- 0:01John Chapter 7. Let us pray, O Lord, our God who
- 0:09reigns on high, we thank you, Father, for who you are.
- 0:13Lord, you are our everything. You're the Master.
- 0:18You are moving everything in accordance with your plans and
- 0:24purposes. You are the great I am.
- 0:28You are exalted and high over everything, everyone.
- 0:33You are Yahweh. You are, I deny, all powerful.
- 0:42You are the banner over us. You are the all sufficient
- 0:46sacrifice. You are the atonement for our
- 0:49sins. You are our provider.
- 0:55You are our healer, and you see us.
- 0:58God, You are everything. You are the very breath in our
- 1:04lungs. And Lord, we just want more of
- 1:08you as we open up your Holy Scriptures today.
- 1:11Teach us, Holy Spirit, teach us the mind of Christ.
- 1:15Teach us your doctrine. Teach us your theology.
- 1:20God, I pray that we'll stay in the truth, that we will not air
- 1:27God and we will not go off the rails, and that we will stay and
- 1:32abide here with you. Father, on holy ground today.
- 1:40Lord, help us to gird up our loins.
- 1:42Help us to stand in your presence.
- 1:44Help us to come into the throne room, Father, and worship you in
- 1:48spirit and truth. Lord, we just want more of you.
- 1:52God, we want to hear from you today.
- 1:55Or let us be in tune and attentive to the still small
- 2:02voice that is roaring loudly over our circumstances, roaring
- 2:10loudly over our emotions, roaring loudly over our feelings
- 2:17and our past, our future, and for today.
- 2:21And God, we desire a touch, Lord, we desire to be healed and
- 2:27to be made whole, God, and to put on the righteousness of
- 2:30Christ. Lord, I pray that you'll
- 2:34continue to edify us and build us up.
- 2:38God, I pray that you'll continue to help us to finish this race
- 2:43well. Lord, we love you.
- 2:48Teach us, I decrease as you increase.
- 2:52It is you and it is you and it is you alone, Jesus Christ, that
- 2:57we are here for. You are the chief cornerstone
- 3:01and you are worthy to be praised.
- 3:04And Jesus Christ, holy, powerful, precious name, I pray,
- 3:14Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 3:20After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not
- 3:27walk in Jewry because the Jews sought to kill him.
- 3:33So we're going to see here that Jesus is trying to be persuaded
- 3:42to go down into Jerusalem to the feast of the Tabernacle Sakuth,
- 3:49the Feast of Booths, and he's going to tell his brothers that
- 3:56it's not yet his time. Let's see how verse two goes.
- 4:00Now the Jews Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
- 4:04Three, his brothers therefore said unto him, Depart from here
- 4:08and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see the works
- 4:15that you do. So if you can even imagine a
- 4:18little bit of a back story here, Jesus's brothers grew up with
- 4:24him, and we know that he had sisters as well.
- 4:28We know that his stepfather Joseph was out of the picture.
- 4:33Perhaps Jesus on his divine timeline, knew that he would go
- 4:40into ministry at 30 years of age and that his siblings would be
- 4:47old enough to be able to take care of themselves or to be
- 4:49married and have someone to take care of them.
- 4:53And so therefore he knew that this divine timeline was
- 4:58happening and his brothers would have grown up with him and would
- 5:03have heard all the things that Mary treasured up in her heart.
- 5:09And here they did not believe that he was the Messiah, and
- 5:16here they are trying to get him to reveal to themselves and to
- 5:23the whole world if he was the Messiah.
- 5:28Let's see how it goes. For for there is no man that
- 5:35does anything in secret, and he himself seeks to be known
- 5:41openly. If you do these things, show
- 5:45yourself to the world. So here his brothers are urging
- 5:51him to reveal if he is the long-awaited Messianic King that
- 5:57they are all waiting for. And Jesus is so intelligent.
- 6:05He is all divine counsel, He is all divine wisdom, and He knows
- 6:10exactly what they are after. They are not actually believing
- 6:16in Him. And it's so sad when you think
- 6:20about the Jews that demanded a sign from Him and He would not
- 6:25give them a sign other than the sign of Jonah, because He knew
- 6:29that it wasn't coming from the right place.
- 6:32When Herod demanded to see a miracle, Jesus knew that it was
- 6:37not coming from the right place. So He knows our inner motives.
