- 1:07Speaker 2: here from six to seven, so stop on by, and
- 1:10Speaker 2: yes you're Philadelphia Eagles. They do it. They beat the
- 1:14Speaker 2: Washington Commanders in Landover twenty nine to eighteen, and they
- 1:19Speaker 2: win the NFC East in consecutive seasons, becoming the first
- 1:22Speaker 2: team to accomplish that feat in twenty one years when
- 1:25Speaker 2: they themselves did that under Andy Reid. I'm Andrew de Checko,
- 1:30Speaker 2: Eagles beat reporter for Inside the Birds dot Com. And
- 1:33Speaker 2: alongside me, my guy, the great Jeff Mos. You're from
- 1:36Speaker 2: Inside the Birds and Philly Voice. Jeff, what do you
- 1:39Speaker 2: what'd you make of that game?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Well, first of all, as you just said, Andrew, this
- 1:43Speaker 3: is amazing. Look here, a couple of days before Christmas,
- 1:46Speaker 3: we're at Chickis and Petz and Marlton.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And this is a packed house.
- 1:50Speaker 4: This is amazing. You know.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Unfortunately we were gonna have we were supposed to have
- 1:53Speaker 3: will Shipley be a guest. Things changed because the Eagles
- 1:55Speaker 3: practiced today. Obviously they don't normally practice on a Tuesday.
- 1:59Speaker 3: The flips things up. But to see all the people
- 2:02Speaker 3: here excited about the Eagles, excited about what's going on here.
- 2:05Speaker 3: They're late push as you're alluding to, it kind of
- 2:07Speaker 3: shows you the great gravitational force and pull right between
- 2:12Speaker 3: Inside the Birds and of course WBCB.
- 2:15Speaker 4: So awesome to be here, Awesome to see all these people.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I hope everybody's happy and feeling better now after two
- 2:20Speaker 3: consecutive wins than the three straight losses that nobody wants
- 2:24Speaker 3: to think about at this moment.
- 2:26Speaker 4: And I do think, Andrew, as.
- 2:27Speaker 3: We'll talk about over the course of this hour as
- 2:30Speaker 3: people continue to pile in here is are the Eagles
- 2:33Speaker 3: getting right at the right time?
- 2:36Speaker 2: And before I you know, I don't want to neglect
- 2:39Speaker 2: today's festivus, So happy Festivnest to those who observe and
- 2:42Speaker 2: the rest of us that happy howadays to all those
- 2:45Speaker 2: out there and everyone listening. We appreciate your support. But Jeff,
- 2:48Speaker 2: to answer your question, what a game that was, because
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think that that adequately demonstrated the Eagles resilience. There
- 2:56Speaker 2: was a lot of times in that game where you
- 2:58Speaker 2: could see momentum shift right. You look at the overthrow
- 3:02Speaker 2: to aj Brown in the first quarter. It set up
- 3:04Speaker 2: the forty three yard field goal from Jake Elliott. They
- 3:07Speaker 2: missed the field goal. Marcus Mariota regains possession in optimal
- 3:11Speaker 2: field position at the thirty three he hits Terry McLaurin
- 3:14Speaker 2: for a forty yard strike yep, and then they score
- 3:17Speaker 2: Crosskey Merritt, And then you start to wonder, oh, is
- 3:20Speaker 2: this sort of an unraveling here, But you got to
- 3:23Speaker 2: credit the Eagles for taking that regrouping and getting things
- 3:27Speaker 2: heading in the right direction. They looked a lot more
- 3:29Speaker 2: functional from an offensive and defensive standpoint thereafter.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, Andrew, if you would have told myself,
- 3:35Speaker 3: if somebody would have told you that at halftime, the
- 3:39Speaker 3: Eagles would be losing to the Commanders, they would have
- 3:42Speaker 3: a couple of missed field goals and not look very
- 3:45Speaker 3: good offensively, I think people would have said, Man, the
- 3:49Speaker 3: Eagles from weeks one to thirteen fourteen are back.
- 3:53Speaker 2: They're inconsistent.
- 3:54Speaker 3: But then you look at the final score and that
- 3:57Speaker 3: last touchdown by Washington. Sure they earned it, but against
- 3:59Speaker 3: Eagles backups. I mean, it was a lot more one
- 4:02Speaker 3: sided by the fourth quarter, right because of what the
- 4:04Speaker 3: Eagles were able to do in the second half flipped.
- 4:08Speaker 3: It made you and again it's the Commanders. We're not
- 4:12Speaker 3: gonna overstate.
- 4:13Speaker 2: This, But.
- 4:15Speaker 3: How you felt about the team after the first half
- 4:17Speaker 3: was these are the same old Eagles. How you felt
- 4:20Speaker 3: about the team late in the third quarter and then
- 4:22Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter it was more like, oh they're.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Finding it again.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Okay, they survived some adversity, they survived the miss field goals.
- 4:31Speaker 4: They actually survived.
- 4:32Speaker 3: A couple about three or four big plays that the
- 4:34Speaker 3: Commanders were able to make, which is the difference between
- 4:37Speaker 3: the Commander's bad and the raiders bad. Right, the Commanders
- 4:39Speaker 3: are bad, but they have guys who could beat you,
- 4:42Speaker 3: like McLaurin and deebo Okay, for the Eagles to finally
- 4:46Speaker 3: get that run game in Saquon Barkley really in a
- 4:49Speaker 3: nice gear late third, early fourth and to be able
- 4:51Speaker 3: to pull away, I thought this. I thought, if you
- 4:55Speaker 3: look at the game in entirety, not just the first half,
- 4:57Speaker 3: this looked more like the last Eagle Eagles of last year,
- 5:01Speaker 3: the way they won, the style with which they played,
- 5:04Speaker 3: than anytime this year.
- 5:06Speaker 2: No, that's fair. And so I look at the games
- 5:09Speaker 2: against the Raiders and the Commanders, and it's easy to
- 5:13Speaker 2: look at it and say, it's just those teams. Obviously,
- 5:16Speaker 2: you can only play the teams that are on your schedule,
- 5:18Speaker 2: but there are tangible things you can take away from that. Right,
- 5:21Speaker 2: you want to see a team like the Eagles, who
- 5:22Speaker 2: are viewed and rightfully so, among the NFL's elite, certainly
- 5:25Speaker 2: in this season where there's just a ton of parody
- 5:27Speaker 2: across the NFL, But you want to see them really
- 5:30Speaker 2: take a team to task like they did against the Raiders. Yes,
- 5:33Speaker 2: surrendering always seventy five total yards. Against the Commanders, they
- 5:36Speaker 2: really pulled away late in that game, and so you
- 5:39Speaker 2: look at certain things that happened in those games, the
- 5:42Speaker 2: defensive dominance against the Raiders, but against the Commanders, I
- 5:46Speaker 2: was kind of curious whether or not we were going
- 5:48Speaker 2: to see them revert back to the offensive philosophy that
- 5:52Speaker 2: they were showcasing against the Chargers and the Raiders, and
- 5:56Speaker 2: they sort of got away from that a little bit.
- 5:58Speaker 2: They didn't go under center as much. There's a lot
- 6:00Speaker 2: of shotgun They got the running game going. But what
- 6:02Speaker 2: were your initial reactions or initial takeaways, i should say,
- 6:05Speaker 2: from their offensive approach. So I was I was very surprised.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I we know Kim Latu was out okay, and we
- 6:14Speaker 3: talked about this on the pregame show.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I'm glad inside.
- 6:16Speaker 3: The Birds really explained really well that when a player
- 6:19Speaker 3: practices on Friday and his listed as questionable, ninety nine
- 6:24Speaker 3: percent of the time, they're going to play. But we
- 6:26Speaker 3: mentioned that with stingers they're much trickier. You cannot just
- 6:30Speaker 3: assume a guy who's going to play, and obviously a
- 6:31Speaker 3: LOT two did not play.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Right, he was a full participant.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Correct. I went back and looked at it when I
- 6:36Speaker 2: was writing my injury report today and the final practice,
- 6:39Speaker 2: which was a Thursday. The Thursday was, oh, yeah, he
- 6:42Speaker 2: was a full participant. He was limited the prior day,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and then he went into the game with the official
- 6:46Speaker 2: designation of questionable. Correct.
- 6:48Speaker 4: So we nailed that one. It's a tricky injury.
- 6:52Speaker 3: So my thought process going into the game was, maybe
- 6:55Speaker 3: without Latsu, you don't see what you saw against the Raiders,
- 6:59Speaker 3: which was a clear ground and pound philosophy from the start.
- 7:03Speaker 3: They came out with three tight ends on the field.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Against the Raiders, they ran the ball, sometimes not successfully,
- 7:09Speaker 3: but they didn't care. They were gonna run the ball.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And in this game, Andrew and I don't know how
- 7:13Speaker 3: much having lotso or not mattered, but they clearly had
- 7:17Speaker 3: a different approach. Their approach was let's be spread, let's
- 7:21Speaker 3: be spread out, let's be empty, more probably than they
- 7:25Speaker 3: have been all year.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:26Speaker 4: And what that does is when you.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Go spread empty, you make a defense to Claire, and
- 7:30Speaker 3: you help your quarterback get clear, defined reads and you
- 7:34Speaker 3: saw after the fumble of the opening kickoff, second drive
- 7:38Speaker 3: and then third possession, really the chain started to move
- 7:41Speaker 3: from spread formations shotgun formations. And Andrew I said to myself,
- 7:45Speaker 3: what the heck happened?
