- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time presented by
- 0:08Speaker 1: Prize Picks. My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening
- 0:11Speaker 1: wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:15Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. It is.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Thursdays with Foxworth.
- 0:25Speaker 1: However, I feel like we need to talk about the
- 0:28Speaker 1: fact we got some new digs around these parts.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you normally ask me, like you just throw it
- 0:33Speaker 3: to me to start and I rarely have anything and
- 0:35Speaker 3: we go anywhere.
- 0:36Speaker 2: This time I was ready. I was about to say it.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I don't know how many people listening or how many
- 0:41Speaker 3: people are on YouTube, but... If you are a listener normally,
- 0:45Speaker 3: when your car stops or whatever, just go and get
- 0:47Speaker 3: on YouTube and check out this new set. That may
- 0:50Speaker 3: make me feel insecure, insufficient over here.
- 0:52Speaker 1: No, man, we got some new digs. Our new partners
- 0:55Speaker 1: at Playmaker Sports, you may have noticed the logo on
- 0:58Speaker 1: the microphone before and other things. We just hadn't really
- 1:00Speaker 1: talked about it because we wanted to roll it all
- 1:02Speaker 1: out at one time. We've got a new studio. We've
- 1:05Speaker 1: got new imaging, right? It's just a chance to kind
- 1:07Speaker 1: of spruce this up. Our time with Wave Sports was fantastic.
- 1:10Speaker 1: They got us to different places, and now we're here
- 1:12Speaker 1: with Playmaker Sports. and this is going to help take
- 1:14Speaker 1: us even farther. He can't talk today, but I got
- 1:18Speaker 1: Ryan over here. We're actually in the same place. The
- 1:20Speaker 1: question that I have is, what does the woman at
- 1:23Speaker 1: the front desk think I've been doing for money, and
- 1:25Speaker 1: what does she think I'm doing for money now?
- 1:27Speaker 2: I'm talking about in my building.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I just moved in that bad boy, and all I'm
- 1:30Speaker 1: ever doing is just walking around, just around there. I
- 1:33Speaker 1: can't imagine what she thinks I do for anything, right?
- 1:38Speaker 1: And now, for the first time in six years, I
- 1:40Speaker 1: got to put drawers on before I come talk to you.
- 1:45Speaker 3: There's so many unusual situations and unusual people in.
- 1:49Speaker 2: That magnificent city.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I imagine that she has an archetype in her mind
- 1:54Speaker 3: of what you're up to.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure.
- 1:57Speaker 3: That it's not what it actually is, but you should
- 2:00Speaker 3: interview her one day. Because you know that she's sitting
- 2:03Speaker 3: there all day and she knows your ins and outs
- 2:06Speaker 3: and whereabouts. You know she concocted some story, told her friends.
- 2:09Speaker 2: This young brother, mood in the building.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yep, yep, there it is right there. You don't seem
- 2:15Speaker 1: like no gangster, right?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I got no idea, but no, we're going to be
- 2:19Speaker 1: here four days a week making this work.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Oh, I just figured it out. I'm sorry. She think
- 2:25Speaker 2: you caught a case. She think that you caught a
- 2:29Speaker 2: slip and fall. Oh, I got a settlement. Yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 3: She wondered if you got the lump sum or you
- 2:37Speaker 3: got it paid over.
- 2:38Speaker 2: A long stretch. Interesting.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You pulled off the Tracy Morgan. Oh, yes. Yes.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Well, I tell you this, though. He earned that money. Sure.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And one day I'm going to ask her because one
- 2:50Speaker 1: of the cats on the weekend, he just because I
- 2:52Speaker 1: came across in his Instagram feed.
- 2:54Speaker 2: He saw that. It was like, hey, bro, I saw you, brother.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And I'm wondering if his phone heard me in the lobby.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And then it all like tied over a came together
- 3:03Speaker 1: or whatever it is, because he's not a sports fan.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Right. So they caught me. He saw me talking about
- 3:09Speaker 2: hip hop.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And this definitely means when I see him on Saturday,
- 3:12Speaker 1: he gonna have something to say to me.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Shit. Can we get to that at some point? I
- 3:16Speaker 2: know we got to do sports stuff first. But at
- 3:18Speaker 2: some point, I have some thoughts on this.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll get to the baby face thing.
- 3:22Speaker 1: This has been a wild, wild, wild. Like, the things
- 3:26Speaker 1: that people have said about me this week.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Over something so inconsequential.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Over something inconsequential. Between that and some people not liking
- 3:34Speaker 1: my wire copaganda thing. I'm a fake leftist co-on. Oh, God.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You know, I just threw a hyphen in it, Dominique.
- 3:44Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying?
- 3:46Speaker 1: I got you.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I got you.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I'm a koan.
- 3:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:52Speaker 2: You know? Yeah, you definitely are not that. I am
- 3:54Speaker 2: definitely not that. Hey, let me say this.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Right fast before we go on. Since I mentioned koan,
- 3:58Speaker 1: koan is on the stairway to heaven, Liz. When white
- 4:03Speaker 1: people call somebody a koan, they mean it negatively. And
- 4:07Speaker 1: when black people call somebody a koan, they mean it negatively.
- 4:11Speaker 2: However, everybody be like, hell yeah, I can't stand a koan. Yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 2: I can't stand a koan.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And then white people point out the example of a koan,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and it's just a black dude, and the black people are.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Like, hey, hey, hey.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey, hey, wait a minute, wait a minute,
- 4:26Speaker 1: what's going on here? And the black people are like,
- 4:28Speaker 1: that's not what a koan is. A koan is somebody like,
- 4:33Speaker 1: you know.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Some people would say that Herschel Walker was a koan.
- 4:42Speaker 2: There you go.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Some people, I was not going to say that. Some
- 4:44Speaker 1: people would say that Herschel Walker was a koan. And
- 4:48Speaker 1: then that white person who uses koan that other way,
- 4:51Speaker 1: they pop up and like, but I like him. Because
- 4:54Speaker 1: if a black person think he a koan, white people
- 4:57Speaker 1: like that person. If a white person think he a koan,
- 5:00Speaker 1: black people, now we got to defend him. You understand
- 5:03Speaker 1: what I'm saying? So anyway, that's how it makes the
- 5:06Speaker 1: stairway to heaven. It sounds the same, but they different.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Stairways to heaven.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I'm glad you kept talking because I was going to
- 5:14Speaker 3: say some names and I was smart enough not to
- 5:16Speaker 3: say that. Then I was going to start hinting around
- 5:19Speaker 3: and then the problem with that is it's not specific enough.
- 5:23Speaker 2: That's right. I feel like I could name some politicians
- 5:26Speaker 2: and I'd be straight, but whatever.
- 5:27Speaker 1: The other part is we legitimately believe that Koan is
- 5:31Speaker 1: fighting words. And God, I hope I don't have to
- 5:36Speaker 1: fight Herschel Walker. That's all I'm left with. But I
- 5:40Speaker 1: feel like I did my part. But hey, we got
- 5:45Speaker 1: a lot of NFL action for you YouTube viewers. We're
- 5:48Speaker 1: going to be working on my eyelines a little bit.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm going to be looking a little sporadic. Sometimes I'm
- 5:51Speaker 1: looking down, sometimes I'm looking up. Dominique's up there. It's new.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Clearly you can tell. We moving in here.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I ain't had a chance to put everything, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: up on the walls yet. Have the Raiders earned the.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Top of our show? I feel like they've earned the
- 6:05Speaker 2: top of our show.
- 6:05Speaker 1: We have a battle of 3-0 teams, except it doesn't
- 6:08Speaker 1: feel like they're 3-0 teams because one of them is
- 6:10Speaker 1: the Raiders.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:13Speaker 3: There was no way I thought at the beginning of
- 6:14Speaker 3: this season that this game was going.
- 6:16Speaker 2: To matter in any way.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I thought the Chiefs were going to be bad, and
- 6:20Speaker 3: I knew the Raiders were going to be bad. The
- 6:21Speaker 3: Raiders always bad. They doing this Kirk Cousins thing? No,
- 6:24Speaker 3: this ain't going to work out. Come to find out
- 6:26Speaker 3: that Raiders defense is for real. And I think the
- 6:29Speaker 3: offense caught up last week when Brock Bowers was healthy.
- 6:32Speaker 3: That was their first real test. They won games against
- 6:36Speaker 3: teams that we thought were in their neighborhood. And then
- 6:39Speaker 3: the Saints are the first team that they played that was.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Like, oh, okay.
- 6:42Speaker 3: If you can fuck with the Saints, then you're a
- 6:45Speaker 3: serious outfit. And the Saints just barely gained our respect
- 6:49Speaker 3: this season. There were a lot of people like hipster
- 6:51Speaker 3: pick because they had a ton of talent, but putting
- 6:53Speaker 3: it all together is another thing. But they went toe-to-toe
- 6:55Speaker 3: with these teams and with the Saints and came out
- 6:58Speaker 3: on top. And the offense showed up. Like, we're going
- 7:00Speaker 3: to give a lot of credit to Kubiak. I think
- 7:03Speaker 3: the head coach and offensive engine over there. And I
- 7:07Speaker 3: think he deserves it. Like, he's overachieved. And, you know,
- 7:10Speaker 3: that's the coach of the year is based on, like,
- 7:13Speaker 3: who better than we thought.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Hey, let me tell you something, man.