- 6:42He knows our inner thoughts. We cannot go to Him in deceit
- 6:48because He sees right through our deception.
- 6:52Friends, we cannot go to God just on a basis of receiving a
- 6:57get out of jail free card. We cannot go to God on the basis
- 7:01of just heal me or heal my family member, heal my child and
- 7:07I will believe in you. And then as soon as the healing
- 7:10comes, we fall away. As soon as they get out of jail
- 7:14free card comes, we fall away. He knows our inner motives.
- 7:19He knows our inner thoughts. He knows if we are just
- 7:24approaching Him with the idea of fix my whole life, But if we
- 7:29will come to Him as broken, repentant sinners and allow Him
- 7:36access fully to every single database, all files, all
- 7:42emotions, and all circumstances. If we will give it all over to
- 7:46Him, then He will start the process of sanctification and He
- 7:51will help us to become more like Him every day.
- 7:55And we will see this world all around us the way that He sees
- 7:59it. And we will see ourselves in the
- 8:03right light that we are broken sinners and all of our
- 8:06righteousness is but filthy rags, friends.
- 8:09And it is only the blood of Christ that can cleanse us and
- 8:13make us whole. And we desperately need it.
- 8:16And we need it today. His brothers had missed it their
- 8:23whole lives. They watched this man their
- 8:25whole lives. He was perfect and sinless.
- 8:30And they are trying to prod him into losing his life before it
- 8:35was his time. But Jesus was too intelligent,
- 8:42too wise to fall for their trap. 5 For neither did his brothers
- 8:52believe in him, not yet. But they would.
- 8:55And they would go on to write some of the New Testament after
- 9:01his death, and after his burial, and after his resurrection and
- 9:06ascension to the right hand of God, to make intercession for
- 9:10you and for me friends. Afterwards his brothers finally
- 9:15had the light bulb moment where they go on to write some of the
- 9:19books of our New Testament. 6th Then Jesus said unto them, My
- 9:24time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
- 9:29So he's saying that this is the day of evil, and evil is having
- 9:35a heyday. But the day is coming, friends,
- 9:40when Jesus Christ will be revealed to the whole world, and
- 9:46every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, and Jesus
- 9:50will take his rightful place on the throne and rule and reign
- 9:55over the earth. Friends, his time was not yet.
- 10:00He was coming as a peasant. He was coming as the child of a
- 10:05poor set of parents. He was coming as a lowly baby in
- 10:09the Manger, in the barn, in a feeding through.
- 10:13He was coming and He was a lowly servant.
- 10:19And yet He was the king. He was a very humble servant and
- 10:26yet He was our leader. This is the way of God.
- 10:31The way up is down. Friends, Stay close to the
- 10:35ground. You will be up in the clouds.
- 10:40We must take the low position if we want to be exalted.
- 10:45But if we exalt ourselves, we will be humbled 10 times out of
- 10:5110. It never works out.
- 10:54Whenever we exalt self, we must take the low position.
- 10:58We must be as a servant. Friends 7 The world cannot hate
- 11:06you, but me it hates because I testify of it that the works of
- 11:11it are evil. Friends, we must pay attention
- 11:15here. Lock in.
- 11:19There is no good in US. No none.
- 11:22We are in desperate need of Him. All of the vanity, all of the
- 11:28pride and deceit must go. The only thing good in this
- 11:33whole world is Jesus Christ. The only thing good is what
- 11:38Jesus is doing in and through US.
- 11:42Friends, it is Jesus the chief cornerstone.
- 11:45If there is any goodness in you, it is coming forth because of
- 11:49what he has done for you and in you and through you.
- 11:53It is Jesus alone that is good. He asked the rich young ruler,
- 11:58Why do you call me good? There is none good but God.
- 12:03He's telling us that ever since the fall, ever since we were
- 12:08banished from Eden, ever since we had the coat of skins that
- 12:13was put on US, ever since we ate the apple, ate the forbidden
- 12:19fruit, ever since we rebelled against God, we have been in
- 12:24constant rebellion. Ever since building towers, we
- 12:29have been in constant rebellion. Friends exalting self and pride,
- 12:36we have been in constant rebellion.
- 12:38Friends murdering our neighbors with our tongue and in deed we
- 12:46are in constant rebellion to the goodness of God.
