- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Wendy.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm a former Hallmark cater. On today's episode, we're discussing
- 0:19Speaker 1: Paris is Always a Good Idea Episode four Nightly, which
- 0:24Speaker 1: is now streaming on Hallmark plus Whinny. Before we jump
- 0:29Speaker 1: into this episode, I do have a couple of emails
- 0:31Speaker 1: that I'd like to discuss. Yes, we don't have enough
- 0:33Speaker 1: for a full I'm disappointed in you guys a full
- 0:37Speaker 1: mail bag episode, and someone was asking, like, where is it,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and Brittany, We're going to get to your emails, but
- 0:42Speaker 1: you are really bringing it. And you know, all I
- 0:45Speaker 1: got to say is the rest of our listeners just
- 0:47Speaker 1: unfortunately are not, with the exception of Jen, who says,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I just listen to the recap of episode three of
- 0:52Speaker 1: Paris is Always a Good Idea. I was so looking
- 0:55Speaker 1: forward to hearing a ten minute discussion of the sexiest
- 0:57Speaker 1: line I think I have ever heard in a Hallmark
- 1:00Speaker 1: production quote, I can't imagine wanting anything else in the
- 1:04Speaker 1: world when you're wearing that dress. Yeah, that was great
- 1:08Speaker 1: up to this point. I did enjoy the crush slash pining.
- 1:11Speaker 1: From his point of view, I love it when guys
- 1:13Speaker 1: fall first and have some longing. But I didn't really
- 1:16Speaker 1: like him as a love interest. I thought it was
- 1:18Speaker 1: too obvious and wish that she would end up with
- 1:20Speaker 1: one of her past lovers.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Lol. But that line completely.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Changed my opinion, and now I'm on board with Nightly.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I don't know how they can even go back to
- 1:30Speaker 1: being coworkers after he said something like that. Yeah, so
- 1:34Speaker 1: a lot of HR violations there for sure. Actually in
- 1:38Speaker 1: the book there's a discussion because I guess they have
- 1:40Speaker 1: like a nasty.
- 1:41Speaker 2: HR person network. Oh really little HR thing.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Now Britney. Britney is one of our very smart listeners.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:50Speaker 1: She brings a connection that I think she thinks we're
- 1:53Speaker 1: smarter than we are because.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You and I.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah, she sent two very long emails. I'm not reading
- 1:59Speaker 1: the entire thing, but she has a theory. My major
- 2:03Speaker 1: impression is how the feel of Chelsea and her fictional
- 2:06Speaker 1: coworker's relationship reminds me very strongly of Jane Austen's Emma
- 2:12Speaker 1: and mister Knightley. Had you noticed, I'm so sorry, Brittany,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but I had not the scene where he comes upon
- 2:18Speaker 1: her in the Parisian nightclub smacks of the ball in Emma.
- 2:22Speaker 1: When mister Knightley realizes he's attracted to Emma. There's him
- 2:25Speaker 1: being struck by her beauty, seeing her as he never
- 2:28Speaker 1: did before, and them getting physically close enough to touch.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Emma has a sister named Isabella, and the sister in
- 2:35Speaker 1: Paris is always a good idea is named Annabel. They
- 2:38Speaker 1: have an aged father in the picture and a mother
- 2:40Speaker 1: who has passed away. Emma becomes industrious and basically runs
- 2:44Speaker 1: her own life and is looking to expand in helping
- 2:47Speaker 1: benefit other people's lives. Chelsea is running her own life
- 2:50Speaker 1: and also wants to help people. Except in the show
- 2:53Speaker 1: they have a workplace rivalry and she experiences the trauma
- 2:56Speaker 1: from my mother's passing. No wait, that last bit is
- 2:59Speaker 1: also true and Emma, Well, we're going to need author
- 3:03Speaker 1: Jen McKinley to weigh in here. Find it out if
- 3:07Speaker 1: Emma was an inspiration to this original the story she wrote, Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 1: She goes on to make a lot of other connections
- 3:13Speaker 1: to Emma. I Unfortunately they don't land for me because
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't don't I've seen the movie Emma pretty sure.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Clueless is also a remake of the movie Emma. If
