- 1:40Speaker 2: would have been over. And I'm like, Bro, they could
- 1:42Speaker 2: be some nigga's name Lebron like Nia just being some
- 1:47Speaker 2: nigga name. Lebron is over for us, y'all because I'm
- 1:53Speaker 2: being dead. Seriously, let's start off with the.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Order of my dog.
- 2:01Speaker 1: This story goes way back for me because I remember
- 2:04Speaker 1: meeting Et when I was like sophomore in high school.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Freshman in high school. He played for the Illinois Wolves.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Bro.
- 2:11Speaker 1: They had nice jersey uniform, team was all put together
- 2:15Speaker 1: and here I come with these nappy braids, reversible jerseys,
- 2:19Speaker 1: our own shorts, and were playing against Evan and Dimitri
- 2:22Speaker 1: and they used to beat our assy.
- 2:29Speaker 2: We used to practice, they had plays.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We should just come to the tournament now, But I
- 2:34Speaker 1: knew et since back then. Man, it's dope to see
- 2:37Speaker 1: where you came from there to now. It's crazy as hell.
- 2:40Speaker 3: See.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny because you know, even back in that tournament, uh,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know, back in the day, like if you like
- 2:47Speaker 2: an unsigned senior, you could play AAU. So we were
- 2:50Speaker 2: playing seventeen or under, but we were sixteen, and I
- 2:52Speaker 2: remember like just seeing the jerseys, not really knowing like
- 2:56Speaker 2: who he was. But I'm like, oh, he he picking
- 2:58Speaker 2: our pockets like Buddy Dunk and Ship Buddy, you know
- 3:01Speaker 2: what I mean, like just giving us pure hells on
- 3:03Speaker 2: my head. I'm like, he got to be an unsigned senior.
- 3:06Speaker 2: So while we're playing Ship, I'm kind of like, hey, bro,
- 3:09Speaker 2: like we can play over here, Ship, Like we got
- 3:12Speaker 2: jersey like everything like Bush.
- 3:14Speaker 1: He said that the middle of the game, Bro, like
- 3:17Speaker 1: you can play with us, Bro, we got jerseys.
- 3:19Speaker 3: I said, that's wrong with this.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You want to go to rebound to rebod cam like everything.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I don't.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I don't know. So once that game's over, we're like, Bro,
- 3:28Speaker 2: Buddy's so cold. So we talked to our AU coach.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I'm like, well, where is he supposed to go? This' like, bro,
- 3:32Speaker 2: that kid is your age? Like that kid is my age.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So like when we're sitting I'm like, bro, that's no
- 3:38Speaker 2: cat Gee. We all said you was better than d
- 3:40Speaker 2: Rose at the time.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Niggas was true, don't That's how good she was playing
- 3:44Speaker 4: it right, So we might in some moments, but.
- 3:47Speaker 2: No that hey, we must have been living to you
- 3:49Speaker 2: because he was killing us. And I just remember sitting
- 3:52Speaker 2: there and always just remembering, uh, find out you are
- 3:55Speaker 2: my age and just being like, man, it's gonna be
- 3:57Speaker 2: a tough climb up if I got the battlever time.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And we go to AU. We go to a b
- 4:02Speaker 2: C D camp and like our whole team was just
- 4:05Speaker 2: like every tournament you were in. We were just paying
- 4:08Speaker 2: attention to you and be like what the tea kid do?
- 4:10Speaker 2: What the t kid do? I remember my a you
- 4:12Speaker 2: turn coach telling Skip Prosser like you might want the Meitri.
- 4:17Speaker 2: This is the one Noyea. I remember, like literally like
- 4:20Speaker 2: the Metri is the coldest dude ever seen. And we're
- 4:22Speaker 2: like like chost Cap, like that dude over there that
- 4:27Speaker 2: only like to play every other game. It's the truth.
- 4:32Speaker 2: He was just showing up like like a B C
- 4:35Speaker 2: D camp and not look interesting, like you know, we
- 4:38Speaker 2: try and change our lives, right.
- 4:41Speaker 1: But you know it's just my look, bro, how I
- 4:44Speaker 1: really feel? I just looked like that home was killing.
- 4:50Speaker 4: That's saying with an your age, ask you over there, SI.
- 4:56Speaker 2: You know I went to the tournament. We're still unsigned,
- 4:59Speaker 2: so I'm expecting every tournament to look like some ship
- 5:01Speaker 2: on TV. Like, so I want to go change my life.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So when I'm showing up, they got reversible jerseys. This
- 5:07Speaker 2: ain't this ain't it?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Bro?
- 5:13Speaker 3: I can't get jiggy.
- 5:14Speaker 2: With him, like Mike. I'm like, man, and I might
- 5:25Speaker 2: do with the four X.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:30Speaker 2: J Williams never gonna crazy and yeh and that was
- 5:35Speaker 2: nearly Jeff T and no funny ship. I had been
- 5:37Speaker 2: a fan ever since then. You're like sixteen years old.
- 5:40Speaker 2: That was in Louisville, Kentucky. Was you already that guy
- 5:43Speaker 2: around that time too? Though?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Uh?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah he was Yeah, he was were talking, bro, he was.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I was mean, he can handle the ball, so we like,
- 5:53Speaker 1: damn this nigga six seven would handle like he always
- 5:56Speaker 1: had that right to left that left to right.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That mug was mean.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we like, I'm like, damn he tall ship dripping
- 6:04Speaker 1: the ball the point because when he was coming in
- 6:06Speaker 1: the game, we thought he was gonna be like the
- 6:07Speaker 1: power forward and he handling the rock and the little
- 6:10Speaker 1: white dudes was just run around shooting threes, and him
- 6:13Speaker 1: and Dimitri got the ball. We like, we ain't got
- 6:14Speaker 1: nobody to guard, so he used to kill us. And
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'll nerve forget like the Metri cold and you know,
- 6:20Speaker 1: feel like, nah heat the cold when lookout tall he is.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And that's how we became fans. And we was like, damn,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I just kept up with him. And when I see
- 6:28Speaker 1: him go to Old State, I'm like them we going
- 6:30Speaker 1: there with because we thought Michael was staying. So I'm like,
- 6:33Speaker 1: damn me going there with Mike and them. That's crazy,
- 6:35Speaker 1: But I'll let you keep going DJ.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And that was That's pretty much it. Bro. I just
- 6:41Speaker 2: remember going back to those days and like how loaded
- 6:44Speaker 2: paul As that class was even then. What I'm saying, like,
- 6:48Speaker 2: we thought she was better than Dee Rose, but they
- 6:49Speaker 2: had like Chris Wright, they had you know what I mean,
- 6:52Speaker 2: Jay Lucas's so they had damn and everybody. It was
- 6:55Speaker 2: tough to make All American games and oh yeah, yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 2: j was trapped. But growing up in Indianapolis around that time,
- 7:06Speaker 2: it was probably pire hell.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Ship probably signed for you in Chicago, like, oh yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 1: the Rose is prown. Yeah what's that like? Though, Like
- 7:14Speaker 1: in high school, competing against d Rose.
- 7:17Speaker 2: It was you gotta think he was he was d
- 7:22Speaker 2: Rose back then. So I remember the first time I
- 7:25Speaker 2: ever really seen him. Uh, we had like an eighth
- 7:27Speaker 2: grade All star game and it's like West Suburbs vers
- 7:32Speaker 2: West Side, South Suburbs for South Side and I think
- 7:35Speaker 2: like Northwest down State. So I was playing on the
- 7:38Speaker 2: West Side team, so I was playing in a different games.
- 7:40Speaker 2: But I remember being in the back and I see
- 7:43Speaker 2: like a trophy and it's like player of the Year
- 7:45Speaker 2: Derek Rose. I'm like, well, who the player of the
- 7:47Speaker 2: year Derek Rose? Who the hell is Dereck Rose? Type stuff?
- 7:50Speaker 2: Like why would he get a whole trophy? And I'm
- 7:52Speaker 2: here type ship, That's what I like.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Then like before you know it, Buddy just pulled up
- 7:59Speaker 2: and dunking everything. He goes to Semeon. He wasn't allowed
- 8:02Speaker 2: to play his freshman year, but then once a sophomore
- 8:05Speaker 2: year hit. He was he was God and everybody else
- 8:09Speaker 2: is just them, like you know what I mean. So
- 8:11Speaker 2: I was a distant second when we grew up playing.
- 8:14Speaker 2: But to grow up and play in the city of Chicago,
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's just crazy across Pat bed too. Yeah, Pat Bad.
- 8:20Speaker 2: People don't man Pat Bad to me. You can say
- 8:23Speaker 2: d Rose is out there g but Pat Bad was
- 8:26Speaker 2: throwing up forty yeah, publicly taking out everybody. So I
- 8:30Speaker 2: thought it was pretty dope. We had like a lot
- 8:32Speaker 2: of dope talent during that time. And when you see
- 8:34Speaker 2: what they're doing now. You look at John Shire during
- 8:36Speaker 2: that time, he was by far head over heels better
- 8:40Speaker 2: than everybody until d Rose took him out. He's shipped
- 8:43Speaker 2: the coach a duke. Yeah. Collins left period Kan and
- 8:48Speaker 2: then this player at Kansas. You look at Jake Pulling.
- 8:52Speaker 2: People forget Jake pulling all the time and scored from there.
- 8:56Speaker 4: It was that high school my fault that he went to.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Jake Pulling went to provide who was that big man
- 9:01Speaker 4: from there, Brian Carwell, We went to Saint Joe. Yes,
- 9:05Speaker 4: that was my bad. I just had a moment, Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Because he came to Indiana and yeah, bro, and then
- 9:12Speaker 2: that turned to Greg Golden and Mike Conley and that
- 9:15Speaker 2: was like a big deal. So, you know, around that time,
- 9:18Speaker 2: growing up in Chicago, I think like there's like twenty
- 9:20Speaker 2: players in the top twenty from the state that went
- 9:23Speaker 2: D one, so you know what I mean. So I
- 9:25Speaker 2: was playing versus a bunch of kids in the Big
- 9:27Speaker 2: ten and I grew up playing Verse since I was
- 9:28Speaker 2: ten years old.
