- 0:58Speaker 1: guests in here the ferg Man Asap Ferg.
- 1:02Speaker 2: In the buildings, in that Persian line Egyptian God du
- 1:06Speaker 2: season line, You're my guy.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's crazy. I was just listening to what was the
- 1:12Speaker 1: fucking I was working out? And what was the murder
- 1:16Speaker 1: something with you and Walker something? Wow, It's crazy how
- 1:20Speaker 1: long ago that album, like like Traplord was what twenty thirteen?
- 1:23Speaker 1: Twenty thirteen is Do you feel like an OG now?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Because you are kind of you're an OG at this point.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I mean when you're you have a fifteen year career.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I don't feel like a OG, but I know I'm
- 1:34Speaker 2: an OG, right, I'm a young OG.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yes, definitely a young OG like you like went through
- 1:39Speaker 1: the blog era.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I went through some eras a lot of errors actually survived.
- 1:45Speaker 1: You were like before streaming and then the streaming era
- 1:47Speaker 1: comes and yeah, it's kind of crazy man. Yeah. Do
- 1:51Speaker 1: you ever like, like, like, how often do you? Cause?
- 1:52Speaker 1: I feel like sometimes when you have so much success
- 1:55Speaker 1: and you're kind of like living in your dream, you
- 1:57Speaker 1: don't really get to kind of like maybe reflect as
- 2:01Speaker 1: much as you would like because you're so in it.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Do you ever like sit back and reflect on just
- 2:05Speaker 1: kind of the journey.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I think that every album that I released new project,
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm kind of forced to go back to it because
- 2:15Speaker 2: it's almost like a recap from like the beginning, just
- 2:18Speaker 2: like I'm doing with you. You're bringing up Odega Bams
- 2:21Speaker 2: and yeah, yeah the tam Boys. Like I'm now, I'm
- 2:27Speaker 2: thinking about all of the errors, and I'm thinking about
- 2:29Speaker 2: the music that came from that era, and I'm thinking
- 2:31Speaker 2: about the joy and all of that. So yeah, it's
- 2:34Speaker 2: constantly like going back and reflecting when I drop a
- 2:38Speaker 2: new project and I do press runs and even like
- 2:41Speaker 2: sometimes like just to just to see how much I've grown,
- 2:45Speaker 2: Like I'll go back and listen to like my first
- 2:48Speaker 2: album and just and and also because that was my
- 2:53Speaker 2: I feel like that was that album It took me
- 2:57Speaker 2: my whole life to make because up until that point,
- 2:59Speaker 2: I was just living life. And then I created an
- 3:01Speaker 2: album twenty thirteen and then like that that came out
- 3:08Speaker 2: of thin it.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I was like the most.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Purest I probably possibly could be creatively because I didn't
- 3:17Speaker 2: know what I was doing, Like I wasn't I was
- 3:20Speaker 2: just trying to create a genre. So I'm always making
- 3:22Speaker 2: sure I don't lose that wonder when it comes to creative.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You damn near. It kind of did create a genre,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and it's like crazy. If you think about work, it's
- 3:31Speaker 1: like there's like these forever club records, like No Hands
- 3:34Speaker 1: is one of them. You know, like there's just records that,
- 3:38Speaker 1: no matter what, forever will get played in clubs. But
- 3:41Speaker 1: for you, you got like work, which, obviously in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: hip hop clubs gets played. But then like like I
- 3:47Speaker 1: don't even know how many EDM remixes what that thing?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Bro Like every rave there's a work fucking joint.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Like yo, I'm seeing them pop up. Like I went
- 3:56Speaker 2: to a Diplo festival and he played one that they
- 4:01Speaker 2: was going crazy too, like and I was like, this
- 4:04Speaker 2: is nuts. So it takes on the life of his own.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I'll rock with it.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Do you like, like, do you have a favorite one
- 4:11Speaker 1: of the remixes?
- 4:12Speaker 2: I don't they just they just I might have heard
- 4:15Speaker 2: like too.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Because there's probably like two that are probably like huge
- 4:19Speaker 1: obviously the og remixes, you.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Know, yeah, one of the ones, well, I mean I
- 4:24Speaker 2: didn't remix none of those. Everybody's just doing their own
- 4:26Speaker 2: thing with it. But yeah, like the the og remix,
- 4:29Speaker 2: the Work remix, Yeah, that that all remix I was
- 4:34Speaker 2: just thinking about that because when I first did work,
- 4:38Speaker 2: I was like, all right, it's going that's obviously the song.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Well for y'all that don't know, that song took me
- 4:44Speaker 2: out of the hood through the strategy. But when I
- 4:48Speaker 2: did the remix, it really solidified my space and music.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And I remember like once Schoolboy Q he had sent
- 4:56Speaker 2: his version and I was like, oh no, he on
- 5:00Speaker 2: me on my ship. And I remember recording that ship
- 5:03Speaker 2: like three. I did three different verses and then it
- 5:06Speaker 2: was like the last one. I remember J Cole doing
- 5:09Speaker 2: the interview. He said, songs that usually work has great
- 5:14Speaker 2: call call and responses. So I remember I put two
- 5:18Speaker 2: call and responses in that song. It was the the
- 5:23Speaker 2: Cootie down to the South like a baby yeah ball,
- 5:35Speaker 2: So it was two calling responses and for sure that
- 5:37Speaker 2: it worked. Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Was there anybody almost made it on that remix, but
- 5:42Speaker 1: just for whatever reason, it just didn't get cleared or
- 5:44Speaker 1: didn't make it over the finish line. Nah.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That was the perfect song because during that time everybody
- 5:50Speaker 2: was on that song. It was like on the cring
- 5:53Speaker 2: crazy like it was like French was hot and you.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Know his fish grease.
- 5:59Speaker 2: He always hopped Doro like the hottest shit. So you
- 6:01Speaker 2: knew when French hopped on your shit, you had.
- 6:03Speaker 1: To around the time. He was on everything, Like, Yo.
- 6:07Speaker 2: He just popped up to my video shoot when I
- 6:09Speaker 2: did the work like OGV no, no, no, it was
- 6:12Speaker 2: wild that just popped up. Yeah, he popped about of nowhere.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But French always hopped on like the hottest shit and
- 6:19Speaker 2: still to this day. But Trinidad James, he had the
- 6:24Speaker 2: gold song out and then Rocky and then Q school
- 6:28Speaker 2: Boy Q.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So that was like atl La New York. It was
- 6:34Speaker 1: just crazy, Yo, can you speak back then? I feel
- 6:37Speaker 1: like there was such a dope synergy between the TD
- 6:43Speaker 1: crew and the ASAP crew, specifically with y'all and Q.
- 6:48Speaker 1: What was that like? Because obviously, you know, if you
- 6:50Speaker 1: talk about movements coming out of each coast like early
- 6:53Speaker 1: twenty tens, there's nothing that really kind of can compare
- 6:56Speaker 1: to what each one of y'all's crews had going on
- 6:59Speaker 1: in visually. What was that synergy like with y'all, how
- 7:02Speaker 1: did that initially start?
- 7:03Speaker 2: And it wasn't just Q, it was like everybody. Our
- 7:06Speaker 2: first tour was with Drake and it was on Kendrick.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Kendrick was dead Rocky was dead. Yeah club the first
- 7:14Speaker 2: it was the first club Paradise tour, yea and Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 2: like we would we would hang out every day. That's
- 7:21Speaker 2: how I got that verse out of Q.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I was like, you gotta get on the remix, and
- 7:25Speaker 1: I was trying to get my Kendrick verse.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I was like, yo, I remember, I almost had it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: He was about the record, but we had to go perform.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I was hot, Damn what song were you trying to
- 7:32Speaker 2: get him on? It was like somebody pulled up any
- 7:35Speaker 2: beat and he was just feeling and I was like,
- 7:37Speaker 2: let's let's go, let's go, let's go. I was just
- 7:39Speaker 2: trying to get him on a song, but I had
- 7:41Speaker 2: Q locked in. I was trying to learn how to
- 7:43Speaker 2: mix from Ali. I was learning from everybody.
