- 0:01Speaker 1: Ultimately, it's a different leader, different coordinator, different philosophical approach.
- 0:09Speaker 1: So it's it's exciting. It's exciting to be able to
- 0:13Speaker 1: learn a new brand of football perspective. It just sounds
- 0:20Speaker 1: like he's thrilled, just exciting to learn a new offense
- 0:25Speaker 1: and a new brand of football. Let's go. I don't
- 0:29Speaker 1: think there's anything that excites Jalen Hurts quite frankly, but
- 0:34Speaker 1: he didn't sell me on he's excited about this new offense.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Jeff Boscher is here as the Eagles are back on
- 0:41Speaker 1: the field, and I know Hurts is a tough guy
- 0:43Speaker 1: to read, but this is him that's about as excited
- 0:47Speaker 1: as he's gonna get. Jeff, He's excited about a new
- 0:50Speaker 1: offense and approach. It sounds like should we buy into
- 0:52Speaker 1: his excitement here? Man?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Oh gosh. I mean you can just feel the excitement.
- 0:57Speaker 2: You can cut it with a knife, Mike yil uh, that's.
- 1:00Speaker 1: The I think you. Let me tell you, I did
- 1:03Speaker 1: not hear that bite beforehand. I just said, hey, we'll
- 1:06Speaker 1: go with that bite on the way back and I'll
- 1:08Speaker 1: react to it. And it says it is labeled. Hurts
- 1:12Speaker 1: says the new offense is exciting, and that is what
- 1:15Speaker 1: I got.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Well, imagine if that said Hurts doesn't really like the
- 1:19Speaker 2: new offense, you probably would have got the same tone.
- 1:24Speaker 1: You know, the new offense is what everybody's kind of
- 1:26Speaker 1: wondering here, and he says it's excited to learn new things.
- 1:30Speaker 1: But I wonder how much do you think Jalen was
- 1:34Speaker 1: ready to move on from everything that he's done before, Like,
- 1:37Speaker 1: do you think he said, you know what, guys, I
- 1:39Speaker 1: think we need a different offense that's never really been
- 1:45Speaker 1: considered throughout this we all just assumed that they felt
- 1:50Speaker 1: we need to do something different and made him. How
- 1:52Speaker 1: much input did maybe he have?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you know, he's the quarterback, so he
- 1:56Speaker 2: always has input and goes back to that story by
- 1:59Speaker 2: ESPN the last play against the forty nine ers, the
- 2:03Speaker 2: four vertz call and all that and his input. You know,
- 2:07Speaker 2: I don't think Jillen Hurts looks at the pass offense
- 2:11Speaker 2: in the last few years and thinks all we needed
- 2:13Speaker 2: was to keep doing the same thing and get better.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So I imagine he is excited for anything that might
- 2:19Speaker 2: give the offense a fresher look, a different look. But
- 2:23Speaker 2: at the same time, you know, I'm not in his head,
- 2:26Speaker 2: but you know, the offense looked a certain way because
- 2:29Speaker 2: they felt that that was the best Multiple coordinators felt
- 2:33Speaker 2: that that was really the best and most efficient way
- 2:36Speaker 2: to have the offense run, so that it becomes like
- 2:39Speaker 2: a catch twenty two situation. I don't know how much
- 2:42Speaker 2: he wanted to. I know he wants different results. I
- 2:44Speaker 2: don't know how much change that he wanted. But he's
- 2:47Speaker 2: got it and he has adapted before, so I'm sure
- 2:50Speaker 2: he'll have no issue adapting again as long. Most coaches
- 2:53Speaker 2: tell me, and most players tell me Mike, that they
- 2:55Speaker 2: are up for anything, any kind of coaching, any kind
- 2:58Speaker 2: of scheme and strategy, if it makes them a better
- 3:01Speaker 2: football player.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So Sewn Mannion said in his opening press conference that
- 3:06Speaker 1: he was going to blend the offense. Nick Sirianni was
- 3:09Speaker 1: asked about that today. You know, you know, blend the
- 3:12Speaker 1: offense with some of the things that Hurts has done well.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I guess my question is in the first year, after
- 3:21Speaker 1: seven games, they scrapped the offense and completely changed it. Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 1: Sean Manon is all right. I was gonna say, like,
- 3:28Speaker 1: does he have like a do you get ten games
- 3:31Speaker 1: to make sure this thing works because that's when their
- 3:33Speaker 1: bye week is, or do you think they're they're in
