articles of the portal. We are with the director
• 1:02
Massimo Lualdi who introduces the today's topic.
• 1:05
What are we talking about today? The Atlantis,
• 1:07
or rather, the man of Atlantis. When in 1977
• 1:11
NBC aired for the first time the telefilm The
• 1:14
Man of Atlantis, the newspapers expressed themselves
• 1:17
with caustic terms. The Washington Post defined
• 1:20
it as not suitable for children and without appeal
• 1:22
towards adults. in practice a failure and think
• 1:25
that the assumptions because it could become
• 1:27
a successful telefilm there were all four films
• 1:29
for the tv received favorably by the public and
• 1:32
a series of albi to comics edited by marvel comics
• 1:35
I'm sorry it will be such a bore to me I like
• 1:40
the parts to me no I would rather prefer to go
• 1:43
to the pool I can't stay for too long away from
• 1:46
the water you don't have other swags for the
• 1:49
moment no Come on, let's go. The duty is ours.
• 2:21
Dr. Merrill cures the shipwreck, discovers that
• 2:24
he does not remember anything of his past and
• 2:26
gives him the name of Mark Harris. The fish man
• 2:28
has the ability to swim underwater to great depths
• 2:31
and is endowed with a superhuman force. Here's
• 2:34
the doctor. What happened? He was found on the
• 2:37
beach. Maybe he denied it. We intubated him and
• 2:40
gave him oxygen. We tried to ventilate him. He
• 2:43
has 70 of pressure and his wrist is filiform.
• 2:46
We must increase the central venous pressure.
• 2:48
Let's get ready for... una trasfusione. Presto!
• 2:50
MCL. Divisione Economico -Fiscale. Let's try
• 3:26
to make him breathe. Dr. Berkeley, on the phone.
• 3:29
Thank you. I'll be right there, Karen. Excuse
• 3:33
me. Well, how are the rats and dogs doing? Oh,
• 3:36
now I'm taking care of the dolphins. And how
• 3:39
are you? Do you want to go? I can't. I'm not
• 3:42
alone. Just during the first film for TV Mark
• 3:46
discovers a huge underwater habitat built by
• 3:49
Mr. Schubert, a crazy scientist who intends to
• 3:52
destroy the world thanks to a nuclear arsenal.
• 3:55
The man of Atlantis stumbles the plan, but from
• 3:57
that moment Schubert becomes his greatest enemy.
• 3:59
The series, made up of 13 episodes plus 4 films,
• 4:02
had good public success in Europe. It was also
• 4:05
the first American telefilm to be broadcast by
• 4:08
the Chinese People's Republic. What? What did
• 4:13
you say? Desiderated. But how is that possible?
• 4:17
You won't believe it, Doc, but this is the result
• 4:19
of the exams. Okay, I'll come and see it. In
• 4:22
Italy, it arrived in 1980, broadcast by Telemilano,
• 4:26
Futura, Canali 5. The failure of the man of Atlantis
• 4:29
in the United States and the subsequent suspension
• 4:31
of the telefilm, however, allowed Patrick Duffy
• 4:34
to accept the role of Bobby Ewing in the very
• 4:37
lucky series Dallas, that is, the one for which
• 4:39
he is most remembered. Thanks to the director
