- 0:31Speaker 3: Touchdown Kyle Williams touchdound amazing, unbelievable. They puttied william who's
- 0:54Speaker 3: has to full back and he scores a touchdown. It's
- 0:58Speaker 3: wealthier to face tackle.

- 1:43Speaker 1: pro two underscores A n T. In this episode, of
- 1:47Speaker 1: disguised coverage. We continue our departure from our regularly scheduled
- 1:53Speaker 1: content and episode structure and dive into another post Buffalo
- 1:58Speaker 1: Bill's Hard Knocks Show edition episode. Yeah, you know, Hard
- 2:04Speaker 1: Knocks being the season that I don't know why I
- 2:08Speaker 1: blink right there, featuring the Buffalo Bills this offseason, which
- 2:12Speaker 1: is pretty cool and a rarity and something to be acknowledged.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And it also going live every Tuesday night at nine o'clock,
- 2:19Speaker 1: right when this show normally goes live. Figure, we'll keep
- 2:23Speaker 1: on keeping on at least, you know, for the rest
- 2:25Speaker 1: of potentially the preseason. We'll see what happens next week
- 2:27Speaker 1: as the roster gets finalized. I have a special bonus
- 2:30Speaker 1: and or regular episode coming next week towards the back
- 2:34Speaker 1: end of the week with a special guest that I'm
- 2:35Speaker 1: very excited to drop.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But that's all in the future and going forward, I.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Will be doing the postgame show again this upcoming week
- 2:44Speaker 1: following the Bills Week three preseason game, just like we
- 2:47Speaker 1: did for Week one in week two. But again that's
- 2:49Speaker 1: all in the future. This episode, let's dive into this
- 2:53Speaker 1: Hard Knocks episode, and r J already here in the comments.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Also you know. Actually, I'll bring that comment back up.
- 2:58Speaker 1: In a minute, as we did when we did the
- 3:00Speaker 1: post show for the first Hard Knocks episode. Didn't do
- 3:03Speaker 1: it last week, had some scheduling complications. But everybody joining
- 3:07Speaker 1: here live questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, likes, dislikes, anything and
- 3:11Speaker 1: everything you got. It could be about the episode or
- 3:14Speaker 1: not about the episode, Bills related, whatever have you. Feel
- 3:16Speaker 1: free to put it up into the chat, especially for
- 3:20Speaker 1: episodes like this that are kind of more fandom based. Yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 1: as much engagement as we can and interaction with one
- 3:27Speaker 1: another that it'd be super cool for those of you
- 3:28Speaker 1: who are still awake and dive into this, so I
- 3:31Speaker 1: wanted to put that out there as we did for
- 3:33Speaker 1: the first episode. But going with this comment early on
- 3:35Speaker 1: from RJ saying, by far my favorite episode yet, it
- 3:38Speaker 1: was nice to finally see some dudes that Bills fans
- 3:40Speaker 1: don't know a ton about, I will echo especially the
- 3:45Speaker 1: first sentiment of this from you, RJ. I thought this
- 3:49Speaker 1: was by far my favorite episode as well. I thought
- 3:51Speaker 1: the first two episodes, and we talked about it after
- 3:54Speaker 1: the first episode, but I thought the first two were
- 3:57Speaker 1: really dry and kind of boring, even as a Bill
- 4:00Speaker 1: like after the second one, I was just kind of like, mah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know, as I mentioned, like, I didn't get to
- 4:05Speaker 1: do the episode last week because I had some scheduling complications,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and like watching it, I was kind of glad I
- 4:10Speaker 1: didn't because there wasn't really much to talk about.
- 4:12Speaker 2: It was kind of boring. First episode.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I gave it a pass because you know, I was thinking, Okay,
- 4:17Speaker 1: they're kind of setting the baseline for the team, the season,
- 4:20Speaker 1: the fans, so.
- 4:21Speaker 2: On and so forth.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But then the second episode was really much to do
- 4:25Speaker 1: about nothing, and so I didn't know what to spec
- 4:27Speaker 1: expect to come in Uh oh my god, falling apart.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Probably because we're starting at ten, I didn't know what
- 4:31Speaker 1: to expect coming into this episode of Hard Knocks, But yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I liked it. I like to peak behind the scenes
- 4:38Speaker 1: in a multitude of ways. The joint practice pieces, some
- 4:41Speaker 1: of Sean McDermott stuff which were going to talk about
- 4:43Speaker 1: in this episode. I really like the Connor McGovern pizza
- 4:46Speaker 1: party stuff, which we're going to talk about I've been
- 4:48Speaker 1: waiting for. I really thought that that was gonna be
- 4:50Speaker 1: something they talked about as soon as I knew Hard
- 4:53Speaker 1: Knocks was announced or.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'd heard Hard Knocks was announced.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I went back to when Eric and I had Connor
- 4:59Speaker 1: McGovern in the film room. He talked about the pizza
- 5:01Speaker 1: party stuff and I was like, there, God, they have
- 5:04Speaker 1: to show that at Hard knockuse there's no way that
- 5:06Speaker 1: doesn't make it. I'm surprised it took it till episode three,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but I thought that was awesome. As James says, the
- 5:11Speaker 1: bibitty Bibity Boby, Yeah, I loved the improv stuff with
- 5:15Speaker 1: the dude in Chicago. I thought that exercise was fun
- 5:17Speaker 1: and cool, and I found myself trying to follow along
- 5:21Speaker 1: with the rules.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I thought it was I thought.
- 5:22Speaker 1: The meaning behind it was neat and that kind of
- 5:25Speaker 1: put it over the top rate. But even just from
- 5:26Speaker 1: an entertainment perspective, I thought that was cool. Yeah, this episode,
- 5:30Speaker 1: this episode was a good one, especially especially in comparison
- 5:34Speaker 1: to the first two. This episode was a real good one.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Gordon comes in and says, I love some Ty Johnson. Yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 1: it was cool to see Ty Johnson riding.
- 5:41Speaker 2: A horse with Ed Oliver.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm also surprised it took intil episode three for them
- 5:45Speaker 1: to do horse related things with Ed Oliver. We've known
- 5:48Speaker 1: this for a while, you know, or I guess maybe
- 5:51Speaker 1: it's not.
- 5:51Speaker 3: No.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I thought it was known nationally because when he was
- 5:54Speaker 1: riding the horse on the street a couple of years ago,
- 5:56Speaker 1: that got shown on a bunch of like NFL Network
- 5:59Speaker 1: and ESPN, and it got covered on social So I'm
- 6:01Speaker 1: surprised it took until episode.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Three to get into that.
- 6:04Speaker 1: But again to teach their own uh with that, James saying,
- 6:09Speaker 1: ankleing off structure, yet staying off structure a little bit
- 6:11Speaker 1: and keep going with this.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Uh uh, you know, post Hard Knocks flow.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We'll see what happens next week as the preseason ramp
- 6:17Speaker 1: that you know finishes, then we're starting to get into
- 6:20Speaker 1: real football type of stuff in terms of roster projection
- 6:22Speaker 1: and everything that'll come forward.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm gonna do the show Tuesday
- 6:25Speaker 2: night next week.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I don't know if it's gonna be a post Hard
- 6:27Speaker 1: Knocks episode. I don't know if it's gonna be a
- 6:29Speaker 1: regular episode. I don't know if I'm just gonna do
- 6:30Speaker 1: the something back end of the week. We'll kind of
- 6:32Speaker 1: see what happens. Eric saying, after this episode, I do
- 6:36Speaker 1: believe McGovern is resigning with US. If not before the season,
- 6:39Speaker 1: before the season, then shortly thereafter, I'm worried about retaining
- 6:43Speaker 1: him and or David Edwards. I know Edwards isn't a
- 6:46Speaker 1: big uh, you know side resigning for some but I
- 6:49Speaker 1: think Edwards is a valuable member of the team. I
- 6:50Speaker 1: don't really want to change much on the old line. McGovern,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I think is a bigger priority. I think it's fair,
- 6:55Speaker 1: fair assessment. He's a I think he's a real He's
- 6:57Speaker 1: an important piece in general because of what he does
- 6:59Speaker 1: from a priest now perspective, how his skill set and
- 7:01Speaker 1: his frame and length fits into.
- 7:05Speaker 2: How the offensive line performs and what they do.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But then from like a glue guy perspective, yeah, just
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know, his home and family and him kind of
- 7:14Speaker 1: being a central cog and bringing a lot of the
- 7:16Speaker 1: team together. I don't think you pay guys just for that,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but it is something that I think weighs in come
- 7:24Speaker 1: contract time in terms of not just a guy who
- 7:26Speaker 1: performs on the field, but somebody who's an important fabric
- 7:28Speaker 1: or piece of the culture or the atmosphere or the
- 7:31Speaker 1: ecosystem that you've created. From an off the field perspective,
- 7:35Speaker 1: in addition to on the field, I think This is
- 7:37Speaker 1: a fair point, Ryan say Ryan Saye is Jimmy Charlow.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I think we need to start talking about starting to flash. Yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I think he's had some flashes. He had some nice,
- 7:46Speaker 1: like actual defensive flashes against the Giants. Had that really
- 7:49Speaker 1: nice special teams tackle that they highlighted in this episode
- 7:51Speaker 1: against the Giants.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I think it's a real long shot for him to make.
- 7:54Speaker 1: The squad as a linebacker, but we know this team
- 7:58Speaker 1: values special team and he's had several standout moments from
- 8:03Speaker 1: you know, a camp perspective and from an in game
- 8:06Speaker 1: pre season perspective. He's got the leadership aspect and you know,
- 8:10Speaker 1: being an army guy, things that McDermott and co. Will
- 8:13Speaker 1: probably gravitate towards a bit. From a personality and culture
- 8:15Speaker 1: fit perspective, I think he could be one of those
- 8:19Speaker 1: guys who makes the squad as a special teamer, especially
- 8:22Speaker 1: if he continues to flash in special teams.
- 8:24Speaker 2: But we'll see. Ryan sand also Sean Sure in the
- 8:28Speaker 2: improv he had some pop showing a little personality Sean. Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 2: And there's the A plus comment from Josh Say that
- 8:34Speaker 2: Sean Sean shops at Dan flashes trumentall what Tim what's
- 8:40Speaker 2: Tim Robinson show? This is where I leave you? Right?
- 8:43Speaker 1: I always taget the actual name of it and just know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: like I jumped to it as soon as new episodes
- 8:48Speaker 1: come out on Netflix.
