Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'll always remember this one. Thanksgiving, I'm at my parents' house.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It's a big family meal. You can picture it. There's
- 0:13Speaker 1: kids running around, you know. I've loaded my plate. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: have gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing. It's the whole it's a
- 0:19Speaker 1: whole thing. So I sit down and I have my
- 0:22Speaker 1: napkin across my lap. I'm talking to my friends and family,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and my phone rings. I look down and I see
- 0:33Speaker 1: a familiar number. It's probably not a number that's familiar
- 0:36Speaker 1: to everybody, but I recognize it as the California Department
- 0:40Speaker 1: of Corrections. I have a call from an inmate. I
- 0:43Speaker 1: glance at my plate and then at my family, who
- 0:46Speaker 1: are already giving me the do't you dare take this look?
- 0:50Speaker 1: They stare at me, and I explain, it's Charles Manson.
- 0:54Speaker 2: You have a prepaid call from Oh.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Get inmate.
- 0:59Speaker 4: It a California State Prison, Corkoran, Corkoran, California. Let's call
- 1:05Speaker 4: and were caelephone number.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I don't wait for the reaction. I step out of
- 1:08Speaker 1: the room. The phone's to my ear. Oh hell hello,
- 1:13Speaker 1: His voice comes through, scratchy and confident. Hey how are
- 1:18Speaker 1: you doing? Hay and On, I'm James Buddy Day. This
- 1:24Speaker 1: is unmarked. When a person becomes a synonym for evil,
- 1:30Speaker 1: they stop being real, They become a monster, something you
- 1:34Speaker 1: can't stop talking about and you can't look away from.
- 1:37Speaker 1: This is something that's just fascinated me my whole career,
- 1:41Speaker 1: and I think it's why I was drawn to Charles
- 1:43Speaker 1: Manson's story. Fifty years later, we're still talking about the
- 1:48Speaker 1: Manson family murders, still making TV shows, documentaries, writing books,
- 1:53Speaker 1: even making podcasts. Maybe that says as much about him
- 1:58Speaker 1: as it does about us.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I can't get.
- 2:03Speaker 6: For me.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It started with a letter that I sent him. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: told Manson that I was a documentary filmmaker. I gave
- 2:08Speaker 1: him my real phone number, and I never thought he'd call,
- 2:11Speaker 1: never in a million years. One evening, my phone rang.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I still remember the first time Manson called me. I
- 2:19Speaker 1: was at an Applebe's in Florida, eating chicken wings.
- 2:22Speaker 7: Monday night.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Football is playing on the TV. My phone rings. I
- 2:26Speaker 1: recognize the number almost instantly. I can see it's from
- 2:29Speaker 1: the Department of Corrections in California, and I just bolted
- 2:31Speaker 1: outside to answer, and the waitress literally ran to the
- 2:35Speaker 1: door trying to flag us down.
- 2:38Speaker 8: It's like you kind of gotta get in the heads.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Of The audio that you're hearing comes directly from the
- 2:48Speaker 1: original prison phone recordings. It's raw and at times distored it,
- 2:52Speaker 1: but it's exactly how it sounded when I first heard it.
- 2:56Speaker 1: The transcript is available on our YouTube channel. I remember
- 3:01Speaker 1: when I heard his voice that first time. You know,
- 3:03Speaker 1: he has that characteristic Tennessee drawl. I thought that'd probably
- 3:08Speaker 1: be the only time he would talk to me. I thought, Hey,
- 3:11Speaker 1: this is gonna be a cool story to tell at
- 3:12Speaker 1: parties or something like that. But he called me back
- 3:15Speaker 1: the next day and the next day after that, and
- 3:18Speaker 1: then we kept talking for the whole final year of
- 3:21Speaker 1: his life. He died on November nineteenth, twenty seventeen, on
- 3:27Speaker 1: a Sunday evening, from cancer. You know, sometimes what he
- 3:30Speaker 1: called me, I'd feel dread, I'd feel scared, I'd feel excited.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I had this range of emotions. But at the end
- 3:36Speaker 1: of the day, I mean, I'm a journalist. I wanted
- 3:39Speaker 1: to hear his story in his own words. I remember
- 3:42Speaker 1: telling him this and his response.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Was blunt, Yeah, that was beautiful about telling my story,
- 3:49Speaker 2: my story at all, all over the world A thousand times.
