- 3:03Speaker 1: Road late Model driver and second generation driver Taylor Horror.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Good morning. I am so thrilled that you are here.
- 3:09Speaker 1: This is so cool.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Good morning, Thank you for having me on.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Wow, you just drove how far to get here now?
- 3:15Speaker 2: An hour?
- 3:16Speaker 1: About an hour? Thank you for doing that. There's so
- 3:21Speaker 1: many people that are thrilled that you're with me here
- 3:24Speaker 1: this morning. You started racing just a couple of years ago.
- 3:28Speaker 1: You're how old are you? Twenty two?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah?
- 3:31Speaker 1: And you started racing at thunder Road in twenty twenty one.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Are you okay?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean there's a lot of a lot of young
- 3:45Speaker 1: women your age who are not doing this. This is
- 3:48Speaker 1: a this is primarily a male dominated sport. I think
- 3:52Speaker 1: you got the memo on that though.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You know this, Yes, that's for sure.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Wow, look at what you've done already. The recipient of
- 4:02Speaker 1: the Ed Carroll Memorial Scolar or Sportsmanship Award and the
- 4:06Speaker 1: first Vermont resident to be selected as a finalist in
- 4:12Speaker 1: the Cooliki Driver Development Program. What is that all about?
- 4:17Speaker 1: I've thought I read up on this a little bit
- 4:19Speaker 1: last night. This is really like a this is serious.
- 4:22Speaker 1: This is a prestigious accomplishment.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's very cool. You know, drivers from all
- 4:28Speaker 3: over the country and even Canada have applied to it,
- 4:30Speaker 3: and uh, to know that I made it with all
- 4:32Speaker 3: the drivers with really great stats and everything. Was very
- 4:35Speaker 3: cool just because you know, my stats aren't where I'd
- 4:37Speaker 3: like them to be, but to know that, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 3: maybe my social media and my work in the community
- 4:42Speaker 3: kind of got me there. So very cool and very
- 4:45Speaker 3: prestigious and such an honor really, and you're going to.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Try to get the Kolviiki Cup.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yes, yep, that's.
- 4:52Speaker 1: The main thing. So what is the I mean, like,
- 4:54Speaker 1: what is it? I mean, what is it? You're you're
- 4:57Speaker 1: you're going to be put to the test.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Wh So it's kind of a weird point system that
- 5:03Speaker 3: we haven't really learned about because they changed it for
- 5:05Speaker 3: this year. But you're trying to raise money for community,
- 5:08Speaker 3: the people in your community or local charities. But it's
- 5:11Speaker 3: also about your on track performance. But it's not necessarily
- 5:14Speaker 3: about winning.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:15Speaker 3: They just want to help us. So they want to
- 5:17Speaker 3: help us learn how to be the best drivers. And
- 5:19Speaker 3: you know, I know we're going to be talking about
- 5:21Speaker 3: nutrition and how exercise helps in you know, pr and
- 5:24Speaker 3: social media. So they're going to kind of help us
- 5:26Speaker 3: in a whole all around way as us drivers. So
- 5:29Speaker 3: I'm really excited to see how that can help me
- 5:31Speaker 3: grow and learn.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I'm just looking here and again I was reading this
- 5:36Speaker 1: last night. Created in twenty fourteen by Alan Kovici's family
- 5:42Speaker 1: to perpetuate the NASCAR Hall of Fame member and nineteen
- 5:46Speaker 1: ninety two NASCAR Cup champions legacy, the program has had
- 5:52Speaker 1: forty six drivers from seventeen states, and like you just said,
- 5:57Speaker 1: two Canadian provinces compete in the North American initiative. It
- 6:02Speaker 1: is awarded just under a million dollars so far. That's huge. Yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 1: in nine classes have competed in fourteen hundred and thirty
- 6:17Speaker 1: eight races, produced two hundred and thirty victories, seven hundred
- 6:21Speaker 1: and nineteen top five, just over one thousand top ten finishes.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Time at Jeski twenty twenty four NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He was the inaugural winner of this.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Yeah, there's been some really great drivers that have come
- 6:38Speaker 3: from this program or been in the program. So it's
- 6:40Speaker 3: really cool to see my name kind of alongside those drivers.
- 6:44Speaker 1: How did you get that? What did you have to do?
- 6:46Speaker 3: So there's a pretty good application that you have to
- 6:49Speaker 3: fill out and I had done it last year and
- 6:51Speaker 3: they choose semi finalists, so I believe last year was
- 6:54Speaker 3: seventeen semi finalists and then they had seven finalists last year,
- 6:58Speaker 3: but this year they did thirteen semi finalists and five finalists.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So it's an application process and then if you make
- 7:06Speaker 3: it to the semi finalist, you have to do a
- 7:08Speaker 3: few interviews with their board and it's quite a stressful process.
- 7:14Speaker 3: But yeah, I was very exciting and rewarding to get
- 7:17Speaker 3: the call that I made it.
- 7:18Speaker 1: In So throughout the season, five finalists going to compete
- 7:22Speaker 1: each other for the thirty k in monies, Yeah, goods
- 7:28Speaker 1: and more. Yeah, Yeah, are you nervous about that?
- 7:33Speaker 3: I mean yes and no. I think that where I'm
- 7:36Speaker 3: at now, no matter where I finish in the program,
- 7:39Speaker 3: it's just going to be such an experience and such
- 7:41Speaker 3: a great experience to be a part of, and going
- 7:44Speaker 3: to take what I can learn from it. You know,
- 7:46Speaker 3: there's more than just your driving stats that go into
- 7:48Speaker 3: the points system, which we're actually going to learn more
- 7:51Speaker 3: about tonight. So I'm excited to see where we.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Can lay up.
- 7:55Speaker 3: But I think, no matter what, just going to take
- 7:57Speaker 3: what I can from it, and super thankful that I
- 7:59Speaker 3: got to be a part of the fists.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's what you've got to compete in a
- 8:04Speaker 1: minimum of like fourteen I think thirteen or fourteen races, right, yep.
- 8:09Speaker 3: So that was pretty easy for us to check off
- 8:11Speaker 3: because I believe thunder Roads points counting races are seventeen
- 8:15Speaker 3: or eighteen races. So we've got that covered at just
- 8:17Speaker 3: thunder Road alone.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Damn late model debut in twenty twenty four. Yeah, last season, yep,
- 8:26Speaker 1: And I see that you're spiling because you kicked ass.