- 8:49Speaker 2: But yeah, that's a good call. Seawn does shop Dan
- 8:52Speaker 2: Flash deal.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I like that Dan Flashes times an NFL partnership that
- 8:57Speaker 1: will be super fire. I agree, I should get them. Ah,
- 8:59Speaker 1: they you should leave, thank you, thank you. Josh Anheim
- 9:02Speaker 1: coming through.
- 9:03Speaker 2: What did I say?
- 9:04Speaker 1: This is where I leave you? That's not a thing?
- 9:05Speaker 1: Is that that's something else? That's a movie, that's a show.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Is that what I said? I don't even know. I'm
- 9:10Speaker 1: falling apart, But yeah, fantastic show. I should get Dan
- 9:13Speaker 1: Flashes to sponsor this show.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Oh that can just wear ridiculous shirts. That would be
- 9:17Speaker 2: a good time.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Well, and then Gordon saying, yeah, next week will be
- 9:20Speaker 1: cut night, busy day, busy. Yeah, it will be uh
- 9:23Speaker 1: next week at this time, the roster will be finalized.
- 9:25Speaker 1: We're gonna get you know who's getting put in the
- 9:27Speaker 1: parking lot and brought back later? Who are we permanently
- 9:29Speaker 1: saying goodbye to Yeah, next week will be Yeah, I
- 9:33Speaker 1: might have to do a regular show.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Regardless Tuesday, Well, keep.
- 9:36Speaker 1: An eye on that, stay tuned to the channel, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: James saying west Point grad. Yeah, mister Jimmy, Jimmy Charlow
- 9:43Speaker 1: is a west Point grad. They're calling him army, they're
- 9:47Speaker 1: calling him west Point yeah, nickname things. But you know,
- 9:50Speaker 1: mcdermoy probably likes that pedigree, gravitates towards that type of
- 9:53Speaker 1: attitude and leadership and the type of guy that Charloe is.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Type of guy McDermott is what he likes.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I can see him, you know again, gravity towards him
- 10:01Speaker 1: and him potentially making some moves on the roster. So
- 10:05Speaker 1: let's kind of start through this episode. Josh as Gabe
- 10:10Speaker 1: Davis coming in for his episode four cameo. That'd be funny.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Sal says, trading for a safety. Safety is wonky with
- 10:17Speaker 1: this team. They want to give it to col Bishop.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I think if you trade for a safety, you're not
- 10:23Speaker 1: necessarily putting a nail on the coffin for Cold Bishop.
- 10:25Speaker 2: But that's a huge hindrance to his development.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So you're kind of almost permanently or semi permanently putting
- 10:31Speaker 1: him on the back burner. I still think they're just
- 10:33Speaker 1: trying to light a fire under Bishop, and they want
- 10:35Speaker 1: Bishop to.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Be the guy.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I also don't think he's at a bad preseason or
- 10:39Speaker 1: bad camp. He's just been unavailable again with injury, which
- 10:43Speaker 1: is a significant part of this competition, and the best
- 10:45Speaker 1: ability is availability. So if you can't be on the field,
- 10:48Speaker 1: then not great, not great, not great. Let's start off
- 10:53Speaker 1: kind of just from the beginning, I thought, I thought
- 10:57Speaker 1: it was very ironic that Sean mcdermy opened up with
- 11:00Speaker 1: the whole well, the episode opened up with the hunger
- 11:02Speaker 1: aspect of McDermott talking to the team after the Giants game,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and then throughout the episode we got lines of you know,
- 11:08Speaker 1: from different coaches, McDermott, Babbage, different pieces, but the you know,
- 11:12Speaker 1: even Brady to a degree, comments on aggression, playing through
- 11:16Speaker 1: the whistle, you know, the energy, the physicality, the nasty,
- 11:20Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. And then all of that
- 11:23Speaker 1: to lead into the week where they played the Bears
- 11:25Speaker 1: and just looked lifeless on the field and got waxed,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and you know what, thirty eight nothing just again, I
- 11:33Speaker 1: don't want to call it an embarrassment because it's preseason,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but just a poor performance all around. The offense just
- 11:41Speaker 1: really had nothing in the entirety of the game. The
- 11:43Speaker 1: defense got worked a bunch. Yes, the Bears did play
- 11:45Speaker 1: their starters, but even when it was twos against twos,
- 11:47Speaker 1: threes against threes, it seemed like the game was always
- 11:50Speaker 1: in hand for the Bears. And again, like we talked
- 11:52Speaker 1: about in the postgame episode after that preseason game, I
- 11:55Speaker 1: think the Bears were operating with a little more intention
- 11:58Speaker 1: in that game. This is a new coaching staff trying
- 12:01Speaker 1: to implement regimen and routine and operating rhythms and styles
- 12:05Speaker 1: and scheme and structure and responsibility and assignment.
- 12:07Speaker 2: So I do think there.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Is more purpose and more intention to what they're doing
- 12:11Speaker 1: in the preseason to try and instill what they want
- 12:15Speaker 1: in these players, because this is this coaching staff's first
- 12:18Speaker 1: real game action in their first gear, and they're trying
- 12:22Speaker 1: to cement and solidify themselves in addition to the depth.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Chart and the roster.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So, you know, not necessarily apples to apples when it
- 12:29Speaker 1: came to that second preseason game, but it was funny
- 12:31Speaker 1: just all the comments to have this episode of hunger
- 12:33Speaker 1: and aggression and this and that, and then for the
- 12:35Speaker 1: Bills of kind of just lay an egg. After all that,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I found ironic but also painful, Like seeing the Joe
- 12:40Speaker 1: Brady piece kind of the intention of you know, making
- 12:43Speaker 1: sure you help guys off the ground, highlighting you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: hustle and plays downfield, but again just playing through the
- 12:49Speaker 1: whistle on the offensive side of the ball, and part
- 12:51Speaker 1: of that being if you're near a guy on the ground,
- 12:52Speaker 1: help him up, bring him up. You know, he was
- 12:53Speaker 1: highlighting vand of Mark and I think Keyan Coleman for
- 12:56Speaker 1: helping somebody off the ground on tape, you know, So
- 12:59Speaker 1: seeing that those little peaks behind the curtain that we
- 13:01Speaker 1: continue to see, that's the whole benefit of hard knocks, right,
- 13:03Speaker 1: Getting to see those peaks in the film room, in
- 13:06Speaker 1: the practice room, in the meet or on the practice field,
- 13:09Speaker 1: in the meeting rooms, the interactions, all those different little
- 13:12Speaker 1: nuggets and pieces.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I thought that was interesting to see.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Kind of not necessarily interesting, but that little peak of
- 13:18Speaker 1: again Joe Brady's philosophy.
- 13:21Speaker 2: When it comes to this offense.
- 13:22Speaker 1: We've heard the everybody Eats mantra for a couple of seasons,
- 13:24Speaker 1: but again another one that kind of fits into that
- 13:26Speaker 1: nature of selflessness is, you know, playing through the whistle,
- 13:29Speaker 1: helping guys up off the ground. Bobby Babbage gets shown
- 13:33Speaker 1: right after Joe Brady and his exact words, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 1: referencing quote, got to work, aggression, effort, effort, effort, And
- 13:42Speaker 1: then I thought it was interesting him saying, this is
- 13:44Speaker 1: exact quote, Josh Allen needs to be out on the
- 13:47Speaker 1: field after three plays or in less than three plays,
- 13:51Speaker 1: that obviously referencing the defense wants offenses, opposing offenses to
- 13:55Speaker 1: go three and out or they're trying to take the
- 13:57Speaker 1: ball away to give it right back to Josh Allen
- 13:59Speaker 1: in the offense, which ties into his quote that I
- 14:04Speaker 1: led with there for Bobby Babbage in terms of gotta work,
- 14:06Speaker 1: aggression and just what they've been defensively and what Sean
- 14:11Speaker 1: McDermott has mentioned. He even mentioned it later in the episode,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but you know, the physicality, the nastiness, playing fast. I
- 14:17Speaker 1: think this ties into what this defense is which last year,
- 14:23Speaker 1: as much as the struggles in the playoffs happened again
- 14:26Speaker 1: and the metrics that were not kind of the Bills
- 14:28Speaker 1: in the regular season, which I've gone about in detail,
- 14:31Speaker 1: this was a defense that was all about trying to
- 14:33Speaker 1: create havoc plays and takeaways. They were trying to create
- 14:35Speaker 1: a tackle for a loss or a negative play or
- 14:38Speaker 1: a turnover to get the ball back to the offense.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And if they didn't generate those things, the ball was
- 14:44Speaker 1: probably getting driven down the field and they were either
- 14:46Speaker 1: giving up.
- 14:46Speaker 2: A touchdown or a fieldal.
- 14:47Speaker 1: They didn't force a lot of punts, they didn't force
- 14:49Speaker 1: a lot of three and out, So I think it's
- 14:50Speaker 1: interesting that the takeaway mantra is still there, but now
- 14:54Speaker 1: they're kind of tying it into three and out perspective
- 14:57Speaker 1: and trying to get some stops and just anything that
- 14:59Speaker 1: they can do to get the ball back to the offense.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Again makes sense. You've got the current reigning and defending
- 15:04Speaker 1: league MVP, you've got a good structural, schematically sound offense,
- 15:10Speaker 1: good offensive line, good offensive coordinator who ties in with
- 15:14Speaker 1: a good offensive line coach, and how everything kind of
- 15:16Speaker 1: gels into one, it makes sense you want to get
- 15:19Speaker 1: the ball back asap and in their hands and just
- 15:21Speaker 1: keep it away from the opponents and their offenses. But
- 15:23Speaker 1: hearing that specifically them kind of preached that. Again, we
- 15:25Speaker 1: didn't have hard knocks last year for full loud car outside,
- 15:29Speaker 1: so for all we know, this could have been the
- 15:30Speaker 1: mantra that they preached last offseason, but specifically tying into
- 15:35Speaker 1: the three and out piece. I thought that was interesting
- 15:36Speaker 1: from Babiche Again, Josh Allen needs to be out on
- 15:38Speaker 1: the field after three plays or in less than three plays,
- 15:41Speaker 1: so they're trying to force it three and out or
- 15:43Speaker 1: take the ball away on first down or second down.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And if Josh points out punts are turnovers two, it's
- 15:48Speaker 1: a fair way to look at it. They didn't force
- 15:49Speaker 1: a lot of those last year was really honestly, it
- 15:51Speaker 1: was really either like I said, like interception fumble so
- 15:55Speaker 1: some sort of a takeaway, or it was points.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Their drive stats weren't good, their advanced metrics weren't good. Again.
