- 0:00Alright, if you guys would please turn to Hebrews chapter 3.
- 0:19We will not get through this entire message.
- 0:22Not gonna happen.
- 0:23Of course, I could keep you longer.
- 0:25No, I'm not gonna do that.
- 0:29Hebrews chapter 3.
- 0:33We really have walked since we've been walking through this letter.
- 0:37It's a very powerful letter.
- 0:41Every time I go through it, I know that we really don't know who the author is, but I
- 0:49get more and more convinced it's gotta be Tim.
- 0:51It's gotta be Paul.
- 0:53But either way.
- 0:56I want us to really think about some very important words that are used throughout
- 1:01this letter.
- 1:02There is a common thread, and this thread happens to be pretty large, concerning the
- 1:07issue of confidence and hope.
- 1:09And there's a specific word that is used to kind of help you understand the importance
- 1:13of that.
- 1:15And that is the thread I'm talking about.
- 1:16There's many threads that are important doctrinally through this letter, but there's one that
- 1:23I really want us to really kind of remember today.
- 1:28We have a tendency to not do this particular thing because it's hard.
- 1:35And so God does call us to the hard things.
- 1:39So we're gonna pray, and then we're gonna read, and then we're gonna go right into verse
- 1:447, et cetera, and you'll see what the importance here is, okay?
- 1:48Father, I wanna thank you so much.
- 1:51Thank you, Lord, for your word.
- 1:52I pray, Holy Spirit, that you would guide my words, that the full counsel of your word
- 1:58is spoken, and that we teach it, that I teach it in a way that honors and glorifies you,
- 2:07that we would grow in the full stature and maturity of Christ, that we understand the
- 2:11importance of this particular imperative as your people and what you are calling us to.
- 2:19Lord, we thank you and praise you that you are the example of this, and that is the reason
- 2:26why you are greater than Moses.
- 2:28Lord, we thank you and praise you.
- 2:31Though there are many reasons why you are greater, this is a very prevalent truth you
- 2:38are giving us, so we praise you and we thank you.
- 2:40In Jesus' name, amen.
- 2:43Hebrews chapter 3, verse 1 through 6 says this, therefore, holy brothers, you who share
- 2:50in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
- 2:57who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God's
- 3:04house, for Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, as much more glory
- 3:12as the builder of the house, has more honor than the house itself.
- 3:18For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
- 3:24Now, Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that
- 3:30were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son, and we are his
- 3:40house.
- 3:42If indeed we hold fast to our confidence and are boasting in our hope.
- 3:48Now, very important when we're thinking about some things here.
- 3:53First, I want to refer us back to verse 1, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider
- 4:01Jesus.
- 4:02Okay?
- 4:03So in order for us to understand this principle that I'm going to be talking about today,
- 4:09you have to consider Jesus.
- 4:12He has to be the focal point of all things in your life.
- 4:18He is what matters.
- 4:22Now, that being said, the writer then brings us to this ending statement in verse 6, and
- 4:30we are his house.
- 4:32I want you to hear that.
- 4:35We are his house.
- 4:38We are his people.
- 4:41We are his chosen people.
- 4:45He says that in Hebrews later on, which we will eventually get to.
- 4:51What does he say?
- 4:53You are a chosen people, a peculiar people, a holy nation, a people unto himself.
- 5:01Okay?
- 5:03So we are his house.
- 5:07This house is built by the hands of God.
- 5:09I want you to hear that.
- 5:11For every house is built by someone, and the builder of all things is God.
- 5:16And the one who owns the house is the son.
- 5:19It's his inheritance.
- 5:21We are that house.
- 5:23He doesn't have two houses.
- 5:25He has one house, which he brings two people in.
- 5:29Okay?
- 5:30So, that being said, this word confidence here, if indeed we hold fast, our confidence,
- 5:39the word confidence, parasea, means free and fearless confidence.
- 5:46We can have free and fearless confidence, a confidence that regardless if it cost you
- 5:53your life, you will gladly die and give it because your confidence is in Christ and he
- 6:00is the keeper of his promises.
- 6:03That's the point.
- 6:05Okay?
- 6:06So our confidence is free and fearless.
- 6:10We don't walk in fear.
- 6:12The second thing here I want you to notice is the word hope.
- 6:16Hope.
- 6:18The word hope is joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation.
