Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_03]: And we're on.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_03]: This is three years for Karen.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm afraid to argue.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_03]: I got Simon Clancy's here.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_03]: Chris Conference not here.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_03]: We have like a scheduling issue right now.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we can't find them or he's very, very busy because we're recording a little earlier today, because I'm tired.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because Simon is tired because he had to sit through, um,
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: that Monday night game and if you should have just not seen the garbage time salmon and you would have been yeah I want a bit about half-free but like what now my age honestly I sound like my old man barking at clouds but like
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: Stay on up till 3.34 a.m. like on a Monday.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: By Wednesday and Thursday, it's just like falling asleep on the sofa is like staying up till 12 to record this and I would not be good things.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm like, Ramsey Hawks for a bit anyway, because I'm just a masochist.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a great game though.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: That's a monster game this week like that's worth that's worth that that's worth Sitting around and watching, but yeah, I completely agree with you on Sundays.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_03]: My big days are our Sundays.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: Like I watch wall to wall football And you know, I kind of curse because remember, I got to watch the dolphins, right?
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm watching them usually when they play on a one o'clock game.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: I watched them and I have red zone on another TV, right?
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: But then at four o'clock, I'm watching the games and then what I do is I start watching all the games I missed that one o'clock And then I watch the eight o'clock games a Sunday night game after all of that so I go to bed like around four o'clock in the morning anyway And I am completely useless the next day after watching all that football But yeah, this week we're going to talk about the rare and the only it's the only time Mike McDaniel has coach a meaningless game
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: meaning there are no stakes whatsoever and he's playing against well his team is playing against another team that you could accuse of quitting last week as they had their worst performance of the season that got shut out uh Burroughs only shut out of his career he was awful in that game and this is a team that and we're gonna talk about two of heavily in the first half of the show but
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: That is a team that you could absolutely point to and say, this is going to be as good as spot as you can start queen yours anywhere.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: First of all, it's at home.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be at one o'clock.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: The Bengals literally do not do anything well on defense.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: They're the 31st rank, third down defense, 24th rank pass rush, 32nd rank pass defense, they give a 5.3 yards per carry.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: They're essentially awful on defense.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: Except that, they've got arguably the second or third best corner in the league in DJ Turner.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's been absolutely outstanding, but beyond that, they've been terrible.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they've been terrible.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: So this is a soft spot for Queen yours.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_03]: The only thing that you can have going against Quinn viewers in this game is scoreboard pressure because Joe Burrow is a very, very good player and I think the last week was that's not the normal for them to to be shut out So, you know, either they're quitting or my amuse quitting and
- 3:38[SPEAKER_03]: If Miami actually comes out to play and we're going to get into this heavily in the second half of the show when we break down what Quinn viewers has to do and what Mike McDaniel is alluding to he's going to do.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_03]: What he's going to have to do essentially in in this game is he's going to have to get his team up and I'm speaking to Mike McDaniel his team to play in a game for the first time in his four-year career here.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_03]: in a game where absolutely has no stakes and we know what happens in the NFL usually when that happens.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_03]: So if his team lays down, you might have all the information you may need to pull the trigger on a move at head coach on Monday.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_03]: And we will talk about that in the second half of the show.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_03]: But in the first half of the show, we're going to talk about to a talk about a little.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like his career is over here.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_03]: He threw his last
- 4:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been saying this for a while here, it's not so much that any has deteriorated physically, it's obvious, you could almost deal with that, what you can't deal with is the deterioration of his mental gain.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_03]: his brain game as a quarterback in the NFL has just gone poof and cow crabs today on his show and I'm not going to take his take because his take is actually 1,000 percent on.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, you're going to be doing something soon with cow crabs, dreadful, in the off season and all that you talk about it right before we go to break.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_03]: But he was talking about look there and I was noticing this as well.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: That glance route, that glance rail route that we've seen two or throw two could throw that he almost punt that ball out there and it'll be on time and you could see it this year, him passing up windows, him waiting for second windows to open up.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_03]: Him just essentially just looking off his safety valves and trying to look for the deeper play.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_03]: And that's led to turnovers that's led the poor quarterback play that play that interception against the New Orleans Saints.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_03]: I still go back to it might have been the dumbest play he's made all season because they called the combination that was absolutely glorious.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's been that way all season, I don't, like I said, I don't have too many issues with him physically, although we know he's deteriorating.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's his mental game, which has made him borderline unplayable this season.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: Your thoughts, Simon.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I said it on Monday.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: I said that I didn't think you should play again.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: And he's inspiring down was this isn't a new thing.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we've been kind of slowly marching towards the end of the two at year.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think for 18 months now actually we've been 12 and 13 in his last 25 stars to a nine against teams with winning records in that span.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, you know, I said it four five weeks ago that he was playing like a bottom
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: and caught a back in the league.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I think now he's a bottom three or four caught a back in the league.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, might have done it to himself.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: The team needs convicted caught back play.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: And we just haven't had it.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you go back to 2023 when it was, you know, in the running for MVP.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I just think in the running for MVP, that we came, he was in the running for the MVP award in week four in 15.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: And he was confident.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: He was convicted in terms of the scheme and the system or what he was doing.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: He would just, you know,
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: point fire, point fire, back of his drop, boom away, it would go, you know, it didn't matter what defenses try to do, you ran that RPO attack just brilliantly.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a perfect marriage, I think, of kind of anticipation and trust between head coach and quarterback.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: And and I think when he was operating on time at that point, there was very few callbacks that could match him in that year of 2023.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's just to
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know what he's just a shell of that now, you know, he hesitant when he should be aggressive, he's reckless when he should be cautious.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I was looking at the early on, it's success rate on Thursday, 15 or more AR just 39% which is the lowest since his rookie year, it's way below the league average.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: He's got 30% success rate when he holds the ball for more than three seconds that this season, which is the worst of his career and nine points.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: below the league average.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're not creating explosives anymore.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: And you can point to, you know, Tariq Hill being injured, but he doesn't trust any of the receivers beyond jail and what are you know, I'm going to eat Washington is treated like a sort of a gadget player.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: He never throws a ball to Nick Westbrook, a Q&A.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we've got the running game that Dan Marino and Ryan Tanner Hill were crying out for and yet, you know,
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: would just not be able to do anything and I would have significant doubts about whether anybody would view it now as a long-term start and moving forward.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that will be.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: He will be.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's the right decision and whether that, to me, the most interesting thing is what happens in the off season.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: Who is going to be the general manager?