- 16:01Speaker 1: They were good at forcing you know, runs for zero
- 16:04Speaker 1: or less yards. They were good at generating turnovers again,
- 16:07Speaker 1: which is a metric that's hard to consistently be good at.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But this was the defense that got moved around a bit,
- 16:13Speaker 1: pushed around a bit. Game script was their best friend.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So the little people behind the current again to kind
- 16:18Speaker 1: of see what they are pushing.
- 16:20Speaker 2: This year got some.
- 16:21Speaker 1: James Cook propaganda in this episode. Didn't get as much
- 16:24Speaker 1: last week. When it came to the holdout like or
- 16:27Speaker 1: the hold in like, I thought we would. Instead, we
- 16:29Speaker 1: got a good amount of James James Cook content in
- 16:31Speaker 1: this episode, and I don't know, in typical kind of
- 16:34Speaker 1: Bills fashion, it was all smiles, sunshine and rainbows.
- 16:37Speaker 2: It's just, hey, we got the deal done. You know.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Bean is talking to the assistant, the assistant to him
- 16:42Speaker 1: telling her that they got the deal done. She's pumped.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Bean's talking to Cook's agent. Cook comes in, you know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: just your general, you know, dap up, happy for you,
- 16:52Speaker 1: good job, excited for you to be here. Let's go
- 16:54Speaker 1: to the contract signing. Make a joke about how he
- 16:56Speaker 1: doesn't smile. Ha ha ha James Cook propaganda, not in
- 17:00Speaker 1: a negative way, but was just kind of eh. I
- 17:05Speaker 1: didn't expect. I still wanted more from the hold in perspective,
- 17:08Speaker 1: we didn't get that.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I'm a little bitter because of that.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I thought that would be a fun nugget to see,
- 17:12Speaker 1: especially for how dry episode two was.
- 17:14Speaker 2: It would have been nice to get that piece. We didn't.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Instead, we just get the post contract signing. You know again,
- 17:20Speaker 1: propaganda and being echoes the sentiment that he continues to
- 17:22Speaker 1: echo of draft, develop and extend our own another reference
- 17:27Speaker 1: for that as my notebook over here. Next little piece
- 17:32Speaker 1: took us three episodes to get at Oliver horse stuff.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I thought we'd get it earlier.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting that he named pretty much
- 17:37Speaker 1: all of his horses, said that he owns up the
- 17:39Speaker 1: thirty horses now at this point, but it took a
- 17:41Speaker 1: while to get again more personality kind of showing. I know,
- 17:45Speaker 1: in the early in the first episode, we got Dean
- 17:47Speaker 1: Dawkins and we got some you know with him and
- 17:49Speaker 1: his family in the cars, and we got some Trey
- 17:52Speaker 1: White pieces and the trade a Sunday at Pittsford Dairy
- 17:55Speaker 1: and him and Benford kind of interacting there. But some
- 17:59Speaker 1: of the personality aspects, I thought we'd get more, and
- 18:02Speaker 1: this episode was really kind of filled with that to
- 18:05Speaker 1: a decent degree. You got the Ed Oliver horsepiece that
- 18:07Speaker 1: focused on Ed, but then him and Tie kind of
- 18:09Speaker 1: riding through the story's attached to it, the joking like
- 18:12Speaker 1: that got a good segment and then mentioned earlier. Yeah,
- 18:15Speaker 1: the Conor mc governed pizza party aspect. I'm surprised it
- 18:18Speaker 1: took this long, but I guess it didn't. It makes
- 18:20Speaker 1: sense that it took this long because they had to
- 18:22Speaker 1: wait until they got back to Buffalo for them to
- 18:25Speaker 1: do that, so, you know, I backtrack a little bit.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I will take that back. It makes sense that they waited.
- 18:30Speaker 1: This long, so I think this was really kind of
- 18:32Speaker 1: the first opportunity for them to show that. Talked about
- 18:36Speaker 1: in the intro to this episode, Connor McGovern told Eric
- 18:38Speaker 1: and I about the pizza party stuff. Well, we had
- 18:41Speaker 1: him in the film room earlier this year, and man,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I've just been so focused on it, and he even
- 18:46Speaker 1: showed some of the one of the aspects we talked
- 18:49Speaker 1: about in an episode where not only so first off,
- 18:51Speaker 1: he makes a ton of different kinds of pizzas, which
- 18:53Speaker 1: they showed in this episode. He talked about it a bit,
- 18:55Speaker 1: but he makes like pizza muffins, and they showed it
- 19:00Speaker 1: really fast, Like he had the muffin tin and he
- 19:02Speaker 1: was putting cheese and pepperoni and doll like he makes
- 19:05Speaker 1: that in the tin, and he was saying, like, that's
- 19:07Speaker 1: one of the most popular things. Essentially, they're just like
- 19:08Speaker 1: pizza muffins. I saw a bunch of the dudes showing
- 19:11Speaker 1: out in that. A lot of the defensive line, the
- 19:14Speaker 1: offensive line. I think Dawson Knox was there. I also
- 19:16Speaker 1: respect that everybody left their shoes at the front door.
- 19:18Speaker 1: We're not rocking shoes in the house. Respect that I'm
- 19:21Speaker 1: of the same cloth and cut there, but yeah, it
- 19:25Speaker 1: was cool to see that little piece, more of that,
- 19:28Speaker 1: more personality instead of just I know episode one and
- 19:31Speaker 1: two were episode one in two again, maybe they're kind
- 19:33Speaker 1: of finding the rhythm, but it just felt kind of
- 19:36Speaker 1: devoid of personality and devoid of those peaks behind the curtain.
- 19:41Speaker 1: And the pizza party thing was cool. Again, probably I
- 19:44Speaker 1: might have liked that more than anyone else, just because
- 19:46Speaker 1: of knowing about it for a while and Connor McGovern
- 19:49Speaker 1: telling that to Eric and myself, So I was expecting
- 19:52Speaker 1: that and hoping for it at some point in Hard Knocks,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and it was cool to finally get that at Aliber
- 19:56Speaker 1: horse thing.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I don't really care that he has horses.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Good for him, But again, little personality, especially one of
- 20:01Speaker 1: the bigger guys on the team, one of the more
- 20:03Speaker 1: guys on the.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Team, interesting to see.
- 20:06Speaker 1: And then again tying into the Sean McDermott piece early
- 20:09Speaker 1: on with the hunger aspect and talking about guys not
- 20:13Speaker 1: showing it yet and him expecting a little bit more.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Bobby Babbage talking about aggression, we get another Sean McDermott
- 20:19Speaker 1: quote where he's talking about preaching energy.
- 20:23Speaker 2: You know, he talks about.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Physic being physical, nasty, making plays, flying around, earning the
- 20:29Speaker 1: right to play on this team, earning the right to
- 20:30Speaker 1: be on the depth chart and climb up the depth chart.
- 20:32Speaker 1: He talks about Jimy Charlote for making that nice tackle
- 20:35Speaker 1: on special teams and then literally says in front of everybody,
- 20:38Speaker 1: he's gonna be getting more snaps this week, and he's
- 20:40Speaker 1: gonna get more work. And he literally shows kind of
- 20:43Speaker 1: the you know, cause and effect of if you and
- 20:46Speaker 1: he literally says it something to the tune of if
- 20:49Speaker 1: you make plays, you're gonna get rewarded, You're gonna get
- 20:51Speaker 1: more action, You're gonna see more snaps and more opportunities.
- 20:55Speaker 2: And him quantifying that I thought was interesting.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And this whole again, it's ironic hearing all that and
- 21:02Speaker 1: seeing all that, and knowing how flat the team was
- 21:05Speaker 1: against the Bears and how much they got rocked in
- 21:07Speaker 1: that preseason game. But him preaching these messages, I do
- 21:13Speaker 1: think to a degree to somewhat part of the course.
- 21:15Speaker 1: We get the mantos every year play you know, it
- 21:17Speaker 1: was playoff caliber and now it's championship caliber, and it's
- 21:20Speaker 1: been championship caliber, but they still tie in, you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: winning the division and winning each game and taking it
- 21:25Speaker 1: day by day and you know, doing the small stuff,
- 21:27Speaker 1: but him really driving home with everyone energy and earning
- 21:33Speaker 1: you know, what you get and preaching energy. And I
- 21:36Speaker 1: just wonder if some of that isn't part of the
- 21:39Speaker 1: course with him, and if he is feeling like there
- 21:41Speaker 1: is some complacency with this team, or if he feels
- 21:44Speaker 1: like guys are resting on their laurels a little bit
- 21:48Speaker 1: and he's not seeing what he needs to from the
- 21:51Speaker 1: team as a whole or certain you know, force multiplier
- 21:55Speaker 1: kind of guys or guys that hold you know, a
- 21:59Speaker 1: tone setting sample on the team.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And even speaking of tone setting, we.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Saw Bobby Babbage kind of light up the defense verbally,
- 22:07Speaker 1: you know, saying leadership and ef and tone setters.
- 22:10Speaker 2: This period here better be an effing ass kicking.
- 22:13Speaker 1: That was in reference to the defense not showing up
- 22:16Speaker 1: and playing well in practice in the joint practice, I believe,
- 22:20Speaker 1: and him just really or no, not the joint practice
- 22:22Speaker 1: and him just getting after them for not showing up.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And I thought that was an interesting theme throughout this episode,
- 22:29Speaker 1: you know, Babbage going hard literally in a practice because
- 22:33Speaker 1: the team isn't shown up the way they need to.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And then McDermott just in general, you know, waxing poetically
- 22:39Speaker 1: about energy and earning the right to play and all
- 22:43Speaker 1: these pieces kind of tying back to again, could be
- 22:46Speaker 1: just regular part for the course. It could be the
- 22:48Speaker 1: verbise that he uses all the time. But maybe there
- 22:50Speaker 1: is some complacency that's crept into this team. Maybe he's
- 22:53Speaker 1: not seeing the fire that he normally sees. And we
- 22:56Speaker 1: know how much effort and culture mad to Sean McDermott,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and as James puts in the comments there, yeah McDermott
- 23:03Speaker 1: the motivator. Yeah, it could be nothing other than him
- 23:06Speaker 1: trying to motivate and trying to drum up motivation. Could
- 23:10Speaker 1: be maybe they're not getting enough white board material and
- 23:14Speaker 1: you know, or not white board material, poster board material
- 23:16Speaker 1: where people are doubting the bills or talking poorly the
- 23:19Speaker 1: bills and he can't take it and just put it
- 23:21Speaker 1: up there and be like, see, look at the Bolton board.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Look at everybody doubting us.