- 9:30Speaker 3: That's a show.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And it was so crazy in the city, especially in
- 9:32Speaker 1: that time period at oh five or six oh seven. Yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 1: because you go from Josh McRoberts to Mike and Greg
- 9:37Speaker 1: and then yeah, we had a.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Brough And I remember talking to Brad Stevens. He was
- 9:41Speaker 2: just saying, like I would go recruit like from Butler,
- 9:45Speaker 2: not trying to go get them, but I would wait
- 9:46Speaker 2: to go see a guy play Verse something and be like,
- 9:49Speaker 2: if they do decent, I know they're pretty good, because
- 9:52Speaker 2: these dudes are going to be NBA Hall of Famers,
- 9:54Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 9:54Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 9:55Speaker 2: What was it like you had the battle? What was
- 9:57Speaker 2: it like coming up in that time? Did that kind
- 9:59Speaker 2: of kill your confiden and that you weren't Mike Nah?
- 10:01Speaker 2: You know, because like you was cold.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Bro, Noah, because like Mike Mike, Dad's the reason our
- 10:07Speaker 1: game confidence because I used to have good games against Mike,
- 10:10Speaker 1: but I was like a hood hooper like.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And shit like that.
- 10:14Speaker 1: So like when I played again, so I just wanted
- 10:17Speaker 1: to crossing because I knew everybody's gonna talk about it
- 10:19Speaker 1: like I'm just gonna crossing. But then I started getting
- 10:21Speaker 1: competitive and I was scoring stuff. But I ain't never
- 10:25Speaker 1: look at it like that. They were just Gregg and
- 10:26Speaker 1: Mike to me, Like I didn't really know they was
- 10:29Speaker 1: like a big, big deal until I went to Vegas
- 10:32Speaker 1: and I've seen how people was treating them.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, dya shit, like you know be here, were.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Like oh that's great. Oh they can't go outside. Though
- 10:41Speaker 1: I can go outside like I'm in with my friendly
- 10:45Speaker 1: at the parties in the streets. They can't do that.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So it didn't look fun to me to beat them.
- 10:50Speaker 1: But then when I seen kind of love they was
- 10:52Speaker 1: getting everywhere else, like they got rebock deals, and I'm like,
- 10:56Speaker 1: oh yeah, they getting the real love. I'm getting the
- 11:00Speaker 1: booties is getting tirked on at the club. They get
- 11:04Speaker 1: the real stuff, So it wouldn't ain't mean nothing until
- 11:07Speaker 1: I got to there and I'm like, I gotta figure
- 11:09Speaker 1: it out. Then Coach Conley kind of put a battery
- 11:10Speaker 1: in my back, like you just as good as them, man,
- 11:13Speaker 1: it's his son, you Like, damn you think I'm good
- 11:15Speaker 1: as hell?
- 11:16Speaker 2: Mere?
- 11:16Speaker 3: Like yeah, you should have all these offers too.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And I'm like, shit, he gassed me, and he gassed
- 11:21Speaker 1: me to a whole nother level to be honest.
- 11:24Speaker 2: No, that's hard, bro, Yeah, that's definitely hard.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Shout to coach Connley.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Man for sure, Like you said, man going crazy in Chicago.
- 11:31Speaker 1: How'd you end up at Ohio State?
- 11:34Speaker 2: Sid? Uh? My dad's from Ohio. So every summer else
- 11:39Speaker 2: like nine to ten, I would go visit him in Columbus.
- 11:41Speaker 2: So I would go to like Ohio State sports camps
- 11:44Speaker 2: and I go to like Clark Kellar camp and he
- 11:47Speaker 2: was like a big deal at the time. Yeah, so
- 11:49Speaker 2: in the summertime, I kind of when I first went there,
- 11:52Speaker 2: like I kind of knew, like how big of a deal,
- 11:56Speaker 2: Like people like mess with the buck eye. So you
- 11:58Speaker 2: fast forward like senior, like six years later, We're playing
- 12:02Speaker 2: at the King James Tournament and I'm playing versus some
- 12:05Speaker 2: white pigeon toe dude, and he's like the state. He
- 12:09Speaker 2: just scored seventy seven points. His name is John Diebler.
- 12:12Speaker 2: So we're playing versus each other and I'm looking at stands.
- 12:15Speaker 2: There's a bunch of like scouts and coaches there, so
- 12:18Speaker 2: apparently thad models there. So you know when you're young
- 12:21Speaker 2: and they telling you like, hey, you're about to play
- 12:24Speaker 2: for the best. Dude whatever he did, so you know,
- 12:26Speaker 2: you go out. You're like this white dude like, man,
- 12:28Speaker 2: I'm finna put on for the hood. So buddy, come out.
- 12:31Speaker 2: He get me like five straight threes and then like
- 12:35Speaker 2: you know, like they had a burner. Yeah, burner like volleyball.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I had never seen somebody just like dribbling down the
- 12:42Speaker 2: court and like pull out. He wasn't looking at the line,
- 12:44Speaker 2: he was just pulling out of nowhere. Now. I was like, bro,
- 12:46Speaker 2: this dude is different, and luckily I played well. That
- 12:49Speaker 2: was like a Saturday. By that Thursday, I was on
- 12:51Speaker 2: Ohio State campus and should I got offered. I went
- 12:56Speaker 2: to NBA camp in June. I was like, bro, I
- 12:58Speaker 2: gotta go somewhere. That's it was a dumb ass decision
- 13:01Speaker 2: that should have just went to Wisconsin or Illinois. But
- 13:03Speaker 2: I'm like, Okay, day Kwon Cook, Mike Conley, all of
- 13:06Speaker 2: them at All State. I got to get ready and
- 13:08Speaker 2: go there. But it was just like the boys pauses loaded.
- 13:13Speaker 2: But at the same time, like you think about my trajectory,
- 13:16Speaker 2: If like day Kwan Cook would have never left that
- 13:18Speaker 2: first year, I might have been sitting for a year
- 13:20Speaker 2: and a half two years. But I just thought when
- 13:23Speaker 2: I was a kid that the thought of competition and
- 13:25Speaker 2: being from Chicago, I thought like a top recruiting class
- 13:28Speaker 2: or somewhere big I would be able to perform at
- 13:31Speaker 2: and that should just worked out for sure. Incoming class though,
- 13:35Speaker 2: yeah worked out.
- 13:37Speaker 3: They definitely worked out.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I was nice. What was the thirty three's name I had?
- 13:40Speaker 2: I forgot his name, It was John Die twenty three
- 13:43Speaker 2: is David, Yeah had Will Beuford. Yeah. Will ended up
- 13:50Speaker 2: like the second time all leading scored dealer ing up
- 13:53Speaker 2: breaking the conference three point record, and Dave was like
- 13:55Speaker 2: the all time winner or whatever. I was cold and
- 13:59Speaker 2: was played year. Yeah, and uh you know we finished
- 14:06Speaker 2: eg sellinger is the best ever do it man. He
- 14:08Speaker 2: was so coold. I didn't play with him, but the
- 14:09Speaker 2: next year he really killed it. But you know, during
- 14:12Speaker 2: that time, I just felt like the Big ten was
- 14:15Speaker 2: something I was really familiar with, and you know, just
- 14:18Speaker 2: going close to home was a big deal and that
- 14:20Speaker 2: was really it. But when I look back on that,
- 14:22Speaker 2: acc Ball might have been more fun, bro, what was
- 14:25Speaker 2: definitely fun. I was trying to go to n C State,
- 14:27Speaker 2: to be honest with you, and then, uh, you actually
- 14:29Speaker 2: fit them, That's what I'm saying. I saw Julius Hodge. Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 2: they had to do Brandon Kysler, Yeah, straight, but right
- 14:36Speaker 2: had committed and Syndackett eventually ended up dipping. But uh yeah,
- 14:41Speaker 2: and then I was either that or Waite Force, which
- 14:45Speaker 2: was you know coach Prosser and uh, what's the Italian coach? Yeah, Gottiyo.
- 14:50Speaker 2: We were on there, but we pulled up the wait
- 14:52Speaker 2: Forest and you know, our coach asked about like the
- 14:54Speaker 2: black population, and there's like I think the guys go
- 14:58Speaker 2: across the street to with some sale. We did, and
- 15:02Speaker 2: my coach was like, nah, bro, you ain't supposed to
- 15:04Speaker 2: leave campus. Okay. It's like as a white man, I'm offended.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I remember what. I remember what I said to wake Force.
- 15:19Speaker 1: He said that he was like, there ain't no black
- 15:21Speaker 1: people on there, and he was like, y'all got said
- 15:22Speaker 1: at the front of the classroom. I was like, damn,
- 15:26Speaker 1: I went to the wake Forest. We had legitimate at
- 15:28Speaker 1: the front of the classroom.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Damn, bro he set it tightened up.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I used to go to one same on State here
- 15:33Speaker 3: the other day.
- 15:35Speaker 2: So there's a lot of black people.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Stay with you.
- 15:37Speaker 2: It's decent, MOMMI. You could count on everybody being from Cleveland,
- 15:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean. The state is from Cleveland,
- 15:44Speaker 2: but there's some niggas in Cleveland. Yeah, but it's a
- 15:46Speaker 2: decent vibe. I think college is cool for what it was.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I learned a lot and you know, but the real
- 15:51Speaker 2: gig was just trying to get to the league.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Yeah for sure. I mean you get off the subject.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But you know, I'm saying I l money shit going on,
- 15:58Speaker 1: especially how you played in college, what you did.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you you might have said that year for the
- 16:01Speaker 3: little check you check.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I probably would have flamed out way quicker because I
- 16:05Speaker 2: be able to handle, you know, everything that came at me,
- 16:08Speaker 2: the craft, the crack, Johnny Manzil, all right, Marcus George,
- 16:22Speaker 2: I would have died like girl saying he got a game.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I can already read and write schools.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Not right, Oh, Ship, obviously you know what I'm saying.
- 16:41Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. You go on drift night.
- 16:44Speaker 3: How was that process for you?
- 16:45Speaker 1: Because you know what I'm saying, you number two pick,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and that was it was a cool, you know process
- 16:50Speaker 1: when I hear everybody else's horror stories, you know, but
- 16:54Speaker 1: I was blessed.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It was cool. I did one workout and when the
- 16:58Speaker 2: balls dropped, Paul, we were we knew that I would
- 17:04Speaker 2: go to Philly because John Wall was legit. So John
- 17:07Speaker 2: Wall was a consensus and I just knew, like when
- 17:10Speaker 2: number two dropted, oh I guess I'll be a Philadelphia
- 17:13Speaker 2: or whatever. So luckily that was the case, and we
- 17:16Speaker 2: went and did a workout, and you know, everything worked
- 17:19Speaker 2: well until the first game and then you know, life change.
- 17:25Speaker 3: What happened.
