We've talked about the fountain, the water, and the ducks before. Now let's describe them. Luna: Oh, I love that. So instead of just naming things, we can say if they're pretty or cool? Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with the fountain itself. La fuente. Repeat after me: la fuente. Luna: La fuente. Lucas: Good. Now, to say 'the fountain is pretty', we say: La fuente es bonita. Luna: La fuente es bonita. Lucas: Perfect. Bonita means pretty. So if you're at a nice fountain, you can say: La fuente es bonita. Luna: La fuente es bonita. I can imagine saying that to a friend. Lucas: Sure. Now, what about the water? El agua. Luna: El agua. Lucas: To say 'the water is clean', we say: El agua está limpia. Luna: El agua está limpia. Limpia means clean? Lucas: Yes. So if the water looks clear, you can comment: El agua está limpia. Luna: El agua está limpia. That's useful. Lucas: Now, the ducks. Los patos. Luna: Los patos. Lucas: To say 'the ducks are funny', we say: Los patos son graciosos. Luna: Los patos son graciosos. Graciosos means funny? Lucas: Yes. So if you see ducks doing silly things, you can say: Los patos son graciosos. Luna: Los patos son graciosos. I love that. Lucas: And finally, a simple expression: Me gusta la fuente. That means 'I like the fountain'. Luna: Me gusta la fuente. Lucas: Great. Let's practice all four in a row. Repeat after me: La fuente es bonita. Luna: La fuente es bonita. Lucas: El agua está limpia. Luna: El agua está limpia. Lucas: Los patos son graciosos. Luna: Los patos son graciosos. Lucas: Me gusta la fuente. Luna: Me gusta la fuente. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's imagine we're at the fountain together. You look at it and say: La fuente es bonita. Luna: La fuente es bonita. Lucas: I look at the water and say: El agua está limpia. Luna: El agua está limpia. Lucas: Then we see ducks, and you say: Los patos son graciosos. Luna: Los patos son graciosos. Lucas: And I say: Me gusta la fuente. Luna: Me gusta la fuente.
