- 2:24debut on the show. Brandon is with a group called the National Association of
- 2:29Manufacturers and they are really upset about some EPA regulations here as of late,
- 2:34coming out of the Biden administration, and Brandon is going to join us to
- 2:37talk about that, plus more on the Bob Huggins situation. There's news continuing
- 2:42to do in a story that happened last Friday night. Every day there's more
- 2:45news in it, and we're gonna delve into that a little bit later.
- 2:47Ron Placher calls and Textile welcome as always, bringing our good friend Milly Snyder
- 2:52from the Shape Shop. How are you, dear? I am so wonderful.
- 2:54How are you? I'm fine thank you for being here. Doing well?
- 2:58Oh, doing well, Happy to be here, look forward to it
- 3:00every month. Well, you know, yesterday was West Virginia Day. I
- 3:02know, so happy belated West Virginia Day. Now, how long have you
- 3:07been in West Virginia since nineteen sixty nine? Fifty four years if anybody's counting,
- 3:12so I think I have become a bona fide Westvinia. Oh, I
- 3:15think so once you pass I don't know, ten years. Here's the thing
- 3:19about being in West Virginia. In my opinion, it's not about how long
- 3:22you've been here. It's about a state of mind. And I think you
- 3:25could move here like two or three months and be a Western if you embrace
- 3:30us. And you have done that, and the state has embraced you.
- 3:32Oh, and don't think I've ever denied that, because almost from the beginning
- 3:38people wrapped their arms around me. They loved what I brought to West Virginia.
- 3:43And of course, sadly, you know, Way Watchers, which I
- 3:46owned and operated for forty four years, has disappeared. And I think the
- 3:52I think, and because I don't have authority any longer to know what I'm
- 3:55talking about, but I think that whole weight loss is going by way of
- 4:00the medicinal world. You're talking about that once before, Yes, we did,
- 4:03and you even agree that that is not the way it should well,
- 4:08because I mean, I'm a firm believer in the less pharmaceuticals you put in
- 4:12your body, the better. I couldn't agree more. And if you can
- 4:15do thing now, I understand there are some people that have to have certain
- 4:17medicines for certain things. But I will never write it down. I've told
- 4:24you I will never and i may drop dead tomorrow, but I'm never going
- 4:27to be a person at an advance, which I'm well past middle age.
- 4:31Now, You're never going to see old day being a guy who sits down
- 4:34and takes ten pails every morning. Not gonna happen. I'll just die first.
- 4:39Not gonna do it. And listen, I respect that because I only
- 4:42take those medications that are necessary. But I'm not taking anything that is going
- 4:47to suppress my appetite right now exactly. I like food. First of all.
- 4:51I don't think my appetite is suppressible. Yeah, a great same same
- 4:57here, same here. But yeah, this whole the whole weight watchers thing.
- 5:00I mean, I saw some television commercials they change it to just WW
- 5:03I think, and then they changed it back to weight Watchers. I thought
- 5:06that was unique, okay, And I mean I wonder why they changed it
- 5:11to begin with. Was it a psychede? Well, well, I think
- 5:15they wanted to put more um um quietness around the fact that you were walking
- 5:20into weight Watchers, so they just use the words WW. But to be
- 5:27fair, by that time, I had already stepped aside, because I believe
- 5:32it or not, I don't even believe it. But July thirteenth will be
- 5:36ten years since I sold. Now, of course I had to wait three
- 5:42years because before I could, you know, be involved again by helping people
- 5:46help themselves. And I have my own group. It's called fix It with
- 5:48Foods. We live and love the Mediterranean lifestyle. We do it at the
- 5:54Shape Shop building in a private meeting room and it's not a diet, but
- 5:58it's a lifestyle. And what I want to tell people who are listening,
- 6:01if they went to weight Watchers at one time, they know what to do.
