- 0:01Speaker 1: In this corner, standing at six foot five, weight class unknowns,
- 0:04Speaker 1: but hailing from the city of Sands.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Put your hands together for Jamison Welch.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And in this corner, standing at five foot ten, weighing
- 0:11Speaker 1: in at pound and coming to us from his super
- 0:15Speaker 1: secret bunker with no AC in Tucson, Arizona. Put your
- 0:18Speaker 1: hands together for Luis Montemao. All right, thank you, Welcome
- 0:27Speaker 1: back to another episode of Mixed Comedy Podcast. I'm not
- 0:30Speaker 1: sure this is a full episode or a shorty, but
- 0:32Speaker 1: either way we've got a lot to cover in the
- 0:34Speaker 1: short amount of times. Or ain't get right to it.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Of course, I'm one half of the show. My name
- 0:38Speaker 1: is Jamison, as always, joined by Luis Louis. What's going on, man,
- 0:43Speaker 1: Man Jamison.
- 0:44Speaker 3: We had a hell of a weekend for boxing. We
- 0:46Speaker 3: had an amazing fight, fights, amazing night of boxing. On Saturday,
- 0:51Speaker 3: we had Xanders Ayes going up against Boots NS. Fight
- 0:54Speaker 3: was very much looking forward to, absolutely awesome fun time,
- 1:00Speaker 3: a lot of energy, lots of activity, lots of punching,
- 1:05Speaker 3: lots of people. Xander's I is hitting the canvas unfortunately,
- 1:09Speaker 3: and I was rooting for him. But my guy, you know,
- 1:11Speaker 3: was knocked out in the seventh round by Boots, but
- 1:14Speaker 3: incredible performance all the way through.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Let's start here. You had said, correct.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Me if I'm characterizing your words wrong, but that you
- 1:22Speaker 3: you know Boots, that gets a lot of hype, but
- 1:24Speaker 3: you still needed to see something from him, like something
- 1:26Speaker 3: special from him.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Right, how do you feel now? You know? What do
- 1:29Speaker 4: you think about the performance we saw on Saturday?
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's still a.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Little bit better. I mean it wasn't I wasn't expecting.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I mean, he knew what he was supposed to do.
- 1:36Speaker 1: With that being said, it's more about taking the next
- 1:38Speaker 1: step up in comp like that's the next biggest thing.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Because yes, it's talented, he skillful, Yeah, he has all
- 1:46Speaker 1: the goods.
- 1:46Speaker 2: That's not a question. Now it's more of.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Like, hey, can you put him in the ring with
- 1:50Speaker 1: somebody that has equal or greater talent than he has?
- 1:54Speaker 2: That asks me the next step. So it's looking like
- 1:57Speaker 2: from some of.
- 1:57Speaker 1: The words we're hearing and some of the murders we're hearing,
- 2:00Speaker 1: it sounded like he's gonna get that opportunity sooner later.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So that's good to hear. But I'm glad I took
- 2:05Speaker 2: care of business.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Third round is kind of rough third round.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You know, you know, he uh, he proved they could
- 2:11Speaker 1: take a punch. What's good. By the end of the day,
- 2:13Speaker 1: he took care of business. That's all you want guy
- 2:14Speaker 1: to do. The fight was in Brooklyn. I would have
- 2:18Speaker 1: liked to see that fight in Philly if it could
- 2:20Speaker 1: have been done, but Brooklyn's close enough, so they're not
- 2:22Speaker 1: gonna nitpick about it. With all that being said and done,
- 2:25Speaker 1: it was a good night overall.
- 2:27Speaker 4: One hundred percent.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And I would say this is just my take how
- 2:31Speaker 3: I perceive it, and the you know, the things I
- 2:33Speaker 3: hear on my what do you call, you know, my
- 2:36Speaker 3: algorithm pops up.
- 2:37Speaker 4: You know, Xander's eyes seemed to be the.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Bigger name, you know, the the bigger draw. So I figured,
- 2:42Speaker 3: you know, they went to Brooklyn because you know, he's
- 2:44Speaker 3: Puerto Rican guy in New York, et cetera.
- 2:47Speaker 4: A lot of fan base there.
- 2:48Speaker 3: But I don't know, I mean, I definitely not that
- 2:50Speaker 3: I haven't heard of Boots Sennis before, you know, not
- 2:52Speaker 3: that I had not, I haven't seen him fight, But
- 2:54Speaker 3: it just seems to me personally that Xander was a
- 2:56Speaker 3: little bit more in the in the conversation, in the
- 2:59Speaker 3: in the zeitgeise, right. But but yeah, you know, I
- 3:02Speaker 3: actually didn't even I don't think we mentioned this before.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Did you expect Boots to win?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Oh?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I wasn't.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah that was always planned. I wasn't.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I wasn't really thinking about anything else. I'm glad he
- 3:15Speaker 1: won the way he won. But yeah, I mean it's
- 3:17Speaker 1: a tuna fight. It's one of those things where he's
- 3:20Speaker 1: fighting this for the next fight.
- 3:23Speaker 2: It's not like a about twelve rounds was really closed.
- 3:26Speaker 1: This is a hey, let's stay in shape, stay in two,
- 3:29Speaker 1: let's get prepared for the next one, which might be
- 3:31Speaker 1: a big fight for Boots.
- 3:32Speaker 2: So it was a good night overall. Good night. He
- 3:35Speaker 2: accomplished a mission and that's all you can ask for.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a little bit more faith in Xander.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Have been a fan of his for a while. I
- 3:41Speaker 3: can't remember the first time I saw him fight, but
- 3:43Speaker 3: it might.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Have been it was early on.
- 3:45Speaker 3: It might have been on one of the cards that
- 3:46Speaker 3: Shakur was on as well, one of those early hype
- 3:49Speaker 3: fights that he had, and the kid looked amazing just
- 3:52Speaker 3: right off the bat. I was like, holy crap, this
- 3:53Speaker 3: kid's got talent. And not to say that he doesn't,
- 3:55Speaker 3: you know, And not to say that this proves he
- 3:57Speaker 3: doesn't or anything like that, but yeah, I definitely when
- 4:01Speaker 3: Xander's eyes went down the first round, after that, I
- 4:04Speaker 3: was like, well, it's still anybody's fight, you know, because
- 4:06Speaker 3: Xander had a great round three. But shortly after that,
- 4:09Speaker 3: I think four and on, it was just pretty clear
- 4:11Speaker 3: that Zena's eyes didn't have it, and uh it was
- 4:16Speaker 3: it was ab.
- 4:16Speaker 4: But here's the thing.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I'm still happy that Boots won. You know, I'm not
- 4:19Speaker 3: sitting here like, as I've said before, I'm not going
- 4:22Speaker 3: to be like, oh, Boots is actually trash, he's actually overrated.
- 4:27Speaker 4: He blah blah blah blah. He had a great night.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yeah he won squair and square, you know, respect.
- 4:32Speaker 1: And here's the thing, he very may well be like
- 4:35Speaker 1: we don't know yet, but that not he wasn't you
- 4:37Speaker 1: know what I mean that he was really good. Now,
- 4:40Speaker 1: if he fights someone, you know, three months from now,
- 4:43Speaker 1: four months from now, that could be the case. And
- 4:46Speaker 1: I was saying, will but it could be, but we
- 4:48Speaker 1: got waiting to see. But yeah, that and I know
- 4:50Speaker 1: he did what he's supposed.
- 4:51Speaker 3: To do, absolutely, and yeah, I'm a fan of his
- 4:53Speaker 3: two and I'm definitely excited to see the next big fight.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Uh and you know, hopefully bigger names for him.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And shout out to Xander Zias for two reasons. Number one,
- 5:01Speaker 3: you know, he came back in the ring. Last time
- 5:03Speaker 3: we saw him was in January, and it was actually
- 5:07Speaker 3: the same night as the Shakhor Stevenson versus Tail female fight,
- 5:11Speaker 3: because I remember I was out at a bar watching
- 5:13Speaker 3: a sports bar, watching a Chakor on the screen, and
- 5:16Speaker 3: I had Xander's ayas on my phone on the table
- 5:19Speaker 3: at the spot.
