- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it's your favorite time
- 0:04Speaker 1: of week. You download the crazy sheet and you get
- 0:06Speaker 1: ready to talk some college football with Mark and Scott. Brother,
- 0:09Speaker 1: I am here in the college football podcasting studio. You
- 0:12Speaker 1: are out on the road. We got week one behind us.
- 0:15Speaker 1: What are your takeaways from week one on a big level?
- 0:20Speaker 2: That the Big Ten will fuck you if you're an
- 0:22Speaker 2: in-state small school kid.
- 0:25Speaker 3: And you're about to win. They won that football game.
- 0:28Speaker 2: And everybody is thinking, oh, yeah, well, they shouldn't have
- 0:31Speaker 2: gotten another play. First off, it's total bullshit. Those cameras
- 0:34Speaker 2: aren't synced. The only clock that fucking matters is that
- 0:36Speaker 2: game clock. When that son of a bitch hits double zeros,
- 0:39Speaker 2: the ball game's over.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Period. End of story.
- 0:42Speaker 2: As Mike Pereira said, that's what they're supposed to default to.
- 0:46Speaker 3: They didn't.
- 0:47Speaker 2: But what I'm a bit pissed off about, they didn't
- 0:49Speaker 2: call the face mask. It should have been an automatic
- 0:53Speaker 2: first down. It was a blatant face mask. Officials standing
- 0:57Speaker 2: right there. They should have never had a chance to
- 1:00Speaker 2: throw the Hail Mary because Western Michigan should have had
- 1:02Speaker 2: another set of downs.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Totally fucked those guys. It sucks.
- 1:06Speaker 2: If the Big Ten had any character, they'd come back
- 1:10Speaker 2: and say, we fucked this up. And at the end
- 1:12Speaker 2: of the day, Western Michigan is going to be claimed
- 1:14Speaker 2: the victor. I don't think Michigan... is probably as bad.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I think there was a lot of looking forward, but
- 1:21Speaker 2: they got Bryce Underwood problems. That guy's not getting better,
- 1:26Speaker 2: so that's going to be fascinating. I was expecting Oregon
- 1:30Speaker 2: to be much better than they were. You know, Boise
- 1:34Speaker 2: I knew was good, but I really did think this
- 1:37Speaker 2: Oregon defense was going to be great. Boise was able
- 1:39Speaker 2: to move the football. Love the Boise coaching staff. Just
- 1:44Speaker 2: as a in general, just the way he conducts his business.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Also want to comment about Taylor's at Lance Taylor.
- 1:51Speaker 3: It's at Western Michigan. Let me tell you something.
- 1:53Speaker 2: That guy handled that post game as well as you
- 1:57Speaker 2: can handle it.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Kudos to that man. If you're a big school, you
- 2:01Speaker 3: need to be looking at that dude. That, that guy
- 2:03Speaker 3: handles his business.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, they're probably the best team in the Mac,
- 2:06Speaker 2: but at the end of the day, under great pressure,
- 2:10Speaker 2: you can't tell me that guy didn't want to say
- 2:12Speaker 2: we got F'd. But he but he handled it with
- 2:16Speaker 2: complete professionalism. You could teach a class in a tough
- 2:22Speaker 2: environment off of the way he handled that thought that
- 2:25Speaker 2: was outstanding. Alabama, Ron Williams can still drop a ball
- 2:30Speaker 2: better than anybody.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Put some damn gloves on. Holy shit. Did you watch
- 2:35Speaker 3: that game?
- 2:36Speaker 2: I mean, he dropped balls that seventh graders get embarrassed about.
- 2:40Speaker 3: That one ball got picked off in the end zone.
- 2:42Speaker 3: They're lucky that the kid jumped off sides, and they just.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Got an auto first down and got to do it
- 2:49Speaker 2: over again because the kid jumped off sides. He drops
- 2:51Speaker 2: a ball that hits him dead in the hands, and
- 2:53Speaker 2: then it gets picked off. You know, he's got to
- 2:57Speaker 2: be able to make the easy catch. The guy can
- 2:59Speaker 2: make circus catches. Watch the damn ball into your hands.
- 3:03Speaker 3: And he got rocked. It's obviously that he's not scared
- 3:06Speaker 3: to get hit. He got rocked.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And held on to a ball. But you could tell
- 3:11Speaker 2: it was in his head, man. And one or two
- 3:14Speaker 2: more of those and it may stay in his head.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Bama's good. The freshman running back for Bama is legit.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean, that kid is legit. I mean, like always,
- 3:25Speaker 2: they've got running backs that are highly rated. But that
- 3:28Speaker 2: freshman back is legit and going to be a player.
- 3:32Speaker 2: For those guys, really impressed there. LSU made Clemson.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Oh, my.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Oh, my.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So, a question here is, LSU looked really good. And
- 3:43Speaker 1: you could tell, like, you and I talked about it,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I think, off air, but about Lane. and the games
- 3:49Speaker 1: he plays. And I went all the way back to
- 3:51Speaker 1: when he was at Tennessee and he was sending the
- 3:53Speaker 1: girls up for high school recruiting trips and things like that.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The guy plays the game differently. And I don't think
- 3:58Speaker 1: he gives two shits if people like what he's doing
- 4:00Speaker 1: or not, because whoever he works for, he has to
- 4:04Speaker 1: have the endorsement of what they're doing before he starts rolling.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think the last time he didn't have the endorsement
- 4:10Speaker 1: of this, was when Nick Saban left him off the
- 4:12Speaker 1: bus when he was playing for Bama and fired him
- 4:15Speaker 1: when he ended up taking the job at FAU, which
- 4:17Speaker 1: that's beside the point.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I think he fired him because they were tired of
- 4:20Speaker 2: getting him out of Innisfree, but that's a whole other story.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But the point is that, like, with all the distractions
- 4:29Speaker 1: that were going on around the LSU program because of
- 4:32Speaker 1: this and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and, like,
- 4:35Speaker 1: they came out and absolutely woodshed at Clemson. And I
- 4:39Speaker 1: mean– And you and I have watched the default of
- 4:41Speaker 1: Clemson over the last several years. And I honestly think
- 4:44Speaker 1: you've got to realize that team has not been relevant
- 4:47Speaker 1: since 2019 when they played for the national championship and
- 4:50Speaker 1: got trucked. Now, they did make the playoffs again once
- 4:53Speaker 1: after that in 2020. But that team hasn't been good.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And they're hanging on to this national title. You know
- 5:01Speaker 1: what it reminds me of, Scott? It reminds me of
- 5:03Speaker 1: the end of the Bobby Bowden experience. where you took
- 5:06Speaker 1: a coach that took the program and took it to
- 5:08Speaker 1: the highest of high levels that it could be in
- 5:11Speaker 1: and ended up having to fire him because he wasn't
- 5:13Speaker 1: going to walk off the stage himself. And it was fine,
- 5:18Speaker 1: but I kind of feel like that's where we're at
- 5:19Speaker 1: with Dabo. That team had no separation from the wide receivers,
- 5:24Speaker 1: nothing athletically looking. Defensively, if they don't score in the
- 5:28Speaker 1: fourth quarter on that 78-yard drive, however many plays it was,
- 5:33Speaker 1: that team would have finished the game with less than
- 5:35Speaker 1: 100 yards total offense, 100 yards. And I'm not talking
- 5:39Speaker 1: about in week eight or nine when you've got tape
- 5:42Speaker 1: and you've got, you know, scheme, everything. We're talking about
- 5:45Speaker 1: week one. You have to come out with a game
- 5:47Speaker 1: plan that you're going to run and just got housed
- 5:51Speaker 1: the whole way through. And so if you're a Clemson fan,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you've got to be thinking this has
- 5:56Speaker 1: got to be the end for him, but I don't know.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Flipping around, staying in the ACC real quick with Miami
- 6:01Speaker 1: going out to Stanford, traveling all the way across the country. And,
- 6:05Speaker 1: I mean, that Miami team, you know, I know last year, Malachi, Tony,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I don't know if Stanford was like, look, we're going
- 6:13Speaker 1: to keep running, man, because we're going to get some tape,
- 6:16Speaker 1: but because we're not going to double team or rock
- 6:18Speaker 1: into a zone. Malachi, Tony was open like it was
- 6:20Speaker 1: an intramural game. The dude was running just post routes
- 6:24Speaker 1: and flag routes. I mean, everything was open all day long.
- 6:27Speaker 1: It was crazy. I mean, set a school record, 263
- 6:31Speaker 1: yards or something like that receiving in one game. And
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm not talking about like he went to Wisconsin. He's
- 6:36Speaker 1: at Miami. I mean, there's Hall of Famers that played
- 6:38Speaker 1: wide receiver there. And so, yeah, that team is going
- 6:41Speaker 1: to be really good.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Mensa looked great, too. I think people– because Tony was great, man,
- 6:48Speaker 2: he was fabulous. I mean, he looked really, really good.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I think they're good. They did not run the football
- 6:55Speaker 2: nearly as well as I thought, especially when it mattered.
- 6:59Speaker 2: as well as I thought they would be able to,
- 7:01Speaker 2: but I think that will come. Crystal ball being an
- 7:04Speaker 2: offensive guy, offensive line guy, I think that'll get solved.
- 7:07Speaker 3: But I agree with you.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Miami's a legit national title team. They keep Coney, Fletcher,
- 7:14Speaker 2: and Mensah healthy, and that's a legit national title team.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I would agree with that completely. It's going to be
- 7:21Speaker 1: a good team. I mean, it really is.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Notre Dame, I want to talk about that for a sec,
- 7:25Speaker 2: because I do think Wisconsin came out and played well,
- 7:28Speaker 2: but man, That second half, Notre Dame, boy, they look good.
