- 0:06Hello and welcome to What Do You Call It podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host GB. At the time of recording it is
- 0:14Valentine's Day, so brand new points for me.
- 0:17Happy Valentine's to my awesome garfit.
- 0:20He's an Irish pro wrestler who lost seven points.
- 0:23Hands out arse weapons. Please welcome last orders,
- 0:27O'Keefe mate. Blip me threw off the bell.
- 0:34Mate. How you been doing?
- 0:36All good. Yeah, I'm good.
- 0:38I'm good. Thank you very much for having
- 0:39me on the show. I thought you were going to wish
- 0:41me a happy Valentine's Day there for at the beginning.
- 0:43So I was a little bit disappointed it wasn't for me,
- 0:45but yeah, all good. How are you?
- 0:47Good mate, all good, cannot complain.
- 0:50Those that follow me on social media and those that I do like
- 0:52to post about us a lot. So while we are still in
- 0:56contention for four trophies, it's been a bit frustrating
- 0:59moment drawing against Brentford, a good Brentford side
- 1:02to be fair. But there's just some individual
- 1:04players that I have issues with like Odegaard.
- 1:08I'm sorry to say I'm going to get crucified, but as AI just
- 1:11don't think you've been good enough besides the hat trick
- 1:14against Tottenham, but we can't keep going on about that.
- 1:17But I'm going to ask you mate because I know you are an avid
- 1:21supporter of Liverpool. Bit of a different season
- 1:25compared to the previous season where you won the Premier
- 1:28League. Please tell me how would you
- 1:30rate Liverpool season so far out of 10?
- 1:34Oh gosh. And yeah, I mean, look, it's
- 1:38going to be a little bit low, isn't it?
- 1:39Like I'm, I'm, I'm going to give it like A5 or A6 at the moment,
- 1:42you know, I think like, you know, considering everything
- 1:45considered, I think they're doing, they're doing OK.
- 1:48Like in my personal opinion, I feel like, like, you know, Clap
- 1:52got us that Premier League title, you know, it was the work
- 1:55that he had put in that got us to that stage.
- 1:59Not that I don't like Arnie Slot like I do I I have a lot of
- 2:02respect for him. I think he's a great manager and
- 2:04stuff like that. But but but yeah, I'm starting
- 2:07to lose hope a little bit, you know what I mean?
- 2:09And then and I, I think as well, like, you know, I think we, we
- 2:12all also are like, really like not addressing like the the
- 2:16elephant in the room, which is like, you know, this is like
- 2:19this is not even a full year since Jota has passed away.
- 2:22You know, so like such a prominent player for our team,
- 2:25such like, you know, like, like a best friend of all the other
- 2:29players, like most Salah, like got loads of lads.
- 2:32They were so, so close with him. Do you know, And I think like,
- 2:35you know, when you put that into perspective, like, you know,
- 2:37people are like, Oh, they get paid so much money and you know,
- 2:39they, they should just be focusing on what's at hand.
- 2:42But I that that would ruin that would ruin me if it was like,
- 2:46you know, if I put myself in their shoes and it was like one
- 2:48of my teammates, like our colleague or something like
- 2:51that. You know, like I think I think
- 2:53there's I think there is a bit of that as well, which is is
- 2:56kind of obviously such a major factor for it too.
- 3:02So yeah, not the not the most ideal season for us.
- 3:05But look, I have AI was watching your game actually against
- 3:08Brentford. So Brentford is like my local
- 3:11team, like I live in in Hanwell kind of Ealing area.
- 3:15So Brentford is like the closest club to me.
- 3:18So yeah, got respect for Bradford and obviously they've
- 3:21got Cui, Dean, Callehring and goal, you know, another Irish
- 3:24man. So I love that.
- 3:26Sorry about the phone. But yes.
- 3:28So basically, yeah, I was, I was watching your game and obviously
- 3:33I do fantasy Premier League as well.
- 3:34So like, you know, with the 2 Arsenal games, like you've got
- 3:39one on the 18th and the one last last Thursday, I put a fair few
- 3:44Arsenal players in my, in my premier, in my, in my fantasy
- 3:47league. And yeah, it's like I even treat
- 3:51who do I triple captain? I triple Captain Gabriel, you
- 3:54know, and and. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:57Literally gets booked in the first like 15 minutes.
- 4:00Yeah, exactly the point. The point I'd offer him playing
- 4:03got removed straight away. So what can you do?
- 4:06But yeah, I was I I was I with loads of loads of Arsenal sport
- 4:10is that might as well. So you know, it's yeah, it's
- 4:14obviously not ideal for my fantasy Premier League, but
- 4:17don't don't hate that, don't hate that in terms of, you know,
- 4:20in terms of the overall score, I think, you know, it would maybe
- 4:23be nice to see Arsenal win it. You know, it's been a long time.
