- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. Well, all eyes are on
- 0:08Speaker 1: Boston and New York. The rivalry renewed on the court tonight,
- 0:12Speaker 1: as is the Knicks and Celtics. And let me tell you,
- 0:15Speaker 1: it's a series we did not get to have last
- 0:18Speaker 1: week last year, as the Knicks were bounced by the
- 0:21Speaker 1: Pacers even before the conference finals. This is a big hurdle.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We'll see if the Knicks can get over that hump
- 0:29Speaker 1: of not winning the second round. And if they can,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Thibodeau's job is saved. But I digress from that because
- 0:37Speaker 1: across from the garden is the Empire State building, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Empire State is catching my eye here on the
- 0:45Speaker 1: one leg up on news because because for all the
- 0:51Speaker 1: times and all the people that are trying to guard
- 0:53Speaker 1: the doors from ferry evasion, the state is stealing our
- 0:57Speaker 1: money to fund the empty even more. Governor Kathy Hokel,
- 1:04Speaker 1: according to Barbara Russell Lennon at am N Y Rights,
- 1:09Speaker 1: Governor Kathy Hockle has said funding for the MTA sixty
- 1:13Speaker 1: eight billion dollar plan will come through a higher payroll
- 1:17Speaker 1: mobility tax for the New York metro area. That's right,
- 1:21Speaker 1: more taxes as we continue to fund an MTA that,
- 1:26Speaker 1: instead of having guards that protect those disabilities, actually guard
- 1:31Speaker 1: to guard them from coming in unless they pay a
- 1:35Speaker 1: fair while watching fair jumpers and ferry vaders go on through. Yeah, MTA,
- 1:41Speaker 1: the target should not be the disabled community. It should
- 1:43Speaker 1: be actual ferry vaders. And I've often thought fair affares
- 1:50Speaker 1: is a little two leftists, But now after seeing how
- 1:55Speaker 1: much people are getting away with on these transit systems,
- 2:00Speaker 1: disabled people should be able to ride for free, damn it.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Because we're hard working Americans. We don't want to jump
- 2:07Speaker 1: turned styles to make a living. We want to live
- 2:10Speaker 1: life and be able to travel, and if making disabled
- 2:16Speaker 1: faares free will help us do that, that should be enabled,
- 2:20Speaker 1: not the fact that the guards are watching over these
- 2:23Speaker 1: ADA doors like we're the criminals. We're not, damn it,
- 2:29Speaker 1: we're not. So when I see a sixty eight billion
- 2:33Speaker 1: dollar plan for the MTA on our backs and our backs,
- 2:41Speaker 1: meeting taxpayers and companies that are working hard to contribute
- 2:44Speaker 1: to the state, I then say, well, then make things freer,
- 2:51Speaker 1: because it's not right that a system like the MTA,
- 2:56Speaker 1: which brings in billions already, should be able to get
- 3:00Speaker 1: more funding while literally literally allowing ferry vaders to steal.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And if that's gonna be the case, then let's move
- 3:16Speaker 1: all the guards away from the ADA doors and let
- 3:19Speaker 1: the ADA folks, disabling people ride for free on any
- 3:23Speaker 1: mode of transportation. I'm saying it here, well, Alex, I
- 3:27Speaker 1: don't make the MTA crumble bowl crap. It won't make
- 3:31Speaker 1: the MTA crumble when I see the state is going
- 3:35Speaker 1: to fund the MTA through this plan, and then put
- 3:39Speaker 1: the strain on businesses large and small, which because she says, well,
- 3:47Speaker 1: this plan on taxpayer payroll mobility won't be affecting small business,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I don't believe that either. I think it will. I
- 3:58Speaker 1: think it will have an effect on both the large
- 4:00Speaker 1: and the small business. And you wonder why companies are
- 4:03Speaker 1: leaving the state. You wonder why. So here she is
- 4:12Speaker 1: punishing the disabled community in general because CDPAP is a disaster.