- 3:35Speaker 1: this for the long haul? Blending mean to.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You, yeah, I mean well, blending is a good that's
- 3:42Speaker 2: that remains to be seen. I think everybody winces a
- 3:45Speaker 2: little bit when they hear that. But honestly, there are
- 3:47Speaker 2: very good There are things that the Eagles have done
- 3:49Speaker 2: very well in an old offense. You know, the tush
- 3:52Speaker 2: pushes something they've done really well, deep balls down the sideline,
- 3:55Speaker 2: things that they've want done well. I would say no
- 3:58Speaker 2: huddle if they want to. I don't know how much
- 4:01Speaker 2: of that is prevalent in the Shanahan Lafleur McVeigh type
- 4:07Speaker 2: of scheme. You know, they're all a little bit different anyway,
- 4:09Speaker 2: But I don't know how much of them really use
- 4:11Speaker 2: no huddle the way the Eagles have used no huddle
- 4:13Speaker 2: advantageously over the past few years. And I think that
- 4:16Speaker 2: any good coach adapts to his scheme as well or
- 4:19Speaker 2: his personnel, I mean as well. So if Sean Mannion
- 4:23Speaker 2: really wants to get the most out of the Eagles
- 4:24Speaker 2: and capitalize on the strength of Jalen Hurts and what
- 4:27Speaker 2: he sees out there, he'll figure out a way to
- 4:30Speaker 2: make sure that they continue to use no huddle as well,
- 4:33Speaker 2: if he continues to see that being advantageous so that
- 4:36Speaker 2: when they say blend, that's what I think, and that's
- 4:40Speaker 2: what I hope and I imagine. But there's no question
- 4:43Speaker 2: you don't move on from a guy like Jeff Steutlin, right.
- 4:46Speaker 2: You don't bring in a guy who's only been coached
- 4:49Speaker 2: for two years and then let him hire other guys
- 4:51Speaker 2: like Ryan Mahaffey if you're not making the wholesale change
- 4:55Speaker 2: and committed to sticking to it.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and look, this is a team that has been
- 5:00Speaker 1: kind of run first, right, a run first oriented offense,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and now it's gonna be a more balanced attack, you
- 5:08Speaker 1: would think. The one question is we were talking about
- 5:11Speaker 1: this a little while ago, is I don't know if
- 5:13Speaker 1: you saw the exchange got him been going around between
- 5:16Speaker 1: Bob Myers and Darryl Moury, where Moury essentially or Meyer
- 5:21Speaker 1: essentially saying you got to have depth, and Moury saying, well,
- 5:24Speaker 1: how do you get the depth? You know, you went
- 5:25Speaker 1: out and signed Igodala. You didn't have to pay him.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You could have got three guys and gave him five million, right.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I guess with the wide receiver position, what's better. Two
- 5:33Speaker 1: stars are four good players, and.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think that depends on who you are offense. It's
- 5:40Speaker 2: worked to have two stars. It didn't make sense to
- 5:42Speaker 2: have four or five really good receivers for the Eagles
- 5:45Speaker 2: under their old offense because they only really targeted to
- 5:48Speaker 2: whiteouts and they didn't throw the ball all that much.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And I don't think they're gonna throw the ball a
- 5:52Speaker 2: whole lot more under this. I want to be clear
- 5:55Speaker 2: the purpose of what they expect from Sean Mannion, as
- 5:58Speaker 2: I understand it is to make sure that their run
- 6:02Speaker 2: game and their play action pass game has a good
- 6:07Speaker 2: marriage together. That it makes sense that your your run
- 6:10Speaker 2: players are setting up what you do in your passing
- 6:13Speaker 2: game through play action and being under center. So I
- 6:16Speaker 2: don't think they want to get away from being at
- 6:18Speaker 2: all from being a run first team. You know, they
- 6:21Speaker 2: may wind up that they run the ball as much,
- 6:24Speaker 2: or as frequently or as effectively as they did two
- 6:26Speaker 2: years ago with Sakuon Barkley. It's the whole point of
- 6:29Speaker 2: making sure that when they do pass, it is not
- 6:32Speaker 2: as predictable, it is more fresh, and it works off
- 6:35Speaker 2: of what they've already been doing in the run game,
- 6:37Speaker 2: both formationally and strategically.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Last week, I guess when Vic Fangio spoke, he kind
- 6:47Speaker 1: of slid in there that they're going to play Cooper
- 6:51Speaker 1: de Gene at safety. What was your takeaway from that comment?
