- 0:03Speaker 1: All right, man, we hear at the main events because
- 0:09Speaker 1: everybody always got something to say when we talk about
- 0:15Speaker 1: So here we go man. Drake and Party next Door
- 0:20Speaker 1: dropped their Long Way To album. It's something that both
- 0:23Speaker 1: of their fans have been waiting for for a long time.
- 0:26Speaker 1: They've been making music forever, they've been collaborating forever, they've
- 0:29Speaker 1: been involved in each other's albums.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Canada from Canada.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like it's kind of long overdue as a
- 0:38Speaker 1: as a Drake or Party next Door fan, long overdue,
- 0:41Speaker 1: just even like them being label mates, you know what
- 0:45Speaker 1: I mean. And something that you mentioned that a couple
- 0:48Speaker 1: other people mentioned as well, was like that the album
- 0:50Speaker 1: seemed like it was kind of more like songs that
- 0:55Speaker 1: maybe he asked him to get on already, you know
- 1:00Speaker 1: what I mean, like kind of like stap together. There's
- 1:03Speaker 1: little theories coming now saying that Drake kind of did
- 1:06Speaker 1: that as an f you to universal the way like
- 1:11Speaker 1: logistically it was done and everything like that.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, because if you look at the credits on any
- 1:17Speaker 2: stream and app, it's ovo sound. It is not any
- 1:20Speaker 2: record label.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So it's definitely a thing where the situation surrounding the
- 1:27Speaker 1: music could make it really easy for you not to
- 1:31Speaker 1: just zone in on the music. And so we're gonna
- 1:34Speaker 1: do it two ways here. We're gonna just talk about
- 1:37Speaker 1: the music, and we're gonna talk about like circumstances, the
- 1:40Speaker 1: content on it and all that stuff. So me, my
- 1:45Speaker 1: immediate reaction as somebody that's not necessarily a big Drake
- 1:50Speaker 1: fan is raps. But I'm a big fan of Drake singing,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but I'm not necessarily a big fan of Party next Door.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So I like Drake's singing records more or than I
- 2:00Speaker 1: like Party next Door, if that makes sense, you know
- 2:03Speaker 1: what I mean. So I like the intro to CN
- 2:07Speaker 1: Tower kind of gave me like so far gone type vibes.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I like the way that he approached that record, the
- 2:14Speaker 1: sound of it. I like the heartfeltness, Like I like
- 2:19Speaker 1: the honest Drake, you know what I'm saying. Like, that's
- 2:21Speaker 1: that's what I like that. I mean, that's pretty much
- 2:23Speaker 1: any artist.
- 2:23Speaker 2: But like I like the.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Candide, you know, the easily relatable, palatable stuff, you know
- 2:30Speaker 1: what I mean. So I like that CN Tower joint
- 2:34Speaker 1: honestly bro from then on, bang with it. I pretty
- 2:38Speaker 1: much didn't like anything until that, uh, that one song
- 2:42Speaker 1: that I sent you. I'm trying to find the name
- 2:44Speaker 1: of it here. Is it Die Trying, Die Trying. I
- 2:49Speaker 1: liked a lot I liked. I like the lyrics on
- 2:52Speaker 1: that joint, the way that that him and and and
- 2:55Speaker 1: Party approached it, Yeba's on that joint. But overall, man,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I just I really didn't like it. I don't like
- 3:04Speaker 1: the I don't know, I feel like some of the
- 3:09Speaker 1: songs were too long with no purpose. I kind of
- 3:13Speaker 1: didn't like how you said, like it just it did
- 3:15Speaker 1: kind of feel like kind of thrown together. It was
- 3:17Speaker 1: like the party next door would come in and sometimes
- 3:20Speaker 1: I wouldn't even catch that it was party next door
- 3:22Speaker 1: because it's just gonna sound like more of the same thing.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there was a couple of parts where I
- 3:27Speaker 2: could have deferition between the both of them.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yeah, And it wasn't like you said, there wasn't too
- 3:31Speaker 1: much like cohesiveness where it was like I felt like
- 3:34Speaker 1: they were really collaborating, you know what I mean. Like
- 3:36Speaker 1: it just really kind of felt like I.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Felt like it was already pre recorded Drake track and
- 3:40Speaker 2: he's like, yo, just redo my verse for me, And
- 3:43Speaker 2: it sounded exactly like if it was Drake doing the
- 3:45Speaker 2: verse and I didn't like that. I'm so listening to it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I didn't like that, but you could tell you could.