- 17:27Speaker 2: No, just like Ship was real, Like I was supposed
- 17:32Speaker 2: to come in and be brun right, perfect live. I
- 17:39Speaker 2: had to go talk to my sponsors. So when people
- 17:43Speaker 2: are like y'all got partners like I don't have, Like
- 17:45Speaker 2: I didn't have them by the second year. So what
- 17:48Speaker 2: did you think he was coming to? You was gonna
- 17:50Speaker 2: be the man on Philly because you know it's cold,
- 17:53Speaker 2: you know what's wrong. You weren't saying clearly, but that
- 17:55Speaker 2: was iggy Enham team.
- 17:57Speaker 3: You got drafted to a tough team.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Got honest with you. I'm just joking. I got drafted
- 18:01Speaker 2: to a really good team in a really good situation.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And when I thought at Philly, I was like, no,
- 18:05Speaker 2: I want to go to Golden State at number seven
- 18:07Speaker 2: because I wanted to play with Steph like Paul is
- 18:09Speaker 2: really really bad, and uh, I just knew the fit
- 18:13Speaker 2: and I knew Dre wasn't no slouch. But back in
- 18:15Speaker 2: the day, people forget we just started going into this
- 18:18Speaker 2: team ball like before it was like a couple of
- 18:21Speaker 2: years before that, like the Trailblazers didn't draft KD because
- 18:25Speaker 2: I adn't think b Roy and KD like it had
- 18:27Speaker 2: to be one alpha guard, one alpha big type situation.
- 18:30Speaker 2: So when it came down to it, like I really
- 18:32Speaker 2: just showed up and it was like there was ah,
- 18:35Speaker 2: you know, it's Dre's team, and you kind of got
- 18:37Speaker 2: like really fit in getting where you fit in. So
- 18:39Speaker 2: that development of what you saw John wall Get. I'm
- 18:42Speaker 2: not saying I've been John Waller, even Wes C. Johnson.
- 18:44Speaker 2: He was in Minnesota cracking and you know, getting getting
- 18:47Speaker 2: crazy opportunity. But it was it was a cool, you
- 18:50Speaker 2: know experience, and that was probably one of my favorite teams.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Who grabbed like not grabbed you. That's crazy, but right
- 18:58Speaker 4: what what if it really took you on? Today Winnings
- 19:00Speaker 4: gave the game.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Right away. Yeah, right away, right away, Lou will shout
- 19:07Speaker 2: out to Lou. Yeah the uh, I think he just
- 19:10Speaker 2: took a liking into me because I just thought he
- 19:11Speaker 2: was like, bro, what's to this man? You know? But
- 19:13Speaker 2: I remember like the first one of the first couple
- 19:15Speaker 2: of days, he picked me up and we went to
- 19:18Speaker 2: the gun range and then he just took me around
- 19:20Speaker 2: the city. And you know, that's the first real time
- 19:23Speaker 2: I ever got drunk was with Lou Williams and damn Lou. Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 2: but but it was some real stuff. So I was
- 19:31Speaker 2: chopping it up. I was going through like some rough
- 19:33Speaker 2: rookie stuff and I'm talking about like I'm in the dumps. So, uh,
- 19:36Speaker 2: we losing Philly, you know, Doug Collins is you know,
- 19:39Speaker 2: he's definitely ah, you know, being tough on me in
- 19:42Speaker 2: a sense. We losing Philly, Landy Detroit so it's like, uh,
- 19:45Speaker 2: meet me in a lobby in twenty minutes. It's not
- 19:48Speaker 2: an option. So I meet him in lobby. We go
- 19:50Speaker 2: next door at the bar and he's just like, you
- 19:52Speaker 2: got like eight shots lined up type of ship, and
- 19:56Speaker 2: he's like you should start and talk. He's like, look, bruh,
- 19:59Speaker 2: this game of bout aastball source to be fun. It
- 20:01Speaker 2: shouldn't be up and down. Like if you bring this
- 20:03Speaker 2: ship home with you, you're gonna be mad every single
- 20:06Speaker 2: goddamn day. He's like, you ain't have fun since you've
- 20:09Speaker 2: been here. It's like, just let that shit go be
- 20:12Speaker 2: who you're gonna be. But like, you can't bring this
- 20:14Speaker 2: shit home with you, like you don't literally let your
- 20:17Speaker 2: head explode. And he's like that's it. Just go out there,
- 20:20Speaker 2: try hoop if a nest from there, but like you
- 20:22Speaker 2: can really hoop. And I was like all right, bet,
- 20:25Speaker 2: and he's like, okay, now make sure you finished the shot.
- 20:28Speaker 2: So like so I had like so that, like I
- 20:30Speaker 2: took like two or three shots like off the bat.
- 20:32Speaker 2: But I remember like Lou was somebody I could always
- 20:35Speaker 2: rely on or relate to because he had went through
- 20:38Speaker 2: everything as a player, Like when I was tripping practice
- 20:40Speaker 2: and be like, man, you got me, you got me
- 20:42Speaker 2: running your plays. I ain't run them in the game.
- 20:44Speaker 2: He'd be like, motherfucker. Like when I was your age,
- 20:46Speaker 2: they would take me out of practice and a coach
- 20:48Speaker 2: for practice. You understand what I'm saying. So like, so
- 20:51Speaker 2: when it came down to it, it's like I got
- 20:53Speaker 2: real game from him. Eldon Brand was super cool and
- 20:56Speaker 2: then obviously Iguodala. We had a butt hit to start,
- 21:00Speaker 2: but eventually towards the end of my first year, we
- 21:04Speaker 2: became my brothers. Like by the fourth year, you know,
- 21:08Speaker 2: we didn't even play on the same team. I was
- 21:10Speaker 2: the best man in his widding. And then you know
- 21:12Speaker 2: when he had his daughter, you know, he named her Evan,
- 21:15Speaker 2: and it was like, I thought this so like when
- 21:18Speaker 2: we got to that level of like friendship and like connecting,
- 21:22Speaker 2: I just felt like we had like a relationship that's
- 21:24Speaker 2: just bigger than basketball. And that was what I really
- 21:27Speaker 2: took from those vets because even my ups and down times,
- 21:31Speaker 2: I could always count on them and depend on them,
- 21:33Speaker 2: even if I felt like I didn't have a friend
- 21:35Speaker 2: all right, So after them shots of and j Yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 2: ship shots though.
- 21:43Speaker 4: It was honey, I was saying, Petron is Petronney, That's
- 21:54Speaker 4: what I'm saying, and that I had a shot of
- 21:55Speaker 4: Cranberry and I was, so.
- 21:58Speaker 2: When did you start getting comfortable in the league? Though?
- 22:00Speaker 2: What I think there's different levels of comfort, not even
- 22:03Speaker 2: so much playing, but so much is just like saying,
- 22:05Speaker 2: forgetting accepting my role. You know. I think one thing
- 22:08Speaker 2: that occurred was I came in super early speak. When
- 22:12Speaker 2: you listen to your ages and stuff, you're trying to
- 22:14Speaker 2: carry a brand. So yeah, I could have been like
- 22:16Speaker 2: a prima digna type shit, and I was. But I
- 22:18Speaker 2: think one thing when I started getting comfortable is just
- 22:20Speaker 2: really buying into like the team atmosphere and really accepting
- 22:23Speaker 2: my role and not really worried about like what people think,
- 22:26Speaker 2: and just trying to go from worry about being great
- 22:28Speaker 2: to just getting good each day, but also just swimming.
- 22:31Speaker 2: You know, when you get selected high, like you look
- 22:35Speaker 2: at Anthony Bennett, they cut you know, Andy Bennet could
- 22:38Speaker 2: still be good, but like they undercome quick and like, bro,
- 22:41Speaker 2: you're sad, like you needed like two thorough years. He
- 22:44Speaker 2: was done within like twenty games and shit. So I
- 22:47Speaker 2: was just on some like sink or swim and like
- 22:49Speaker 2: try to figure out how to be the best player
- 22:51Speaker 2: I could.
- 22:51Speaker 1: And that's one thing that they don't speak about a lot,
- 22:53Speaker 1: is like when you come in the league, especially when
- 22:55Speaker 1: you have expectations, is there's no time for you to
- 22:58Speaker 1: fuck up, and you have to be less to be
- 23:00Speaker 1: in a good organization or to have good vets. If
- 23:02Speaker 1: you don't have either one of them, or if you
- 23:04Speaker 1: don't have both, hit can get real spooky. And then,
- 23:06Speaker 1: like you said, you bring work home with you, you all
- 23:08Speaker 1: in your head trying to play basketball.
- 23:09Speaker 3: You forget how good you off that shit.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I'm playing in Philly, bro that the worst fans ever. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 2: I'm playing in Philly. Is definitely different. So I felt
- 23:17Speaker 2: as though like being in Philly for that little bit
- 23:19Speaker 2: of time really kind of not saying like made us
- 23:22Speaker 2: sick on a sense of how I like viewed the
- 23:24Speaker 2: game of basketball. I was just like, you know, kind
- 23:26Speaker 2: of like fuck it, I'm gonna have fun with it.
- 23:28Speaker 2: But once I left fifth Philly, there was nothing ever
- 23:31Speaker 2: that serious that was like that bad or tough because
- 23:34Speaker 2: all that pressure there was od yea, I was supposed
- 23:36Speaker 2: to be the number two pick and do whatever I
- 23:38Speaker 2: went complete opposite and they had to like conteenue to swim,
- 23:42Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. After my fourth year in
- 23:45Speaker 2: the league, dudes were signing for thirty some million and
- 23:47Speaker 2: I'm all for two hundred and fifty thousand, you know
- 23:50Speaker 2: what I mean. Like when dudes were signing, like I'm
- 23:52Speaker 2: trying to it was damn there like September, I damn,
- 23:55Speaker 2: they didn't have a place to go. Dam I'm twenty
- 23:57Speaker 2: five years old. Like people are hitting the streets, asked
- 24:00Speaker 2: you staying in the league or going overseas? M hm.
- 24:03Speaker 2: So when you're sitting down, you're like, damn, just four
- 24:05Speaker 2: years ago, I had ship popping. But you know what
- 24:07Speaker 2: I mean. So like I just felt like I had
- 24:09Speaker 2: to really you know, lock in, buckle in, but like
- 24:12Speaker 2: almost on like some ship Entourage ship. When it came
- 24:16Speaker 2: to Anny Chase, like bro, I'm not getting I'm not
- 24:19Speaker 2: getting lead roles no more, you know what I'm saying.
- 24:22Speaker 2: And that was just like the real thing. Where was
- 24:25Speaker 2: you off to next?