- 12:51And we must come to Him. And we must admit that there is
- 12:55nothing good in us and we desperately need to be made
- 12:58whole. And it is only through Him, it
- 13:02is only through the blood of Christ that we're going to enter
- 13:05in. And it is only through the
- 13:08sacrifice of Christ that we can start to be sanctified and start
- 13:13to have that mind of Christ, friends, and create in us a
- 13:17clean heart and a clear conscience.
- 13:20Jesus, we ask of you, He's testifying against the world
- 13:27because all the works of the world are evil.
- 13:30The most inner motives of man is evil.
- 13:35Even whenever we shroud it in the humanitarian efforts, it is
- 13:42still evil. All of the works of man apart
- 13:47from God are evil friends. Hey, go you up unto the feast.
- 13:53I go not up yet unto the feast, for my time is not yet fully
- 14:00come. He's telling his brothers, Go on
- 14:03up to the feast. I will not go yet. 9 When he had
- 14:11said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. 10 But
- 14:19when his brothers were gone, up then went he also up unto the
- 14:25feast, but not openly, but as it were, in secret.
- 14:31So here he was going playing the background.
- 14:36He was not wanting to call a bunch of attention to himself.
- 14:43It was not yet his time. He knew that everyone was in
- 14:47high anticipation of the long-awaited Messiah.
- 14:53There were so many rumblings and grumblings, there were so many
- 14:59things that were causing the groundswell to come up that
- 15:04perhaps their long-awaited Messiah was in their midst
- 15:08because of the miracles that he had already done.
- 15:12And his brothers are trying to prod him and trying to get him
- 15:16to reveal his messianic claim to the masses.
- 15:20And Jesus knew that the divine timeline was not yet, and so
- 15:25therefore he played the background.
- 15:28Therefore he went Incognito, therefore he went inconspicuous,
- 15:35and let's see how it goes. 11 Then the Jews sought him at the
- 15:42feast and said, Where is he? So they knew that Jesus was
- 15:48making these claims and doing these miracles in the open that
- 15:52John the Gospel writer has already revealed to us all the
- 15:56things that Jesus has already done.
- 16:01He healed the man at Bethesda. He's turned the water into wine.
- 16:07Jesus has done many miracles already, and these Jews, they
- 16:13wanted to know where He was, What did He have to say?
- 16:16And what He says is of paramount importance to all of humanity,
- 16:26past, present and future. We must hang on His every
- 16:31syllable. And here they want to know where
- 16:34is He? They wanted to know what He had
- 16:37to say for Himself. 12 And there was much murmuring among the
- 16:49people concerning him, for some said he's a good man and others
- 16:55say no, but he deceives the people.
- 16:59And it's no different in our day and our our friends.
- 17:03There is no neutrality when it comes to God Almighty.
- 17:07You are either for him or you are against him.
- 17:10And there is such a division and there's division even amongst
- 17:14our own households, those that are hostile towards God and
- 17:19those that are truly 100% sold out to the King of Kings and the
- 17:24Lord of Lords. Those that have caught the fire,
- 17:28those that have caught the love of Christ, those that have
- 17:32locked eyes with him and seen his eyes like fire and hair like
- 17:35wool. Those that are completely
- 17:38raptured and in love with him. And there is no turning back.
- 17:46But the world will keep doing what the world does.
- 17:49And they're seeking after Mammon.
- 17:52They're seeking after self, they're seeking after all of the
- 17:57idols of this life. And here you can see the line in
- 18:02the sand and the division amongst all people everywhere
- 18:07over the whole globe, all time sake.
- 18:11This is the way that we are living our lives, friends, in
- 18:17the midst of all the people that you come in contact with.
- 18:20And the road to destruction is wide, and many go that way.
- 18:25But the road to everlasting life is straight, and it is narrow,
- 18:31friends, and only a few find it. 13 How be it no man spoke openly
- 18:38of him for fear of the Jews, Fear of man must go.
- 18:43Let fear of man break off. Today, friends, I pray in the
- 18:47name of Jesus that the fear of man will leave.
- 18:51We bind the enemy, and we cast him into the judgment that God
- 18:55has a waiting for him. Do not let fear of man drive all
- 19:00of your conversation. Do not let fear of man drive all
- 19:05of your thoughts. Do not let fear of man keep you
- 19:08in a perpetual state of imprisonment.