- 3:26Speaker 1: you've noticed this.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Let us know.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Keep your smart emails coming, Brittany, your.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Smart emails come in. Are you ready to talk? Episode?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Yeah, departure in titles. Indeed, you know we had Paris revisited,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Colin revisited, Sebastian revisited, and now we just got Nightly.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The synopsis is Chelsea and Knightley are surprised to find
- 3:51Speaker 1: themselves growing closer during their time together in Paris as
- 3:54Speaker 1: they're a big donor meeting finally approaches. We do open
- 3:59Speaker 1: in the bridle. But were you shocked by the context
- 4:03Speaker 1: of her voice recordings?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Oh?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, because boom spoiler alert. Right off the bat, we
- 4:11Speaker 1: realize she's recording voice memos four Nightly indeed, so finally
- 4:17Speaker 1: we have the answer of who she's talking to. But
- 4:21Speaker 1: now it's almost like I want to go back and
- 4:23Speaker 1: watch the three episodes so I can listen to those
- 4:27Speaker 1: voice memos again to kind of put the pieces together,
- 4:32Speaker 1: because the ending of this particular episode really threw me
- 4:35Speaker 1: for a loop. Well, it really does, because the beginning
- 4:38Speaker 1: hints at what the end is going to be, because
- 4:40Speaker 1: she says what happens next is hard to talk about,
- 4:45Speaker 1: but I promised you the whole truth. And then she says,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you're perhaps my biggest what if of them all, leaving
- 4:53Speaker 1: us to believe that their story is a little bit unfinished.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 1: At this point, let's talk about Chelsea Knightly. Did you
- 5:01Speaker 1: love the Jason Knightley TikTok of him dancing and that's
- 5:05Speaker 1: how Aiden finds him?
- 5:07Speaker 2: I did.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I thought that was really funny and contemporary. Hmm, you
- 5:12Speaker 1: and I are TikTok connoissewers. I wonder if that lands
- 5:15Speaker 1: for other people who who are watching this movie who
- 5:18Speaker 1: are not on TikTok. Maybe not, but I think it
- 5:20Speaker 1: does a nice job of painting him as a good
- 5:22Speaker 1: time guy. Oh yeah, yeah, I loved it.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Of course.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I love that he walks in and she's basically talking
- 5:29Speaker 1: shit about him too. Yes, well, she's not talking shit
- 5:32Speaker 1: about him. She's just been annoyed at AID and her
- 5:35Speaker 1: boss for not consulting her and doesn't see the need
- 5:39Speaker 1: for hiring this guy, and et cetera, et cetera.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Her feathers are ruffled.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and she basically says like pretty face, no substance. Yeah,
- 5:47Speaker 1: And then he asks her out, and then the voiceover
- 5:49Speaker 1: she talks about how she wanted to say yes, but
- 5:51Speaker 1: she's got to keep it tight and keep it right,
- 5:54Speaker 1: so she flines.
- 5:55Speaker 2: She says, it's not my scene, and he says, I
- 5:57Speaker 2: didn't even tell you where we were gonna go. Yeah, liked.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I liked all that.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I mean it definitely that's the tone of how they
- 6:04Speaker 1: became kind of competitive. I'm reluctant to call them enemies. Hmmm,
- 6:11Speaker 1: yeah at this point because he just had a contentious relationship.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But later on they have a conversation about it that
- 6:21Speaker 1: I really enjoy the same. When we're back kind of
- 6:24Speaker 1: in the in Paris, I was going to say present day,
- 6:27Speaker 1: but present day is the bridal sweet. But when we're
- 6:29Speaker 1: back telling furthering the Nightly and Chelsea story, they're back
- 6:35Speaker 1: at their dinner. She's still in her red dress. They
- 6:37Speaker 1: still having really nice moments. She's like, should order more fries,
- 6:40Speaker 1: and then Matt fries magically appear, you know, back to
- 6:43Speaker 1: your like he sees her. He anticipates her knees in
- 6:47Speaker 1: little ways too. Did you I want to ask you,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I can't remember if you watched Sex in the City
- 6:52Speaker 1: or not. But these two her walking in this red
- 6:56Speaker 1: dress and they're walking in the streets of Paris at night.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Is it giving you sex and the city vibes?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Oh?