- 7:16Speaker 1: When Dennis Green was the head coach at Northwestern, and
- 7:20Speaker 1: for those of you who are too young to remember this,
- 7:22Speaker 1: Northwestern used to be capital T, capital W. The worst. Okay.
- 7:26Speaker 1: They had a year that they went, I want to
- 7:29Speaker 1: call it, two and nine. Two and nine for the
- 7:32Speaker 1: whole season. Two and whatever in the Big Ten. Dennis
- 7:36Speaker 1: Green was Big Ten Coach of the Year. Because that's
- 7:40Speaker 1: what that was. How many games should you really have
- 7:43Speaker 1: to win to be Coach of the Year for the
- 7:45Speaker 1: Raiders at this point? You play 17 road games a year. Okay.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Nick and Danny are going to be at that game.
- 7:54Speaker 1: In Las Vegas. I only say this because I heard
- 7:56Speaker 1: them already say it. They're going to be at that game.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Why?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Because Nick's a Chiefs fan. You get the point, right?
- 8:02Speaker 1: All you're doing over there is playing road games.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I mean, that's another complication of being in Vegas, but I'm.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Not sure if I told you this story before, but
- 8:13Speaker 2: when I was.
- 8:15Speaker 3: At the Union and we were starting to try to
- 8:17Speaker 3: fiddle with the Pro Bowl, collaborate with the NFL to
- 8:20Speaker 3: fiddle with the Pro Bowl to try to move it
- 8:22Speaker 3: to somewhere else, other than Hawaii, like making more fun.
- 8:26Speaker 3: And I kept pushing and suggesting Vegas. I was like
- 8:28Speaker 3: in my third year, third or fourth year in the league.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And Roger and most of the leadership on that side
- 8:35Speaker 3: was like, hell no. And then a bunch of players
- 8:38Speaker 3: went and got arrested down there during NBA all-star weekend.
- 8:41Speaker 2: And I was like, oh yeah, I guess you guys
- 8:42Speaker 2: are right.
- 8:43Speaker 3: So on top of the coach of the year candidacy
- 8:48Speaker 3: for Kubiak, he.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Got them boys in Vegas, right? All year round, he
- 8:53Speaker 2: got them young boys in Vegas, and somehow.
- 8:56Speaker 3: He getting them to the games on a regular basis,
- 8:59Speaker 3: showing up prepared and ready to play.
- 9:00Speaker 1: But I feel like maybe that's kind of the bright
- 9:02Speaker 1: side of having the team in Vegas is that them
- 9:05Speaker 1: boys is always going to be with their driving distance
- 9:07Speaker 1: of the facility. If you can just talk them in, like, hey, man,
- 9:09Speaker 1: just come in and put in an hour, dog. Just
- 9:11Speaker 1: put in a couple, you know. Then the rest of
- 9:14Speaker 1: the day is yours.
- 9:15Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 9:17Speaker 3: The problem, though, like Vegas is one of those places
- 9:19Speaker 3: where you can develop some friendships with people that you
- 9:23Speaker 3: don't really. I'm not worried as much about like, oh,
- 9:27Speaker 3: they're going to go out and act up.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I'm worried about they're there all the time. A lot
- 9:32Speaker 2: of time. I mean, it's hard enough to keep the
- 9:35Speaker 2: UNLV dudes. Yeah. That's the only coach that's like, don't
- 9:39Speaker 2: stay here during the offseason. Yeah, roll out. Go to
- 9:41Speaker 2: your small town, please.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Let me say this about the Raiders, though, and you
- 9:44Speaker 1: mentioned the Kirk Cousins thing. For the long-term health of
- 9:46Speaker 1: that franchise, I don't think anything is better than if
- 9:49Speaker 1: you could take your quarterback and then somehow figure out
- 9:52Speaker 1: to be like a 7-10, 8-9 team, right? Not that good.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You still, you know, have decent draft position. but there
- 10:00Speaker 1: is no pressure for you to play your young quarterback,
- 10:05Speaker 1: you know, and look, Mendoza ain't.
- 10:06Speaker 2: But so young, like he'd be better around.
- 10:08Speaker 1: The block a few times, but if they can get
- 10:10Speaker 1: through this whole season without having to play him, I
- 10:13Speaker 1: don't have the data to indicate this. I just feel
- 10:15Speaker 1: like it works out better if you don't have to
- 10:17Speaker 1: play the guy.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I think that that might be, I agree with you,
- 10:23Speaker 3: but I would argue that it's less because he doesn't
- 10:27Speaker 3: play and more because.
- 10:29Speaker 2: He doesn't have to play.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Meaning that it's less about him sitting and watching and learning.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I think that's an easy, like one-to-one story to tell
- 10:38Speaker 3: and more about your team is good enough.
- 10:41Speaker 2: To support a young quarterback.
- 10:44Speaker 3: And if your team is good enough to rack up
- 10:46Speaker 3: a couple wins without putting a ton of pressure on
- 10:49Speaker 3: your young quarterback, whether he's in the game or out
- 10:52Speaker 3: of the game or on the sideline watching, I think
- 10:55Speaker 3: that's the part that is valuable is that you're actually
- 10:59Speaker 3: dropping an underdeveloped piece into a situation that has all
- 11:05Speaker 3: the support and infrastructure. I've been making this point for
- 11:08Speaker 3: over a decade now. that all the best quarterbacks in
- 11:11Speaker 3: the league came into good situations they grow into great
- 11:15Speaker 3: quarterbacks but they aren't initially like all the guys that
- 11:18Speaker 3: you think about are the best with the exception of
- 11:20Speaker 3: joe burrow but he's been injured up and down who
- 11:23Speaker 3: knows like throughout recent history those guys they started in
- 11:27Speaker 3: situations that were better than most of the situations that
- 11:31Speaker 3: quarterbacks end up in and i think that's a real
- 11:33Speaker 3: determinative factor and worth noting that Joe Burrow's situation, maybe
- 11:37Speaker 3: that first year wasn't the best, but that next year,
- 11:40Speaker 3: the thing that Joe Burrow's always had when I've seen
- 11:42Speaker 3: him be good, Jamar.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Chase, Hall of Fame, get ready. Yeah, that was a
- 11:49Speaker 2: pretty good situation.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Let's just take this moment to appreciate that they let
- 11:53Speaker 1: Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and Justin Jefferson be on the
- 11:56Speaker 1: same team in college. There was a college team where
- 12:02Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson was not the best receiver On the team.
- 12:11Speaker 2: What was anybody supposed to do with that?
- 12:14Speaker 3: Most of the teams you go up against don't have
- 12:17Speaker 3: an NFL starter at corner on the other side.
- 12:20Speaker 2: No, no. So whatever scheme you coming up.
- 12:24Speaker 3: With requires you to address two Hall of Famers.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Yes. Because that's what they're going to be. with insurance salesmen.
- 12:35Speaker 2: A pack of insurance salesmen. We're going to figure it out. Oh, yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And by the way, the other teams don't have NFL corners,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but your team has Daryl Stingley. Derek, not Daryl Stingley.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Derek Stingley.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It's more fraught.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You know, I mess up Justin and Jordan Jefferson a lot,
- 12:50Speaker 1: but throwing Daryl Stingley out there by accident, that just
- 12:53Speaker 1: makes everybody sad. Yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 2: That reminds us that we're all excited about it a
- 12:58Speaker 2: little bit more. Yeah, that's correct. That's correct. That's correct.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Chiefs offense, how sustainable do you think this is that
- 13:05Speaker 1: we've seen? Because I still feel like he ain't throwing
- 13:06Speaker 1: to nobody.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's pretty sustainable. But you're right.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I think it's not, like, foolproof. And that's, like, they
- 13:17Speaker 3: spoiled us. And whenever we see it early on when
- 13:21Speaker 3: he had– uh like peak kelsey and peak um uh
- 13:26Speaker 3: tyreek we got a sense of what this offense could
- 13:28Speaker 3: be in peak mahomes who was like trying to make
- 13:31Speaker 3: a name for himself like trying to win mvps we
- 13:34Speaker 3: don't have that guy anymore that's pushing not that he
- 13:37Speaker 3: doesn't have the ability but he doesn't seem to be
- 13:39Speaker 3: trying to like damn it he knows that his his
- 13:42Speaker 3: career is going to be determined by super bowls and
- 13:44Speaker 3: he's playing that way uh and i think the offense
- 13:47Speaker 3: is sustainable but it's not going to be like record-breaking, scary, like,
- 13:52Speaker 3: we can go ahead and cash this in before you
- 13:54Speaker 3: show up.
- 13:55Speaker 2: We know you're going to win. And that's because.
- 13:58Speaker 3: You're just not going to find that type of talent. Like,
- 14:00Speaker 3: we talk about Hall of Famers. These guys, that's what
- 14:02Speaker 3: they had out there. And it's just never going to
- 14:04Speaker 3: be that where you can throw a short pass to Tyreek,
- 14:07Speaker 3: he's going to take it to the crib.
- 14:08Speaker 2: You can throw a medium pass to Tyreek, he's going
- 14:11Speaker 2: to take it to the crib.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And Mahomes and Kelsey are going to have to use
- 14:14Speaker 3: their brain meld to find an option on third down
- 14:17Speaker 3: to get another set of downs.
- 14:18Speaker 1: It's just.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You ain't getting that back. You ain't finding no guys
- 14:21Speaker 2: like that. So, yeah, that ain't happening.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Hey, man, we mentioned Joe Burrow. We got Cincinnati and
- 14:27Speaker 1: Jacksonville on Sunday. That is a very intriguing matchup, right?
