- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I had them in training camp.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: We spoke about the team.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oddly enough, we spoke about, you know what?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they could surprise us, maybe they could win nine games.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I admit, midseason, we were like, man, they're bad, they're bad Kyle.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: and now we're here at the end of the season.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to talk about the season.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about this whole process.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: How are you Kyle?
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Crap.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: I would like to defend both of our honors and point out they were two plays away.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: A Jalen Phillips sack and Devon HN 3 toe stepping out of bounds from winning nine games.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see Devon HN with Amon Rossing Brown on his podcast?
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: Did you ever see that?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I did.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: I loved it because he was every dolphin fan ever.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: When he was like, hey, believe that that happened to us, I stepped out of bounds.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's again.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, yeah, I can't believe that happened to us.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I can.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: I can.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: I remember the emotions I went through in that game.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, we're gonna win this game.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we're not gonna win this game.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna win this game.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we're not gonna win this game.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: It was that was a perfect embodiment for kind of like hope for the season and then like yeah Never mind Oh, hope for the season.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, never mind.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: So perfect.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, but that that loss is a killer Like I'm fond of saying losses inside the division at home are killers They're almost disqualifying good teams do not lose to division foes at home even the best ones
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, that's why everybody keeps telling me, I was a pretty good one against the bills.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, you're supposed to do that.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Supposed to go undefeated at home against your division.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're just not used to beating the bills.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was like a foreign territory and another self.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like just a, a, a, a whole home, dammit, we didn't do it this year.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Tap of year is three and three and you want all three games inside the division at home.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a good season is foreign to.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: We've only done that once in the last four seasons.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, but don't do that.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's not going to start open.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: The Mike McDaniel Pandora's box here.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's part of the reason why he is no longer here.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Although he's interviewing for every single job ever, known to man.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: Can you think of a less attractive fit for how Mike McDaniel calls a passing game than Jaylen Hurts and Philadelphia?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah that makes no sense to me.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a sense to me timing oriented offense with Jalen who does not throw with timing in any capacity.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: None.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: I chuckle with that.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: He should go to Detroit and take the OC job there unless he gets one of these head coach jobs in which case I wouldn't blame.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's ready made and not only is it ready made, I believe Jared Gough could win MVP if Mike McDaniel goes there.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: If you remember Jared Gough for a two year period, let the league and passer rating out of play action.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: If you imagine him with all those Mike, Mike McDaniel run actions all game all season long he's going to put up a number and he loves to throw the in breakers and he throws him in rhythm and he throws him on on target and Mike can really I think they have the weaponry there that can kind of.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: take advantage of the overplay stuff that Mike was talking about what they tried to do but then he kind of just went back to his comfort play calls at times and fell back into some old habits seemingly after every six quarters it felt like he kind of figured it out.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's the job he should take none of these head coaching jobs.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're going to end well for him eventually.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: You imagine him going to Cleveland and the hand them shoulder Sanders.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: shoulder would eat him alive.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: He would eat him alive.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, so, so, no.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: Enough about Mike McDaniel.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about the proper prosperous Miami dolphins, at least lately.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Did you like the process as much as we did in selecting China Excalibur?
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and I'll say this, I did a hotboard, and I had nine different criteria to from afar, grade, engage the attractiveness of resumes of executives.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: And John Erick Sullivan had the most boxes checked out of any of them.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: He was
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: my number one target starting the GM process.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: I love the fact that they got there.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: I love the fact that they closed.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there was no home home, the whole home, old back and forth.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, this guy withdrew his name.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this guy turned us down.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: Let's hire Dennis Hickey.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: It was this guy is clearly got the resume of an NFL ready executive.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: They went through their process.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: They did
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: they cut the process, they were efficient and they put themselves in a position to make a decision on the hay coach and then go about that process and not be so far behind everybody else because right now, as of today, there's only two teams out of these nine teams with vacancies that are even able to hire somebody if they wanted to right now because of the hiring compliance stuff that you have to fulfill with the ruining rule and all your other stuff.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, let me ask you this, John Hobbobie came available, and that was, and we had a lot of fun here on, I don't think I'm back enough of it either, like he's, do you agree with me?