- 4:26I'm sure you guys are getting quite.
- 4:29Frustrated. 22 years, mate. No, wait, 20?
- 4:34Yeah, 22 years. Bloody hell.
- 4:35OK. You, you were alive.
- 4:37You, you've seen a, you've seen a, a Premier League title win.
- 4:39Yeah. I'm I'm quite old mate, Yeah.
- 4:44Because I remember it like I remember it definitely.
- 4:46I was, I think I was like 12 or something.
- 4:48So yeah. This didn't feel real, to be
- 4:50fair. And you've got these this young
- 4:52generation that tried to submit it.
- 4:53Oh, but the drew loads of games, the drew lot 11 games stuff
- 4:56didn't lose any games. That's that's the whole point,
- 4:59being unbeaten in an entire season and then lose it the way
- 5:03that Arsenal did lose it to May night, 49 games when Rooney
- 5:06dives. He dived.
- 5:08Don't care. The baby comments are more than
- 5:10fucking happy to do it. But I hope it happens to me.
- 5:13It's been quite unique season for you.
- 5:15Like you said, you know, unfortunately Jotter's death is
- 5:18going to have an impact on the players, you know, in the
- 5:20dressing room because he wasn't just, you know, just another
- 5:24team player, but he's also putting very good friends with a
- 5:27lot of them. I know Salah was really upset
- 5:30about it, you know, and you've had issues with Salah this
- 5:33season, you know, getting drops and then him posting what he did
- 5:36and the way he behaved. I don't necessarily agree with
- 5:38it. I get why he's angry because
- 5:41he's a club legend. He's one of the best players in
- 5:43Liverpool football history. That that's going to be very,
- 5:45very hard to debate. I think you've also had issues
- 5:49with like can I say, and Virgil Van Dyke in the back and then
- 5:54big, big sign in 150 million ASIC and he fucking injured the
- 5:59rest of season. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:01Not not ideal, not ideal. And like it's taken words a
- 6:04little, a little minute to like warm up and stuff as well,
- 6:06hasn't it? So, you know, well, let's see,
- 6:09let's see how we go next season. Like I think we're kind of like
- 6:12we're, you know, we're obviously we're obviously kind of on the
- 6:15back foot a bit this season. So for me, I'm just like, yeah,
- 6:18let's, let's look at that. Let's just get the season.
- 6:20Haven't done with. Yeah, let's hope that Arsenal
- 6:22don't. Don't bottle it for your sake,
- 6:24you know so. Fourth season the Roman can't do
- 6:27it honestly like they're going to full day with me just because
- 6:30I'm I'm a Dick, right When we win stuff I will literally abuse
- 6:33people just. All are so fans are like that.
- 6:36I think it's like, you know, I don't know why so many of my
- 6:39cousins even, you know, like they're.
- 6:41Part of. They're all corners as well, and
- 6:44they're all it's, they're all the same like, you know, every.
- 6:49All my honestly we could have been quiet as a mouse or like
- 6:53the most aggressive assholes ever, but when we win the most
- 6:56cockiest fan base. We love it, we love it.
- 7:01It's all bad and funny, right? Isn't it?
- 7:03Awesome mate, but I do wish you the best luck for Liverpool next
- 7:06season. I think the season's a bit right
- 7:08off, but you know, you've got some great talent.
- 7:11Bryce is coming in finally. Yeah, improving thinking.
- 7:15Yes, it's happening. So good luck with that.
- 7:18One last question I'm going to ask you that isn't none less.
- 7:20I'm laid and I think you might crucify for me for this, but I'm
- 7:24going to ask you. OK.
- 7:26Would you say I'm wrong for saying Guinness doesn't taste
- 7:30any different in Ireland? No, I disagree.
- 7:36I, I, I strongly, strongly disagree.
- 7:39Strongest disagreement I could give.
- 7:41Like you just can't be it. Like, you know, we do keep the
- 7:45best stuff at home and we keep the best stuff like in Dublin as
- 7:48well. And you know, and in the other
- 7:50counties. I'm from County Kilkenny, which
- 7:51is like an hour and a half from Dublin, but like you're, you're
- 7:55not going into it, you're not going into a bar there and
- 7:57getting a bad point to Guinness. Like I think, I think just then,
- 8:01you know, I think the care for like the taps and for like the
- 8:05infrastructure that brings the Guinness into the glass from the
- 8:08keg. I think it's just, you know,
- 8:10that the, the they just look after it properly.
- 8:12You know, you need to clean the pipes out regularly.
- 8:15You know, I was a barman myself, so kind of, you know, I know to
- 8:19crack with. And yeah, you just, you just
- 8:22kind of need to keep like the pipes clean and stuff like that.
- 8:24And, and I genuinely do think there is like we keep the best
- 8:28stuff at home. I don't know how it how it
- 8:30works, but I think there is a bit of that as well.