- 7:33Speaker 3: That's a good football team, too. I love C.J. Carr,
- 7:36Speaker 3: always have. Told you that preseason.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Think he's a really, really good quarterback, and I love
- 7:43Speaker 2: the coaching, everything that goes on about Notre Dame. As
- 7:47Speaker 2: a program that I grew up hating my whole life,
- 7:49Speaker 2: it is odd for me to find myself cheering for them. Um, but, but,
- 7:54Speaker 2: but here I am, um, it is just cause I
- 7:57Speaker 2: liked the program.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I really do.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And car is everything you want in a quarterback. He
- 8:02Speaker 2: has got all the pedigree. I mean, you know, son
- 8:06Speaker 2: of coaches, you know, I guess grandson of a really
- 8:09Speaker 2: famous coach.
- 8:10Speaker 3: I mean, you gotta be, you gotta be excited.
- 8:13Speaker 2: If you're Notre Dame with that schedule, you know, you're
- 8:16Speaker 2: pretty much in the playoff, you know, it. And especially
- 8:20Speaker 2: after winning that game, that, That pretty much puts you in.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And so you got to get– you got to be
- 8:25Speaker 2: really excited if you're Notre Dame. Ole Miss, defense not
- 8:29Speaker 2: nearly as good as I thought it was going to be.
- 8:31Speaker 2: In fact, I will tell you that I think both
- 8:33Speaker 2: those defenses are garbage. I don't think the offenses were
- 8:36Speaker 2: nearly as good as the defenses were bad. Too many
- 8:39Speaker 2: busted coverages, too many busted plays. I did not– I
- 8:44Speaker 2: was completely unimpressed with both defensive sides of the football team.
- 8:50Speaker 3: In that ball game.
- 8:51Speaker 2: So that game was a little bit of.
- 8:54Speaker 3: A shocker to me. Fascinated to get going this weekend.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Camario Taylor, we took the Bulldogs.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Man, that kid is different. I mean, he is different.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I still don't know how good that offensive line is
- 9:08Speaker 2: because it couldn't run it when it mattered. State's got
- 9:12Speaker 2: a couple of really good young backs as well that
- 9:14Speaker 2: are freshmen that I think are going to be really,
- 9:17Speaker 2: really good. The Hill kids are going to be I
- 9:19Speaker 2: think he's going to get a chance to be a
- 9:20Speaker 2: superstar for Mississippi State, which is a fascinating story with
- 9:25Speaker 2: his– I believe it is his uncle that is the
- 9:29Speaker 2: running back at Alabama.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Yes, that is correct.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I said uncle. That is his age, basically. This is
- 9:38Speaker 2: a great story. I don't want to go too much
- 9:40Speaker 2: into it. But Demetrius Hill, an ex-Mississippi State football player,
- 9:46Speaker 2: his son slash– And then his son has obviously has
- 9:50Speaker 2: a son. So anyway, it's an interesting it's an interesting dynamic.
- 9:55Speaker 3: But Kamario Taylor's a real deal.
- 9:57Speaker 2: He is the real deal. The state have enough pieces
- 10:00Speaker 2: around him to A, keep him healthy. And can that
- 10:03Speaker 2: line give him the time.
- 10:05Speaker 3: To be aggressive?
- 10:06Speaker 2: They clearly talked to him about getting down, which may
- 10:09Speaker 2: keep him healthy. This weekend's a fascinating game. That line's
- 10:13Speaker 2: down to one and a half. We'll talk about it,
- 10:15Speaker 2: but I thought Kamario Taylor was really good. So Some
- 10:18Speaker 2: interesting games this weekend. Oklahoma State, got to talk about that.
- 10:22Speaker 2: They looked awful, got completely dominated by Tulsa. That was a,
- 10:28Speaker 2: you know, that I was not expecting. I mean, I
- 10:32Speaker 2: knew they might could lose that game. Tulsa was going
- 10:34Speaker 2: to be a pretty good football team. Did not expect
- 10:36Speaker 2: them to get dominated at the line of scrimmage the
- 10:38Speaker 2: way they did. So I was expecting them to be
- 10:40Speaker 2: able to move the football better.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Couldn't at all. That was interesting. Georgia going and just
- 10:46Speaker 3: putting wood.
- 10:48Speaker 2: You know, they're showing all the stats about them not covering,
- 10:50Speaker 2: and Georgia just comes out and hangs a 60 ball
- 10:52Speaker 2: on them. So going to be a lot going on.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Burt has got an offense. I don't know what the
- 10:58Speaker 2: hell to think. That was unexpected. So, you know, a
- 11:04Speaker 2: lot of good football. Glad to have it back.
- 11:06Speaker 3: But, man, excited about week two, Mark.
- 11:09Speaker 1: So I want to start one thing. We're going to
- 11:10Speaker 1: do this podcast. I'm going to do it this year.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Every game, every week, you pick. We're going to take
- 11:15Speaker 1: a $ 100 unit. and we can either cut it in
- 11:18Speaker 1: half or we can put it all in. And every
- 11:21Speaker 1: week we're going to bet a future. We'll have to
- 11:23Speaker 1: use calci or draft kings or something like that on
- 11:26Speaker 1: a– based on what we saw this week, what team
- 11:30Speaker 1: do you think could play for the national– or could
- 11:32Speaker 1: win the national championship? And if it's– if the two
- 11:35Speaker 1: teams that I was most impressed with walking off the
- 11:38Speaker 1: field week one would probably be– after week one, I
- 11:44Speaker 1: got to put– I'm going to nominate the LSU Tigers.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I thought they looked very complete for game one. You know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: everybody talked about that roster looked really good. I think
- 11:53Speaker 1: the Miami hurricanes looked really good in that space. I
- 11:58Speaker 1: think Notre Dame still looks pretty good, but they've got,
- 12:00Speaker 1: you know, some work to do, I think, to improve there. But, yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 1: if I were going to put 100– if you were
- 12:06Speaker 1: going to put 100 bucks down on one team to
- 12:08Speaker 1: win the Natty, based on what you saw just last week,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and it could change for next week because we're trying
- 12:14Speaker 1: to set some positions up here, how would you allocate
- 12:17Speaker 1: that money?
- 12:18Speaker 3: I would still take Miami.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Because I think– because I trust Mensah more than I
- 12:25Speaker 2: trust Sam Leavitt. let's see what Levitt can do when
- 12:29Speaker 2: he's actually getting pressure and somebody's actually getting after his ass.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Sure.
- 12:32Speaker 2: And he's in a tough environment. Let's see what he
- 12:35Speaker 2: can do. I'm telling you, he's got a– I'm never
- 12:37Speaker 2: going to believe they can win the national title until
- 12:42Speaker 2: he proves to me he can do it in a
- 12:44Speaker 2: big road game in a Southeastern Conference environment. And we're
- 12:47Speaker 2: going to find out next week. I mean, they go
- 12:50Speaker 2: to Oxford. You're going to get to that place. It's
- 12:52Speaker 2: going to be Zeus for that game. So he gets
- 12:54Speaker 2: a chance to prove it next week. But after watching
- 12:58Speaker 2: how ineffective he was in Starkville last year in a
- 13:01Speaker 2: tough environment while he was under pressure, I got to
- 13:06Speaker 2: see him do it. So before I do it, I'm
- 13:07Speaker 2: going to trust Mensah more. I would go the Hurricanes.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I agree. But right now, looks like on DraftKings, we
- 13:15Speaker 1: can get the Miami Hurricanes at 9-1 to win the
- 13:18Speaker 1: national championship, putting that bet in. We're going to do
- 13:21Speaker 1: it each week, Scott. We're going to have a pretty
- 13:23Speaker 1: fat portfolio. And knowing you and I's luck, we'll end
- 13:25Speaker 1: up and they'll be matched up in the second round
- 13:27Speaker 1: while we get to the end of this thing. But
- 13:28Speaker 1: that's all right.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yeah, what's going to be hilarious is when three or
- 13:33Speaker 2: four teams just keep doing it every week and we
- 13:35Speaker 2: got four or five hundred bucks on them.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I really need you to keep winning.
- 13:40Speaker 1: You got to keep doing this, man. You got to
- 13:42Speaker 1: keep doing this stuff here. But, yeah, I agree with you.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I mean, my takeaway was Miami and LSU were the
- 13:47Speaker 1: two teams I thought looked the best. Like eyeball test
- 13:50Speaker 1: on the field looked the best. The most surprised I was, Clemson,
- 13:55Speaker 1: I didn't think, I mean, I've got Clemson at eight
- 13:57Speaker 1: and four. I wasn't overly surprised, but I was surprised
- 14:01Speaker 1: how bad they got beat. Oregon, to me, has a
- 14:03Speaker 1: Boise State problem. I would never schedule Boise State again
- 14:07Speaker 1: if I were them. Just don't do it. I don't
- 14:09Speaker 1: know what it is, but it's something about playing Boise.
- 14:12Speaker 1: They cannot come out and do what you think they're
- 14:14Speaker 1: going to do against that team. If Curry and Moore
- 14:16Speaker 1: doesn't fucking break that dude's ankle, those two defensive backs'
- 14:20Speaker 1: ankles and take that one to the house to kind
- 14:22Speaker 1: of open that thing up a little bit, I mean,
- 14:24Speaker 1: that could have been a much different game than you
- 14:25Speaker 1: got from there.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Mark, how good? I mean, you just watched Alabama's quarterback.
- 14:31Speaker 3: How good was that fucking Duncanville team?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Well, we played them. So keep in mind that high
- 14:35Speaker 1: school team. You had Caden Durham, who's the backup running
- 14:39Speaker 1: back at LSU now. He started last year. You had Moore.