- 7:46Speaker 4: A week ago they.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Just wanted a ground and pound a thirteen personnel, and
- 7:50Speaker 3: then two weeks before that we saw under center, and
- 7:53Speaker 3: now we're kind of seeing the old shotgun that Eagles
- 7:55Speaker 3: from again.
- 7:56Speaker 4: That's why I said, this reminded me of last year.
- 7:58Speaker 3: But it did work for them for the most part.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I know at halftime, I believe they were over three
- 8:04Speaker 3: third down conversions. So there's still a clunkiness about the
- 8:09Speaker 3: offense that's been there all year and will continue to
- 8:12Speaker 3: be there. But I was to answer your question, I
- 8:15Speaker 3: was surprised that, until I thought about it, that they
- 8:20Speaker 3: were going to come out spread, shotgun throwing the ball
- 8:23Speaker 3: the way they did. But Andrew, the commanders were so
- 8:26Speaker 3: beat up in the secondary it almost called for doing
- 8:29Speaker 3: that right. And eventually, here's what the Eagles want to do.
- 8:33Speaker 3: They want to run the ball. They want to rediscover
- 8:36Speaker 3: the ground game that made them Super Bowl champions. What
- 8:39Speaker 3: I find that they're doing week to week Andrew, and
- 8:42Speaker 3: you're probably seeing the same thing. Is because of their
- 8:45Speaker 3: struggles this year, they're trying different tactics to get to
- 8:48Speaker 3: the same point. And against the Commanders, they had a
- 8:52Speaker 3: different tactic by going spread, shotgun, no huddle, but by
- 8:56Speaker 3: the third or fourth quarter, they got to where they
- 8:59Speaker 3: wanted to be, which was running the ball and getting
- 9:02Speaker 3: explosives from Saquon.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yes and right. So that's interesting because I caught a
- 9:06Speaker 2: little bit of Kevin Petullo's press conference on my right end.
- 9:09Speaker 2: He and Jalen Hurt spoke about four forty today and
- 9:13Speaker 2: he mentioned, Yeah, we got away from the charge of
- 9:15Speaker 2: stuff we did in previous weeks, but we were trying
- 9:17Speaker 2: to work some other things in and see if we
- 9:19Speaker 2: can get that to work. I tend to think if
- 9:22Speaker 2: they're able to kind of strike a balance between what
- 9:26Speaker 2: they're able to execute in those games and what they
- 9:28Speaker 2: did against the Commanders, that should be feasible enough to
- 9:33Speaker 2: be able to be to provide some semblance of an
- 9:37Speaker 2: offense that's going to be consistent. And I don't want
- 9:40Speaker 2: to get too much further into the program without talking
- 9:43Speaker 2: about the quarterback, Jaywen Hurts. I thought Jalen in the
- 9:47Speaker 2: beginning of that game, there were some misthrows and he
- 9:50Speaker 2: seemed a little hesitant to pull the trigger. I talked
- 9:53Speaker 2: about the throat AJ Brown, you got to hit that.
- 9:55Speaker 2: He threw a nice ball to Devonte Smith. He dropped
- 9:57Speaker 2: that touchdown, very uncharacteristic. Jalalen comes back to him on
- 10:00Speaker 2: the next play and DeVante runs a beautiful route to
- 10:04Speaker 2: shake Free scores a touchdown there. But there are plays
- 10:07Speaker 2: to be made on the field, and that's something that
- 10:09Speaker 2: I've seen and has been sort of a prevailing theme
- 10:12Speaker 2: throughout the season. But I thought that Jalen Hurts really
- 10:15Speaker 2: settled in and did some nice things as the game progressed.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Well, there's two things that I thought he did really well,
- 10:21Speaker 3: and again in a way that we were accustom to
- 10:24Speaker 3: seeing last year. One is because he hit on some
- 10:28Speaker 3: of those passes you're referring to on that especially on
- 10:30Speaker 3: that second and third drive. They were ahead of the sticks,
- 10:33Speaker 3: and because they weren't as many penalties from the offensive line,
- 10:36Speaker 3: they were able to get into their no huddle, probably
- 10:39Speaker 3: as well as they've done all year long.
- 10:41Speaker 4: And when the Eagles get into no huddle, they're really.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Tough because Jalen is excellent at deciding when to get
- 10:47Speaker 3: to no huddle and then at what speed he wants
- 10:50Speaker 3: to run no huddle at.
- 10:51Speaker 4: They've got like three different no huddle speeds.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Why they still have to wait until the zero seconds
- 10:56Speaker 3: are on the clock before they snapped the ball, even
- 10:58Speaker 3: though no huddle is beyond me or my pay grade.
- 11:01Speaker 3: But that's one thing that I thought they did well.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And the second thing by being more spread shotgun is
- 11:07Speaker 3: I think you saw the ability for Jalen to run
- 11:11Speaker 3: as the receivers are taking the coverage down the field.
- 11:14Speaker 3: The last two games, I believe he's ran for forty
- 11:16Speaker 3: eight forty yards, which you can go through the first
- 11:19Speaker 3: there were times in the first twelve thirteen weeks he
- 11:21Speaker 3: wasn't even run for ten yards, right, So except for
- 11:23Speaker 3: the Dallas help, except that hell yes, yeah, that was
- 11:25Speaker 3: running for his life.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and the running lanes were just there for the tape.
- 11:29Speaker 4: They were because you're talking about the season opener.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yes, season Dallas made a calculated mistake of rushing inside
- 11:34Speaker 3: the tackles and leasing it.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yes, yes, the change in the second half.
- 11:39Speaker 3: They definitely did so, I thought, But I thought that
- 11:41Speaker 3: was good to get that part of their game going
- 11:44Speaker 3: again because and I think if you just took like
- 11:48Speaker 3: truth zoom and just shot it into all the Eagles coaches,
- 11:52Speaker 3: they would love to. They would say, I wish we
- 11:54Speaker 3: could be like last year. I wish we could be
- 11:56Speaker 3: shotgun all the time. I wish we could get our
- 11:58Speaker 3: run game going for the shotgun. I think the under
- 12:01Speaker 3: center that we see in the Jumbo package have helped
- 12:06Speaker 3: become make them more diversified. But it's stuff that they
- 12:09Speaker 3: felt they've had to do because the other stuff wasn't
- 12:11Speaker 3: working exactly. And I'm really curious about the few like
- 12:15Speaker 3: what this means for the next two weeks in the playoffs,
- 12:18Speaker 3: because I'm I'm on both sides of this. I think
- 12:21Speaker 3: it's a great luxury when you can present yourself in
- 12:25Speaker 3: different ways because now a defense has to practice against
- 12:28Speaker 3: five or six different formations that you've used at a
- 12:31Speaker 3: time in a game.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Right, But at the same time, it's.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Not really who the Eagles are, And you wonder.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Can you can they didn't Jalen throw the ball at
- 12:39Speaker 3: thirty five forty times against Commanders.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Like thirty yeah, like thirty seven against the Chargers.
- 12:47Speaker 4: The Chargers, right, I don't think they want that.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I think they would like to go back to a
- 12:52Speaker 3: more balanced offense, but they're having trouble getting to that.
- 12:55Speaker 2: You know, that's the issue. A lot of times this season,
- 12:57Speaker 2: it's been the self inflicted wounds, constantly playing from the
- 13:00Speaker 2: hind the sticks. You often hear Jyalen Hurds and Kevin
- 13:02Speaker 2: Patula talk about that a lot. And I've gotten a
- 13:05Speaker 2: lot of questions personally, why the change this late in
- 13:08Speaker 2: the season. Well, there's always so many different cards you
- 13:10Speaker 2: can play at this stage of the game, right, You're
- 13:13Speaker 2: not going to swap out your personnel when your offense
- 13:15Speaker 2: is stagnant. When it's static like that, you have to
- 13:18Speaker 2: find different ways almost get become comfortable being uncomfortable and
- 13:22Speaker 2: try different things. And you said it best. It's now
- 13:25Speaker 2: more diversified. They know they can do it and execute
- 13:28Speaker 2: it and you're not so one dimensional. But they don't
- 13:32Speaker 2: want to be a classic drop back team dropping back
- 13:35Speaker 2: thirty five times. That is not foundationally how this team
- 13:37Speaker 2: is built, right.
- 13:38Speaker 3: And what we have to find out And I'm not
- 13:40Speaker 3: going to put a value judgment on it now because
- 13:43Speaker 3: who knows, But can they accomplish what they've accomplished with
- 13:48Speaker 3: these new looks. Whether it's the new passing concepts under center, jumbo,
- 13:52Speaker 3: whatever shotgunspread against the Rams.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Or the Seahawks, I don't know, you know because.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Even along the way, well you've seen good things and
- 14:01Speaker 3: you've seen bad things.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Right, they haven't had like two.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Games against really good opponents where they've tried this new
- 14:07Speaker 3: stuff and they've looked amazing.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Honestly, the best the new concepts looked.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Were against the Chargers and they had five turnovers in
- 14:13Speaker 3: that game.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm really interested.