- 4:16Speaker 1: We'll get to that in a second. And then she's
- 4:19Speaker 1: telling businesses, hey, you're gonna have to pay this tax
- 4:21Speaker 1: so we can fund the MTA. And what is the
- 4:23Speaker 1: MTA doing. They're letting fery vaders go and guarding over
- 4:28Speaker 1: the ADA door, like where are the enemy? Like those
- 4:30Speaker 1: who need the ADA door are the enemy. And I
- 4:33Speaker 1: think this podcast is gonna make this, hopefully bring it
- 4:37Speaker 1: to an end the insanity, because I believe the MTh
- 4:42Speaker 1: have one leg up for people with disabilities and people
- 4:44Speaker 1: who genuinely want to commute the right way, not sneak
- 4:48Speaker 1: under a turnstile, ar jump the turnstile, five hundred more
- 4:55Speaker 1: guards or whatever, and what are they doing. They're not
- 4:57Speaker 1: looking at the ferry vader. They're looking at those of
- 4:59Speaker 1: you the ADA door that could be considered discrimination, that
- 5:07Speaker 1: really could. And then overall there's a two hundred and
- 5:12Speaker 1: fifty four billion dollar budget, two hundred and fifty four
- 5:18Speaker 1: billion dollars to fund what so I believe I believe
- 5:28Speaker 1: that this funding is gonna do nonsense nothing. I think
- 5:36Speaker 1: it's going to just let the MTA continue what they're
- 5:40Speaker 1: gonna do. They're gonna charge nine dollars for congestion pricing.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Then they're gonna also charge for the LR riders. And
- 5:52Speaker 1: that pissed me off too, because again they have to
- 5:55Speaker 1: have incentives for this congestion pricing to work. If you
- 5:57Speaker 1: really want to scare off drivers, which you're never gonn
- 6:00Speaker 1: to do, you make MTA r more affordable. And they're
- 6:03Speaker 1: not gonna do that either. So this whole idea of
- 6:09Speaker 1: funding the MTA on our backs as hard workers, as
- 6:13Speaker 1: had hard working entrepreneurs, small business owners, big business owners, corporations,
- 6:22Speaker 1: it's going to drive more people out of this state.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And I hope people understand that. And instead of funding
- 6:30Speaker 1: for guards that literally do not let the disabled community
- 6:34Speaker 1: go in but watch the ferry vader go by, that's
- 6:37Speaker 1: not what I want to fund. To fund an MTA
- 6:42Speaker 1: that sees still sees panhandling, sees a lot of stuff
- 6:51Speaker 1: on subways and does nothing about it. I don't want
- 6:53Speaker 1: to fund that. I want to fund an NDA MTA
- 6:58Speaker 1: that's for the riders, not for those that want to
- 7:08Speaker 1: skirt the law and want to cause trouble on the
- 7:13Speaker 1: MTA lines. So I can't really applaud this, especially if
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's on taxpayer payer backs. I'm sorry, Governor Hockle, I
- 7:23Speaker 1: just cannot. But what I can applaud is two members
- 7:30Speaker 1: of Assembly who are trying to undo your disaster, Governor
- 7:33Speaker 1: Hokele of cd PAP, of cd PAP, because I know
- 7:39Speaker 1: from personal experience and seeing it firsthand, that there are
- 7:44Speaker 1: healthcare workers not getting paid right now because Governor Hockle
- 7:47Speaker 1: decided to punish the disabled community with this overhaul. That's
- 7:51Speaker 1: why I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Empire report
- 7:57Speaker 1: talk about this that there are legislative health chairs eyeing
- 8:02Speaker 1: action to address cd PAP by Kate Lisa of State
- 8:10Speaker 1: of Politics, New York Legislative Health Chairs I action who
- 8:14Speaker 1: address CDPAP issues. State Senate Health Committee Chair Gustavo Rivers
- 8:21Speaker 1: at his office continues to hear from disabled, our elderly
- 8:24Speaker 1: people who have lost care after personal assistants left the
- 8:28Speaker 1: program due to pay DeLay's, low wages or inadequate healthcare
- 8:32Speaker 1: benefits offered by the new company. Governor Hokeel, you're punishing
- 8:36Speaker 1: the disabled community. Now. You want to punish tax paying
- 8:40Speaker 1: companies to fund an MTA that also punishes the disabled community.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That's not having one leg up for New Yorkers at all.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Rivera called this a boneheaded mistake and that the governor
- 8:57Speaker 1: owns it, he wrote. He told Spectrum News one the
- 9:02Speaker 1: decision to switch to one FI was an enormous mistaken
- 9:06Speaker 1: It was something the Iministration and the Governor insisted need
- 9:09Speaker 1: to be done. We're talking about workers weren't sure they're
- 9:11Speaker 1: going to get paid way to leave their consumers, consumers