- 8:32And you know, it's hard to find a good point of Guinness over
- 8:35here. Really like.
- 8:37I I, I, I think it is, I don't really drink in this over here
- 8:40that much because it's a, it's like, I just go for a lager
- 8:44really, because I'm like, I know that an English pub is going to
- 8:46give me a better lager than it will do a stout.
- 8:49But then there is, there is my Irish pubs that do really good
- 8:52Guinnesses are like, there is, it's the Yorkshire man.
- 8:56There's a pub in Soho called like it's either Devonshire or
- 9:01the Yorkshire, Yorkshire man or something like that.
- 9:03I think it's a Devonshire, but they're meant to do really,
- 9:05really nice points. It's a Guinness in there and I
- 9:07need to go check it out myself to, to see.
- 9:10But, but as well as Guinness in Ireland, we also have like
- 9:13Beamish and we have Murphy's. So we have like different Irish
- 9:16stouts as well. And like my, my favorite site
- 9:19would be, I love that we're talking about Guinness and stay
- 9:22here now. But like my, yeah, my, my
- 9:25favorite stout is actually Murphy's.
- 9:28It's it's brewed in West Cork. So you know, it's, it's not very
- 9:32well known as a brand. Like Guinness is iconic.
- 9:35Like who, who doesn't know Guinness?
- 9:36You know, it's like the gold harp.
- 9:38It's very, very iconic, you know, So, but yeah, Murphy's is
- 9:42really good. And I, I would, I would tell you
- 9:44to try it at some stage. Have you been to Ireland?
- 9:47Well, obviously. I have, I have once to Dublin
- 9:50love. I mean, obviously, yeah, public
- 9:52violence in Northern Ireland, but just yeah, in general.
- 9:55So Dublin allied, but I thought it was really expensive.
- 9:57Yeah. So I was, yeah, a little bit
- 10:00part of it, yeah. I hear it.
- 10:01I hear it, man. And Dublin is essentially like,
- 10:04it's like London with a Irish accent.
- 10:07It's just like a big, like, you know, it's given that European
- 10:11city vibe and it's like, you know, kind of yeah.
- 10:15It's just like, it's just like very CES, like, whereas, you
- 10:18know, I come from like the sticks, like I'm like from this
- 10:22place called Kilkenny. It's like a medieval kind of a
- 10:24town. Very beautiful, so nice.
- 10:27Like like the history is crazy. It's like my dad's, my dad's a
- 10:31doctor of history. So as you can imagine, from like
- 10:33a young age, like I've been, you know, like just, yeah, head full
- 10:36of history type of a thing. And I'll give you an interesting
- 10:39fact about my hometown. So the first witch burning in
- 10:43Europe was in in my, in my hometown in Kilkenny.
- 10:46So that's that's our claim to fame.
- 10:48A little bit morbid, but but but such a, it's an interesting
- 10:51story and yeah, I'll have to tell you.
- 10:53I'll have to tell you more. I could do a whole podcast about
- 10:55Kilkeny and Guinness in Ireland if you want.
- 10:58We can we. Can do that.
- 10:59I will have you back on don't worry, Part 2 history of Ireland
- 11:03and then maybe maybe I will backtrack my comments to say it.
- 11:07It does taste different because I'm actually heading back there.
- 11:10Sorry next year again. But what I'm going to discuss
- 11:13with you is pro wrestling, and that's how I know you from.
- 11:17So please tell me, what was your introduction to the world of
- 11:22wrestling? Right, so my introduction to the
- 11:25World Wrestling, I think it was when I was about like, gosh, I,
- 11:28I think I would have been maybe about 5 or 6.
- 11:33So we're talking about like 9697.
- 11:36And I used to kind of hang around with my cousins, you
- 11:40know, like their mom and babysit me or whatever.
- 11:42And, and whenever we were over at my cousin's house, we were
- 11:46always watching football and then wrestling.
- 11:49So it was like Premier League on Saturday.
- 11:52And then like, I think we we watched Smackdown on a Saturday
- 11:56as well. Or no, the Smackdown probably
- 11:58wasn't around at that. Time maybe or.
- 12:01I can't remember exactly which one it was.
- 12:03It was definitely like WWF and but yeah, like my memory doesn't
- 12:09kind of serve me that well with that.
- 12:11But like it started at around that age, like, you know, six or
- 12:14seven. And then by 99 when Smackdown
- 12:18actually started, I had like very vivid memories of like
- 12:21Smackdown when it when it kind of when it started and, and, you
- 12:25know, and like The Rock was the reason that I got like hooked on
- 12:31it. Like I, it was just something
- 12:32about him that like he was just so charismatic and like, I think
- 12:37that my brother was like The Rock was like my brother's
- 12:39favorite wrestler as well. And, you know, you kind of look
- 12:41up to your brother and all that kind of so yes.