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Who is going to be the head coach?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: And those two, I think a lot of that goes hand in hand.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't see
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: Staying as head coach, I just think there's too many things beyond, you know, had somebody miss me on Twitter today and say, yeah, but, you know, he's proved that he's can develop a court of acne, you know, now he needs to develop his own court of acne.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'd argue, you know, he was a fifth overall pick in the draft, you know,
- 9:15[SPEAKER_03]: Well, there's something starting to up to you, Simon, but there's something in city that's going on out there when you know who his friends in the media are, they're the ones that keep talking about how great Mike McDaniel is.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_03]: And since Monday, it's just been a drumbeat, almost like a campaign, like
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: Can you believe that Mike McDaniel turned to a tongue about Aloha into an awesome quarterback for two seasons?
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: Can you believe that he did that?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: I would contend that two was awesome for two seasons because two of made himself awesome for two seasons.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_03]: Not because Mike McDaniel did anything special.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know how you feel about that.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's easily because we kind of know where it's coming from.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_03]: I know you're trying to save your skin, but you don't have to bring and pull other people down with you.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_03]: to save your own skin.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know what you think about that.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_03]: If he's expediting his out of here because of that, or I can't do it at doing that.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of get it and it's clear that it's been a divorce between the Court of Ak and the Head Coach and that's obvious and this happened well before this situation and I think Daniel probably saw the decline in the off season in the summer and and that's carried over into the
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: into the regular season.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, there was no more bigger to a tongue out like Viola fan, there was no more bigger to a tongue out like a cheerleader than me when he came out when we drafted him, I was actually ecstatic.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: But unfortunately, I think we reflect on this five or six years as completely wasted and really not much better than mediocre when you add it all into the round rather than just pick the highlights, you know.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: Play small in big moments, that is undeniable, couldn't win big games, undeniable, couldn't win big games on the road, absolutely undeniable, couldn't play in cold weather, absolutely undeniable, couldn't put the team on his back when we needed in most absolute undeniable.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: And unfortunately, those are the things that we're going to carry into the next rebuild, which will happen probably sooner rather than later.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think now the biggest decision is to the dolphin swallow that massive 99 million.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: Do they keep them around?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I can't see for a single second that if McDonald's stays tongue of I love a stays.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't see that Would a new general manager knew he coach actually think they could resurrect him?
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: I just think you look at this the last 18 months and it's not just this season But you look at last 18 months tape and you just think I'm not sure what there is to resurrect physically mentally.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned the mental thing
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and that even translates to some of the off-field things that we've seen, you know, whether that was off-field in the off-season, whether that's been some of the strange things he said at the podium, that I mean, I criticize him on Monday for saying that he came out, so that he hadn't prepared his receivers in the eight days that he had, and I just think, why would you say that?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then even the optically, you know, it's not a criticism per se, but optically, it looks terrible when you're still in the field, you know, Accra sure after the game and you're yucking it up with with with with Jane and Ramsey and you bent over double laughing When you've got fans who've traveled all the way to Pittsburgh from Miami and you've just laid over and been hammered by the Steelers And knocked out of the playoffs.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: a good look.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if you're a six year veteran, as JJ Watson, you're a six year veteran, the leader of the team, the highest pay plan of the team, that that means a really, really bad look.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I just don't understand why you wouldn't do that.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I look.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: We're a popular podcast, we have an exceedingly big audience.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't want to come out and say that some of the things that I'm thinking and some of the things that you're probably thinking and Chris is probably thinking and some of our audience are thinking in terms of some of the stuff that I mean, I don't want to say the words or the initials.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: And whether or not there's the concussions of how to really signify for going to affect, I don't know.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: And it's certainly not my place to start saying stuff like that.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: But I just worry about that.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: And where he goes from here, who knows, I think, you know, trading him.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, you could trade him, but I saw Shield Capidius say yesterday of the ringer, I saw him say that, you know, I could envisage a situation or scenario where, for example, my amy traded him to 18 and gave away a second round pick, along with to us.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: And the significant amount of his salary, because the biggest thing is the salary.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, no team is going to want to trade for God.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to pay 51 million.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: How about this?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_03]: How about this?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_03]: Put lock Nick Westbrook, a key name in a broom closet somewhere and use the for the fourth rompick you're going to keep and use that to get out from
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think there's a team like Detroit, for example, who doesn't need to start, they've got a top 10 class court back in Jared Goff.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: But as a backup for a team with Super Bowl ambitions, if Jared ever got hurt, they play indoors, half a season, that's a plus.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: They play, they've got a great offensive line, big plus for an MOBA quarterback.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: They've got speedy-wide receivers, they've got a great running game, yet two of their division rivals play outside, Green Bay and Chicago, but that's only two games a season, minutes other play inside.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: I could see a scenario where you gave a fourth round pick to the Lions and to any greatest chunk of that money and you got a six rounder in return, something like that, just to get it off the books.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't see a scenario where you're going to trade away to a third round or in a fifth round or the Rantan and we'll trade it with fourth and whatever it was six or whatever we got for Canada that I just that's just not a scenario given the contract yeah and that's my yeah and that's for our quarterback situation I think it's really fascinating
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: No GM is going to come out and say, oh, no GM is going to sit in a interview with Stephen Ross and say, you know what, that caught about class of 2027 contains archmaning, it contains Lenora Sellers, it contains Sam Levitt, it contains Julian Sayon, it contains all these names.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a caught about class for the ages, right?
