- 1:02Sean McAllister: Las Vegas' 2021 visitor numbers are just in.
- 1:06Sean McAllister: How did it compare to the 2019 numbers pre-pandemic?
- 1:10Sean McAllister: We've got answers today.
- 1:12Dayna Roselli: Bailey's is going through a transformation and it will have a new name.
- 1:16Dayna Roselli: A familiar name, in fact.
- 1:18Sean McAllister: And Katy Perry is ready for more playtime on the strip.
- 1:22Sean McAllister: And by now we all know Adele canceled, but we also know it's time to move on.
- 1:28Dayna Roselli: Who's stepping in to fill some spots and what's happened since the announcement?
- 1:33Sean McAllister: It's all now on Vegas Revealed.
- 1:35Sean McAllister: Spin that wheel.
- 1:46Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed episode 103.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: Hey everyone, it's Dana Roselli along with Sean McAllister.
- 1:54Sean McAllister: How's it going?
- 1:54Sean McAllister: It's been a busy week, Dana.
- 1:56Dayna Roselli: It has.
- 1:56Dayna Roselli: We actually dropped last week's podcast a little early because that big Adele announcement came out.
- 2:01Sean McAllister: And man, we've been rolling in the deep with rumors and announcements and reports that have all come out stemming from that.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: We sure have.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: And we're going to talk about that in a little bit.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: And we won't go on and on about it because we kind of feel like everyone's moving on and they're over it.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: But it's it's a hot topic.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: So we'll get to that in a minute.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: But first we want to talk about the visitor numbers because, you know, we have so many people that live here and visit Las Vegas that listen to the podcast, they're always interested to see what our visitor numbers are.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: And you know what?
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: Pretty good for 2021.
- 2:33Dayna Roselli: The whole year's numbers came out and we had 32 million visitors.
- 2:36Sean McAllister: Wow, that's pretty good.
- 2:37Sean McAllister: Hey, if you're listening and you did come to Las Vegas, uh, or you live here and you have family or friends who came in, we extend a big old thank you because visitors are what make this town tick.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: Well, in 2020, where obviously it was a very rough year, we were even shut down for a while, we only had 19 million visitors.
- 2:56Dayna Roselli: So we're obviously up from 2020.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: But when you look back at 2019, which was kind of pre-pandemic, really, the full year there, um, not bad compared to then.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: Apparently, we had 42 million visitors in 2019.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 3:11Dayna Roselli: So that 32 million for 2021, there's down about 24%.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: So not bad.
- 3:17Sean McAllister: We're getting back up to those pre-pandemic levels, which is a good sign.
- 3:22Sean McAllister: It's a good sign for recovery.
- 3:24Sean McAllister: And you know, I will say it's probably a good thing that we're not back at a hundred percent yet.
- 3:31Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:31Sean McAllister: Because we've been having such a hard time here in Las Vegas and really across the country, staffing jobs to accommodate a mass crowd like that.
- 3:44Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:44Dayna Roselli: No, a good point, good point.
- 3:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 3:46Sean McAllister: Mass capacity, that's what I was trying to say.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:49Dayna Roselli: And then we don't want people, you know, when you come here, we want the experience to be amazing, where you're not like, oh, when you go to Vegas, the service is awful.
- 3:56Dayna Roselli: So we want to make sure we're up to staff and all that kind of thing.
- 3:58Dayna Roselli: But you know, people have been sick lately and calling out sick, so staff numbers have been low.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: Um, people aren't um, you know, working the same jobs, they're shifting and moving around.
- 4:08Dayna Roselli: So we do have a lot of jobs open in Las Vegas right now.
- 4:11Dayna Roselli: So if anyone's looking to move here, which we hear often that people are, it's a good time.
- 4:16Sean McAllister: And casinos are hiring.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: The Palms is about to open up uh this spring, yeah, and they're hiring for jobs property wide, so lots of opportunity here in Las Vegas.
- 4:28Sean McAllister: But I guarantee if you went for a job interview, chances are you'd be a serious contender.
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 4:35Dayna Roselli: No, good point, good point.
- 4:37Dayna Roselli: We did a podcast on moving here and all the different, you know, things you need to know that you might not know, and we got a great response from that.
- 4:43Dayna Roselli: So, yeah.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: So if you're looking to move here, listen to podcast number.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: What was it?
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: It wasn't a good one.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: That was two ago.
- 4:50Sean McAllister: Two podcasts.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: Was it so 101?
- 4:52Sean McAllister: 101, maybe.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: Uh 101 or 100.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 4:55Sean McAllister: Uh, but if you do move here, be prepared to pay some pretty hefty prices for for housing.
- 5:02Sean McAllister: If you're looking to buy, uh it's a competitive market still.