- 12:44And you're younger, So what you do all the time, but, you know,
- 12:46but but you kind of yeah, you take on their football team, you
- 12:49take on the wrestlers that they like.
- 12:50So, so it was The Rock that really got got me into it.
- 12:53But then there was like seeing like the Hardy Boys and Lita and
- 12:56like seeing like the Dudley Boys and like, you know, edging
- 12:59Christian. And then like all the like,
- 13:02different type of matches, like the hardcore matches, like Raven
- 13:05and hardcore matches and TLC matches and you know, street
- 13:09fights like, you know, Shane McMahon, Steve Blackman, like
- 13:12all those, kind of like that guy.
- 13:15I'd. Like you know, from I think it
- 13:18was like 99, like around that time it was definitely went
- 13:21Smackdown, like started. I became just completely
- 13:24obsessed with and The Rock got me into it, but then Eddie
- 13:28Guerrero, I just idolized Eddie Guerrero and like I loved how,
- 13:32you know, I just, I just love how we wrestled, you know, like
- 13:34the the lucha libre kind of style.
- 13:36It's just, it just really resonates with me and obviously
- 13:39been like a smaller guy and stuff as well.
- 13:41It's you know, I can, I feel like I'm I'm able to do that
- 13:45kind of stuff. So yeah.
- 13:46So so it was really the rock. And then you have like Eddie
- 13:49Guerrero and stuff like that. But then also like, you know,
- 13:53the Hardy Boys and Lita and like China and, you know, there's
- 13:56just, there's too many names. Stone Cold, Undertaker, Kate,
- 13:59like like this did. It was just a it was a Hardy,
- 14:03Yeah, right to sense. Oh my God.
- 14:05I like even. I even think their entrance
- 14:08music slaps like you know it. Was amazing like just yeah, so
- 14:13many just want to. Boo them, yeah.
- 14:16That's two minutes. Like a guy.
- 14:20Oh. My Jim Johnson.
- 14:22Fucking phenomenal. So yeah, so so that was that was
- 14:28kind of my entry into it, you know, and like, I think I just
- 14:31became obsessed like super, super quickly.
- 14:34Like absolutely obsessed with it.
- 14:36Like I just wanted to talk about it all the time.
- 14:40I had my parents gone mad buying me action figures and the little
- 14:44wrestling rings and all those kind of a things.
- 14:47Then like I got my first PlayStation Smackdown one the
- 14:51PlayStation game came out like the first console I ever had was
- 14:54a PlayStation. So I'm always been kind of a
- 14:57Sony guy in terms of like, you know, a gaming equipment and and
- 15:00then and, and yeah, like basically just like the
- 15:03Smackdown games, you could create a wrestler.
- 15:05I'd always like create myself and stuff.
- 15:08And that like fed into the dream of like wanting to become a
- 15:11wrestler. And like from from a very young
- 15:13age, I was like, I just want to be a wrestler.
- 15:14I don't want to do anything else.
- 15:16And like I would tell everyone, anyone that would ask me, like
- 15:19aunts, uncles, like, you know, my parents and told them until
- 15:22they were blue in the face. So I think my parents always
- 15:26they always wanted me to like pursue education as like, you
- 15:29know, make sure you go to college, make sure you have a
- 15:31degree, you know, that kind of like old school, kind of like
- 15:34thinking. I say, you know that that
- 15:35that's. Still with the best interest in
- 15:37you in your. Future yeah, absolutely.
- 15:39They were like, yeah, you can do whatever the hell you want,
- 15:41just, you know, get your degree 1st and then then you can do
- 15:44whatever you want to do. Like, you know, at least if, if,
- 15:47if the wrestling thing falls true, you have something that
- 15:50you can go back to, you know, like you're always going to have
- 15:52that degree behind you. No one can ever take that away
- 15:55from you. So.
- 15:56So that was it. And like I, I wrestled, I think
- 15:59like the very first time I got into a wrestling ring was it was
- 16:03N.W.A Ireland, actually. And yeah, yeah.
- 16:07So this is way back in the day. And I can't even remember who
- 16:11the trainers were. Like it wasn't like Finn Balor
- 16:15or Anton was there, but it was a school that Finn trained that.
- 16:19And you know what, like I wish I could go back in time now and
- 16:21look through my own eyes when I was that age because there must
- 16:25have been like someone there like, you know, like maybe Becky
- 16:27Lynch or I, I don't know, like it like you just you just never
- 16:31know. But but I was, I was probably
- 16:33about like 14 when I did my first kind of class there.
- 16:37And me and one of my best friends from school, like we
- 16:39were just he was also as obsessed with wrestling as I
- 16:42was. So his dad agreed to bring us to
- 16:45like this two out two and 1/2 hour drive to this wrestling
- 16:48school, like way far away from where we were living and, and
- 16:53you know it, it just wasn't feasible for us to be able to do
- 16:56that regularly. Like we didn't have like someone
- 16:59that would be able to like give up a whole day on on a Saturday
- 17:02to drive his open back to, to, to Wicklow to to where the
- 17:05school was. But that was my first at like
- 17:08that was my, my first time in a ring.