- 3:50Speaker 2: There's a little bit significance between what a collab track
- 3:55Speaker 2: would be where Party brings his flow and his sound
- 4:00Speaker 2: and Drake brings his sound on a newly produced beat
- 4:03Speaker 2: or something that already existed. That's fine, but it's like,
- 4:08Speaker 2: replace my verse with yours and try to sound like
- 4:11Speaker 2: me kind of vibe. That was my first impression for sure.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and even his fans I kind of see like
- 4:18Speaker 1: a big split as far as the reception of the
- 4:21Speaker 1: album kind of reminds me of when he dropped honestly Nevermind, Yes,
- 4:24Speaker 1: where it was like a thing where like people were
- 4:27Speaker 1: kind of like on either side of it, you know
- 4:29Speaker 1: what I mean. But honestly, never Mind is actually my
- 4:31Speaker 1: favorite Drake.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the thing for me. Drake drops albums
- 4:35Speaker 2: to demographics, right, and a bunch of my and it's funny,
- 4:39Speaker 2: A bunch of my homeboys said, I don't know if
- 4:42Speaker 2: I'm feeling it. These are sexy songs for you. These
- 4:47Speaker 2: ain't for the homeboys, These are for the ladies. They
- 4:50Speaker 2: made songs for the women.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And that came out on Valentine's and that's something Party
- 4:55Speaker 1: next Door was saying, like kind of just talking to
- 4:58Speaker 1: all the people like the lies in it, trying to
- 5:01Speaker 1: trying to see the Kendrick angle of it, or like
- 5:04Speaker 1: trying to you don't need a dictionary.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You don't need a dictionary for this album.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah. So it was like one of those things where
- 5:10Speaker 1: it's like Party next Door was saying, bro, this is
- 5:12Speaker 1: a song to get women to like, get a life, nerd, basically.
- 5:16Speaker 2: To get the buns too.
- 5:17Speaker 1: He said it a little more, you know, a little
- 5:20Speaker 1: unpeg basically, he said, get a life, nerd. This this
- 5:23Speaker 1: is about girls.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I was dead with the homies and
- 5:28Speaker 2: like my boy's talking about he's playing it with his
- 5:30Speaker 2: wife and he's like, I don't know if I'm feeling it. Bro,
- 5:32Speaker 2: this is not an album listen to in front of
- 5:34Speaker 2: your wife, like this is. This is not for loyal
- 5:38Speaker 2: that the devoted women. This is not this is for
- 5:41Speaker 2: the party. This is for the party, for the people,
- 5:44Speaker 2: the single people, the people out there you know, give
- 5:48Speaker 2: me and give me hugs. The only one who we
- 5:50Speaker 2: actually split a verse too. And that's when he he
- 5:52Speaker 2: got a couple of jobs. He's like, what do you say?
- 5:55Speaker 1: He's like, was that the one that he was like
- 5:58Speaker 1: wrapping off beating the intro?
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, but he had some good bars though.
- 6:01Speaker 2: He has so people want to see me on his shirt.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Like, so now let's transition into like the speculation and
- 6:08Speaker 1: all that stuff. So going off of what you just said,
- 6:13Speaker 1: it's some sexy songs for you. He starts the album
- 6:18Speaker 1: with like, I don't know if you peeped it, but
- 6:20Speaker 1: in the first song he says something along the lines
- 6:24Speaker 1: of like I'm a fan in real life, which is
- 6:27Speaker 1: what Kendrick called him fan fan. So like right when
- 6:32Speaker 1: that hit, I was like, damn, bro, like you you
- 6:35Speaker 1: already on this. You know what I'm saying, Like you
- 6:37Speaker 1: could tell you could hear the overtunes of the Kendrick
- 6:41Speaker 1: Beef in the album he had working with a dictionary.