- 5:21Speaker 2: That's right.
- 5:22Speaker 3: But yeah, so him coming back right away in June.
- 5:25Speaker 3: You know we've said it before. You know, we're like
- 5:28Speaker 3: a broken record on the show. Guys need to fight
- 5:29Speaker 3: more often. So shout out to him for coming back,
- 5:33Speaker 3: you know, so soon. And gave a shout out to
- 5:36Speaker 3: Tail Femo Lopez as well, possibly coming back in August.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Fighting twice this year, and it's I don't know, man, there's.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Still time for another fight before in the end of
- 5:43Speaker 4: twenty twenty six ender. You know, let's there's no reason
- 5:46Speaker 4: why I say that I haven't been in the room myself.
- 5:49Speaker 1: But didn't he leave in the ambulance? Uh?
- 5:53Speaker 4: Yeah, he did.
- 5:54Speaker 3: He did wasn't a serious right, as far as I know,
- 6:01Speaker 3: was precautionary.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I didn't see anything or read anything that there was
- 6:05Speaker 3: like a serious injury.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 3: People tend to kind of make a big deal about
- 6:10Speaker 3: these kind of things where there's an article like Xander's
- 6:12Speaker 3: eyes left in an ambulance, like, well, he was just
- 6:15Speaker 3: in a boxing match, you know, he got to ask
- 6:16Speaker 3: kick like everything. I think every boxer should leave an ambulance,
- 6:20Speaker 3: to be quite honest with you, after a fight, even
- 6:22Speaker 3: if you win, I don't know.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Nah, Now, well it depends like if you have an injury, yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 1: if you're there's if there are certain certain injuries. Absolutely,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I know in Vegas there's literally hospitals within light seven
- 6:37Speaker 1: minutes away from the strip, so it's not an issue.
- 6:40Speaker 1: But in general, I I get where you coming from.
- 6:42Speaker 1: But if you if you go through twelve rounds and
- 6:44Speaker 1: you don't have no star or no marks on you,
- 6:47Speaker 1: then you should be able to go home and go
- 6:48Speaker 1: and do your night.
- 6:50Speaker 4: That's right.
- 6:51Speaker 3: It might be kind of it might be hyperbole, but
- 6:53Speaker 3: I guess at the end of the day, the boxing
- 6:56Speaker 3: is so damn intense, and yeah, even if you win,
- 6:58Speaker 3: you know, very few people get it with finished hoe
- 7:02Speaker 3: rounds and not get caught, you know, a couple of
- 7:05Speaker 3: times with a little strong hook in the head, you know,
- 7:08Speaker 3: or anything like that. So sometimes people get acidentally hit
- 7:11Speaker 3: in the back of the head and everything seems cool
- 7:13Speaker 3: for a little bit, you know, and then that.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Injury can become really serious.
- 7:16Speaker 3: So but anyway, the point I was making is that, yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 3: it was precautionary.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I don't think people should freak out or there's something
- 7:24Speaker 4: to certain states they have a rule.
- 7:27Speaker 3: That boxes have to be out of the ring for
- 7:30Speaker 3: a certain amount of time and they call it a suspension,
- 7:33Speaker 3: you know, just again for recovery time, make sure that
- 7:35Speaker 3: they're being safe, this and that. And there's see so
- 7:39Speaker 3: many clickbaiting articles that I hate that it was just like, oh,
- 7:41Speaker 3: such and such suspended from boxing for three months or whatever.
- 7:45Speaker 4: But that's just standard.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Again, it depends on the state, the commission, et cetera.
- 7:49Speaker 3: People really, some websites really try to make it into
- 7:51Speaker 3: a whole thing.
- 7:52Speaker 4: It's clicked. But I kind of hate it.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But I feel you. I feel you.
- 7:59Speaker 1: No, Actually, I'm glad that we do take more precautionaries
- 8:02Speaker 1: now than ever before. So I am glad guys getting
- 8:05Speaker 1: checked out, And I wait because back in the day
- 8:07Speaker 1: it wasn't like that. Guys just had injuries and it's
- 8:10Speaker 1: went on about the night. So no, I flee you
- 8:13Speaker 1: on that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Another thing about this fight, you know, people are calling
- 8:17Speaker 3: it a potential fight.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Of the year. I'm starting to think, you know, I'm
- 8:20Speaker 4: feeling that way. I don't know about you.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Is there anything else we've seen this year that you
- 8:24Speaker 3: know is you know, not saying that it is, but
- 8:26Speaker 3: definitely like a contender.
- 8:28Speaker 4: It's up there for the first it.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Was cool the year is a bit much.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I mean, that's not a great thing if that's one
- 8:36Speaker 1: of the fights of the year per se.
- 8:38Speaker 2: But I well, no, it's six months mark.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I mean we yeah, we well, well, well we'll come
- 8:49Speaker 1: back to this.
- 8:49Speaker 2: We'll come back. Okay.
- 8:50Speaker 4: That's that's fair. That's fair. Well, and you know what,
- 8:53Speaker 4: I do have something say on that.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I'm okay with that being like I said in consideration
- 8:57Speaker 3: in one of the discussions, fight of the year, I'm
- 8:58Speaker 3: cool with that.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But I think it may be just.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Because when we have a lot of really good boxing,
- 9:04Speaker 3: then we have some kind of like a dead zone
- 9:07Speaker 3: for a while, and I think it might just be
- 9:10Speaker 3: that people might not it might not be expecting a
- 9:11Speaker 3: lot out of this year, just true, right, because the
- 9:16Speaker 3: previous years is just kind of like, oh, we have
- 9:17Speaker 3: a couple of good fights and then like three or
- 9:19Speaker 3: four months of you know, quiet time, and then a
- 9:21Speaker 3: couple of good fights, et cetera. This year has actually
- 9:24Speaker 3: been great, Like I've really really felt the excitement of
- 9:26Speaker 3: twenty twenty six for like so many matches, even the
- 9:29Speaker 3: ones that aren't like huge names, you know, really good.
- 9:33Speaker 3: There have been actual great fights in the ring between
- 9:36Speaker 3: the two guys, and then we've had them, you know,
- 9:38Speaker 3: like we said before, pretty much every week this summer.
- 9:42Speaker 3: We've got a couple more coming up as well as
- 9:43Speaker 3: some big names in July.
- 9:46Speaker 4: But I don't know, I mean, I'm.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Okay with this is because just the level of activity,
- 9:51Speaker 3: the excitement both from like the crowd me at home.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I've seen I started seeing Puerto Rican fans on TikTok,
- 9:57Speaker 3: you know in round three, you know, getting all hyped
- 9:59Speaker 3: up for the fight at home, just like screaming, shouting
- 10:03Speaker 3: in the sweet and it was really cool to see. Unfortunately,
- 10:05Speaker 3: there there's no videos of those Puerto Rican fans in
- 10:08Speaker 3: round seven. Uh, we're TikTok, but just yeah, this year
- 10:13Speaker 3: excitement and just how the level of activity not boring
- 10:17Speaker 3: by any means. I'm okay with a discussion, but yeah,
- 10:19Speaker 3: we can table it for now and we'll just see
- 10:20Speaker 3: what what the rest of the year bring brings us.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Another thing that happened yet again, the MILLIONO Vodicus was
- 10:26Speaker 3: also on that card.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Fourth round, Ko and kids looking good. You know, I
- 10:33Speaker 4: there is a lot.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Of chatter about you know, could he eventually be the
- 10:36Speaker 3: new face of boxing?
- 10:38Speaker 4: Uh, that's another one.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I'm I'm okay with the discussions of Dust being a
- 10:42Speaker 3: big star based on what we've seen from him so far.
- 10:45Speaker 4: What are your thoughts on this kid? And you know,
- 10:47Speaker 4: his his track record so far.