- 17:10And I remember getting in and like they were like just showing
- 17:13us like back bumps and side bumps and what have you and, and
- 17:17I and I really was trying to impress them.
- 17:20So I just like jumping up like really high.
- 17:22Extra Life. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 17:24I started, I couldn't walk for a week after it, but like, but
- 17:28yes, that was the first introduction.
- 17:29And then like it kind of it kind of just like, you know, it was
- 17:34always a big love of mine, but it just wasn't feasible.
- 17:36I didn't have a school or a way, a means of training and, and
- 17:41continuing that. So it wasn't until I came over
- 17:44here that I got involved with, with Lucha Britannia.
- 17:49This is when Lucha Britannia was at the Red Skull.
- 17:51So, you know, I was trained by Greg Burridge and Greg still
- 17:54trains me to this day. And then Gary Vanderhorn as well
- 17:58and the both coaches are at Lucha Britannia and, and, and
- 18:02that was where it really all kind of kicked off.
- 18:04Like that's, that's when I started focusing on it properly.
- 18:09You know, I trained for a few years with, with Lucha Britannia
- 18:13and I eventually had like an Irish Rover character, which is,
- 18:17you know, it's, it was kind of like my first ever gimmick.
- 18:20And I, I love playing into the Irish thing, don't I?
- 18:23You know, I love playing into the scrappy Irish kind of vibe.
- 18:27So, so, so, you know, I did that for, for a bit, but, but kind of
- 18:31never really focused on it, never really gave it the
- 18:34attention. It may be deserved because I was
- 18:36in university and I had other things were kind of getting in
- 18:39the way, like relationships. I obviously had a job and stuff
- 18:41as well. And you know, it's expensive
- 18:44living in London and, and then when you're studying over here
- 18:46as an immigrant and stuff as well, it's like, you know, it's
- 18:49obviously, you know, it can be quite, quite expensive.
- 18:52So, so it kind of like, you know, it plateaued a little bit.
- 18:56I had a really bad injury When, when was that?
- 19:00In 2019 I broke my hip. So yeah.
- 19:03So that, that was, that was annoying.
- 19:06So I was, I, I went broken hip for like 2 years because it
- 19:09didn't heal properly and ultimately I had to get surgery.
- 19:12So from 2019 to like 2021, I was like just battered and and it
- 19:20was just exactly, but then, you know, like I've kind of come
- 19:25back to it now again. And I train at Bridge Flight
- 19:29Design, which is involved from so central.
- 19:32We train every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- 19:35Sometimes I think there's a Saturday class as well.
- 19:37But yeah, I just appreciate Greg so much, you know, like he has
- 19:41just like he's, he's made me fall in love with wrestling
- 19:45again, you know, and like, and I'm just like doing the shows.
- 19:49Like you've obviously seen the shows Emporium and and whatnot.
- 19:52Like, you know, they're just like, I just love it.
- 19:55Like I love what, what, what what, Greg.
- 19:57They are just fun. They're just.
- 19:59Really good crack, you know, like and Ryan and Robin like and
- 20:02everyone in in the school is is all got a part in that show and
- 20:06and whatnot. But but you know, it's yeah,
- 20:08it's it's just amazing. Like I'm just so grateful to
- 20:10people like Ryan and Greg that, you know, they've, they give us.
- 20:13This opportunity and, you know, and I've never loved it more
- 20:17than I've loved it before. I've never loved a character
- 20:19more than I love like last orders O'Keefe, you know, it's
- 20:21just like an extension of myself.
- 20:23Like so I like the pint, you know, and, and and I love like,
- 20:27you know. I serve a pint at the end of the
- 20:28last show. I was like, they come in the
- 20:30show, just like I'll definitely come in the show.
- 20:34Mate, Definitely definitely and I love like a bit like mixed
- 20:37martial arts and like you know like you know, I mean any type
- 20:40of mixed martial art. I love you know I'm really big
- 20:42UFC fan and but but but but I just I just love all kind of
- 20:47fighting sports like or even like you know, we've got like
- 20:50what what movie is coming out now?
- 20:51Is it like Street Fighter is coming out soon?
- 20:53Isn't it I? Cannot wait for it.
- 20:55Yeah. And $0.50.
- 20:58Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:00It's so like, like these kind of things like Mortal Kombat like
- 21:03though I'm, I'm always interested in those kind of, you
- 21:06know, like these kind of movies. Anything that's involving
- 21:08scrapping. Just a few things I want to,
- 21:12that's it to what you said. First of all, I want you to tell
- 21:15me the best advice you received from Greg Burridge.