- 6:05And you know, we can call on our own strength and behavior modification,
- 6:13eating smart, making good choices is in our heads, it's in our
- 6:18heart. We can call on that. But in the meantime if they would
- 6:23like to come to my group. We do group support, We do people
- 6:27talking, and people are doing incredibly well at any time that you are trying
- 6:30to make a lifestyle change, and it doesn't matter whether it's an eating change,
- 6:33it's exercise, smoking, sensation, drugs, alcohol, the sort of
- 6:41thing, anything that you can do, I would think, and psychologists have
- 6:44said this to in in a group setting where somebody else is holding you accountable
- 6:47for it, even to just a one person, you know, and it's
- 6:49just a workout buddy or whatever, that goes a long way. Absolutely,
- 6:54and group support is so very important. And you've said it, I've said
- 6:59it, and we need to keep saying it. And of course, in
- 7:01the meantime, I'm happy to tell you that more and more people, i
- 7:06mean almost on a weekly basis, are discovering that the Shape Shop is at
- 7:11seven oh six Central Avenue on the West Side. In fact, this week
- 7:15and it was on Juneteenth, which was Monday, we had several people who
- 7:19came into the store and they used to come to Patrick Street. Eureka.
- 7:24They found us. We were not hiding. We are not hiding. But
- 7:29anyway, it always feels good when people come to us who came in days
- 7:33of old, and what they find at Shape Shop is fresh, clean food.
- 7:38We use no preservatives, We fix our own chicken, we bake our
- 7:42own turkey, everything, And you know, on the truck because we've been
- 7:46going to live on the levee on Friday night, imagine that we are serving
- 7:51fresh salmon bites on a bed of keenewa with avocado. Now, if that
- 7:57is truck food, then you can knock me over. But people are loving
- 8:01it, and so we're doing something different. And also in the store,
- 8:07we want you to know what real good food tastes like, things that are
- 8:11not previously processed with god knows what chemicals. Speaking of which got a text
- 8:18to the show here for you that says, text, Dave, these preservatives,
- 8:20nitrates, fake sugars, etc. Are just as bad or worse than
- 8:24the pills people are taking. Absolutely, I couldn't agree, And whoever sent
- 8:28that, thank you very much because it's absolutely the truth. And yes,
- 8:33we don't know the effects of some of those ingredients, but at a later
- 8:39time in our life, when our creator put us together, there was no
- 8:43knowledge about what these chemicals were going to do to our body. And in
- 8:48old bodies that were found hundreds and hundreds of years ago, thousands of years
- 8:52ago. There was no sign of bone problems because they didn't have things that
- 8:58they ate. Say it off the land we want, well, Shape Shop
- 9:03doesn't. We don't go out in the yard and pick it up. But
- 9:05it's fresh, clean food. And the less you put in your body,
- 9:09the better your body is going to respond to that. And I'll say this
- 9:13about that. You mentioned salmon. Some of the best salmon I've ever had
- 9:16was from the Shape Shop. You need to come back and it's very good.
- 9:18And that's here's the thing about the Shape Shop. And I mean you
- 9:22got plenty of free parking right right. I mean I've never even had parking
- 9:26meters. I've always gone in the middle of the day. Anytime I've ever
- 9:28gone, I've never had a hard time finding a place to park. It's
- 9:31all right right out there. As you said, no parking meters, plenty
- 9:35of free parking. There a very roomy shop. If you want to shop
- 9:39and look at the different products that you sell, or you want to dine
- 9:43in for lunch, people forget that you do have a dining area aside.
- 9:48We also deliver, so we have a lot of things and now that And
- 9:52we've always made muffins and they were good over the year. They were great
- 9:56at Patrick Street. But now all our muffins are so good. People are
- 10:01coming in and buying four and six and eight packages at a time because they
- 10:05are just outstanding. Yeah, and they're one hundred percent brand. They're sweetened
- 10:11with stevia. Sugar is not a friend. And if people don't know this,
- 10:16sadly for those people who have cancer, cancer cells feed on sugar,
- 10:22and that's something we need to keep in the back of our mind. Taste
- 10:26good in your mouth, It's just not a food that is friendly to our
- 10:30bodies. Exactly right. We're talking to Millie Snyder the Shape Shop. It's
- 10:33nine to seventeen. Let me ask you this now, you mentioned Live on
- 10:35the level you've been doing Live on the Levey, Jim Strawn and the folks
- 10:39every Friday night. Jim Will, by the way, will be on the
- 10:41show Friday to talk about Live Just a hoot. That guy. Oh,
- 10:45he's something I'll say at that point now he is. I like Jim a
- 10:48lot, but also the regattas coming up. He could be a part of
- 10:52our guy. Oh absolutely, yes, we're going to be there for there
- 10:56actually be set up on the Thursday the twenty ninth and kick into gear thirtieth
- 11:01through July four, okay, and I'm going to be on the truck some
- 11:05I haven't been on the truck for Live on the Levee, so I've had
- 11:07some cameo appearances that I need to make, which I'd love coming on our
- 11:13truck and I love seeing my form. What they should do is just get
- 11:16like a cardboard cut out of you put on that a cardboard cutout. Can't
- 11:20talk like as much as I do because I have a lot to say,
- 11:24Yeah, you do you do? And what are you saying here as of
- 11:26late to people? I mean, I mean you talked about what's going on
- 11:30the shape shop of some of the some of the newer things. When you
- 11:31have these these groups that you get together. What's some words of advice from
- 11:37Millie Snipe? Do anything new? I should say? I know you're always
- 11:39round about sugar and things that nature, were anything new? I think the
- 11:43most important thing people need is they have the power to be their own best
- 11:46friend. You know, we would do anything for anybody, but have we
- 11:50ever decided to be good to ourselves, to take care of ourselves, to
- 11:56make the best food decision, to get in tune with who we are and
- 12:00what we would like to have happened. You can go and you can learn
- 12:05and you can see. But you have the power because you've tried many many
- 12:09times. Don't say that you failed many many times, but that you've tried
- 12:15and now you simply need to call on that and put it back into place.