- 4:00Speaker 9: Just how.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Rome, what can you do?
- 4:14Speaker 5: Can you give me a cell phone?
- 4:16Speaker 8: Between you all?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Manson asked me to get him a cell phone more
- 4:25Speaker 1: than once. Now why he thought I could get him
- 4:28Speaker 1: a legal contraband I don't know. I still don't know
- 4:32Speaker 1: to this day. But I always played along because I
- 4:35Speaker 1: wanted to keep him talking. And what followed was years
- 4:40Speaker 1: of me getting to meet his friends, his supporters, his
- 4:44Speaker 1: former cellmates, and the surviving members of his so called family.
- 4:48Speaker 1: It was the women that really fascinated me. I wanted
- 4:51Speaker 1: to sit across from them, to talk to them, to
- 4:55Speaker 1: hear from them in their own words, what happened. These
- 4:58Speaker 1: people who are in the room when everything happened. I
- 5:01Speaker 1: wanted the truth from them, and I feel, looking back
- 5:04Speaker 1: on it ten years later, that I did get the truth.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I feel that I know what happened in as close
- 5:11Speaker 1: as any journalist can. The best place to begin the
- 5:16Speaker 1: story is in nineteen sixty seven. Charles Manson is thirty
- 5:21Speaker 1: two years old and he's finishing a federal sentence for
- 5:24Speaker 1: check fraud at Terminal Island Prison in the Port of
- 5:26Speaker 1: Los Angeles. On March twenty first, he walks out of
- 5:30Speaker 1: the gates and this is the last time Manson will
- 5:33Speaker 1: ever be a freeman. In fact, he told me about this.
- 5:36Speaker 1: He said, when you walked out of prison, they call
- 5:39Speaker 1: it a run.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Get run, So I'm back.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Manson's view of the world was completely skewed. He saw
- 5:50Speaker 1: prison as his home. That's where things made sense. But
- 5:56Speaker 1: in nineteen sixty seven, he isn't the wild eyed, bearded
- 5:59Speaker 1: cult leader that you picture when you hear the name.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Not yet. There's no cult, there's no followers. It's just
- 6:05Speaker 1: a drifter named Charlie. He's wandering Los Angeles. He's got
- 6:08Speaker 1: no money, no prospects, clean shaven, he has that kind
- 6:13Speaker 1: of aw shucks grin that southern drawl. He grew up
- 6:17Speaker 1: in Kentucky and West Virginia, and at that time he's
- 6:20Speaker 1: been arrested more than thirty times, mostly for moving stolen
- 6:24Speaker 1: cars across state lines.
- 6:29Speaker 8: Quite alive in the other world.
- 6:32Speaker 1: A bit of forgery, some petty theft, two failed marriages,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and two children he's lost contact with. But when Manson
- 6:40Speaker 1: walks out of prison, he sees the world has changed.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And this is something people really don't understand about Manson
- 6:46Speaker 1: because in nineteen sixty seven, the Vietnam War is dominating
- 6:50Speaker 1: the headlines. Most men his age are fighting overseas or
- 6:53Speaker 1: they're hiding out in college. So the women, the women
- 6:56Speaker 1: that he's finding, are exploring freedom. They're exploring sex and
- 7:00Speaker 1: music and rebellion, and they're laying the seeds for what
- 7:04Speaker 1: will become the Summer of love. So for the first
- 7:09Speaker 1: time in his life, Manson fits in. You see, when
- 7:12Speaker 1: Manson goes to prison in the fifties, he's a long
- 7:15Speaker 1: hair drifter. He's mocked by the clean cut, square jawed
- 7:18Speaker 1: ideal of the time. But when he gets out in
- 7:21Speaker 1: the sixties, the world has completely changed. Suddenly, his long hair,
- 7:25Speaker 1: his defiance, those counterculture views, they just fit. So he
- 7:32Speaker 1: drifts between Hey at Ashbury and San Francisco into Panga
- 7:35Speaker 1: Canyon in Los Angeles, chasing the counterculture wave that's sweeping
- 7:38Speaker 1: the country. And this is where he meets the women
- 7:40Speaker 1: who will become the Manson family.