- 21:19I hear nothing but great things about that man.
- 21:23I've met him. He's a very cool guy.
- 21:25I've had previous podcasts to discuss important progress,
- 21:27which I'm going to touch on because you've had one hell of a
- 21:30rise there. But just tell me first of all,
- 21:33the best advice Greg has given you, or something that Greg's
- 21:37said to you that you've reincorporated into your
- 21:41wrestling. Yeah, so, so something that that
- 21:45that kind of Greg would would have said, you know, and you
- 21:49still would say to this day. And and it came from a guy who
- 21:52used to wrestle actually Lucha Britannia.
- 21:54His name is Mike, and he passed away quite a few years ago.
- 21:57But it was shy. Kids get no sweets.
- 22:01So, you know, like if, if you, if you wanted, you gotta ask for
- 22:06it. Like you gotta like, you gotta
- 22:07put an effort. You gotta give it your odds, you
- 22:10know? So like for him, it's just kind
- 22:13of like I, I I think to translate it like for me, it's
- 22:16like just don't let anything hold you back.
- 22:18Don't let like fear, don't let anxiety, don't let like what you
- 22:23think other people are thinking or whatever holds you back.
- 22:25Just go for it. Just like give it your
- 22:27knowledge. You know what I mean?
- 22:27And and like, and I think that's the thing with last orders
- 22:30O'Keefe as well. Like, you know, I've, I kind of,
- 22:32I I'm just out there. He's a really out there kind of
- 22:35character. But like, you know, Greg will
- 22:36say, go more, do more like, like bring him out further, you know,
- 22:40so bring more the Irishness into it.
- 22:42Do a little, a little jig and a reel, you know, a little dance.
- 22:44So have you So, so, so I think that that that sticks out my
- 22:49mind has been like probably the best advice I, I have received.
- 22:53But like, like, you know, I've wrestled with the guy for 12
- 22:56years. So there's been years upon years
- 22:58upon years of like amazing kind of advice and support, you know,
- 23:03And actually I, I did for my final year piece, like at
- 23:08university, I did a documentary called Lucha Britannia and me,
- 23:13it's on YouTube. I'll share the link with you
- 23:15afterwards. You can see that.
- 23:18And that's like back in the day, that's like 12 years ago, you
- 23:20had people like Malik, you know, you know, Malik, the heavy
- 23:23hitter. He he, he's, you'll see him in
- 23:25that. Malik is a really good friend of
- 23:27mine and got a stag do in April, actually.
- 23:30So looking forward to that. And and then and then and then
- 23:34and then, yeah, like hostile, like, you know.
- 23:37Yeah, you'll see. You'll see some familiar faces.
- 23:39Actually, if you look at that, at that documentary, I think you
- 23:41might see like Sam Allen, a bit of Cassius and stuff like that.
- 23:45So yeah, really, Really. Yeah.
- 23:49Good times man. I'll don't forgive it a watch,
- 23:51mate. Important Pro Wrestling.
- 23:53So you've made a name for yourself there.
- 23:57I saw you for the first time. I was very impressed and John's
- 24:01mental as well. With Important Pro Wrestling.
- 24:03You actually opened the match for the first show.
- 24:05Yeah, the eliminate match and the second show, Six man tag and
- 24:10then the most recent show, the third one, because there's going
- 24:13to be more shows. I'm not going to say final show
- 24:15use in the fucking main event. Yeah.
- 24:17Tell me about this twice. Tell me about the Point Pro
- 24:19Wrestling. I mean, the venue's great from
- 24:21me being a fan. Genesis Cinema's great.
- 24:24It's really easy to get to and you can track with the rest is
- 24:28after. You can drink during the show.
- 24:30You can, you literally have a good time if there's one match
- 24:34you don't like. OK, cool.
- 24:35Second match. I'm gonna like this one though.
- 24:37The characters so easy to like and so easy to Boo.
- 24:40Snyder Brothers scared the shit out of me a little bit.
- 24:44They're so good. Like, yeah, they are.
- 24:47Yeah, no, the sliders are great. Like I love, I love working with
- 24:50them in the in the second show, you know, and, and and they're
- 24:53just like, they're just so like they're just so easy to hate,
- 24:56aren't they? Like just.
- 24:57You know, I don't have little podcasts.
- 25:00Yeah, just yeah, you do honestly, they're they're
- 25:02they're great. But but yeah, they're about
- 25:04really, you know, they're both great guys as well.
- 25:07Like, you know, behind, behind all that, like, and and yeah,
- 25:11and, and honestly, like we, we love this show.
- 25:13Like I'm I'm so happy that this has come around, you know, and,
- 25:17and, and long may it last, man. Like this is, this is just just
- 25:21the beginning. Like we've only literally had
- 25:22three shows. But like, you know, like I, I
- 25:25just, I'm so grateful as well for the opportunity for to be
- 25:30put intimate into the main event.