- 7:03Speaker 1: You know when Carrie went to Paris. I didn't make
- 7:07Speaker 1: that connection. But yeah, it's very elevated.
- 7:10Speaker 2: It's just nice. It's just nice.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I mean they shot this in Paris, right, I mean god,
- 7:16Speaker 1: which just was stunning.
- 7:18Speaker 2: It really was. She looks incredible. Look, I just love it.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I love it.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm watching this on my computer too, because as was like,
- 7:29Speaker 1: we're watching a screener, it seemsier to take notes. Yes, exactly.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I can't wait till this actually drops because I think
- 7:36Speaker 1: I might want to watch it on my big screen. Yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 1: just to visually take it all in because it's especially
- 7:42Speaker 1: this episode. Well, and he also at this point asks
- 7:46Speaker 1: have you heard from Marcos? And at this point she
- 7:49Speaker 1: has not, and we find out that things really didn't
- 7:53Speaker 1: end well with her and Marcos. She ghosted him when
- 7:56Speaker 1: she found out about her mom. She took off and
- 7:58Speaker 1: then she never turn to any of his phone calls.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I like that nightly is I don't want to say invested,
- 8:05Speaker 1: but interested in knowing? Like, Okay, Well, what's up with.
- 8:09Speaker 2: The third guy?
- 8:10Speaker 3: Like in the of course, of course, and then they
- 8:16Speaker 3: almost kiss, and then they get a message that the
- 8:19Speaker 3: Applene meeting is happening.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Work is happening. Of course.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I was like, oh, the dreaded, Like, you know the
- 8:27Speaker 1: text that you have to look at right away?
- 8:29Speaker 2: I don't.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I don't know anybody who would pause a kiss to
- 8:32Speaker 1: look at their phone. Yeah, unless the sound was enough
- 8:36Speaker 1: to like jolt them back to reality right of the moment.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But yeah, of course the text can wait. We get
- 8:42Speaker 1: a quick scene between Chelsea and Annabel talking on his phone,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and Chelsea's telling Annabel about the almost kiss and she's like,
- 8:51Speaker 1: I don't know if I misread the situation or whatever,
- 8:53Speaker 1: but Annabel asks, she says, like you wanted to be kissed, right, Yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 1: chessa kind of changes the subject and goes on to
- 9:04Speaker 1: talk about Annabel's day with Ducklan. But we will get
- 9:06Speaker 1: there in a minute. We will get there in a minute.
- 9:11Speaker 1: When they head to their meeting with Sophie and Applene
- 9:15Speaker 1: and they arrive and the reception this is super cold
- 9:17Speaker 1: to Chelsea and she's like, there's two of you and
- 9:19Speaker 1: it's like throwing them off their game, and Sophie even
- 9:22Speaker 1: was like, kind of what are you doing here?
- 9:24Speaker 2: And there's this hole back and forth, but.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Sophie really is like speaking only to Jason, and Jason
- 9:31Speaker 1: is so good at it.
- 9:32Speaker 2: He like really puts all the praise and Chelsea all
- 9:38Speaker 2: the credit.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of crazy because at one point, I'm like,
- 9:42Speaker 1: what is Sophie's beef with Chelsea? Why doesn't she want
- 9:45Speaker 1: Chelsea involved in this? And then this is where we
- 9:50Speaker 1: learn that she wants control, right, Yeah, But honestly, even
- 9:54Speaker 1: later when Sophie does explain herself more, is it that
- 9:59Speaker 1: she I think she'll be able to get one over
- 10:01Speaker 1: on Jason, Like she knows if Chelsea isn't involved, then
- 10:05Speaker 1: maybe he's like easier because Sophie wants to control how
- 10:09Speaker 1: her money is being spent. And later on she's like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you know, I can tell. She's like, I see how
- 10:14Speaker 1: in charge you are.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I get that. That's why I can't work with you
- 10:17Speaker 2: because I want to be in charge.