- 8:30Speaker 1: You did very well. Twenty two races, five top five, ten,
- 8:36Speaker 1: top ten. Yeah, it's pretty damn good.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I feel like for a twenty two
- 8:43Speaker 3: year old, I mean it definitely we have plenty of
- 8:47Speaker 3: downs and plenty of ups. I don't honestly know if
- 8:51Speaker 3: those stats are one hundred percent right, and I could
- 8:53Speaker 3: be so wrong because I feel like I had a
- 8:57Speaker 3: lot of downs, but I think that just comes with
- 8:58Speaker 3: your rookie season. But we'd obviously had plenty of highs
- 9:03Speaker 3: and like little winds were big wins for us, So
- 9:05Speaker 3: that was very exciting to, you know, try and take
- 9:08Speaker 3: the most out of little things. But sure, you know,
- 9:12Speaker 3: I would have liked to have done better, but I'm
- 9:14Speaker 3: just I'm probably my worst critic, so yeah, I also
- 9:18Speaker 3: have to remember, I'm learning it was a rookie and
- 9:19Speaker 3: made a big jump and it wasn't going to be easy,
- 9:22Speaker 3: and that is very correct.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It was not easy.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Well, here's a high. Last year. You were the first
- 9:27Speaker 1: female to record a podium finish at thunder Road in
- 9:30Speaker 1: more than a decade. Yeah, I would say, that's where's
- 9:33Speaker 1: my belt? That's pretty damn good.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yes, that was very exciting for our team and for
- 9:37Speaker 2: myself for sure.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Uh the Milk Bowl, you qualified without the use of
- 9:44Speaker 1: a provisional twelve of the Milk Bowl out of forty eight. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 1: what are you saying about that?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Now? That was really cool.
- 9:55Speaker 3: You know, we had had a lot of mechanical issues
- 9:58Speaker 3: going on with the car, so we weren't really sure
- 9:59Speaker 3: where we were gonna line up too, so to come
- 10:03Speaker 3: out and do really well. I tried first attempt, Yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 3: and I've never time tried before and I actually pulled
- 10:09Speaker 3: the second pill so her chip. So I was the
- 10:12Speaker 3: second person out on person out on the track after
- 10:14Speaker 3: Stephen Donahues. So it was very stressful. Didn't really get
- 10:17Speaker 3: time to think about it, but I think that was
- 10:18Speaker 3: good for me. Mentally to just kind of have to
- 10:20Speaker 3: go out there and do the best I can. But
- 10:22Speaker 3: it was fun. I ended up time trying faster than
- 10:24Speaker 3: my brother, but slower than my dad, So it would
- 10:27Speaker 3: have been fun to time trial faster than both of them.
- 10:29Speaker 3: But it was still a fun experience and we made
- 10:32Speaker 3: the best of it.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I'm guessing that dad, Brian Hohorer, was foaming at the
- 10:37Speaker 1: mouth on the other side of the fence.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I'm guessing yes.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I was excited to meet him when he came into
- 10:43Speaker 3: the in field, so it was fun.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I was hoping that I could get him.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I think he was just a teeny bit faster than me,
- 10:49Speaker 3: so but it was fun because you know, he's time
- 10:52Speaker 3: tried many times, so you know he's got that above me.
- 10:55Speaker 1: What is what is your dad saying that about the
- 10:57Speaker 1: fact that you're the first female and over a deck
- 11:00Speaker 1: kate to qualify for the Milk Bowl and grab the
- 11:02Speaker 1: podium at Tea Road. Yes, got to be on top
- 11:05Speaker 1: of the moon, man.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I mean, I think so. And he's very proud of me,
- 11:09Speaker 3: which is is nice. And you know, I feel like
- 11:12Speaker 3: when I can make him proud, which he's often very
- 11:14Speaker 3: proud of me, it means a lot, just because he
- 11:16Speaker 3: obviously accomplished so much in racing. I try to not,
- 11:20Speaker 3: you know, make such a huge deal of like the
- 11:22Speaker 3: third place and the qualifying just because you know, obviously
- 11:25Speaker 3: so many guys have done that. But he wants to
- 11:28Speaker 3: make sure I know that it was cool, and so
- 11:30Speaker 3: he doesn't let me downplay it, which is a very
- 11:33Speaker 3: supportive dad role.
- 11:34Speaker 1: That is so amazing. Tell me you were just you
- 11:38Speaker 1: were just on the air with Dave Moody, right, yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 1: just just recently.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Yes, for the Kola key driver development.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yes, and I've got a quote here from Dave. Dave
- 11:50Speaker 1: wasn't able to join us this morning, however.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Uh.
- 11:53Speaker 1: The first woman to earn the title of King of
- 11:57Speaker 1: the Road, Tracy bell Rose, tell me about Tell me
- 12:00Speaker 1: what Tracy. You look up to her, by the way,
- 12:03Speaker 1: that was twenty five years ago.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yes, I look up to Tracy, and I feel like
- 12:09Speaker 3: she was such a trailblazer, especially at the time because
- 12:11Speaker 3: you know, we don't see too many females in the
- 12:13Speaker 3: sport now, but twenty five years ago, you definitely didn't
- 12:16Speaker 3: see any females or woman in the sport. So it
- 12:19Speaker 3: was really cool that she was able to be so
- 12:21Speaker 3: successful and capture the King Queen of the Road honors.
- 12:25Speaker 3: So it's really cool. And she's been in my corner,
- 12:28Speaker 3: so it's been very nice to have her there. And
- 12:30Speaker 3: she'll always say, you know, reach out if you ever
- 12:32Speaker 3: need advice. And you know, one of the first things
- 12:34Speaker 3: she said is she's like, don't let those guys push
- 12:36Speaker 3: you around. So I take that to heart, and you
- 12:39Speaker 3: know know that she was able to do well with
- 12:41Speaker 3: that advice, and so I definitely love having her in
- 12:44Speaker 3: my corner and wish I could have been there to.
- 12:46Speaker 2: See her race.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Tracy, do you have any advice for Taylor?
- 12:50Speaker 4: Oh, but I love tell her right now she's gonna
- 12:53Speaker 4: relax a little bit.
- 12:54Speaker 2: She's looks a little too uptight. You tricked me.
- 13:00Speaker 4: First of all, congratulations Tyler on the quirky development program.
- 13:05Speaker 4: That is awesome. Top five. That's something I wish was
- 13:08Speaker 4: around when I was racing. Yes, that's phenomenal.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Thank you, Thank you.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So much you Tracy, you remained the only female track
- 13:17Speaker 1: champion yeap.
- 13:22Speaker 2: For now?
- 13:23Speaker 1: For now? Do you think that that Taylor's in contention
- 13:28Speaker 1: of of of maybe getting this The.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Biggest thing that I see with Taylor versus My career
- 13:35Speaker 4: is Taylor her rookie year. She's got a phenomenal team
- 13:39Speaker 4: built around her. She's got phenomenal family sponsors. When I
- 13:45Speaker 4: was a rookie starting off in the late Models, I
- 13:47Speaker 4: was my own team, my family, my father, We didn't
- 13:51Speaker 4: really have the chassis people that she's got. Right now,
- 13:54Speaker 4: I see Taylor doing matching me or doing a lot
- 13:59Speaker 4: better than me.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Wow. Any any other advice for Taylor.