- 5:07Sean McAllister: Um and rental prices are still high.
- 5:09Sean McAllister: If you're coming from California, I guess you have cash in your pocket if you sold your place there.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 5:15Dayna Roselli: Um, speaking of cash, we got some gaming numbers too, right?
- 5:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is pretty impressive too.
- 5:20Sean McAllister: I know we're talking about, you know, visitor numbers getting back to pre-pandemic levels.
- 5:26Sean McAllister: Well, uh the gaming numbers, and we're talking when I talk gaming numbers, I'm talking about uh the amount of money that casinos have won off of gaming.
- 5:37Sean McAllister: So they t obviously take in your money when you're putting it in the slot machine, and that's weighed against how much they have to pay out.
- 5:44Sean McAllister: Well, casinos have been winning a heck of a lot more than they've been paying out because uh just in December, Nevada casinos, and this is statewide, won one point one five billion dollars in gaming wins.
- 6:00Sean McAllister: Wow, which is incredible.
- 6:01Sean McAllister: It is the tenth straight month of one billion or more house winnings.
- 6:07Sean McAllister: Incredible numbers.
- 6:08Dayna Roselli: Incredible numbers.
- 6:09Sean McAllister: And that is uh in 2021, the house winnings was 13.4 billion, a record number.
- 6:17Sean McAllister: Uh that is 1.4 billion more than 2019, which was pre-pandemic.
- 6:23Sean McAllister: So remember before the pandemic, there was this big thing, oh, people are coming to Las Vegas, but they're not gambling as much.
- 6:30Sean McAllister: Well, apparently the pandemic changed people's mindset on gambling because people are coming here and they are dropping it.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: I know we talk about that all the time.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: Like, what's the deal?
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: Because I think people who struggled through the pandemic look at things like that and go, like, who like cause even when you go like shopping at some of like say Crystals or Caesars uh forum shops, there's lines to get into these luxury stores now, right?
- 6:57Sean McAllister: Louis Vuitton always has a line.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: So it's like what where how do people have all this money?
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: It didn't they suffer?
- 7:03Dayna Roselli: But there was like a there was like literally like a split.
- 7:06Dayna Roselli: It was like the people who had money didn't lose money and didn't use money, right?
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: So now they got all this money.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: So, and then the people who did struggle, you know, obviously are working to rebuild that.
- 7:19Dayna Roselli: Then there's others who took unemployment and maybe made more than they did at their job.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: I don't know, but anyway, they're taking a lot of that money in their gaming.
- 7:29Sean McAllister: Well, and I think that there could have been like a mind shift too, like during this pandemic period where people kind of re-evaluated things and said, Hey, you know what?
- 7:39Sean McAllister: Life is short.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: You know, if you're not living it and and pushing it and gambling, gambling it, literally getting it.
- 7:46Sean McAllister: Taking a risk, um, you know what's it all for?
- 7:49Sean McAllister: You know, things we could lose it all at the drop of a hat.
- 7:54Sean McAllister: So let's live while we have time to live, and that's what people are doing it when they're coming here to Vegas.
- 8:00Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 8:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, great numbers.
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: So I mean, things seem to be just uh kicking in Las Vegas, and it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: Well, and something that doesn't seem to be starting anytime soon is Adele's residency, which was supposed to start last weekend.
- 8:18Sean McAllister: We had that news that she just kind of called off the dates, rescheduling everything.
- 8:24Sean McAllister: Maybe.
- 8:24Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 8:25Sean McAllister: There's a question mark after that now.
- 8:26Sean McAllister: There is.
- 8:27Sean McAllister: Um, but there's been a lot that's come out since we had that breaking news in episode 102.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: Well, you know, and we, you know, we pet we played you the the she had that emotional video.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: It was a different way of kind of announcing such a big reschedule.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: Um at first, you know, everyone was really feeling it, and then now everyone's been absorbing it.
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: And, you know, to be honest, it's like I almost feel like everyone's just kind of over it and ready to move on.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's kind of how I feel.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: Like, all right, she canceled the emotional video.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: A bunch of the fans were upset about it, which I totally get.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: Um, but now it's like, all right, well, now we're just, you know, in pure Vegas fashion.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: We just figure out how to fix the problem and move on.
- 9:07Sean McAllister: Ready to move on.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 9:09Dayna Roselli: And uh they must have called up Keith Urban because Keith, uh, you know, is filling just two weekends that were, but you know, here's the deal.
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: She was supposed to go January all the way through April, which is every single weekend.
- 9:20Dayna Roselli: And now that those shows aren't taking place, there's holes in the Coliseum's schedule, like major holes.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: So Keith Urban is taking two of the weekends, I think it's April and March, um, to do some extra shows added on to what he already had planned.