- 7:46Speaker 1: What was that tour like? Because you think about a
- 7:48Speaker 1: snapshot of history, that's that's crazy.
- 7:51Speaker 2: That toll was pure fun. Drake showed us how to
- 7:55Speaker 2: do it. When it came down to like lining up
- 7:59Speaker 2: all the women, he has send.
- 8:01Speaker 1: A scout, get all the girls, and then after we
- 8:05Speaker 1: like he got all of the girls, he got all
- 8:08Speaker 1: of the chicks right here. I feel like a lot
- 8:10Speaker 1: of the bigger artists that got that homie that they'll
- 8:12Speaker 1: send out of the crowd.
- 8:14Speaker 2: He had, he had that designated homie and then so
- 8:19Speaker 2: but I but he also had great showmanship and he
- 8:24Speaker 2: knew how to rock a craw that was.
- 8:25Speaker 1: A fucking problems Sarah, Right, fucking problems was out.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe so. And then we had Kendrick and
- 8:33Speaker 2: well we had we had.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Uh was what was walk on that tour?
- 8:37Speaker 2: There was another Chase Chases on the tour. Shout out
- 8:40Speaker 2: to Chase, but yeah, we Kendrick performed and he was
- 8:45Speaker 2: like M sixteen on stage and uh, just to see
- 8:51Speaker 2: top every day with the red fitted on that breakfast
- 8:54Speaker 2: was like, oh.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we're doing it. But you know, coming up like
- 9:00Speaker 1: Kendrick was amazing, amazing art. He's not the Kendrick we
- 9:05Speaker 1: know today.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Of course Drake was big, but he was not even
- 9:14Speaker 2: know he.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Was at the beginning of the like yeah, this is
- 9:17Speaker 1: the Star.
- 9:18Speaker 2: This is AMPU Theater and gems like era.
- 9:22Speaker 1: But to me, that ship was like, yeah, we're doing arenas,
- 9:25Speaker 1: Like that's what it looks like here right the second album, yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 1: take care of Yeah, and then we were linking up
- 9:33Speaker 1: We're going to it just opened up a whole different
- 9:35Speaker 1: world than me, and like, yeah, it was just on.
- 9:39Speaker 1: When you think about, like how crazy it is to
- 9:41Speaker 1: fast forward and almost everyone who was on that tour
- 9:43Speaker 1: together is at odds with each other. It's kind of crazy.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I feel like that's kind of natural though, because even
- 9:52Speaker 2: when you think about the family dynamic and like little
- 9:55Speaker 2: brother big brother things, you know, a lot of the
- 9:59Speaker 2: times a little brother want to grow up and prove
- 10:01Speaker 2: themselves and don't want to be under the wing of
- 10:03Speaker 2: the big brother. Like so that happens a lot, like
- 10:06Speaker 2: people growing to individuals, and a lot of the times
- 10:10Speaker 2: where we start it's not who we really are. We
- 10:14Speaker 2: still growing into the person we are. So the the
- 10:17Speaker 2: k Dot that was on tour, or the drake that
- 10:20Speaker 2: was on tour, the rocket that was on tour, the
- 10:22Speaker 2: ferg that was on tour as not that same person.
- 10:25Speaker 2: We were still learning ourselves during that time. So when
- 10:29Speaker 2: you grow you can't expect for the relationship to be
- 10:31Speaker 2: the same.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Mmm. Yeah, no, that's real. Hey, we got to stop
- 10:34Speaker 1: the interview to tell you about our good folks odd
- 10:36Speaker 1: socks man. Now these are the odd socks basics, ladies
- 10:39Speaker 1: and gentlemen. Now when I tell you, this is a
- 10:42Speaker 1: product that every single day I'm alive for the last
- 10:48Speaker 1: five six years I have used are these odd Socks Basics. Now,
- 10:52Speaker 1: what odd Socks is doing is they're kind of reinventing
- 10:54Speaker 1: the sock game for being honest and the underwear game.
- 10:56Speaker 1: You know, a lot of times you'll hit Walmart, you'll
- 10:58Speaker 1: hit Target, You'll get some sock, I get some draws.
- 11:01Speaker 1: They're affordable, they end up with holes in them, they
- 11:04Speaker 1: don't really feel great. Not odd Socks, Ladies and gentlemen. These
- 11:07Speaker 1: odd Socks Basics are the most comfortable socks I've ever
- 11:10Speaker 1: had on my feet. Not only that, but you're super affordable.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Fourteen ninety nine for a six pack. That's it oddsocks
- 11:20Speaker 1: dot com. And if you don't believe me, sock check full.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Wait that's the ex is on the other side. There
- 11:28Speaker 1: we go. Ah, you see that. Sorry you had to
- 11:32Speaker 1: see those white legs. But it's so dope that, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I get to push a product that I use and
- 11:38Speaker 1: that I love, so odd Socks. They got the six
- 11:41Speaker 1: pack of socks for fourteen ninety nine at odd socks
- 11:43Speaker 1: dot com. The basics. This is the future of socks.
- 11:47Speaker 1: The future of underwear comfort and affordability. I'm talking about
- 11:52Speaker 1: affordability without jeopardizing the quality because they are the most
- 11:55Speaker 1: comfortable socks you ever put on your feet. Ladies and
- 11:57Speaker 1: gents and the etcetera. It's got to show love to
- 12:01Speaker 1: the ETCeteras. We like all the stripes on the flag.
- 12:03Speaker 1: There are odd socks dot com. Man, much love to
- 12:06Speaker 1: my brothers over there. Make sure you get some right now,
- 12:08Speaker 1: odd socks dot Com. Let's get back to the interview.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Today is Yam's birthday? No? Is it just thirty seventh birthday? Today?
- 12:20Speaker 1: I believe it's today? Is it today? Yeah, today's yams birthday,
- 12:27Speaker 1: thirty seven today?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Wow, life is going. I was older than the MS.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I'm older than the EMS a few two months.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm thirty eight so month. Yeah, yeah, I was born
- 12:38Speaker 1: January eighty.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Seven, thirty eight.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow. So can you kind of cause you know
- 12:43Speaker 1: I was.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Show you was like at the shows and like what
- 12:47Speaker 2: was you doing like when we first started, I was
- 12:49Speaker 2: doing radio.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I kind of started cracking in the blog
- 12:52Speaker 1: era like twenty ten, twenty eleven.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Like did you start during that time?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Yeah? Like I had all the early like Freddy interviews
- 12:59Speaker 1: all the early like did you start though, uh start
- 13:03Speaker 1: start like oh five, when I was like eighteen, I
- 13:06Speaker 1: figured that and then like by the time the blog
- 13:09Speaker 1: er kicked off, I was in Vegas and that's when
- 13:10Speaker 1: I was getting like I had an underground hip hop show,
- 13:13Speaker 1: so all the fool's coming up, like yeah, because he
- 13:15Speaker 1: always looked at you like super solidified in your space, right,
- 13:18Speaker 1: So it was like what like yeah, like that vege.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Like when I was living in Vegas in like twenty
- 13:24Speaker 1: ten eleven, that's when I had Mac Miller, like up
- 13:26Speaker 1: before he even had I think when he just dropped kids.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Shout outs to the goat resting piece of Mac Miller.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I remember he brought a belt from me. This is
- 13:34Speaker 2: like before I was rapping and like I just started
- 13:38Speaker 2: like pushing the music and he was linking over Rocky
- 13:43Speaker 2: and I was selling these belts. It was called Davoni
- 13:46Speaker 2: and he brought some belts from me. So shout out to.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I got him on a mural outside. Yeah, see shout
- 13:51Speaker 1: out to Mac man risked in peace Gone too soon man.