- 14:32Speaker 1: You could argue it is a very good matchup. And
- 14:36Speaker 1: it feels weird. even after all these years, to be like, oh, both.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Of them are pretty good.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I might tune in to see them do battle. And
- 14:42Speaker 1: I feel like this game can only go one way
- 14:44Speaker 1: with those two quarterbacks. Both of them play pretty well,
- 14:47Speaker 1: and then at the end, one of them is going
- 14:48Speaker 1: to make a mistake, and then the other team is
- 14:49Speaker 1: going to win, and then that one guy is going
- 14:50Speaker 1: to get blamed for it.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's probably about right.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I actually think the Jags running game has been so
- 14:57Speaker 3: effective this year that that gives me a little bit
- 15:00Speaker 3: more like, faith in what they got going on and
- 15:05Speaker 3: the chiefs defense or super chiefs, the, um, the Bengals defense,
- 15:08Speaker 3: like statistically it's much more improved in, in certain games
- 15:11Speaker 3: have seen dominant, especially up front. Um, what happened to
- 15:14Speaker 3: them last week at the Steelers? Like, I'm not sure
- 15:17Speaker 3: how many games it takes for me to like completely
- 15:22Speaker 3: believe in a unit or a group, but given the
- 15:25Speaker 3: Bengals history, I'm gonna need more than two.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Cause that's what they gave me.
- 15:28Speaker 3: It was like two defensive games, one against the Texans,
- 15:32Speaker 3: And then went up against the Steelers offense that we
- 15:34Speaker 3: thought was buns and didn't show up. So like, I,
- 15:38Speaker 3: I have not been completely converted to a bangles defensive
- 15:41Speaker 3: believer yet.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. I don't know how many
- 15:43Speaker 1: games they'd have to play. Like my priors on that
- 15:46Speaker 1: are so strong boy. Like you, you, you not just
- 15:49Speaker 1: shaking me. off of that one speaking of shaking off
- 15:52Speaker 1: of priors shout out to that boy liam cohen because
- 15:56Speaker 1: uh i mean he had a introductory press conference to
- 16:00Speaker 1: overcome and i would be honest with you usually they
- 16:02Speaker 1: don't nick seriotti has been to two super bowls and
- 16:05Speaker 1: one one still hasn't really overcome that press conference don't
- 16:09Speaker 1: get me started on adam gaze did dan campbell overcome
- 16:12Speaker 1: the press conference or simply change the way we looked
- 16:16Speaker 1: at the press conference.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Dan didn't overcome it, for sure. Dan, see, the
- 16:20Speaker 2: thing that... He just made you like it.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that Gase and Sirianni left their press
- 16:27Speaker 3: conferences and wished they had a do-over.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Dan Campbell left that press conference and was like, I
- 16:32Speaker 3: expressed exactly what I wanted to express. Y'all can choose
- 16:35Speaker 3: to think it's funny or whatever, or think I'm a
- 16:38Speaker 3: caveman or whatever.
- 16:39Speaker 2: That's fine. That's who I am.
- 16:41Speaker 3: That's why I want y'all to know I am. That's
- 16:43Speaker 3: what these players know me to be. It may be
- 16:45Speaker 3: at work, maybe it don't, but that's me.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But Liam seems to be a good coach. Yeah. Somebody
- 16:49Speaker 2: tried to pull up on him last year during the game,
- 16:51Speaker 2: didn't they? Oh, it was Robert Sala.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Robert Sala tried to pull up on him. I forget.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, what I would not want if
- 17:02Speaker 1: I was Bobani Jones, or certainly if my name was Liam,
- 17:05Speaker 1: is Salah pulling up on me.
- 17:08Speaker 3: That would give the news cycle a whole different thing
- 17:11Speaker 3: to talk about this time of year.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I don't need that.
- 17:13Speaker 1: No, no. Let me tell you this. And Cohen seems
- 17:15Speaker 1: to be a little bit of a troll. Like, how
- 17:17Speaker 1: funny would it have been if they had been trying
- 17:19Speaker 1: to separate them? They'd be like, yeah, that's right.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Free Palestine. No, no, no. He would never.
- 17:27Speaker 4: There's no chance that Liam would do anything like that.
- 17:31Speaker 4: I normally, like, I would never tell, like, when you're at, like,
- 17:36Speaker 4: certain types of parties or events or whatever, like, you
- 17:38Speaker 4: see famous people and they're, like, relaxing and whatever. You don't, like,
- 17:43Speaker 4: if something happens or they do something or whatever, like,
- 17:45Speaker 4: it's just kind of understood.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Like, you're not supposed to talk about that.
- 17:48Speaker 3: But I will tell a Liam Cohen story from a
- 17:50Speaker 3: Super Bowl party because I believe that he would not
- 17:52Speaker 3: mind this.
- 17:53Speaker 2: We had one of these Super Bowl parties.
- 17:55Speaker 3: In the VIP, it's all party happening, all this good
- 17:59Speaker 3: stuff going on, like everything you could imagine is happening
- 18:01Speaker 3: at this party.
- 18:02Speaker 2: It's very cool.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Liam Cohen had, I think it was, was it Solomon Thomas, maybe?
- 18:10Speaker 3: He had Solomon Thomas cornered. And I was curious, so
- 18:15Speaker 3: I walked over. They talking about duo blocking schemes.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Wow. Wow. I'm like... Come on, man. Solomon looked like
- 18:24Speaker 2: he wanted out of there.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I have a couple of observations, but one of them is,
- 18:28Speaker 1: as much as I would love to get on Liam
- 18:29Speaker 1: Cohen for being too much about football because he's talking
- 18:32Speaker 1: about blocking schemes at the Super Bowl party, you got
- 18:35Speaker 1: to be really into football to identify Solomon Thomas without
- 18:39Speaker 1: a Solomon Thomas jersey on. In fact, in 2026, it
- 18:42Speaker 1: would take more than a Solomon Thomas jersey because I
- 18:44Speaker 1: don't know what team he plays for. It would need
- 18:48Speaker 1: to be S-O-L dot Thomas on the back in order
- 18:51Speaker 1: for me to pull that off. Solomon Thomas, your friendly reminder,
- 18:55Speaker 1: the guy the 49ers drafted when they could have taken
- 18:57Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes. I used to say they could have taken
- 19:00Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson, but now that he nasty D,
- 19:03Speaker 1: that one doesn't.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Like, that one doesn't. Yeah, it doesn't sting as much. No, yeah, yeah, no, no, no, no, no.
- 19:07Speaker 1: They may have saved themselves a world of problems, but
- 19:12Speaker 1: that being said, they own her. bust out the crib
- 19:16Speaker 1: without no confirmation, trying to find it and pull it
- 19:19Speaker 1: into a.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Trailer park, trying to get it. Nasty J. Filthy J.
- 19:26Speaker 2: That's Filthy J. You know what Filthy J got, though?
- 19:29Speaker 2: He got that dog in him.
- 19:34Speaker 3: That's one thing we don't appreciate in sports is when
- 19:37Speaker 3: you got too much dog.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it was way too much dog. You got to
- 19:40Speaker 2: tame that dog, man. Put that thing in a crate sometime.
- 19:43Speaker 1: He called it for a false start.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Locked up in the neutral zone.
- 19:56Speaker 3: There's a sports analogy for everything, which I appreciate. It's
- 19:59Speaker 3: not as much of a stretch when we're talking about
- 20:01Speaker 3: sports teams and people affiliated with them, but my cousin
- 20:04Speaker 3: always calls me when there's something in the news or whatever,
- 20:07Speaker 3: he calls me and makes the sports analogy for it,
- 20:10Speaker 3: and Ball Start is perfect for that one.
- 20:12Speaker 2: He was definitely lined up in the neutral zone when
- 20:14Speaker 2: they pulled him over. Yes, he was. Dominique moved out
- 20:16Speaker 2: that Free Palestine very, very quickly. I was trying to, yeah. Hey,
- 20:21Speaker 2: if you want to have a conversation about it.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I will just say this right fast about Free Palestine.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Have you seen Dwight Howard talk about that time he
- 20:29Speaker 1: tweeted free Palestine? No.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I forget when.
- 20:32Speaker 1: This was, but out of the blue, Dwight Howard sent
- 20:37Speaker 1: a tweet that said free Palestine.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Now, put a pin in there. This was recent?
- 20:43Speaker 2: It was a few years ago. Okay.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Right. Put a pin in this. A few years ago,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I was very curious about rates on home equity lines
- 20:54Speaker 1: of credit.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I was just wondering what I could get, right?
- 20:58Speaker 1: And so I thought that I was filling out information
- 21:01Speaker 1: for a calculator and it was like, just like a
- 21:06Speaker 1: mortgage calculator. Like with these, what the rates are, it'll
- 21:08Speaker 1: just give you the information. I didn't realize that what
- 21:11Speaker 1: I was doing was putting in an application basically on
- 21:14Speaker 1: a website that it would then be distributed to everybody.
- 21:19Speaker 1: The second I clicked send, My phone rang and it
- 21:25Speaker 1: just rang over and over again with people trying to
- 21:29Speaker 1: talk to me about a home equity line of credit.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And that is basically what Dwight Howard describes, that he
- 21:34Speaker 1: basically hit send and immediately it was motherfucking swinging for
- 21:40Speaker 1: ropes into his house or whatever it is.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Like, hey, hey, hey. That's got to go down.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Like, you remember what it was like when Daryl Morey
- 21:49Speaker 1: said free Hong Kong? Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 2: That was just Hong Kong.