- 14:43Speaker 1: who was the wide receiver one at Oregon. You had
- 14:45Speaker 1: the quarterback at Alabama.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah, Colin Simmons, Russian pass rusher at Texas.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he's on the other side. There's four kids on
- 14:54Speaker 1: that roster that will probably all get drafted, and a
- 14:56Speaker 1: couple of them may be first-day drafts. De'Corey Moore and
- 15:00Speaker 1: Colin Simmons could be first-day drafts off that Duncanville team.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Colin Simmons is going to be a first-day. He's going
- 15:06Speaker 3: to be a first-day.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Oh, man. Diving in, Scotty. Big week, week two. Pretty
- 15:11Speaker 1: good slate. Much better than last week, which is great.
- 15:14Speaker 1: When you start looking at these games, obviously the NFL
- 15:17Speaker 1: starts tonight. We're recording this on Wednesday morning. NFL game
- 15:21Speaker 1: this afternoon or this evening, and then you've got Thursday
- 15:24Speaker 1: night games. In the NFL, the only Friday weekday game.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Can I ask you something about the NFL?
- 15:30Speaker 2: What in the hell is the Australia game not tonight?
- 15:35Speaker 2: Instead of tomorrow night. And give them another day to
- 15:38Speaker 2: get home. What the hell is that about? You flew
- 15:42Speaker 2: them halfway across the damn country. If you're going to
- 15:44Speaker 2: play on Wednesday night, why wouldn't you play that game?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Across the world. It's 17 hours.
- 15:50Speaker 3: It's like good gravy.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And that was an interesting one too. You've got the
- 15:53Speaker 1: Niners that have been over there for a week, getting
- 15:56Speaker 1: acclimated to it. And then the Rams left yesterday. And
- 16:00Speaker 1: so they're pulling the 17 hour, take a nap, play
- 16:03Speaker 1: a game, come home again. I don't know. A lot
- 16:06Speaker 1: of smart guys in the room in the NFL. What
- 16:08Speaker 1: you've got from that.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I think the Rams play better next week.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I think the 49ers may suck next week, you know,
- 16:14Speaker 2: because body clock is going to affect them. But, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 2: I'd also think the 49ers are going to be more
- 16:19Speaker 2: prepared for Thursday night, but, We digress.
- 16:21Speaker 3: That's the NFL.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Oh, only game you got Thursday night, Scott. Miami Hurricanes
- 16:27Speaker 1: will be at home laying 56-and-a-half to the Florida A
- 16:30Speaker 1: & M Rattlers. You could probably lay 56. If they
- 16:34Speaker 1: want to score 56 against Florida A & M, they're
- 16:37Speaker 1: going to. I don't know if they're going to want
- 16:38Speaker 1: to hang that on them. You get into Friday's slate.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You got a couple games Friday. Nova and Bill play.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Louisville's laying 36-and-a-half. I was– Lincoln Keenholz looked pretty good there.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I think they'll come back and get the win. NC
- 16:53Speaker 1: State plays Richmond. I got no interest there. The Cavaliers,
- 16:57Speaker 1: and let me say this, not to go too far,
- 16:59Speaker 1: but let me back up on that Clemson thing. You
- 17:02Speaker 1: go look at Clemson's downfall, and it started when Tony
- 17:04Speaker 1: Elliott and Brent Venables left that program, and it hasn't
- 17:07Speaker 1: been the same ever since. Elliott's done a heck of
- 17:10Speaker 1: a good job at UVA, and I don't know what
- 17:13Speaker 1: kind of pay structure he gets there, but in my opinion,
- 17:16Speaker 1: if you're looking around at coaches– And you're still in
- 17:19Speaker 1: the ACC, but I would tell you, you've got to
- 17:21Speaker 1: look at him. You've got to look at the guy
- 17:23Speaker 1: at New Mexico and Eck. And then I like the
- 17:27Speaker 1: guy at Western Michigan. If you're looking for a replacement
- 17:29Speaker 1: at Wisconsin next year, if Luke Fickle doesn't do it,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I would tell you that's a good fit there. So
- 17:34Speaker 1: there are still some really good young coaches that are
- 17:36Speaker 1: out there. But, yeah, that's kind of what my thought
- 17:39Speaker 1: is on Clemson. I didn't mean to get sideways on
- 17:42Speaker 1: that one. A couple games Friday night that are interesting–
- 17:46Speaker 1: Rutgers getting three against Boston College, having to go up
- 17:50Speaker 1: to Beacon Hill. Is Rutgers going to get swept by
- 17:53Speaker 1: the state of Massachusetts this year? I mean, this is
- 17:55Speaker 1: a huge line move. This line's moved like eight points
- 17:58Speaker 1: since the summertime when they put it out there. But
- 18:01Speaker 1: I don't know how you can get behind Rutgers on
- 18:02Speaker 1: this one.
- 18:04Speaker 2: You can if you watched any of that game last Saturday.
- 18:07Speaker 2: They didn't get beat. They got the shit beat out
- 18:10Speaker 2: of them by UMass. And let me tell you, I
- 18:13Speaker 2: don't know if the UMass quarterback's got any more eligibility,
- 18:15Speaker 2: but I can tell you where he's not going to be,
- 18:17Speaker 2: and that's in Amherst next year if he does.
- 18:20Speaker 3: He played pretty well, actually.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Absolutely thought he played well. The game you got Friday
- 18:25Speaker 1: night is a throwback to the old Big 8. Kansas
- 18:28Speaker 1: at home. I think this is the week. Are they
- 18:31Speaker 1: opening their new arena, or did they do that last year? No,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I think they did that last year. So Kansas is
- 18:35Speaker 1: opening up at home. You're getting five and a half
- 18:38Speaker 1: here against this Missouri team that's laying five and a half.
- 18:40Speaker 3: In a huge rivalry game.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Big game. Big game. And, you know, and Kola Nikki,
- 18:46Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator that came in with Leopold and then
- 18:49Speaker 1: left to go to Penn State, is back at Kansas
- 18:52Speaker 1: this year. I don't think the running back, Ahmad Hardy
- 18:56Speaker 1: from Missouri, I don't think he's cleared to play yet
- 18:58Speaker 1: after he got shot this summer. And so he doesn't
- 19:00Speaker 1: get down there. Kansas plus five and a half. Give
- 19:03Speaker 1: it to me, baby. I like this play here. Give
- 19:06Speaker 1: me five and a half in a big time rivalry game.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Mizzou's ranked 23rd. I know they've had some, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 1: last week there wasn't much of a game there for them.
- 19:15Speaker 1: But I can get down with some Kansas plus five
- 19:17Speaker 1: and a half on a Friday night. You got any
- 19:19Speaker 1: love for that one?
- 19:20Speaker 3: I do.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Look, man, home dogs tend to do it, especially midweeks.
- 19:26Speaker 2: This is a rivalry game. I think it's going to
- 19:28Speaker 2: be a tight game. We took this game last year.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Missouri ended up covering pretty late, but I just think
- 19:35Speaker 2: the home game, I like this opportunity. What I think
- 19:40Speaker 2: is that Kansas may actually be a little bit better.
- 19:43Speaker 2: They had the quarterback who was there forever, and they
- 19:45Speaker 2: built everything around him. It looks like they're just kind
- 19:48Speaker 2: of getting back to trying to be a football team
- 19:50Speaker 2: now instead of just really focusing on him. And so
- 19:56Speaker 2: I agree with you. I think Kansas comes out and
- 19:59Speaker 2: gets the cover and got a real chance for a
- 20:02Speaker 2: straight-up win.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you. I think they're a live dog,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and this is a big one to go with. Next
- 20:07Speaker 1: game I like Saturday morning, Scott. Army at home laying
- 20:11Speaker 1: three and a half here. They got South Florida traveling up.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I haven't gotten involved yet. If I can catch Army
- 20:16Speaker 1: at a flat three, I think I'm going to get
- 20:18Speaker 1: in on this one. This Army team has vastly improved
- 20:20Speaker 1: over last season. I like the direction that they're going
- 20:24Speaker 1: with this one. South Florida is a complete reboot from
- 20:28Speaker 1: last year. You know, Golish left and took that job
- 20:30Speaker 1: over at Auburn. And I like Army here. If you
- 20:34Speaker 1: can get Army laying a flat three, I could probably
- 20:37Speaker 1: get involved. South Florida last weekend played Bryant, you know,
- 20:42Speaker 1: and got the big win there, 59-3. That's the team
- 20:45Speaker 1: that's not even that good in the FCS level. I
- 20:47Speaker 1: would lay it with the Service Academy. They're always a
- 20:50Speaker 1: problem in that one. And so if you're looking for
- 20:52Speaker 1: something to get involved with there, I would probably go
- 20:55Speaker 1: into that space. Scott, big games. Let's get them all
- 20:59Speaker 1: out there real quick. Oklahoma traveling to the big house
- 21:03Speaker 1: to play Michigan in this one. Oklahoma's laying five and
- 21:06Speaker 1: a half. Michigan over under 43 and a half. After
- 21:11Speaker 1: you watch that game last week with your own eyes,
- 21:15Speaker 1: how hard is it going to be to back Michigan
- 21:18Speaker 1: getting five and a half in this one? And they're
- 21:20Speaker 1: taking money like people know. I mean, and they're not
- 21:23Speaker 1: taking a fucking lick of money right now. So you
- 21:25Speaker 1: know the Sharps are going to probably line up on
- 21:27Speaker 1: this thing come Saturday.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no way I would take Michigan.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Simply because Bryce Underwood does not look good, does not
- 21:37Speaker 2: look good throwing the football. but man, they couldn't run
- 21:41Speaker 2: the football. How the hell are they going to do
- 21:43Speaker 2: it against this Sooner front? I think the strength of
- 21:46Speaker 2: this football team is not John Mateer. I think it's
- 21:48Speaker 2: the defense. I think this defense for Oklahoma is going
- 21:52Speaker 2: to turn out to be a really, really good unit,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and I think that's the difference in the football game.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I think they're going to go to the big house.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I think they win by 10 or 12. I think
- 22:01Speaker 2: they win what I would call pretty easy in a
- 22:04Speaker 2: huge game because these are two of the marquee programs
- 22:07Speaker 2: in America. I mean, two of the best Best ten
- 22:09Speaker 2: programs in America, you know, especially traditionally. Hell, you talk
- 22:13Speaker 2: about traditionally, and it's probably two of the best five
- 22:15Speaker 2: or six teams in college football history. So I think
- 22:21Speaker 2: this is going to be a big game. It's going
- 22:22Speaker 2: to be a great unit. I think Michigan's better than
- 22:25Speaker 2: they showed, but not enough to stay within five and
- 22:27Speaker 2: a half.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I like Oklahoma.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Give me Oklahoma in the same one. I'll lay it.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I'll go out. I'll make the square play in this one.