- 10:49Speaker 2: It looks looks impressive, man.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Like, that's the biggest thing I think for me, whenever
- 10:53Speaker 1: I hear about somebody's name, my first glance at them
- 10:57Speaker 1: has to be impressed.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Impressive, has to Oh I see what people were talking about.
- 11:02Speaker 1: That's always a good thing because the one thing you
- 11:04Speaker 1: don't want if people hide somebody up and you're like.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Nah, like nah, or they're.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Cool at the lower they're at right, So if you
- 11:13Speaker 1: got a guy fighting like at one thirty one thirty five,
- 11:15Speaker 1: and he's fighting somebody that's just okay, and he's not
- 11:18Speaker 1: like dominating them. You kind of know that this person's
- 11:21Speaker 1: kind of limited. You kind of know, hey, they're gonna
- 11:24Speaker 1: be they don't know so far, they'll be on some cars.
- 11:27Speaker 1: They're not going to be like a fighter fighter. So
- 11:29Speaker 1: you kind of have to you know, gauge that kind
- 11:32Speaker 1: of stuff out and kind of just go with the flow.
- 11:35Speaker 2: But I was impressed. And for me, when I.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Get impressed with a guy after I hear a lot
- 11:38Speaker 1: of hype, it's always good because then I'm like, okay,
- 11:41Speaker 1: now I look forward to the next fight, and then
- 11:42Speaker 1: I get a little bit more crucial with the you know,
- 11:45Speaker 1: analyzing and the judgment of the fire.
- 11:48Speaker 2: So it's all good. Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 3: One thing I really hope doesn't happen, my God, is
- 11:52Speaker 3: that you know, kid gets over hype, gets in over
- 11:55Speaker 3: his head, takes a big fight really fast, you know, definitely,
- 11:58Speaker 3: Like like I said, there's a lot of positive chatter
- 12:01Speaker 3: around him as a future star, and that's okay, but
- 12:04Speaker 3: let's not get let's not put the cart before the
- 12:07Speaker 3: horse and you know, start hyping this kid up as
- 12:10Speaker 3: you know, the savior of boxing blah blah blah, and
- 12:13Speaker 3: then have him flame out like we've seen a bunch
- 12:15Speaker 3: of times, right, So you know, I let's let's keep
- 12:19Speaker 3: we'll both be keeping an eye on him. But so far, yeah,
- 12:21Speaker 3: everything I've seen from him has been awesome, Like you said, dominating,
- 12:25Speaker 3: and you know, we'll, uh, we'll see where he pops
- 12:29Speaker 3: up next. I was very lucky to get to see
- 12:31Speaker 3: him fight in person and in Phoenix a few months ago,
- 12:34Speaker 3: earlier this year, and it was just it was great,
- 12:37Speaker 3: you know it. It was really cool to to experience that.
- 12:40Speaker 3: And I really liked the idea of kind of seeing
- 12:43Speaker 3: the young guys that could potentially make it and become
- 12:45Speaker 3: stars kind of when they're when they're up and coming.
- 12:48Speaker 3: So yeah, that's something that I haven't really felt in
- 12:52Speaker 3: a long time as well. You know, again we've said
- 12:55Speaker 3: it before, not building up as many stars, not developing
- 12:58Speaker 3: as many guys.
- 13:00Speaker 4: But I don't know. I think I think I have
- 13:02Speaker 4: caustiously optimistic, but I think I really I really want
- 13:05Speaker 4: to put my faith in this kid. Does that make sense? No?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Wrong? I mean, here's the thing that's what makes boxing great, right,
- 13:11Speaker 1: we all have our guys. Everyone has their guy or
- 13:13Speaker 1: guys that they like and that they want to go
- 13:16Speaker 1: full behind. That's what makes boxing great.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yes, there's also the superstars that we all like or
- 13:22Speaker 1: love or we have opinions about. What makes boxing great
- 13:25Speaker 1: is our guys are our guys like Jail Krale's was
- 13:30Speaker 1: my guy for a long time. And it wasn't because
- 13:33Speaker 1: he was like a Hall of Fame boxer. He was
- 13:36Speaker 1: just that a guy I watched fighting. That's just how
- 13:38Speaker 1: it That's how I went. I grew up in Pomona, California.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Sugar Shane Mosley grew up is from Pomona, California. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: know people who went to high school with him and
- 13:47Speaker 1: who grew up with him and who did business with him.
- 13:51Speaker 1: That's my guy. We all have reasons why we like fighters.
- 13:53Speaker 1: We all have you know, our you know, our favorites,
- 13:57Speaker 1: our guys that we get behind for whatever reason it is.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And we was like guys.
- 14:02Speaker 1: So there's nothing wrong with that at all. I just
- 14:03Speaker 1: think that my biggest thing is this, You have to
- 14:06Speaker 1: be able to keep it real with your guys, good, bad,
- 14:10Speaker 1: or indifferent, whether guy is dropped, whether your guy's not
- 14:13Speaker 1: fighting well or why is fight his best You've got
- 14:16Speaker 1: to keep it real at all times. That makes a
- 14:18Speaker 1: true fight fan.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Sure, I agree with that. I guess part of it.
- 14:22Speaker 4: I just I just don't want to get my heart
- 14:23Speaker 4: broken again. You know. I think the last time that
- 14:26Speaker 4: I thought maybe a guy was going to be a
- 14:28Speaker 4: star was Jared the big baby Anderson, And since then,
- 14:32Speaker 4: I haven't been the same I've I've been I've been
- 14:34Speaker 4: scared to love again. And not to say that I thought,
- 14:38Speaker 4: you know, oh, like, oh, he's my favorite guy, or
- 14:39Speaker 4: he's going to be the biggest thing in the world.
- 14:40Speaker 4: But I thought, Okay, this guy's got skills, and he's got.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Personality, and he could be potentially a star and most
- 14:47Speaker 3: people don't even know who the hell I'm talking about.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Oh a couple more things about this. Xanders Ice and
- 14:53Speaker 3: Boutsen's fight just really quickly. Number one shout out against
- 14:57Speaker 3: Xander's Ice for a gracious speech at the end, him saying,
- 15:00Speaker 3: you know, Congress, the Boots, you go ahead take over
- 15:03Speaker 3: this division.
- 15:03Speaker 4: You know you're the next big thing. Blah blah blah.
- 15:05Speaker 4: And they cha cans. They hugged each other. It was awesome.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You know.
- 15:09Speaker 3: It goes to show that all this shit talking majority
- 15:13Speaker 3: of the time, not to say forever that it's it's
- 15:14Speaker 3: all for show. It's all crap, and.
- 15:16Speaker 4: I I'm over it. You know. Maybe it's age.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I'm just like, I don't get excited when fighters talk
- 15:21Speaker 3: shit to each other anymore. Is because I don't believe
- 15:23Speaker 3: it most of the time. To be honest with you,
- 15:24Speaker 3: what about you? I mean, does it really ever get
- 15:26Speaker 3: with you? Get to you, and you're like.
- 15:28Speaker 1: It depends on the situation, right, nine times the ten,
- 15:32Speaker 1: most guys don't feel like that about the person. So
- 15:36Speaker 1: I kind of just brush it off. But every blue moon,
- 15:39Speaker 1: there's a hated situation. Every blue moon, somebody don't like
- 15:43Speaker 1: each other. So that's why I'm like, hmm, this is interesting.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So that's from like, Hey, my intent is get up
- 15:50Speaker 1: a little bit. Sometimes for the most part, Nah, I
- 15:53Speaker 1: don't pay it no line because it ain't nothing, you know.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, And even my thing, if I kind of feel
- 16:01Speaker 3: get the vibe that two guys did actually do dislike
- 16:03Speaker 3: each other.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I think most of the time they end up hugging
- 16:06Speaker 4: in the.