- 12:18Exactly good and stop. Give us the phone number, the location,
- 12:22all of these vitals, the stats. That's a lot of information with Our
- 12:26phone number is six eight one two six five three nine three eight. We
- 12:31are shape shop WV dot com. You know www. Shape shot wv dot
- 12:37com. Our menu is online. What else? We are at a great
- 12:43location. We're on the west side. West side is a great place and
- 12:48a lot of a lot of businesses are on the west side, so you
- 12:50know, and as you point out so very well, there's free parking.
- 12:54There's no meters for those people who need it. There's a handicap entrance right
- 13:00in the front. Our entrance is handicap plus. We have we in cooperation
- 13:05with the city, we had um am. I don't know what it's called,
- 13:09but it makes the street level with the sidewalk so that if you're in
- 13:15a wheelchair you can easily be pushed up on that and get into our handicap
- 13:20entrance and you get all of which I'm proud of. You get inside and
- 13:22you have some of that delicious shake shop food, and we also have sugar
- 13:28Shape Shop Shape Shop. Yeah, you get inside the shake Shop. I
- 13:33think there is a Shape shop there are, there are several. But and
- 13:35of course we have sugar free ice cream. We have low sugar ice cream.
- 13:39That's what Colonel Ron Hughes is all about. He's all about. He
- 13:41comes at least once every week and yeah, stocks up on things and he's
- 13:46a real advocate. He loves our stuff, all right, Mail, we
- 13:50gotta go see regatta and live on the Levey two. It's look forward to

- 17:11o'clock at the Red Carpet Lounge in Charleston. You know, we hear a
- 17:15lot about EPA overreach, and we have for some time one group that's working
- 17:21hard to fight excessive EPA regulations. It's the National Association Manufacturers and they're they're
- 17:27up in arms over something called the National Ambient air Quality Standard. Now what
- 17:33exactly does that mean. Brandon Ferris is the vice president of Energy and Resources
- 17:37policy for the group and he joins us now. Brandon, good morning,
- 17:38Welcome to the show. How are you, good morning, Thank you so
- 17:41much for having me on today. Thank you for being here. Let's start
- 17:45at the top. Man, tell us about this policy National Ambient air Quality
- 17:49and why are your group has a problem with them. Absolutely, Thank you
- 17:53so much. So where's the Manufacturing Association where the voice of the thousand manufacturers
- 18:00was the thirteen million men and women who make things in America and EPA,
- 18:07you're talking about the regulation overreach, and that's absolutely what we're seeing from EPA.
- 18:11What they're doing is they're setting a lot of standards at zero and manufacturers
- 18:15are innovative, We're able to meet a lot of things, but zero is
- 18:18not one of them. And so this new standard, this ambient air Quality
- 18:22Standard PM is microscopic air particles. And on this standard right now, they
- 18:30did in early reconsideration. Mostly they do it on a ten year cycle.
- 18:34They decided they needed to do this one early and they're moving it from they're
- 18:40looking to move it from twelve, which is the current standard, all the
- 18:42way down to eight. And if they were moving it down to eight,
- 18:47what you're doing is you're putting nearly two hundred billion in economic activity at risk.