- 6:54Speaker 1: That kind of just got slipped under there, And I
- 6:57Speaker 1: don't know that there was a lot of follow up
- 6:58Speaker 1: or it will help, No, there was.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I wrote a story about as was the biggest takeaway
- 7:03Speaker 2: I had the whole damn.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Pot I've said at the time. At the time had
- 7:07Speaker 1: like a follow up question to that. It's almost like
- 7:09Speaker 1: he answers it and then you have to like move on, right,
- 7:11Speaker 1: But he didn't really get to explain it. How did
- 7:14Speaker 1: you What did you take away from what he said? Well,
- 7:17Speaker 1: first of all, my biggest I read your story. I
- 7:19Speaker 1: ad the question.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I know, my biggest takeaway was that I love Vic
- 7:23Speaker 2: Fangio because as a reporter all I mean, man and
- 7:28Speaker 2: no offense to Nick Sirianni, But my god, was that
- 7:30Speaker 2: excruciating his press conference today. I mean just a just
- 7:34Speaker 2: not there's nothing. He's just looking and by the way,
- 7:36Speaker 2: it's not like we're slacious and we're looking for headler.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I mean, I just I want to hear information that
- 7:42Speaker 2: is x's and o's, that is personnel related, that makes
- 7:45Speaker 2: sense from a football standpoint. And so Vic killed two
- 7:49Speaker 2: birds with one stone with that revelation because when he
- 7:53Speaker 2: said that Cooper to Gene was gonna play bass, I'm
- 7:56Speaker 2: sorry safety in base. What he basically also said was
- 7:59Speaker 2: that he expects Riek Wollen to be a full time
- 8:03Speaker 2: outside cornerback, not somebody who's only coming in to play outside. Uh,
- 8:08Speaker 2: and then move to Gene from outside corner to nickel
- 8:11Speaker 2: like they did with the Dori Jackson. And I think
- 8:13Speaker 2: that that's fascinating because Vic really kind of salivated over
- 8:18Speaker 2: Riek Woll, and he said he watched a lot of
- 8:19Speaker 2: tape on him from last trade deadline in the offseason.
- 8:23Speaker 2: If you recall last training camp, Vic said he watched
- 8:26Speaker 2: no tape at all on adri Jackson when how he
- 8:29Speaker 2: signed him so or right away we don't have like
- 8:32Speaker 2: the kiss of death from mcfangel on tape watching. But
- 8:36Speaker 2: I think it's fascinating because the Seattle Seahawks, who just
- 8:39Speaker 2: won the Super Bowl with a great defense, just told
- 8:42Speaker 2: the NFL two things. One they didn't think that Rikuolan
- 8:46Speaker 2: should play on first down. Now, maybe it's because they
- 8:48Speaker 2: love their other personnel in that regard and they don't
- 8:51Speaker 2: think he's a great tackler. But Riequollin mostly played like
- 8:54Speaker 2: sixty percent of the game in Nickel only right, and two,
- 8:57Speaker 2: they were trying to trade him at the deadline, All right,
- 9:00Speaker 2: a Super Bowl team is trying to get rid of
- 9:02Speaker 2: a pretty big ends.