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: He was the most obvious, no-brainer, higher of this entire group.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: and what about for Miami?
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think he could have brought, he was the opposite of everything Steve Ross has ever tried in making a higher, but he would have brought in my opinion pretty much everything Steve and Ross aspire to have.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, it's franchise.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I think he would have, he'd be a very attractive higher, and I respect the fact that Miami has kind of,
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: stuck to their guns with what their preparation on the pathway and what that needs to look like and not deviating it from that because I fully understand if you're going to make the most compelling sales pitch to John Harbaugh as the dolphins with what the roster and the cap situation looks like.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to have to give the moon.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to have to make concessions to tailor the offer to John Harbaugh.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if it's going to work out for him or not.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I respect the fact that they said, we're not going to throw away all of this preparation that we took.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: to get a direction for our front office structure and our personnel evaluation process and our scouting process and overhauling all that because they've already shredded the front office and scouting staff that was in place.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: I respect that they didn't throw all that away to go chase John Harball in the way in which they needed to to give them the competitive offer.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think they would have had to have made to give him the moon to come to my end.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: now if we believe if we just take it a face value all the reporting from New York and from Gary Myers especially Gary Myers like he's been on this from from from jump for getting pretty Ricky oh yeah he's also a giant fan like who know who would have known that the giants had this this strong lobby right on Twitter but they do let's just assume that all of that is correct okay that would mean that Miami is not going to land John Harbour
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Do you consider it a failure or a choice that John Harbaugh is not here?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see a team that threw themselves into the process the way in which they would have needed to for it to be deemed a failure in my mind.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: Is it a little disappointing because he thought when it first became available, like all Stephen Ross's white whale like he didn't get Jim maybe you'll get John now here it is.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see him go for it.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Do they have any other brothers or no?
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the ship's probably sailed on Stephen Ross hiring a harbors.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: Hey coach.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: Other might be dolphins at this point.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: is a little disappointing from that regard.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't regard it a failure because again, I saw a team that made the choice to stick with their process and not deviate course in order to do the Giants pick me tour, which is what the Giants have done.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if the dolphins were throwing themselves at John Harbour on the way in which, oh, well, Mike McDaniel called John Harbour and told him how great of a job it is and he should take it, like the giants apparently had Brian Dabel do.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: Gamerino got on the phone and told him how great it is in Miami.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: If they were doing that and they didn't get him like, yeah, that the embarrassment is what it would be.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not dissape, I don't think it's a failure because of that.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm going to give you two names.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't give you categories.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you three categories because the list is so large.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's we're talking about 11 names, right?
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: To the point where it's going to 16, which is also in 16, which is insane.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: Although if you watched the Bishadi on his press conference, first of all, what entertainment?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like that was entertaining.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Stephen Ross has to watch that and try to emulate it as well as he can.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe fans would take a liking to them because I know for a fact that Stephen Ross wants to be the hero.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to be the hero down here instead of the clown, you know what I mean?
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think he smart to go on Bloomsburg and talk instead of a presser because that that ravens presser never mind the fact that Tomlin resigned mid press conference and you had all that reaction to it too.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: I was really impressed by the ravens owners depending on your perspective.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: You could call it confidence or arrogance to get the higher right.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: the conversation was around John Harbaugh and I guess like it makes sense from the sense that like his whole fortune and wealth is from like a recruiting and hiring background so like you kind of know how to go about that process but uh the way in which he spoke about
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: going about this next higher had a swagger or a bravado, a confident slash arrogance about it that I was like, I just really engaging with that said, you better hire the right guy.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: If that's how you're going to talk about it, right?
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, people are asking me like that's the best job.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's not the best job because they fired John Harble, okay?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why it's not the best job.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: The best job is obviously the Steelers because they don't fire anybody.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't fired a coach in 57 years So if you get the Steelers job, you know I hope you like Pittsburgh for 20 years because you're probably gonna be there
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: If I classify these guys in three classes, previous head coaching experience, first time offense, first time defense, I have my best in class as Kevin Stephansky, Jesse Minter, and Clint Kubiak, who are you're three?