- 25:31Like, you know, like the very first show I ever did with Greg,
- 25:34actually, he put me in the main event against Malik.
- 25:37It was when we had a promotion called London Looter League.
- 25:42So it was kind of like a little spinoff of Lucha Britannia,
- 25:45basically. So Greg gave me an opportunity.
- 25:49Like this is the second time that Greg has put me in that
- 25:51position. And, you know, it's all down to
- 25:53like, to him. Like I'm just so grateful that
- 25:56like you think of me so highly to even put me into that kind of
- 25:59position and. And, and yeah, yeah, man, like I
- 26:03love it. Like, you know, for me, it's
- 26:04just like wrestling is just like, look, you know, I have my
- 26:0895 job. It's expensive living in London.
- 26:10Like, you know, and I'm really passionate by what I do.
- 26:12I do freelance producing. So like, you know, I work on
- 26:15like shoots and like behind the scenes and clip based stuff and,
- 26:19you know, all all that kind of world in, in in media.
- 26:22But and but yeah, I just, you know, I, I, I, I love wrestling.
- 26:26And for me it just has to be like at this stage especially,
- 26:30it's just about having to crack, you know, like I just want to
- 26:33have fun. And like, for me, wrestling has
- 26:36always been like, just like fun and like an escape, like
- 26:40something I can do that. Like, just like I just lose
- 26:43myself in wrestling. Like, you know, I don't think of
- 26:45anything else. Like if I'm having relationship
- 26:49drama or like life drama or anything like that, like
- 26:53sometimes I'll be in just like a terrible mood and like I'll go
- 26:56down to like Greg school and see all, all the lads and all, you
- 27:01know, all the guys and the girls in there and like just just you,
- 27:04just I just become silly. I don't know what it is.
- 27:06I just become like last orders O'Keefe and like, I just like
- 27:09I'm kind of just getting all the energy and the, the, the vibe,
- 27:13the bad vibes out from the dates, you know, so, so for me,
- 27:17wrestling is sad. Like wrestling is like it's,
- 27:19it's, it's something that I do that like I love and I want to
- 27:23have a bit crack with it. I want it to be fun.
- 27:25I want to make people laugh. I want to make myself laugh.
- 27:28I want to have really cool matches and I want to do more
- 27:30cool stuff and show off my move set to people.
- 27:34And yeah, I want to get involved in more hardcore matches and
- 27:36stuff as well, actually, because I I do love a little bit of
- 27:39violence. I think anyone who wrestles has
- 27:42to love a little bit of violence.
- 27:44So but but yeah, so, so that that is that's it.
- 27:47It's for me. It's like, you know, it's all
- 27:50about having fun, but I'm just so I'm so grateful to be given
- 27:53these opportunities that, you know, that that emporium that
- 27:56they give us. So yeah, we've, we've definitely
- 27:59got more to come in terms of news.
- 28:02There will be, there will be a show very, very soon, but I got
- 28:06away until you know, until the buses say we're we're able to
- 28:11we're able to promote and release information about it.
- 28:16That's cool man, if they do want to find out when important
- 28:19process is having this show, just give them a search on such
- 28:22media, point progress in and keep up to date with the news
- 28:26announcement. One last question for you mate
- 28:28and then I'll let you enjoy the rest of your day.
- 28:30I was going to say different time and stuff, but we're
- 28:32actually in the same time zone which is nice.
- 28:35A few guests. I've had 50 before you have been
- 28:38in America, so I don't know. In Australia as well.
- 28:41Actually Australia, but he was an American but in Australia.
- 28:45So I'm just kind of 1. So 3 dream dinner guests for
- 28:49your dream party. This doesn't have to be rest and
- 28:51related. Dead or alive, past or present,
- 28:54fictional non fiction teammate, anyone?
- 28:573 guests quick reason. That's why you went to there.
- 28:59Give me #1 mate. Oh God.
- 29:02OK 1st guest I'm having is Eddie Guerrero.
- 29:08Like, I don't know if I spoke as much about him as I wanted to
- 29:12because like, I just like I love daddy so much, like, you know,
- 29:17just just his personality and like his how he wrestles and
- 29:21like, you know, when when he came back with Chavito and they
- 29:24did the you know, I lie, I cheat, I steal, Oh my God, lost.
- 29:28Guerreras man, it's fantastic and.
- 29:30I, I was so upset when he passed away like my, like my, my
- 29:35parents had to keep me home from school when I found out he
- 29:38passed away because man, I was, I was like, I was just in tears
- 29:42like I was just like so upset. It still hurts me to this day.
- 29:45That one, you know what I mean. He was stolen from us too soon,
- 29:48far too soon. Like Bunk in school, off to meet
- 29:51him at Ilford. Woolworths was the best thing I
- 29:54did. So you met him?