- 9:03Speaker 1: And Vic admitted that they were interested.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and yet Vic, who's as you know, bold and
- 9:10Speaker 2: not effusive as any krusty defensive coordinator league, is sort
- 9:14Speaker 2: of given you the opposite. He's raving over his size
- 9:17Speaker 2: and his length, and he's telling you he's gonna play,
- 9:20Speaker 2: you know, at least the plan. The plan is to
- 9:22Speaker 2: play him every snap at outside corner. So I just say,
- 9:26Speaker 2: as a reporter, I look at this and say, this
- 9:28Speaker 2: is awesome. Something's got to give. You know, either Vic's
- 9:30Speaker 2: right and Seattle's wrong, Seattle's right, Vic's wrong, or the
- 9:34Speaker 2: guy just was different in different schemes. But to me,
- 9:37Speaker 2: that's the fascinating part of the conversation.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So do you anticipate that his role in the defense
- 9:44Speaker 1: will be different than it's been? Riek Willens did Cooper.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Well, yeah, he's gonna play safety for rundowns and then
- 9:54Speaker 2: move to nickel in nickel back in nickel downs. And
- 9:58Speaker 2: by the way, the really interesting thing about that, Mike,
- 10:01Speaker 2: is that I wrote a story about this too. They're
- 10:05Speaker 2: playing about seven or eight teams the first the first
- 10:09Speaker 2: half of the year that ideally like to be in
- 10:13Speaker 2: twelve personnel. Okay, Now, the Eagles last year so the
- 10:17Speaker 2: most amount of snaps of eleven personnel. All right, so
- 10:20Speaker 2: they were in nickel eighty percent of the time because
- 10:23Speaker 2: that's three wide receivers, right, So with twelve personnel, when
- 10:26Speaker 2: two tight ends are on the field, right, usually vic
- 10:29Speaker 2: Fangeo is gonna go to his base defense. So if
- 10:33Speaker 2: these teams stay true to form and play a lot
- 10:36Speaker 2: of tight ends, and if they don't fall behind too
- 10:38Speaker 2: early and have to get into a passing game against
- 10:40Speaker 2: the Eagles, right, if the Eagles see a lot of
- 10:42Speaker 2: twelve personnel, then you'll probably see Degene playing more safety
- 10:46Speaker 2: this year than he did outside corner last year. And
- 10:50Speaker 2: that means you'll see rolling on the field the whole time. Anyway,
- 10:53Speaker 2: So that's a lot that's interesting to me.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yeah, how much I guess they've used Cooper as that
- 11:01Speaker 1: slot nickel corner you know pretty much, you know, because
- 11:04Speaker 1: it was, like you said, you're not in your base
- 11:06Speaker 1: defense all that much.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Right, last year, the Eagles were in about seventy five
- 11:11Speaker 2: percent of the time. And even some teams that normally
- 11:14Speaker 2: played like, for example, they played the Rams last year.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Week four was that, right? Week four was the block
- 11:20Speaker 2: punt game, blockfield yah.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And ironically they played the Rams in Week
- 11:24Speaker 1: four again this year.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Right, So if you go back to that game, the
- 11:27Speaker 2: Rams had not yet become the three tight end team
- 11:32Speaker 2: that they shocked the world with last year by by
- 11:34Speaker 2: about middle of the year. The Rams last year played
- 11:37Speaker 2: like thirty percent of thirteen personnel three tight ends, one
- 11:40Speaker 2: running back, and one receiver. So that's a very uncommon
- 11:45Speaker 2: personnel grouping, and the Rams played it more than like
- 11:48Speaker 2: three times more than the next highest team. But when
- 11:52Speaker 2: the Eagles played them, they weren't at that stage of
- 11:54Speaker 2: their development yet and they played mostly eleven personnel. And
- 11:58Speaker 2: same thing with the Niners. When Kittle got hurt, they
- 12:01Speaker 2: had to play a lot more eleven personnel than twenty
- 12:04Speaker 2: one or twelve personnel. So interestingly, that's why the Eagles
- 12:07Speaker 2: faced a lot eleven They even some of the twelve
- 12:09Speaker 2: personnel teams weren't playing twelve personnel against them.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's really wonky stuff.
- 12:16Speaker 2: By the way, we we just got really deep into
- 12:18Speaker 2: like Titan.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Well, then the safety combo, like for the listeners out there,
- 12:24Speaker 1: we're saying is Drew mccuba and Cooper Degene.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah. So so what the Eagles don't really need now
- 12:30Speaker 2: is a starting safety as much as they need a
- 12:34Speaker 2: nickel safety, a third safety for when Degene goes to
- 12:39Speaker 2: the nickelback slot and that so that that will either
- 12:42Speaker 2: be Marcus Epps, maybe Michael Carter the second who got
- 12:45Speaker 2: reps there today, you know that's what they're really looking for.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Who takes on that slot corner role.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Then, No, that's the Gene. He's the slot corner in nickel.