- 14:10Speaker 4: She knows what I told her before this, This Alan
- 14:15Speaker 4: Quickie development program is awesome, but she's gonna put that
- 14:19Speaker 4: on the back burner. She's gonna worry about thunder Road itself,
- 14:23Speaker 4: her development. This is our second year. She knows what
- 14:27Speaker 4: she's done wrong, she knows what she's done right. She's
- 14:29Speaker 4: gonna capitalize on the good points and everything that went
- 14:33Speaker 4: wrong last year. She just gotta slip out under the run,
- 14:36Speaker 4: just start the year all over. I see big, big
- 14:38Speaker 4: things from her this year. I mean I've I've watched
- 14:41Speaker 4: a lot on Facebook, I've watched a lot on the podcast.
- 14:46Speaker 4: I just see Taylor having a breakout year this year.
- 14:49Speaker 4: And I'm I'm gonna try to make some races this
- 14:52Speaker 4: year to watch her live. But I just I really
- 14:55Speaker 4: really feel if there's any female female out there, of
- 14:58Speaker 4: course it's gonna be Brian Horst. Taylor is gonna go far.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Thank you, Tracy. I remember like it was yesterday when
- 15:09Speaker 1: I was working at WDEV and I was running the
- 15:12Speaker 1: controls for Dave Moody on that Thursday night race for
- 15:17Speaker 1: the famous Tracy Belrose shot out of the cannon cannon.
- 15:23Speaker 4: And had to bring it up.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And you ended up in the parking lot. What the
- 15:27Speaker 1: hell happened? What was that? I just remember sitting there
- 15:30Speaker 1: in the studio listening to Dave Moody calling that race,
- 15:35Speaker 1: and just I was stunned. Stunt well, believe it or not.
- 15:41Speaker 4: In twenty twenty three, we had two thousand and three, Actually,
- 15:45Speaker 4: who I'm really aging myself. We were actually having a
- 15:48Speaker 4: better year than what we had in two thousand. We
- 15:50Speaker 4: had a chance for another championship and that was a
- 15:54Speaker 4: points heat race I was going up against. It was
- 15:58Speaker 4: Phil Scott and Jammie fish Share and Jamie Fisher was
- 16:01Speaker 4: behind me and I was not gonna let him go
- 16:03Speaker 4: by me.
- 16:08Speaker 2: The car in front of me, I was.
- 16:09Speaker 4: I was patiently waiting for them to get by him
- 16:12Speaker 4: and I when I went to go around him on
- 16:13Speaker 4: the outside. Joey Becker ended up breaking something in his
- 16:17Speaker 4: right front tire was a link or something, and his
- 16:20Speaker 4: tires just shot at just shot right, and it acted
- 16:24Speaker 4: like a ramp, and when I hit him, it.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Just as all.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I remember, shut my eyes and hoping for the best.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's it's a miracle that you got out of that
- 16:42Speaker 1: car and that you were okay. I mean everyone I
- 16:49Speaker 1: remember being in me.
- 16:50Speaker 4: What I didn't know was the parking lot upside down,
- 16:54Speaker 4: and I was just pulling myself up because I knew
- 16:56Speaker 4: better to undo my buckles because I was going to
- 16:59Speaker 4: land on my head, and I could just see feet
- 17:02Speaker 4: running around my car and just nobody was helping me.
- 17:05Speaker 4: I didn't realize I was fans that had come out
- 17:08Speaker 4: of the grand stands, and I could hear nobody dared
- 17:11Speaker 4: to look under because I thought I was dead. And
- 17:15Speaker 4: finally the EMTs got there and they crawled under, and
- 17:18Speaker 4: the first thing out of my mouth is about freaking time.
- 17:21Speaker 2: My blood is rushing to my head.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Well, they unbuffled me, and when I get out, I
- 17:27Speaker 4: looked around. I looked at the lady that was on
- 17:31Speaker 4: the EMT, and I said, where the hell am I?
- 17:33Speaker 4: She says, You're in the parking lot.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Unreal.
- 17:37Speaker 4: The next thing I said is, oh my god, somebody
- 17:39Speaker 4: find my mother.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and and let her know that I'm all right,
- 17:45Speaker 1: h exactly. I you know, you are such a still
- 17:51Speaker 1: a fan favorite, and we're looking forward to you, uh
- 17:55Speaker 1: skipping over the other side of the Connecticut River and
- 17:57Speaker 1: coming to to some of these races and act Racis
- 18:01Speaker 1: that that Taylor is going to be sharing the track with.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I mean, this is really something this this season. It's
- 18:07Speaker 1: gonna be amazing.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I definitely plan on going to opening Day
- 18:11Speaker 4: the Sunday. I plan on going to that for sure,
- 18:14Speaker 4: and then you go from there. But I'm definitely gonna
- 18:16Speaker 4: go support her and and hopefully watch her get some
- 18:19Speaker 4: good finishes this summer.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Tracy, thank you so much for coming on with us
- 18:23Speaker 1: this morning.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Oh my pleasure. Yes, thank you for all those kinds. Welcome,
- 18:28Speaker 2: good luck, get out. Thank you.
- 18:30Speaker 1: She said something what a great lady.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely, an icon absolutely.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And she's she's I mean, there was something in that
- 18:45Speaker 1: woman's eye that you could see. You could see it,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and I've seen some video of you driving. You've got
- 18:58Speaker 1: that that crazy look in your eye too, just like
- 19:01Speaker 1: you're you're you're you're you're, You're kind of relaxed, You're
- 19:06Speaker 1: you're kind of fun, you have you have a great personality,
- 19:09Speaker 1: thank you. But when you get buckled in, you you
- 19:16Speaker 1: know what's what's coming, and you know, you know who
- 19:19Speaker 1: who you're going to be sharing that track with, which
- 19:22Speaker 1: is a lot of a lot of men who really
- 19:24Speaker 1: don't really give a ship that there's another woman out
- 19:28Speaker 1: there on the track. They want to win.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, they're not going to race you any differently, No, and.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I wouldn't want them to, you know, I like what
- 19:38Speaker 3: you said. I try to be a very bubbly person
- 19:40Speaker 3: outside of the race car, and you'll probably hear me
- 19:43Speaker 3: say I'm stressed twenty times a race day. But I
- 19:45Speaker 3: absolutely love my team and you know, they keep the
- 19:48Speaker 3: spirits high. But the second I get in that race card,
- 19:50Speaker 3: my team kind of knows. It's like the second that
- 19:52Speaker 3: helmet goes on, it's like maybe one or two people
- 19:55Speaker 3: can talk to me. Otherwise it's just a quick little
- 19:57Speaker 3: good luck And you know, I'm very in the zone
- 20:00Speaker 3: and focused and trying to you know, visualize what I
- 20:03Speaker 3: need to be doing or you know, breathe through the
- 20:05Speaker 3: anxiety or the nerves or whatever it is, because you know,
- 20:08Speaker 3: I think all of us racers get butterflies still before
- 20:10Speaker 3: we go out. So but yeah, I mean, you know,
- 20:14Speaker 3: I hope that the guys wouldn't treat me any differently.