- 6:25Or he who is its foundation.
- 6:29Your confidence is in Christ.
- 6:31He is our joyful expectation of our eternity.
- 6:36He.
- 6:37So our confidence is in Christ.
- 6:40Our hope is in Christ.
- 6:42He is the answer to those things.
- 6:45That being said, there's a clear thread I want us to see here.
- 6:51Here we go.
- 6:52How do we hold fast to our confidence and hope?
- 6:57Because remember it says that.
- 6:58If we hold fast our confidence and hope, this is a thread that we end up reading through
- 7:05in chapter three.
- 7:07So how do we hold fast?
- 7:09Hebrews chapter two verse one, therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we
- 7:17have heard, lest we drift away from it.
- 7:20How do we hold fast?
- 7:22We must pay closer attention to the gospel.
- 7:26If you don't, you will drift away from it.
- 7:29Hebrews three six, hold fast our confidence.
- 7:33Hebrews three fourteen, hold our original confidence firm to the end.
- 7:39Who is our confidence?
- 7:40Christ.
- 7:41What is our confidence?
- 7:42His gospel.
- 7:44We must hold fast to the original confidence firm to the end.
- 7:49Do you remember when you first heard the gospel?
- 7:52Did you really love God?
- 7:54No, you loved his story.
- 7:58What an amazing, beautiful story.
- 8:01Here you're told about the power and love of God through his son.
- 8:07God dies on the cross for you, was buried, rose again the third day and you go, man,
- 8:11I want to get to know that man.
- 8:14That is the confidence that we hold firm to the end.
- 8:18The original confidence is loving his gospel.
- 8:22Hold fast to the gospel.
- 8:25Chapter three verse eight and fifteen, do not harden your hearts.
- 8:30To what?
- 8:31The gospel.
- 8:33Do you see that's happening in our country today?
- 8:37How important is the full gospel of Jesus Christ where Jesus calls us to repent of our
- 8:42sin and believe the gospel?
- 8:45No, don't want to talk about that stuff anymore.
- 8:48We just love Jesus because he loves us.
- 8:51Not the issue that he hated sin so much that he had to destroy it.
- 8:58Now chapter four verse sixteen, let us then with confidence draw near.
- 9:07How do we continue to walk in this confidence to draw near, to know that you can come fearlessly
- 9:15before God?
- 9:18Chapter six verse eleven through twelve, and we desire each of you to show the same earnestness
- 9:26to have the full assurance of hope until the end so that you may not be sluggish but imitators
- 9:35of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
- 9:41You must earnestly with full assurance hold on to the hope you have.
- 9:49Don't be sluggish, don't be lazy.
- 9:51Be imitators of Christ.
- 9:54Moving on to the faith and being patient that he will give and do what he promised.
- 10:05Chapter ten verse twenty three through twenty five, this also clarifies later.
- 10:11I'll show this with Abraham.
- 10:12Chapter ten verse twenty three through twenty five, let us hold fast the confession of our
- 10:19hope without wavering for he who is promised is faithful.
- 10:25And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to
- 10:32meet together as in the habits of some but encouraging one another and all the more as
- 10:39you see the day drawing near.
- 10:42So how do we hold on to the confidence that we have?
- 10:45How do we hold on to making sure that we are boldly walking in the hope that we have?
- 10:52Well we must hold fast to the confession of the gospel, to the confession of Christ without
- 10:59wavering.
- 11:03We don't water it down because it's convenient for people to make them happy.
- 11:08We're honest.
- 11:09We don't waver from the truth of God because it's inconvenient.
- 11:14Then he also says consider how to stir one another up in love and good works.
- 11:21How do we challenge each other to walk in this newness of life and do what God has commanded
- 11:27us to do in his word?
- 11:30Are we stirring each other on to obedience?
- 11:33That's the proof of love, right?
- 11:36If you love me, you will obey me.
- 11:39And real true love is seen in what we do.
- 11:44You show me faith without works.
- 11:48I show you my faith by what I do.
- 11:51I don't do good works to get faith.
- 11:56I do good works because I have faith.
- 11:59And so he says not neglecting to meet together.
- 12:03This is probably the one that drives probably most pastors crazy.
- 12:08Not because here at least I could care less if you give anything.
- 12:14God owns it all and his money, his life, his church, his property, right?