- 19:11Friends, we must let the fear of man go, and we must fear God and
- 19:20let everything else fade away. If we will fear God.
- 19:24Everything else bows to that. Everything else bows to Yahweh.
- 19:33All of creation, friends, is subject to our King.
- 19:38We must lock eyes with Him. We must call upon the name of
- 19:43Jesus Christ and watch darkness flee.
- 19:47And that spirit of fear must go. It cannot take up residence
- 19:52inside of the temple. Get rid of it.
- 19:54Consecrate your temple. Make a resolute decision today
- 19:58to take a hold of His garment. To lock eyes with him and to
- 20:05walk in the light friends, as he is in the light friends, and He
- 20:10will expose all the darkness. He will expose all of the
- 20:14demonic influence in your life. This sphere of man is not from
- 20:19God. And you can see here that these
- 20:22people were not willing to make their public proclamation of
- 20:26their decision to follow Jesus because they had fear of man.
- 20:31It has to leave. What can man do to us if God is
- 20:38for us? Who can be against us?
- 20:41And do not fear the one who can kill the body, but fear the one
- 20:46who can kill the body and cast your soul into eternal
- 20:50damnation. 14 Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went
- 20:58up into the temple and taught. So look at Jesus.
- 21:03He goes, His brothers say, come to the festival of booths, and
- 21:09he says, no, I will not go. And then after they go, he goes
- 21:15privately. Then in about the middle of the
- 21:20week he goes into the temple to teach.
- 21:23Let's see what our Lord has to say.
- 21:29This is God in the flesh talking to mankind.
- 21:31Don't miss it. 15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth
- 21:40this man letters, having never learned.
- 21:44And they said the same thing about the band of disciples,
- 21:48these fishermen and tax collectors, that they were
- 21:51unlearned. Man, think about it.
- 21:56We need divine counsel, friends. We need to get our theology and
- 22:03we need to get our doctrine from the word of God, not from man
- 22:08made traditions and presuppositions and bylaws.
- 22:14The Word of God is all that we need.
- 22:18It is all that we need for people to be saved, nothing
- 22:23added and nothing subtracted. It is the word of God that is
- 22:27profitable, and it is only the word of God that is alive and
- 22:31active, and it is divine counsel that we are after. 16 Jesus
- 22:38answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his
- 22:43that sent me. This is God Almighty thoughts
- 22:48for us to wrestle with, friends, don't miss it. 17 If any man
- 22:56will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be
- 23:00of God or whether I speak of myself.
- 23:03He's saying, search the scriptures, they all point to
- 23:06me. 18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory, but he that
- 23:11seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no
- 23:15unrighteousness is in him. Jesus Christ is saying that I do
- 23:20not seek my own glory, but the glory of God Almighty, the
- 23:24create the only one created one that Yahweh sent Jesus Christ
- 23:31into the world and Jesus could only speak the words of God
- 23:36Almighty. He is God Almighty and He's
- 23:39showing them that He is equal to God. 18 is a beautiful verse 19.
- 23:51Did not Moses give you the law? And yet none of you keeps the
- 23:56law? Why go you about to kill me?
- 24:02So he's saying here that they can't even follow the law, and
- 24:08Jesus is coming to give them grace.
- 24:11And he's saying that he did not come to abolish the law, but to
- 24:16fulfill it. And instead of them rejoicing in
- 24:20that, they seek to kill him. How pathetic. 20 The people
- 24:26answered and said, do you have a devil who goes about to kill
- 24:31you? Jesus knew their inner motives,
- 24:34that they were trying to trap him, they were trying to arrest
- 24:37him, and they wanted to brutally murder him.
- 24:39And they were hostile, just as the same as Cain was hostile
- 24:43towards Abel. This is the murdering spirit,
- 24:48and you can see that Jesus knew all of their motives and he
- 24:55called them out and they're trying to cover their tracks. 21
- 25:00Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and
- 25:04you all marvel. So Jesus here, he's showing them
- 25:13that he is equal to God. He's referencing the the
- 25:17miracles that he's already done, and he's saying, you Marvel 22
- 25:23Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision, not because it is
- 25:29of Moses, but of the fathers, and you on the Sabbath day
- 25:34circumcise a man. So here Jesus is showing them
- 25:41that whenever he healed on the Sabbath that they air because
- 25:49they wanted to kill Him for working on the Sabbath.