- 20:16Speaker 3: I kind of like to think that my car doesn't
- 20:18Speaker 3: know whether I'm female or male, and especially when you
- 20:20Speaker 3: put that helmet on, no one should be able to tell.
- 20:23Speaker 3: So you know, I wouldn't want them to race me
- 20:25Speaker 3: any any differently, and I don't think anyone really has,
- 20:28Speaker 3: so I'm very thankful for that.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I was chatting with Dave Moody early this morning, and like,
- 20:34Speaker 1: like we said, you were just you were just on
- 20:37Speaker 1: the air with him a short time ago. He's not
- 20:40Speaker 1: able to join us on the air by phone, but
- 20:43Speaker 1: he did send me something that I'm going to read here.
- 20:45Speaker 1: It says Taylor has always been willing to jump into
- 20:48Speaker 1: the deep end of the pool competitively, taking on the
- 20:52Speaker 1: best drivers and teams in the business. She's a quick learner,
- 20:55Speaker 1: She's going to go a long way in the sport.
- 20:58Speaker 1: She's a racer from a racing family, and her resume
- 21:02Speaker 1: has a lot of chapters to be written yet that's
- 21:05Speaker 1: pretty cool.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very cool. Definitely.
- 21:08Speaker 3: You know he's seen some of the best of the best,
- 21:10Speaker 3: and obviously you know he's in the NASCAR industry and
- 21:13Speaker 3: really had whatever you say, deep into the motorsports world.
- 21:16Speaker 3: So means a lot coming from him, because you know
- 21:19Speaker 3: he's seen everything at thunder Road and been a big
- 21:22Speaker 3: supporter of mine, So definitely means a lot coming from him.
- 21:26Speaker 1: We have a few veteran Warrior drivers that are graduating
- 21:35Speaker 1: this year into into the Streets and they're they're pretty
- 21:41Speaker 1: excited about it.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I would be too.
- 21:44Speaker 1: There's there's some some pretty cool changes that are coming.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Tyler Watley, Jason Kirby I think is also wonderful. It's
- 21:55Speaker 1: pretty cool.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very exciting.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I mean I got to experience the Warrior community firsthand
- 22:01Speaker 3: with my brother Justin, and so you know, even before
- 22:04Speaker 3: I started racing, that community back there is just so
- 22:06Speaker 3: awesome and there's such a tight knit group and willing
- 22:09Speaker 3: to help each other out. But then you know, the
- 22:11Speaker 3: street Socks are the same way, and I absolutely love
- 22:13Speaker 3: my time in the street Sucks And you know, I
- 22:15Speaker 3: kind of like to say his little family, I'm you know,
- 22:17Speaker 3: behind the Eddie Carroll Memorial Highway, and so you know,
- 22:21Speaker 3: I'd be excited for them and excited to see how
- 22:23Speaker 3: well they do because it's such a fun little group
- 22:26Speaker 3: over there in the street socks, and I definitely miss
- 22:28Speaker 3: the community that they have because you don't really find
- 22:30Speaker 3: that in the late models as much.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah, your brother, he's also a late model driver. Yes,
- 22:36Speaker 1: how's he compared to you?
- 22:38Speaker 3: He's you know, he's got he's got experience on me,
- 22:43Speaker 3: and you know he's raised you know, he raised tigers,
- 22:45Speaker 3: so I think, you know, he's just got a little
- 22:48Speaker 3: bit of experience. But he really did start racing when
- 22:50Speaker 3: I did too, so we're still both learning a lot.
- 22:54Speaker 3: And I think he has a lot to show for
- 22:56Speaker 3: thunder Road this year. So I think it's going to
- 22:58Speaker 3: be a pretty good battle between him and I a
- 23:00Speaker 3: few times this year.
- 23:02Speaker 1: You haven't traded paint with him yet, not yet.
- 23:07Speaker 3: And he's my car chief, so you know, I think
- 23:10Speaker 3: he doesn't want to do anything bad to me. Yeah,
- 23:16Speaker 3: I mean, I think if it's you know, we all
- 23:18Speaker 3: kind of put in on the car and put our
- 23:20Speaker 3: time in together, but certainly not what we want to
- 23:24Speaker 3: do to each other and put more work for each other.
- 23:26Speaker 1: So last summer, you guys did something together, you and
- 23:30Speaker 1: your product, justin for Camp to come to yep, tell
- 23:33Speaker 1: us about it.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yes, So we got invited to bring our race cars
- 23:36Speaker 3: to Camp to come to for their Red their Engines week,
- 23:39Speaker 3: and it was really fun because there was a few
- 23:41Speaker 3: drag racers dirt cars and I think just show cars
- 23:44Speaker 3: and then are too late models. So it was really
- 23:46Speaker 3: cool to meet the kids there and actually was kind
- 23:49Speaker 3: of full circle because I believe for my sixth or
- 23:51Speaker 3: seventh birthday, I didn't ask for presents. I asked for
- 23:54Speaker 3: people to bring a donation so I could bring teddy
- 23:56Speaker 3: bears to camp to come to and leave them on
- 23:58Speaker 3: all their beds. So it's it's really cool to get
- 24:00Speaker 3: to go back there, being well twenty one at the
- 24:03Speaker 3: time or maybe twenty two depending on what month of
- 24:05Speaker 3: the summer. But it was very cool and very inspiring
- 24:09Speaker 3: just because you know some of these kids, you wouldn't
- 24:11Speaker 3: never know what they've gone through, and just to see,
- 24:13Speaker 3: you know, they don't want to be treated differently and
- 24:16Speaker 3: you know how much they're persevering in their everyday life
- 24:19Speaker 3: is really inspiring.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you drove away from that experience with something that's
- 24:26Speaker 1: going to stick to your bones for a little while.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Absolutely, I you know, I went there hoping to kind
- 24:31Speaker 3: of be able to bring some joy and inspiration to them,
- 24:35Speaker 3: but you know, they inspired me more than anything, just
- 24:38Speaker 3: you know, knowing what they go through on the day
- 24:39Speaker 3: to day and or what they've gone through, and knowing
- 24:43Speaker 3: how much how hard that was mentally, I'm sure, and
- 24:46Speaker 3: just how much you have to persevere in life and
- 24:48Speaker 3: push through no matter what.
- 24:50Speaker 1: How many how many cars do you have? And I
- 24:53Speaker 1: want to know if if your dad, Brian, if he's
- 24:56Speaker 1: turned in some wrenches for you.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Yes, So we have three like models in our shop
- 25:00Speaker 3: right now. One is his, one is my primary thunder
- 25:04Speaker 3: Road car, and we're fortunate enough to have kind of
- 25:06Speaker 3: a backup car or a car that my brother can
- 25:09Speaker 3: play in, or if I want to go to another
- 25:12Speaker 3: track other than thunder Road, I'll drive that car. So
- 25:14Speaker 3: very fortunate in that aspect to have that amount of cars.