- 23:24Speaker 1: So maybe he's trying to find other avenues and other
- 23:26Speaker 1: ways to motivate guys and.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Push this team forward.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Especially as they have had a lot of success the
- 23:34Speaker 1: pass several years. I know there hasn't been a super Bowl,
- 23:36Speaker 1: but five straight division titles, multiple AFC Championship appearances. You
- 23:40Speaker 1: now have the league MVP in house, and you're being
- 23:43Speaker 1: put on national television on a series that you know
- 23:46Speaker 1: is pretty rare to be a part of. So maybe
- 23:49Speaker 1: he's just trying to do anything and everything he can
- 23:51Speaker 1: to make sure that that complacency doesn't creep in, or
- 23:55Speaker 1: that guys don't take their standing and their stature for
- 23:58Speaker 1: granted potentially, But yeah, Derman the motivator. Yeah, this is
- 24:02Speaker 1: an interesting comment from Josh. I didn't write it down
- 24:05Speaker 1: because I kept I was rewinding a bit to get
- 24:08Speaker 1: some quotes. But then I realized if I kept doing
- 24:09Speaker 1: that for everything, that I was going to end up
- 24:11Speaker 1: being like fifteen to twenty minutes behind everyone. But Josh
- 24:14Speaker 1: in the comment says he did say he was quote
- 24:16Speaker 1: not seeing people bring energy they usually bring in the
- 24:19Speaker 1: episode or something like that.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that was early on.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I thought that was interesting him and then he transitioned
- 24:24Speaker 1: to that or from that by saying, you know, talking
- 24:27Speaker 1: about hunger and wanting to see guys being hungry and
- 24:30Speaker 1: bringing it. Yeah, and him specifically saying that, you know,
- 24:33Speaker 1: guys that usually played at a certain level or bring
- 24:35Speaker 1: a certain level of energy or hunger weren't. I wonder
- 24:39Speaker 1: who he was talking about, and I wonder what he
- 24:41Speaker 1: was seeing. And I wonder if it was a reference
- 24:42Speaker 1: to the preseason game.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Because he said that after the Giants game. I believe
- 24:45Speaker 2: it was.
- 24:46Speaker 1: That game was on a Saturday, and based on what
- 24:48Speaker 1: he said, he said the day after and then today,
- 24:51Speaker 1: so I believe it was Monday. I wonder if it
- 24:53Speaker 1: was game related. I wonder if it was practice related.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I wonder who they you know, he wasn't and he
- 24:59Speaker 1: mentioned too, like guys like a higher stature not bringing that.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I wonder who he was talking about. I did find
- 25:04Speaker 1: that very interesting. Thank you for pulling back that nugget.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I didn't remember exactly what he said and I didn't
- 25:07Speaker 1: write it down. That was very interesting and it tied
- 25:10Speaker 1: into that hunger piece again. He transitioned right to the
- 25:12Speaker 1: hunger piece right after that. Another piece, Linebackers coach coach
- 25:19Speaker 1: Hokum mentioned another three and out related aspect. He talked
- 25:22Speaker 1: about understanding the importance of three and out and take
- 25:25Speaker 1: away again tying into what Bobby Babbage is preaching when
- 25:29Speaker 1: he talked about earlier, where again he said, quote, Josh
- 25:32Speaker 1: Allen needs to be out on the field after three
- 25:34Speaker 1: plays or in less than three plays. This defense again
- 25:37Speaker 1: is looking to cause havoc. They want to generate turnovers,
- 25:40Speaker 1: which is the norm for them. That's what they've been
- 25:42Speaker 1: about the past several years. And again last year it
- 25:44Speaker 1: mattered a ton, but another tie in with the three
- 25:47Speaker 1: and out piece, tying into just getting the ball back
- 25:51Speaker 1: in whatever way, shape or form. I wonder if they
- 25:53Speaker 1: preached that last offseason. I wonder if they didn't, and
- 25:56Speaker 1: then just self scouting this offseason knowing that they were
- 25:59Speaker 1: towards the bottom of the league in three and outs,
- 26:01Speaker 1: they were towards the bottom of the league in you know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: drive length and plays per drive and new series that
- 26:07Speaker 1: were generated points per drive, all these advanced metrics that
- 26:10Speaker 1: just were not ideal. Yeah, but then super high and
- 26:15Speaker 1: turnovers for drive, super high and stuff rate because again
- 26:18Speaker 1: they were generating negative plays, tackles for zero or less
- 26:21Speaker 1: and or runs for zero or less.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I guess tackles for zero less falls into it.
- 26:24Speaker 1: As well, but runs of zero were generating takeaways, So
- 26:29Speaker 1: continuing to preach that mantra of how important three and
- 26:34Speaker 1: outs are to this team and just all tying back
- 26:36Speaker 1: to Josh Allen in this offense getting the ball back
- 26:39Speaker 1: to the offense.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Also, like the.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Little nugget during the Bears game of Sean McDermott kind
- 26:45Speaker 1: of go into whoever that is that like walks with
- 26:47Speaker 1: him on the sideline and he just kind of says
- 26:49Speaker 1: things it has the guy like make notes of it,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but he said, quote, the line of scrimmage on both
- 26:53Speaker 1: sides of the ball not good enough, and then he
- 26:55Speaker 1: tells the guy he's like circle that. So I don't
- 26:58Speaker 1: know if that guy like takes it. Might be a
- 26:59Speaker 1: quality con guy who just writes down or takes note
- 27:03Speaker 1: of McDermott's like most important or poignant thoughts or notes
- 27:06Speaker 1: in game so that McDermot can circle back to them
- 27:09Speaker 1: and kind of bring that forward to the team, whether
- 27:11Speaker 1: it's in meetings or on the practice field or whatever
- 27:13Speaker 1: they got to do. So I thought that was very
- 27:15Speaker 1: interesting as well, the little peaks that we got in
- 27:17Speaker 1: this episode. But you know, anybody questions, thoughts, comments, concerns,
- 27:21Speaker 1: feel free to put it up into the chat.
- 27:23Speaker 2: But I thought this episode again was a lot more.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I thought I had more life to it from a
- 27:27Speaker 1: personality perspective, and I don't think I'm grasping its straws
- 27:31Speaker 1: with some.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Of the more.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Again, we're not gonna get a ton of scheme and
- 27:35Speaker 1: structure and peep behind the curtain in that regard in
- 27:37Speaker 1: these episodes, especially for the Bills, who are tight left
- 27:39Speaker 1: about as much as they can be. But the banging
- 27:43Speaker 1: of the drum with McDermott and Babbage and even coach Hokum,
- 27:48Speaker 1: with everything tying into playing fast, having energy, aggression, three
- 27:55Speaker 1: and outs, taking the football away. I wonder if any
- 28:00Speaker 1: that ties into again some of the things we've theorized
- 28:03Speaker 1: on this show, what we'd like to see from the
- 28:04Speaker 1: defense this upcoming year, where it is, hey, are they
- 28:08Speaker 1: gonna blitz more? Are they gonna play more?
- 28:09Speaker 2: Man? Are they gonna press more?
- 28:11Speaker 1: Are we gonna see more creativity and more schematic variants
- 28:14Speaker 1: up front where you know, yeah, they're gonna bring some sims,
- 28:17Speaker 1: They're gonna bring some creepers.
- 28:18Speaker 2: We're gonna get it.
- 28:18Speaker 1: We're not just gonna get the standard four down overfront
- 28:23Speaker 1: zone coverage behind it. Is it all in this mantra,
- 28:26Speaker 1: in this mold that they're kind of preaching and going
- 28:28Speaker 1: towards this offseason and in camp and in preseason, or
- 28:33Speaker 1: is it still gonna be the same old Bills defense
- 28:35Speaker 1: that we've seen, especially seeing, you know, not the best
- 28:38Speaker 1: performances from them to start the preseason. Again, I think
- 28:41Speaker 1: that's gonna be very vanilla. They're not gonna show their
- 28:43Speaker 1: hand if they are tweaking things and bringing about new
- 28:46Speaker 1: scheme and I don't wanna say identity, but philosophy shifts
- 28:50Speaker 1: or tweaks, We're not gonna see that in the preseason.
- 28:53Speaker 2: They're not gonna put that on tape.
- 28:55Speaker 1: They're gonna kind of pry and keep that close to
- 28:56Speaker 1: the vest and bring it out come regular season. I
- 28:59Speaker 1: don't even know if we'll a ton in the first
- 29:00Speaker 1: six weeks because they'll be minus Larry Ogunjobe, they'll be
- 29:03Speaker 1: minus Michael Hoyt, who is a big schematic chess piece
- 29:07Speaker 1: for what they can do because of his versatility and
- 29:09Speaker 1: all the hats that he can wear, not just on
- 29:11Speaker 1: the line but even at the second.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Level as well.
- 29:14Speaker 1: But those cults really stuck out to me that aspect
- 29:17Speaker 1: of multiple times several different guys. A granted all defense,
- 29:22Speaker 1: but talking about three and outs, takeaways, aggression, energy, playing fast,
- 29:28Speaker 1: physical all, you know, using different synonyms and different keywords
- 29:32Speaker 1: and buzzwords associated with that overall philosophy and mindset and identity.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I think that was an interesting point to glean from
- 29:40Speaker 1: this episode, that talking point, that pinpoint, that identity aspect
- 29:47Speaker 1: for this defense, especially again considering the struggles that they've
- 29:51Speaker 1: had in the postseason the past couple of years. And
- 29:53Speaker 1: they hear that, they know that, you know, we got
- 29:56Speaker 1: the peek into Brandon Bean wild'n out on WGR earlier
- 29:59Speaker 1: this offseason, and I think that's somewhat reflective of They
- 30:02Speaker 1: do hear some of the outside noise and the criticisms
- 30:05Speaker 1: that are kind of late at the team's feet for
- 30:07Speaker 1: their failures and their shortcomings, and you know, I to
- 30:12Speaker 1: some degree, they hear the noise of man, the defense
- 30:16Speaker 1: hasn't been good enough, the defense isn't enough. The snuff
- 30:19Speaker 1: Josh Allen balls out in the playoffs, or the offense
- 30:21Speaker 1: balls out in the playoffs, and the defense doesn't get
- 30:23Speaker 1: it done, YadA, YadA, so on and so forth. Sean
- 30:25Speaker 1: mcgermy' is supposed to be defensive coach and he comes
- 30:27Speaker 1: up short, so on and so forth. Maybe they're hearing
- 30:30Speaker 1: that a little bit. I don't think this is, you know,
- 30:33Speaker 1: grasping its straws too much. I think is maybe trying
- 30:35Speaker 1: to connect the breadcrumbs a little bit and pick them
- 30:37Speaker 1: up and kind of put that whole puzzle piece together.
