- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Hey y'all! I don't do yells very often, but I felt appropriate today.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: How is everybody happy home day?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: It's hot.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Get on here.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Get your questions answered.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: That'll be a good thing.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna check to see if it is registering on the other place.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I don't see it.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I guess it takes a minute.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So I have the perfect topic today, and it kind of correlates to what I'm doing in January.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Hey Angelica.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Um, I saw your question.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I haven't had a chance to, it's just been crazy today.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: So, but if you have another question, I'm happy to answer that as well.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Um, I got an impromptu invite for both my littles to do their their Halloween thing at their old school.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: So they're, you know, they were like, oh.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: So I had to, there's lots of shuffling about trying to find a costume really quick.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Not a costume that we were gonna wear on Saturday, of course.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: It had to be something different, so we were scrambling around.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Um so it looks like Jamie actually answered your question in the messenger group, so that's pretty nice there.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Jamie, if you're listening.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Um let's see if anything has shown up, and then we can get we can let the games begin.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: What do they say in the Hunger Games?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: May the odds be forever in your favor.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know why I like to say that.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: It's such a silly thing.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: All right, let's see if there's any questions to start off the bat.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: If not, I'm just gonna go down my laundry list and um talk about what I'm gonna talk about.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, there it is! It finally showed up.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Yay! Looks like it's a couple.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Um uh yeah, so they they were excited to do the whole trick or tree thing as bigger kids.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: So we'll see.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: We'll see how it works out.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Um I'm to pick them promptly up at 7:30.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: So um, and they obviously went with another adult, so they I wouldn't let them go by themselves.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Today we're gonna talk about are you building a business or just buying yourself a job?
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Had lots of interesting conversations this week, and I can't believe that next week is November.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I get a lot of questions about that.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Like I have a business, but then they're still out in the field, and it's totally okay if that's what you want.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: It doesn't bother me either way.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: But if you want to scale something and create legacy so that you have wealth in your older years, after all, this is blood, sweat, and tears a lot of times.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Um, it's good to plan for the future and know what kind of assets are gonna pull in money for you, passive assets, so that you're not gonna be cleaning forever.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And if you are still cleaning, bless your heart.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And I I know there's a few of you out there, and that's what you want to do, and that's what makes you happy.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not here to criticize that at all.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Whatever you want to do is what I want to make you do.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: I want you to be happy doing whatever it is you choose to do.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: But physically, most of us, there's no way I could clean.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I was tallying up how many hours we donated to the free cleanings this year.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And if you guys have been following for a while, you would know that I had two medical emergencies with the free cleanings this year.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: That's the first time ever I've been doing it seven, eight, nine years free cleanings.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: We we do a certain amount of cleanings every year, it's all volunteer based.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: I go along with them because I feel I'm asking them for something, so I'm cleaning with them, and it's like probably the only time a year for the most part.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Once in a while, a blender will happen.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh crap.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: But in other case, I couldn't.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: There's no way, no way that I could clean full-time.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So you have to prepare yourself for the future.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And by doing that, is you're investing, not just getting a financial advisor and shoving money in their face and saying, fix it for me, right?
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: It's the most um unpersonal, they're they're dealing with the most intimate details of your life, financial advisors, but they're dealing with a lot of personal information.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And you gotta learn.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: You gotta, it's just like learning the cleaning business.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: You have to learn the ins and outs of all these things to create assets for yourself.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: So I spoke to someone a couple weeks ago, and um, they were talking about building a cleaning business, and they have, and I had spoken to them last year, and then I spoke to them the year before.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: We're on year five, and it's okay, life happens.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: I totally get it.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: But year five, still no progress, still telling me, you know, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Have you guys ever had a family member that was like that?
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: That was a hard lesson for me to learn.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I was really gullible when I was younger.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So if you went up to me and said, let's open up a restaurant business, I'd be like, All right, I'm excited to do this with you.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: And then I would do all of the planning, all of the work, all of the research, all of the stuff.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, we just need to get a business loan, or I have this much for seed money, and then they'd be like, I had no intention of opening up a restaurant.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: I was like, what?
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: And they would like confirm throughout the process, like, I'm like, I have these plans.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I have this is my business plan, this is this, this is this.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And in reality, is A, you should never do friend business with your friends, and B, they had no one, there's a lot of people who talk the talk and don't walk the walk, right?