- 18:52You're putting nearly a million jobs at risk throughout the country. Think manufacturing,
- 18:59agriculture, building, bridges, roads, infrastructure, all of that in
- 19:03these areas that can't get into attainment, can't meet the EPA's new standard.
- 19:08You can't build anything in those areas. Explain to our listeners what exactly those
- 19:14numbers mean. I mean you said twelve and eight exactly. Explain for the
- 19:18lay person that's not a manufacturer, what do those numbers actually mean. So
- 19:22those are measurements, it's it's micrograms again, you're looking at microscopic particles,
- 19:29not something you're going to be able to see with your eye, not even
- 19:30something you're going to be able to see with your standard microscope. It's got
- 19:33to be very powerful. And so twelve micrograms is the standard right now.
- 19:40And one of the things that we found when we did in economic study on
- 19:42this is that manufacturing in the US is amongst the cleanest in the world.
- 19:48So you're at a measurement of twelve and EPA is looking to hop all the
- 19:53way down to eight micrograms, which means that of the entire US population is
- 20:00going to live in areas that are not in attainment if they move down to
- 20:03eight, and that's forty percent of the country where you can't build bridges,
- 20:08you can't build roads, you can't build manufacturing, you can't do a lot
- 20:12of agriculture that you need to, and so that's the heavy concern about this.
- 20:17Manufacturers. We're in favor of smart regulations. Regulatory certainty is something that
- 20:23we crave. But when you put it so low that nearly half the population
- 20:29is out of attainment, nearly half the population is in violation, then that's
- 20:33not smart economic policy. I would one percent agree with that, you know,
- 20:38and again we are talking with Brandon Ferris about this, these EPA regulations
- 20:44in this national ambient air quality standards. I think sometimes what happens is,
- 20:48Brandon, you know, we have we have two or three four different sides
- 20:52in this country, and you know, I don't need to tell you and
- 20:55a discussion for another time about how divided we are as a country, but
- 20:59we have we have certain folks in this country that the whole green thing has
- 21:03become a religion to them. And I'm all for standing up for what you
- 21:07believe in, don't get me wrong, But I think sometimes they don't realize
- 21:11the impact. And as somebody and my listeners have heard me preach about this
- 21:15over and over against somebody who comes from cold country, I see the collateral
- 21:19damage that comes with these things. Now you want to really really anger some
- 21:23of these folks and I'm talking about people across the country. Now you start
- 21:27messing with highways, you start messing with things like that, that's when those
- 21:33on the extreme extreme left wing green movement are going to step back and go,
- 21:37oh, now, wait a minute, how do I get to my
- 21:40climate summit? Oh? Yeah, how do I get there? Maybe that's
- 21:44when it becomes a problem your thoughts. So that's exactly right. So one
- 21:48of the things that we've seen is Tapa, for instance, they don't go
- 21:53out to a lot of the communities that they're regulating, and so they don't
- 21:57see what the average, every day effects of this they're going to be.
- 22:00And with broad sweeping regulations like this, we want them to know that here
- 22:07are the effects on the everyday citizen. Here are the effects of I have
- 22:10a good manufacturing job and now we're not going to be able to expand because
- 22:15of this. And our error is amongst the cleanest in the world. Our
- 22:18manufacturing is amongst the cleanest in the world. And so what a lot of
- 22:23folks are saying is where is the tradeoff? We are clean, we have
- 22:30clean manufacturing. You want us to go cleaner. That's okay, we can
- 22:33go cleaner, but make sure you're not killing the economy when you make us
- 22:37go cleaner and cleaner and cleaner. And we talked about bridges and things of
- 22:44that nature. What kind of jobs, particularly if this continues on the slope
- 22:48we're on now, Brandon, what kind of jobs particularly could be at risk
- 22:52here. So what you're talking about is you're talking about agriculture jobs, you're
- 22:56talking about manufacturing jobs. You're talking about any of those infrastructure workers. They
- 23:02will not be able to build. Manufacturers cannot expand agriculture. So the PM
- 23:08the particular matter is air particles. And so if you're turning duff, if
- 23:14you're killing your soil, that kicks up dirt, and so you're not going
- 23:18to be able to till your soil if your area is not entertainment, and
- 23:22that's our great concern. And another thing that we've seen over the past few
- 23:26weeks is the wildfires, the wildfires from Canada which are bringing air quality down
- 23:33to in the US. And that's a natural event that's not manufacturing. But
- 23:40these proposed regulations don't take natural events into consideration. So you could have a
- 23:47wildfire in your area and attainment's done on an annual basis because you have a
- 23:52wildfire, you could be out of attainment for an entire year, and so
- 23:56for something that you could not control, you can build anything in that time.