- 14:16Speaker 3: And I also wonder if you go back to OTA's
- 14:20Speaker 3: in training camp, every time Jalen Hurts or Kevin Patulo
- 14:24Speaker 3: or Nick Sirianni held a press conference, do you remember
- 14:26Speaker 3: how often they talked about the new iteration of their offense?
- 14:29Speaker 4: Sure that where was that?
- 14:30Speaker 2: For ten weeks?
- 14:31Speaker 4: It wasn't there.
- 14:32Speaker 3: They only got to it because they had to, right,
- 14:34Speaker 3: So I was I'm wondering why they didn't.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Start trying this stuff earlier. I don't know. Yeah, I
- 14:39Speaker 2: just don't know. If it wasn't because Jalen wasn't comfortable
- 14:41Speaker 2: with it, if they thought they could lean on their
- 14:44Speaker 2: their philosophical approach that had been so successful for a
- 14:47Speaker 2: number of years, but clearly, I think and teams catch
- 14:50Speaker 2: up to that, and then you have to find a
- 14:52Speaker 2: counter or at least be able to strike that balance.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And I think the Eagles are starting to. It's not
- 14:57Speaker 2: the offense that you or I or Adam or any
- 14:59Speaker 2: of us expected going into the season, but they're starting
- 15:03Speaker 2: to show some signs of life. Yeah, and I just
- 15:05Speaker 2: wonder like it's like they didn't listen to themselves.
- 15:07Speaker 3: They knew they needed to evolve offensively, but didn't do
- 15:10Speaker 3: it until they lost a bunch of games.
- 15:11Speaker 4: In a row and had really bad offenses.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Well, we're gonna get into the injury situation.
- 15:17Speaker 2: There's some good and some not so good for the Eagles,
- 15:20Speaker 2: at least today, the first day that they had practice
- 15:22Speaker 2: this week. But you're listening to the Pro Football Report
- 15:25Speaker 2: presented by BCWSA right here on fourteen ninety WBCB and
- 15:30Speaker 2: one oh seven three FMN Scene live at wbcbsports dot com. Hey,
- 15:36Speaker 2: it's Jeff Mosher. Quick question for you.
- 15:38Speaker 3: If you could stop somebody from breaking into your home
- 15:40Speaker 3: before they got inside, why wouldn't you. That's why I've
- 15:43Speaker 3: got simply safe, the best home alarm system so much
- 15:47Speaker 3: better than those old school systems that go after somebody
- 15:50Speaker 3: that's already in your place when it's way too late.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Simply Safe is different, proactive, and you get a double
- 15:57Speaker 3: layer of defense that stops crimes before they start. They've
- 16:00Speaker 3: got AI powered cameras that spot potential threats outside, and
- 16:04Speaker 3: then live agents step in. They talk to the person
- 16:07Speaker 3: through the camera to let them know they're on video,
- 16:09Speaker 3: and police will be dispatched if they don't leave. You
- 16:12Speaker 3: can get simply Safe with no long term contracts or
- 16:15Speaker 3: hidden fees, and you can cancel at any time. They

- 18:53Speaker 2: What more can I say? You are listening to the
- 18:55Speaker 2: Pro Football Report presented by BCWSA right here on fourteen
- 18:59Speaker 2: ninety WBCB and one O seven three FM and scene
- 19:03Speaker 2: live at wbcbsports dot com. So today in Eagles Land
- 19:07Speaker 2: was the first practice of the week, and it had
- 19:10Speaker 2: my schedule, you know, thrown for a loop a little
- 19:12Speaker 2: bit because I'm used to Wednesday, Thursday Friday, and so
- 19:16Speaker 2: today Vic Vangiel spoke, Michael Clay spoke. Then they had
- 19:20Speaker 2: practice at about two point fifty today they were inside.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Some really positive news in terms of the injuries. Who
- 19:28Speaker 2: do I see walking into the practice bubble holding a
- 19:31Speaker 2: helmet defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who missed the last three
- 19:35Speaker 2: games after having a procedure on his shoulders great news.
- 19:38Speaker 2: There no sign of Lane Johnson, so we still have
- 19:43Speaker 2: to wait for the official injury report to be released
- 19:45Speaker 2: later today to see. But for the time that we
- 19:47Speaker 2: were there five or ten minutes, he wasn't there. No
- 19:51Speaker 2: to Kobe Dean today, who is he suffered a hamstring injury.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I don't get the sense that it's anything severe. Vic
- 19:57Speaker 2: Fangio today said that he thinks he's gonna be iffy
- 19:59Speaker 2: for this week, which would mean Johad Campbell would be starting,
- 20:03Speaker 2: and he was wearing a sleeve on his left leg
- 20:06Speaker 2: for what it's worth. But I did see him kind
- 20:07Speaker 2: of walking around talking to guys as they're in the
- 20:10Speaker 2: stretch line, always in a good mood. And Cameron Lattu,
- 20:13Speaker 2: who of course missed Saturday's game with a stinger. He
- 20:16Speaker 2: was there, had his Helmet was practicing, so it seems
- 20:20Speaker 2: like that's trending in a positive direction as well. And
- 20:22Speaker 2: Landon Dickerson. I should also say Jeff was off to
- 20:25Speaker 2: the side not practicing. It's also important to mention last
- 20:29Speaker 2: Tuesday they had a walk through, he was estimated as
- 20:32Speaker 2: a non participant. Then on Wednesday he didn't participate. He
- 20:36Speaker 2: was listed with calf slash rest. It's part of the
- 20:40Speaker 2: maintenance plan that they have at this stage of the
- 20:42Speaker 2: season with Landon. I don't know what this is, if
- 20:45Speaker 2: it's the same thing or something something different, but I
- 20:50Speaker 2: think right now you would take the Jaywen Carter coming
- 20:53Speaker 2: back to practice. That's a positive sign for the Eagles.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Oh, absolutely, it's a positive sign.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Now here's what's really interesting, right I've talked to a
- 21:02Speaker 3: couple of different medical professionals on the injections that you
- 21:07Speaker 3: can get into your shoulder.
- 21:08Speaker 4: That's why it's called procedures. You know, you didn't have
- 21:10Speaker 4: a surgery.
- 21:12Speaker 3: And in the medical community, there's actually, from what I
- 21:15Speaker 3: was told, no data that proves that the PRP injections
- 21:20Speaker 3: help people do it. I mean, there's a lot of
- 21:24Speaker 3: different medical stuff that people do where there's not actual
- 21:26Speaker 3: proof that it helps. So I don't know how much
- 21:30Speaker 3: this is going to alleviate the discomfort. And he's about
- 21:33Speaker 3: to play a grind of a game, right If he
- 21:35Speaker 3: plays against the Bills, sure, and.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Then you got the playoffs.
- 21:37Speaker 4: So hopefully for him, just the time off at very
- 21:40Speaker 4: least the time.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Off maybe just eased up his shoulders and maybe the
- 21:44Speaker 3: if it's the injections that he had, that that really
- 21:46Speaker 3: did help him, But he could have opted to have surgery,
- 21:51Speaker 3: but then he would have been out a lot longer. Clearly,
- 21:53Speaker 3: this is something he's gonna have to take care of
- 21:55Speaker 3: in the offseason. And I think what I'm getting at
- 21:57Speaker 3: is probably reasonable to expect that he is not going
- 22:02Speaker 3: to be Jill and Carter of last year. Not that
- 22:04Speaker 3: you need it, especially with Jordan Davis playing the way
- 22:07Speaker 3: he's playing, but I am very interested to see how
- 22:10Speaker 3: he looks physically and how much VIC plays him if
- 22:14Speaker 3: he plays against the Bills.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so I want to talk about some of the
- 22:17Speaker 2: other defensive tackles that have been called upon to fill
- 22:19Speaker 2: that void in a moment, But what do you make
- 22:22Speaker 2: in the Kobe Dean's absence, the hamstring injury and what
- 22:25Speaker 2: that could mean for Jehiv Campbell because Jahat Campbell was
- 22:27Speaker 2: playing playing well for a rookie, and Vic Fangio doesn't
- 22:33Speaker 2: traditionally rotate his linebackers, so when n Kobe's playing as
- 22:36Speaker 2: well as he is, it's hard to find the spot. Now,
- 22:38Speaker 2: if you're asking me, I think there should be twelve
- 22:40Speaker 2: to fifteen snaps that you should be able to find
- 22:42Speaker 2: for your first round pick. But the Kobe Dean playing
- 22:46Speaker 2: at an extremely high level, what would your approach be
- 22:49Speaker 2: with this? I would be surprised. I guess you hear
- 22:52Speaker 2: Vic Vanjo say if he if he plays this week,
- 22:54Speaker 2: but he's played so well that I think you almost
- 22:57Speaker 2: want to implement a cautious approach.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Yeah, let me answer that question with a question because
- 23:02Speaker 3: I know you're a former high school athlete yourself.
- 23:05Speaker 2: You ever tweak a hammy, even just tweak it? Yeah?
- 23:07Speaker 2: In track?
- 23:08Speaker 4: Do you believe that a hammy tweak is non severe?