- 25:18Speaker 3: But yeah, no, my dad, he's turning wrenches. I think
- 25:20Speaker 3: that this whole jump from being a driver his whole life,
- 25:24Speaker 3: and you know he did work on his cars when
- 25:25Speaker 3: he was you know, big time racing but I think
- 25:28Speaker 3: not in the extent that he is now so and
- 25:31Speaker 3: I could be wrong, so sorry, dad, But it is
- 25:35Speaker 3: fun to see him working and learning on the cars
- 25:37Speaker 3: because I think we're all trying to just be able
- 25:39Speaker 3: to learn, so you know, if we need to be
- 25:40Speaker 3: able to do it all ourselves one day, we can.
- 25:44Speaker 3: And it's also just exciting to be able to learn
- 25:45Speaker 3: everything about our cars and see how everything works.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Sure. So yeah, I art you say other other tracks.
- 25:53Speaker 1: There are going to be other tracks other than thunder
- 25:56Speaker 1: Road for you this summer. You're gonna head to SEACONK.
- 25:58Speaker 1: You're going to head to Oxford Why Mountain yep.
- 26:01Speaker 3: So we're definitely going to be at the two Oxford
- 26:03Speaker 3: races with the American Canadian Tour, and then we're going
- 26:06Speaker 3: to do two of the three Walls Platinum four Series races,
- 26:12Speaker 3: I think right, I think we are realizing that my
- 26:16Speaker 3: dad is out of town for that, okay, and I
- 26:18Speaker 3: think he's traveling with my crew chief, so I fear
- 26:22Speaker 3: I'm out of luck with that. But we're gonna try
- 26:25Speaker 3: and hit other races when we can, just to expand
- 26:27Speaker 3: my development as a driver. But obviously the main focus
- 26:30Speaker 3: is thunder Road. And White Mountain is a really fun track,
- 26:33Speaker 3: so we're excited to go there, and you know, just
- 26:36Speaker 3: build the books with our race cars and obviously just
- 26:38Speaker 3: keep getting seat time for myself to learn.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Let's go back to Little Taylor Whore. How old were you?
- 26:51Speaker 1: What what you remember being at thunder Road with your dad?
- 26:59Speaker 3: I guess I don't know how young I was, but
- 27:01Speaker 3: I definitely remember. I feel like I have two like
- 27:05Speaker 3: core memories of when I was younger.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Do you remember being in your mom's womb at the
- 27:10Speaker 1: thunder Road?
- 27:11Speaker 3: No, not that far back, but definitely like he was
- 27:15Speaker 3: just such a dominant driver, especially when I was younger.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I mean, he's pretty dominant no matter what. And so
- 27:21Speaker 3: I remember just basically always watching him win. That's my
- 27:24Speaker 3: memory of him. And I even remember sometimes he would
- 27:27Speaker 3: win and no one likes a winner, so you know,
- 27:29Speaker 3: people would boo him, and I remember just being to
- 27:32Speaker 3: my mom like, why are people booing dad? Yeah? Yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 3: And you know, I think that's just a real thing,
- 27:37Speaker 3: especially at under Road, when you win so much people
- 27:39Speaker 3: don't really love it.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:40Speaker 3: So but I just you know, especially when I got
- 27:44Speaker 3: into the sport in the street socks, I remember just
- 27:46Speaker 3: being like, you made it look way too easy. That
- 27:49Speaker 3: this is a large piece of humble pie. So it's
- 27:54Speaker 3: a very hard sport and he made it look easy.
- 27:56Speaker 3: So big kudos to his accomplishments and racing.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And you got older at some point, what happened there
- 28:04Speaker 1: was a switch that went off for your like, yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I might want to do this.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 3: So we It wasn't even because of my dad necessarily,
- 28:13Speaker 3: because we weren't really allowed to go to the race
- 28:15Speaker 3: track once he had retired, or wasn't not allowed. It
- 28:17Speaker 3: was just kind of a no no because obviously it
- 28:20Speaker 3: was a hard decision for him to retire. So it was,
- 28:22Speaker 3: you know, kind of bittersweet for him to be going
- 28:24Speaker 3: back to the racetrack when I think he would still
- 28:26Speaker 3: have rather been behind the wheel.
- 28:29Speaker 2: But in twenty twenty, my brother justin.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Hopped behind the wheel of a Warrior car and I
- 28:33Speaker 3: had started going to the track with some friends and
- 28:35Speaker 3: you know been like, oh, my brother's just racing. So
- 28:37Speaker 3: you know, that next week I ended up going to
- 28:39Speaker 3: the pits and you know, pretended to play crew chief
- 28:41Speaker 3: we'll call it, and a kind of got the bug.
- 28:44Speaker 3: I would, you know, drive his car to line up
- 28:46Speaker 3: and had so much fun that the rest of the
- 28:49Speaker 3: summer kind of spent begging for a race car and said,
- 28:52Speaker 3: you know, I had just retired from gymnastics, so you know,
- 28:55Speaker 3: needed something new in life and definitely found the passion
- 28:58Speaker 3: and the bug for racing. And that's for sure.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I wonder what's more expensive as a sport, gymnastics or
- 29:05Speaker 1: stock car driving. It's close, it's close. I don't know.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I think even at the highest level, I don't think
- 29:15Speaker 3: you could ever compare to racing.
- 29:16Speaker 1: To tell me it is so so as a young girl,
- 29:23Speaker 1: you got upset because your sister was allowed places you weren't.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember being mad at my dad when he
- 29:35Speaker 3: retired in twenty fifteen because I was thirteen and thunder
- 29:38Speaker 3: Road and a lot of racetracks.
- 29:40Speaker 2: The pit age for kids to.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Come in was fourteen, and my sister is twenty two
- 29:44Speaker 3: months older than me, so she was able to start
- 29:47Speaker 3: going in. So just like it was that sister jealousy
- 29:50Speaker 3: of like, you know, pictures of her working on the car,
- 29:52Speaker 3: pushing the car around, and I was like, I want
- 29:54Speaker 3: to do that. And I just remember being so mad
- 29:57Speaker 3: at my dad when he retired because I was like
- 29:59Speaker 3: I was gonna be able to go of the.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Pits finally.
- 30:02Speaker 1: In a thirteen year old girl who's angry. That's that's
- 30:06Speaker 1: that's not good. That's not good.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I mean, I will say I look back on it now,
- 30:10Speaker 3: and he retired to be with us girls. We were
- 30:13Speaker 3: getting bigger in gymnastics and my sister with horses, So
- 30:17Speaker 3: he obviously was making the right decision for the family.