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody's going to say, you know what?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: We should start the worst possible caught back.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: We should.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: could find in 2026.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: So absolutely guarantee ourselves of the number one overall peak to choose from these quarterbacks.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: Do not get out bidlight we did in 2020 when we ended up with two at one we could have had Joe Barrow.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Do not fire yourself in that situation.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody, no GM is going to come into that with that mindset.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: But the flip side is that whilst they might not say it in an interview,
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: they have to think it, okay?
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: So at what point do you think to yourself, am I gonna find the worst possible start in court, man?
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: That essentially doesn't flagulate he break NFL rules for clear tanking.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: Or do I find a Mark as Mario, who I can probably win five or six games with, or do I just give the reins to Queen Uas?
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's what they're trying to see.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're trying to see whether or not, it's clear, I'm like Daniel likes him.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like we, you know, there's the famous photo that we picked up on.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, the, the pro day when he was looking at supposed to be looking at Xavier worthy in AD Mitchell and there's about Daniel standing three yards away from Queen U as can't take his eyes off him.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: So we know he likes him.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and maybe the kid shows something, you know, he was a, you know, the highest number one recruit in the country went to a higher state, went to Texas, played pretty well at times, was injured a lot last year.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and we'll see what he's got over the next three games, the Bengals, the, the, the, the back of the, and the Patriots and, you know, what if you
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying he will, but what if he wins three games?
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: You probably have to say he's got a leg up to be the starter in 2020.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: If he wins three games and he plays well, he's the starter in 2020.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what if he wins two games and plays well?
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: What if he wins one game, but plays well in all three games?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think he probably got to say, you know what?
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: This is our starting quarter back in 2020, six.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: And you give him a year.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: And you see what you've got with it.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: And if in the end of 2026, it doesn't work out.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: Then you are, you're in a great situation to move on because you've got this great draft.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: And that, to me, almost seems better than trying to, you know, try to pick up a Malik Willis who I really like as a really good number two or a Mario to and getting five, six wins.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: You're not gonna make the play, I'll get five, six wins and pick in 11.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: and missing out on saying and manning and you know, sellers trains on or that the kid at Duke mincer or Josh Hoover or Mr. Maker or whoever it is, like that to me makes it.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: It won't make a lot of sense to some fans and I totally get that.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: I've totally done the sample, but to me there's a bigger picture, which is you've got to find a quarterback at some point, you know, and it looks like we're not going to get close to Fernando Mendoza.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: If Dante more comes out, you're not going to get close to more.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to find a guy and I don't think it's going to be in 2026, but it looks like 2027 is going to be massive.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a really interesting, nobody's going to sit in that in that meeting with Steve Ross and go, yes, Steve, I think we should manage a decline so that we end up with an arts manning.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: But I sure as shit would be thinking it, you know, so yeah.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, although like like I like I'm I always say the same thing.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, like you want to have the proper framework for your rookie quarterback when he comes in and usually when you take man, it's it's tough.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: You don't have to go there far.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_03]: The team that successfully tanked for Joe Burrell got Joe Burrell and Joe Burrell got injured as a rookie because they could have protect them at all.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm, if I'm the Dolphin's GN, I am looking at drafting 10th 11th 12th wherever he end up and I'm looking at securing four positions and I'm looking at the, the kid at Miami
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: or if I'm playing in the right guard, then I'm going back with the Blake Millicula Clemson or I-Nature at Arizona State or Caleb Tinnon, Northwestern, and securing that right side of the offensive line.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: So that we enter 2020 seven with Paul Savanaya, Brewer, and two young studs were accused of had a year to gel together, so that offensive line is good.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: and then I'm looking at corners because, you know, Russell has been excellent.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: Jack Jones has been up and down, but he's been pretty good the last month, but they're both free agents, okay?