- 22:34Speaker 1: That's fine. I'll get down with it. Let's stay in
- 22:37Speaker 1: the state of Oklahoma. Oregon traveling down to Stillwater to
- 22:40Speaker 1: play this one. Lines at 22.5 is where it's currently sitting.
- 22:43Speaker 1: You've got an Oregon team, national TV. Anybody who was
- 22:47Speaker 1: a fan last week got to watch. They came out.
- 22:49Speaker 1: They got the win, but they did not look impressive
- 22:52Speaker 1: one way or the other. Oklahoma State lost to Tulsa
- 22:55Speaker 1: for the second time in a row. I don't think
- 22:57Speaker 1: they've done that in, like, almost 100 years is the
- 23:00Speaker 1: blurb that I heard on that. But what I was
- 23:02Speaker 1: more shocked about with the Oklahoma State game was that
- 23:05Speaker 1: they just couldn't move the ball. Now, Tulsa invested in
- 23:08Speaker 1: their defensive line. They got some dogs on that defensive line,
- 23:11Speaker 1: guys that are going to play on Sunday. But they
- 23:13Speaker 1: absolutely shut down that offense. And I think that they
- 23:18Speaker 1: never– he never, ever thought that was going to be
- 23:20Speaker 1: a problem. And you've got an Oklahoma State– or you've
- 23:22Speaker 1: got an Oregon team that's going to come in here
- 23:24Speaker 1: after last week And I guarantee you they are going
- 23:27Speaker 1: to see a massive improvement from week one to week two.
- 23:30Speaker 1: And again, most of this roster from Oklahoma State, maybe
- 23:33Speaker 1: the reason it wasn't that good against Tulsa is because
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's all from North Texas. It's a big step up.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And I know that we saw Cignetti do it with
- 23:44Speaker 1: JMU and moving those guys over, but it's still a
- 23:46Speaker 1: big step up. And JMU was a much better program
- 23:49Speaker 1: than North Texas was when Cignetti took over to Indiana.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I think Oregon's going to lay wood to this Oklahoma
- 23:56Speaker 1: State team. I don't think the Oklahoma State's going to
- 23:58Speaker 1: have any chance of slowing this team down. Do you
- 24:00Speaker 1: have any opinion on this one? You know what?
- 24:03Speaker 2: I like this game, but I don't love this game
- 24:05Speaker 2: just simply because I need one more.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Data point from Oklahoma State.
- 24:10Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is, I know this
- 24:20Speaker 2: sounds crazy because they're playing Tulsa, which is right up
- 24:22Speaker 2: the road. I think they were completely overlooking those guys.
- 24:27Speaker 2: What are we going to get when the game matters?
- 24:30Speaker 2: I think the coaching staff at Oklahoma State is good.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I think the quarterback's better than he looked last week,
- 24:35Speaker 2: although there's a reason he had one offer coming out
- 24:39Speaker 2: of high school.
- 24:39Speaker 3: I mean, there's a reason.
- 24:43Speaker 2: And just because he had a phenomenal year last year
- 24:45Speaker 2: playing Tulsa, And that league doesn't necessarily mean you're going
- 24:48Speaker 2: to do it in this league, but I want one
- 24:50Speaker 2: more data point before I lay another big number on Oregon.
- 24:55Speaker 3: But if I'm taking it, I'm taking Oregon.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Wake Forest, Purdue. This one's at West Lafayette. Purdue's taking
- 25:03Speaker 1: in a lot of money in early week at plus three.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I can't back Purdue. I think it's one of the worst,
- 25:08Speaker 1: if not the worst, power program in the country. Wake
- 25:12Speaker 1: going on the road I think gets the win. I'm
- 25:14Speaker 1: not sure I want to lay it. A game of
- 25:16Speaker 1: interest to me is Arizona State traveling to Texas A
- 25:20Speaker 1: & M. A & M' s laying 14 and a half.
- 25:23Speaker 1: This game's in College Station. I think it's an early start.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Where's your thought on this process? I mean, how good
- 25:28Speaker 1: do you think A & M' s going to be this season?
- 25:30Speaker 1: I mean, this is a team that went to the
- 25:32Speaker 1: playoffs last year, and people just have kind of forgotten.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And so you think A & M' s able to lay
- 25:37Speaker 1: 10 and a half and get it done against this
- 25:39Speaker 1: Arizona State team?
- 25:41Speaker 3: Well, this number at 10 and a half is down.
- 25:44Speaker 1: It's 14 and a half down.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. Because when I was looking at it, it
- 25:49Speaker 2: was 14 and a half. I think that– I think
- 25:54Speaker 2: this team, and I've said it all along, goes as
- 25:56Speaker 2: Marcel Reed goes.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Is he better?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Can he be something other than a guy who's athletic?
- 26:04Speaker 2: Can he actually throw the football when he's got to
- 26:07Speaker 2: throw the football?
- 26:07Speaker 3: Yeah. That I just don't know.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I do not think that Arizona State is going to
- 26:14Speaker 2: be very good this year. When I say very good,
- 26:17Speaker 2: I'm not saying they're going three and nine, but I
- 26:19Speaker 2: also don't think this is on the verge of a
- 26:22Speaker 2: playoff team. Like I think they're on down in the
- 26:26Speaker 2: Big 12 a little bit. So I think A &
- 26:29Speaker 2: M covers this. But again, I need to see more
- 26:33Speaker 2: from Marcel Reed. But next weekend at Kentucky, you're going
- 26:36Speaker 2: to get a real data point on Kentucky at home.
- 26:39Speaker 2: And then you've got A & M at home again
- 26:42Speaker 2: against Kentucky. That's a game that I may have circled
- 26:45Speaker 2: in my book that I may like the Aggies. If
- 26:50Speaker 2: I see what I'm expecting to see, and the same
- 26:52Speaker 2: thing I see what I'm expecting to see from Alabama
- 26:55Speaker 2: up in Lexington.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Next one I like, Scotty. This is an official play
- 27:00Speaker 1: for me. Virginia Tech at home laying 19 and a half,
- 27:04Speaker 1: playing an old domino. These are two guys that know
- 27:07Speaker 1: each other. Ricky Ronnie coached at Penn State with James Franklin.
- 27:13Speaker 1: This is a team that everything they had last year
- 27:15Speaker 1: ran through their super athletic quarterback that's now the quarterback
- 27:18Speaker 1: at Wisconsin. Last week they played Mike Vick's Norfolk State team.
- 27:24Speaker 1: They won. They didn't cover. They beat them 31-7 or
- 27:27Speaker 1: something like that. Didn't look overly impressive. Virginia Tech, I
- 27:30Speaker 1: think he's taking receipts, man. And I really do think
- 27:34Speaker 1: he wants to make it known that this team's going somewhere.
- 27:37Speaker 1: And the other thing, too, is Virginia Tech has lost
- 27:40Speaker 1: this game as recently as last year, I believe. And
- 27:43Speaker 1: then they lost it again a couple years ago. And
- 27:45Speaker 1: so I think he's going to be replaying that all
- 27:48Speaker 1: week long to these guys so they don't overlook it.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Give me Va Tech and the Hokies laying 19 and
- 27:53Speaker 1: a half. Big number. I like it. Give me the
- 27:57Speaker 1: fight in James Franklin's. To get it done at Virginia Tech.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Why do I like this guy now that he's at
- 28:01Speaker 1: Virginia Tech? Because I couldn't stand him at Penn State.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I think it's a better job for him.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I think it kind of fits more of the same
- 28:11Speaker 2: feel as when he was at Vanderbilt. And so I
- 28:15Speaker 2: think this job may be more on par for him.
- 28:21Speaker 3: I don't know. I need to see a little more
- 28:24Speaker 3: of them, too. I know you love this game.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I think 19 and a half may be a touch
- 28:28Speaker 2: too much for my blood because I don't know how
- 28:30Speaker 2: good these guys are, and I mean that. I don't
- 28:33Speaker 2: know how good they are. And I know Old Dominion's
- 28:38Speaker 2: not very good, but 19 and a half's a lot.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I could see some emotion getting into this. So, for me,
- 28:46Speaker 2: I'll probably pass on this game because I want to
- 28:49Speaker 2: see a little bit more of Virginia Tech.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Next one I've got that I'll– next game up is
- 28:54Speaker 1: an interesting one, Scotty. Arizona– BYU, you know why this
- 28:59Speaker 1: game's interesting, Scott? Because both their quarterbacks are 5'9. Both
- 29:04Speaker 1: of these guys don't total 12 feet together playing quarterback.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Interesting game here at home. BYU laying 7.5 against an
- 29:12Speaker 1: Arizona team. Both of these are heavy, heavy run games.
- 29:16Speaker 1: BYU's pretty one-dimensional. I don't know who they're going to
- 29:18Speaker 1: throw the ball to this season, but they can run
- 29:20Speaker 1: the rock. Do you got any love for the boys
- 29:22Speaker 1: in special underwear up from Provo this week, or are
- 29:24Speaker 1: you going to pass on that one?