- 9:36Dayna Roselli: I think it was Memorial Day in uh May.
- 9:38Dayna Roselli: So that's cool of Keith, but I can only imagine they're looking for more people to fill those weekends.
- 9:43Sean McAllister: I mean, the scramble is on to try and and get entertainers who are already on the roster, maybe to come back and do additional dates um or to find one-off performers to come in and do some dates at the Coliseum.
- 9:59Sean McAllister: But the hard thing about that is usually you have uh several months from the time that a show is announced until uh the performance actually happens.
- 10:11Sean McAllister: And that allows for people to buy tickets, especially people who are out of town, to buy tickets for the show, plan their travel, get here, go see the show.
- 10:23Sean McAllister: When we're announcing within a few weeks, really, is what we're looking at.
- 10:29Sean McAllister: That cuts down on the ability for people to buy tickets and book travel at an affordable rate and get here to enjoy, you know, whatever performer is booked.
- 10:40Sean McAllister: So it really is a tough spot for Caesars.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: It really is, and you know, she's trying her best to make up with her fans, and what I mean is, you know, give them something because a lot of people flew here already, they were mid-flight.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: She didn't announce the cancellation or reschedule until the last minute, which really frustrated a lot of people because they spent a lot of money to come here.
- 11:01Dayna Roselli: Now you'll see both sides.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: She FaceTimed a bunch of fans, she she found them all, or her team did on TikTok that were putting, you know, videos up saying how disappointed they were.
- 11:10Dayna Roselli: DM'd them and said, come down to the gift shop at Caesars.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: They meant that she FaceTimed everyone.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: She seemed to get a lot of support from that.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: Some say it was worth it, that was everything to them.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: Others are going, yeah, I don't care if you FaceTime me or not.
- 11:24Dayna Roselli: I came to see a show, put on the damn show.
- 11:27Dayna Roselli: Um, others saying I'm not coming back because it's not that easy to just, you know, even if I get my money back or I float my ticket, I used all this vacation time, I can't get it back.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: I'm sitting here at Caesars, and maybe I didn't really want to come to Vegas for any other reason than to see Adele, and now I'm like here for three days with you know, so it's it's tough.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, and these FaceTime calls, they may or may not have appeased the fans who lost out so big.
- 11:57Sean McAllister: But all the while that was happening, all these reports were coming out with some behind the scenes gossip, really, yeah, about uh what was happening and the real reasons uh supposedly, reportedly, for uh all these dates being pulled.
- 12:14Sean McAllister: So, Dana, do you want to give us a rundown?
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: Sure.
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: Should we do rumor has it?
- 12:18Dayna Roselli: All right, these are rumors.
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: A lot of people talking to newspapers, a lot of people firing off on social media and Twitter, a lot of people we know that know someone that are involved in the show.
- 12:30Dayna Roselli: So uh, but here's a bunch of things that have just been put out there.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: Uh someone saying the the sets were very big and extravagant and uh things were just not ready.
- 12:39Dayna Roselli: She wanted to do, I think I even saw like there was supposed to be like she was gonna walk on water or something.
- 12:43Sean McAllister: She had something planned with a pool, like a 10,000 gallon lake or something.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, something like that.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: Um apparently her costumes didn't arrive.
- 12:51Dayna Roselli: Okay, because remember she said there were shipping delays.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: Uh-huh.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: So a little apparently maybe some honesty to that.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: Um, she wanted to revamp the Coliseum sound system.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: I saw that, which is crazy because they just redid it.
- 13:04Dayna Roselli: It's like state of the art.
- 13:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, I've got a lot to say about that, but I won't.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: Then there was talk about relationship troubles.
- 13:10Dayna Roselli: Her mind wasn't in it, that she was having relationship uh troubles with her boyfriend.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: Um I I've heard uh things like um she had tried to call it off a week or two before, but you know, the Coliseum was like, no, we have it on the schedule, you need to move forward.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: And apparently she was doing rehearsals in like Fresno, California or something like that.
- 13:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, which is weird.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's weird too, right?
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: So those are just like a slew of different things that have come out.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: We cannot guarantee any of them are 100% true, but in Vegas, usually when people talk, it's usually about 75% true.
- 13:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, so any uh possibility of these dates being rescheduled is TBD right now.
- 13:49Sean McAllister: If it happens, when it happens, we'll certainly let you know.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: But one thing that we do know is happening is a big resort on the Las Vegas Strip is taking on a new identity.
- 14:01Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 14:01Dayna Roselli: I thought this was interesting, right?
- 14:02Dayna Roselli: It's just we were like boom in our inbox.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: So Bailey's Las Vegas, which has been there a long time, is gonna become the horseshoe Las Vegas.