- 29:56Go on my Instagram page after his interview.
- 29:59It's one of my pin posts. So I did like a 20 year
- 30:01anniversary post for him. No way.
- 30:03And I met him six months before he died, very friendly, very
- 30:07nice. It was a very quick interaction
- 30:09casino, you get those like official meet and greet WE when
- 30:11they come over here, it's like 2 wrestlers on the table and then
- 30:14you sign an official WE merch and stuff like that.
- 30:16So I met him. So I actually had to bunk 2
- 30:18days. So the first day I bunk was to
- 30:20get the ticket and then I went next day and I went my own.
- 30:23I was 15. I was a little bit nervous, you
- 30:24know, going offered and training, you know, damn kids
- 30:27still. But it's so worth a mate.
- 30:29And I actually chose the thing was John Cena.
- 30:30I didn't mean anything right? And at the time people were like
- 30:33what the fuck are you doing there?
- 30:34He's a world champion and stuff like that.
- 30:36I was not daddy man. That's crazy because that must
- 30:39have been like nearer around the tour that I went to see.
- 30:41Like I am. I basically I got to see Cena
- 30:45and Guerrero, like I got to see Guerrero wrestle.
- 30:48So I'm just so happy about that. Like it was way back in the day
- 30:52God, like I think it was like 2000 and was when did daddy?
- 30:55Pass. So when they feud, I think it
- 30:57would be 2003. So it might be 2003 to 4:00 on
- 31:00that part. Yeah, sounds about right to me.
- 31:02And yeah, gosh, like it was. Yeah, it was, it was amazing
- 31:06seeing him, you know, like I was open the nosebleeds and, you
- 31:09know, some gaffing in Dublin watching it.
- 31:11But but it was, yeah, it was life changing.
- 31:14So that's so Eddie, Eddie #1 and #2 I've got to bring Greg
- 31:19Burridge, but I want Greg to come as the Poker 1.
- 31:21And so you know, I don't know if you remember asking me.
- 31:25Greg Burridge, but the poker one.
- 31:27Yeah, exactly. So, you know, he'd be the life
- 31:30of Annie Parksy. And then the third one, gosh,
- 31:37who am I bringing as me turds? I'll go on Becky Lynch.
- 31:41I've got to bring an Irish person in.
- 31:43And you know, it's between Becky and Finn.
- 31:46I think I just want to meet Becky a little bit more.
- 31:48I probably like maybe met Finn like sometime back in the day
- 31:52when when I was maybe at that school and didn't realize it.
- 31:55But but yeah, I I have like just so much respect for Becky and
- 32:00for Finn and any person not to put an Irish wrestling on the
- 32:02map. Obviously you have to you can't
- 32:04talk about them. I talk about Seamus.
- 32:06But but I think, you know, like, seeing what Becky has done is
- 32:11just amazing, man. And like, you know, for for me
- 32:14to see an Irish woman lift the two titles at WrestleMania main
- 32:17event, first ever all women's main event, like iconic, man.
- 32:22She is, you know, she is, she is the best in the world.
- 32:26And it's not just me saying it. So yeah.
- 32:30Joyce, Right? Becky Lynch, Greg Barvage.
- 32:32PAC1 and Eddie Gray. All right, I love it, mate.
- 32:36Make an interest book, by the way, if you get a chance to
- 32:37listen to it. The audio version.
- 32:39The audio. Version.
- 32:41I really easy listen. It's also it's read by it's done
- 32:44by her as well. Sometimes it's not by that, then
- 32:47try again. Sometimes it's not done by them,
- 32:48but with her it's quite funny. And, you know, I mean, it's sad
- 32:51stories, but it's also like fun stories.
- 32:53But the it's also a journey into her personal life and her
- 32:58resting career. And you see how she got where
- 33:01she is now, why we talk about her in such a high, you know, in
- 33:05a highway. I'm going to wrap up the
- 33:07interview. What's that mate?
- 33:09No, I was just saying I need to get back into reading like
- 33:11wrestling books, you know, Like, you know, I've obviously read
- 33:14Eddie's and Shawn Michaels and a few of them and.
- 33:17Not read Eddie's book. Have you not?
- 33:20No, I've read quite a lot of them.
- 33:21Shawn's of Ed. I thought Shawn was the right,
- 33:23but I've not read Eddie's book. I think at the time I just
- 33:26couldn't find it and then I just kind of forgot and it's one of
- 33:29the book. I have one.
- 33:29Here I can give you. A lens and give Appreciate
- 33:32appreciate it find find the post though.
- 33:35I'll send it to you after the interview.
- 33:37But mate, where can the fans find you on social media?

- 34:04there and stuff like that. And and yeah, obviously you'll
- 34:07see, you'll see some updates about when, when Emporium and

- 34:39year. But thank coming on mate,
- 34:41everyone take care, enjoy your weekend.