- 10:19Speaker 1: But oh, but even Jason here and later, you know,
- 10:24Speaker 1: Chelsea says like, look, that's impossible, and Jason is not.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Like, well maybe for the right money.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Ja agrees with her at both points and So I
- 10:34Speaker 1: just don't fully understand why Sophie wants Chelsea out of
- 10:39Speaker 1: the picture, because no one's going to allow Sophie to
- 10:45Speaker 1: have this level of oversight that she wants. That's really interesting,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and I wonder if it's a question we're supposed to
- 10:50Speaker 1: just overlook here. But you're right, because they could could
- 10:55Speaker 1: could have something been cut from the original story or
- 10:59Speaker 1: the script. But is Sophie threatened by Chelsea's involvement and
- 11:03Speaker 1: therefore thinks like she can push Nightly over more with her? Yeah, control,
- 11:09Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Yeah, it's after this meeting
- 11:12Speaker 1: that we get more information via a phone call between
- 11:15Speaker 1: Aiden and Chelsea about the state of the acc and
- 11:19Speaker 1: that they really need this donation because things are kind
- 11:22Speaker 1: of in like a dire situation, and Chelsea this phone
- 11:28Speaker 1: call is like Chelsea is asking like what the what
- 11:31Speaker 1: the hell?
- 11:31Speaker 2: Like why did Sophie.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Only want want to meet with Nightly? And like she's
- 11:34Speaker 1: trying to get more information. I mean, Aidia doesn't really
- 11:37Speaker 1: give a lot of information other than like you need
- 11:40Speaker 1: to tie up this, you need to like confirm this
- 11:44Speaker 1: donation tonight, Like this needs to happen or we're in trouble. Right, Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: and she kind of presses him like how much trouble
- 11:50Speaker 1: are we in? Like what are we? What are what's
- 11:52Speaker 1: at stake here? And he's like those are all future questions,
- 11:54Speaker 1: but we need this money, right, it's a it's a
- 11:56Speaker 1: big freaking deal, and I couldn't it's so of it all,
- 12:00Speaker 1: Like it does seem clear that Sophie asked for her
- 12:03Speaker 1: to be taken off. And the more we dig into this,
- 12:05Speaker 1: the less I understand what her Yeah, because Aiden's not
- 12:10Speaker 1: gonna let her have oversight. Jason's not gonna let her
- 12:12Speaker 1: have oversight. Maybe she's just like Chelsea's a bad bitch
- 12:14Speaker 1: and I'm never gonna get what I want with her. Yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 1: the way perhaps they go to this dinner and it's
- 12:28Speaker 1: they had assumed it's at a restaurant. It's at Sophie's
- 12:30Speaker 1: home with her husband. There's a famous chef cooking four
- 12:33Speaker 1: of them. Jason's all charm like, he's lovely. I mean
- 12:39Speaker 1: it is.
- 12:39Speaker 2: They are the.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Perfect team because like she's I don't want to say
- 12:43Speaker 1: she's the brains, but she's like kind of like the
- 12:46Speaker 1: nuts and bolts. Honey, He's the charm, right, Yeah, but
- 12:50Speaker 1: he does come through like he's clearly done his research,
- 12:53Speaker 1: Like he talks a lot about their.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Business and what she's doing, and you know, earlier in
- 12:57Speaker 2: the meeting.
- 12:57Speaker 1: He's like I get that you want control, but look,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you guys, yours and a million different pots, like let
- 13:01Speaker 1: us do what we do.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Bet.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I almost hated that scene a little bit because I
- 13:05Speaker 1: felt like he was like man explaining her back to
- 13:07Speaker 1: her about like, oh, you're so busy and you do
- 13:09Speaker 1: all these things and let us take care of it.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, but this dinner we learn that Sophie
- 13:19Speaker 1: wants control, right, and Chelsea's like, look, that's not going
- 13:22Speaker 1: to happen. I'm sorry, Like it's not happening, and basically
- 13:27Speaker 1: calls the meeting. Like at their dinner, she's like, we're
- 13:30Speaker 1: out of here, pat sorry, And I was a little
- 13:33Speaker 1: surprised at Sophie was like, no, please come sit down.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Then we get a little bit of backstory here, and
- 13:39Speaker 1: I got to tell you, somebody who has dealt with cancer,
- 13:43Speaker 1: you're I mean, you've dealt with cancer in your family too,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and as in mine, I was quite moved by Yeah, yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 1: doesn't it uh huh. So we learned, like Chelsea's mom
- 13:54Speaker 1: about Chelsea, more about Chelsea's mom and how that affected Chelsea,
- 13:58Speaker 1: and then we learn some story on Sophie that Sophie
- 14:02Speaker 1: herself had been diagnosed with breast cancer and felt very
- 14:07Speaker 1: out of control yes, during that time, and that part
- 14:11Speaker 1: really lands for me as a person who had cancer myself, Like, yes,
- 14:15Speaker 1: you feel very out of control.