- 16:07Speaker 3: After the fight anyway, you know, saying like great fight,
- 16:09Speaker 3: you know, respect and all that. Because when you're you know,
- 16:13Speaker 3: being a guy that's only sparred and never done anything
- 16:15Speaker 3: legit and was never good at sparring.
- 16:17Speaker 4: I always want to make that very clear.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Uh you know, we're not trying to knock each other
- 16:22Speaker 3: out in sparring, but you know, there is a strong
- 16:25Speaker 3: sense of respect for you know, the guy across from you.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You know, even if they're beating the shit out of me.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'm like, you know what, I respect that you uh
- 16:34Speaker 3: push push me to the limits, you know, uh push
- 16:37Speaker 3: me to to hang on longer, you know, so dig
- 16:41Speaker 3: deep in all of that, and I'm really thankful sometimes
- 16:44Speaker 3: of you know, them being able to bring that out
- 16:46Speaker 3: of me back then.
- 16:47Speaker 4: And it was really cool. And it's just like I said,
- 16:49Speaker 4: it was just respect and it's legitimate. And I feel like.
- 16:53Speaker 3: The professionals must have that as well, even if they
- 16:55Speaker 3: really really dislike somebody, after getting in that ring with
- 16:58Speaker 3: each other, they got to come not with each other
- 17:00Speaker 3: because kind of like bearing the hatchet, you know what
- 17:03Speaker 3: I mean.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Well, here's the thing, Like I remember a lot a
- 17:07Speaker 1: lot of times, you gotta sell a fight.
- 17:09Speaker 2: That's a big thing.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So if you see somebody talking about somebody randomly on
- 17:13Speaker 1: TV or on YouTube or whatever. Your chances of inquiring
- 17:17Speaker 1: of why what's going on is a lot higher than
- 17:21Speaker 1: it would be in any other situation. So that's where
- 17:24Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, I get it, Like I understand the situation.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Now.
- 17:28Speaker 1: There are some real beefs. Some beefs are real. Some
- 17:31Speaker 1: beefs are like, hey, somebody did or said something to
- 17:34Speaker 1: somebody's family or whatever. It's real. But those times it's
- 17:38Speaker 1: all promoting to fight. That's all it is, and that's cool.
- 17:41Speaker 1: That's cool. I think we we don't have a lot
- 17:44Speaker 1: of things that get to that next step where it's
- 17:47Speaker 1: like personal or bad beef.
- 17:49Speaker 2: So I think we cool there.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But for the most part, the beefs, from what I've
- 17:54Speaker 1: seen have been have been calm. They've been calm, and
- 17:58Speaker 1: that's good. We got As long as we keep it there,
- 18:00Speaker 1: it's all good. But yeah, I'm with you. I don't
- 18:02Speaker 1: think most of them will get crazy, Especially nowadays, you
- 18:06Speaker 1: don't see a lot of hatred or anything crazy going on.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I struggled to remember the last time I really
- 18:13Speaker 3: thought the two fighters genuinely hated each other.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Like I said, there was real beef. If I really
- 18:19Speaker 4: dig into my memory, I might, but yeah, it's been
- 18:22Speaker 4: a while just for the last like let's say, definitely
- 18:25Speaker 4: since the show. But let's say it said like twenty
- 18:27Speaker 4: twenty when things started coming back.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Maybe all of that kind of changed things. When there
- 18:32Speaker 3: was like not a lot of activity around the fight.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It was just like they got in the ring and
- 18:38Speaker 3: there was no crowds or anything. The fight was the fight.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Since then, maybe it kind of changed things for me
- 18:43Speaker 3: as a spectator. I was like, it feels different. Boxing
- 18:46Speaker 3: felt different after that, you know what I'm saying. So
- 18:50Speaker 3: but anyway, so yeah, great, great, not on Saturday, you know,
- 18:53Speaker 3: awesome night of fights.
- 18:55Speaker 4: And I can't wait to see what else Boots in
- 18:57Speaker 4: It does in the future.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Thing I wanted to mention, we got to keep up
- 19:01Speaker 3: with Dana White because now unfortunately he's part of the
- 19:05Speaker 3: boxing world. He's in it, and you know, uh, I
- 19:08Speaker 3: found very interesting. He had another one of his ZUFA
- 19:10Speaker 3: boxing events and he said in an interview, like they
- 19:14Speaker 3: asked him about Shikri Stevenson. He says, I want I
- 19:17Speaker 3: want him to be in my roster once his contract
- 19:20Speaker 3: is up, and he said, I want everybody, all the
- 19:22Speaker 3: big names.
- 19:22Speaker 4: I want Devin Haney.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Once their contracts are up, which is interesting because everybody
- 19:27Speaker 3: was talking about how shit Core signing with him was
- 19:29Speaker 3: a done deal. Now after that, it's like, is it
- 19:32Speaker 3: like did people kind of just run away with this rumor?
- 19:35Speaker 3: And there's a lot of guys on TikTok talking about
- 19:37Speaker 3: Sha Corse Stevens and signing with Zoofa with it before
- 19:39Speaker 3: any announcement was made. I mean, in your opinion, like,
- 19:44Speaker 3: what does this indicate him saying that or is it
- 19:46Speaker 3: could it's just peopull shitting to kind of hide an announcement.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It's been a while and she Core hasn't said anything.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I think things are a negotiation, So when things are
- 19:54Speaker 1: being talked about is what it is.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Kind of take it for a brain of salt because
- 19:58Speaker 2: that's what's going on. But with all that being said, hey,
- 20:03Speaker 2: it's kind of how business is done.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So if somebody has a you know, somebody has some
- 20:11Speaker 1: information that they deem valuable, then shit, they're gonna share it.
- 20:14Speaker 1: They're gonna do what they do. I don't think anyone's
- 20:16Speaker 1: right or wrong. I just think that we're in an
- 20:18Speaker 1: error now to where you play the card you're dealt
- 20:21Speaker 1: Now if Dan White has some leverage, or if he
- 20:25Speaker 1: feels that he has Sacor and some of the other
- 20:27Speaker 1: guys coming along, he's gonna act that way. If he doesn't,
- 20:30Speaker 1: he may act differently. Man's be seen. I know, she
- 20:33Speaker 1: cures a very big boxing guy. At the same time,
- 20:36Speaker 1: he's taken lessons from Floyd, andre Ward, Terms Crawford, and
- 20:42Speaker 1: Jake Prince when it comes to money.
- 20:44Speaker 2: So it's one of those things.
- 20:45Speaker 1: To where all bets are kind of off when it
- 20:48Speaker 1: comes to somebody else making more money off of him.
- 20:52Speaker 1: So I'd be very surprised if he took the Zooper deal,
- 20:55Speaker 1: to be honest with you, unless that deals really on
- 20:57Speaker 1: the upping up, especially with andre Ward.
- 20:58Speaker 2: In his corner.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, the thing about you can probably guarantee
- 21:03Speaker 3: with a zoofa deal for a big name is that
- 21:06Speaker 3: they're gonna have a lot of money upfront. But who's
- 21:09Speaker 3: to say what happens you know, in the future, and
- 21:11Speaker 3: you know, yeah, how much money, how much how lopsided
- 21:14Speaker 3: that deal is going to be. I mean, especially now
- 21:17Speaker 3: the Shaquor is a name is the star, and you know,
- 21:20Speaker 3: I would say you can probably write his own ticket
- 21:22Speaker 3: after the Tail Female fight, I think you make a
- 21:25Speaker 3: really good point, and especially for somebody like Terrence Crawford
- 21:28Speaker 3: that we've talked about before, definitely didn't get the fame
- 21:31Speaker 3: and the paydays that he deserved based on his talent.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Definitely not no, and thinking like this too, course not
- 21:38Speaker 1: what Chakor's worth. Now it's down the line, right, so
- 21:42Speaker 1: now you can make a pretty good you know, check tonight.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But in three years he's remaking more, five years he's
- 21:49Speaker 1: making more. I think that's the key. So does Zoofa
- 21:52Speaker 1: help me out with that? I don't know. However, if
- 21:55Speaker 1: you trust the people who brought you to the table
- 21:58Speaker 1: who've also worked in boxing for a long time. Hell
- 22:01Speaker 1: Jade Frantz and that whole group, they helped Floyd get,
- 22:05Speaker 1: you know, take care of some things in boxing twenty
- 22:07Speaker 1: plus years ago, so they have experience in boxing. So
- 22:10Speaker 1: andre Ward being involved, with Charrence Crawford being involved, I
- 22:15Speaker 1: expect she could to make really sensible decisions when it
- 22:18Speaker 1: comes to finances.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Oh, that's a really good point about you know, you're
- 22:23Speaker 3: you're investing in Shoa cour Stevenson. You're not making money.