- 21:53Speaker 3: I wasn't sure if it was people swinging in, like,
- 21:57Speaker 3: trying to have him be more engaged in that movement. No, no, no.
- 22:01Speaker 2: It was people swinging in saying, hush up. Give me
- 22:03Speaker 2: the phone. Give me the fucking phone. What are you
- 22:05Speaker 2: talking about? They said, they just like, whoa, just everybody
- 22:10Speaker 2: freaked out in that moment. Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Now you, the, the, I mean, this is normal for
- 22:15Speaker 3: any of these sorts of cycles and it's, uh, A
- 22:18Speaker 3: trap that I've been able to, as I've gotten older,
- 22:20Speaker 3: been able to recognize and avoid is what I get
- 22:23Speaker 3: fed a lot now is not attempts to convince me
- 22:28Speaker 3: of a position, but to what about everything else, right?
- 22:33Speaker 3: So that's what I feel like is now happening. I'm
- 22:37Speaker 3: sure that I fall into plenty of social media traps,
- 22:40Speaker 3: but some of them I think I'm wise to, and
- 22:42Speaker 3: I think that they saw me swipe past some Enough
- 22:45Speaker 3: of these things that say, actually, you got this wrong.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And now what I've been getting later is like, well,
- 22:51Speaker 2: what about them Uyghurs, though? Yeah. And I find myself
- 22:56Speaker 2: looking at my phone like, yeah, true. However, I totally
- 23:02Speaker 2: forgot about the Uyghurs. Exactly.
- 23:05Speaker 1: 2022, Uyghurs was the hottest thing in these streets.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Everybody was talking about the Uyghurs.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Now, now.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I get it like but what about sudan though i'll
- 23:15Speaker 3: be getting them sudan them sudan.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Tiktoks too i was about to say it's been so
- 23:20Speaker 1: long i forgot how you spell uighur and that's why
- 23:22Speaker 1: i ain't got no interest in no tiktok ain't no
- 23:25Speaker 1: ain't no like i'm staying out of that one i
- 23:28Speaker 1: ain't got no reason to participate in that world uh
- 23:31Speaker 1: i'm gonna awkwardly change the subject though get back right
- 23:33Speaker 1: fast to a little football because i'm curious about this
- 23:35Speaker 1: for you i'm not gonna lie I ain't watched no
- 23:38Speaker 1: 49ers game yet. I didn't feel like watching that. I
- 23:41Speaker 1: had something to do it at night or the first game.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And then after that, I didn't feel like they was
- 23:45Speaker 1: really playing NFL teams. I think it was Arizona and Miami,
- 23:49Speaker 1: but it sounds like Brock Purdy. Hey man, shout out
- 23:52Speaker 1: to him. He has made this thing.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Work, right? Like, I don't, I don't know how good
- 23:56Speaker 2: he is, but I know he's not bad. Yeah. I'm, I,
- 24:01Speaker 2: I will send you some clips of some of the
- 24:04Speaker 2: plays that he is making and, You'll be impressed.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I don't know what got into him because like there are,
- 24:12Speaker 3: of course, operating the offense and all that stuff. It's
- 24:14Speaker 3: kind of what people say about Brock Purdy as a
- 24:17Speaker 3: knock on him. And of course, Mr. Irrelevant, like he
- 24:19Speaker 3: doesn't have these great physical tools. And the biggest credit
- 24:23Speaker 3: that anyone would give him is like. he got the
- 24:25Speaker 3: balls to believe that Kyle Shanahan was right and he'll
- 24:28Speaker 3: throw into a window that's not there because Kyle said
- 24:32Speaker 3: it's going to be there. And that's like a sideways
- 24:34Speaker 3: compliment to say that you like gutsy, but you ain't
- 24:37Speaker 3: really producing this.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Nah, man.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Like I, this is the, like the zero sum nature
- 24:44Speaker 3: of this stuff that we do sometimes that I think is,
- 24:48Speaker 3: it's probably true in some cases, but, there's only so
- 24:50Speaker 3: many points that we're allowed to give out, and it
- 24:52Speaker 3: feels like if you give them to the quarterback, you're
- 24:54Speaker 3: taking them from the coach or coordinator, and we don't
- 24:57Speaker 3: appreciate the idea that sometimes you put two things, one
- 25:00Speaker 3: and one could equal four in certain cases, and I
- 25:03Speaker 3: feel like Brock Purdy did fit into that categorization of
- 25:08Speaker 3: he was kind of being carried by the players around
- 25:10Speaker 3: him in the offense and not making mistakes at one point.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I don't think that's true anymore.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I think the thing to remember about Brock Purdy is
- 25:17Speaker 1: And I think watching Case Keenum on Monday should be
- 25:20Speaker 1: a bit of an illustration of the point I'm making.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Regardless of what you think about Case Keenum, Case Keenum
- 25:25Speaker 1: put up numbers in college. And Case Keenum sees himself
- 25:29Speaker 1: as the guy who put up numbers in college and, oh,
- 25:33Speaker 1: by the way, quarterbacked a team to an NFC championship game.
- 25:36Speaker 1: What you think about him is not the same in
- 25:39Speaker 1: all likelihood. So when you pull Case Keenum out to
- 25:41Speaker 1: go start that game on Monday night, Case Keenum is like,
- 25:44Speaker 1: all right, time to give these people what they came for, right?
- 25:47Speaker 2: And he's doing that thing.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Brock Purdy is like a conference player of the year
- 25:51Speaker 1: caliber dude when he was in school. Yeah, he's like,
- 25:54Speaker 1: why shouldn't I be out here playing? Like, I was
- 25:56Speaker 1: out here. I saw these other cats, you know? Like,
- 25:59Speaker 1: I got this.
- 26:00Speaker 3: You get the Case Keenum thing also where he's old
- 26:04Speaker 3: enough to know to tell us that bullshit. Because if
- 26:09Speaker 3: you see at the beginning of the game, he was like,
- 26:11Speaker 3: I just want to see how it goes. I want
- 26:13Speaker 3: my kids really wanted to see me play, and I'm
- 26:16Speaker 3: going to go out there and play ball, and no
- 26:17Speaker 3: matter what, chips fall where they may.
- 26:20Speaker 2: I'm going to be happy. That's the general vibe that
- 26:22Speaker 2: he told to our Laura Rutledge.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Did you see that post-game?
- 26:27Speaker 3: You knew exactly where I was going. Because that's what
- 26:30Speaker 3: he was thinking. He was like, I'm going to say
- 26:31Speaker 3: this because this is the right thing to say. But
- 26:33Speaker 3: what I was actually thinking was, this was taken from me.
- 26:36Speaker 3: I'm a Hall of Famer if they would have given
- 26:38Speaker 3: me the chance. And I just showed y'all motherfuckers.
- 26:40Speaker 1: The look on his face when he said, I ain't
- 26:43Speaker 1: no cowboy, but this ain't my first goddamn rodeo. And
- 26:47Speaker 1: it all built to that moment. Like, you saw he
- 26:49Speaker 1: was doing all the right things and just saying the stuff.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And all that resentment just came out of him all
- 26:57Speaker 1: at once right there.
- 27:00Speaker 2: He said he.
- 27:01Speaker 3: This was taken from me. That's the part that stood
- 27:04Speaker 3: out in the build-up. He said, this was taken from me. Like,
- 27:08Speaker 3: he thought he was the guy in Minnesota.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And they took it from him. Why not?
- 27:13Speaker 1: No, that's what I'm saying. That's what's so wild about
- 27:15Speaker 1: all these circles. And who did they replace him with?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins. Exactly. And they paid all the... Wow, he's like, no!
- 27:23Speaker 1: The man right here. The man right here.
- 27:28Speaker 2: He threw something to the Eagles. They didn't catch him, though.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But he still balled out a great game.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Yeah, he looked. Coming up next, we talk a little
- 27:34Speaker 1: more football and perhaps the most surprising NFL development of
- 27:39Speaker 1: the year. Football is finally back, and PrizePix is bringing

- 29:05Speaker 1: Run your game. All right, we are back on here
- 29:07Speaker 1: with Dominique Foxworth, and I'll be honest with you. I
- 29:10Speaker 1: talked a lot of football with Deontay the other day.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I looked at the rest of these games. I don't
- 29:14Speaker 1: really want to talk about the Lions right now because
- 29:16Speaker 1: it doesn't make me feel very good. So we'll get
- 29:19Speaker 1: to some football maybe, but it's other stuff that's going on.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And okay. We'll start here. Dominique said, and I need
- 29:28Speaker 1: you guys to understand something, especially for those of y'all
- 29:30Speaker 1: who go back with me, right? Because I've talked about
- 29:32Speaker 1: this for a while. The approach that I'm taking with
- 29:34Speaker 1: the work I do and everything else is I do
- 29:37Speaker 1: this for the people that's been with me for the longest, right?
- 29:39Speaker 1: I've been doing this for 26 years. I do this
- 29:41Speaker 1: primarily for the people that's been with me for 26,
- 29:43Speaker 1: then for the 25. Like, it is important to me.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I'm at that very satisfied place in what I do, right?
- 29:49Speaker 1: And so that means that a lot of y'all who
- 29:51Speaker 1: are here have been hearing me say this thing about.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Babyface for a very long time.