- 6:48Speaker 2: He said, fuck that beef ship. I'm trying to make
- 6:50Speaker 2: some party ship. He even had that one bar he said,
- 6:53Speaker 2: we not like them, baby, and they're not like us.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I mean, it's so funny because Kendrick, I mean, Drake
- 7:00Speaker 1: fans are so pressed to say Kendrick is only thinking
- 7:03Speaker 1: about Drake all the time freaking R and B album
- 7:09Speaker 1: and he's.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Because you know why. And then like he's doing you know,
- 7:13Speaker 2: he's doing a tour in Australia, He's doing a bunch
- 7:15Speaker 2: of shows. He's headlining the festival in London in July.
- 7:21Speaker 2: But he's not dropping a rap album yet. But he's
- 7:23Speaker 2: telling everybody he's going to. But he know it ain't
- 7:26Speaker 2: the time to drop right because everybody's gonna do that.
- 7:28Speaker 2: They're gonna analyze his rap album and see all you
- 7:31Speaker 2: still can't rap as good as Kendrick. And he's smart,
- 7:34Speaker 2: he's strategic, I give him that, but that's why he's like,
- 7:38Speaker 2: what can I do? I could drop an R and
- 7:40Speaker 2: B outright? That something? What can Kendrick not do right now?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Drop an R and B album? So I'm gonna do that.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah, man, It's definitely as far as the music goes,
- 7:51Speaker 1: it didn't really hit for me. There's a couple of
- 7:53Speaker 1: dope songs on it, but just didn't really hit for me.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It seems like the people that like that kind of stuff,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I really enjoyed it, you know what I mean. And
- 8:01Speaker 1: people are rocking with that Nokia song to get a
- 8:04Speaker 1: song definitely hearing about those two mostly, I don't really
- 8:09Speaker 1: hear too much about the other ones. I am seeing
- 8:11Speaker 1: a lot of people quoting the song that I was
- 8:14Speaker 1: mentioning the Die Trying, a lot of people quoting Die Trying.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I see that he let me tell you what he
- 8:19Speaker 2: did with give Me a Hug. Though that's the one
- 8:20Speaker 2: that he rapped on the beginning. He switched to be
- 8:22Speaker 2: three times, so it started off with him rapping, and
- 8:25Speaker 2: he switched it into an RB song like pretty much
- 8:27Speaker 2: like what's the care for Me?
- 8:31Speaker 1: Care for Me?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Nice for what? It pretty much went from a rap like, Oh,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna give you this rap, and then let me
- 8:37Speaker 2: turn it into a nice for what for you'all because
- 8:39Speaker 2: everybody's gonna want to jop vibe to this, and then yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Man, it was definitely something where people kind of used
- 8:50Speaker 1: it to fuel the Kendrick and Drake thing, because that's
- 8:53Speaker 1: the thing that's hitting right now, and I find it again.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I'm not a big Drake fan. I would say I
- 9:00Speaker 1: like maybe five percent of his music, But I'm seeing
- 9:04Speaker 1: this article on Hip Hop DX. The title of the
- 9:07Speaker 1: article is Drake faces another loss to Kendrick Lamar with
- 9:12Speaker 1: underwhelming some sexy songs for you sales bruh, And then
- 9:18Speaker 1: the second paragraph on this thing says, well, I'm not
- 9:22Speaker 1: even gonna read the first line because it's just them
- 9:25Speaker 1: throwing more jabs at them. But is on track to
- 9:28Speaker 1: earn around two hundred and fifty thousand equivalent units in
- 9:31Speaker 1: his first week, and the album is expected to debut
- 9:34Speaker 1: at number one on the Billboard two hundred, earning Drake
- 9:37Speaker 1: his fourteenth chart topper, putting him at level with Jay
- 9:40Speaker 1: Z and five behind record holder The Beater, the Beatles
- 9:43Speaker 1: and parties first. But they're trying to say it'll be
- 9:48Speaker 1: the fifth lowest selling of Drake's career and kind of
- 9:52Speaker 1: saying like bro cut all the bullshit, number one album,
- 10:00Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty thousand units.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Like even when he's doing bad, he's real good though.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Like what are you talking about?
- 10:06Speaker 2: How are you?
- 10:07Speaker 1: How is this a loss to Kenvick Lamar? He just
- 10:09Speaker 1: dropped the number one album with not being such in
- 10:14Speaker 1: favor with the labels and stuff. The numbers went down.