- 14:12Dayna Roselli: It's a pretty quick turn, too.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: They're starting construction in the spring, and then they're expecting it to be done by the end of 2022.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: So they have, you know, renovations taking place, uh, but doesn't sound like it's like major, major construction overhaul.
- 14:27Sean McAllister: Right.
- 14:28Sean McAllister: And uh horseshoe, it kind of throws back, obviously, Bally's is the new home of the World Series of Poker.
- 14:36Sean McAllister: And Binion's Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas was the original home of the World Series of Poker.
- 14:43Sean McAllister: So I guess the renaming, having the horseshoe branding on the property does kind of throw it back to a different era of of gaming.
- 14:54Sean McAllister: And, you know, with the World Series of Poker, it brings that that history, that nostalgia along with it to rebrand the property.
- 15:02Sean McAllister: Um it was just a little, like we said, unexpected for this announcement to happen.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: Well, and like you had mentioned, I was reading some quotes from the general manager of the property who apparently horseshoe, it's all about the gambler.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: So they focus big on gaming, like you said.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: You know, and like the poker background and all that kind of thing.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: So yeah, it was just thrown out there, like you said.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: We were like, wait, what?
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: Um, but apparently they're just gonna renovate the exterior, they're gonna add some new entertainment and food and beverage options, and then they're gonna reimagine the casino floor in some of the public areas, too.
- 15:32Sean McAllister: All right.
- 15:33Sean McAllister: So nothing like crazy.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: Well, listen, I'm a McAllister.
- 15:36Sean McAllister: I have long Irish roots.
- 15:38Sean McAllister: Putting a horseshoe above the doorway is good luck.
- 15:41Sean McAllister: Okay, good.
- 15:42Sean McAllister: For us Irishmen.
- 15:43Sean McAllister: So hopefully the horseshoe above the property is good luck for for anyone who enters the doors.
- 15:48Sean McAllister: Good luck.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it'll be the horseshoe, which it could probably have a really cool sign, right?
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: Oh, you know, a sparkly horseshoe.
- 15:55Sean McAllister: And I hope it's a I hope it's nice and and neon and not just like LED kind of stuff.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: I know.
- 16:01Sean McAllister: Let's keep it vintage, let's bring back the neon.
- 16:03Sean McAllister: That's true.
- 16:04Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 16:05Dayna Roselli: All right, so again, the end of 2022, we will have uh the horseshoe Las Vegas on the Las Vegas strip.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: They call it the 50 yard line, Sean, where Bailey's is.
- 16:15Sean McAllister: It is like right there.
- 16:17Sean McAllister: Flamingo.
- 16:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 16:20Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:21Sean McAllister: Well, if that's a 50-yard line, let's shift toward one of the end zones of Las Vegas Boulevard down to resorts world, Dana.
- 16:27Sean McAllister: There have been some changes happening.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: You and I noticed like a bunch of different, you know, things uh that we've seen on social media and emails coming out and shifts in management, shifts in uh a lot of the employees, some people leaving, uh, some people coming on.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: But I feel like that's probably what happens after a property opens anyway, once you start figuring things out.
- 16:50Dayna Roselli: And I don't know.
- 16:51Dayna Roselli: I mean, I'm not sure, but you know, a lot of people talking about like, hey, what's going on over at Resorts World?
- 16:56Dayna Roselli: It seems like, you know, it's kind of unsettled, but I think that they're just finding their way.
- 16:59Dayna Roselli: And you know, I'm gonna be there this week and I have a friend staying there who's visiting, so um, I'll report back next week if I notice any anything different.
- 17:07Dayna Roselli: But it seems like it's business as usual when it comes to the shows, though, because Katie Perry's adding dates.
- 17:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, she's just added uh 16 new dates for her play residency over there at Resorts World.
- 17:19Sean McAllister: It just opened up um and already adding dates through the summer.
- 17:23Sean McAllister: These uh additional dates are May through August, and that's in addition to the already previously announced shows that are happening through March.
- 17:33Sean McAllister: Um, those tickets are on sale as of this weekend, talking about like January 29th-ish, the tickets are going on sale for those added dates.
- 17:42Sean McAllister: And of course, in uh just uh another week or so, uh February 11th, Luke Bryan starts his residency over at Resorts Worlds.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: I can't wait to see it.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be good.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: You and I are going to that.
- 17:54Dayna Roselli: I look forward to that.
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: Um, I don't follow tons of Luke Bryant music, but I just feel like he's gonna put on a great show.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: I feel like whenever I go see country artists on the strip that have a show, I'm always super impressed.
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: And we've talked about this before.
- 18:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think it's just gonna be like a kickback country party inside of that theater.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: So that will be fun.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: But it's interesting because, you know, I saw a sign I was like um on the LED screen outside of Resorts World when I was driving by, and I think it was early January of Katy Perry um tickets on sale, like get your tickets, you know, for tonight.