- 12:56Speaker 2: He moves from safety to nickel and then you put
- 12:59Speaker 2: it in your.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so at that point then you're gonna have Woolen, Dejene,
- 13:05Speaker 1: and Quinnyon will be your three corners, and then Makuba
- 13:09Speaker 1: and probably Epps at this point right now would be
- 13:13Speaker 1: the guy that moves into that spot.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, And that was another revelation from Vic I mean
- 13:17Speaker 2: he kind of he kind of made it sound like
- 13:21Speaker 2: he was pleasantly surprised by Marcus EPs last year and
- 13:24Speaker 2: that he didn't even he didn't play as quote unquote
- 13:27Speaker 2: as old as his age would say that he is,
- 13:29Speaker 2: you know, because he's gonna be I think he's thirty
- 13:31Speaker 2: or gonna be thirty when the season starts. So clear
- 13:35Speaker 2: clearly Marcus EPs has the leg up, you know, That's
- 13:39Speaker 2: that's what he thinks.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Now.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I think athletically, Michael Carter the second would give them
- 13:44Speaker 2: a little bit more, but that's why they're gonna have
- 13:46Speaker 2: a competition and we'll see if anybody else can get
- 13:49Speaker 2: in there.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny because last week when he went through
- 13:52Speaker 1: all the options at safety, he mentioned like every single
- 13:55Speaker 1: safety you can think of, except for Cole Wasnwski, the
- 13:58Speaker 1: guy that they drafted, right. I mean, I don't know
- 14:00Speaker 1: if he just kind of slipped his mind or it's
- 14:02Speaker 1: always like, it's funny when Siriani mentioned one of the
- 14:05Speaker 1: running backs a couple of years ago, Oh he might
- 14:07Speaker 1: like that running back and that guy we never heard
- 14:09Speaker 1: from again. So correct, Paul was Nowski. Don't take it
- 14:11Speaker 1: as a slight.
- 14:12Speaker 2: No, I mean First of all, he's a seventh round pick.
- 14:14Speaker 2: He's a little bit big for the position. They may
- 14:16Speaker 2: have more of a linebacker role for him. I mean,
- 14:20Speaker 2: if he's gonna make the team, it's gonna be because
- 14:21Speaker 2: of special teams. There's no It seemed like there was
- 14:25Speaker 2: an avenue there because we were having a lot of
- 14:26Speaker 2: questions about who's the starting safety. But now that we
- 14:29Speaker 2: know that Degene is the starting safety, there's really not
- 14:31Speaker 2: an avenue for with Nowski to be I think the
- 14:34Speaker 2: third safety unless for some reason he is just lights out.
- 14:38Speaker 2: You know, he's like the Darius Cooper of this year's
- 14:41Speaker 2: training camp, but just makes all these plays and forces
- 14:43Speaker 2: himself into the equation.
- 14:46Speaker 1: If Jeff Moscher was looking at, you know, adding something,
- 14:51Speaker 1: would you be interested in Josh Schwett.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I mean, yes, of course, But but then you've got
- 15:01Speaker 2: to kind of figure out you do it to get
- 15:03Speaker 2: a good player. But then you've got to get rid
- 15:05Speaker 2: of some some players because you know you got you're
- 15:08Speaker 2: already four deep with Ebi Ketty right as you're yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 2: I mean you got Jylex Hunt, you got Nolan Smith,
- 15:14Speaker 2: you got Jonathan Gernard, you got Arnold Ebichhetty as your
- 15:17Speaker 2: top four right there. Vic typically only plays three. And
- 15:21Speaker 2: by the way, if Brandon Brandon Graham comes back, then
- 15:24Speaker 2: you got another guy who's definitely gonna play. So if
- 15:27Speaker 2: you're adding another edge rusher, whether it's Josh Sweat or
- 15:30Speaker 2: I know, Miles Garrett, then there's no way all these
- 15:33Speaker 2: guys are gonna know you.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Are likely you would likely be giving up. Let's say
- 15:39Speaker 1: Nolan Smith, you know, hey, you drove one hundred and
- 15:42Speaker 1: thirty seven miles an hour. We're not happy with that.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And I don't know that they want to you know
- 15:46Speaker 1: that fifty year option and and his contractual situation. Uh.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Is he a guy that they would say, you know what,
- 15:52Speaker 1: we'd move on from.