- 30:39Speaker 2: But this episode I thought was really good overall. We
- 30:42Speaker 2: got some fun charismatic aspects with Ed Oliver and the
- 30:46Speaker 2: horse stuff. We got some.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Cool peaks behind the scene with the Petz party aspect.
- 30:50Speaker 1: The improv thing again, I thought was so cool. I
- 30:52Speaker 1: just thought that exercise was neat. I thought how much
- 30:55Speaker 1: the team was into it was cool, even with the
- 30:58Speaker 1: dude said to kJ Hamler after Hammler got eliminated and
- 31:02Speaker 1: he said to him, you know, like you're like a warm,
- 31:05Speaker 1: soft brick wall or something like something that like didn't
- 31:07Speaker 1: make sense, and Handler was laughing about it after, but
- 31:10Speaker 1: the guy was so genuine. I thought the exercise was cool,
- 31:12Speaker 1: the purpose behind it was cool.
- 31:13Speaker 2: It was entertaining.
- 31:15Speaker 1: There were several really entertaining moments throughout this episode from
- 31:19Speaker 1: a team and a personality perspective.
- 31:20Speaker 2: And a culture perspective.
- 31:21Speaker 1: And then again I think those little nuggets tying into
- 31:24Speaker 1: the defense, tying into some of the things that Joe
- 31:27Speaker 1: Brady likes to see. Even you know, a schematic little
- 31:29Speaker 1: nugget that Joe Brady dropped in there talking about Josh
- 31:32Speaker 1: Allen Alan makes the joke like, oh, you're so smart.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Ah, you're so good at this.
- 31:36Speaker 1: But right before that, Joe Brady talks about, you know, hey,
- 31:39Speaker 1: like we've been throwing these incuts. That's also something that
- 31:42Speaker 1: we noticed in camp, you know, more inbreakers, attacking more
- 31:45Speaker 1: the intermediate, trying to work more in between, the numbers
- 31:49Speaker 1: not being reflected there.
- 31:50Speaker 2: So again, all these little breadcrumbs try to pick up.
- 31:53Speaker 1: It's not just this episode is fun and it is
- 31:55Speaker 1: more again lax when we talk about it here on
- 31:57Speaker 1: the show, than it is the normal film breakdown we
- 32:00Speaker 1: have in advanced metrics and scheme and structure and x's
- 32:02Speaker 1: and o's and breakdowns and everything that we have. But
- 32:05Speaker 1: I thought this episode was fun, a lot of peaks
- 32:07Speaker 1: behind the curtain from a personality perspective and a culture perspective,
- 32:10Speaker 1: but potential real little nuggets at the same time. Comment
- 32:14Speaker 1: here X says, if the defense can get four to
- 32:16Speaker 1: five stops. I'll put my money on Josh Allen and Joe.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Can they though, in reference to the defense getting those stops,
- 32:22Speaker 1: that's the big question. I have several questions about this
- 32:28Speaker 1: defense just from an identity and philosophy and roster building
- 32:34Speaker 1: and body type perspective. My biggest frustrations with it is
- 32:37Speaker 1: I don't think I'm gonna get my answers until like
- 32:40Speaker 1: week eight or nine or ten, once Hoyt and Oak
- 32:42Speaker 1: and Joe we are back. I don't want to give
- 32:45Speaker 1: them a pass early on, but knowing that they're going
- 32:47Speaker 1: to be without two important pieces that they added, and
- 32:50Speaker 1: one of them having a lot of schematic relevance, and
- 32:53Speaker 1: Michael Hoyt, I just wonder. I wonder if the defense
- 32:56Speaker 1: that we see for the first six weeks is vastly
- 32:59Speaker 1: differ than the defense we get once White, Nogan Joe
- 33:02Speaker 1: come back, and it could be positive or negative. Like
- 33:05Speaker 1: the negative defense could be lights out to start the year.
- 33:08Speaker 1: They could be more lights out. They could be terrible
- 33:10Speaker 1: to start the year. They could get better. But I
- 33:13Speaker 1: do have questions about this defense just from what they
- 33:16Speaker 1: how they operate, from a identity and philosophy standpoint, but
- 33:21Speaker 1: also from how they're built and if they get pushed
- 33:25Speaker 1: around in the run game or not in their spine.
- 33:27Speaker 2: We saw it a.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Little bit in the game against the Bears. Granted at
- 33:31Speaker 1: Oliver didn't play, de Quon Jones didn't play, but some
- 33:34Speaker 1: of those rookies and those second and third wave dudes
- 33:36Speaker 1: on the interior that they're going to need stuff from
- 33:38Speaker 1: got pushed around a bunch against the run vertically and
- 33:42Speaker 1: horizontally and got displaced and blown off the ball.
- 33:44Speaker 2: And that's been my biggest concern for that interior.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Especially when you have a second level of Matt Milano,
- 33:50Speaker 1: Terrel Bernard and Tararon Johnson, guys who are smaller in
- 33:54Speaker 1: stature even though they may play big, and you don't
- 33:57Speaker 1: want dudes climb into the second level against them. You
- 33:59Speaker 1: don't want your defensive tackles get knocked back, you know,
- 34:02Speaker 1: three or four yards off the ball and or being
- 34:04Speaker 1: able to climb and get into you know, the kitchen
- 34:06Speaker 1: of those second level dudes. I think the defense, I
- 34:09Speaker 1: have a lot of questions for the defense. That is
- 34:11Speaker 1: where my eye is the most. The offense for me
- 34:13Speaker 1: this year is more of all what tweaks or updates
- 34:15Speaker 1: do they have defensively?
- 34:16Speaker 2: For me, it is.
- 34:19Speaker 1: What happens at safety, because I've had worries about that
- 34:21Speaker 1: all offseason, and then what happens in the spine of
- 34:24Speaker 1: this defense in addition to do they play more man?
- 34:26Speaker 1: Do they try to restrict airspace? Do we get more
- 34:28Speaker 1: sims creepers? I have a lot of questions for this defense.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Can they sure? Will they? We'll see.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I do have questions because it seemed like they kind
- 34:37Speaker 1: of just leaned into more of the body types than
- 34:41Speaker 1: that they've had previously. What doesn't which doesn't really quell
- 34:44Speaker 1: the issues they had last year. But if they marry
- 34:47Speaker 1: that with more schematic creativity and variants, you could.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Balance it out a little bit. So we'll see.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Josh says, I think with the defensive overhaul being driven
- 34:54Speaker 1: by youth, will need to be patient seeing the defense
- 34:57Speaker 1: evolved vanilla because that's what they're capable right now.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I think that's fair.
- 35:01Speaker 1: You know, you do want to get the core concepts
- 35:03Speaker 1: and the install pieces down. But I do think a
- 35:05Speaker 1: lot of it is, Hey, we're gonna go out there
- 35:07Speaker 1: and play our base coverages and not have too much
- 35:10Speaker 1: variation because we don't want to put that on tape,
- 35:12Speaker 1: like they don't care.
- 35:14Speaker 2: That the bear.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Again, they want their guys to perform right, but they're
- 35:17Speaker 1: not gonna schematically do it. And also you want to
- 35:19Speaker 1: keep things kind of like for like you want to
- 35:21Speaker 1: see if you're playing, we're just playing basic cover three,
- 35:24Speaker 1: how do all your corners perform in that regard instead
- 35:27Speaker 1: of like, Okay, we're gonna blitz with this group.
- 35:29Speaker 2: We're not gonna blitz with this group.
- 35:30Speaker 1: We're gonna do, you know, five minutes with this group,
- 35:32Speaker 1: then we're gonna do simulated with this other group. You
- 35:34Speaker 1: do want to keep it kind of apples to apples
- 35:36Speaker 1: to get a fair evaluation. You don't want you don't
- 35:39Speaker 1: want too much schematic variability being responsible for dips or
- 35:43Speaker 1: ebbs and flows in play for guys positively or negatively
- 35:47Speaker 1: again ebbs and flows. But I do think a lot
- 35:50Speaker 1: of it is just it's pre season. They're not going
- 35:52Speaker 1: to show their hand for whoever they're gonna be, whatever
- 35:54Speaker 1: they're gonna be, they're not going to show their hand.
- 35:57Speaker 1: And again, some of it ties into keeping apples to apples,
- 35:59Speaker 1: like I just said, but it is gonna state Manila,
- 36:01Speaker 1: they're not going to show too much. James says, do
- 36:06Speaker 1: you think Ingram makes the fifty three next Tuesday? I
- 36:09Speaker 1: really like JaMarcus Ingram. He can play inside, he can
- 36:11Speaker 1: play outside. He's good on special teams.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I hope he does will see.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I thought he played well, and you know, I think
- 36:21Speaker 1: a lot of people forget too that he was the
- 36:23Speaker 1: dime dB last year when they had injuries in the secondary.
- 36:27Speaker 2: He was the guy who came on.
- 36:29Speaker 1: He was that sixth dB that came on the field
- 36:31Speaker 1: early in the year, and he made a couple of plays.
- 36:33Speaker 1: He had the pick six against Miami. He had a
- 36:36Speaker 1: strong play in the preseason. I don't mean like an
- 36:40Speaker 1: individual strong play, like he played well in the preseason.
- 36:42Speaker 1: He had a couple of really positive flashes to start
- 36:45Speaker 1: the year. I like him. I think he brings special
- 36:48Speaker 1: teams value. He's one of the nastier dudes on the team.
- 36:51Speaker 1: He's got great and he does have some inside outside versatility.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I would like to see him on this team. Do
- 36:58Speaker 1: I think he makes it?
- 37:00Speaker 2: It's tough. I think he could be one of the
- 37:03Speaker 2: core special teams guys.
- 37:04Speaker 1: And then because he has some versatility and some you know,
- 37:06Speaker 1: in game experience, where where.
- 37:08Speaker 2: He somewhat proved himself. And this even goes back to
- 37:10Speaker 2: a couple of years ago. Him and Benford were the
- 37:12Speaker 2: starters in.
- 37:13Speaker 1: That Week two game against Miami once Kyrie Eland went
- 37:16Speaker 1: out or Benford went out.