- 18:24Dayna Roselli: And I thought, I wonder how ticket sales are.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: But January was a tough month for everyone.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: And so I'm happy to see that she's adding summer shows.
- 18:31Dayna Roselli: I think the demand is there for the future and the spring, but January's always just kind of out there.
- 18:37Dayna Roselli: A lot of shows, we've talked about this before, take a little bit of a break, even because they predict it.
- 18:42Dayna Roselli: But she was, you know, a new show, and maybe they weren't positive of how that would go.
- 18:46Dayna Roselli: So I'm glad to see she's adding dates.
- 18:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I think the thing with Katy Perry also is she started, she launched her residency like right around New Year's Eve weekend and then had shows into January.
- 18:58Sean McAllister: As word spreads about how fun her show is, which we talked about last episode, I I think that more and more people are going to be buying up tickets as we go along uh into these months where she's added shows.
- 19:12Sean McAllister: So glad to see that happening for Katie.
- 19:15Dayna Roselli: And speaking of adding shows, there must be demand because tons of people are adding shows.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: And uh, when I say tons, I mean also this huge festival.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: We talked about it, the when we are young when sorry, it's when we were young, not when we are young.
- 19:28Dayna Roselli: When we were young festival, lots of nostalgia there.
- 19:31Dayna Roselli: Uh Avril Levine, who else?
- 19:32Dayna Roselli: Paramour, all sorts of acts uh hitting the stuff.
- 19:35Sean McAllister: Jimmy Eat World, lots of great like 90s bands, early 2000s.
- 19:40Dayna Roselli: They put one day on sale and it sold out like right away, so they added another.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: That sold out by the end of the day, and now they've added a third.
- 19:47Dayna Roselli: So that's gonna be in October.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: Ticket sales great for that festival.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: Silksonic, uh, which involves Bruno Mars, is adding dates to the park MGM, so sales must be good there.
- 19:58Dayna Roselli: Steve Martin and Martin Short are now coming to the win at the Encore Theater this summer, and so is Brian McKnight.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: Wow, that's great.
- 20:05Sean McAllister: Also over at Wynn.
- 20:07Sean McAllister: Uh Lionel Ritchie just returned for his engagement of shows over at Win Las Vegas.
- 20:13Sean McAllister: He's going to be back with more shows this weekend as we record.
- 20:16Sean McAllister: Plus, uh, he has more dates set uh February through April.
- 20:22Sean McAllister: So you can check uh specific dates online at Wynn's website.
- 20:27Sean McAllister: But um great to see all these great entertainers.
- 20:30Dayna Roselli: He's dancing on the ceiling.
- 20:31Sean McAllister: He is.
- 20:33Dayna Roselli: He puts on a great show.
- 20:34Dayna Roselli: I saw him at Zappos Theater.
- 20:35Dayna Roselli: I think you did too, right?
- 20:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:37Sean McAllister: He's so fun and such a I mean he knows what he's doing up there on stage and he has fun with the audience.
- 20:44Sean McAllister: The like fans from his Commodore days would get up out of their seats and they were dancing in the aisles.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: It really is a fun environment that he brings.
- 20:56Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 20:56Dayna Roselli: And he always talks about, you know, how he's been around so long, and so he has kind of like different generations that follow his music, and you know, it yeah, it's a great.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: And he talks to the audience a lot, which I love.
- 21:06Dayna Roselli: He really makes it a very intimate experience.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: He does.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: And over at the theater at Virgin Hotels, Kem and Kenny Babyface Edmonds bring in their highly anticipated tour.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: Um, May 13th is the day that they are stopping here in Las Vegas.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: So apparently they're doing a whole big tour.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: Tickets for that go on sale or should be on sale already, January 28th.
- 21:27Dayna Roselli: But um Babyface coming to Las Vegas, which he had a show over at the Mirage, you know.
- 21:32Sean McAllister: And you saw that show, didn't you, David?
- 21:34Sean McAllister: I did.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: How was he?
- 21:35Sean McAllister: Because Babyface is like, I mean, an iconic RB singer, but has also produced for like Mariah Carey.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's the thing.
- 21:44Dayna Roselli: His show was great.
- 21:45Dayna Roselli: I was just looking at clips in my phone the other day, and maybe I'll share some.
- 21:49Dayna Roselli: He put on such a fun show and a full of talent.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: He was great.
- 21:54Dayna Roselli: He had fun with himself.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: He even stripped down a little at one point and it was running through the aisles, and you're like, what?
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: What is going on, baby?
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: But here's what makes it a great show.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: Like you mentioned, he was a producer and is a producer, and he's produced so many Grammy hits.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: I mean, he has tons of Grammy Awards.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: And what he does is feature all that music in the show.