- 13:54Speaker 1: But speaking of gone too soon, can you kind of
- 13:55Speaker 1: speak because I was talking with Jay Worthy and we
- 13:58Speaker 1: were kind of talking about how he was so worthy.
- 14:00Speaker 1: He was just saying like how like Yams really like
- 14:02Speaker 1: was one of the first guys really give him like
- 14:04Speaker 1: the confidence to take music series.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Jay Worthy is like the red version of Yams, but
- 14:10Speaker 2: it kind of felt like red.
- 14:14Speaker 1: At such a high level of like an ear of taste,
- 14:17Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying, like what can you
- 14:19Speaker 1: just kind of speak to like his importance and you
- 14:24Speaker 1: know what what he brought to the table as a
- 14:26Speaker 1: crew member and maybe just share like a fond memory
- 14:28Speaker 1: of him, you know, because I feel like, for whatever reason,
- 14:31Speaker 1: we don't talk about Yams enough.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yams is a geek, and he's a geek for culture,
- 14:38Speaker 2: so he dives into culture just like all of.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Us are geeks.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Like I'm in geek too, Like when it comes down to,
- 14:44Speaker 2: you know, geeking about sounds, the eclectic music types like Yams.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Is that like, you know, shout out to Max B.
- 14:53Speaker 2: He just got out of prison.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I just saw you with him, yep.
- 14:56Speaker 2: And Yams used to work with Karen Silvill under Max
- 15:01Speaker 2: B to pack his CDs and all of that, So
- 15:03Speaker 2: that that shows you, like already like he was ahead
- 15:06Speaker 2: of the game, learning and turning working just learning the
- 15:11Speaker 2: business to become who he eventually became, which is one
- 15:15Speaker 2: of the big biggest execs in the world. He he
- 15:21Speaker 2: took a bunch of different textures, which is the mob,
- 15:25Speaker 2: and made us mesh well and you know we we
- 15:30Speaker 2: we got everything from the high end all the way
- 15:32Speaker 2: to the you know, New York grungey, gritty vibes going
- 15:36Speaker 2: and he he made that blend.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Well, that's who Yams was. Do you think very good curator?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Do you think losing him was kind of like losing
- 15:45Speaker 1: the glue that kind of kept everybody together.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I wouldn't want to say that losing him is losing
- 15:49Speaker 2: the glue. I would have said that before. But like
- 15:52Speaker 2: I said, like we all grow, and it eventually happened
- 15:56Speaker 2: like people growing to themselves and realized like, oh I
- 16:00Speaker 2: don't want to do this, I really want to do this,
- 16:02Speaker 2: or whatever the case may be. I think that Yams
- 16:05Speaker 2: was a very important ingredient when it came down to
- 16:10Speaker 2: being an ear being, somebody who had vision, being somebody
- 16:15Speaker 2: who had who had skin in the game, because I
- 16:20Speaker 2: when I came in the game, I didn't know what
- 16:21Speaker 2: was going on right right right, right, Like I said,
- 16:24Speaker 2: he was packing tapes up in CDs and all of
- 16:27Speaker 2: that for Max b so he he had skin in
- 16:30Speaker 2: the game.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like just riding this crazy like twenty ten,
- 16:34Speaker 1: twenty eleven, twenty twelve wave surf waves, so such a
- 16:39Speaker 1: crazy time. It was a whole wave.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a wave, and it was definitely a
- 16:44Speaker 2: time to be alive. Like it was like we all
- 16:48Speaker 2: caught the frequency, like we was all on a wave.
- 16:51Speaker 1: We was all like Danny Brown. Can't forget him, fucking
- 16:53Speaker 1: Danny Brown. Yeah. One Train is one of the greatest.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I always say this, like it's my favorite posse cuts
- 16:58Speaker 1: probably in the last twenty years, fifteen years. Rocky is
- 17:00Speaker 1: a genius for that. Just that lineup Yellow Wolf, Big Critch, Zoey, Badass. Oh,
- 17:08Speaker 1: Krit's one him Ones Action Bronson Crazy. I saw you
- 17:14Speaker 1: obviously you and Denzelben. You know you're on his last
- 17:17Speaker 1: project and you guys are tight. But he's on my
- 17:20Speaker 1: last project too. I saw you hanging out with him
- 17:22Speaker 1: playing him the polo record, and uh do you ever?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Like I always think one of the biggest what ifs
- 17:27Speaker 1: and hip hop is like if the Raider Klan and
- 17:30Speaker 1: Asap never fell out, because there was such a like
- 17:33Speaker 1: it was just such a beautiful moment in like underground rap.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Like, well, I feel like, Yeah should have signed everybody
- 17:44Speaker 2: because he could.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Have right Space goes per everybody.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Everybody cutthroat, you know, Joey Fats, Matthews. Ye, he could
- 17:56Speaker 2: have like the whole beast coast, like he could have
- 17:59Speaker 2: figured something something.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I mean, we were super young, so like I had underachievers.
- 18:05Speaker 2: We we growing into ourselves and I don't think everybody
- 18:09Speaker 2: fully understood their powers, right, but yeah, definitely, Like when
- 18:14Speaker 2: I think of a SAP, it ain't just us. It's
- 18:18Speaker 2: like we all threw that up. We all threw the
- 18:21Speaker 2: handshake up with TD. We did the same handshake with them,
- 18:24Speaker 2: with UZI, with Lil YACHTI with like these just all
- 18:28Speaker 2: and they was the second coming Cardi, Like that's that's
- 18:32Speaker 2: all the mob for was there?
- 18:34Speaker 1: Because I think back to like the early Cozy Tape
- 18:36Speaker 1: ship and like I, I like knew Cardi had like
- 18:40Speaker 1: star qualities to him, but I had no idea like
- 18:43Speaker 1: he had superstar, biggest rock star in rap quality, Like
- 18:49Speaker 1: what was like it being around like during the Cozy
- 18:53Speaker 1: Tape early you know Cardi days, because that's the first
- 18:56Speaker 1: time I ever heard Cardi was, I think on the
- 18:58Speaker 1: first Cozy Tapes project, like, did you have any idea
- 19:00Speaker 1: this this could even be an outcome? Like it's kind
- 19:02Speaker 1: of crazy, right.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I could not lie to you and say yes I did,
- 19:05Speaker 2: Like I mean, I never put it past anybody to
- 19:09Speaker 2: you know, become what they're gonna become.
- 19:11Speaker 1: But you know, to me, he was already successful, like
- 19:14Speaker 1: he was already doing this.
- 19:16Speaker 2: But to even think past what he where he was
- 19:20Speaker 2: at and just when he took his his fashion and
- 19:23Speaker 2: creative direction and just created a world very commendable. And no,
- 19:29Speaker 2: I did not see all of this coming, but I'll
- 19:34Speaker 2: give Rocky credit because Rocky seen it and he told
- 19:38Speaker 2: me early on he said, Yo, this dude, he's about
- 19:42Speaker 2: to be like the next Wayne. And I'm like what
- 19:46Speaker 2: And not in a bad way, but I'm just like, yo,
- 19:48Speaker 2: he got his own style, his own thing. And I
- 19:51Speaker 2: don't know if him and Cardi, that's that's what I
- 19:53Speaker 2: gotta like asks either one of them like next time
- 19:57Speaker 2: I see him, as like, did you have conversation about
- 20:01Speaker 2: the Wayne thing or this and that? Because he really
- 20:04Speaker 2: like and now he on some like Michael Jackson shit
- 20:07Speaker 2: like he just but it's all vamped out.