- 7:44Speaker 8: Right, they can't get away.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Every one in.
- 7:58Speaker 9: It might be.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So the Manson family, in the beginning at least, is
- 8:03Speaker 1: really Manson and three women. The first is Mary Brunner,
- 8:08Speaker 1: a librarian he meets in San Francisco who they call
- 8:11Speaker 1: Mother Mary or.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Mary a woman name.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Then he meets a runaway named Patricia Crenwinkle near Venice Beach.
- 8:21Speaker 1: She adopts the name Katie, and finally he stumbles upon
- 8:24Speaker 1: a red haired teenager named Lynette from while on Venice Beach.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Lynette is literally contemplating killing herself when Manson just randomly
- 8:32Speaker 1: walks up. They form this instant bond, and she becomes
- 8:36Speaker 1: one of his most ardent supporters, later taking the name Squeaky.
- 8:41Speaker 1: About those nicknames, everyone gets one, Squeaky, Sadie, Lulu, Gypsy, Darling.
- 8:47Speaker 1: On the surface, it's symbolic. It's like shaving a soldier's
- 8:50Speaker 1: head when he joins the army. It's a way to
- 8:53Speaker 1: shed your past and becomes something new. And for the
- 8:56Speaker 1: rest of nineteen sixty seven well into nineteen sixty eight,
- 9:00Speaker 1: this small group they just drift through California, hitchhiking, squatting,
- 9:05Speaker 1: singing for food. The women get pregnant, Squeaking Katie miscarry
- 9:10Speaker 1: Mary gives birth to Manson's child in the back of
- 9:13Speaker 1: a school bus. They've commdeered man the liter all baby,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and over time the commune just grows. Words spread, More
- 9:28Speaker 1: lost kids find their way to Charlie, and within a
- 9:31Speaker 1: year they're living at Dennis Wilson's house, one of the
- 9:34Speaker 1: founding members of the Beach Boys. This is always such
- 9:37Speaker 1: a bizarre aspect to the Manson family that they crash
- 9:41Speaker 1: with the Beach Boys for a significant period of time.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Wilson simply becomes enamored with Charlie after a chance encounter
- 9:48Speaker 1: with some of the women. The Beach Boys even go
- 9:50Speaker 1: so far as to record one of Manson's songs. But
- 9:53Speaker 1: after a few months, the family wears thin. They trash
- 9:57Speaker 1: part of Dennis Wilson's mansion. They wreck it car. He
- 10:00Speaker 1: ends up paying a small fortune for groceries and penicillin,
- 10:04Speaker 1: and he kicks them out. This is a year before
- 10:07Speaker 1: the murders, a year before the world will know their names,
- 10:11Speaker 1: and they all relocate to a place called Spawn Ranch,
- 10:15Speaker 1: a forgotten movie set on the edge of Los Angeles
- 10:20Speaker 1: Regional one, and it's here that the transformation begins. In
- 10:26Speaker 1: less than twelve months, this group will go from a
- 10:28Speaker 1: nameless commune to a cult that terrorizes the city and
- 10:32Speaker 1: shocks the world. But right now, no one's watching. I've
- 10:40Speaker 1: met many people who lived at Spawn Ranch that summer,
- 10:44Speaker 1: and they all tell the same story. It was peaceful loving.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They say this to a person, They say that they
- 10:52Speaker 1: bonded in the isolation of that ranch. They rejected society's rules.
- 10:56Speaker 1: There was no clocks, no books, no money, no structure.
- 11:01Speaker 1: They scavenged for food from dumpsters, They grew vegetables, they
- 11:05Speaker 1: smoked weed, they played music, they raised children. Even Manson
- 11:10Speaker 1: remembered those days with affection, and that.