- 29:55Speaker 1: And I don't know if everybody was always this bad,
- 29:58Speaker 1: but I didn't know people had the capacity to get
- 30:00Speaker 1: this bad.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I was referred to as both.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Anti-black and anti-real N-word. Wow. Yo, I'm telling you, man,
- 30:09Speaker 1: I even got people I know. I got a friend
- 30:12Speaker 1: of mine who jumped on Instagram to cop a plea
- 30:16Speaker 1: for me and say, no, he's my friend. He's just
- 30:19Speaker 1: doing it for clicks. And I want to hit her
- 30:21Speaker 1: up and be like, yo, have you lost your mind?
- 30:24Speaker 2: What are you doing?
- 30:25Speaker 1: But anyway, that's it's been an interesting week.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I am curious. It's been so bizarre.
- 30:32Speaker 1: But I am curious, Dominique, you said you had a
- 30:33Speaker 1: baby face thought. And I wonder what it is.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I've been catching, like, of course, my feed
- 30:39Speaker 3: being that you and I are close and I'm a
- 30:42Speaker 3: black man of a certain age and my feed has
- 30:44Speaker 3: been filled up with a lot of the baby face reactions.
- 30:47Speaker 2: And my first thought was like, why is everybody so
- 30:52Speaker 2: fired up?
- 30:52Speaker 3: And then I kind of realized two things is we
- 30:57Speaker 3: all want to be right and we all want to
- 30:59Speaker 3: be celebrated. And when they think, when you think you
- 31:02Speaker 3: got an easy win, then people pile on. But the
- 31:06Speaker 3: thing that really resonated with me, the more I thought
- 31:08Speaker 3: about it, because no one has made an argument opposite you.
- 31:13Speaker 3: You've made an argument that is supported by your facts
- 31:17Speaker 3: or your opinions and some level of justification.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Everyone else's argument is.
- 31:26Speaker 3: but baby face, like it's essentially some, some version of,
- 31:30Speaker 3: but he talking about baby face and like, okay, I
- 31:34Speaker 3: get what you're saying there is like, this is too
- 31:35Speaker 3: absurd to even engage with. However, I think the reason
- 31:39Speaker 3: why people are so offended and I have, we all
- 31:42Speaker 3: have this experience where it's like, what songs in particular
- 31:47Speaker 3: in sports and certain art in a time means to you,
- 31:51Speaker 3: it becomes a part of you. And so you being
- 31:53Speaker 3: critical of Babyface is also you being critical of their childhood.
- 31:58Speaker 2: And I think sometimes, or at least who.
- 32:00Speaker 3: They think themselves to be, because I think some of
- 32:02Speaker 3: the things that the cases you're making are somewhat, even
- 32:05Speaker 3: though it's subjective, it's somewhat undeniable about like the creativity.
- 32:10Speaker 2: And the complexity of the songs.
- 32:12Speaker 3: But I think the same thing could be true for like,
- 32:15Speaker 3: I loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Loved them. But I'm not going.
- 32:20Speaker 3: If you tell me Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ain't better
- 32:24Speaker 3: than The Wire, I'm going to be like.
- 32:26Speaker 2: You're right. But Donatello meant so much to me when
- 32:30Speaker 2: I was young. That's my thing. Here's my thing. We
- 32:33Speaker 2: could disagree.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I think that people are under this impression that I
- 32:36Speaker 1: have no room for people to disagree, which I believe
- 32:39Speaker 1: to be untrue. And I feel like my shows with
- 32:42Speaker 1: you are a great example of this. We do a
- 32:43Speaker 1: great job of disagreeing with each other. The irony of
- 32:46Speaker 1: it is nobody trying to let your boy have his
- 32:48Speaker 1: own opinion. Nobody in the way.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Okay. Okay. If we just it's because it's you, too.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I think that's part of it's kind of we talk
- 32:57Speaker 1: about the call Hannah Jones people.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Some people be waiting on a chance.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Right. And they feel that this is their opportunity. I
- 33:02Speaker 1: want to say this one thing, though, about the idea
- 33:05Speaker 1: of simple songwriting. I need to clarify. Bob Marley writes
- 33:10Speaker 1: simple songs. I love Bob Marley songwriting. Right. I play
- 33:16Speaker 1: your favorite song. We can rock it all night long.
- 33:20Speaker 1: There's a whole scene set up right there in those
- 33:23Speaker 1: two sentences, right? Like I'm not expecting people to be
- 33:26Speaker 1: out here. Not everybody's got to be out here kicking
- 33:28Speaker 1: wicked complex mathematics. In fact, I don't really like that
- 33:31Speaker 1: per se. I don't mean that I feel like something
- 33:34Speaker 1: is simple just to say that it's not complex.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I mean simple like ton. You know what I mean?
- 33:41Speaker 1: And I know that people don't necessarily like that when
- 33:43Speaker 1: they hear that. But no, most great songwriters are simple
- 33:47Speaker 1: and get right to the point. I just don't like
- 33:50Speaker 1: this dude. I don't like his, I mean, and I
- 33:52Speaker 1: don't mean not him. I don't know that cat, you know, right?
- 33:56Speaker 1: It ain't even about my general aversion to the level
- 33:58Speaker 1: of something that he's offered a measure of endorsement for.
- 34:01Speaker 1: I'm not even talking about that. I just, cats is
- 34:04Speaker 1: ready to excommunicate me.
- 34:07Speaker 2: It's all I've done. Not even all I've done. I've
- 34:10Speaker 2: done everything I did for y'all. No, not that.
- 34:12Speaker 1: But I thought I had earned a little trust out
- 34:14Speaker 1: here in these streets. I thought I had some equity
- 34:17Speaker 1: out here. Nobody got no equity, dog.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Nobody. You got some.
- 34:21Speaker 3: I think that's the thing is there's so many people
- 34:24Speaker 3: in the world. You have plenty of equity with plenty
- 34:27Speaker 3: of people. The people who are jumping up, you don't
- 34:29Speaker 3: got no equity with them. That's a whole different audience.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I guarantee you that people who you have equity with
- 34:34Speaker 3: are not like, this is crazy.
- 34:36Speaker 2: I hate this man. He's stupid.
- 34:37Speaker 3: He'll know nothing about music. And I think I fell
- 34:40Speaker 3: into this trap. Like if I read anything that I
- 34:42Speaker 3: wrote a long time ago, it's like, mistaken complexity for
- 34:47Speaker 3: good writing. And like the best writing is about getting
- 34:50Speaker 3: a point across and like the simplest way, the most
- 34:53Speaker 3: efficient way possible and like evoking some sort of emotion
- 34:56Speaker 3: in people. And if, if baby face did that for
- 34:59Speaker 3: you when you was in the fifth grade and he
- 35:01Speaker 3: don't do that for you now, not you, but Marty,
- 35:03Speaker 3: but just anybody that's fine.
- 35:05Speaker 2: And if, if that's what you want to say, that's okay.
- 35:07Speaker 2: And if he moves you, that's fine. But I don't know.
- 35:09Speaker 3: It is to me, it feels a lot like sports
- 35:11Speaker 3: and that's why it does feel perfect where it's like,
- 35:14Speaker 3: We can hate on Jalen Hurts as Eagles fans.
- 35:17Speaker 2: They'd be killing him. But let's you say something bad
- 35:19Speaker 2: about him.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Well, there's also, if one wishes to be, if I
- 35:23Speaker 1: were to be a more self-aggrandizing fellow than I am,
- 35:27Speaker 1: one could argue that people, when they want you to
- 35:31Speaker 1: like them and want you to like what they like,
- 35:33Speaker 1: they become even more disappointed when you don't like what
- 35:36Speaker 1: they like. So this is perhaps in the eyes of
- 35:38Speaker 1: some of these people, actually a grand show of respect
- 35:41Speaker 1: in their simple disappointment. that I am not here to
- 35:44Speaker 1: affirm whatever their opinion may be. Now, if I were
- 35:49Speaker 1: that type of person, I would offer that rather than
- 35:53Speaker 1: simply proposing it as a theory of sorts.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I would say that like we all put ourselves in
- 35:59Speaker 3: different groups.
- 36:01Speaker 2: And I imagine.
- 36:03Speaker 3: That a lot, a lot of the people who are
- 36:05Speaker 3: putting out this, like you're anti-black or.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Well, that's just people who don't know how to talk.
- 36:09Speaker 1: That's the internet breaking people's brains.
- 36:11Speaker 3: But I think that that's not a real comment. I
- 36:14Speaker 3: think the, but the sentiment is real. And I think
- 36:17Speaker 3: that those people are probably people who see. you and
- 36:21Speaker 3: them as of the same ilk. It's like, I'm a middle-aged, smart, left-leaning,
- 36:30Speaker 3: sophisticated person who's also cool, and Beaumont represents that, and
- 36:35Speaker 3: then you said something that they don't agree with?
- 36:38Speaker 2: Who's like, I thought you.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Was my boy. Also, potentially, eight years after I said
- 36:42Speaker 1: something about their mothers and ways that we could have
- 36:46Speaker 1: a great time. You know, like, They be talking about
- 36:49Speaker 1: them chickens, boy. They come home to roost, man. You know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: they come home to roost. I want to throw this
- 36:57Speaker 1: out here, though. Mike Tomlin did something fascinating, okay?