- 29:26Speaker 2: You know, the quarterback of Arizona is– I mean, he's–
- 29:29Speaker 2: I mean, man, he's been electric for, what, three years now?
- 29:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Heck, he took over– I guess he took, I guess,
- 29:36Speaker 3: really four years, three and a half years.
- 29:39Speaker 2: You know, he took over in that ball game and
- 29:44Speaker 2: played pretty well when he took over. I guess that was, what, second,
- 29:48Speaker 2: third week of the season when he took over three
- 29:49Speaker 2: years ago? Has been a really, really good player for him.
- 29:52Speaker 2: So I think you're right. The quarterbacks are both going
- 29:54Speaker 2: to be fun to watch in this game. This does
- 29:56Speaker 2: have the earmarks of a very, very close game to me.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Um, yeah, I, I would lean to Arizona. I don't
- 30:05Speaker 1: have any play here. I want to watch these guys
- 30:06Speaker 1: get into it a little bit. We'll go from there. Uh, Duke, Illinois,
- 30:11Speaker 1: you're going to play Duke in the flight and Burt's.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Are you going to sit back and watch this one?
- 30:14Speaker 1: Duke is taking a lot of money, big lopsided, taking
- 30:17Speaker 1: almost 91% of the money on the bets at plus six,
- 30:21Speaker 1: but getting 48% of the tickets. You got any love
- 30:23Speaker 1: for this game on either side?
- 30:26Speaker 2: You know, I wouldn't say I love it, but I
- 30:28Speaker 2: think Burt covers five and a half. I think he
- 30:31Speaker 2: covers five and a half. His team's better than I
- 30:33Speaker 2: thought they were. The only reason I'm not, because I
- 30:38Speaker 2: think Duke's getting a lot of love, and I'm going
- 30:40Speaker 2: to talk about this in a minute in my upset special.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I think they're getting way too much love for that
- 30:46Speaker 2: win over Tulane. That's my honest opinion. I think Illinois
- 30:51Speaker 2: gets five and a half. I think they cover that
- 30:55Speaker 2: at home. Remember, they went down on the road and
- 30:58Speaker 2: they dismantled Duke last year.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Well, you know, but did they end up
- 31:02Speaker 1: covering that game last year? They did end up covering
- 31:06Speaker 1: that game last year, didn't they?
- 31:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they did. Oh, yeah, they did.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Bama, Kentucky, first road game we're going to see for
- 31:12Speaker 1: this new young quarterback. Alabama's laying ten and a half
- 31:15Speaker 1: in this one. Kentucky's taking on 66% of the bets
- 31:20Speaker 1: or 66% of the money as far as we record this.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Are you getting involved in the Will Stein era right here,
- 31:26Speaker 1: or are you going to lay out and watch this
- 31:27Speaker 1: from the sidelines?
- 31:29Speaker 2: I'm expecting Bama to go take care of business. I
- 31:33Speaker 2: know I'm not buying into Will Stein yet. Do I
- 31:35Speaker 2: think he's going to do a great job? 100%. I
- 31:39Speaker 2: just think that program had a long way to go,
- 31:41Speaker 2: and I don't know that he can turn it around
- 31:44Speaker 2: that fast.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Next one we got, Scotty. Mississippi State traveling to Minnesota.
- 31:54Speaker 1: You've been talking about this one since the summer. Minnesota's
- 31:57Speaker 1: laying one and a half at home, taking all the
- 32:00Speaker 1: money in this one. You think they're going to cover
- 32:02Speaker 1: the line against your Mississippi State Bulldogs?
- 32:04Speaker 2: 100% I do. Got a ticket at five, and I
- 32:07Speaker 2: think they do. They got a great pass rusher. That
- 32:10Speaker 2: state couldn't run the football when it mattered last week.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And even early in that game, I think they're really
- 32:17Speaker 2: going to struggle. I think this offensive line is a
- 32:23Speaker 2: pretty darn good offensive line for Minnesota. I think it's
- 32:26Speaker 2: just a tough spot to go play. Marquee game, 230.
- 32:29Speaker 2: You know, first big road game for Kamario Taylor. While
- 32:34Speaker 2: I think he is super talented and a good player,
- 32:37Speaker 2: don't know that they're good enough to close this deal out.
- 32:40Speaker 2: State's good enough to do this. I think they're a
- 32:43Speaker 2: good football team. But, no, I'm going to double up
- 32:45Speaker 2: on my bet. Take the additional points. Take the points,
- 32:48Speaker 2: take the three, I guess it's four really, three and
- 32:51Speaker 2: a half that I've gained and double up my bet.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I think Minnesota wins it. I think they win it
- 32:57Speaker 2: by a touchdown to ten points.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Cal traveling completely across the country after last week's game
- 33:04Speaker 1: against UCLA. JKS, the quarterback, got a little nicked up
- 33:07Speaker 1: at the end of that one. I haven't seen anything
- 33:09Speaker 1: on the injury reports. Playing Syracuse in this one. Syracuse
- 33:13Speaker 1: current lines at three and a half. Syracuse is taking
- 33:16Speaker 1: the majority of the tickets and the money in this one.
- 33:18Speaker 1: You going to roll with the Qs, baby, or are
- 33:20Speaker 1: you coming back with your Cal Bears?
- 33:22Speaker 3: Man, come on. You know, I've already told you I
- 33:25Speaker 3: like the Qs here.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I think this is a tough spot for Cal. Look,
- 33:32Speaker 2: UCLA was good last week. They were good on offense
- 33:35Speaker 2: last week. And that was a pretty fun game to watch.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Both those teams kind of moved the football for a
- 33:42Speaker 2: pretty good bit of that ball game. But I think
- 33:44Speaker 2: it's a tough spot to go make the travel. And
- 33:48Speaker 2: I think when healthy, Syracuse's quarterback, when he plays, they're
- 33:55Speaker 2: a different football team. That team fell apart when he
- 33:58Speaker 2: got hurt last year. Remember, they won at Clemson, and
- 34:02Speaker 2: then he got hurt in that ballgame and had to
- 34:03Speaker 2: hold on to win that game.
- 34:06Speaker 3: And then they just fell apart after that.
- 34:08Speaker 2: I think they play– I think you see a different
- 34:11Speaker 2: football team than what everybody's been expecting. I like the
- 34:15Speaker 2: Qs minus three and a half at home to get
- 34:19Speaker 2: the W against Cal.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I'll go correlated with you here. I think this is
- 34:23Speaker 1: going to go over. Over-under is currently at 56 and
- 34:27Speaker 1: a half. I think Cal offensively can put up some points.
- 34:32Speaker 1: That's going to keep them in games all year. But
- 34:34Speaker 1: that defense is not very good. And you saw it
- 34:37Speaker 1: kind of fall apart last week in the UCLA game.
- 34:40Speaker 1: I think they, again, struggle in this spot here. Syracuse
- 34:44Speaker 1: likes to run a little bit of tempo. I think
- 34:47Speaker 1: the over is taking in all the bets, all the
- 34:49Speaker 1: tickets at 56 and a half. Go ahead and give
- 34:51Speaker 1: me the over in that one as well, 56 and
- 34:53Speaker 1: a half in that one. Moving on down the food chain, Scotty.
- 34:57Speaker 1: UNLV traveling right up the road from you at Denton, Texas, baby.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Over under here is 56 and a half, lines three
- 35:05Speaker 1: and a half, fighting Dan Mullins, laying points on the
- 35:08Speaker 1: road after coming back from the island, nonetheless. North Texas
- 35:13Speaker 1: last week slowed the game down to an absolute crawl
- 35:17Speaker 1: and hung around for a long time with that Indiana
- 35:20Speaker 1: team before they finally just couldn't do it anymore. Did
- 35:23Speaker 1: they bounce back this week and get the three? And
- 35:25Speaker 1: then do they win the game at home? Does UNLV cover?
- 35:29Speaker 1: How are we playing this one?
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm not going to call for them to win, but
- 35:32Speaker 2: I am going to call for North Texas to cover.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I like Neil Brown as a football coach.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I think he did a better job putting that roster
- 35:39Speaker 2: together than people think. I mean, they had to bring
- 35:41Speaker 2: in like 50 people because, obviously, that whole team went
- 35:45Speaker 2: to Oklahoma State. So he's come in and done a
- 35:48Speaker 2: pretty good job of putting the pieces back together. Again,
- 35:52Speaker 2: big travel, big travel, only a two-hour time span, but, man,
- 35:56Speaker 2: they're still coming back from Hawaii. And that was a
- 36:00Speaker 2: that was a that's a big trip for UNLV. And
- 36:04Speaker 2: then coming back, I just think North Texas is hanging on.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I'm not going to call for the upset, but I
- 36:10Speaker 2: am going to call for him to cover the three
- 36:11Speaker 2: and a half. I think this is a close football game.
- 36:13Speaker 2: It's all going to get down to how slow North
- 36:16Speaker 2: Texas wants to play.
- 36:18Speaker 3: But then.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Dan doesn't have anybody to throw the football. They got
- 36:22Speaker 2: to run the football. And that makes them a one-dimensional
- 36:25Speaker 2: football team. They have not been, and we talked about this,
- 36:29Speaker 2: as good without the center injury. So I think North
- 36:33Speaker 2: Texas is going to be able to.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Keep this game tight. Memphis Tigers traveling up to Boise,
- 36:41Speaker 1: getting eight and a half over-unders at 54 in this one. Boise,
- 36:46Speaker 1: after what you saw on TV last week, will be
- 36:49Speaker 1: the biggest public play, if I had to guess. Got
- 36:52Speaker 1: to be one of the biggest public plays that you're
- 36:54Speaker 1: going to see this week. I have a feeling you're
- 36:56Speaker 1: going contrarian. Talk to me about it.