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so we're best in class for previous head coaching experience.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and then first time defense, first time offense.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: I really like the outlook on Robert Sala.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I know that's not super popular.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think you got a raw deal in New York.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: I would challenge anybody to name me one person that went to New York with the jets and was better there than wherever they were before or after their time in New York.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a temperature, setter element of this position that draws me
- 13:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think Kevin Kevin's a good choice.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: I would not at all be disappointed.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're talking about player development and I'm looking at what Salas doing with the guys that are on the field with a team that's got $150 million in payroll and dead money and IR money that's not on the field.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: there are four best of like they're on linebackers four five and six on the depth chart their first round picks hurt not playing fried mourners not playing they lost a fungun green lawn free agency nick boses out like it's just been incredible what they've been able to do defensively so that part of it with the lessons learned in New York which i think makes it i look back on and give them a little bit of grace for how it went
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: I like Solas, the guy that's got previous coaching experience that is presumably within touch, right?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like we're assuming John Harbaugh is not in touch.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're assuming that Mike Tomlin's without or out of reach, we're assuming that the Packers aren't going to do something crazy with Matt LaFlair, which I can continue to just kind of keep my eyes on as a possibility.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: The first time defensive, coach, best in class, hmm.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're probably right with mentor, really impressed with what that unit did this year.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: They had the strong defensive showing in the playoff game, gave up the one touchdown against the Patriots, which was an excellent throw from Drake Mayo in that play, but you kind of knew there were some warts on that roster on that side of the ball coming in.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: and they still had statistically speaking of very strong season that wasn't like their reunite was the wet down in the postseason or anything.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, the shunt the shunt hand and tear tart are playing big snaps on that team and they're dominating.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you could probably also look at some of the internal scouting that the dolphins have done and asked some hard questions.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: If those guys can go to LA, it's not like they went to Pittsburgh or Green Bay where there's nothing else going on.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: They went to another like,
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: busy city with things to do and distractions if you're worried about like tear tard as a guy who had some motivation issues at Tennessee or whatnot.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: They got those guys locked and loaded like they're rolling like they are playing good football for them.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's part of why your assistant GM, your general manager, and both of your co-directors of player personnel are out of work from from what the dolphins had.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Best in class for first time offensive coach I would agree is is going to be a can.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: you can miss me with the Joe Brady proposal.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's that that one's not going to be for me.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, thank you.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: Hard no.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: But Kubiaka, I love what they do with heavy personnel.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: They play with a bunch of tight ends on the field.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: They are committed to running the ball understanding that it's not always about the EPA return on investment when you call runs.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's about avoiding long and late downs and staying in neutral game or neutral downs.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: uh... and neutral down situations with your third down's uh... and then they pop some explosives off of that and and he's got several years of play calling experience that uh... i think has some good overlapped with what the dolphins are currently engineered to run offensively
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right, and I'm gonna add another another category here and then we're gonna go to break Who has the bad vibes before in the pre-season?
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about and we made fun of all the people talking about bad vibes This team has bad vibes.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, those bad vibes let the one and six Okay, so so who am I to argue about it?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: Who gives you the bad vibes?
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you mine.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: Jeff Haffley
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: I get the appeal of Jeff Hathley.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I want to give him some grace because we lost Micah Parsons, Devante Wyatt, they lost somebody else there for a stretch, defensively.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: Edge Cooper missed some snaps.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: Edge Cooper, yeah, thank you.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: I like his demeanor.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: And Rashun Gary is like a non-existent non-factor for some reason now.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what a weird kind of regression it's been right.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like he got hurt and came back and was still impactful and it feels like it's kind of faded on him.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, I, I will go for the bad vibes with.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: Kelvin Shepherd as a request just because it feels like it's too early.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like he had one years of defense coordinator taken over for Aaron Glenn.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he's like super serious consideration, so you call me a coward if you want for taking the easy way out with this question.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: But I just feel like Shepherd is he's too raw to having a defensive coordinator position for me to think that like I give him a serious consideration for the
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I spoke to a media member by the way and told me that that Chris Shula had no shot at getting this job because Stephen Ross wouldn't want to fire A Shula and I was thinking myself if that's what they're thinking about when hiring a guy is I might have to fire him
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: then they're doing the whole process wrong and then sell the team for 15 billion before you have to fire exactly because my hope my hope is that they're doing this whole process looking for a guy that's going to be here for 20 years you know
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like that's that's like that should be the process.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's the process should be who can be here for the next 20 years when Eight division titles two super balls something like that Not man.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: I might have to fire this guy in four years.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: No, let's not do that All right, we're gonna go to break and we come back.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: We will take all of your questions on the other side of the break
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: But first, let me tell you about Factor.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: They are with us for the calendar year.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: That means all of 2026.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: So you'll be hearing from me on Factor.

- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: They will be with us through the draft.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully they'll be with us for the regular season as well.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: But they're gonna be around for a while and I already could put that app on my phone and it works.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: Financial resolutions are great, but let's be real, but don't reset on January 1st.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: We know that between post holiday credit card bills.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: I've got a few of those and getting back to your regular routine cash is tight That's why there's upside the free upside app gets you cash back on gas groceries and dining if you think about it That's what you spend usually on your credit cards.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's usually gas groceries
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: And dining the three things that drain your wallet right now over 100,000 participating locations means cash back opportunities are everywhere you already go And yes, it's cash back not point that you'll never use not credits that expire money you transfer straight to your bank account I put gas and I spent thirty one dollars in gas and sure enough
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: In 24 hours, I had $3.15 already for me to put right back into my back account.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: So it works.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: Here's how it works.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: Open the app, claim an offer, pay with your card like normal and get paid.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: Simple as that.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: Upside has given back $1 billion to its users to find out how much you can earn, download the free upside app, and use promo code three yards to get an extra 25 cents back for every gallon on your first tank.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's an extra 25 cents back for every gallon on your first tank, I guess.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: Use the promo code, three yards, the number, three yards.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, underdog, another sponsor that will be with us for the entire calendar year, 2026, football playoffs are here and underdog is the best place to get in on all the great iron action.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Playing on Underdog is easy.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like touchdowns, receiving yards, interceptions and more.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: Get your picks right and you can win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now I happen to like one play a lot this weekend.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not a home or play, so don't accuse me of it.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: I like higher on 0.5 interceptions for Drake May, and I like higher on 0.5 interceptions for Josh Allen, so both AFCE's quarterbacks to throw an interception.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're facing the Denver Broncos, they're facing the Houston Texans, two best defenses in all of football.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the play I like for this weekend.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: So what are you waiting for?
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: Download the app today and use the promo code three yards to score $75 in bonus entries when you play your first $5.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's the promo code three yards.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: The number three yards.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: Underdog.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: Make picks win money.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: Must be 18 plus, 19 plus in Alabama in Nebraska, 19 plus in Colorado for some games, 21 plus in Arizona, Massachusetts, and Virginia, and present in a state where underdog fantasy operates, terms apply.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: See assets dot underdog fantasy dot com forward slash web forward slash play and get terms underscore dfs underscore dot html for details offer not valid in Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania concern with your play.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Call 1-800-Gambler or visit ncpgambling.org.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: In New York, call the 24-7 Hopeline at 1-877-8 Hop and Y, or text Hop and Y for 6-7-369.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: And we're back, and I did it live.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Kyle.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: Let me get to the questions in the chat.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: First question.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Concerns with Half-List mediocre at best results at Boston College, I wouldn't characterize his results as mediocre, by the way.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: The dolphins once overlooked Cancamrine's poor results at Indiana, oh my God.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Indiana, whoa, just I just saw that.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: Give me the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: and it was a disaster right this this listener uh so I guess your concerns with Hafley's mediocre results as a head coach at B.C.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know indeed took over in the first year was in 2020 in the COVID year they went 6 and 5.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: then the NIL stuff starts blowing up, you're playing in the end of the pool where you don't have the funds, some of the other teams in the ACC.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think being bowl eligible three out of four seasons at Boston College is a little different than being the head coach at Alabama or Georgia
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: The program has had some competitive seasons, right?