- 22:25Speaker 3: You're of course making money, but that's not really the point.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I kind of didn't really cross my mind. But yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 3: I mean I feel like maybe fighters should kind of
- 22:35Speaker 3: z zoo for boxing and the Saudi money is like
- 22:38Speaker 3: not not for the long term.
- 22:39Speaker 4: You know, it's a flash in the path.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I feel things change, and we said before, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 3: Dana White is as political influences.
- 22:47Speaker 4: So but those don't last forever.
- 22:49Speaker 3: You know, our politics change all the time, president, senators, whatever.
- 22:54Speaker 4: So boxing is always gonna be boxing and it's always
- 22:57Speaker 4: going to be here.
- 22:58Speaker 3: But who's to say that, you know that relationship with
- 23:01Speaker 3: Dana White, the government, the Saudis, our government, et cetera,
- 23:06Speaker 3: et cetera, is gonna is going to be long term.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I think boxers should be.
- 23:10Speaker 3: A little bit more wary of trusting putting all their
- 23:14Speaker 3: eggs in the zooper basket.
- 23:15Speaker 4: I guess the lear of trus.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Say yeah, because here's the thing in which you don't
- 23:18Speaker 1: want what we've seen the last tenants years. You don't
- 23:22Speaker 1: want to have one or two networks or companies or
- 23:24Speaker 1: entities having all the leverage. Why PBC was great, but
- 23:29Speaker 1: they had all the fighters, so they could do whatever
- 23:31Speaker 1: they want.
- 23:31Speaker 2: They can fight whatever they wanted to. They had all leverage.
- 23:35Speaker 1: When ESPN had top ranked in other fights, they had
- 23:39Speaker 1: a lot of leverage. They can dictate to what who
- 23:41Speaker 1: did Excuse me, they got to dictate who fought, when, where,
- 23:46Speaker 1: how and whatnot, you know what I mean. So you
- 23:49Speaker 1: never want any one entity to have the majority of
- 23:53Speaker 1: fighters or fights or power because once that happens, it's
- 23:57Speaker 1: not best for the product. When when you were up,
- 24:00Speaker 1: there's so many different promotion companies and there's so many
- 24:03Speaker 1: different ways of putting a fight on television that it
- 24:07Speaker 1: made it really good for the sport because there was
- 24:10Speaker 1: no one had a true monopoly on things. Now over last,
- 24:14Speaker 1: I would say since PBC, ever since HBO left, basically
- 24:19Speaker 1: the HBO was giving Chance on the both sides. It
- 24:21Speaker 1: felt like ever since HBO left, things have not been
- 24:24Speaker 1: the same. And when that happens, you have guys like
- 24:28Speaker 1: you mentioned Chance crawfor earlier. Heret Crawford has been elite
- 24:31Speaker 1: for a long time. The fact that the last three
- 24:34Speaker 1: years most people got to see him for the first
- 24:37Speaker 1: time it's criminal, Like it's criminal, but that's what happens
- 24:41Speaker 1: when you only have a promotion company has to deal
- 24:45Speaker 1: with one network for the most part, and that's the fights.
- 24:48Speaker 1: It's criminal.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and ZUFA is definitely you know, they're they're trying
- 24:54Speaker 3: to put on more fights, which is feel the personal
- 24:57Speaker 3: feelings about the end White side. That's always good, but
- 25:01Speaker 3: their roster isn't great. You know, their next thing is
- 25:04Speaker 3: going to be July twenty six, and the main event
- 25:08Speaker 3: is Edgar Bert. Like Richardson, Hitchens is fighting as well.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Kind of wondering, you know, what was going to happen
- 25:16Speaker 3: to him.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, i'd be very I.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Still be very curious to watch the Richard's attentions fight,
- 25:23Speaker 3: and you know he we were both kind of wondering
- 25:26Speaker 3: what happened to him because he pulled out of his
- 25:28Speaker 3: last fight.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I mean, what are your thoughts on what's going on
- 25:30Speaker 4: with this guy?
- 25:31Speaker 1: It's not that he pulled out. He pulled out like
- 25:34Speaker 1: morning up, Like it's worthing to pull out week of
- 25:38Speaker 1: like four days before the fight. But you pull out
- 25:41Speaker 1: at nine am and then you celebrate a new deal
- 25:44Speaker 1: like a couple of days later.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It don't make nose. It's not adding up, it's not
- 25:49Speaker 2: passing the smell to us, I should say.
- 25:51Speaker 1: So with all that being said, with all that being said,
- 25:56Speaker 1: there are some things that do not quite add up.
- 25:59Speaker 1: But I will say this, the one thing that does
- 26:02Speaker 1: that up is if he puts on a great performance.
- 26:05Speaker 1: We don't care because that's what you know. Put it boxing, boxing,
- 26:11Speaker 1: your ass off, Allevia. It's a lot of bullshit. You
- 26:13Speaker 1: get away with a lot of shit if you perform well.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I gotta see it, though, because to me, I get
- 26:20Speaker 1: kind of tired of gods have a lot of talent
- 26:22Speaker 1: but don't showcase it enough or at all. I get
- 26:25Speaker 1: tired of it. Like Blonga is it is. I don't care,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I don't I don't care. I know why he's around, Like,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I get it, he's in your he's proper. I get
- 26:33Speaker 1: all that. That's fine and well, but Itchen's has some
- 26:36Speaker 1: real talent that can be a force in this game.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I gotta see it, though, and I need to see
- 26:42Speaker 1: it again versus legit competition. I don't want to see
- 26:46Speaker 1: it over a random god that's just a filler. I
- 26:48Speaker 1: need to see it or somebody that has equal or
- 26:50Speaker 1: better talent than he does. Until then I don't want
- 26:53Speaker 1: to hear it. But now the way he's moving is
- 26:56Speaker 1: very odd, because again, you cancel a fight morning up
- 27:00Speaker 1: of it better be an emergency. Other than that, that's
- 27:03Speaker 1: a very bad look. Agreed.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely, yeah, it's I didn't say pull out
- 27:10Speaker 3: of a fight just and wanted to leave it at that.
- 27:12Speaker 3: So I'm glad you've added the context there of same day,
- 27:15Speaker 3: which was crazy. I don't And I was, like I
- 27:18Speaker 3: found out just like minutes. I forget which fight it was,
- 27:21Speaker 3: or it might have been the Mario Barrios Garcia night,
- 27:26Speaker 3: but I I hadn't heard that happened that morning.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I think I found out, like right right when I
- 27:30Speaker 4: turned on the event.
- 27:31Speaker 3: It well, singing on my weekend, sinking on my week Oh,
- 27:34Speaker 3: sinking to my Okay, okay here Vegas, gotcha, gotcha?
- 27:38Speaker 2: Okay?
- 27:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:40Speaker 3: So Hitchens is fighting a Mexican guy named Ricadlo Salas
- 27:45Speaker 3: twenty four and two.
- 27:47Speaker 4: So, UH don't know much about the guy. Uh haven't.
- 27:51Speaker 3: If I've seen him fight, I don't remember, But I
- 27:54Speaker 3: don't know. I mean, the guy had too has has
- 27:58Speaker 3: too much talent to waste and you know, like you think, man,
- 28:02Speaker 3: you would think, yeah, I say that like there hasn't
- 28:06Speaker 3: been a ship town of people wasting their talents over.