- 23:12Speaker 2: I think I think there's different degrees, But for me, yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 2: they're all bad. They're bad, man Like.
- 23:17Speaker 3: I mean, maybe it's not Devanta Adams bad right for
- 23:20Speaker 3: Nikobe where he's grab it and limp it off.
- 23:23Speaker 4: But I think hamstring injury suck.
- 23:26Speaker 2: So I didn't.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I didn't as soon as he left, and they said, Hammy,
- 23:29Speaker 3: I knew he wouldn't be playing against the Bills. And
- 23:31Speaker 3: I don't know if you win the game or if
- 23:33Speaker 3: it if it really doesn't matter in week eighteen, maybe
- 23:37Speaker 3: it shouldn't play him then either unless a seating, of
- 23:39Speaker 3: course is up.
- 23:40Speaker 4: But it's more important to have.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Him for the playoffs than anything, especially with how well
- 23:45Speaker 3: he's played. So I look at any hamstring injury as
- 23:50Speaker 3: it sucks and it's severe because if you don't give
- 23:53Speaker 3: it the time. You know this as well as anyone,
- 23:56Speaker 3: even if it's not bothering you that badly, if you
- 23:58Speaker 3: don't give it the right time, you can aggravate it
- 24:01Speaker 3: in a finger snap.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Sure you can, especially in the cold weather. Yes, like
- 24:05Speaker 2: they're going to experience in Buffalo. Certainly, if it's a
- 24:08Speaker 2: thirty degree day in Buffalo, that's like South.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Beach and by the way, exactly here either, yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly so yeah. So I think when you look
- 24:18Speaker 2: at it, when you look at Lane Johnson and Jaylen Carter,
- 24:21Speaker 2: if there's one of the player, one of the two
- 24:23Speaker 2: who you'd like to see get some work before the
- 24:25Speaker 2: regular season, draws to a close. For me, it would
- 24:28Speaker 2: be Jay when Carter because he's had conditioning issues earlier
- 24:31Speaker 2: in the season. Vic Fangio offered as much, and you
- 24:35Speaker 2: want to see him sort of work his way back
- 24:36Speaker 2: into the mix here and be able to play the
- 24:39Speaker 2: lion's sheriff snaps as he was prior to that. Lane Johnson,
- 24:42Speaker 2: I think you saw, I don't know if you watched
- 24:44Speaker 2: Hard Knocks, but he looks like he's ready to go,
- 24:47Speaker 2: you know, in great physical condition. I don't have as
- 24:50Speaker 2: much concern about him being able to kind of step
- 24:52Speaker 2: in without missing a beat.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I'm not concerned at all about Lane's conditioning, his physical conditioning,
- 24:59Speaker 3: and he prove that during the first trip to the
- 25:03Speaker 3: Super Bowl, the one they lost when he had torn
- 25:05Speaker 3: his adductor.
- 25:06Speaker 4: That's right, right, right, He missed.
- 25:08Speaker 3: All that time and he came back and even played
- 25:10Speaker 3: on not a doctor and played well. I mean for
- 25:14Speaker 3: Lane Johnson especially, what my concern is is that the
- 25:18Speaker 3: Liz Frank for him is on the right foot, and
- 25:22Speaker 3: that as a right tackle is your back plant foot,
- 25:25Speaker 3: so it puts more stress than on your inside. I
- 25:29Speaker 3: think you're your post, like you call it or whatever.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So I actually would like to see how he If
- 25:35Speaker 3: I'm a coach or or a physician right or the
- 25:37Speaker 3: team trainer, I'm kind of curious to see how he
- 25:41Speaker 3: can handle those vertical sets where you're constantly, you know, banging.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Your your foot the mid part of your foot down.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Into their ground.
- 25:50Speaker 3: So I think it's important that he gets out there
- 25:51Speaker 3: and shows that he can he can handle it. Now,
- 25:53Speaker 3: it's very possible he can't and he reaggravates it, but
- 25:57Speaker 3: that means to me it was going to be bound
- 25:59Speaker 3: to happen anyway because he.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Never had surgery, right.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It just it was a spring that we know of,
- 26:04Speaker 3: and he took the time off needed. But because of
- 26:08Speaker 3: that physical stress, is going to keep putting on that
- 26:10Speaker 3: back foot.
- 26:11Speaker 4: I think it's important to get out there and see
- 26:13Speaker 4: if he can handle it.
- 26:15Speaker 2: And then from a Bill's perspective, Josh Allen, they're a
- 26:18Speaker 2: great quarterback. Did not they had to walk through today.
- 26:20Speaker 2: He did not practice. He had the foot issue.
- 26:24Speaker 4: I mean, what is it with feat.
- 26:26Speaker 2: He's gonna he'll play this week. I'd be you know,
- 26:28Speaker 2: shocked if he doesn't go. But also just a couple
- 26:31Speaker 2: of other players who didn't go today, Matt Prater, their kicker,
- 26:35Speaker 2: Jordan Phillips didn't go, and I mean it's all gonna
- 26:40Speaker 2: be about Josh Allen. All eyes are going to be
- 26:42Speaker 2: on him. But they've had a ton of kicker injuries,
- 26:43Speaker 2: haven't they They have, Yeah, they've had a bunch of
- 26:46Speaker 2: injuries there, so yeah, I mean Jordan Poyer is another
- 26:49Speaker 2: guy who didn't work today, so they have They're not
- 26:51Speaker 2: exactly a clean bill of health over there.
- 26:54Speaker 3: No, it's week seventeen, right, I mean, there's very few
- 26:57Speaker 3: teams who have a clean bill of health. But they've
- 27:00Speaker 3: to me, they've got the guys that they need to
- 27:05Speaker 3: go out and win a game, you know. I know
- 27:07Speaker 3: that they're always paged out now at all of our
- 27:09Speaker 3: situation is interesting to me.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I haven't seen if they expect.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Him to be able to come off I R and
- 27:14Speaker 2: play yet.
- 27:15Speaker 3: If he can, that's a huge addition for them because
- 27:18Speaker 3: absolutely a very good player.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Absolutely, So I want to shift gears here because we
- 27:24Speaker 2: were talking about defensive tackles and I alluded to the
- 27:27Speaker 2: players who had to step in in the absence of
- 27:30Speaker 2: Jalen Carter or take on elevated roles in some cases.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Jordan Davis has been playing outstanding. Moro Jomo five sacks
- 27:38Speaker 2: on the season, He's been a high quality player for
- 27:41Speaker 2: that rotation. Brandon Graham picked up his third sack in
- 27:45Speaker 2: nine snaps or nine total snaps. Yep, I had seven
- 27:48Speaker 2: against the Raiders and then two snaps into that game
- 27:50Speaker 2: picks up another one. He's done a nice job pinch hitting.
- 27:54Speaker 2: And I think a guy who doesn't get talked about
- 27:55Speaker 2: enough is Byron Young. Byron Young has played meaningful snaps
- 27:59Speaker 2: in that rotation and seventy four snaps over the past
- 28:02Speaker 2: three games, two and a half sacks, two three quarterback hits,
- 28:06Speaker 2: two tackles for loss. Yeah, And I think when you
- 28:09Speaker 2: look back on this season, you'll look at some of
- 28:11Speaker 2: those unsung heroes who stepped in ably and were able
- 28:14Speaker 2: to do that. But it all starts with Jordan Davis
- 28:16Speaker 2: and Moro Jomo set in the town and being able
- 28:18Speaker 2: to kind of bridge that gap.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:20Speaker 4: I give Jordan Davis man a ton of credit.
- 28:23Speaker 3: He had doubters, you know, including Yeah, I in my
- 28:26Speaker 3: I'll call myself a doubter in that I wasn't sure
- 28:28Speaker 3: they were gonna pick up they should have picked up.
- 28:30Speaker 4: The fifth year option.
- 28:32Speaker 3: I didn't know and I losing the weight certainly helped,
- 28:35Speaker 3: but it wasn't just about weight loss. It's about your
- 28:38Speaker 3: hand technique, your explosion. That stuff helps, but there are
- 28:41Speaker 3: plenty of people who lose weight.
- 28:42Speaker 2: But doesn't make him a.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Better football player, right, But I think it gave him
- 28:46Speaker 3: the confidence to as he moves faster and then refined
- 28:50Speaker 3: his hand.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I think his hand.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Usage has been the most improved thing I seen. I
- 28:53Speaker 2: mean he put a.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Swim move on before hitting Chris Rodriguez for a three
- 28:58Speaker 3: yard loss. Yeah, that was so explosive Andrew then I
- 29:01Speaker 3: kept watching it on the All twenty two over and
- 29:03Speaker 3: over again because it was like a baba like bam,
- 29:06Speaker 3: like you don't he never.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Moved like that until this year.
- 29:10Speaker 3: I mean, when you can really swim that fast pass
- 29:13Speaker 3: a guard or a center on top of being able
- 29:16Speaker 3: to just bull rush one, then you know you're really
- 29:18Speaker 3: starting to put it together. He is starting to put
- 29:21Speaker 3: it together. I mean, is he videvea level you know?