- 24:02It's it's amazing that we're even having some of the discussions about this,
- 24:07Brandon, that we have, and how our government sometimes just doesn't realize all
- 24:11that goes into this. We're talking again with Brandon Ferris and five eighty Live
- 24:15is brought to parted by Generations Physical Therapy with seven convenient locations along as sixty
- 24:19four and they're hiring for both licenses and technically trained staff. From more information,
- 24:22visit generations pt dot com. So, Brandon, what does the fight
- 24:26look like? I mean, what exactly what kind of strategies are you using
- 24:30to fight back to get the attention of lawmakers? What exactly are you doing
- 24:33here? Well, so you, I'm sure know that you have the best
- 24:37darned congression with delegation in the world, and so we are talking a lot
- 24:41with them. We're talking a heck of a lot with Center Capital, heck
- 24:45a lot with Center Mansion. And that's what we're asking for is this is
- 24:49a call to arms, This is asking folks to weigh in. Please call
- 24:53your congressional delegation and tell them to weigh in with the White House. What
- 24:57we're seeing is what we expect in October a final standard for this, and
- 25:03we want the congressional delegations to have waited in before this comes out and said
- 25:07this is putting manufacturing at risk, This is putting the bridges and roads that
- 25:11we need at risk, this is putting agriculture at risk. We're not asking
- 25:15not to regulate us. We're asking us to regulate us in a smart way
- 25:19that we can achieve and continue making the products we need, to continue building
- 25:23the bridges and roads that we need to Brandon, I like to allow for
- 25:27all sorts of discussion on the show, and I had a text to the
- 25:30show. When somebody take an issue with what you're saying, obviously, so
- 25:33I'm sure that you won't care to answer this. There's a text that says,
- 25:37why then are manufacturing jobs up? Why do we have so many new
- 25:41infrastructure projects across the country. Well, so do we do. Absolutely,
- 25:48and that's something that we're very proud of. And workforce is always going to
- 25:53be an issue because we have manufacturing jobs are up and we can hire more
- 25:59folk. Our concern with this regulation. Is that this regulation hasn't gone into
- 26:04effect yet. Once it does, it can start affecting those manufacturing jobs.
- 26:08But we're very proud of where we've got, particularly after the pandemic, where
- 26:12where we're at for manufacturing employment, and we don't want to go backwards.
- 26:15That's one thing, as I believe that Republican Democrat everyone has agreed, is
- 26:21we need to make more things in America and that's what we need to continue
- 26:26doing. We're going to do it in a clean way. Manufacturing is in
- 26:29America is the cleanest in the world. But we need to make sure that
- 26:33our regulations don't shut down our economy and enable us to do it cleanly,
- 26:38but continue making the products that make modern light possible. And I think that's
- 26:42an interesting point, and we'll wrap it up with this, Brandon, you
- 26:45said that whenever you know, Congress, to government, whoever, whenever they
- 26:49have come out before and they've said, Okay, we need to do it
- 26:52better, we need to do this. Manufacturers, coal mining, whatever these
- 26:56organizations are, they have they've answered the call and they they whatever hand they're
- 27:00dealt, they've done it. And it just seems that there's just so many
- 27:03more that Jesus, especially with this administration that just keeps coming out. We
- 27:07need more, we need more, we need more. But I mean they've
- 27:10always they've always answered the call before and it has everything in this country always
- 27:15been done perfectly. No, no country has. But as I said,
- 27:17compared what we do in America to these other countries, and I mean comparis
- 27:22to China, there is no comparison about the way we do things here.