- 15:54Speaker 2: No, I cannot see it. I cannot imagine a one
- 15:56Speaker 2: for one time like Nolan Smith for for Josh Sweat trade. No,
- 16:02Speaker 2: Josh WIT's at the downside of his career. Nolan Smith,
- 16:04Speaker 2: say what you want, Uh, injuries or are driving one
- 16:07Speaker 2: hundred and something else proor I mean he's got a
- 16:10Speaker 2: lot of.
- 16:10Speaker 1: When you see Nolan do you see Nolan Smith in
- 16:13Speaker 1: their big in their long term, big picture plans.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I don't know that that. I can't say, you know,
- 16:19Speaker 2: I'm so.
- 16:19Speaker 1: If you think if if they know that, do you say,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know what for a crack at a super Bowl
- 16:25Speaker 1: this year? Josh Wett was pretty important the last time.
- 16:28Speaker 1: He's still got something left in the tank.
- 16:31Speaker 2: He's not gonna do a bad how He's not gonna
- 16:33Speaker 2: do a bad deal just just to do a bad deal.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I mean, you know, if the if the Cardinals want
- 16:38Speaker 2: to give the Eagles like a second round pick in
- 16:41Speaker 2: Josh Sweat or a third and then maybe it's a conversation,
- 16:44Speaker 2: but he's not gonna take He's not gonna write.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying it has to be a one for one.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Maybe you get creative and add some other pieces to it,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but just saying player for player, because this goes to
- 16:55Speaker 1: my conversation that I've been saying about AJ Brown. If
- 16:57Speaker 1: you're chading AJ Brown and you're not getting anything back
- 17:00Speaker 1: to help this team out, that still bothers me a
- 17:03Speaker 1: little bit.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Understood. Understood, Yeah, but yeah, but no, I mean, first
- 17:09Speaker 2: of all, I think that it's I haven't looked at it.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I think the cap hit the Arizona would take would
- 17:14Speaker 2: be pretty exorbitant, so they probably want a lot in
- 17:17Speaker 2: the trade. I just it doesn't seem like good partnership there.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Uh. Daniel Jeremiah had an interesting tweet the other day.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I want to get your response to this. Okay, okay,
- 17:28Speaker 1: did you did you see it?
- 17:30Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. I don't think so.
- 17:31Speaker 1: He said, I like to revisit this concept for any Sorry,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I saw it. To build a championship foundation, you need
- 17:37Speaker 1: these twelve spots. One. You need a quarterback. Do the
- 17:41Speaker 1: Eagles have that?
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Okay? You need three offensive playmakers? Do the Eagles have that? Uh?
- 17:50Speaker 2: Barkley DeVante Smith is two for sure? I mean, I
- 17:55Speaker 2: you know, I don't he don't. He kind of leaves
- 17:56Speaker 2: that vague there, Like I mean, I think, god, it's
- 17:59Speaker 2: a playmaker. So I'm fine with that. I mean, Mikayle
- 18:01Speaker 2: Lemon could be a playmaker. But yeah, I think they're good.
- 18:04Speaker 1: There three quality offensive linemen.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Well, they surely have two. I'm gonna go ahead and say, yes,
- 18:11Speaker 2: they have three, even though we have some questions about
- 18:13Speaker 2: Jurgens and Dickerson.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Two pass rushers, yeah, and three defensive playmakers.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Okay, more than that. Three defensive playmark. Yeah, you've got uh.
- 18:30Speaker 2: We got I mean, you got two right there, de
- 18:32Speaker 2: Jean and Mitchell right, and then you got your your
- 18:33Speaker 2: edge rushers. I mean, Jylex Hunt last year led them
- 18:36Speaker 2: in sacks and interceptions, so I consider him a playmaker.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I mean, Jalen Carter is one of the I mean, yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 2: they're they're they're stocked there.
- 18:43Speaker 1: The three quality offensive line is very arbitrary on health. Yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 1: the Eagles offensive line is akin to the Sixers relying
- 18:52Speaker 1: on Joelle and Beat and Paul George.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Oh, let's not go that far. We've got one. We
- 18:56Speaker 2: only have one year of Eagles offensive line wear and tear,
- 18:59Speaker 2: not like consistent everything year.
- 19:02Speaker 1: To be fair, Lane Johnson has missed a lot of
- 19:04Speaker 1: games over the last I mean he'll miss four here,
- 19:07Speaker 1: eight there. You know.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that that's that part of it, Lane, a
- 19:11Speaker 2: little fair.