- 29:24Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 29:24Speaker 3: I wouldn't quite go that far, because there have been
- 29:27Speaker 3: some games this year where we've seen him play a
- 29:30Speaker 3: little bit high or not have a huge impact, right,
- 29:32Speaker 3: But to play now the way he's playing when Jalen
- 29:35Speaker 3: Carter was out. I mean, you couldn't ask for him
- 29:38Speaker 3: or a step up situation. I just I'm gonna throw
- 29:41Speaker 3: the cavey up if it was anybody put like the
- 29:44Speaker 3: bad you know, Raiders and Commanders offensive line, although the
- 29:48Speaker 3: Commander's offensive line is not bad, so I will give
- 29:50Speaker 3: him credit for that.
- 29:51Speaker 4: They're not that bad.
- 29:52Speaker 2: You've covered Brandon Graham early in his career, ever since
- 29:56Speaker 2: the year day one. He obviously loves the game. But
- 30:00Speaker 2: I'm sure you knowing him as well as you do,
- 30:03Speaker 2: could you have imagined him coming out of retirement at
- 30:05Speaker 2: thirty seven years old and having three sacks and being
- 30:07Speaker 2: tied with Nolan Smith. I think he's still tied with
- 30:10Speaker 2: Nolan Smith.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I can imagine the first half of him coming out
- 30:13Speaker 3: of retirement.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I almost feel like he.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Was sitting at home waiting with a bat phone.
- 30:17Speaker 3: As soon as soon as Darius Smith retired and the
- 30:21Speaker 3: Edge Rush wasn't getting home, it was like, come on,
- 30:23Speaker 3: come on getting out. But he's in the complex every day.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I'm sure you know you've heard Vic saying he was
- 30:28Speaker 3: saving that locker for him, So that part of it
- 30:31Speaker 3: doesn't surprise me. The way he's impacted the game, coming
- 30:35Speaker 3: off not one but two tricep tears. Yes, including in
- 30:39Speaker 3: the Super Bowl, is shocking to me. I mean just
- 30:42Speaker 3: absolutely mind blowing.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah. And today Vic said, when asked, you're going to
- 30:45Speaker 2: try and talk him out of retirement again. If those
- 30:48Speaker 2: conversations come up, he goes, I may, I might, He goes,
- 30:51Speaker 2: maybe I'll be his agent.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Hey, you think Philip Rivers was like, all heck, Brandon
- 30:56Speaker 3: Graham can do this.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Coming up, we're gonna get to this week's Penworth Financial
- 31:02Speaker 2: Keys to the Game. But you're listening to the Pro

- 32:28Speaker 2: So when you look at the this game right here,
- 32:34Speaker 2: I think when you look at the running game that
- 32:36Speaker 2: the Eagles just showcased against against the Commanders, who solid
- 32:40Speaker 2: glimpses of it against the Raiders, I think that they're
- 32:44Speaker 2: starting to find something there with Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Because yes, you could look at Saquon getting forty eight
- 32:52Speaker 2: yards on one run. He's run hard all season. I've
- 32:56Speaker 2: maintained that he's the same guy, and so I look
- 32:59Speaker 2: at this, and I think they're starting to turn the
- 33:01Speaker 2: corner there in a positive way. Yeah, they are. They're running.
- 33:05Speaker 3: I think the last three games they've had over one
- 33:07Speaker 3: hundred yards total, which is good. I know their average
- 33:10Speaker 3: hasn't always been great. But to your point, Andrew, I
- 33:14Speaker 3: think anybody who's saying who felt that Sequon Barkley was
- 33:18Speaker 3: wearing down, you didn't watch that game and see what
- 33:21Speaker 3: you saw the opposite. I mean, his touchdown run was unbelievable,
- 33:25Speaker 3: because what was cool about it was the first five
- 33:29Speaker 3: yards he was untouched, so you finally got some yards
- 33:31Speaker 3: before contact back.
- 33:32Speaker 4: But then two guys converged and he.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Got real low, spun around, got out of it, and
- 33:38Speaker 3: then bowled over two guys to get into the end zone.
- 33:41Speaker 4: So it was like, oh, there you go.
- 33:42Speaker 3: He ran tough, and then there was that really nice
- 33:45Speaker 3: run where he should have been dropped for about four
- 33:47Speaker 3: yard loss in the backfield, which shows you that the
- 33:50Speaker 3: offensive line is still having some issues.
- 33:52Speaker 4: But he made that. He made something out of nothing.
- 33:55Speaker 3: And what I really find amazing, Andrew, is that I
- 33:58Speaker 3: think right now Barkley is top four in attempts in
- 34:03Speaker 3: the NFL. So despite the fact that he has not
- 34:06Speaker 3: had the success that he had last year and the
- 34:08Speaker 3: yards per carry average and all that, and he's among
- 34:10Speaker 3: the leaders in getting hit before content yards before content. Right,
- 34:15Speaker 3: he's not worn down. I mean, they're giving him the ball,
- 34:18Speaker 3: and I actually think they should give Bigsby like a series,
- 34:21Speaker 3: just to give them a series every once in a while,
- 34:23Speaker 3: because you know, even Josh Jacobs, as good as he is,
- 34:26Speaker 3: they give the ball to Emmanuel Wilson. There are other
- 34:29Speaker 3: number one running backs who just sit for a series.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I don't know why they can't do that with Saquin,
- 34:34Speaker 3: but I think that it's a good sign that he
- 34:37Speaker 3: stayed healthy. He's looking he's running tough, running angry, like
- 34:42Speaker 3: he said, and even despite the similar success of last year,
- 34:46Speaker 3: he's among the top five ball carriers.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so I look at the running game, re establishing that,
- 34:51Speaker 2: trying to get into some sort of a rhythm as
- 34:53Speaker 2: one of the prominent keys to this game against the
- 34:57Speaker 2: Buffalo Bills. Try and keep Josh Allen and that off
- 35:00Speaker 2: off off the field. Yes, and yeah you also, for me,
- 35:05Speaker 2: I wonder how much that foot injury is going to
- 35:08Speaker 2: impact Josh Allen, And we talked a lot about that
- 35:11Speaker 2: and by the way, that injury report that we spoke
- 35:14Speaker 2: of was brought to you by the attorneys at Begley,
- 35:16Speaker 2: Carlin and Mandio. Contact them today for a free consultation
- 35:20Speaker 2: at two one five eight zero six three six eight nine.
- 35:23Speaker 2: That's two one five eight zero six three six eight nine.
- 35:27Speaker 2: So the injury there. Jeff to Josh Allen, I think
- 35:31Speaker 2: it is something that could really hinder what they try
- 35:35Speaker 2: to do offensively because he's had to be superman all season.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I look at it as an opportunity for the Eagles
- 35:41Speaker 2: to really hone in on their on their quarterback runs
- 35:46Speaker 2: because we never really got a chance to see that
- 35:48Speaker 2: again with Marcus Mariota because he got hurt. This is
- 35:51Speaker 2: this to me before the postseason should be a good
- 35:55Speaker 2: a good opportunity for the Eagles to be able to
- 35:59Speaker 2: to test themselves against a quarterback like that who is
- 36:02Speaker 2: really lethal with his legs and he lowers his shoulder
- 36:04Speaker 2: and really packs a punch. Yeah.
- 36:06Speaker 3: So he came out of the Browns game right and
- 36:08Speaker 3: then came back in. Uh, it was hard to see
- 36:12Speaker 3: if he was really impacted negatively.
- 36:15Speaker 2: By the foot. I'm sure it's hurting him. I'm sure
- 36:17Speaker 2: it's Sometimes it's that adrenaline where you start to feel
- 36:21Speaker 2: the after effects. And that's a good pointer. That's a
- 36:23Speaker 2: good point.
- 36:23Speaker 3: I'm sure he's gonna get a lot of medical I
- 36:25Speaker 3: remember remember when he had like the elbow issue and
- 36:28Speaker 3: they thought it was a torn ucl and then he
- 36:30Speaker 3: came out the next game and threw like four touchdowns.
- 36:33Speaker 4: So I'm going to assume that.
- 36:34Speaker 3: If Josh Allen is playing, he's not going to be
- 36:38Speaker 3: that limited and and so I think that'll be I'm
- 36:42Speaker 3: with you on the ideas. You want to control the
- 36:46Speaker 3: ball and control time possession. It's not something the Eagles
- 36:49Speaker 3: have done well, even in some of their good games.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:52Speaker 3: I don't know if we talk about this on Inside
- 36:54Speaker 3: the Data on Inside the Birds with Sam Finkel, but
- 36:57Speaker 3: the Eagles have been in third and long more this
- 37:01Speaker 3: year than they've been in third and shortened, third medium combined, combined,
- 37:05Speaker 3: and it's like twenty five snaps more. I mean, they
- 37:09Speaker 3: live in third and long, and even I guess the
- 37:11Speaker 3: Commanders all first quarter they were that's not going to
- 37:16Speaker 3: be a successful recipe against the Bills. I don't think
- 37:18Speaker 3: it will. You can't be going three and out three
- 37:21Speaker 3: or four times and give them the ball because they
- 37:23Speaker 3: will score.