- 24:26Speaker 3: Portland?
- 24:27Speaker 2: I ended up going to Boston.
- 24:29Speaker 4: And that's when when you h that's why, Yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That's when the band came.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Everybody can came together. Boy.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Uh, we had Uh, we definitely had two years in Boston.
- 24:46Speaker 2: It was definitely fun and you know it, it had uh
- 24:49Speaker 2: obviously reunited a feeling for me enjoy playing basketball and
- 24:53Speaker 2: also had uh had a great foundation for a landing point.
- 24:56Speaker 2: When I was done, I still go to Boston. You know,
- 25:00Speaker 2: you get get mad love and at the same time
- 25:02Speaker 2: have opportunities to still you know, it's been Uh, my
- 25:05Speaker 2: position and game of basketball just help for sure.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Man, we got we're gonn fast too far. We got
- 25:10Speaker 3: to talk about y'all linoking up in Boston.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Man, It's to be honest with you. Gee, Like I
- 25:17Speaker 2: thought it was cool. I knew Jeff was cool, but
- 25:19Speaker 2: I used to be like, bro, if you're this funny,
- 25:22Speaker 2: why do you not show that, like, like literally show
- 25:26Speaker 2: people that. Like I thought he's the funniest dude on earth.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Now I thought he was nice, and Uh, the funniest
- 25:31Speaker 2: thing about Boston I was waiting around to Uh. It
- 25:36Speaker 2: was either I was gonna retire or I was waiting
- 25:38Speaker 2: for Boston, like I ain't have no chances. And Brad
- 25:40Speaker 2: was kind of like, maybe I'll throw you a bone.
- 25:42Speaker 2: So like when it came down between me and Jeff,
- 25:45Speaker 2: I'm talking like poor Allen's like, man, it's between you
- 25:47Speaker 2: and Jeff. I'm like, well, y'all should just take Jeff
- 25:49Speaker 2: because I'm not better than Jeff. Like if y'all trying
- 25:51Speaker 2: to win a championship, I'm like, bro, that's just that's
- 25:54Speaker 2: O D. So then we show up and like they
- 25:57Speaker 2: take Jeff and like I'm just like, all right, I
- 25:59Speaker 2: guess I'll on the coaching pretty much. Jeff is just
- 26:02Speaker 2: like we end up being like.
- 26:05Speaker 3: One of the times.
- 26:09Speaker 2: The back of the bitch. I'll look over and Jeff
- 26:12Speaker 2: and like you have his shoelace. Sometime we just be
- 26:15Speaker 2: told was that nigga not brough there? At one point
- 26:23Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, I'm right, Bro, this is how you
- 26:25Speaker 2: know it's different. And it's like, bro, everywhere you go,
- 26:27Speaker 2: like you would be able to keep your initial don't
- 26:29Speaker 2: name is Jeff t you know. So when we're going
- 26:33Speaker 2: on the board, I'm looking at Brad and Brad like
- 26:36Speaker 2: JD k W and Jet j T Like what the
- 26:43Speaker 2: fuck is Jet? Like is Jet? Yeah? It is like
- 26:48Speaker 2: Jeff TIGG. I'm like, my nigga, you can't he's older
- 26:51Speaker 2: than Jason Table. He can't get his.
- 26:54Speaker 4: In you remember, and that's you know what's loked up
- 27:00Speaker 4: about it?
- 27:00Speaker 3: He wrote to play. He was like JT said somebody else,
- 27:04Speaker 3: So I'm thinking I got the ball. I'm like all right.
- 27:06Speaker 3: So I was like, hold on when I when he
- 27:08Speaker 3: go here, I go here. He's like no, no, no, no,
- 27:09Speaker 3: you're here, Jet.
- 27:12Speaker 2: What the Kim? Kim in tears and I'm in the back.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I'm like, Bro, No, they ain't just call you Jet.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Kim is crying.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Kim called me Jet the rest of the year. Bro,
- 27:30Speaker 3: Smiff is crazy. Bros is like kidding at ain't walking
- 27:37Speaker 3: like little please?
- 27:41Speaker 2: But that that time in Boston, I mean, I don't
- 27:43Speaker 2: know how Jet felt. Hell, like, what the hell are
- 27:48Speaker 2: we doing moment? Because it's COVID. Yeah, man, like I'm
- 27:51Speaker 2: trying to tell dudes that were better than me how
- 27:53Speaker 2: to play basketball. That's when I knew coaching was full
- 27:55Speaker 2: of ship because I was like, I'm like a dacity you, Bro,
- 28:05Speaker 2: this man is a problem in that, you know. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 2: they had me beat Jason Tatum position like, Bro, he's
- 28:14Speaker 2: not listen to shout out say like you know what
- 28:19Speaker 2: I mean. I'm like, Bro, I'm not gonna tell him
- 28:21Speaker 2: nothing like a work one on with this like, no,
- 28:23Speaker 2: it's perfectly fine. But we were able to. We got,
- 28:26Speaker 2: we made bonds, were playing one over. Yeah, for sure,
- 28:29Speaker 2: we got.
- 28:30Speaker 1: We got a classic group chat Man midwe called the
- 28:33Speaker 1: mid West Group chat Man. We all became really cool.
- 28:36Speaker 1: That experience in Boston. Bro, it's funny as hell, what
- 28:39Speaker 1: did you? I wanted to always ask us.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Even in that experience in Boston, I still thought you
- 28:44Speaker 2: had a two or three more years to play like
- 28:46Speaker 2: what you did. Boston kind of stopped. We saw each
- 28:49Speaker 2: other in Atlanta and I told you before, Bro, it's
- 28:52Speaker 2: almost over for me. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 28:54Speaker 1: You told me not that you shouldn't be here and
- 28:56Speaker 1: so you shouldn't be so you shouldn't be in London.
- 28:58Speaker 2: They're gonna get eleven point two minutes per game.
- 29:00Speaker 1: He told me that, and they I didn't sign. They
- 29:03Speaker 1: offered me a year another year after that, but I
- 29:06Speaker 1: didn't sign. I should have had signed it. I don't
- 29:08Speaker 1: know what I was thinking, but I hated it so
- 29:10Speaker 1: much because I was like, damn, I love Atlanta, but
- 29:13Speaker 1: they told me I had a cap like you can
- 29:15Speaker 1: only play.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Nineteen minutes, you know what I mean?
- 29:18Speaker 1: It was just like Damn, I was just averaging fourteen
- 29:20Speaker 1: off the bench of Minnesota.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Well, I come here. All I can get is nineteen minutes.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Bro, I was them there being a runner for six
- 29:26Speaker 1: man fourteen and twenty two minutes.
- 29:29Speaker 3: I was hoping.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Damn.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I was like, nah, and I thought COVID happened. I
- 29:33Speaker 1: should have went.
- 29:34Speaker 2: To the next.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Tim's like, come on to the next You're gonna probably start.
- 29:41Speaker 1: But then Brad caught me. It was like, Kimba's out,
- 29:44Speaker 1: You're gonna start. Kimball's going Kimba's out for you. Remember
- 29:46Speaker 1: Kimball was hurting and then you woke up. He was like,
- 29:51Speaker 1: you're gonna start. Kimball's out, and I'm like, damn. The
- 29:54Speaker 1: Celtics cold like. I was like the Knicks. I don't
- 29:57Speaker 1: know too much about the Knicks. Ain't got nobody, So
- 29:59Speaker 1: I'm go to Boston. I was like, that's gonna really
- 30:02Speaker 1: get me back.
- 30:02Speaker 2: And I got there.
- 30:03Speaker 1: He was like, we're gonna start markets at the point,
- 30:08Speaker 1: you're gonna be the sixth man.
- 30:09Speaker 2: The six man.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I'm like, in the first game, I hooked like three layers.
- 30:14Speaker 2: But I'm right, mane, I'm in a bench, like Bro,
- 30:19Speaker 2: they just can't get right but he don't.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Breakaway left to say, but it got to the point
- 30:29Speaker 1: I didn't miss a three the whole preseason.
- 30:31Speaker 2: No time out. You was missing so many layups. We
- 30:33Speaker 2: had played three on three and when you have made
- 30:36Speaker 2: a layup, run them short.
- 30:37Speaker 4: It's like he usually miss, so miss little jet with us.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I was so scared to shoot the left at that time,
- 30:47Speaker 1: I would really shoot a three. I was making so
- 30:49Speaker 1: many threes. I was like, fuck that. I ain't running
- 30:51Speaker 1: to fast breaks. I was running to the corner.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Damn.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I was scared to shoot a layup. Damn. I don't
- 30:56Speaker 3: know why.
- 30:57Speaker 1: But then I had a game at the end where
- 31:00Speaker 1: we started playing again. My labs came back, but I
- 31:02Speaker 1: couldn't shoot no more. My three was broke his hell.
- 31:05Speaker 2: But that was did you ever tell and you said
- 31:10Speaker 2: something that was this one of like Jeff a lot
- 31:11Speaker 2: of Pauls because he was his opin was super different
- 31:16Speaker 2: and might to somebody that like be saying some off
- 31:18Speaker 2: the wall stuff. My year, that's my man, And I
- 31:20Speaker 2: remember we're in a gym and you're like, bro, that's
- 31:24Speaker 2: my unpopular opinion. But I think James Harden is a
- 31:28Speaker 2: better shooting guard than Kobe.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Bryant, don't say that. I've been waiting to say this,
- 31:35Speaker 4: so we would have talked about this. This is gonna
- 31:38Speaker 4: go virus.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Getting killed for so long. Can seriously man, Kobe right,
- 31:55Speaker 3: he said the k was better than Kobe as episode.
- 31:59Speaker 2: You can call me. They're going after you.
- 32:02Speaker 3: That's that's at that time we were talking about We're
- 32:07Speaker 3: talking about that. Okay, I did not say that.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I'm ill be be lying too. He ain't say none
- 32:15Speaker 2: of that.
- 32:16Speaker 3: I ain't going down that, Kobe, bro.
- 32:18Speaker 4: But you had great the dude that said it had
- 32:21Speaker 4: great day, I said, And then I said that.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not going to say that. Never mind you,
- 32:32Speaker 2: it was good.
- 32:32Speaker 1: It was Jailer and was battling and him, were just
- 32:37Speaker 1: having a conversation and e T And Jason was there.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It was I think you said. And then Jason and
- 32:42Speaker 2: Jay they went crazy. They went nuts. They definitely went nuts.