- 19:11Speaker 1: But yeah, he's getting to that part of his career
- 19:14Speaker 1: where it's like Jason Peters was in his last couple
- 19:16Speaker 1: of years in Philadelphia.
- 19:18Speaker 2: That's a good analogy.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah, You're like, I know, I can only get
- 19:22Speaker 1: him for eight games. We just need to get him
- 19:23Speaker 1: to the playoffs healthy. Uh and Landon Dickerson, we have
- 19:27Speaker 1: no idea where his career is going to go. From here.
- 19:29Speaker 2: That's correct, We don't. I mean, this is a huge
- 19:31Speaker 2: year for Landon Dickerson. You considered retirement, He's coming back.
- 19:34Speaker 2: He's had multiple, multiple, multiple surgeries. I mean it was
- 19:39Speaker 2: five now six procedures on on his lower legs. So, uh,
- 19:43Speaker 2: you know, the biggest thing right now that the Eagles
- 19:46Speaker 2: need is some bonafide interior offensive line depth that you know,
- 19:50Speaker 2: can step in and play at a high level at
- 19:52Speaker 2: guard or center.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher candidates for breakout season.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Oh, I thought you were gonna go through the one
- 20:03Speaker 2: my story? Okay, uh yeah, So what I got, Mike?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Who do I have?
- 20:10Speaker 1: Oh?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Dontavian Wicks? Who is not at the uh? Ohja. You know,
- 20:14Speaker 2: I think Dontavian Wicks is a good candidate, Mike, because
- 20:17Speaker 2: he's gonna get a lot of opportunity at what we
- 20:20Speaker 2: call the X spot. Now. I don't know if in
- 20:22Speaker 2: Sewan Mannion's offense, if it's they're gonna be so condensed
- 20:26Speaker 2: and but it's not gonna matter who's X, Who's why,
- 20:28Speaker 2: Who's he doesn't matter? But without a J Brown, he
- 20:31Speaker 2: is their tall, physical, strong receiver. And you know, I
- 20:36Speaker 2: have to think that he I would have to think
- 20:38Speaker 2: inside Wicks knew that people thought that second year he
- 20:42Speaker 2: was really gonna break out, and it never happened. Then
- 20:44Speaker 2: he sort of regressed last year. I kind of hope
- 20:46Speaker 2: that he comes here with a little bit of a
- 20:47Speaker 2: chip on his shoulder and you know, feels wanted by
- 20:51Speaker 2: Seawan Mannion and really driven to be a more consistent
- 20:54Speaker 2: player because he's got all the tools. I'm not saying
- 20:56Speaker 2: he's gonna be a j Brown or fourteen hundred yards,
- 20:59Speaker 2: but I think it could be seven to eight hundred
- 21:01Speaker 2: yards in this offense if he's that kind of guy,
- 21:05Speaker 2: And you know, it might really benefit him to be
- 21:07Speaker 2: with Jalen Hurts, who likes to throw deep in outside
- 21:09Speaker 2: the numbers because he's a good, contested catch kind of guy.
- 21:13Speaker 1: All right, Well, OTAs continue. They're off tomorrow, they're back
- 21:16Speaker 1: on Friday, and then next week a couple of days.
- 21:20Speaker 1: They are back on Monday and Tuesday. Next week, I think, no,
- 21:23Speaker 1: they're back on Wednesday, and Monday and Tuesday they're off Wednesday,
- 21:27Speaker 1: they're back on Thursday next week. So you got a
- 21:30Speaker 1: little bit of eagles here for the next two weeks.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Then you have a mandatory coming up and by the
- 21:35Speaker 1: time we get to the mandatory, I would imagine number
- 21:37Speaker 1: eleven is gone and we will be able to move
- 21:40Speaker 1: on with the almost almost finished product for training camp,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and Jeff Moscher and the guys at Inside the Birds
- 21:47Speaker 1: will have plenty more over at Inside the Birds dot
- 21:49Speaker 1: Com and the Inside the Birds podcast, which you can
- 21:52Speaker 1: get on all podcasting platforms, and right here daily on
- 21:56Speaker 1: Football at four. All right, man, good stuff, all right,
- 21:59Speaker 1: take care of my