- 22:15Dayna Roselli: So it's cool.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: He's got some backup singers.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: So either he'll incorporate, you know, him singing it with the back or the backup singers, or they'll actually sometimes I believe they even like played the song.
- 22:25Dayna Roselli: They did a huge tribute to Whitney Houston.
- 22:28Sean McAllister: Oh, which was great.
- 22:29Sean McAllister: They did work together so much.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: So I mean he's produced some of the best music out there, and um, it just makes for a great show.
- 22:36Dayna Roselli: So I don't know if this particular tour will include all that stuff, but um, if you're wondering, you know, about babyface and if it's worth seeing, I mean, I would say go and it it would be a great show.
- 22:47Dayna Roselli: It would be a good night out.
- 22:48Sean McAllister: Great music, regardless.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: Right.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 22:51Sean McAllister: Um, something else that's always a great time here in Las Vegas is Super Bowl weekend.
- 22:56Sean McAllister: And that is coming up upon us.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: And if you're planning on coming, you need to act pretty quick.
- 23:03Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 23:03Dayna Roselli: We always like last week we talked about Valentine's Day.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: Like there's too many things to mention.
- 23:08Dayna Roselli: It's a big deal, it's coming up, there's tons of prefix menus, but plan ahead.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: And it's kind of the same for Super Bowl.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: We keep getting release after release about different packages and where you can go.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: All the sports books are having something.
- 23:19Dayna Roselli: We have amazing sports book up and down the strip, off the strip.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: But the big thing you need to know is plan ahead.
- 23:25Sean McAllister: Yeah, and if you're a a big player at the casinos on the strip, chances are you've already got the promotions about the private casino parties that are going on because they happen at every single property, and there's usually some big name football stars, uh, usually retired, but some who you know are current players and just aren't playing in the Super Bowl who will pop up at at some of these parties too.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: So um, always a good time.
- 23:49Sean McAllister: I can't wait.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and sometimes when we get up that morning at the Super Bowl and you're like, where should we go watch the game?
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: It's like, um, this is probably not gonna fly.
- 23:57Sean McAllister: No, not at all.
- 23:58Sean McAllister: I always have my my plans made well in advance for where to watch the game.
- 24:02Sean McAllister: But do you know what my uh I don't know if we talked about this last year.
- 24:06Sean McAllister: My tradition for Super Bowl Sunday.
- 24:09Dayna Roselli: I do know this tradition.
- 24:10Dayna Roselli: You go to the C don't you go to the Caesars like high roller suite or something?
- 24:15Sean McAllister: Well, I usually end up at the the watch party over there, but first thing in the morning I wake up and go and get a massage at the South Point.
- 24:26Dayna Roselli: Oh.
- 24:27Sean McAllister: At the South Point spa.
- 24:29Sean McAllister: Why?
- 24:29Sean McAllister: Because I've always I started doing it years ago, and it's just become a tradition, and I get nice and relaxed.
- 24:37Sean McAllister: Okay, and then go and start having some beverages and watch the Super Bowl.
- 24:43Dayna Roselli: Interesting.
- 24:43Dayna Roselli: You having some beverages?
- 24:45Dayna Roselli: No.
- 24:48Dayna Roselli: Well, that's quite a tradition.
- 24:49Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: The South Point.
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: Do they have local specials?
- 24:52Sean McAllister: They do.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 24:53Sean McAllister: I think it's 20% off.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: Nice.
- 24:55Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:55Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: I've never been to the South Point spa.
- 24:57Dayna Roselli: It's a really nice spa.
- 24:58Dayna Roselli: Oh, good.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: I mean, I feel like, you know, a spa people always say, like, is it a nice?
- 25:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, I feel like most places have nice spas in Las Vegas, don't you think?
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 25:06Sean McAllister: No matter where.
- 25:06Sean McAllister: I feel like it's a hidden gem.
- 25:08Sean McAllister: You wouldn't think about going to the South Point for the spa, but it's it's really nice.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: Okay, good.
- 25:13Dayna Roselli: Duly noted.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: February 13th.
- 25:16Sean McAllister: I need to book that spa appointment too.
- 25:19Dayna Roselli: Get on it.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: Well, speaking of all the things that we just mentioned, those are all kind of like one big tip, so we might as well just get into our tips.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: How about it?
- 25:31Sean McAllister: All right, tip number one, Dana, since we were just talking about Super Bowl, this is a sports-related uh tip.
- 25:38Sean McAllister: Allegiant Airlines, and this is mainly for people, for our listeners who live here in Vegas, but if you live in another city where Allegiant flies in and out of, this could pertain to you as well, especially if you're a Vegas Golden Knights fan.