- 12:24We don't come, I don't ask for any of that.
- 12:27I want you here because we are able to stir one another up to love and good works.
- 12:33I want you here because I love you.
- 12:36We love you.
- 12:37We miss you.
- 12:38We need you.
- 12:40We're part of the body.
- 12:42If one of the bodies is sick and missing, it affects every one of us.
- 12:46And so it's important that we really don't neglect to meet together.
- 12:52Don't find excuses.
- 12:54I know this is being recorded so that's good.
- 12:57Because I'm going to tell all those parents who take their kids to sports on Sunday, don't
- 13:02take your kids to sports on Sunday.
- 13:04Bring your kids to church.
- 13:07Those sports aren't going to save your kids.
- 13:11You're going to lose your kids.
- 13:16Drives me crazy.
- 13:18And it's hard because our kids are so wrapped up in things that they fall in love with.
- 13:24And then when they get older, and I'm speaking to myself here, all they desire is the thing
- 13:31that they want.
- 13:36They walk away from the living God.
- 13:38And then they wonder why their lives are all a mess.
- 13:44And so, I'm yelling at myself on that one.
- 13:50And so we must not neglect to meet together.
- 13:55It's important.
- 13:56Isn't it nice when you work together?
- 13:58I mean we were really encouraged yesterday.
- 14:01Isn't it nice when we see each other and we go, I miss you.
- 14:05I love you.
- 14:06I love you.
- 14:07I hug you.
- 14:08You know, side hug with the ladies.
- 14:13Hug with the dudes.
- 14:14You got to do the man hug with the dudes.
- 14:15You know?
- 14:16To keep it biblical.
- 14:22So getting together.
- 14:23Don't neglect to meet together.
- 14:26As in a habit are some, and we know that habit is pretty bad, but encourage one another.
- 14:32How?
- 14:33Because we know the day is coming.
- 14:37When you encourage someone, you're asking them and challenging them to endure.
- 14:43And so, we have this.
- 14:46Chapter 10, verse 35 and 36.
- 14:48Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward, for you have need
- 14:57of endurance so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what is promised.
- 15:05Do not throw away your confidence.
- 15:10Draw near to God.
- 15:11Hold fast.
- 15:14Be earnest in the assurance you have.
- 15:17Don't be sluggish.
- 15:18Be imitators.
- 15:19Be patient.
- 15:21Hold fast to the confidence without wavering.
- 15:24Consider how you should stir one another up in love and good works.
- 15:28Don't neglect to meet together.
- 15:30Encourage one another.
- 15:31Don't throw all that away.
- 15:35My brother or sister offended me.
- 15:37I don't know if I can be here anymore.
- 15:41You threw it away.
- 15:44Don't throw it away.
- 15:48We're not here to make each other comfortable.
- 15:51We're here to sharpen each other that we would be godly, holy people of God.
- 15:57That's the point.
- 16:01Especially in these days.
- 16:03Oh my goodness.
- 16:06I was watching this video on the alpha males.
- 16:13This guy is cursing out this Christian guy who's supposed to be an alpha Christian about
- 16:20how he's a sissy because he loves his wife and he doesn't have money and he doesn't have
- 16:24a six pack.
- 16:25I'm like what an idiot.
- 16:29You define your manhood based on what you have and based on the way you look.
- 16:35How superficial.
- 16:37I can't wait until you turn 60 and 70 years old.
- 16:41What a good look you're going to be then buddy.
- 16:44Like you're going to rot just like the rest of us.
- 16:48It's all false.
- 16:54Where's your confidence?
- 16:55Oh yeah, yeah, you can be started.
- 17:00This world's nuts.
- 17:02Verse 39.
- 17:03Chapter 10 verse 39.
- 17:06He says this, but we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those
- 17:14who have faith and preserve their souls.
- 17:19We if we walk in the confidence of the gospel of Christ, then we don't shrink back.
- 17:27We don't back up.
- 17:28We don't terror.
- 17:31We're not destroyed, but we are of the people of faith and we do preserve our souls.
- 17:40Chapter 11 verse 1.
- 17:42Here it is.
- 17:43Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen.
- 17:51We know what the truth is.
- 17:54Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside
- 18:02every weight and sin which clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race that
- 18:10is set before us.
- 18:12So important.
- 18:15Why is that so important that we run with endurance the race set before us?