- 37:18Speaker 2: So, yeah, I think he does make the team.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be one of the core special
- 37:24Speaker 1: teamers and because of his inside outside versatility that he offers, Yeah,
- 37:29Speaker 1: I think he'll be there. R J says, Ingram is
- 37:31Speaker 1: a permanent practice squad guy. Yeah, I think he's a
- 37:34Speaker 1: dude that. I also think he's a guy that if
- 37:36Speaker 1: they cut could come back to the practice squad. Like
- 37:39Speaker 1: I don't think he's a guy that is gonna get
- 37:40Speaker 1: claimed anywhere else. And he's a culture guy. He likes
- 37:43Speaker 1: being here. He's twenty seven years old. This is the
- 37:45Speaker 1: team he's been around. I think he either made I
- 37:47Speaker 1: don't think he leaves the team.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I should say that.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I think he either makes the fifty three or he's
- 37:51Speaker 1: a practice squad guy. But like McDermott said, there are
- 37:54Speaker 1: gonna be a handful of guys that make the team.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I think he said like three, there's gonna be several
- 37:57Speaker 1: guys that make the team. Just because of special teams.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I think Ingram could be one of those guys. So
- 38:03Speaker 1: I don't rule him out for making the actual fifty
- 38:06Speaker 1: three because of the special team's piece and because again
- 38:09Speaker 1: he can contribute snaps on defense. May not be a
- 38:12Speaker 1: high ceiling guy, but he can contribute snaps defensively inside
- 38:16Speaker 1: and outside, in the slot and outside CB. He started
- 38:18Speaker 1: out as more of a slot guy and got more
- 38:20Speaker 1: work outside as the years have passed, and then the
- 38:22Speaker 1: special team's value.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you could.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Have that, Josh says, yes, Sorry, I'm in like practicing
- 38:27Speaker 1: your base packages right now because that's also what needs
- 38:29Speaker 1: to work. Yes, we're on the same page. Apologies if
- 38:30Speaker 1: I made it seem like we were not. Rodney says, well,
- 38:36Speaker 1: this'd be the year Josh throws the ball out.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Of the Ralph. I wonder if he. I wonder if
- 38:41Speaker 2: he could, depending on where you put him.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I'm assuming even if you put him the end zone
- 38:45Speaker 1: and like made him throw it, I think he I
- 38:47Speaker 1: don't know how hot.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Is that crazy to think that.
- 38:49Speaker 1: He could throw the ball at the stadium? Is that
- 38:50Speaker 1: a ridiculous notion? Is that a ridiculous thing to think
- 38:54Speaker 1: that that could possibly happen. I know this is obviously
- 38:56Speaker 1: a joke, but like I feel like it's like the
- 38:57Speaker 1: strongest arm.
- 38:58Speaker 2: QB in the NFL.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Not saying he is, but he's up there could chuck
- 39:02Speaker 1: a ball at a stadium, like if they got close enough,
- 39:03Speaker 1: depending on what stadium you're playing, and I feel like.
- 39:05Speaker 2: The Bills end zones aren't the highest.
- 39:08Speaker 1: That would be tough though at the angle the trajectory
- 39:11Speaker 1: you gotta get plus the velocity. Somebody who's a science
- 39:14Speaker 1: person tell me if that's crazy or not, but it'd
- 39:17Speaker 1: be fun.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Mister Smith says, who is your surprise starter at safety?
- 39:22Speaker 2: I don't have one.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be Taylor rapping Cold Bishop unless
- 39:25Speaker 1: Rap is hurt and Bishop is hurt, and then if
- 39:28Speaker 1: that's the case, I think.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I guess the coccount is a surprise. I think if
- 39:36Speaker 2: Taylor Rap or Cold Bishop are hurt and aren't the
- 39:40Speaker 2: starter at safety, I think they want those guys to do.
- 39:42Speaker 1: If both of those guys are healthy, those are your
- 39:45Speaker 1: starters at safety. If either one of them are hurt
- 39:47Speaker 1: and don't start or can't play in a game, I
- 39:51Speaker 1: think Cam Lewis is the next man up for the starter.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I think Hamlin has been bumped down the depth chart.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I think cam Lewis is safety three. I don't know
- 39:59Speaker 1: that'll be a surprise for but I think that will be.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I don't think a lot of people think of cam
- 40:02Speaker 1: Lewis and think they think of Damar Hamlin, Jordan Hancock,
- 40:06Speaker 1: Derek Forrest. I don't think people see Lewis as that
- 40:09Speaker 1: even though he because he's like the backup nickel and
- 40:11Speaker 1: backup safety. I think cam Lewis's safety three, and I
- 40:14Speaker 1: think if Bishop or Hamlin are hurt, or if Bishop
- 40:17Speaker 1: just isn't up to snuff, cam Lewis becomes that starter
- 40:20Speaker 1: of safety. Josh says easily can get the ball out
- 40:24Speaker 1: of the stadium at the end zones, right. I think
- 40:25Speaker 1: that's not crazy. Jason says he tried throwing the ball
- 40:28Speaker 1: out of the stadium either his first or second season.
- 40:31Speaker 1: He didn't how close did he get. He didn't make
- 40:33Speaker 1: it right. I feel like I would know if he
- 40:35Speaker 1: made it like that would have been a big thing.
- 40:36Speaker 2: But that's that. Yeah, that's not crazy.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Art He says, there literally isn't a strong arm ever
- 40:41Speaker 1: recorded when it comes to Josh, he sent a ball
- 40:43Speaker 1: to the three hundred level once after TIV But I've
- 40:45Speaker 1: seen that for other quarterbacks, Like I don't know who
- 40:48Speaker 1: who currently has the strongest arm in the NFL, but
- 40:51Speaker 1: Allen's probably up there from a velocity standpoint, and especially
- 40:55Speaker 1: with his mechanics, I.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Would like to see. Yeah, I feel like he could
- 40:59Speaker 2: throw the ball out of this. I think there's a
- 41:00Speaker 2: couple guys who potentially do that. I just really hope
- 41:02Speaker 2: I'm not crazy for thinking that, Yeah, that could happen.
- 41:06Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say I could happen. Rodney says, do
- 41:09Speaker 2: we go after Simmons or Marcus Williams. Marcus Williams has
- 41:13Speaker 2: been banged up the past couple of years. Simmons is
- 41:16Speaker 2: more pass.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Coverage than he is run defense, even though he's not
- 41:18Speaker 1: a bad run defender.
- 41:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I don't know if they go after anyone, because again,
- 41:23Speaker 1: if you do that, essentially you're bumping Bishop down and
- 41:27Speaker 1: I don't know if he ever recovers. And I don't
- 41:29Speaker 1: know if they're in the spot to give up on
- 41:31Speaker 1: Cole Bishop right now, rightly or wrongly. I'm not saying
- 41:35Speaker 1: that they're right for doing that or wrong for doing that.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I just don't think they're ready to give up on
- 41:39Speaker 1: Cole Bishop, which is what would happen if you bring
- 41:42Speaker 1: in Justin Simmons. Again, it could be just depth. You
- 41:46Speaker 1: want somebody to solidify your safety three spot, but he's
- 41:50Speaker 1: not gonna play teams.
- 41:51Speaker 2: He's just really in the safety room. Are you going
- 41:54Speaker 2: to bring in a guy.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Just for that to have a roster spot for that
- 41:58Speaker 1: or are you bringing him in to be more of
- 41:59Speaker 1: a starter. Again, If you're bringing him to be a
- 42:01Speaker 1: more of a starter, then I feel like it's not
- 42:03Speaker 1: curtains for Cole Bishop. But it's really hard to come
- 42:07Speaker 1: back from that. Again, that doesn't mean he can't become
- 42:09Speaker 1: the starter next year and turn into the player they want, but.
- 42:12Speaker 2: He needs time on task.
- 42:14Speaker 1: And if you don't give him that and replace him
- 42:18Speaker 1: because of play, or if you replace him when he's
- 42:20Speaker 1: healthy and can be out there, I just don't think
- 42:23Speaker 1: they want to go down that road. They want it
- 42:25Speaker 1: to be Rap and Bishop. I think they're trying to
- 42:26Speaker 1: light a fire under Bishop more than anything. And again
- 42:28Speaker 1: I don't think Bishop's been great when he's been out there,
- 42:31Speaker 1: but he hasn't been terrible or awful. The biggest thing
- 42:33Speaker 1: is he hasn't been out there. We haven't seen him.
- 42:36Speaker 1: That's the biggest indictment. And that's a whole noother conversation,
- 42:41Speaker 1: Like if they think that he's going to continuously be
- 42:43Speaker 1: injury prone or he's got injuries that are going to
- 42:46Speaker 1: prevent him from being able to stay on the field
- 42:48Speaker 1: with regularity, that's a different conversation. That's a horse of
- 42:52Speaker 1: another feather. Then I think maybe you do potentially bring
- 42:55Speaker 1: in someone. All I know is I don't like. I
- 42:58Speaker 1: just don't like to see I've talked about it so much.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I don't like the safety, like like the I like
- 43:03Speaker 1: some of the players individually or in a vacuum. I
- 43:05Speaker 1: don't like it as a group. I don't like the
- 43:07Speaker 1: various combinations. And I'm wary of whoever the starters are,
- 43:13Speaker 1: exus how many linebackers make the team. I like Jenkins
- 43:15Speaker 1: and yeah, I like Keanthon Jenkins forty nine. He's basement
- 43:18Speaker 1: sweet and charlo. I see big hits on special teams
- 43:21Speaker 1: in their future. Yeah, I can see that it's just
- 43:22Speaker 1: gonna be tough if we're looking at it right now.
- 43:29Speaker 2: I said this quick.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Milano makes it, Bernard makes it. Dorian Williams makes it.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I think Joe Andriesen makes it. That's four. I think
- 43:38Speaker 1: they probably keep five, and then it comes down to
- 43:41Speaker 1: Shack Ulafohio, Charlo Jenkins, whoever balls out the most on
- 43:45Speaker 1: special teams. I know Ulafohio has has value there. I
- 43:48Speaker 1: think I think five linebackers make the team. I think
- 43:52Speaker 1: potentially could be four if they want to keep an
- 43:54Speaker 1: extra dB or an edge or something like that, especially
- 43:59Speaker 1: because Dorian and Andrew and can give you special teams reps.
- 44:01Speaker 1: But I think five potentially. I think it's a toss
- 44:05Speaker 1: up for who the fifth is. And I think a
- 44:07Speaker 1: lot of it, not even a lot of it. All
- 44:08Speaker 1: of it's going to be determined by special teams. Like
- 44:10Speaker 1: I don't think it's crazy to think Charlo can make
- 44:12Speaker 1: it if he keeps playing really well on special teams.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Mister Smith says Andresen struggled. Does he a lot for
- 44:17Speaker 1: this team?
- 44:17Speaker 2: I think he is.
