1:29never know. Sometimes they have absolutely
- 1:31beautiful hydrangeas that haven't opened up yet.
- 1:34And once you put them in some hot water, they really like just
- 1:37burst forward and they look amazing.
- 1:39But anyway, I'm walking by and I'm walking slowly and there's a
- 1:43young man, probably in his mid 30s, standing there with a cart
- 1:48and he's got a bunch of flowers in each hand and they look
- 1:51pretty different. And he's looking at both of
- 1:53them. And I'm looking just wondering
- 1:55like, what is he thinking? What's in there?
- 1:56Like I'm, I'm kind of in this very contemplative state of
- 1:59life. Like I wonder why he's staring
- 2:01at them so much. And obviously it's Good Friday
- 2:05tomorrow. You know, it's something he
- 2:08maybe he's buying flowers for his wife, his mother, Maybe he's
- 2:11looking for both, I don't know. And all of a sudden, this older
- 2:16gentleman who's clearly in his 70s or 80s walks up and he's
- 2:21watching this young man with these flowers in his hands.
- 2:24And all of a sudden he says to the young man, son, buy them
- 2:29both. And the kid, the young man go
- 2:33looks at him and is like, I'm sorry.
- 2:35And he's like, buy them both. And he said, oh, oh, yeah, I
- 2:40mean, I, I can't decide. And he goes, I'm telling you,
- 2:43just buy them both for whoever it is that you're thinking
- 2:45about. Because here's the truth.
- 2:47I just lost my wife and I never bought her enough flowers.
- 2:51And the fact that you have a chance to buy her flowers right
- 2:54now, buy them both. Buy them every week.
- 2:56Take it from somebody who who wishes they had handled it
- 2:59differently. And everyone around hearing this
- 3:05just stopped. It was like a moment in time.
- 3:08Everything slowed down, everything seemed to just
- 3:11screech to a halt. And, and that young man's face
- 3:16was priceless because he was, he was getting a lesson from
- 3:19somebody that he didn't ask for that was kind of just dumped in
- 3:24his lap. He was shocked.
- 3:26I was shocked. Everyone around him is shocked.
- 3:28And the old man just turns around and he says have a great
- 3:33day. And he walks away and I look up
- 3:36and there's an older woman standing probably 3 carriage
- 3:39lengths away and she's got her eyes like pouring water.
- 3:43My eyes are filled up. The young man's just standing
- 3:46there and he looks over at us and he's like wow.
- 3:48And I was like, wow, that's a lesson if I I ever heard it.
- 3:53And he goes, yeah, I think I'm going to take that and pay
- 3:57attention to it. And I was like, you know,
- 3:59imagine if he did. Imagine if he just said, I love
- 4:03this person in my life and I'm going to make sure that once a
- 4:06week, no matter what's going on in the world, that this person
- 4:08knows that. And he just, you could see that
- 4:12it had impact. Now the question is, will it
- 4:14have long impact? Will it be lasting impact?
- 4:17Who knows. But what I do know is that
- 4:20moment in the middle of Costco hit home for that person.
- 4:23It hit home for me. It hit home for that other woman
- 4:26and probably anybody else that was standing there dumbfounded
- 4:29listening. And it just it's a great
- 4:32reminder. So I wanted to share it all with
- 4:35you because listen, it's the lessons are all around us all
- 4:39the time. You just have to open your eyes,
- 4:41open your ears, open your heart and take things in because once
- 4:45you do, it changes everything, my friends.
- 4:48So buy both bunch of flowers. I mean, I it to me it, it's
- 4:53pretty simple. I never have a hard time with
- 4:55that part. But I do have a hard time with
- 4:57other things because I'm human. So I can extrapolate the lesson
- 5:02and take it forward with me. But I hope you guys have a
- 5:05blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:07Bye.