- 18:21Why is it important that we lay aside every weight and sin that which clings so closely?
- 18:28Because if we don't, you will walk away from your confidence.
- 18:37Feel true men of God and women of God fearlessly and confidently walk with him in the freedom
- 18:50that Christ has given.
- 18:51You want to be free?
- 18:54Walk in him.
- 18:56True freedom.
- 18:57So endurance, that's the answer here.
- 19:01If you've read all these verses, there's a clear thread here.
- 19:05Endure.
- 19:06Endure in the faith.
- 19:07Fight for the faith.
- 19:09Walk in Christ.
- 19:10Contend for the gospel.
- 19:12It's the same constant message because it's the only thing we have.
- 19:16It's him.
- 19:18So we must endure with Christ.
- 19:20We must endure in Christ and we must endure by the faith of Christ.
- 19:26So principle number one.
- 19:31One ministry that the Holy Spirit does for us is confirming our confidence and hope.
- 19:36He reminds us what we must not forget and encourages us what we must hold fast to, which
- 19:44is our hope.
- 19:47Hebrews chapter three, verse seven through 11.
- 19:50Therefore, in other words, you know what he said, why that's there.
- 19:54Every Baptist always says the same thing.
- 19:57Therefore is therefore because it's there for.
- 20:00No, it means pay attention.
- 20:04That's what it means.
- 20:05What's there for, why is therefore there?
- 20:08Therefore.
- 20:09Okay.
- 20:10Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, isn't that interesting?
- 20:17That the writer is letting us know that the Holy Spirit is speaking to us through his
- 20:23word.
- 20:24If you want to hear the voice of God, listen to his word.
- 20:30You're not going to be out in the middle of the, you know, on your climb or your hike.
- 20:35And then all of a sudden you're going to hear an audible voice going, Joe.
- 20:41Yes, Lord.
- 20:42It doesn't work that way.
- 20:44It's not how it is.
- 20:46It's here.
- 20:47It's right here.
- 20:48The Holy Spirit says today, interesting word, today means what?
- 20:56This very day.
- 20:59This very day, if you hear his voice, imperative, here it is, do not harden your hearts as in
- 21:08the rebellion.
- 21:11So I'm going to say something.
- 21:15Priscilla Shriver always has been talking about this.
- 21:18You know you can hear the voice of God.
- 21:21It's word.
- 21:23He's speaking through his word because literally what the writer is saying is says therefore
- 21:28as the Holy Spirit says, verse seven through 11 of Hebrews is also Psalm 95, seven through
- 21:4011.
- 21:42Ouch.
- 21:43Is that a quinky dink?
- 21:45I don't think so.
- 21:46I don't think that's a coincidence at all.
- 21:49Why?
- 21:50Because we want to find all other kinds of ways for God to speak to us, but we don't
- 21:54want to spend time in here because in here we see the real true character and holiness
- 21:59of God and our condition as a sinner.
- 22:02We want some supernatural experience with God and we end up missing what he says in
- 22:08here.
- 22:09So what does this guy say?
- 22:10If you want to hear the Holy Spirit's voice, it's right there.
- 22:15What's interesting about the Holy Spirit is he is in essence exactly and identically as
- 22:21the son, as the son is in his essence exactly and identically as the father because they
- 22:28are God.
- 22:32So the Holy Spirit is speaking here.
- 22:34So when you're reading the word and Jesus is speaking to you through his word, the Holy
- 22:39Spirit is speaking to you through his word.
- 22:43So the Holy Spirit says to you today, this very day, if you hear his voice, imperative,
- 22:52do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
- 22:55On the day of testing in the wilderness where your fathers put me to the test and saw my
- 23:07works for 40 years.
- 23:10That's the Spirit speaking.
- 23:14Isn't that interesting?
- 23:15Have you ever noticed that?
- 23:18The Spirit is saying you put me to the test.
- 23:21The Spirit is saying you rebelled against me.
- 23:24The Spirit is saying you hardened your hearts towards me and you saw what I did for 40 years.
- 23:3440 years of manna, 40 years of water, 40 years of your sandals not being ruined, 40 years
- 23:42I took care of you in the desert and all you could do was complain.
- 23:49You hated me that much and you know what?
- 23:52You hated me that much and I still took you out of Egypt.
- 23:57Think about that.
- 23:59God delivered them out of Egypt though they hated him.