- 28:08Speaker 2: The Yeah, man, that ain't no guarantee.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I say, that's kind of the same thing.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It's just like I was getting excited about him as
- 28:17Speaker 3: a fighter, wanted to see what's coming next, and then yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 3: this disappeared and signed this deal, and I'm just I'm
- 28:23Speaker 3: just like, yeah, what what the hell is going on
- 28:25Speaker 3: with this guy?
- 28:26Speaker 4: So I here's the thing. I always I love fights,
- 28:29Speaker 4: and I want to be a fan of boxers.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I respect boxers, so I want to watch him be great,
- 28:34Speaker 3: and I want I was like Richardson, let's come back together.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Let's let's let let's let all that behind.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Let's start fresh and watch you kick some masks at
- 28:43Speaker 3: the end of July and then take some more fights
- 28:45Speaker 3: and then live up to what you were showing us
- 28:48Speaker 3: before you just kind of ducked out, you know.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Twelve hours before a fight.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Actually, I can't remember somebody pulling out same day of
- 28:55Speaker 3: a fight. Is there anybody, off the top of your head,
- 28:57Speaker 3: not like that, not like that?
- 28:59Speaker 2: No, not they not no.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Right, Like I've worse. We've seen us like a couple
- 29:04Speaker 4: of days because somebody.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Was ill, or we've seen week of We've seen like Tuesday, Wednesdays,
- 29:09Speaker 1: somebody's sick. Somebody broke something whatever, whatever, But yeah, not
- 29:14Speaker 1: like this.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, like three or four days, like people find
- 29:19Speaker 3: time to get an opponent exactly. I think that's the
- 29:23Speaker 3: worst of it, honestly, is that there wasn't time to
- 29:26Speaker 3: replace that fight and we just don't have the fight.
- 29:29Speaker 3: That sucks and now we're just missing out on a
- 29:32Speaker 3: match that we could have. You know, they could have
- 29:34Speaker 3: enjoyed as fans.
- 29:35Speaker 2: That is correct.
- 29:36Speaker 3: So anyway, let's just wait and see. You know, it's
- 29:40Speaker 3: still a month away. But yeah, this whole, this whole
- 29:43Speaker 3: other thing, I just we should it comes. It keeps
- 29:47Speaker 3: coming up and boxing for the for reasons other than
- 29:50Speaker 3: their fighters and you know.
- 29:52Speaker 4: The great showcases they put on.
- 29:54Speaker 3: You know, we've been talking a lot about data White
- 29:56Speaker 3: and the politics of him getting into the sport, and
- 29:58Speaker 3: you know, the contract and that if you really want
- 30:01Speaker 3: to be in this game, dinn a White, show me
- 30:03Speaker 3: some good ass fights.
- 30:05Speaker 4: That's what it's gonna be.
- 30:06Speaker 1: So he only has a certain amount of control over
- 30:08Speaker 1: that though. Why that's the thing. At the end of
- 30:11Speaker 1: the day, you can put all the fights together, you won't.
- 30:15Speaker 1: It's so here's the thing he doesn't. I will give
- 30:19Speaker 1: him credit with UFC I don't like how guys get paid,
- 30:23Speaker 1: but I will say he does have guys fighting often,
- 30:27Speaker 1: and he does put together pretty good matchups. To my recollection,
- 30:30Speaker 1: box is a little bit different because the pay structure
- 30:33Speaker 1: is different and guys are their own business. A lot
- 30:37Speaker 1: of times they're their own entities. So certain tactics you
- 30:41Speaker 1: can use in UFC that you can't quite use in boxing.
- 30:45Speaker 1: But that being said, for the betterment of everyone, the
- 30:49Speaker 1: more competitive fights we get, the better. Where there's rumors
- 30:53Speaker 1: of Kishan Davis and let's putting the chat before we
- 30:59Speaker 1: came on Haiti fighting or getting agreement within the next month.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Basically that's what's supposed to be like. That's I was
- 31:07Speaker 1: supposed to go more of those type of fights. You
- 31:11Speaker 1: we talked on the last show row Lely versus old
- 31:15Speaker 1: Boy lost she curt last time.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Why is his name is.
- 31:19Speaker 4: There?
- 31:19Speaker 2: You go yes to your femo.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Those are fighting more of those who where it's like damn,
- 31:24Speaker 1: every weekend or every month, there's a banger on. That's
- 31:27Speaker 1: what we need because at the end of the day,
- 31:29Speaker 1: drawing as good as your as your your headlining products. Right,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'll put it this way. Everybody's familiar in and out
- 31:36Speaker 1: in and out Hamburgers. The reason why the lines along
- 31:38Speaker 1: they've been on forever. Their best product, their headlining product
- 31:42Speaker 1: is very good. People may not the fries, people may
- 31:44Speaker 1: not the shakes, but their headlining product is pretty damn good.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Boxing headlining products always been good. They gotta have more
- 31:52Speaker 1: of them, though. You can't just have one every three months,
- 31:54Speaker 1: I hope for the best. It don't work that way,
- 31:56Speaker 1: you don't. You gotta have more.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, or like I said, we're gonna
- 32:02Speaker 3: be keeping an eye on on ZUFA Boxing and what
- 32:05Speaker 3: they have to offer. But right now, let's say I
- 32:07Speaker 3: haven't been impressed and leave it there and just you know,
- 32:08Speaker 3: keep the conversation at all at all. Speaking of needing
- 32:13Speaker 3: bankers and not having many, Eddie Hearn said that Alexandro
- 32:16Speaker 3: Usik is probably going to be fighting Deontay wildernecks.
- 32:19Speaker 4: We had discussed the possibility of it before. Neither of
- 32:23Speaker 4: us were excited. Actually, you know, not only were we
- 32:27Speaker 4: not excited. Jameson what are your thoughts on of potential
- 32:29Speaker 4: Usik Wilder batchup.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I've seen I don't want to see Deontay Wilder in
- 32:33Speaker 1: a ring anymore. I don't there's no there's nothing for
- 32:36Speaker 1: me to see. Why. I mean, I don't there's nothing
- 32:40Speaker 1: of him I want to see. I don't want to
- 32:42Speaker 1: see him the ring anymore. There's nothing more like can
- 32:44Speaker 1: watch of him. We've seen the best of him and
- 32:48Speaker 1: that was a while ago. I don't want to see
- 32:51Speaker 1: him the ring anymore. Man, he's a guy, he got
- 32:54Speaker 1: the most of his abilities and that's that, nothing more,
- 32:57Speaker 1: none less. Like we don't need to keep running this back.
- 33:00Speaker 1: We are good, we are good. I'm sorry. Like I
- 33:04Speaker 1: I like Deontay as a person. I think he's been
- 33:08Speaker 1: a very interesting boxer. But no, man, like, we don't
- 33:13Speaker 1: why why I'd rather see Deontay fight a UFC guy
- 33:18Speaker 1: or a guy another sport then take on this fight.
- 33:22Speaker 4: So I I'm not gonna say that. I you know,
- 33:25Speaker 4: I don't want to see Deontay back in the ring
- 33:27Speaker 4: at all. I just think we should stop trying to
- 33:29Speaker 4: talk about him like he's a major star, he's a
- 33:31Speaker 4: great boxer, he's.
- 33:32Speaker 2: This and that.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Or put him against you know, the heavyweight champ. You
- 33:36Speaker 4: know I'll take him.
- 33:37Speaker 3: It's I don't know, it's like putting on You're watching
- 33:40Speaker 3: TV and there's a random episode of like I don't
- 33:42Speaker 3: know the house from you know, ten years ago, and
- 33:45Speaker 3: you're like, yeah, I let's sit here and watch house whatever.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Like if Danty gets gets a fight and he just
- 33:49Speaker 3: fights some random guy, Oh, I'm happy with that, But
- 33:53Speaker 3: what are we doing here? Like, why are we putting him?