- 27:25Brandon, Manufacturers will continue answering the call. Thank you so much. All
- 27:30right, Brandon, I appreciate it. We'll talk again. Say thanks a
- 27:33lot, man, keep up the fight. Absolutely, thank you. It's
- 27:37twenty five minutes away from ten. Brandon Faris with the National Association of Manufacturers
- 27:41to appreciate him joining us this morning. Let me get to some texts before
- 27:45we continue on the show. Text says Dave, there was once a proposal
- 27:48in West Virginia to limit various emissions to a lower level than the most sophisticated
- 27:52measurement tools could even measure. That sounds like something the government would do.
- 28:00Text says, but why it's because of IRA and the infrastructure bill, the
- 28:04flacial reduction. They've talking about the manufacturing jobs being up. That's what the
- 28:08texture there says. Text says Dave. The Manufacturers Association lobbies against legal cannabis
- 28:15and lobbies against clean air. I think the Manufacturer Association is concerned with controlling
- 28:18people's lives and Rooney people's health in favor of maximizing products. Tex says Dave.
- 28:26How do you cry about the green it was like crime, Brian,
- 28:29it's crime. How do you cry about the green movement being a religion and
- 28:32influencing law while actual religion is used to influence law that infringes upon citizens rights?
- 28:37A bit hyperbolic, Dave. According to a texture, Texa says,
- 28:42hey, Dave, Although I do think the EPA plays an important part in
- 28:48our country in some areas, yet on the most part they have been done
- 28:51nothing but hinder the progress of our nation as a whole. They are nothing

- 33:27start to Jerry. You're on five ety live. Go ahead, sir.
- 33:30Yeah, I was listening to there a minute to go here. Yes,
- 33:34you had all talking about the green energy basically, yes, sir. And
- 33:40you know, I'll find it interesting that the distrustion never gets around two,
- 33:46the fact that this younger generation that's getting involved and pushing all this green energy
- 33:53and don't flow the ground, don't do this don't do that. They don't
- 33:58know where food comes apparently they don't know where jobs come from. And the
- 34:05biggest issue I have with it is when you start trying to post it electric
- 34:10agenda, Uh no wants talking about the billions of tons of earth that are
- 34:17being cultivated and extracted from to create all the batteries that are going to be
- 34:24required, and the profusion of death will create down the road for a disposal
- 34:30everything else. And it is, as somebody else know, it is almost
- 34:37a religion with these people because they won't look beyond their own agenda. Well,
- 34:42and I don't disagree with that at all, and I appreciate your phone
- 34:45call, but but I'll tell you. You know, you've mentioned the younger
- 34:49generation, but where do they get this from? I mean they get this
- 34:52from these you know, the client people that are flying to climate change summits
- 34:59in Switzer, London wherever they are on concord lear jets. How do you
- 35:06think you got there? That's part of the issues that they turn a blind
- 35:09eye too. But also you got to remember in almost every issue that comes
- 35:15up, like guests, where a government gets involved and people get at odds
- 35:21over it, if you do one thing. That one one thing is follow
- 35:28the money. Somebody's making huge amounts of moneys off this agenda. Follow that
- 35:36money, trill you follow up and find out where the agenda is originating.
- 35:40All right, I appreciate your phone call. Thanks a lot. It's nine

- 36:06know, these of several selects, not all, but several celebrities and folks
- 36:09in Hollywood, you know, screaming about this stuff with with green energy and
- 36:13so on and so forth. Now you give me somebody. There's an actor
- 36:15named Ed Begley, Ryan, you're a remember with the name Ed Begley,
- 36:19Ed Begley Junior. His father was a famous actor, Ed Begley Junior.
- 36:22Uh, it was it was a pretty pretty big deal at one time.