- 14:16Speaker 2: There's these big questions of like why, why me?
- 14:18Speaker 1: What could I have done different? And no, no, no, no,
- 14:20Speaker 1: like everything is so out of control, and so I
- 14:23Speaker 1: get I loved that Sophie was like, things fell out
- 14:27Speaker 1: of control. That's why I want to control. Plus I
- 14:31Speaker 1: other plus I saw she was saying, like, you know,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I had access to all these resources, and I have
- 14:37Speaker 1: money and healthcare and blah blah blah, and a lot
- 14:39Speaker 1: of women don't. And that's that's where she wants to
- 14:42Speaker 1: see her money go to. Basically, Yeah, And I love
- 14:45Speaker 1: Chelsea's line control is an illusion, yes. And I also
- 14:50Speaker 1: love that she said I'm here because I need my
- 14:52Speaker 1: mom's memory to mean something and this is my legacy,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and Sophie's like, I want my legacy to be more
- 14:58Speaker 1: than makeup.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I mean, I think these two women really see each
- 15:01Speaker 1: other here. It's a very powerful moment. I understand both
- 15:05Speaker 1: of their motivations. And then it cuts to them in
- 15:09Speaker 1: the cab, obviously, and they're facetiming with Aiden, and the
- 15:12Speaker 1: wildest thing is Jason's like, Chelsea told them all about
- 15:14Speaker 1: her mom getting sick, and Aiden's like, I didn't know
- 15:16Speaker 1: about her mom, And I think that's wild. Yeah, Aiden
- 15:20Speaker 1: doesn't know her whole motivation for doing this job, right,
- 15:24Speaker 1: But they go celebrate, and I loved when they're on.
- 15:28Speaker 2: You know, they had talked earlier in the day.
- 15:30Speaker 1: They were like, we'll celebrate tonight, like they're being very flirty,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and Jason's like, don't worry, we'll still celebrate after dinner.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And so they have their celebration and they go to
- 15:39Speaker 1: the Eiffel Tower, which is definitely more Chelsea's thing than Jason.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I was so moved in this sea.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Honestly, I can't remember who decided to go to the
- 15:46Speaker 1: Eiffel Tower because they're playing over This song is called
- 15:51Speaker 1: What's Wrong.
- 15:52Speaker 2: This Year's Love by David Green.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's one of the best songs ever.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It's such a good song for this moment, and I
- 16:01Speaker 2: love this song. As soon as it starts playing, I
- 16:04Speaker 2: was like, oh my god, I know. Do you see
- 16:05Speaker 2: my notes? One of the best songs ever to open
- 16:08Speaker 2: this scene under the Eiffel Tower.
- 16:10Speaker 1: All caps this song, OMG, I are selling this chemistry,
- 16:15Speaker 1: the butterflies, the way they look at each other in
- 16:18Speaker 1: the elevator.
- 16:18Speaker 2: We learn a little later Jason it's like a little
- 16:20Speaker 2: nervous about the heights, but.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Like they are, I can feel that feeling that like
- 16:27Speaker 1: first date, second date, falling for each other.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah, being a new person feeling.
- 16:32Speaker 1: And then they get to the top. She realizes he's
- 16:35Speaker 1: afraid of heights, and he says, distract me.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I know, I'm like Lanan Lannan.
- 16:40Speaker 1: She talks about French fries instead, which.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Is actually nice.