- 11:13Speaker 2: At Roland we're all served, or there capable of.
- 11:20Speaker 9: A server, a sleeve on the man, much more than a.
- 11:35Speaker 6: Man.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Manson always talked in these riddles, but when the subject
- 11:42Speaker 1: of the ranch came up, he was nostalgic. He was
- 11:45Speaker 1: almost joyful, inasmuch as Manson, ever was joyful. But the
- 11:50Speaker 1: way he said it, you could hear the devotion in
- 11:52Speaker 1: his voice, like he believed that was kind of a paradise.
- 11:56Speaker 1: But this piece has a short half life. On the ranch,
- 12:01Speaker 1: isolation turns into something darker. When the world feels distant,
- 12:06Speaker 1: it's easy to start seeing it as the enemy. That's
- 12:09Speaker 1: how a commune turns into a cult. In fact, we
- 12:12Speaker 1: know the night it begins. It all starts on July first,
- 12:17Speaker 1: nineteen sixty nine. Fifty years later. The details of that
- 12:25Speaker 1: night are foggy. But here's what we know. Manson had
- 12:29Speaker 1: a right hand man named Charles tex WATSONIX. So he
- 12:40Speaker 1: was a small town boy from Copeville, Texas, six' to,
- 12:43Speaker 1: two good, looking. Athletic he's the kind of guy that
- 12:46Speaker 1: could walk into any room and. BELONG i wrote Tex
- 12:49Speaker 1: watson a number of letters and tried to engage with.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Him he wouldn't speak with. Me but this is a
- 12:55Speaker 1: nineteen eighty four parole hearing in which you can hear tech,
- 12:58Speaker 1: speak AND i think it actually it gives you a
- 13:00Speaker 1: lot of insight into who he.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Is the lead role that was the mail at the.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Cron but at that TIME i did not consider myself a.
- 13:11Speaker 3: LEADER i consider myself more of a follower Of Charles
- 13:16Speaker 3: manson in carrying at his orders WHEN i was twenty
- 13:20Speaker 3: three years, OLD i don't FEEL i had the leadership
- 13:23Speaker 3: qualities to carry that.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Out but by nineteen sixty, Nine text is strung out ON, lsd,
- 13:29Speaker 1: methadrin speed and, cocaine and On july, first he rips
- 13:34Speaker 1: off a drug dealer Named Bernard crow for twenty five
- 13:37Speaker 1: hundred dollars worth of. DRUGS i Asked manson about, this
- 13:41Speaker 1: and he says tex promised to deal some, dope took
- 13:44Speaker 1: the money and ran pretty. Simple that same, Night Bernard
- 13:48Speaker 1: crow calls spawn. Ranch he Gets manson on the, phone
- 13:52Speaker 1: and he demands his money. Back the moment the call,
- 13:56Speaker 1: ins fear spreads through the. Ranch they're convinced that what
- 14:00Speaker 1: Whatever texas done is about to come crashing back on. Them,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Now i've tracked down many of the people who were
- 14:07Speaker 1: there that, night and they all remember the same, thing
- 14:10Speaker 1: just absolute. Panic one of the women who was there
- 14:13Speaker 1: was Named. Cappy she was a teenager at the. Time
- 14:16Speaker 1: she's since passed, away BUT i spent hours talking to
- 14:19Speaker 1: her on the, phone and this is how she described
- 14:22Speaker 1: that exact.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Nights he was worried about us getting.
- 14:25Speaker 9: Killed we had.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Babies there and all kinds of.