- 37:02Speaker 2: And I'm trying to think.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Before we move to Mike Tomlin, you should, like, have
- 37:06Speaker 3: an episode at some point where you, like, do have
- 37:08Speaker 3: this conversation with someone who has a smarter opinion on
- 37:12Speaker 3: music than I do.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Like, I'm not as adept in R & B.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I probably should, right? But we got to let this
- 37:18Speaker 1: go after this week, man.
- 37:19Speaker 2: It'll do numbers, though.
- 37:22Speaker 1: So here's the thing. It'll do numbers for Kev. It'll
- 37:26Speaker 1: do numbers for all these other angry people.
- 37:28Speaker 2: That's why I said bring it on here. But it
- 37:31Speaker 2: hasn't really done numbers for us. That is the worst
- 37:34Speaker 2: part about this.
- 37:36Speaker 1: It's what I always say about this goddamn social media
- 37:39Speaker 1: and all this exploitation. Everybody else get the numbers off
- 37:42Speaker 1: being mad at me. When I'm like, hey, don't you
- 37:44Speaker 1: want to hear me talk about it?
- 37:46Speaker 2: Fuck you. You know what happens?
- 37:47Speaker 1: Cam takes another little piece of it and then they
- 37:50Speaker 1: just go run over there and.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Talk. My bad.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Nah, nah, nah. It's been a weird week.
- 38:01Speaker 2: It's been a weird week, but also weird. Mike Tomlin. Yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I'll be honest with you. It's funny. We talked about
- 38:06Speaker 2: this off Mike.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Hey, Mike.
- 38:10Speaker 2: I have been surprised at how good he's been.
- 38:12Speaker 1: On television because i felt like he spent so much
- 38:15Speaker 1: effort not telling us things that i had no way
- 38:17Speaker 1: to know if he would actually have anything to say
- 38:19Speaker 1: to us number one and number two he was working
- 38:22Speaker 1: for the most boring of the broadcast in nbc that's
- 38:26Speaker 1: just the brand i like they got like maria's incredible
- 38:28Speaker 1: on there but i like she's i feel like she's
- 38:30Speaker 1: too good for that she got all that energy and
- 38:32Speaker 1: everybody else is over there like hey hey hey somebody's
- 38:34Speaker 1: trying to take a nap over there You.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Know, like that's the vibe.
- 38:37Speaker 1: But Tomlin's over there with things to say. The Browns
- 38:41Speaker 1: is the Browns. He's being critical of coaching decisions, things
- 38:44Speaker 1: you don't see. And then Mike Tomlin shared with the world.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And this don't mean a whole lot to me. However, apparently,
- 38:56Speaker 1: and I learned this because Spencer called me to tell me,
- 38:58Speaker 1: he's a really big Minecraft fan.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:02Speaker 1: And for those of you who don't know what Minecraft is,
- 39:04Speaker 1: it appears to be kind of similar to like SimCity, right?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Where you get onto a computer and you build your
- 39:10Speaker 1: city and you plan it out and you put buildings
- 39:13Speaker 1: and stuff. And at least from what I could tell
- 39:15Speaker 1: from what Mike Tomlin was talking about, that's what it was.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Because he got a city that.
- 39:19Speaker 1: He's been building since 2015, including a Trump Tower that
- 39:23Speaker 1: he says, quote, I didn't think he would win when
- 39:25Speaker 1: I built it because he built it in 2015. And
- 39:28Speaker 1: he was running through the... insides of the buildings and
- 39:31Speaker 1: the decor and the decisions that he made.
- 39:34Speaker 2: His son, did you see this?
- 39:35Speaker 1: His son got on Twitter and was like, I would
- 39:37Speaker 1: come home some days and my PlayStation would be gone
- 39:41Speaker 1: and I wasn't even on punishment. Because Mike Tomlin was
- 39:43Speaker 1: over there on the PlayStation making up his city. Spencer
- 39:47Speaker 1: was explaining to me that there are all these different
- 39:48Speaker 1: ways you could do it. You could do it on
- 39:50Speaker 1: a desktop, far easier ways.
- 39:52Speaker 3: No.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin does it on the PS5, and that man
- 39:55Speaker 1: sounded so, like, satisfied and happy. Like, when you see
- 39:59Speaker 1: those videos of people with their houses in Architectural Digest,
- 40:02Speaker 1: and they just love to show off what it is
- 40:04Speaker 1: they've done, that was Mike Tomlin talking about playing this
- 40:09Speaker 1: simulated whatever it is.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 2: So I am— Hold on.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Hold on. This is— that video of him on YouTube talking
- 40:16Speaker 1: about this got 700,000 views.
- 40:21Speaker 3: That the intersection of people that will be interested in
- 40:24Speaker 3: that is so huge. Like people online is like Steelers,
- 40:28Speaker 3: football fans, and also like all the Minecraft community, which
- 40:33Speaker 3: has to be really huge. And my understanding is it's
- 40:37Speaker 3: slightly different than SimCity. It's like SimCity is like you're
- 40:41Speaker 3: pretending to be a mayor and there are actual goals
- 40:45Speaker 3: and responsibilities to doing it. And this- It's kind of,
- 40:50Speaker 3: you do whatever you want. It's more like, like building
- 40:53Speaker 3: art to me.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Or making like sculpting in a way where you are
- 40:57Speaker 3: dropped into like a landscape with a dude and a hatchet.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Got you.
- 41:01Speaker 2: And you got to gather shit. Oh, okay. So you're
- 41:04Speaker 2: starting from much more of a zero.
- 41:06Speaker 3: I believe so. My kids, they haven't played Minecraft. They're
- 41:10Speaker 3: older now and forever. But apparently they're not too old.
- 41:13Speaker 2: They're definitely not too old. But maybe you got to
- 41:15Speaker 2: come back around to it.
- 41:16Speaker 3: It's like puzzles. You do puzzles when you're a kid.
- 41:19Speaker 3: You do puzzles when you're old. Ain't much puzzling in
- 41:21Speaker 3: between when you got other things to do. But yeah,
- 41:24Speaker 3: that makes it even more impressive if all of that
- 41:26Speaker 3: is true. But yeah, it seems like it could be
- 41:29Speaker 3: incredibly cathartic for somebody like that who....
- 41:34Speaker 2: Has this drive to like do something.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 41:38Speaker 2: But also like the work is high pressure. Like, look,
- 41:41Speaker 2: I have built this today. Something was done.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Like as, as simple as it sounds, I recognize how
- 41:47Speaker 3: good that feels and sitting at a computer reading and
- 41:50Speaker 3: watching tape and all that. Like sometimes I feel like
- 41:52Speaker 3: I ain't done shit today, but if I, if I
- 41:56Speaker 3: make something, cause you got some, you got some evidence,
- 41:57Speaker 3: you got some receipts. Now my question for him is,
- 42:00Speaker 3: Has he ever sounded that happy and satisfied watching something
- 42:03Speaker 3: that happened in football as he is there? Like, I
- 42:05Speaker 3: think that with football, there's no way to look at
- 42:08Speaker 3: a glass half full. Like the watching film is always
- 42:11Speaker 3: in looking for the mistake or looking at the hole.
- 42:13Speaker 3: All he sees in Minecraft is what he has accomplished.
- 42:17Speaker 3: And also love Mike Tomlin.
- 42:18Speaker 1: We'd always had him as like the coolest of the coaches.
- 42:21Speaker 1: And he came out and wanted to be like, Hey guys,
- 42:25Speaker 1: I'm not saying that I've looked into this officially, but.
- 42:30Speaker 2: I might have a touch of that tism. There's a dollop,
- 42:36Speaker 2: just a dollop of it.
- 42:37Speaker 1: And I'll tell you this, my friends who have that
- 42:39Speaker 1: touch of tism are so excited that Mike Toblin is
- 42:43Speaker 1: over there doing their stuff.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and I think.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Like anything in the world, there are huge benefits to
- 42:54Speaker 3: any type of character trait that you could have if
- 42:56Speaker 3: you can find it and channel it in the right way.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Like, thank God Michael Jordan was 6'6 and athletic as hell. Yes, yes, yes.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Because, you know, he didn't develop that personality as a
- 43:06Speaker 3: result of playing basketball. He's a basketball-playing psychopath, which he
- 43:12Speaker 3: was not. He was always going to be a psychopath.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah. How about this? We need to be glad he
- 43:16Speaker 1: figured out he could play basketball before he figured out
- 43:18Speaker 1: that he could fight. Because otherwise, he'd be the dude
- 43:22Speaker 1: challenging the biggest dude at the bar every time he
- 43:25Speaker 1: pulls up.
- 43:26Speaker 2: That's a lot nicer than I thought it might have
- 43:28Speaker 2: ended up. There we go. You're just fighting that bar.
- 43:30Speaker 2: We good. Oh, yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Well, yeah. There's that. There's also....
- 43:37Speaker 2: There's also that element. Tomlin ain't coming back to no coaching.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Like, the only time we're going to hear about him
- 43:43Speaker 1: coming back to coaching is going to be in, coincidentally,
- 43:45Speaker 1: he's in the final year of his contract with NBC.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Yep. You're right. He got to use that negotiation tactic.
- 43:52Speaker 3: He's going to go take some Rooney Rule interviews just.
- 43:56Speaker 2: To get that money up on NBC. Yo, I ain't
- 43:57Speaker 2: going to lie, though.
- 43:59Speaker 1: If Mike Tomlin started taking the Rooney Rule interviews, I'd
- 44:04Speaker 1: be done with him.