- 30:19Speaker 3: And so I look back and I'm like, I can't
- 30:22Speaker 3: actually be mad at him because he was doing that
- 30:24Speaker 3: for us, and that was a hard decision for him
- 30:26Speaker 3: to do for us. So definitely still look back and
- 30:29Speaker 3: I'm like, darn it, I didn't get to on the pits,
- 30:30Speaker 3: but obviously I'm very fortunate to where things have turned
- 30:33Speaker 3: out now. So were you crewing for him, No, not really,
- 30:39Speaker 3: kind of maybe in the stands supporting right here. Yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 3: definitely was just too young and Rick pay I had
- 30:46Speaker 3: quite the operation going for him, especially with the thirty
- 30:49Speaker 3: seven crew, and I definitely don't remember the forty five
- 30:53Speaker 3: crew that.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Well just because I was so young.
- 30:55Speaker 3: But I definitely have fun when he races now, getting to,
- 30:59Speaker 3: you know, help for him and be there to support him.
- 31:01Speaker 3: And I even got a chance to spot for him.
- 31:03Speaker 3: So it's really exciting to be able to do that now.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Stacey just sent a text here, sayan, I remember when
- 31:11Speaker 1: I was hauling cars. It would find him in the
- 31:14Speaker 1: shop working on the number forty five and Grandpa's number
- 31:18Speaker 1: forty six, both Lopars.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Yes, yes, so actually a third generation race car driver
- 31:24Speaker 3: with my grandfather Doug. So very cool.
- 31:27Speaker 1: So did Dad crew for you?
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yes?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Still?
- 31:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yep, he cruis from I mean he's always there.
- 31:35Speaker 1: He's running around though, he's running around the country.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Yes, he travels for work and pleasure a lot, but
- 31:42Speaker 3: you know, he's always there to support me. I think
- 31:45Speaker 3: he's missed two races in my entire life, and I'm
- 31:48Speaker 3: a wreck without him there, I'll say that. But luckily
- 31:52Speaker 3: in the late Models, I now have my crew chief, Rickpea,
- 31:54Speaker 3: who is kind of like another father figure to me
- 31:57Speaker 3: at this point. So I now am a to be
- 32:00Speaker 3: comfortable like milk bowl, you know, my dad race so
- 32:03Speaker 3: I didn't get to have him in my ear, but
- 32:04Speaker 3: having wreck there, I was totally fine because you know,
- 32:07Speaker 3: Rick's like another dad to me, so very supportive and
- 32:10Speaker 3: happy to have him there.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I have met over the last couple of years since
- 32:16Speaker 1: I started this podcast six years ago. A few drivers
- 32:23Speaker 1: who want absolutely nothing to do with even holding a wrench.
- 32:30Speaker 1: They just want to drive, that's all they know. And
- 32:33Speaker 1: others who by default have to kind of learn how
- 32:39Speaker 1: to adjust the car. Where where do you fall in
- 32:43Speaker 1: all that?
- 32:44Speaker 3: I mean, I'm very fortunate that my brother does a
- 32:47Speaker 3: lot and he's been able to learn from Rick and
- 32:50Speaker 3: you know, Charlie and so many brilliant people in the
- 32:53Speaker 3: races are in the world of racing. And I love
- 32:56Speaker 3: to work on my car. Makes me feel cool, and
- 32:58Speaker 3: you know, I'd love to just be able to see
- 33:00Speaker 3: how things work. And I was really involved in my
- 33:02Speaker 3: street stock because it was really simple and still learning
- 33:05Speaker 3: the late model, but I definitely love working on it,
- 33:08Speaker 3: and especially like you know, I have my own little
- 33:10Speaker 3: tasks that I do, and you know, everyone on our
- 33:13Speaker 3: team kind of has their own little jobs, especially once
- 33:15Speaker 3: we get to like the weekly you know, routine. But
- 33:19Speaker 3: I really enjoy working on my own stuff. I think
- 33:21Speaker 3: everyone probably, you know, like looking down South, dreams of
- 33:24Speaker 3: being able to just show up with your bag. But
- 33:27Speaker 3: I think that's not how us Northerners work. You know,
- 33:29Speaker 3: we got to work on our stuff.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, Well, set are there other drivers in
- 33:36Speaker 1: the late model division that you might quietly be thinking
- 33:45Speaker 1: about as I don't want to say a concern or
- 33:50Speaker 1: a worry, but just other drivers that you might have
- 33:54Speaker 1: in the back of your mind where when they're getting
- 33:57Speaker 1: up close to you or you're getting up close to them,
- 34:00Speaker 1: that there's some maybe some rivalry.
- 34:05Speaker 3: I mean, no one I've experienced yet, And I mean
- 34:09Speaker 3: I think that I look at that question and I say, Okay, Jason.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Gorelis is coming. He's a great driver.
- 34:17Speaker 3: He's probably gonna pass me at least where I was
- 34:19Speaker 3: last year. And I think that in my mind, I
- 34:21Speaker 3: looked at that and said, okay, let's learn from him,
- 34:24Speaker 3: watch what he does, and really try and follow him.
- 34:28Speaker 3: I don't really feel like rivalries, how do I say
- 34:33Speaker 3: this nicely, are worth my time because I don't think that,
- 34:37Speaker 3: you know, in the sports, stuff happens, and especially last year,
- 34:39Speaker 3: you know, I made mistakes and I owned up to them,
- 34:41Speaker 3: and you know, I think that just comes with racing.
- 34:45Speaker 3: But I don't think that, you know, you need to
- 34:48Speaker 3: dwell on things for too long, because you know, we're
- 34:50Speaker 3: all there to do one thing, and it's when and
- 34:52Speaker 3: I think if your head's in another space thinking about
- 34:54Speaker 3: another competitor, then it's just gonna take away from how
- 34:57Speaker 3: well or how bad you're driving.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, look at some of these young drivers, Walker Fitch,
- 35:04Speaker 1: Cayden Fisher, Yep.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, No, it's really cool. You know.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It's one of those things I look back and I
- 35:12Speaker 3: wish that maybe I started earlier just to see where
- 35:14Speaker 3: I could have gone or where I could be at
- 35:16Speaker 3: this point in my life. Yeah, obviously thankful for where
- 35:19Speaker 3: I am from where I started. But you know, Caiden
- 35:22Speaker 3: has a great resume, and you know it was one
- 35:24Speaker 3: of the kids with a great family behind him. And
- 35:27Speaker 3: same with Walker. I mean, I from what I know,
- 35:29Speaker 3: he doesn't necessarily come from a long line of racers,
- 35:32Speaker 3: but he's a really great kid in his family. I've
- 35:34Speaker 3: enjoyed watching him at White Mountain and especially thunder Road.
- 35:37Speaker 3: I think he's I think he's got some success coming
- 35:40Speaker 3: his way for sure.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I can't wait to He's been on the air a
- 35:43Speaker 1: few times here and I can't wait to happen back.
- 35:45Speaker 1: He's a good kid.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 35:48Speaker 1: We have this sixty sixth season that's kicking off Sunday,
- 35:52Speaker 1: May fourth, the twenty seventh Annual Community Bank and a
- 35:57Speaker 1: one point fifty the full scale ual thunder Road vt
- 36:02Speaker 1: dot com. But that car show is going to be amazing.