- 14:29Speaker 8: Stuff and all these young, people, okay and they were
- 14:34Speaker 8: trying to kill.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Us one of the women told, me, quote we were
- 14:37Speaker 1: up all. Night people thought the ranch was going to,
- 14:39Speaker 1: burn that they were going to kill all the. Girls end.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Quote now they means one thing to The manson family
- 14:48Speaker 1: on this, Night it means The Black. Panthers manson believed
- 14:52Speaker 1: that the drug Dealer Bernard crowe was a member of
- 14:55Speaker 1: The Black Panther party In Los angeles in nineteen sixty.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Eight The panthers were one of the most militant organized
- 15:02Speaker 1: forces of The Black power, movement confronting police brutality and
- 15:06Speaker 1: racism in a city ready to. Explode, now Was Bernard
- 15:10Speaker 1: crow really a Black. Panther there's no Evidence i've ever
- 15:13Speaker 1: seen to confirm that he actually. Was but the key
- 15:16Speaker 1: to remember here is that everyone at the ranch believed
- 15:19Speaker 1: that he. Was this is what they told, me and
- 15:21Speaker 1: they began seeing The Black panthers as the. Enemy now
- 15:26Speaker 1: a quick aside. Here the prosecution will later paint this
- 15:30Speaker 1: night and these events as driven By manson's core ideological.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Racism and if the question is whether or Not manson
- 15:38Speaker 1: was a, racist well he absolutely. WAS i, mean he
- 15:41Speaker 1: talked about race. Frequently he'd grown up in The Ohio
- 15:44Speaker 1: river basin decades before civil, Rights he'd spent most of
- 15:48Speaker 1: his adult life segregated in. PRISON i, mean there's no
- 15:51Speaker 1: question he was a. Racist but it wasn't because he
- 15:55Speaker 1: was a white supremacist or had some sort of underlying
- 15:59Speaker 1: beliefs system that motivated. This this is just how he
- 16:02Speaker 1: saw the. World so back To july, First manson takes
- 16:07Speaker 1: the phone. Call the ranch is in a, panic And
- 16:10Speaker 1: manson makes the faithful decision to Confront Bernard crow for.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Himself manson and another man drive To crow's apartment In,
- 16:16Speaker 1: hollywood and when they, Arrived texas long.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Gone what happened was text me to deal with, them,
- 16:22Speaker 4: evidently and then sucking bumed out on the.
- 16:24Speaker 8: Deal we didn't get anything out of. It it had nothing
- 16:26Speaker 8: to do with.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Us it was all about tex trust.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Me the argument escalates And manson has brought this old
- 16:32Speaker 1: twenty two caliber revolver with. Him it looks like a Gun.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yosemite sam would carry around a long barreled revolver from
- 16:39Speaker 1: an Old western or.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Something Bernard crow didn't give him a. Chance he had
- 16:42Speaker 4: to shoot him or he was going to get. Shot
- 16:44Speaker 4: And Bernard crog just said you better shoot, me now do,
- 16:48Speaker 4: it you, know And joy shot.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Him but you, know the bullet rips Through crow's stomach
- 16:53Speaker 1: and lodges in his, spine And crow collapses and then
- 16:57Speaker 1: he plays dead And manson pass and he. Runs he
- 17:02Speaker 1: goes all the way back to the. Ranch he's, terrified he's.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Paranoid he's convinced he's just murdered one of The Black. Panthers,
- 17:11Speaker 1: now the irony of this whole situation is That crow actually,
- 17:13Speaker 1: survives But manson won't know that for. Years he actually
- 17:16Speaker 1: won't know Until crow walks into trial to. Testify the
- 17:23Speaker 1: paranoia in the group blooms and they're all looking To
- 17:26Speaker 1: manson to save, them and in, Desperation manson brings in
- 17:30Speaker 1: protection in the form of a biker gang From Venice
- 17:33Speaker 1: beach called The Straight. SATANS i uncovered AN lapd interview
- 17:38Speaker 1: from nineteen sixty nine with the gang's former, President Al,
- 17:41Speaker 1: springer and he actually remembers the deal That manson offered.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Him it was very simple protection for, favors.
- 17:49Speaker 4: All the.
- 17:49Speaker 6: Girls you want all the, girls, Says they're all.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Yours so The satans take the deal and they move
- 17:54Speaker 1: Into Spawn, ranch and the situation goes from bad to.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Worse within a few, weeks another Of manson's people gets
- 18:02Speaker 1: tangled up into a second drug. Deal this time it's
- 18:06Speaker 1: twenty one year Old Bobby.
- 18:07Speaker 9: Bouselet you had a prepaid call From.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Bobby an inmate aunt The California Medical.
