Latest / DEEP INSIGHT / Iran issues STUNNING demands amid Hormuz showdown
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Ron is seeing they're crumbling. Yesterday, the radical Islamic regime
- 0:04Speaker 1: issued some absurd demands to reopen the Strait of Wour
- 0:07Speaker 1: moves again. They need money, they need that oil moving.
- 0:10Speaker 1: The US must never threaten Iran again. That's on their
- 0:14Speaker 1: list of demands, and the port blockade. Pull all military
- 0:19Speaker 1: assets from the Middle East, all not even just like
- 0:22Speaker 1: anybody near them, Lift all sanctions, unfreeze all Iranian assets
- 0:29Speaker 1: so they can build a nuclear weapon even faster. They
- 0:32Speaker 1: also want the US to pay for all war damages.
- 0:36Speaker 1: That's not going to happen.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Completely unreasonable, and they really show that the IRGC is
- 0:45Speaker 2: out of options. Let's remember we have extremely good overwatch
- 0:49Speaker 2: of that area and we have ended Iran's ability to
- 0:53Speaker 2: enrich and that path to a nuclear weapon.
- 0:57Speaker 1: My Commanuel is at the White House today, Mike.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Harris, President Trump telling Axios he's planning to wait to
- 1:04Speaker 3: allow economic pressure to build. The President saying, quote, we
- 1:07Speaker 3: are low keying it. We are only semi negotiating with them.
- 1:11Speaker 3: We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and
- 1:14Speaker 3: the fact they have no money. Vice President jad Vance
- 1:17Speaker 3: over the weekend signal there is no short term timeline.
- 1:21Speaker 3: The administration suggesting this isn't going to end anytime soon.
- 1:27Speaker 4: We're really in the middle of the game here. This
- 1:29Speaker 4: thing is not over. It's obviously not at the beginning.
- 1:32Speaker 4: We're in the middle of the game, and we're applying
- 1:34Speaker 4: a whole host of tools, diplomatic, economic, military tools to
- 1:38Speaker 4: ensure that we get the best outcome for the American people.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I feel quite confident we will get there, but we're
- 1:43Speaker 4: still a bit in the middle of the game.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Fellow Republicans support economic pressure, hoping to cause the Iranian
- 1:50Speaker 3: regime to cave.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Secretary Beston and the team of Treasury have put incredible
- 1:56Speaker 5: financial pressure on Iran. Their economy is in tatters right now.
- 2:00Speaker 5: They're doing the same thing over and over again. I
- 2:02Speaker 5: know people call that the definition of insanity. I think
- 2:04Speaker 5: that's diplomacy, Iranian style.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Democrats note the American people are paying a price for
- 2:10Speaker 3: this conflict.
- 2:15Speaker 6: Everyday Americans. We can see the very large gap between
- 2:20Speaker 6: what Donald Trump says and what Donald Trump does. And
- 2:24Speaker 6: so Donald Trump may be saying that oil companies are
- 2:27Speaker 6: making too much money, but what Donald Trump is doing
- 2:31Speaker 6: is starting a reckless war in Iran.
- 2:34Speaker 3: With eighty five days to those midterm elections. Many Republicans
- 2:38Speaker 3: would like to see it wrap up.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Harris Mike, thank you very much. I want to bring
- 2:43Speaker 1: in James Carafano, retired to Army lieutenant colonel and now
- 2:47Speaker 1: senior counselor to the Heritage Foundation's President. Great to see
- 2:50Speaker 1: you today. Look, we are kind of in that pattern
- 2:53Speaker 1: now where we see money talks. Talk to me about
- 2:56Speaker 1: what's happening that we can tell insider on.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Well.
- 3:00Speaker 7: One of the things I like about the president is
- 3:04Speaker 7: you fight with what's called all the elements of national power, diplomacy,
- 3:07Speaker 7: economic power, and military power. And a leader is like
- 3:10Speaker 7: a painter. You put that palette together to get the
- 3:13Speaker 7: best mix of results. What the administration is seen is
- 3:15Speaker 7: the economic force is almost overwhelming. So zero exports. That
- 3:21Speaker 7: means they're not exporting any oil that is the mainstream
- 3:24Speaker 7: of their economy. There are very few sources of there
- 3:28Speaker 7: are no sources really have kind of lawful trade and
- 3:30Speaker 7: traffic into that country. So inflation and the numbers I
- 3:34Speaker 7: saw this morning were an eighty year high. So the
- 3:37Speaker 7: money of the Iranian government is almost worthless. And remember
- 3:41Speaker 7: the money fueled the ability to control the society enough
- 3:45Speaker 7: for the people say, don't starve to death, but pay
- 3:47Speaker 7: off the IRGC, pay off the corrupt people, pay off
- 3:50Speaker 7: the surrogates. All that's kind of dried up now, and
- 3:53Speaker 7: so it's literally the force and the bayonet. It's the
- 3:56Speaker 7: only thing that's The difference between starvation and political hate
- 4:01Speaker 7: is overwhelming in this very, very fragile situation that they're in.