- 16:43Speaker 1: They know, like they banter back and forth, they question
- 16:46Speaker 1: and they get to know each other. You know, it
- 16:48Speaker 1: is silly like favorite food siblings. First concert. I love
- 16:51Speaker 1: that their answers were eminem and Lincoln part I know,
- 16:54Speaker 1: I know, and then more clever writing where he's like, well,
- 16:58Speaker 1: like your favorite artists, my palms are getting steady. Yes,
- 17:02Speaker 1: if you guys, I'm imagining that the people watching the
- 17:06Speaker 1: show get the reference here in an m song.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Once again, they almost kiss and Jason stops it again.
- 17:16Speaker 1: So they go back down and he's like, look, I
- 17:18Speaker 1: saw that Marcos called you and she was like, I
- 17:22Speaker 1: didn't even think about listening to that message. Yeah. She's like,
- 17:25Speaker 1: I'm I am falling. He had made a reference earlier
- 17:30Speaker 1: and she kind of blew him off. Yeah, and she's like,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I am falling. And then they have this beautiful kiss
- 17:34Speaker 1: framed by the Eiffel Tower and then I love that.
- 17:38Speaker 1: We cut to them in the elevator and they're making
- 17:39Speaker 1: out in the elevator.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Core I was like steamy Hallmark and he was like
- 17:46Speaker 4: the implication making out in the elevator going up to
- 17:48Speaker 4: their rooms the Bang town, right, Yes, And then they.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Get up to the top and he's like, wait, I'm
- 17:53Speaker 1: not done kissing you. He starts to close the door
- 17:55Speaker 1: and she's like Annabel and it's it's a nice way
- 18:00Speaker 1: again for them to sell the sexiness of the moment
- 18:02Speaker 1: to hint at something further, but nothing further happens on screen.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yes, and you know, he says I'll see you in
- 18:09Speaker 2: the moment. Oh damn, did we do we talk about
- 18:12Speaker 2: the hair talk?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Oh? Okay, we need to rewind because after their meeting
- 18:18Speaker 1: with Sophie. Before the dinner, she and Jason have a
- 18:22Speaker 1: conversation and he is telling her that he met her
- 18:26Speaker 1: before she met him. Yes, that's right, and he talks
- 18:29Speaker 1: about how he was in the hospital his sister had
- 18:32Speaker 1: hurt herself and.
- 18:33Speaker 2: She comes blowing in and she's getting stuff done. She's
- 18:38Speaker 2: a boss b and he was just like.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Her passion for what she was doing made him want
- 18:45Speaker 1: to come work for the ACC. She's the reason he
- 18:47Speaker 1: has his job. And he's telling her all of this
- 18:51Speaker 1: and she's like, you're saying such nice neat things and
- 18:53Speaker 1: I've been so mean and he says, I like you mean, and.
- 18:56Speaker 2: He does it in that voice yes, that I just
- 18:58Speaker 2: love Christian Grave voice.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yes, And then he says, don't get soft, because you're
- 19:03Speaker 1: falling for me, and she tries to brush him off
- 19:07Speaker 1: and he was like that blush, isn't lying Martin Like
- 19:11Speaker 1: he touches her cheek, totally does the hairtgue, damn, and
- 19:17Speaker 1: he says whispers, that's okay, because I think I'm falling
- 19:21Speaker 1: for you too.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yeah, so good.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I mean the lead up to them actually, like kissing
- 19:30Speaker 1: and making up is so well done in this show.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's just like layered upon, like the
- 19:36Speaker 1: anticipation of it.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Baby.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I don't know for this viewer, I think it's well done.
- 19:44Speaker 1: This was an incredible episode top to bottom. And then
- 19:49Speaker 1: Annabel gives Chelsea the sou work. Dude, when you talk
- 19:53Speaker 1: about Annamel and Deckland, but close the loop on Chelsea
- 19:56Speaker 1: and Nightly.