- 33:55Speaker 3: You know, he he's not you know, heavyweight champ caliber level.
- 33:58Speaker 3: I'm sorry?
- 33:59Speaker 2: What are we doing here? Is the right wording? What
- 34:02Speaker 2: are we doing?
- 34:02Speaker 1: Like again, if he was fighting exhibition, he's just fighting
- 34:06Speaker 1: the past the time cool? He fighting against my he
- 34:10Speaker 1: gonna need ambulance for it, and that ain't it. That
- 34:13Speaker 1: ain't cool. I was there for a free cursor for
- 34:16Speaker 1: the fight past week. He gonna need that shit man,
- 34:18Speaker 1: Like I've hadn't seen him get beat up too many
- 34:22Speaker 1: times by guys that can actually fight like that thing
- 34:25Speaker 1: Deontay Wilder. It sucks because in an alternate universe with
- 34:30Speaker 1: good corner and good training, DEIONT. Wilder is probably one
- 34:34Speaker 1: of the best heavyweights ever, but it just never it
- 34:38Speaker 1: never came around to that. Like he had the height,
- 34:40Speaker 1: he had the power, but up here was not there.
- 34:44Speaker 1: The overall skill set of a boxer wasn't quite there.
- 34:47Speaker 1: But he was still very productive what he actually did,
- 34:50Speaker 1: but the training was ah, the corner was AH, and
- 34:54Speaker 1: just to fight the fight adjustments. But with all that
- 34:58Speaker 1: being said, he's made a lot of money for himself.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I think he has a bunch of kids though. I
- 35:03Speaker 1: think that's why he's still fighting. Just being honest, we
- 35:06Speaker 1: know how boxers get down. All that being said, though,
- 35:10Speaker 1: I want him to be careful. I don't want him
- 35:12Speaker 1: getting hurt. I don't want the lasting image of him
- 35:16Speaker 1: being sprought out in the rain, not knowing where he's at,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and people are in it are in hysteria because he
- 35:24Speaker 1: got knocked the fuck out. I prefer not. I prefer
- 35:27Speaker 1: him go out gracefully and going about his day. But hey, man,
- 35:31Speaker 1: the way he's boxes a move right now, I don't
- 35:33Speaker 1: think nobody's going out gracially. I mean every other day
- 35:35Speaker 1: it's a story about somebody that I don't want to
- 35:37Speaker 1: talk about right now. But it's another story every day,
- 35:40Speaker 1: and it's just like, man, what the hell's going on? Yeah?
- 35:44Speaker 3: I feel like even with guys that don't need the money,
- 35:48Speaker 3: someone like Canel is a prime example.
- 35:50Speaker 4: He can retire right now. He's finding set up. But
- 35:53Speaker 4: a lot of it.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I think it's good pride and ego. I worry that
- 35:56Speaker 3: Canal is going to stick around for longer than he
- 35:58Speaker 3: should because of and not go out gracefully. I've said,
- 36:03Speaker 3: I've been on the record. I think if he retires
- 36:05Speaker 3: after his next two fights that he's contracted for, I'm good.
- 36:08Speaker 3: I think it's for the best that Canel actually, you know,
- 36:12Speaker 3: goes off of this head held high. There's no shame
- 36:14Speaker 3: in losing to Bud, you know, but it's just, you know,
- 36:17Speaker 3: what are the best.
- 36:18Speaker 4: To ever do it? But I worry.
- 36:22Speaker 3: I worry that, you know, he's just gonna cling on
- 36:24Speaker 3: to hope, you know, to to legacy and you know
- 36:27Speaker 3: his past.
- 36:29Speaker 1: So thing like this, like Canelo's a cash cow. He's
- 36:33Speaker 1: gonna make probably at minimum fifty million at minimum for
- 36:40Speaker 1: every fight he fights, right, Why that's just how it goes.
- 36:43Speaker 1: With that being said, though, if someone's paying you that money, like,
- 36:50Speaker 1: if that's the going rate, then you it's hard passing up.
- 36:56Speaker 1: It's hard passing up. It's really difficult, not seconds impossible,
- 37:00Speaker 1: but it's hard passing up basically a free fifty million
- 37:03Speaker 1: or a free seventy million. So I get why he
- 37:06Speaker 1: would stick around because of his value was high, but
- 37:10Speaker 1: some of the other people, I can't say that. But
- 37:13Speaker 1: I'm with you as a fan though he has nothing
- 37:15Speaker 1: more to prove in boxing, but the money is so
- 37:18Speaker 1: good that I would get it if he stick around
- 37:20Speaker 1: more fights than he probably should.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Sure, and I specifically chose Canila because he has other deals,
- 37:26Speaker 3: Like he's got you know, merchandise, he's got other things going.
- 37:30Speaker 3: He puts his name on on shirts and gloves, and
- 37:32Speaker 3: he's got his alcoholic drinks. So that's why I kind
- 37:35Speaker 3: of said he could leave and he'd still be fine.
- 37:37Speaker 3: He's making money from a lot of stuff. He has
- 37:38Speaker 3: sponsorship deals. I mean, he's not like he's not going
- 37:41Speaker 3: to be a huge star in Mexico, you know, advertising commercials,
- 37:44Speaker 3: all that shit. So for him specifically, you know, it's, yes,
- 37:48Speaker 3: the money's great, but it's also I'm worried about pride
- 37:50Speaker 3: and ego for with a lot of these guys, and
- 37:52Speaker 3: you know, I don't know, Deontay is never talking about
- 37:55Speaker 3: people never being the same after a loss, after that
- 37:57Speaker 3: fury loss, you know.
- 38:00Speaker 4: It's it's hard to even put into words. I mean,
- 38:01Speaker 4: he's comeback, he's fought lost, fought some guys I've never
- 38:06Speaker 4: heard of fought sometimes where I completely missed and didn't
- 38:09Speaker 4: realize he was fighting. It seems to be like he
- 38:11Speaker 4: never went away, but he's never really been in the
- 38:14Speaker 4: in the conversation again, if that makes sense. Yeah, And
- 38:17Speaker 4: here's the thing too, that's okay. Like, like I said,
- 38:20Speaker 4: I'm okay with Yante continuing to fight, and I'll tune
- 38:23Speaker 4: in if I know that he's he's fighting some guy.
- 38:25Speaker 4: But don't put him against an Alexander who sick, you know, don't.
- 38:29Speaker 2: No, not this stage of the game, man, Not this stage.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Because one was I mean, you can make argument that
- 38:35Speaker 1: last time Wilders looked good in the ring was like.
- 38:40Speaker 2: The first Fury fight.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Yeah, because that one was the draw, right, because Fury
- 38:45Speaker 4: two was the raw.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like the second or third ones were
- 38:49Speaker 2: what they were.
- 38:50Speaker 1: You can make argument that that first Fury fight last
- 38:53Speaker 1: time he looked like damn good, and that was like
- 38:56Speaker 1: seven eight years ago.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Another thing too, that we have to we have to
- 39:00Speaker 3: talk about here is that what's going on with Alexander
- 39:02Speaker 3: usik This honestly, this doesn't make you look good choosing
- 39:04Speaker 3: an opponent like Deontay Wilder.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you're not wrong. I mean, I think a lot
- 39:08Speaker 1: of it is this. He hand picked an opponent that
- 39:12Speaker 1: he knows he can handle. I think that needs to
- 39:15Speaker 1: be mentioned as well.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Well.
- 39:16Speaker 1: He hand picked the guy that he knows he can
- 39:19Speaker 1: take care of business against. I think that's the bigger thing.
- 39:22Speaker 1: I think that's the situation. He knows deep downside he's
- 39:27Speaker 1: not afraid of anything Deontae has to offer. And that's
- 39:31Speaker 1: what sucks if you're Wilder in this camp, because you know,
- 39:34Speaker 1: you used to be the guy, the most powerful guy,
- 39:36Speaker 1: powerful punch in the game, and now you're the guy
- 39:39Speaker 1: that's basically getting picked for the.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Swansong fights. It's it's boxing Colord the times.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and especially after that Riek overhoban kickboxer fight with
- 39:50Speaker 3: Usik where he did not look very good in the
- 39:52Speaker 3: ring at all.