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like Steve Adazio had a pretty competitive stretch there.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: The Tom O'Brien stuff that they were really rolling towards the end of his tenure in the late 90s or the early 2000s when Matt Ryan was there.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I get like their program that's being capable of having success.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: But he's a guy who cut his teeth coming up through the NFL right where he was in Tampa or Cleveland in San Francisco and then he was the DC at Ohio State or the co DC at Ohio State before is at BC the last two years in Gribé like.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate that he has had coaching experience because I think that can be valuable.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: What I like about Jeff Haffley is that he's a player, development, and teacher, kind of coach, where I think that has to be in line with what you consider John Erick Sullivan, the expected philosophy for how they build the roster.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: So I think there's alignment there.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think that is important.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to ding a guy for being 6 and 5, 6 and 6, 3 and 9 and 22 and then 7 and 6 with a win in the Fenway Bowl.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: Trying to go up against some powerhouses that are spending, I mean, just what did what the cane spend the last two years on quarterbacks in the portal, Alth?
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, let me see.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was about $13 million, something like that.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, how many players you think you could put on on BC's payroll?
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: They're getting $13 million, right?
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's, it's, it's an apple store and just type thing for me.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, look his results at Boston College.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're that bad.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, it's it's hard It's gonna be it's it's gonna be hard for anybody to do anything at Boston College going forward because it's the NL era and in the NL era What's gonna happen is the Boston College is gonna get a bunch of leftover three three stars that are gonna play well And then when they play well they become attractive for the portal
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then they essentially become free agents, they make themselves free agents, and go get paid elsewhere.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: I believe the Hurricanes just took a safety from Boston College, in fact.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, Bill O'Brien took Jeff Haffley's roster and went seven and six, and then in the second season after his first effort at recruiting, they went to two and ten.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because those players leave, it's a tough spot to coach and recruit.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: All right, next question for JES, that's John Eric Sullivan, and the draft, what can we look at from the Packers Draft History to kind of have somewhat of a feel for players will be aiming for?
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then he writes, Guru was big on dented cans and value at the cost of injury risk.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious what JES kind of, what his philosophy may be.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: One thing I agree with is, you can have a philosophy of looking for the market inefficiency, but it can't be your entire philosophy.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris Guru's entire philosophy was, I'm just gonna buy a scratch off ticket.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's all over the place.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: And eventually I'm going to get rich this crutch of oh there's a hundred percent injury rate if you play football long enough so we're just going to take all the high risk guys because it's just easier to say oh well that you know just everybody gets hurt you play long enough so um for what the packer's have done
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of defense early, a lot of drafts in which there's at least one offensive lineman and top 100 picks.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: He is explicitly stated in the previous interviews that he's done that he is a believer that you are always assessing and opportunistically adding to your quarterback situation.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I think those are the three things.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a lot of
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: pass rusher's corners.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they've gone even going linebackers with quay walker defense attack like they've done everything on the defensive side of the ball really and Then they've paired that with sometimes it's a Jordan Morgan in the first round sometimes it's it's you come back and you get Josh Myers on day two There's a lot of volume on offensive lineman there too
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: And they like guys with some mass.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: Now, what does that mean for A-Rimbruer?
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think A-Rimbruer is ultimately fine if you get non-replacement level guard play next.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: So if you want to diversify your scheme, I think there'd be a great place to start.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that has to be this indictment of A-Rimbruer that I think a lot of people are concerned of,
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: Jason Kelsey was a similarly stature guy.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying Amber is Jason Kelsey, but you never had any concerns about Jason Kelsey when you needed to muck it up and uproot the line of skirmish and get two yards when he was in Philadelphia because they had guards that could hit a short yardage block with a guy lined up directly across from them, which the dolphins haven't had in two years.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: It feels like.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, next question is, what is the most you would give up in a LaFlorate trade?