- 19:57Speaker 2: First, we'll come back to her. Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Next morning, Chelsea and Nightley meet up and they're like, like,
- 20:05Speaker 1: you know there. She immediately kisses him and they're walking
- 20:08Speaker 1: and they're holding hands, but he's being weird and he says,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I want you to go see Marcos, Like I don't
- 20:16Speaker 1: want you to have any questions.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, And she's like I don't need to do that,
- 20:20Speaker 2: and he was like I need you to do that. Yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 1: He wants to know for sure that she knows for sure, Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 1: which I do understand. I understand because she was, you know,
- 20:32Speaker 1: she's like, I need to check these off now. She's
- 20:34Speaker 1: distracted by this new love. But what happens when the
- 20:37Speaker 1: newness wears off is she can be like, wait a minute,
- 20:39Speaker 1: what about this one guy, Marcos. He's worried that that's
- 20:41Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. He's oh, he says I'm not falling.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I've fallen. I'm flat on my face. Yeah, it doesn't
- 20:50Speaker 1: He doesn't want any lingering doubts. She doesn't want to
- 20:52Speaker 1: do it, and he says, go.
- 20:53Speaker 2: To him and come home to me.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Oooo.
- 20:59Speaker 3: So good.
- 21:00Speaker 2: It's so good.
- 21:02Speaker 1: And then they have one final kiss and we come
- 21:05Speaker 1: back to our voiceover and she says, maybe I shouldn't
- 21:08Speaker 1: have listened to you, and maybe we would be together
- 21:11Speaker 1: right now. Cut to Annabel and Nightly sharing a cab
- 21:14Speaker 1: to the airport, and Annabel's like, I can't believe you
- 21:17Speaker 1: sent her to be with Marcos and he was like,
- 21:21Speaker 1: wait a minute. The billionaire Marcos pan too a castle.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Do you remember me saying the bridal suite looks like
- 21:33Speaker 1: it's in a castle.
- 21:34Speaker 4: I do.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I had not watched ahead, folks, and the castle grounds
- 21:39Speaker 1: are being set up for a wedding. Cut to Chelsea
- 21:44Speaker 1: in her bridal suite, stepping out on the balcony in
- 21:47Speaker 1: her robe, looking out at Marcos at the castle at
- 21:53Speaker 1: a wedding, and me screaming no and writing in my
- 21:57Speaker 1: notes it was a freaking castle.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I had to rewind this scene so many times because
- 22:04Speaker 1: I was like, wait, no, wait, no, wait, no, this
- 22:09Speaker 1: is not what happens in the book, by the way.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Oh really, okay, so this makes me nervous here because
- 22:15Speaker 1: first of all, Marco is fine, like foine or lowercase
- 22:22Speaker 1: fine like wine.
- 22:29Speaker 2: He's just he looks a.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Little bit more mature, a little like hello, hello, hello, hello.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And now we are led to believe that.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Is she marrying this man.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Maybe maybe we both ended up where we're meant to be.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Chelsea sa no, no, no, okay, I need to know, like,
- 22:51Speaker 1: is there a wedding that happens? And then Nightly comes
- 22:53Speaker 1: in and like, stop their wedding is there?
- 22:56Speaker 2: I don't know what happens.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I didn't finish reading the book, so but we have
- 23:02Speaker 1: departed from the book. Oh my goodness, gracious, though, you know,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I think part of me wanted to be like, okay, well,
- 23:12Speaker 1: the two other dudes her that she revisited ended up
- 23:15Speaker 1: being buffoons, and so like, nothing is ever as good
- 23:19Speaker 1: as we believe, these things that we make in our minds, right,
- 23:22Speaker 1: But now here we're presented with this third guy that
- 23:25Speaker 1: maybe he is fantastic in every way. Maybe Nightly isn't
- 23:32Speaker 1: the guy, maybe, but just a distraction from whose actual
- 23:37Speaker 1: end game we don't.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Know Marcos and we know Nightly and Nightley is bringing it.
- 23:42Speaker 2: It's so hard.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah, this was such a good episode. I'd like to
- 23:50Speaker 1: talk about annabellin but let's talk Annabell. Annabell and Declan.
- 23:55Speaker 1: You know, they have a cute little date. They're bantering.
- 23:58Speaker 1: He's been playing a game called Her, but he's also applying.