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: So um sometimes it happens with with businesses.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Um in January, I'm doing my first in-person event.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty excited, and I haven't done an in-person event in eight, nine years.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: So I'm a little like I'm a little apprehensive a little bit, but it's gonna be fine.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And we're talking about train the trainer.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: So um I'm almost done with the funnel.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Thank you, ChatGPT, because I couldn't have done the zapp.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: The zappier part's always the hardest part of getting it all to read together.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Um, I know there's chatbots to figure that out, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I tried a couple chatbots, I'm like, I'm just not working.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: So I had to do the old school method with Chrome, ChatGPT.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: And like, thank God for ChatGPT, because there's you when you start to watch tutorials and then they, you know, they're from another country, so you're like, did you skip a step?
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: You know, or the software changes, it's one of those situations.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: So um, when you are building a business, or if you're just buying yourself a job, you there's the owner dependency trap, and a lot of people call that the bottleneck.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: A lot of people have the bottleneck because you're in the initial stages of building, right?
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: So usually you're out there working as a cleaner with your crew, and um if you went on vacation for five or seven days, would your business run without you?
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: It's the biggest indicator of where you're at, where you're sitting, right?
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: And so if you're doing all the cleaning, scheduling, quoting, hiring, firing, all of it, um think about that.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Would you be able to take a week off?
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Say you won two weeks into Haiti.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Um, or let's get someplace closer, Hawaii, right?
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Hawaii is only a five-hour flight from Los Angeles.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Um, and if you're on either the coast, the east coast, it's more than a five-hour flight.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: But it as I said, the point is to go with my example.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Just run with it, Shannon.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Um if you want a trip tomorrow to Hawaii, would you be able to take away from your business?
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: It's just something to think about.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Like, I have a really close friend who went down to Mexico, got in a head-on collision, almost died.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: His his wife and his child died.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: And thank God he had people in place to run the business for him because he was in a coma for like 30 days.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Then he he broke his um, I want to say clavicle bone, but his his shoulder and his arm.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: So there were pins in his arm, and he was like this after he woke up from a coma.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Can you imagine being in a coma and then waking up and then have hearing the terrible news?
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: But thank God this person was savvy enough to have all of the ducks in the row for when something like that happened so that he could take the time off and heal what you know, which is what he needed at that time.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: So, um, and there also was a point too when you start to pull in all of this revenue.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Um, for a lot of us in the beginning stages of building, because there's different phases of your business, you have a shit ton of money, and you're like, what am I gonna do with all this money?
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Or some of us have never had money before, some of us have so much money we don't know where to spend it.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's where I talk about legacy a lot.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Um, and then some of us are like, I spoke to someone who's doing 720,000 and she's still out cleaning, and I'm like, why?
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Why are you if you're desirous to be out of the field, why are you in the field?
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Uh why are you working as a cleaning tech?
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: It's because she didn't have the systems in place to she should be taking a paycheck, especially at$720,000 a year, right?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Um, so more revenue doesn't mean freedom yet, right?
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: You have to have all those systems in place to give you the freedom.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: And um there are three systems that every cleaning business needs: a pricing system that protects profit, super important.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: A training system that delivers consistency, right?
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: If Martha trains one way and Susan trains another, and then the customer goes, Well, when Martha's here, all of my pillows are karate chops, but when Susan's here, she smashes them on the side, and I really hate smashing on the side.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: That's not consistency, right?
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: It's the same thing, but it's different.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: So um, having a training system that delivers consistency, a client protection system with policies and payment expectations.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: I had to be a little rough with a cleaning business owner.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh, this I want to say this was six months ago.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: She had gone through the structure, scale, and profit cleaning business academy.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: She's working in 1099, she wasn't really clear.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: The 1099 made a grab for the whole ticket.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: And we had to have like this really loud discussion over the phone on how she was gonna get her money back.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: She ultimately got her money back, but I don't think that my message was received very well.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: And I didn't mean to rough handle someone like that.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: It just was like a very emotional, intense time because we were running out of time.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: I didn't want her to end up eating almost a grand.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: So I was just like, she did what?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: So she basically um started working for this cleaning business and decided that she was gonna the the homeowner didn't know anything.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: The homeowner paid this person in cash and decided that she was gonna cut the owner out entirely.
- 13:03unknown: Yeah.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Needless to say, I'm like, she kept, she did what?
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: It's just like you know better.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: You sort of had the contract sign.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: The homeowner's not gonna know, right?
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: So then when she called the homeowner, she's like, Well, I already paid the bill with Susan, right?
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: I'm just you know, law, right?
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: So you just never know um what those boundaries are.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Or um sometimes people don't want to pay.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Uh I've helped probably 15 people this year.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: It hasn't been as busy as yours prior, so yay, I love you guys.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Um, but there's nothing more sucky than doing a really good job at something, and then the homeowner goes, Well, this isn't what I expected, and I'm not gonna pay you.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And you're like, dude, how would you like it if your paycheck didn't show up?