- 36:06Speaker 1: It's from nine till noon with the open practice running
- 36:10Speaker 1: until five pm. You must be so anxious to get
- 36:13Speaker 1: out on that track. Yes, it it's been a long wish.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 3: So we're gonna end up actually being at Oxford the
- 36:20Speaker 3: week before and I'm a little nervous thinking about that
- 36:25Speaker 3: week because I have finals week that week before that
- 36:29Speaker 3: opening weekend. But I'm always excited for the car show.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Get to show off our car, but also meet all
- 36:34Speaker 3: the fans and you know, even just get a chance
- 36:36Speaker 3: to catch back up with other drivers. And it's just
- 36:39Speaker 3: such a fun place to be a part of. And
- 36:41Speaker 3: I'm excited to get back at thunder Road specifically.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I just I can't. I can't imagine what you
- 36:50Speaker 1: are feeling being out on the track and it's you know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: I'm so I'm so curious to know what drives a driver,
- 37:02Speaker 1: like what, how how far do you want to take this?
- 37:07Speaker 1: What do you want? What do you what do you
- 37:08Speaker 1: aspire to do? What are you dreaming about?
- 37:12Speaker 3: I think I would love I mean I would love
- 37:14Speaker 3: to do what Tracy's done and win a championship at
- 37:17Speaker 3: thunder Road, but I think just kind of try and
- 37:20Speaker 3: do what I can and see what is given and
- 37:23Speaker 3: you know, or where life can take me. I'd love
- 37:27Speaker 3: to run the tour one day and you know, maybe
- 37:29Speaker 3: secure a championship like my dad did. But you know,
- 37:32Speaker 3: the competitors at thunder Road and the American Canadian Tour
- 37:35Speaker 3: are so strong and there's so many equal drivers that
- 37:38Speaker 3: it's not an easy task. So I give kudos to
- 37:41Speaker 3: anyone that's won championships or even one races. I would
- 37:44Speaker 3: definitely love to go win some races at thunder Road
- 37:46Speaker 3: and you know, just go do well and have fun.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I mean, just being on the track is exciting for me.
- 37:52Speaker 1: So yeah, you're going to be all over the place
- 37:56Speaker 1: this season. As we said, Oxford seaknk thunder Road an a.
- 38:03Speaker 3: C T driver now kind of not not necessarily just
- 38:09Speaker 3: I think we're going to do a few starts with
- 38:11Speaker 3: the American Canadian Tour, but again mostly a thunder Old driver.
- 38:16Speaker 3: That's because that's just where our main focus.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Is going to be.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Damn, I'm so impressed. You have a lot of fans,
- 38:25Speaker 1: have a lot of things for all of them, and
- 38:27Speaker 1: you're you You've earned it, you really have. I'm glad
- 38:31Speaker 1: that Becky has reminded me that the Vermont Motorsports expos
- 38:36Speaker 1: is this weekend, justin Saint Louis. I mean, what a
- 38:40Speaker 1: what a guy?
- 38:41Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, No, I'm excited to go there. We were
- 38:46Speaker 3: there last year, got to do a big reveal with
- 38:49Speaker 3: my car and my new sponsorship with east Rice Credit Union,
- 38:52Speaker 3: and got to talk with Tracy Uh last year. So
- 38:55Speaker 3: I'm excited for this year to show off the new
- 38:58Speaker 3: car this year, and you know, just get a chance
- 39:01Speaker 3: to reconnect with the fans and get back into the
- 39:03Speaker 3: racing mode.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're all ready for the most part. What
- 39:09Speaker 1: needs to be done?
- 39:11Speaker 3: I think we're just working on my dad's car right now.
- 39:14Speaker 3: My car is pretty ready for thunder Road and just
- 39:16Speaker 3: got to finish some vinyl up for this weekend, and
- 39:19Speaker 3: but otherwise our focus is heading towards my dad's car
- 39:21Speaker 3: and then I think the car for Oxford. So we
- 39:24Speaker 3: still have some work to do, but very excited, that's
- 39:28Speaker 3: for sure.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Year number two over at Champlain College. Yes, how's that going?
- 39:35Speaker 2: It's quite good?
- 39:36Speaker 1: Yeah, what what's the what's the major business. Okay, that's
- 39:43Speaker 1: that's that's pretty remarkable that you're able to to do
- 39:48Speaker 1: all of this. I understand you're twenty two, you're driven,
- 39:52Speaker 1: you're motivated, you got all that, but that's still that's
- 39:56Speaker 1: still a lot.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it's definitely a lot.
- 39:59Speaker 3: And I am not the biggest fan of school, but
- 40:02Speaker 3: stay in school kids, and but you know, I think
- 40:07Speaker 3: it pushes me to keep going with what I'm doing,
- 40:10Speaker 3: just because you know, I think I just look forward
- 40:12Speaker 3: to race season and I say, you know, because I
- 40:14Speaker 3: have finals week that week before opening weekend of thunder Road.
- 40:17Speaker 3: So I'm like, I just got to get through and
- 40:18Speaker 3: then I'm in race mode, and you know, so I
- 40:22Speaker 3: just try and get through. And I definitely like to
- 40:24Speaker 3: focus on racing a little bit more, but have to
- 40:26Speaker 3: remember that the real world is still very real and got.
- 40:29Speaker 2: To get through my schooling. Are you working to part time?
- 40:32Speaker 3: I coached gymnastics here and there, and I over the
- 40:36Speaker 3: summer started working for my father. I got stage, but
- 40:40Speaker 3: only could really do that on my school breaks, But
- 40:43Speaker 3: excited to get back into that for this summer.
- 40:46Speaker 1: What other kind of racing, if any, do you pay
- 40:52Speaker 1: attention to anything with a with a carburetor.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I definitely watch all the NASCAR races
- 40:59Speaker 3: or pay attention to them. I've started getting in getting
- 41:02Speaker 3: into F one and the Indie Next Series too, since
- 41:05Speaker 3: Haley Degan has stepped into that just to kind of
- 41:08Speaker 3: expand her roles, and I've been excuse me, I've been
- 41:13Speaker 3: interested in watching her in the Indie Next Series because
- 41:15Speaker 3: I haven't really ever been into that type of racing,
- 41:17Speaker 3: so I have fun watching that, but very much racecar oriented.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you ever you ever pay any attention to to
- 41:26Speaker 1: rally at all?
- 41:27Speaker 3: Yeah, A little bit here and there. I've been in
- 41:30Speaker 3: connection with Connor Martel from Vermont sports Cars, so it's
- 41:34Speaker 3: been fun to follow him along and he's been pretty
- 41:37Speaker 3: supportive of my career, so it's been a kind of
- 41:41Speaker 3: fun little circle, especially just from such a big team
- 41:43Speaker 3: here in Vermont.