- 24:05Wow.
- 24:07Ouch.
- 24:09And so he says, look what it says in verse 10, therefore because of this I was provoked
- 24:18with that generation and said they always go astray in their heart.
- 24:25They have not known my ways.
- 24:27Do you see the link there?
- 24:30They have already decided in their heart that they will not obey me.
- 24:37They always go astray.
- 24:41Not sometimes, not when they choose to.
- 24:45They are bent that way.
- 24:48They are going to do it regardless.
- 24:51Why?
- 24:53Because they have not known.
- 24:55That word not, that means to know means to know intimately as if it was part of them.
- 25:00They didn't know my ways.
- 25:02As I swore in my wrath, I want you to hear this, he says I swore in my wrath towards
- 25:10them they will not, they shall not enter my rest.
- 25:14They are not coming into the promised land.
- 25:18Ouch.
- 25:19That's painful.
- 25:21Do you see the link?
- 25:27Disobedience does not produce endurance and a lack of endurance produces what?
- 25:34Very lazy and complaining people.
- 25:41Second principle, our lasting endurance is in Christ.
- 25:47See what Moses could not do for the people of Israel.
- 25:50Jesus has done by transforming the hearts of his people and placing them, placing in
- 25:57them the full assurance and confidence of his promises.
- 26:01That's the one thing that the people of Israel did not have.
- 26:05They did not have the confidence that God would keep his promise.
- 26:09Think about that.
- 26:11So not only does he make a promise which was given to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, which then
- 26:17he uses Joseph to save his people and then at a particular time when all the first born
- 26:23are dead except for one, Moses, he pulls Moses out, prepares Moses to pull his people out
- 26:30of Israel, pulls his people out of Israel.
- 26:33They watch him part the sea.
- 26:36Not only all the plagues, but he parts the Red Sea and gets to the other side and what
- 26:42do they do?
- 26:43Complain.
- 26:44You know what?
- 26:46We should have stayed in Egypt where all the melons and the fish were.
- 26:49I love them watermelons.
- 26:51I love them cantaloupes and them honeydews.
- 26:54Yeah, they want that.
- 26:56They didn't want their freedom.
- 26:58They wanted their melons and their fish.
- 27:02So what does God do?
- 27:03In his loving kindness, he gives them manna.
- 27:07What is that?
- 27:08Happens to be the best tasting food they ever had in their life.
- 27:12This little flake that tastes like honey and had every nutrient they could ever need to
- 27:17survive.
- 27:18I mean, I don't know about you, but I think I could do that and not even gain weight.
- 27:23They can eat as much as they want.
- 27:24Oh my goodness.
- 27:27Then they complain, we don't have any meat.
- 27:29Okay, fine.
- 27:30I'll give you quail.
- 27:32You can splice the quail up any way you choose, but what do they do?
- 27:37Complain about the quail.
- 27:38We're thirsty, don't have water.
- 27:40Moses touches the rock the first time, he smacks the right the second time.
- 27:45Gives them water.
- 27:46What do they do?
- 27:48Complain.
- 27:49He gives them the Ten Commandments.
- 27:50He tells them the Ten Commandments verbally.
- 27:52He then writes it with his own finger, cuts out the tablets with his own hands.
- 27:56They end up doing something they weren't supposed to do, which was build an idol out of silver
- 28:02and gold.
- 28:04After he warns them not to do it, they do it anyway.
- 28:08Moses breaks the tablets, goes back up, takes two tablets and God gives them the commandments
- 28:12again.
- 28:13Do you see the point?
- 28:16The point is they hated God when they were in Egypt.
- 28:21They're never satisfied.
- 28:24And what do we call them?
- 28:25God's chosen people.
- 28:28Are we serious?
- 28:30No.
- 28:32God's chosen people are obedient people.
- 28:35Are there Jews within that group that are the remnant, who are believers, who are obedient?
- 28:43Yes.
- 28:44We are his building.
- 28:46We are his people.
- 28:48Let's get used to the reality of that.
- 28:51It's crazy.
- 28:56It's mind boggling for me.
- 28:59And so what does he tell you to do?
- 29:01Endure.
- 29:02Hold on to Christ.
- 29:04Keep the gospel.
- 29:05Be obedient people.
- 29:10So Christ was far better than Moses.