- 37:24Speaker 2: And then another key special teams Jeff Jake Elliott is
- 37:30Speaker 2: about fifty percent. He is fifty percent on kicks of
- 37:33Speaker 2: fifty plus and for perspective, the league average is sixty
- 37:37Speaker 2: seven percent from that distance. I believe he's had his
- 37:41Speaker 2: lowest field goal percentage of his career, dating back to
- 37:44Speaker 2: it when he was a rookie in twenty seventeen, and
- 37:46Speaker 2: so you look at that, it's not an overreaction to
- 37:49Speaker 2: have concern over the kicking game. If he has to
- 37:52Speaker 2: make a kick in a critical moment, can he do it?
- 37:55Speaker 2: Will that alter the Eagles approach in how they attack
- 37:58Speaker 2: some of those fourth and long situations. To me, I'm
- 38:01Speaker 2: starting to think that it might, because there's enough of
- 38:04Speaker 2: a sample size there to have legitimate concern or skepticism
- 38:08Speaker 2: that he's going to be able to come through for
- 38:10Speaker 2: you when you need him. Although he has been money
- 38:12Speaker 2: in the postseason every year is unique.
- 38:14Speaker 3: It is you also get the sense of this year
- 38:18Speaker 3: that even in the play like the Gulf between the Eagles, well,
- 38:22Speaker 3: actually I think we get the sense that there are
- 38:23Speaker 3: better teams the Eagles now, whereas at this time last
- 38:26Speaker 3: year you felt that the Eagles were clearly, at least
- 38:29Speaker 3: from a fifty three man roster standpoint far ahead, right,
- 38:32Speaker 3: So it feels like a game could come down to
- 38:36Speaker 3: a kick or too. And yeah, you need to know
- 38:38Speaker 3: if Jake Elliott can make those kicks. And I do
- 38:41Speaker 3: think this game against the Bills and the season finale
- 38:44Speaker 3: are absolutely evaluation times for him.
- 38:47Speaker 4: And it can't it's not a lifetime achievement award.
- 38:50Speaker 3: You're any other kicker in the league who has missed
- 38:53Speaker 3: as much as Jake Elliott has missed this year would
- 38:56Speaker 3: at least have a competitive a competitor in can if
- 39:00Speaker 3: not be replaced, right, So they can't.
- 39:03Speaker 4: And how he's an aggressive GM, you know that.
- 39:06Speaker 3: I think he will definitely look at these two weeks
- 39:09Speaker 3: as some kind of litmus test to see if he
- 39:11Speaker 3: needs to make a move. And probably the only reason
- 39:15Speaker 3: that there's not somebody in camp today is there's just
- 39:17Speaker 3: not a whole lot of good, really dependable kickers out
- 39:21Speaker 3: there to sign at this point. I mean, you got
- 39:23Speaker 3: already a team like the Bills who have so many
- 39:25Speaker 3: injuries and they're signing guys off the street. But Andrew,
- 39:29Speaker 3: the Eagles, to my knowledge, right, are the only team
- 39:32Speaker 3: to ever in the Super Bowl era have two punters
- 39:36Speaker 3: on their fifty three d roster, like they did a
- 39:38Speaker 3: couple of years ago in twenty twenty two with Sip
- 39:40Speaker 3: Austin with Ryan Kerr, right, that's right, Ryan, right, pre Kurr, Yeah,
- 39:45Speaker 3: Brett Currn. So we know that the Eagles are not
- 39:48Speaker 3: afraid to say, hey, we're not getting something here.
- 39:51Speaker 4: We got to bring in somebody.
- 39:52Speaker 3: It doesn't matter how late in the season, it doesn't
- 39:54Speaker 3: matter if we have to unorthodoxly keep two punters on
- 39:57Speaker 3: our fifty three in a Super Bowl. So I don't
- 40:00Speaker 3: think any option is closed right now for Howie, and.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I should mention that there were no tryouts for the
- 40:06Speaker 2: Eagles at all today. Correct, They didn't work out any kicker,
- 40:09Speaker 2: any player, So, which is understandable.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Ken, you're not gonna find somebody right now who's unemployed,
- 40:15Speaker 3: who you're gonna say is way more dependable.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Exactly than je exactly, so you know you hear the
- 40:21Speaker 2: calls for him to be replaced. That's just not how
- 40:23Speaker 2: the Eagles operate. I think Jake Elliott and you talk
- 40:26Speaker 2: about it not not being a lifetime Achievement award, right,
- 40:32Speaker 2: which I agree with but I do believe in the
- 40:35Speaker 2: same sense that he should have built up enough equity
- 40:38Speaker 2: or warrant the benefit of the doubt that he's gonna
- 40:40Speaker 2: be able to kick his way out of it. Now,
- 40:42Speaker 2: you do have to have a contingency plan to your
- 40:45Speaker 2: point in the event that that doesn't work. I mean,
- 40:48Speaker 2: you could also sign a kicker to the practice squad
- 40:51Speaker 2: and have somebody sort of waiting in the wings, a
- 40:53Speaker 2: younger kicker, but it's not something you want to toggle
- 40:56Speaker 2: with as you're approaching the postseason. This just seems to
- 40:59Speaker 2: be a current or unraveling, if you will, at the
- 41:02Speaker 2: most inopportune time.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I think it's fair to say that the best solution possible,
- 41:07Speaker 3: and the Eagles know this, is to figure it out
- 41:11Speaker 3: with Jake Elliott. Then try to have to bring in
- 41:13Speaker 3: somebody else and figure it out with that guy.
- 41:16Speaker 2: So I understand why.
- 41:17Speaker 3: They're gonna support him, be in his corner and work
- 41:20Speaker 3: with him all this week to get him right, because
- 41:23Speaker 3: that's a more logical and realistic and feasible scenario then
- 41:27Speaker 3: signing Joe Schmoe off the street and thinking.
- 41:29Speaker 4: He's gonna come in and make a fifty three yard
- 41:31Speaker 4: or in the snow in Buffalo.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Michael Clyk pretty much said. The approach is to
- 41:35Speaker 2: love him up and you know, continue to support him.
- 41:38Speaker 2: He's been around for a number of years. He knows
- 41:40Speaker 2: what makes him tick. What was odd was that all
- 41:43Speaker 2: of the misses were it looked like carbon copies of
- 41:47Speaker 2: each other. They were all wide left.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I know some people were surprised that
- 41:51Speaker 3: he missed the two in a row because, in a sense,
- 41:55Speaker 3: you know, the penalty made it so that you want
- 41:57Speaker 3: to practice kick but he was practicing missing.
- 42:00Speaker 4: It's the issue.
- 42:00Speaker 3: It's not like he made the first one and then
- 42:02Speaker 3: got to do it again and then missed the second one.
- 42:04Speaker 2: He missed them the same exact way. But in some regard.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Andrew and I'm not a kickering expert at all, but
- 42:11Speaker 3: when you see a guy miss the same way, it
- 42:13Speaker 3: makes me think it's a slight mechanical Yes, if he
- 42:17Speaker 3: had pushed one left, pushed one right, and then came
- 42:20Speaker 3: up short, then you've got a whole other world of
- 42:22Speaker 3: issues you gotta work about, right, you got You're mechanically
- 42:26Speaker 3: all over the map here.
- 42:27Speaker 4: It's one specific way of miss.
- 42:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it looked like it looked like on one of them,
- 42:31Speaker 2: there might have been a high snap from Charlie Hewlett.
- 42:34Speaker 2: And it's worth noting that Charlie Hewitt's back, for he's
- 42:37Speaker 2: been back for just a couple of weeks now. Cal
- 42:39Speaker 2: Idamitus filled in for him. Look, I don't I'm not
- 42:42Speaker 2: even gonna begin. It would be disingenuous for me to
- 42:44Speaker 2: try to break down the mechanics of kicking. I'm just
- 42:47Speaker 2: I don't know enough about that to be able to
- 42:49Speaker 2: speak on that. But when you see something happen like that,
- 42:52Speaker 2: the first thing that sparked my you know, sparked my mind,
- 42:55Speaker 2: was that it was mechanical.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Right, And the look on Jake's face almost suggest that,
- 43:00Speaker 3: like he almost seemed confused. It's like when I play golf,
- 43:04Speaker 3: I feel like I hate a shot, but then it's
- 43:06Speaker 3: slices and I'm like, what's going on?
- 43:08Speaker 2: You know?
- 43:09Speaker 3: But that's what I do. He actually makes his shot,
- 43:12Speaker 3: So I think that's that's where the confusion is. Sometimes
- 43:15Speaker 3: you don't realize that mechanical adjustment, so you see it
- 43:17Speaker 3: on the video and go through it yourself.
- 43:19Speaker 2: But but it's funny because no one pretty much no
- 43:23Speaker 2: one talks about special teams unless there's unless something goes wrong.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I'm as you know, I know you're most I look
- 43:31Speaker 2: at that and so I could tell you that, and
- 43:33Speaker 2: I'm sure you would agree. By and large, the special
- 43:36Speaker 2: teams this season has been pretty effective. Yeah, aside from
- 43:39Speaker 2: the penalties. Uh, you know, you look at Kilee Ringo,
- 43:42Speaker 2: Kam Latu, Jeremiah Trotter, Junior, Kylon grantson Sydney Brown when
- 43:47Speaker 2: he's not you know, made an agree on Man's forty
- 43:50Speaker 2: nine yard punt. He really has. They had a snap
- 43:53Speaker 2: foo in the kick return game that obviously can't happen yep,
- 43:57Speaker 2: but two really too. You're right, yeah, but I'm not
- 44:00Speaker 2: concerned about that because that hasn't happened this season, and
- 44:03Speaker 2: as a punt in the pump return area it certainly has.