- 32:46Speaker 2: But to be honest with.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You, you're con persuaded me a bit, don't I'm telling
- 32:52Speaker 1: so Ship, that's the first.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Time we fought. You was at me on that. And
- 33:02Speaker 2: then I just remember we would be in the back
- 33:05Speaker 2: of the bench. We always have these crazy debates. So
- 33:07Speaker 2: that's the first person that really told him how cold
- 33:09Speaker 2: Luca was. That's effect I give it. So like when
- 33:12Speaker 2: we sitting behind the bench, like Luca kind of going
- 33:14Speaker 2: through like his first half, like things like Bro, I
- 33:16Speaker 2: don't know jee, this man kind.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Of like it's a fire as story.
- 33:19Speaker 2: But you're like, man, this man kind of like lazy,
- 33:21Speaker 2: like he's just not doing nothing for me. He whined.
- 33:24Speaker 2: And I'm like, Bro, that's like you don't run up
- 33:26Speaker 2: the court. I'm like, bro, look at him. He the man.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I'm like Luca him, he's not worried about no regular
- 33:30Speaker 2: season game in fact, So then we keep going, said Bro,
- 33:33Speaker 2: you sure he good? I said, Bro, he gonna turn
- 33:35Speaker 2: it on. He's really him. So like where were we
- 33:38Speaker 2: We're up ten or twelve. He's in Dallas. So we
- 33:40Speaker 2: in Dallas and it's like Bro, JB and j T
- 33:43Speaker 2: getting rid of us. Man, I said, Bro, I'm telling you,
- 33:45Speaker 2: like it might not look good now, but in clutch,
- 33:47Speaker 2: if they get close, we're not gonna win, he said.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I said, Bro. I said, I'm just saying, the game
- 33:52Speaker 2: get close, we're not gonna win. So, like the game
- 33:54Speaker 2: start creeping down. So the more and more he at
- 33:59Speaker 2: me and I'm like.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Like you, he's a coach.
- 34:03Speaker 4: I'm a player and they weren't listening to.
- 34:10Speaker 3: That's how crazy this that season was.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm sitting in the crowd with him, like down with
- 34:16Speaker 1: the players. It's COVID. So I'm sitting by him. There's
- 34:20Speaker 1: just kick.
- 34:23Speaker 2: The kicking the ship like everything. So I'm senter. I said, bro,
- 34:27Speaker 2: if you get closer, like we're not gonna win. Like
- 34:30Speaker 2: I'm telling you. He's like that. Bro, He's just like that,
- 34:33Speaker 2: like he's just it. So it get closer, they call
- 34:37Speaker 2: the time out and like I think they're down like two,
- 34:41Speaker 2: So like Jeff like get it, like bro, like ain't
- 34:44Speaker 2: no way. I'm like, bro, I'm telling you, And he
- 34:46Speaker 2: like you did.
- 34:47Speaker 3: I called about to do that that step back he
- 34:50Speaker 3: hit the game winner.
- 34:51Speaker 2: And literally bro, and like while we watching it, Jeff watching,
- 34:54Speaker 2: I'm back there like Dickie and watch watch.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Like that.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Literally he learned about Luca dont.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Hit the shot, looked at him, he's I told you
- 35:05Speaker 1: we worked for the Celtics.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I told you.
- 35:08Speaker 1: I told you. I'm like, damn, we celebrated ship.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Look ship.
- 35:15Speaker 4: I was like, j T, that's some bullship, man, We're
- 35:17Speaker 4: gonna be up. I quit after this ship anyway kind
- 35:21Speaker 4: of knew. I'm like, man like, just be worried about him.
- 35:23Speaker 2: But I thought that was a dope day because at
- 35:25Speaker 2: the end of that's the first time that youbody ever listening.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah, like April, I was like, years cold. What made
- 35:32Speaker 1: it so funny? J T, that's a shower. I got
- 35:35Speaker 1: we Go. That's why I love et we Go. There
- 35:38Speaker 1: he was like, Luca better than me.
- 35:39Speaker 3: He was like, damn near.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I was like what.
- 35:44Speaker 3: I was like, Nah, hell no, j He was like, Bro,
- 35:47Speaker 3: he's my favorite player. That's a yo et crazy bro
- 35:51Speaker 3: favorite player.
- 35:52Speaker 2: My daughter man, Luca was she did bro? I said, Bro, dude,
- 36:02Speaker 2: that's my favorite player. I'm like, man, like, you got
- 36:05Speaker 2: to meet Luca. Like now that you go to the store,
- 36:09Speaker 2: you like I saw uncle Jason on somebody. Yeah, that's
- 36:14Speaker 2: but you got to meet remember that you got but
- 36:21Speaker 2: funny ship like Jason, that's one of my favorite players. Fast.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I gotta ask how I feel to see them. Know
- 36:26Speaker 1: what I'm saying, be Victorias, y'all know what I'm saying.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Y'all saw them early on, putting in the hard work
- 36:30Speaker 1: for them to win, and y'all to know them for real?
- 36:32Speaker 3: For how did that feel to see them cross one?
- 36:34Speaker 4: Man?
- 36:34Speaker 2: I thought it was I thought it was dope.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Man.
- 36:36Speaker 2: You know what Tatum, Bro, he's such a good dude.
- 36:39Speaker 2: So when you sit there like like when you talk
- 36:41Speaker 2: to me, listen when I was young, Bro, I wann't listening.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Ship for real, So like when you talk to me,
- 36:46Speaker 2: really take advice, Like, Bro, you a good kid. But
- 36:50Speaker 2: when when when he tasks back in and like you know,
- 36:53Speaker 2: you talk to him like you really want people like
- 36:55Speaker 2: that to win? You know what I'm saying. Even when
- 36:56Speaker 2: you sit there and you build brotherhood like Jack my
- 37:00Speaker 2: fault Jeff, Jeff won the championship and he facetimed us
- 37:03Speaker 2: from the locking. Yeah, when you sit down, it's like
- 37:05Speaker 2: when you look at Club five twenty and everything, Like, Bro,
- 37:08Speaker 2: I be turned up for y'all because anybody brother, it
- 37:10Speaker 2: is dope to see you know, good people winning.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Sure you feel about you. That's why our group chat.
- 37:16Speaker 1: When we be talking, I'd be just having a bob,
- 37:17Speaker 1: but I'll be telling him some of the stuff we
- 37:19Speaker 1: talking about, just not everything, but some of the stuff
- 37:21Speaker 1: that we'd be like laughing.
- 37:22Speaker 2: At, joking about.
- 37:23Speaker 1: But like j T, like you said, see him win
- 37:26Speaker 1: and know how much like how bad he wanted to win.
- 37:28Speaker 2: We was like yeah, but me and.
- 37:30Speaker 3: E TV like, hey, man, what he doing?
- 37:32Speaker 2: Man?
- 37:32Speaker 3: Like we was watching the finals like man, he birst
- 37:34Speaker 3: started playing because you.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Know I'm betting, Like.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like j T for real, Man, is he
- 37:40Speaker 3: gonna make? He need some free thrones?
- 37:42Speaker 2: Know you gonna how seriously when we FaceTime, you know
- 37:44Speaker 2: it's I'm like.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Bro, you see it when my man trophy away, I'm like,
- 37:50Speaker 4: how we feel? How we feel you knowing like what
- 37:56Speaker 4: you think? Literally he said he not even be pick
- 38:00Speaker 4: what were doing?
- 38:01Speaker 2: Man? Was come on, that's my fault of you with
- 38:03Speaker 2: your wifey. I called man late but like you you
- 38:06Speaker 2: see this right saying, I'm like, man, this nigga got
- 38:10Speaker 2: I gotta talk to somebody.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Said he's not MVP.
- 38:12Speaker 2: What we doing?
- 38:13Speaker 1: Said?
- 38:14Speaker 3: I don't know, I said, Jaylen played glease, I'm not
- 38:16Speaker 3: hearing that.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I said. It's like, so what that means for our legacy?
- 38:23Speaker 2: This is all because when you think about that run,
- 38:28Speaker 2: which is crazy. We talked about like you look at
- 38:32Speaker 2: Jordan ninety two, he had that crazy run of a
- 38:34Speaker 2: championship MVP whopped the damn Like maybe Brian did it
- 38:38Speaker 2: once or whatever, but like when you thought about it,
- 38:41Speaker 2: how many times is it perfectly set up for somebody
- 38:43Speaker 2: to win a championship auto Olympics and when it's coming
- 38:47Speaker 2: to the changing of like the tight and yeah it was.
- 38:50Speaker 2: It was really set in prime. Even if you think
- 38:52Speaker 2: about like the Sports Center, like Sports Illustrated article or
- 38:56Speaker 2: like shit, he dropped his Jordan three during the Olympics,
- 38:59Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 39:00Speaker 3: I like it just seems like that's why I was
- 39:02Speaker 3: so mad about the Olympics.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like supposed to be a changing of
- 39:05Speaker 1: the guard, and I just felt like it was supposed
- 39:07Speaker 1: to be him because it was all set up, even
- 39:09Speaker 1: though it might be in AE.
- 39:10Speaker 3: I don't know who it was really.
- 39:12Speaker 4: But like this what made me so mad that never
- 39:16Speaker 4: happened to anybody else.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Bro, you understand, I don't give a damn what you're
- 39:20Speaker 2: talking about. I'm the star player. I know him, Melity,
- 39:22Speaker 2: But like Derek White, Drew, y'all better say, y'all ain't
- 39:25Speaker 2: playing get into because the world ain't right.
- 39:31Speaker 3: That's the fact.
- 39:32Speaker 2: The world already fucked up.
- 39:33Speaker 1: It's like they tried to dim his light on purpose
- 39:35Speaker 1: and they're just like, oh, he's taking it this striw
- 39:37Speaker 1: he's such a good one.
- 39:38Speaker 3: No, he crashed out.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Bro, that's the first time I felt like they
- 39:42Speaker 2: went crazy on the ricelin. Let's target it, Bro, if
- 39:46Speaker 2: you think about it, I felt like it was something
- 39:48Speaker 2: deeper balls and just like rotation. Now you say, I
- 39:52Speaker 2: can't hop like give me eleven minutes.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Yeah, he was supposed to be in the rotation. But
- 39:58Speaker 4: like Bro said, Jeff made a great point like maybe
- 40:01Speaker 4: he come back, like he's.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Gonna come back.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Steve Steve, Steve, he quit before they fired him. They
- 40:09Speaker 2: said this was this was his last.