- 25:52They wanted to arrest Him for making himself equal with God.
- 25:56And here He's showing them their hypocrisy and their duplicity in
- 26:03the way that they approach him. Let's see what else He has to
- 26:06say. 23 If a man on the Sabbath day receives circumcision, that
- 26:12the law of Moses should not be broken.
- 26:15Are you angry at me because I have made a man every wit hole
- 26:20on the Sabbath day? Here he's referencing when he
- 26:24says take up your mat and walk. And he made this man hole.
- 26:29He healed him at the pool of Bethesda, and the Jews were
- 26:34seeking to lay hands on Jesus because of the miracle.
- 26:38And he's saying you're angry at me even though you circumcise on
- 26:43the Sabbath. What hypocrisy. 24 Judge not
- 26:47according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
- 26:52How many of you who have an ox in the hole on Sunday will pull
- 26:57it out? Of course you would. 25 Then
- 27:03said, some of them of Jerusalem. Is not this he whom they seek to
- 27:08kill? So the people are seeing the
- 27:12duplicity and the hypocrisy of the Jews, of the Pharisees.
- 27:16They're seeing that this great multitude is watching and
- 27:20they're saying, if he's done something wrong, why did they
- 27:23not arrest him? But they could not. 26 But lo,
- 27:27he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him.
- 27:32Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
- 27:38Yes, they did, and they still sought to kill him.
- 27:44They at the time were afraid that Jesus was going to disrupt
- 27:52all of their schemes, all of the things that they have built up
- 27:58using the temple and using the law for selfish, greedy gain.
- 28:03And here they were not able to look past their sin and their
- 28:09self and to acknowledge Him in the correct way, that He was the
- 28:17Messiah, that He was the long-awaited Christ.
- 28:20Even if He had every indicator that He was, they refused to see
- 28:25it. 27 Howbeit we know this man where he is.
- 28:32When Christ comes, no man knows where he is.
- 28:36So there was a general idea amongst the culture of that day
- 28:44that when Jesus showed up, He would show up, as the Scriptures
- 28:49say of His second Advent whenever He appears and the
- 28:55whole world will see him. They were not willing to accept
- 28:59that He was born as a baby, that he lived and He grew up amongst
- 29:04them and he was the son of a Carpenter.
- 29:07They were not willing to accept it.
- 29:09They wanted the second Advent, Christ to come and not this
- 29:13first Advent. And they had missed it.
- 29:15They had missed the mark, friends, but Jesus came to
- 29:19correct them. 28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he
- 29:25taught, saying, So this is very significant.
- 29:31This is Jesus lifting his voice and he's crying out, friends.
- 29:40Most of the teachings of Christ were done in a very way that was
- 29:50not loud. It was just very authoritative.
- 29:55And here you can see him standing in the temple and
- 29:58crying these things out to people.
- 30:02This would have been in an elevated tone.
- 30:06He says, You both know me, and you know where I came from, and
- 30:14I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true whom you
- 30:20know not 29 but I know Him, for I am from Him, and He has sent
- 30:27me. He is telling them emphatically
- 30:31that He is the only begotten Son of God.
- 30:35He is showing them that He is come from heaven, that He is not
- 30:40just the Son of a Carpenter, that He is God who is wrapped in
- 30:47flesh. 30 Then they sought to take him, but no man laid hands
- 30:54on him, because his hour was not yet come.
- 30:57So they were given orders. These soldiers were given orders
- 31:01to take a hold of them but they could not.
- 31:05Is like whenever he announced his messianic claim in his own
- 31:09hometown and they tried to take him to the edge of the Cliff to
- 31:13throw him off and he walked right through them.
- 31:15They could not because he was on a divine timeline.
- 31:19He was untouchable. And friends, God knows every
- 31:23single day that you're going to spend on this earth, and if you
- 31:27are blood bought, then you are bulletproof until it is your
- 31:31time and that is what you need to know. 31 And many of the
- 31:38people believed on him and said, when Christ comes, will he do
- 31:41more miracles than these, which this man has done?