- 36:46U Texts said, well, let me get into this, and I'll get
- 36:51into this text Um. I'm want to get back to the Bob Huggin story
- 36:53for a moment. The governor is now weighing in. Yesterday, during his
- 36:58media briefing, Governor Justice said he was sorry about the abrupt resignation of coach
- 37:04Bob Huggins, but the governor said it's hard to imagine any other outcome given
- 37:10the circumstances. Now, the story about this is all posted on the website
- 37:15WV metro news dot com. The governor also saying that he was not involved
- 37:19in talks about the Huggin situation with university at all, but said, or
- 37:24at least this is what I kind of took from it that WVU made the
- 37:29right call. According to the governor, that's just kind of reading between the
- 37:31lines kind of what I took from it, Governor Justice going on to say
- 37:37that he thinks that Bob Huggins has a problem and that he hopes Huggs will
- 37:42get help. Of course we're referring to alcohol now. In the meantime,
- 37:47Coach Huggins's daughter Jackie, or at least a statement yesterday. And I will
- 37:54say this, if you've heard me talk about the Huggin situation over the last
- 38:00couple of days, I told you that my hope was and I think the
- 38:06best thing for everyone involved was for the coach to resign, get help for
- 38:14his alcoholism, and then hopefully be welcome back into the w V fold at
- 38:22a later time once he's well, in some sort of an advisory role,
- 38:25maybe as an ambassador or some kind, using his problem that he's had for
- 38:32good, where he could explain to kids coming into the program about the dangers
- 38:37of the over indulgence of alcohol, etc. Well, if you read the
- 38:45statement yesterday from his daughter, Jackie, I think the daughter pretty much crapped
- 38:52over all that with her statement released late yesterday, and I posted the link
- 38:59on to what to her statement on Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at day
- 39:02A seventy on Twitter, she said, Jackie, this is the daughter of
- 39:07Bob Huggins, that she told w VU President Gordon Gee, that the governing
- 39:13bodies of w VU, including President Gee, needed to quote be better and
- 39:21again quoting do better, and she feels that the university turned their backs on
- 39:29her father. She referred to them all talking about WVU, Gordon Gee,
- 39:36the administration, board of governors, what have you. She referred to them
- 39:38all as backstabbers. And she is alleging that her dad told w VU he
- 39:46would be willing to go to rehab for sixty days if he could continue coaching,
- 39:52and they said no. Of course, the story you know that with
- 39:59the beer cans and a garbage bag in the vehicle all over the vehicle front
- 40:02and back. She claims the daughter does that it was because coach Huggins recycles
- 40:10and that's why he had the cans. Okay, she called it quote absurd,
- 40:20the notion that her dad would consume the beer while driving. She also
- 40:28denies that her dad is an alcoholic. And look, people are willing to
- 40:34go out on a limb to protect their family members. I get that,
- 40:39but come on, come on, Jackie, is anyone really really buying this
- 40:44story again, not a good luck from her, and probably my opinion,
- 40:51just made any hopes of him somehow landing back at the university at some point
- 40:58pretty much on existence. It is a sad situation all around. And as
- 41:05I've said that for the last two days, it's sad for those close to
- 41:12the basketball program at WVU, for the fans, for the students involved incoming
- 41:17players. But I will say this, and I talked about this with Jim
- 41:23Work with a Wally and Whimpy's on the show yesterday. And please don't think
- 41:30when I say this and I'm piling on in any way I'm not. But
- 41:35the news of the DUI did not come as a surprise to a lot of
- 41:39people that closely follow the Mountaineers. And I don't necessarily mean those that are
- 41:46just fans. I mean those that are closer to the program. I mean,
- 41:52I said it before, Coach Huggins doing these sort of things drinking to
- 41:59its pretty much well known as you know around WV circles. I mean,
- 42:07it's been whispered about and talked about for years, and everybody has to hit
- 42:15a point and whether it's no matter what it is in your life, whether
- 42:21it's alcohol, drugs, or any other thing that's that's bad for you,
- 42:24whether it could be a behavior, how you treat others. You've got to
- 42:29get to the point where there's a rock bottom, and hopefully for Hugs,
- 42:36this is it. I don't think his daughter made matters any better yesterday.
- 42:43And again I understand you stick up for your family. I get that one
- 42:46hundred percent, but I think that probably was not the best move to help
- 42:51anybody involved yesterday. I don't know. I don't know his daughter, never
- 42:54met her, wouldn't know her if I saw her a picture of her,
- 42:57I don't know her. But I don't know that that is the best move
- 43:00yesterday. Hobby, of course, will continue the discussion on talk line later

- 47:10bigger and the small go out. Don't get it twisted. Both sides wanted
- 47:15to consolidate small businesses into the larger corporations. Texters says Huggins got lucky and
- 47:22most universities would not have been given a second chance for the Xavier comment.
- 47:25I'm sure WVU took a lot of heat for giving him that second chance,
- 47:30which he blew. I'll say this, I was talking to somebody yesterday fairly
- 47:35close to the WVU basketball program who said that that's speculation here that President Gordon
- 47:42Gee wanted to fire Huggins immediately after the whole situation on the radio in Cincinnati
- 47:47on the Bill Cunningham Show, but was not allowed to do so or talked
- 47:52out of it. So on and so forth. Texas Republicans created EPA that
- 47:57need to just deal with it. Should have never happened, wanting to a
- 48:00text her Texas so all the people who knew about Huggan's problem are now not
- 48:06part of the problem. Does the word enabling apply, I would say yes.