- 40:11Speaker 1: He knew last I was man when he shout up
- 40:14Speaker 1: to the lookings like Nigga, I saw what you did
- 40:16Speaker 1: last sum with this team. They was like, you gotta go,
- 40:18Speaker 1: but we need j T for the Great Hill on
- 40:21Speaker 1: his way out too. He keeps troubling let Great Hill too.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Because the fact shot man, y'all know this, Nigga man
- 40:31Speaker 2: Haler Burden DJ DJ like the fact like, for instance,
- 40:37Speaker 2: they didn't have like dang mm hmmm, I'm team us
- 40:41Speaker 2: a shot out to Haller Burdon. But like then they
- 40:43Speaker 2: have Kyrie, like come on, my g like two little
- 40:46Speaker 2: cold dudes and then let the killers be like I
- 40:51Speaker 2: don't know, Like that was crazy, bro.
- 40:54Speaker 1: And when he said we might considering Jailer Brown for
- 40:56Speaker 1: between twenty years, I said, he's out of.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Old, out the pot. Here's true, he's definitely trying. It's
- 41:03Speaker 2: like thirty one, like by time to get today age,
- 41:04Speaker 2: it's gonna be super rich. Like, Bro, I don't start
- 41:06Speaker 2: my own country. I told you.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Contry hop it up here. I'm playing for so then
- 41:15Speaker 3: next twenty eight reversible Lou.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I laughed, you Bro, I laugh you, Bro. I lad me,
- 41:28Speaker 2: look who's the best player you ever played with? Mm hmm, Bro,
- 41:35Speaker 2: it's a it's so different. I think pound for pound,
- 41:39Speaker 2: damn name was cold but Isaiah Thomas. Because when you
- 41:42Speaker 2: break it down, bro, niggas, you would be like in
- 41:46Speaker 2: practice and you see Brad talking to him and he'd
- 41:48Speaker 2: be looking up you, like, Bro, this is our best
- 41:50Speaker 2: player for this, you know what I mean? Like you
- 41:52Speaker 2: the shortest doing the huddle heat like five eight, this
- 41:56Speaker 2: is the lead dog. But like literally, Bro, every the
- 41:58Speaker 2: stuff I saw him doing ain't a night out like
- 42:01Speaker 2: how talented he was. But one thing that occurred that
- 42:05Speaker 2: I think that. I always said, like that little fucker
- 42:07Speaker 2: always worked, like I'm talking about like work work, work,
- 42:10Speaker 2: like show up at the gym seven to eight, like
- 42:12Speaker 2: even now, like still working. And I always thought like, uh,
- 42:17Speaker 2: how you hoop? But like the fire in his eyes
- 42:19Speaker 2: or something like I had never really seen. I thought
- 42:21Speaker 2: PG was pretty cold to be like like when we
- 42:24Speaker 2: were young, like he was, like he's still cold, don't
- 42:26Speaker 2: get it twisted. But the stuff he did with Indy
- 42:28Speaker 2: when I played with him for a couple of months. Pause.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Uh he was twenty two years old dropping forty in
- 42:34Speaker 2: the old school playoffs. Yeah yeah that like oh, like
- 42:37Speaker 2: like why they sports were still one hundred type shit?
- 42:40Speaker 2: And then uh, man, Drew Howday was cold cold Drew
- 42:45Speaker 2: Howdy was like, to be honest with you, because everybody
- 42:49Speaker 2: just mentioned like head the head Drew did they like?
- 42:54Speaker 2: I think Drew was probably like the best I ever
- 42:56Speaker 2: played with.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Yeah, now yeah, man, you talk, you talk bunch a
- 43:00Speaker 1: couple of coffee with the pacers.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Man, what happened?
- 43:03Speaker 2: What was that team? Like?
- 43:06Speaker 3: I killed them?
- 43:07Speaker 2: You was coach? You don't know what happened? This is
- 43:11Speaker 2: what people be forgetting too. I don't know. I just
- 43:14Speaker 2: got there late, so like niggas wildly. But I think
- 43:19Speaker 2: one thing that happened you got to understand too, Like
- 43:21Speaker 2: Jeff correct me if I'm wrong. Before All Star, dudes
- 43:24Speaker 2: go super hard falls. Once All Star is over and
- 43:28Speaker 2: dudes kind of get their accolade, they kind of turn
- 43:31Speaker 2: off a bit. So like when we were sitting there,
- 43:34Speaker 2: we were already kind of taking l's, we were taking adjustments.
- 43:37Speaker 2: But then I think what came down to us, like
- 43:39Speaker 2: with team and competitiveness when you bring me in, like,
- 43:45Speaker 2: of course ears are going to perk up. Like you
- 43:48Speaker 2: got two dudes trying to sign contracts. Lance Stevenson was
- 43:52Speaker 2: ahead of me. You had Paul, George, George Hill. Like
- 43:55Speaker 2: arguably you can sit there and be like George would
- 43:58Speaker 2: be like, damn, he might take my spot. This might
- 44:00Speaker 2: be like he might take my spot and such just such,
- 44:02Speaker 2: and who after Ben and I come in. You know
- 44:04Speaker 2: my personality like talking ship ornery like you know what
- 44:09Speaker 2: I mean, like joking, like poking the bear, like I
- 44:12Speaker 2: just you know what I'm saying, just know what's you know,
- 44:14Speaker 2: know what's going on, but having fun with it. And
- 44:18Speaker 2: I think aside from that, I think the chemistry is
- 44:20Speaker 2: one thing but like, bro, we weren't good enough to
- 44:22Speaker 2: beat the heat nigga, Like when people are asking that
- 44:28Speaker 2: dumb ass question and we cut rotations, So like, y'all
- 44:31Speaker 2: gotta shout out Roy Hibbert because I think he was
- 44:33Speaker 2: unbelievable in George Hill too, Dope dudes, Roy was averaging
- 44:39Speaker 2: six and six bro, and shout out to like Frank
- 44:42Speaker 2: Vogel because I wasn't mad. I'm like, yo, roll with
- 44:44Speaker 2: your killers, but like he's killing us like ship but
- 44:48Speaker 2: like and this is not Roy Hibbert like slander because
- 44:51Speaker 2: Roy Hibbert don't get enough credit for what he's done.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Yeah that verticality, bro, he's a real own star trying
- 45:00Speaker 3: to clown them.
- 45:01Speaker 2: But he wasn't like nothing. You know, George Hill, I
- 45:03Speaker 2: think ye had something like when we were playing our
- 45:06Speaker 2: main go to guys, I don't think we had enough
- 45:09Speaker 2: firepower when we cut the rotation down the second mm hmm.
- 45:12Speaker 2: You're like, come on, brother, you had me like yeah,
- 45:16Speaker 2: me on a like not me now, Like it was
- 45:18Speaker 2: twenty fourteen, y'alls all right, so it was nice CJ. Watson,
- 45:23Speaker 2: Like you had Louis Skola that was still like ramone.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah he was yeah, yeah he was cutting like rotations.
- 45:29Speaker 2: I just think you're not taking out Broun and all
- 45:33Speaker 2: without you know, having a new scheme. But Bro, we
- 45:36Speaker 2: weren't being the heatles Bro and I just I thought
- 45:39Speaker 2: that was like a great starting five. But everybody has
- 45:41Speaker 2: to perform play at a high level. And we only
- 45:43Speaker 2: had like three people playing at the high level. And
- 45:46Speaker 2: you can't and they're three was who Yeah, And then
- 45:49Speaker 2: when you break it down like after that, you know
- 45:51Speaker 2: me and Lance y'all probably we had talked about this.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Me and Lance got into it. And what was so
- 45:57Speaker 2: funny with that was, uh, me and Lance hung out
- 45:59Speaker 2: every day at each other. Yeah, we say we sat
- 46:05Speaker 2: next to each other on the plane, like me and
- 46:09Speaker 2: him would go out together, like together. And I remember
- 46:13Speaker 2: we're going through like a walkthrough and just like young dudes,
- 46:16Speaker 2: you can instigate some ship Andrew bite him is sitting
- 46:20Speaker 2: on the sideline. Yes, yes, Andrew bidam sitting on the sideline.
- 46:26Speaker 2: And I guess we like going through walkthrough. So me
- 46:30Speaker 2: and Lance are kind of like playing around and like
- 46:33Speaker 2: I think something happened when he's trying to go for
- 46:35Speaker 2: real and like I think I might have stopped him,
- 46:38Speaker 2: and like I think coach yelled, there's something weird. It's
- 46:41Speaker 2: like a weird moment. So then like Andrew's like, ooh,
- 46:45Speaker 2: he stopped at like and Lance like, man, come on,
- 46:48Speaker 2: Burtis ain't got the type of heart I got little
- 46:51Speaker 2: but Lance, if you know, it's personality, that's how it's
- 46:54Speaker 2: just how you talk to New York. And like, you know,
- 46:57Speaker 2: I didn't really kind of take it like oh d
- 47:00Speaker 2: because like at the same time, it's like, come on, brother,
- 47:01Speaker 2: I think it's bugging. This is but you know what
- 47:03Speaker 2: I mean, like you're bugging. So like we go through
- 47:05Speaker 2: it again, and uh, I think I did the same
- 47:09Speaker 2: thing again, kind of like slapped his stop through whatever.
- 47:11Speaker 2: And we kind of like a little tussling a little bit,
- 47:14Speaker 2: and I think I kind of like slapped something again.
- 47:17Speaker 2: So when I turn around, he's like, don't do that
- 47:19Speaker 2: shit no more. So like when he put his finger
- 47:22Speaker 2: in my face, swipe, swipe, we grab each other's throat scratch, men,
- 47:28Speaker 2: I got like duper scratch and I like little scratch,
- 47:30Speaker 2: like duper scratch. Yeah. So then we get off the
- 47:33Speaker 2: court and then uh it got broken up or whatever,
- 47:36Speaker 2: and then uh shit, that was it. That literally was
- 47:39Speaker 2: like the whole moment of the playoffs and was used
- 47:42Speaker 2: and so like that's what ruined us, and it's like
- 47:44Speaker 2: now we was fired. Lance was like really like that
- 47:48Speaker 2: was my man's like you know, as little kids when
- 47:51Speaker 2: you're younger, when you fight over a box of cereal,
- 47:53Speaker 2: like off the principality of it. And I thought that
- 47:57Speaker 2: was pretty much it. And just like a little bit
- 47:59Speaker 2: of shout out to Indiana up in like a fan
- 48:00Speaker 2: base that wasn't real estate. Lord Jesus, am I wrong
- 48:05Speaker 2: for saying that?
- 48:07Speaker 1: Is that the end was not right at that time
- 48:09Speaker 1: because Larry kept drafting white people. So I didn't really care.