- 31:45So you can see the division again here friends, that many of
- 31:50them are saying this has to be the Christ because no one is
- 31:56going to come that is going to do more than this man has done.
- 32:00The Christ is in our midst. And then you saw back up at
- 32:06verse 26 it says 27, it says when Christ comes, no man knows
- 32:13where he will come from. So you can see that there is
- 32:16this great division amongst the people, and some of them to
- 32:21eternal life, and some of them to damnation. 32 The Pharisees
- 32:31heard that the people murmured such things concerning him, and
- 32:36the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take
- 32:41him. 33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I
- 32:49with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. 34 You shall seek
- 32:56me, and shall not find me, and where I am there you cannot
- 33:01come. He's referencing his murder, his
- 33:08crucifixion, he's referencing his burial, he's referencing the
- 33:14resurrection, and he's referencing his ascension to the
- 33:18right hand of God. And he's telling all of the
- 33:22unbelievers who will not place their faith in him that where he
- 33:27is going they will not be able to go. 35 Then said the Jews
- 33:33among themselves, Where will he go, that we shall not find him?
- 33:38Will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach
- 33:42the Gentiles? 36 What manner of saying is
- 33:47this, that he said, You shall seek me, and shall not find me,
- 33:51and where I am there you cannot come.
- 33:53So they were perpetually confused friends.
- 33:59This is very similar to whenever the seed gets sown and the bird
- 34:04comes and snatches it. Jesus is teaching them truth.
- 34:08He's teaching them life and they refuse it.
- 34:13It's getting snatched from them as soon as it falls on the
- 34:16ground and they're even going back over and scrutinizing his
- 34:23very words and they still are refusing to believe. 37 In the
- 34:35last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried,
- 34:43saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
- 34:49He's crying out, friends. He is raising his voice and
- 34:54crying out to the people and saying, Come to me if you are
- 34:58thirsty, and I will give you living water.
- 35:01I will give you a drink, and you will never thirst again.
- 35:07He's telling you that and he's telling me that.
- 35:10And during this festival there would have been water that was
- 35:16taken and poured on the altar to remind them of how God provided
- 35:22for them in the wilderness. And on the last day it was to
- 35:27cease, and they were to pray for water.
- 35:30And hear Jesus is saying, If any of you thirst, come to me, and I
- 35:35will give you living water. 38 He that believes on me, as the
- 35:42Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of
- 35:47living water. So we know that out of the mouth
- 35:51flows from the abundance of the heart.
- 35:54Friends, we know that this living water, when it wells up
- 35:58within us, not only is it good for us, but it is good for the
- 36:02edification of the Saints. It is good for us to speak a
- 36:07better word over the lies that the enemy has sown in to our
- 36:11brothers and sisters, hearts and minds.
- 36:13And we can help those that are on this journey with us. 39 But
- 36:21this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him
- 36:26should receive. For the Holy Ghost was not yet
- 36:29given because that Jesus was not yet glorified.
- 36:33So we know that on the day of Pentecost they received the Holy
- 36:37Ghost. And he told him to go and to
- 36:39wait for this baptism of fire. Friends, and I hope that you
- 36:43have experienced this feeling of the Holy Spirit.
- 36:46I hope that you have that. And it is a seal.
- 36:49It is a down payment, friends, it is a deposit of the eternal
- 36:55life that is to come and we could start to bring heaven down
- 36:59to earth today. And He lets us live in this
- 37:03glory now and we will experience it fully then.
- 37:07And I pray that you are indwelled with the Holy Spirit,
- 37:10friends, and if you will call on the name of the Lord Jesus
- 37:14Christ and believe that God raised him from the dead, you
- 37:17will be saved and you will receive the Holy Ghost, friends.
- 37:2440 Many of the people, therefore, when they heard this
- 37:28saying, said, of a truth, this is the prophet.
- 37:33So we know in the Old Testament it was said that the prophet
- 37:37would come, and they were trying to figure out if the prophet was
- 37:42the Messiah. And they are wanting to believe
- 37:46on him, but they are stuck between a rock and a hard place
- 37:50because they know if they make that decision, they're going to
- 37:53be ousted out of the Sanhedrin. The they're going to be ousted
- 37:58out of the temple because he was to them, just a rogue St.
- 38:03Preacher who was deceiving the masses.