- 9:14Speaker 1: who are going to have access to care anymore. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: Rivera said he's going to look at all options as
- 9:24Speaker 1: soon as the budget's done and that we'll have a
- 9:26Speaker 1: lot to talk about. Amy Paul in, the State Assembly
- 9:30Speaker 1: Health Committee chair, also opened to legislative action, but not
- 9:34Speaker 1: sure what that would look like. What they want to
- 9:39Speaker 1: do is they want to submit what they did with
- 9:41Speaker 1: submit a freedom of information law or FOIL to get
- 9:44Speaker 1: the state Health Department's nine billion dollar contract with PPL
- 9:49Speaker 1: announced last year. Paul And said to hopes it will
- 9:51Speaker 1: provide insight into how the legislator can step in to
- 9:54Speaker 1: improve the program. So, Governor Hoco, you don't only have
- 9:57Speaker 1: the federal level stepping in on the cd PA, you
- 10:00Speaker 1: have these local legislators stepping in also. You are screwing
- 10:11Speaker 1: New Yorkers. And I hope someone takes you on in
- 10:16Speaker 1: the gubernatorial election because because this is really not good.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I don't want to say unfair because I want to
- 10:31Speaker 1: sound like I'm gonna say, but it's not fair. It's
- 10:35Speaker 1: not fair that now you're gonna roll out of tax
- 10:38Speaker 1: on payroll, hurting employers to fund an MTA that guards
- 10:45Speaker 1: that has people guarding the AD eight or punishing disabled
- 10:49Speaker 1: people that way, and then you pull this stunt with
- 10:52Speaker 1: the cd PAP punishing disabled people that way, and we
- 10:57Speaker 1: as New Yorkers, able body or not, should not stand
- 11:00Speaker 1: for it. We should have one leg up four air
- 11:03Speaker 1: disabled community and tell the MTA stop guarding the ADA
- 11:09Speaker 1: doors and do your damn job and watch the rest
- 11:12Speaker 1: of the gate. And we should also step up and say, hey,
- 11:17Speaker 1: Governor Hokele, fix cd PAP. You've got the federal level
- 11:23Speaker 1: and you've got the local level the Assembly saying we've
- 11:26Speaker 1: got to get something done about this, and that should
- 11:32Speaker 1: be an alarm bell to you. So I applaud Rivera
- 11:37Speaker 1: and Paullin for their actions to help have one leg
- 11:41Speaker 1: up for New Yorkers with disabilities as they look to
- 11:46Speaker 1: get answers and action done to fix this, as Rivera
- 11:51Speaker 1: called it enormous mistake by Governor Hokel. And thank you
- 11:58Speaker 1: JP at Empire Report for reporting on that bit of
- 12:04Speaker 1: news that I can report to those on the adapting
- 12:07Speaker 1: side and the one leg up on news side of
- 12:10Speaker 1: the one leg Up network. She's running a disaster class
- 12:16Speaker 1: up in Albany. Is Governor hokel And if she doesn't
- 12:21Speaker 1: fix anything, you're gonna see more businesses run because I
- 12:25Speaker 1: don't want to get these taxes on their backs to
- 12:28Speaker 1: fund an MTA that's already ballooned. And then you'll see
- 12:35Speaker 1: more lobbying outside of her office and blocking you know,
- 12:40Speaker 1: escalators and everything for the right to have home health Aids.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You'll see more of that if she doesn't fix this
- 12:48Speaker 1: and allow help to fix it. So that's my little
- 12:56Speaker 1: thought today on the one lie up on news. Don't
- 12:58Speaker 1: punish disabled people at the G eight of the MTA,
- 13:01Speaker 1: of the subways, and don't punish them by threatening home
- 13:08Speaker 1: health aids secure, you know, job security. That's not having
- 13:13Speaker 1: one leg up for disabled people. And if we can't
- 13:15Speaker 1: and if you won't have it, well like someone else
- 13:17Speaker 1: who I'll have one leg up for disabled New Yorkers
- 13:20Speaker 1: and New Yorkers of all backgrounds. That should be the
- 13:25Speaker 1: goal of twenty twenty six because this budget, these plans
- 13:30Speaker 1: to fund the MTA through payroll taxes and then to
- 13:35Speaker 1: also say, well, you know you don't need home health Aids, right,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you could just deal with this overhaul, right, wrong? Wrong,
- 13:44Speaker 1: And I don't believe in marching and I don't. I don't.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm not the type to step out and block hallways
- 13:50Speaker 1: and all that. I don't do that. But I do
- 13:52Speaker 1: have this podcast, and I'm gonna utilize it to benefit
- 13:55Speaker 1: all New Yorkers, able bodied, disabled and what not. And
- 14:03Speaker 1: I think Governor Hockel is not a governor that's looking
- 14:10Speaker 1: out for her people. She's dealing in contracts and not
- 14:19Speaker 1: in real life. And that's not having one leg up
- 14:23Speaker 1: for New York, is it.