- 25:55Sean McAllister: Allegiant Airlines has just come out with this fly away package to help you uh watch Golden Knights games on the road.
- 26:04Sean McAllister: And they've come up with some great fares starting at$38 for nonstop flights.
- 26:10Sean McAllister: These are one-way prices to go see uh the Golden Knights play in cities like San Jose, uh down in Phoenix, in Anaheim, uh Seattle, Vancouver, St.
- 26:22Sean McAllister: Louis.
- 26:23Sean McAllister: Uh so again, these prices start, these flights start at$38 to go and cheer on the Golden Knights in uh other cities, which is a great way to get out, see other cities, root on the home team, and have a great little uh vacation.
- 26:39Dayna Roselli: I mean, that 38 bucks, that's like cheaper than some parking.
- 26:42Sean McAllister: It really almost is.
- 26:44Sean McAllister: I mean, parking is like 25 bucks usually if you're gonna park to go to a golden knights game.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: So, you know, add$13 onto that and you could fly to another city.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: Okay, that's a tip.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: That's for sure.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I love that.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: And I love it's a great idea for Allegiant.
- 27:00Dayna Roselli: Fill those planes and get, you know, get our get our fans over there.
- 27:03Dayna Roselli: Okay, I have two quick tips today.
- 27:05Dayna Roselli: Uh, one, the English hotel is opening in downtown Las Vegas.
- 27:10Dayna Roselli: Okay, this is I don't want to say it's out of nowhere.
- 27:13Dayna Roselli: It's like we knew it was going on, we knew it was happening, and then I just started like really seeing a lot of publicity about it on Instagram because we follow the account, and I was like, oh my gosh, I forgot about this.
- 27:23Dayna Roselli: So, Chef Todd English is opening a boutique hotel in the arts district of Las Vegas.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: It's opening on 222-22.
- 27:33Sean McAllister: So it's coming up.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's coming up.
- 27:35Dayna Roselli: They are doing tons of hiring, by the way, if anyone's looking for a job.
- 27:38Dayna Roselli: I saw they had like a job fair this week uh for two days looking to fill all positions in there.
- 27:43Dayna Roselli: But it looks like they have a super cute pool, uh, some rooms with balconies.
- 27:48Dayna Roselli: They've got one restaurant in there, and it's kind of, you know, Todd English's vision, I believe it is, yeah, it is actually the first hotel by him.
- 27:58Dayna Roselli: So he's a four times James Beard award-winning chef.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: You know, he's had tons of restaurants in Las Vegas for a while, he at Olives, which is over at Virgin now, right?
- 28:06Sean McAllister: It's at Virgin.
- 28:07Sean McAllister: The original location was overlooking the fountains over at Bellagio.
- 28:11Sean McAllister: And now Olives is over at Virgin Hotel.
- 28:13Sean McAllister: I used to love his so my gosh.
- 28:15Sean McAllister: I loved going there.
- 28:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's a that was a great.
- 28:18Dayna Roselli: I haven't been to the Virgin one, but I was at the one at Bellagio many times.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: Uh I loved, loved his pub at Aria.
- 28:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 28:23Dayna Roselli: I used to live over there in a high rise, and I was there all the time.
- 28:27Dayna Roselli: The food was fantastic.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: I was so bummed when that closed.
- 28:30Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: Um, so anyway, he's opening the English Hotel, and it's gonna be in the arts district of Las Vegas.
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: If you're coming to town in February and you want to check out a new spot, um maybe stay there and try it out.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: I don't believe and I don't see that there's any gaming.
- 28:45Dayna Roselli: It's a boutique hotel.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: So could be good though, and I bet the food's good at the restaurant.
- 28:49Sean McAllister: The food's gonna be delicious, guaranteed.
- 28:51Sean McAllister: Uh and your other tip, Dana, this week is also kind of food related, right?
- 28:55Sean McAllister: It is, I know.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: Well, but also a little bit of a scene.
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: It is a scene.
- 28:59Dayna Roselli: So I've talked about it, and if if you follow me on social, you've seen some of my posts about uh Bagel Mania, which is over near the new convention center, right on Convention Center Drive, in between Las Vegas Boulevard and Paradise.
- 29:11Dayna Roselli: And if you've ever driven down, you've seen the huge bagel that's out front, and you're like, it just looks like a cool place automatically, right?
- 29:18Sean McAllister: I just drove by on the strip, passing convention center, and saw the big bagel down the street.
- 29:24Sean McAllister: And I was like, oh, you know what?
- 29:25Sean McAllister: That is a really good sign.
- 29:26Dayna Roselli: It is a really good sign.
- 29:27Dayna Roselli: It's a big old bagel with uh, you know, sesame seeds on it and the whole nine.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: Um, but it's a great spot uh there for people who live in central Las Vegas, okay?