- 38:07And what a line in the sand we must make.
- 38:10Who is Jesus to you? If you cannot authentically,
- 38:16authoritatively say that he is Lord, then to you he is just
- 38:27another prophet. He's just another moral teacher,
- 38:32and there is no salvation in that. 41 others said this is the
- 38:38Christ, but some says, shall Christ come out of Galilee?
- 38:42So here they go again, this division line in the sand.
- 38:46Some of them are wanting desperately to believe that he
- 38:50is the long-awaited Messiah, but then they go right back to their
- 38:54thought patterns of But we know where he came from.
- 38:57We know that he's the son of Joseph, a carpenter's son.
- 39:00We know that he's from Nazareth. Can anything good come out of
- 39:05Nazareth? There's so many times that they
- 39:08were on the verge of believing and the bird came and snatched
- 39:15the seed. The ground was shallow and they
- 39:19fell away. Or the cares of this life came
- 39:22up and choked them out. Friends, and asphyxiated them to
- 39:28the point of fruitlessness. 42 Has not the Scripture said that
- 39:43Christ comes of the seed of David and of the town of
- 39:47Bethlehem where David was? So they missed the whole thing.
- 39:51Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the House of bread.
- 39:54He is the bread of life. And they missed it, friends.
- 39:58And there were many prophets who came out of Galilee and they
- 40:01missed it, Friends. They did not have sound
- 40:04doctrine. They were not actually steeped
- 40:07in the Scriptures. They were steeped in tradition
- 40:10and it's no different. In our day and our hour, we
- 40:13believe whatever is being propagated from the pulpit more
- 40:17than we believe in the Scriptures.
- 40:20Far be it from us to believe the doctrine of man and not believe
- 40:26in the Scriptures, the Holy Scriptures that we have access
- 40:30to. Praise God, you have access to
- 40:33the full counsel of God's Word. And we need to be on guard
- 40:37against the doctrine of demons who try to teach us all kinds of
- 40:42heretical theology, who tell us all kinds of wild ideas and wild
- 40:48stories that have nothing to do with this good book.
- 40:53But how would you know if you're not in it?
- 40:55Don't take my word for it. Get in the good book.
- 41:00Search the Scriptures for yourself.
- 41:02Be like the Bereans, friends. Know the Word, own the Word,
- 41:07live the Word, and don't let anybody talk you down out of
- 41:12your convictions that you get whenever you read the Word of
- 41:16God. 43 So there was a division among the people because of him.
- 41:2844 And some of them would have taken him, but no man laid hands
- 41:33on him. 40-5 Then came the officers to the chief priests
- 41:39and Pharisees, and they said unto them, Why have you not
- 41:44brought him? 46 The officer answered, Never
- 41:50man spoke like this man. They are acknowledging that
- 41:55Christ is speaking with full authority, so much so that they
- 42:03were afraid to take him. They said This is not of human
- 42:09origin, this is divine. And look how all of the
- 42:14religious folk of that day, the religious people of that day
- 42:20were so steeped in their own greed that they missed the mark.
- 42:25They missed the whole point of the whole matter, of the whole
- 42:29scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, the cornerstone.
- 42:33And they were so steeped in greed and power that they
- 42:38refused to love the truth, but they delighted themselves in
- 42:44evil, and they were delusional friends. 47 then answered them,
- 42:57the Pharisees, are you also deceived?
- 43:00No, it was them that were deceived.
- 43:02He's saying that the religious folk are asking these officers,
- 43:07are you deceived? Have you believed what this
- 43:12rogue St. Preacher who's deceiving the
- 43:15masses is saying? We know where he came from.
- 43:20We know he's not the Messiah. That's the idea here. 48 Have
- 43:29any of the rulers or of the Pharisees, Pharisees believed on
- 43:34him? So they're saying, look at all
- 43:36the learned people, all the educated people, all the
- 43:40highfalutin, snobbish people. Have they believed on him?
- 43:44Because that's the indicator if you should believe on them,
- 43:47because you're just the common folk.
- 43:51Look how Jesus when he was picking his disciples, he picked
- 43:54too the common folk. He did not go to the synagogues,
- 43:59He did not go to the temple, He did not go to the rabbis and
- 44:04pick all of his disciples. Who did He pick?