- 44:06Speaker 2: I would be completely done with him. He should make
- 44:10Speaker 2: a business out of it.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Just every offseason, he should have all of them come
- 44:14Speaker 3: to his house and like, look, put.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Some money on the table. I got five minutes for
- 44:19Speaker 2: all of you. Like do a speed date situation. In fact,
- 44:22Speaker 2: the best part is we will find a way.
- 44:24Speaker 1: This is how they would give the game away because
- 44:26Speaker 1: they would be like, do you remember that time that
- 44:28Speaker 1: Jerry Jones asked Dennis Green to do a video interview
- 44:32Speaker 1: or a telephone interview as their Rudy Rule interview?
- 44:36Speaker 2: I don't remember that.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how they would give the game away on
- 44:40Speaker 1: this one. They'd be like, hey, Mike, how about we
- 44:42Speaker 1: just get you to zoom in?
- 44:43Speaker 2: How's that? You want me to do what? Mike wouldn't
- 44:46Speaker 2: do that. I would hope that Mike would not do that.
- 44:49Speaker 1: But after I saw Mike play at Minecraft, I feel
- 44:51Speaker 1: like anything is on the board. I have no idea.
- 44:54Speaker 1: I do think, though, him saying that thing about Trump,
- 44:57Speaker 1: I didn't think he would win.
- 44:58Speaker 2: That was a good of a.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Good to know. Good to know. You can't assume with
- 45:04Speaker 1: football players.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Oh, no, no, you're right.
- 45:10Speaker 3: We talked about this last time. We are a much
- 45:16Speaker 3: more conservative rule-following group of people, which I guess isn't
- 45:21Speaker 3: consistent with that particular president, but it is certainly more conservative.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Well, it's a little bit.
- 45:28Speaker 1: More the issue comes into following the lead of the
- 45:32Speaker 1: people at the front of your rooms.
- 45:35Speaker 2: There's a lot of respect for people at the front
- 45:37Speaker 2: of the room.
- 45:37Speaker 1: And them cats is voting for Trump. Speaking of which,
- 45:42Speaker 1: I just saw NBA champion Knicks still undecided if they
- 45:46Speaker 1: will visit the White House. And I know that Dolan
- 45:49Speaker 1: said they was going to go. These cats got– what
- 45:54Speaker 1: y'all going to do?
- 45:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't get the sense that– I mean, I
- 46:00Speaker 3: don't know them personally, but it don't feel like there's
- 46:03Speaker 3: a bunch of guys on that team that are looking
- 46:08Speaker 3: to create any waves. So I agree with the sense
- 46:11Speaker 3: that they'll do whatever they think will be least wavy.
- 46:15Speaker 2: The problem is it might be wavy either way. Which waves?
- 46:17Speaker 1: Like the waves with the dude upstairs? The waves with
- 46:21Speaker 1: the people in the street? Like, what's it going to be?
- 46:25Speaker 2: Here's a question. I know a game I would run
- 46:28Speaker 2: if I was Trump.
- 46:30Speaker 1: I would try to schedule my next powwow with Zoran.
- 46:36Speaker 1: around that and try to like run it all together
- 46:40Speaker 1: a big old New York celebration.
- 46:43Speaker 3: But that's assuming that you think that he don't want
- 46:46Speaker 3: the drama like I think that he prefers the drama.
- 46:48Speaker 1: No no I think that Trump definitely wants the team
- 46:52Speaker 1: to be there and Zoran is their buddy I mean
- 46:57Speaker 1: I'm not saying Zoran would go along with it but
- 46:59Speaker 1: I would be trying to triangulate this if I was
- 47:02Speaker 1: Trump but don't forget Dolan don't like Zoran Yeah, of course.
- 47:06Speaker 2: So if the team, right?
- 47:08Speaker 1: So if the team needs Zoran to be there and
- 47:10Speaker 1: then Dolan don't want to holler at Zoran. Because remember,
- 47:13Speaker 1: didn't Dolan say something crazy to Zoran at the parade?
- 47:17Speaker 3: Oh, he like, yeah, he like came on after him
- 47:19Speaker 3: and was shooting subs, right?
- 47:22Speaker 2: Subliminal shots. Yeah.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, I'm going to say this last thing
- 47:26Speaker 1: before we go just because I found it interesting and
- 47:27Speaker 1: I feel like the people who listen to this show
- 47:29Speaker 1: will find this interesting. Have you seen these articles that
- 47:31Speaker 1: people have had about how the Republicans had planned to
- 47:34Speaker 1: make Zoran the boogeyman? Like, Obama and Biden had been
- 47:37Speaker 1: these boogeymen this whole time, and the plan was to
- 47:40Speaker 1: make Zoran the boogeyman. And the problem is, while many
- 47:42Speaker 1: people fervently disagree with him, they all like him, like,
- 47:46Speaker 1: including Trump.
- 47:48Speaker 2: So, like, it doesn't work. Like, you don't want to
- 47:51Speaker 2: be like Bob Donnie. They're like, ah, you know, he's
- 47:53Speaker 2: kind of cute.
- 47:55Speaker 3: That's a reminder that all this highfalutin talk we do.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Is you cool or not? I fuck with you or nah.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Like that's like ultimately, which like, that's what the party
- 48:09Speaker 3: system is.
- 48:10Speaker 2: It's like putting a stamp of approval on somebody like, yeah,
- 48:13Speaker 2: he won us. You can fuck with him.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Yep.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Counterpoint Ted Cruz. Yeah.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Keeps all winning somehow.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Amazingly.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Oh, one last thing. Now that I think about it,
- 48:23Speaker 1: cause I have you here. You were in the studio
- 48:27Speaker 1: when Nick Saban pulled up on, get up. And continued
- 48:31Speaker 1: his pro Protect College Sports Act rap. And he got
- 48:34Speaker 1: up there. These coaches are all in this one. The
- 48:37Speaker 1: coaches are worth more than players. Yet, they feel the
- 48:41Speaker 1: need to cap the salary for players. But not, you know,
- 48:44Speaker 1: if that's the case, then the market, as Mina has
- 48:46Speaker 1: said many times, if that's the case, let the market
- 48:48Speaker 1: dictate it.
- 48:49Speaker 2: But they didn't let you.
- 48:51Speaker 1: On there with them, Dominique.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Oh, you think I ain't asked? I didn't know he
- 48:55Speaker 2: was going to be on there. I asked and....
- 48:59Speaker 3: And we talked about what we could do in the
- 49:01Speaker 3: future about, like, on this specific topic. But at the moment, and, like,
- 49:07Speaker 3: of course, respectful shake his hand and whatever. I disagree
- 49:10Speaker 3: with it. But, like, I hadn't really weighed in. But
- 49:13Speaker 3: I had to go and do something on my show
- 49:15Speaker 3: because I just felt so gross. And, like, I wasn't
- 49:18Speaker 3: on set. If I'm on set, I have to ask
- 49:19Speaker 3: the question. like they just did they broke away from
- 49:21Speaker 3: our normal get up structure to do like a one
- 49:24Speaker 3: on one interview with him about his documentary and then
- 49:28Speaker 3: he pumped that.
- 49:31Speaker 2: That bill and it just was like.
- 49:34Speaker 3: I wish and of course I talked to Green and
- 49:36Speaker 3: he said he hadn't read much about it and I
- 49:38Speaker 3: was like I wish somebody would have gave him a
- 49:40Speaker 3: little bit of pushback. So, and I went home wondering like,
- 49:44Speaker 3: what would I have done if I had time to prepare?
- 49:47Speaker 3: And I boiled it down to one simple question that
- 49:50Speaker 3: I did off the top of my podcast is like,
- 49:53Speaker 3: when people start talking about this and talking about the
- 49:55Speaker 3: chaos in college sports or women's sports.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Or transfer rules or salary.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Caps, and they say that the Protect College Sports Act
- 50:05Speaker 3: is a solution, you need to ask them this one question,
- 50:10Speaker 3: is who gets the power to make the rules, to
- 50:16Speaker 3: change the rules, and enforce the rules?
- 50:19Speaker 2: And the answer is going to be the team, the schools,
- 50:24Speaker 2: the administrators.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Like, it's essentially reverting back to the way the system
- 50:29Speaker 3: was in the NCAA. And I think they wisely put
- 50:32Speaker 3: some reasonable, like, rules in there to say this is
- 50:36Speaker 3: what we're going to do because you can look at
- 50:37Speaker 3: it and say that's reasonable, but that ain't nothing but
- 50:41Speaker 3: a bait and switch. It's like we, or not even
- 50:44Speaker 3: a bait and switch, it's like we're going to give
- 50:45Speaker 3: you this small gift if you sign this sheet. And
- 50:51Speaker 3: you're like, oh, that's a nice gift. You sign that
- 50:53Speaker 3: sheet and then you look up and you're like, oh,
- 50:55Speaker 3: I'm stuck again. They want antitrust protection.
- 50:58Speaker 1: It's like I just wanted a t-shirt and now I
- 51:00Speaker 1: got a credit card with a 30% interest rate.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's unfortunate because I've seen a bunch of
- 51:07Speaker 3: people who I know are on the, like, this is
- 51:13Speaker 3: a business and the players should have some rights. I've
- 51:16Speaker 3: seen people online say things like, oh, no, but, like,
- 51:21Speaker 3: the salary cap will be so high and this will
- 51:23Speaker 3: be so good. Like, it's the same thing that baseball
- 51:25Speaker 3: is trying to do now in order to get.
- 51:28Speaker 2: A salary cap.