- 44:06Speaker 2: But I think what they really need to kind of
- 44:07Speaker 2: hone in on and dial in is the kicking ass.
- 44:10Speaker 3: My belief, especially with turnovers or mistakes that you don't
- 44:14Speaker 3: see like that is, you know, it's an eighteen game
- 44:17Speaker 3: seventeen game season, and you're gonna have a couple of
- 44:19Speaker 3: games where you know, bleep hits the fan, right like
- 44:22Speaker 3: when Matthew Stafford threw three picks against the Panthers a
- 44:25Speaker 3: couple weeks ago, and they lost that game, and.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Everybody's like, what's going on? Oh my god, the Rams
- 44:29Speaker 4: aren't no Matt. That was his first interception since the
- 44:32Speaker 4: Eagles game. It was like fifteen weeks.
- 44:34Speaker 3: In between, right, Like every once in a while you
- 44:36Speaker 3: have a clunker, it happens.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yes, So look, we're gonna close things out by talking
- 44:42Speaker 2: about the Pro Bowl nominations for the Eagles, and we're
- 44:44Speaker 2: gonna get into that defense. We talked a lot about
- 44:46Speaker 2: the offense Jet, but I want to switch gears and
- 44:48Speaker 2: talk about the popularity Ball. You mean, yeah, the popularity Ball.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Look, we'll talk about it. But you're listening to the
- 44:54Speaker 2: Pro Football Report presented by w or BC WSA right
- 44:57Speaker 2: here on fourteen ninety wbc B in one O seven
- 45:00Speaker 2: three FM and seen live at wbcbsports dot com.
- 45:08Speaker 1: We now returned to Chicky's and Pets for the Pro
- 45:11Speaker 1: Football Report presented by BCWSA once again. Here are your
- 45:17Speaker 1: hosts from Inside the Birds, Jeff Moscher and Andrew Ditcheck.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Oh yes, indeed we are live here from the Great
- 45:26Speaker 2: Chickies and Pete in Marlton, New Jersey. I'm Andrew Dechecko,
- 45:30Speaker 2: Eagles beat reporter for Inside the Birds dot Com, alongside
- 45:32Speaker 2: the great Jeff Moscher. From me, this.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Is a great crowd.
- 45:37Speaker 2: The only of these people it is.
- 45:39Speaker 4: Here's firing up here, marl in the tikis and Pete's
- 45:41Speaker 4: got to love them.
- 45:41Speaker 2: It is it is. And look. The Pro Bowl rosters
- 45:47Speaker 2: were revealed today around ten am and the Eagles have
- 45:50Speaker 2: five representatives, those being linebacker z Acbaond, defensive tackle Jalen Carter,
- 45:56Speaker 2: cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, defensive back Cooper dejen and center Camps.
- 46:01Speaker 2: So I am a little confused about the Jalen Carter
- 46:06Speaker 2: one because he's not having his best season and he
- 46:09Speaker 2: missed the He missed the three games right, really four,
- 46:14Speaker 2: he got kicked out of the first game. But he
- 46:17Speaker 2: hasn't been the Jalen Carter that we've grown accustomed to seeing.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Correct and then Cam Jurgens, of course, we've talked a
- 46:22Speaker 2: lot about him having the offseason back surgery and how
- 46:25Speaker 2: long it really will take for him to get back
- 46:27Speaker 2: to being himself. He hasn't been himself this season, so curiously,
- 46:31Speaker 2: of all the Eagles offensive linemen, he was elected to
- 46:35Speaker 2: the Pro Bowl Quinnya Mitchell and Cooper Dejen well deserved.
- 46:39Speaker 2: And you always look at it and say, they're playing
- 46:42Speaker 2: at such a high level, and we watched the Eagles,
- 46:44Speaker 2: so we're fixated on that solely. But if you're not
- 46:48Speaker 2: watching the Eagles, you see the stats and maybe get underwhelming,
- 46:52Speaker 2: you get they kind of you kind of lose sight
- 46:53Speaker 2: of what they've been able to do. But they have
- 46:55Speaker 2: been dominant, especially Quinya Mitchell this season and it's nice
- 47:00Speaker 2: to see that rewarded. So I thought that those two
- 47:03Speaker 2: guys in year two getting elected to their Pro Bowl.
- 47:05Speaker 2: It's also it's a testament to them, but also the
- 47:09Speaker 2: coaching and development with Christian Parker that he goes defensive
- 47:12Speaker 2: backs coach and cornerbacks coach Roy Anderson.
- 47:14Speaker 3: You know, the interesting thing about Vic Fangio's defense is
- 47:18Speaker 3: even though he doesn't blitz a whole lot, especially over
- 47:20Speaker 3: the last six weeks, he's.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Playing a lot more cover one.
- 47:23Speaker 4: It's playing a lot more man defense without blitzing.
- 47:27Speaker 2: And that's just a sign of confidence.
- 47:29Speaker 3: That Quinnyon and Cooper Jean and Adora Jackson's playing well enough.
- 47:33Speaker 4: He just doesn't he thinks he can.
- 47:35Speaker 3: He doesn't feel like he has to play two safeties
- 47:38Speaker 3: deep all the time to eliminate big plays. So if
- 47:42Speaker 3: you take an account that they will start off with
- 47:45Speaker 3: two safeties deep, but a lot of times an opponent
- 47:48Speaker 3: will put like trips to the right three receivers or
- 47:50Speaker 3: something like that, that second safety will rotate toward the
- 47:54Speaker 3: trip side and that leaves Quinnon Mitchell basically in zero coverage,
- 47:59Speaker 3: like by himself against the backside wide receiver.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Sure, and that's a hard route to shut down.
- 48:04Speaker 3: I mean, how often do we see a j bra
- 48:06Speaker 3: go back to like al Seon Jeffrey used to abuse
- 48:09Speaker 3: the corner.
- 48:10Speaker 4: On those one by threes.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Right, Absolutely, he's shutting them down.
- 48:13Speaker 3: And that's a real testament when your defensive coordinator basically says,
- 48:17Speaker 3: you don't need safety help and I'll just play man coverage,
- 48:21Speaker 3: not even plitzing. So I'm not even hurrying up your
- 48:24Speaker 3: quarterback as much as I could. And I believe in
- 48:26Speaker 3: you like that. That's the ultimate testament to how good
- 48:29Speaker 3: you are. And I think Quentin hnshoul be an all pro.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you there. And it's funny because
- 48:35Speaker 2: Vic Vangio when asked about Jordan Davis, he was among
- 48:39Speaker 2: many myself included that believes he should have been given
- 48:43Speaker 2: Pro Bowl recognition. Yeah, he said, you know, see, everybody
- 48:47Speaker 2: and their mother's got to vote for this. He goes,
- 48:49Speaker 2: they have to alter the committee, get a former general manager,
- 48:53Speaker 2: a former executive, a former coach to really hone in
- 48:57Speaker 2: if they really want to take it seriously. And I
- 48:59Speaker 2: think that was about his ringing of an endorsement as
- 49:01Speaker 2: you're gonna hear from Vic Vangio for Jordan Davis.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, especially for Vic Fangio. I thought he was
- 49:07Speaker 3: gonna say, who cares because he's not an accolades guy.
- 49:10Speaker 3: But that is the truth is that Jordan Davis will
- 49:13Speaker 3: probably make it next year, even if he doesn't have
- 49:15Speaker 3: as good of a year, because it's always the it's
- 49:18Speaker 3: the popularity, it's what you did the year before. And
- 49:21Speaker 3: Jordan Davis is not was not an elite defensive tackle
- 49:25Speaker 3: the year before. But I guarantee you, no matter what happens,
- 49:28Speaker 3: next year, will make it because of what he's doing
- 49:29Speaker 3: this year.
- 49:30Speaker 4: It just seems like they're always a year late on
- 49:31Speaker 4: these guys.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think Carter, to your point, he should
- 49:35Speaker 3: have been was he a Pro Bowler last year?
- 49:37Speaker 4: I think it was not a pro.
- 49:39Speaker 2: It may have been an All and he was. He
- 49:41Speaker 2: was an All Pro as well. Right. You know, obviously
- 49:44Speaker 2: you and I don't have any horse in this race,
- 49:46Speaker 2: but you would like to see a player who's playing
- 49:48Speaker 2: at an elite level or an extremely high level be
- 49:53Speaker 2: recognized for what they're able to do, because that matters
- 49:55Speaker 2: to them, and it always matters a little bit more
- 49:58Speaker 2: when you see that under that you know, notation underneath
- 50:01Speaker 2: their their their name on that resume. I think another
- 50:03Speaker 2: player you can make a case for that was totally
- 50:06Speaker 2: snub is punter braiden Man, who you know, front of
- 50:09Speaker 2: the show. We've had him on. We're gonna try and
- 50:11Speaker 2: have him on again before season's end. Tresway is a
- 50:13Speaker 2: great punter for the Washington Commanders, elected to his third
- 50:17Speaker 2: Pro Bowl, but braiden Man's numbers surpassed.