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's nobody coming under the ranks, you know, stormed up, he's stormed up, really starting this league.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_02]: Jason Marshall, maybe, and I know Kate is coming back, but obviously he's kind of back of a serious injury.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: You need some corners, there's some good corners in this draft.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: Malik has been treated like a like a gadget guy so that we need big receivers on the outside.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: Tyreak probably isn't coming back.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great receiver.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: I love the depth in this receiver class and it's rushers.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you can be sitting there at 8 9 10 11 12 and David Bailey falls into your lap that the Texas Tech Russia.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe people get cold on Ruben Bay and he falls into your lap, you know, because we can't rush the pass.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably gone.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: Chop Robinson has really struggled.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: Jude on a big gun.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have any other younger guys coming through.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: We really need help on the edge as well.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: To me, I think that's where you look.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: You look at securing those four positions.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: and you, and that's what you do and you build some depth because this team has no depth whatsoever, especially in those critical positions and you build that depth and then in 2020-27 which is going to be an all-timeer draft as we sit here right now and then you just smash the doors off with you bringing your call back.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: and you do whatever it takes to fill the rest of those positions.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_03]: And you sell out and you sell out for that quarterback in 2027.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: You don't have step it.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_03]: You don't just sit there.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like let's say you bring back most of this roster and you think around the edges and you have a decent draft and the team, you know, stumbles around and wins seven games.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: And now you're drifting, now you're drifting into, you know, the 12s, the 13s, the 14th pick.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_03]: have the conviction to pick your quarterback and set up for him, three, three first rom picks if you have to to get your guy.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_03]: Don't just sit there and say, well, you know, we're picking 13th.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to take the eighth quarterback on off the board.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, no, don't do that.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I worked out for Denver, you know, and everybody keeps mentioning Denver.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Denver actually built the framework around a quarterback, and it took the sixth quarterback.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: And we still don't know if bone nicks is any good, but my god that he looked great last week.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: There's a number one seed, and they took a horrific cap it by cutting Russell Wilson.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: So the examples, the examples are there.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: The examples are there to have success.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, last thing, and you know, I don't want to get into the, you know, and turn the podcast into the, what did I hear something somebody say?
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: the dispar housewives of football, you know, but we kind of know that Tua has gone under and I'm not going to mention them.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_03]: They're out there.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's gone under some changes in his personal life very recently.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_03]: Guy, the guy doesn't have an agent right now.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, okay?
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: So, and that's verifiable, okay?
- 23:04[SPEAKER_03]: You verify that with the NFL P.A., all right?
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't have an agent,
- 23:09[SPEAKER_03]: So he's going to have to hire an agent, he's going to have to go under some changes.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_03]: Is this career over, man, I think it's 50-50 because it's going to have to come from him.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to have to do serious work on his body, work with quarterback coaches and rebuild himself because, and I hate to say this because it's the worst indictment you can have of an athlete.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_03]: some guys treat that payday as a destination and others treat it as a jumping off point, you know?
- 23:43[SPEAKER_03]: Others treat it as, okay, now I have to work, I have to live up to this money.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I want to prove I'm worth the fifty four million dollars a year other people are like I got my fifty four million I don't have to prove shit You know, yeah, and unfortunately it looks one way and it doesn't look the other if he wants that career if he wants that long career obviously He's gonna have to resurrect himself.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's gonna be opportunities Patrick Mahold returns in October
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: can Andy read, make it through six games with Tua.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: I just tell Tua to a two-man.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: Can you get us to four and two?
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: Can you get us to three and three before Patrick Mahomes takes over?
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: Kansas City is an opportunity.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's not cold in Kansas City in September and October, okay?
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: In inapolis, you know, the Raiders that's a little rough or spot because right there you're asking for
- 24:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they don't have, they don't have a lot of help around you.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: They're off its lines, not very good.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: They don't have receivers.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's in slow.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: They have a tight end and they have a running back.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's the team.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know if that's what you want to do.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: But the colds and the chiefs, those are attractive spots.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_03]: Minnesota.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jake Jamacarty is probably has that job.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_03]: So I wouldn't think that Minnesota is an option.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, there's a cut.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to have opportunities, but it's going to have to come from him.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to have to come from him.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's got to rebuild his game.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's got to rebuild his body.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to have to come from him.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: And he's going to have to prove that getting paid wasn't a destination.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_03]: It was a jumping out point.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_03]: Because as of right now, it looks like it was a destination for him.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: What's really interesting is that, you know, over the years and we've advocated that on this show, we've advocated that, you know, that those four kind of cornerstone positions, right, caught about, got out of the court of that, left tackle, you got out of the left tackle, you got out of the big corner, and you've got to have the court of that, those four positions.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: And in this game, the center, you need a center in this game.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: But just generally, they're the four that we've always talked about, right?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: You look at the best teams in the league, and I would say that, I mean, to me, the AOC
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: And as you can see, it preview game looks like tonight.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's Seattle and the ramp.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: You look at the ramp, you know, Matthew Staff and obviously, you know, MVP candidate this year, Hall of Famer, one of the Super Bowl, still got the arm brilliant, you know, great, great corner.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: A great quarterback, I mean, you wouldn't necessarily say, they've obviously got the, they've obviously got
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know, good, really good past rushes, you know, in terms of verse and baron yarn and, you know, verse may be hasn't played quite as well this year, but you still have, you know, an absolute physical force, but you wouldn't necessarily say that a lyric Jackson is an absolute nailed on top.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: 7 or 8 left tackle in this league and you know, in terms of corners, you look at the corners and again, you kind of go, okay, well, you know.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: probed your hand and Forbes and Kendrick and, you know, a color with a spoon with a spoon with a decent player, but you're not like, well, as you look at Denver, for example, Garret bowls, all pro type, left tackle, and what a resurrection for him.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: Pat Satan, they got the two guys on the edge, Benito's an actually starting and the Ohio State kid and the other side, and then Nick's is kind of like, okay, what is he going to be?