- 51:29Speaker 1: It's like, no.
- 51:31Speaker 4: No.
- 51:31Speaker 3: We'll make sure that you make more this year than
- 51:33Speaker 3: you did last year, you know, under the cap. But
- 51:36Speaker 3: they're playing a long game. They're looking to get the
- 51:38Speaker 3: current players to sell out the future players. That's the
- 51:41Speaker 3: same thing they're doing in college, looking to get or
- 51:44Speaker 3: they're doing it different. They're like, nah, we ain't even
- 51:46Speaker 3: going to talk to you. We can go over your head.
- 51:48Speaker 3: We don't get the government to come in and say
- 51:50Speaker 3: that we ain't got to follow no rules. We can
- 51:52Speaker 3: be the only business that ain't got to follow no rules.
- 51:55Speaker 3: And like, of course, pro sports teams have antitrust exemptions.
- 51:57Speaker 3: I know you know that. But the reason why they
- 51:59Speaker 3: have those antitrust exemptions is because they are required to
- 52:03Speaker 3: collectively bargain the rules that the players live under.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Yep. It is my thing I say to ESPN. I,
- 52:11Speaker 1: Beaumont Jones, not Dominique Fosworth. is you don't have to
- 52:14Speaker 1: talk to Nick Saban about that because Nick Saban is
- 52:16Speaker 1: not an expert on that bill. He is simply a
- 52:19Speaker 1: proponent for it. By the time that bill had gotten passed,
- 52:22Speaker 1: they put so much stuff in it, I don't know
- 52:23Speaker 1: if Saban even knows all the things that are actually
- 52:26Speaker 1: in it. For whatever reason, he has chosen that this
- 52:28Speaker 1: is his cause and he is a proponent, but he
- 52:29Speaker 1: is not somebody that is there to offer information. He
- 52:32Speaker 1: is only there to campaign for it. And so to me,
- 52:37Speaker 1: your audience, you don't owe that to your audience. I
- 52:39Speaker 1: do think you owe your audience a measure of information
- 52:42Speaker 1: on it, But it gets to something to me when people,
- 52:45Speaker 1: when Burke Magnus has said that ESPN is going to
- 52:47Speaker 1: cover college football more and I get it. And the
- 52:50Speaker 1: idea is that the ratings are so high on the games,
- 52:52Speaker 1: then it should be talked about more on the shows.
- 52:55Speaker 1: But the reason that those shows typically don't talk more
- 52:58Speaker 1: college football is it's so much information, so much information
- 53:02Speaker 1: to consume. And then it becomes somewhat difficult to decide
- 53:04Speaker 1: what information until you get deeper into the season and
- 53:07Speaker 1: what the big games are become clearer. Your audience doesn't
- 53:10Speaker 1: operate from the same baseline level of information. on things, right?
- 53:14Speaker 1: So like Ohio State and Indiana is going to come.
- 53:16Speaker 1: You can't just talk about Indiana or Ohio State when
- 53:19Speaker 1: it comes around. Like, well, everybody knows who the quarterback is.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Everybody knows who the da-da-da. No, because there's so much
- 53:24Speaker 1: that goes on. And that's what gets me about the
- 53:26Speaker 1: issue in talking about this bill is it has so
- 53:28Speaker 1: much information and there's so many things that surround it
- 53:32Speaker 1: that when it gets thrown out there, it's hard to
- 53:35Speaker 1: talk about responsibly before a national audience just because we're
- 53:40Speaker 1: not operating from a baseline.
- 53:42Speaker 2: That everybody understands.
- 53:44Speaker 1: And so when you put Saban out there, you're treating
- 53:48Speaker 1: it like everybody understands what's going on, and he's just there, well,
- 53:51Speaker 1: you know what it is, and now we're operating for
- 53:52Speaker 1: shared information. No, the information becomes the campaigning from Nick
- 53:57Speaker 1: Saban or the campaigning for Ted Cruz, because I tell
- 54:01Speaker 1: you who I bet they could call. I bet you
- 54:03Speaker 1: get Jay Billis in there, and I bet it'll sound
- 54:05Speaker 1: a little bit different. And I haven't seen anybody pipe
- 54:09Speaker 1: Jay in from his house yet. Just say it. If
- 54:12Speaker 1: that's what we're doing, that's what we can do. But
- 54:15Speaker 1: I also, to be fair, understand how television producers work.
- 54:19Speaker 1: And they're like, hey, that's the thing that's going on
- 54:20Speaker 1: right now. Why don't you throw this out here? We'll
- 54:22Speaker 1: be able to do that. We can clip some of it.
- 54:23Speaker 1: We can throw it on social. We'll get some engagement.
- 54:25Speaker 1: And it'll go from there.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:27Speaker 3: I mean, I am not, like, ascribing any nefarious behavior
- 54:33Speaker 3: to anybody.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Like, my guess is.
- 54:36Speaker 3: The most powerful people in sports are also the most
- 54:39Speaker 3: famous people in college sports, also the most famous people
- 54:42Speaker 3: in college sports. It just so happens that the athletes,
- 54:45Speaker 3: they don't stay in college long enough to be associated
- 54:48Speaker 3: with college in the way.
- 54:49Speaker 2: That these guys are.
- 54:50Speaker 3: So when you want someone on a show, you're going
- 54:52Speaker 3: to get a star. And the stars happen to be
- 54:55Speaker 3: the administrators and the coaches. And for the administrators and
- 54:58Speaker 3: the coaches, this bill makes perfect sense. So like, that's
- 55:02Speaker 3: my thing is like, I don't think Nick Saban, I'm
- 55:05Speaker 3: not going to say whether he's good or bad.
- 55:06Speaker 2: That ain't my role. I don't care.
- 55:08Speaker 3: And the same thing could be said about all the
- 55:10Speaker 3: other people who've been promoting this bill across our network.
- 55:14Speaker 3: And I don't think that the producers or anybody has
- 55:16Speaker 3: this master plan. Like, yeah, we're going to win this.
- 55:19Speaker 3: We're going to get this passed in the House and
- 55:21Speaker 3: the Senate. We're going to get it signed into law.
- 55:23Speaker 3: I don't think anybody's thinking like that. I think they're like,
- 55:26Speaker 3: Nick Saban wants to come on our show. We want
- 55:28Speaker 3: Nick Saban on the show. He wants to talk about what?
- 55:31Speaker 3: All right, we'll ask him a question about that.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Get it out the way because ultimately also no one cares. Like,
- 55:38Speaker 2: no one is tuning in Nick Saban to find out.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Like, the people who are trying to coax into watching
- 55:43Speaker 3: the show aren't like, I wonder how Nick Saban feels
- 55:46Speaker 3: about the college sports bill. And so, like, even including
- 55:49Speaker 3: that is a favor. And then what I would want
- 55:53Speaker 3: and all of us would want is like, now we
- 55:55Speaker 3: got to push back. And they're like, no, we want
- 55:58Speaker 3: to get that out and get it off and get
- 56:00Speaker 3: back to the stuff that they care about.
- 56:02Speaker 2: And my thought is like.
- 56:03Speaker 3: which is why I kind of came up with this
- 56:04Speaker 3: little simple question, who gets the power and who has
- 56:07Speaker 3: the control? I don't want to talk about all this
- 56:10Speaker 3: good stuff that it does, all this great stuff that's helping.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Anybody who has any of these people on or anybody
- 56:17Speaker 3: who is promoting.
- 56:18Speaker 2: This bill, also ask who has the power, who gets
- 56:22Speaker 2: the control. That's it.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Let me tell you the biggest test that we could
- 56:25Speaker 1: do is somehow with that revenue sharing number or whatever
- 56:27Speaker 1: it is, put that coach's staff number in that same
- 56:32Speaker 1: pot And now we're going to find out who really
- 56:34Speaker 1: worth this money.
- 56:36Speaker 2: AD, put them all in there. Put them all in there.
- 56:39Speaker 1: And we're going to let the market, in this case,
- 56:43Speaker 1: was the clips out, let God sort them out?
- 56:45Speaker 2: Yep. God is the market. Like I always say. Y'all
- 56:48Speaker 2: pray to it.
- 56:49Speaker 1: In Adam Smith, Adam Smith, Wealth and Nation, the idea
- 56:51Speaker 1: of the invisible hand, God. That's what they're saying is, well,
- 56:55Speaker 1: how's the rest of it going to work it out?
- 56:57Speaker 1: God going to work it out, right? Let God work
- 57:02Speaker 1: it out right here. We're going to find out who
- 57:04Speaker 1: the real players are in this year. But hey, Dominique Foxworth,
- 57:08Speaker 1: check him out at the Dominique Foxworth Show, available for
- 57:11Speaker 1: all five podcasts and give it away for free. We're
- 57:13Speaker 1: trying to catch up to you, baby. Get ourselves a
- 57:15Speaker 1: little studio space.
- 57:16Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? While I'm sitting here in
- 57:18Speaker 2: front of my kids. Well, that's that's that's for my
- 57:20Speaker 2: show for your show.
- 57:23Speaker 3: I mean, but I'm trying to catch up to you.
- 57:26Speaker 3: You had a point where somebody else paid for that.
- 57:28Speaker 3: The studio I'm in.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Fair point.
- 57:32Speaker 2: That's me, brother. Fair point.
- 57:34Speaker 1: But that's because you such a player. You know, people
- 57:35Speaker 1: that's like, yo, man, come in the studio, big dog.