- 44:18Speaker 1: He's still a good run defending linebacker. He's still just
- 44:21Speaker 1: putting the pieces together from a coverage standpoint. But he's
- 44:24Speaker 1: a good special teamer and I don't think they have
- 44:27Speaker 1: a lot of other options at the spot for somebody
- 44:29Speaker 1: to beat him out. I think he's linebacker four. I
- 44:31Speaker 1: think it's Bernard Milano, Dorian and then Andresen.
- 44:35Speaker 2: So I think that's fine.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Josh says, hard to develop on the bench after Baltimore,
- 44:39Speaker 1: the schedule gets a lot easier to give him some reps.
- 44:41Speaker 1: That's a fair point, right, So, yeah, the schedule does
- 44:45Speaker 1: in theory, you know, if you're going by last year's
- 44:48Speaker 1: record and what the pay rosters look like on paper, Yeah,
- 44:51Speaker 1: the schedule does get a little easier to potentially give
- 44:54Speaker 1: Cole Bishop some reps and get.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Him some time on task can smooth.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Jazz says, based on your coverage and what the coach
- 45:02Speaker 1: of state, our safeties are on the team, based on
- 45:04Speaker 1: how important they are for setting calling the defense for
- 45:06Speaker 1: the secondary Gobils absolutely, which is why Taylor rap is
- 45:10Speaker 1: so valuable because he does such a great job setting
- 45:12Speaker 1: and calling the defense and aligning everybody on the back end.
- 45:16Speaker 1: But that's also why DeMar Hamlin has been starting so much,
- 45:19Speaker 1: because he's usually in the right place at the right time,
- 45:21Speaker 1: and he knows what he's doing pre to post snap.
- 45:23Speaker 1: He doesn't have the athleticism. He has a lot of
- 45:25Speaker 1: limitations athletically and from a ceiling perspective, but he sets
- 45:28Speaker 1: a high floor because he's able to just set.
- 45:32Speaker 2: He's a set and forget type of dude, even though
- 45:34Speaker 2: it's not sexy. Rodney says, Is it for me? Rodney says,
- 45:41Speaker 2: when our defense was good years ago, I asked you
- 45:43Speaker 2: if Josh would catch up to them. You said yes.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Did I really say this actually happened? That's cool. If
- 45:47Speaker 2: it did, I said yes. Now I asked, well, the
- 45:50Speaker 2: defense catch back up to be determined. If this actually
- 45:55Speaker 2: was an actual, real interaction, that's super cool and nice,
- 45:57Speaker 2: thank you for bringing that back. That's cool. I think
- 46:00Speaker 2: it's to be determined.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I the biggest thing for me with the Bills defense
- 46:06Speaker 1: is the type of defense they operate with from a
- 46:08Speaker 1: philosophical standpoint and a body type standpoint and an archetype standpoint,
- 46:13Speaker 1: is not the type of defense I favor and I
- 46:16Speaker 1: gravitate towards. And I think that's and the reason I
- 46:19Speaker 1: gravitate towards the defenses that I gravitate towards isn't just
- 46:22Speaker 1: because oh I like them, you know, It's because of
- 46:25Speaker 1: what they offer schematically and what they offer long term
- 46:28Speaker 1: and from a matchup perspective, and at the end, of
- 46:30Speaker 1: the day. Football is a match up league, so I
- 46:36Speaker 1: think they can catch back up. But man, if Bishop
- 46:40Speaker 1: doesn't hit, Dwayne Carter already hasn't hit, if Bishop doesn't hit,
- 46:45Speaker 1: if Max Harrison doesn't hit, if T J. Sanders doesn't hit.
- 46:50Speaker 1: There's some questions that got to be answered on this team,
- 46:51Speaker 1: even next year, right Like Larry Ogunjobe, even if he
- 46:54Speaker 1: he hits, he's on A one year, He's a UFA
- 46:56Speaker 1: next year. Daikwon Jones is a UFA next year. You're
- 46:59Speaker 1: looking at your edge. Grew Bosa is the UFA next year.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Landon Jackson, what do you get from him? A Japanessa's
- 47:04Speaker 1: UFA next year. They have a lot of questions on
- 47:07Speaker 1: the defensive side of the ball, and so can they
- 47:09Speaker 1: catch up?
- 47:10Speaker 2: Sure? Will they?
- 47:12Speaker 1: I'm very skeptical right now because I think they need
- 47:15Speaker 1: a lot of things to fall their way, and just
- 47:20Speaker 1: from a probability.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Perspective, it's hard to get all that or expect all that.
- 47:24Speaker 2: But time will tell. Oh, that's awesome, Ronnie. Ronnie says,
- 47:28Speaker 2: absolutely was in the film room. That's awesome. That's a
- 47:29Speaker 2: super cool callback. Thank you for that. That's awesome. That
- 47:32Speaker 2: was really cool.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Thank you for that comment and then confirming it here.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I appreciate that, mister Smith is how many wide receivers
- 47:42Speaker 1: and who makes the team? I think it depends on
- 47:44Speaker 1: Curtis Samuel's health. I still am in the belief of five, Palmer, Coleman, Shakir, Samuel,
- 47:53Speaker 1: More or Shavers. I think Shavers has played himself into
- 47:58Speaker 1: some real contention here, and he's got He's got frame,
- 48:00Speaker 1: he plays special teams. Elijah Moore gives you some of
- 48:04Speaker 1: the Khalil Shakir replication while also being able to do
- 48:08Speaker 1: some other stuff. That's an important piece because if anything
- 48:10Speaker 1: happens to Shaki, you would want to replicate that role
- 48:13Speaker 1: or mitigate his loss to some degree.
- 48:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna say five.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I think the top again, health is also going to
- 48:21Speaker 1: be a huge piece, right, If Shakira isn't ready for
- 48:23Speaker 1: week one, if Samuel is banged up, if Palmer's been
- 48:25Speaker 1: banged up, right, that's gonna throw a huge wrench in everything.
- 48:28Speaker 1: But if everyone was healthy, I think the top four
- 48:30Speaker 1: is locked of Palmer keon Samuel, not necessarily this order,
- 48:34Speaker 1: but Palmer Keon Shakir, Samuel, and then I think they
- 48:38Speaker 1: keep five, and I think fifth is up for grabs
- 48:40Speaker 1: between Elijah Moore and Tyrol Shavers. Oh, that's awesome, Rodney says,
- 48:46Speaker 1: much love from Anchorage, Alaska. That's super cool. Daan, what
- 48:49Speaker 1: time is it there right now?
- 48:51Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm horrible with time zones like that
- 48:54Speaker 2: like that in Hawaii. I have no idea, But that's awesome.
- 48:56Speaker 2: I appreciate you. Thank you for tuning in.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Josh has a lot of them investment in young players
- 49:00Speaker 1: on the defense, can't really afford to miss on all
- 49:02Speaker 1: of them, kind of like what happened to the Bengals
- 49:04Speaker 1: d Yeah, but you know what's also funny is before
- 49:06Speaker 1: that they had hit on so many dudes. They brought
- 49:10Speaker 1: in Trey Henderson, but they hit on Logan Wilson, they
- 49:13Speaker 1: hit on Jermaine Pratt, they hit on Jesse Bates, they
- 49:15Speaker 1: hit on Sam Hubbard. They hit on so many dudes
- 49:20Speaker 1: on the defensive side, and that allowed them to have
- 49:24Speaker 1: a really good defense. And then they tapped into a
- 49:27Speaker 1: rookie Joe Brookie contract, Joe Burrow and rookie contract Jamar
- 49:30Speaker 1: Chase and rookie contract t Higgins. Like they had all
- 49:33Speaker 1: these ballers on offense. But it started by hitting the
- 49:37Speaker 1: draft really well on the defensive side of the ball,
- 49:39Speaker 1: and there's more dudes that fall into that as well
- 49:41Speaker 1: on that side. Yeah, they they hit on a lot
- 49:44Speaker 1: of their draftick especially early on on Day one and
- 49:46Speaker 1: Day two, and then all of a sudden.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Fell off a cliff and they are where they are. Ooh,
- 49:52Speaker 2: six fifty five and Anchorage, Alaska. Okay, not too crazy. Wow, No,
- 49:56Speaker 2: that is crazy. It's almost a full twenty four hours ahead. Dang, spec,
- 50:03Speaker 2: that's awesome. Josh and Cam Taylor Britt too. Yeah, he's
- 50:05Speaker 2: a hit. He's sweet. We'll see. They shouldn't They shouldn't have.
- 50:08Speaker 1: It's hard to pay safeties, especially with where they were,
- 50:10Speaker 1: but they shouldn't have let Jesse Bates go. Jesse Bates
- 50:12Speaker 1: is sweet and they've been trying to fill that void
- 50:14Speaker 1: ever since.
- 50:15Speaker 2: But you win some, you lose some.
- 50:19Speaker 1: You know what, you always win and you never lose
- 50:22Speaker 1: the battle for deliciousness when you get one pie pizza
- 50:26Speaker 1: the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. Wait, hold on,
- 50:31Speaker 1: time out, I'm an idiot.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Oh six fifty five, six fifty five PM, like still today,
- 50:38Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm thinking you're saying six to fifty five.
- 50:41Speaker 2: I see everybody in the comments, I'm like, why, oh
- 50:43Speaker 2: got it? I'm an idiot. I always think it's six
- 50:45Speaker 2: to fifty five tomorrow. I don't know why. I deal
- 50:49Speaker 2: with a lot of in my day job.
- 50:50Speaker 1: I deal with a lot of overseas aspects in Europe,
- 50:55Speaker 1: in Asia, so I'm always very like, what time is
- 50:59Speaker 1: it in China?
- 50:59Speaker 2: What time is it in Bangladesh? What time is it
- 51:02Speaker 2: in Europe? So I'm always very like forward thinking anytime
- 51:05Speaker 2: it comes to time zones.
- 51:07Speaker 1: So so I read six fifty five and I immediately
- 51:11Speaker 1: was like, oh, six fifty five Wednesday, August twentieth.
- 51:15Speaker 2: My brain is just completely forward.
- 51:17Speaker 1: It didn't even register to me that it could be
- 51:18Speaker 1: a possibility that they're four hours behind. Didn't even come close,
- 51:21Speaker 1: which is so dumb on me, because they're right by
- 51:23Speaker 1: the West.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Coast time slot.