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: Can you really go deep in the
- 26:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you know, you'd say that Patrick Paul is a cornerstone that you can build around.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have the corner back.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have the call back.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: To me, Trump Robinson is everything I thought he was going to be a Penn State.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: I was worried about him at Penn State and I, you know, he showed flashes, but he hasn't yet developed into somebody that you would think is anything other than a sub-packaged past Russia and at the moment he can't get home even against right tackles and not even great right tackles.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I think for the dolphins what they've got to try and do is really load up on those, you know,
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: But also I think you can win without absolutely selling the whole farm to make sure that you've nailed those positions.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think that having two or three of those positions now is good enough because you can get by.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: Teams are getting by with really good depth, like look at the Rams, for example.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: Defensively, the Rams best player this year.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: Without question and it's probably going to be an all pro is an undrafted free agent lineback from Colorado called Nate Landman, you know, and if he's not a first team or pro, he'll be a second team all pro.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: He's an absolutely like town season, Sean Dolak, the kid from Buffalo, they drive from the six round.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's had a really big, he's had a big, he's had a big, he can curl.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: three agent safety day picked up from Washington, really good player.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's finding the mesh, finding the right on a combination, like at receiver, you know, Devont Adams goes down, Adams doesn't play over here in London, can art a month field, receiver I loved, sent round a 240 second pick, came in, and had a cup of touch down catches, you know, it's finding that mix.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the Rams have been able to do that heavy personnel of three tight ends with Davis Allen and Ferguson and Parkinson and Nick Vanette and, you know, rolling and we've done it with brunch skill and Julian Hill but haven't quite stuck to it and we honestly don't have a caught back the same way as Stafford does, but I just think we've got to find a bit more quality debt to be able to say, you know, what these three safety's that they're absolutely fine like, whereas the guys we've got, they feel like liability's in situations and I just think finding that and building that roster and I think,
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: that's been the problem of draft wise from 2020 to 2025 is that we haven't really done a good enough job and those back-to-back drafts where we ended up with as you come and Tindall and the corner from South Carolina, the second round.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we just didn't do enough to fill the bottom half of that roster.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's what the Nick, that's a huge challenge.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there are many huge challenges for the next year, but that is as big a challenge as the result there.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they got five picks in the first two days and I would I would try to use a couple of those picks to add more if you can like you're going to have to you can have to do this to drive look like there is no free agency until twenty twenty seven so so fans that are listening to this and and I know we got our biggest numbers as soon as free agency rolls around and it's fun you know it it's fun because you're essentially just you know you're playing mad at you're adding a player map we need a right card so we'll just buy a right card and we'll just plug them in.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_03]: There is no free agency this year.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: Besides, you know, the obligatory first, I mean, when you're when you're deals that you can hand out.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: I said on a few weeks ago, and we were kind of all generally in the agreement that 2028 slash 2029 is really, really stupid going to be the time where the dolphins are relevant again because it's going to take time.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_03]: As far as to make a run to make a run at absolutely anything, 2027, you could look at it and say, you know, we're exciting, you know, we could, you know, we could, you know, we could be a playoff 2027, you know, the offensive line is fixed, you know,
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: Twenty twenty seven you got a quarter back you might not start straight away, but it's aren't Manning and you know, he's big.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's physical.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: He can throw the hell out of it.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: He can move the pocket and run You know, he could be the he could be the guy.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: We added this kid.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_03]: You could be a six You would be a six seven seed and you never know, you know, maybe you want to game, you know, or something like that You know, but realistically, yeah, it's it's two years down the road When you could start thinking about doing anything else because you really have no mobility
- 31:12[SPEAKER_03]: 2028 you're a little bit cleaner off of all of this.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_03]: We're gonna go to break and when we come back we're gonna talk about this game and the college football playoff mostly about two games because there's two games on in the slate that are not appetizing let's just say.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_03]: All right, but we do get to see Dante more play and that's always a lot of fun.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_03]: But first let me say about underdog fantasy football season isn't full swing headed toward the playoffs
- 31:40[SPEAKER_03]: and play non-undog is never been easier.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_03]: Just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like touchdowns receiving yards, interceptions, and more.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_03]: Get your picks right and you could win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_03]: Now, for this game on on Sunday, when you were just going to have some numbers out there, there's going to be one that I actually do like.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't seen the number, I believe it's at 179 for passing yards.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: I actually like the higher on that and I'll tell you why.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_03]: If, look, you're essentially just making a gamble, right?
- 32:12[SPEAKER_03]: If the dolphins actually do quit on the season, they're going to give up points to Joe Burrow on company.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_03]: And if they give up points to Joe Burrow on company, there's going to be ample garbage time for when you're just to get a lot of passing yards.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_03]: And the other one that I do like is 0.5 higher on an intersection.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: He's a rookie, you know?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: Things happen for a rookie and a quarterback.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_03]: So those are the two plays that I kind of like per Sunday.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: download the app today and use the promo code three yards to score 75 dollars in bonus entries when you play your first five dollars.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_03]: That's the promo code three yards.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: The number three yards.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: Underdog make picks when money be 18 plus 19 plus an Alabama Nebraska 19 plus in Colorado for some games tournament plus an Arizona Massachusetts and Virginia and present in a state where underdog fantasy operates.

- 33:26[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I was just getting a text right there, not ball from related, but interesting nonetheless.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, this game, look, there's a lot of ways and the, I actually do find the game fascinating because at first I was like, okay, they're playing out the string, but then I'm going to wait a minute.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: They're playing out the string.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_03]: How do they play out the string?
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: If this team goes out there, and absolutely just lays an egg.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just say, they don't compete.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: They lose by three touchdowns, okay?
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think you have all the information you needed, right?
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: If they get blown out, my Daniel's done.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: If they compete and they win and look at it, I hate to just say, win or you're fired, but when are you fired?