- 24:01Speaker 2: To law school.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And we get a little bit more about like her
- 24:06Speaker 1: not really knowing like how to look at her life
- 24:09Speaker 1: since her soccer and right, and then they're playing a
- 24:12Speaker 1: game while she's watching a soccer match on her phone
- 24:17Speaker 1: and he's like, yo, come to find out she watches
- 24:21Speaker 1: every match of Real Madrid because she was engaged to
- 24:25Speaker 1: their superstar player. Right, and he's like, oh, you're still
- 24:29Speaker 1: in love with him. It's complicated. I'm like, well, is
- 24:32Speaker 1: she still in love with him? Fast forward to her
- 24:35Speaker 1: being with Chelsea. This is a very emotional scene. Actually,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I thought she's like, you know, Declan found out about
- 24:42Speaker 1: Rylan and assume she's still in love with him, and
- 24:45Speaker 1: Chelsea's kind of like are you when she's like, but
- 24:47Speaker 1: I'm really not And I believe her in this moment,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but she says she's afraid she won't love someone the
- 24:53Speaker 1: way she loved him, And then they go through this
- 24:57Speaker 1: whole thing and she's like, you know, like you always said,
- 24:59Speaker 1: like like mom and Dad were each other's one true love,
- 25:02Speaker 1: you don't get another one. And then you kind of
- 25:05Speaker 1: see Chelsea feeling like, oh, cramp, Yeah, like if I
- 25:08Speaker 1: believe that about Dad, do I have to believe that
- 25:10Speaker 1: about annabel.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Right or herself?
- 25:13Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yes?
- 25:15Speaker 2: And then she says, maybe Ryland wasn't your true love,
- 25:18Speaker 2: and Annabelle says he was and I ruined it.
- 25:22Speaker 1: You know, we don't really know how that ended. You know,
- 25:25Speaker 1: Is it that annabel sabotaged it? She got injured, she
- 25:28Speaker 1: couldn't have this soccer life anymore, So did she sabotage
- 25:31Speaker 1: her relationship?
- 25:33Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 25:34Speaker 1: I mean, I really don't know how that would work
- 25:36Speaker 1: because you have two athletes on like two different Let's
- 25:38Speaker 1: say annabel plays professional soccer. It's unclear to me if
- 25:42Speaker 1: she was or not seem like it because she was like,
- 25:44Speaker 1: you know, my career and my relationship all ended at
- 25:46Speaker 1: the same time.
- 25:48Speaker 2: She's older in the movie than she appears like in
- 25:51Speaker 2: the series.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Right. I just if you're on two professional teams. Yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 1: you're not together, right, So if her career ended, why
- 26:02Speaker 1: couldn't she just like then go a wag for h Yeah, yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 1: you know. I don't know.
- 26:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Unless this guy's like, I don't I want to a
- 26:13Speaker 1: woman who plays professional sports too, I don't.
- 26:17Speaker 2: That doesn't make any sense to me.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Like she's like, we're not we're not operating on the
- 26:20Speaker 1: same level anymore, so I don't deserve you. Perhaps she
- 26:24Speaker 1: could have totally sabotaged it, y yeah, yeah, but she's
- 26:28Speaker 1: she's still working through some stuff because she's got to
- 26:30Speaker 1: watch every one of his games. I love how this
- 26:33Speaker 1: scene ends, though, she's like, it's.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Not really what you wore on your date. Uh yeah.
- 26:37Speaker 2: They she give her work meeting because she's still in
- 26:40Speaker 2: her uniform. It was back to the sister shit.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I love it.
- 26:43Speaker 2: She's loved to look good and red. But yeah, I
- 26:46Speaker 2: thought it was funny.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I like the the callback to Chelsea's work wardrobe, and
- 26:51Speaker 1: I like that the next morning when she goes to
- 26:53Speaker 1: meet Nightly, like she's in this off the shoulder top.
- 26:55Speaker 1: She's a little little softer right, Yeah, I'm like, where'd
- 26:58Speaker 1: she get that?
- 26:59Speaker 2: Shirt from Where would she get that shirt from? Great?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Great episode, excellent episode. I haven't listened to anybody else

- 27:40Speaker 1: and episode one lays a strong foundation, so I think