- 29:14Moses could not get his people to endure because they did not have a heart of obedience.
- 29:22And the reason why they didn't have a heart of obedience is because Moses could not transform
- 29:25the heart.
- 29:27But Jesus did.
- 29:29Isn't that wonderful?
- 29:32And then he says in Hebrews chapter three, verse 12 through 15, take care, brothers,
- 29:39lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart leading you to fall away from the living
- 29:48God.
- 29:51Take care, brothers.
- 29:54Endure, brothers.
- 29:58Fight for the faith, brothers.
- 30:02Guard your heart above all else because out of it flow the issues of life, brothers.
- 30:08Take care of what was given to you, brothers.
- 30:15But exhort one another, verse 13, every day as long as it's called today that none of
- 30:24you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
- 30:29Do you get it?
- 30:30See, the people of Israel hated God.
- 30:37They didn't want God.
- 30:39So when God came as a man, what do you think they were going to do?
- 30:43They didn't want him in the wilderness.
- 30:45They didn't want the miracles.
- 30:47They didn't want to die because they were just like sissies.
- 30:50But they didn't want Christ.
- 30:53Christ said, I came to my own.
- 30:55My own did not receive me.
- 30:56Don't want me either.
- 30:59You didn't want me then.
- 31:00You don't want me now.
- 31:02And we're still dealing with that today.
- 31:05We must be a light.
- 31:07We must hold to the confidence.
- 31:08We must share the love of the gospel with every creature so that out of all the creatures,
- 31:15God will save his people.
- 31:20And let's keep reading.
- 31:25But exhort one another every day as long as it's called today.
- 31:29Exhort, challenge, push each other.
- 31:34You can't do that if we're not hanging out with each other.
- 31:37And that's what he says here.
- 31:40That none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin, for we have come to share in Christ.
- 31:50If indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
- 31:56What did we share in Christ?
- 31:57Chapter 2 verse 10, look what it says here.
- 32:01For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons
- 32:08to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
- 32:17If God used Christ's suffering to bring glory, what makes you think that you're exempt?
- 32:26We share in his suffering.
- 32:29Here's the point, chapter 2 verse 14 through 18.
- 32:32Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of
- 32:39the same things that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death,
- 32:46that is the adversary, the accuser, the devil.
- 32:55And it's not the devil as the person, it's our sin.
- 33:00And then it says, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong
- 33:08slavery.
- 33:09He has freed you.
- 33:12For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
- 33:20Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every aspect so that he might become a
- 33:25merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God to make propitiation for the sins of
- 33:31the people.
- 33:32Why?
- 33:33For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
- 33:40So when we read verse 14, he says, for we have come to share in Christ, do you know
- 33:45why?
- 33:49Why have we come to share in Christ?
- 33:52Because this is his way.
- 33:54He has become like us so that we would become like him.
- 34:01If indeed, if we endure, if we prove, hold, work out our salvation, that's what this means,
- 34:12our original confidence from TDM.
- 34:15What is your original confidence?
- 34:16The gospel.
- 34:17That God will, Christ will do what he promised.
- 34:25And that's why he says in verse 15, as it is said today, this very day, if you hear
- 34:33his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
- 34:39Today, if you hear the spirit's voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
- 34:53The heart is deceitful above all else who can know it.
- 34:56I'm going to end there, because that's where I ended in first service.
- 35:03But I hope you're getting the point.
- 35:08Do we really, as God's people, really understand and know how to endure?
- 35:13Or do we just complain because we don't like the discomfort?
- 35:19Know men and women of God, understand the freedom they have in Christ, and fearlessly,
- 35:25fearlessly walk in the confidence of the gospel and of Christ.
- 35:30We commit to living in his ways, being obedient, because that's how we show the world we love
- 35:38him.
- 35:39And we read that we have love one for another.
- 35:44That's on Wednesday nights.
- 35:47We show the world that we are his disciples if we love one another.
- 35:51It all connects.
- 35:54Father, I want to thank you.
- 35:58You are holy, good, righteous, and true.
- 36:01Thank you for your amazing word.
- 36:02Help us to endure and help us as we continue to think through these scriptures and the
- 36:08message coming next week.
- 36:09As we finish that part up, I pray, Lord, that you would be working in the hearts of your
- 36:14people for your glory in Jesus' name.
- 36:15Amen.