- 39:53Speaker 4: Uh yeah, does this doesn't bode well? Of course.
- 39:56Speaker 3: You know, let's also be very fair. Lusk has a
- 39:59Speaker 3: great legacy. He could retire now and he would have,
- 40:02Speaker 3: you know, a great career. His name would be spoken
- 40:05Speaker 3: of with reverence by anybody in the boxing world, well deserved.
- 40:09Speaker 4: But what are you doing? Man? Back to what are
- 40:11Speaker 4: we doing here?
- 40:13Speaker 2: You really?
- 40:14Speaker 3: I guess it would make sense for to pick an
- 40:17Speaker 3: opponent after you look that shitty against Greek Overhovid in
- 40:20Speaker 3: the last fight, and you pick Wilder maybe kind of
- 40:23Speaker 3: make yourself look better in.
- 40:24Speaker 4: The eyes of the fans. But there's a lot of
- 40:26Speaker 4: people that were not impressed with Usak the last time around,
- 40:29Speaker 4: and I don't know. I also think there's a chance
- 40:32Speaker 4: to get backfire that they're not going to be impressed
- 40:33Speaker 4: if he does take care of business so easily with Yante.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 40:36Speaker 1: So the heavyweight boxer has been having issues with the
- 40:39Speaker 1: UFC and kickboxing guys. Same thing with Fury a few
- 40:42Speaker 1: years ago when he went oh boy, Francois France and
- 40:47Speaker 1: na Ganu Yep gave him some issues, gave him some
- 40:51Speaker 1: issues where if that fight was called differently, who knows
- 40:55Speaker 1: what happened. So this is one of those things where
- 41:01Speaker 1: guys are not taking those fights seriously. What I mean
- 41:04Speaker 1: by that, they're not coming in the best of shapes.
- 41:06Speaker 1: The mentals were not sharp as they would be fighting
- 41:08Speaker 1: another boxer. It's basically like a big ass payday, so
- 41:11Speaker 1: they're not thinking like it's a world championship bout. They're
- 41:14Speaker 1: coming in thinking it's another payday. Two different mindsets, and
- 41:18Speaker 1: that's what's caused me these fights look weird because the
- 41:21Speaker 1: other guy on the other side is trying to win.
- 41:23Speaker 1: So that's why it's like, oh, how did this happen?
- 41:26Speaker 1: Or why it look like this? That's why. So and
- 41:29Speaker 1: also guys are older too, right, You got guys are
- 41:31Speaker 1: in the forties now trying to tune up and trying
- 41:34Speaker 1: to get the shape for fights that they.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Really not emotionally in.
- 41:38Speaker 1: They're in it for the money, not because they feel
- 41:40Speaker 1: like they're the best, you know, combat fighter in the world.
- 41:43Speaker 2: That ain't the case.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and I still to this day, man, I will
- 41:47Speaker 3: say friends is the guy who was robbed.
- 41:49Speaker 4: I don't say people will robbed that often. But justice
- 41:51Speaker 4: for Franz is the guy who got damn it. He
- 41:53Speaker 4: should have won that fight. But I think that that
- 41:56Speaker 4: was right before the Fury and U Sick match, so
- 42:00Speaker 4: you know, Fury they both went in with with zeros
- 42:04Speaker 4: on their records with those for losses.
- 42:06Speaker 3: So uh, and I think, you know, I hate to
- 42:08Speaker 3: be that guy, the conspiracy guy or the you know,
- 42:11Speaker 3: the boxing is so corrupt guy, but you're not gonna
- 42:13Speaker 3: let you know, the the heavyweight champ go into the
- 42:17Speaker 3: biggest fight of his career with an l without.
- 42:18Speaker 1: An get not clearly out the ring before you give
- 42:23Speaker 1: him it o. And that's the way. If that doesn't happen,
- 42:27Speaker 1: there's no chance for losing. You'd have to get knocked
- 42:29Speaker 1: clearly out the ring and not be able to get
- 42:32Speaker 1: back into the ring within ten seconds for him to
- 42:35Speaker 1: lose that fight.
- 42:36Speaker 2: That's it the only way.
- 42:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Well, and you know, I I think, uh, I think
- 42:42Speaker 3: fans really shouldn't shouldn't be getting a hype when you know,
- 42:45Speaker 3: a heavyweight champ fights a UFC guy or.
- 42:47Speaker 4: A kickbox or all of that, because, uh.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Those guys aren't gonna win, you know, the the boxing
- 42:52Speaker 3: heavyweight champs or any champs whatever, they're gonna keep their record,
- 42:56Speaker 3: they're gonna keep their belts, and nobody, nobody's gonna allow
- 43:00Speaker 3: these these guys to come in and take them after
- 43:02Speaker 3: after a couple of boxing matches that you know, in
- 43:04Speaker 3: the in their history. So let's all tamp down our
- 43:06Speaker 3: excitement for that. And just you know, it's crazy that
- 43:10Speaker 3: the heavyweight division. You know, I can't remember the last
- 43:13Speaker 3: time you and I had a conversation about the heavyweight division.
- 43:15Speaker 4: You know, Uh, it's ugh, it is.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Yeah, everything has been more exciting has been the younger,
- 43:21Speaker 3: the smaller guys.
- 43:22Speaker 4: Hell Leven David Benavitte is a cruiserweight.
- 43:24Speaker 3: You know, we've talked more about him and nobody nobody
- 43:27Speaker 3: gives a shit about cruiserweight.
- 43:28Speaker 4: I'm sorry. The last time I can think of like
- 43:33Speaker 4: a like a good cruiser weights or popular cruise weights
- 43:36Speaker 4: or US sick and Roy Jones Junior. My god.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Uh but yeah, it's I think this speaks at the
- 43:42Speaker 3: end of the day. The biggest, the bigger conversation is,
- 43:44Speaker 3: you know, the heavyweight division is kind of a bummer
- 43:46Speaker 3: right now.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Yeah, agree, I agree, well.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Kind of kind of a weird note, have the show on,
- 43:53Speaker 3: but uh, we do have something really exciting coming up.
- 43:56Speaker 4: So uh let's see.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Next weekend, or say this weekend if you're listening to
- 44:01Speaker 3: this when it comes out. This is July fourth weekend,
- 44:03Speaker 3: and Abdulah Mason is coming back to the ring. His
- 44:06Speaker 3: opponent had to be swapped out last minute. But here's
- 44:08Speaker 3: the thing, man, I'm here to see Abdullah at this point,
- 44:11Speaker 3: I don't really care about who the opponent is. But
- 44:14Speaker 3: I don't know, what do you think about Abdula Mason's
- 44:16Speaker 3: new opponent here.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I mean, it's one of those things where boxing gets
- 44:19Speaker 1: weird at times, where sometimes you get you get your chance,
- 44:22Speaker 1: and things crazy things happen. I don't think it's gonna
- 44:25Speaker 1: happen this fight, but you know, somebody's the opportunity. Otherwise
- 44:28Speaker 1: it wouldn't have gotten So it's always good when that happens.
- 44:31Speaker 1: We'll see what happens, but I expect Adula Mason take
- 44:34Speaker 1: care of business and move on and hopefully be in
- 44:36Speaker 1: line for a big fight soon.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:38Speaker 4: I'm just excited to have a July fourth weekend.
- 44:41Speaker 3: You know, it's July Force on a Saturday, which means
- 44:43Speaker 3: most people are off on a Friday. I'm gonna start
- 44:46Speaker 3: day drinking, you know, making burgers since starting Friday, all
- 44:50Speaker 3: the way through the weekend, and really really excited about
- 44:54Speaker 3: a July fourth fight, probably.
- 44:56Speaker 4: A Jaws marathon. Did you know there are four Jaws.