- 44:08The unlearned man. Because He knew that they were
- 44:13so steeped in their traditions that they could not come to Him
- 44:17truthfully. And it's no different in our day
- 44:20and our hour. You should read the Word of God
- 44:23to get your doctrine and then make sure that you have received
- 44:28divine counsel from God Almighty before you go off to be
- 44:32reprogrammed by some school. And all they're doing is trying
- 44:41to push their own agenda and their own thoughts on their
- 44:44pupils. But we need the Word of God more
- 44:50than we need the teaching of man.
- 44:52Friends 49 But this people who knows not the law are cursed.
- 45:03So they're saying that all the common people are cursed because
- 45:09they do not know the law. And you know, isn't this just
- 45:12like man to wield the word of God over the masses and to use
- 45:19the word of God to manipulate people in exact greed and exact
- 45:26power and exact position and authority over the masses by
- 45:31using religion? It is no different today,
- 45:35friends. We must get the true religion.
- 45:39We must have the hem of His garment, we must be covered in
- 45:42the blood of Jesus Christ. We must receive the Holy Spirit.
- 45:46And the Holy Spirit will walk us through all the scriptures and
- 45:50every single one of the scriptures point to Jesus
- 45:54Christ. He is the chief cornerstone when
- 45:59you read Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, when you read
- 46:04Numbers, whenever you read Daniel and you read Isaiah and
- 46:10Jeremiah, whenever you read Proverbs and you read
- 46:15Ecclesiastes and you read First Kings, Second Kings, First
- 46:19Chronicles, Second Chronicles, Whenever you read the book of
- 46:23Jude and you read Revelation and you read James and Hebrews,
- 46:28whenever you read all of Acts and Romans.
- 46:31At all points to Yeshua, our long-awaited Messiah.
- 46:38It's all about Him, it's always been about Him, and it'll always
- 46:41be about Him. And that is our doctrine and
- 46:45theology, friends. 50 Nicodemus said unto them, He that came to
- 46:54Jesus by night, being one of them. 51 Does our law judge any
- 47:00man before it hears him, and know what he does?
- 47:04So here we can see that Nicodemus was an earnest seeker.
- 47:09We know that Nicodemus was genuine in his approach.
- 47:12We know that Nicodemus stuck his neck out for our Lord here. 52
- 47:19They answered and said unto him, Are you also Galilee?
- 47:23Search and look, for out of Galilee arises no prophet.
- 47:28And that was not true, friends, we know that Elijah was come out
- 47:36of Galilee, and we know that Jonah was come out of Galilee,
- 47:41and perhaps some of the other minor prophets had come out of
- 47:46Galilee. And so here they erred
- 47:48grievously by not knowing the Scriptures.
- 47:52Friends, we'll end on 53. And every man went unto his own
- 47:57house and they had to sit and think about it.
- 48:01They had to sit and wrestle through all of the truth that
- 48:06was just revealed by our Lord Jesus Christ in the temple,
- 48:12crying out and making them make a decision.
- 48:15And he does the same today. Friends, if you woke up today,
- 48:19he's not done with you and you must make a decision of who is
- 48:24Jesus Christ? Is he just the way that you get
- 48:34your living? Is he just a a good moral
- 48:38teacher? Is the Bible just a a tool for
- 48:43you to make your living? Or is he truly the Christ?
- 48:59Is He truly the only way to the Father?
- 49:05We must make that decision today.
- 49:08You cannot serve both God and Mammon.
- 49:11You will love 1. You will hate the other.
- 49:15Be in tune and walk in the spirit today friends, and let
- 49:19that still small voice speak to you when you read these
- 49:22scriptures. And do not be deceived, for
- 49:26there is such a spirit of mammon and there's such a spirit of
- 49:31deceit that is trying to sow its way into the culture and into
- 49:38our lives. And we must be on guard against
- 49:42the yeast of the Pharisees. Friends, We must have the word
- 49:47of God written on our hearts and receive a clean heart and
- 49:53receive from God and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
- 50:00Hope you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 50:02I know I sure have praying for you.
- 50:11I love you, God loves you, Jesus loves you, and the Holy Spirit
- 50:25loves you. Where he is, we will go.
- 50:31He can be here with us now, friends.
- 50:34We can live out the abundant life.
- 50:40We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 50:42God bless you.
