- 0:00Speaker 1: Mister New York marsamone. He's on sevent ten. Woo well.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin the finest columnist in America. You can read
- 0:10Speaker 1: them every Sunday and every Wednesday in the New York
- 0:13Speaker 1: Post and then go to the New York Post website.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You can read all his columns. They're all up there.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin.
- 0:18Speaker 2: How you doing, Good morning, Mark, Thank you.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hey. The Israel Day Parade went off very well yesterday.
- 0:25Speaker 1: That's good news. Uh, you got Mayor Bloomberg, you got
- 0:28Speaker 1: Mayor Adams, of course, Mayor Mom. Donnie didn't show up,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and he was seen riding a bike, and you could
- 0:35Speaker 1: tell by the way he wrote it he's never ridden
- 0:36Speaker 1: a bike before. So what was.
- 0:39Speaker 2: What's on a suit to run a bike? All right?
- 0:42Speaker 1: So what do you think the bottom lip? Oh yeah, there's.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Probably probably a tag on the bike still right for sale.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Yeah, like John Kerry's hunting clothes.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, so it's truly something. You know. The best
- 0:59Speaker 2: line I saw Marco is that he missed the parade,
- 1:03Speaker 2: but he wasn't missed. That kind of summed it up easily.
- 1:09Speaker 1: So but what do you what do you think? You think?
- 1:13Speaker 1: It also went through his head that if I do march,
- 1:15Speaker 1: they'll boo me the whole way. So that you think
- 1:17Speaker 1: that was a factor too.
- 1:20Speaker 2: If I had to read his mind, that may be
- 1:23Speaker 2: part of it. But I think, perhaps maybe even more so,
- 1:28Speaker 2: the fact that his war against Israel was a major
- 1:34Speaker 2: part in his campaign that appealed to the socialist far
- 1:39Speaker 2: less Nutts, and I think that this the anti semitism
- 1:45Speaker 2: is effectively applank in his agenda, and so I think
- 1:49Speaker 2: had he gone, he would have angered many of those
- 1:54Speaker 2: who voted for him, thinking that he was going to
- 1:57Speaker 2: be different, He wasn't going to do the same thing
- 2:02Speaker 2: that they think other mayors have done, And so I
- 2:05Speaker 2: think that may have been probably factored into his decision.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, this anti semitism that you'll infiltrated the party, and
- 2:15Speaker 1: this deep anti semitism, and a guy like mom Donnie,
- 2:18Speaker 1: how do they watch the Holocaust of October seventh and
- 2:22Speaker 1: then think Israel is the villain? How do they convince
- 2:24Speaker 1: themselves of that?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, market, that's exactly the question that I
- 2:29Speaker 2: think about a lot too, Like what what didn't you
- 2:33Speaker 2: see in October seventh that would change your mind? What's
- 2:37Speaker 2: the scene did you watch the videos. Did you watch
- 2:41Speaker 2: that stuff? Who else takes hostages and holds them in
- 2:47Speaker 2: tunnels and for months and months and years. Who else
- 2:52Speaker 2: does that? That's that's a brutal That's not war, that's terrorism.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And I think that, you know, Mamdani has kind of
- 3:02Speaker 2: in some way politically has boxed himself in to this musician.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And I don't think it's going to get better for him.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I think it's going to get worse. I think it's
- 3:14Speaker 2: one of those things that will sort of designate him
- 3:21Speaker 2: is out of the mainstream. And I think that kind
- 3:24Speaker 2: of thing over time really weighs on your popularity. It
- 3:29Speaker 2: weighs on the cooperation you get from other people in
- 3:33Speaker 2: public life. I mean, even Hoko, who is really his
- 3:38Speaker 2: biggest enabler. She went to the parade. So I think
- 3:44Speaker 2: that he's on a losing course with that. And it's it's,
- 3:48Speaker 2: as I say, it's easy to modify in a way
- 3:53Speaker 2: that makes you a better mayor, but instead he just keeps,
- 3:57Speaker 2: you know that line when you've dug yourself into a hole,
- 4:01Speaker 2: drop the shovel. He just keeps digging.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And but the difference between him and de Blasio, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Deblasio ran as a crazy left wing socialist. But once
- 4:11Speaker 1: he got in office, he basically was hiding at that
- 4:14Speaker 1: cafe in Brooklyn, didn't bother anybody.
- 4:15Speaker 2: But yeah, uh, it was too lazy to start a revolution.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So but mom, Donnie, it's not a political thing with him.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It's real hatred of the Jews of Israel and the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Jewish people, isn't it. It seems it is.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I mean and guys, I wrote on the column he
- 4:35Speaker 2: said during the campaign, I will not march, And he
- 4:39Speaker 2: also said he would arrest Prime Minision that comes to
- 4:44Speaker 2: New York on then I see see and International Criminal Court,
- 4:49Speaker 2: which in the United States does not recognized, so there's
- 4:53Speaker 2: no ground for that. So this is a boom bait
- 4:57Speaker 2: for the Bubbas. And it's a way I think of
- 5:01Speaker 2: keeping his followers engage and locked into him because there's
- 5:07Speaker 2: nowhere else to go on issues like this.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Hey, what is this thing he's now talking about pushing
- 5:13Speaker 1: this movement to get ed Kotch's name off the bridge.
- 5:17Speaker 1: They said it was mishandling the AIDS crisis, But that
- 5:19Speaker 1: doesn't pass the smell test. What is that really about?
- 5:22Speaker 1: Is that anti Semitism?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Well, there could be a tinge of that to Mark
- 5:28Speaker 2: because this is an old Villas group that hated God
- 5:32Speaker 2: for all kinds of reasons and this was one of them.