- 20:10Speaker 1: It's all. It's very different than what it was then,
- 20:13Speaker 1: like ten years ago. Cardi is like a lot different.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But but when you think about it, is.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It that's fair? Is it? Like really? Like when you
- 20:24Speaker 1: look at the makeup of it all, and like, yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 1: when I think when he comes from like Telephone Calls,
- 20:30Speaker 1: which is one of my favorite records, and like even
- 20:32Speaker 1: him on that was just like hellaly, like what the
- 20:34Speaker 1: fuck is it?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Like no, he's he's just doing what he learned. Like
- 20:41Speaker 2: you think about opium, opium is is asap for sure.
- 20:45Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. They doing it in their way.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the new I tell people who don't get it,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and I'm one of those people, by the way, Uh,
- 20:53Speaker 1: it's just the new punk rock. We don't have punk
- 20:55Speaker 1: rock anymore. Like like when we're growing up, bro, Like
- 20:58Speaker 1: there was fucking like rock bands that were cracking, but
- 21:00Speaker 1: who was that cook now? But we was doing the
- 21:03Speaker 1: goth But what I'm saying black I'm saying. I'm saying
- 21:07Speaker 1: like that's just the new iteration of it. It's yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I mean, but that's what it's the Internet era. But
- 21:13Speaker 1: that's what hip hop always been. Look at the Furies
- 21:16Speaker 1: five and and uh, all of these guys wear fringes
- 21:19Speaker 1: on the leather jackets and tight leather pants. We've been
- 21:22Speaker 1: rock stars and hip hop is made of all of
- 21:26Speaker 1: those elements anyway. Yeah, yeah, when you watch Broking Glass everywhere,
- 21:30Speaker 1: like they was wearing cowboy boots and leather pants and
- 21:34Speaker 1: fringes on the leather jackets. You know what. I always
- 21:36Speaker 1: wanted to ask you because one of my favorite tours
- 21:40Speaker 1: was when you and Tory went out and uh, this
- 21:44Speaker 1: was right after Toy's first album and it was like
- 21:48Speaker 1: a co headline tour. I feel like, but was it ever?
- 21:53Speaker 1: Like in this food was doing all kind of crazy
- 21:55Speaker 1: ass ship, Like his live show was crazy, Like like
- 21:59Speaker 1: what was that was that? Like? What was that tour like?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Because it had to like you guys had to motivate
- 22:04Speaker 1: each other because you had the crazy energy. His energy
- 22:07Speaker 1: on that on that tour was he was he was doing,
- 22:10Speaker 1: he was in the crowd, he was doing all kind
- 22:12Speaker 1: of wild. He was climbing, limbing up on the ship.
- 22:14Speaker 1: It was wild. He was playing the fucking monkey bars
- 22:16Speaker 1: at every venue.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I like touring with him because like, my songs did
- 22:21Speaker 2: a lot of the crazy.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Ship, right your songs had the energy. Yeah, my songs
- 22:25Speaker 1: did a lot of crazy.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Ship and then when he because we was going like
- 22:28Speaker 2: back and forth, I do like three songs. He come out,
- 22:31Speaker 2: do three songs when he come out. I don't think
- 22:35Speaker 2: he even had the big songs yet he did. Yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 2: so he he he's.
- 22:40Speaker 1: He's showing people like, Yo, this is supposed to be
- 22:43Speaker 1: His biggest record was the Afrobeat Sounded Joint And then
- 22:48Speaker 1: say it.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And he's fucking climbing around but yeah, how you like
- 22:54Speaker 2: when how like how are you doing all of this?
- 22:56Speaker 2: Like but he's like climbing the second floor and ship. Yeah,
- 23:00Speaker 2: I'm like, Yo, just don't get sued.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah, like come on, like, don't fall on a fucking fan.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Don't kill anybody, but Yo, shout out to Tory. I
- 23:08Speaker 2: remember early on Sasha.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Sasha is a great guy.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Sasha is his manager. My dude, he brought Torri
- 23:16Speaker 2: early Tori to my hotel room and he played me
- 23:20Speaker 2: a freestyle that he did the shava on YouTube.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Crazy not like this dude is nice. Yeah it's nasty. Yo.
- 23:27Speaker 1: This new polo record that you just dropped, I saw
- 23:29Speaker 1: you kind of paying homage to like all the low Heads,
- 23:32Speaker 1: which for people who don't know, there's like a subculture
- 23:34Speaker 1: from the nineties where there was a ton of heavy
- 23:38Speaker 1: shoplifting going on in New York. Everybody had the polo collection.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Shout out to like Thurston Howe and all those guys.
- 23:45Speaker 1: How much of like when you were growing up, Like
- 23:48Speaker 1: how much of the polo because the polo shit was
- 23:50Speaker 1: it was very much like a subgenre of culture. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: their low heads were like serious motherfuckers.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Hey they wear polo like bloods with red It's crips
- 24:01Speaker 2: with blue bandannas. But yeah, but yeah, like the low
- 24:07Speaker 2: headed thing was is a thing.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It is a thing and was a thing.
- 24:11Speaker 2: But we was just winning polo because we liked polo,
- 24:14Speaker 2: like as kids, Like we wasn't even on We just wear.
- 24:17Speaker 1: What we like.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah, the polo ship was man, but they just took
- 24:21Speaker 2: it to a whole other level.
- 24:23Speaker 1: And yeah, the towels, the the whatever.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Like jet skis. But yeah, I had to pay her
- 24:31Speaker 2: homage because Ralph is one of the best to do it.
- 24:35Speaker 1: That's how you met.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I met him a few times. I mean, yeah, shout
- 24:40Speaker 2: out to Ralph. Definitely shoutouts to Ralph Lichwitz.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to give a shout out to our
- 24:46Speaker 1: family at Broken Man Broken. Listen. I love these vapes.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Broken Cannabis makes sure you go shoot them a follow.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I was in Austin, Texas, and you know I was
- 24:59Speaker 1: off the Broken in Texas, even though I'm not sure
- 25:01Speaker 1: legally I was supposed to be off the Broken in Texas.
- 25:03Speaker 1: But look, you gotta go follow them right now. Go

- 25:17Speaker 1: And you know we only rock with the premium the best,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and when I tell you, Broken is the best. They've

- 25:51Speaker 1: I saw Baby Sam in New York and I think
- 25:53Speaker 1: she had just bought a painting off you. Yeah, but
- 25:56Speaker 1: you're like fully doing like art, like you did the
- 25:59Speaker 1: art for your album, You did art for your last
- 26:01Speaker 1: last album, for the new single. When did you kind
- 26:05Speaker 1: of find this pocket? Were you like confident enough to
- 26:07Speaker 1: like kind of because I feel like as an artist
- 26:10Speaker 1: it's probably like a little intimidating to like go out
- 26:14Speaker 1: outward with your art because you don't know how the
- 26:15Speaker 1: world's going to receive it, right.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I've always lived in that grete space though, like that
- 26:20Speaker 2: like that, uh, I always want to be on a
- 26:23Speaker 2: on a cusp of like what's next with my creativity.