- 36:59Speaker 3: I do. I like Memphis here.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Eight and a half exactly because of that. That was
- 37:03Speaker 2: such a huge game for Boise. I mean, they laid
- 37:06Speaker 2: it on the line. And I just think this Memphis
- 37:09Speaker 2: defense is going to be good enough to keep this
- 37:11Speaker 2: game close. They're going to be able to keep it
- 37:13Speaker 2: around a touchdown. The hook is a big number for me.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Can I see this being a 24-17 game? You bet you.
- 37:20Speaker 2: You know, can I see this being a 21-13 game? Yeah,
- 37:23Speaker 2: I can. Can I see it being, I think if
- 37:26Speaker 2: they start scoring a bunch of points, that may hurt Memphis,
- 37:30Speaker 2: and that would.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Be where they cover us.
- 37:31Speaker 2: But I think that defense is going to be able
- 37:33Speaker 2: to keep them in ballgames, keep them in this ballgame,
- 37:37Speaker 2: and keep it under eight and a half.
- 37:39Speaker 3: I like Memphis at Boise and the points.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Get you some there, boy. I like Memphis, too. I
- 37:45Speaker 1: think Memphis is live dog this week. I think they
- 37:48Speaker 1: absolutely can get the win here. I think they're a
- 37:50Speaker 1: very well-coached team. I like everything about what you've got
- 37:53Speaker 1: going on there. Next one I want to go to, Scotty,
- 37:55Speaker 1: University of Tennessee playing Georgia Tech. Line here is 12-and-a-half.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Over-under is 55-and-a-half. Haven't quite gotten involved yet, but I
- 38:02Speaker 1: would lean heavily on Tennessee. Georgia Tech last week, you know,
- 38:07Speaker 1: they lost both their offensive and their defensive coordinator, and
- 38:10Speaker 1: I think that shined through in that Colorado game. Their
- 38:14Speaker 1: best player is Alberto Mendoza. He doesn't really have anybody
- 38:16Speaker 1: to throw the ball to. They couldn't run the ball
- 38:19Speaker 1: at all last week against that Colorado defensive front. And
- 38:22Speaker 1: I still don't think Colorado's that good. I would lean
- 38:25Speaker 1: to lay in the points anything under two touchdowns with Tennessee.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I think the defense is going to cause all sorts
- 38:31Speaker 1: of problems for this Georgia Tech team. But that's my
- 38:34Speaker 1: two cents. If I get involved, that's where I'll be
- 38:36Speaker 1: going with that one. I don't know how you feel
- 38:38Speaker 1: about it.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Mark going with the freshman quarterback for the Vols on
- 38:42Speaker 2: the road who looked good is a very, very talented player.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Another game I kind of liked, it's super gross. Nebraska
- 38:50Speaker 1: hosting Bowling Green. Bowling Green lost to Tarleton last week.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Tarleton has made it known they want to move up
- 38:56Speaker 1: into the bigger division of football. They've got a running
- 38:58Speaker 1: back that's probably going to play on Sundays. But Bowling Green,
- 39:02Speaker 1: I went back and watched the All-22 on that. They
- 39:04Speaker 1: look soft. which I was really surprised with an Eddie
- 39:08Speaker 1: George coach team. And you got this Nebraska team. I
- 39:10Speaker 1: don't know how many wins they've got in there. Matt
- 39:13Speaker 1: rules laid some wood to some folks. I don't really
- 39:16Speaker 1: like laying 29 and a half. If you're going to
- 39:18Speaker 1: do it, I would probably lay it with Nebraska there.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I just haven't quite gotten there on that one yet.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Let's get down South, baby. Let's go all the way
- 39:26Speaker 1: to new Orleans, South Alabama Jaguars headed down to play
- 39:29Speaker 1: the two Green Wave. Tulane's laying nine and a half
- 39:32Speaker 1: in this one. Over-under is 49 and a half. See
- 39:35Speaker 1: a lot of money coming in on Tulane on this one, Scotty.
- 39:37Speaker 1: What are you going to do?
- 39:40Speaker 2: Man, give me South Alabama. And it's not really loving
- 39:43Speaker 2: South Alabama. I thought Tulane looked bad last week against Tulane.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Against Duke.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I don't think it had nearly as much to do
- 39:51Speaker 2: with Duke as it did, that this Tulane team's not
- 39:54Speaker 2: very good. I was stunned. Will Hall got the job
- 39:57Speaker 2: at Tulane after what went on at Southern Miss. And
- 40:02Speaker 2: after week one, I look like I'm pretty confident in my,
- 40:06Speaker 2: in my choice that this isn't going to work out
- 40:08Speaker 2: well at Tulane either. Give me South Alabama and the
- 40:12Speaker 2: fighting major Apple whites. I think they get it done.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Quarterbacks back for major. So he's got an experienced guy
- 40:18Speaker 2: going on the road. I just think they're able to
- 40:20Speaker 2: keep this game close. That's really what it gets down
- 40:24Speaker 2: to me about. This game was 33-31 last year, right,
- 40:31Speaker 2: at South Alabama. It was a barn burner. That's a
- 40:33Speaker 2: hell of a lot better football team Tulane had than
- 40:36Speaker 2: they did here. And I think you're going to see
- 40:39Speaker 2: South Alabama give them all they want.
- 40:41Speaker 3: I'm going live dog for South Alabama. I think they
- 40:44Speaker 3: may win this football game.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I like where you're going with this all the way around.
- 40:49Speaker 1: A couple others we got here. San Diego State, UCLA
- 40:52Speaker 1: lines 12 and a half. Over-under is 54-and-a-half. If I
- 40:56Speaker 1: were to go anywhere with this, I would probably go
- 40:59Speaker 1: to the over at 54-and-a-half. San Diego State has finally
- 41:02Speaker 1: started to implement some tempo. Remember, this is the coach
- 41:05Speaker 1: that came over a number of years ago from what,
- 41:07Speaker 1: Kent State? I can't remember which one. Came over from
- 41:10Speaker 1: the Mac. Yeah, Kent State.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he was the offensive coordinator for Deion, and Deion
- 41:15Speaker 3: fired him.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Because he didn't like what he was doing with his kid. Yeah.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 1: But they run tempo now. And so they've picked it
- 41:24Speaker 1: up there. UCLA, again, I don't know if they're gonna
- 41:27Speaker 1: be able to cover 12 and a half. This could
- 41:29Speaker 1: be kind of an overlook spot for them based on
- 41:30Speaker 1: their schedule. But give me over 54 and a half.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I like what you're getting involved with there. Moving on, Scott,
- 41:37Speaker 1: a Seahawks game for the first time that I can
- 41:40Speaker 1: remember will be played in primetime. Lions 14 in this one,
- 41:44Speaker 1: Overs 40.5. Iowa State team obviously decimated by the disappearance
- 41:49Speaker 1: of their coach as he took the Penn State job.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Brought back in a defensive-minded coach at Iowa State that's
- 41:55Speaker 1: very familiar with the Iowa program. And obviously the Iowa
- 41:58Speaker 1: program lives on the defense, but they put some points
- 42:01Speaker 1: up last week. Covered a big number here. I don't
- 42:03Speaker 1: know if I want to get involved anymore. laying 14,
- 42:06Speaker 1: but I do think Iowa trucks these guys over under
- 42:09Speaker 1: 40 and a half could be tight. Iowa States won
- 42:13Speaker 1: this game the last two years in a row after
- 42:14Speaker 1: being dominated by Iowa. I don't have a play here yet,
- 42:18Speaker 1: but I would probably leave Iowa gets the win and
- 42:20Speaker 1: maybe the cover, but I hadn't gotten involved yet.
- 42:22Speaker 2: It just seems like a big number and I know
- 42:24Speaker 2: everybody's down on them and maybe it's just history coming
- 42:27Speaker 2: back to me, but I think this game, I think
- 42:30Speaker 2: this game's closer than that's what it feels, but I
- 42:32Speaker 2: think I was certainly the better football team.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Let's get to a couple of big games that you
- 42:37Speaker 1: got here. Ohio State travels down to Austin. Lines one
- 42:40Speaker 1: and a half, over-unders 49 and a half. Game breakdown, Scott.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Let's go through some theory on this. If you're Texas,
- 42:48Speaker 1: this Texas team is loaded. Cam Coleman looked good last week,
- 42:52Speaker 1: but Arch looked pretty good. They've got a stable full
- 42:55Speaker 1: of running backs on this team. O-line seemed to look
- 42:57Speaker 1: pretty good here. Ohio State's the number one team in
- 43:00Speaker 1: the country. Obviously, this is a rematch that they've got
- 43:02Speaker 1: from last week. You and I were talking off air.
- 43:05Speaker 1: If I am Will Muschamp, I go in and I say, look, man,
- 43:10Speaker 1: if you're going to beat me, you know, it's like
- 43:12Speaker 1: I'm going to take Jeremiah Smith out of the game.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I will double cover him every single play. And y'all
- 43:16Speaker 1: are going to have to figure out a different way
- 43:18Speaker 1: to beat me and see if you can beat me
- 43:20Speaker 1: on the ground or with your secondary receivers and let
- 43:22Speaker 1: Julian say and figure it out from there. You don't
- 43:25Speaker 1: think Will Muschamp's that smart to do that and just
- 43:29Speaker 1: to be arrogant enough to make his own game plan
- 43:31Speaker 1: in place. Maybe that's true. But I also think if
- 43:34Speaker 1: you're Arch Manning in Texas, last year this was the
- 43:37Speaker 1: game that he came out and everybody's like, whoa, maybe
- 43:39Speaker 1: Arch isn't that good. And nobody really paid that close
- 43:43Speaker 1: attention to him on a national front the rest of
- 43:45Speaker 1: the season. He did get better as the season went on.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Texas got better, whether they're going to get done or not.