- 5:37Speaker 2: And so Mandani answered yes on the questionnaire during the campaign.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I think it would be very interesting to see if
- 5:46Speaker 2: he follows through on that. Already, Julie Mennon, the speaker
- 5:51Speaker 2: of the city Council, apparently she also answered yes, but
- 5:56Speaker 2: she told the New York Post that no, no, no, no,
- 5:59Speaker 2: I'm not for that. So it's not clear how much
- 6:03Speaker 2: weight Mamdani will attach to this answer. While he was
- 6:08Speaker 2: running and nowad he's a mayor, does he really want
- 6:11Speaker 2: to take that on. Is that something that he thinks
- 6:15Speaker 2: will help him get his agenda cross or will it
- 6:19Speaker 2: be a distraction. I think it's the ladder, But I
- 6:22Speaker 2: clearly don't have any insight into his own mind. I mean,
- 6:26Speaker 2: because if I did, I go tell him, don't do
- 6:29Speaker 2: a ninety percent of the thing you're doing.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, you know, in Los Angeles they got a
- 6:34Speaker 1: crazy left wing, ridiculous mayor screwing up the whole city.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And it looks like the opponent, Pratt is pulled ahead
- 6:41Speaker 1: of her in the real pulse slightly. Do you think
- 6:43Speaker 1: maybe we're the end of this cycle of crazy left
- 6:46Speaker 1: wing mayors.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You know, Mark, that's a wonderful way to put it.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And I certainly hope so I don't say, I can't
- 6:55Speaker 2: say I think so, but it would be great. I mean,
- 6:58Speaker 2: you look what's happened to Shaka Ago, you know, look
- 7:02Speaker 2: or look at the Boston any day, the insanity it's
- 7:06Speaker 2: going on in Boston with a left winger. And so
- 7:10Speaker 2: you see these saints and always Democrats who have gone left. Uh,
- 7:16Speaker 2: and when they get these jobs, they're not capable of
- 7:19Speaker 2: doing them. They're activists, they're not really governors in that sense.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And they try to bring this activists againda into city
- 7:30Speaker 2: hall and state houses and then get worse, dramatically worse
- 7:35Speaker 2: or citizens. That's why you're seeing this flight from all
- 7:39Speaker 2: these blue cities and blue states. It's not just New York.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It's really around the country where it's California and Los
- 7:47Speaker 2: Angeles or you know, Chicago. People leave for more seeing governments.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, Kathy Hokle doubling down on an I spanning
- 8:01Speaker 1: masks all this stuff. What do you think is gonna
- 8:02Speaker 1: happen in November? Bruce Blakeman, brilliant guy. And a very
- 8:06Speaker 1: strong candidate. What do you think will happen in November?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Look, I think right now he's got a lot of
- 8:13Speaker 2: work to do, but I think it's not beyond the
- 8:16Speaker 2: realm of the possible that he could win. I mean,
- 8:22Speaker 2: kle is not a popular governor. The left is happy
- 8:27Speaker 2: because she just does whatever they tellor do. She doesn't
- 8:31Speaker 2: really have a thought of her own. She's outsourced or
- 8:34Speaker 2: brain to the far left. And so I think that
- 8:39Speaker 2: this is the kind of moment where somebody can pierce,
- 8:44Speaker 2: you know, the wall around the government and say, look,
- 8:49Speaker 2: we can do it a lot better. And so I
- 8:52Speaker 2: think there's no shortage of issues for Blakeman to go
- 8:57Speaker 2: to work on. And I think that if you start
- 9:00Speaker 2: to see some movement in the polls in his favor
- 9:05Speaker 2: has been back and forth so far, did you see
- 9:08Speaker 2: a steady, continuing climb, then I think do you really
- 9:13Speaker 2: see the pressure on her? And then she'll have to
- 9:17Speaker 2: decide whether climb back into the leftist cocoon with Mamdani
- 9:23Speaker 2: and with the legislature, or whether she's going to try
- 9:26Speaker 2: to be a governor for everybody.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he speaking of governors, You know Andrew Cuomo now
- 9:32Speaker 1: does a radio show. I think I'm the only listener.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But if I watch the Sunday show too, I'm very grateful.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I do that too. But if you listen to
- 9:43Speaker 1: me talked about how he was a moderate Democrat, a
- 9:45Speaker 1: very moderate the governor. He talks about how this is terrible.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Nobody said anything about Biden. Everything he's guilty of, he
- 9:52Speaker 1: now denies. What kind of strategy is that.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Look, I think he made a big mistay and
- 9:58Speaker 2: it's contridates continuation of this campaign, and I think that's
- 10:03Speaker 2: why he lost. Had he, I think, been more forthcoming
- 10:08Speaker 2: about the nursing home disaster and all of the bills
- 10:13Speaker 2: that he passed that led to some of the Colonel
- 10:18Speaker 2: Justice stuff and at taxes, the electric utility issues and
- 10:23Speaker 2: you know the greenhouse gases. I mean, had he approved tracking,
- 10:28Speaker 2: for instance, New York economy would have been better and
- 10:32Speaker 2: the utility prices would have been lower. So he made
- 10:36Speaker 2: so many mistakes, but he can never own up to them,
- 10:40Speaker 2: and I think that was his ultimate failing and that's
- 10:44Speaker 2: why he did not win a campaign he should have won.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Well. Michael Goodwin great stuff. You can read his column
- 10:51Speaker 1: every Sunday and every Wednesday. In the New York Post
- 10:55Speaker 1: and you can go to New York Bus website can read