- 48:13I would say yes. Five eighty Live is brought to you parted by

- 48:30Outdoors wv dot com. Brad has a lead story on the website. This
- 48:34morning, Governor Justice pushing back on this national report by CBS News of a
- 48:38federal investigation involving the so called do It for babydog vaccine sweep sakes. Now,
- 48:44Governor Justice and Chief of Staff Brian Abraham acknowledged a subpoena by federal investigators
- 48:50and confirmed the Justice administration had been cooperating with the probe. You go on
- 48:53to say, though, that the investigation is not about any actions taken by
- 48:58the state or by his administration. They are saying it was focused on the
- 49:02prices that were set by car dealerships. You remember back when that whole thing
- 49:07was going on, and I told you the story yesterday. It was reported
- 49:08on one of the local TV stations here about the lady who won the big
- 49:13Dodge truck and then couldn't afford to pay the taxes on it. Well,
- 49:15the governor said yesterday the case from the US Attorney's office has been closed,
- 49:21and he said no charges have come or will come against the car dealers and
- 49:28that had nothing to do with his office. And again, Brad's got the
- 49:31complete story at wv metronews dot com. The Capitol Sports Center. You've heard
- 49:38me talk about it. I'm a fan because I realized the economic impact it's
- 49:43going to have on all of the Kanaal Valley, not just downtown Charleston.
- 49:46I'm also a fan of getting all the details on it first, but overall,
- 49:51I'm a fan of the plan. Jared Lewis has a story on the
- 49:53website about it. This morning, Kanaka County Commissioner Ben Selango said the commission
- 49:59and City Council to Charleston are hoping to make a what he called a significant
- 50:02step in getting the project off the ground, and there's going to be a
- 50:07five member board that will organize the development of the center and then guide county
- 50:14and city officials through the transfer of monies into the Capital Sports Center Fund.
- 50:19Now. Once the board is in place, they'll then transfer the money to
- 50:22get it going. By the way, Commissioner Selango will be on the show
- 50:25this Friday and I loaded up Friday Funhouse to talk about the project. As
- 50:31I said, there's a lot of questions about it right now. I know
- 50:34there's people that have a text and called the show both for and against the
- 50:38Capital Sports Center Complex. As I said, as a whole, I'm on
- 50:45for it. But like you and like most semi intelligent people, and myself
- 50:50included in the semi intelligent category, I want to see all the details on
- 50:53it first, But as a whole, on the surface, I'm for it.
- 50:59Mark Harris, remember that name, former State Republican party chair. Even
- 51:04though he's long gone, his name is still being spoken here in West Virginia.
- 51:07Brad with a story on the website Mark Harris as doctor Mark Harris has
- 51:09been reprimanded by the State Medical Board due to what was called unprofessional conduct with
- 51:15a female patient. Now he served as party chair from March of twenty twenty
- 51:19one through June to twenty twenty two. He was forced to complete what is
- 51:22called a boundary training by the board of course, his doctor's clinical privileges were
- 51:27suspended in December twenty twenty over concerns over his evaluation of a female patient.
- 51:31He is accused for lack of a better term of touching and remaining in contact
- 51:37with a female's breast longer than is appropriate. He's also accused by the patient
- 51:43of asking questions that were way too personal. According to the report. Of
- 51:46course, there was controversy with him during his time at the VA two.
- 51:51Every time I had him on the show as a state Republican party chair,
- 51:53I got countless text about that, and there was controversy during his party chairmanship
- 51:59over the tally at the party convention back in twenty twenty one. Speculating here,
- 52:05I think very few members of the Republican Party in West Virginia are upset
- 52:08about the fact that Mark Harris is no longer the chair, and many wish
- 52:12they could figured he was ever here. To be honest, all right,
- 52:15we gotta go thank you to my guest this morning, Ryan or Brandon Ferris,
- 52:20I should say, from the manufactured Association of Millie Snyder, Ryan Nichols
- 52:22and my producer, thank you so much. Ryan. Tomorrow on the show,