- 18:15Speaker 1: FACILITY i spoke To bobby for. Years in, Fact manson
- 18:19Speaker 1: himself told me That bobby was a key to understanding the.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Story to this, Day bobby is still incarcerated In, california
- 18:28Speaker 1: despite being paroled twice in nineteen sixty. Nine he's a
- 18:32Speaker 1: wanna be, actor want to be a, musician but everyone
- 18:36Speaker 1: describes him the same, charismatic dark, hair dark, eyes. Ambitious,
- 18:42Speaker 1: so As bobby tells, it When Bernard crow, shot he's
- 18:46Speaker 1: not really paying attention to the ongoings of The manson.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Family he's not even living on the. Ranch but when
- 18:51Speaker 1: The Strait satans Accept charlie's, Offer bobby's drawn. In bobby
- 18:55Speaker 1: aspires to be a. Biker he's fixing up a motorcycle
- 18:57Speaker 1: in his, garage so he takes the opportunity to hang
- 19:01Speaker 1: around The. Satans As bobby tells, it the Straight satans
- 19:05Speaker 1: ask him to get them one thousand dollars worth of.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Mescaline bobby wants to impress, them so he turns to
- 19:12Speaker 1: an old, friend his ex, roommate a guy Named Gary.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Henman gary's a, musician a college, student and a part
- 19:20Speaker 1: time drug. Dealer bobby gets the drugs From, gary he
- 19:23Speaker 1: hands them off and the next day The satans corner.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Him they're furious and they claim the batch of mescaline was.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Bad and they demand their money.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Back and you, know they don't blame me for a,
- 19:35Speaker 4: Sucker and it Wasn't there wasn't any you, know bad
- 19:39Speaker 4: drugs or didn't like. That it was, just you, KNOW
- 19:42Speaker 4: i think they were trying to get the drugs for.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Free but in nineteen sixty, nine he doesn't know. That
- 19:48Speaker 1: he just wants to make things.
- 19:49Speaker 4: RIGHT i figure was going to be no. Problem get
- 19:52Speaker 4: the money back and you, know come back and give
- 19:55Speaker 4: it to, them and it's going to be.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Done so On, Friday july twenty, Fifth bob in two
- 20:00Speaker 1: women head over To Gary hinman's. House with him Is,
- 20:03Speaker 1: mary the first member of the group and the mother
- 20:05Speaker 1: Of manson's, child and another woman Named Susan, atkins who
- 20:09Speaker 1: they Call. Sadie at, first it's, calm small, talk, music
- 20:14Speaker 1: a few, beers and Eventually bobby brings up the. MONEY
- 20:19Speaker 1: i tracked down an early statement That mary gave to

- 20:43Speaker 1: it's a, sudden clumsy fight in the. Kitchen bobby And
- 20:47Speaker 1: gary are slamming into. Cabinets they're each trying to get

- 21:04Speaker 1: Inside and while this is going, on at some point
- 21:08Speaker 1: one of the women call spawn ranch and they plead

- 21:38Speaker 1: Ranch gary opens the, door he, says Hi, charlie and
- 21:42Speaker 1: without a, Word manson swings the. Sword the blade slices
- 21:46Speaker 1: Across gary's. Face there's a five inch gash through his left.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Cheek it nearly severs his, Ear it nearly takes his
- 21:52Speaker 1: ear right. Off manson stares at him for a, moment
- 21:55Speaker 1: and then he just turns and, leaves and just like,
- 21:56Speaker 1: that whatever humanity is left in this room is.
- 22:00Speaker 4: On that was WHY i had killed, him Because charlie
- 22:05Speaker 4: is flashed to, say and he left me with a,

- 23:49Speaker 1: does tell me that that is his. Intent he's trying
- 23:52Speaker 1: to frame the black panthers for the, murder the same

- 25:10Speaker 1: brutal enough to grab the cops attention and make it
- 25:13Speaker 1: look like the murderous panthers are still out. There the
- 25:18Speaker 1: logic is, crude but In manson's mind it's. Clear if