- 10:17Speaker 1: You know why the numbers went down because the machine
- 10:20Speaker 1: that was behind you is not behind you the same way.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Fifty cent said it, fifty ten said it, and Cookie
- 10:25Speaker 2: I don't want to go die deep dive. But fifty
- 10:26Speaker 2: cent said it. Everything that Drake is suing for it
- 10:30Speaker 2: is true, But they've done the same for Drake facts.
- 10:34Speaker 2: It's nothing they haven't done for him before. And guess what,
- 10:37Speaker 2: they ain't doing it for him? No more facts.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And then the thing people got to understand, man, is like,
- 10:43Speaker 1: because I have posted something on threads about it that
- 10:46Speaker 1: people was like trying to flame me for Basically I
- 10:49Speaker 1: was saying, the same people that want to discount of
- 10:53Speaker 1: Grammys when they're Drake fans, you can't then turn around
- 10:57Speaker 1: and give numbers to support Drake's. The same way the
- 11:01Speaker 1: Grammys is a fabricated thing is the same way the
- 11:04Speaker 1: numbers is fabricated. There's a little truth in both, Like
- 11:07Speaker 1: if you get a Grammy for Best Album or a
- 11:10Speaker 1: Best Song, whatever, yeah it will warranted that. But at
- 11:13Speaker 1: the same time it's a political thing. The same thing
- 11:16Speaker 1: with numbers, Bro. People want to say numbers are bro.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Numbers are literally just Hey, I'm putting you in front
- 11:22Speaker 1: of a bigger audience, so I'm casting a wider net.
- 11:27Speaker 1: If your net isn't as wide, Bro, you could be
- 11:29Speaker 1: a better fisherman than somebody mile long net that he
- 11:34Speaker 1: can cast a mile long man in the ocean and
- 11:36Speaker 1: your net is ten feet, bro, you could be a
- 11:38Speaker 1: million times better than him, but he's gonna catch more fishing.
- 11:41Speaker 2: And you have to be in their favor and you
- 11:43Speaker 2: have to be aligning to what their goals are and
- 11:47Speaker 2: what they want you to be and not take it
- 11:49Speaker 2: away from Kenrick because that's every single garden and that's
- 11:51Speaker 2: what you got to do to succeed. But it's like
- 11:53Speaker 2: one Drake pushed away from that and he's like, no,
- 11:55Speaker 2: I want to do my all thing. That's what all
- 11:57Speaker 2: these conversations talking about, Oh Drake would be so big
- 12:00Speaker 2: of he was independent. He's not trying to do that.
- 12:02Speaker 2: He's not trying to support that. He wants to use
- 12:05Speaker 2: a label for what they're good for and let them
- 12:07Speaker 2: do that work. But once you go against what they're doing.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But this was kind of like a nice little experiment
- 12:12Speaker 1: for Drake because think about it this way, Like you said,
- 12:15Speaker 1: it didn't come out on Universal. This album came out
- 12:18Speaker 1: through Ovio and Santa Ana, so it didn't come through
- 12:22Speaker 1: Universal at all. And it's not even you can't even
- 12:27Speaker 1: completely tie it to Drake because it is a collab album,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like a fan might see
- 12:34Speaker 1: party next door, they don't who party next door? They're
- 12:36Speaker 1: gonna skip. They're not even gonna see that, It says
- 12:37Speaker 1: Drake like the everyday fan. And the album since it
- 12:41Speaker 1: wasn't on a major, it didn't have the budget that
- 12:43Speaker 1: he usually has for his albums. So for him to
- 12:46Speaker 1: still come out number one with a collab album after
- 12:48Speaker 1: losing a beef that bad, how are you gonna come
- 12:52Speaker 1: out with an article saying he's taking another at all?
- 12:55Speaker 1: And like I said, Bro, this is coming from a
- 12:57Speaker 1: person that's not a fan. Bro.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Laughter. When I posted your Madre track, that Spanish track,
- 13:05Speaker 2: this guy thought it was a joke.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Bro. When I saw that meet your product, because I
- 13:10Speaker 1: had seen that on a TikTok, right, But the way
- 13:15Speaker 1: I saw it, like in the way they did the video,
- 13:17Speaker 1: it sounded like some AI or something, you know what
- 13:19Speaker 1: I mean. I was laughing, like, Bro, this is funny, Bru.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Then you sending the chat the link to the song,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and I played the little preview because when you send
- 13:28Speaker 1: the lyrics to hear the actual part, which I think
- 13:30Speaker 1: is mad dope. But when I played the preview and
- 13:34Speaker 1: then I went to the song. I'm like, Bro, this
- 13:36Speaker 1: is a song.