- 43:50Speaker 1: To me, this is the game. If you're Arch and
- 43:52Speaker 1: if you're Texas and if you're going to say we
- 43:54Speaker 1: are here, to try to win a natty, this is
- 43:57Speaker 1: a game they have to win at home. That being said,
- 44:00Speaker 1: Texas is probably the worst 100,000-seat home field advantage stadium
- 44:05Speaker 1: in the country. It is not loud. It is not
- 44:08Speaker 1: a hard place to go play and win. You can't
- 44:10Speaker 1: convince me otherwise. Ohio State's going to roll in here
- 44:14Speaker 1: ready to rock and roll. I am excited about this game.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I have no idea who's going to win.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I have bounced back and forth and back and forth,
- 44:22Speaker 2: but I think ultimately– I think this is the Chris
- 44:27Speaker 2: Henry coming out party. Because I think they are going
- 44:30Speaker 2: to focus so much on Jeremiah Smith. I mean, look,
- 44:34Speaker 2: first play of the ballgame, that first touchdown pass they threw,
- 44:36Speaker 2: I guess it wasn't first play, but first pass they
- 44:39Speaker 2: threw was a 50-something yard touchdown to Jeremiah Smith last week.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Chris Henry was the guy flanking him on the other side.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Kid's a stud. He is going to be a complete
- 44:51Speaker 2: freakazoid in the long line of freakazoid Ohio statewide receivers,
- 44:56Speaker 2: the kid can get it done. I think this is
- 44:59Speaker 2: a big coming out party, but I'm going to give
- 45:00Speaker 2: you one other name to talk about. Remember saying complete
- 45:04Speaker 2: 70% of his passes. The guy is accurate and is really,
- 45:10Speaker 2: really good. And I'm going to give you a, I'm
- 45:13Speaker 2: going to give you a name, Devin McEwen, the transfer
- 45:17Speaker 2: from the beep beeps right down the road from Austin
- 45:20Speaker 2: to transferring up is that slot wide receiver for Ohio State.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I think you may see him have a coming out
- 45:28Speaker 2: party this week. So you're going to have a guy
- 45:30Speaker 2: who this is his chance to make a big, to
- 45:33Speaker 2: make on the big stage, make a splash. This Ohio
- 45:36Speaker 2: State team's got more players than just Smith. And look,
- 45:39Speaker 2: Bo Jackson's a really good back, you know? So it's a,
- 45:43Speaker 2: I think you've got a lot going on at the
- 45:46Speaker 2: end of the day. And this is going to sound
- 45:47Speaker 2: so nuts because Ryan Day has gagged. so many football games,
- 45:53Speaker 2: but I don't know that he's gagged more than Steve Sarkeesian.
- 45:56Speaker 2: So I think Ohio State's probably going to go on
- 45:59Speaker 2: the road and win this football game. The whole reason
- 46:02Speaker 2: I feel that way is I'm not, I'm not, I don't,
- 46:09Speaker 2: I'm not, I like Will Muschamp. When I say I
- 46:12Speaker 2: don't like, I don't mean as a, as a guy
- 46:16Speaker 2: or anything like that. I'm saying I just, I, I
- 46:19Speaker 2: just don't love him as a defensive coordinator. I think
- 46:21Speaker 2: he takes too many risks. And I think a guy
- 46:24Speaker 2: like saying is going to capitalize on that with the,
- 46:26Speaker 2: with the players they've got.
- 46:27Speaker 3: And, and are they going to break down.
- 46:31Speaker 2: On offense and just say, you know what, let's get,
- 46:34Speaker 2: let's get our playmakers to football on the outside. You know, does,
- 46:38Speaker 2: do they finally take advantage of cam and what is,
- 46:42Speaker 2: what is their defensive staff do at Ohio state to
- 46:45Speaker 2: take him out of the ball game at the end
- 46:47Speaker 2: of the day? I think Ohio State is going to
- 46:50Speaker 2: figure out how to get it done just like they
- 46:53Speaker 2: got it done last year. I think Texas was the
- 46:55Speaker 2: more talented team last year. And I know obviously Arch
- 47:00Speaker 2: is a year older, but I mean this. That guy's
- 47:04Speaker 2: got the world on his shoulders this week because at
- 47:07Speaker 2: the end of the day, he's got to win this
- 47:09Speaker 2: football game. Can he do it? The pressure's all on him.
- 47:13Speaker 2: I don't think there's any pressure on Ohio State. I
- 47:15Speaker 2: think that's the difference. I think they come in and
- 47:17Speaker 2: play loose.
- 47:18Speaker 3: They're on the road. and they figure out how to
- 47:20Speaker 3: get it done.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Gotcha. I like it. Now, I do think– the only
- 47:25Speaker 1: thing I don't completely agree with you here is I
- 47:28Speaker 1: do think there's pressure on both of these teams because
- 47:32Speaker 1: both of these teams didn't make the playoffs. And so,
- 47:34Speaker 1: I mean, I think you've got to– I mean, this
- 47:37Speaker 1: is a big game for both of these teams because
- 47:39Speaker 1: you win this game here, and it gives you that
- 47:42Speaker 1: spot where you could lose a clunker later on in
- 47:45Speaker 1: the season, and it's a data point to help you
- 47:47Speaker 1: get in. But I think this is a fantastic game.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Kudos for them for scheduling it. I'm excited to watch it.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I think it's going to be fantastic. Moving on, Scotty,
- 47:58Speaker 1: Ole Miss, Charlotte. Charlotte lost to the fucking Citadel last week.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I don't even know how you have a football team
- 48:04Speaker 1: at Citadel. I don't know if I want to lay 47.5, but, man,
- 48:08Speaker 1: Timmy Albins not doing a great job at Charlotte. Southern
- 48:12Speaker 1: Miss traveling to Auburn, laying 33.5 again. Don't like to
- 48:17Speaker 1: lay that many points, but you've got to think Auburn
- 48:19Speaker 1: comes out completely butthurt as bad as they played last
- 48:22Speaker 1: week against Baylor. And this Southern Miss team is not
- 48:25Speaker 1: very good. Might look at that one a little bit.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Game I want to go to that I think is
- 48:30Speaker 1: interesting is Arkansas traveling all the way up to play
- 48:32Speaker 1: in Salt Lake, play Utah at Rice-Eccles. Line here is 12-and-a-half.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Utah laying it over under 54-and-a-half. Scotty, how are you
- 48:41Speaker 1: going to play this game?
- 48:43Speaker 3: Man, I think it's not so bad for Arkansas.
- 48:47Speaker 2: I think Utah may just completely drill these guys.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I think Utah is going to cause problems. Arkansas couldn't
- 48:58Speaker 1: run the ball last week. I don't know if you
- 48:59Speaker 1: watched much of that game, but they were not effective.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And so I think up here it's going to be
- 49:04Speaker 1: a physical– I mean, because this is a Utah team
- 49:07Speaker 1: that's mostly intact from last year. It's not like William
- 49:11Speaker 1: brought the whole team with him to Michigan– A lot
- 49:13Speaker 1: of players back, defensive-minded coach. This was something that was
- 49:16Speaker 1: going to happen. Everything is intact for what you've got
- 49:19Speaker 1: there for me. Utah. I would lay it with Utah
- 49:22Speaker 1: on this one. I think Arkansas really struggles. And the
- 49:25Speaker 1: other thing, too, is you're catching an SEC team on
- 49:28Speaker 1: the road in your house. And you can say whatever
- 49:31Speaker 1: you want to about that, but that's a big deal.
- 49:33Speaker 1: All these other schools, all these other players, all these
- 49:36Speaker 1: other teams have to listen to that whole SEC rhetoric
- 49:39Speaker 1: all the time. You get a chance to play one
- 49:41Speaker 1: of these teams and you get a chance to beat them,
- 49:43Speaker 1: I think you're going to give it your all. I
- 49:45Speaker 1: think this Utah team gets it done. I like them
- 49:49Speaker 1: to cover this one pretty sizable. Scott, you got any
- 49:52Speaker 1: other games on the board that are kind of pulling
- 49:54Speaker 1: up your interest on the spot?
- 49:56Speaker 2: You know, the only game that I, you know, is,
- 50:01Speaker 2: you know how much I love the Mac Ohio-Jacksonville State.
- 50:06Speaker 2: I think that's a great game. They're traveling up to Athens. Ohio,
- 50:13Speaker 2: I thought, actually looked pretty good last week against Nebraska,
- 50:16Speaker 2: at least for the first half of that football game.
- 50:20Speaker 2: I guess it's a game that Jacksonville State's got to
- 50:23Speaker 2: figure out how to win. But I like Ohio in
- 50:26Speaker 2: this ballgame. Short line, two and a half. I think
- 50:29Speaker 2: it's going to be a quietly, a really, really good
- 50:31Speaker 2: football game.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Oh, goodness, goodness. What's your favorite play on the board
- 50:36Speaker 1: this week, Scotty?
- 50:38Speaker 2: Favorite play, I am going to go with my South
- 50:44Speaker 2: Alabama Jags plus nine at Tulane.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Interesting. I may take– They are my upset pick.
- 50:54Speaker 2: I think they're going to win. I think they're going
- 50:55Speaker 2: to win that game. I will be on the– I
- 50:57Speaker 2: will be invested in the money line. I will tell you,
- 51:00Speaker 2: I will probably have me a little two-gamer with them
- 51:02Speaker 2: in Memphis. and that's probably going to be 4-4, 50-1.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I like Memphis in here. I think Memphis is– if
- 51:12Speaker 1: you're going to roll that in, that's on the other
- 51:13Speaker 1: side of the Moneyline Underdog Parlay, is I'll take Memphis
- 51:16Speaker 1: in that one and get involved there. The other game
- 51:19Speaker 1: I kind of like, it's off the radar a little bit,
- 51:21Speaker 1: but I haven't gotten involved in it yet, is the
- 51:23Speaker 1: UAB game. I thought UAB looked a lot better against
- 51:27Speaker 1: Illinois than I was expecting them to, and I kind
- 51:31Speaker 1: of think that carries over into this week. You know,
- 51:34Speaker 1: this was a team that had done really well for
- 51:37Speaker 1: years until they brought in Trent Dilfer as the coach there.