- 50:20Speaker 3: That absolutely, and I think he's also been done a
- 50:23Speaker 3: great job not only just dropping him inside the ten
- 50:25Speaker 3: and the twenty, but angle punting this year. Braiden Man's
- 50:29Speaker 3: there were certain games early in the year where you
- 50:30Speaker 3: thought braiden Mann was.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Single handedly keeping the Eagles in the game.
- 50:34Speaker 3: They had so many three and outs Andrew right but
- 50:37Speaker 3: and he was out there half the time, but he
- 50:38Speaker 3: was really pinning.
- 50:39Speaker 2: The other offense back well, he was getting him out
- 50:43Speaker 2: of jams and field position matters. It's those hitting yards
- 50:46Speaker 2: that you don't often hear. And I think that, you know,
- 50:50Speaker 2: if he doesn't get elected this year, you have to
- 50:52Speaker 2: win or win that.
- 50:53Speaker 3: However, again next year he won't be as good, but
- 50:55Speaker 3: he'll get it next year based on this year.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Who knows, maybe Jordan Davis, Endoor Braiden Man and we'll
- 51:00Speaker 2: get all pro consideration. But let's flip it to the defense,
- 51:04Speaker 2: right because they've and you and I have had this
- 51:07Speaker 2: conversation after the Raiders game. I was really bullish on
- 51:10Speaker 2: the defense, and I know context is very important looking
- 51:13Speaker 2: at the opposition, but there's been moments of dominance this season.
- 51:17Speaker 2: It wasn't just a blip. It wasn't just that it
- 51:19Speaker 2: was the Raiders. I think getting someone into the mix
- 51:22Speaker 2: like a Jalen Phillips getting Noan Smith back, you're gonna
- 51:26Speaker 2: be getting Jaylen carter back Marcus Epps has settled things
- 51:28Speaker 2: down yep. Next to Red Blanket Ship, which I don't
- 51:31Speaker 2: think is talked about enough because when read Blanket Ship
- 51:34Speaker 2: is playing next to a rookie safety and Drew mccooba.
- 51:36Speaker 2: You're trying to juggle a million different things. You're not
- 51:39Speaker 2: able to play play freely. You have to account for
- 51:41Speaker 2: the rookie and making sure he's being as simon sound.
- 51:45Speaker 2: And they've also had some solid play at the second
- 51:48Speaker 2: cornerback spot from a Dori Jackson. So it seems to
- 51:51Speaker 2: me that the defense is starting to gel at the
- 51:53Speaker 2: right time it is, and they're.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Gonna have a really interesting decision to make, maybe for
- 51:59Speaker 3: the playoffs, if Andrew mccooba is ready to return, because.
- 52:04Speaker 2: I don't think he's coming back.
- 52:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I was.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Wondering that to it's probably not. An ankle fracture is
- 52:09Speaker 3: a pretty big deal.
- 52:10Speaker 2: In fact, you heard Vic van j last week when asked,
- 52:14Speaker 2: you know he's eligible to come, He's like, just because
- 52:16Speaker 2: he's eligible doesn't mean he's coming back, because he's not
- 52:18Speaker 2: coming back. Yeah. Well, even if they made it to
- 52:20Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, huh, Well maybe that might be different
- 52:23Speaker 2: because that might be like the the far end of
- 52:26Speaker 2: that timeline. But by then you've missed so much time.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Your conditioning really is, especially at that position, an issue.
- 52:34Speaker 3: And Marcus EPs has played well now you don't have
- 52:38Speaker 3: as much athleticism at safety when you have EPs and
- 52:42Speaker 3: blanket ship. I mean, that's not their calling card. And
- 52:44Speaker 3: mccoob is a really good athlete. But you've got two
- 52:47Speaker 3: of the just most savvy guys. They know how to
- 52:50Speaker 3: line up, they know where to be. They make that
- 52:53Speaker 3: you know, sometimes reminds me of like the TJ. Edwards
- 52:56Speaker 3: of Eagle safety. He's like just he may not be
- 52:59Speaker 3: the greatest athlete, he wasn't drafted, but he just knows
- 53:02Speaker 3: where to be, knows how to play the position. Someone
- 53:05Speaker 3: made this great point. It was Quentin Michael. He was
- 53:07Speaker 3: on this why It's great to be an inside the
- 53:09Speaker 3: Birds Patreon member. He did our ask an Eagle with us.
- 53:12Speaker 3: He was talking about learning how to play at different speeds,
- 53:15Speaker 3: especially at that position, and he said, unfortunately for Sidney Brown,
- 53:19Speaker 3: he's only.
- 53:20Speaker 4: Playing at one speed.
- 53:21Speaker 3: And you hope that while he's on the bench playing
- 53:23Speaker 3: special teams, he realizes that running one hundred miles per
- 53:26Speaker 3: hour at your target is not always the best way
- 53:29Speaker 3: of approaching defense, right. And Epps is a person who
- 53:34Speaker 3: may not run the fastest, but he knows when to
- 53:36Speaker 3: dial it up, when to dial it down and how
- 53:38Speaker 3: to put yourself in a position to make a play.
- 53:41Speaker 3: And Sidney Brown is still learning that.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Marcus is smart and instinctual and those are things
- 53:46Speaker 2: that Vick Vanjo has lauded him for whenever asked about Marcus.
- 53:49Speaker 2: And you're right, he's not the greatest athlete, but he
- 53:52Speaker 2: is somebody who you know he's going to be in
- 53:54Speaker 2: the right place. Yep, He's going to be fundamentally sound,
- 53:56Speaker 2: assignment sound, and that matters. That carries a lot of
- 53:59Speaker 2: weight in a Vic Vanger defense where there's a considerable
- 54:01Speaker 2: amount of responsibility placed on safeties and linebackers, and they
- 54:06Speaker 2: settle things that at safety and they settle things down
- 54:08Speaker 2: at putt returner. They're going those type of routes to
- 54:11Speaker 2: make sure that those issues don't creep up in critical moments. Yeah.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Absolutely, And you know the defense really has played well.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Now I ask you this, you got what you're trying
- 54:22Speaker 3: to win these two games. I mean, you're trying to
- 54:24Speaker 3: get you're in, but you really want to also go
- 54:26Speaker 3: into the postseason on a good note. The drop off
- 54:29Speaker 3: from the Kobe to Jihad is not Johad Campbell isn't
- 54:33Speaker 3: like bad because Johd Campbell was playing well, but Nikobe
- 54:36Speaker 3: brought a presence and a skill, especially when he blitzes
- 54:40Speaker 3: the quarterback that Jahad's still learning, and Nikobe changed games.
- 54:45Speaker 4: He was blowing up running backs.
- 54:47Speaker 3: You know, they sent Jahad on the blitz and McNichols
- 54:49Speaker 3: actually did a pretty good job in passport. The only
- 54:51Speaker 3: reason he got nab for holding on that play is
- 54:54Speaker 3: because Mario was running around the pocket and mcnile was
- 54:56Speaker 3: basically had to turn around and just tackle.
- 54:58Speaker 4: The guy right right right.
- 55:00Speaker 3: He doesn't have the he doesn't yet channeled that speed
- 55:03Speaker 3: to power on the plitz the way Nakobe does.
- 55:05Speaker 4: So I think that's a little bit of a concern
- 55:07Speaker 4: at the moment.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too. And while we're on the
- 55:10Speaker 2: subject of ni Kobe Dean man, you could argue that
- 55:13Speaker 2: the defense sort of transformed or hit another gear when
- 55:16Speaker 2: he was inserted as the starter.
- 55:18Speaker 4: I thought he could have made the Pro Bowl, and
- 55:19Speaker 4: I wouldn't have disagreed with it. He's played great.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Yeah. By the way, you see Patrick Queen he listed
- 55:24Speaker 2: his top five linebackers. He put himself at three, He
- 55:27Speaker 2: put to Kobe at five. He didn't have Zach Vaughn
- 55:29Speaker 2: on his list. That's interesting. Zach doesn't get enough respect.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I totally agree.
- 55:36Speaker 4: It came from nothing. He's not a first round pack.
- 55:37Speaker 2: I totally agree with if you look at his numbers,
- 55:39Speaker 2: and stats don't always tell the whole story. His numbers
- 55:42Speaker 2: this season, aside from maybe the force fumbles, are ahead
- 55:45Speaker 2: of what he did in his All Pro season last year.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Sachs interceptions on pays for tackling. Phenomenal player. But n
- 55:51Speaker 2: Kobe Dean is absolutely that tone setter that that defense needs,
- 55:55Speaker 2: and I think a lot of his mentality comes from
- 55:58Speaker 2: a lot of the defense's mentality comes from him. But
- 56:00Speaker 2: I think they're going to have a big role in
- 56:02Speaker 2: this game. But man, I can't say enough about the
- 56:05Speaker 2: crowd here at Chickens and Pizza Marlton, New Jersey. Thanks job, Thanks,
- 56:10Speaker 2: thanks all for the support. Hope everybody has a happy
- 56:13Speaker 2: holiday and you're listening to the Pro Football Report presented