- 13:37Speaker 2: On I've never seen this guy send so many laugh
- 13:40Speaker 2: emojis in a chat in my life.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Dog, I couldn't believe it. Bro, I was like, dog,
- 13:46Speaker 1: what is this?
- 13:47Speaker 2: Like?
- 13:47Speaker 1: What do you do?
- 13:48Speaker 2: But I don't want to And that's one thing I
- 13:50Speaker 2: didn't want to get too deep in the chat about it.
- 13:52Speaker 2: But you can't take away from what that style of
- 13:55Speaker 2: song is. That's the scene the lord. That's the Mexican
- 13:57Speaker 2: kind of cultures as a plessor plum my sound. And
- 14:00Speaker 2: and Gino I'm actually a fan of. They already had
- 14:02Speaker 2: a clap in last year and the song sounds exactly
- 14:06Speaker 2: like that. But it's his song with a Drake feature
- 14:08Speaker 2: and Drakes singing the Spanish. That's that style of music
- 14:11Speaker 2: that it shouldn't sound anything other than what that sounds like.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So this is my my take on it, like like
- 14:19Speaker 1: diving into it musically. And I'm gonna use this example.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Usher and Romeo Santos, they dropped that. They dropped that song.
- 14:31Speaker 1: You hear it, bro, And you could tell Usher took
- 14:34Speaker 1: that serious. Bro. You know he sung the Spanish the
- 14:36Speaker 1: right way. The song was a hit. Is a banger.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Bro Bush is an R and B artist, I know,
- 14:42Speaker 2: but Dog.
- 14:44Speaker 1: When I listen said I need your padre thing, Bro,
- 14:46Speaker 1: it sounds like a parody song. It sounds like some snl.
- 14:49Speaker 2: But that's how he sounds. It sounded in me. That's
- 14:52Speaker 2: how he sounded. And the bad Buddy track ridiculous. Bro,
- 14:55Speaker 2: he my bro scheme trying to find him.
- 14:58Speaker 1: That sounds. He sounds like he's like making fun of
- 15:00Speaker 1: Spanish people, Bro, Like, that's how.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I hear it, But that's how his Canadian ass sounds.
- 15:04Speaker 2: In Spanish, it's just stag. And that's what I'm saying.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm not shut your ass.
- 15:08Speaker 2: I'm not out here, you know, critiquing. It's dual lingo skills,
- 15:12Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I'm here to absorb the
- 15:15Speaker 2: song for what it is. And that shit hits. And
- 15:18Speaker 2: even at the end, you hear party next door saying
- 15:20Speaker 2: like I'm gonna be in do Lord that next door.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Like he's even singing in Spanish at the end of
- 15:26Speaker 2: the outro. So it's like they're doing it justice. It's
- 15:29Speaker 2: not the best, but they're not ruining the song. But
- 15:32Speaker 2: it's not they're not pronouncing the language as good as
- 15:35Speaker 2: it could be. I'll give you that, Bro.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I respect your opinion. Mine is that ship is trash
- 15:41Speaker 1: to the mask. Bro, that was like they literally sound
- 15:45Speaker 1: like a joke. And then like after like ten fifteen seconds,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I was like, nah, Bro, this is horrible. This is horrible. Bro,
- 15:53Speaker 1: And I heard I heard Chino podcast in it, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: he sounded good. You know what I'm saying, Like, because
- 15:56Speaker 1: he's actually like, yeah, doing it the right way, you
- 15:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like, I don't know, Bro, I
- 16:01Speaker 1: just I feel like he didn't respect the culture enough.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I don't really hit it the right way. I'm not
- 16:07Speaker 2: going to get I'm not going to defend him because
- 16:09Speaker 2: it is trash. The way he pronounces Spanish. I think
- 16:13Speaker 2: he should let that go and just stick to English.