- 4:05Speaker 1: You know, the American public showed a little bit more
- 4:09Speaker 1: support of the war than they do right now. And
- 4:11Speaker 1: we are not necessarily seeing mission creep, because that's the
- 4:14Speaker 1: one thing that can kind of go, oh, we're going
- 4:16Speaker 1: to change our mission and it's about this now and
- 4:18Speaker 1: not that. But we are seeing an expanse of time.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Your thought on that.
- 4:23Speaker 7: Yeah, So let's talk about the politics of it. From
- 4:26Speaker 7: the president's point of view, it's very clear the administration
- 4:29Speaker 7: has discounted the political impact of the war, which means
- 4:33Speaker 7: that they're not crafting a strategy that's designed to impact
- 4:37Speaker 7: the midterms. They're willing to let whatever the midterms be
- 4:41Speaker 7: be the midterms, and they are playing the long creame.
- 4:43Speaker 7: So the politics is that in twenty twenty eight people
- 4:45Speaker 7: will look back and say this is a good deal,
- 4:47Speaker 7: and they're not worried about that. That gives a lot
- 4:49Speaker 7: more flexibility in terms of how they address this conflict.
- 4:52Speaker 7: And you're absolutely right. As long as we don't escalate
- 4:55Speaker 7: the hell out of this or mission creep in their stupidity,
- 4:58Speaker 7: the American people are going to vote, honestly, they're going
- 5:00Speaker 7: to vote on other stuff, not on the war, and
- 5:03Speaker 7: talk to.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Me about our mission readiness there. Now, you've had people
- 5:07Speaker 1: in the Gulf kind of on pause, and then we
- 5:10Speaker 1: leave a ceasefire, we go back to war. We leave
- 5:11Speaker 1: a ceasefire, we go back to war.
- 5:13Speaker 7: Right, Well, here's kind of the good news. You know,
- 5:17Speaker 7: when you every time you take a pause, you can replenish,
- 5:21Speaker 7: you have more time to build out your arsenals. It
- 5:24Speaker 7: lowers the stress level on the troops that are deployed
- 5:26Speaker 7: in the region. We do have assets to rotate through
- 5:30Speaker 7: the region. So it actually does help your operational readiness
- 5:33Speaker 7: to take operational pauses. From that perspective, and the key
- 5:36Speaker 7: thing is take an operational pause and what can the
- 5:39Speaker 7: enemy to take advantage of that? And if the anther
- 5:41Speaker 7: is nothing, that's super cool.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah, And so the argument might be what the enemy
- 5:45Speaker 1: can do is talk to China and Russia and get
- 5:49Speaker 1: some help in that way your thought on that.
- 5:52Speaker 7: So essentially, you know they're getting the Russians can't really
- 5:55Speaker 7: do much. The Chinese are really not going to stick
- 5:57Speaker 7: their neck out for these guys, so they get what
- 5:59Speaker 7: they get, which is very modest. If it was useful
- 6:03Speaker 7: and important, they'd be winning and not losing. You know,
- 6:06Speaker 7: they say this stuff. I think a lot of it's
- 6:08Speaker 7: for domestic consumption to people, look how strong and powerful
- 6:11Speaker 7: we still are. Some of it maybe the Hail Mary pass,
- 6:14Speaker 7: Maybe the Democrats will come to our safe you know,
- 6:16Speaker 7: maybe somebody will force us. But as long as Trump,
- 6:19Speaker 7: you know, keeps us cool, that that impact is zero.
- 6:22Speaker 7: So they're playing cards, you know, when Trump's got fifty
- 6:26Speaker 7: two cards of the deck and they've got like three.
- 6:29Speaker 1: All right, well, there you go, and we will cover
- 6:31Speaker 1: it as it happens. As the president now is counting
- 6:34Speaker 1: on the economy, the failing economy, and which you said
- 6:37Speaker 1: was such a big deal. The inflation rate at an
- 6:39Speaker 1: eighty year high. Inside Iran, we pray for the people
- 6:42Speaker 1: on the ground, they're the citizens. Good to see you,
- 6:44Speaker 1: Thank you outnumbered. After this break, be sure to like