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: You wouldn't, right?
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: So it's just this whole dynamic of I'm gonna screw you.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: So you don't wanna, I don't want to say screw them over before they screw you over, but you want to have policies in place so that those opportunities are not given.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: So, um, for example, in Jabber, they have to, when they sign the quote, because I don't do anything in person rarely anymore.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: I am going to a marketing event tomorrow, and I'm gonna be doing in-person bidding there, but it's not gonna be I'm going to their property.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: But they don't get to have the job until they have a credit card on file and they check the box that they understand what all of the policies and procedures are.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Way easier than the old school method for sure.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: And then if you're still doing it by hand, that's okay too.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: There's a method for that as well, right?
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: You, if you're still doing in-person bids, you're bringing the two contracts with you, you're leaving one with the client, you're getting the one that's signed with the credit card information.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: You're either charging the credit card right there over your phone because you're there, or you're doing it off your computer when you get home.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Um, there's ways to solidify that so that they A, they don't shop anymore, and B, they don't screw you over.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: And if they do decide to screw you over, at least you've got your labor covered, right?
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: So that's um that's something to think about for sure.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: And then really think about if you want that trip to Hawaii, what would you do?
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: I'm like, gosh, black sand.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Ooh, I could really use the vacation.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: I started to think about it today.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm overdue for vacation.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: My mom um has had some health issues this year, so I haven't been able to travel.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: And for those of you who don't know, I've had a passport issue.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm hoping to resolve it by the end of this year.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: I I can't even get a real ID.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: So the only traveling Shannon gets to do is if I can drive in the car.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: And don't worry, if you guys don't know the story, I haven't done anything wrong.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: There was some fraud that happened, and I had to file a police report, so I'm waiting for it to work itself out.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Um, so those are some of the things I thought might be interesting for someone to think about.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: And um, obviously, Train the Trainer is uh January 22nd of 2027.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Yay! And there is what is today?
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: The 26th, 27th?
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Today's the 28th.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: If you have not applied for the Structure Scale and Profit Cleaning Business Academy, uh, there's not that many people who've applied this year.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: Last year we had 381 people.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: I think it's less than 100, which is amazing to me that someone doesn't want a$5,000 scholarship, especially for their cleaning business, right?
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: So it's something to think about for that.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: And I think that's all of the stuff I had to talk about.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Let's see if there's any other questions.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: There was a question about salsides.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: I love salsides, I like it because it's low fragrance, I like it because it's all natural.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I like it because Mr.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Bronner, I can't remember his first name off the top of my head, was actually a political activist.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So they used to do um a lot of stuff old school, so you had to show up to and listen to the speech and you got something for free.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: So he used to give out sample bottles of um Dr.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Bronner's sales, and then he has several other products there, but they're uh legitimately, there's like I think 101 uses for salcide.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: You can use it in laundry, you can use it um diluted with water, you can use it as a multi-surface, you can use it in the shower, you can use it on countertops, you can use it on the outside of your refrigerator.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can use it everywhere.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: So um, I believe I left a list.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Let's see if I can find it real quick.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, we saw yes, so you can use it on counters, sink, stovetops, ovens, refrigerators, cabinets, dishes by hand, tubs, don't put that in your dishwasher.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: You'll regret it.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Because it'll just foam, foam up everywhere.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Um, toilets, tile, sealed floors, windows, mirrors, laundry, stain penetration.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: So if you want to do some stain removal, um, washable upholstery, toys, patio furniture, cars, camping gear, pet gear, paint, or makeup brushes.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Hey Heather.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: And um, it's general, so it's usually one tablespoon per 32 ounces of water for floors.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: It's one teaspoon per gallon.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Um, follow the care instructions, spot test first, rinse with food contact surfaces, skip automatic dishwashers, waxed wood, or bathing people or pets because it will dry you up.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: You'll be like a raisin.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: Um, Heather, I'll leave the link for you right down below and um under the live, and you can apply.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Did you have any questions?
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: I'm happy to answer since you're here about the scholarship or the structure, scale, and profit cleaning business academy.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Sorry, my dog's barking back there.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Miss Sassy Pants herself.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: I can hear her.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: She's arguing with the other dog.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll PM you about the scholarship.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: So if anyone doesn't have any questions, I will let you go.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: I'll do it one more time just in case.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: Alright, that looks like all the questions for now.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: If there's other questions later on after you guys rewatch the live or the replay, by all means, don't be shy.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: And I look forward to talking with you guys.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Take care.