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 34:16[SPEAKER_03]: I hate to do that, but it's kind of the fact this team, the Bengals, my God.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: Thankless first of all, I have a wars record.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, they have an elite quarterback.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: Their elite quarterback is openly talking to the media about, maybe I'm not here in a year or two, you know?
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, very interspective about, I don't know if I like football anymore.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have my joy, very reminiscent of Jimmy Butler.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_03]: The team looked absolutely garbage against the ravens, a team that they had beaten with inspired play two weeks prior, so they're quitting.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_03]: We've established that.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_03]: you can't be a team that's essentially quitting at home when you're likely a favorite.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know, I think we're pretty much done here.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think would be the way I would look at it.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: How do you look at the results of this game for Mike McDaniel, Simon?
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think if he loses comfortably or by two touchdowns, I think he's done, and look, the Bengals are an explosive team, you know, offensively, march ace to Higgins, you know, Mike Kassicki coming back, Joe Barrow, you know, I absolutely love, but for the dolphins, I think it's just got to be a case of running the ball running the ball, running the ball, you know, it's a defense that isn't good against the run.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: and I think Mike Medano should call the game he should have called on Monday night against the Steelers, especially with you as a quarterback, wouldn't surprise me if he play action on the first down, first throw and just tries to bomb it away deep, but then I would be going back to what we do against Washington, those, those off-tackle runs that we then, it inexplicably stop running in the second quarter when we picked up 10 yards of carry in the first quarter.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I would be doing
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: a volley Gordon end of Jayden right until they can stop us and if they can't stop doesn't keep running it, you know, and if Queen U is only over as of all 15 times and we run for 250 yards, nobody's going to complain.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: But what they don't want to get into situation is where Barrow and Chase and Higgins are up by three touchdowns and then you know you've got to say to poor Queen U is, you just got to throw it to get to get us back in this game.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: I would try and control the clock, you know,
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: run in the ball, let's get a chance, some big numbers, let's get Gordon and Ryan, you know, the fact that Jane and Ryan won carry against the series when he had 2447 the week before it was inexplicable to me.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: And even though I won carry, and it kind of bothered me, that won carry, it was a belly.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_03]: He smacked right into a linebacker and the linebacker you could see was jard.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: You could tell that J. Lorraine was actually charged up for the game, and they just put on my nice, the rest of the game.
- 36:59[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: It was crazy.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Crazy.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Just get that perimeter run game going, and that to me is that it is the most important thing.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I want to see.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: And to me, that's how you win the game.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to have Quinn dropping back and throwing 40 times.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: That seems ridiculous to me, but it...
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: We said it a few weeks ago.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: Mike McGang who goes to him to, he might save his job.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: If he gets blown out here, I'll be getting blown out and embarrassed on Monday night, especially at the end of the game when he got loads of people all over social media, going, you know, what is happening with slow, hurry up offence, the calling timeouts that weren't even there, like they're, they're, they're from Michigan and the famous, the final four, all that sort of stuff.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, what are we, what are we doing?
- 37:43[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's funny that you mentioned that you never lived that down.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_03]: Chris Weber is in the the basketball Hall of Fame Simon.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_03]: He's most known for calling a timeout that they didn't have and getting a penalty in a final four game.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_03]: In the next little championship game, actually, against the Carolina.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's what he's known for and the guys in the Hall of Fame.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: Because then it wasn't, it didn't that result in a technical, then set up.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it resulted in a technical, which ended up being one free throw.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_03]: That's one point.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_03]: They lost a game by a point.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: Crazy.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's insane.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: I would say run in the bull.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: Dominate your run game.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, people keep saying you're not tough.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the opportunity to show you a tough.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is the one a clock game in the sunshine.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: But Daniel loves those one a clock sunshine game.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: So go out and punch somebody in the mouth.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, get around Joe Barrow, you know, let's get resolved Douglas playing well, you know, Chase and Higgins having a great year's, but they're unbelievable players and might just secure coming with a point to prove, but, you know, I think we can, you know, matriculate the ball down the field as somebody famously once said, you know, Hank Strandon.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, good on Hank Strandon.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: Let's, you know, let's control the, let's control the line of scrimmage.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_03]: Very famously, obviously, now we know who Zach Wilson's pick was.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_03]: Who's uh, that's that's bevel.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_03]: That was Chris Greer.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's obvious.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_03]: Because he was bypassed.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_03]: And he seems actually like, you know, confused by being passed over for Queen yours.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_03]: But that's Mike McDaniel's boy.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_03]: Are we going to hold when you were to play these last three games against Mike McDaniels?
- 39:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's Mike McDaniel.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, this is his evaluation.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, if you were to get out for us, though, this McDaniels got out in many regards.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's played his final card, which is, well, you know,
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: You know, two has done so badly and we're out of the playoff.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, this is an evaluation process of our quarterback that we drafted.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: And if he looks even remotely good, but Daniel comes out this with a shiny little pin badge and keeps his job potentially.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: Now I think it's a start.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: again, you can also turn around and go, well, you know, it was a sense for our people.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: What would you expect?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: I do think it's a little bit of a gap, but I do think it's sensible to see the kid play, but you know, I certainly might have done it as a shrewd man.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: I certainly would think he'd be going into any conversations with the champ Kelly and Steve Ross and Tom Garfield, and say, look, you know, two who wasn't here, so we had to give the other guy a go.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: The fact we went on three, you know,
- 40:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, one of my favorite, one of my favorite scenes ever and any sports movie ever was in money ball when Billy being is sitting with his owner.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: And and and and his owner's like, you know, well, you know, it was a tough loss, you know, the playoffs, but you're going to get out there with your guys and you're going to rebuild this team and we're going to be back.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be right back at it next year and we're going to be just as good and Billy being looks at his owner in his face if you remember you remember the scene, right Simon.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: Billy Bean, played by bri pit, looks at his owner and says we're not going to be better next year.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_03]: And he tries to explain what it's saying to him, look, we're losing a lot of talent.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to be better.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I wonder what conversation Stephen Ross had with Chris Greer and Mike McDaniel.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_03]: They're had to have been some promises made, right?