- 51:41Speaker 1: They're laying 10 this week. I could probably get involved
- 51:44Speaker 1: in that. And then one other game, I haven't played
- 51:46Speaker 1: it yet, but I think it'll be fun to watch.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Texas State and UTSA, beep, beep, against the Bobs. These
- 51:53Speaker 1: are two teams that both want to play fast, both
- 51:56Speaker 1: want to play with tempo. I think they're about 35
- 51:58Speaker 1: miles apart. This one will be played in San Marcos,
- 52:03Speaker 1: which means it's going to be outdoors, not inside the
- 52:06Speaker 1: Alamo Dome. It's going to be hot as balls. It
- 52:08Speaker 1: gets hard to play defense at tempo when it's hot.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And 66 and a half is not a number that
- 52:14Speaker 1: I typically want to lay. It's the highest number on
- 52:17Speaker 1: the board this week if you want to lay it
- 52:19Speaker 1: to go over it. But I think this is a
- 52:20Speaker 1: game that could be back and forth all day long.
- 52:24Speaker 1: in this one here. And so I would lay 66
- 52:26Speaker 1: and a half in this one. So those would be
- 52:28Speaker 1: my two off the beaten path would be lay over
- 52:30Speaker 1: 66 and a half with Texas state UTSA, and then
- 52:34Speaker 1: lay in 10 points with UAB against the university of Louisiana,
- 52:37Speaker 1: Monroe Warhawks. But yeah, so good, good, good slate this week.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Any other games that have caught your eye that you're
- 52:44Speaker 1: going to interested in whether you're going to play them
- 52:46Speaker 1: or not?
- 52:47Speaker 3: No, I mean, look, there's a lot of games I'm
- 52:49Speaker 3: excited to watch.
- 52:50Speaker 2: I mean, I, you know, I think that you mentioned UCLA,
- 52:54Speaker 2: San Diego State. Nico looks like he and Bob Chesney
- 52:58Speaker 2: are on the same page. They looked good on offense
- 53:01Speaker 2: last week. Excited to watch them go again. Fascinated to
- 53:06Speaker 2: see who Clemson really is. Is LSU that good or
- 53:11Speaker 2: is Clemson that bad? And, you know, we start to
- 53:14Speaker 2: see that over the next couple of weeks. And I
- 53:16Speaker 2: think it's a combination of both, candidly.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Man, I just got– they looked– but Clemson, when's the
- 53:23Speaker 1: last time you remember watching a Clemson game and you
- 53:26Speaker 1: just were like, yep, that team is dominant? Because I
- 53:29Speaker 1: feel like this has been going on for three or
- 53:31Speaker 1: four years now where you're watching them play and you're
- 53:35Speaker 1: just kind of scratching your head the whole time. But
- 53:38Speaker 1: they've got the name brand recognition because of the natties
- 53:41Speaker 1: and playing for it. And, you know, we used to
- 53:43Speaker 1: love Dabo. Dabo drives me crazy now. And I just–
- 53:47Speaker 1: I can't figure out if that team is any good
- 53:49Speaker 1: at all.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll be honest with you. I don't think they
- 53:52Speaker 2: are any good. I think they're young at quarterback. You know,
- 53:57Speaker 2: the offensive line had a lot of communication issues last week.
- 54:01Speaker 2: You know, you've all seen– everybody's seen the video running
- 54:04Speaker 2: around social media of the tackle turning left and the
- 54:06Speaker 2: guy going right inside of him. I mean, you don't
- 54:08Speaker 2: know what the calls were. You don't– it sounds more
- 54:11Speaker 2: complicated than it is. But, man, offensive line play is
- 54:15Speaker 2: an intricate part of the football game. And it is
- 54:18Speaker 2: a cerebral– part of the game and you start getting
- 54:21Speaker 2: calls wrong and protections wrong, and you can have guys
- 54:26Speaker 2: look like complete idiots and it's, and it's not on them.
- 54:30Speaker 2: And I tend to lean more towards that is what
- 54:33Speaker 2: was going on that LSU just had them completely confused
- 54:37Speaker 2: in the, in the road environment and all of that.
- 54:40Speaker 2: But they looked bad at the line of scrimmage on
- 54:44Speaker 2: both sides of the ball. And that's a problem. You
- 54:48Speaker 2: know that they can go recruit that you can go develop.
- 54:52Speaker 2: And I, it, and everybody thought that this offensive line
- 54:55Speaker 2: was going to be really, really good. And they looked
- 54:58Speaker 2: pedestrian in that ball game last week. And that's being kind.
- 55:02Speaker 1: I texted you that you were like, that's, that's way
- 55:11Speaker 1: too kind. And it was, it was, it was terrible.
- 55:14Speaker 1: I mean, it was, it was really, really bad. I mean,
- 55:16Speaker 1: it was just, And it wasn't just that you were
- 55:18Speaker 1: playing LSU, and I think the LSU is going to
- 55:20Speaker 1: be good. But, I mean, they just– they looked just
- 55:22Speaker 1: lost after the first– after that interception in the first quarter,
- 55:26Speaker 1: and then they kicked the field goal. Like, literally, you
- 55:30Speaker 1: go back and look at the drive chart for that team,
- 55:32Speaker 1: and it is awful until you get to the fourth
- 55:34Speaker 1: quarter for that one other drive.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Marth only had, like, three first downs starting the fourth quarter.
- 55:40Speaker 2: They got the hell beat out of them. So, I
- 55:43Speaker 2: am literally– Fascinated to see. And look, that Ole Miss
- 55:49Speaker 2: LSU game next week is, I mean, that is must-see TV.
- 55:54Speaker 2: I mean, that is must-see TV. The Grove, those people
- 56:00Speaker 2: are going to have their hate on like they've never
- 56:02Speaker 2: hated anybody. I mean, look, I remember what they used
- 56:06Speaker 2: to be like with Jackie because they hated Jackie. And
- 56:09Speaker 2: there was a stretch, Mullen's first three years, where they
- 56:11Speaker 2: hated Mullen. I mean, like with a passion. That isn't
- 56:16Speaker 2: remotely comparable to the hate they've got for Lane Kiffin.
- 56:21Speaker 2: I mean, that place is going to be zoosed up.
- 56:23Speaker 2: I can't wait to watch it. But you just don't know.
- 56:27Speaker 2: That's the reason I say I want to watch Clemson.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Are they that bad? And the same thing is true.
- 56:33Speaker 2: This La Tech game is interesting to me. I find
- 56:37Speaker 2: it very hard to believe. that LSU is going to
- 56:40Speaker 2: go win this game by 36-and-a-half because La Tech's going
- 56:43Speaker 2: to play it like it's their Super Bowl and never
- 56:46Speaker 2: quit fighting.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Could they sneak in and.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Get a backdoor cover at 36-and-a-half?
- 56:50Speaker 3: You bet. I mean, LSU could win this game 49-14.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Boom, you got a cover. This game's never– you know,
- 56:56Speaker 2: 52– you know, 52 to– 17. You just don't know
- 57:05Speaker 2: what you're going to get. They could backdoor cover this
- 57:08Speaker 2: game because there's no way LSU's not looking forward to
- 57:12Speaker 2: next week.
- 57:13Speaker 3: And I kind of feel the same way in Oxford.
- 57:15Speaker 3: I think they're going to be looking.
- 57:16Speaker 2: I expect them to play flat because both these teams
- 57:19Speaker 2: had big games last week. They got huge games the
- 57:23Speaker 2: next week. It just feels like flat spots. So those
- 57:25Speaker 2: are some of the games that I want to come
- 57:27Speaker 2: out and see Does Golden get this defense communicating and fixes?
- 57:31Speaker 3: They're more talented than they look.
- 57:33Speaker 2: There was no excuse for them giving up the points,
- 57:36Speaker 2: the way they gave them up in that game. Do
- 57:38Speaker 2: they bounce back and recover? So I guess there are
- 57:41Speaker 2: a few games that I'm excited to watch, but a
- 57:43Speaker 2: lot of it is how do teams bounce back from
- 57:46Speaker 2: week one?
- 57:47Speaker 3: Who are they?
- 57:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you there. I mean, because that's
- 57:50Speaker 1: the biggest, you know, that's the biggest data point you're
- 57:52Speaker 1: going to get from this week is who is going
- 57:54Speaker 1: to bounce back that looked bad last week. Again, I'm
- 57:57Speaker 1: not sure who it's going to be yet. Like, you
- 57:59Speaker 1: go look at that Clemson drive chart, and it is
- 58:02Speaker 1: field goal, punt, punt, punt, punt, end of half, interception, punt, punt, punt.
- 58:06Speaker 3: Punt, punt.
- 58:09Speaker 1: It's just– and so I don't know. And Michigan in
- 58:11Speaker 1: the same boat. You know, it's like Michigan– I mean,
- 58:15Speaker 1: they went from being a 16-8 people that they're not
- 58:18Speaker 1: even ranked this week. And so I thought that was interesting.
- 58:21Speaker 1: I think a lot of that had to do with
- 58:22Speaker 1: how they won the game. So anyway, Scotty, got it
- 58:25Speaker 1: all done. Love y'all. Thank you for the download. Give
- 58:28Speaker 1: us some reviews. Share us with your friends. We look
- 58:31Speaker 1: forward to being back with you again next week. Everybody
- 58:34Speaker 1: have a great week. Scotty, travel safe, brother. Enjoy your games.
- 58:38Speaker 1: I'll talk to you next week.