- 51:24Speaker 1: So if you're thinking, okay, CALLI is three hours behind,
- 51:28Speaker 1: or you know, Pacific time is three hours behind, Alaska
- 51:30Speaker 1: will be one behind after that.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Man, it's late, it's late. I'm an idiot. I'm an idiot.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Oh Rodney saying we're the second to last global time zone.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Oh fun fact.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm an idiot. Good job chat well done. I'm
- 51:42Speaker 1: falling apart, such an idiot.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:45Speaker 1: I was immediately like, oh Wednesday, Yeah, cool, six fifty
- 51:48Speaker 1: five pm Wednesday.
- 51:50Speaker 2: The day job. That's why I didn't. I had day
- 51:52Speaker 2: job stuff last week. You know, I had a call
- 51:55Speaker 2: overseas at nine pm Eastern last week because it was
- 52:00Speaker 2: nine am somewhere else with the people I had a
- 52:02Speaker 2: call with, and that we had to have a call
- 52:03Speaker 2: with them before they started their day.
- 52:05Speaker 1: So I'm very forward. Yeah, they didn't even register. Well done, chat.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Apologies that my brain is fried. Just back to the
- 52:13Speaker 1: pizza RecA. Yeah, back to the pizza rec The best
- 52:16Speaker 1: pizza in Buffalo, New York. That is One Pipe Pizza.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I don't say they're the best because they sponsor the show.
- 52:22Speaker 1: They sponsored the show because I genuinely think they are
- 52:25Speaker 1: the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. Sweet sauce, pie
- 52:28Speaker 1: cup and char pepperoni. They named a pizza after us
- 52:31Speaker 1: here at Cover one. It's called the Cover one Josh
- 52:33Speaker 1: Allen Goat. It's got goat cheese and mozzarella and bits
- 52:38Speaker 1: of bacon and I don't even want to spoil it.
- 52:40Speaker 2: It's phenomenal.
- 52:41Speaker 1: I got a half sheet last week that was half
- 52:44Speaker 1: the cover one Alan goat and a half cheese and pepperoni,
- 52:46Speaker 1: and it was phenomenal. They also make their own homemade
- 52:49Speaker 1: blue cheese. They also do an amazing breakfast pizza. They
- 52:52Speaker 1: also have a catering division. They just make really good
- 52:57Speaker 1: food in a variety of ways. The catering division can
- 52:59Speaker 1: be found in the episode show and it's here. It's
- 53:01Speaker 1: called Elevated Catering of Buffalo. You can also find the
- 53:04Speaker 1: one Pie pizza menu or I'm sorry, the website address
- 53:07Speaker 1: that goes to the online menu and their site in general,
- 53:09Speaker 1: and the episode show notes both of those things, whether
- 53:11Speaker 1: here on YouTube or whichever podcasting app platform you were
- 53:13Speaker 1: listening to the show on. Yeah, the food is phenomenal
- 53:16Speaker 1: and they're good people. I talk about all the time,
- 53:18Speaker 1: all the good they do for the community, the drives,
- 53:20Speaker 1: the initiatives, partnering with Roswell, the SPCA, the Alzheimer's Foundation,
- 53:24Speaker 1: Toys for Tots, they do a lot of good with
- 53:28Speaker 1: the community. And that's aside from just making tremendous food.
- 53:31Speaker 1: They're really good people making really good food and awesome
- 53:35Speaker 1: endorsement from marj Argie says, I don't get paid by
- 53:37Speaker 1: one pie and they are the best. I had a pepperoni, sausage, bacon,
- 53:41Speaker 1: onion and banana pepper pizza the other day and it
- 53:44Speaker 1: was the best pizza I had ever had.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Yes, RJ tagged me.
- 53:49Speaker 1: He told me he was going to get one pie
- 53:51Speaker 1: when he came into Buffalo, and he did, and he
- 53:54Speaker 1: tagged me and he put pictures on Twitter and it
- 53:57Speaker 1: was delicious.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Josh has Guys, I'm hungry. Don't do this. I feel you.
- 54:00Speaker 2: I am hungry.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I'm probably gonna eat something after this, even though it's
- 54:02Speaker 1: super late and I gotta get.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Up super early.
- 54:04Speaker 1: But yeah, one pie is the best. Get yourself some
- 54:06Speaker 1: one pi pizza. Whether you live in Buffalo or if
- 54:09Speaker 1: you're coming up for a Bill's game, get yourself some
- 54:10Speaker 1: one pi pizza. You will not be disappointed. You will
- 54:13Speaker 1: not be disappointed. Get yourself some one pie pizza.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Yeah, on my menu.
- 54:18Speaker 1: All that information can be found on the sites in
- 54:20Speaker 1: the episode show notes, whether here on YouTube or whichever
- 54:22Speaker 1: podcasting Apple platform you're listening to this show on. But
- 54:26Speaker 1: put up the ban on this, says tootles, folks, because
- 54:27Speaker 1: we're gonna start to say goodbye before anybody leaves.

- 54:42Speaker 1: you have not already, please drop alike on this video.

- 55:03Speaker 1: I will keep everyone informed on social of what the
- 55:06Speaker 1: plan will be for next week, but with roster cuts happening,
- 55:09Speaker 1: probably do something on Tuesday night, we'll see, and then
- 55:15Speaker 1: that bonus episode that I have will be dropping in
- 55:17Speaker 1: the back end of the week.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Fingers crossed, no jinks.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Very very excited for the guests that I have on
- 55:22Speaker 1: that one and the conversation that we will be having.
- 55:25Speaker 1: So minimum you'll get one episode from me next week,
- 55:29Speaker 1: probably two, we'll see. Hope you folks enjoyed this episode.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Oh gotta stop? Yeah, what was the question here? I
- 55:37Speaker 1: just doesn't need to figure out another one to try
- 55:39Speaker 1: this weekend. I think you need to try the breakfast
- 55:40Speaker 1: pizza next. I haven't had the breakfast pizza yet, but
- 55:42Speaker 1: I heard it's crazy good again, not surprising because everything
- 55:45Speaker 1: they make is really good.
- 55:46Speaker 2: Breakfas pizza sounds really good. Right now.
- 55:48Speaker 1: I could go for a breakfast pizza, Rodney says, last one.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Do you feel better about this year's receivers or last
- 55:52Speaker 1: year's at this point?
- 55:57Speaker 2: This year's mainly because I know I know what type
- 56:01Speaker 2: of offense they're going to have.
- 56:02Speaker 1: Last year, I was very hopeful that it would be
- 56:04Speaker 1: more condensed formations, reduced formational with running the football, using
- 56:09Speaker 1: bigger body types to blend and marry the run in
- 56:12Speaker 1: the past, and have less tells, less siloing, and being
- 56:15Speaker 1: able to access more of the play calling menu without
- 56:17Speaker 1: having to turn the page. I know what they're going
- 56:21Speaker 1: to be schematically, so the receivers that they have are
- 56:25Speaker 1: more than fine for what they're gonna be schematically and
- 56:27Speaker 1: what their MO is going to be on offense. Now,
- 56:30Speaker 1: if you told me this team was going to go
- 56:32Speaker 1: spread and pass the ball thirty five to forty five
- 56:35Speaker 1: times a game, I would not feel great, But yeah,
- 56:38Speaker 1: I feel better about this year's receiving core with the
- 56:42Speaker 1: caveat of I am worried about the injuries, Samuel being
- 56:45Speaker 1: banged up again and Josh Palmer being banged up. That's
- 56:47Speaker 1: a big one. Shakir got banged up. He should be fine,
- 56:49Speaker 1: but the injuries make me a little wary. But all
- 56:52Speaker 1: things equal, I feel better about this year's grouping because
- 56:54Speaker 1: I know the schematic identity offense, how those receivers fit in,
- 56:58Speaker 1: and what we're going to get. Josh has mina with eyeballs.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Fair guests, we'll see. That'll do it for us here
- 57:08Speaker 1: in this episode of disguised coverage. I hope you folks
- 57:10Speaker 1: enjoyed this episode, whether you're watching now, watching later, listening,
- 57:15Speaker 1: or if you live in Anchorage, Alaska and you know
- 57:18Speaker 1: it's currently October twenty fourth right now, because that's how
- 57:21Speaker 1: far in the future I think they are. Because my
- 57:24Speaker 1: brain is fried, I hope you folks enjoyed this episode.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Thank you very much everyone who tuned in live.
- 57:28Speaker 2: I know again the schedule of the content's but a
- 57:31Speaker 2: little wonky recently for me, but I appreciate everyone tuning
- 57:35Speaker 2: in live and the engagement, the questions, the back and
- 57:37Speaker 2: forth with each other, and which with myself, the kind
- 57:39Speaker 2: words Rodney are really I really appreciate you kind of
- 57:43Speaker 2: bringing back that callback to that question you asked me
- 57:45Speaker 2: a couple of years ago in the film room and
- 57:46Speaker 2: tying it back now. I appreciate you for that.
- 57:48Speaker 1: And yeah, whatever form or fashion your episode consumption comes
- 57:52Speaker 1: in live, post live, YouTube, Spotify, Apple podcasts, whatever have you.
- 57:59Speaker 2: I'm great with you for and appreciative of it. And oh,
- 58:02Speaker 2: great comment from r J.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't want to say it, but this goes
- 58:05Speaker 1: without saying for me, like I wish we could have
- 58:06Speaker 1: this year's wide receivers, but also with Matt Collins, great comment.
- 58:10Speaker 1: One of my big questions for the offense, and I
- 58:12Speaker 1: don't have many, is who fills the mac Collins role,
- 58:14Speaker 1: and if they do it with an individual or several individuals,
- 58:18Speaker 1: or if they get around it schematically. Because he was
- 58:21Speaker 1: a lot more important for this offense. He made some
- 58:24Speaker 1: plays and then because he was a character he got recognition.
- 58:27Speaker 1: But from a schematic importance perspective, he played a big
- 58:31Speaker 1: role or significant role. I should say in this offense
- 58:33Speaker 1: last year, So I think that's a very fair point,
- 58:35Speaker 1: and then Josh says, that's why Gave Davis is visiting tomorrow.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Fair point with Gabe Davis. Enjoy the rest of your
- 58:41Speaker 1: Tuesday night, folks. I will see you tomorrow for an
- 58:43Speaker 1: episode of the Film Room, and then I will see
- 58:45Speaker 1: you live here Saturday night, immediately following the Bills preseason finale.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, Enjoy the rest of
- 58:53Speaker 1: your week. I help you and your family and friends
- 58:55Speaker 1: and loved ones are all doing well and staying safe.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Be kind of one another, take care of one another.
- 59:00Speaker 1: WILL see you when I see you. God speed, and
- 59:02Speaker 1: as always, go Bills.
- 59:05Speaker 3: Mhm m