- 41:20[SPEAKER_03]: Stephen Ross had to have asked these two guys before the season.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_03]: What kind of team do we have?
- 41:25[SPEAKER_03]: There's no way Chris Cruz out there telling him we're going to win 12 and we have a Super Bowl shot.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_03]: No he has to tell him something right and I wonder if that comes into play at the end of the season.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_03]: Did they tell him we could win nine games, you know.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_03]: Remember that Chris Square was saying this is a reset.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_03]: This is a soft reset.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_03]: Was he telling him can we win nine games?
- 41:44[SPEAKER_03]: We could win nine games and if everything breaks our way we might be a playoff team.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: did he do that?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder what those conversations entailed, right?
- 41:54[SPEAKER_03]: Because that has to play a part in the final evaluation here.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_03]: Because Stephen Ross has to be sick of being lied to, right?
- 42:01[SPEAKER_03]: At some point.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_03]: Let's pick this game.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: Man, I don't know.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_03]: Do they quit?
- 42:08[SPEAKER_03]: look, if they don't quit, I think they have the framework to keep it close.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that though, I think we'll split the baby.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's still Joe Burrow.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_03]: And man, are they really, are they really in quitting mode in Cincinnati?
- 42:21[SPEAKER_03]: Joe Burrow is going to play.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_03]: You got Chase, he got Higgins, the second he's coming back, revenge game.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_03]: Man, you gotta think that, they're gonna have a little bit of pride, they're gonna play well.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna split the baby, and I'm gonna say that.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_03]: Miami loses.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: But, my new, the Bengals have not allowed less than 24 points since week one.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: So everybody scored 24 points.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm gonna split the baby.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's often it's lose 27, 24, and we don't know nothing.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_03]: But, not Monday, because when yours looks just as good, which is the most Miami thing ever, right Simon?
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: If the school's waiting for a port, he probably would have done it a half decent job.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, although everybody scored 24 points.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_03]: They average giving up 31 again.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so I'm going to split the baby and we will know nothing on Monday.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_03]: They lose 27 24.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: Your thoughts.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say bangles 20 dolphins 10.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so you're not splitting the baby.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_03]: You're not.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to bite you out with a popcorn.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're like, you're like, okay, this is going to be calamitous on Monday.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_03]: Or even Monday, Sunday afternoon.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_02]: I just think, I just think, I might be wrong.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_02]: I might be wrong.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: I just think there's a lot.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: They've got a lot on offense.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: They can get that rolling.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think we have the, I don't think we have the players to necessarily cause borrow a lot of problems in the pocket because that past rush is very good.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: The interior pass rush, but when Aaron Rogers can sit there with his pipe and slippers on Monday night and we can't get home.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_02]: That which is certainly, we've got that Bengals got significantly better receiving group.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_02]: If the wrong game gets going and my Daniel's calls the game he should've done, I think it would be closer because they can control the clock.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, but I just don't trust him to do that.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: If Adrian runs for 150 yards of dolphins win.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, a very interesting thing that was on NFL either talking about Aaron Rogers and Aaron Rogers said that this is very likely his last season, but it also was revealed that the Steelers, even though, you know, they like what they've gotten from Aaron Rogers this year, they will not retain him for a second season.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_03]: So they're going to be looking for a quarterback now.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what that means for you.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, does that mean that our our quarterback is going to be in play there?
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's cold weather, no chance.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_03]: But what about Aaron Rogers as a Miami Dolphin for one year?
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I can't see that either.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's Miami.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's a great place.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_03]: The retire.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: It'll better check it.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_02]: Head coach and Aaron Rogers a call of act.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_03]: And he gets to throw to jail in water.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_03]: He has Devon HN in the back field.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's not hopeless.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_03]: Patrick Paul protecting his blind side.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_03]: A bunch of draft picks coming in.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know, not crazy.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's not crazy.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_03]: All right, call the football playoff.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_03]: Kianta Scott returning for the Miami Hurricanes PFF's number one rated defensive back in all of college football six feet 200 pounds It's gonna be a draft pick man.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_03]: I would pick him for the Miami Dolphins in a heartbeat.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_03]: He's not a perimeter guy.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna be in up I think exclusively slot guy in the NFL, which means if you could get him early day three He's just a fabulous player.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_03]: He's returning for this game.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_03]: Miami Dolphins.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean the Miami Hurricanes are completely healthy for Texas A&M
- 45:40[SPEAKER_03]: We'll pick that one second.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_03]: Oklahoma, Alabama, kind of confused.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm just going to go with the team that's not limping to the finish line.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_03]: Oklahoma in a snoozer, 1916.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_03]: Your thoughts?
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm going to say Alabama won't lose twice to Oklahoma.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think Alabama win, even though it's an average Alabama team, and then I think they'll get smoked by Indiana in the quarter finals.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and now we move on to the main event.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to pick Oregon, James Madison, who cares?