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: Let me explain something about Matt LaFlorate, if he were to be traded, and let's say, you know, to the dolphins, okay?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: He would have to agree to be here, so it's not like he's a player, and we're gonna be bidding against another team.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: I doubt very seriously that Matt LaFlorate's like, you know what?
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of like Miami, but you know what, the Raiders are not so, so, so bad, and then we're gonna have to be bidding up against the Raiders.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that's a thing.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: The way it would work would be Matt LaFrore would say, okay, we're not gonna get this deal done here in Green Bay.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: I want to go to Miami, and Miami will just come up with fair compensation with the Green Bay Packers.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that the Packers have a lot of leverage.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's one year of right that they hold.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: So it's kind of like, it's kind of like the Jalen Phillips thing at the deadline, right?
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you can either choose to make a decision now and get something for them, or you can let the process play out.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: And if you make a lot of flour coach in a contract year, it's not like there's a franchise tag for coaches.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to walk and he's going to be pissed that you made him coach out his last year and you will get nothing for him.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: And so if you know you're not going to pay him, you should move him.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: And if you think you're going to pay him, you should quit.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: messin' around, which is probably the fifth word that came to my mind, but I'm gonna keep a little family friendly here for everybody.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: And just pay him, right?
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like quit jerking around and pay him if you're gonna pay him.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so my answer is a third-ron pick.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: And if Green Bay insists on saving faith, I'll throw you a seventh to sweeten the deal.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: What's say you?
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: predictively speaking.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Did you catch what Adam chef has said this morning?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: He said it was a day two pick, right?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then that stood out to me and he referenced my home room getting traded for a two and then went out of his way to say that he doesn't take Mount La Flores as this accomplished as what my home room was when my home room had got traded for a two.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's about the right ballpark.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I like the coach, by the way.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I like I like I'm a lot.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's a deal.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_00]: I would do.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: I would be pretty that that's that would get me pretty jazzed about what we would have here going All right next question now with the addition of Joe Brady to the pool of candidates which do you prefer from Clint Kubiak Joe Brady chemistry fanski and what do you think you can put together the best
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is the better question here, is who do you think can put together the best defensive staff out of the three offensive coaches?
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: And he writes, I personally would prefer we hired Kevin Stephansky and perhaps would bring in Jim Schwartz.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_02]: Although, Cleans doing this weird thing where I guess Jim, he's gonna be the Dean C and Cleveland.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: yeah so imagine taking man does that job have Mike McDaniel's name written all over it you think Mike McDaniel has the the ego to take that job because that's what he wants he wants to be the head coach of offense and have a head coach of defense like they're basically offering him that and let's Cleveland goes for this Jacksonville
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: He's super young.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's like it is early thirties.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, so maybe they go that route, but I think Mike's like one of the top two candidates to take that job All right, so his question was who do you think could put together the best defensive staff out of these offensive coaches?
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think if if defense he could guarantee is taking shorts that I mean, that's the no-pringer But I don't the browns.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't believe we're gonna let him do that so
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: Man, it would not be the worst thing to get a little bit of a bite off of this Mike McDonald defense that's rolling in Seattle, you say Houston and and Denver, the two best defenses in the NFL, but Seattle might have something to say with it, so yeah, they're right there.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, out of Seattle, if you can take pull a couple pieces off of that, I think that could be a really compelling staff.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_00]: all right next question any additional candidates you would like to see added my god we already have 11 like it's getting crowded in there you know I don't know any other additional candidates this college you know college head coach thing is not something we do anymore so even some of the guys I like in colleges are not guys I would add so I would say no I think that this is the list
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about a possible and an weaver interview.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: I know that doesn't necessarily mean that he hasn't had one because they don't need to report it because it's not requesting an interview from somebody that's outside your building.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything about that.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: I guess maybe I could have seen them requesting Mike McCart or getting Mike McCarty in as another experience guy with some green bay ties, a little surprise that we didn't get that one, but other than that, I'm kind of in the same boat as you are.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: Are you with me that they're secretly just hoping and wishing that somebody takes Anthony we were off their hands so they could take those two third rompics?