- 26:27Speaker 2: So whether that's like you know, doing a song that
- 26:33Speaker 2: sample Smacked my Bitch up by Prodigy, or like doing
- 26:37Speaker 2: like a Crystal Waters sample with like with Missy Elliott
- 26:42Speaker 2: with Mustard. Like I'm always pushing, like even doing a
- 26:47Speaker 2: deep song like Pool on my last album. I'm always
- 26:52Speaker 2: like living on the edge with my artistry. And during
- 26:56Speaker 2: the pandemic, I was just sitting with myself and I
- 26:59Speaker 2: was just like, Yo, what what can I do to
- 27:02Speaker 2: just take my ship to the next level. And I've
- 27:04Speaker 2: been like on this thing of like building my own
- 27:07Speaker 2: world like I've always it's like, yo, people got to
- 27:10Speaker 2: see my world because they'll understand the music more once
- 27:13Speaker 2: they know fully who I am. And I was like, yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 2: they got to get it immersed into my daily routines,
- 27:21Speaker 2: like you know what I do to stay sane in
- 27:25Speaker 2: this business of my workout, my art, my my how
- 27:31Speaker 2: I think about clothing because that's what Rockefeller did for us,
- 27:35Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Like when I started thinking
- 27:36Speaker 2: about like all of the different facets and.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Entities that they.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Created, clothing, movies, liquor, everything all of that, I'm like,
- 27:50Speaker 2: they created everything for us. They created the Bible basically
- 27:54Speaker 2: for us to live by and like blueprint. And I
- 27:57Speaker 2: was like, all right, bet let me figure this out.
- 28:00Speaker 1: If you don't, I don't want to pocket watch. But
- 28:01Speaker 1: what's the most you saw the painting for so far?
- 28:05Speaker 2: That's private and I don't think the five digits. I
- 28:07Speaker 2: don't think the owners will appreciate you know this, This
- 28:11Speaker 2: this art thing is very Have you been commissioned, Yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 2: I've been commissioned from Hennessy to do a creative piece,
- 28:20Speaker 2: an art piece and I've been commissioned by Adidas, Oh
- 28:22Speaker 2: that's fire, to do an art piece, not by a person,
- 28:26Speaker 2: by corporations. And then recently I've just been commissioned to
- 28:31Speaker 2: to basically curate a space for ug Fieldhouse where like
- 28:36Speaker 2: people could come in and create their own ugs at
- 28:38Speaker 2: a workshop.
- 28:39Speaker 1: And what's up with the ug rand as stock man?
- 28:41Speaker 1: What's like? My son is a he like he wants ugs,
- 28:47Speaker 1: but he's like a little fashioned dude and he's like
- 28:51Speaker 1: he'd be having a little ugg slides. I'm like his Instagram,
- 28:54Speaker 1: I'll show you right now. He got all the baggy
- 28:57Speaker 1: ship on. Like he's like he of the ugslides. Bro Yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: the ugslides is joints is comfortable. But I always thought
- 29:05Speaker 1: ugs were for broads, you know what I'm saying, Like, Nah,
- 29:09Speaker 1: this fool is in Japan living it up. He's a
- 29:13Speaker 1: hooper back' he's twelve twelve twelve flying He just he's
- 29:21Speaker 1: just flying into fly ship. Yeah. You know it's crazy too,
- 29:24Speaker 1: because like I'm sure you got of man bagging baggy
- 29:28Speaker 1: ship being back. Yeah, whatever's wrong with it. It's not
- 29:32Speaker 1: it's nothing that it's wrong, it's just it's it's just crazy.
- 29:35Speaker 1: How baggy the ship's.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Getting but you ain't used to wear baggy ship of course.
- 29:41Speaker 1: But I'm like my older son is like trying to
- 29:44Speaker 1: get his hands on Jinkos. Older son twenty, I'm like, yo,
- 29:48Speaker 1: jink bro, you understand. I'm like, you understand, Like motherfuckers
- 29:51Speaker 1: used to all the white trash juggalos used to wear
- 29:53Speaker 1: Jinkos to shoplifted. They had the big pockets. Just go
- 29:57Speaker 1: to like fucking Jugglos. Is the clown face, Yeah, yeah,
- 30:02Speaker 1: Just It's just crazy how everything's full circle and there's
- 30:05Speaker 1: some of these funs shake Gilders. Now. I used to understand,
- 30:07Speaker 1: like your pa bro, So I'd be seeing the ship
- 30:10Speaker 1: SGA be wearing after these games and I'm like, yo,
- 30:12Speaker 1: this is.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I don't even be surprised by it, because you gotta
- 30:16Speaker 2: remember when I first came out, I was bringing back
- 30:19Speaker 2: Tommy Hill Fish.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah, cool g or all of that stuff. You know
- 30:24Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 30:24Speaker 2: You know, they're like, oh, that's why the old g's
- 30:26Speaker 2: was digging what I was doing because they could resonate
- 30:29Speaker 2: with what I was pulling out the box. And it's
- 30:32Speaker 2: the same thing with your kids. They seeing and then
- 30:34Speaker 2: you got the internet. Now that's going crazy. So beyond
- 30:37Speaker 2: even what you're looking at, they might tap into a
- 30:40Speaker 2: whole nother era.
- 30:41Speaker 1: They might go into the seventies. Motherfuckers is wearing the
- 30:43Speaker 1: hot topic pants and ship like the rave pants and
- 30:47Speaker 1: all kind of straps and chains and shit. I'm like,
- 30:49Speaker 1: the fuck is going on? I feel I definitely I
- 30:52Speaker 1: feel like I'm the old head for sure now, just
- 30:55Speaker 1: like you are.
- 30:58Speaker 2: I mean, hey, listen, I'm the cool all.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yo. When you guys first came out,
- 31:04Speaker 1: there was this narrative about how y'all didn't sound New
- 31:11Speaker 1: York enough, and you guys were because you guys were
- 31:14Speaker 1: so heavily influenced by everywhere. Right, was that ever something
- 31:17Speaker 1: y'all listened to or gave a fuck about?
- 31:19Speaker 2: Negative? Yeah, it's Internet. It's the Internet age. So we
- 31:23Speaker 2: were getting beats from beautiful lou Clams casino.
- 31:27Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Clams wasn't making beats like a Jersey person like, it
- 31:32Speaker 2: wasn't no sound at that point like we had we
- 31:35Speaker 2: had dipset and fifty cents a point of reference.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Yeah, you think about that, especially think about fifty fifties
- 31:41Speaker 1: wrapping over everything. Yeah, but yeah, but yeah, he but
- 31:45Speaker 1: fifty was one of the found like full for like
- 31:48Speaker 1: founding fathers of mixing it because when he went to
- 31:52Speaker 1: mess with Dre and came to the West Coast, he
- 31:55Speaker 1: rapping over West Coast type beats with a Southern slang yep,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and he had he had Young Buck with him exactly
- 32:04Speaker 1: that melody drum.
- 32:05Speaker 2: So we ain't really started. We just we learned.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah. No, it felt like you guys had such a uh.
- 32:15Speaker 2: To me and then and then also to you got
- 32:18Speaker 2: Cameron get It in the Ohio r.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Gas, don't forget about that album, doing the song, doing
- 32:24Speaker 1: the songs with master P and all of that, and
- 32:27Speaker 1: he did the Batter Batter remix and then he did
- 32:30Speaker 1: like the fucking on Purple Haze. He readed the Twister
- 32:33Speaker 1: and the Speeding Up Mobster's record.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like he was like a Southern hallm nigga,
- 32:38Speaker 2: Like with the the the loud pink, with the colored car,
- 32:43Speaker 2: the you know what I'm saying, Like the the loudness,
- 32:46Speaker 2: that's something like Southern ship, Like we loud in a
- 32:49Speaker 2: flamboyant way.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Where did the Houston influence come in on everything?
- 32:55Speaker 2: I feel like that was more so a Rocky thing. Yeah,
- 32:57Speaker 2: because Rocky was moving around, changing schools and.
- 33:01Speaker 1: All of that. Right, Yeah, that's fair.
- 33:04Speaker 2: But I just liked to chop and screw my shit,
- 33:07Speaker 2: and that came natural to me. I didn't know that,
- 33:10Speaker 2: Like it was a person named DJ Screw and the
- 33:14Speaker 2: bard Baby and all of the like Killer Colone and
- 33:17Speaker 2: all of these guys bun Be and all of these
- 33:19Speaker 2: dudes that was. I didn't put it all together until
- 33:22Speaker 2: I start moving around and I'm like, oh, this is
- 33:26Speaker 2: a culture.