- 48:13Speaker 1: We needed we needed to reto he got plumbly. I
- 48:15Speaker 1: was all right, I'm calling these niggas right now.
- 48:16Speaker 2: How we like local fans? How hard pause? How hard
- 48:20Speaker 2: did we jagged a considering? Because you'll probably really thought
- 48:23Speaker 2: we had a chance to win. Y'all was supposed to
- 48:25Speaker 2: lose to US. I wasn't.
- 48:30Speaker 3: We was up gate we y'all was in Atlanta game
- 48:33Speaker 3: six down three two?
- 48:35Speaker 2: Oh you all right?
- 48:36Speaker 4: Bro?
- 48:36Speaker 2: Who got hot that game?
- 48:38Speaker 1: For?
- 48:38Speaker 3: David was hitting it off the backboard.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but the one big foreign dude, Yeah, that's the
- 48:45Speaker 2: reasoner version of Ivan Johnson.
- 48:50Speaker 1: That's why Peril could play. I mean, Hibbert couldn't play
- 48:53Speaker 1: no more. We put Peril three shooting on them three.
- 48:56Speaker 2: But what y'all thing? Y'all thought he was gonna win
- 48:58Speaker 2: the chip that year? But what did y'all keep it
- 49:01Speaker 2: real with you? Like man having old bitch ass and
- 49:04Speaker 2: came out here and fucked up the team like because
- 49:05Speaker 2: literally that's all I ever heard after that, Like bro,
- 49:08Speaker 2: I literally shot four times a game at average seven.
- 49:10Speaker 3: We made it so funny. It was being around and
- 49:12Speaker 3: knowing some of the tape.
- 49:13Speaker 1: You know, you weren't there was problem you fucking and
- 49:16Speaker 1: I knew that, But they just blamed you because they
- 49:18Speaker 1: treated Danny.
- 49:19Speaker 3: That's that's the only thing. You just got slack because
- 49:21Speaker 3: they tried.
- 49:21Speaker 2: That and Danny and Danny average six, I average seven.
- 49:24Speaker 2: You want to know what made me so mad? I
- 49:26Speaker 2: shot fifty percent from the three with the pacers. I
- 49:28Speaker 2: ain't never done that, damn. Like so when I'm sitting here,
- 49:32Speaker 2: I'm like, I hate this bottom, Like you know what
- 49:34Speaker 2: I mean, use his high hand, use this book. That's
- 49:43Speaker 2: the only thing I'm showing. Fifty percent They got so
- 49:46Speaker 2: after that, I never shot at three again, and it
- 49:49Speaker 2: was just a bad fit. That's a bad fit. But
- 49:51Speaker 2: like that time, it hit me with a doozy like
- 49:53Speaker 2: I said, I was supposed to have an eight point
- 49:54Speaker 2: seven million dollars signing bonus. Damn my dumb ass trying
- 49:58Speaker 2: to be probably for like, man, this team, y'all keep
- 50:01Speaker 2: the playoff money. So I gave up a quarter million, man, hey,
- 50:06Speaker 2: find me a new team, like all right, you mis
- 50:09Speaker 2: qualifying bonus. And then in sordanter Ferrari that same week.
- 50:14Speaker 2: But you know somebody has like I guess I didn't
- 50:24Speaker 2: comprehend how serious it was obvious. Yeah, So then that
- 50:29Speaker 2: free agency comes out in like July first, like my
- 50:31Speaker 2: phone ain't ring. Then we get always fighting ship like
- 50:35Speaker 2: August mitched cup Check called me and it's like, what
- 50:38Speaker 2: do you do. I'm like, I guess I dribble shoot
- 50:42Speaker 2: like you know, that's what Kobe do. I'm kind of
- 50:47Speaker 2: like Kobe, like, don't call me and ask me what
- 50:52Speaker 2: I did. And I'm like, with all due respect, man,
- 50:55Speaker 2: like I'm not saying on the best, but like you
- 50:57Speaker 2: all didn't lost y'all, like owen forever the past three years,
- 51:00Speaker 2: not average like twenty five, like to offer me a quarter,
- 51:04Speaker 2: I'll get it off the block and type shit like
- 51:13Speaker 2: but be and honestly I was not. I'm never like that,
- 51:16Speaker 2: so don't get At the same time, Familion, I'm like, bro, like,
- 51:19Speaker 2: we'll get off the bike. Seriously, like you might as
- 51:22Speaker 2: well throw my life away and get it off the block.
- 51:24Speaker 2: And that's not being like, that's ignorantly speaking. That's what
- 51:27Speaker 2: I thought at the time. And I'm luckily shout out
- 51:30Speaker 2: to Brad Stevens. He's like, bro, I can't let people
- 51:33Speaker 2: to you like that. I don't know what change you found.
- 51:37Speaker 2: But he gave me a little bit of money and
- 51:38Speaker 2: help me, help me and like, no joke, help me
- 51:42Speaker 2: get my career back. Because even when I left that
- 51:44Speaker 2: situation with the Pacers, you got to think I went
- 51:46Speaker 2: from like the six series of like I was supposed
- 51:49Speaker 2: to be like a megastar and then I wasn't. And
- 51:50Speaker 2: then ship just hit the ground, and you know, you
- 51:53Speaker 2: go to a real point where Jeff, you relate, are
- 51:56Speaker 2: you going overseas or you're going to play and stay
- 51:58Speaker 2: and fight? So that was, uh, that's real as ship.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Like we laugh about it, but you know, I joke
- 52:04Speaker 2: about it but it was some real stuff and you know,
- 52:06Speaker 2: obviously it didn't stay dark forever.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Plays in the playoffs when you was in Boston. Yeah,
- 52:13Speaker 1: I have a squad, but y'all talk the most shit.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I said, they put Jay Crowder. All these safety.
- 52:23Speaker 2: We talked the most. Ship were all mid except from
- 52:26Speaker 2: one dude bro like one person get hot. Like everything
- 52:32Speaker 2: I te average thirty. I eat my little ten. And
- 52:35Speaker 2: then every blue moon when I go get seventeen, and
- 52:37Speaker 2: you're gonna hear about it twenty every game I have seventeen. Yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 2: little nigga.
- 52:43Speaker 3: Everybody had Avery Bradley talk. He never even talked.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but like that was like that was and if
- 52:48Speaker 2: you think about it, it's like the real first time
- 52:50Speaker 2: they'll tell you I really jumped out my shell for real,
- 52:52Speaker 2: because like around that time, I was kind of like
- 52:56Speaker 2: I was still on the portrait guards to like marketing
- 52:58Speaker 2: wise Brandon, So like, you know, that was the real
- 53:02Speaker 2: time I was like, Man, I'm just gonna be wan,
- 53:04Speaker 2: gonna be forget, like trying to be perfect. It's like
- 53:07Speaker 2: that shit ain't worked, and legit, ship we I really
- 53:11Speaker 2: jumped off the porch and Sundays Man Sundays Tuesdays Wednesdays
- 53:16Speaker 2: before or after that as a hobby, you know, but
- 53:20Speaker 2: like not jump off the porch and on weird stuff.
- 53:22Speaker 2: But it's like that comrader in that team ship. It
- 53:24Speaker 2: was like, Bro, I realized it took more and not
- 53:26Speaker 2: saying like partying, but it took more to really like
- 53:29Speaker 2: build relationships and what really makes a great team and
- 53:32Speaker 2: atmosphere like ship. We were we were seventh in the East, Bro,
- 53:36Speaker 2: but you couldn't tell us like Tom Brady was walking
- 53:39Speaker 2: the city and we swore we had the streets on wine,
- 53:42Speaker 2: you know, like we go to clubs, I'd be like
- 53:44Speaker 2: I would be on a microphone shining out niggas. That's
- 53:48Speaker 2: getting ten minutes again, Jordan, We really, bro, We had
- 54:02Speaker 2: it cracking. Did won every game?
- 54:05Speaker 4: Y'all.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Ain't want to play some things four Thanksgiving, All Star,
- 54:09Speaker 2: second Nights of back to be like that's the only
- 54:12Speaker 2: reason why we got the forty five wins. Was like
- 54:13Speaker 2: a twenty win talent. We just tried.
- 54:18Speaker 1: By used to. I ain't go like, y'all, did you know,
- 54:21Speaker 1: it's like damn these niggas is good?
- 54:23Speaker 2: Bro. I t was so different, Bro, different, Bro. When
- 54:26Speaker 2: you think he was about like, where do you rank him?
- 54:28Speaker 2: Where do you like? At that time?
- 54:31Speaker 3: He was the toughest cover for me, like.
- 54:33Speaker 2: With Brad Stevens offense, So buck bro, he was.
- 54:36Speaker 1: The toughest bro. Everything ran through him. But he didn't
- 54:39Speaker 1: have a ball the whole time, like y'all used to
- 54:42Speaker 1: run that little floor Where were you called?
- 54:44Speaker 3: Four snap?
- 54:45Speaker 2: I think? And Kelly have to be this somebody and
- 54:47Speaker 2: you bro Kelly Olennitt was throwing that motherfucking shalt Well.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, this ship is wow. He was nice,
- 54:54Speaker 1: he t I mean, I was cold, Bro. I ain't
- 54:56Speaker 1: gonna lie. He was a tough cover and he got
- 54:59Speaker 1: fouled so much.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Hell yeah yeah, went to the line like a motherfucker
- 55:04Speaker 2: was he? What about with d Rose?
- 55:06Speaker 1: Oh no, d Rose, Like I'm talking about that tom
- 55:10Speaker 1: My t was a tough color all timas d Rose.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Bro.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Nothing you can do, Bro. You could bag all the
- 55:15Speaker 1: way up in the paint. You could sit on the dots.
- 55:18Speaker 4: Bro.
- 55:18Speaker 3: He will run at you, just jump over you.
- 55:20Speaker 2: You what the fuck?
- 55:22Speaker 1: So then if you get close, he run right by you.
- 55:24Speaker 1: You get the medium he crossed you get. But I'm like, Bro,
- 55:27Speaker 1: I can't guard this food man. That's why I tell you,
- 55:29Speaker 1: Harry hot Light, if you go look, will he run
- 55:31Speaker 1: that MVP year? Probably on fifty of them?
- 55:34Speaker 2: Bro, like different color jurneys that motherfucking cap.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Yo.
- 55:40Speaker 2: What was it like? Uh? Was playing with Joe Johnson's
- 55:47Speaker 2: cold man?