- 16:15Speaker 2: But I don't think he's disrespecting it. I think that's
- 16:19Speaker 2: just the best he can do.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel that. I feel it. And it's not
- 16:22Speaker 1: even something where I'm like about to go with a
- 16:25Speaker 1: pick a sign down town. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:27Speaker 2: No, that's how Rodney felt. Ronnie was Rodney felt disrespecting.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that bro. Shout out to Rodney Man. But Doug,
- 16:38Speaker 1: we'll kind of wrap up with this, but something that
- 16:41Speaker 1: was funny that I had kind of seen been being
- 16:44Speaker 1: brought up lately and it's just kind of funny to
- 16:47Speaker 1: see also how like the cool factor thing is kind
- 16:50Speaker 1: of going away in like pop culture because you know,
- 16:53Speaker 1: before you had the rock Nation brunch, you still got it,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but it was something where it was like a status thing,
- 16:59Speaker 1: like people were literally, like you know, just me being
- 17:02Speaker 1: in the peripherals of the music industry, you would see
- 17:07Speaker 1: people like in studios like trying to like figure out
- 17:10Speaker 1: a way to even get to that, you know what
- 17:11Speaker 1: I'm saying, like to be able to go to And
- 17:13Speaker 1: it's not only just Rock Nation, Like a lot of
- 17:15Speaker 1: record labels have events like that, like brunches, little parties,
- 17:22Speaker 1: talent management companies, like especially on the West, you know
- 17:24Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like a lot of these places be
- 17:26Speaker 1: having those parties, and there's a lot of people that
- 17:28Speaker 1: just be politicing to get into those parties and into
- 17:30Speaker 1: those vibes. And now as like we're getting into an
- 17:34Speaker 1: arrow where like TikTok is like showing like the realness
- 17:37Speaker 1: and stuff people ain't so pressed about cool celebrities, you
- 17:42Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Now, the kind of embarrassed. I think, yeah, exactly.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And then uh, so you had Gilly on Shannon Sharp's podcast,
- 17:49Speaker 1: shout out to Gilly million dollars worth the game Gilly
- 17:52Speaker 1: and Wallow. So Gilly was talking about why they don't
- 17:55Speaker 1: go to the Rock Nation brun She said, they got invited,
- 17:57Speaker 1: but it's like, brou, I'm the one with the motion
- 18:00Speaker 1: right now, I'm not gonna go there just so jay
- 18:04Speaker 1: Z can say or Rock Nation can say, Hey, look
- 18:07Speaker 1: how we got all the people that matter. They come
- 18:09Speaker 1: in here, they want to be here, because he never
- 18:11Speaker 1: really felt like nothing was going on there aside from
- 18:15Speaker 1: him given his momentum, and it sounds cloud and it
- 18:20Speaker 1: sounds funny to people because they look at it from
- 18:22Speaker 1: this way. Oh, jay Z is a way bigger rapper.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Than like, you should appreciate that.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Gilly ever, was exactly like, oh you should you even
- 18:31Speaker 1: talking like that about jay Z, Like, Bro, but right now,
- 18:34Speaker 1: Gilly's not a rapper, Bro. Gilly is a podcaster, content creator,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and he has one.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Of the big look at he was in the Eagles
- 18:41Speaker 2: locker room when they're on the Super Bowl.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Bro, he got one of the biggest platforms right now.
- 18:45Speaker 1: As far as like talking to the people. So yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 1: he got the cloud. Like you know what I'm saying,
- 18:50Speaker 1: jay Z's out of the public eye, He's in a
- 18:52Speaker 1: different space. So he was just talking about that angle
- 18:56Speaker 1: from it and why he don't go to the Rock
- 18:57Speaker 1: Nation brunch. Then you got camera on Bro. Cameron is
- 19:02Speaker 1: so funny though, like just the way he to me,
- 19:06Speaker 1: because like he's real, he's real, but he's also like
- 19:12Speaker 1: he has these like little things to me that is
- 19:14Speaker 1: like he's still mad childish, you.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Know what I mean. Like I think it's a perfect coment.
- 19:20Speaker 1: It definitely is. And it's like Cam didn't agree with
- 19:24Speaker 1: like not necessarily he didn't agree because it wasn't like comparing.
- 19:27Speaker 1: He didn't have the same reasons as Gilly, but he
- 19:30Speaker 1: had his reasons of why he don't rock with the
- 19:31Speaker 1: Rock Nation Bro.
