- 0:00Speaker 1: Done of the mayor is up early person and Australian
- 0:02Speaker 1: good morning to you, good morning. Were all the banks
- 0:05Speaker 1: under cyber attack?
- 0:07Speaker 2: This is quite alarming. They have issued a warning. We
- 0:10Speaker 2: heard from a gentleman called Christian from their National Australia Bank,
- 0:14Speaker 2: the NAB, and he says that the Big four are
- 0:18Speaker 2: under attack constantly from these cyber attacks. And in his words,
- 0:23Speaker 2: every bank all the time is being bombarded by cyber
- 0:27Speaker 2: attacks every minute of every day and customers are increasingly
- 0:31Speaker 2: vulnerable to scams. Now what's happening. All these attackers are
- 0:34Speaker 2: trying to get into computer systems for instance, as we know,
- 0:37Speaker 2: deny services to customers, use malicious code, breach loggins, steal
- 0:42Speaker 2: information and money. So Christian told the ABC that the
- 0:46Speaker 2: entire community, every Australian that uses the banking services of
- 0:50Speaker 2: the Big four is at risk. He's called it a
- 0:54Speaker 2: war a type of warfare. In fact, you know, he's
- 0:57Speaker 2: saying like there's everything from the you know, the person
- 0:59Speaker 2: in his basement trying to steal money and so forth,
- 1:03Speaker 2: right up to these very sophisticated, ruthless crime groups that
- 1:07Speaker 2: are trying to hack and cyber attack the big bangs,
- 1:13Speaker 2: the banks say that's spent a fortune trying to protect
- 1:16Speaker 2: themselves from this, about three billion dollars a year. Now,
- 1:22Speaker 2: just a few hours later after this was you know,
- 1:26Speaker 2: these quotes were released from Christian Would you believe it?
- 1:30Speaker 2: The nab app and the internet banking all went out.
- 1:33Speaker 2: There were mass outages across Australia and thousands of Australians
- 1:36Speaker 2: couldn't get into their bank accounts and they were furious.
- 1:38Speaker 2: But thankfully that's all been reinstated overnight.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Good stuff. Now, what about this Melbourne airport thing? How widespread?
- 1:43Speaker 1: How bad is this?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Oh? Yes, well, Borderfalls has been honing in on aviation
- 1:48Speaker 2: workers and it's found that dozens of Melbourne Airport staff,
- 1:53Speaker 2: well they've been accused of working for organized criminals trying
- 1:56Speaker 2: to smuggle drugs into Australia. So the investigation found that
- 1:59Speaker 2: was a seventy staff at Melbourne Airport alone that breach
- 2:04Speaker 2: security checks over twelve months, and some are actually suspected
- 2:07Speaker 2: of working within organized crime, you know, distributing drugs allegedly,
- 2:11Speaker 2: but also engaged in illicit drug use. It's also been
- 2:14Speaker 2: alleged that international airline crew have been hiding illegal cigarettes
- 2:19Speaker 2: and tobacco in false bottom luggage and I can tell
- 2:22Speaker 2: you now Botaforce are continuing those investigations Tuesday.