- 33:27Speaker 1: How do you end up? Because I do feel like,
- 33:30Speaker 1: you know, your debut album, you have b Real on there,
- 33:32Speaker 1: you have bone Thugs? How do you end up getting Onyx? Yeah?
- 33:35Speaker 1: How do you figure out the Bone Thugs feature? Those
- 33:37Speaker 1: guys are hard to get to do much of anything.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I don't know. I just did it.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I don't even know who I reached out to to
- 33:46Speaker 2: get them, like or Onyx.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Onyx is crazy too, yeah, Like but in my mind,
- 33:54Speaker 1: like just creating like the song that I got asked
- 33:57Speaker 1: in Matthews on with with Doctor Green Thumb, I was
- 34:04Speaker 1: just like, yeah, they we have to bridge the gap.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Like I just was all about. My whole theory was
- 34:12Speaker 2: like to.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Create history you have to make history with history, so
- 34:15Speaker 1: like literally, like if I made a song with Bone Thugs,
- 34:19Speaker 1: then when you type their name in Google, you're gonna
- 34:21Speaker 1: see my name. It's almost like you were able to
- 34:23Speaker 1: pull the errors together on a project, Like you walk
- 34:25Speaker 1: on a record and then you had Bone on a record. Yep.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I feel like you've done that pretty well throughout your
- 34:31Speaker 1: whole career too.
- 34:32Speaker 2: You always pay homage. I had Shoba on a record,
- 34:35Speaker 2: shap I got on a shop a remix that's wild
- 34:38Speaker 2: by the way, shap I got on a shop of
- 34:40Speaker 2: remix with Buster Rohms and the Migos.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Damn, I forgot the Migos that might have been like
- 34:46Speaker 1: one of the first remixes they did ever. Yeah, I
- 34:49Speaker 1: mean that's when they first.
- 34:51Speaker 2: And I didn't ask them to do it. Yeah they
- 34:54Speaker 2: so I was rocking with them.
- 34:56Speaker 1: That's like when like Takeoff was like the main guy,
- 35:00Speaker 1: Like I think people forget, Like when they first came out,
- 35:02Speaker 1: Takeoff was like the dude who's flow everyone stole.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't know if they stole it. I think that
- 35:07Speaker 2: they would.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Because flow is takeoffs. I got so.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Many songs with these dudes, like and I seen a
- 35:17Speaker 2: process they literally got a telepathy because you know Quavo
- 35:22Speaker 2: on Takeoff as cousins yea, so like literally like I
- 35:26Speaker 2: watched Takeoff do a verse leave spaces open and Cuavo
- 35:33Speaker 2: fill them in m literally like literally like so back
- 35:39Speaker 2: at like before they got like on a super like
- 35:41Speaker 2: slow R and B like for all of the girls.
- 35:43Speaker 2: And Cuevo told me when he was gonna do that too.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Before that it was just straight trapping and the dolls
- 35:50Speaker 2: out there window like they was on something trap about
- 35:52Speaker 2: that band. Oh, I feel like I feel like Cuevo
- 35:55Speaker 2: getting back to that him now.
- 35:58Speaker 1: And he needs to ship. Yeah. What was the thought
- 36:01Speaker 1: process when you put Snoop Dogg on the East Coast
- 36:03Speaker 1: remix with everybody from New York?
- 36:07Speaker 2: That was Brian Leach's idea. He was like, Yo, just
- 36:11Speaker 2: get everybody, And I was just like yo, but you
- 36:14Speaker 2: had like I'm like, Snoop Dogg is from the West
- 36:17Speaker 2: Coast and uh Rick Ross is from the South. But
- 36:22Speaker 2: he was just like, yo, get everybody on there, like
- 36:24Speaker 2: you could represent all of the coasts. So it was
- 36:26Speaker 2: basically like a shout out.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, like like like like we're gonna like the originals
- 36:30Speaker 1: the East Coast Joint the What's so so funny about that? Though?
- 36:34Speaker 2: That video is that Snoop Dogg sent in for the video.
- 36:39Speaker 2: He sent in a video, an I phone video of
- 36:42Speaker 2: him in the studio doing his part, but he has
- 36:45Speaker 2: a bow tie on talking the most gangsteris shit ever? Like, Yo, bro,
- 36:52Speaker 2: if you look at that video right now, he has
- 36:54Speaker 2: a bow tie.
- 36:55Speaker 1: On, the King of the Side, quest Snoop Dogg.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Yo, I'm like, only this dude could get away with
- 37:00Speaker 2: this type of shit.
- 37:01Speaker 1: You're obviously you're building a Like when did you really
- 37:04Speaker 1: get kind of committed to building this fash or the
- 37:08Speaker 1: fitness thing you're doing. Because I saw you running with
- 37:11Speaker 1: with Nori and you know the fir Strong thing. I
- 37:14Speaker 1: saw you doing a boot camp. Yeah, makes me tired
- 37:16Speaker 1: of just watching it.
- 37:19Speaker 2: These are the things that I do with the camera off.
- 37:22Speaker 2: So like when I created the fag Strong song and
- 37:26Speaker 2: then the video, I was just like, Yo, I never
- 37:28Speaker 2: really married me working out with my songs because a
- 37:33Speaker 2: lot of people tell me they work out or they
- 37:34Speaker 2: train to my songs.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Athletes you do have all time workout records.
- 37:38Speaker 2: So I was like, yo, I need to insert myself
- 37:42Speaker 2: into it and see what happens with doing that because
- 37:44Speaker 2: I work out, so like, let me just show myself
- 37:47Speaker 2: doing it. And then I'm like, all right, what would
- 37:49Speaker 2: be better than myself working out, like working out with people.
- 37:52Speaker 2: So I started doing like these activations and running with people.
- 37:55Speaker 2: And it's also a part of my fitness journey too,
- 37:58Speaker 2: holding myself accountable, like whenever I try. I went to Japan,
- 38:01Speaker 2: and I'm like holding myself accountable by linking up with
- 38:04Speaker 2: these running groups so I can make sure that I
- 38:08Speaker 2: get my ship in when I'm traveling. So that's really
- 38:11Speaker 2: where it started.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Now it's like it's like it's a thing. That's
- 38:14Speaker 1: the thing. Yeah, it's a movement, burg Strong, burg Strong. Yeah. Yeah,
- 38:19Speaker 1: are you like actively like watching what you're eating? Ship?
- 38:23Speaker 1: For sure? Definitely.
- 38:24Speaker 2: I've always done that though, Like I've always been helf conscious.
- 38:27Speaker 2: My father died of a kidney failure, so like you know,
- 38:30Speaker 2: when he passed away.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Got teas fucking yoked. That's my uncle, Your uncle's.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he got the muscles that don't go away, but
- 38:38Speaker 2: he can eat whatever he wants. Yeah I can't. I
- 38:42Speaker 2: can't follow him. I literally thought about that yesterday. I'm like, yo,
- 38:45Speaker 2: his breed is different, like his makeup is differentabolism just
- 38:49Speaker 2: it's built different.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Bro.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Yeah, heat a light skin version, so I don't know,
- 38:52Speaker 2: like skin people would get away with other stuff.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yo, when you did Plane Jane, did you send it
- 38:56Speaker 1: to Juicy j before it came out, like to be like, hey,
- 39:00Speaker 1: look what I did. I flipped the slop on my knob. Shit.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I didn't send it to him, but I got him
- 39:05Speaker 1: on a version that's in the video. But I just
- 39:08Speaker 1: I was just wondering, like if you were working on
- 39:10Speaker 1: it initially, like you set it off to be like
- 39:12Speaker 1: hey check this out, like this is what I'm cooking
- 39:14Speaker 1: right now. Nah.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Nah, I don't think I did that, but I sent
- 39:18Speaker 2: it to him to get on and I have a
- 39:20Speaker 2: version with him on it. So if you watch the
- 39:22Speaker 2: Plane Jane video, yeah there's it's a clip of him rapping.