- 46:11[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm tuning in to that one just to watch Stanteymor.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_03]: And to lane Ole Miss, come on.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_03]: We saw it once already.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_03]: And you're going to see the same thing.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_03]: So nobody cares about those two games.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_03]: Miami, Texas, and M.A.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_03]: at College Station, hurricanes completely healthy.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_03]: They're getting everybody back.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: O.J.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_03]: for a reek is coming back.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_03]: King, I think Scott.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_03]: Again, PFF's number one rated defensive back.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_03]: Coming back for the hurricanes.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to be completely healthy.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_03]: CJ Daniels is back, completely healthy team.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: Texas A&M, that passing game.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_03]: They're past rush, cash is howl.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: I like Miami.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think that they're just, and I am, as you can tell, OK?
- 46:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a biased observer here, but I think my name is really talented man.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_03]: They have no weaknesses when, and I don't say that, you know, arrogantly, Carson Bexon is game and he's on schedule.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: This team has no weakness.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_03]: Take a run the football.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: they're the past protection, which this is an insane step, by the way.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_03]: Their pressure rate measured again by PFF is 14.6%.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: The next best offensive line, the, you know, past blocking is Ole Miss is for Tristan Chambliss, and Trinidad Chambliss, and it's at 20.2%.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_03]: So it's almost a 6% difference.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_03]: The offensive line is good, they shouldn't utilize, catches how the defense is great.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: Two first run defense events, but it won't be easy, but they win by a touchdown.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'll say 31-24 Miami in college station.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think TechSan and when I'm excited to see the the wheel hill against Malachi Tony matchup.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_02]: I love CJ Daniels this and good.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: I just think I just think TechSan and we just got too many good players.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think howl isn't is a monster.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think touring York, the linebacker was really, really good, really underrated per beer, a good second day draft pick.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if the callback can get going with KC Concepts
- 48:29[SPEAKER_02]: with, I was going to say, Laby on Bell, Laby on Moss, I think they probably just have enough to beat Miami.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think Daniels and Tony, I love, I think they're really good players, but I just think that's an NFL defense.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of good players, good Texas A&M players on that defense.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: I know obviously Mesodore and Bane are really good, but I just think there's probably just a little bit too much for A&M, but I think it'll be the game of the weekend as it were.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you got a score.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, I think it'd be high score in 31, 28.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_02]: The Aggies.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_02]: I hope it'll have on because maybe we just get some over the line.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_03]: But wait, any thoughts on the hurricane secondary guys that are going to be available in the draft to Kobe Thomas and the auntie Scott to heavy hitters, big guys in secondary.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like Scott.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a good player.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's obviously draftable.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure if I've done him yet.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: I should just look into it.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think you've done him.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_02]: uh oh yeah have you uh so he was at snow wasn't the junior the jico guy um yeah i think he's uh i think he's a good player i think he's a he's probably a slot
- 49:40[SPEAKER_02]: might be an outside guy.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a slot.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_02]: I like what he does as a blitzer.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I think he's a good tackle.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_02]: He plays fast.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's versatile.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's probably a late day to early day three guy.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's going to be a really good special team player as well.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I like him bull production isn't amazing, but he's going to add some serious judicial special teams both as maybe as a gunner.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 50:06[SPEAKER_02]: the SEC in Punctone, the Irish in 2023, when it was open, so yeah.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun and Malachi Tony, I don't know, I don't know what else to say about him, he is just, by the way, do you know that Malachi Tony has the distinction of not having dropped a pass this year?
- 50:27[SPEAKER_02]: And he's laid.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, he could do it all.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_03]: He could do all.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's thrown six passes this year and he has four completions and three touchdowns.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, he does it all.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_03]: He does it all and trust me.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to put the ball on his hands a lot on Saturday It's going to be a lot of fun and on Monday we will talk maybe we talk about both of it because maybe we have a rematch of the festival
- 50:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, I mean, I caught one of games, Ohio State, Miami, slash tech say them, Georgia Ole Miss, Indiana Alabama, Texas Tech Oregon, and that's going to be, yeah, I mean, that's going to be unbelievable.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_03]: So, but wait, before the brackets get going, do you have a pick to win it off?
- 51:13[SPEAKER_03]: Because I got one, I think Georgia's going to borrow us to death through a national championship.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think anybody's beating the thing.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_03]: Georgia.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_02]: I, this is the tough one.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see Indiana win.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see Indiana win.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think that it would just be so grateful for college football, not to have an SEC team or you know, an Ohio State or a Michigan from the, from the Big Ten.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think a team that just comes from absolutely left field.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like Texas, Texas Tech, I'd love to see Texas Tech win it.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see Indiana when it just something a bit different.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'd actually love to see Ole Miss with it just to to fuck Lane Kiffin as well.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_03]: You get the ring though Simon, how much of you know, how much of a fucking is that of Link?
- 52:00[SPEAKER_03]: Well, he's going to get a ring.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: Even so, I think it would be great for those kids who clearly feel let down.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: You can tell by some of the social media stuff that they've been let down.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that would be um.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I'd love, I'd love Indiana's winner.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: Curseignity is great.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, can you imagine when those as post-game press like he's on the field into you and all of a sudden you'll ever after the game, even what he did when he beat Ohio State in the regular season?
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to go out in the, in the big 10 championships.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to go absolutely bonkers.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'd love Indiana's winner.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it'd be a great story.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I just got, I just got Georgia.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think Georgia was going to borrow us to death as they went every game by less than a pledge that.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: All right, that's it.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_03]: There's no more on Monday.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about everything and maybe we even talk a little bit about the quarter final matchups, but tell them.