- 19:32Speaker 2: So he agreed with him, but not for the logic
- 19:34Speaker 2: behind it.
- 19:35Speaker 1: So basically one of the things is like, Bro, he's
- 19:37Speaker 1: worked with jay Z and he knows jay Z, so
- 19:39Speaker 1: he's like, this is Cam out on records with jay Z.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I was actually signed to jay Z's company. I actually
- 19:45Speaker 1: had a joint venture with jay Z and Depth Jam.
- 19:47Speaker 1: It's not a big deal for me to be around
- 19:48Speaker 1: jay Z or one, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 19:50Speaker 1: so it's like the record, So it's like that that
- 19:56Speaker 1: thing for him is not like a clea And he
- 20:00Speaker 1: kind of feels the same where he's like he got
- 20:01Speaker 1: his platform and his platform is doing this thing, like
- 20:03Speaker 1: why do I need to go to the brunch? But
- 20:08Speaker 1: this is the part that got me though. He goes,
- 20:11Speaker 1: it's not really a big deal for me to be
- 20:12Speaker 1: around a bunch of men because it'd be a little
- 20:15Speaker 1: scatter of bitches at that shit, and then it's a
- 20:18Speaker 1: bunch of men. Secondly, you got a bunch of people
- 20:21Speaker 1: just hanging out to take pictures, not to piggyback off
- 20:24Speaker 1: gilly shit at all. But end of the day, why
- 20:27Speaker 1: am I going to see people I've seen a hundred
- 20:30Speaker 1: times and then there's really nothing to talk about. Is
- 20:33Speaker 1: it a great tool for younger artists? Absolutely, He's basically saying, like,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you know, if you're trying to rub shoulders and stuff
- 20:40Speaker 1: and you're trying to network with people that maybe you
- 20:42Speaker 1: never been around, oh yeah, in that situation.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I've been coming. If you never experienced that kind of
- 20:47Speaker 2: you know, legends around you and that kind of success
- 20:51Speaker 2: around you. Yeah, I get it. But if you've been
- 20:53Speaker 2: around there and that's just like taining it water to
- 20:56Speaker 2: you at this point anyway, and the reason to be
- 20:58Speaker 2: around it.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Yeah, facts, and it's just funny, man, Like we kind
- 21:03Speaker 1: of wrap up with this, like some people hold so
- 21:05Speaker 1: much value in things like that, like in the opportunity
- 21:08Speaker 1: to be around this person or that person or you know,
- 21:12Speaker 1: whoever's popping at the time. Whatever. It's like, bro, kind
- 21:15Speaker 1: of like what we're doing with the podcast, Bro, just
- 21:17Speaker 1: do your thing, do it well, keep improving, and then
- 21:21Speaker 1: what you're looking for it'll happen.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that and that that's what it is. We're
- 21:27Speaker 2: not chasing cloud. We're not chasing to be like like
- 21:31Speaker 2: we started off this show with. We're not chasing to
- 21:33Speaker 2: be something that's going to get us exposure. We're chasing
- 21:36Speaker 2: to make what we want to be exposed the best
- 21:39Speaker 2: in the highest quality that it is. And that's it.
- 21:41Speaker 2: We don't need no shortcuts or no piggybacks or nothing
- 21:44Speaker 2: like that.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And we're blessed to be in like good situations financially
- 21:48Speaker 1: and life wise where like we don't need this to
- 21:51Speaker 1: take off in a certain way for like our success
- 21:54Speaker 1: is not tied to it. Like this is really like
- 21:56Speaker 1: a labor of love. It's something that where we like
- 21:59Speaker 1: channel our passions into it and really like just hone
- 22:03Speaker 1: into things that were, like I said, the things that
- 22:05Speaker 1: were passionate about to make stuff happen with it. And
- 22:09Speaker 1: it kind of goes back to that Rock Nation lunch
- 22:11Speaker 1: thing like, Bro, anything that you do or anything that
- 22:14Speaker 1: you don't do, you can come up with a reason
- 22:16Speaker 1: why or why not. You just gotta do whatever to
- 22:18Speaker 1: the best of your ability and make it happen. That's
- 22:20Speaker 1: at the end of the.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Day what it is. Yep. And at the end of
- 22:23Speaker 2: the day, what you gotta do is stay by them
- 23:02Speaker 2: o