- 41:44Speaker 2: So oh yeah, god.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Man, that's that's so Connor something.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Yes, very good.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I love that sport so much. Motorcycle really, okay, that's
- 42:01Speaker 1: probably seriously very happy to hear that, you say, not really, Yes.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Well, my grandfather had always said I and I could
- 42:09Speaker 3: be messing this up. He had always said, if you
- 42:11Speaker 3: showed up on a motorcycle to his house that you'd
- 42:14Speaker 3: be written out of the will. So it was just
- 42:17Speaker 3: like a I've just not shown interest, but also just like,
- 42:21Speaker 3: I mean, he's got a good reason because they can
- 42:23Speaker 3: be very dangerous, but I'll stick to my role.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Caage Race Wow.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Wow. Let's throw some some love at some of your
- 42:33Speaker 1: sponsors here. Obviously first on the list. Here is a
- 42:38Speaker 1: Coviki Driver Development Program yep. Yeah, Cotton Candy Connection Yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 1: Brown's River Maple Yeah, Regal Gymnastics.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Where's that out of Essex Junction? Vermont?
- 42:52Speaker 1: Okay? What is it? Twelve twelve twenty Auto yep? Okay?
- 42:59Speaker 1: And Fix yep. Do they do your car?
- 43:02Speaker 2: Yes? Yep. Brandon Tinker is awesome.
- 43:05Speaker 1: The plants, plumbing and heating, gost Dodge, east Rise Credit Union.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yes ye wow Yeah.
- 43:13Speaker 3: East Ries hopped on last year as my primary sponsor
- 43:16Speaker 3: and has been very amazing to me and signed on
- 43:20Speaker 3: for this year as well, and definitely one of the
- 43:23Speaker 3: best sponsors you could ask for. They're very supportive of
- 43:25Speaker 3: me and you know, had me be in all their
- 43:27Speaker 3: new commercials and ads, so makes me feel pretty famous
- 43:31Speaker 3: when I see myself on TV. But just very thankful
- 43:35Speaker 3: for them and the opportunity they've given me.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I love this time of year. I love approaching April
- 43:43Speaker 1: when I'm able to chat with a few drivers before
- 43:48Speaker 1: the real chaos kicks in. And I always get this
- 43:54Speaker 1: time of year people that have survived the winter and
- 43:58Speaker 1: love thunder road and they're like, you got to get
- 44:01Speaker 1: this driver on, you got to get that driver on.
- 44:06Speaker 1: But I had a lot of people saying you got
- 44:08Speaker 1: to get Taylor warn on. It was a couple of
- 44:12Speaker 1: years ago that you were here. Tell us about your boyfriend,
- 44:16Speaker 1: because I think he was with you last time you
- 44:18Speaker 1: were in the air with me.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I was here with Shae Wheeler.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Actually yep, yep, he and then Tanner came at a
- 44:24Speaker 3: different time. He was here where they believe his sister
- 44:26Speaker 3: and dad. But okay, yes, it's quite the dynamic to
- 44:31Speaker 3: race against him.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't we imagine.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we don't race like we've only raced
- 44:39Speaker 3: against each other a few times because he's done different
- 44:42Speaker 3: things than I have, so works out in that way.
- 44:45Speaker 1: But was there a fight afterwards?
- 44:48Speaker 3: I've I mean no, I mean we've started near each
- 44:52Speaker 3: other and I've made some rookie mistakes but nothing intentional.
- 44:59Speaker 1: And Becky's saying that you're you're also involved with Race
- 45:04Speaker 1: to Read, which I forgot about, and I'm I'm so
- 45:06Speaker 1: glad that and Hillary is Hillary Scott's incredible.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's such a great program and it's just so
- 45:14Speaker 3: fun to be a part of and get to meet
- 45:16Speaker 3: the kids each week, and especially when we get to
- 45:18Speaker 3: go to the schools. It's really fun to you know,
- 45:20Speaker 3: kind of bring a little bit of fun to reading
- 45:23Speaker 3: because I think a lot of kids don't enjoy reading,
- 45:26Speaker 3: but also just you know, bringing race cars into it,
- 45:28Speaker 3: I feel like is a great way to trick them
- 45:30Speaker 3: into it. So but it's really fun and inspiring to
- 45:33Speaker 3: get to meet the kids and just see how excited
- 45:34Speaker 3: they are because they look at us like we're NASCAR driver.
- 45:37Speaker 3: So it's really cool to know that, you know, they
- 45:40Speaker 3: look up to us like that.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Who is your NASCAR driver? Who's who's your favorite?
- 45:45Speaker 3: I feel like I would be silly to not choose
- 45:48Speaker 3: Kyle Larson. I think he's just not necessarily not just
- 45:52Speaker 3: in Nascar, but he's just such a great driver and
- 45:54Speaker 3: anything that he hops in, and I think that versatility
- 45:57Speaker 3: within himself is pretty impressive.
- 46:02Speaker 1: What's that that one race in twenty twenty five that
- 46:10Speaker 1: you just gotta win. And Stephen Donahue is going to
- 46:13Speaker 1: be coming in here by the way on the ninth,
- 46:17Speaker 1: and I'm going to ask him the same question. It
- 46:19Speaker 1: was the Milk Bowl for him, right, well, what is
- 46:22Speaker 1: it for you?
- 46:24Speaker 2: Anything? Any race?
- 46:27Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, I think anyone would look at any
- 46:30Speaker 3: of the ACT races and say that'd be cool to win.
- 46:32Speaker 3: But I would be more than happy to win a
- 46:36Speaker 3: thunder Road points race or weekly race. So anything I
- 46:39Speaker 3: can get, any good finishes I can grab them, I'm
- 46:42Speaker 3: gonna be happy with it.
- 46:44Speaker 1: It is really, and I mean this sincerely, a real
- 46:49Speaker 1: honor for me to sit down with you this morning
- 46:54Speaker 1: and chat with you. I mean, I say this and
- 46:59Speaker 1: I know it's it's going to be very difficult, but
- 47:02Speaker 1: I still I would love to say this right now.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I would love to have you back mid mid season
- 47:11Speaker 1: if you're able to. Of course, I know you're going
- 47:14Speaker 1: to be crazy busy, but man, it would be great
- 47:16Speaker 1: to chat with you mid season, you know, somewhere around there.
- 47:20Speaker 1: If you can come back, that would be so cool.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Definitely time for that, all right.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I'm going to hold you up to that you said.
- 47:26Speaker 2: It all right, Thanks Taylor, thank you.
- 47:30Speaker 1: And you know, I know it's it's kind of cliche
- 47:34Speaker 1: to say good luck, but man, I just wish the
- 47:38Speaker 1: best for you this coming season.
- 47:40Speaker 2: I appreciate that.
- 47:41Speaker 1: And thanks to to Dave Moody for sending us a
- 47:43Speaker 1: quote this morning, and Tracy bell Rose hopping on with
- 47:47Speaker 1: you a little surprise.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Yes, thanks Tailing, Thank you all right, Sha