- 39:26Speaker 2: You hear him rapping like literally like eight bars and
- 39:30Speaker 2: yeah that's the only.
- 39:33Speaker 1: So that was supposed to be like an Easter egg
- 39:34Speaker 1: back then. I don't know if anybody picked it up.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Did NICKI just get on it on her own? No?
- 39:41Speaker 1: Or did you guys we was in the studio together. Yeah,
- 39:43Speaker 1: oh so you guys are in the studio.
- 39:45Speaker 2: It was a few different people that called me to
- 39:47Speaker 2: get on the remix, but the Nikky one felt.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It kind of feels like, if she gets on it,
- 39:52Speaker 1: that's enough.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna do I wasn't gonna do it at all.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna I was turning things down, like but
- 40:00Speaker 2: then I thought it would be dope because I didn't
- 40:03Speaker 2: want a bunch of dudes just coming to my show.
- 40:06Speaker 2: For sure, Nikki, she's gonna have the shorties pull up
- 40:10Speaker 2: so and.
- 40:10Speaker 1: It just felt like a New York moment, like she's
- 40:12Speaker 1: talking that ship like, yeah, she's a I mean, she's
- 40:15Speaker 1: Nicki Minaj. It's crazy because during that era, there's just
- 40:20Speaker 1: two songs that were the same BPM that everybody played
- 40:23Speaker 1: back to back. It was that No Limit Oh Yeah
- 40:27Speaker 1: with GZ and Rocky came out first. But I'm saying,
- 40:30Speaker 1: like I'm just saying, I'm just saying, I'm just saying no,
- 40:32Speaker 1: but I'm saying, if you went to the club during that,
- 40:35Speaker 1: you would hear the plane Jane fucking No Limit back
- 40:39Speaker 1: to back. No, I'm not gonna lie to this day.
- 40:41Speaker 2: By the way, I'm not gonna little that No Limit
- 40:45Speaker 2: beat slaps so.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Hard, crazy Rocky killed that show.
- 40:48Speaker 2: The moment that I heard it, I'm in the club
- 40:51Speaker 2: in New York. I forget the name of the club.
- 40:55Speaker 2: He was in the club and they playing playing Jane.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I'm having my moment, sh it is going crazy. And
- 41:01Speaker 2: then Gez is literally across from me, and then they.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Said we got the new g Easy No Limit record.
- 41:09Speaker 2: And then they dropped that ship. I'm like, whoa what
- 41:13Speaker 2: it sounded like playing James but on crack. Yeah, that
- 41:16Speaker 2: was because it was just a deeper that beats same bpm,
- 41:22Speaker 2: but a deeper like that. Shit just sound meaner crazy.
- 41:27Speaker 2: We went on together too.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Me and g Great guy, man, great guy. He's a
- 41:31Speaker 1: fun hang He lives in New York now too, he does.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I don't know if the world was to know that.
- 41:36Speaker 1: I think everyone knows that he posted NonStop. Yeah, shout
- 41:39Speaker 1: to Gerald what what was? Because I feel like we've
- 41:43Speaker 1: had to wait between bodies and work with you for
- 41:45Speaker 1: a while. We should have named our tour Gerald Lferg.
- 41:49Speaker 1: I like that.
- 41:49Speaker 2: That'd have been fire Gerald Laferg.
- 41:53Speaker 1: He's very fun guy to party with. Hey, we gotta
- 41:57Speaker 1: wrap up this interview another one presented by Hardin Baby
- 42:00Speaker 1: you already know what it is. Shout out to Hardeen
- 42:03Speaker 1: for presenting another episode of the Bootleg Cab podcast. Don't
- 42:05Speaker 1: forget when you're in Vegas, you're getting that tax, you
- 42:08Speaker 1: getting that uber Say take me to Hardean, the number
- 42:10Speaker 1: one cannabis dispensary in the world. Premium selection of the
- 42:14Speaker 1: craziest gas you could ever ask for, and then they
- 42:17Speaker 1: break down all what all the terps mean. It's incredible.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Go to Harden Underscore Las Vegas. Shoot them a follow,
- 42:22Speaker 1: and when you're in Las Vegas and make sure you
- 42:24Speaker 1: shoot them a visit. Hey, don't forget to go to
- 42:26Speaker 1: bootleg keV dot com. You know, we had to celebrate
- 42:28Speaker 1: the two year anniversary of the most viral interview of
- 42:30Speaker 1: all time. Throw the shirt up so you could see it.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I turned it down. Shout out to that boy, Big Boogie,
- 42:35Speaker 1: a big college in Jacksonville, and we just threw these
- 42:38Speaker 1: on sale half off for the five hundred episode t
- 42:42Speaker 1: bootleg keV dot Com. Go get you a shirt. Let's
- 42:44Speaker 1: get back to the interview. I love how we're getting
- 42:46Speaker 1: more output from you. Immediately after last year's album. I
- 42:48Speaker 1: thought last year's album was dope because it was kind
- 42:50Speaker 1: of like your most introspective project, personal project. Fast forward
- 42:54Speaker 1: to this new album that's coming. First of all, you
- 42:57Speaker 1: got the battery in your back right now, because I
- 42:59Speaker 1: feel like usually we got to wait a few years
- 43:00Speaker 1: to get a first project. What is it about, like
- 43:03Speaker 1: just this moment where you're just locked in and tell
- 43:06Speaker 1: me about the new album too.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I feel liberated dropping that last project because, like you said,
- 43:10Speaker 2: it was so introspective and I had this, I had
- 43:14Speaker 2: it on me, like I like trying to create that
- 43:17Speaker 2: project for so long and wanting to create that creative masterpiece.
- 43:22Speaker 2: I feel like people not even really gonna fully internalize
- 43:28Speaker 2: that album into you know, years to come. But those
- 43:32Speaker 2: each song on that project, it takes so much to
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's a lot, it's a lot of information on that album.
- 43:39Speaker 2: But it like with me dropping like the music right after.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Like I've always wanted to just be more consistent with
- 43:45Speaker 2: dropping music like every year instead of.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Like waiting three years, three years and all of that.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Because the four season was twenty nineteen, I don't.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Even know, but I know, like it's like two three
- 43:55Speaker 2: years apart, like all my albums, that's usually how I
- 43:58Speaker 2: do it, but I'm not I want on us like
- 44:00Speaker 2: because I'm always recorded, I'm never not recording, and I
- 44:04Speaker 2: just right after I put out that album, like I
- 44:06Speaker 2: was recording, and you know, I look up and I
- 44:09Speaker 2: had a project together.
- 44:10Speaker 1: So I just wanted to wave flow exactly. What do
- 44:14Speaker 1: you have a title for the new project? It's called
- 44:16Speaker 1: flip Phone Shorty. Flip Phone Shorty, lip phone Shorty? What
- 44:19Speaker 1: inspires that is just the era of ring tone? We got?
- 44:24Speaker 1: We got, we got some flip phone Shorty vibes on there.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. This album is crack. This
- 44:30Speaker 2: this I ain't gonna lie. This might be one of
- 44:34Speaker 2: my best projects. And for a different reason than like
- 44:37Speaker 2: Darryl and like trap Lord and just like it. This
- 44:41Speaker 2: is sonically another level wrapping another level. Like It's just
- 44:49Speaker 2: I don't even want to talk too much about it
- 44:51Speaker 2: because I feel like I'm gonna be a like Corny
- 44:53Speaker 2: just chatting about it.
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'd rather listen to it. Who's on the album?