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think absolutely I think that that's that be a dream come true for a team that needs all the breaks that they can get from a resources perspective and I really like Anthony I think he's he's done a lot with a little and I think he's a great coach.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think he'd be a good CEO style coach.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: But I think if you had to press their feet to the fire with what their roster situation is and needing to load up on as many picks as they can.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure they'd be tickled if you told them that they they get two thirds for Anthony.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, next question, Kyle talks often about taking swings at quarterback or some mid-run quarterbacks that interest you coach pending.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: I really like Sawyer Robertson from Bailer.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a name that stands out that has some intrigue in some tools.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't completely given up on Garrett Nussmire.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: If the price was right, I don't think the price being right would be on the second round.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like if you get into the fringe of the top one underneath out there, like I could hear you out on that one.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure what his value is going to be.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the two that didn't hit the portal.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_02]: I've been seeing like all the guys that I liked hit the portal this year.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: I was really in the Brendan Sorrowsby who went back and hit the transfer portal out of Cincinnati.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's a big bag of cash, a Texas tech and it's girlfriend.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, he's gonna have a good time at Texas Tech next year.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: That team's gonna be really, really good next year.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: They're really, really good this year.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're just running to Oregon here in the Orange Ball.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_00]: Next question, any worries hiring a defensive head coach if we are getting a rookie quarterback soon always wonder if the OC does well They will likely leave meaning a whole new book to learn, et cetera.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's always a concern.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_00]: I saw the jail in hurts
- 37:55[SPEAKER_02]: uh... versus street cat it's it's that all back to like twenty twenty fifteen or twenty sixteen select ten straight years of having a new office to coordinate every year that's the same so any concerns uh... as far as that is it's it's that it's legitimate
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's a legitimate talking point.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: You're always going to have to battle something, right?
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's always going to be of this or of that.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: And from a player development standpoint, it is something that you'd like to cover and have some consistency with.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: CJ Straud's doing okay from Sally's not playing great right now, but I mean that that team's got a monster defense They I mean they are The monsters on defense right now and Houston they are so much fun to watch and oh That I mean do we we came into this here and we were like ready to tear the offensive line room to shreds and they they revamped the whole thing and it's still stunk and
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: If a guy's a guy is going to be able to figure it out, and if you properly invest in what you want the identity of your team to be and you allow that to be the identity of your team, I think you're still going to have a chance to be really, really competitive case and point the Texans, I mean, look at their last through wildcard matchups, right?
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: And they've had some narrow losses like deeper in the playoffs, but they have gotten in and they smoked the chargers, they smoked the Browns.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: they smoke the steelers like they are comfortably a tear above some of those other wild card teams despite having the concerns of what it was when Bobby Slowick was the O.C.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_02]: with with strout and so on and so forth.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, last question.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I've thought on the new scout that we got.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: I have assumed you're talking about Bolwer, former U.M.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: offensive lineman, how the hell would I know?
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's a scout.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have his uh, his uh, his reports in front of me.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what his philosophies are.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't have the foggy idea.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_00]: You have any idea about this guy?
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'll try to dig him out at the senior bowl and pick his brain for a few minutes.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'll let you know if I do.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right, what do you have going on and what is it going to be doing tomorrow with our own Simon Plancy talking a little draft with Simon excited to get into the draft talk with Simon a little bit.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, you guys for a while and Simon reached out about a chance to collaborate on some stuff excited to do that and get that rolling and help him get his project off the ground.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: So we're doing that tomorrow.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: Don't ask me what we're talking about yet that you got a tune
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: The rest of the way for me unlocked on Dolphins is I'm kind of going through a methodology to kind of grade these Coaches with their fit based on criteria.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: I did the same thing similarly for general managers back in the end of November and John Eric Sullivan was the top guy as a standalone as the top best available on the board.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_02]: So eager to see if they they follow suit with with the criteria that I choose to pick out again and
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'll have that process finalized before we're going to the weekend and start doing the in-person meeting interviews next week.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Kyle.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for joining us.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: And again, if you want to participate in these shows, we do these every single week.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be doing them throughout the off season.

- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: We do this on our discord.