- 55:48Speaker 1: He probably, I tell everybody, probably the most skilled player
- 55:52Speaker 1: I played with because his handle, he could shoot, float
- 55:57Speaker 1: or post up. He ain't really had no like no
- 56:00Speaker 1: on his game. He could play defense. Only thing he
- 56:02Speaker 1: couldn't do. He won the athletic but he could score
- 56:04Speaker 1: with the best of them. He was really liked that.
- 56:06Speaker 1: And what was your favorite era?
- 56:08Speaker 3: Fatigue?
- 56:09Speaker 2: Right over?
- 56:10Speaker 3: I don't get this nigga.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Because it's dope the here now like as friends that
- 56:16Speaker 2: went on the journey with him, like growing up, it's
- 56:18Speaker 2: like ship y'all met, and like how long you know
- 56:20Speaker 2: each other?
- 56:21Speaker 3: Niggas?
- 56:22Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 56:23Speaker 4: You think about really well, this nigga probably win't right
- 56:27Speaker 4: before he made the All Star and through on, like
- 56:31Speaker 4: right that year before that's when I really start going
- 56:34Speaker 4: to the A heavily.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. He was a different player for sure
- 56:38Speaker 2: to me.
- 56:40Speaker 3: To me, I probably said the first two years in
- 56:42Speaker 3: Minnesota for sure, wet.
- 56:47Speaker 2: When did y'all start hearing the streets and Indie going
- 56:50Speaker 2: back to the locals and being like, Yo, my nigga,
- 56:52Speaker 2: my nigga, Jeff better than Mike Conley because I know
- 56:54Speaker 2: that was.
- 56:56Speaker 4: Because that had to be, like y'all, did y'all ever
- 56:58Speaker 4: go back like you wouldn't really like, let's talk about it.
- 57:01Speaker 3: It was really e j or nothing like even as
- 57:03Speaker 3: good as Mike was, j was got even even.
- 57:06Speaker 2: What he did to Derrick Rose and high school was crazy.
- 57:10Speaker 1: He did the Jordan kids. Bro, that's what markets is
- 57:12Speaker 1: on that Bro's order story.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Bogus. They bogus because he wasn't supposed to be up
- 57:17Speaker 2: in there and they knew that that was like that
- 57:18Speaker 2: was our like, Bro, it was like the nineteenth best
- 57:22Speaker 2: team on Earth and they got an ESPN game. But
- 57:25Speaker 2: that was just that was it was. You would have
- 57:28Speaker 2: been cool, but he already played ranked players. Yeah, like
- 57:33Speaker 2: Jordan's coming to the building, Gordon, it was bigger than
- 57:37Speaker 2: what you think you think, so it was a whole
- 57:39Speaker 2: production he put on. But like, Bro, you wasn't. It
- 57:48Speaker 2: wasn't time. It was bigger that I actually like that.
- 57:58Speaker 2: That was some real talk.
- 58:01Speaker 4: It was bigger than For sure, that was bigger because
- 58:04Speaker 4: we knew Jordan's kids was cool, but I forgot his name,
- 58:08Speaker 4: the other Jordan, not the fry one, the oldest one.
- 58:10Speaker 4: He had an offer from Jeff Jordan. Jeffy was but
- 58:14Speaker 4: they was both Illinois kids at the time. Yeah, so
- 58:17Speaker 4: that was ADU. So what's so funny is I get
- 58:22Speaker 4: up aired for that? Eric Gordon was, Uh, he was
- 58:27Speaker 4: committed to Illinois. So during that time I was supposed
- 58:31Speaker 4: to commit and de Rose was supposed to commit.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I remember sitting there and being like, all right, bro,
- 58:37Speaker 2: we might have pause have a three headed monster, but
- 58:40Speaker 2: de Rose want to commit, and I'm telling them like, yo,
- 58:42Speaker 2: I'll wait until Derek commits. But it just never happened.
- 58:46Speaker 2: And I feel like that was like one of the
- 58:48Speaker 2: real reasons pushed me to a house state too. H
- 58:51Speaker 2: e Gordon started, Uh, he de committed. He took his
- 58:54Speaker 2: ass on the Indiana, which was very very smart because
- 58:57Speaker 2: that made no goddamn sense. And then uh shit, that
- 59:01Speaker 2: was it. Man, y'all, Homie and Hoop, they're Devin doing this.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Shout to do them out.
- 59:05Speaker 4: Y'all have been cool though, get him on the pot
- 59:07Speaker 4: y'all have been cool at all show that's my guy.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks like that for sure would have been.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Crazy you d Rose, Eric Gordon, that would have been hard, Bro,
- 59:17Speaker 2: I probably would have made it.
- 59:19Speaker 4: You think y'all would have been better than Luther Head
- 59:21Speaker 4: Darren Williams and uh what's my boy?
- 59:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I discriminated against people on the sticky Bro, so
- 59:27Speaker 2: I'd be like, don't ask me, don't ask me ifout
- 59:30Speaker 2: you one of those come saying I'm six seven. It's
- 59:32Speaker 2: like when you sit there, I think like you a
- 59:34Speaker 2: better career though, like like the Illinois up they rose
- 59:40Speaker 2: went to the final four, like the championship game is damnself?
- 59:43Speaker 2: Eric Gordon average twenty seven, like they was probably been
- 59:48Speaker 2: on the bench for just serious, Bro, you would have played.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Bro?
- 59:53Speaker 3: You six seven?
- 59:54Speaker 1: Bro?
- 59:54Speaker 2: All you at the four? Bro, it's college. Thats my
- 59:57Speaker 2: big ten. The ball the first for I don't want
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: to start playing playing like a start. I'm playing like
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: a bum. You're gonna get that shots, Bro stopped talking
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: to me. I'm like, I got six shots. Man. My
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: homie started the game shooting jumping my line.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: You ain't lied what's up? Ro Roll? I know you.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I know, we got to get out of here. So
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: but you get the big deal from Portland.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: After your good years in Boston, you do your thing,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: you come back, you bounce back. Now you get the
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: big deal from Portland.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: What's that like, bro? Man? That was you don't like
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: to get some money from That was the first time
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: I really like, damn, you know what I mean? Like,
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: so I remember going to sleep because you remember, I
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: just told you two years before they did me dirty.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: So I'm like, no, I just know my my free
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: agency finna be. It's gonna be. And so I remember
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: I'm like waking. I talked to my agent the night
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: before it starts paused, and I legit. He'said, you should
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: be straight. We'll have some dope stuff going, like we're
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: gonna start at like fifty. I'm like, oh, that's perfect,
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Like shit, I'll do fifty. And I just remember like
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: going to sleep and waking up in the middle of
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: the night and being like, bro, if they give me
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: fifty million dollars, I'm gonna be mad than I'm a motherfucker.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: But you know what I mean, like in my head
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: because like I had to make up for the last one.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: But I also say now just be grateful. So then
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: like when I wake up, my agent calls me and it'say, yeah,
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: I got a deal for you, and I'm like what
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: is and he's like from Portland. I'm like, okay, I
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: talked to dang right before that. It's like and I'm like, well,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: what is it. He's like, it's a four year deal
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: for like seventy So I'm like seventeen and he's like no,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: like seventy and I'm like, oh my god, like you know.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: So then I call my mom and I'm like, yo, Mom,
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna sign the Portland and I'm gonna get like,
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna sign in Portland for four years seventy millions.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: She's like seventeen. I'm like no, like seven and a
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: d and my friend and like my mom was like
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: that's crazy. She's like that was crazy. That's what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: And she's like, oh my god, and I'm like yeah,
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: So like I'm next. I was supposed to go to
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Portland like the fifth so like I felt like lottery ticket,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: like I was trying not to die. So that's we're
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: gonna get you up here. Due press conference like went
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: like today they're like no. I'm like the fifth I'm
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: like no, I can come Like we don't need to
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: do no, I said, bro, I don't need none of
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: that ship just like go get it, like let's get
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: this deal and like call it to day. But I think, like,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: you know, one thing that occurred that was like pretty cool.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Besides like the money factor was which was cool, it's
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: going to the West. I had so much respect for
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: the teams in the West because I've been in the
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: East for so long. I just remember being like, damn,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: like this is definitely going to be tougher. But you know,
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: as a team like go you know, I was able
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: to go to Western Conference finals for the first time.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: We had two fifty years win seasons, and I thought,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: like shit, like we were able to adapt and do
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: some dope stuff. Granted, I mean Dame did it his
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: damn self, but I mean I was still enjoying myself
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: and having fun. But I think that that part was
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: just a unique time to try to you know and
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: figure out, you know, new ways to play the game
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: and open up your role. But at the same time,
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: we had like, you know, the second best back corner NBA,
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: and it was that was you know, that's a fun
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: time to watch, fun time and be around. But uh,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: you know, I think personally I kind of saw the
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: writing on the wall. I don't know about you, Jeff,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: but like, sometimes you just get tired of like like
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: always adjusting, bro, you know what I mean. Like, and
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: sometimes it wasn't bad, but at one point actually like
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: not like I keep adjusting my role, adjusting my role
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: to the point where it was like kind of like
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: no and void, which wasn't like terrible, but it was
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: also at the same time, like how else can I
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: make an impact here unless you know what I mean,
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: unless I'm able to play heavy or you know, get
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: to that, you know, be able to be in those
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: final minutes. And that was kind of where I knew
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: to myself moving on from there. I always just say like, yo,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: I'm not going to go overseas the second contrast stop coming.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: I'll chalk it up like a man and just be like, yo,
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: it's over. You know what I'm saying. And the same
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: way I was able to take like a thirty year
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: old spot when I was twenty two, I'm like, that's
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: just a game, and I just knew, like, shit, that's
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: a sign and on some trade me like three times
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: in a year. I'm like, man, that shit did I
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: ain't gonna keep playing with me like or that ten days?
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Like you mean like go somewhere for ten days and
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: then not play. It's like like, nah, bro, young kiss my,
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like sign that one thing.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: You know, I'm grateful for, like the league and everything.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: But I was definitely ready to start the new chapter
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: and comprehend like, Yo, it's been a hell of a run.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: But you know, Portland's cool, Portland's a fun time and
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: it was some great runs and great battles and but
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: you know it's damn the people say I played ten.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I'm like, Bro, I played eight. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: It wasn't in a sense like nothing bad, but you know,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: just the time time and changed.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Yeah for sure, man, but you stuck around. But listen, man,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: at we gotta do this again. Man, you failed me
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: at the show. You ain't even a guess, But that's
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: a fact. I want to check my man's out. I
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: gotta hide the point for park Man. Tell the people
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: that need to have to be into bro.