- 29:38Dayna Roselli: Because sometimes when you live in central Las Vegas, you gotta travel either to the east, the west, the north, the south to go like to brunch or lunch, you know?
- 29:47Dayna Roselli: And if you don't want to hit a strip property.
- 29:49Dayna Roselli: So Bagel Mania is a great option, and it's fantastic.
- 29:54Dayna Roselli: You go there, you run into all sorts of people that you know.
- 29:57Dayna Roselli: Um, so that's super fun.
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: And the menu is huge, and the menu's cool.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: It's got all sorts of different dishes named after iconic Vegas people, which is fun, locals and celebrities.
- 30:09Dayna Roselli: So there's one, you know, named after the sheriff, and you know, family members of some of the families that have made a big difference in Las Vegas.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: So that's really fun.
- 30:18Dayna Roselli: Huge menu, you name it breakfast, lunch, bagels, tons of booths inside, plenty of room.
- 30:25Sean McAllister: And it's not just a bagel shop.
- 30:27Sean McAllister: There's lots of other kind of food items on the menu, right?
- 30:30Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 30:30Dayna Roselli: It's not just bagels.
- 30:31Dayna Roselli: I'm talking omelets, eggs, salads, sandwiches, everything you could ever imagine.
- 30:35Sean McAllister: I'm a big sandwich fan.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's you'd love it.
- 30:37Dayna Roselli: And then, like, if you order like eggs, right?
- 30:40Dayna Roselli: Um, it comes with everything, like usually a choice of a certain bagel.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: And I always ask the waitress, like, which one should I get?
- 30:46Dayna Roselli: She recommended the jalapeno cheese one.
- 30:49Dayna Roselli: And it was great.
- 30:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was good.
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: Then they have an area where you walk in right at the front where you wait, and they have all sorts of desserts and cookies, um, pink box donuts, and then also you can pick up orders to go there.
- 31:04Dayna Roselli: But so much fun.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: Pictures on the wall, flamingos, the restrooms are fun, the whole nine.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: It's an experience, and it's a cool hang for central Las Vegas.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: Now, you can come visit if you don't live in central Las Vegas.
- 31:17Dayna Roselli: I'm just saying it's a fun uh place to go because a lot of people that live in the high rises, like I do.
- 31:23Sean McAllister: Right.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: We all go there, right?
- 31:25Dayna Roselli: And I saw I ran into Larry Rudolph, who is uh Britney Spears former manager.
- 31:29Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: He was there, ran into some friends that live over uh near there, just recently bought a house.
- 31:35Dayna Roselli: Uh, I went with John Castlemedes.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: You run into all sorts of people.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: I think I saw um one of the big plastic surgeons in town, I can't think of his name, stop by the table the other day.
- 31:45Dayna Roselli: The who's who of Vegas.
- 31:47Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 31:48Sean McAllister: That is a good tip.
- 31:49Sean McAllister: I know.
- 31:49Dayna Roselli: So bagel mania, just look for the big bagel.
- 31:52Sean McAllister: I know I'm I'm hungry and ready to go.
- 31:56Sean McAllister: Uh thanks so much.
- 31:58Sean McAllister: That's an episode.
- 31:59Sean McAllister: It is an episode.
- 32:00Sean McAllister: Episode 103.
- 32:00Sean McAllister: I know.
- 32:01Sean McAllister: To be more specific with Vegas Revealed.
- 32:03Dayna Roselli: Moving on to 104.
- 32:05Dayna Roselli: You and I have an assignment somewhat soon where we've got to hit the Hoover Dam.
- 32:09Dayna Roselli: So we're gonna go there and we'll make sure to bring our mic and talk about some of the things that we see there.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: Because you and I both were saying we haven't been to the Hoover Dam in a while.
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: No.
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: And people that I know people that live here that think the Hoover Dam's like two hours away.
- 32:22Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, no, it's like 30 minutes.
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: And it's a it's a great trip, and especially if you have people in town have never seen it.
- 32:29Dayna Roselli: So we'll talk about that in future episodes.
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: But um love to see a lot of our listeners DMing us saying they've got their plane tickets and they're ready to come visit Las Vegas from overseas.
- 32:39Dayna Roselli: So we are uh picking up and business is picking up and we're busy and it's great.
- 32:43Sean McAllister: Busier than ever, and we'll have some uh we'll have some very interesting experiences to be talking about in the coming episodes of Vegas Revealed.
- 32:53Sean McAllister: So stay tuned for uh uh what we have planned.
- 32:58Sean McAllister: Not gonna spill the beans.
- 32:59Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:59Sean McAllister: Gotta tune it a little bit.
- 33:01Dayna Roselli: Have a great week, everyone.
- 33:04Sean McAllister: Let's do it.