- 44:57Speaker 2: So we got Gucci Man on the album? Okay, we
- 45:00Speaker 2: got low B on the.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Album, the Fucking Base God, the West Coast Swag. We
- 45:09Speaker 1: got a witch on the album That's a Fire. Yeah,
- 45:13Speaker 1: we got who else we got on the album? We
- 45:15Speaker 1: got french Man ten on the album you Gotta get
- 45:18Speaker 1: Max be on there man, get over the get it
- 45:21Speaker 1: over the goal line. You know you gotta let him,
- 45:24Speaker 1: You gotta let him live life alone.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I just he almost was about to do
- 45:28Speaker 2: seventy five joints.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I know. It's like, yo, man, hey, he might have
- 45:32Speaker 1: the best first day out ever. That motherfucker went straight
- 45:35Speaker 1: to the Jets game. Yeah, he was on the field
- 45:38Speaker 1: like It's almost like he didn't miss a beat for real.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Who else I got on an album? I missed somebody,
- 45:47Speaker 2: I said, Gucci Man. Yeah, Oh, I got my artist
- 45:53Speaker 2: Hunter Hunter Bead and one the album It's Fire Super Fire.
- 45:57Speaker 1: How often do you and Rocky can I got? I
- 45:59Speaker 1: got se Lo on the album Seo Green. Yeah, man,
- 46:03Speaker 1: but that goodie mob Seelo. You got singing Sea Loo,
- 46:05Speaker 1: which kind of Sea Low. We got on here because
- 46:06Speaker 1: there's there's so many versions. You gotta wait and see
- 46:09Speaker 1: se Lo. I don't think people people forget that he
- 46:12Speaker 1: could wrap his ass off now he obviously you gotta
- 46:15Speaker 1: gotta wait and see. But I say, how often do
- 46:17Speaker 1: you in Rocky communicate these days? I haven't spoke to
- 46:19Speaker 1: Rocky in a minute. Yeah, it's just so busy, you know,
- 46:22Speaker 1: just having a family, don't know, Yeah, like we just
- 46:27Speaker 1: being grown Yeah yeah, yeah. Was it crazy to kind
- 46:30Speaker 1: of watch that whole trial take place with former friends
- 46:34Speaker 1: that was all in the same crew together. Had to
- 46:36Speaker 1: be just a wild thing. It's weird. It was so real.
- 46:39Speaker 1: It was like, nah, who would have thought we'd end
- 46:43Speaker 1: up here type ship? Yeah, very much. So You've been
- 46:48Speaker 1: pretty good to like I feel like staying out of
- 46:50Speaker 1: any of like the negative energy that is came from that.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Yeah, like I came here to have a good time
- 46:59Speaker 2: and then joying myself and you know, live this life
- 47:05Speaker 2: like I'm not. I never really like I always we
- 47:10Speaker 2: come from a lot of like bullshit. So it's like
- 47:12Speaker 2: I don't I don't really want to dive into that,
- 47:15Speaker 2: especially at this level.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Like right, what would you see yourself ever doing? Like
- 47:21Speaker 1: I feel like we're gonna get like a twenty five
- 47:24Speaker 1: year anniversary asap mob towards some ship.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Oh I hit Rocky every year about like yeah, what
- 47:30Speaker 2: are we doing?
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yeah, like people want it.
- 47:34Speaker 2: It's so for me that type of ship is easy,
- 47:37Speaker 2: but I understand that, like you know, when it's when
- 47:39Speaker 2: it's gonna happen. It's gonna happen when it's supposed to happen.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Who do you have on your Harlem Mount Rushmore? If
- 47:47Speaker 2: you got to exclude your crew, by the way, let's
- 47:49Speaker 2: exclude how we're gonna do that because because that's the rules,
- 47:52Speaker 2: I'm making the rules here?
- 47:53Speaker 1: Wait, it is it? Is it a certain amount of
- 47:55Speaker 1: people that can put up there for one with a
- 47:58Speaker 1: in front of their name, Big L One shout out
- 48:03Speaker 1: to Big L Flamboyant Entertainment for life? Can we do
- 48:08Speaker 1: dip set as a whole? I'll let you cheat. Go ahead,
- 48:11Speaker 1: dip set, dip set, mm hmm, dip said paulam Rushmore.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Maybe Mace, Yeah, Mace, of course, Mace one more.
- 48:31Speaker 2: We gotta say Mace, like with the whole bad Boy.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Of course, I mean all of them? Yeah, Mace. Who
- 48:39Speaker 1: else am I missing berg without the asap in the front?
- 48:50Speaker 1: Oh God, damn, I got you with that one. Jesus
- 48:59Speaker 1: is is cute tip from Harlem? Hell? No? I think
- 49:03Speaker 1: so there's some queens. I would have felt bad if
- 49:05Speaker 1: you was like, what who is from Harlem? Black Robers
- 49:10Speaker 1: from Harlem? Right? Yeah? Black rob Depth. She Depp's first album,
- 49:15Speaker 1: Child of the ghetto was crazy. I don't listen to that.
- 49:18Speaker 1: So in the car bro it's so good. It's smoke disneys, fire, smoke, disness, fire,
- 49:23Speaker 1: shout outs to smoke. Now I think, I think, uh, I.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Think we're a small community, man, This is true. We
- 49:30Speaker 2: have like fourteen I don't want to I don't want
- 49:34Speaker 2: to say it. We have a very small population in Harlem.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Is Davies from Marlon, Yes he is. I mean you
- 49:42Speaker 2: could fund put Davies right there.
- 49:44Speaker 1: I'd rather put myself there. Yeah, but that's that's cheating.
- 49:48Speaker 1: You guys are implied. What you mean, you're implied. It's
- 49:51Speaker 1: implied that you guys are on the Mount Rushmore obviously.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, sure you fucking they sat mob of course
- 49:57Speaker 1: gotta be like what yeah, yeah, Big L. Though you
- 50:02Speaker 1: like the new Big L album Fire, you know what
- 50:05Speaker 1: it is. I'm so used to hearing some of the
- 50:07Speaker 1: vocals on that album, like on the z yeah, like
- 50:13Speaker 1: on the internet how they were recorded, so to hear
- 50:15Speaker 1: them kind of like on the leads, it just was like,
- 50:19Speaker 1: I like the Macmillan like there's some shit on there,
- 50:21Speaker 1: Like I really wish they would have included a Devil's
- 50:23Speaker 1: Son on there because Devil's Son is like a big
- 50:25Speaker 1: l song that is like crazy and it's just on
- 50:29Speaker 1: the internet. Yeah, but you know it's like him talking
- 50:32Speaker 1: about like raping nuns and shit, you know what I mean?
- 50:35Speaker 1: Like that was he was a movie. He was on
- 50:37Speaker 1: that horror core shit. Pretty crazy. Listen to the new
- 50:40Speaker 1: album's coming out with the flip phone shorty we coming
- 50:43Speaker 1: before the Years Out, Before the Years Out, for the
- 50:45Speaker 1: Years Out. How can people like, if you are going
- 50:49Speaker 1: to a city, do you do like a fir strong
- 50:51Speaker 1: workout announcement? Like how do people get in your boot
- 50:54Speaker 1: camp or whatever the fuck you got going on? Stay
- 50:57Speaker 1: tuned you'll see, like me post different sta. This gun
- 51:00Speaker 1: has got the one want to Runner club Yeah, the
- 51:03Speaker 1: wan A Runner. Yeah, you got the ferd Strong, the
- 51:06Speaker 1: fd Strong. Yeah.
- 51:08Speaker 2: I also got a festival. It's a it's a health
- 51:10Speaker 2: and wellness festival. It's called flow Fair. I did my
- 51:13Speaker 2: first one this year.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Yeah, tell me about that because that's yeah.
- 51:17Speaker 2: That's on my Instagram too. Like so basically my father
